says all these baeddelist things and then in the last 5 minutes trying to denounce radical feminism by denouncing the terms TMA and TME (the only based thing she did, but it's hypocrisy)

Such things do annoy me, I'm not gonna lie. I can understand that romance positive aros, sex positive aces or those who still have sex / are in relationships/ etc use the "aro/ace people can still date / have sex" or remind people that it's a spectrum and some still feel these type of attraction because yes, that's true.

But what annoys me is that saying that to people annoyed about the constant sexualisation/ shipping of Alastor is basically siding with the non aroace spectrum people using that "aroace people can still feel that/ do these things!" who saw that and ran with it purely to be able to continue with what they want to do.

Yes, asexuality and aromanticism are spectrums. Yes, some feel the attraction. Yes, some don't but still engage in these activities. And if you're on the aroace spectrum and it's your case obviously I'm not going to shame you for putting alastor in such scenarii because you're using a character like you to relate, and still acknowledging his aroace identity. The problem is that most people putting him in these situations totally disregard his aroaceness. And when as an aroace (spectrum) person, you say "people can still ship him, I do! Aroace people can feel these things or do them!"... You're basically enabling their erasure of his identity. Deep down you're right, but non aroace people don't care about that, and don't do these things the same way you do.

That's why, to non aroace people shipping alastor, I will remind them that he's aroace. And clearly not on the part of the spectrum where he still feels those things, nor is he interested in pursuing them.

And to the people on the aroace spectrum, I will just say, please, don't mistaken their words for a reel need to showcase the variety of our identity, because most of the time that's not what they want. You don't forget his aroaceness in the way your ship him, they do. Ship him all you want, because I know your heart is in the right place. But please don't defend the others.

As a loveless aroace, it pains me to see him constantly shipped and sexualised by everyone (even though that's clearly not what he'd want), and these things being defended.

I thought I had found a character I could relate to, that I could search stuff about him peacefully without seeing all kind of romantic and sexual stuff. I've been proven wrong, and it hurts. And the excuse they use hurt even more, because it feels like we're only palatable or interesting if we can still feel these attractions sometimes or engage in those things. As if alastor being a loveless aroace is a disappointment, that they *need* to ship him to be satisfied, for him to be enough.

Sorry for the rant, I definitely repeated myself, but I wanted to take the opportunity this ask gave me to give a bit of my opinion on this.

Tldr: I have no problem with aroace spectrum shipping him because I know they keep his aroaceness in mind. I have, however, a problem with non aroace spectrum people doing that because they erase his aroace identity completely AND use the diversity of it as an excuse to continue doing so. And it pains me to see fellow aroace people defending that, because I feel like they don't realise how those people ship him.

The Remus and Sirius height discourse has become so loaded. Today I saw a post claiming that viewing Sirius as taller than Remus means that one supports jkr? (What?)

Canonically, Sirius is taller than Remus. That's just a fact. And I understand that some people don't care about canon, and that's cool!! But even if you don't give a flying fig about canon, that does not make the view that Remus is taller than Sirius any more valid than the reverse, and you can't go around telling other people that they are wrong, or worse, bad people for not agreeing with a version of the character that exists in your head?

Look I get that it would be annoying to have people inject an "ahem actually..." on posts that are clearly based on headcanons. I get that. But that is the natural consequence of taking the names/tags of characters from popular fandoms and using them for your own OCs, and the fact that these fans jump to "they must be horrible people!" as opposed to "they might be confused about my relationship with canon" is... something.

As someone who is neurodivergent, I find that the fandom that claims to love diversity has very little tolerance for people who don't understand the unwritten rules about when canon is and isn't allowed to be used as a reference point. (Somehow, we still hate Snape because canon, but all other canon is garbage?) Sorry for the rant, I'm just tired and confused.

don't be sorry at all, i think this kind of thing needs to be talked about because at its worst, this rhetoric is an attempt at emotional manipulation and censorship. nobody is ever going to 100% agree even with the exact same words on a page - this is the entire literary criticism field, most of the time variation in readings are a good thing but this isn't even a "reading", because it has no bearing on the characters, they just are or aren't a certain height, so it becomes a tool for personal agendas - "if you think sirius was tall, you're a fascist". even though those two facts are not connected, because sirius' height is never anything more than a physical description of him. and it's glaringly obvious that the people who fixate on this aren't interested in sirius as a character, just as a vehicle for their own fantasies/validation.

this is the problem that comes from people trying to put dynamics & personalities that they want to see onto characters who don't fit those moulds. the height thing doesn't actually matter, it doesn't change anything in the narrative, but it summarises the attitude towards canon which for me summarises critical reading & reading comprehension as a whole within hp fandom. i don't think canon is perfect and i don't think it's sacred but i don't understand why you would engage with something that you have to twist out of recognition in order to enjoy it.

part of the fun of fandom, for me, is finding the limits and boundaries while maintaining recognition. at the very least, even if you change everything else, character has to be consistent. you have to recognise who you're working with otherwise what are you doing here? other authors are writing and have written exactly what you want, so why do you need this character with a history and motivations and a distinctive personality to be the ideal version of you/the partner you want (because lbr, that's it!). i'm not saying that people can't use their imaginations and bend things, i do it, and people can do that by bending characters out of recognition if they want. i don't get any enjoyment out of that or see the point in it but i'm not going to try and stop people. it's the flagrant dismissal of logic and evidence that i think is a more dangerous stance when applied more widely.

it's ALWAYS the people who want remus to be taller and sirius to be tiny who have 10 million personal reasons why they need it to be that way around despite it being clear that sirius is specifically tall, and remus is of such average and nondescript height that it's never mentioned. it's nobody else's responsibility to validate anyone's projections onto a fictional character, and your personal reasons for wanting a character to behave in a way that they wouldn't isn't anybody's responsibility. i don't think these kind of people see the irony in how they're trying to force their view on everyone else even though there's direct contradiction to it, yet are claiming that people who go with that feature from the text are violent fanaticists or something.

when you question why it makes such a difference to the "big strong remus and baby boi sirius" people, it comes down to "it's cuter" or "it allows me to simplify m/m relationships into tough and cute and use physical attributes as symbols rather than thinking complexly about personality traits and dynamics." the height thing is basically one step away from top/bottom discourse and just because someone identifies as queer or relates to a character doesn't make it unproblematic. if you need to see a character who represents your specific circumstances, find one or make an original one, imo. it's not an entire fandom's job to validate individuals and it's manipulative to suggest that someone else seeing a character according to the way that character is explicitly described is an act of hatred or violence or something.

apologies if this turned into a rant of its own - i don't CARE that sirius is tall but the attitude towards minor, basic facts is wild to me. it makes no difference to me but idk why you would take being taller than snape away from sirius bc he clearly enjoys being able to tower over him. if i did want to argue that sirius' height makes a difference in the text, i'd say that sirius is tall because padfoot is also a large creature and there seems to be some kind of reflection of the human in animagus forms, whereas the whole werewolf thing is something inflicted externally rather than something that comes from within the person so remus' human height isn't reflected by his lycanthropy. but that's a whole other question i would have to research more.

i just wanted to check in on you. as someone who follows you and has the notifs on for your posts, i hope that's not creepy, i saw some of the asks and posts awhile back about leaving the blog. Obviously, do what's best for you. Always. Regardless of your decision, I just want to emphasize how appreciated you are to us Foggy fans, all five of us.

Really, the work you must do to compile the posts, the dedication to posting so often, and the fact you are running a blog for a "small" character in the Marvel universe at all, should be acknowledged.

The hateful messages you receive are extremely uncalled for. You have the right to exist and enjoy the character you love in peace. I applaud how you handled those messages with grace and more patience than I would have. I wanted to rush to your defense at the time. I even ranted to my poor unsuspecting irl friend about the situation, but I didn't actually come on here at the time (due to irl issues), so I still apologize. I've been annoyed at those anonymous messages and concerned for you ever since.

Well, I'm just like Foggy; I cry easily, I get emotional easily, I care too much and I'm generally left behind.

That's why I relate to him so much. (And also with Elden, but that's a topic for another day, who knows)

Your ask made me very emotional, my dear. Because it's so true. We Foggy fans are small, but we are amazing!

And you're right. I still want to delete this blog. There's no point staying and trying when things are getting messy. I know when it's my time to go and I know I'm going to feel sicker when Born Again comes out.

I want to delete it and just disappear and maybe stop drawing (I only started drawing again because of Daredevil). I want to delete this blog, but there are so many little memories here; it's a little piece of me, so I don't know what to do...

Being a Foggy enthusiast is an amazing job and a way of life. But it's so lonely most of the time. There is no one to share absolutely anything with. There is no one to cry with. There is no comfort. There are not thousands of those lovely edits. Hell, people tirelessly share even edits with Jon and Wilson (even the stars of the series seem to appreciate them most), but no one shares anything about Elden and his Foggy at all. I feel sad that he is left aside as if his work was worthless. I'm terribly upset because Foggy is such a rich and interesting character, but he doesn't have "that Marvel's appeal". I hope I'm wrong and that he has a chance in the future, but I'm not confident.

The fandom has become a terrible place, especially for Live!Foggy fans.

Messages like:

"Karen is better than him. Matt doesn't need him. Foggy should die, and Karen deserves to live. Foggy is useless. Karen is the co-protagonist. Born again will be better without him"... etc...

And not to mention the messages I receive about how Elden and his family deserved to die. Body shaming him, etc.

Some fans are just as greedy as their idols, and when I think about it, I'm glad Elden isn't like them. I'm also happy because even though I feel alone here, my heart is not heavy with hate.

Rare are the people who value Foggy, not only because he is Matt's best friend, but mainly because he has his own story and importance.

Unfortunately, Marvel seems to have forgotten about this, and recent issues and Born Again are, little by little, erasing him.

I hope one day they reconsider this. And maybe one day I'll watch this series (this will be the first time I refuse to watch something Elden is in) and maybe one day I'll see fan posts again and feel proud and happy again. But for now, I just feel sad.

Thank you very much for your concern for me. My intention with this blog was to bring a little joy, and I also believe Foggy and Elden deserve more recognition.

And I had so many interesting things to share, but there's no use. Most Daredevil fans don't deserve them.

ugghhh, been playing phasmo public lobbies and I'm annoyed so time for a rant. I'll spare you the annoyance and put it under the cut

PHASMO PUBLIC LOBBIES. I know lots of other ppl have problems with them (esp other girls), but I didn't realise they sucked this badly. The only lobby I could find where the people were actively playing the game and communicating with each other was the same game where I had to leave midway through because they wouldn't talk to me properly. it was just "bri'ish" jokes. like I don't even rly care about those kinds of jokes considering I joke abt American accents all the time (not that these guys were american but thats besides the point), but it's when ppl are refusing to talk to me like a regular human being that it pisses me off. bear in mind these guys heard me speak and instantly went "where are you from". my response wasnt even that rude considering how creepy of a question that can be (response being "none of your business"). and then you get the average lobby experience: you're the only girl in a lobby of 3 men who will NOT listen to you. "Oh guys it turned off the light switch after I touched it, it's a mare!"...

5 minutes (5 WHOLE MINUTES) after this one of the guys goes "Oh I got ghost writing it's a mare" and oh SUDDENLY everyone decides to listen. It wasn't even a case of "let's get the rest of the evidence first to make sure it wasn't a coincidence" it was complete and utter ignorance. and no it wasn't that they couldn't hear me, they heard me say hi in the lobby and (miraculously) they responded.

soo yeah, I'm pissed off tbh. I know most online game lobbies are like this but it still pisses me off to no end. and I don't even think I've seen the worst of it, some reddit posts I find from other women are way worse than my experiences. the first time I played online was better than this tbf, found this girl who was rly nice and actually good at the game. we added each other on steam then never bothered playing again tho. and even then I had to kick some dude from a lobby i was playing in bc he joined and first thing he does is start flirting (well, more like harassing) with a female teammate I was playing with before. AND when I kicked him the other dude in our lobby had the audacity to DEFEND this dude. apparently I was in the wrong for kicking him just because he was prestige 20.

Alright, fuck it, I'm ranting about how Deltarune theorists treat the Halloween Hack

Forewarning: I'm probably going to come across as rude here, but good LORD is this reading insidious. Alright, so apparently there's an epidemic of using the Earthbound Halloween Hack to justify their Deltarune theories. Something to the effect of 'Well, the Halloween Hack was about you, the player, being a murderer and that the only ethical choice is not to play it and kill the innocent old man, so who's to say he didn't recycle those themes into Deltarune?'

Which would be fine and all if it weren't for the fact that it's wrong. And this has been spreading secondhand by people who have never played nor experienced a LP of the Halloween Hack, so I guess it falls to me to correct it. There are some correct broad strokes here; the character we play as is a bounty hunter in a framing that portrays the job as being a more socially acceptable assassin, and there is a sadistic, possibly third party entity that takes glee in Andonuts' death. But the one thing we know for certain is that it is NOT the player. And by the start of the game, Andonuts is anything but innocent. To elaborate on the latter, the Andonuts in the Halloween Hack is not the goofy old man from Earthbound, but a maniac driven insane with guilt trying to bring the whole world down with them. He's turned his immediate surroundings into a hellscape of bioengineered monstrosities and a few survivors desperately trying to survive, and said monsters are starting to encroach into other towns, it's implied even that those monsters are abducting people - or killing them without even leaving a body. And when Varik comes a'knockin', he doesn't try to deny that he caused this; he fluctuates between laughter and gibbering in terror, locking himself into the Magicant machine in the belief that it will in some way save him. Which brings us to the former.

Now, I'm not sure that Toby had a solid metanarrative idea in mind here - all interactions are portrayed as being spoken to Varik. But it's at this point that the narration (or at least the real world narration), who or whatever it may be, gets VERY pushy. It starts portraying Andonuts as less of a man, and more of some kind of beast, a monster to slay, and urges you to kill him in his sleep. If you choose to do so, it praises you, tells you/Varik that you did the right thing, and then the game ends because that's not the true ending. If you choose the blank second option, the narration gets annoyed, and tells you that you don't have the option to do nothing. But if you press the "B" button, it loses its shit. It starts trying to convince you, pleads with you, telling you that you want to, NEED to kill him, eventually devolving into the rage of the leftmost textbox as Varik enters Andonuts' mental world instead of committing cold-blooded murder.

As you explore his mindscape, you start to piece together the reasons Andonuts ended up this messed up - repressed sexuality, strained relationships, and, of course, the mistaken belief that he personally caused the death of his son and his friends due to a misunderstanding of how time travel works. You're informed that you need to gather Dr. Andonuts' "courage" in order to reach the deepest depths of his mind. As you progress through his memories and self loathing, you find entities that call themselves "courage". However, it becomes more and more clear, until Poo outright states it, that they are actually some kind of psychic projection (Earthbound is about kids with psychic powers FYI) from the kids who Andonuts thinks he killed (besides Ness, who for some reason that even the game seems to be confused about is narratively equated with Varik), from the new timeline they ended up in after killing the game's main antagonist. The motives get clearer too; at first, you're told that their goal is to 'help' or 'save' Andonuts in some vague way, but as you progress, it becomes clearer and clearer that Andonuts has gone far past the point of no return; Poo makes it clear that they know they can't save-save Andonuts, and the best thing they can hope for is to stop him from mentally torturing what little is left of himself in his dream world. And then, the final battle. It starts with fighting Andonuts' Id, a gory, deformed creature that does nothing but be miserable and beg for mercy. This feels less like cruelty, and more of a necessary evil; the status quo is only making Andonuts lose his mind more, and killing it isn't the same as killing Andonuts, as evidenced by the fact that Andonuts is still there to fight you after you kill it. After that, you fight Andonuts' Rage, who claims that with the Id gone, his mind is nothing but hatred. Whether it's true or not, he makes it quite clear that the Andonuts we are fighting is pure anger; there's the memey dialogue, which, while somewhat tastelessly executed and overly crude by modern and professional standards, does the job quite well at portraying him as a being composed of hatred. There's also his most powerful attacks being "PSI Bitchkill" and kicking you in the dick really hard. Yes, really.

Ultimately, Andonuts' Rage is defeated, and Magicant fades away, and we find out the outcome - Andonuts is dead. The game muses on what the point of this whole thing was if he was going to die anyway, and closes out on Varik musing on how his life is pretty good, a fart joke, and a 'Happy Halloween' from Toby.

Now, while you could be forgiven for interpreting Magicant as being pointless, and you are intended to feel cheated on some level, I don't think it's quite so simple. Yes, Andonuts dies no matter what you do, but the portrayal of it is treated quite differently. Killing him right off, between the tone of the narration and the lack of ending, feels gross and wrong. His death upon beating his mental hangups feels more melancholic. Like you tried to do the right thing, but failed.

And I feel the weight of Magicant is important too - you actually come to understand and even feel bad for Andonuts, rather than simply writing him off as a monster and discarding him. The canon heroes, too, find it to still be worth it to try to put him out of his misery to try to give him some semblance of a peaceful death, given how they're all gung-ho on finishing the adventure and how Poo acknowledges that there's no way at this point that Andonuts can reach a happy ending.

So, to try to bring it back around to Deltarune, if there's anything that Toby took from this to bring to Deltarune's plot, I believe it is this sentiment:

Sure, Andonuts died either way. Whatever you try, that can't be changed. But still, there is value in your choice to disobey the narration. there is value in choosing to understand him, despite being doomed, in trying to give him a better death than being stabbed in his self-torture chamber. Yes, what you chose to do may not change anything. But there is still meaning in the fact that you chose to do it.

If Deltarune really does only have one ending (and that little question mark in that one description is putting that into doubt), you participating in Kris' story, and how to choose to do so, still matter. Snowgrave wouldn't be that big of a deal if they didn't. Choosing not to play might even end up being the worst outcome for that world.

I wish I'd thought to screen grab it, but I was on TikTok yesterday and scrolled to a Live I have no idea HOW the algorithm thought I'd appreciate.

Dude in a MAGA hat, preaching the word, talking about Sin and Jesus and how only Christians would make it to heaven. How Christians couldn't sin. Didn't Sin.

I nearly scrolled away immediately, but for some reason - I think I thought it was a bit? It seemed just ridiculous enough to be a bit - I stuck around for a second. This dude proceeded to spew a whole pack of gobbledygook about accepting Jesus so that heaven could be your otherworldly destination.

Now. Here's the thing. On the whole, I have no problem with a belief in God. I even really like the teachings of Jesus, the socialist who hung exclusively with whores and dudes, who ranted against wealth inequality and told rich men they wouldn't even get to the gates with their money. I vibe with that guy.

Personally, the idea that a book written by a bunch of dudes (and ladies, but we don't put those parts in any official versions bc what would a woman know about God), and the seemingly active threat of firey depths of hell is the only thing keeping most people (US Christians, at the very least) from actively raping and murderering and adultering (etc) their way through life is a little... Yikes to me. But that's not really the point.

The point is this man was very much NOT doing a bit. Which was. Disappointing. No idea how he worked his way through my algorithm if it wasn't satire.

He reiterates that Christians and Christians alone follow the word of God, and therefore CANNOT Sin. Sin is somehow not inevitable for them. Sin is impossible because they accept Jesus.

I'm not very religious, I don't know a whole lot about the practicing parts of most religions, but I do know the very basic tenant that this Jesus guy, like, DIED for our sins. Because... we all commit them. Like that's a pretty big part of his story, right? He sacrificed his earthly body because we are all sinners and by accepting his teachings we could learn to do better, be better, etc.

These speeches are always followed by an after party. At stark industries only higher up members are allowed. So the guests mostly consist of your coworkers and the avengers.

"You, backroom now" Tony says as he passes you by.

This isn't uncommon. Tony knows you can keep a secret.So he uses your ears as a vice for his many- many complaints and rants.

But, that's where he keeps the good alcohol so you don't mind all that much.

Sat in the room you wait for Tony. But when he comes in there's someone else tailing him.

Okay so Alphys is like, a mess??? Like, I don't know how to explain it all so I think I'll get a previous writing of mine that explains most of the deal with her (the True Lab stuff isn't explained but that is a Whole Mess that would make this 8 paragraph-long ask even longer):

Context: I made a comment mentioning people hating on Undertale characters after appearing to express an enjoyment for a character that I like, someone asked me to rant about it, and I did, making a third of my analysis about Alphys (the rest was about Asgore, who's on the competition, and Toriel, whose hate is fairly minor compared to the others):

"I said it a couple times that Alphys is the least popular character in the game, and it's by a landslide. Why? Well, there are a few reasons, mainly the irredeemable crime of being annoying, because Toby Fox didn't think it through fully and made it so that the Texts in Hotland and the CORE repeated after each death and replay, so you're forced to see the exact same jokes every time you die to literally anything.

That's just the main reason, though, we still have to talk about her manipulation and compulsive lying! She manipulates Frisk through the areas where she's present in a way to act as a Cool Supporting Character, deliberately delays Mettaton's Gender-Affirming Surgery body finalization because she's afraid of losing her only friend, and makes small white lies to Undyne so she can seem cooler to her. These are the main issues, and seem to come from a place of bad mental health and some sort of mental disorder, but a lot of people really dislike her just because of that and then proceed to tell Undyne that Anime is real not to hurt her feelings despite that being a dick move to Alphys because it forces her to say that AGAIN WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU.

There's also the apparent incompetence of her actions in the True Lab but honestly those are like 5 cans of worms that I Do Not Want To Get Into, so basically a lot of people misinterpret Catty and Bratty's dialogue in a way that makes it seem like Alphys lied to Asgore to get the job, but that's a completely baseless assumption, and considering how Mettaton works and what was asked of her I don't think it makes much sense.

The issue here is that people are dunking on Alphys's questionable actions when Asgore has done much worse, and then completely missing the point of her character. It's annoying and pretty much omnipresent in the fandom, with a particularly bad case of it being in this video, that calls out the fandom's mistreatment of Asgore and then proceeds to literally call stuff that Alphys didn't do, or was forced to do, out, like lying to get her job (again, not true), or not warning anyone about Flowey (she was being manipulated by him). It's a huge mess that comes from a gameplay annoyance but turned into something way bigger."

Idk if she should qualify due to most of the feelings towards her being fully negative, but eh Mineta did and I'm yet to see someone who genuinely enjoys him :P
