I do love animals. I breed quail for meat and eggs, and that means that yes, I kill some of my birds, just as I kill some of my mice who are unsuitable for pet homes or unnecessary for breeding, just as I have sent overtly aggressive peafowl that would be dangerous to other birds or humans home with someone to be dinner.

Loving animals and understanding meat source animals must be killed to be eaten and that domesticated husbandry requires some amount of hard culling for the benefit of the breeding program and species as a whole are not mutually exclusive ideas. It is my job to give my animals good, proper care, enrichment, and love until their time in this world is over (for some that's sooner than others), to ensure that death is as humane as possible, and to ensure that as little as possible goes to waste after.

And almost nothing here does go to waste; offal or unusable parts goes to the crows and other scavengers I feed at the front of the house (and in turn they chase off nosy hawks and eagles), meat gets eaten, bones get used to make stock and then composted for the garden. Mouse culls and quail feeder culls (quail hatched specifically to be feeders for other animals) almost all go to reptile owners who want ethically sourced animals kept in better conditions/fed better feed (the exception is when Bug eats some of them instead). And the two times I have ever had to cull aggressive peafowl, they both went to a hunting family that made use of the meat.

Additionally, on several occasions now, I have been called upon by others to help euthanize their fowl friends. Strangers who couldn't afford a vet bill but wanted to put an end to their bird's suffering. Strangers that knew it needed to be done but couldn't do it themselves, or that didn't know how. I have taught others how to do cervical dislocation in case the need arrives ever again, so the bird doesn't have to wait. I have held sobbing owners who thanked me for being able to do what they couldn't even when they knew it was necessary. And yes, I have demonstrated the butchering process to folks who want quail meat, so that I know they're giving a quick, humane end to their birds.

Death is a part of life. When you raise purpose animals, death is going to be a part of the deal at some point.

It doesn't mean I love them any less while they're here, or in general.

The first story post I made was typed out in the immediate aftermath of finishing the game - so I was sustained by pure disappointment and mild rage lmao.

I ended up making a lot of edits to that post because I rushed it out and basically rambled, and I want this post to be more concise and not need to have any edits (hopefully!). The Lore lost post will likely be a bit more subjective, since there's every chance that BioWare could bring it up again, potentially - even though the games seem to be heading 'across the seas' according to what they set up. I also have to go through the codex entries/books as a refresher at times, so its taking a little longer to get it all together :)

There were also a lot of lore reveals in datv that were also just poorly revealed or were treated with such a lack of gravitas (by the story and Rook) that I'll be including them too. It is coming! I just want it to be done right. :)

How would Ren feel if they got the chance to see and even interact with a bitty version of each of the boys?

Well first, they'd struggle with the concept that there are smaller, cuter, less-capable-of-murder versions of them. They aren't quite sure how that's possible, but these guys all have roughly the same attitudes as their full-sized counterparts.

With Killer, you have to keep all sharp things out of his reach. Fortunately, he's as much of a ham in fun size as he is in full size. He shoulder-rides and sleeps in pockets. He also keeps getting hold of sewing needles and breaking them into small weapons for himself. He goes by Razor

Dust's spends a lot of time sleeping in pockets and lounging where he can. He's pretty chill, but bitey, so if anyone's hands come near him who... he doesn't want to touch you... get bit. He'll also hide under hair, if he can, and prefers not to be seen. He goes by Speck

Axe's bitty is a little bigger than the others, but not by a whole lot. He's got a bit of a problem with resource guarding, but it's sort of expected. Give him his own snack-sized bag of chisps and he's fine. He's otherwise pretty placid and tolerant. He goes by Scrap

Cross' likes head rides. It lets him see everything around him and keep constant vigilance. He takes keeping them safe very seriously, even if they're vastly more dangerous than he is. He likes to pretend he doesn't need as much affection as the others but... kind of melts if you get right under the back of his skull. He goes by Chi

Baggs' bitty is a hilariously uptight little tyrant, who tries to keep everyone else in line. He is also a little gremlin who can be bought with pizza rolls. While he still possesses hypnosis powers, they're really only strong enough to deal with other bitties. The worst he can do to someone full-sized is make them a little drowsy. He goes by Dryl.

Nightmare's is a little grouch who doesn't like anyone, really, but... he's a bitty, so he has to put up with others. He prefers his own company with a book, and will happily bask in front of a space heater like a cat. If you are patient and gentle, he will eventually spend more time in contact with you, and relaxes somewhat. He goes by Dread.

If they ever do come into contact with these guys, it's liable to be brief, since... they're kind of fragile and not great in a group (unlike their larger counterparts). The playing field is more even, so power struggles are frequent. They generally get recommended to homes where they're the only bitty, or one of two. None of them play very well with others unless they're clearly the dominant one.

Also for some reason I think beels "woof" would be like that one meme with the husky where the humans are trying to sush it and he just lets out the most definde 'woof' ever.

Another thing,what if they tried to write out their names??? Like Satan steps in int and tries to make multuple paw prints on a paper to draw out his name in a way (he fails)

Also, it's said that crows can learn some words...what if crow Mammon (due to being magic as well) manages to start saying a few words and even starts making full on sentences. Can just imagine him flying through the window and landing in front of Ik and her dad like "feed me mortals or perish" as a joke to freak them out BC 'omg a talking crow' AND THEY INSTEAD START SCREAMING THWIR BUTTS OFF WHILE MAMMON IS TRYING TO CALM THEM DOWN BUT IT ONLY TURNS WORSE.

On the talking crow Mammon topic,what if he tells Ik what the others want to tell her?? Like "Yeah Lucifer wants you to put more Britney Spears" or "Levi wants to watch you play this game" or "Asmo says you gotta go pet him"

i love the idea of the brothers attempting to communicate their names,, i feel like lucifer and/or satan would come up with some really smart method of going about it (like laying out books or ripping up a newspaper and using the letters), but ik and her dad are just like 'ah, what silly animal antics' and clean up the mess without even noticing what they're trying to spell out

so at first they just all have nicknames-

lucifer: peter (as in Peter the Peacock)

mammon: car (crow goes "caw!", caw sounds like 'car', ergo, car)

levi: socks (on the first morning after they took the animals in, ik found him trying to hide inside one. it's also funny because usually you get cats or dogs named this)

satan: paddy (aunt lisa picked this one - as in st paddy, for his green eyes)

asmo: duchess (ik had a feeling he'd like it)

beel: boof (it's the noise he makes)

belphie: hu (from the chinese word for fox (zhao picked this one). sometimes it's extended to hu-hu)

at first, satan and asmo are the only ones who like their new nicknames, while everyone else is mostly neutral on theirs, apart from lucifer, who HATES his

however, he still responds to it, so really it's his fault that it sticks

eventually everyone warms up to their new nicknames, but they'd still like their new family to know their actual ones

i like the idea of mammon learning speech, so yes he'd be the one to eventually relay the message!

he hops around on ik's shoulder going "lucifer! lucifer! lucifer!", and ik thinks her crow friend is conducting a ritual up until she realises he keeps pointing his beak at peter the peacock

she does switch to their actual names once she learns them, but in her head she still tends to refer to them by their nicknames, and they still respond when she uses them aloud

mammon's language would be more fluent than a regular crow's, but i don't think he'd generally be able to string together full sentences

so it's more like a "hey! food!" when he's hungry, "kid? okay?" when he's concerned, "levi. bowl. broke!" when he's snitching

he can manage full sentences if he tries really hard, but he usually can't be bothered, so he saves them for when he's serious

for example, if ik were getting bullied, he would go full fluency mode to say "i'm gonna kill them for you"

the other brothers are mostly happy to just chill (particularly levi and belphie), but lucifer gets so restless with no work to do that he starts assigning himself random chores to occupy himself

for example he's decided it's his job to open all the curtains in the morning and close them at night

ik starts bringing home random worksheets from school and lucifer will just sit there staring at them (he doesn't have hands to write with so he just has to answer mentally)

levi has a little box by the window from which he can see the tv and also sunbathe

ik brings home a sheet of stickers so that he can pick some to decorate with

beel is SUCH a big dog that he would take up the whooole sofa or bed if he sat there, so usually he very politely sticks to the floor

but then they buy him a big blanket and he starts carrying it with him from room to room to rest on (belphie also steals it a lot)

everyone has their own little spots around the house where they usually stay, apart from mammon, who is nearly always found on ik's shoulder

if ik isn't home he will stand on zhao's head instead

satan nearly always sleeps on either ik or zhao's bed and at some point his habit extends to the others, so they start taking it in turns being 'guards' for both humans at night

lucifer pretends to be above it as if he DOESN'T trot himself right to rooms and stay there the whole night as soon as it's his turn

whenever ik's stressed out from school she comes home and just plonks herself on beel

he's such a big dog that he barely even feels it so he's perfectly happy to be a big fluffy pillow

levi spends most of his time in his box but he'll also be quite happy to go around the house draped around ik's neck and listening to her narrate her whole day to him

sometimes ik brings asmo ribbons and such and he gets so excited that he does that jumpy twisty thing rabbits do (i think it's called binkying?)

asmo and satan both get the zoomies but satan's always so embarrassed about it afterwards, while asmo simply owns the energy and then flops over for pats afterwards

belphie's normally very quiet and docile but occasionally he'll just SCREAM and it scares everyone in the house

This is about as close to a raw as I'm gonna post, there's no BGM and there's no SFX added, nor has the second voice (that of Red) been added in. But, I figure it's a good way to apologize for the lack of content (and being more active on Twitter than on Tumblr)

It's a bit old, as it was done when I was first working on my impression of Baggs, and I've since had more time to hone and perfect the cadence of that impression. So, I'd probably redo this audio entirely later anyways. But, I figure, it's something I can at least share with y'all and something that might get a giggle. Synopsys is essentially Red calling Baggs because Sonia's sick and he has no idea how to handle treating a sick human. Baggs explains some things, and mentions that he's fit Red's next appointment into his schedule. Red very quickly mentions that he's going to handle taking care of Sonia and hangs up mid Baggs talking.

So essentially, SHENANIGANS.

Ok now I am wondering I saw that post about Raph. I don’t know if I fee comfortable saying Raph is the one always putting his family in danger he does try to protect them. But never mind that. Overall what is your opinion on Raph how do you feel about him from besides rise that is.

First I wanna say that Raph and Mikey are tied as my favorites overall. So I do love his character, always have since I was 8. And that I absolutely love this ask I hope you're ready for a very. Very long post.

Next I wanna mention I feel like I might've came off a little wrong? I didn't mean he always puts them in danger, and I did mention he's extremely protective of his family, however he does put them more at risk, at least, especially in Splinter and Leo's point of view.

It goes back to the "caught between wanting to do the right thing, having a sense of duty due to his strong empathy and justice", which I'd say his desire to help people is actually more then Leo's. But I'll touch on the Leo v Raph thing later.

And also caught between wanting his family safe and alive. He gets angry when his family screws off, but he freaks out the moment they're hurt. As I mentioned before he deeply cares about the people around him, he's the kinda guy who you get close to and every single time you're invited to family dinner. [Seen usually with Casey Jones]

They're two very warring desires, you can't be on the battlefield and keep your family safe too. Not that I'm sure Raph fully ever realizes this. Raph is centered around protecting people. He's always been a protector. They're two very conflicting desires. And this is brought up repeatedly in the franchise.

You see snippets in 2012, recently it was mentioned in TOTTMNT, in the Rise movie the infamous "Hero moves are totally your style" scene is also a perfect depiction of this, and one other spot you see this is again the TMNT 2007 prologue comics of how Raph became the Nightwatcher.

Since I'm pretty sure most people don't know what I mean by the 2007 Prologue comic, all of them are walking through the sewers after a patrol. They hear a man being mugged on the surface and Raph insists on helping him, but Leo tells him to leave it that it's none of their business and risking revealing themselves is too dangerous. Raph sneaks out and saves the old man anyway.

That's what I mean about how he did it anyway, at the risk of his family. Because he has a desire to help and protect the people around him.

Which leads me to the Leo and Raph conflicts. Personally I love all of them, I think they're also needed. Leo and Raph balance each other out. Leo is by far the most different by iteration but also the most consistent; he's just like Splinter. Obviously there's differences but this is about Raph not Leo.

Leo often gets caught in his plans, or his responsibilities and obligations. At the end of the day Leo easily gets swept up in his own desires or following whatever kind of rules. This is where it's important Raph's character comes in.

Leo is spiralling? Raph grounds him. Leo is being too strict and bossy and even putting his own family's wellbeing in danger because Leo is too caught up in being a leader before being a brother? Raph is quick to try to shut it down. Leo trusts some sketchy person? Raph starts being Leo's biggest pain in the ass by refusing to work with him but staying around for his brother's safety. Leo tries to sacrifice himself [again]? Raph is quick to try to get him out of the situation if he can.

Raph in a way, is like a coleader, but more then that he reminds Leo that Leo is their brother first, leader second. Because although he cares about helping people more then Leo ever could hope to, Raph is also terrified of losing his family, which is all he has.

In 2012 when Leo starts struggling with his mental wellbeing and replicating Splinter's... Less then ideal habits of being a "sensei", it's actually Mikey who flags this up and is the most worried. And Raph is immediately the one who steps up to soothe him.

Which brings me to my next point, second to Mikey he's the most emotionally intelligent and empathetic. This is due to how emotional he is himself. And whereas for Mikey he shares Leo's habit of wanting to believe in the best of people, Raph is extremely perceptive and is the first to sniff out bullshit and if someone is dangerous to be around.

It's seen in some moments in TMNT 2012, and also in 2003. He's slow to trust, but quick to defend.

But back on the self-loathing Raph has, it will not never fuck me up over the implied fact that Raph, is suicidal. At the very least in 2012 but I believe we can see this in other iterations as well. In 2012 Raph says "I don't care if I get hurt for my actions, it's different when it's my family" [<-or something similar to those lines]. And honestly you can see this with every iteration with how reckless he is in battle, and his reaction to being injured himself vs his family being injured.

Anytime his family is in danger, he snaps and immediately goes in with the very changed intent to kill. He usually doesn't succeed, but it is a point emphasized in Last Ronin before he dies. When he's injured you don't really see him mention any response to it. Maybe a spiteful "I don't want to die in THIS place" but there's never any attention done on if he cares about being injured [maybe mentions in TOTTMNT where he's scared rightfully of being sold and tortured]

Because Raph doesn't see himself in good light. I'm going to emphasize in the newest soft reboot of IDW of some of his dialogue about himself while undercover in prison [btw HIGHLY recommend picking it up it is so insanely good it's the best version of "what will the turtles do if older and separated and can do anything"].

The way he talks about himself he compares himself with being just as awful as the prisoners he's with. He has no desire to leave [outside of being undercover] because he feels he deserves to be there. He explains it's because of how violent he's been, and even mentions how upset he is about not being around his family anymore, but in a way that it sounds like he's betrayed by that [granted so far all of them seem to feel that way but I'll mention his issues with being left in a second]

When he talks about himself he compares himself to the violent criminals around him, states that violence is all he knows, and it doesn't seem like he likes that either. It's not the first time we see Raph hating his violence and anger issues, playing up being a villain or being distraught over how he hurts the people he loves around him.

There's a moment in 2003, a few in 2012, and obviously ROTTMNT, and now this newer iteration. But you also see it in 2007 when Leo gets taken after their fight.

Despite how much he cares about everyone, how much he's willing to throw away to do the right thing, how much he's willing to throw himself in danger before anyone else, he sees himself as nothing but a violent monster.

Speaking of 2007 I'm going to touch on the last part of this post; Raph hates being separated from his family. In 2007 the worst Raph Leo conflict and actual fight I've seen in TMNT thus far, goes to when Raph is upset that Leo left for 3 years, when he was supposed by back after 1.

Whereas most of their conflicts is Raph being the one telling Leo he's being stupid [or vise versa], this is the one where it's about Raph holding a grudge and struggling to manage his feelings about Leo's absence. So in a flip of roles when Leo tells Raph that Raph's sense of obligation and justice has caused more turmoil for his family by him not being there for them, and that going out as the Nightwatcher alone puts them at risk, Raph doesn't respond well.

He says "You can't leave and come back in here to play leader again" [again not direct quote but it is something similar along those lines], but it translates to "You can't leave me and come back acting like my older brother again"

Obviously we also know in ROTTMNT that Raph struggles with separation anxiety. Raph hates being separated from the people he loves, because although he'll ALWAYS try to do the right thing, he can't stand to be without his family.

Poor dear was in blue when we first met. If I knew I'd have asked to wait! She was the grumpiest she'd ever been in her life, and I can't blame her. I was scared too, it was my first time meeting a snake I can remember, and I had no idea what I was in for. With how upset she was and at first I was worried I made a mistake and brought a dangerous animal into my home that would forever be aggressive and hostile!

I now know she was just scared, not only blind but no idea where she was or what was happening. We quickly fell in love with each other platonically, and trust one another completely. Meeting her is the best thing that's happened in my life! ... And a lot of pretty great things have happened in my life. But Scoria? I've never met so selfless, pure, and sweet a person. And she's so cute! The way she looks at me I think the feeling is mutual, and that makes me so happy <3

You get this mysterious and slightly unsettling Facebook marketplace listing I screenshotted the other day labeled cryptically as "pets", which shows only a variety of seemingly empty boxes!

Are they invisible pets? Are they small insects? Did the pets they intended to sell in them escape, leaving them to sell only empty boxes? Are they boxes that one leaves out to attract a pet? Are they portals to a secret realm of pets? The world may never know because I am not spending $5 on that! But I guess metaphorically I am stealing one and handing it to you, so you get to find out!

Twst does such a good job of worldbuilding, and making every character so well developed, any and all character interactions end up interesting!
