This is me!

(I don't normally wear this many accessories/jewellery lol. But I wish I did! I love it sm)

Three Fun Facts About Me:

I have never been in a relationship before. Ever. The only experience I have in that department is through other people's stories, not really my own. And by that, I mean that I'm used to watching my friends/people around me getting in and out of relationships, and listening to songs about romance and love and heartbreak... but not really relating to them due to not having any of those experiences myself (but it's alright, tho. It'll happen when it happens! In the meantime, I always have my made-up ships from my writing lol).

My favourite book growing up was "Matilda" by Roald Dahl. I thought Matilda was such a cool girl growing up lol. And lowkey relatable in a lot of ways. No, I wasn't a child genius. But she kind of fits into the archetype that I always found comfort in due to being that kind of person myself. Smart/intellectually curious, bookworm, introverted/independent, genuinely kind and has a heart in spite of being seen as cold by others (another example of this is Huey from Boondocks. Been rewatching some episodes of that show recently and wow... forgot how crazy it was lol. It's good, tho).

Christmas is my favourite holiday! 🎅❄️🎄I do get why some people may dislike it, I guess (like, my younger sister isn't a fan, and she's explained why... I get it. The over-commercialisation of it takes a lot of the "specialness" out of it, you know? Distracts from the actual meaning behind it and all. Plus, it can suck if you're just feeling sad and lonely during a time of celebration for everyone else. Aside from that, technically Easter is more significant if you look at it from the lens of which Christian holiday is most important). But I love the joyfulness and festiveness. Makes me feel all jolly and cosy inside. Plus, I love singing Christmas carols. And presents. And Christmas movies. I just love Christmas lol.

Favorite season:

Autumn. Or fall, as some others prefer to call it. That's when my birthday is!!

(Second place is summer because that's holiday season. Plus, that's when my sister's birthday is.)

No. It'd be cool to be, though. Pretty sure I've mentioned this at least once before, but I want to self-publish the Stephanie Smith saga once I'm done with it.

Introvert or extrovert?

Introvert. 100% introvert lol. I feel most comfortable within myself when I'm by myself. As a kid, I was so painfully shy that the thought of going up to someone and asking a simple question would terrify me lol. As I got older, though, I was super duper lonely, and I realised that I had no real friends because I was keeping myself all closed off in a tight shell, so I'd literally force myself to open up and become more social and make friends with other kids. I practised it, like how you do with any skill. Now it's not so bad. I'd say I can carry a conversation with someone fairly well, even if I don't know them so well.

Favorite meal:

Ooooh.... this is hard. I love most foods lol.

I think I'll go with something a little bit more traditional. I'm Kenyan, and one of my favourite meals that I've grown up eating is chapatti and stew (any kind of stew, or soup. But my mum would usually make this stew with kidney beans. That was a big hit growing up). Haven't had it in almost a year, tho.

Aside from that, I love pizza. And Nandos.

Earlier this year I spent my 31st birthday in the hospital (boo! 👎) I was determined to spend my holidays much better than that. Was doing good, powerful work. Perhaps not thriving, but was at least making it through the days. Then...Christmas eve came in full force with my feeding tube springing leaks. I went to the emergency room at like...2:30 am on Christmas eve, sad that I'd be spending some time there, but at least it was only Christmas eve! The first dr came in and said that they were probably going to have to admit me to the hospital because interventional radiology probably wouldn't be able to get me into get the tube changed until the 26th. I was SO sad. However, Christmas miracle (!!) Someone canceled their appointment sometime that morning and my tube is changed and I was home by 2:30 pm on Christmas eve! Hell yeah! I made it!

Insert next drama here: 9 pm Christmas eve (still; i didn't even last 24 hours) I had to go back to the er because my newly placed feeding tube was falling out, the balloon holding it in place had no fluid in it, and i was in severe pain. This time, however, it was inevitable that I'd be admitted for an unknown amount of time. No one knew for sure when I'd get in for the exchange - definitely not that night, for sure not Christmas day, but /hopefully/ the 26th or shortly after. So, I was admitted. My best friend, who's in the states all the way from Vienna had to visit me in the hospital instead of in my home like planned, I spent Christmas alone in the hospital just like my birthday and I couldn't even enjoy Christmas cookies because "justttt in case they could get me in that day I had to have an empty stomach" it all just was so poopy.

Good news, though, is that I have a tube that for the 1st time in a hot minute doesn't hurt too much:) I've been running feeds since getting it placed - a HUGE feat all on its own - and today, despite the shitshow of a Christmas it was, I'm in a good mood. I'm back home, get kitty snuggles, get to listen to my music again, and have my new cloud light dance around to the beat of that. I got to have caffeine this morning (thank god!!!) And it's kind of sunny out. :) it's not all bad...it's not all bad...

Sweet/Spicy/Savory: Sweet tooth is currently satisfied. Spicy is just kind of a bonus. I think savory is looking good rn.

Three ships: Zukka is the obvious current answer, but I am a habitual multishipper by nature, so here are three ships that I very much enjoy which might not be on your radars!

First is @ablueeyedarcher's fault: How/Piandao. The SS CapyPanda. Are they minor characters who only show up for two or three episodes a piece? Yes. Do I care? No. Let them smooch.

Number two is Jee/Bato. Look. Jee is a tired gay man, He has served his time. Let him get out there and get the good dick. He's not a home wrecker though, he's not gonna get between whatever Bato has going on with Hakoda... unless maybe they invited him to get between them more literally.

Third is Zuko/Kuei. I know the the post canon comics pitted these two sad bitches against each other but listen, here me out. They're both young, inexperienced leaders dropped head first into navigating attempting to deescalate their countries post a century of hostilities with minimal helpful guidance, and they were also both used and betrayed by the father figures they we supposed to trust and rely on. What if when left alone, face to face, they bonded over venting their similar frustrations? What if that bonding turned into an unlikely friendship? What if that friendship tripped and rolled down a rocky hill of something more and they ended up in a secret affair between the heads of two of the world's most powerful states? What if it all came crashing in on them, but they couldn't untangle their very real feelings from their duty as leaders? What then?

First ever ship: Oh snap this is reaching back into Ye Old memory banks here. If I'm being totally honest I think it was the pink and green (later white, much later all the rest of the damn colors) rangers from the original run of the American version of Power Rangers. The internet didn't exist as we know it today so it was just a group of a half-dozen 7-9 year olds G O S S I P I N G on the playground between rounds of pretending to be actual velociraptors.

Last Film: Technically it was me and the rest of the adults post Thanksgiving diner keeping a running background commentary going on the worldbuilding choices in the Paw Patrol Movie that the little kids insisted on watching. Real answer, the last movie I sat down to watch with intention was Across the Spiderverse.

Last thing I Googled: solar chistmas lights. My coworker was complaining that her only outdoor outlet shares a load with an indoor one (which?? rude!) and her partner wouldn't let her put up more Christmas lights. I had to show her. The way her face lit up as she IMMEDIATELY zoomed to Amazon and started filling her cart. Apologies to her poor family and neighbors, but I definitely made her week and possibly her entire New Year.

Currently Reading: Hey did you know that @erisenyo is already releasing stuff for zukki week because she is. you should definitely go read that.

Currently Watching: Rewatching Blue Eye Samurai while spouse watches it for the first time. He's been big into old samurai and wuxia films since I can remember so I'm just sitting here anticipating his reactions to every easter egg and trope call back they've stuffed into this show and also spotting things I missed on the first round.

Currently Consuming: Peppermint mocha and a cheese, egg and sausage tornado. Don't question me.

Currently Craving: My cozy bed. Also a nice big bowl of curry.

Currently Working On: The next chapter of Learn to Carry Love. I'm so so so close to the finish aaargh!

Little Women Ranked

One of my favorite books of all time is Little Women. Last fall I watched and read everything related to the series. Here's a simple ranking of all of that.

The Book (obviously)

Whether you consider the book just Little Women or with Good Wives, there is no deny this is the absolute best version of the story.

2. Little Women (1978)

This is, in my opinion, the best adaptation of the novel. The characters felt real and accurate and it was just a delight. It had so much heart. Also I am a Greer Garson as Aunt March stan. William Shatner did his absolute best at Fritz. I just adore this version. I will say that I am a sucker for tv movies though.

3. Little Women (2017)

I love this version. In accuracy, it's not always the best (especially character wise) and the third episode feels very rushed at times, but I still love it. I'm absolutely obsessed with Meg and John in this version. Meg and Beth are my profile picture lol. I just really enjoy this version.

4. Little Women (1994)

In terms of movies, this one is the best. This is the one I recommend to everyone and despite my (minimal) issues with it, I still watch it all the time. It's just so lovely. Also this one just has a more distinctly Christmas feel than any of the others.

5. Little Women (1933)

While not my favorite, I still enjoyed watching this version. Katherine Hepburn played a great Jo and I would love to watch this again sometime.

6. Little Women (1949)

This has the same script as the 1933 version, however, I am not a fan of a few small changes made, such as Beth being younger than Amy. June Allyson is not my favorite Jo, which also lowers this one slightly. Margaret O'Brien played an amazing Beth and was definitely the best thing about this version. I also just recently listened to the Lux Radio Theater adaptation of this movie and it just solidified my opinions of this being a mid adaptation.

7. Little Women (2019)

The Most controversial version on this list, I cannot say that I enjoy it. It makes so many changes from the novel, that it honestly makes me mad. However, this one places so high on the list do to it's watchability. Every other entry under this one I would never watch a second time. This one at least has the benefit of being high quality. Plus all my friends love this one (none of them have ever read the book and it makes me sad), so if I try hard enough I can separate this version from the book and at least watch a decent movie (although it is hard).

8. Little Women (1970)

I wanted to like this version, I really did, it was so extremely book accurate, but it was also really boring. This does have the most book accurate portrayal of Laurie in my opinion, though.

9. Little Women (2018)

This just overall was not that good. Jo was very mean and aggressive and Laurie was kind of creepy, in my opinion. I also disliked that this was made by a Christian company and did not include any of the Christian themes and statements made throughout the novel.

10. Little Women Meg's Story and Jo's Story

This two parter was hard to watch. It made it so love story heavy, and was also just not good quality or fun to watch. Everything was so rushed. I did like the focus on Meg and John in the first part though. I also enjoyed the random 1950 commercials throughout the version on youtube.

11. The March Sisters at Christmastime

This was just bad. Nothing really redeemable about it. It was a very hard watch.

These were some adaptations that I watched, but find hard to rank, due to them not being movies or tv shows.

Little Women (1958) Soundtrack

This is the soundtrack for the the 1958 CBS tv musical, which is not technically lost media, but is not available to the general public. The first half of the soundtrack is songs from the special, and the second half is covers of some other songs from musicals or were popular at the time. The songs are quite fun, but what I hear from reports of what happens in the special, it is not accurate to the novel at all.

Little Women (2005) musical

I am not really a fan of Sutton Foster, nor am I a fan of this musical. It is a classic case of not understanding Jo March, her writing, and her relationship with Professor Bhaer.

Little Women Ballet

This was fun to watch. I don't know much about ballet, so I cannot really judge it. If I remember correctly, this is just an adaptation of the first half of the novel.

Tales of Little Women

Little Women (1981)

These are both anime adaptations of the novel. I only watched the first episode of each, and from what I know they kind of make up plot lines. I enjoyed them for what they were, but I will probably not watch them again.

I unfortunately did not watch the Little Women Opera or the March Family Letters as Operas and vlog series are not really my thing, but maybe I will get around to them.

Anyway, this concludes my ranking of Little Women. If you see this please let me know your thoughts on any of these adaptations.

Favorite title you used honestly, no favorite as of yet. All the titles I've used come from song lyrics that are super royai coded/important to me, so I like them all. That answer could definitely change in the future though!

If you use song lyrics, which artist’s songs did you pull from the most? most recently, taylor swift (hopeless, breathless, burning slow), but also banks (cause i'm lovesick and you're all that matters to me anyway - she's SO GOOD for angsty love songs). Lyrics are so, so important to me. I have a ~300 song royai playlist (which I'm going to slim down and post here at some point) that I listen to constantly, lol, and a huge notes file on my phone filled with potential song lyric titles. I have a music degree and it's literally so important to my writing process aajsaksjljasjl.

What work took you the longest to write? definitely chapter 1 of hopeless, breathless, burning slow. it wasn't the writing that was the issue - it was the editing. I really dragged my feet on it, and could have had that thing out like 2 weeks ago. 🤦‍♀️

How many WIP’s do you have in your docs for next year? oh god. my wip's currently include: - chapter 2 of hopeless, breathless, burning slow - sequel to cause i'm lovesick (I ain't even ashamed) - a christmas fic - angsty, hurt/comfort, character exploration, ishval restoration multi-chaptered fic (I'm REALLY excited to work on this!!! yay angst) - roy and riza returning to her old father's house post-cannon and STUFF HAPPENS, fluff, hurt/comfort, etc (also really excited for this one! i've been daydreaming about it for MONTHS. today was a pretty good day ! i woke up at 5:10 (however i was very tired because i went to sleep around midnight </3) and i put on my outfit (it was pink ofc) and did my makeup and hair as usual. i didn't get to eat breakfast at home (i never do), it's sad :( OH WELL, i just ate at college anyway. the journey took around an hour but it's okay because i always have headphones with me so it's good !

i ended up skipping my first lesson (criminology) OH YEAH my chosen courses are film studies, media and criminology. it was kinda boring at first, just scrolling through my phone and listening to music but i did end up talking to a new person today ! he kind of just approached me out of nowhere and we started talking for like an hour. he seemed nice. it just shocked me because it contrasts so much with my high school experience. i wonder, am i approachable ?

soon after, my friends came along and we just hung out during my 4-hour break. we went outside and walked around the area and just talked about random things. it was really nice ! i got some fresh air after being inside for too long LOL.

after that, i went to my film class (which has the majority of my friendgroup in the class EEE still upset my best friend isn't </3). it was soooo hot in that classroom that i can still remember it. i had to take off my coat :/ although it doesn't matter much because the lesson went by quite quickly. HOWEVER, i did have a meeting about my attendance and effort with work, both in class and at home. it actually went well, even though i got put on a report card until christmas :( IT'S OKAY THOUGH because my dad bought me a milkshake afterwards. i ate spaghetti for dinner and it was nice. right now i'm just rotting in bed, writing this while staring at my hello kitty plushie. it's so old, i think i got it when i was REALLY young. good to know that little me was a hello kitty enthusiast as much as i am now LOL

anyways, i need to go feed my guinea pig and then take a bath. i'm wondering whether or not i should light some candles and have a bubble bath...hmm...i'm not sure I'LL SEE but until next time, here's a little song rec :)

Walking on water: pretty groovy. I was surprised to immediately start nodding my head like that once it started, but changbin rap near the intro.... 😇😇😇 yessir yessir they did this for me. Tbh it does give more intro vibes than title track, but I've been praying for skz intros to be implemented back into their albums, so this is less of a complaint and more of a general comment(?) Also skz please give us longer title tracks (and songs in general) in later albums like why is this so short.....

Bounce back: I would say it wasn't what I thought it would sound like, but tbh I forgot what the mashup version sounded like, so ig that's irrelevant. I mentioned not seeing wow as a title track, but tbh I can't see this one as one either?? This is just a title-less album to me ig. Pretty alr song.

That's actually fun that you make an Easter treat at Christmas though. Mix things up. Keeps life interesting. I will certainly look for them. I'm not a baker at all but I love eating desserts lol.

I watch a lot of live things too online. There are a couple of Temple things on YouTube from when they toured in 2016 and I watch them quite often. I'm so glad Jeff & Mike & Stone got to do that with Chris considering what was to come. You can tell how much those guys all loved and respected each other and I think that's why I love that record so much. It was made for a sad reason but it must have been quite cathartic. What's your fav Temple song? I love you Angel of Fire. It's so beautiful. Audioslave is great too. You could tell Chris was having fun and just wanted to be creative with different people.

Snow is not my favorite thing no lol. I mean it's pretty at times and where I live genuinely looks like a Christmas card for months but it's horrible for driving in and I get nervous. Though I do enjoy snow shoeing with my bff when the snow is down and it's safe to do so.

Oh my! Yes Fourth of July is amazing! I can only imagine how intense that song was to see live. As for my fav?! That's a hard one. That's a 3 way tie between 4th/Spoonman/Fell on Black Days. But there's not a bad song on the album truthfully.

I could definitely recommend some PJ songs. Some of my favs in their lesser known catalogue would be.. Fatal; Alone; Hard to Imagine; Wash; Footsteps. That's just to name a few lol. Funny story about Footsteps (that you may know as a Chris fan) but it's the same music as Times of Trouble. Chris and Eddie both took Stones music and wrote 2 different but both fantastic songs. I love that. Of the two Footsteps is my fav.

Oh I don't think I've heard that Christmas song? I'll have to check it out. There's so many good ones. It's a tradition in my family to listen to the Boney M Christmas album. It's so good and always puts me in the spirit. I like the classics. Little Drummer Boy. I adore the version that Bing Crosby and David Bowie have that combines LDB and Peace on Earth. It's so beautiful. One of my non fav non traditional Christmas songs that most probably don't think of as a Christmas song is Fairytale of New York by the Pogues.

Omg yes angel of fire is so pretty! But I've gotta say that Say Hello 2 Heaven (though maybe kinda "basic" 😭) has to be my favorite. What're your favorite live shows? Mine have got to be Ratm at Pinkpop '93, which is the most well known one but it's just legitimately SO GOOD. Like FISTFUL OF STEEL IN THAT SHOW is probably my favorite performance of any song ever :0. And my other fav is probably Sg live 1989 at Rhino records, because I find it to be a really good unfiltered look at the band in their earlier years.

I get the feeling that every now and again there has to come a band that gets accused of being a bad copy of LZ. I find it kinda funny, given that LZ never were 100% original themselves - it's near impossible to make music with no influences.

I usually just doodle sad old men lately for some reason haha - but I've been unhappy with the rigidity of my art for a long time, so I've been getting into more abstract art to loosen it all up a bit. For video games, I've just been absolutely blown away by Disco Elysium - I just finished it for the first time, and that game is a literal work of art! I'm not entirely sure what you mean by whether I want something in the same style, I'm sorry... But yeah, I like going to thrift stores and charity shops on a little treasure hunt.

I haven't replied to you in so long, I feel so ashamed. I've had a busy week and promised myself every single day to come here but I didn't have time. Sorry!

How was the first week of December? What's the weather like where you are? Our weather left much to be desired since the first week of December was more like autumn lol.

Jack is one year old! I found him so tiny when he was abandoned on the road. OMG, I saw the photo Amy sent, Krampusz is so cute!

Oh The Book of Taliesyn is an amazing album. Deep Purple's first singer was a cool dude! I think I have too many favorites among their albums haha! At least in each line-up I highlight something special. But perhaps Come Taste The Band, Burn and In Concert w/ the London Orchestra (yes, it's not exactly a numbered album but how cool they sounded with an orchestra..!)

Yeah, that's funny! But as my friend said, LZ were a copy of everything good hehe. The funniest thing is that because Kingdom Come was compared to LZ, the lead singer of the band once said that he had never heard of Led Zeppelin lol.

Oh, I hope I can see your drawings when we get to know each other after Christmas because it sounds really interesting! Disco Elysium wow!! I really wanted to play this game, I often watch game walkthroughs on YouTube and this game is amazing! About one style, I most likely meant as belonging to a certain era. In our city, there is a consignment shop that is associated only with 90s fashion and nothing more. Do you have a favorite thing from the thrift shop?

In my collection, I think I value my glam metal vinyls most of all, which are very hard to find, or limited editions on colored vinyl. I'm not at home now, but as soon as I get home, I will pin a photo of my favorite things in the collection. I am also absolutely proud of my Deep Purple vinyl. This is a recording of a concert with Tommy Bolin Live at Long Beach Arena in 1976 on three LPs.

I have been playing bass for 2 years and guitar for a year. My main problem is the lack of progress on the guitar. I do not have enough perseverance to work on some important points, for example, I still do not know how to play barre chords lol. And I really hope that you will have a good teacher!

Oh, that's okay. I think favorites appear over time. Unfortunately, I can't say that some guitarists are good in technique, but I like them. For example, Jeff LaBar from Cinderella. Thanks to him, I started playing, he is very charismatic. And also blues musician Johnny Winter, he is incomparable.

the dream I had which is now cannon in my heart

(The only way this is even vaguely related to what we've been doing is that it started when Sylvie got sick in the way that things like that get you thinking about what's important etc)

But anyway, the dream was about Maggie and her namesake nan because I vibe that Johnny visits her (first at home in her caravan where she's getting cared for by his sisters and then in the home she gets put in eventually when her Alzheimer's gets worse) every week like a dutiful son and his wife and kids only go on special occasions when they've gotta so Maggie goes with him from when her nan is in the home and she can (because she's the daughter of Ali and she'd insist regardless of however young she may be)

So like I said, when Sylvie is a sick kid she decides that she wants to see her nan more like oh I really should while I still have her and she sneaks and goes whenever she can and the staff let her even though she's only 12 because they recognise her from coming with her dad and she's doing no harm (plus jali will say it's okay when they inevitably find out, even though they don't necessarily know how often she is going, including when she's supposed to be at school (because like her mum she's a wild child so nobody is automatically assuming that's where she is cos she could be off anywhere doing anything and often is/was lol)

A wholesome time is being had despite the nan being deep in her dementia and not able to talk or know her/basically confined to a chair and as time passes a bed, because nevertheless this gal chats away and they look at photos or she sings to her or they have lunch together and she helps feed her, does her hair and paints her nails etc etc all the cute things, sometimes she just draws the nan while they listen to music (which is foreshadowing and handy for later when her nan dies and she gives all these drawings to her dad, including ones she did of her when she was younger from said photos they look at)

Years pass how they will (it was unspecified in the dream, she got older than 12 but she was still a teen idk) and sometimes as the nan got worse she didn't want long visits or was asleep when Maggie came so she ended up making friends with most of the carers + other residents (she's her mother's daughter and makes friends easily) and I've always vibed she likes making clothes especially costumes so picture her throwing a lil Halloween party for the residents who are able to go and making Christmas decs and singing Christmas songs and hiding chocolate eggs all around this home at Easter etc etc, all the while only the peeps closest to her even know she does any of this cos she isn't shouting about it, basically she's a full time volunteer without thinking of it like that

But of course, the day comes when her nan dies (again it was kinda unspecified in the dream but she ended up going into hospital dying basically and poor Mags couldn't go and say her goodbyes because there is so much extended gypsy fam always visiting that she couldn't even sneak when one of them wasn't there and it was really sad*) so she stops visiting the home obvs cos she's really sad but runs into one of the younger carers coincidentally one day when she's in town and they have a lil catch up and she's like we all 'we miss you' + '[one of the residents she made friends with] is having a 90th birthday party, you should come' so she did go and it slayed and she decides to come back and keep visiting again, thinking she'll just go like once a week or every so often and it'll be chill but DUH she ends up going almost as often as she did before, doing all kinds of different shit with different residents, having a whale of a time and living her best life (p.s this did not happen in the dream but as I'm writing this down I'm thinking of the potential for her to get with someone's grandson if we wanted a ship for her, like in that book, cos you know these old ladies would all be trying to pimp their fam out lol)

Long story short, she kept it up and they offered her a job when she finished school which she took and I love that because it's not something she planned (like her mother she's into all sorts of things) but it's just a job she falls into and really enjoys * There was a whole part in the dream about the funeral btw, she (and Ali) did get to go but even though all they were trying to do was pay their respects and serve a lewk, the gypsy fam were SO mad and didn't want them there because it was a full blown traditional affair despite the nan not being a gypsy as we now know, Johnny was sticking up for her while also trying to stop things kicking off but ultimately his dad put his foot down and told her (and Ali) to leave cos he didn't want the drama and felt like he was being shown up as he's clearly on the side of the gypsy fam about it and tries to pretend Maggie and Django (who wasn't there) don't exist

They left cos not trying to cause a scene actually but just before they did there was a whole heartbreaking moment where Maggie said to her granddad in gypsy lingo something like sorry for your loss (idk if they have their own equivalent of things they like to say but if they do it was that vibe because she put her all into it) trying to be nice and respectful and saying it with ALL the feeling in the world cos she loved her nan so much by this point but everyone was simply fuming and didn't take it the right way

So this was when she decided to change her name because not only a fuck you all he's my dad too but fuck you all I'm gonna have my nan's whole name cos she's my bestie and ILY and y'all didn't even visit her unless you were forced

the hercules pin i was looking for was from this years disney arcade pin collection! i love the design of it, and fortunately it wasn't difficult to find at all. and as for the copyright issue with tarzan, i actually knew about that but somehow it never crossed my mind to wonder how it worked with there being tarzan merch at the parks... i'm a kingdom hearts fan, and there was a tarzan world in the very first game back in 2002 which was never featured again even though the majority of other disney worlds, including all others from the first game, have reappeared over the years. there are even flashbacks and such in other games where we'll see all the worlds the main character sora has visited, except for tarzan, which always made me a little sad. i've heard that the copyright issues related to tarzan are what's most likely causing that.

oh wow, i didn't know that about the festival of the arts, though!! i went on steve's instagram to look for the pieces you mentioned and they're gorgeous, i'm really glad to see those 3 movies getting that kind of appreciation.

ooh i see! i always keep up with disney's upcoming releases as much as i can, so i definitely was interested in frozen before i saw it too. but i think the thing that made me really fall in love with the movie was seeing the scene where anna chose to jump in front of hans to try and stop him from killing elsa, in spite of the fact that she herself was dying and was about to be saved by kristoff. i had already strongly connected with elsa and loved her character, but that particular moment just felt so unique and powerful to me.

like you, i also have trouble picking just one favorite thing about the movies i love most, but i think my love for anna and elsa both individually and together as sisters is probably the main thing that keeps me coming back to frozen! i actually do think the movie has some flaws, but i've still never stopped loving it for the past 10 years. and as for beauty and the beast, honestly, it's just such a beautiful movie that i love nearly everything about it! but i guess one of my many favorite things about it has to be the music. in my opinion howard ashman was a lyricist like no other, alan menken's score is brilliant, and the voice actors are perfect. i could listen to the soundtrack multiple times in a row without skipping a single song and not get tired of it. also, i'm sending this rather late at night when it's technically already christmas for me--so, merry christmas to you if you celebrate it, and if you don't then i just hope you have a wonderful day! and, again, i hope it's not a problem for me to be messaging you on anon like this haha.

I'm so happy you were able to get your Hercules pin. That was such a great series, but I think the Hercules was the best design.

Sadly the copyright issue has been a pain for some time now. I wanna say they had the rights to their version of Tarzan until 2005 or so. After that, from what I've read, there was a lot of effort they had to go to to do anything with Tarzan. Basically had to get everything approved by ERB Estate, and I'm sure had to pay a certain amount of royalties. I remember a few years ago Steve Thompson mentioning in one of his post that the copyright was wholly with the ERB Estate, but didn't elaborate if there was any hope of new merch. I don't know if the parks thing is recent or has always been. Of course, like all businesses, there's always the possibility they never communicated that loop hole with the designers, lol.

I have yet to play Kingdom Hearts (not really into games and have nothing to play it on any anyway), but what I've seen of it looks amazing!

I always look forward to the Festival of the Arts, there's always so many amazing pieces released. There was actually a Tarzan one done by Brett Owens back in 2021 Would love to go someday… if only it weren't so expensive. If you get a chance to check out some of the other artists, I highly recommend it. Some artists on instagram I know are going are Dylan Bonner, Yesenia Moises, Ann Shen, Ryan Riller, and Ashley Taylor. Dylan and Yesenia are even doing Anastasia pieces!!!! Never dreamed that could happen!

The Festival also features food and performing arts. They have a Disney on Broadway concert series, and Josh Strickland (the original Tarzan on Broadway) will be performing again this year!

I love your reasons for loving Frozen. I completely agree, the moment with Anna was so powerful… best part of the movie!

Howard Ashman was amazing, one of the best storytellers ever. He had such an incredible gift, and the world is a poor place without him. I definitely get on the soundtrack, Alan did such a fantastic job setting the tone/mood for the film.

i was a little confused on the hanoi rocks thing until i remembered time zones & it's probably still the 8th wherever you are! i haven't watched any live performances of theirs, i can't seem to do that for any groups i like for some reason? theres one single faster pussycat live cover i listened to from last years glamfest in my country that i listened to, but only because it was an inxs song that i really connect with

i do have some favourite hanoi songs though: don't follow me, a million miles away, cutting corners, & underwater world to name a few

the few artists they have already announced for glamfest are jetboy, janet gardner, the cruel intentions (all international), and ablaze, sisters doll (local acts). i'm hoping for michael monroe as he is in japan the week before which would make travel easy and would line up with the hints we've been given! i'm also hoping for firehouse and also a newer aussie band called southern river band who i actually saw earlier this year, they're awesome!

i used to say i hate summer and to a degree i kiiinda still do? like i don't like australian summer weather and the heat BUT i kinda have to let up on that and realise that i end up being the happiest at this time of the year and somehow all my stress happens around the middle of the year (and my birthday and christmas both happen in summer so....)

Hmm... three days ago while watching a movie. I always cry at the end of a movie if it's good!

Not really any but dance. I also like swimming and wall/rock climbing but I haven't had any time to do those recently :/

Definitely happy endings! I cannot watch scary movies because my imagination runs wild after watching even just a second of it, which results into me being paranoid and jumpy lol. Unless it's daylight horror, in which case I would still be anxious after it but not as much.

Hmm... I have always loved drawing and I think I'm good at it. So maybe that. I also have a pretty good ear for music but I wouldn't say I have perfect pitch or can recognize every note, since I have never studied music or played an instrument. I have always liked to sing but I'm not too good at it since I don't actually know how singing works, but I think I can sing the right notes lol.

Well I don't remember that moment so it's hard to say... I think I just emerged from under the ground.

Art, such as drawing and painting. I dance, wonder in nature and listen to music alot. I've had art block for a few months now and I'm only starting to get out of it now. I have a little art journal that's empty, I got it last Christmas, so that's my next project.

Not anymore, sadly. I used to have three guinea pigs and I miss them dearly. My family also had an aquarium when I was little so we had fish. I want to get pets when the time is right tho, I look at cat adopting sites almost every week and I already have names for my future pets hehe.

Last Sunday. I don't think it was for any particular reason, I just had a headache and was feeling down.

No.

4. What sports do you play/have played?

I played a bit of a football as a kid and a bit of volleyball for school. I also did range shooting in my tween years.

5. Do you use sarcasm?

Quite a lot. I've been trying to cut back and be a bit more genuine, but my habit for being sarcastic and my generally low moods have given me a bit of Resting Bitch Voice, so people don't always pick up on it.

6. What's the first thing you notice about people?

Facial shape I think. Before I learn someone's name I generally remember them by the shape of their jaw and cheeks.

7. What's your eye color?

Blue, but it's a kinda greyish blue.

8. Scary movies or Happy endings

I like scary movies with happy endings. Give me protagonists who face down with the worst of humanity or the nasties of the world and come out alive and swinging, if not a bit traumatized.

I'm told I have a way with words. In general I don't believe in talent in the "innate skill" way though.
