Hello Sarah sorry to bother you. I'm a new fan kinda but I'm done with watching all the firstkhao dramas (together and individual) but tbh I'm kinda lost on how I will get to know them better. I have no idea about their irl personalities that much. Maybe you can give a little introduction for me if it's not too much of a bother? Also like how they met and why are they doing so many projects together? And are they good friends irl too (my friend told me a lot of time pair actors don't really get along with each other which is why I got curious about their dynamic) Sorry if these questions are a bit dumb I'm altogether very new in bl fandoms so don't have a lot of ideas.

Both First and Khaotung started working for GMMTV back in 2018. I’m pretty sure talent agents simply slid into their DMs, so there was no formal audition process, but I could be wrong about that. They were both in university at the time. I’m not quite sure what they were doing that attracted the attention of the talent agents. I know First had been in at least one commercial prior, but I don’t believe Khaotung had done any acting. He had, however, had a picture go viral because he’s just so stinkin’ adorable. I think maybe this one?

Either way, they ended up in an acting workshop together right after they joined. Khaotung talks about how he didn’t like First at first because he was too friendly and talkative, but I think that must have only lasted for like a day because it was during this same workshop where he discovered that his heart beats to the sound of First’s name—“FirFirFir”—and yes, that is a real thing that he has admitted out loud on multiple occasions. They have been best friends ever since.

From there, the two of them began to act in individual projects—mostly BLs—and although I have no proof of this, I am entirely convinced that they were playing a long con to get themselves partnered together. They did way more fanservice before they were partnered than they do now. Feel free to watch this live from 2020 where they alternate between staring lovingly in each other's eyes and just outright flirting for an hour straight.

Look, they’re smart boys. They knew that their best path to success in this industry was to be in a fixed pair and they wanted that pair to be each other. How do I know? Because these two adorable idiots were showing up to events in matching outfits.

This picture was taken in January 2021 when Tonhon Chonlatee was actively airing! There's a picture from this same event of them with Podd, who Khao was paired with, and Podd looks like the odd man out.

They were finally paired together for The Eclipse in 2022 and spent the entire press tour either talking about how excited they were to finally work together or crying about the possibility that they might never be able to work together again. I would highly recommend you watch The Eclipse special episode if you haven’t already. In it, First talks about how there was one scene where Khao wasn’t supposed to cry but he kept crying anyway because First was crying and he cared about First so much. 

And speaking of crying, if you want to watch a compilation of FK crying about how much they love each other (and other things!), you can find that here.

One thing I would recommend if you want to get to know FK better is to watch a bit of Safehouse Season 4. It’s unscripted, so you’ll get a sense of their personalities, but First was also in an arm cast at the time, so you’ll get to watch Khao dote on him for seven days straight.

Oh and you have to watch this! If you ever see people talking about the voices in First’s head, that's why.

Obviously, we can never truly know what goes on behind closed doors for any of these BL couples, but I feel pretty confident in saying that FirstKhao are genuine besties. They literally do everything together. You can find a collection of some of their lovestagram pics here although there are so many more now. It never stops.

Khao to First: As you grow up, you will meet many new friends. Leave them and stay with me.

I’m wracking my brain for anything else that feels important for a new fan to know and am coming up blank, but I’m sure I’ll probably think of something right after I post this. They’re both just super sweet individuals who have never been involved in any controversy and I think what people love most about them is just how much they care about each other. They’ve got that whole platonic soulmate thing going on and we're all super jealous.

so @manogirl, @inventedfangirling, and @sharingfandoms all tagged me in the thai ql favorites tag game (thanks friends!), and i wasn't sure if i had enough to say about shows other than bad buddy to do it, but i figure you can't ever talk about bbs too much amirite

favorite thai ql: yeah so it's bad buddy, surprise surprise. i watched it all in the course of like 36 hours in february 2022, not long after it had ended, and it has been thoroughly stuck in my soul ever since. i've watched it so many times and in so many pieces that i couldn't even guess at a number. i've posted...uh...200k words of bad buddy fic in the past year and half? the obsession is real. it's just such a perfect mix of antagonistic and silly and tense and sweet and heartbreaking and healing that i keep going back to it over over. i love its narrative arc, and i love its little details, and i love all the ways we get to keep reinterpreting it over and over in fanworks. and i love the people i've met in the fandom, which is really hard to separate from the show! i've made really close and awesome friends here, which seems extremely fitting tbh. so yeah anyway i like that show a lot

favorite pairing: seems obvious given my previous answer, but patpran, followed closely by inkpa! idk i just think they're both neat and extremely in love

most underrated actor: JENNIE PANHAN I NEED HER IN EVERYTHING OKAY

favorite character: parakul siridechawat. he's just so in love you guys, even when (he thinks) it's hopeless. i love a character who pines. my sexuality is pining actually and pran's might be too (jk i love pran for many many many reasons but this is the one i felt like talking about today)

favorite side character: i think it has to be a tie between mae from 3wbf and longtae from a tale of thousand stars...two very different characters! i love mae in all her complexity, her efforts to be good and kind and empathetic that are interrupted by the death of the one person who was good and kind and empathetic towards her, and her search for revenge once he's gone, and then her ultimate realization that she needs to stop the cycle of violence even if it takes one more act of violence herself. meanwhile i love longtae because he is sweet and funny and adorable and such a good friend to literally everyone in pha phun dao and also it's khao, how could i not?

favorite scene in a ql: so if i type the letter "y" in my browser, the first search result is the youtube link to bad buddy episode 5 part 4/4. does that answer your question

favorite line in a ql: i thought i was going to struggle with this one but it came to me instantly: uncle tong from bad buddy saying, "you might think one man can't change the world. but i want you to know that this world can't change someone like me either." have i mentioned i am both queer and work in climate activism for a living

most anticipated ql (& why): 23.5 degrees the series!!!! i was already one million percent there for milklove but the recent confirmation of viewjune is just like the icingest of icing on the cake. i'm so fucking stoked you guys

i'm sorry i'm not going to answer the question on guilty pleasure series because like @manogirl i do not believe in the concept, nor the ones on healthiest vs. toxic relationships because i simply do not feel like it <3

most underrated series: hmm, most of the thai ql series i've seen are too well-known/watched to count for this. like would we call gap the series underrated? probably not, right? maybe...triage? but i personally felt like triage got pretty uneven in the second half...idk this is the problem with having mostly stuck to gmmtv huh

I want to get your opinion on the conversation going around that p’oaf doesn’t know how to write flawed characters? In mc it was advertised that wen was gonna cheat with Jim but they changed it. I’ve seen a lot of people compare him to p’jojo as he is able to write flawed and problematic (realistic) characters and still have the audience like and sympathize with them.

so I touched up on it when people were sending me their controversial opinions & some said they didn't think 1000 stars was that good, and I had responded that while I love the show I can't really see it as an ultimate favorite bc it doesn't really take any risk & the characters are practically perfect. so I would definitely agree with the general sentiment that p'aof struggles to write flawed characters, which is not great, especially considering that imo one of thai dramas' best aspect is the complex & flawed characters. I also consider p'jojo as the only thai director I'm a fan of, so not to drive a wedge between him & p'aof who are great friends and entered the industry at the same time, but if I have to choose I'll always choose p'jojo bc he has actually boundary pushing concepts & also far more diverse queer representation and I don't think anyone can argue with that. but that being said, I'm not sure wen was ever written to cheat with jim, though? unless it was explicitly said during gmmtv 2022, I always saw mix pulling away from first's kiss in the mock trailer as a sign that they were not together anymore, but anyways. tbh I'm glad that p'aof is getting some criticism bc I feel like he's way too idolized in the bl fandom & I don't find that healthy.

I’m going through your “GMMTV 2022: BORDERLESS — AN HONEST PERSONAL OPINION” posts and I noticed there’s no part 5. 😕 (At least, not one I could find in the tags… 🤔)

Secondly, one thing that stood out to me was significant amount of “star/moon/sky” themed titles. e.g.: The Eclipse, UMG (I think it counts 🙃), Star&Sky, Moonlight Chicken… Another title I heard a lot of people about is You’re My Sky (which is apparently about basketball??)…and the Philippines have also released a couple of shows with “star” in the title (Coming from the Star [2021] and Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star [2022]). I found Oh! My Sunshine Night, which is scheduled for later this year. And a project called I Feel You Linger in the Air (this legitimately sounds very interesting btw). (Thank God it seems 2Moons3 has been postponed indefinitely! 🙏) Last year, we already had (not all GMMTV, and not al Thai): AToTS, To My Star, Fish upon the Sky, and I Promised You the Moon. So what’s the deal with BL series and an endless reservoir of celestial metaphors? 🤨

I’m probably going a little overboard here, but I’m hereby begging GMMTV the BL industry: please come up with any other (less cliché) titles for your shows in the future. Show some originality and stop it with the celestial themes! Please. 🥺 This costed me way to much time om MDL to research this, but I’m sure we can agree it’s a lingering pattern. 😆

I have no freaking idea what's the deal with the celestial titles tbh but I'm a big simp for stars so it doesn't really bother me that much... I must agree with you though, I would definitely like to see more originality~

P.S. I hate you has a lot of potential to be a Mon-Tue lakorn, it's falling into the concept they've been using for Mon-Tue lakorns.

Now, I did watch the first 2 seasons of PLL and then I dropped because it got a bit... You know...

Thai lakorns are on another lever of drama though... For example I'm currently watching The Player and it's complicated, you have to pay attention to literally EVERYTHING. I've never felt embarrassed by watching steamy scenes in my entire life but somehow P'Jojo made me experience that in The Player. It gives me a different feeling from all the western shows I've watched.

I'm going to use my thai friend's words to conclude this.

Never trust thai people. We are insane. We like the plot twists. Nothing is what it seems.

And to be honest, the more I get into thai shows, the more it seems like he's right...

I knew I'd be obsessed with this show, but somehow I'm even more obsessed than I thought??? like since sunday there hasn't been AN HOUR when I haven't thought of not me... that's literally how fucking invested & not chill at all about it I am lmao. frankly I don't think I've been this obsessed with a show EVER, even theory of love, 3 will be free & itsay didn't have me in such a chokehold oicidsuchd :') anyways the first episode was so fucking excellent, and I know FOR A FACT it's gonna get even better!!! like the fact that only episode 2 is already a fucking mission to burn down a politician's house???? HUH??? INSANITY. like it already feels like the fucking climax of the show & I can't. handle. it!!! so anyways, frankly I might be a little too positive about it, but I think there's very, very, VERY slim chances that this show will be disappointing. it's literally been rewritten since 2018 with offgun signed to the project!!! AND p'nuchie is an insanely talented director who is absolutely perfect for the project. she's invested so much time & effort in the show to make it great for us, I doubt she'd fumble the bag tbh. besides, gmmtv tend to quite involved in making their hit shows (which are almost always bl) at LEAST good, if not incredible. so I don't think gmmtv would've approved the project if they didn't believe in it, even less so with their golden children offgun as leads. so at the very worst, if this show does end up disappointing, it will still be a good show. there's now way they'd fumble the bag so much we'd end up hating it. at the very best though, which is what I'm hoping for, this show will be the most incredible one gmmtv has ever released, and a one-of-a-kind, trailblazer of a bl show. as of now I'm betting on the latter option :)
