Specifically like, if white bodied people (reminder that white-passing people are still POC though!) want to change their name to a name that's for example traditionally Japanese, etc. (I'm not just pointing out that this "only applies to Asian names", this is just a common example!).

Because of white privilege, white people most likely won't know what POC or SOC (systems of color) go through. People with less-white sounding names get racially profiled and/or deal with their names constantly being mispronounced to the point of changing their name legally to sound more white, or adopting an "English name". Misty should have studied law instead of spending her days bullying old people. She was great as a lawyer. She won that trial. Also, exposing Shauna like that? bringing out her baby in front of everybody? I was scared for her.

People say that Shauna bullied them to vote against Ben, but I think there's more to say about the fact that they followed her. Like, Gen put her hand up because her best friend situationship asked her to?

Shauna is my favorite character so maybe I'm unbiased but calling her a monster is crazy to me. I'd list all she went through and why she has so much anger inside of her but I don't give a fuck anymore. Do you think I'm going to hate Shauna because of Ben? Fuck that bitch.

The fact that Nat clearly hates being in charge but she is still doing it because they chose her. Poor babygirl, she was clearly distraught during the whole trial. Calling to vote 300 times and then letting one of the jurors bully the others into voting against the accused without calling a recess or declaring a mistrial. She is just a girl, please.

I got to see Jackie two episodes in a row. I'm getting spoiled. For me, the scene didn't feel underwhelming but I get what people would said that after last week's episode. Also, we had been expecting the scene since the first teaser, and I cheered when I saw that freezer.

Btw, they are terrible leaders and they are doomed, you know why? Because they let their captain die. Jackie would have run that trial like the Navy.

I was so scared when the episode started and I saw Jeff talking Shauna into doing something. I thought he was going ¿g to be the main character in the episode. I don't know whose idea was to put Misty and Shauna together but I love it.

Taissa was really going to kill that man to keep Van alive she didn't gaf. She is a romantic I guess.

And my girl Lottie. I was so shocked I didn't expect that this early damn. And that image of her dead body was fucking scary.

The big theory is that one of the women killed her because they were alone for a while, but that is insane. I just don't want them to kill each other. The only one who would make sense it's the other Tai who tried to talk to her and sacrificed her for Van or something like that, and that would ruin her character immensely.

But they didn't care about Misty killing Nat, so who knows.

For the people saying this is bad writing, you'll fucking insane. The reason we are watching the adult timeline is to see that they are fucked and they're always going to be. They unleashed something in that wilderness that is going to hunt them forever. I do believe they all going to die before the show ends. Yellowjackets have been a hopeless show since the beginning because you see them trying to survive in that wilderness just to have a terrible life outside.

As a Once upon a time survivor I have to acknowledge that Jennifer Morrison directed this episode. She did a good job. Lottie died and Taivan didn't kiss but ok.

neoptolemus is so... ugh i did not care for him at all until i started writing senses and then suddenly he became one of my favourites. neo is typically written as very abrasive with a short-fuse. he's very arrogant in his abilities, but like achilles, that arrogance is earned as he's written as a very good fighter. i think he should be written as very emotionally stunted—he doesn't understand other people's emotions but he also doesn't understand his own. this could be hilarious to me in a modern au because that man just does not understand anything that anyone says to him. he should have a resting bitch face. he always looks angry and he probably is angry. his self-esteem should be crazy wacky like he should be constantly telling people "i am the best and you are nothing compared to me" but at the same time, he should be constantly afraid of disappointing people. neo's characterization is really interesting bc most of the myths portray him as being needlessly brutal, but then you have ones by sophocles or euripides who portray him as actually having a lot of remorse for what he does and only does them because he thinks he has to. i think you could have a lot of fun deciding which of these characterizations you want to lean into.

telemachus is, to put it in the simplest words possible, a brat. he's very pessimistic and he's convinced everything sucks. basically in a modern au, he is your typical 16 year old going through an emo phase. i like to write him as very emotionally intelligent. he knows exactly what to say to piss someone off and he won't hesitate to do so. his favourite hobby is pushing at people's insecurities and seeing how they react. he also has a temper and he's very emotionally driven though i do think he's better at regulating his emotions than neo is. he's also very insecure. he is constantly afraid that he isn't good enough and i think that's very clear in his actions. he loves being annoying he's my fav brat and his words shoot to kill when he's mad (taylor swift reference even tho he would lowkey fucking hate taylor swift)

peisistratus is gay as hell (he and telemachus canonically share a bed in the odyssey btw). telemachus canonically refers to him as "joy of my heart" like i am so glad i'm a multishipper bc i could not come out of the odyssey and not ship telemachus and peisistratus. peisistratus has a fairly small role in the odyssey so you have a lot of free reign in how you want to characterize him (i'll be honest, i'm not 100% sure what fandom characterization of peisistratus is bc i've never been too into the telepeisi ship). in the odyssey, he's very well-spoken and eloquent. i like to think of him as kinda being impulse control for telemachus—he's better at controlling his emotions and not flying off the handle like telemachus does. he's also very horrendously down bad for telemachus. that cannot be ignored. he wants to hit so bad. he will laugh at so many bad jokes just to get a chance to hit.

orestes is so interesting to me! i think he's very logical and serious. i think he has a strong moral compass and gets very conflicted about whether he should stick to his moral compass or be loyal to the people around him. like after clytemnestra kills agamemnon, orestes doesn't want to kill his mother, but he does because he feels obligated to out of a sense of justice. he sees it as an act of loyalty to his father and the gods. and after killing his mother, orestes basically goes insane because he has so much guilt about it. i think he definitely does value justice. he wants to do what he thinks is right and he is willing to sacrifice himself for that . he's a very conflicted person. personality wise, i do like to think of him as relatively serious and not someone who flys off the handle or gets angry easily. i think he definitely thinks with his head, not his heart.

if you do want to include another character, there's pylades, who is orestes' cousin (and also rumoured lover (as is ancient greece) they could be written just as cousins tho or as romantic lol up to u. i’m pretty sure there’s some myths where they’re romantic where they aren’t even cousins at all and they’re just friends so u can do whatever u want really). when orestes can't decide whether or not he should kill clytemnestra, it's pylades who convinces him to go through with his plan. i kinda view pylades as being the impulsive side of orestes. they play off each other and where orestes is careful and logical, pylades is the guy who goes "fuck it we ball". orestes and pylades can have such a fun friendship. their relationship is very pylades: i'm gonna cut the sleeves off all of my shirts iphigenia: why? pylades: orestes isn't here and he's like 95% of my impulse control

(also btw orestes and pylades is where the “i’ll take care of you” “it’s rotten work” “not to me. not if it’s you” quote comes from so yeah. homosexual)

NAUSICAA MY BELOVED <3 some myths have her marrying telemachus after the events of the odyssey. she's extremely kind and compassionate. i like to think of her as being very trusting and like, she would give her life for anyone. she's definitely fairly emotionally mature, but i really like to think of her as kinda a hopeless romantic. she loves romance novels and daydreaming. however, this is not to say that she's naive bc i think the odyssey portrays her as pretty much the opposite of that. she's very aware of societal expectations and such and she knows how to carry herself in a way that ensures people will think of her positively. she's socially aware and intelligent. despite her hopeless romanticism, i think she's also pretty good at reading people and i like her and telemachus having that in common. they're both very good at reading each other. i think nausicaa's compassion and kindness should be some of her main traits when writing her. she should always be thinking about helping others out of the genuine goodness of her heart. i actually think in a modern au i would love to write telemachus and nausicaa having embarrassing puppy love crushes on each other like theyre so cute

ELECTRA IS SO INTRIGUING i'm honestly very attached to the electra, orestes, iphigenia sibling trio theyre so cute and tragic to me. as an interlude, i recommend the book clytemnestra by costanza casati! its a retelling of clytemnestra's myths and though the book has its flaws, i really love the way casati writes the dynamics between clytemnestra and her children. def worth reading it's very very good.

anyway electra is so <3 to me. she's one of my fav mythology figures. i think that she, orestes, and iphigenia should all be very close as siblings. that's what makes their myths all the more tragic. like not a day goes by that i don't think of the orestes: how could you recognize me after all these years? electra: what a stupid question. i was born knowing you exchange like oh my god it makes me sick. i think electra should be very emotional and that should be a point of conflict between her and orestes. orestes thinks things through logically, but electra follows her heart for better or for worse. electra feels things very intensely. she wants vengeance. she gets consumed by her grief and rage. i think of her as someone who very badly wants to understand the world. she wants to know everything. she wants to understand why she feels things so deeply. i'm very influenced by the way casati writes electra in her novel, but i love seeing electra portrayed as someone who is a little unsettling. like you look at her and you cant really tell what's going on in her head. there's a quote from casati's clytemnestra that says "sometimes electra says things that make [clytemnestra] suffer, and she wonders if her daughter does it on purpose. it seems unlikely, but a thought creeps through her mind, making her restless: what if electra can be as unkind as her father? what if she is not quiet because she is shy but because she is crafty?" and later in the novel, electra tells clytemnestra "broken people fascinate me". i love electra being portrayed as someone who is a little shy and quiet, but it's because she is feeling all these emotions so vividly and passionately and she doesn't know what to do with them all. and she wants to understand the world because she thinks it will help her understand herself. she can be purposefully cruel if she thinks it will aid her

on the contrary, i like writing iphigenia as someone who is very bubbly and outspoken. i like her as being very optimistic and likeable. she's charming and you can't help but fawn over her when you meet her. she and electra act as foils in this way in my head bc iphigenia is someone that you can't help but love while electra is someone who is very difficult to love (i say this in very simple words). i think iphigenia is very compassionate and also feels emotions deeply, but in a different way than electra does. iphigenia, i think, is very empathetic and likes to help people. i think she is objectively, the kindest and most likeable of her siblings which is what makes her sacrifice even more tragic. but i really do like writing iphigenia and electra as the extrovert/introvert duo. i think the orestes/iphigenia/electra trio is so fun to write because they all have such complex issues and i have so many thoughts on them. in a modern au, iphigenia is probably the popular girl of the school, but the popular girl who is actually really nice and everyone loves her. like she's head cheerleader, but she's also saying hello to everyone in the hallways and all the teachers love her and it leaves electra in her shadow a little bit. ugh i could talk abt electra, orestes, & iphigenia for so long theyre so <3 to me

hermione! i think you have to give hermione mommy issues. it would be really fun to explore how hermione is affected by having the most beautiful woman in the world as her mom and how it felt to have her mom leave her (or kidnapped depending on interpretation) when she was just 9 or so. i really like to write hermione and orestes' relationship as one based on love. i think they really do love each other and it's why orestes fights neo for hermione. i think hermione can def be entitled and a lot of it stems from her parents (her mother is literally helen of sparta like cmon now i don't blame her). hermione can be jealous and i love to write that as coming from insecurity—hermione grew up with the most beautiful woman ever as her mom. her self-esteem has to be insane like no wonder she's jealous; she probably thinks she can never live up to her mother. i think hermione probably lashes out emotionally because of that jealousy. a lot of her characterization has to stem from her circumstances—she's used as a political pawn for most of her life and that def affects the way she views herself. she needs so much therapy. if anyone has seen saiki k, i actually think of teruhashi a little bit when i think of hermione. hermione is definitely her mother's daughter and i see has as very similar to helen. i think hermione is definitely someone who acts as if she is much more confident than she really is—it's kind of a mask. you guys know the song oh no! by marina? the line that says "cause i feel like i'm the worst so i always act like i'm the best" that's so hermione to me.

now, i won't lie to you, i don't know much about nicostratus. i don't think there's many famous myths on him at all iirc? or at least, i can't think of any off the top of my head. i think he's probably a character you can have fun with it and shape how you like. you can def give him the same kind of parental angst from helen and menelaus that hermione has and giving hermione a sibling dynamic is so funny. but yeah, i don't know much about him so i'm not going to just lie to you and make stuff up LMFAO

as for other characters, clytemnestra has a few other kids you could include though they're not as interesting as the main 3 to me. there's also pylades that i mentioned earlier. there's polyxena too! she might be a bit older as she's a daughter of priam, but she is the youngest one. off the top of my head, i think she's described as being 18 in the final year of the war? this would make her a couple years older than neo who is typically between the ages of 12-15 in the final year of the war. so she could be included albeit she is slightly older (she was promised to achilles tho so again, she might be too old for the story you want to write). on a similar vein, there's cassandra and helenus who are in a weird age range of likely being younger than the achilles generation, but quite a bit older than the neo/telemachus generation. i love cassandra sm tho (i named my dnd oc after her LMAO) she's one of my favs ever. those two could be included if you want, but are older than polyxena who is already older than neo so idk if that's too much of an age range for what you want.

okay so as for the gods, one thing i really like doing is that in modern aus where they go to school, i love writing the gods as their teachers LMFAO. idk if that's what you wanna do, but i think it's so funny. like can you imagine poseidon being your gym teacher. or athena teaching you math or something??? it's hilarious. so that is definitely an idea

Heyo! Anon back. I want you to know that there is always going to be someone reading and rereading your meta posts, and it is going to be me. A bit embarrassing to admit, but I check your blog every morning as I'm making coffee and it makes my day when i get new ideas to chew on. Anyhow, enough mushy stuff. I feel like Xeno has a perfect idea in his head of who he wants to be, which he puts on a big performance for (hello giant menacing castle and completely impractical claws), but his heart just really doesn't let him commit all the way. Senku puts on his own "I'm a completely logical/pragmatic mad scientist" performance of him own, so thats not a problem. The problem is he does manage to take it pretty far, when he's drunk on the lack of oversight. It's obvious that he didn't want Stanley to shoot when he discovered Senku, but at that point he was so caught up in his own hype that he does commit to the bit, against his heart's desires. The imagery in that scene is also pretty great. I'm sure he was stressing hard over that decision internally, and all the emotions that came with that primed him for his anti-heel-turn later. Thank you very much for that amazing linguistics breakdown btw. Nothing makes me happier than finding stuff out that I never would've gotten on my own in a million years.

I've been thinking over this one for a bit now. You sent it while I was at my parents' for Mothers' Day, but I mostly kept re-reading it because I wasn't sure how I wanted to answer.

Because this hit wrong, but I couldn't quite say way.

I think what it is, is that while Xeno and Senku both pretend to be people they're not, I don't think either is actually trying to be.

Yes, Senku does pull a "Mad, emotionless scientist" thing a couple times, but...like with Yuzuriha, when he was trying to convince Tsukasa he didn't care about her...I mean, the idea that Senku was trying to convince himself not to care is ludicrous. Especially as this is right around the time where we get him swearing vehemently that he'd find a way to save anyone, somehow. He wanted Tsukasa to let her go as a useless hostage, because he's not the type of person to kill a useless hostage anyway.

It didn't work, but the playacting wasn't meant for himself, and it certainly wasn't an attempt to actually be a person who didn't care if Yuzuriha lived or died. Senku doesn't always care about the same things other people do, but that's not because he's emotionless or something, it's just 'cause he's weird and probably autistic.

Similarly, I don't think Xeno is like. Trying to be a dictator because for some reason he thinks being a dictator is the kind of person he wants to be. He's just kind of a loon and deals with rejection extremely poorly, and this was his solution to being told 'no.'

Like, he was telling his coworkers he was thinking about dictatorship idea well before that was a realistic possibility or something he was trying to be, and I don't think he was actually trying to edgelord them out of speaking to him. He's just a weird freak who was actually fantasizing about that.

Xeno puts on a dramatic, showy performance about. Everything. But I don't think that's because he's trying too hard; I think he's just...like...that. When he's talking about being the "scientist of darkness" compared to Senku's "scientist of light" it's not...really because that's what he wants to be. He's doing that William bullshit of casting himself as a villain to make other people swallow pragmatics better. Or Gen, for that matter. We see him still doing that even before they wake up Stan, when he offers to let them blame Stan's resurrection on him even though it was blatantly not his idea or request. And Ryusui tells him they're not letting him play villain anymore and they don't need him to do that, and they're owning their own decisions.

Unfortunately, it appears I have a weakness for brilliant STEM nerd theatre kids who like to play the villain and wear too much black (I say while in head-to-toe black. But hey there's a dragon on my shirt...?).

But anyway, by the point that conversation with Ryusui is happening, it's pretty clear Xeno's well past actually trying to be some kind of villain. But he's still offering to play it. And he's willing to be a dictator if it means he can do his science. And he's willing to pretend to be the kind of person who kills Senku without a care in the world--the phrase he uses in Japanese is pretty literally "Not bothered." Not an order, not a request, just, "Yeah, I don't mind, you can do that," which is. Blatantly false.

Does Xeno want to be the kind of person who's not upset to kill his mentee? I...I don't know. We don't really get to see a lot of his reaction in the aftermath until he knows Senku's alive, honestly. We're focused on the much more important part of making sure Senku's not dying. And what we do see of Xeno is not...private, so he's still putting on his show. Kind of hard to make too much of a guess at that. We get to see Xeno grieve in advance, and he gives himself space to do that. Unlike many American men who just sort of shove that part down and try not to deal with it ever.

I don't know. Pretending to be something and hiding yourself with a facade is not really the same thing as wanting to change the actual structure underneath and is in fact often a way to keep that internal structure intact as it is, protect it, and let it get away with what's actually going on under the surface. Man, we even see that with Stan's ghillie suit: that's the unassuming camouflage so that you can move under darkness without anyone knowing your true intentions so they cannot stop you.

Gen is our master of that in this series. But that doesn't mean no one else knows how to do it.

And Xeno really, really doesn't like being stopped when he's got a goal in mind.

Fun With Linguistics is one of my favorite things to do here on Tumblr, honestly. It helps me get better at the language, too, the same way diagramming sentences in English helps people understand how English works (spoiler: I was required to take a Structure of English class for my major which was heavy on sentence-diagramming).

But buying all these volumes is. Not great at this time, so I'm sort of doing it slowly when I get real, real curious. Also everyone in this series talks in very colloquial ways and I have to keep asking more fluent friends what shit like やんじゃん means.

Hihi! I appreciate ur question. It's because my hatred for T*m*dd came first.

It all started on Twitter(I am not calling it X). There was an artist (that I'm not mentioning names) that drew lots of T*m*dd art.

Back in the day, I thought it was pretty cute so I supported them. However, I found out that the artist was a TomTord hater, in a "T*M*DD IS BETTER THAN TOMTORD!!1!!1!1" way. And I hated it. When I found that tweet, I got really mad (I got literally fueled with RAGE) and then my hatred for T*m*dd started. I hated how that artist belittled the TomTord ship like that. (And also they were apparently a "T*M*DD SHOULD BE CANON!!" person, cuz they got a little upset that TomMatt got a comic lmao)

But this didn't start in that day. I used to interact with another artists who shipped T*m*dd. But one of them were like. PRETTY annoying about TomTord. I think they were even the kind of people who think that the ship is ab*sive or some bullshit like that.

Basically, I already disliked T*m*dd shippers because of those kind of acts, and my hatred got even stronger when I found out about another T*m*dd artist (this one being from TikTok, ofc it had to be the toxic app) who apparently where belittling TomTord shippers. I looked in their account and they were the kind of people who make posts saying "TomTord sucks!!" and then gets mad when TomTord people interact with them. They would even make posts saying "idk why people call me a toxic t*m*dd shipper lol just DNI with me tomtord fans" like. Fuck you.

I also dislike Edd ships because of my AroAce Edd headcanon, yeah. But most of my hatred started with the THOSE KIND of fans of these ships. My HC never really affected it. I have already drawn TordEdd as romantic, but it was way before I started considering them as qpr a better option for me.

In other words, my hatred for T*m*dd got influenced by toxic fans I've seen all these days.

And I don't have much contempt for TordEdd because most of the shippers I've met in all my life since 2021 were nice and cool (as far as I remember, may be wrong tho).

However, this opinion ofine got mutilated a lot, because apparently TordEdd shippers have gotten more toxic over the years. Today I saw a TordEdd shipper saying that "they hate TomTord" in the fucking TomTord Shipping Wiki page (they were also a "TORDEDD CANON!!" Mf lol). And recently I got a meltdown because of a TordEdd shipper on Insta saying that "they were the #1 TomTord HaTeR" and even told TomTord shippers to "get the fuck outta" their TordEdd post. Pretty rude huh

I'm not saying I don't hate TordEdd. Actually I dislike the ship too. But I don't hate it at the same level as T*m*dd. I hate both ships because of the fans, the AroAce Edd HC isn't really the reason.

(edit: btw. I'm not the kind of person who thinks TomTord is a better ship btw. I think all the ships are great and deserve respect. I just get mad at all this prejudice because of my trauma with the TomTord haters.)

Soo the first one that comes to my mind is hajime and samon. They were one of my first ships umm i don't think they are a rarepair but yeah. And yes in my head they can't stand eachother even tho they're together. They're like "the fact that i'm in love with you makes me so mad so i hate you"

One of my favourites is seitarou and hitoshi... they mean so much to me. They make me insane. In my head seitarou is kinda pessimistic and is always like "oh my god i hate myself so much i'm such a bad person" (i'm also like this...) and hitoshi is the one that makes him feel better about himself and just gives him confidence (they need to explode/pos /aff)

NOW MY FAVOURITE ONE. Yamato, inori and navarin (yamato's wife if any of you forgot about her name). I JUST. I COOKED WITH THIS. I can't even explain how much i love them. I'm starting my baby journey into reading Agatha Christie, because I saw you and Sakurina talk about her books in the past years and I never read anything of her before (Sakurina helped me to pick something). Aside from that I haven't picked anything because I'm really lost about what to read and I'm just craving bizarre horror with some doze of romance and in spanish because I don't think I have the brain power to pull in another language haha. I'm still playing MCL but I'm just pretty much over with the game. I pre-registered for New Gen and I'm going for Devon and Roy (I have many expectations for both) but I have also many worries (like basically everyone). I can say that Emma (Ikepri MC) is my second favorite MC after Mai (Ikesen MC). Is true she is basically like Disney Beauty: She is very smart, loves to read books and is very-strong willed. She has a sense of humor (something I love for a MC), has a very strong character when she gets mad and she holds integrity and personal values that make me respect her. So basically, yes! She is good for me!.

I personally don't like Silvio that much (Maybe I'll change my mind when I finish his story) is more like I read the previous route that was Rio and I have many questions that only Silvio can answer and I'm very curious to see the whole picture. The other reason is that there is going to be a love triangle between Rio, Silvio and Emma, and because I already know Rio pretty well, this is going to be ugly like a car crash and I don't want to watch but I want to watch the whole thing anyway.

Anyway, I really want to see Rio and Silvio fist fighting or even better: I want to watch Emma and Silvio fist fighting while Rio and the other princes are cheering on the background lmao. I know is probably not happening because Emma can't start a fight without ending in a political conflict between countries, but who knows, I'm only on chapter 9.

Silvio was so annoying in Rio's route, the jangler is a sleazeball, but I learned to appreciate him and I can see why people like him so much. About Ikevamp, I feel the same about the MC. From the moment I was reading the prologue, I knew the game was not up to my liking because I didn't like how the MC was. But I wanted to play for Sebastian anyway so I'd give it a chance. Sadly Sebastian got eclipsed by Faust (like literally is the first thing you see on the trailer and I was like "Hello?? Who are you??? You're fucking gorgeous BTW!").

And back to Faust, I think he is the only reason why I'm playing Ikevamp. The character is fucking perfection (I'm fucking biased as fuck). Playing his route was my reason to wake up every morning. I was eating him like the most delicious candy ever. I regret my life before him, I regret all the things I missed from this character because I wasn't playing this game. The guy and I share the same birthday month! and I didn't know that!!! WTF is wrong with me???.

MC and Faust fight and argue a lot and is the most entertaining thing ever ❤️ The sexual tension is good. I think the only few bad thing is that: Well, the localization quality is bad (I don't even speak english and I can tell) and well, there is ikevamp whole quality of their writing (like be real, there is better than this). More important: I wanted for Faust to be more nasty, I wanted more blasphemy, I wanted more of the "You're such a naughty girl moaning like that in from of god" in the church altar. Kougami Frederica Honeslty I like to think they're colleagues who respect each other and in a way mirror each other (Gino even says she's a female kougami) but part of me won't mind if they hooked up in SS3, coz she's a hot woman in his house and he's just a man with needs

Gino Akane What can I say, I'm a Gino fan especially with how much he's developed over the seasons, and those scenes of him staunchly showing his loyalty to Akane (esp the end scene in ppm and that Mika conversation scene in S3 that I've rewatched 10 million times) have me by the balls, but at the end of the day subordinate loyalty is a trope that gets me like no other (especially given they were equals to start and now she's his superior, you can't write this any better) but also one I enjoy in gen sometimes and this is one of those times.

Verdict: platonic loyalty only

Kei/arata (+ Maiko) Okay. These guys are like, 100% shippable, right? I mean the whole 'don't go where I can't hold your rope' thing, the fact that Arata 'holds' Kei's 'social' rope in the same way Kei hold's Arata's 'mental' rope, the way they go all the way back as childhood friends, bonding over shared trauma of loss of loved ones. S3/FI did a great job at creating tension within their relationship with their falling out over Maiko's involvement with Heaven's Leap and Kei hiding his Bifrost Inspector shenanigans from Arata and Maiko. Which brings me to Maiko. She is as much a part of the trio as they are a duo at work. Maiko's friendship with Arata just feels pure, and Arata doesn't feel like a third wheel hanging out with them. We know from that real badass scene in Heaven's Leap she isn't a damsel in distress. So while Kei and Arata are just asking to be shipped, because Maiko is lovely and also a badass, I adore the trio as a unit, she's a part of them, rather than a competitor. It's a really well-written relationship triangulation and I adore it.

Verdict: love them as friends, the brot3 trio.

Irie Mao Ngl their whole thing in FI was kind of cute. I just want them to go on a nice Enforcer-friendly date or something. (God the more I delve into parallel media the more I love Irie, to think I thought he was just some thug at the start)(anyway random Irie love over)

Irie Oishi The manga/novels really highlighted this relationship in a way that wasn't showcased in the anime. Irie was like a charismatic gang leader in the slums and Oishi looked up to him and felt betrayed when he left. Angsty shit, love it. But on the whole I see it as more of a brotherhood thing. Verdict: gen

Hinakawa Akane Little bro smitten with big sis, loyal to a fault. Again, the loyalty thing grabs me and refuses to let go. (Then I read the interview that said Sho was a bit of a siscon lmao)(still love him though, my lil druggie) But also I love the way Hinakawa strikes me as the kind of guy who likes to stay out of trouble (for the most part) but for Akane he will bend the rules (speaking to her through an illegal channel in S3 to give her updates).

Shizuka Akane

A wildcard if I ever saw one. Firstly, they just look good together. Like Sybil would've matched them or something. But also Shizuka is just an enigma, I can't quite put a finger on him yet (the only thing I know about him is he lives to win, and has an interest in Akane's wellbeing for unspecified reasons.) I hope they reveal more about him in later seasons - he's a bit of a blank slate at the moment, a pluripotent little stem cell with a million ways of potential. He doesn't quite have the history that Akane shares with Kougami or even Gino, but there's enough in the crumbs we got from s3/FI to keep me hopeful.

Verdict: kind of ship but also an 'on probation' ship

Kougami Akane Ah, saving the best for last. Where do I even begin? At the start, when I was a wee 10yearsago-me watching PP1 for the first time, I was sucked into their dynamic. Something stirred, but it wasn't entirely a 'I want them to be together romantically'. It was a second, difficult to define, thing, borne of seeing the amount of trust and respect they had in each other. But also, somehow, somehow, I cannot imagine them sailing off into the sunset together. Like there is just no way. But also I desperately want to see it happen. I call this my Schrodinger's ship because I ship them and can't ship them at the same time. They have a lot of history and that in itself is enough to give me feelings, but I am left feeling conflicted about it. Like I know the creators are not going to remotely hint at any sort of romance with them and that's fine, that's not what PP is all about anyway. But still. They are just. So frustrating in they way they make me feel about them. ~~it's like emotional edging, help me~~ But also I will devour any fic, art, fanwork of them being romantically together or being that elusive third thing - not quite lovers but more than friends - in fact if anything, maybe the third thing is what I really wanted them to be all along.

Oh my god an autistic person who likes Pokémon it's a miracle. Yeah. I started playing Pokémon when I was 3, so 18 years going strong. I originally preferred the toys and cards, but heart gold and soul silver converted me and then I became a mega fan. Tracking releases, learning lore, creating fanart. Mind you I was like 7. There's a deviantart account out there from when I was 6? and yeah that shit Sure Is (you can try and find it I don't really care anymore jfjsjfjg). Anyway!!! Faves are cleffa, whimsicott, blaziken, galvantula, giratina, mimikyu and Registeel. Faves by proxy include lapras, torkoal, lilligant, gengar, rayquaza, mudkip and ledyba. Fave humans are Iono, Caitlyn, Lillie (LillieMoon 💖💖💖), Ingo and Emmet, Allister, N, Erika and Elesa. Gen 5 is currently my favourite but I have played gen 5 a LOT the past few years and a lot of my faves are gen 5. I attended both the Pokémon center pop up in London in 2018, and EUIC 2024 in London, also for the Pokémon center lmao. I have a cleffa tattoo also!!! Planning on getting a large majority of my faves tattooed at some point.

I think everyone should have this one. Occasionally I'll just be like "hm being an adult in the real world isn't really what I wanted right now" so I play animal crossing until oops 6 hours passed. I'll then play for about a week before putting it down again. I tend to stick with new horizons, just because it has the best gameplay. Also BUGS heheshhfksjgh. Fave villagers are Lily, Eugene, Beardo, Judy, Merengue, Lolly, Merry and Marina. I also love Flick and Celeste.

i was trying to avoid spoilers under the assumption that i would Eventually getting around to reading tbc and asc, but im bored and i want to watch videos about them and i probably wont read them for a long time, so i went to the wiki to see whats up!

my official take on tbc is that the concepts seem very cool, but i cant say much about the execution or smaller details ofc. ashfur being the imposter feels like a really good choice, i dont know if thats controversial, i'm like 3 years late to all this lmao but i thought i saw some posts about him not making sense.

i mean, his connection to squilf and bramblestar alone...plus, yeah, he wasn't super into the code in life, but all of the events leading to his death WERE caused by codebreaking, and with leafpool especially going to starclan after inadvertently contributing to Ruining His Life, he might get mad about it? i kinda get it. also the whole concept of him possessing ashfur is so so horrifying and sad to me and has anyone written fic about this from squilf's pov???

also, ALSO, i skimmed a light in the mist plot summary bc i was still bored but it seemed cool. i dont remember if people were mad about that when i came out, just that it was Everywhere. kudos to the erins for actually carrying a plot through six books instead of splitting it in half for the first time since, like, tpb. po3 and oots dont count bc they didnt Have a plot.

but i was trying to think about why the new gen (arcs 6-8) arent as popular/getting much attention and why the fandom is slowly falling off post-oots. which, there are a lot of reasons, but this is one of the main ones i haven't seen anyone discuss yet (tbf, again, i was avoiding spoilers until literally today, so).

like, think about the new prophecy, power of three, and omen of the stars. they all happen VERY close together and are deeply intertwined. lionblaze and jayfeather even get to be pov characters for 2 arcs instead of one! and no pov characters die! except flametail but eh!

then we get to avos. we lose needletail, what, three books in? then violetshine literally becomes a mom to one of the broken code protags, and, again, only reading plot summaries, but she Never Came Up. neither did twigbranch. alderheart did some, mostly by virtue of being a medicine cat and therefore important to the plot.

and now, in the broken code, we've lost bristlefrost. i havent gotten to a starless clan yet, that's next, but i know flamepaw/nightheart is sparkpelt's kid, and sunbeam and frostpaw are the kids of random side characters (at least, they didnt stand out to me?). i'm not saying it's inherently bad that they're not connected to the previous protags (you could argue its a positive for sure), but it's contributing to this feeling of disconnection in the new books, i think.

i DONT think we should keep doing firekin as protags. i am perfectly happy putting that line to rest. but we introduced twig and violet and needletail, those are brand new bloodlines and focusing on them instead would be really really cool.

what you did the first time worked, erins! do that again! like. they had the opportunity to decimate the clans in oots and essentially start with a clean slate for avos/tbc/asc, but they chickened out. changes to the code shouldve been FIRST. new mains unrelated to firestar shouldve been FIRST.

actually, avos did have that potential. that was Good and Correct except for the part where there were no significant culture changes and too many tnp-era cats are still around. but like, okay, firekin! we like firekin! alderheart is my BOY. he is familiar, or related to familiarity. GOOD. he brings in needletail, twigbranch, and violetshine, so they feel connected to familiarity too, rather than just "heres some kids of cats you've never heard of. care about them."

and then they just. gave us bristlefrost and shadowsight. more firekin, woo. forget about twig and violet, oh and needletail is dead btw. i'm sure everyone has talked and talked about the tragedy of finally getting a she-cat who doesnt want kits but it's TWIGBRANCH. ugh.

anyway, yeah. all the protagonists for the first four arcs were interconnected and important to each other and i'm not getting that at all with the new arcs and i think thats why its hard for me and other fans to like, care.

plus also firestar and other fan favorites died and the prequels immediately came out and stalled the continuity for a while at just the right moment when a lot of fans were poised to lose interest. and then they did. and here we are.

Also your ice-cream bar metaphor is really flawed. Most people have some ice-cream but autistic people have more, and in many different flavours to the point where it becomes a "disorder". Btw this "autism can be anything" mindset is so stupid, at the end of the day a psychiatric condition must have symptoms and there is no avoiding that. Don't worry @coockie8, you dont have to hide in the tags! :) To answer your question, no I am not autistic to my knowledge. While I am aware that autism is thought of as a spectrum or an "ice-cream bar", I also know that this philosophy can often lead to people with only a few autistic behaviours having the "autistic" label slapped on them.(Not that I disagree with this philosophy I'm just saying it can lead to this.) House is most likely not autistic. Of course he shows some autistic traits (and some traits that people mistake for autistic), but he doesn't have nearly enough of these traits to be considered autistic. House doesn't have any of the *most common* symptoms (trouble understanding allistics, sensory issues, etc). While this doesn't mean he is for sure not autistic it makes it much more likely to be the case because, although he exhibits SOME symptoms, he doesn't have nearly enough of them and doesn't have the most common and indicative ones. My problem with the people I was referring to in my original post (which I probably could've worded better) was that they act as if house being autistic is objective fact, despite the fact that it is unlikely at best.

I don't have an official rec list, and I don't read HP stories too much anymore but there's a couple of authors I'll always promote because they're very much amazing, and are so mind-bogglingly talented. Most of them are primarily tomarry writers.

Severus_divides_into_H is an incredibly gifted writer. She's just finished one of the best, recent tomarry stories in the fandom, and has started her new one! I'd recommend checking out her tumblr as well (@k-s-morgan). Katrin is a beautiful human being and deserves all the love and support.

The_Fictionist is another legend. Heaps of really unique story ideas, and the writing quality is top-tier (Tumblr is here).

slex (slexenskee) is another one - though it's not just tomarry. Lots of crossovers with HP if that's of interest as well! (Tumblr is here).

Epic Solemnity (Dark_Cyan_Star) was a huge inspiration to me when I started out. She's recently moved on to writing her own original stuff, which while I haven't read much of, is really highly rated by a lot of readers. (Tumblr is here).

And I'd be sinner not to mention Tsume_Yuki. Absolutely mad lass, who never fails to make me cackle. Plenty of different fandoms to enjoy, not just HP - the Naruto ones live in my head rent free and I love them. (Tumblr is here).
