1:38AM thoughts (on Aziraphale bc he has taken over my body help he's making me write things in his defense, well except this part, obviously, I am doing a joke, haha):

"We can be together!" and "I need you!" followed by "I don't think you understand what I'm offering you." is so fucking tragic to me? It's like he's saying 'I love you, I want to be with you' reeeaaally really clearly (though some people would rather just ignore it and are all 'oh, Aziraphale's only talking about jobs and promotions'). He is offering Corwley a way they can be with each other for realsies, no take-backsies without fear or interference, with earth and humanity protected (which Crowley was previously the main advocate for, remember) and Crowley hits him with "I think I understand a whole lot better than you do."

Wanna know what I'd have thought in Azi's place at that? I'll tell you anyway: whoa, fuck, I completely misinterpreted everything Crowley's been throwing my way for... a long time! He doesn't want to be together together, he just likes to be really good friends and wants to keep that up, he's so lonely on earth, being a good demon that he expresses his platonic love in a way reminiscent of pining love-interests- heck, maybe I'm so lonely down here that I misread common best-buddies-stuff as romantic interest! This is bad. He understands what I want to do here and he doesn't want that. He wants to be 'us' as we have been for millennia. I... don't know if I want that... I don't want to hide this shit, but if he doesn't reciprocate, then I'd make him uncomfortable and things wouldn't work out anyways. Guess I might as well save us both the pain of one-sided love and a friendship that can never be the same again and go. Now I'm angry. This isn't at all how it was supposed to be. I need distance now. From him, our relationship and my emotions bc this hurts. Ouchie. Rude.

And then Crowley mentions the nightingale and hits him with that angry, tragic as fuck kiss? The (potentially perceived) mockery! Crowley is mocking Azi's feelings for him. 'Is that what you want, angel? This? Silly birds proverbially singing about our love? Kissing? That's what you want for us?'Yes, it is, damn you a second time!

haven't watched it, have no intention of watching it tbf, but apparently rhaenyra goes around wondering "why are they blaming ME for b&c" for a bit and i'm sorry i don't have a nicer way of phrasing this, but is she stupid??????

I yelled about it a lot in the tags but what's most funny to me about Last Laugh as an episode is that what it proves to us is that BJ has the ability to be incredibly awful, cruel, and sadistic way sooner than I actually anticipated.

A lot of attention gets put on what a terrible friend Leo was, how awful BJ's picks of pals must've been if that was his best man, how Hawk is maybe one of the first people who shows BJ what a real and kind friendship can be.

But the reality is that before Leo pulls the hand buzzer on Hawk, explodes the cigar on BJ, or has gotten BJ in a single bit of trouble, BJ is the one who chose to swipe Leo's travel papers. Absolutely unearned. Absolutely unnecessary. BJ heard that his friend—who has been in Korea MUCH longer than him, mind you—was going home, and his first instinct was to sneak his papers out so that Leo wouldn't make his flight.

Here's what we know for a fact: Leo signed BJ's name to the hotel ledger. Leo would've recognized that his damages would be attached to BJ's name, and if anybody knows where he lives, it's BJ. That money's coming out of Leo's pocket when everything is said and done. He just has to make sure the gag hits first. But here's what we also know: Leo had no way of knowing what his actions were ultimately going to cause in terms of the arrest and the threats on BJ's safety and person. He did not plan for such a thing nor did he orchestrate it. It was pure happenstance that a man who was full of himself was having an affair in the room next to Leo's, and BJ just happened to get his name caught in the crossfire.

So really, at the end of it all, BJ is goddamn lucky that Leo's gag blew out of proportion and exploded in BJ's face, because if nothing had happened? Not even a hand buzzer or a cigar? BJ just kept him from making it home on time. He was feeling sadistic enough in that moment about not being able to go home himself that he wanted to make his best man at his wedding suffer and be delayed for who knows how long on a whim.

And goddamn, but that's fascinating, isn't it? Because when you see his pranks in Dear Sigmund, they're playful, they're harmless, they're just made to embarrass somebody. This is really the first time we see him make a move to cause real, intentional emotional damage to somebody that he cares about. He's making this man not only drive to an air base through a warzone, but he then has to turn around and drive all the way back.

And then once he does know that Leo got BJ arrested, even after Leo's apologized quite a bit, even before the hotel bill arrives, BJ decides a proper punishment is for his friend to be stranded and have to walk back, again, in a warzone. When one of BJ's first experiences in Korea was seeing what becomes of people who just happen to be walking through a warzone.

And that's very, very interesting.

actually i have one more thing to say about season 9 and it's that i'm kind of impressed how well seasons 8 and 9 work together. there are so many parallels between them and role reversals; they're two sides of the same coin. i think that's pretty clever and excluding my general criticism for season 9, i think it was executed well too. they're one unit, with a sam-focused season and a dean-focused season: sam betrays dean, dean betrays sam; they cope with the complicated feelings; in the end, they reassert to each other that nothing matters more to them than each other. they reveal at the time of death that they'll happily throw everything away just to keep each other alive, after a whole season of them thinking the other doesn't love them as much as they do.

idk even though i think season 9 had some weird pacing issues, the themes were there, and the parallels were really awesome. it resulted in a really great finale that tied both of the seasons together. they did a good job.

i’ve been reminiscing of a different tabletop game i used to be in, so here’s abby abyss and ABBY ABYSS, a drummer who tried to make a deal with the devil but do a trick to allow her not to pay her soul, wound up accidentally ripping her soul in half, spent like a decade in so much pain because her bifurcated soul were straining to combine again while trapped on two different planes of reality, suddenly got her half-soul back but it came back irradiated with hell (hellburned) and now she just is part demon and the demon part has not drummed in a decade.
