Heyy, this isn't a hate comment as I really enjoyed reading staged for the season, but there was something which wasn't clear enough to me. Jungkook loved misa a lot, even after 9 years of breakup he was still missing her and hoping that they could get back together but it didn't happen and THEN only he decided to move on, which was absolutely fine! but for some reason it felt like the mc was his backup option (because there wasn't enough backstory about their dynamic) and i feel he never would have thought of that option if misa would have accepted him again. I think he never really liked her in that way before and idk if he'll even love her as much as he loved Misa because there wasn't enough chemistry shown between them. Also, him saying mc isn't that bad as a future option to Misa after literally everything was really not satisfying to read as a reader(sorry). I was hoping for some mature conversation between them after the smut which also didn't happen.

I'm sorry if my opinion is sounding rude or anything like that because i dont mean anything negative at all, I'm just super curious to know more about their characters!

hi, so i TOTALLY get it actually 😭😭😭 the pacing and the lack of chemistry is why i initially didnt want to post this fic in the first place. but do understand this was completely rushed, and i didnt want to let anyone down by not posting anything for christmas — which i had promised months ago.

you do not sound rude at all, trust me !! i actually do appreciate constructive feedback, so im glad you could voice out your opinion !!

so yes, jungkook wasnt over misa. but when he finally saw misa after all those years, she wasnt the same person he had fallen in love with. she grew and matured like everyone does. after all those years of wanting her back, he realized that was out the door because she wasnt the person he had known. then, she reveals that shes engaged and now he really doesnt want to pursue her anymore.

as for jungkook and oc, its implied that they are attracted to each other and fake dating only made that fire stronger for them. now, him telling misa that being with oc wasnt that bad to be with was not supposed to be taken in the context that you took it (although i do understand) !! it was more of a joking way, and how being in a relationship (remember this is his first relationship since misa) wasnt as bad as he thought it would be — since misa broke his heart — and he thought hed never be able to love anyone again.

so i did want to write jungkook and oc having a conversation after the smut, but im going to be so honest, i had been writing that fic for months and i was over it 😭😭😭 just know they didnt immediately fall in love .. but they definitely were always attracted to each other and grew feelings throughout their time as a fake couple. since the fic ended so abruptly, its totally expected for everyone to grow their own opinion on jungkook and ocs relationship. but do consider jungkook fell in love with misa when he was young, and she was his first love — they had no idea what they were doing. with oc, hes a grown adult who has had that experience, and he knows what he wants. i think oc has absolutely nothing to worry about.

i really wish i did write more about them after misa but i also didnt want the word count to be damn near 30k .. please do consider i can get lazy. i write for fun and i dont get paid, so i dont think my fics should be perfect.

ANOTHER instant fav author. the guys suffer a shipwreck and kendall gets badly hurt. and they have to cauterize the wound and so on. very nice and sweet despite that description i just gave skdjsh

15. something you learned this year

i don't know if i can say i learned a new skill as such. but one thing is like... i really enjoyed making three card stud. and it really opened my eyes to like, how much of what i like about the practice of fanfiction is the meticulous remixing/reinterpretation of canon. there's a way in which the AMV is a more... analytical art form than the fanfic, because you are literally forced by the constraints of the medium to keep to the text. all you have are song lyrics and the kuleshov effect to convince your audience to take the new meaning you intend to convey from stuff already in the show. and i brought that ethos to three card stud even though i did add stuff. in a lot of ways three card stud was just me listing off things from canon i think a lot about and saying eh? eh? like. hoping the context would make it clear *why* this stuff makes me crazy. and i think that was a lot of the motivation behind the fic i'm currently working on, which is about dean and cas getting caught by the police. that fic at this point is mostly lists of things that have happened in spn episodes, placed in a new context by baffled feds and cops. which is the fun part. so like basically i learned that this is really fun, listing off canon facts in a new context

21. most memorable comment/review

so the most memorable traditional comment as such i got was probably this one, on i fold in half so easily (ifihse tends to generate the best comments because it's extremely dark without the ways in which it is dark being obviously flagged. so people are more shocked and more forced to think). "Cas: no officer i am very happy please dont tell dean im emotionally complex" is so funny and true that's literally what happens in that fic.

another top contender is this one, on getting serious, which generates good comments for the same reason ifihse does, though it's a lot less intense.

but in terms of my favorite *response to my work,* it was the breastfeeding anon saga (in chronological order here) which was a response to my fic smorgasbord.

and then i wrote a fic based on those anons, and then i got these very funny tags on my fic post:

23. fics you wanted to write but didn’t

when i tell you about the 120k deanvictor fic which is literally 90k of victor henriksen hunting down a serial killer dean winchester while becoming a little (sexually) obsessed with him and then 30k of victor knowing about the supernatural and moonlighting as a hunter while he and dean suck each others dicks so much.

and also it's about victor's relationship with his two ex wives and his former stepdaughter who he is still emotionally a parent to even though they have no legal relationship and the coworker he had an emotional affair with who he doesn't speak to anymore and how he feels trapped in his life and his job and dean represents this escape for him this total freedom. just living in his car on the road and not having to worry about what your boss thinks or needing to quit smoking. while for dean victor represents this stability and adulthood dean can never achieve. and dean leaves three spare pairs of underwear in victor's divorcé bachelor pad as a kind of little... fantasy. of what life could be like.

anyway the most compelling scene from that, IN MY MIND, is a scene where victor STILL thinks dean is a serial killer. and now he has him in custody. and against his will he's... charmed. by dean. because dean is charming and pathetic, shaking and sweating from mild alcohol withdrawal but still cracking jokes and being friendly and observant and extremely young-feeling, for 28. and earnest in a way he didn't expect. and they're forced to work together against a demon siege, a spin on jus in bello where victor still doesn't find out about the supernatural he's just protecting himself and a prisoner from a threat. and he has the uncomfortable realization that he's attracted to dean winchester (serial killer) (guy he is trying to take down) (has killed so so many people). and he's like well. we can table that for later. and then dean escapes.

so i've been trying to figure out a way to scoop out just that scene and turn it into its own fic because that's actually manageable for me.

the dean and cas pursued by the cops idea also comes a bit from frustration that i can't write this, though the feds in that one are ocs bc it's later.

this is the kind of line i would have written as a teenager which is why my first instinct is to mock but like come on bluejay be kind to your past self, you were going through it

Arzach: I may be a bit biased (…) but I think the ridiculness of that is here to depict the Warp aspect ? How Necare do that for fun, he enjoys torture him.

bluejay: like the book in general kind of ping pongs between being, you know, genuinely compelling vs The Silly Edge Zone

typhon agrees with vos so they're gonna gather data first before doing anything else

like Angel Exterminatus, this isn't exactly a book of subtle characterization but then i mean, that's not necessarily a bad thing anyways Mortarion wants to be alone for a bit so he can listen to his linkin park chapter ends there

now it's time for more reader torment as we return to Captain Cardboard's Amazing Crew it's a bunch of space marines versus…THE SWARM we get some simping for Garro's sword which I have been informed is actually apparently Excalibur

space marine vs a swarm of insects? who will win? the answer will surprise you

yay okay so the reveal…the cloud of flies is a daemon we know… Decius! the guy who didn't believe a genocidal warlord was a god and thus got nurgle'd oh apparently Garro threw his remains into the sun they chat a bit about Meric, the apothecary who was trying to save Decius also im feeling unusually unfair and mean because it's garro

so i am not being charitable to this cliched dialogue i know i say this a lot but come on, man, do you have anything else to you that isn't nobly standing there while wielding what is apparently freaking excalibur?

and now over to the pilot of their associated storm eagle who just got called to missile the location where garro and his crew are

normally she wouldn't do this but garro is Just That Cool and has survived this before

flashbacks of all the primarch stupidity we've ran across run through the bluejay's brain

LoreLover: "divinity of the Emperor" lol once again, 30K fails at not being 40K

well to be fair divinity doesn't actually imply wisdom just i guess in this case puissance the old tales huh despite the cult being a relatively new thing RIP pilot, she gets eaten by the flies

back to worshipping the Emperor, Garro says a prayer for the Emperor to remember the pilot's soul and thinks about the inspirational text that is the Lectitio Divinitas

he thinks sadly about yet another pointless death Garro pins Decius with Libertas and then the psykers show up to kill the rest of the flies

so malcador…risks peoples lives for entertainment? lmao this is the book that is like "why does anyone laud this guy again" begrudgingly i have to admit that "doing things for the drama of it all" is a trait that tends to endear characters to me but i refuse to like this guy after the wyntor thing

oh hey back to Rubio's POV

but Rubio is kinda enjoying the freedom he gets that the highly organized Ultramarines don't really have there's a bunch of references in here to what are probably short stories apparently Malcador had Rubio tracking down a… ex-Night Lord librarian wait i think i remember that short story garro: so what's bothering you rubio internally: so many things lmao rubio externally: so, saw a guy kill himself to get away from malcador today

garro: i guess, kinda, but that time is running out lmao?

also apparently garro is the only speshul death guard and the rest who came on the eisenstein have still been locked up and or have a mysterious fate rubio knows garro is hiding something and decides to rummage around in his brain

there's a blank nearby who of course only became able to be sensed at that specific moment time to go into a collapsed building and find an unconscious sister of silence

she's got a crimson eagle tattoo on her neck Garro starts taking off her shirt to see more cmon dude she's catatonic and he finds her name rank and serial number tattooed on her collarbone and i feel like having your rank tattooed is kind of silly, what if you get promoted or demoted anyways he snaps the chains and pushes her to start walking geez garro you could at least pick her up

Garro and Rubio talk about how this is a mystery because she is speaking incoherently, and the sisters don't talk and also they don't travel alone garro, an intellectual: i think she has suffered some kind of psychological damage

surprise! it's malcador garro: can't you use a vox channel like a normal person? malcador: it's quicker and more direct, and less chance of my commands being "creatively interpreted" bruh? that last one? it's not like they can't do that when you're gone

so this is not the first Sister they've found like this Malcador orders Garro to take her to encrypted coordinates that he is…sending by vox

so rubio is now in command of the dudes the two of them wonder why malcador doesn't want to return her to her sisters garro gets his coordinates, and asks rubio to investigate around here to try and figure out what was going on so much for not creatively interpreting things, malc and chap ends there next time: teenage mortarion writes in his diary. finally we're getting to the good stuff, and i say that without one iota of irony

it's time for the next episode of the grimdark disney princess musical that is mortarion's life

mortarion is writing in his diary and he's feeling pretty down that his life is just this endless cycle

ow mortarion puts the pen down and broods and normally i'd probably say something mocking but you know what he deserves to brood he stares at his book collection and there's a whole thing about how originally necare didn't want to let him learn how to read but he grew too fast and he kinda resigned himself to it so it's all overlord books that are often contradictory

so yeah i don't think there's a definitive answer in canon about the Overlords and that's where Mortarion got his diaries after he used his eidetic memory to memorize the texts he soaked all the ink out of the books he looks out from the depressing discoloured walls into the depressing discoloured outdoors narration goes on a good bit about how everything on barbarus is toxic and mortarion thinks longingly about killing his dad

and that's when he hears gunshots

hi typhon! so typhon (it hasn't been revealed yet but he's fox face dude) opens up the machine and a whole bunch of humans come out, and mortarion realizes they were going to be experimented on by necare

typhon does something, presumably with his powers, to get a bunch of eel things to attack the golems, but it's pretty rough on him he yells up "what are you?" to mortarion and tells him he could help them

Mortarion thinks about how this is probably yet another test by Necare but whatever choice Mortarion makes, it'll be the wrong one so necare's got a lot of arbitrary and changing rules but the most solid one is, don't interact with the humans

just like in my disney movies… he starts shooting (and killing) the golems attacking typhon then dramatically jumps off the battlements he's fully committed to this treason flashback's over for now now i want the musical version of this…

HI IDK IF U REMEMBER ME IM THE ANON WHO GOT INTO CSM BC OF SELFISH AND BLUEBIRD AND. i just read bluebirds latest chapter and seriously, i cannot believe how you think this is your worst writing genuinely. its really late where i am and i am maybe half delirious as i type this but bluebird has always been my favorite writing from u bc of how profound it feels. the setting feels so real, every cancellable topic you tackle is handled in such a realistic way, in a way that i straight up cannot find in any other sort of fic. especially with your characterization?!?! there isnt too much known about what akis childhood was like but ur writing genuinely feels like canon to me like yes. this is what happened this is why he acts the way he does it just makes SENSE. and ur sense of repetition.. consistently leaving me in awe. the way that a certain sentence/phrase will reappear but even just a simple different context can transform the meaning entirely!! makes me wanna open my computer and start writing fr. i know bluebird is a really long project but i am willing to wait till year 3000 and sponsor a million words to see where it goes. please dont ever doubt yourself because your writing has, at least for me, had such an emotional impact on me and i have never felt so strongly towards any sort of media like i have with this

ik this probably makes no sense whatsoever im evidently going a little crazy 😞💔 but tldr: i love your writing i love bluebird if u ever continue this series i will be the #1 fan of every chapter thank u for existing 🩷🩷

Well. It starts in elementary school. I... don't actually have lore for Cleo and Scott for this part but I do for Pearl and Martyn! So Pearl and Martyn are the same age, and they went to Evolution Elementary and Middle. They're in the same building. People just call it Evo

Also Jimmy barely made it through that school bc the year after he graduated it got shut down bc it was hosting cult activities. hmmm. weird

All the Evo gang went to Evo Elementary. shocker. And Lizzie.

And then they graduated, and they went to Hermit High Academy. Which I love. All the Hermits are there, except for Joel and Skizz (THEY WEREN'T HERMITS WHEN THIS STARTED AND ID ALREADY DONE THIS BACKSTORY), Cleo (she was at EEP), Gem, and Scar.

Also EEP stands for Empires Education Program. I love the EEP. All Empires people went there.

hello it is now a completely different day and place (I'm at the kitchen table and it is midnight)

(It has been thirty minutes I'm in my bed again and I am going to fall asleep. I need to take my meds. I have now taken my meds. now if I wanted to I could just fall asleep. I'm gonna keep talking here.)

In the Empires Education Program (which is referred to by people who want to mock it and also the attendees of it as the eep. Others say Empires or E E P (separated letters)) there are two years of people attending that we care about.

Everyone that was in Empires or SOS, minus False, Pearl, Jimmy, and Gem is part of the EEP.

The secondary year we care about (the grade below) has Oli, Owen, Mog, Eloise, and a few others unnamed (prolly from Witchcraft) because I refuse to make this class smaller than Magic School Bus's.

Everyone (minus Pearl, Jimmy, and Gem) in Empires S1 is in the first year of EEP. The second year has everyone else (minus False) that was in Empires S2 and SOS.

The primary year we care about (the most plot relevant people are here) has Scott, Cleo, Lizzie, Joel, Shelby, Katherine, fWhip, Pix, Sausage, and Joey. You might notice that Cleo is in here, and they are not part of this group. Cleo is in here because I said so. Also I needed a place for her to be besties with Scott. And Cleo would be a great addition to this crew, just saying.

... genuinely it is a completely different day and I am in a separate building and I have no idea what my ultimatum here was

Anyways. Martyn is a vigilante, Pearl's a villain, Scott's a doctor, and Cleo's a professor.

The funny thing that I'm absolutely in love with is how they semi get along. but mostly don't.

see. Scott and Pearl had that whole scene where Pearl literally ran out of magic and started ripping it out of Scott's soul. Magic is part of your soul, so it comes from a similar place as your soulbond.

And so Scott and Pearl have a well justified rivalry. And also after they broke the soulbond -- OH I JUST REMEMBERED THE REALLY FUNNY SHIT -- they both became Worthy, Scott significantly earlier than Pearl.

I still gotta explain the Worthy thing dammit

Anyways the really funny shit is that normally, when you reject your soulbond, you essentially function exactly the same as a person without a soulbond except you've got a weird tattoo, and you will die at the same moment that they do.

EXCEPT the divorce quartet are part of the Eighteen (which irl are just the life series members), and this means that the rejection doesn't work. It works at first, and Pearl and Scott have silent minds for the first time ever, and then they hear the slight whisper of the other one's voice and just. they're suffering.

It's funny as fuck, imo, because I'm the sadist author that makes the characters suffer. hehe

essentially, the telepathy hurts more after they rejected it than before. And also they also have the normal consequence of "if the one dies, then the other one dies too" which normal soulmates don't have.

the way i want the gd same! the aftercare scenes were some of my absolute favorites to write, and i even saved them for last so that i could finally breathe after working on the rest lol. they're as much of a relief for me as the writer as they are for y'all and the characters. i'm so proud of reader for the car thing! bc we've seen them finally say something in basketball, but i think this was even better.

7. do you outline before writing? if so, what’s your outlining process like?

i have honestly got out of the habit of outlining which is very bad, this is why i keep struggling and getting stuck because i am someone who NEEDS an outline, but instead i've been just coming up with random scenes on the fly which works fine until i run out and then i end up sitting there like the fish in bags from finding nemo like 'now what, genius'

but my outlining process is basically just 'sit down and brainstorm, stare at various different beat sheets and story methods and try not to go insane'

also i have to outline by hand, that is very important. don't know why but it all has to be hand written.

11. are there some wips that you just don’t think you’ll ever finish?

much as i hate to admit it, and prefer to live in denial land where i'm convinced that every wip will one day get the ending it deserves, there are plenty of them that will more than likely never see the light of day 😭 the most notable one that comes to mind is that at one point i was planning to do another sequel to aftermath, that giant 500k s1 rewrite i did where barry and len were dating from before barry even became the flash. i have maybe 20-30k of a direct sequel to that that's basically a mashup of s5 and s6, where barry vanishes in crisis and then in a moment of desperation and poor decision making, len sends their adopted son back to try and prevent crisis from ever happening, only for them to discover that him travelling back is what causes crisis in the first place.

i genuinely LOVE that fic and what i wrote for it, but i feel like i've kind of moved on from those versions of the characters and grown so much as a writer and there are just so many things i don't like about the original fic that spawned it that i just. don't see myself ever finishing it, unfortunately. i feel like aftermath is a very stark contrast in my writing journey bc it was basically the last thing i wrote before doing my writing degree so there's such a huge difference in how i wrote and the whole vibe of it. i'll always be fond of aftermath but also im moderately embarrassed by it as well, so yeah. but maybe i will post snippets one day or something, because i genuinely LOVED the dynamic i wrote between michael and len, it was so fucking fun.

also i once wrote a fic where coldflash get whammied by a meta and, under the effects of what is essentially a metahuman love spell, decide to literally run off to vegas and get married and team flash have to hunt them down and try to stop it. this one feels like a crime because i have like 90% of it written so i would just have to finish and then edit it BUT i wrote it so long ago (we're talking like 2017) that to get it to a state i'd be happy with, i'd probably have to rewrite it in its entirety, so. never say never though cos now i'm thinking about it...

17. what do you do to motivate yourself to write?

i honestly have been struggling with this forever BUT im doing camp nanowrimo right now and it's actually been so motivating. i'm fighting for my life here bc i lost the last three nano events i did, capping out at like 35k each, after a previously unbroken streak of almost a decade, but this time i was like COME HELL OR HIGH WATER I REFUSE TO FAIL THIS TIME. i'm like 3k behind, but it's fine, probably... rocks back and forth in a dark room

HMMM i have a couple weird ones, because im me, but i think the weirdest would be the one where i just slap ashton into the whole situation i have going on with my job where they get hired to be reception (somehow??? he's baffled too honestly) and then ends up taking over bookkeeping because he has some level of prior experience due to all the temping hes done while trying to get out of manual labor work to save their increasingly fucked up body at least a little, and then revolves around him navigating getting his health under control and the fact that hes like... financially stable and almost well off???? for the first time in their entire life, with added bonus of the IT guy they deal with most for getting all the stuff set up to do bookkeeping is fucking cute as hell and they keep running into each other at the gym and then maybe something about taking care of both fcg and milo (even tho milo hates it) because finally ashton has money to meaningfully contribute to the well being of his friends. i will eventually write it because i think it'd be fun to put ashton into Situations in an entirely benign office setting when he's defintely not the sort youd think to be there, especially not in some sort of management situation, i just haven't figured out the rest of the cast lmao

H - What is your favorite source text for fandom stuff (e.g., TV shows, movies, books, anime, Western animation, etc.)?

broadly, it really depends. i am all over the map with where inspo comes from and just because i find inspo in one particular piece of media does not mean i'll latch onto something in the same vein even if you'd expect me to. even beyond format or indie vs mainstream, i'm wildly unpredictable when it comes to things like how fleshed out the characters i claim as mine are in source material and like even the kind of characters i find inspo in a lot of the time. like, ive written (but not finished) fic for crime procedurals so like...... my mileage certainly varies lmao

probably the trends are like: indie media or cult classics, things with found family, and things with characters who either have a solid base of unique traits to extrapoliate into a good personality or characters that are very well fleshed out and very unique

Oh my god oh my god ooooh my god. Strap in we're here for the long ride

(+ technically if you want to get specific Harrymort is Harry/Voldemort and Tomarry is Harry/Tom, it's a bit like Vaderwan vs Obikin if you see the distinction?)

Be warned that I tend to prefer long fics/that those stick to my mind better, because there's nothing like rushing through a 300k fic in a few days and having trouble readjusting to actual normal human life after it's done. I wrote down the ones I remembered of the top of my head and the ones I'd downloaded first, and then went through my AO3 bookmarks, so that's the order, they get shorter towards the end of the list. But anyway! Good Tomarrymort fics I have personally liked include:

• His Darkest Devotion by Lomonaaeren (45 chapters, 256k)

Harry Potter has been hiding in plain sight all his life, since he carries the soul-mark of Minister Tom Riddle on his arm—and a fulfilled soul-bond will double both partners’ power. His parents and godfather are fugitives, members of the Order of the Phoenix, and Harry is a junior Ministry official feeding the Order what information he can. No one, least of all him, expects Harry to come to the sudden notice of Minister Riddle, or be drawn into a dangerous game of deception.

It's very long but it's so good... I don't know if it's the best example of a Tomarry fic but I feel like the minister!Tom and not-very-good-guy Dumbledore are classics of the genre. Love how the author managed to keep the "oh no I shouldn't be with him" element on Harry's side when Tom hasn't killed his parents, as well as the gestion of the soulmates.

• Kept Man by Lomonaaeren (4 chapters, 18k)

Harry Evans is a lowly Dark Patrol wizard who’s working hard to advance. He doesn’t think much of Senior Undersecretary to the Minister Tom Riddle, but on the other hand, a one-night stand that lets them both get rid of tension seems like a good idea. Except that the one night-stand never seems to end.

If His Darkest Devotion seems too long, Kept Man is also well written but less of a monster. I appreciate the fuck you James Potter that doesn't turn to heavy bashing, that's cool

• anything & everything by exarite (6 chapters, 30k)

Featuring Sugar Daddy Tom and Trophy Husband Harry. Tom takes very good care of him, and in return, Harry gives him blanket consent.

Absolute forever fave I regularly go back and reread it it's just!! Their relationship!! Tom who is still very much not a good person!! The ending!! The mere fact there's plot and it's not just porn!! Literally in love. It's not very fluffy and cute and there's some fucked up stuff but isn't that why we're here?

• The Love of a Good Wizard by SweetSorcery (31 chapters, 75k)

History of Magic has something to teach after all, and two resourceful students decide that the key to having any future at all lies in the past, and in Tom Riddle's heart. Assuming he has one.

Usually I'm not a time travel person but hhhhh. Pansy accompanies Harry back in the 1940s to change the past and it's very cool. Also it has a happy ending!

• Custodarium by Tina48 (26 chapters, 73k)

Have you been missing a time travel Tomarry where Harry and Tom are on somewhat equal footing? Where Tom is a plausible budding political leader? Where Harry can stand up to him and their relationship doesn’t seem toxic? Where the surrounding events and characters don’t go unnoticed? I have, so I gave writing one a try. “The war is over and the Wizarding Britain has been slowly rising from the ashes. Harry just wishes none of it ever happened – what will he do when he’s given a chance to change the past? Was Dumbledore right about “the power he knows not” after all?“

The first Tomarry I remember reading! It's one of three time travel fics that have Harry going back to Tom's school years I always kind of confuse with each other, that one's ending always felt a little bittersweet to me for some reason but it's mostly very satisfying and fun.

• When in Rome by XblackcatwidowX (31 chapters, 164k)

When Harry and Hermione inadvertently tumble half a century into the past, they find themselves in the same year as the notorious Head Boy, Tom Riddle. Both Harry and Hermione's courage will be tested when they are confronted by chances of romance from the most unexpected of places, and unlikely enemies hiding in the tallgrass. Lost in the past, they may well forget the way home. Not DH compliant.

The third one of the time travel back to Tom's school years fics, but this one's ending always depresses me lol. Not that it's not good! I just don't go to it to be cheered up. The story is really cool though

Also it has some nice references to authors in the fandom, I know exarite and MaidenMotherCrone are mentioned as authors in it and there's probably more I haven't read fics from (yet) so that's a good source of authors if you need more by any chance.

An unexpected twist during the final battle has Harry trapped inside a magical artifact with only his greatest enemy for company. The Carcerem will release them, but the requirement for freedom is an impossible one, for neither Harry Potter nor Tom Riddle will ever forgive the other.

This is going on the list for Tom gutting fish and the creepy thing with the portraits when they're in the Carcerem. That part genuinely fucking terrified me I remember reading it at night and being scared so bad it hasn't left my mind since. The rest isn't terrifying it just really stuck with me lol (also it does have a sequel but I haven't read it because the mood was depressing me and I wasn't in the right mindset to enjoy it)

I won't lie, I'm not up to date on it, but I should be because it's good. That's it that's the rec. My memories are too hazy to really speak of the story but when I caught up to it maybe a year or two ago I sent the author an overly enthusiastic ask on Tumblr at 3 in the morning and that's a good sign I feel like

• literally anything that sounds interesting by Anna_Hopkins/Chaotic_Smutty (or even their SW fics, they've written one or two)

• ... but my faves are Dark Livestream and its AUs (22/? chapters, 83k)

Voldemort, unexpectedly short on money and growing tired of both Wormtail's existence and Nagini's incessant pleas to eat the wizard, has a most brilliant idea: crowdfunding, and the first reward tier is a livestreamed broadcast of Nagini getting her wish. It is a massive success -- and the people demand more. Said 'people' just so happens to include one Boy-Who-Lived.

This fic gets me feeling the emotion equivalent of shrimp colours. Every time it updates I drop everything to read it. The crack taken seriously the UST with Harry and Voldemort the super cool magic the meeting of fandom and magic just !!!! Absolute forever fave. Love of my life light of my days. The AUs where different choices are made and different things happen are so fun too I love when authors do that!!

• ... Petty Catharsis (2 works, 1+4/? chapters, 17k total)

Harry sends Voldemort anonymous hatemail, trolling him in childish ways. Instead of being pissed, Voldemort indulges him and starts responding, clapping back with witty comebacks. Harry sends him a crude drawing of a naked Voldemort with a dick so small it curls inwards. Voldemort responds with his actual measurements, and a detailed drawing. Harry doesn’t write back for days. His stupid plan for petty catharsis backfired, and now he can’t stop thinking about Voldemort’s dick.

Pure smut but it's excellent. I'm not gonna comment on the porn it's just - it's just good.

• ... and Cruciatus (he's not going anywhere after this) (480 words)

Voldemort arrived to Malfoy Manor before the Trio could make their escape. The Dark Lord summoned Harry up to the throneroom; while he distracted everyone upstairs, Harry had explained, they should all take Dobby's help to escape.

Also just smut but it's probably my favourite Tomarry short smut fic. Exactly what the title says.

• duplicity's fics (@/duplicitywrites) I've read a few from her and I could recommend you some (Voldemort's Assassin Hotline, V is for Vampire, the Sugar Universe or In the Daylight Again are good) but honestly she just consistently writes good fics so if you see one that seems to have a nice summary, go for it (though I haven't read all of them, or even most of them)(also in her series is the "bottom Tom agenda" one if you want to spice things up a little)

• the Architecture series by Saeva (3 works, 2+4+5 chapters, 80k total)

Four years after Tom Riddle Jr walked out of the Chamber of Secrets whole, a girl's cold body left in his wake, Harry Potter married Lord Voldemort to settle a truce between their factions that would grant protection for both sides. This is the kinky, complicated, and emotionally wrought story of what came after as an immortal Voldemort and his young consort struggle to find a balancing point between internal peace and external connection. Also, lots and lots of sex.

Back to fucked up stuff! the consent is dubious, the dynamic is compelling and the smut is well-written, what more can I say. I also recommend the author's other fics, notably Needs Met, because the non-sexual submission in it kinda felt like a revelation.

• A Story of Mortality by this_bright_eyed_soul (14 chapters, 72k)

Dark Lord Harry Potter was born 1914, and was instrumental in defeating Grindelwald. A powerful force in politics, the rising Lord Voldemort cannot avoid him, but instead of the rivalry he wishes for, political circumstances force an alliance. While both their similarities and differences clash, they cannot help but become closer over time, and both have lessons still to learn.

This one is an AU so it's not what their general dynamic and vibe tends to look like but like. It's good. I don't think I could ever get myself to read the end because I knew I was going to bawl my eyes out and I didn't feel like it back then, and after that I didn't go back to it, but !! It's good!!

• I was going to include another fic but it's not going to be most people's taste, so if you're interested in a series with a pretty specific kink that develops a plot, that's heavy on the politics and - heavy in general, ask me again :') it's dear to my heart but I feel weird exposing my heart in public like that haha

• (the bad flirting) among us by RenderedReversed (4.5k)

They're voice actors playing Among Us. That's it that's the fic. It's more pre-slash than anything but <3 <3

• Hand Size by RenderedReversed (1.1k)

In which Harry is kind of obsessed with Voldemort’s hands. Voldemort is reluctantly indulgent.

I genuinely think about that fic on a regular basis when I notice people's hand sizes. Twice or thrice I've asked friends of mine to compare hand sizes because of it.

• How's the weather (am I better) by RenderedReversed (6.6k) (I hadn't realised I liked so many of their fics wow)

Harry's heat comes two weeks early. Unfortunately, he's alone, dehydrated, and pretty sure Kyogre and Groudon are duking it out in his stomach, because that's the only logical explanation for pre-heat cramps this bad.

Now I know, omegaverse pokémon AU sounds like a lot, but I really love it, and if you do too I recommend the series with the rest of the AU

Tom Riddle has always wholeheartedly believed in slow manipulations. And perhaps, in some small, stupid, dastardly little part of himself, he sees them as something akin… to falling in love.

There were six in total, and each served a particular purpose. Or rather, a particular sexual mood that Voldemort wished to indulge in the nights he called for them. It seemed unfair that the others got to use his body to feel things he hadn’t yet explored for himself. The more of these dreams he had, the more he begun to imagine exploring it with Voldemort. He could, couldn’t he? Harry could pretend to be one of the death eaters pretending to be him.

alright, stats time. numbers! percentages! analysis!

GO ME! i finished my writing challenge last night. though i have done them before, i have never had a 30 day streak--my longest was 11 days, previously.

NANOWRIMO "GOAL": 50k words in a month. lol nope i didn't even plan to do that but that's the perspective i'm putting the post in

MY GOAL: add 30k to IBW.

fail. i added 5.2k to IBW in the end, the equivalent of finishing just one chapter. basically, I completed 17% of my goal. not something I'm happy about but i did inevitably mostly get past a thing that was giving me trouble.

MY SECOND GOAL: add 30k aggregated to any projects

total word count: 21,366. that's techinically a fail but i'm not gonna count it because i reached 70% of my target wordcount AND THAT'S GOOD ENOUGH FOR ME!!! 70 is a passing grade afterall :] if we want to put this in perspective of nano, i basically completed 40% of nano, which is great for a first-ever run (especially since i have never completed a 50k fic so far, let alone in a month. baby steps for me, i just do not write that quickly.)

MY THIRD GOAL: write something every day

SUCCESS! i did do that and i am very proud of it. it was shockingly hard sometimes. during the challenge i was like "i am never doing this again" and now literally less than a day after im like "hm i should do this again next year!" why am i like this? who knows!

So, let's look at other stats.

Number of fics worked on: four. (IBW, grumbot fic mainly, hitchhiker's au, and tumble town gothic)

Fanfic started and completed within the month: do you see no ghosts in me at all? (13,651 words). This means that ~64% of my time was spent on this fanfic, compared to any others (if we go by word count, as i don't remember which days specifically were used on this versus the others)

Average daily wordcount: 712 words. again, to reach the 30k goal i needed roughly 1k on average per day, so this is again about 70% of that. It is worth noting that my average for my last writing challenge in the spring was 548, so I did much better on average this month despite being forced to do it in a much longer streak. that's probably because the 0 wordcount days in the last challenge dragged the average down, so writing every day helped me a lot.

Lowest daily WC: 131

Highest daily WC: 1897

i think both of those were the same fic actually (grumbot fic.) the low wordcounts mostly represented lack of time, as i would stop writing whenever it got so late that i started falling asleep midsentence. however low wordcounts on IBW mostly represent lack of inspiration, except for the day 30, where it represented research.

all in all, i think it was a successful challenge. i'm still in writing mode and was already thinking about what i could do tonight, which is great because like...i am no longer beholden to this challenge but am still wanting to keep going (i'll just likely not force myself to do anything anymore if it's like 11:30pm and i havent done anything. i will just go to bed instead.)

the main lesson here is that i can Do Things when i want to really force myself to do, which is good because i often doubt my own abilities especially in connection with my writing. it's very personal compared to other stuff i do, so i very much love and appreciate everybody's support and kind reviews because i straight up would not be here or doing any of this without you. like i would have just gone back to hide under a rock lol.

i feel like completing these challenges gives me a lot more confidence in myself and my abilities, and gives me momentum to make consistent progress on my works even when things are a little rough. sometimes in writing you just Gotta Do It even if there isnt much inspiration, because it'll unlock the way for other scenes where you DO have inspiration.

now then. if someone can tell me why i was able to fully complete inktober for two years in a row, and pull off two of these writing challenges in one year, but CAN'T stick with actual responsible adult habits--
