#i'm an aries this is aggravating

idk if you've seen what happened in Valencia, Spain. It was strongly hit by DANA recently, on October 29, and it was the worst DANA catastrophe out of all Spain history. It's been a real madness, and what angers people the most is the bad management of the government. If they had acted well, many lives would've been saved, because they were preventable deaths. The help the victims got was mostly by other civilians and a huge long story that I wouldn't be able to end if I had to tell it all.

My point is, if you find it interesting and you heard about it you could analyze the astrology behind all these events, 'cause this event definitely is a turning point for spanish people.

Oh, I'm seeing it now. What you're telling me sounds very familiar, the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul went through a similar catastrophe in April this year, when incredible heavy rains and storms flooded rivers, lakes and destroyed entire cities, and all because the government hasn't been doing what's needed to prevent this. It's a very predictable event caused by climate change's aggravation of the effects of El Niño. It was the worst we've seen, 94% of Rio Grande do Sul's cities were affected. To get an idea, Rio Grande do Sul is a big state, like more than half a Spain.

I think I wouldn't be able to give a deep analysis of what's happening in Spain, I don't have the lived experience of the country and not much context. I only dare make analysis for the USA because that's the imperial core and those mfs politics affect the whole world.¹ So, this is just a superficial reading and I think I can compare it to Brazil, because we had the same ascendant and consequently the same house placements on the Aries Ingress chart, and it's interesting to see how the different degrees of the angles change predictions a whole lot. I actually have something on my drafts about other aspects of the climate crisis for Brazil this year, I'm glad you asked this question so I can introduce the topic.

I've been attributing these latest escalations of the climate crisis to Saturn in Pisces. We're to expect this realistically and I believe Saturn in Pisces is fitting, because as the last sign it has a bit of an apocalyptic/endings theme to it and it's been very scary how things are escalating now.² To make this clear, the sky isn't to blame and astrology does not cause any of these issues, it just shows tendencies through symbols. Any prediction heavily depends on context and the context of climate change, of bad urban planning etc is of our own political leaders' making and their inaction.

Madrid and Brasília both have gotten Capricorn rising on the Aries Ingress 2024, and that happens for many places, but the annual ruler for each country differs depending on the strength and condition of the planets that have dignity on the exact degree of the ascendant. If we get a cardinal sign rising, in order to analyze the whole year we need to open up 3 more complementary charts for each of the next seasons. This is how hard mundane astrology is.

Brasília

Here's how things looked for Brasil. The 4th house and the IC are obviously always affected when we get catastrophes like this. The Sun is in the 4th house here, but the IC is in Pisces with Saturn and Venus. We also have to consider that these planets are moving and soon we're going to see Mars get into Pisces too. On the degree where Saturn finds itself there's a fixed star called Alpha Hydrus, (the male Hydra, a water snake), which is a more obscure constellation near the south pole that represents the tail end of the river Eridanus.³

Three weeks after the Aries Ingress, Mars meets Saturn. One of the most important conjunctions to watch for in mundane astrology is the Mars-Saturn one, because they're famous for signaling calamity and disease. And they're a lot more frequent than the Great Conjunctions (Jupiter-Saturn). The chart for their conjunction can be interpreted, but to keep it short, I'm just going to say that the conjunction was in the 6th house and they met at 14°, on top of the fixed star Achernar of the river Eridanus. One of the worst things about the floods was that it meant a lot of spreading of diseases through the water, which happens with Mars-Saturn in water signs.

Full Moon in Scorpio

Soon after the conjunction, the Full Moon in Scorpio came with Mars-Saturn in the 4th house this time, and that's when it happened. Notice how Mars reached the conjunction with the IC of the Aries Ingress, where there's another fixed star very much related to stories involving water: Markab, of the Pegasus constellation, who in the myth used its hooves to create a spring on Mount Helicon. The Full Moon is in fall in the 12th house, ruling the 8th, indicating huge loss.

I also recommend this analysis made by a local astrologer from Rio Grande do Sul where she compares this year to another historical flood in 1941 that had similar configurations, and she takes Uranus and Jupiter into account, because of how in mundane astrology Jupiter (especially Mars-Jupiter) gets associated with storms and rain.

Spain

Now, in Spain, the Aries Ingress didn't indicate this so strongly, because the IC isn't in Pisces. But still, the Mars-Saturn conjunction still happened and here Mars also rules the 4th house. And then Jupiter is on the IC, with the close aspect to Saturn in Pisces. But because we're on Scorpio season, we should look at the Libra Ingress chart, where Jupiter acts as the ruler for the trimester and it's ruling the 4th. Notice how it has anticia with Mars in fall in the 8th, who rules the IC. And then Saturn actually falls in the 4th house now. This is how the lingering effects of a Mars-Saturn conjunction shows up: whenever aspects are made between them we can prepare to see something. The Mars-Saturn-Venus water grand trine also had something to do with the hurricanes in the gulf of Mexico.

The Full Moon in Aries and the New Moon in Scorpio

The disaster happened after the Full Moon in Aries, which also had Sagittarius rising. When a lunation shows that kind of similarity to the Ingress chart we can count on seeing the most significant events of the season or year. The IC is the same too, but the Moon is there with it. It has extra importance because of the aspect to the ascendant. Full Moons have to do with big events related to the masses. Here it makes a square to Mars in the 8th in mutual reception. Because this happened very near the end of the lunation and it's probably still going on to some degree, you should also see the chart for the New Moon in Scorpio. Here there's similitude with the Aries Ingress and now Mars looks directly at the ascendant degree ruling the lunation.

Those are my simple observations, but I bet there's better local astrologers who can do this with much more skill and lived experience of Spain; because I think that's important, not only to understand the astrology better, but also to give it a heart, and not look at these horrible things from a detached point of view.

sadly, i cannot go into specifics in Joe's chart, but this question's timing is so !!

there are currently 4 planets transiting the sign of Taurus: Sun, Venus, Mercury, and Jupiter. 5 if you would like to count the outer planets. (6 actually because the moon is sitting in Taurus as i'm typing this lol)

this is all happening 7th from the sign of Scorpio, and Joe is a Scorpio moon and sun. and as we all know, 7H is the house of marriage, relationships, contracts, etc. depending on the actual horoscope though, this could be a very stressful time for change in relationships or the just opposite.

so i am not surprised to see the curiosity and speculation around his love life heighten around this time, with such an intense stellium in Taurus atm.

(this goes for Taurus natives as well, since this is playing out in their 1H/7H axis. but for Taurus, health/body/image would likely be more of a priority)

i can imagine that this is an aggravating transit for Joe though, because Mars entered Aries not long ago. this coupled with Saturn's current aspect to Scorpio (in Aquarius), he might be feeling the urge to cut corners. Saturn here is also looking down at Mars, so Saturn is watching to see how Mars will behave when confronted with delays. It can feel stressful rn! especially as his Saturn and Ketu in Pisces are hemmed between Saturn and Mars atm.

discipline seems to be the theme in the next month for Scorpio natives. but for everyone, this is an excellent time to quit a bad habit!

Astro Observations #2

Note: I'm not an astrologer. These observations are the result of my thoughts, theories, opinions and personal experiences.

💥  I've noticed that people with mars in aries tends to have anger issues, obviously there may be others placements in the natal chart that can aggravate or ease these problems but in general various people I've met with this placement had problems with the expression or the managment of rage.

💔 Pluto or Chiron in the 11th house can lead to have traumatic experiences in the sphere of friendships, feeling excluded from the cricle of friends, having no friends due to negative breakups, or in general having negative experiences in this environment that can lead to have no trust in friends or friendship.

👩‍❤️‍💋‍👩 In a synastry chart having the sun/moon conjunct to the other person moon/sun can make you feel truly understood by that person and in moments of mental crisis, anger or sadness you feel that the person can really understand the root of your most intimate feelings.

⌛️Mercury in a fire sign (especially leo and aries) can make someone impatient or create someone that hate people that speak too slowly or take too much time and reasoning in explaining a concept.

🧠 Having multiple personal planets in air signs (especially the moon and mercury) can create someone that love books or loves to learn.

🌛🌜I've noticed that opposite signs (for example leo and aquarius, libra and aries, cancer and capricorn etc.) in some cases can really deeply love or deeply hate eachother and even if they love eachother they are really good at precisely point out the defects of the other person. The opposition is a tension aspect but it also works as a mirror, so the signs even if they are different for some charateristics they are similar for others and no one can figure out your flaws at a glance like your opposite sign.

Eden's usual energy fueled by passion seemed to have undertones of annoyance and anger to them. Ari Melber FACT-CHECKS Stephen Miller LIVE

Everybody knows I love "The Beat with Ari Melber," but tonight's segment was so damn frustrating due to Stephen Miller's raging that I have to vent about it to my brilliant audience.

Let's break down the bullshit we bore witness to, and how well Melber handled said bullshit.

Tonight, I watched Trump-affiliate Stephen Miller yell at Ari Melber on the latter's own show, put loosely, about how it was election deniers' legal right to deny the results of the 2020 election. Imagine berating a bright legal mind like Ari Melber, calling the just prosecution of seditious insurrectionists a "clear cut case of government against innocent people," as if those people were innocent in any way. Especially those in power who pulled the strings around that time. He went on to berate the processes in place, saying that what the MAGA team urged Pence to do was somehow just and legal. He claimed that remanding votes to the six swing states and flipping the results would have been a perfectly normal, legal thing to do; electon fraud is a serious crime. As if Stephen Miller knows shit about the law, let alone the law at hand. He went on to scream about Republicans lawyers being prosecuted for their "Good, sound legal advice," as if that's true in any way. We all know why Trump's counsel always face the utmost in legal consequence; they are the legitimate definition of malpractice. It was aggravating, to say the least, and Miller's inability to speak in any variation of a calm tone was even more so—props to Melber for being the professional he is the entire interview. He's my favorite anchor.

More was said—well, screamed—but I digress.

The real kicker—one of them, at least—was when Melber questioned Miller on his own fucked way of thinking. Essentially, if what they wanted Congress and Pence to do in putting an alternate slate through and overturning the results was legal and just, then surely it'd be so if Harris were to do the same thing this time. Of course, Miller wasn't having any of it, going on to trip over every word through the remainder of the interview to somehow justify getting caught. It was a messy interview, but it had to be done.

It was beautiful to see Melber be so calm and assertive, though. He's a prime example of what I'm talking about when I give advice on arguing. He barely had to say a word besides pointing out the fallacies and thanking Miller for his time. Sometimes, all it takes to win an argument is to be the sane one, and Melber did an excellent job. That's not all he did, but that would have been enough. A stellar performance from him.

I also appreciate Ari Melber for platforming the ideas of the far-right to remind those of us who may have forgotten how legally and ethically unsound they are. I believe in each and every one of our rights to free speech and expression; even if what's expressed is objectively wrong.

You have to be willing to face the consequences for what you say and do, though, i.e. defamation suits, which Melber reminded Miller are a thing.

I really don't want this blog to be a partisan one since the law doesn't have a political leaning, and in no way would I ever prescribe it one. That being said, though, I can't just sit back and watch this breed of weirdos tear apart the law and act like that's totally normal. As long as they shit on what I swore to uphold, I'm going to do just that in every capacity—even on this blog.

Believe what you want, but believe in the law.

The butler shook his head, "The last I knew she was refereeing the children's latest argument and attempting to finish finalizing her preparations for- well frankly I've lost track of what she's doing. Honestly-"

"Thank you, Alfred," Bruce said, trying to head off a lecture.

"She was very sick," he said, barely keeping the disapproval out of his voice.

"I know," Bruce said softly, feeling his stomach turn. He wanted to believe you were back to normal. Managing his children, his home, and his heart with your usual zeal. But he knew that wasn't quite true.

"Master Bruce-"

"I know-"

"She's one woman. Exceptional, certainly. But. A body can only take so much. And her health has never been particularly robust."

Bruce exhaled slowly. He thought that he'd faced his fears. But last year had shown him that wasn't true. Because the thought of being without you. The memory of you, barely breathing and drawn. Eyes open but not really seeing- it made a chill race down his spine. He left without another word. Wondering if you'd gone in search of a few minutes of quiet. When he found your study empty, he turned towards the bedroom. And a swirl of sweet-smelling steam from the ensuite bathroom made him relax, just slightly.

"Sweetheart?"

When you made no reply, he walked forward, loosening his tie and unbuttoning his cuffs to roll them up as he cast his jacket onto a chair. He didn't expect you to answer. Not really. He'd only wanted to avoid startling you. The last thing he wanted was a bedroom full of children who thought you were in mid-peril. He stopped in the doorway and smiled a little.

Dim light from your candles cast curious shadows on the wall and if he didn't know better, he'd say you were trying to set a mood, not avoid aggravating a headache. "Mrs. Wayne," he said, coming to set on the edge of the tub, "It is half past noon, what on earth are you doing?"

"Sulking," you answer, taking a sip from your wine glass.

"Sulking or pouting?" he hummed, reaching out to brush hair out of your eyes.

"Does it matter?"

Chuckling, he kissed your forehead tenderly, letting his fingertips brush the side of your neck, "Not really." You'd had, he knew, maybe two glasses of wine but the temperature of the tub- how you could stand water that hot he didn't know- likely made it feel like more. And if it were anyone else, he might be worried. But you didn't allow yourself to play lady of leisure often. "Long day?"

"And it only just started," you sigh, "I just- I just-" you break off and look away, frustrated with yourself.

Bruce felt his heart twist when you look away, looking up when you feel your eyes water to try and keep from crying. And he captures your chin in his hand, smoothing his thumb over your jaw tenderly. He wishes he could articulate. Explain that you don't have to worry. And why. Because he loves you. Because the children would be happy to help. Because no one could ever replace you- but he can't. So he kisses you instead. Gratified when you soften, just a little.

"No more today," he rumbled, "you're tired, that's all."

"But-"

"No Buts, sweetheart," he interrupted, "you need rest."

"Pot meet-"

"That's not the same thing," he frowned.

"Isn't it?"

"No," he said firmly. "I'm benching you for today- and maybe tomorrow."

You take a deep breath and he can see you building an argument.

"Please?" he pleaded softly, "Before you tell me you're fine, let me at least get your back?"

And you can't tell him no. Not when the thought of his hands sliding over your skin, his clever fingers searching out knots and sore muscles you'd gotten so used to you'd forgotten about them, sounded so very tempting.

"Fine but-"

"We'll see how you feel later," he hummed, smiling to himself when you turn so he can only see your back. Baby steps, he figured. He'd get you to lie down and rest one way or the other, he just had to get one more glass of wine in your belly and let the hot water do its job.

Yes, be mindful of all but you can also bring up some of your innocence, an open approach to learning how to live life, at least inside your heart. You can tackle the fights around you. Don't be at war with yourself, you can do this! Keep reality in mind and take a light approach on how you deal with the struggles to advance that come your way.

But I feel good about being an Aries, and about my Libra Moon in Algorab in the 12th. My Moon is the thing I feel "identified" with the most and for me it's the most obvious. My day-to-day is all 12th house, especially because I'm still in university (Moon rules the 9th), but this is definitely going to persist later. I really enjoy my study groups on Foucault, or the brazilian anti-asylum movement and reform... And I isolate a lot as well. Even my thing for astrology has to do with my Moon, because it's still a 9th house topic, and Algorab is a fixed star that has to do with divinatory practices. I also experienced a lot of difficult things about that Moon that were very impactful, the most recent as I had my 12th house profection while Saturn was making a square. I already had had difficult times with it during adolescence, but it always impacts my mental health greatly and I go insane for a while, it's not an easy placement. Besides being in the 12th, Algorab is considered a malefic star, a lot of times it has to do with "treason", grief and melancholy, and things aggravate because the 12th also has to do with that by being the house of hidden enemies, loss and self-undoing.

The fact that a lot rely on just watching women get hurt. It's really annoying. Or dehumanized, embarrassed, etc. Make them as vulnerable as possible and then watch them die. Irks me. Also the fact that most slashers are just white dudes. Gimme some variety.

If they mean from the Halloween franchise, idk because I haven't watched them all. For the holiday it's gotta be Hocus Pocus. Or 31.

Hm... love the things Wes Craven has done. Also Ari Aster does some pretty cool shit in his movies despite being newer. I like Jordan Peele but I'm too stupid to understand his style.

I enjoy watching bad movies so I'm going with like, they're bad and I would not watch them again. Not they're bad and I like them lmao (like The Happening - bad, but I like it.)

1 - The Green Inferno. It had potential but the story was dumb as hell. You mean to tell me this tribe out in the rainforest will see a group of college kids who are directly next to a plane crash in bright jumpsuits and go, "oh these people are from our rival tribe, better cannibalize them." Nah, fam. Idk the setup was blah for me.

2 - Fantasy Island. I enjoyed this movie until like the last hour. I really liked the premise but then it just... uuuugh. The ending was aggravating af.

3 - Blair Witch 2. Man, what a letdown of a sequel lmao.

4 - Silent Hill: Revelation. You mean to tell me Jon Snow is Father Vincent? Gtfo. What even was this? They had a good cast to work with and just... come ooonnnn.

5 - Paranormal Activity. I might catch some hate for this one but idk I thought it was kinda boring?

Honorable mention - Cloverfield. I got too motion sick while trying to watch it to actually finish it, so it couldn't make the list as I've only seen about half of it.

Summary: Just another story about the split, with a twist.

In the most elegant castle in the imagination, it wasn't unheard of for the king of the realm to have some issues. After a fit of kicking, crying, and screaming, he was tired and needed a nap. Unfortunately he couldn't afford one yet, so he sat on the floor in front of a golden full body mirror.

"Do you think that Curiousity and Feely will call me next?" he asked his reflection. The little boy in a gray tunic and regal purple vest with gold and silver embroidery trim stared back at him with a matching pout. 

"You're right. It's probably Pressy the Snake and the Scardey Spidey!" he laughed bitterly, "It doesn't matter!"

He eyed his reflection thoughtfully and groaned, flopping on his back. His ceiling was the only blank space in this room, his room, and he wanted to fill it with something to match his personality. He had a million ideas, that wasn't the problem. 

"Markie!" a voice called to him, pulling him from his safe haven and into the brightest part of the mind. He rose up with his usual flourish and glanced around the room. Two boys his age with glasses were standing next to each other with matching grins. 

"Hello?" King Marcus asked more than greeted. He did not like the looks of these two right then. They were up to something, some harmless mischief in need of a little magic.

"Markie! Markie!" the boy with an indigo shirt and tattered overalls cheered, "You know how Thomas just watched Aladdin again?"

"Yes? I'm a part of him and I don't like rewinding that VHS so I don't want to watch it again." Marcus pouted. He wanted to go back to his room and relax for a while, but no! 

"We don't want to watch it again," the other boy in a cyan tee shirt with a kitten on it giggled, "Curiosity wants to explore Agrahbah and I don't want him to get in trouble on his own." 

"Uh huh," Markie frowned. 

"We want you to come with us and show us that part of your Endless Kingdom."

"It would be so nice to see part of your world with you and it would be a lotta fun." Feely beamed and clasped his hands in front of him in a pleading gesture. Curiosity was bouncing where he stood, excited to see what could be seen. Marcus, exhausted and stressed out, hated to shatter their excitement.

"Right this way!" he cheered and sank out with them.

"I am such a dummy!" Marcus groaned to his equally aggravated reflection. Of course the journey into the imagination was going to make him more tired! Of course he couldn't exactly say no to those two excited kids. He felt twice his age, like eight. 

"At least they're napping now!" Markie groaned and plopped down to sit on the floor, "I wanna take a nap! But I can't sleep!" He slammed his chubby fists on the floor and scrunched up his face. It was not time to cry like a baby. His reflection was just as close to breaking down too. 

"Hey, it's okay. You can cry." Markie said and got on his knees, "You won't cry unless I do. But I can't yet." He wiped his eyes on his sleeve and plastered a smile on his face.

The reflection's smile was just as strained. He ran a hand through his hair and wilted, as if he could think of something better to do. 

"Soon the scary ones will call me. They have the fun ideas. I like the adventures but every so often I want to fight monsters and dragons." He paused and rolled his neck and shoulders. They would call him soon enough. 

"No I like the adventures a lot! They're fun and I can sing as much as I want—I don't get to sing around Fear because that makes him jumpy. But I get to be the bad guy, and it's fun!" He argued with the reflection. 

"You're right, they're both fun. I guess I just like it when I can be mean." 

"Highness!" a calm lisping voice called to him. This time he sank out and appeared in the darker part of the mind. A young boy in a yellow raincoat and a black tee shirt with a snake on it. He was the only one with two eye colors but that was the only odd thing about him.

"Where's Fear?" Marcus asked when he didn't see the spidering. Pressy crossed his arms and shook his head. 

"Fear doesn't want to eat the cookies I made. He's on the ceiling." Marcus looked up and saw the telltale red diamond and four spindly legs on a hoodie-clad boy who was hiding his face. 

"You're too young to bake!" Fear hissed, "What if they're poisonous or try to eat me instead!?" 

"Pressy made them, not me!" Markie huffed. 

"So they don't sing! Big deal!" Fear hissed.

"Kingy, you don't gots to turn into a monster," Pressy sighed and summoned a plate of lopsided chocolate chip cookies, "All you gots to do is eat one so scardey spidey will eat." 

"That's all?" Marcus questioned and took a cookie. Pressy bit his lip and nodded, trying to contain his excitement. Marcus bit off a piece and chewed thoughtfully. The only question was, should he fake his death and take the rest of the cookies, or try and get Fear to eat. They were that good.

"Fear," Marcus said once he was finished, "If you don't get down here I'm taking the rest!" Pressy beamed proudly. That smile fell when Fear hissed at them. 

"He gots to eat," Pressy pouted. Marcus hated to see such an expression on his friend's face. He snatched that plate of cookies and grew six spider legs. Fear would eat!

"Argh!" Markie groaned when he returned from the fun little spider chase that ended with Fear eating the cookies and a pile of sides on the floor. It was too much! He shoved past his bed and sat in front of the mirror, finally allowing himself to cry.

"It's not fair!" he sobbed, "Everyone needs Markie! Everyone needs Kingy!" And he was right. Fear and Pressy needed him for his scary ideas, the ones Thomas didn't like, the ones Feely was trying to push away. Feely and Curiosity needed him for adventures and making stuff. He was being torn apart at the seams! 

"I don't want to be Marcus anymore!" 

"Then don't," his own voice responded. He stared at his reflection and calmed his crying. 

"What?" 

"Don't be Marcus anymore," his reflection said independent of his movements.

"But how?" 

"You need another you, right? You're Creativity." 

"I can make another me!" Marcus gasped and placed his hands on the mirror.

His fingers trembled as they slipped through the glass. His reflection grabbed his hands, letting the King pull him out of the mirror.

"C'mon! You can do it!" the reflection shouted as the barrier became more like gelatin. Marcus pulled with all his might, his reflection inching his way into the world. 

Bam! 

Marcus fell backwards with his double collapsing on top of him. The mirror shattered and collapsed with a bang, and Marcus could feel a change stirring within him right before he and his double passed out.

It was morning when the two awoke. One of the two sat up and rubbed his head. He felt light and full of inspiration. He glanced at his arms and saw the white jacket with gold trim. He bit back a squeal at the discovery. Then he saw his twin who looked like he had two black eyes and a white streak in his hair. His outfit was black and messier than his own. He nudged the other gently.

"Ow!" The other grunted and sat up. He got one look at his twin and beamed. 

"It worked!" he chuckled, "Now Feely and Curiosity have a side to play with! And so do Pressy and Fear!"

"I remember them, specially Curiosity and Feely. Everything is so fuzzy." 

"Well that's okay. They probably won't like me and I can remind you of stuff!"

"What's your name?"

"M—us" the boy yawned, "Remus."

"Remus? Okay! I'm—I’m Roman!" Roman giggled sheepishly. From that day on, Marcus was no more, red and green were claimed, purple was abandoned, and Thomas' head got so much more interesting.

Remus sat on his bed and stared at the old broken mirror. He was far from content with the way the mindscape shifted, the way Virgil left. But it wasn't his fault. 

"I should have left you in there. The split was bound to happen eventually but I shouldn't have forced it." he mused bitterly, "Now look at me, I remember it all, the memories of a stranger. No wonder they think I'm demented. Even I can't tell how it went down for sure!

"Markie snapped and had no idea what would happen when he pulled you out of there, Aries. Just for kicks, I think I'll bludgeon who you've become and sing about being a menace. Should be bloody, gory, and fun! Ta-ta!"

A very important history lesson and why we have to fight back this time.

A lot of people saw the White Tears Death March at Michigan's capitol & said: "If black people did that..."

"Some mentioned Reagan's gun control law after '67 Panthers protest But there are many historical examples of white people freaking out when blacks protested.

After the Not-So-Civil War, this happened ALL THE TIME.

Remember, the states that got their asses kicked were not automatically allowed back into the Union. Southern white supremacists were so scared when blacks exercised their new right to vote that they started a race war. 

In 1866, La. reconvened its Constitutional Convention because Democrats were trying to stop blacks from voting. (This was before conservative Southern "states rights" advocates switched became Republican. We'll get to that)

Of course, black people marched (but not like that). 

When the black people showed up, a group of white supremacists (Y'all call them "Confederates now — same thing) was waiting on them and opened fire.

To be fair, the black ppl weren't actually protesting, per se when the racists opened fire. They were doing something much worse: 

They were dancing and playing music.

Y'all, those racist bastards opened fire on a MARCHING BAND.

Then this happened:

Partly because of the New Orleans Massacre, Congress passed the First Reconstruction Act. Black Louisianans were guaranteed the right to vote but the act did something else that would make the racists even madder.

It took away the right to vote for any ex-Confederate. 

If you think this was bad, Georgia was even worse.

Ga. holds the distinction of being the only state that was so racist that we had to kick the ENTIRE STATE out of America.

Seriously, that happened. And it was partly because of the Camilla Massacre. 

First, you gotta remember that blacks damn near outnumbered whites in Georgia. So, after they got the right to vote, 33 black ppl were elected to the state legislature.

Wypipo wasn't having that shit.

So the white legislators called their homeboys up (Y'all call them the KKK) 

The KKK ran the DULY ELECTED "Original 33" out of office.

Then the Ga. Supreme Court ruled that black people were technically citizens, but the Ga. laws were only meant for white people, so... Black ppl, y'all need to go somewhere with that "equality" shit.*

*I'm paraphrasing

A week after they ousted the Original 33, one of the (did I mentioned DULY ELECTED) legislators organized 200-300 blacks & marched from Albany to Camilla to hold a rally in the town square

When they got to Mitchell County, whites waiting in storefronts and on roofs, opened fire 

The Camilla Massacre got Georgia kicked BACK OUT of the Union and the state had to be readmitted for a second time in 1870 after it seated SOME of the Original 33.

Why not all?

Well, 1/4 of the Original 33 were murdered or attacked. 

On October 25, 1870, 2,000 black people gathered at a rally in Eutaw, Ala. right before the Nov. election. The crowd wanted to prove they weren't of white racists.

Why would they be scared?

Well, in March, 30 masked white men had lynched James Martin, a black Republican. 

It happened again in July, but they didn't just kill Gillford Coleman, they cut his body up into pieces. The racists were afraid Eutaw Co. blacks would help elect a Republican Gov. liked they helped Grant win the county by 2000 votes the 1868 election, 

Klansman rode into town and opened fire on adults and children and promised to do it again if Black people voted.

The tactic worked.

Instead of Republicans winning, the county by 2000 votes, the Democrat Governor won by 43 votes. 

That was lame compared to the Battle of Liberty Place.

Remember when this whole "Confederate Statue" thing first started a couple of years ago? It was partly about a monument to the Battle of Liberty Place, when a whole white supremacist army overthrew the Louisiana gvt. 



In 18 months a white supremacist ARMY called the "white league" (racists are notoriously bad for coming up with nicknames) killed hundreds of Black voters in Colfax, New Orleans, Coushatta & Opelousas

This is what led to the passage of the 2nd Ku Klux Klan Act 

(Side note: The Colfax Massacre also resulted in a Supreme Court Case, which was the first time the Supreme Court said the Second Amendment guaranteed individual citizens the right to own guns)

A lot of Black folks weren't having this shit. So they formed their own armies. 

In SC, the KKK and other Dollar Tree brand racist groups were killing Blacks in the lead up to the 1876 election. In Ellenton, over 100 black voters were murdered.

But it wasn't just about politics. White people HATED when blacks told them what to do. 

You gotta remember, most southern whites were Confederates, so during Reconstruction military occupation, a lot of the soldiers were black.

On July 4, 1876, in Hamburg, the town next to Ellenton, SC, a group of black national guardsmen were drilling while black people watched 

A group of these Dollar Tree white soldiers called the "Red Shirts" came through trying to flex and the Black Guardsmen told them to wait to pass until they finished.

Yall know those former whip crackers weren't having that. 

A white judge told the Red Shirts that they could take the black NATIONAL GUARDSMEN's guns, they found the black militia and began opening fire.

94 white men were indicted.

0 were convicted

The leader of the Hamburg Massacre?

He went on to serve 24 years in the US Senate 

Again, it wasn't just about stopping black people from voting.

In 1887, 10,000 black workers went on strike and started forming a union on La sugar plantations.

So the plantation owners hired the KKK to come in and kill the organizers. Then, it became any black person. 

No one knows how many were killed but the official number is "enough"

Louisiana sugar plantations wouldn't organize again for another 50 years. 

On July 3, 1919, a group of black Buffalo Soldiers went to Bisbee, Ari. Now, this may have been before cookouts were invented, because the soldiers had planned to march in the parade the next day. 

Bisbee's white sheriff told the black soldiers that they couldn't walk around with their guns. When the police officers tried to disarm the Buffalo Soldiers, the refused. So they deputized all the white men in town to disarm the negroes 

The soldiers were like: "Fuck y'all lil' parade, then," and were preparing to leave when one of the deputies was like: "You can't talk to a white man like that."

He opened fire.

The other deputies did, too. 

An investigation would later reveal that it was planned.

The Sherriff and others "had planned deliberately to aggravate the negro troopers so that they would furnish an excuse for police and deputy sheriffs to shoot them down."

No word on the cookout. 

Later that same year, black cotton sharecroppers met at a church in Elaine, Ark. They were trying to organize to get better prices but white farmers showed up. After an exchange of gunfire, a white man ended up dead.

The rumor spread that there was a black coup in Elaine 

Whites from all across the South came to Elaine to literally hunt Black ppl. No one still knows how many were killed. Estimates range up to 250. You know how they finally ended it?

Federal troops arrived...

And arrested all the black people who were left alive. 

In 1945, 19 black Air Force fighter pilots were arrested for trying to integrate an all-white officers club at an Indiana Airbase. 17 more showed up. They were arrested. 25 more showed up the next night, and were arrested.

Segregation was technically against military rule 

So the Air Force gathered all 101 black airmen in a room & offered a deal: All they had to do is sign a paper saying they agree to the segregation or,

Face arrest for violating a direct order, which was technically punishable by death.

All 101 refused.

They were all arrested 

Historically, the white "patriots" who love the flag and the troops treated black soldiers like they all took a knee before an NFL game.

In August 1947, Chicago residents grew angry when they realized the gov't was giving homes to Black veterans in the white Fernwood Park area 

The day after the families moved in, on August13, the whites attacked

For 3 days, as many as 5,000 white rioters pulled Black people out of cars and beat them. They threw rocks at the homes and smashed windows. Then they started setting fires.

The police did nothing. 

In 1949, black Chicago union stewards assembled went to a meeting. There were white people at the meeting, too. The meeting was even in the home of a white couple, but a rumor had already been circulating that black people were planning to buy a house in the white neighborhood. 

By the end of the meeting, hundreds of whites were outside.

This one lasted 5 days.

An estimated 10,000 white rioters took part in the Englewood riot.

Police did nothing to stop it. 

Remember when MLK wrote about "white moderates" in the Letter from a Birmingham Jail?" Well, those protests were partially successful.

On May 11, 1963 black protesters were celebrating. The city had decided to desegregate water fountains, lunch counters, retail stores... 

On May 11, 1963, the KKK was also planning a march in Bham because...you know.

Just before 11 am, a uniformed Bham police officer got out of his car and put a package on the porch of a small house.

It was dynamite.

It exploded. 

A few minutes later, another bigger bomb at the AG Gaston motel.

Everyone knows about the 16th St. church bombing in Birmingham, but few people know that there were more than FIFTY bombings in "Bombingham" during the Civil rights era 

One section of town was bombed so often it's still called "Dynamite Hill."

Of course, the KKK marched anyway.

Oh, and that bombed house belonged to A.D. King, Martin Luther King's brother.

King had left town a few hours earlier...

(Fun fact: Angela Davis and Condoleeza Rice grew up around the corner from each other in Dynamite Hill)

On February 5, 1968, black students from SC State tried to integrate a bowling alley. They were kicked out, but this time, the police were waiting to beat protesters. 

But students kept showing up. So the governor called the state troopers and the National Guard.

On Feb. 8, while attempting to put out a bonfire, the Troopers opened fire on 200 protesters, shooting dozens of black students and protesters. 

1 high school student was killed and 2 SCSU students. Police said they thought the students were shooting,

They weren't

One person was arrested, convicted and served time, Cleveland Sellers...

In March, 1970, in Lamar SC, a mob of angry white people attacked black protesters. Well... these protesters were kinda young and they were protesting in a weird way:
