Danganronpa Manga Rant- Leon and Sayaka:
@yukiteruakari told me about a Danganronpa Manga edition, and OH MY GOD!!! Thankyou so much for this bro omg.
I'm only up to "Junkos" impaling, but it's so much better than the one I have.
I'll put some screenshots below, and the link too because so far it's translated to English.
Why the Manga is better, what it could do for the fandom:
It gives Sayaka and Leon so much more development as characters and seeing as Mondos case is next we might get to see what they talked about in the sauna. (<- there are so many fan theories for that one, and I'm excited to finally get more lore.)
It's hard to be a Danganronpa fan in 2024 because it all happened 14, 12, and 7 years ago. So like... Spike aren't going to just start explaining more lore on twitter randomly because they feel like it, Danganronpa is done, but this manga helps us understand the killers motive.
If ALL of the fandom read it I'd probably assume the "Mondo Brother Killer >:(" cliche that some of the fandom define him as would be gone, because it has his POV instead of a Monokuma flashback and a shitty animated clip of him doing it "for no reason" other than being "strong-strong-strong-strong-strong" (from the canon game and animation 2014.)
LeoXSaya Rant, Manga>>>Animation:
And yes, Sayaka was revealed to be a bit more of a "snake" (she isn't btw) but her motives were humane and we only thought she wasn't because Makoto is the protagonist and wouldn't think bad about any of his friends.
It also gives Leon haters a reason to stfu and enjoy his character design and small role while it lasts, and it's better than playing his FTEs because he's just gloating about picking up chicks and being better than everybody at Baseball despite hating in from what I've seen.
Also, the art is just BETTER.
The dialogue is just BETTER!
They gave Sayaka a reason to invite Leon over. Because in the anime and game yes it's "wow Sayaka is so hot" on Leons part, but wouldn't that mean Leon would've been the person to invite her to HIS room instead?
But in the Manga they explain her thought process, anybody who hasn't read it will probably just go "Sayaka's dumb for inviting a STAR ATHLETE to try and kill!" but she's smart because if she had killed him she already had an alibi. "We were friends! We bonded over music and drank tea together!" or something... saying that, Sayaka couldn't WIN because Makoto knew about the room swapping ofc. And she'd leave evidence and whatnot.
*Sighs* The Animation Butchered Our Boys...:
(BOYS BECAUSE THE ANIMATION BUTCHERED SO MANY CHARACTERS AND GAVE THEM PISSY MOTIVES AND SHIT-)
I hate the anime alot, but the thing that PISSED ME OFF THE MOST (about 1-1 of the animation) WAS LEON'S REACTION. He was having a mental breakdown, which was fine and accurate... probably good as well instead of him screaming "stupid" then losing it halfway through the word and realising his fate quietly.
They give him a moment of remorse.
"I didn't want to... I mean she... she was tring to... kill me... right? I just... didn't know what else to do... okay...?" (quote end)
but then he gets mad.
I don't know about you, but on first watch this ruined it for me. "He's just screaming now..." like... it makes me mad for almost no reason.
He was about to have a very humane moment of "I didn't have a choice..." he's looking down at the pedestal thingy in the court, he's defeated, he's sad, he's been caught. He's in despair.
Then he yells at the others "you would've done the same thing in my shoes!"
And you know what the writers did instead of making him cry after that? Anything... would've been better, but this is the dam animation we're talking about...
"I DIDN'T HAVE A CHOICE OKAY! THE CRAZY SKANK WAS GOING TO KILL ME, WHAT WAS I SUPPOSED TO DO?!"
He did have a choice...
The manga gave him a choice, he tried to save Sayaka. Then he ended up killing her, ON ACCIDENT. That line alone contradicts the fact of any of that happening, he and Sayaka had just bonded hours earlier.
Like, this is my opinion and I've never heard anybody talk about this before, BUT THE WRITERS NEEDED TO WRITE LEON BETTER!!! The game wrote Leon fine, but the animation was a second chance at giving him development!
I liked him trying to escape the court room though. That was a nice touch that I don't think was in the game.
BUT BROOOOO HE CALLED SAYAKA A SKANK HOURS AFTER ADMITTING HE WAS CRUSHING ON HER, DANGANRONPA ANIMATION WHERE'S THE LOGIC!
Like, the scene made me so mad on re-watch and I can't pinpoint why!
Like instead of this: https://youtu.be/CbQ6McYz7U0?t=59
(Good animation though imo, the closeup expressed his emotions nicely-)
HAVE THIS THOUGH, THIS IS SO MUCH BETTER!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
IT JUST HITS WAY BETTER-
Anyway, that's my rant of the day because why not.
The game itself had issues, but compared to the animation it was just so much better, and makes me want to give it a 7/10 instead of a 6...

Danganronpa Blackened plans from best to worst:
(disclaimer: I'm including attempted murders on here, and counting certain double murders separately because it makes sense) I'd love to talk about how you would rank these, so please give your thoughts!
Sakura- since this one is a suicide, I'm not sure it counts. But if Monokuma has to actively interfere to get a case to go to trial, then you did a good job. I can't think of a mistake she made at the top of my head. She wanted to make things as easy as possible for everyone, and she succeeded.
Nagito chapter 5- He didn't plan for the traitor to give herself up, which is a reasonable mistake to make considering the only thing he knew about the traitor was that she WASN'T an ult. despair.
Tsumugi- when you have someone actively confessing to a murder that you committed, you are pretty much scot free. That being said, taking Kaede to the location of your secret passage, even if there weren't any consequences, was needlessly risky. I'd say this is one of those cases where it'd be better to have no alibi at all, since Kiibo and Ryoma didn't have one either.
Gundam- when halfway through the trial you still don't know how the victim died, the murderer did a pretty decent job. His main mistake was that he heard the commotion when he shouldn't have, and that was a calculated risk. He could have easily pushed the "Nagito = lying" agenda more then he did to combat that. He totally gave himself up.
Kiyo's murder of Angie: The locked room murder was a good trick that brought suspicion on the student council. I think that if he stopped here, he likely would have gotten away with it. Even with the duct tape, that doesn't bring suspicion on Kiyo specifically. Since it was nighttime, nobody had an alibi. There is no evidence that incriminates him at all.
Kaito and Kokichi- for attempting to create an unsolvable murder, showing that tape of Kaito being crushed sure did create a lot of problems. I don't think Shuichi would have solved it had that evidence not been handed over by the blackened in the beginning of the trial.
Junko- She made no mistakes during her murder itself. If she took herself to trial in chapter one, there's a 0% chance of her getting caught. Having the victim be impersonating herself means everyone would come to the conclusion it's a suicide. She gets points for trying to destroy the body too, thats not a strategy we see killers use often. She makes a few small mistakes in the body disposal, namely not covering her hand when she attacks Makoto and removing Mukuro's fake nails before placing the bomb. However, her biggest glaring mistake was revealing the true number of students in the first place.
Teruteru- For a rushed plan, this was pretty well thought out. His mistake was trying to attack when the rest of the group were together while he could have attacked someone before the party. That being said, attacking from the floorboards during a blackout he knew would happen is a good plan. I also think he should have destroyed or hid the list of kitchen items, so nobody would notice an iron skewer was missing. He could have easily flushed it down the toilet.
Mondo- in terms of plan he had no plan. However, he didn't make any glaring mistakes at the crime scene. There's not much he could have done about the protein coffee stain and the blood spatter. If you add on Togami's interference, there is no way he would have been caught if he had just kept his mouth shut. For the broken monopad, Taka is equally suspicious. Kyoko was the only one that suspected him, and in chapter two she may not have enough influence over the group to single handedly get him eliminated. The fact that a guy who killed in the heat of the moment places decently shows how little brain cells some of them have.
Gonta and Kokichi- this one is very hard to rank because 90% of the reason Gonta was suspected is Kokichi's testimony, and can you really call the memory error a mistake since it was before Gonta was plotting murder? Either way, I'm putting it here. Gonta made a mistake by being seen in the same area as the toilet paper when he could have easily hidden it on him like Miu did with the phone. However, Kokichi made the majority of mistakes in this case by turning on Gonta for denying he even entered the virtual world. (my dude, its Gonta. This is probably the level of lies you would have gotten had there not been a memory error.)
Kirumi- She made one very big mistake: moving the body. If she had just left Ryoma in his lab, this crime would be near impossible to trace back to her. Depending on if she removed the handcuffs and the severity of his head wound, this could be argued to be a suicide. She couldn't have known that Kokichi or Gonta wouldn't have gone into Ryoma's lab looking for him, but even so that could have been traced back to a lot of different people.
Peko- I think her biggest mistake was agreeing to meet up with the rest of the girls if she suspected Fuyuhiko was going to try something. With a cast this large, not having an alibi is more suspicious than something being weird about your alibi. Her mistake with the gummies is understandable, since we don't know how recently she last say Hiyoko eating them. However, why did she get sparkling justice involved? Fuyuhiko was more suspicious than her throughout most of the case, so people would have likely voted for him. If she wanted him to survive the trial, she should have confessed! Her motives in this case confuse me tbh.
Kaede- her murder is overcomplicated, but in a way that makes sense because she didn't know who she was killing. It also would have been quite difficult to test beforehand due to all of the moving parts and the mastermind possibly being in the library at any time. From a tactical level, her mistake was not taking the first blood perk, but thats due to moral reasons. Since this murder failed, I don't think I can rank it any higher.
Mikan- She shouldn't have tried to record that video for Hajime. She also shouldn't have strangled Ibuki when she just could have hanged her. Why obscure the cause of death? That being said, I think killing Hiyoko was the right choice and was done decently. Still the smartest chapter three killer by a longshot.
Chapter 1 Nagito- Bad plan, which makes sense since he was likely trying to get caught. The bad part of causing a blackout is that whoever was closest to the body would be suspected, since it takes the smallest leap in logic for him to be accused. In the trial, he also caved way too quickly.
Sayaka- Makoto would realistically suspect her, but she was counting on being more charismatic than him for it not to matter. That being said, she made quite a lot of mistakes. She took the murder weapon even though she knew Hina and Sakura were watching and it could be traced back to her. In the au where Makoto gets blamed for killing Leon, that would have been incredibly fishy. She also didn't remove potential weapons from the area before attacking Leon, which is a huge oversight considering he's physically stronger than her. The note she sent was also traced back to her. If she actually made it to the class trial, she would have been caught quite easily.
Miu: The moment Shuichi notices the poison doesn't match the symptoms of the death, she's suspect number one. Her strange behavior before that would have definitely been a clue.
Celeste- Where do I even start. Using Hifumi at all made things needlessly complicated, and he made the majority of mistakes in the murder case. If Hifumi can kill Taka and she can kill Hifumi, than she could have killed Taka easily, especially considering his mental state at the time. I'd go farther and saying having Hifumi alive in the class trial would be an asset, since he'd believe everything she says.
Leon- He removed all of the hair from the crime scene, but didn't bother to... I don't know, go back and look at the body once during that? Did he not bother to clean the bathroom. He also took risks with disposing of the evidence when he could have just as easily hidden it in his room, where nobody would think to look for it.
Kiyo's murder of Tenko- Not only did he make a fuckton of mistakes, this murder was completely pointless. The whole murder was a mistake. I understand he wanted to bolster his kill count, but doing nothing was the best option. If he wanted to axe off someone useful to the group, like Shuichi or Kaito, then this murder might make sense from a strategic perspective. He made horrible choices for seance members, arguably choosing the two smartest in the group to help him. I also think he could have likely found his way to the center of the room based off muscle memory, and those lines he added were unnecessary.

Whether I Trust My F/Os With A Trust Fall
My partner wanted me to do this as a whole list so I'm doing it here!!!!

Alex: I wouldn't trust him in-canon but I think he would catch me if I did
The Joker: Would catch me in a trust fall but might pick me up and throw me off a roof later to even the score
Val: Yes, she would catch me
Grell: Yes, she would catch me
Cecil: Yes, he would catch me
Tumblr: Yes, she would catch me
Monokuma: Absolutely not
Death: Yes, but she also might vanish halfway through because of psychopomp duties
Gertrude: Yes, but she would complain about it
Dirk: Would not catch me, but would make sure there was a pillow to fall on while he judges me for trusting him
Jonah: Would catch me the first three times and then let me fall the fourth time
And secret f/os:
#my science gal would catch me
#secrets of the stars would probably get distracted but he means to catch me
#digital poison would catch me unless someone was looking at us, in which case he would let me fall

more Udg characters. Some are redesigns of original characters I had no story for, another was stolen from the same fangan i was gonna do with Usagi (our antagonist) and another was a past Dr oc I made long ago... though one of these was made specifically for Udg: Aftermath.
Can you tell whose on what side? (and what their talents would be?)
keep in mind that while I personally think Drv3 should be connected to the hopes peak stuff, I will also add on what they are in team danganronpa. Most of the Dr team would not have ultimate titles. (for reference our Antagonist Usagi Kumao is either the head of Team Danganronpa or Class 76, Ultimate Game Show Host. She's a Game show host in both versions though)
The first five are a set. They each represent a different part of a deck of cards and have a tattoo on their body for it. They are a team with deep bonds. These are left to right, up to down order, not story relevance.
Aiko Koigokubo: Team Danganronpas Ship coordinator/Class 76 Ultimate Cupid or Match Maker. She represents the Heart (tattoo under her eye) suit and her color is red. She is the 3rd chapter boss. In-game you defeat her by splitting Monokuma pairs up. Story-wise Maki beats her by sharing how much love can hurt, how fast and hard you can fall only to lose that person. This breaks Aiko and she begins to wonder if Match Making/Shipping is dooming people for heartbreak. Its up to Himiko (and Komaru) to bring Aiko back to her senses. Once Aiko is 'defeated' she offers a hint to Shuichis location. She also claims that 'technically one Match survived the Killing Game...' (Alluding to the fact Kaede actually survived and I'm saimatsu trash)
Hana Hagihara: Team Danganronpa's Set Coordinator/Class 76 Botanist. She represents the club/clover suit (shoulder) and her color is green. She's probably the first chapter boss. In game you trick Monokumas into burning her plants in the greenhouse. Storywise Maki and Co question if plant life is worth more than a humans. Hana obviously say its not... But she just didn't want to be left behind by her friends... She won't fight more, but she can't betray her friends... Though she reveals that the one making the Monokumas isnt Usagi or Ursagi.
Niko Wakana: Team Daganronpa Sound Mixer/ class 76 Ultimate Violinist. The Spade suit in blue (arm). Probably the fourth boss. You'd team up with the Keyboardist (Kaede) to beat his Monokuma symphony, probably a rhythm game. He stops basically on his own in story, he compliments the player, and throws shade at the fact the Keyboardist seems a tad uncomfortable with her instrument. "it's almost as if you are used to more keys... Maybe something bigger?" He then asks to rejoin his friends, saying Shuichi will be excited to see the girls once they save him ("especially you three." "why would he be excited to meet her?" "You'll figure it out.") he reveals he has no clue where Shuichi is being kept, but if you can figure out a riddle or two, Emine might.
Takara Mizutama: Team DRs Budget Manager/ Class 76 Ultimate Jeweler. The Yellow Diamond (finger/hand). Probably the second boss. The gameplay is a giant stealth mission to steal intel from his area. In story Maki scares him in his office and he is quick to give up "don't kill me :(" he doesn't out his close friends but does out most things he knows. "Usagi wants to get rid of all of you. I'm afraid of heights. One of the Executions might have been faked-" at the end of the battle Hana is quick to collect him.
And finally from the card group, Emine Kaetsu-Ouma: Team Drs main writter/class 76 Ultimate Clown. The Purple Joker, is represented by a star (chest). She's the fifth boss becoming a 'halfway point' or tonal shift in the story (You go from having this very DR 5-6 chapter story structure to a longer one where a boss is shared by a chapter or two). You fight Emine by balancing monokuma's and knocking hers down. She seems happy to have been defeated. Originally she just introduced herself as 'Emine Kaetsu'... However, after the battle, she asks you to call her 'Emine Kaetsu-Ouma'. That's right, it's Kokichi's previously unmentioned older sister. She offers you a deal. track down the DICE members, and she'll tell you where Shuichi is hidden. THroughout the game you'll also have been receiving Riddles made by her. Some of these have her key phrase 'Just Kidding!' or 'THat was a Joke'. She has serious moments like if you ask her why she's working for someone who basically killed her brother but she won't answer you, often deflecting by asking if you want to hear a joke or solve a riddle.
After you 'redeem' the group you can actually chat with them at 'base camp'. They will either tell you about working on team DR, or tell you about their time at Hope's Peak, and things they remember about the 77'th and 78'th classes (Keep in mind I have Shuichi and Kaede's group be 77-a)
Next we actually have your first Ally in the group: Mitsumi Gokuhara: Gonta's younger sister and who was suppoused to be the Future Ultimate Bee Keeper (either scouted by Hopes Peak or team DR). You meet her about midgame when you save her from some monokuma's. While her specialty is bee's (and her honey is basically a health recovery item), she will send you on fetch Quests for all sorts of bugs (this is an easy way to get Monocoins in-game). "I want to show my big brother Gonta when he comes home! He's the one who showed me how cute bugs are!"... Even Maki doesn't have the heart to tell her Gonta's gone. Though she does find out late game and refuses to talk to Maki and Himiko for a bit because they kept it from her.
Ayako Nomi: Maker of the Monokuma's in this game, and Class 76's Ultimate Toymaker. During Shuichi's cutscenes (where we check in on him) you meet her as she's working on a new form of Monokuma. THough she stops her work to talk to Shuichi and stop his latest round of Game Show and Torture. She's a bit weird referencing how Shuichi would make a pretty doll, or if she's watching the broadcast of Maki and co, referencing how parts of the girls would make pretty dolls. Though it sounds like she wants to turn them into living dolls... She just means she wants to use them as models to make dolls (which she has a special interest in). Maki convinces Ayako into stopping the Monokuma making by promising to be a model for her dolls... Weird Cutsie clothes included (Shuichi and Himiko won't let her live this down).
ANd FInally CHizuru CHiba "Chi-Chi": Team Danganronpa's Character Writer/class 76 Ultimate Hobbiest (Look it me, or my closest in universe approximation). Chi-chi starts out seeming like a helpful random citizen. Directing Maki and Co in the right direction, telling them how to defeat Monokuma's, ext. But After Emine and gang leave the evil side most of Chi-chi's 'hints' end up in Monokuma ambushes. Maki (and Toko) are suspicious of them after about three of these. However, around the time you meet with Usagi for the final Battle you learn... That Usagi had a childhood friend who is incredibly loyal. Basically, it's heavily hinted that Chi-Chi and Usagi are childhood friends and A) Won their season of DR as co-masterminds or B) Chi-chi has been feedings your progress to Usagi this whole time since their besties. In fact, Ursagi (Usagi's robot bear/bunny Monokuma thing) has actually been largely operated by Chi-chi this whole time. However, once you defeat them Chi-Chi says they'll admit everything and take full admission of Guilt so long as they don't get separated from Usagi. Throughout the game Chi-Chi also just 'happened' to know where alot of the family of V3's casts were hidden. So that adds to the suss levels.

This is gonna spoil... All of Hajime's backstory. Canon or not, it's the backstory I will usually use for him. It also spoils dr2/3 so.
Au where Hajime gets framed for one of the first 2 murders and it works, but instead of letting the murderer go (I'm pretty sure he can't), Monkuma executes Hajime while he's so confused because he knows he didn't do it. It goes like this cuz I'm not sure how to summarize my thoughts and I think in fanfiction.
"That's right! The blackened for the murder of ___ is Hajime Hinata, the Ultimate Nothing-!"
"What? No, I didn't kill them!"
"-That's right! He doesn't even have a talent! However, I still have a very special punishment for him-"
"I didn't kill them, this is wrong, believe me!"
"Iiitts, PUNISHMENT TIME!"
And Hajime is dragged off, into a large pure white rectangular room with a single door at the opposite end. Giant mechanical versions of Hajime's parents start walking around, ignoring him as he has to dodge to get to the door. Halfway through, the mom's stop appearing, leaving only dad's that are much more violent and throwing things. He's pretty bruised as he opens the door.
In the door, there's more mechas, but human sized this time. A boy and girl who both look suspiciously like Fuyuhiko, and some random girl with wavy dark hair. He's forced to watch as they make a play where wavy hair kills female Fuyuhiko, and then gets killed by Fuyuhiko-look-alike. He's freed and starts slowly walking forward untill his greeted at the door with two flowers in vases, the type you put on a classmate's desk when they die.
He walks inside, eyes confusingly remorseful, like he could've done something. Then they quickly shift to panic as he registers the next room. There's a hospital bed in the middle, surrounded by people who look like a mix of scientists and surgeons. They advance towards him as he starts trying to pry open the door, once it clear it's not opening, he pastes himself against it, seeing no other door in the room. The mechs close in and he fights, kicking and swinging his arms around, but they wrestle him onto the bed, as he struggles to get away, they inject something in his arms that instantly slows his movements until they are no more. Then it's over, and it pans back to Monokuma, who's laughing.
"W-What was that!"
"Hm? Oh, that was Hinata's past, including his lost memories! Poor boy got ignored by his parents as they tried to work to get enough money to survive, but them the mother died due to starvation and overwork. The father was distraught! Turning to alcohol as and abuse to get out his feelings, oh no!" On the monitor, it starts showing footage to back up his words, showing a child Hajime getting thrown into a corner.
"After years of knowing no one but his father, he manages to make a friend but their quickly ripped apart as he deals with the deaths of his classmates!" The monitor shows him trying to talk to the two girls after they fight, ending in both of them dying while he can't help. "Then he's stuck with no other options, and is forced into a project to become the Ultimate Hope, holding every talent in the database! They completely erased his personality, harsh!"
"They.. removed him?!"
"Yep!" As he says that, a piece of the wall twists on a vertical pole, letting an unconscious teen with long black hair fall through. Multiple people figure out who he is through context. As Monokuma laughs some more, they pick him up and carry him to rest in Hajime's old cabin.
And from there it's just Izuru being a part of it all, sort of an outcast as he remembers everything, but only tells them that they "dont wish to know" and also doesn't object to having around Nagito. Tada.

School Report #1
Tumblr media
Nobuyuki Atari speaking, and this will be the School Report File #1. This is the second day of our school life inside of the S.S. Sharomuzu Hell, as the bear who holds us hostages, Monokuma, named it. It's a spacious cruise ship, but for now, we only have access to a part of the ship; the rest is locked away with a big metal wall. Only Monokuma can open it, since he has the controls.
Tumblr media
The areas to which we have access are the dormitories, that are separated between girls and boys — each door has a picture of its owner, occupying four corridors, each separate part being connected to a simple tea room.
The boys's dormitories go to its own tea room, filled with... Boyish things. Filthy magazines and things that I will not bother to describe. The bedrooms surrounding this tea room belong to, from left to right: Daiki Komuro, Katashi Fujimoto, Shinichi Inoue, Hachirou Budou, Susumu Yukimura, my own room, Tomomi Haneda and Izamu Adachihara.
Tumblr media
I'm not allowed to see the girl's dormitories, so I don't know how their side of the coin is, but Moriko-san was kind enough to tell me how the distribution of rooms are. They are, from right to left, since it is on the opposite side of the cruise ship, surrounding their tea room: Akiko Hanamachi, Hiroko Maeda, Airi Chisaka, Yuuna Takenaka, Takako Nakako, Rei Oshiro, Michiko Gushiken and Moriko Mizushima.
Tumblr media
The dining hall, the kitchen, and the boat deck are available for us. In the boat deck there is a smocking room and a casino, with stairs for the first deck, in which the dormitories are, but any level beyond that is still locked. I didn't enter the boat deck myself, because of my fear of the sea, but the rest was checked personally. The boat deck was blocked halfway by another mechanic wall.
There is a reading and writing room on what I will call the deck A, near the dormitories, alongside another casino — there's also a courting room, several bathrooms, what appears to be servant rooms (all locked), but by the signs on them, we could deduce they weren't for guests; and, to end it, a big lounge.
Tumblr media
This is it for the School Report File #1. Nobuyuki Atari turning off.

WOW I *really* like your take on UDG with Taka instead of Toko. I like the game as is, and I'm happy with the actual arc it gave Toko, but itwould've been infinitly better as you wrote it. Also, once Taka finds out Haiji is a pedophile, he would continuously ruthlessly confront him about it instead of.. never mentioning it again. As the Ultimate Moral Compass (and, like, a good person lol) he would never abide that or knowingly work with a pedophile
(This is referencing THIS post)
Thank you! I must admit I tend to forget about Haiji’s pedophila because it’s just the one line in the game that is, as you say, completely ignored by the other characters. (Although I just found out that apparently the art book says he’d be attracted to Kotoko if she had a better personality, which is just disgusting for them to say given her background! TBH it’s one of those things, like Korekiyo’s incest, that makes me hate Kodaka for deciding to include it more than it makes me hate the character. Generally in those cases I tend to ignore that aspect of the character as having been badly written for shock value.)
But it would make for an interesting bit of late-game conflict if Taka turned around halfway through the trip to get the Big Bang Monokuma (which, IIRC, is when Haiji makes his ‘as young as they can get’ comment), and refused to go any further until the others talked into continuing the mission, if only for the sake of all the people who were still trapped in the city.
And while I’m on the subject, another thing I thought of that always seems like a bit of a shame to me in UDG is that, due to her not really caring about a person, Toko feels very removed from the whole ‘Captives hunt’ aspect of the plot. It would have been nice to see her actually getting worried as they picked up more and more hit list targets and she noticed the connection and started to worry about her own captive, but because hers is a bug and she seems to have grown beyond caring for it too much (at least, she doesn’t seemed that bothered about it when you show Kameko’s hit list entry to Hiroko) there’s not really any tension there.
Whereas Taka at least would have his father to worry/think about as he found them, which would make the hit lists be more than just an interesting diversion that gave us just a little more info about the DR1 characters. (Although I do realise this would mean that either finding the hit lists would have to be mandatory, or there’d be a lot more optional dialogue as you found more and more of them.)

Okay. Finished 1-4. The game told me I'm halfway through. I think the game is lying to me.
I also have thoughts about...one of the Monokuma Theater segments was about how humans would always have regrets (but Monokuma doesn't! Because he's a bear!) and Monokuma's comments on suicide (considering Junko's ending) and also how much faster this trial was and how much Monokuma interfered and it's clear that Junko is getting bored of the Killing Game as a whole.
And like. I'm getting Junko thoughts and just. I want to wait until the end of the game because like. I know my tendency to. what I do to characters when I start headcanoning and like. I feel a vibe here but I don't. HM.
Anyway.
Back to 1-2 so I can start maxing out FTEs.
Starting with Toko. Then Byakuya (maybe). Then when everyone's done, ending with Jack.
