here's what I know about Romulus Roman Roy: he has nothing, no direction at all without attending to his father's emotional tyranny. He has no friends, lovers, no work, or personality that didn't tie back into the effort to appease a father who didn't give a shit. with his dad dead, he's a tentacle rotting with no master. the best he can do is insist on his father's memory because that is the only thing standing between Roman and facing the abyss of years he's wasted trying to please a parent who thought there was something wrong with him, who only ever reached out to strike that wrongness from him. "I'm gone!!!" he shouts, "it's over for me" because it is and he is. always was because he was always consumed with the empty pursuit of avoiding his father's wrath and calling that a life, a personality, calling it love and now his father's gone and he has nothing left!!! all he can do is insist it was love and he'll literally fucking shout it from the mountain tops...as if that's enough to make it true.
