Love Sea ep 1 thoughts

a little ramble/unorganized post of thoughts on ep 1 of love sea. so i watched the first ep twice, since the first time i was partially live tweeting some of my reactions and missed a few things. i enjoyed it!! quite a bit too, mostly bc i love fortpeat and i'll gobble up absolutely anything they're in. as with mame stories, in order to enjoy them to the fullest, my brain is off, my fujin glasses are on.

first off: gorgeous shots, even more gorgeous setting. i Love bright colors, and this island is really giving just that. like... NATURE!! so much green from the trees and the underwater shots are so good as well. i'm gonna be a little sad when they return to the city. not sure what episode this will land on but my guess is around ep 4? if they keep the pacing as it is right now.

this was a solid first episode. we get introduced to the main cast, their jobs, and a bit of their personality. and the end of the episode gives a glimpse of tongrak's trauma and a preview of the looming problem that should come to light as the series progresses. i'm honestly Very curious how they're going to handle the main conflict, if they're going to take anything out or change it. i am open to what changes they May do since i've already seen a (in my opinion) good change they made for the last scene on the boat.

in the novel, tongrak actually slaps mut when he tries to wipe his tears. yes, full on bitch slap to the face. which, honestly, when i read that part, i looked up from my phone and was like "ok...but why....." so i'm glad they took it out. i'm not mad about having a slap scene in general, but it seemed like a weird reaction (to me), even with the knowledge of WHY rak behaves the way he does. no spoilers, but i had that ????? reaction more than once throughout the novel so hopefully they're able to better translate book scenes to screen. i'll keep my expectations measured regardless.

s4 oth is a MESS, it's so bad written I wanna cry, i'm not being dramatic

1. brucas (cause that's what i'm the most mad about) - they were literally so in love for two or more seasons. the whole second season lucas spent trying to fix his friendship with brooke, being jealous and then even agreed for her riddiculous conditions with the whole fwb thing just to be with her. brooke was still clearly hurt by lucas but gave him a chance. that girl wrote 82 letters to her boy. in s1 after lucas cheated on brooke, she was DEVASTATED. now after months of relationship and over a year of being in love she's completaly over it after like 3 episodes and goes with someone else (A TEACHER MAY I ADD, DISGUSTING, and then cries more about him than over lucas wtf), same with chase, like she falls so easily for him?? that was so no brooke davis, I swear. and lucas is sooo "oh i'm gonna fight for brooke, i love her", but he says to anyone but her that it was peyton who kissed him and he didn't kissed her back. no, to brooke he says "i'm sorry i kissed her" YOU DIDN'T. your mistake is not to tell brooke about it and keep seeing peyton that often. one episode lucas is hopeful he's gonna get her back and the other he's telling peyton he loves her. WHO WROTE THOSE SCENES, I JUST WANNA TALK (have a gun in my hand)

2. timeline - doesn't make any sense?? brooke's birthday are march 4th, she slept with chris when? in october, november? and yet in march lucas asks brooke if she's pregnant with chris. I THINK YOU WOULD ALREADY KNOW IF SHE WAS. hayley finds out about the baby february/march (pregnancy test and doctor) which means she's about two months pregnant and yet she goes into labour in what, june? according to brooke's words ("two weeks ago you spread the rumour that i'm pregnant" ep 7) in two weeks ravens played five games, how? (i'll be honest, i'm not american, i didn't have basketball team in high school, but that seems too many for me, just correct me if i'm wrong). nate says to lucas "about time" when he finds out about him and peyton while brucas were broke up for good for a month, or not even that long? and don't say well, he meant since the beggining obv he didn't, he was the one who knew lucas loves brooke in s2.

3. peyton becomes a certified idiot - ig I can ignore the fact she used that webcam in s1 or s2, teenagers' weird thing idk, but after that creep started writing to her, she was still doing that? and her father lets her (ik he didn't know about derek/ian but still). then dude attacks her and she decides not to inform her father, what's more lucas gets in touch with the real derek but not larry, to help peyton? "i'm not afraid, i can take care of myself blah blah blah" THEN WHY ARE YOU SLEEPING IN LUKE'S BED, KNOWING HE'S IN LOVE WITH BROOKE AND TRIES TO GET HER BACK AND THAT THIS SITUATION HURTS YOUR SUPPOSED TO BE BEST FRIEND. she keeps her house open all the time (the time when she goes home and there's ian who tells her he closed the house? riddiculous, why she left it open, why no one there closes their houses and cars? no thiefs in tree hill??) peyton is not my fav but they made her such a bad friend and an idiot this season, it's awful

4. ruined friendships - peyton screws up her relations - with brooke, lucas or even haley - and while i can forget the fact she isn't much in touch with haley or nathan, they had lot of troubles and obv she had too, but she was the one destroying her relation with brooke and lucas with her trying to sabotage brucas (no, she wasn't, she was helping lucas to get brooke back shut the fuck up, she was literally smiling every time luke said that brooke and him don't work, she doesn't want to talk with him or whatever, peyton knew how much time he spends with her - bc she needed protection but why call her own father right - instead him or her should be with brooke those times). lucas with his hero complex give 95% to peyton, blowing off his friends. like really it feels he spent more time with glenda for the sake of the plot than with haley. brooke suddenly spends more time with rachel than with anyone else (second part of s4), she was with haley all the time at the beggining and then what?

5. karen and dan is just a terrible mista- i'm sorry, gotta vomit, can't even think about them 🤮🤮

6. karen was a bad mother (yeah, she had terrible moments before, like slapping luke when he told her about brooke's pregnancy or blaming him for keith's death which made me hate her) but believing dan over lucas?? wtf is wrong with you

7. mouth is just annoying - falls in love with new girl every 5 episodes (erica, brooke, rachel, gigi, shelley), is whiny all the time and his only really good moments were about jimmy's plot

Borderlands Mad Max Crossover: listen the Mad Max game is sooo goooood and honestly it was no surprise that I started thinking about a crossover with my other favourite game, BL2 my beloved. Mordecai is a Roadkill leadslinger and Brick is a Top Dog cause that's the closest MM canon equivalent to their roles in BL2. They belong to opposite factions and then band together after Max kills everyone else in their camp. Temporary alliance turns into them forming their own faction called the Slabs. I don't have much of a plot for this one, I just think they're neat and I want them to make out about it.

Mango Angst Woops is a scene from my AU where Myles survived the massacre on Galidraan and is one of the Cuy'val Dar some 16 years later. He and Jango are both very in their feelings about that. This specific scene is one where Jango expresses his belief that they can never have a relationship, and Myles should avoid him as much as possible, because everyone Jango loves ends up dead and he's convinced it's his fault. They're both very in their feelings about it.

Winter Soldier Cougar is one of my Losers AUs that places the events of the comics after the events of the movie. "Max" is a code name for a head of Hydra, rather than one individual. Cougar doesn't die in the bomb explosion and instead gets brainwashed and used to torment his old crew. I want a reason to put Jensen and Steve Rogers in the same room, I think Jensen would drive Steve absolutely nuts. Bucky and Cougar get hella protective of each other though and that honestly causes its own problems bc they're both aggressive about it and Cougar still thinks it's perfectly okay to kill people about it. woke up at 3am and the first thing on my mind was marius josipovic. i fear there may never be a funnier character alive mostly bc of his perpetual irritation. the way it flares up so dramatically, you can just see it in his face. or his eye rolls??? JESUS that man can do an eye roll it's hilarious. the annoyed ass tone he gets, his lil accent slipping through. he really gets sooo upset that this fucking person ( carly ) whose family he's conning won't be his friend. what type of fucking conman tries to befriend someone who's going to be completely useless to their con. it's so funny because he really desperately tries to get on her good side, even apologizes and asks if they can start over, and presses the issue until she smiles?? his compassion for other people is actually insane considering he lies and cheats and steals, like at his core he shouldn't care, but he does, and that's what makes him stand out to me so much. i think he has the capability to emotionally remove himself from situations and other people, but when his empathetic nature hits, it's difficult to remain as unaffected as he tries to be. and something so fucking sad to me is that, for the first time in his life, marius feels welcome and at home when he goes to con the bernhardts. he feels like he has a family, because he's welcomed with open arms and there's not an inch of distrust there. which is so different from his own family - esp with his brother, who he genuinely can't trust bc eddie is actively trying to screw marius over to save himself! so to have these people who he actually somewhat trusts and who trust him in return? i think that's life changing.

and there's this scene with carly where marius mentions the bernhardts being a normal family and carly is like. normal family? and marius acknowledges that they may not be completely normal, and that's that. but to him, this is what a family should look like. a type of family he never got to experience, so of course this is normal for him. he even says this after learning about some of the fucked up things that have happened in the past and continue to go on between these people, knows about the strained dynamics, but it's still enough for him to feel safe. i think marius might be his most normal when he's with julia, shows her what he can do, but the thing is, he doesn't even think about it. he just does it, because he feels safe enough to. literally exposes himself as a fantastic liar, somewhat admits he's in deep with some bad people. and he did this all without a second thought, didn't even think, maybe i shouldn't show this person what i'm capable of when i'm about to con them. he even willingly comes back to save her life when he already told her it's best to run away from danger. she sees this as cowardice while marius just sees it as survival. which really shows the different experiences they've had in life. and yet, all the same, they bond and they work well together and they enjoy each others' company. like, genuinely. and that's something completely new for marius because he doesn't do bonding. the friends we see him have are old friends, people he's known for years. making friends ... it's not something he's interested in doing, but here, with the bernhardts, he just. subconsciously does that. sure, we can say he may need to bond with these people bc they literally think he's their cousin / family, and if he's going to be let into the family secrets, he has to be close to them. but there's no doubt in my mind that's not what's driving marius here. none of this behavior is calculated, he's not bonding or attempting to bond with them because it's the smartest thing to do. he's doing it because he fucking wants to. and that is just so interesting to me because marius knows better than to get attached, he's a seasoned fucking criminal, and yet...

and after he sees his own brother betray him?? marius doesn't even get mad, even when he would never do that to eddie, he doesn't get angry. i just don't think he's quick to anger, ever. irritation? yes. but not anger. and he can be a genuinely kind and understanding person, especially when it comes to people's emotions and motivations, like... he doesn't judge others for that. even if he doesn't feel the same way, even if it's something he would never do, he can empathize. at his core, marius is a sweet and warm person, but his entire life he's been molded into a criminal, a con artist. i'm sure he had to steal as a kid to help feed himself and his brother, because while we get very little information about he and eddie's childhood, it's clear to see that their mom wasn't a good one. and she was incredibly young. marius was always the caring older brother, always did everything he could to protect eddie, enough to where it's shaped him into who he is today. and he doesn't even resent that. he'd do it again in a heartbeat, and he does. his priority will always be the people he cares about, but when he cares about his brother and the bernhardts, who he has to steal from to protect his brother, what then? it's such an interesting dilemma and the writers just ... did a fantastic job of setting it up. this show, at least the first season, really is insanely well written and acted. giovanni ribisi is genuinely perfect as marius. and it's so funny because no one else i've showed this series to has liked it, but i just!! god i fucking adore it. i could write a fucking dissertation on it, about the fox metaphors, about marius and why he is the way he is, about VINCE?! fuckkk he's a great antagonist. there's just so many amazing characters in this show and i truly find myself liking every single one of them. that's rare. so, sneaky pete? you have a fan for life. will i ever finish s3? probably not but s1 goes so fucking hard and i'm never going to get over this story. also honorable mention, marius thinking anything spiritual is a scam is sooo interesting of him. he's such a skeptic. i love him. anyway. back to bed i go
