trying a very different approach to color ala tim mcburnie style and it's making me melt. figured i'd share it bc Idk it's more complicated but I like the way it's making me think/plan

thumbnail and rough sketch that i liked so much i turned it into....

and then made several color thumbnails/messed around w them for awhile

until finally settled on this one

and then

so the current foliage lines look like this and they're on 11 different layers (i'll merge some to be back, mid and forground in a bit)

(i also started on solas' head just ignore it for now)

and next step is really spend more time on the construction layer for lavellan and the wolf statue (solas is ready to be lined bc i drew him first)

then color with flats using quick masks instead of by hand like i'm used to c:

this is all wayyyy more layers than i'm used to but I do kind of like it so far; particularly the color thumbnail and construction layer/phase part

*sigh* Apparently there's yet another website scraping fics from AO3 for AI, and as if this were not enough, it is also a phishing scam, asking for personal information when authors request their work to be taken off the site. AO3 (once again) have said there's nothing they can do.

I have resisted locking my fics for as long as I could, but every week there seems to be something else trying to scrape fanfics and feed them to AI and it's just surreal at this point. I know it's not a perfect solution but I'll be locking my fics and making them visible only to registered users for the forseeable future. Just a heads up!

(Hello, mod Loupy Mongoose here! I decided that it could be fun to try a "Pokemon IRL" blog, centered around Jamie! ^w^ Special shoutout to Moddy--They run their own Pokemon IRL blog, @riggspath, and inspired me to attempt my own. Go check it out!)

Um. Hi. I'm Jamie Wild Rennard, a 27 year old woman. I have been told that trying a blog could help me get better socially. Not that I really care to be better socially. Pokemon have always been my friends, not people. But whatever, I'm curious. I'm not great with words and stuff, but my lovely husband Cody has agreed to help me with editing and learning the ropes, so I'm sure he'll make it pretty! (Cody here! When I get the chance, I'll get or make a header for her as well! ^-^)

Uh... What should I say? I'm not great with people. Maybe that will be different behind a screen, but It's hard to know right now.

Fact is that Ive had art done for weeks but I needed to plan... well... this post! XD needing to Words but having no spoons to make time. So im typing this between aisles at the grocery store lol.

Hi fam! Its sure been a while! Its been art & studies for me XD in that time, my relationship with art & Hellsing itself has changed, though far from lessened ;3 Art wants to jump in all directions but Ive been limiting myself for a while due to lack of spoons to devote to it, and my health has improved immensely in the last couple of years so those particular spoons have been abundant lately 👀 I had no "plans" to get better, it just happened during slow mental health cleanup, and now I want more out of my art. This means the Good Evening posts will be changing to make room for other bigger pieces 👏

General points being: you are capable of whatever you want to be, it just takes management/planning the small steps, & never stop trying. It can take a long time, but you can get to better places, and you dont have to believe in it 🌻

(for the new folks, oc sunday is a thing where people send in their pokemon ocs and I post them because having ocs is rad and everyone has their own spin on the pokemon world/plots/stories. but I haven't done it since last july)
