this gif that i posted is not of sakito drinking the drink genba gave him! it's actually sakito taking a sip of taiya's drink while genba is mixing his drink!

taiya's drink is a tomato and orange cocktail, which he places on the bar as he talks to sakito.

while genba is mixing sakito's "chaotic" drink, sakito takes a sip of taiya's drink and doesn't like it, as demonstrated in the gif.

genba then serves sakito his actual drink which is a fruit and lemonade cocktail, which contains syrups, soda, fruits, and pudding (quite chaotic).

he seems to like it as he sips it multiple times with no clear negative reactions to the taste.

sorry I'm having thoughts because I haven't slept and when I don't sleep I have thoughts....................

I was thinking about Canon Suave Ganondorf again, and... I think what bothers me, beyond everything discussed, is that... it's not characterization? Like for example take Girahim, which I would argue is also a Sexy Villain. Him being a Sexy Villain is 1) a key factor of his presentation and double-edged creepiness, 2) has kind of a lot to do with his literal objectification and 3) is completely played as such, and Girahim himself has a lot of fun with his own theatrics. I don't mind Sexy Villains, they are a lot of fun and they can even be quite meaningful!

So I am not against Sexy Ganondorf by default. I feel like, if played honestly and not ashamed of its own conceit, it could be genuinely interesting! But I find kind of offputting that his sexualization happens almost exclusively extradiegetically. It's the camera leering, it's the clothes that, while really pretty and cool and interesting, do not actually inform us much about the character wearing them on screen, the behind-the-scenes tidbits that are just... not represented within the world of the game... And so, to me, where Girahim lands somewhere on the Bayonetta scale, TotK Ganon is kind of landing... I don't know, somewhere near "skimpy outfit worn by a character that would never wear something like this if given the choice, and the world doesn't ever question why she would and what that says about her"? I don't know if that makes sense, but, yeah. If you want him to seduce everyone, then. Do that. Make him active. Make him own that weird trait you decided to give him all of a sudden.

But again, given the game is deeply uninterested in Ganon as a person, but very interested as Ganon as an antagonistic object, it does end up feeling weirdly objectifying in that regard too.

Ok hi!!!! I love all your takes on the characters and it's rlly interesting! I also think moash is a very nuanced and fascinating character. I'm kinda mad at him after he tried to convince Kal to k!ll himself but I think he's a great charcter with lots of depth and your pinned post was so interesting because it said so much about moash! Nathan: What are some of your favourite Captain moments over the series?

Ben: Well obvi- I think, yeah, definitely the Havers episode, because it was really nice to be... again, it felt indulgent at the time, but actually we were able to kind of put enough story around it to make it sit. But it was a kind of little glimpse, and, um, my friend Pete, who played Havers, did it so well -

Mat: Yeah.

Ben: - that it was so delightful to do those scenes because it felt that we were going into territory that you just look behind the curtain a little bit, and it's like "ohhh that's who he is!"

Nathan: Yeah.

Ben: And - but that's all you need, you just need to see who he is. So you kind of, every time you see him after that, you know that this is a man who has so much, ah, pain and suffering going on under the surface. And we all do.

Nathan: And we love him more for it!

Ben: We're all - every single character, everybody you meet in your life has stuff going on you don't know about.

Nathan: Absolutely.

Ben: And so it's kind of just humanising the character, to a point. But I love those scenes because they had to be quick, they had to be on the money, but it had to get across all of this emotion that wasn't allowed to come out. And, um, lovely to be able to play that, as part of that character, yeah.
