I find it funny and sad how Tumblr users are SO CONDITIONED to English language as default they will just NOT interact with posts in other languages whatsoever, no matter how cool the thing is - not even a like and reblog without adding comments or tags to it

Small rant ahead with something that happened this week AND I SHOULD POST IT IN MY OWN LANGUAGE TO PROVE A POINT but I won't and it'll still prove a point.

I have a Paw Patrol sideblog. It's a very active blog where I post, reblog, receive lots of asks constantly, I post my art there, etc. I got more active followers there than here on my personal blog and that's saying something (my personal has over 10x more followers than the Paw Patrol one AND STILL that one is more active lmao). People are always liking the posts/reblogs, always adding a comment, always reblogging with comments and/or nice/funny tags, sending asks. Literally it's very active.

Last week I reblogged there a post I found, it was a video of a mom and her daughter playing together with Paw Patrol toys and a handcrafted Lookout Tower made out of cardboard. THAT TOWER LOOKS SO COOL. It's amazing and the mom made it herself for her daughter and they were playing together so happily. Naturally this reblog should get a lot of likes and some reblogs, right?

It didn't get any. It's the only reblog so far there that didn't get a single bit of interaction.

Do you know why?

The mom and daughter are Brazilians. They speak Brazilian Portuguese. The text in the post is in Brazilian Portuguese. I added a long comment myself ALSO in Brazilian Portuguese (it is my first language as I'm Brazilian too) saying how cool it was, joking about the prices of official Lookout Tower toys (absurdly expensive around here) and that I've been planning myself to also build the Lookout Tower and the Paw Patroller with cardboard as well but I'm still in the first sketching stages, but seeing her project really inspired me to go ahead and continue working on my own.

I even followed her blog and she followed me back too. She posts a bunch of cool stuff and toys and games she creates with her kids, it's really AWESOME. I could spend HOURS looking at their posts.

But as she posted in Brazilian Portuguese and I commented also in Brazilian Portuguese and added tags ALSO in Brazilian Portuguese, it looks like NO ONE BATTED AN EYE AT IT.

What, are y'all afraid of using GOOGLE TRANSLATE???? How the fuck do you think I learned English ON MY OWN to interact with people on the internet in the first place when I was like 13, 14 years old??? I didn't even have English teachers at school and high school, I legit learned on my own because the world wasn't interested in trying to communicate with me, I was the one who had to adapt to communicate with it all.

Also I'd just like to say I love Tumblr community but y'all are SERIOUSLY LOSING INTERACTION POINTS to fucking DEVIANTART LMFAOOOOOO AT LEAST THERE PEOPLE KEEP MAKING AN EFFORT TO TRANSLATE MY OLD POSTS IN PORTUGUESE EVEN NOWADAYS XDDDD

You don't even need to learn another language like I did! YOU HAVE ONLINE TRANSLATORS. Back in my time, Google Translate was ABSURDLY AWFUL when translating anything to Brazilian Portuguese and vice-versa (it still is, but way less awful now over the years it took to better itself about it).

Hello, British Librarian here!! Firstly, love the blog!!! Secondly, I wanted to share some information about how to start working within library services over here ((I saw a post asking about it in general and hope it okay to share my experience!)). Community led libraries 90/10 are looking for volunteers and more volunteers means they can remain open for more hours/days! This builds up footfall and lets our councils know that the library is doing well. Volunteering can also be used on a CV to go into further fields! As for paid library jobs, many do still require degrees but there's also many that don't! A lot of my coworkers moved from entirely different fields to libraries (medical for example). I'd recommend checking on the job listings on local council websites as library jobs often get advertised there. Hope this helps!! 🌟

If you have any small (tiny) tips or ideas on things I can do on a more personal level I would appreciate them. Everything seems so overwhelming and completely out of my wheelhouse and skill base

Hey ya 🌱 Sprout!! It can be hard to recognize, particularly in solarpunk, but your already punk and already doing praxis. I'm sure of it.

If you've ever pirated media, DIYed or mended clothes, have a rain barrel, spoke out against poor labor conditions, provided a safe space for anyone in an uncaring world even for a brief interaction- Your already punk!! Anyone who fights and gatekeeps that title from you bc of age, aesthics, or experience is a poser and a FED!!

That being said tho--

If you want to do more outrageous projects there's a few things I can recommend depending on how much you wanna do!!

Battlejacket- TBH the purpose of a battle jacket is to soothe this exact anxiety while also being a fun project and being a single to others!! There's many examples in both my Battlejacket tag and patch idea tag to get you started. You can get iron on patches/print paper that transfers pretty well if your not used to DIYing stuff. If this feels like to big if a step and is too much tho keep in mind you can make a battlejacket and not wear it outside right away. It's a second skin to make you feel and others feel safe, but it's also a big neon target on yourself depending on your environment and where you are. So it's ok to just make one and not wear it out until your ready!! (If you do this-- my only demand is you show me when you do it!! I want to see all of those kinda projects bc I'm obsessed with them)

Getting out there- If starting a guerilla gardening project or joining a community garden, or community association isn't an option for you- be that bc of accessibility/time/energy- I'd recommend starting to archive and getting out there! Inaturalist or falling fruit are awesome programs where you identify plants/animals/stuff outside in general. It gets you outside, your adding to a community which gets the feeling of a ball rolling building confidence and your praxis muscles!!

Root yourself in your community- This is a hard one if your busy/have low spoons/are introverted but I promise its worth doing even if you arent super active in those spaces! Even just researching the history of your town/city/neighborhood and seeing what programs are running can really connect you to the area. A lot of us due to the renting crisis never truly attach to our neighborhoods or are too busy to look into local artists. (Not your fault babes, its built to do that to feed monopolies) Pick even just 1 thing you care about (local artists, teashop, bands, libraries, community fridges, etc..) and find the closest thing to you and get obsessed. Being a regular in any space is an awesome feeling, its where you'll find friends, and you'll directly see any change you provide there.

Media archiving- There's a lot of ways of doing this one but just pirate the fuck out of everything!!!! Burn it to a physical copy, share it with your friends/family! Make mix dvds, burn movies/tv shows! Directly download youtube videos! Print off your fave fanfiction and bind them into books! Particularly with streaming services directly deleting content and getting rid of them entirely this is important work but its also just very fun!! Seeing my wall filled with dvds and books and objects makes my brain happy but also again, the physical exchange of handing the media you love to another person is so unique! Theres lots of guides and methods of doing this depending on the method and medium your using.

Utilizing public spaces- Loitering is a good one as well to push yourself and to interact with things IRL! Use your public libraries and parks excessively! Spend a weird amount of time at the mall not buying stuff! This might seem like a weird one, but its a long term thing. It shows that ppl are supposed to be out and about without spending money, but also many of these places (except the mall obvi) get funding based on usage so the more you use something the more likely they are to make it accessible to more ppl! It also makes it more normal for ppl who need to loiter to be in these spaces which again adds more accessibility. This is also one that might get you unwanted attention so decide your comfort and safety level. Pushing boundaries is good but do it at your own pace.

Vandalize! - Again we're ramping up a bit on risk levels but I recommend it, particularly bus stops or putting up posters. Bus stops is bc at least in my city they only maintenance them once they've been 'ruined' so its actually a cosmic positive to do it in these spaces. Posters are also good! Ive seen quite a few for tenant unions but also a handful of them that are food resources or call outs for police. This is mostly to have passive way to show solidarity or get a message across. But also like your doing art! Great stuff! Again tho this comes with risk if caught or if you dont know what your doing so start with baby steps (like using sharpie on an Ad you fucking hate or putting up a poster in a neutral space to get used to it)

I don't know if there's a Warframe community on here, but I started playing 3 days ago, and I'm having a lot of fun!!

I really love how the movement feels, and the gun sounds are very pleasing for some reason.

I only have Volt at the moment, but the Austim has latched onto him and I fear I will not be able to play another frame, his first ability is just so useful AND satisfying 😭

I LOVE the accessibility options this game has, being able to have a permanent highlight on the enemies helps SO much it's actually insane. I can finally play a shooter game without losing track of the enemies, or just not being able to see them, it's great! I do wish there was an option to toggle sneak on and off instead of holding the button down, but it's very rare that I actually use stealth so It's okay.

So far I have only bought the starter weapon pack, and the Rajhin skin pack, but both have been amazing, my Volt looks awesome and he has a cool gun (I spent my platinum on an awesome sword too!!), but I'm tempted to buy the Ember Heirloom pack, for the skin and the platinum, even though I don't have Ember yet. Maybe I'll buy her with the platinum from the pack? Or maybe the 'female heroes' pack I saw. It was named something similar to that anyway.

I'm not really sure what I'm doing, there are a lot of mechanics to learn and I'm trying to avoid spoilers, I've been told the story is really good after all, and I don't want to risk anything by looking at tutorials and such.

I did have a look at all the Warframes though, and I want to build Inaros, Banshee and Hildreyn, they seem interesting! A few of them have abilities that seem just a bit too complicated for me unfortunately. Which is a large part of why I enjoy Volt so much, he's very simple.

I've gotten.. a little bit through the story, I'm like, sworn to the Red Veil or something, and I am at Mastery 3. So, not too far but not just starting out either! I just reached, I think it's called, Deimos. It's the cool red firey planet!

The fanmade Gravity Falls episode called Return to the Bunker is now out!!

I'll give my 2 cents below so, spoiler alert from here on out!

I loved how the episode was done. The artists did some amazing work with the animation and storyboarding for it. It surpasses in many ways even the work on Deep Woods. The VA's all did an awesome job too, with all of them being very close in getting to the voices of the original characters. I think the story was also really creative, fun and lore/character building. I've always longed for an episode diving into Mabel and Ford's bond and this episode did a great job with it. I also loved stuff like Stan and Dipper bonding, Wendy having more than just a background character role for once, how it explained stuff like the rift crack and especially that insane ending that makes it feel almost like a canon episode.

I have heard some negatives in regards to stuff like how Ford was handled by a lot of the Ford fans in the community which isn't too surprising given his character's love. I will admit personally that I felt Ford could have been handled better and as a retired fanfic and episode idea writer myself, it's not how I would have handled Ford, but I don't think for a sec it was unsalvageable. I think it would have worked better if Ford had more reasoning to why he was acting like that beyond trust no one, or that the end had him perhaps do what he did when they all were asleep so we wouldn't see the heartbreak in Mabel over that, but it is a fan episode. It's not how I would do it or probably Alex Hirsch, but that's us. I also feel there were plot holes here and there that were a bit hard to ignore that made the episode feel a bit clunky compared to how it was advertised.

But truth be told, the effort to put something like this together outweighs the flaws in it and I mean, it's fanmade so it's not actually canon or going to affect the show overall. IMO, Lost Legends had a lot more problems in how it handled the Mabel situation in ways (though that may be a bit of my left over Ford critic speaking from my younger days in the fandom when I was getting into all sorts of arguments over the Mabel issue with Ford fans on GF Amino but that's a tale for another day).

All in all, it was a great episode. If I had to give it a rating, I'd say 7.5/10 or 8/10. A huge congrats to the whole team for finishing it and releasing it. I know from speaking to Deep Woods members just how long and difficult these things can take to make and no matter the story, I'll always have respect for the artists and VA's who bring fan projects like this to life. What other cartoon has a fandom as dedicated as this one? Gravity Falls fans are one of a kind and 11 years on, we still show our love for this show in a greater way than other fandoms ever can.

To sum up, I have my pluses and minuses with this episode. Some are ones most fans will agree on and others will likely be a bit harder to do which I get. But my overall final take on it is good and my final rating out of 10 is a firm 7.5-8. I will agree though that Ford could have been handled better. Even back in 2018-2019 when I was writing fanfics and a bit more..."aggressive," in my stance of Ford to say it lightly, I did my best to write him in a way I felt was more aware and compassionate than RTTB Ford was. I am happy with how the episode handled Mabel however. I was so afraid they'd pull a Don't Dimension It type pattern but it was way better and I felt it was a decent step towards a Ford and Mabel like story. Still a way to go but not horrible.

But those are my two cents on Return to the Bunker.

Hi Finch! Hope you're doing well! I was wondering, since you work in animation, do you still consume art & animation content with same interest and enjoyment as before? Like, in school, for example. And do you have time and interest for it in the first place? Simply put, is it still good to be in this industry where you have to watch cartoons (I mean, probably you should know what's new coming up etc.), see what other people doing in art and their careers to keep abreast and not because you sincerely interest in it. Why asking: I'm trying to figure out what to do for living. I grew up online, I love the art community here and I love my online life, if that make sense. I'm 23 and work at aquarium store, we have fish and reptiles here and I see how my coworkers passionate about this sphere: they keep a bunch of terrariums, they know a lot about reptiles, how to build good aquascape ect. But I'm starting to understand that this is not what I'd like to be around all the time, like, I consume a lot of related content and don't have much time to look up for news in animation or just what my friends have drawn lately. So I've been thinking, maybe if I go back in something close to my habitual online life I'd be more satisfy.. so I'm just interested in your thoughts and experience. Yea I definitely still enjoy consuming art/animation! It's the best thing about the job tbh. It's nice to feel excited and inspired by anything new and awesome the industry releases, and what your friends and colleagues are getting on with. My absolute favourite part of being an animator is attending events, like Annecy festival for eg, and really feeling like a part of the magic.

I feel like this year especially felt like that for me, because so many inspiring things came out for me this year. Really feels like new and creative projects are being made, even by the bigwigs, n in the age of AI that's especially hopeful

I will say though, ofc it's different for everyone, but tbh I've found that, for me and my friends, we do kinda wish we didn't make our hobby our career. I still enjoy animation, but now it's a Job, and something I have to do 40+ hours a week, and it's hard to do anything for that length of time and still enjoy it fully yknow.

I enjoy it in the sense that I'm proud to be a part of this industry that has so many awesome artists and people in it, who all try so hard and really believe in something. It's easy to feel like you aren't making a difference and that life is mundane, with any job, but when there are big milestones in the community, or you attend an animation festival and meet everyone else just trying to make good work like you, it's nice and fulfilling.

Idk, I feel like any job can become a slog, but I keep thinking at least mine's a cool one that people think is impressive LOL

Alright cool, ok awesome, really great, loving S1 E20 at about 4:59 when Garroth straight up says Zenix was like a son to him. Can Garroth catch a fucking break please dude this poor fucking guy??

I also am just Thrilled at the ideas I'm coming up with for how I'd novelize early MCD and how I'd characterize Garroth and Zenix. I feel like I'll have to be tweaking them around a bit, but from what I remembered about Garroth in later episodes, I've been wanting to keep an eye on Garroth's themes of being a paternal figure to others around him, and I'm absolutely thrilled to ALREADY see it be brought up. I wanna write a bunch of scenes that really illustrate the bond between Garroth and Zenix that we're sort of just TOLD is there through dialog (limitations of the medium, it's expected that you'll fill in the gaps yourself a bit), where we have Garroth coaching him through a difficult and troubled time, teaching the boy how to laugh and have some self confidence. I want Aphmau and Zenix to bond a bit too, and have Garroth on the sidelines thinking that maybe Aphmau will help Zenix FULLY heal and get back on his feet, that she can help Zenix take the next steps into being a good man after Garroth helped him initially, and then all of a sudden, this all goes down, and Garroth has that all ripped out from under him. I think it also could do a bit of legwork in showing us why Garroth becomes so attached to Aphmau, because she's the most consistently good, reliable thing in his life. The one thing that doesn't turn out to only be using him for his station, the one thing that doesn't turn around and literally SHOOT HIM IN THE BACK as repayment for his friendship and goodwill. The world has lied to and betrayed and confused Garroth about what is right time and time again, but not Aphmau.

I think Garroth might be a really tragic character guys goddamn somebody help this poor minecraft man.

Also him wanting to keep talking to Aph after he wakes up but it's hurting him, and she tells him to rest, and he's like "I wanna keep talking... but you're right as always. I'm just happy you're home" is just genuinely a cute detail and I like what it adds to Garroth. He's honestly pretty interestingly characterized-- he's not SUPPOSED to exactly be a truly perfect, always-right type. He's a fallible man trying his best to do the right things in his position as a guard, the best things for the people around him, and he's seen enough to know that sometimes you can't be truly honest and transparent with those around you. He was wrong about Zenix. He has no idea about most of the big plots happening around him. I also like that, even though I know he ends up as a love interest later on, it's sort of like... the usual trappings of a romance setup aren't present in early MCD. He's not immediately smitten, though he does obviously like her and care, he's got other priorities, and he doesn't immediately bond with her or even truly communicate with her on a truly personal level all that much, most of their interactions in the videos having to do with guard-to-lord business or the weird goings on in the area. It feels like he and Aphmau just have more pressing shit to be doing, because by the stakes of the plot, they totally DO have more pressing shit to worry about, and I feel like a lot of media with romance plots tends not to give us this pre-romance interaction. I think it lends a lot to the emotional impact of Garroth falling in love with her, honestly, that there's this stage where nothing romantic is really building. It more closely emulates the feeling of falling in love in real life, with a slower build.

I just think it's neat ok

Since I'm still finding my feet when it comes to Sims 4 creators, I'm not super well-versed on the who's who. But I do want to give a big shout-out to @rebouks, who not only makes awesome poses, sims, and builds, but never fails to be kind and welcoming. And can we talk about what a talented storyteller she is??

I'm also a Sims 3 veteran, so I'd like to mention @olomaya, @greenplumbboblover, and @mookymilksims who continue to push our tired old game into vibrant new places.

Hi Rev, I hope it's not too awkward to ask, but I really really loved how you organized bookclub and the tristamp watch party and love all the discussions and analysis it brought on in the community here (I wasn't an active participant, but I participated in my heart and head every day with full excitement, enriched by the community).

To that end, I wanted to ask if you would ever consider hosting a trigun98 watch party, or if you'd have any tips to follow, since I think it's also an adaptation that did a lot of unique things to match the trigun essence and themes while having next to none of the official material as a reference. I'm personally find of building my own master doc analyzing the osts and the differences in each trigun iteration, and it fascinates me how they all diverge and reconverge on their themes. 98 is an adaptation that has a lot of depth to it if one scratches the surface to see how these unfolding events affect the characters differently, create new dynamics, and is arguably a lot more grim than the manga at times with how personal it becomes for our main characters. Despite that it holds a lighthearted attitude and outlook towards life.

Ah- that is me going off topic. I just thought I'd love to see what trigun lovers would think of it if we got a community event to look deeper into the series and discuss it, maybe even pointedly raise comparisons between the other adaptations.

I know that tristamp watch party is going to be active until the date the last episode aired, so I understand if this might be too much, or if the overlapping events might be too much. I just wanted to throw this thought out there, and also to give my thanks for all the positive energy you've built and spread through the community here.

Oh man, I'm so happy that you enjoyed them!!! Honestly, they were a blast to run. I didn't know what to expect going into either of them--I'm really just so shocked and kinda giddy that so many folks participated, had fun, and found friends through them. :D Regardless of if they created things or just read along!

I think a '98 watch party is a great idea! Unfortunately, I'm probably not the person to do it--I'm dealing with quite a bit and it's gonna be a rocky few months, bookclub 2.0 will be on the horizon at some point, and the other two Trigun iterations are more my bread and butter. (This isn't me shitting on it btw; it's exhausting scrolling through hate in the tags. Sure, I have criticisms for each version, but it's a very three-cakes scenario for me.)

But, like I said, this is an awesome concept for an event!!! I'm honestly a bit of a newb at running events, I've been on the fringes of mod teams before but these were the first ones that I actually ran, so I'm probably not the best to ask for advice given how much winging I do lol. I'd recommend looking at events you've enjoyed and emulating what they do, and getting the community involved as much as possible.

TL;DR: I can't do it, but if you or someone else wants to do it, go for it!!!

Hey, I just thought of, like, the singlest best Billy Batson hc I'll ever have so, here I go...

So, bc Billy grew up as poor, he would know what it's like to not know when your next meal would be, and even if odd jobs can get you some money to pay for one, it only goes so far. And also bc I love lil' Billy Batson with a longer-than-himself criminal record (of stealing from big corporation only) and a acab personality trait (I don't know how much I've seen Billy-steals-a-cop-car hc, but I dig it), mixed with a touch of feral Billy in it... *chef kiss*

So, all that, plus the hc that Persephone is like "(⁠●⁠♡⁠∀⁠♡⁠) a baby~!" at billy (I don't know where I've seen it before), and the fact that he would really feel like an hypocrite arresting some kid for stealing some basic necessities, like food or clothes, for themself when he probably did the same thing (probably to the same store) some time ago....

And so, came the idea to just grow it all himself,, like vegetables and fruits, and bc of magic (and HE'S magic, like the magic-est magic man around) he can grow more, faster, and also he's tight with Persephone (so she helps, like blessing him...?), and a hero, so who's really gonna stop him, right?

Like, I'd really like itty bitty billy, just breaking the economy(?)/capitalism(?) around food and basic necessities, bc let's be real, we all know that with the Wisdom of Salomon, he could probably pull off sewing some kids' clothes.

I'd just really love it if he, homeless, orphan, street rat Billy "I'm not 6 I'm 10" Batson, Champion of Magic, became the Protector of All Children (or something similar).

And also, if he had like some sort of ongoing truce with Poison Ivy, where when she is within Fawcett City, in Captain Marvel's domain, she isn't in Batman's reach anymore, as long as she Promise to help him grow his "little vegetable garden" (who's now like, decently Big).

'Cause I'm sure that billy "I lie to the JL for kicks but also bc I'm a kid with an adult body a word away" batson would be able to, not only weasel a Pact out of her (that would basically be sayin' "You are now my Slave" in small print, that would have her be in a do-or-die type of situation, with the 'do' part being "help me grow my plants", and the 'die' part being "you'll die horribly, and probably lose your soul too"), and also get a gigantic amount of respect, bc, like I said, he's tight with Persephone... the LITERAL Goddess of Spring, Grain, Nature and Destruction, and also the Queen of the Underworld, and Ivy grows plant so....

I'd just really like something like that in a fic, but I can't write, nor keep to a schedule (or even get it from start to finish with something on the middle) so... I just want this Billy Batson hc to be out there

I love the idea of Billy getting fed up with capitalism and providing for both himself and his community. And I also love the headcanon that various gods and goddesses adore Billy (including Persephone of course). Mixing those ideas together is awesome! I can just imagine him having a few secret vegetable gardens throughout the city that various homeless people and people who are low income/don't have food security could drop by and take what they need.

I think that if for whatever reason Poison Ivy found herself in Fawcett City, he wouldn't even need to trick her into some contract, she would just see his garden and be like "wow what kind of fertilizer are you using to get your tomatoes so big?" And then she would give him tips on how to grow different things even when he wasn’t getting divine help. She would also teach him about native and invasive species of plants so didn’t plant the wrong ones. Setting up secret gurellia gardens to turn the concrete landscape of a city's abandoned buildings into lush thriving environments is her jam.

This is an excellent headcanon!
