With all my love, pt 6
Our car drives out of Tokyo, the once vibrant neon lights dimming in the rearview mirror. Inside the vehicle, a heavy silence hangs like a storm cloud.
Bakugou sits rigid beside me, jaw clenched, staring straight ahead. Izuku, in the driver’s seat, occasionally glances at us through the rearview mirror, his knuckles white from gripping the steering wheel.
The bustling cityscape fades into the countryside, the stars now twinkling brightly against the night sky, freed from the city's light pollution. It’s been so long since I left the city, the last time was for our training camp at UA. What happened to us?
"Can someone please tell me what happened back there?" Izuku’s voice cuts through the silence, his eyes darting between us in the mirror.
Bakugou's grip tightens on his knees. I take a deep breath. "It’s complicated, Izuku. Katsuki and I... we’ve been going through some things." I sound like a mother breaking bad news to her child.
Izuku’s gaze shifts to Bakugou. "You two need to talk. This silence isn't helping anyone."
Bakugou scoffs. "Talk? She thinks I’ve been cheating on her."
Izuku's eyebrows shoot up, but he stays silent. For once, I’m grateful.
"You’ve been distant, Katsuki. Coming home late, missing our dates, disappearing for days. What else was I supposed to think?" My arms cross over my chest, frustration bubbling.
Bakugou sighs, running a hand through his hair. "You really think I'd do that to you? I’ve been hiding something, but it’s not what you think."
"What is it, then?" I question him, but he averts his gaze, staring out the window instead.
The landscape outside changes subtly, flat fields giving way to gentle hills and clusters of trees. Moonlight casts an eerie glow, illuminating our path. The car falls silent again, the tension thick as Izuku navigates through the dark roads. Finally, after what feels like an eternity, Izuku turns down a dirt road, leading us to a modest house. Bakugou lets out a deep breath, his grip on the door handle tightening.
"Come on," he says gruffly, stepping out of the car and gesturing for me to follow. ‘
I follow Bakugou up the path to the house, my heart pounding in my chest. He stops at the door, fumbling with the keys before pushing it open.
As we step inside, I take in the surroundings. The entrance hall is warmly lit by a small chandelier, casting a soft glow on the polished wooden floor. A plush rug lies beneath our feet, muffling our steps. The walls are adorned with tasteful art pieces, and a small table by the door holds a neatly arranged stack of mail and a decorative bowl for keys. I slip my shoes off next to him.
Bakugou leads me into the living room, and I can't help but marvel at the space. It’s furnished and beautiful. The room is spacious yet cozy, with large windows that offer a view of a well-kept garden outside. A comfortable-looking sectional sofa dominates the room, adorned with an array of throw pillows in various shades of blue and gray. A coffee table sits in front of it, holding a few magazines and an empty vase. The walls are painted a soothing shade of light gray, complemented by dark wooden bookshelves filled with an assortment of books and knick-knacks.
A large flat-screen TV is mounted on the wall, and below it, a sleek entertainment center holds various electronics and neatly arranged DVDs. The soft hum of an air purifier is the only sound in the otherwise silent room. Everything is meticulously arranged, reflecting a sense of order and calm.
“I don’t understand what we’re doing here.” I tug on Bakugou's sleeve to get his attention, my frustration clear. The room is shrouded in dim light, with the moon casting its soft glow through the windows, painting the walls in a subtle hue of silver. “Why did you bring me into the middle of nowhere?”
He doesn’t answer for a moment, his back towards me as he walks towards the large glass window overlooking the garden. The soft rustle of leaves and distant chirping of crickets create a serene backdrop to our conversation.
“Whose house is this?” I ask, my voice rising with a mix of confusion and anger.
"It's ours," he admits, turning around slowly, his voice low and strained. The moonlight catches the edges of his face, highlighting the contours and curves. "It was going to be the home we raised our children in."
My heart skips a beat as I process his words. "What are you talking about?" I press, confusion consuming me. "This isn’t our home."
He sighs, running a hand through his disheveled hair. "When you got hurt, it was one of the few times I’ve been afraid." His voice cracks, and I can see his shoulders tremble. "The doctors didn’t know if you’d ever wake up."
I want to reach out, to comfort him, but I stay silent. He needs to get this out.
"When you opened your eyes and called my name," his voice wavers, tears spilling from his eyes, "I knew I wanted to spend eternity with you."
I’m stunned. "You’ve been planning this since then?"
"Six months ago, I bought the land. I picked up extra shifts to build this. Every detail, every corner, designed with you in mind. I wanted to build this home for us, to show you that I’m serious about our future.”
I look around the room with new eyes. Everything reflects my tastes. My heart aches with the realization of his efforts. The soft gray walls, the comfortable sectional sofa adorned with an array of throw pillows, the sleek coffee table—every detail reflects my preferences, my style. The thought of him working tirelessly to create this place tugs at my heart.
"You’ve been working on this for six months?" My voice softens as I slowly begin to understand..
"Yeah," he murmurs, regret mingling in his eyes. "I wanted to surprise you. To make up for all the times I’ve been absent. But I couldn’t tell you. I didn’t want to ruin it."
I know I should be ecstatic, but anger ignites within me. "You kept this from me while I worried we were falling apart? Do you know how that feels?"
His expression hardens. "I was doing it for us! To prove I could give you everything you ever wanted!"
"But I never asked for this!" I shout. "I just wanted you, Katsuki!"
"I was trying to make things better!" he yells back. "I thought if I finished this place, you’d see how much I care!"
"What do you want from me?" I scream, tears spilling over.
"I want you to be my wife!" His voice cracks, the raw emotion behind his words slicing through the tension in the air.
I stare at him, shock consuming all of my words.
"What?"
Without another word, he storms to a drawer, yanking it open with a force that rattles the whole dresser. He pulls out a small velvet box, his hands trembling. "I wanted to propose to you here, in the house I built with you in mind." he says, his voice barely above a whisper, yet charged with desperation. "I love you more than anything and if I don’t ask you now, I might not be able to later.
Katsuki drops to one knee before me, holding out an engagement ring that catches the light with a mesmerizing sparkle. The band is a delicate, platinum twist, leading up to a stunning solitaire diamond, flawlessly cut and glistening like a fragment of a star. Smaller diamonds are embedded along the band, adding an extra layer of brilliance. It’s breathtakingly beautiful.
“Will you marry me?"
Tears blur my vision. "Katsuki..."
The weight of Bakugou's words hangs in the air, his raw admission still echoing in my ears. As he kneels before me, holding out the ring, time seems to stand still. My heart races, a whirlwind of emotions threatening to overwhelm me. Shock, confusion, anger, and a glimmer of hope—all tangled together.
"No more secrets, no more running away. Just you and me, building our life together. Please, say you’ll be my wife."
I look down at him, the moonlight casting a soft glow on his face. His eyes are filled with a mixture of desperation and vulnerability that I’ve rarely seen. This strong, fierce man is baring his soul to me, and it breaks something inside me.
My hands tremble as I touch his face. "Yes, I’ll marry you."
Relief and joy light up his face as he slips the ring onto my finger. He pulls me into a tight embrace, the tension finally dissolving.
He takes a deep breath, his gaze never wavering from mine. “I know I messed up. I thought I was doing the right thing, building this place for us. But I see now that I was wrong to keep it from you. I was afraid, afraid that I wasn’t enough, that I couldn’t give you what you needed.”
Tears blur my vision as I kneel down to be level with him, our faces inches apart. “All I ever wanted was you, Katsuki. Not some perfect house, not grand gestures. Just you.”
He reaches out, his fingers gently brushing away my tears. “I’m sorry,” he whispers, his voice breaking. “I’m so sorry.”
For a moment, we just sit there, on the floor of this beautiful house, holding each other. The anger and hurt begin to melt away, replaced by a deep, aching love. The road ahead is still uncertain, but I can see a glimmer of the future we could have together.

admiring from afar;
pairing- neighbour!sirius black x reader warning(s)- fluff. a/n- just a little comfort fic for myself cause i've been a bit unwell.
little train.
Tumblr media
it's cold. unusually cold for early fall. it seems you can't bury your face too far into the warmth of the wool of the burgundy scarf around your neck, even though you've got it till the bridge of your nose, just enough to keep your eyes out and peeping.
the sky is a beautiful orange hue when you finally stand at the doorway of your flat. you fiddle with the keys, fingers cold and numb from the bitter gusts of wind. you unlock the door, the familiar soft padded steps echoing as your cat walks towards you, her silver eyes sparkling through the coat of black fur; a quiet contrast.
'hello baby,' you say, as she purrs at your feet, nuzzling her snout through your flared trousers. sometimes you think you'd gotten a 'broken' cat, considering your cat wasn't stereotypically 'rude' or very 'unsocial'.
you put down the groceries, picking her up, and hiding her within the warmth of your wool sweater.
'hello,' a voice behind you almost startles you, breaking the sweet moment. you turn around, sliding down the scarf from your face. it's your neighbour- the very handsome who'd moved in a few weeks ago.
'hi,' you greeted him. he looked at the cat the softly purring under your sweater.
'i've never seen a cat so calm and friendly,' he says, long ringed fingers moving closer to the furball. 'is she the same with strangers?' he asked.
'no not really. she's usually quiet around the people she's familiar with or senses safety with,'
'cats tend to like me,' he said, pulling away his hand. 'however, since i'm a stranger, maybe it's the best i don't pet her.'
'i understand. cats can be difficult to deal with.'
'i know. my best mate's fiancé's cat quiet likes me. but my brother's cat doesn't.' he said. you smiled meekly, wondering to what you owed the small talk. he got the hint.
'i distract you, i'm sorry. i was wondering if you had any tea? i don't fancy going out, it's too chilly. just some tea leaves.'
'i do. come on in, i'm about to set up some for myself too.' he smiled, as if pleasantly thrilled by the offer.
'you're not lactose intolerant are you?' you asked, setting down the grocery bags on the kitchen counter. he shook his head, inky locks scattering over his chiseled features.
'would you like some cookies?'
'what kind do you have?'
'uhh...some caramel toffee ones, they're too teeth rottenly sweet. i s'ppose you don't like too many sweet stuff.' you huffed. he shrugged, giving you a smile.
'you'd be wrong then,' he said. you looked rather surprised.
you weren't wrong, not really.
'well, i'm one bad baker,'
'i'm sure you're underestimating yourself.'
*-
there was a knock at sirius' door. he'd been falling asleep, his reading glasses at the edge of his nose. the book he'd been reading was boring him direly.
it was on the floor. he picked it up before attending the person on the other side of the door.
'hello?' he asked, peeking out his head. once he saw it was you, wrapped in several layers, standing outside he opened the door completely.
'to what do i owe this pleasant surprise darling?' he said, leaning on the doorframe.
'are not going to let me in?'
'it's a mess,'
'can't be bad than mine,'
'trust me when i say, it is,'
'i'm sure you overestimate yourself.' you replied. he liked your cheek. that was something he was immaculately charmed by. and to charm sirius black - unconsciously was one hell of an achievement. you'd done it, somehow.
'tell me, darling,' he tried, watching as you entered the his flat, steps muffled by the thick fuzzy socks. 'what do i owe your presence to?'
'you're so corny,'
'just chivalrous,' he said, watching your face for any predictable retort. 'and a little pretentious, i s'ppose.'
that earned him a chuckle.
'nothing really, i was bored. so i thought i'd pop to check with my very handsome neighbour and talk with him,' you shrugged.
'neighbour? not a friend? ouch, you hurt me,' he said, dramatically putting his hand on his chest. you smiled,
'no no, you're a friend, of course. so tell me, what do you do?'
'i'm a mathematics professor. boring if you ask me.'
'consider me impressed. i was never any good at it,'
he smiled, setting down beside you on the couch.
'i'm sure the students absolutely swoon over you,'
'i'm sure they hate me. i can be...rather strict.' you laughed. a silence commenced. he gulped slowly, not really thinking about anything. he studied your features, the color of your eyes and hair. the soft vanilla scent upon you.
'i also sing in bars during the weekends. i'm not much of a good singer, but it's a hobby really,'
'i would love to see you perform,'
'i'm horrible at it, trust me.'
'you underestimate yourself.'
*-
you were present at the bar, a few minutes late. but sirius wasn't there.
not yet, anyway. you ordered yourself a non-alcoholic drink, not really in the mood to get drunk. you wanted to see sirius perform without any influence judging your decision making.
even though you were sure he was just underestimating his skills.
'hello folks,' the familiar voice ringed in the speakers. you took a sip of your drink, watching as sirius sat on the stool. the "folks" in question stared at him as if he were a trophy. as if at least one of them would take him home tonight. but oh did they know you were invited by him?
you took a sick pleasure at that thought, stomach churning, cheeks burning like a silly teenager high on hormones.
'today i feel very overwhelmed. like a teenager high on hormones, you know? because in this crowd i believe is somebody i invited. somebody who'd either flip me off or take me home. somebody i have a crush on. so hopefully my vocals aren't too bad.'
a few people, you noticed weren't too pleased by his words. some cheered, some looked around disappointed. a man with thick curly hair and round spectacles, however seemed utmost excited. he whistled and cheered.
you peeled your eyes from the crowd, deciding to take a moment to stare at sirius instead.
you found his silver eyes already upon your form. there was a certain warmth in them that hugged you. you cheered your glass in the air, taking a sip. he acknowledged it with a raise of his eyebrow and a slight curve of his lips. you relished the sweet taste of the drink flowing down your throat.
hearts skipped a few beats, perhaps.
but tonight, it was just to admire from afar.
and swirl the shine of eyes into all of the poems.

Fly It High
Tumblr media
*After failing to enter the front door of the household of Caleb Ramos, where a TOJ Code Orange threat is taken place, Green Thunder tries the backdoor by going over the stone molded fence to the pool, to which he falls flat on his ass.*
⚡: AH DAMN! Augh...walk it off, boy. Walk it....huh.
*Green Thunder notices the pool needed some cleaning work, as weird pale creatures are surfaced on the pool, looking like veiny worms with dozens of legs, all of them not moving. GT gets up to investigate the pile of odd bodies, even getting a pool net and foolishly pokes at them.*
⚡: Well whatever the hell happened...damn seemed like an agent already got here. The hell are these th-
*In a smashing instance, a window from the second story breaks through with a worm creature plopped on the floor. In a moment it scurries it's little legs around, finding it's footing as Green Thunder is taking it lightly*
⚡: EUGH what the FUCK! The HELL is that goddamn thing!? No no no, I'm out, I'm-
*In a second instance, a man donning a bright shining blue armor jumps out of the window and lands right on his feet next to the crawling creature. Green Thunder backs up as the man swings a battle axe glowing with green and blue neon lights onto the floor, slicing the creature in half, all the while he gutturally screams in a thick Gaelic accent. As he kicks the pieces off to the pool, he looks up and notices the man in the green suit piece of tech, scared shitless.*
đŸȘ“: This doesn't concern you, false knight! Go back to your little cave.
⚡: Whoa okay. Time out, time out. =doing the time out gesture= Hold up, what the hell, what's going on? What happened here?
đŸȘ“: Star Spawns happened.
⚡: What?
đŸȘ“: =points battle axe to the pile of bodies soaking in the chloride dyed pool= Least I remind you of the Ancient's ways, corrupted by the master, where meteor showers or aurora borealis happen, the stars fall upon the Earth. You're lucky enough I showed up, otherwise your Trinity of Justice would have to keep them alive before they turn into worse beings.
⚡: =squats down eyeing the monsters= They look like the XenoQueen got it on with the Eraserhead baby...well you know when it was grown up and uh...well anyways if it will make you feel better I'm not with the ToJ. I'm on my own here, and I'd have to assume you are too?
đŸȘ“: I'm different from you, wandering warrior.
⚡: Right well I bet you heard about a Code Orange Threat here. Caleb Ramos, a professor from Riverstone University. Advanced biology but toyed around with making house flies the literal size of houses some dozen years ago. What made you so special that you happened by the area?
đŸȘ“: Fool that you are to misunderstand what's going on. If I may properly introduce myself, I am the combined son of Odin and Zeus. I was chosen by the true Heirs of the Ancients to protect the planet from The Master's plan to corrupt you beings much like he did with the Ancients. Wielding the Axe of All Knowns, Armor of the Southern Isles and power gifted from the True Heirs to undo the Master's plan, I am Thy Neon Viking!
*A breif pause happens as Green Thunder has to collect what this cosplayer has ranted in the past minute*
⚡: So...where's Caleb?
*Thy Neon Viking points his axe once again to the pile of bodies, especially to one where it's belly looks full.*
⚡: =Shakes head= Okay, I don't know what kind of nut job thing you got goin' on pal, but right now we got anomalies in the pool, an MIA civilian and by any moment an actual agent is gonna come by and for our sakes, pin this on the both of us. You and I gotta zip.
đŸȘ“: In a moment. =Turns around to the glass sided back door= There maybe some more Star Spawns. I'll hold them off back, you can just go.
⚡: You know I kind of realize something....out there in the drive way there was a station wagon. Looked pretty gritty, with a mismatched door. With a big screen TV at the back. =Looks over Neon Viking's shoulder, peering through the glass door to see a pretty bad scuffle. Tossed chairs, weird black goo on the walls, a nice clean outline where a TV would be hanging on the wall= So what's going on?
đŸȘ“: Hey like I said, Viking business. Okay so what, I broke the screen. You know what they say...uh...always recyle!
⚡: Buddy....=takes a big whiff= yeah that's skunk weed al-
*In a flashed moment Neon Viking jabs his fist to Green Thunder's stomach, whereas he holds onto the impact, putting his legs together and falls right by the poolside. Groaning in pain, Neon Viking runs right out to the door, smashes right through the glass door and goes through the spacious fancy household with his battle axe grinding through the floor, more like he's dragging it behind.*

Crimson & Clover (rated T)
No major content warnings apply, Kochanski/Lister focused. Mild flirting/sexual content, very PG13 lol
Summary: Kochanski falls in love with Lister, over and over. A short anthology set in four alternate universes; Series 1 Kochanski meet-cute, Deb/Kochanski stuck in an escape pod, Holo!Lister/Kochanski roommates, canon-ish series 7 Lister/Kochanski sharing food
Chapter One: I Don't Hardly Know Her
"Can I buy you a drink?"
Kochanski glanced over her shoulder. She'd seen him around, usually fiddling with a malfunctioning vending machine. Occasionally he managed to actually fix the problem.
"Soup guy," she smiled.
"Yeah, that's me. Regular soup-erman." He scratched his neck, nervous. Aw. He was nervous to talk to her.
"Well, you do an essential service 'round here. What would we have without our chicken noodle?"
"Less diarrhea, probably," he quipped, before realizing what he'd just said, eyes wide. "Smeg- I didn't mean to say that. I had better material before I walked up here, swear."
"Mhmm. You gonna ask me if I have a map, then? If it hurt when I fell from heaven?"
"Yeah, I like your outfit, but it'd look better on me floor." He snorted and offered his hand. "Dave Lister."
"Kristine Kochanski. But call me Kris. My friends do."
"D'you like pool, Kris?"
"Only if you like losing," she grinned.
The night was still early, and they more or less had the place to themselves. Quiet, beyond a few scattered conversations and the tinkling of an arcade game waiting patiently for its next victim. Dave's eyes were warm and dark, sparkling in the dim light, a cocky smile spreading across his face. Alright, he was gaining confidence. Kochanski might have been worried if she hadn't been hustling since year eleven.
"Care to gamble?"
"Yeah, sure." Lister lifted the little triangular rack, each ball in its right place. "I'm flat broke, so I'll have to owe you, but-"
"Wait, really? So how were you intending to pay for my drink? Or yours?"
"Well, you think the bartender'd let me pay him with me body?" He struck a goofy pose. Alright- Lister did have a nice body. Soft in all the right spots. Shame she'd have to take the bartender's sloppy seconds unless someone bailed him out.
"Tell you what. If you win, I'll pay your tab. If I win
you have to do whatever I say for five minutes."
"Guess I'd better order a few more, then. Take advantage. Ladies first?"
"Alright," Kochanski nodded, and with a satisfying crack the cue ball crashed smack through the middle of the triangle Lister'd set up. Good break. She'd already sunk the three ball, and two others were lined up beautifully next to the corner pockets.
"You're gonna ruin me, aren't you," Lister murmured.
A couple rounds later, a couple stolen glances at Lister's arse as he crawled halfway over the table for his "perfect shot," a couple terrible dirty jokes, and Kochanski had indeed come out ahead.
"Too bad," she said, slinging an arm around his waist. "I guess you're mine for the next five minutes."
"Only the next five?"
"Mm. Well, first off-" Kochanski dug around in her pants for the battered red leather wallet she'd kept since middle school, stuffing a wad of dollarpounds down the front pocket of Lister's horrible Hawaiian shirt. "I suppose I could pay our tab. It's the least I could do after thrashing you so horribly."
"I barely lost!" Lister complained, but the toothy grin hanging off his face didn't falter. "Besides, I was distracted-"
"No excuses! I was distracted too, and I managed just fine."
"You were?"
"I've only been ogling you all night. Couldn't keep my eyes off you to save my life," Kochanski laughed. That did it: stupid smirk gone, Lister's mouth hung halfway open, clearly flustered. "Alright, first command. Ready?"
"Nope," Lister said. "But go for it."
"Kiss me."
And he did. The crush of people around them, the chatter, the tinny music blaring through the speaker of the regulation jukebox, the clinking of glasses half-full and half-empty- all of that melted away. Lister's lips were a little chapped, but his mouth was warm and he seemed content to follow her lead. He was the perfect height for Kochanski to wrap her arms around his neck, feel his heart beating fast against her skin.
She wondered if he knew she was just as nervous as he was. This felt like the beginning to something special- this felt fun, easy, perfect- and the thought of it ending a few hours from now felt absolutely heartbreaking.
"Wow," Lister puffed after they separated.
Kochanski traced a finger down his cheek, delighting in just how little it took to make him breathless.
"This place got crowded fast," she sighed, trying to maintain her façade. Stay cool. Seem witty. "How would you feel about coming back to mine? Or- I guess that'd be a waste of my four minutes, walking all the way there."
"Hey, tell you what," Lister said. "You can have all the time you want if you show me how you made that last shot."
"You sure you can handle a whole lecture on trigonometry?"
"I can handle anything you want me to," he shot back.
"Hah. We'll see," Kochanski chuckled, and she grabbed his sweaty hand in hers.
This was definitely something special. Maybe it was just the alcohol talking, maybe the adrenaline of kissing a bloke she barely knew, maybe the relief of a bright spot in the monotony of space- but whatever it was, this was something she didn't want to let go of anytime soon.
And to his credit, Lister held on for dear life as she pulled him out the door.
Chapter Two: I Think I Could Love Her
"I can't believe out of all the people in all the universes, I'm going to die with you." Kochanski would have torn her hair out, but leaving a pretty corpse was probably the last scrap of dignity she had to hold onto.
Deb smegging Lister. She'd fallen through time and space and ended up stranded with Deb- which, as it turned out, wasn't short for Deborah at all, but Debauchery. Seriously! Whose idea had that been? It was like the polar opposite of those old Puritan names; fitting, Deb would've made a perfect witch. Though, Kochanski supposed, they probably burned warlocks in this universe.
But anyway, none of it mattered anymore: not finding her way home, not finding her way off Starbug to some non-existent greener pasture, and certainly not the well-seasoned grudge brewing between them.
"C'mon, you worry too much. Sure, we're stuck drifting through space in this tiny, cold escape pod, and our only hope of being rescued is Arlene and the kids and Dog and Kryten findin' us-" Deb stopped herself. "Okay, yeah, I get why you're mad."
"The only reason I'm not strangling you right now is because I'm on the fence about if it's even worth the wasted effort," Kochanski huffed, and then, guiltily, "and maybe because I don't want us to end things on a sour note."
"How's about a sweet note, then?"
"What do you mean?"
"Well- I know I've been a bit awful to you-"
"You ate the last of my lipstick."
"That wasn't on purpose- I was drunk! I thought it would taste good!" Deb shifted in her seat. "And it did, by the way."
"Wow, Deb, that makes me feel so much better."
"No, c'mon. Let me make it up to you. Really, I'm sorry. I can be such a smeghead." She reached forward, and Kochanski didn't pull away as she threaded their fingers together. "Look, it's cold out there, and dark, and scary, and you of all people deserve to die someplace warm, alright?"
"Comforting thought."
"I dunno. It's all I ever wanted, myself."
"Fiji. Right." Kochanski sighed, scooting closer. They were sat on opposite sides of the cramped little pod, knees touching, bathed in the hot, harsh light of a nearby star. Deb had spent the first twenty minutes having a miniature panic attack, but by now she'd managed to pull herself together somewhat.
Her hands still trembled slightly, so Kochanski gave them a tight squeeze. They were softer than she'd expected. There were calluses from playing guitar, and from riding that damned bike, sure, a few scrapes and scars, but Deb's long, lovely fingers fit perfectly between hers.
"Let me be your Fiji for a little bit," Deb said softly. "Y'know, like
maybe I'm not your Lister, but I don't mind if you just want to pretend for a while. Just to
 to not die alone, right?"
"And I'll be your Kochanski?"
"Nah. You're twice as beautiful as my Kochanski. He could never pull off that jumpsuit."
"Stupid." How Deb could manage to pull a laugh out of her even now, she had no clue.
Exhausted, tired of being terrified, Kochanski decided to kill off the last of her common sense, leaning forward to bury her face in Deb's shoulder. She smelled like cigarettes, burnt hair, pine-scented air freshener- probably what she used instead of doing her laundry- and masala chai. But
well, if Kochanski really stretched her imagination, maybe she could smell the ocean in Deb's sweat. Maybe that artificial pine could be the smell of palm trees. Fiji. Lost dreams.
"Wanna do something stupid?" Deb murmured.
"I am."
"I mean, stupider. Since we're practically dead and all anyways."
"I'm not going to have sex with you just because we're lost in space, Deb," Kochanski sighed.
"Hang on! That wasn't what I was about to ask," she huffed. "I mean, unless
"
"No."
"What I was going to ask was- well- it's me last cigarette. Thought I'd offer you half." She produced it from her inner jacket pocket, a crumpled, pathetic little thing.
"That's going to cost us precious oxygen, you know," Kochanski grumbled, but she took it, hands shaking, and let Deb flick open the lighter.
"Hey, look at you. I knew you were corruptible, deep down."
"What can I say? You bring out the worst in me." Kochanski balanced the cigarette between two fingers, exhaling and pushing the filter end between Deb's lips.
This wasn't the worst way to go. Well- they'd start asphyxiating in a few hours, and she might change her mind about things then, but at the very least she wasn't alone. At least, out of all the people in all the universes, Deb was sort of
alright. Or, she was kind, sometimes, gentle, thoughtful enough to want to take care of Kochanski even in the face of total annihilation.
Maybe, if they survived this-
No. Definitely not, Kochanski thought, frowning as she burrowed deeper into Deb's jacket. No way she could fall in love with someone like Deb Lister. Not in three million years.
Unfortunately for her, she would in fact live to find out.
Chapter Three: I Wanna Do Everything
It wasn't fair.
Nothing in life was, as evidenced by the fact that they were here, a bloated metal pimple staining what could otherwise be a perfectly serene field of stars, and she was the last human left besides Dave.
Dave.
God, Dave.
He'd been doing absolutely horrible things to her lately, without even really trying. What's the point of taking a shower when you're a hologram? But he would walk into the kitchen in his fluffy blue bathrobe, dripping wet, like it was completely normal. It had to be on purpose. He had to know he was torturing her, didn't he? But in the interest of not being a complete shrew, she'd kept her mouth shut.
Then she'd started dreaming about it. Her and Lister, kissing, touching, laughing, in impossible bedrooms, in moonlit Mars lagoons, in the long elevator trips she used to take to work. Even her subconscious was conspiring against her, and all because Lister was allergic to pants.
"You can't treat this like a bachelor pad," she finally complained. "I mean, yeah, there's nobody left to gripe about it but me, but it doesn't mean I like seeing you run around naked."
"Alright, alright. I'll get Holly to pixelate me bits, and then it won't matter what I wear, eh?"
"No- keep the robe on, or I swear I will swap you out with Second Technician Rimmer again."
"Look, if it's really makin' you uncomfortable, I'll quit it, but I just don't see what the big deal is. I mean- I'm fully covered, right?"
Sure. Most of the time. But then he'd move the wrong way or bend down to do something, and Kochanski had to deal with the ache that accompanied catching a glimpse of his bare thighs or round arse, or find herself mesmerized by the way a simulated droplet of water slid down his chest, disappeared beneath the loose collar of the robe. Like now, for example.
It was too much.
"Let's just make a compromise. You can walk around in pajamas all you like, and I promise I won't bother you, alright?"
"Alright," Dave nodded, and with a snap of his finger, he was clad in a pair of ratty long johns that were somehow so, so, so much worse. Nothing left to the imagination. She could almost feel the thin fabric under her fingertips- if he were corporeal she'd rip it apart in an instant.
"Nevermind," Kochanski groaned, her head thumping against the table. "I give up. Pixelate your bits."
"Knew it," Lister laughed. "You've been thirsting after me, haven't you? What happened to 'not if you were the last man on Earth?'"
"I'm allowed to change my mind. Besides, you
you've gotten better lately. At listening. Being an actual friend to me, instead of getting mad when I'm not that perfect person you built up in your head."
"I've been trying." Lister took a seat next to her, drawing his lips thin. "Turns out, dying makes you put things into perspective a bit, yeah? I mean, I wasn't exactly cut out to be a philososophist or anything, but
I think maybe having to let go of all the physical stuff makes me appreciate the simple things a hell of a lot more than I used to. Like friendship. Just
cherishing each moment we have, right?"
"That's pretty thoughtful," Kochanski nodded. "But full disclosure- if you weren't dead right now, I'd already have you pinned to this table."
"Yeah, to smeg with philosophy," Lister said, tugging at the collar of his long johns. "Least now I can get out of these in about an eighth of a second."
"No," Kochanski smiled, leaning back in her chair. "Do it the old-fashioned way. As slow as you can. No pixelation necessary."
"Yes, ma'am," Lister grinned, eagerly unfastening the top button.
Chapter Four: What A Beautiful Feeling
Grueling work, keeping them all alive.
Starbug's engine had been stalling out again, and as the only person aboard with basic literacy who wasn't wasting it reading laundry tags, Kochanski had taken it upon herself to crack open a motor control textbook and try to fix the issue.
It wasn't too difficult to identify the problem- a part in the gigantic alternator had worn down. The difficult part was finding the tools and materials to fix the damned thing. Apparently, scrapping derelict ships meant searching for curry spice, flashy-looking textiles, and lemon-scented disinfectant, and not essential things like oil, coolant, spare parts, or welding equipment.
Still, she was doing her best. At least the thing still ran- barely- and life support was still online when it didn't.
"Kris," came Dave's uncertain voice from behind her, and Kochanski quickly switched off the soldering iron. She lifted her makeshift face shield, wiping away the sweat. At least Lister had clapped a hand over his eyes in some attempt at keeping his vision intact. Kochanski had given him a lecture and a half the last time he'd walked in on her tinkering.
"What's wrong?"
"Well
" The hand came down, revealing an apologetic expression. "I sort of need you to come check on something over in the midsection."
"Really? Again? How many times is the Cat going to try mating with that chair?"
"Until he gets it pregnant."
She glared at him.
"His words, not mine!"
"Fine, I'll come fix the smegging chair again. Give me a second."
Normally, Dave walked through the hall with his head hung low in situations like these, but today he seemed almost happy about the prospect of cleaning up after the Cat's liaison. It sparked a bit of annoyance, actually. If it was so trivial, if he was so chipper about it, why didn't he try to fix the damn thing? Work, work, work, and all she ever had to show for it was-
Oh.
All the furniture in the room that wasn't bolted down had been shoved off to the side, and a few blankets were draped over the table to form a lopsided tent. A couple silver crinkly sleeping bags lined the floor, and Lister had hooked a spare monitor up to a precarious chain of extension cords to get it inside.
And impossibly, even though they'd run out weeks ago, there was a little bowl of cottage cheese, with a heaping of beautiful yellow pineapple chunks dripping over the top.
"What is this?" she gasped. "It's not my birthday- is it?" No way to tell, really- it all sort of blended together after a while.
"No, no. I just- well- you need a break. You've been workin' down there for thirty-two hours straight, and that can't be good for you, can it."
"I've what?"
"So," Lister said, gently guiding her towards the tent, "let's watch a movie, yeah? How to Steal a Million? It's a classic."
"I guess I could rest for an hour or so," Kochanski reluctantly nodded. "I might have better luck making that part with fresh eyes."
It was perfect.
Lister closed the blankets as soon as they were properly settled, and then it was like they weren't even on Starbug anymore. Just the comforting buzz of the screen, in between bites of creamy, sweet, tangy cheese curds, both of them lying on their stomachs like children at a sleepover.
"Thanks," Kochanski murmured, leaning her head against Dave's shoulder. "I really needed this."
"Of course. I have to look out for you, y'know? You're my best friend."
"Don't say that! I think Kryten might actually murder me."
"Ah, c'mon. There's enough of me to go 'round, the both of you can learn to share."
A stomp disrupted their little cocoon.
"And what am I, bud? Chopped tuna?"
"Cat-" Lister poked his head out of the tent.
"Forget it. I came here to visit my girl, and I got her. I'm leavin'." A sound like a chair being scraped against the floor. Yep.
"Well, he'll get over it," Dave assured her, but Kochanski was stifling a yawn. The oversaturated twentieth-century colors were starting to bleed together on the screen, hazy and dreamlike.
"Sorry," she mumbled. "It's not the movie- I just think I might be tired."
"Yeah? You've only been awake for a day and a half. Here- finish the last bite of that, and I'll put the dish away and leave you to it."
"Actually
I'm full," Kochanski lied, handing him the bowl. One last piece of pineapple.
Lister hesitated.
"Really?"
"Really."
He smiled, wide, his eyes bright, and scooped the last spoonful into his mouth.
It was the tastiest bite she'd never eaten.

Just one yawn, and I missed watching him exit the door. Now there's just a grey sky, maybe tinged a little blue if you really squinted, and there's a thin line of sea below - also grey, with a little blue.
He'd taken the hat near the door with him, which was good, but which I also felt bad about. If he'd forgotten it, at least I could see him one more time before he left. I'd shout after him, and he'd turn back from the staircase, hand on his absent-minded head, and retrieve the hat.
He wouldn't thank me, but well, he took the hat. Isn't that thanks enough?
We liked the flat because we both loved the sea. You can never go wrong with taking in the sea breeze. The apartment building looked a little sinister - tall, with many wings, all shaped like hard-edged pillars. There used to be plenty of people living there, and the contractor said that there would be even more coming soon, once the economy in the area picked up.
If you looked through the bedroom window now, you could see that three of the buildings had collapsed. The last collapse was three days ago.
When my husband returned from work, he set his hat down and took his coat off. I produced a glass of water for him, and he drank it all down. It's the small things like that - that's how he thanks me.
I asked him if he had any luck looking for a new flat. He shook his head and handed the glass back to me. After he'd caught his breath a little (having climbed seventeen floors, because the lift was broken), he let out a big yawn.
"Did you look?" I asked.
He shot a stern look at me. "Do you think I get paid to look for flats? I'll go see on the weekend."
I nodded. He won't apologise, but he looked away from me. That should be apology enough.
I turned the television on for him. I asked him what channel he'd like to watch, and he waved his hand dismissively, so I put it on the third channel (of three), which had a variety show going.
I cut carrots and spring onions on the chopping board while we watched, until he snapped at me and told me to do the cutting sometime earlier in the day, not when he needs his peace and quiet.
The television roared with laughter.
"I had other things to do in the day," I said.
"Of course." He looked tired and disgusted. He pulled out a pack of cigarettes from the coat and left to watch the sea from the corridor outside the flat.
I cut the vegetables.
That night, while the crashing of the waves lulled both of us to sleep (some of us quicker than others), I watched the still ceiling fan, and I wondered how this building was going to collapse. Will one side fall before the other? Will the pieces come straight down on us, or will they tilt as they fall, piercing us with sharp edges and breaking skin?
My husband snored. I wondered if I should turn the fan on. He always complained that it was a waste of electricity when we had so much sea breeze coming through the windows. The curtains were straight and still, though, and the moon was hiding behind clouds.
I decided to respect his wishes. No fan. What if it's the last time I see him? It's best to respect people while they're still alive.
The next day, I did my best not to yawn. I popped open the pods, pulled the peas out of their homes. My husband polished his boots and he tried to hum. When he got up, he stretched, which I didn't like, because it would crease his shirt and jacket. I'd ironed them only half an hour before that.
No yawning. I had to take him in before he left. It could be the last time I saw him. One of these days, it was definitely going to be it.
What would he do, when he came back to find that his building had collapsed, burying his wife underneath the rubble? He'd want to put his hat and coat away and kick his feet up and watch television, and instead he'd have to go back the way he came, back to town, and maybe sleep on a bench at the station. He'd have to return to the big city and find relatives, find a new job, a new place to stay.
Once again, I looked up. The fan was still off. I will turn it on after he goes, I thought - but he wasn't in the room any more. I put down the peas and walked out of the door, and I caught a glimpse of him as he turned for the staircase, going down the seventeen floors.
I'd missed him, again. And all for what? A fan? A fantasy? I didn't even know what I had been doing when he left. I'll have to actually pay attention next time.
In the bedroom, I try to read a magazine, but I keep getting distracted by the window. There was no sky through that window before. One of the wings of the building blocked it off. You could see women hanging clothes out, and sometimes I waved at them. They waved back. We smiled, smudges in different hives. I wished I had their telephone numbers. Not that it would have done us any good after their building collapsed.
I read the words in the magazine, but my thoughts kept spinning out. I wondered if the women in the other building were still buried there in the rubble, or if they'd been outside when the collapse happened. Maybe they survived, even. Would I survive? Seventeen floors - doesn't seem possible. Is it more dangerous to live on a lower floor or a higher floor when a building collapses?
In the bathroom, I noticed that a crack on the ceiling had grown a little wider. I shook my head. It would be especially bad to have a building collapse while you were showering. Can you imagine being found in the rubble naked and with dust sticking all over your body? I kept my showers short.
When it was the weekend, I urged my husband to look for a new flat. There's got to be real estate agents in the town. There's got to be good places.
There's a lot of things that he said.
"The commute would be too long."
"There's no other buildings."
"We won't find a flat as spacious as this one."
"Let me be. Don't I deserve at least a couple of days to myself?"
"If you're so worked up about it, why don't you go look for an agent?"
It took a few weeks, but the idea did germinate in my head. Maybe I could go see an agent myself. I may not have the money to make the deal, but surely I could figure out everything else myself.
So I put my hat on, I slid my purse up my shoulder, and I glanced at him - cigarette in mouth, towel around his waist, retreating to the bathroom with the crack on the ceiling.
On the other side from the flat's front door, the sea smashed against land. Inside, the breeze lifted curtains. The bathroom door slammed shut and was locked from the inside.
It could be the last time I see him, I thought.

artist!Robert Plant AU one shot.
a/n: this really started out as a song I wanted to write. But I knew I had to turn it into a longer writing!!
themes: fluff, mild implications of nsfw and tw: childhood trauma.
summary: in which Y/N becomes a muse for Robert, a landscape artist in more ways than one. (Man, that summary is so shit but let's roll with it)
Tumblr media
pairing: artist!Robert Plant x fem!reader
chi·a·ro·scu·ro
the treatment of light and shade in drawing and painting.
an effect of contrasted light and shadow created by light falling unevenly or from a particular direction on something.
"Lean back for me a bit more, darling. That's right, relax."
As she moves, the old sofa creaks beneath her. Chilled air gusts through a partially opened window, making her shiver and sending miniscule bumps all over her bare skin. Her eyes drift over the fixtures inside the cozy cabin, illuminated by an outmoded oil lamp situated on the man's table. Several tiny moths were floating around it as the flame wavered ever so slightly from the breeze.
Scattered were all paintbrushes and smudges of paint were messily smeared all over the table. A round board was placed so close at the edge (one she heard him call before —a palette). In the middle is a rustic cup with half-empty, now cold tea. But a paint-smudged hand grasped on its handle and swiftly brought it over to a mouth.
Then her eyes met his.
His frizzled, curly blond locks are pulled into a disheveled bun. One he pinned up so carelessly with a thin, unused paintbrush as to prevent it from obstructing his view but a few ringlets managed to escape and are now framing his face.
Ivory-colored shirt, a few buttons undone to reveal smooth skin of his collarbones which were also marked with a few shades of paint. Some scattered across his jawline to his cheek.
Lips are pursed and eyes are pulled into deep concentration, they are set into a particular part of her. As if to capture the exact curvature of the crease on her waist.
Salient was the cleft on his chin and the sharp edge of his cheekbones by the incandescent light lent by the lamp, making him look like a contrast between sinister and elegance.
He dipped a brush and carefully made short strokes on the canvas, pausing every now and then to look at her.
The sun was setting and the sky was shaded a dull gray, providing so little of brightness which seemed to have darkened even more being situated in a lush forest.
Many months ago at this time of the day, she would have just been getting up from her sleep. Wake up and get ready for a long shift. It was a routine she had gotten so used to every day.
Take a bath. Eat. Pick out an outfit. Put on makeup. Be into the persona.
She would become a completely different person as soon as she stepped into the establishment she knew for as long as she moved into the town a few months ago.
From having to move into different cities and using different names to hide her identity. All of it to escape the filthy and haunted ghost of her past.
Screaming. Glass breaking. Bruises. Slamming doors.  All of the things a child shouldn't have to go through. She took a risk and ran away from it.
And here is where she ended up thirteen years later.
Lacklustre eyes unmoving as they steadily stared back at her in a blurry mirror inside the changing room. All the girls' chattering seemed to have been muted and faded in the background as she gazed at her reflection. She picked up the small item in her hand, before taking the cap off and swiped the crimson lipstick across her chapped lips, creating a thick shade.
"Y/N, you ready to go?"
She turned her head back to Don, the club manager. She smiled and moved her head in a single nod.
“Sure, Don. Just give me a short moment”. She adjusted the strap of her black velvet dress and walked on the familiar, dimly lit hallway. Her stilettos clapped quietly on the floor as she padded and stopped in front of a red curtain covering the doorway from the side to the stage.
"How's it going, folks? Alright, alright. I'd get right into it. This is the moment you've all been waiting for. The crowd favourite, slithers like a python, mistress of the night; Marilyn"
Then, she waited as the main lights switched off and took her cue to enter as smoke filled the platform. Coloured lights gleamed right through. She situated herself right in the middle then circled her hand on the pole as the first note of the song started to hum quietly. Like a distant patter of rain—calm before the storm. Her hips moved into the rhythm and fluidly sneaked around the pole as the cloud of smoke started to clear out. Gazing into the crowd of men, her blood-red lips quirk into a smirk.
It was the only time she knew she had complete power and control. And she relished it, savoring the potency.
Her hands smoothed all over her now slightly perspired skin as men clamored and hooted for her. Bills were haphazardly thrown into the dancefloor. Something that she wasn't used to when she first started, it made her feel cheap. Dirty. But her routine carried on almost every night, she eventually got used to it and had even grown to like it.
Then she spotted him.
Big ball of golden hair illuminated by stage lights. He was situated amongst the sea of predators, his eyes followed the fluidity of her movements. But what struck her the most was the way he was watching her. It wasn't shadowed by lust, but more of an intense wonder and curiosity. It was as if he was memorizing each part of her curves, but for another purpose.
Her gaze somewhat mirrored his. He definitely wasn't strange-looking. Hell, he might have been the most beautiful man she has ever seen. He didn't belong to a place where no good men wander around. Both his beguiling beauty and aura was completely out of place for such a place like this.
The song then came to a stop. Her number was over but her eyes remained locked with his. It was only then she came back to consciousness as Don's voice boomed into the large speakers, signalling the end of her performance. She collected the bills scattered on the floor and walked off the stage, throwing a last glance into the crowd as she took her exit.
He was gone.
He wouldn't show up for a couple of days. She was sure, of course. The moment she steps out, her eyes would already be skimming through the lounge, and would sigh in disappointment if she didn't spot any sign of him.
"Have you seen your mysterious man yet?"
One of the girls she was closest to, Hershey, asked as she counted the thick block of bills on her hand.
"He wasn't out there tonight"
"You could have been hallucinating. Anyway, you told me he was 'like an angel'"
Hershey laughed, mimicking the way she had said the last part with a breathy tone and added, "Or could have been disappointed in your dance number, ran away and swore to not step a foot into this place again"
She stopped momentarily, chuckled lightly and sighed, "You may not be far from the truth but we'll see."
Then he would be there the next night, positioned right at a table at the back. His curly locks gave his identity right away, with his elbows propped up and fingers poised against his chin, bearing the same gaze.
Later that night, he'd be waiting right outside of the club.
"The show was spectacular."
She tilted her head to him, nodded and smiled.
"Thank you."
She wasn't sure how it ended up with her sitting on a stool inside a cozy 24-hour operating diner so late at night, chatting with her "mysterious man" late at night, who introduced himself as Robert. He was apparently a landscape artist and has traveled the world where he finds inspirations for his works.
"The best place I have ever been to? Hm. I'd say Machu Picchu, set in the high mountains of Andes in Peru, above a river called Urubamba. I had to hike all the way up, and you could see the breathtaking view when you reach the top."
"That does sound very lovely." She sighed wistfully.
"Have you ever traveled anywhere outside the country?"
"Oh no, I have not. I move to different places a lot but I've never gone out, never had the chance to."
"Ah, you should! It's wonderful."
She nodded, "Do you only do landscaping?"
"Well, no. I do a little bit of abstract art but I focus mainly on landscaping. I was thinking of expanding more, though. Maybe portrait, or nude art."
"That's a good idea. An artist has to come out of his comfort zone and be able to become great."
"Yeah
", he trailed off, as if lost in thought. "I hope this doesn't come off as strange or I as a creep. But may I ask you to be my muse? Don't worry! We'll only do portrait." He added the last sentence quickly.
She tilted her head to the side and looked at him, her brows furrowed deep in thought.
"You don't have to s—"
"I'll do it."
A few days later, she was again popped up on a stool inside his flat just a few blocks away from the club. His place was spacious, but had a very rustic feel to the interior design. A few souvenirs from different countries were neatly placed on a shelf and most of his paintings were hung stylistically on the walls (in which she stared at in complete awe for what she could tell an hour each painting until he had to drag her away to his studio)
Her fingers fiddled as she tried to stay still under his calculating gaze. She never had much problem with how she looked and never had insecurities. Perhaps she just didn't care enough to be insecure. But at that moment, she thought of how she must've appeared to him and if she was good-looking enough to be an inspiration for his art.
"Are you alright there?"
"Yes! Yes, I
 Yeah I'm alright."
His hand stopped and placed the paintbrush on the table. "Are you sure? If you're not comfortable or if you need a break, we could stop for a bit."
She shook her head vigorously, "No, it's okay. Don't worry."
"If you say so."
She let her eyes travel from his bare foot, to his khaki trousers, to his satin shirt with top three buttons undone, to his face. Oh, his gorgeous face. It was pulled into a deep concentration as he stared at his work, giving her some time to study his majestic features.
His eyes flickered to hers as if sensing her stare and playfully frowned, a small smile curled on the side of his lips.
"What?"
"What?"
He laughed, "You were staring."
"I was. Is it a crime?"
"No, I wouldn't say it is." He said with a teasing edge to his voice.
It was their arrangement which they stick to a few times a week. On her day off, after work if she wasn't feeling too exhausted. There was an obvious attraction lingering inside the room of his small studio but none of them acted upon it other than just casual flirtations thrown around. He was a perfect gentleman and had always been accommodating. A couple of times he would insist on paying her in which she would always refuse to accept.
"The tea you make for me is enough for a payment." She had jokingly said. "Do not worry about it, Robert. Really, it's okay. I'm making enough from my job."
One night, after their sessions, they had too many drinks and bottles were littered over the table along with his paint brushes which had long dried of paint.
"Tell me about you, Marilyn. Mistress of the night, who apparently, slithers like a python." He mused, mentioning her alias. His glossy eyes filled with mirth.
She snorted, took a long swig of beer and swiped the back of her hand across her mouth.
"Marilyn is
Nobody. I'm nobody. I came from somewhere that in my mind, ceased to exist." She stared ahead. "I ran away from home. Who calls it a home anyway?" She laughed humorlessly.
"My parents fought a lot. They spent so much time fighting, they didn't even have time for me. Looking back at it now, I could have just preferred that. But then, they turned their anger towards me." She sniffed and quickly wiped the salty tears before they even slid down to her flushed cheeks.
"I went to my grandparents. They loved me so much and I loved them so dearly. But they were not my parents. Eventually, both of them passed away and I was left on my own. But I was eighteen. I didn't have to go back to my parents. So I went to different cities, finding places where I could feel like I could fit in. Looked for jobs, and then I ended up here. I made friends and I have my own place, but it still never felt like home."
He was quietly staring at her, and the silence was deafening. Then he lifted his free hand to her face and ran the back of his index finger to dry her cheeks. Her hand caught his and brought it to her lips and placed a soft kiss.
"But with you, it feels
different. I like hanging out with you. I like being with you. You feel like home to me, Robert."
Her voice echoed softly as he took his time to reply. But he didn't, instead, he leaned down and sealed his lips against hers.
He layed limply on top of her body as he shuddered from his release. Both tried to desperately catch for their breath as her hand smoothed down his back and the other combed through his damp locks. He slid out of her and dropped beside her, not too long before he enclosed his arms over her and pulled closer. He catches her lips on his in a lazy kiss and smiled.
"You feel like home to me too, Y/N."
Her heart soared and nuzzled her nose against his.
"I want to paint you like this. May I? You are so beautiful. In light and in shadow."
She blushed, "Yes, but right now? I'm tired."
"No, no. We'll do it tomorrow. I'll take you somewhere." His warm breath hit her skin as he whispered.
"Where?" She whispered back.
"Well, I'm not telling you that. But it was what I helped my Father build when I was younger. It's somewhat like a special place for me, and I want you to see it."
He gazed at her as he waited for her to respond.
"Okay."
Under the light of the lamp, she peers at him under her lashes.
"Don't look at me like that."
"Mm? I have no idea what you are talking about."
"You know what it is. Cut it out or I'll never get to finish this."
She huffs. "You're no fun"
"I can prove you otherwise in a few minutes."
He continued to do his finishing touches and leaned back to admire his work.
"That isn't too bad. But nothing compares to the real art."
"And what might that be?"
"You, my love." He stood up, walked over to where she was, placed his hand at the back of her neck and pulled her to him.
"I've been waiting for this for hours."
"I've been giving you hints and you insist on finishing your art."
He chuckled. "Of course I had to."
His fingers danced their way from her sides to her hips, rubbing along the marks littered across her skin.
"Are you ready to see it?" He murmured against her neck. She shudders as she nodded, giving their playful banter a break.
He bit her earlobe softly, "Okay."
He walked over to his canvas and carefully turned it around to face her.
She gasps.

A/N: “Do Ya Think I’m Sexy?” by Rod Stewart is both the best and worst song ever written. I don’t make the rules. I also don’t know how this got so long?
💿
When Niki unlocks the door to your flat he isn't expecting to hear the obnoxiously loud giggles from the other side. You had given him a key to your place shortly after you got engaged. Neither of you had any qualms about moving in with each other before the actual wedding, but you didn't want to give your parents a heart attack. Even so, half your belongings were at his place already.
Opening your front door he sees you and Elena on the couch, whispering and tittering with each other. It takes you a second to notice him standing in the doorway. "Niki! You're home early!"
"Actually," Niki checks his watch, "I'm more than an hour late." He'd had business in the city, so you both planned for him to come by afterwards. That being said, it was going on quarter past 9.
"Oh! Didn't even notice." Both you and Elena snort in laughter, hands flying up to cover your grins. Your exceedingly chipper attitude and flushed cheeks confuse him before he spots the empty wine bottle on the table next to you. Ah - one of those nights. "We were just talking about you!"
"All good things I hope," he says as he takes off his shoes and hangs his coat.
Elena leans in to whisper something conspiratorially to you. Niki is unable to make out what she's said. Based on the reaction and the snickers you give he figures it is something overtly sexual in nature.
She hops up from the couch. "I'd better get going, my sister should be here by now anyway." She leans in to give you a wet kiss on the cheek. On her way to the door she pulls Niki in for a fairly one-sided hug. "Have fun you crazy kids! Don't do anything I wouldn't do!" She tossed over her shoulder, shutting the door.
Niki rifled through the fridge, finding himself ingredients to make a sandwich. "So," he began. "How many glasses have you had?"
"Whyyy do you wanna know?" you drawled out, eyes squinting. The back of the couch makes a good place to rest your chin as you watch him move around the kitchen.
"Because. I want to know how in for it I am tonight." His tone is light, joking even as he looks up at you across the room.
You shrug dramatically. "Just three
 or four, maybe."
"Ah," he nods to himself and picks up his sandwich.
It wasn't often you drank this much, but when you did it was always an interesting time. You had only gotten drunk a handful of times since he'd known you, that is, if you could even call it that; you were definitely cognizant of what you were doing. If anything you were just looser than usual thanks to the help of the liquor. Any other person would likely be blitzed after four glasses; you’d told him it was something about being part Scottish that helped you hold your own. Normally Niki couldn't stand when people drank too much. There was something endearing about you though when you got like this. He should've been beyond annoyed, but instead he always found it rather funny.
"And what did you and Elena talk about before I got home?" Home. He liked the sound of being home with you.
"I may have let slip about a certain...ah
 incident with the Ferrari
" you finish with a large swallow of wine.
You had an incident with the Ferrari? Niki doesn't remember you being around the car without him. His brow furrows. "What incident?"
"You know
" you wiggle your hands back and forth, gesturing between you. A hiccup punctuates the brief silence.
His concern grows at your lack of answer. "If I knew I wouldn't be asking, liebe."
You let out an overdramatic huff. "Niki!” his name drawn out like a whiny child, “Christ I told her about the sex!"
His eyebrows met his hairline. That incident. He wasn't exactly happy with Elena being privy to that aspect of his life but he figures it could be a lot worse. "Which time..?" he mutters offhandedly to himself.
You jump up, nearly tripping on a fallen blanket and almost sloshing your wine on to the carpet. Catching him next to the couch you push your finger to his uneven lips. "It's alrigh’ though it's our little secret, shhh." You even attempted to wink at him.
Niki grunts in lieu of a chuckle. It's going to be one of those nights.
“Oh! I almos’ forgot!” You spin on your heel and head to your record player. "Look what I bought!" You hold up a new album - a mix of recent top hits. Niki busies himself getting comfortable on the couch while you place the record on the player, cranking the volume.
He finishes his dinner while you groove to the music, wine glass dangling from your fingertips. Your singing is decent, despite the wine in your system. Niki is content to let you have your fun, he even recognized some of the songs from the radio station you played in the car. You are a terrible dancer though, he laughs to himself. He supposes he can’t dance much better himself, really.
A new song began; its funky bass line and smooth rhythm exciting. You threw back your head and released a throaty chuckle. Swaying your hips side to side, you saunter over to Niki. He watches as you shimmy your shoulders to the beat; pointing your finger at him as you move. When the chorus begins you sing along in a sultry voice, hands raised to the ceiling, wiggling your hips towards the floor. You give your best attempt at bedroom eyes as you sing and dance for him.
"If you want my body and you think I'm sexy
Come on, sugar, tell me so.”
Niki chews his bottom lip in amusement as you dance. Seeing your glass almost slip from your loose grip, he leans out and plucks it from your fingers. You hardly notice the absence, continuing your performance.
“If you really need me, just reach out and touch me
Come on, honey, tell me so."
Looking at your fiance over your shoulder, you begin to unbutton your shirt, sliding the open collar over your arms to hang on your elbows. The tops of your breasts exposed, you shake your ass to the music in his direction.
Niki rubs his thumb across his mouth to quell his smirk. “What are you doing, schatz?” It took him a few more seconds to break his eyes away from your uncovered skin as he asked.
You hum, “what’s it look like I’m doin’?”
“Like you’re trying to seduce me or some bullshit.” He can’t hide the amusement in his tone.
“Is it workin’?” You don’t stop moving.
Niki will admit you are oddly sexy right now, even with your horrible dancing and overexaggerated singing. Your breasts are nearly falling out of your brassier as you dance and there is a flush to your skin that reminds him of when you make love. But he just cannot get past how utterly ridiculous you look - and what the hell is this song?
"If you want my body and you think I'm sexy
Come on, honey, tell me so.
If you really need me, just reach out and touch me
Come on, sugar, tell me so.”
You pull the sleeves from your arms and toss the garment at him with a waggle of your brows. “Do you Niki? Do you think I’m sexy?”
“Of course.” He licks his lips, deciding to play along with your little game. His resolve not to laugh would soon crack.
“Alright then.” You slide your hands up the skin of your torso. Your legs do little kicks as you walk to the beat, gyrating your pelvis in a circle.
Niki can tell you are getting tired by how your movements slow towards the end of the song. Here comes the crash.
With the last notes of the song you fall into his lap, his arms bracing your descent. You sigh, your breathing labored from the dancing and alcohol. A low hum vibrates in your throat as you make yourself comfortable draped over him. His fingers leave indents where they hold around the bare skin of your waist. “Was it good?” You trail your fingers up his chest and look up at him from under your lashes.
“What, liebe?”
“Are you sedued
 se.. seduced?” you correct.
Niki nods to appease you and your efforts. “Hmm, very much.”
You nuzzle into his neck, his cologne and the scent of motor oil making your head spin. “Good
 think I need you
”
Softly, Niki says “and I think you need to go to bed.” You nod as enthusiastically as you can manage in your current state, understanding him as wanting to take you to bed. He lifts you in his arms bridal style, walking you to the bedroom.
Placing you in bed and pulling the covers to your chin, you don’t have the energy to protest when he doesn't join you. When Niki returns from the bathroom in his own sleepwear not two minutes later you are already snoring. He lets out a gentle chuckle before joining you in bed to sleep.

Just Like You Like It
Song Inspired
George Weasley x Reader
Warnings: Light Smut. A curse word.
Tumblr media
George could tell y/n was stressed, he didn't have to be told. He could see it; he were the first to notice. The way she shut down. How much shorter she'd become with everyone. How the smallest of inconveniences could set her off.
Her hair was constantly a mess from the amount of times her fingers tugged, pulled and ran through it. She gave up wearing make-up to avoid the way it smudged as her hands frequently dug, clawed and rubbed at her face in frustration.
He wondered if she even noticed how cold their relationship had become. The spark between them which raged within their chests as an all comsuming flame; diminished to less than an ember. Still alight but too weak to any longer feel it's warmth.
Though they shared the same bed every night he'd never felt further apart. He missed her. Her new routine left him hanging at a distance.
She'd wake up, shower, get changed and leave. No words spoken. No smile on her face. No kiss good morning or kiss goodbye. The nights were no easier. She'd arrive home late, disappear to the study, then later crawl into bed beside him well past midnight. No conversation. No kiss goodnight.
He could barely remember the last time they'd touched let alone had a meal together. George had been patient hoping this were simply a rough patch, that things would fall back into place eventually. This morning however, was his breaking point.
As he woke to an empty bed, the sound of running water coming from the bathroom just like many mornings before, he reddied himself for work. As he pulled on a fresh suit for the day something caught his ears. A sound which, though muffled, were undeniably caused from distress. He stepped closer to the bathroom, leaning towards the door and listening intently. Sobs and strained breaths cursed the air. George felt his heart be ripped from his chest in that moment. He made to open the door but stopped himself, he weren't even sure how to comfort her anymore. Things were evidently far worse than he feared what if, by barging in on her in this time, he made matters worse unintentionally?
He restrained himself, giving her the space she most likely needed right now, though determined to fix things. It was time. No more waiting for things to sort themselves out.
He sat patiently on the edge of their bed for her to come out, preparing to have the difficult conversation.
Later she emerged, fully clothed for work with eyes still puffy. He stood, words forming on the tip of his tongue, but she wouldn't even look at him. Like he weren't there. Simply grabbing her keys and wallet from off the chest of draws, muttering a lame 'I'll be home late' and leaving as swiftly as she'd entered.
He was too slow. Too hesitant. His brows furrowed, staring after her with parted lips. Dread began to fill his heart, thickly being pumped throughout his bloodstream. How could he fix this?
That evening y/n slowly made her way home, like many before it were well past the time she ought to be arriving home. Her body felt too heavy for her legs to carry. Back aching as did her feet, with shoulders unbelievably tense from several large knots taken root in her muscles. Rubbing at them frustratedly as she walked her eyes shut tight in pain whilst brimming with tears. This was one of the worst times of her life, everything that could go wrong did and it seemed unlikely ever to resolve. With no sign of her ridiculous work load easing. The state of her currently crumpling relationship. Now even her body were turning against her.
She was hungry, not having ate properly in days. Tired, her sleep restless and tormenting. Her head ached continuously and she found herself on the brink of tears or an emotional outburst given any moment.
As her key turned in it's lock she pushed the door open preparing for yet another night spent in the study. Closing her eyes she inhaled sharply, the very thought causing a sickness to settle in her stomach. There was something different about tonight though.
As her lungs filled, she felt herself relax considerably. A content sigh slipping from her lips as she exhaled slowly. Opening her eyes, they travelled over the flat to find her favourite candles were scattered and alight, the flicker of their flames the only source of light within the space. As she stepped across the doors thresholds y/ns breath was stolen from her. Finding not only her favourite candles but countless bunches of her favourite flowers lining the tables and windowsill. Additional flower petals littered the floor, leading like a pathway to the fire escape.
As her head peaked from the window her ears were met with the soft melodic sounds of distance music. Climbing from the windowsill she ascended the staircase. Reaching the top and quietly stepping over the roofs lining y/n was blown away once again. More flowers decorated the space beautifully while a few small candles lit a table at the roofs centre. The music was clearer now, quiet but loud enough for her to recognise. Her favourite slow songs.
A bottle of wine and two glasses sat atop the small table in front of her, her fingers delicately traced the bottles label.
A warmth began to spread through her body from a presence behind her. Two strong hands gently moved over her waist, encapsulating her entirely in an embrace. Y/n gave herself to the hold, leaning back into his chest and relishing in the heat that fanned her skin from his hot breath and the soft trace of his nose against her neck until finally his lips came to connect with her nape. Her arms fell atop of his, where his fingers slowly moved against the fabric of her shirt. She sighed contently, the sound only just audible with the low hum of the music which played.
Her brows furrowed at the feeling of his lips and one arm leaving her body. The light pop of the wine bottles cork and the trickle of liquid filling two glasses, generously, which followed was enough to bring the smile back to her lips and finally she opened her eyes again to accept the beverage before her.
Though one hand still remained attached to her hip George moved to stand in front of her with a sly grin as he clinked their glasses together ceremoniously.
"You've been busy today" she smiled, sipping her wine. "You've been busy everyday." His face was stern at the thought, heart no less heavy as he watched her head fall at his words. The hand on her waist came to cup her chin, bringing her attention back to him. His thumb gently stroked her jaw as he spoke, "Did you think I hadn't noticed?". Tears fell from her eyes. His expression bore so sorrowfully into her soul she felt laid bare. "I'm sorry" "It's not your fault, sweetheart." A soft smile replaced the concern filled expression he wore moments ago, "I just wish you'd give yourself a break. Talk to me if something's the matter."
Her cheek pressed against his palm as he wiped away the stray tears, but more fell as she closed her eyes.
"Come here", George grabbed her glass, setting both drinks down on the table, and lead her away a few paces. He pulled her into his chest, one hand on her waist while the other held hers in a firm grasp. She looked at him confusedly, only causing him to smile cheekily back. That's when he began to lead her in a slow dance. Y/n chuckled at this, unable to help the eye roll and wide smile to stretch upon her face at how cheesey this all now seemed.
Gazing back into his eyes fondly they continued to sway in time with the gentle melody which filled the air. Y/ns cheek rested against Georges chest as his chin laid atop her head. Fresh tears lined her eyes now. Different from the ones before. Tears of love. Pure, unfiltered and all consuming.
They held close together like two shadows in the dark, illuminated solely by candle light. The spark in their chests burning like a flame, lighting the night for them in an entirely other way. Rekindling the love in their hearts that hadn't been felt in so long.
"I can't believe you did all this for me" y/n voiced honestly, unable to see how she was deserving of such a guesture.
"This is for me right? I didn't just spoil some intimate night with your mistress did I?" She joked looking up to him. "Funny." George rolled his eyes at this.
"Love, everything I do is for you." "You're really laying on all the charm tonight aren't you? Wine, candles, dancing..." Y/n quipped, loving every second. "Pouring it on strong and smooth. Just like you like it." He leant down, capturing her lips in a deep kiss.
Arms wrapped around his neck as others rested around her sides. The kiss was broken in pieces as y/n tried to speak but George was reluctant to let her, only a word coming through at a time, he understood her nonetheless, "Where's Fred tonight?" She'd asked. This question successfully putting an end to his neediness for their lips on one anothers. Leaning back with a raised brow, an expression which read 'really?'.
"You know, as inseparable as we are love, I was sort of hoping we could do this without him actually." He chuckled. Y/n rolled her eyes. "He's out. Out of the apartment and out of our way." His lips found hers again while she smiled.
George rested his forehead against hers, "We've got all night long, so tell me what you want." Y/n stood, breathing him in while she thought. A decision made as a smile spread over her features. She licked her lips in anticipation, unable to hide the eagerness in her eyes. Feeling playful, she spoke in a teasingly slow and sultry tone, "What I'd love, more than anything is a nice, long, and hot bath." Georges brow raised along with his signature mischeivous grin. She placed a tender kiss to his lips, which he reciprocated and deepened hungrily.
George nudged her towards the fire escape, signalling for her to head inside and placing a quick playful slap to her ass as she left and he grabbed the wine from the table. With a flick of his wand the candles all extinguished and the music faded to an end.
Steam encompassed the white tiled bathroom as hot water filled the bath tub. Y/n stood at its edge, in only her white singlet and underwear - other clothes already discarded, tying her hair into a messy bun before checking the water weren't too hot. She'd taken a couple candles from the living room and scattered loose flower petals across the waters surface.
George entered quietly, leaning against the door frame, balancing the wine glasses in one hand as the bottle hung low in his other.
His eyes traced her neck, light condensation glistening over her skin. His head tilted, examining the rest of her body with a sigh. She turned, feeling his eyes on her to which she playfully raised an eyebrow. He smiled, running his bottom lip through his teeth before placing the wine by the side of the tub. He held himself straight, towering before her while his eyes fixed directly to her features.
Slowly brushing a stray lock of hair behind her ear then letting his fingers trace down her neck and travelling down slowly between her breasts coming to the end seam of her t-shirt. Both hands gripped the thin material to pull it over her head.
Y/n now reached to undo his tie and unbutton his shirt. Leaving his torso as bare as hers. Fingers toyed with with his belt as the two stared into each others eyes ridding the final items of clothing. Y/n stepped into the water pulling George with her.
A content moan unashamedly voiced as they sank beaneath the water, heat immediately help to soothe her aching body. George sat behind her, running hands delicately across her body. Cupping hand fulls of water to run over her shoulders. The sensation causing her head to fall back into his chest. He took advantage of her position, lightly kissing the crook of her neck as his hands massaged her back then shoulders. Tension melting away with every dedicated and tender movement of his thumbs against her muscles. When the last knot had eased from her shoulders he pulled her into his body completely, laying back so she were beside him cuddling as they had so many times on the sofa.
Though the water surrounding them began to cool, things between them only got hotter. Starting with innocent and loving kisses to her temple and light touches tracing one anothers body, soon both knew they needed more.
Y/n made to straddle him. The kiss starting tenderly, filled with love, but in no time George was sitting upright leaning into her body as they kissed passionately. Hungrily. Y/n grinding slightly against his lap, chest pushed flush against his eliciting a deep growl from her lover.
He wrapped a firm grip around her body, lifting them both from the water and stepping out of the bath. Y/ns hands placed to his cheeks, kissing him feverishly while he made the blind journey to their bed. Y/n chuckled as he dropped them onto the mattress eagerly, soaking the sheets in the process. Their bodies entangled in perfect rhythm. With George paying particular attention to her wants and needs, ones he hadn't met in so long. She was a mess beneath him with every loving and gentle caress of her skin. Every soft whisper in her ear. The way his lips connected with her neck. Exploring her as if it were the last time he'd get to do so. Touching her so delicately as if she were glass figurine. Breathtakingly beautiful, but fragile and likely to break. His pace slow but firm, eyes scrunched tight together while his breaths fell heavy through parted lips. Relishing in the heat that fans his skin as she breathes his name. Pure ecstacy igniting the flame in their hearts further, burning under one anothers touch. Her nails rake his shoulders as they peak together. Arms shaking as he struggles to hold his body from hers. Breathless and heavy above her, his lips capture hers again in a slow and tired kiss.
They lay beside each other in the after glow, comfortable silence encapsulating them. Until George is pulling her from the bed at the talk of dinner, lazily throwing on a singlet and boxers as she pulls on his jumper and a pair of knickers.
He sits her at the dinner table while he reddied the meal he'd prepared earlier not expecting the nights events to unfold as they had but loving it either way.
Y/n sipped a fresh glass of wine contently, unable to wipe the love struck smile from her face. Staring into the deep burgundy which swirled within her glass, deep in thought over the man currently pattering about the kitchen. Reminiscing on the past events, ones from this evening to as far back as when they'd begun dating. Every thought completely occupied by him and him alone.
She was brought to the present by a plate being sat in front of her. Another of her favourites. George placed a gentle kiss to her cheek and whispered into her ear, lips pressing against her soft hair, before taking seat beside her. She bit her lip in attempt to contain the wide grin forming across her features at the words,
"Just like you like it."

Fatgum x reader- Atlas
Fluff + Greek mythology AU.
You were nothing more than a simple human, roaming the built up world to find something new and interesting, something no one could see but you, a secret for you and the universe to hold together. You needed to find something special is what you thought, taking a break at the atlas mountains in the scorching Morroccon sun. sweat bead down your forehead and your skin was hot to the touch but the adventure and experience, the trials to find something undiscovered was worth the peeling skin on your shoulders being soothed by aloe over and over.
Your persistence to find the unknown secret may have started genuinely, you wanted to find what the universe wanted you too, but eventually it gave you a reason to travel the world. You've travelled to 28 countries in 4 years, beginning at 18 and now you're 22, you skipped uni and college, you made money from ad revenue on youtube since your vlogs became popular, and you were incredible when it came to saving money.
Of course, you were still searching, but now you felt like you had even bigger reasons. Exploring the world, drinking in fountains of culture and knowledge, that was perfection enough. But the secret was missing.
You stood up rolling your neck and started your walk up rocky paths of mud and stone to the sandy houses forming a village and your senses lead you to a vendor, golden couscous with colourful, roasted vegetables mixed through smelled amazing and glasses of fresh mint tea lined up for you to drink while eating couscous at the vendors stall. You requested a glass of the tea, sat down, and drank it too quickly, burning your tongue from the hot water. You sucked in sharply and hummed in pain. "Thank you!" you said paying for the drink and continuing to the mountains past the beige buildings with terracotta tile roofs.
You felt like if you walked between the fingers of the mountain grabbing the earth with their hands you would find something unknown. You walked around the spurs peering into the joining point of each interlocked section but none tugged you in, pulled you towards them with mystery.
Apart from one. The sun was on the opposite side so technically there should have been no light, but it seemed perfectly visible to you? Was it a trick of the light? Possibly an illusion? Either way your heart longed to investigate and so you did. You trudged forward kicking a stone out your way and looked at the joining line. "You have to be something right?" you muttered and put your hand between the drack. You drew a triangle, mimicking the shape the spurs made and as quickly as you could blink, the mountain began to shake, not violently, but it trembled like being coerced into sharing it's deepest secrets.
"Okay... mountains don't usually do that" you say with wide eye's as the seam rips apart and balls of moss and rock tumble into a pile on the floor. Was it a doorway for you? Who knew, you didn;t care, whatever it was you were finding out one way or another.
You stepped into the cavern, dripping stalagmites made your head turn in the direction of every 'plop' into the puddle and your hands brushed against the side of the wall for stability and a sense of surrounding. "These feel like bricks?" you whisper in a questioning tone as your eye's begin to adjust to the dark and you found that you were going aimlessly through a long, triangular corridor. The bricks were a muted clay colour with green moss and algae blanketing them, the grout in the walls was black and viridian unidentifiable as something anyone had ever known of.
The terracotta sparsely began to cut into black white and grey granite eventually forming a whole wall as if the bricks had never been there to begin with. The marble was just as unkempt and ruined as the bricks but the walls got wider, further and further away from each other until they opened into a wide, white cavern, glowing and inhumanely clean. In the middle was a statue of a hulking man, holding the sky. He wore no shirt and had a pair of orange shorts on and black sandals, sandals that looked real and hyper-realistic looking shorts that flowed with the draft and skin you could see the detail of every pore in. hold on... fabric made of marble should not flow in the wind and should not be such an even orange no matter how much paint.
You slowly looked up, the chest rising and falling with a huffing breath it had to take, the hands trembled and the lips quivered. The hairs on his leg and arm stuck up with the chill of the wind and his elbows dropped slightly making the sky move. Finally, you dared look at the eye's of the giant, who was looking back at you confused as a bee trying to escape through a shut window. Mustard yellow eye's with sunken bag's looked right back at you and you backed up letting out a girlish scream.
"Hey hey wait!!" he shouted, wishing he could reach out and shake your hand or reach after you to emphasise that he wanted you to stay. "Please! Please don't go. I don't have anyone to talk to, I promise I won't hurt you!" he begged, glancing at your figure backing up and starfishing against a wall like it would absorb you and push you out the other side. "Y-you you're talking! And moving! But you, you're a statue?" you shook your hands in front of you and he laughed lightly. "I'm not a statue, I'm a titan. I'm just a big God to be honest, big God doing his job" he nodded his head at his rhyming ability and you slid down the wall grazing your burnt back. "Don't do that you'll hurt yourself" he said.
You took a deep breath to calm yourself then blew out, another deep breath and blew out, another deep breath then blew out. "Okay. so... what you're like atlas or something? He was... he was a titan right and he just held up the universe forever and that looks like something important like the universe" you pointed at the sphere on his back constantly shifting and changing colours and he made a whiney voice at the back of his throat. "Sorta? I'm Taishiro, nice to meet you" he greeted with a nod and you nodded back glancing again at the exit.
Could you trust him?
One look from him and it wasn't hard to tell he was overjoyed to finally talk to someone so you stood in front of him with your hands on your hips so he could see you while he was looking down. "Should I know who taishiro is, not to sound rude but everyone's heard of atlas, who is taishiro?" you asked biting a nail and the titan nodded understandably, fair enough, you would ask valid questions.
"so like, zeus wanted to do something cool and like "oh look i'm redeemable" se he basically said hey all the titans weren't so bad and just did what dad told them to so they all got freed or whatever but someone still has to hold the sky so they gave me the job" he said in one breath which was impressive to you but he wasn't finished. "which is okay, I don't mind it here but it's boring and lonely and my arms have cramp and God I miss food. And like they just made me a titan, they just chose me off the street after work and were like yo we need a new titan and I thought, hey y'know what i'm a hero, i'd be doing good for the world but i'm bored and hungry" he finished his ramble and you giggled.
You opened a packet of pistachios and a muffin and looked at him. "Can I climb you?" you asked gripping the pistachios in your teeth and pulling the muffin in a travel cup that clipped to your belt. "Sure! Not like you're very heavy to me" he joked and you laughed quietly grabbing the threads of his sandals and pulling yourself up like a climbing wall. "Oh you're so small. It tickles" he laughed. Resisting the urge to twitch and jerk you off his leg. You climbed quickly like the ropes in gym class then when you got to the shorts you pulled yourself up until you rested on his knee, flat as a table.
"Uhh, I think this should be good" you nod and balance cautiously to sit down pulling out the muffin and tapping his knee. "Hey open your mouth" you ask and he does so without question. You throw the muffin like a shot put and he grins, savouring the sweet, chocolatey taste "sorry their human sized" you sigh and shuck the pistachios for yourself, chewing on the green nuts with hundreds of questions buzzing in your head.
"So you were a hero?" you question flicking the pistachio shell into the bowl below you where taishiro's feet stood rooted to the ground. "Mhm. BMI hero: fat gum. I was like 46th, the world thinks I retired, that's what I told them but to me i'm still being a hero" he explained and you hummed agreeingly. "It's pretty hero like to give up everything to hold the weight of the world" you smile up at him and he blushes lightly. "Aw, you sound like one of my old interns. I miss it sometimes though, and I miss talking to people so much, it gets lonely here" a breeze flew past you and he shivered, but didn't lose an ounce of balance on the sphere, it was firmly rooted above him, it could have been suspended for all you knew. "Yeah, I bet, especially since being a hero is a pretty team focused job right?"
He smiled sadly and looked up at the tiny exit. He couldn't fit through doors like that anymore, he was the height of the eiffel tower and with one step he'd crack open the crust of the earth. "Yeah. you sound like you know what your talking about" you smiled tucking your hair behind your ear and shrugged "I do. I went to shiketsu to be a hero but when I left I was like... nah, that ain't my purpose. I wanted to like, find a secret the universe had that no one else knew about so i've been travelling for 4 years and I guess you were the secret right?" you thearised and he agreed happily. "It's cool knowing the universe wanted you to find me!" "heck yeah it is!"
You stayed with taishiro for a few days before having to leave and you had never felt so sad before. It was finally over, you didn't have a reason to travel anymore, you found the secret and had solidified a friendship with him but now you were leaving? Despite the snacks and drinks and stories shared about what you'd seen. You felt guilty leaving him again but he looked overjoyed. "I'll visit soon okay!" you shouted and he nodded "I'll see ya around. Say hey to little red riot for me, and suneater!" he instructed and you saluted exiting the cavern back into the dank corridor.
You kept your eyes trained on the ground until you left the mountain. A shimmering rainbow was directly in front of you and you swiped your hand through it like a cloud of smoke you tried re-directing.
The rainbow fizzled and formed into a human with long white hair and pasty skin, a long sundress with rainbow accents and black eye's. "Hi, (y/n) (y/ln) am I right? Oh I know i'm right don't worry, i'm iris Goddess of the rainbow and a messenger for the Gods of sorts. See I'm here to offer you a fast pass from wherever you are to right here in Morocco, next to our dear friend Tai whenever you please" she said with a smile, arm around your shoulder and walking away from the entrance like a car salesman.
You crossed your arms and raised an eyebrow interested but cautious. "What will it cost me?" you ask bluntly and she laughed, slapping your back lightly. "Your hilarious kid. No it costs you nothing more than a prayer or 2 to me and my dear friend Hermes, see he's the God of travel, he's my partner in this see, and what we'll do is just zip you over here faster than you can think!" she exclaimed. You nodded and thought. A free service from 2 Gods? Were they typically that kind? No not really so...
"Oh I see. Zeus wants a fuck doesn't he" you jeered and the sky's went pale grey, like the colour your skin would go if you;d seen a ghost. Iris choked and looked up. "Um... the God of the sky does take an interest in you, yes." you rolled your eyes and stuck your tongue out at the sky. "Keep it in your pants buddy! I want the fast pass for free or I tell yo wife!!" you bargained, though it was hardly a haggle as the king God, terrified of his wifes wrath, told irish to just give you it for free.
"Thank you! I'll be sure to think of you when I see rainbows from now on, maybe we can have a chat! Oh oh or come see me and Tai some time, he says he gets lonely, you should visit him!" you grinned with a wave and said your address, being transported immediately like cargo from morocco to your home.
You crashed into your bed and huffed grabbing your limbs to make sure you were completely there. "DOES THIS WORK WITH OTHER COUNTRIES!" you shouted to no one in particular, your voice cracking while you spoke and then collapsed into bed, falling into a deep slumber.
A/n: Not gonna lie I really dont like thos chapter. It feels rushed and boring, I think I'll revisit it at somepoint. If you have any feedback feel free to comment!

Weddings and what could’ve been’s // F.W. x F! Reader
Tumblr media
Hi! This is my first ever posted fic, I hope you’ll like it!
PAIRING: Fred Weasley x F! Reader
Genre: Angst
Summary: You’ve been friends with Fred since forever. But what happens when the one you love is not feeling the same and now he’s getting married to the girl he loves. Based off of this song :))
Word count: 2.5k
It was supposed to be a good day. Waking up, getting ready for another day of writing her novel about picturing a certain red head as love interest of her novel. But it all flushed down when she saw a small envelope just sitting there on the table, almost as if it was mocking her. It's been sitting there ever since it arrived yesterday afternoon, not expecting to receive an invitation to the wedding of one person she didn't want to participate in. Fredrick Gideon Weasley. Her best friend since their second year of Hogwarts. It was almost ironic how a simple wedding invitation can break a heart that's already been on the verge of breaking, tears were rolling down her face, not a single sound could've been heard besides her sobs. Her best friend/roommate ran out of her room as soon as she heard her. Not expecting to see her best friend on the floor crying over a single paper, she realises what happened, the one thing she dreaded even though it was only a matter of time before it happened. The way Fred was talking about that girl, she knew that her best friend was in a wait of a permanent broken heart. But now a day later, she decided to throw the invitation in the rubbish, deciding no matter how much she cared about her best friend she knew she wouldn't be able to handle watching him promising himself to someone else for forever. Taking out a bottle of her favourite rose, she pours some of it in a glass and heads back to her room, deciding to forget about her heartbreak by throwing herself into her fictional world where she was the one Fred loved.
Soon, she'll realise that not even wine and her own fictional world would help cure her broken heart. Not when the one she's so in love with decided so pay her a visit, not hearing anything from her in over a week. He wondered if she got the invitation to the wedding, the day he couldn't wait for it to finally happen. The thing is, he's not going to be able to do it, if his soulmate in a form of his best friend isn't there by his side, making sure he doesn't panic like he often happens to do in stressful situations.
Upon hearing knocking on her door, she slowly gets up from her desk, heading to open the door, not expecting to see the person she wanted to see the least, standing in front of her.
Every day they were closer to the day that changes everything for forever. One of them was dreading that day, while the other one couldn't want for it to come any sooner. Soon it was the day of rehearsal dinner or also known as the day before it all goes shit show for her. Everything was ready, her outfit ready for tomorrow. Deciding she wasn't strong enough to make it through the wedding alone, she begged her best friend to go with her, helping her survive with alcohol. The wedding was in the backyard of The Burrow, but it wasn't anything special or near as big as it was Bill's, both Fred and Lillian agreeing it was best to have a smaller intimate wedding with their closest ones there. Apparating a minute away from The Burrow, she walks towards the door, knocking softly before entering the house. Everyone was on their feet, final preparations for tomorrow are being made. Ginny was the first one to notice her, running towards the girl. Brining her in the hug, she laughs. '' Hi Ginny '' they pull away from the hug, Ginny looking at the girl. '' You look gorgeous y/n. I'm still angry at my brother for not marrying you. '' y/n rolls her eyes playfully. '' Stop it, you know we would never work as a couple, plus Lillian is a lovely girl, I'm sure she'll be a good sister-in-law. '' they talked as they walked upstairs heading towards Ginny's room.  What no one knew is that the night of the Yule ball, Fred was ready to confess his dying crush on his best friend, that's why he brought her to the astronomy tower. He had it all planned out  until they were interrupted, and it was all ruined. Fred often wondered if they hadn't been interrupted would've it been her who he was marrying. Would it work out or would it fail and therefore ruin their friendship. George was the only one along with Lee who knew about it. That's why the night before the wedding he found himself sitting in front of the small lake they had behind their house, wondering if Lillian is truly the one he wants to marry. Y/n found him after a few minutes, joining him. '' I knew I'd find you here. '' he said nothing, just kept looking in front of him. '' What's bothering you, Freddie? '' she gently took his hand into hers, brushing her thumb gently across his hand. '' I'm just worried if I'm making a mistake or rushing this. Before tonight, I couldn't been happier waiting for this day to finally come, but now that it's here all my mind seems to do is make me wonder if I'm marrying the wrong girl. Maybe I should just marry you, we've been friends for forever, it wouldn't change much. '' he lets out a small laugh. Letting go off his hand, I grab his face with my hands on both sides of his face. '' Fred I need you to look at me. Do you love Lillian? '' he nods his head. '' I don't think I've ever loved anyone the way I love her. '' a small smile appears in the corner of his mouth. '' Do you see yourself being with her for the rest of your life? Is she the one you want to see growing old with you? '' y/n questions him. Fred waits for a few seconds before answering, with a big smile on his face. '' Yeah, I do. God, why was I even doubting this. This is why I need you by my side, you always know how to get me out of my head. Thank you, love. '' he pulls her into a strong hug. '' Hey, if you need a getaway car tomorrow, me and George will have one prepared and then we can get married. '' she joked, even though there was some half truth in it. '' it's late, I have to go get that beauty sleep for tomorrow so do you. Goodnight Freddie. '' she plants a small kiss on his cheek before apparating herself back to her flat, before crashing down in the middle of living room, bursting into tears of heartbreak. The pieces that weren't shatter from before, had shattered now. There were no pieces left of her heart. The rest of the night she spent in the arms of her best friend, crying herself to sleep.
Tumblr media
It was funny really. The story of how they met, how they became inseparable and how she eventually fell in love with him. The latter didn't come to much of a surprise. How could someone not fall in love with him, when he's the most amazing person she's ever come across. It was their second year in Hogwarts, and she was heading towards the library, deciding to prepare herself for the upcoming Potions exam. Merlin knows how much she dreaded those. It wasn't her fault, most people on her mom's side of family never really knew how to do potions. As she was walking there, someone grabbed her by her arm and started dragging her away with them in a direction of the nearest broom closet. In a second she realised it was one of the Weasley twins. Not even needing to ask why he was in such a hurry, already knowing they caused another trouble. Quickly running inside the broom closet, one of the twins put a hand on her mouth, signalling for her to be quiet. Rolling her eyes, she did as told until we heard Filch and Mrs. Norris passing by. Another minute passed on until he removed his hand from her mouth. '' I'm Fred. '' he introduced himself. '' Y/n '' she shook his hand. '' Care to explain why you dragged me into this dusty broom closet with yourself? '' Fred laughed. '' Had to move you out of the way from Filch or else you'd be in the trouble along with me. '' nodding her head, she left the closet. And that was the beginning of their weird friendship. From participating in the pranks, to making excuses why they're not in the certain classes you shared with them to Fred asking her to go to the Yule Ball with him, leading us to the night they had almost kissed. Somewhere in between she slowly fell for her best friend without intending to. It all felt like a dream. Dancing with her best friend so closely, to sneaking off to the astronomy tower because that night, the stars were shining so bright. Slow dancing in the moonlight, it all felt almost to perfect. Both of them slowly leaning towards each other until they heard a crashing noise, interrupting their intimate moment. It made her realise that it was for the best for them to be just friends, their friendship being worth more than a relationship not knowing how it'll end. Almost as if it was a silent agreement between them, neither of the two brought it up ever again. She would never want to ruin his day, so yes she had agreed to be his second best man, no matter how much it'll hurt to be there so up close seeing it all unfold almost like in a film scene.
Tumblr media
Next morning when she woke up, she felt so exhausted while getting ready. She barely had any energy in her body and she was pretty sure she also had no tears left. Putting on her beautiful dress, she did her makeup and hair. She was ready to stand there next to her best friend, and watch him marry the love of his life, no matter how much the fact that it's not her hurted. It was a beautiful ceremony, he looked so beautiful in his dark blue suit, it really made his hair and eyes stand out a bit more, and don't her started on how beautiful the bride was. Her gown looked straight out of a fairytale. A few tears espaced during the ceremony but when George asked her why is she crying, she brushed it off as happy tears, even though she knew she didn't fool George with that lie. During the reception she mostly stayed at her table, trying to drown her sorrow in the wine and other alcoholic drinks. She watched as her roommate/best friend danced with George along with watching Fred and Lillian dance together like it was only two of them. Molly and Ginny often came and talked to me, but it wasn't long until I couldn't handle it anymore and just drowned the rest of my drink before saying goodbye to everyone, making an excuse saying she unfortunately had to go home and finish her book, her publisher gave her a deadline until tomorrow. The last person left to say goodbye to was Fred. Tapping him on the shoulder, she gives him a smile as he turns around. '' Congratulations Freddie boy once again. But I have to leave now unfortunately, I have a book to finish. '' Before she could even say anything he took her hands and put them around his neck, pulling her closer to him. '' Just this one dance and then I'm setting you free, okay? '' He begged her. Nodding her head, they start slow dancing. '' I'm really proud of you Freddie, you finally found the one you always talked about. Hopefully one day I'm gonna find my prince charming one day. '' she rested her head against his chest, listening to his heartbeat. '' I'm sorry I wasn't the one for you. '' he said, making the tears slowly start pooling in my eyes. '' That's not for you to apologise, we're too good friends for us to work in a relationship. Us not kissing that night of the yule ball was for the best. If we kissed who knows if you'd meet Lillian, your true love. Don''t you worry about me. '' and with that she pulled away from him, placing a small kiss on his cheek before apparating home. Letting him stand there alone, her words sinking in, making him wonder again if he had made a mistake by not letting her know of his feeling that night. But soon his thoughts were brushed away as he felt the lips of his wife on his.
Tumblr media
'' Hello love '' he greets her after she moved aside, letting him in. Pulling her into a hug, he goes into the living room, while she still stands there shocked at her door. Quickly getting rid of her thoughts, she heads over to where he was. '' Hi Freddie, what are you doing here? I didn't expect you to visit. '' she sits down next to him. '' Well it's been over a week since I've last heard from you, so I decided to pay you a visit. She nods her head. '' Yeah, sorry about that. I started working on my novel again and that's all I've focusing on recently. Didn't mean to neglect your need for constant attention. '' she jokes, even though she knew he had his fiancée know to give him attention. Fred rolls his eyes. '' Yeah yeah whatever. Listen I have a question/favour to ask you. '' she furrows her eyebrows. '' Okay, I'm listening. '' taking a deep breath, he begins. '' So as you probably know I proposed to Liliana. Speaking of that, have you received my invitation to the wedding? '' it's been over a month since they got engaged, and yet she still couldn't bare the thought of losing Fred forever. '' Yes I have, it's very beautiful Freddie, I am very happy for the two of you. '' she gives him her best fake smile, not wanting to upset her best friend. '' Thank you, love. My question is, would you like to be my second best man? Along with George of course. I don't think that I would be able to do it without you by my side. Please say yes or at least think about it. It would really mean everything to me. '' This was definitely something she hadn't expect. There goes your plan on not going to the wedding, making an excuse of why she can't make it and get drunk in her room while watching her favourite romcoms. '' Of course Freddie, anything for you. '' those words came out before you even had a chance to think about them.

Power Style - Chapter Seven : The shooting
I wake up before my alarm. I'm way too excited for today. The hard work I put in these last few days is finally going to come to life before my eyes.
I have quite some time before I have to be at the shoot, so I lay in bed for a bit, scrolling on my phone. I go through social media and I obviously see pictures of BTS. It's weird to think that I know them now.
As I head to my kitchen, my phone rings. It's too early for this but I pick up anyway.
« Hello? » I ask, not knowing the number that's calling.
« Hiiii! I'm so excited for today, I couldn't sleep so I figured I'd call you! Fancy some coffee? »
I recognize Hoseok's voice, and it made me realize I completely forgot to add their numbers to my contact list.
« Um.. sure why not! I'm not ready though »
« No problem! I'll give you some time to get ready, and pick you up in.. let's see.. half an hour? »
« Perfect! I'll send you my address »
We hang up and I immediately type in my address while walking to my bathroom. I hop in the shower, and enjoy the hot water waking up my body. I head to my wardrobe, leaving a trail of wet footprints on the floor.
I make my mind up about my outfit rather quickly. I'm going to be standing up all day, so flats for sure. I go for a simple jeans and t-shirt, which is probably what I'll be wearing all week.
Tumblr media
I head back to the bathroom, put on just a bit of makeup to look fresh. While I'm finishing up, Hoseok sends me a text. « Here in 5 »
Just enough time to put my coat on and head out the door.
He jumps in my arms as I get to him. I really love his energy. He's dressed very casually, no makeup on, he obviously knows how today is going to go.
We get in the car, and he talks about how happy he is to do this collaboration. He loves fashion (and it shows) but he really enjoys partnerships, shootings and all that goes with it.
We head to Starbucks, not wanting to think too much about what to drink.
I have a simple latte, so does he.
We sit down for a bit and he asks me about the ideas behind the shoot.
« I love it! It's gonna be so cool! »
I'm glad he likes it! I hope the others feel the same way too.
We head back to the car that drives straight to the shoot.
As soon as we get there, I get into Director mode.
« Ok, Hoseok, let's get your makeup done, we'll then get you dressed and we can start the shoot.»
He gets very professional too, simply nodding at what I say and heads to the makeup station.
I take the opportunity to fix last minute details regarding the visual.
About an hour later everyone is ready to start shooting. We take a few pictures with the first look, and do a part of the video. He changes to his second look and we keep going.
We're all getting hungry at this point, but he stays extremely professional. I can tell thats he's getting tired but he keeps going. He moves the way he's told to, and does what he has to do.
It's 1 pm and we're about to stop for the day. Hoseok is now messing around with the collection, kind of done being serious.
He's walking around with a shoe on his head. It actually looks good.
« Hoseok, could you go back to the set? I wanna try one last thing »
He obeys and starts being serious again.
« No, keep going, put the shoe back on your head. » I indicate to him.
He does as I say, and I tell the photographer to shoot. It looks amazing.
Tumblr media
« Thanks Hoseok, I think we have everything we need. Thanks everyone, let's call it a day! »
I let everyone one go for today, afternoons will be meant for editing the day's pictures. It's the only way we can work this out.
Hoseok is back in his normal clothes now, with a packet of doritos in his hands. He comes towards.
« How did I do? » He asks
« You were amazing Hoseok, thank you for being so professional »
« Please call me Hobi, we're past first-names. »
« Hobi » I smile at him.
« Wanna go for lunch? » He asks enthusiastically
« Yeah sure! I just need to wrap a few things up here. »
I go to my team to give them instructions for the rest of the day. They're meant to send me everything as soon as it's edited.
Hobi and I spend the rest of the day together. We go for lunch then shopping, and we really have a fun time together.
I decide to go home, knowing I still have work to do, and need to rest for tomorrow. We set up a dinner date for after the shooting is over.
I get home and look at the results of today's work. It's perfect. I work for a couple of hours, before going to bed.
While I'm starting to fall asleep, I get a text from Hobi. « By the way! Have fun with Jin tomorrow! 😉 »
I can't help but smile.
I wake up in a hurry. I can't wait for this to be over, I'm exhausted already.
I rush to the set, grabbing some coffee on the way. Jin there already, getting his makeup done. Thank God my team knows what to do.
He sees me walk in, and immediately says
« There she is! WorldWide Cutie Girl! »
« Hi Jin! » I say back, lightly blushing.
« You look beautiful today! »
I thank him with a head bow and get to work.
Everything is already set up from yesterday, we just need to adjust a few lightings.
We start the shoot, and Jin looks very good. I mean, VERY good. The way he looks on picture is so far from his personnality, but I like it. He brings his spark to the shoot as well, joking around and being goofy, but getting the job done nonetheless.
We get through the shoot seamlessly, the different looks all looking great on him.
Tumblr media
I start packing my things up and getting ready to leave when Jin walks towards me.
« Are you leaving? »
« Yes, I have to get home and keep working on the campaign.. We have so much to do in such little time. »
« I see. » His energy is completely different. I feel intimated by him right now. He's taller than me and is standing very close to me. I have to look up to see him. « Could I at least offer you a ride home? » He's looking at me with a look that I can't describe. I think I see anticipation, and maybe lust?
I swallow before answering, feeling a tingling in my stomach « Sure, thank you. »
We sit in the car in silence. I don't get why I'm feeling this way. There's a clear tension in the car, and neither of us can figure out how to break it.
We arrive at my place, I thank him again and head up to my apartment.
I start working again and lose track of time. My intercom rings, bringing me back to the real world. I look at the time. Shit 8pm! Where did the day go? I realize I haven't eaten anything while I walk to my door.
« Who is it? » As I say that, the video turns on, and I see Jin.
« Pizza delivery » he answers.
I'm kind of surprised but I'm not sure if it's in a good or a bad way. I let him up anyway.
I open my door as he comes out of the elevator.
« I hope you don't mind, I figured you were very busy and would enjoy some food. I can give it to you and leave if you want. »
I'm touched by the reason he's here.
« Please don't be silly, come on in. » I move to the side to let him in.
I feel very conscious of my home as he walks in. Tae mentioned that he lives in the fancy part of Seoul, and given BTS's success, his home is probably as luxurious as Tae and Yoongi's.
He walks in and looks around him, setting the pizzas down on the kitchen counter. I don't know how to act. He looks so small in here.
I live in a 50 m2 apartment. The kitchen and living room are both in the same room, but unlike at Tae and Yoongi's place, there's no separation between them. The couch is almost in the kitchen, and I most definitely don't have space for a dining table. I still feel very comfortable in this apartment. It's the first one I've owned by myself, and I've made it my own safe space.
"Your home is lovely" Jin says "It ressembles you" He's now looking at me with a smile.
I can't help but look at the ground. I mumble a "Thank you". I feel ashamed in front of this huge megastar. I'm standing in my little home, wearing my pyjamas. I feel like a little girl, not the Director of his next partnership.
He notices my discomfort. "Are you hungry?" He heads to the kitchen as he speaks, and looks for plates. I go to help him, I'm not sure I want him opening every cabinet.
We head to the couch and start eating. We opened a bottle of wine I had stored in the fridge. We're just siting and talking about a lot of things but nothing personal. I think he feels like I don't want to go there.
As I'm laughing at one of his jokes, I feel his glare on me. My giggling stops slowly as I look down to my almost empty glass. He brushes off a loose strand of hair from my face.
"You are beautiful, Gina" I look up at him as he says those words. He has the same look in his eyes as he did today. I sense the lust now, I'm sure of it.
My stomach starts tightening up, while I keep looking him in the eyes. The only thing I notice right now is the way he's looking at me right now, and our knees barely touching.
He breaks the gaze and stutters "Um..I..um" He clears his throat before going on "I'd better get going, you have a long today tomorrow again"
"Uh yeah sure" I'm still shaken about what just happened. "Thank you for the pizza." I start to stand up as I speak
"My pleasure. No, please stay where you are. I'll let myself out" He takes my hand and kisses it goodbye "You have a good night, Gina"
He's gone. I'm left with my thoughts about this evening. I'm not sure if it's the wine or Jin, but I feel very light.

Hi! First, I absolutely love your writing and your ficlets give me life. I would kill for basically anything from History 2: Crossing the line. Maybe something that happens after the show ends? Could be H/C when one gets busy and the other is sad, could be the volleyball tournament... Basically, I'd be a sucker and enternally grateful for anything!
Slice of Life
“And to think that I ever thought you were a trouble maker.”
Yu Hao turned around and waved. The sports hall wasn’t ablaze with light so he had trouble reading Zi Xuan’s face but he could make out a tiny little smile and the tight feeling in his gut got better. It didn’t disappear completely. It was a constant ache in his chest for the last couple of days and he had no idea how to change that.
“You’re here to revel in memories?”
“They want to demolish the sports hall and built a new one for the school,” Yu Hao responded and raised his shoulders as if he wanted to hide. He felt a lot like hiding lately.
“Yeah. Cheng En told me.”
Yu Hao sighed. It was weird. They hadn’t been in there since his graduation ceremony but the thought of it disappearing or even just changing hurt.
Zi Xuan came closer and put an arm around his shoulder.
“Some good things happened in his hall,” he said and Yu Hao snorted. “Just some?” He got his cheek pinched for his quip and hid his face against Zi Xuan’s throat. Why was he on the verge of crying? It was just a building, right?
“You okay?” Zi Xuan rubbed soothing circles in his back and Yu Hao forced himself to laugh.
“Of course. But why are class reunions so exhausting? Who allowed Cheng En to bring his horde of children?”
Zi Xuan threw his head back, laughing, and kissed the tip of Yu Hao’s ear. “Xiao Xiao is pregnant again you know.”
“Ugh.”
“You’re just annoyed with them because they remind you of yourself. Wild but sweet inside.”
Yu Hao made a shocked sound.
“Don’t say that about me ever again!” He play-struggled a bit to get out of Zi Xuan’s arms but in the end, they were pressed against each other even tighter.
“You really okay?” Zi Xuan was observant, always had been and the words were already on his tongue ready to be spoken but
would he be eloquent enough to voice them? Did he even want to voice them?
“Of course,” he said and something twisted inside him. He kissed Zi Xuan because it was always a good idea to kiss him. He would cradle Yu Hao’s face in his hands and make him feel safe and his mind blank.
“I’m alright, just a bit nostalgic. We should go back to the party.” Instead of an answer, Zi Xuan took off his glasses and kissed Yu Hao back in a way that left his legs shaking. He dug his fingers into Zi Xuan’s hip to hold onto something steady.
“We could stay here,” Yu Hao said while he tried to catch his breath and Zi Xuan’s smile grew a little wicked.
“With Xiao Xiao and Cheng En around who have a six sense when we touch each other for too long?”
“I don’t care about them,” Yu Hao declared but felt the blush warming his face. He rolled his eyes at Zi Xuan amused huff and took his hand to drag him out of the hall with him.
+++
Zi Xuan slept on his back most of the times. They had found a pillow he could put under his bad knee to relieve some pressure and it helped when Zi Xuan knew he had to stand or walk a lot the next day.
Yu Hao turned and looked at the clock on his nightstand. 3.42 am. Another sleepless night. He wasn’t sure how much longer he could function on two hours sleep at night, constant worry, and power naps during his lunch break. He took his phone in his hand, looked at Zi Xuan to make sure that he was still sleeping and lowered the screen brightness. The forums weren’t really helpful. They raised his anxiety instead of lessening his fear. But he couldn’t stop reading through the comments. Some of them were wildly misinformed, some so heartbreaking he got tears in his eyes, and some really uplifting and hopeful. He sighed, put his phone away and stared at Zi Xuan’s profile. He had to strain his ear to hear him breathe. He slipped closer and laid his head on Zi Xuan’s chest. Zi Xuan moved and put his arm around him, murmuring something. Yu Hao was afraid to close his eyes so he stared into the darkness while he listened to Zi Xuan’s heartbeat.
+++
The turtle throned atop the microwave overseeing their tiny kitchen. Yu Hao felt its solemn gaze and stared back. He heard Zi Xuan rummaging around but was mostly interested in the toast in front of him and not falling asleep on their kitchen table.
“Are you going to tell me what’s going on with you? Or not?”
Yu Hao nodded out of habit but frowned after a moment. He wasn’t sure what Zi Xuan had said. His head was wrapped up in cotton candy.
“What do you mean?”
“You stare at me when you think I’m sleeping, the dark rings under your eyes are frightening and you avoid looking at me.”
Yu Hao who had stared at the cup of tea looked up quickly. Zi Xuan didn’t sound angry. But he never really did. He got intense and quiet. He seemed like someone who was easy to discuss with, someone who was reasonable. He was. But he was also the most stubborn person Yu Hao knew. He leaned against the kitchen counter, his arms crossed in front of his chest. He had effectively blocked Yu Hao’s escape route with his body.
He opened his mouth but closed it a second later. How should he even begin?
“I’m just
 a bit worried?”
“About what?”
Yu Hao shrugged then gesticulated wildly with his hands because his words seemed so stupid.
“The knee operation you want to undergo?”
Had Zi Xuan forgotten what he had said to Yu Hao a few weeks ago? As if he had just told him what they would it for dinner?
Zi Xuan took a sip of his tea.
“What is there to worry about?”
Yu Hao stared at his boyfriend in disbelief.
“It’s an eight-hour operation for starters! It
” He got interrupted by Zi Xuan’s phone. It was time for him to go to university if he didn’t want to be late. Zi Xuan put the teacup in the sink.
“It will improve my quality of life and it shouldn’t be too bad to have a few more positions we can try out, right?”
Yu Hao was just able to stare at him. Zi Xuan went to their tiny entry hall to slip into his shoes and jacket and waved goodbye at him. The door closed behind him with a silent and soft click.
What
 What?
+++
Yu Hao tried to open the door with his backpack under his one arm and his phone between his ear and shoulder.
“Yes, mum,” he said for the tenth time and rolled his eyes at her and his inability to sound like a grown-up.
He stumbled inside the flat, got rid of his backpack and shoes and peeked inside their living room. Zi Xuan was sitting on the couch with his bad leg propped up on a chair. Yu Hao felt the familiar twist in his belly. He absentmindedly said “Yes, mum,” and Zi Xuan turned his head his way. He smiled and relief flooded Yu Hao. Then he mouthed “Mothers boy” and Yu Hao flipped him off.
It was weird how his mother sometimes knew when to call. As if she felt that something was eating Yu Hao from the inside. She didn’t ask what was bothering him, she just lectured him about being a good partner and wouldn’t let him get a word in edgewise. He was able to convince her that he still took good care of Zi Xuan, that they ate enough and didn’t overwork themselves. He put the phone on the kitchen counter and took a pack of cooling bags out of their freezer compartment.
He went into the living room and took a deep breath. Zi Xuan just looked up at him.
“It’s an eight-hour operation. And you just threw the information in my face in passing and I know it’s not my place to decide if you should do it, and I know I shouldn’t make this about myself, but I’m worried. And I have the feeling I have nothing to say in it. Which I shouldn’t have, because it’s your decision but
 I’m worried!”
He took another deep breath, stomped closer, lifted Zi Xuan’s leg so he could sit on the chair and laid it back on his thigh. He felt Zi Xuan’s eyes on him and risked a look. Zi Xuan’s face was unreadable. The twisting feeling got worse. He put the ice pack on the floor and started to massage Zi Xuan’s knee. He looked up again after a few moments. Zi Xuan smiled at him. He sighed in relief.
Zi Xuan rested his head back and closed his eyes. Yu Hao knew how to massage Zi Xuan’s leg with pressure but without pain. He was proud of it.
“I don’t want to do it because of volleyball,” Zi Xuan said suddenly and Yu Hao stopped. He put the ice pack on Zi Xuan’s knee to soothe it.
“I had the feeling you would think I want to do it because of volleyball, but I don’t. That part is over and I made my peace with it.”
“Okay.”
“Okay?”
“Yeah. Why shouldn’t I believe you?”
“Maybe because I didn’t believe myself until now.”
Yu Hao looked up but Zi Xuan had his eyes still closed. Yu Hao knew that the decision for the operation wasn’t a rash one. Zi Xuan thought things through. Almost obsessively. Which was nice sometimes, like the apartment-hunt. Zi Xuan had had a spreadsheet about what they wanted, what they didn’t want and what they could afford. Which was funny because Yu Hao had no idea how Zi Xuan got his hands on his financial record. Sometimes it was frustrating because he wanted to be there for Zi Xuan, wanted to share the burden.
“The operation is not something I need in the immediate future. It’s a possibility if things get worse. It’s about improving my quality of life.”
“You would need physical therapy afterwards, right?”
“Yes. Maybe I have to wear a brace for some time
 maybe use a wheelchair.”
Yu Hao heard the slight hitch in Zi Xuan’s voice.
“You don’t want a wheelchair?”
“When I’m older I guess it will be no longer about what I want but what I need.”
“So you’ll maybe need one, I wouldn’t mind.” He felt Zi Xuan’s gaze and slapped himself mentally against the head.
“Obviously I shouldn’t be so flippant about it and maybe it wouldn’t be an easy adjustment but I still think it would be fine.”
He didn’t mind. He didn’t mind massaging Zi Xuan’s leg or that they have to be slower on some days. That hiking wasn’t an option or running together. He watched youtube videos about the right massage technique so he wouldn’t hurt Zi Xuan unintentionally and he wouldn’t mind starting to save so they could afford a wheelchair friendly house one day.
“In sickness and in health,” Zi Xuan said and Yu Hao nodded.
He looked up and blushed.
Zi Xuan laughed at him, silently with his eyes and face and Yu Hao lifted his chin. “Just so you know, I already confessed my feelings first, you’re the one who has to propose.”
“Oh, is that so?”
Yu Hao pinched him in his upper leg. “It is!”
Zi Xuan just grinned and leaned back again. “Good to know.”
“Good to know my ass,” Yu Hao mumbled but continued to massage Zi Xuan’s leg. His insides were a mass of butterflies and he fought the grin which wanted to take over his face.
Nevertheless, there was still a nagging feeling in the back of his thoughts.
+++
“You’re staring at me again,” Zi Xuan whispered and Yu Hao took it as permission to move closer.
“I want to know something,” he said and took a deep breath. Maybe it alarmed Zi Xuan because he opened his eyes and frowned at him.
“What is it?”
Yu Hao was relieved that it was dark in their bedroom. That he could feel his flushed cheeks but Zi Xuan couldn’t see them. He felt braver in this quiet space.
“You really think I’m uncomfortable with
” He wanted to slap himself because he wanted to hide beneath the blanket. He took another deep breath. “You really think I’m uncomfortable with how we have sex?” Zi Xuan turned to him and Yu Hao wanted to see his face but also never wanted to face him again.
“It kind of limits the positions, don’t you think?”
Yu Hao was able to hold still for a moment but then had to groan and hide his face under his pillow. Zi Xuan patted him on the back. He loved having sex with Zi Xuan! They had a great sex life, Yu Hao was often enough the one who initiated stuff but sometimes. Sometimes it was hard talking about it.
He decided to just act, rolled Zi Xuan back on his back and straddled him. Zi Xuan’s hands found their way on either side of his hips, slipping under his shirt to caress the skin beneath it. Yu Hao felt the tingles in his stomach. A known response to Zi Xuan’s touch.
“You think I don’t like this position, right?”
“This position? I can’t see clearly, you know, my eyesight
”
Yu Hao huffed. Zi Xuan laughed but embraced him tightly as Yu Hao bent down to rub his nose against his.
“Better?” Zi Xuan smiled against his lips. Yu Hao kissed him. Short. A soft little peck. He kissed his nose next, one eyebrow, back to his lips. He felt Zi Xuan’s growing erection under his butt and wiggled teasingly.
“I like every position,” he murmured. “I don’t have a list what I want to try or what I never again want to do because everything up to now was perfect.”
“You’re perfect,” Zi Xuan replied and Yu Hao straightened up with a loud groan. His blush warmed his face.
“Stop saying stuff like that!”
“Then stop being cute.”
“I’m not cute!”
He bent down again to make Zi Xuan shut up with his lips.

=====
à«źÉŠÎ±ÏÆÎ”à«š 2: ∂σàč€ÉłÉ  αℓ૚àč€É ÉŠÆ
Waking up earlier before the sun is always a surreal experience. Consistently, you're awake before Deaky. You would occasionally pull out your sketchbook and draw out the view by outside of your flat when the sun starts peeking.
You were a major in arts and design, as you also loved working with colors. It was painful to not encounter your best friend much often in class since he studied in electrical engineering, knowing that you won't do well with it.
Pouring yourself a cup of tea, you set it by your table in front of your bed, which was right by a window capturing the usual view.
You flip through the pages of your sketchbook, contently observing each work that you have done. You get to the recent page, and it made you tug a small smile.
It was a drawing of you and Deaky sitting on a bench, looking at the stars. You bit your bottom lip gently, doubting that the scenario will ever happen.
Out of every sketch you've done, you never showed him that.
Softly sighing, you shook your head and flipped to a new blank page and roughly sketched the street.
Some time passed, the sun has finally come to say hi, and you hear John yawning which made you look back at the sight of him stretching his whole body. "Morning, Deaks." You smiled at him, finished with your sketch, as you closed the book. You stood up to help him get rid of his sleepy phase.
He nodded as he has a soft grin on his face, standing up carefully to hug you. Taken aback, you gave in and buried your face in his chest, the smile never leaving your faces. Even though he was shirtless, your cheeks warmed up red but John never suspected it. His hearty sigh made you a soft mess, as he rested his chin on your head.
Later it felt like a good 2 minutes or so, both of you parted away and smiled stupidly at each other.
"That felt nice... thanks for the booster, Y/N." He ruffled your H/C hair which made you pout. Your eyes follow him to the small kitchen as he pulled out 2 pairs of bread to toast. "I suppose you haven't took breakfast yet?" You shook your head no, arms crossed. "I wouldn't risk burning the flat down even if we're already moving to Freddie's." You sat back down on the seat you've previously taken. You didn't do well on cooking, but there's always a place for practice. Deaky chuckled, finally finished preparing the meal.
He placed two glasses of water and the plate of cheese on toast by your table and grabbed a piece. You followed and did the same. The two of you were discussing about when will you pack and move to Freddie's flat, along with some various topics as well.
After completing your breakfast, you stood up and took the plate and glasses to the sink to wash it. This time, John followed, resting his hand on the counter as he watched you. Without hesitation he began, "Have you ever fancied someone yet?" his tone was timid, and his eyes were focused on the floor now.
The question caught you off guard, which made you space out for a second. You finish washing the dishes, you turned off the faucet and turned to face him.
"I'm sorry, B, I shouldn't have asked–"
"No, no, Deaks, it's okay..."
Gently, you brought your hand up to trace his jawline to his chin, using your index and middle finger before tilting his head to have him focus on you. Your cheeks once again got heated up, from both his flustered expression and his bare look. The silence went on for a few moments.
You whispered sincerely, "...I'm not seeing anyone else at the moment.."
Deaky nods while he's lost in your E/C orbs, suddenly caressing your cheek. By every second, the two of you inch closer, lips nearly connecting.
But before you knew it, the telephone from the bedside table rang which made the both of you turned your heads towards the alarming object.
"Maybe another time we can... discuss this, John. I'll go get the phone." You anxiously bit your lip, rushing to answer it.
He sighed and closed his eyes in relief, nodding with a small hum as he pursed his lips.
Your fingers met playing with the cord, as you answer, "Hello, this is Y/N."
"Hey there darling! It's Freddie, I was just wondering when will you and Deaky are coming here."
"Oh! Um," You stalled and looked at your best friend to ask when. Making eye contact, he quickly inspected the wall clock, reading 6:58 AM.
"Tell him that we'll go at 7:30, we still have to pack, right?" You replied with a nod, passing the message to the lead singer. On the other side of the line he agreed and bid farewell, you did the same.
Deaky threw a shirt with a brown leather jacket on, he had already brought out your and his bags, also packing his own clothes together with other necessities. You followed and eventually complete the task.
Taking a glance at the clock again, it reads 7:25 AM.
With your friend wearing his bag and his instrument case, you made sure the two of you are ready to go.
The walk to the flat was only 5 minutes away.
"Have you written your first song yet?" You try to break the tension. John shook his head no with a small 'mm-mm', "Still haven't thought about it... How about you?"
You shook your head no too. "I don't have a single idea for it. Maybe someday, we both will..." He agreed.
Finally arriving at the destination, you gently knock the wooden door and it had opened by itself to reveal the magnificent Freddie Mercury.
Flashing a grin, he greeted, "There you are two! Come on in, dears, I'll show you 'round." You and Deaky smiled back as you set your feet inside his neat, welcoming flat. It was only the three of you present, no Roger or Brian just yet. After it had been a moment, you have gotten to the spare room.
"This is the only vacant room I have, so darlings I hope you can agree to share the bed." Freddie teased as you all went inside, which resulting John to blush, unable to protest. Luckily you immediately confirmed, "We'll manage, Freddie! Don't pinch on our noses like that!" The singer finally went off to mind his own business, leaving the two of you with a cocky smirk.
Completing several minutes of unpacking, you flop down on the nice, fluffy bed, which made your body bounce a bit. Your friend finished a minute late, though he asked, "Do you want me to ask him when are the other two coming over?" Thankful for his politeness, you nod your head yes with a small smile plastered on your face.
A few seconds passed and he came back in, he announced "They'll be here at dinner onwards." You replied with a hum, adjusting yourself in bed. The time on the clock caught your eye, which read 7:42. "Don't you wanna lie down and rest? We did woke up real early..." You suggested, now lying on your side.
"Actually yeah, I'd love to." He removed his jacket and switched to a more comfortable attire before joining in with you. The size of the bed was perfect and had enough room to possibly cuddle.
With the weird tension flaming up again, Deaky shyly asked,
"Are you okay with cuddles, Y/N...?"
Your eyes widened yet answered with a gentle, quiet tone, "Of course the hell I am! How on earth I wouldn't love 'em?" He happily laughs, wrapping his arms around you and holding you close. You did the same as you buried your face in his chest and giggled.
This was the first time you two slept together in one bed since 17 years.
Your eyes got heavier, though you let yourself fall to sleep. John was still awake, playing with your hair carefully. Later on, he whispered his thoughts out loud, but not loud enough to wake you up.
"I really wish you're mine and I'm yours, B. But I'm just a coward to tell you..."
"You're precious, you mean so much to me..."
"...That's why I love you so much. I mean it."
He continued fiddling with your H/C locks, as his mood was blue.
Suddenly the room's door creaked open, revealing a curious, yet concerned Freddie. "Is she asleep?"
Deaky nods, pursing his lips, keeping his eye fixated on you.
Freddie sneaks quietly over to him, "Do you love her?" He nods again with a hum. "You should tell her someday." John sighs, "If only I can..."
"She loves you, dear. Believe me, John."

surprise [louis tomlinson]
Tumblr media
surprise
[fandom] one direction
[pairing] louis tomlinson x oc
[a/n] this was originally written over two years ago, so it takes place before the rest of the boys disbanded and also before Freddie was born. future writings and stories about Louis will definitely include his son
“Are you absolutely, positively, one hundred percent sure you can’t make it?” A slightly nervous chuckle sounded from the other end of the line, ringing through the speaker of the phone. His voice carried from his end to mine. It was filled with guilt, but he tried making the tone of voice light as he mocked me.
“Yes I am absolutely, positively, one hundred percent sure I won’t be able to make it.” I groaned, falling back on the mattress and facing the ceiling.
“Alright. Have fun.” I sighed and leaned my head back against the headboard, glancing around the bed and toward the place that would remain empty until after break.
“Don’t fret over it, you need to have fun.” He told me from the other side. He sounded so distant, being in another country and all. His voice sounded as if it was fading the longer our conversation ran on. “I love you.”
“Love you too.” I mumbled into the speaker, removing the phone from my ear and pressing the end button.
—
A blanket was wrapped around me as I sat in an armchair beside the flat’s heater, curled up in a snug ball. The snow had begun to fall a few hours ago, and the lightweight was slowly turning the individual snowflakes into clumped bunches of ice. They got through the screens, sticking to the glass of the large windows and sliding down the panels. The clouds were a faded grey, and they just kept dropping flakes of frozen water from the top, acting as a barrier to the unaffected part of the sky. I could hear the cold wind howling outside as it whipped at the bare trees and moved snow around, covering the city in a blanket of white.
I brought my gaze back toward the television, watching reruns of holiday movies that had been playing for the past month. Joyous songs were playing in the background, and I had yet to figure whether it was coming from the neighbors or behind the noise of the characters on screen. I reached over toward the coffee table, grabbing one of two mugs of hot tea before thinking and placing it back on the wooden surface. I stood, grabbing the second mug and heading toward the kitchen area. I sighed, placing the hot drink in the microwave to keep it warm and quickly going back into my earlier position, bringing my knees up onto the chair.
He’d been gone a good week or two now, and even though we kept in touch every day, it still felt empty. Usually around this time, we would be having the dumbest argument over taking down the Christmas tree that still stood proudly in the corner. He always wanted to keep it up the whole winter to keep us in the spirit of the season. We would still be doing all the other classic holiday traditions because we enjoyed the films, music and treats. There would be flour, icing and sprinkles covering the countertops and our faces. He would stare at me oddly whenever I entered ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas’ into the DVD player before joining me on the couch, still never getting the point of the movie. I tried to explain to him every year on both Halloween and Christmas, but he would shrug it off and enjoy the songs and how weirdly scary the characters looked.
A buzzing came from the table in front of me, and I looked away from the movie to see that my phone had received a message. I reached for it, grabbing the device and sliding in the passcode. I smiled a little at the incoming message, reading a short paragraph on how sorry he still was for not being able to make it home in time. I’ve had to shrug it all off for the past hour he’d been apologizing, finding it a bit silly for either of us to feel any sort of sadness. We were still able to talk today, and that was enough for me.
He ended up calling, saying how he missed my voice after not hearing it for days. I agreed with it, even though most of me was still sucked into the wonder that was holiday films and the songs that came with it. I partially listened to his own voice as I kept my eyes on the moving pictures set above the fake fireplace. I glanced at the object before bringing my gaze back to the movie; it was fake because we were on the third floor and couldn’t possibly get a chimney, so he got a virtual fire that still radiated the warmth we wanted.
We were still on the phone as I continued to watch and rewatch all the amazing films, not being able to look away when certain parts came into play. I could barely hear him calling me with how engrossed into the movies I'd become.
“Babe.. Babe?”
It took a few seconds to realize before I replied, “Yeah?”
“Are you alright?”
I let out a chuckle and brought part of my focus back on what was happening. “I’m alright, love. Just watching something.” There was silence on the other end for a short of a moment, and I somehow knew he was nodding his head as if we were right beside each other.
“Which one?” His tone was turning more cheery by the second, and I couldn’t help but smile more at the question.
“The Santa Clause.” I stretched over for the remote on the other couch, and opened up the guide for the channel. “All of them - it’s a marathon.”
He sighed on the other end of the line, and it made me giggle hearing him whine. “I’m missing The Santa Clause? Can you record it?”
“I would, but honestly Louis, I still have no clue how to handle this remote or the setbox aside from switching channels.” He laughed that childish, melodious laugh and I rolled my eyes. It wasn’t my fault he never let me near the thing when he was set on watching soccer, cartoons, or himself. (It was weirdly adorable. He just enjoyed watching the talk shows, like Ellen Degeneres, because the boys always did or said something stupid.)
“It isn’t funny!”
“It’s a little funny, sweetheart.” I huffed a breath and curled up in the blanket even more, setting down the cup of tea that was still hot enough to keep me warm and grabbing for a pillow.
“How is it that even when you’re thousands of miles away, you start bantering with me?” At first I thought I had done the wrong thing in mentioning how we weren’t even in the same country, but he sounded fine with it.
“I live to banter with you, sweetheart. It’s what drives me.”
I let out an embarrassing snort, causing him to go into a fit of chuckles. “Of course it is. Nice to know you’re only keeping me around for laughs.”
“Oh, not only for the laughs, love. Also for the food and cuddles.” I laughed and shook my head. It was just like him to carry on more jokes from another.
“Great.” I sarcastically snorted out, glancing at the clock on the wall. 6:28 PM. There was a still a ways to go until midnight, but he wouldn’t be here to really make the transition into the new year special. I threw my head back against the seat and groaned.
He responded instantly. “What’s the matter?”
“Nothing. It isn’t like my boyfriend is across the ocean, a thousand miles away.” My eyes widened once I realized I switched the mood of the conversation completely. I wanted to apologize, but was there really a reason to? “I -”
He sighed, speaking into the microphone of his phone. He changed the subject. “What's happening?” It took a bit to realize he was talking about the movie, before I resisted the urge to sigh myself.
“He just found out the North Pole was real, and Charlie went off with Bernard while Scott took the chance to look around the place. So he's still having a hard time believing he's Santa Claus.”
It was his turn to snort, which returned the mood to what it was before. I rolled my eyes but stayed silent. “Of course he is. Would you believe you were a jolly, old man with a white beard and flying reindeer who could deliver presents in one night?”
I smiled a little. “Of course not - I'm a girl.” He laughed. “I would believe it if you were that jolly, old man and I was that man's wife.”
I could feel him shaking his head and the smile on my face grew wider. “Well who else would you be, love?” I finally let the sigh out, but this time it was one of content. He sensed it, and let out a chuckle knowing he would get an earful about marriage when he returned.
We spent the next couple of hours talking. I continued to narrate the movie for him, he would bring in his commentary, and it moved into the second film of the trilogy. I ended up taking the pillow and moving myself onto the elongated couch.  It was much more comfortable and my body could stretch out. As we talked, it sounded as if he was just getting further and further away. The character's voices and the music were fading, and the pictures on the screen were turning dark.
—
I wasn’t sure how long it had been, but it occurred to me that at one point or another I fell asleep. I kept my eyes closed, still groggy, but listened in. My boyfriend had hung up on the other end after realizing I wasn’t awake anymore, there was now a stronger wind building up outside, and the film voices were nowhere to be heard. I felt something heavy against me; it was made out of some sort of cloth. That was when I opened my eyes.
As I looked around, I slowly started piecing together what was different. A thick, patterned blanket was set on top of me. The television was shut off and the cup of tea that was set on the table was gone. My eyebrows furrowed as I took in the rest of the flat. Is he...? I shook my head lightly. There was no way he was home this early. Surely he would have called me. I decided to stay on the possible fact that maybe I was just too tired earlier to remember that I had turned everything off and finished my drink.
Then I heard a voice. “I guess our song was right- you really can’t go to bed without a cup of tea, can you?”
My head whipped toward my left. In an instant and without warning, I threw the blanket off and jumped to my feet, tackling the figure in a hug that nearly toppled over the chair he was in. His harmonious laugh echoed throughout the flat as his arms wrapped around my waist and held me tight.
“What are you doing here?!” I let my arms loosen from around his neck and backed away to sit on the coffee table, giggling once he pulled me back and into his lap.
“I couldn't possibly let you find another guy to kiss tonight.”
“Right, because it wasn't like I stayed around the apartment all day.”
“You mean the flat?” He raised an eyebrow at me, shaking his head as he continued, "You Americans and your weird words.” He stated jokingly, a wide set grin on his face.
We stayed like that for the rest of the time - chatting about our holiday in both countries and what had been going on. He was on about how much him and the boys missed their friends, families and/or girlfriends. I rolled my eyes when he winked at the mention of the word. He said they all flew out early, which meant he had been in a wide visiting range the past few days.
I gaped before punching him in the shoulder. He flinched and immediately removed one arm from around me to hold it. “What was that for?”
“I thought you were in America this whole past week, you git!” I huffed, crossing my arms and looking at him.
“Well I apologize for wanting to surprise my girlfriend. I promise not to do it again.” The corner of his lip twitched into a smirk, and mine cracked a smile.
“I hope you realize that if my birthday surprise is anything but, I'll personally see to it that you sleep on the couch for the rest of that following week.”
“Oh well that just seems a bit cruel, doesn't it?” We both grinned at each other, spending the last few minutes of this year shoving and making jokes toward one another. It felt amazing to have him back for this holiday after having to spend the one before talking through a video screen. That year I had actually spent with the girlfriends of some of the other boys (my two favorable cousins and our mutual friend who they introduced me to). We made our boyfriends agree to a pact that if they were ever away, both groups would meet up and we'd video chat. It was actually more fun than it sounds.
A song from the band's very first album sounded from the table. I looked over to see my cellphone bouncing about the polished wood and nearing the edge. I got out of Louis’ grasp, ignoring his whine as I reached over and checked the time before shutting off the alarm. 11:55 PM. He looked at me with a raised eyebrow.
I shrugged, “I just wanted to talk with you for a bit before midnight. We weren't together together last time so..” I trailed off, glancing toward the balcony window.
I gasped in excitement and turned my whole body around to face it. I skipped over after realizing that the frost on the window had disappeared, allowing me to see through it. It meant the moon snuck it's way out of the clouds, and was shining bright as flakes still continued to fall. I didn't think or bother to grab a coat as I pulled open the sliding floor. I was near to stepping out when he grabbed my wrist.
“And where do you think you're going?”
I pointed lamely toward the snowy wonderland, “Outside.”
He shook his head and took my hand, “It's nearly midnight. It might as well be below zero.”
He intertwined our hands, lacing our fingers together and looking down at me with a sweet smile. I glanced up at him, a small grin settling on my face before fully acknowledging his concern and giving a firm nod. A chuckle escaped his through his parted lips and he leaned his head down, catching me in mid giggle and embracing my own mouth with a sweet kiss.

Okay, I got it wrong. I thought it was mashup between prompt and a pairing. I'd like to correct my request. Green eyed epiphany+ poorly timed confessions, please. Love you ❀
This is for johnlock, as you said in your other ask, and BLESS!!, bc those dingdongs are all about jealousy and poorly timed confessions, damn.
Sherlock won’t stop waxing poetic about fucking murderers-- ok, one murderer in particular --and it’s driving John to the brink.
It’s always been about the cases; he knows that well enough. But this isn’t just cases. It isn’t facts and deductions and solving it. This is about one man. One man and many murders and a puzzle that makes Sherlock forget not only when John’s not in the room, but that he would be there at all.
John wakes to Sherlock sitting cross-legged on his bedroom floor. It’s 4am and he almost reaches for his gun before he realizes it’s his flatmate. He’s on his phone and the door is open, light spilling in from the staircase over a sprawling pile of papers. When John flicks the light on, Sherlock flinches for a moment like a creature discovered.
“Oh,” he says, blinking and shaking his head as if to clear it. He looks back down at his papers as if that’s all he needs to say about being in John’s room, and when John asks him what’s happening he brushes it off. “I thought you were out,” he says, speed-reading a bit of a paper on serial killers before setting it aside. John clenches his hand into a fist at his side and throws himself back into bed, flicking his light off and pretending to want to fall back to sleep.
As Sherlock obsesses over the murderer, John grows more and more frustrated. He finds himself on tinder, swiping til he can find a woman who’ll meet him that night for a date. He brings her back to the flat, not acknowledging the fact that all he wants is for Sherlock to flay her open verbally so that she’ll run away and John can heave a put-upon sigh before complaining about Sherlock ruining his love life.
Of course he does no such thing. No. Instead he ignores John leaving, ignores John stumbling up the stairs with her, ignores the two of them in the kitchen, John pouring her two fingers of scotch from the bottle they keep in the cupboard. He presses her against the fridge and kisses her neck til she starts moaning, letting her rut against his leg in the hopes Sherlock will walk through and begin talking to John as if she isn’t there.
When nothing like that happens, he gets her off right there in the kitchen with his hand in her knickers and then kisses her before she goes, promising to be in touch. Then he unmatches her and deletes the app.
Things progress just like that for another week. Nothing John tries works, even his attempts to show Sherlock how much he wants to focus on him by trying to write up one of their old cases. Sherlock practically ignores him; he doesn’t preen over the details or read over John’s shoulder to correct him while he types. He just stares at the details of the latest murder while whispering to himself about this mysterious man who he hasn’t figured out yet. The puzzle that John will never be to him.
It comes to a head on a Thursday night during the worst heatwave London’s ever seen. The flat is suffocatingly hot, and John feels like he’s about to crumble. When the case breaks, Sherlock yells loud enough that John hears Mrs. Hudson drop a glass below them. He’s out the door almost before John can follow him, in the cab faster than ever before. Beside him, John is on the knife’s edge, needy and frightened and aching for more from Sherlock. More attention, more affection, more devotion, more. More something.
The warehouse is dark, all the windows blacked out and a furnace blazing to pump out heat in the already hellish air around them. John has texted Lestrade of course, and he’s coming. But Sherlock insists they go inside first. His eyes are shining with need, and John feels a spark of rage and want inside that he tries to swallow down.
As they crouch in a corner of the warehouse, the eerie orange glow from the open furnace casting the room in a macabre mixture of light and shadow, Sherlock eyes the murderer across the room. He’s setting the stage for his next murder, and Sherlock watches carefully as he lays out his tools, barely breathing as the murderer holds a gleaming blade up in the light.
John feels sick, the heat engulfing him entirely. Behind him the sound of NSY bursting in breaks through the thick quiet of the warehouse. John grabs Sherlock’s arm, holding him back from leading the charge.
“I-- Sherlock, fuck. I’m in love with you.”
