Would you ever write an angsty Thorin returns to the Shire to get his hobbit back and beg his forgiveness fic?

👀 I don’t know how angsty it would be (probably mild at the very least), but I DEFINITELY would! I even have something like this on my ideas list! I have a plot bunny from a few years ago where I wanted to do this, with correspondence between Bilbo and the mountain slowly diminishing and him believing Thorin has forgotten about him, etc…

…so maybe I should dig it back out again?

I was listening to The cover Of Cendrillon Of Lollia and razzy and it gives me so much Merula x MC vibes, with The whole Merula Is The mole Reveal, even If I don't Ship Lilianne and Merula I can perfectly Imagine Them Dancing With This Song and It's tearing my heart, I feel I'm gonna cry. Lilianne was starting to see Merula as a Friend I can just imagine how She reacts. “My Mother say I Never have to expect the Best for everyone, and it's painful Think that Maybe She was right”

I’ve been thinking a lot and I realized something. The Merula reveal is meant to echo the “Snape kills Dumbledore” moment. Or at least, it does, whether it was meant to or not. Originally, I was so sure that The Portrait Vault was going to be Rakepick pulling a Snape, but that ship has basically sailed. But on the other hand, we have a character who was presented as the antagonist in the first installment, but it eventually becomes clear that they’re not a real threat. In the third installment, we learn more about their past, meet someone who they have a real grudge against because of a previous incident we didn’t see. By the fifth installment, they have firmly become an ally, even if they still treat the protagonist just as horribly as they always have and half the fandom despises them for it...the story, at least, has cemented them as on the side of the heroes. Then comes the ending of the sixth installment, where this asshole who drives us crazy, but we were so sure was definitely on our side...is revealed to work for the Big Bad. They’re a spy for the villains, and it’s not really clear when they swapped sides but potentially, they were evil all along. It’s a gut punch. 

...Now am I talking about Merula, or Snape? 

That’s the thing. Merula really is the “Snape” of this story, though her story is probably going to wind up being more like a revised version of Draco’s tale. I still expect redemption and endless amounts of ship-tease. Hell I expect the opportunity to canonize MC/Merula in the main story if the player so chooses. That’s just how much #BelligerentSexualTension these two characters have. I’m listening to the song right now and I love it. The whole aesthetic with the masks and the dancing, just, just be still my heart. It kind of reminds me of that one song...oh god, what’s it called? “Secret Garden” I think? Yeah, it’s used in a lot of Undertale fan videos, but it’s from the side of the fandom with all the AUs so I don’t know much about it...but that song also kind of gives me MC x Merula vibes.
