Hello!

I am happy to present, my first video and let’s play of the Berry household in The Sims 3! 

I finally managed to get the Sims 3 to work, amazing. Anyway, the video will premiere May 23th, 2023 @ 7am PDT.

Please be aware that, Paxton and Future Issie will NOT count towards the Rose Generation, they are literally story telling purposes. The Rose Generation is, Chloe, Isla, Ruby, Joel, Selene, Noel & Juniper Berry AFTER Aurora marries Jasper. 

About the Sims:

Aurora Pepper Berry. Fresh out of college, moved to Aurora Skies to start her dreams of becoming a Cross-Breeder Scientist. She adopted young Paxton, after realizing that all of her energy will be thrown into her work. She isn’t sure if she will ever find the one. 

Paxton Matthew Berry.  The story starts with him when his parents had put him up for adoption as a baby, they couldn’t afford to keep him. And then came along Aurora Berry, who took him in. He is already showing signs of his musical and artistic talents.

Nostalgia for issi!

Narnia: Common Ground // Prompt // Issi (OC) and Carma (OC)

Issi turned away from the stone window, giving her forearms a reprieve from the stone that jutted up into her skin, her attention pulled by the opening of the heavy wooden door behind her. Shuffling away from the window, chains from her ankle restraints slid along the floor behind her.

“What?” she asked the woman that stood in the doorway as she lowered herself to sit on the thin mattress on the floor.

“Dinner.” The woman, Carma, set a plate onto the floor, carefully pushing it further into the room. She had always been the one to tend to Issi since she had been hauled through the grounds of Miraz’s castle where she was made a spectacle as a Telmar-Traitor. She was the first to come to her with a bucket of water and a rag to clear the dirt and grime that had been poured over her head in the middle of the square. “If you want it, that is. It’s pretty good tonight, meat and potatoes.”

“Thank you.” It was bound to be cold and slimy by now. Chunks of meat mostly made of fat. Leftovers.

Carma pointed her chin towards the window. “How was the view tonight?”

Resting her forearms on her knees, Issi angled her head towards the window sill. She couldn’t see anything from this angle, just a swatch of grey that was the clouds. “The kids were playing in the courtyard,” she had said after a moment of silence. “I could hear their laughs all the way from up here. They were playing such silly games, but it looked like fun.”

“Yes,” Carma said with a gentle smile, clasping her hands together in front of her, “It is nice whenever Lord Miraz allows them in the area, they have such a great time. If only he would let them on the grounds.”

“No one ever goes into the forests, either,” Issi pointed out.

“Oh, no, of course not,” Carma said. Issi looked over at her and found the woman shaking her head. “No one is ever allowed in there. Not even to the villages unless given special permission.” Her expression softened, and she pressed her lips together. “I haven’t returned since I was summoned to work in the castle.”

“I liked skipping stones the most,” Issi said. She wasn’t exactly ignoring the wistfulness in Carma’s words. Because she felt it in her chest as the image of her home had suddenly filled her mind. Just like Carma she had suddenly left her own family, left what she had always known behind. “The sounds of the rocks hitting the water, seeing the ripples, the breeze in the trees. The smell of the lake. You could forget about everything out there.”

Issi closed and could see a lake stretched out in front of her. The water gently lapping against the rocky sand. The trees with branches that stretched and reached out over the area, extending high into the sky, providing shade on the hottest of days just as much of a natural climbing area. The smell of sweet flowers mixed in with the musty odors of the vegetation around the water.

Her father’s laughter, and words of encouragement, skimmed the top of the water after each turn she would take, and with each stomp of her feet for not getting the technique down. He would squint against the sunlight in search of the perfect stone before pressing it into her hand, promising that this throw would be the best one. He would wrap his arms around her, holding her securely, safely, at the water’s edge as he showed her how to flick her wrist just right to get the perfect amount of skips.

Opening her eyes, Issi let out a sigh. The stale, stuffy room enveloped her too tightly. Though, she knew not to complain. She reached for the plate and balanced it carefully on her lap. Plucking a cold potato between her fingers, she popped it into her mouth.

“There is a game we play here,” Carma said, taking a few steps further into the room. A patch of light stretched across the floor and Issi looked over towards the door, spotting a candlestick sitting atop a small table in the hallway, casting shadows all over the designs painted on the walls. “Conkers. You take the biggest nut from a tree, and tie a string around it, and spin it, trying to break your opponents.”

A distant smile to her face. “I was one of the best players,” she said. Carma lifted a hand to her mouth, holding back a laugh that shook her shoulders. “No one wanted to play against me after a while. Might have knocked a few boys ‘round in the face while playing. Never on purpose.” She waved her hand in the air before a thoughtful look came to her face. “A few on purpose now that I think about it.”

Issi laughed around a mouthful of food. “Just a few?”

“Well,” Carma said with a sigh, her laughter subsiding, “maybe a little more than a few. But, that’s the past now.” She stepped back into the door frame, quickly looking up and down the hall. Then, she squared her shoulders and cleared her throat and said quietly, “Word from the kitchen is that dessert tomorrow is a bread pudding. Fresh berries and all of that. I don’t suppose you would want some of that?”

“Yes, please,” Issi said with a nod. “I would love some if you could spare any.” Dessert wasn’t a luxury despite the luxuriousness of the castle. And Carma was risking a lot just by checking in on her. She was hired to do as the royal family bid, not to aid the Telmar-Traitor.

“I’ll do my best,” Carma agreed.

Issi nodded. The door shut, sealing her in darkness once more.

Really, teenage girls have that much of a role in developing and advancing culture? Fourteen year old me with low self-esteem would have loved to have known this.

Short answer: Yes. Yes they absolutely 100% do. 

So this phenomenon is actually fairly well-studied and documented, and it’s a really cool pattern that has repeated basically throughout human history. Basically, women – especially young women – tend to be cultural innovators. They’re the early adopters of new trends and end up creating a lot of culture and spear-heading movements.

It’s speculative, and we’ll probably never know for sure, but some people believe women created language to begin with. Which would make sense in a hunter-gatherer society; while men were out killing mastodons or whatever, women would be picking berries and raising babies and chatting with one another.

One Direction. Twilight. The Beatles. Snapchat. Not only are girls early adopters, they have this tendency to love their favorite things with all their hearts, and that enthusiasm has a way of making things blow up in a big way.

There’s lots of reasons why women in general and young women especially might be leading the cultural charge. For one, people are usually raised by their mothers, so it makes sense that culture would pass down from women. For another, for myriad societal reasons (blah, blah, patriarchy), AFAB folks tend to be socialized to do more social bonding, have more friendships, collaborate more, talk more, etc. AMAB folks tend to be socialized to be more competitive and have shallower relationships, so of course they’re not going to be on the forefront of developing new trends in social media or language or storytelling or whatever else. 

Also, well, despite how super important women have been in the development of culture, the interests of girls are still denigrated and dismissed. Part of that is sexism, and part of that I think is caution. Men, who are in a position to care about their social standing, aren’t going to go all in on something experimental or new or untested. They don’t want to look like a fool if something turns out to suck. So they wait until something gets big and then jump on the bandwagon. Girls, who have relatively little social capital to lose, attach onto whatever they think is interesting – and when enough of them swarm something, it can’t help but get big and attract the attention of men (who then undoubtedly will begin mansplaining how wonderful it is to the women who have been loyally using it for years, but that’s a different topic).

Because young people are still figuring out their identities and don’t have their preferences and values firmly set in stone, it’s easier to win them over than older people. In today’s market, teens have an especially powerful role in culture-shaping because there’s no centralized media pipeline to feed them trends; instead of having what’s “cool” fed to them by culture-creators on TV, teens in this 21st century are pretty much creating culture among themselves, and then it’s spreading outward. 

As a buying demographic, teens are also a really valuable target audience because all of their money is disposable. They might not have jobs (though of course some do!) but they also generally don’t have bills. So if you give a 15-year-old $100 for their birthday, they’ll usually spend every cent of it on something they like. Ask me how many books I bought in high school vs how many I can buy today. 

We tore down the gatekeepers, and now there’s a very narrow line between culture creators and consumers. YouTube, Wattpad, DeviantArt, social media – creators and consumers are hanging out and mingling there, and in every case you’ll see young people leading that charge. 

So. That’s a long-winded exploration of why I think it’s important to pay attention to what’s popular with young people (especially young women) and why it doesn’t trouble me too much that Wattpad is primarily occupied by that demographic right now. I think it’s a sign we’re on the right path.

So, Dani is the other half of Danlie, my oldest running ship. The way SJ brings Dani to life always makes me extremely happy. Dani has been through a lot, no denying that, but she’s fierce and loyal and overall very much someone I could be friends with. Sure, she’s an idiot, but that’s why Charlie loves her.

So, I’ve got like 3 different versions of Tana I’m actively shipping with, with SJ. And I’m roleplaying with 4. Each and everyone of them is different and interact with my characters in a certain way. Whether it’s either Quinntana and their constant tearing each other down while building each other up. Sydtana who aren’t even together yet because we haven’t gotten them there but seriously need to so they can stop being fluffy via headcanon only. Or Cartana, with Santana being a mom-friend quite literally because she’s a mom. All the interactions with SJ’s Santana are perfect, okay? PERFECT.

Issy is a mess and I love her dearly. As does Lena. Without Issy, Lena would not be the character she is. They wouldn’t have a cupcake business AND successful music/writing careers, cause those idiots wouldn’t have made it that far, let’s be real. She’s stubborn and loveable and we still need to write more for them.

Speaking of someone ELSE Lena wouldn’t be the same without, Mike. Her getaway driver. That boy who snuck his way into her life and into her heart and then drove away with her. Who does that? Who says “let’s go for a drive” and agrees that going to NYC, from Lima, Ohio, is a good idea? I mean, they did it, and had a lovely time, so that’s always good. He makes Lena happy and thus he makes ME happy. We also need to write more of Mena.

Parks! I fucking love Parks. So does Jay. Jay loves their crazy blonde friend-sister. She’s a very unique take on a Fabray, in that she defies her family name in a lot of subtle ways. She’s loyal to a fault and by god do I love her.

The Amy Pond to Lena’s Doctor. I love her. She’s so particular and she makes me very happy as a human being. Her teasing of Lena is probably my favorite thing cause HAILS KNEW. I mean, everybody knew about Lena and Mike but... y’know, she said something. 

Rocky. The Easy Bake side of the Easy Bake Engineers. Her and Jay are seriously the craziest of siblings WITHOUT being siblings, but at least they’re related. Someone has to give Jay hell and I’m glad it’s her. I mean, she IS their TARDIS after all.

HOW MANY LAST NAMES CAN KATE GO THROUGH?! All of them, literally just all of them. I love Kate, though. Seriously. The Amy to Jay’s Rory, the Martha to Jay’s Doctor, Angel to Collins, Kida to Milo, Tulio to Miguel, and every other cliche pairing that abounds. She cares so damn much for them and they are head over heels for her. I can’t wait to see where these two go, but like of the rest of the group of them, they are probably the only pair even remotely ready for a wedding, but like even then, NOT YET.

Transiting Venus enters Scorpio

November 7 - December 1, 2017

During my secluded rural youth, we knew of only one color of topazt:

Now that Mars and Mercury have entered their detriment signs (Libra and Sagittarius, respectively), it’s Venus’ turn! Astrologer Isabel Hickey wrote, “Venus in Scorpio or in Aries is not happily placed for the animal self (Mars) overpowers Venus.” Later on (in her book Astrology: A Cosmic Science) she elaborated, “Venus cannot function well in a domain ruled by Mars, for Mars is everything that is aggressive, forceful, and outgoing, while Venus draws to herself through the power of love. She represents the attraction principle while Mars represents the repulsion principle.”

In other (and less potentially insulting) words, Venus’ main “job” of attraction malfunctions in the Mars signs, in which actively going after what we want is the task. Similarly, Mars (how we assert ourselves based on getting what we want) isn’t comfortable in Venus signs, where it must lie back on a divan and allow things to happen.

We also need to keep in mind that Venus is still in her “Lucifer-direct” phase - i.e., she’s placed earlier in the Zodiac than the Sun. That position makes her desirous of covering up her true feelings, in order to fit in better - and right away we see how that could go awry in resentful, vengeful Scorpio. Our ability to “shrug off” disappointment is still there, just more difficult to perform.

Venus in Lucifer-direct mode is also highly idealistic. People with this natal placement (raises hand) “are often involved in promoting new values, ideals, outlooks and ways of life created or exemplified by others.” (Michael R. Meyers, link here.) Look at my beloved Keith Richards, who basically infused himself with Chuck Berry guitar riffs! Unfortunately, this idealism when filtered through Scorpio will give us an “all or nothing” attitude - which is an impractical way to navigate through life.

How will this affect the typical Venusian domains of money, beauty and artistic expression, relaxation, and romance? The transit lasts only 25 days, which doesn’t seem like enough time for a lot of damage. The danger would be more in having a kind of “scorched earth” tantrum - in the heat of the moment, destroying everything.

Money: Scorpio isn’t the kind of sign that spends lavishly. I don’t think we’ll be in any hurry to start the holiday gift shopping, much less go overboard with it.

Beauty: This transit is actually perfect timing for a makeover!

Arts: Also will benefit, from the deepened and intensified emotions. We don’t want lightweight, flimsy music (for example), we want full blast. (My own favorite way to purge myself is loud music.)

Relaxation: This is difficult when the Scorpionic refusal to let go blends with the Venus tendency to hang on. It’s almost as if we don’t trust ourselves or the world enough to ever relax. (Is this Alastor Moody’s natal Venus, I wonder?)

Relationships: Perhaps some pressure to commit before we really want to, or to “prove it.” Grrr. This isn’t a very manipulative sign, but it can go to extremes. On the other hand, if everyone is ready for the next step….

Hey Everyone!! So sorry for the hiatus, I’m back at work and so I can’t sit down and upload. Anywho, I do have the Sims 2 installed on my laptop and the household I miss the most is my Berry Household, Aurora, Jasper, Paxton, Issie, Chloe, Isla, Ruby, Joel, Selene, Noel & Juniper; I really miss, so I thought maybe converting the Not So Berry Challenge into the Sims 2!  Please, note that I’m probably not going to download a lot of CC as my laptop can’t take a lot, but the Sims clothes I have I will try to match the colors!

Aurora Berry is the founder of the Berry household, she is incredibly playful and loves to pull pranks and hanging out with her BFF’s, Elisabeth & Daisy. She is a Knowledge Sim, with the LTW to become a Mad Scientist, she prefers eating vegatables and loves sending time looking up at the stars. Her hobby is Science, and she’s currently studying Physics as her major in college. She lives in the 9 Dorm Room of La Fiesta Tech with, Jasper Marshall, Bradley Hunt, Elisabeth Underwood & Daisy Patterson.  Jasper Berry is Aurora’s future husband, she’s determined that by having a major crush on him, his funny, artistic, loves to her pranks, and is a total hunk, what isn’t there to like about him? Isabella snuggled more into Vince and closed her eyes as she felt him rub her back. “Thank you for going to the gym and teaching me some moves.” She said softly as he chuckled and kissed her head before he looked at her. “You’re welcome, you doing okay?” She shook her head as she looked  at him and bit down on her bottom lip. “Not really, between Lena and Finn wanting to talk last night and trying to get out of my self-pity, its been a roller coaster but Im gonna be there for my friend because she needs me.” She sighed as she relaxed against his pillows as she looked at him and cupped his cheek. “Are you doing okay?” Vince nodded as he looked at her. “I couldn’t be any better.” He answered and kissed her forehead. “I still don’t deserve you…” He shook his head and kissed her lips. “I don’t deserve you.” He rested his forehead against hers and looked into her eyes as she returned the kiss.

“You make me happy.” She whispered as she looked at him as he nodded. “You make me happy too, and thank you for being honest with me about..” She nodded as she wrapped a leg around his waist. “You’re welcome and thank you for being honest with me and trusting me.” Vince nodded and brushed her hair away from her face. “Why wouldn’t I trust you and be honest with you?” She shrugged slightly as she looked at him. “We’re not gonna end up like you and your ex alright? Im gonna make sure of it and I know you will too.” She gave him a small smile and heard a door open and close. “Hey vince!” She furrowed her eyebrows when she heard someone call out for him and she quickly covered up even more as she heard the door open. “Do-Oh! My god. Im so sorry.” Vince crawled over Isabella and blocked the view so Issy could slip on her shirt and shorts. “You have a girl in your bed.” “Yes I do have a girl in your bed.” “Did I just, Im so sorry. I saw your car out front, wondering why you came back so soon and I thought your ma would be home and just.” Isabella slipped on her clothes and fixed her hair so the hickeys wouldn’t be seen. “Im so sorry bro. Im sorry too!” Isabella smiled and opened up the door further as she was met with a six-foot guy. “Chris, this is my gi-Issy and Issy, this is my best friend, Chris.” “It’s a pleasure to meet you.” She replied as she stuck her hand out to him and saw him shake his head before he gave her a big hug and felt him lift her off of the floor. “Thank you for making him smile more.” He whispered to her and felt herself smile. “You’re welcome. He makes me smile more too.” She whispered back as she looked at him and saw him smile. 

“Okay Chris, put her down. She needs to go and get stuff for dinner.” She felt him put her down and smile at the two guys. “Yeah, Im on prep duty and that  means I have to go and get food. So I’ll see you later baby.” Issy kissed Vince and felt him return the kiss as he placed a hand on her lower back. “See you later baby.” Issy grabbed her bag and gloves. “It was nice to meet you, Chris.” “It was nice to meet you too.” She walked to the door and felt Vince’s hand on her shoulder. “Im gonna walk you out, alright.” She nodded and waved goodbye to Chris as they left the house. “Chris seems like a cool guy and seems to care a lot about you.” Isabella said as she leaned against her car once she put the bags into the car and looked at him. “Yeah, he does. He’s been there for me whenever my parents can’t be and basically raised me.” She smiled as she looked at him and placed her hands on his shoulders. “He did a great job.” She kissed his lips and looked at him with a smile. “See you tonight.” “Yes ma’am.” She slid into her car and started her car before he kissed her. “Bye babe.” “Bye.” She pulled out of the driveway and headed to the store.
