I'm sorry if this is too personal but did you had/have any art trauma caused by art teachers in school? And by trauma I mean some aversion to try learning one thing, because art teacher was just a dick. I have something like that with shading and it still holds after 6 years as a adult and I want to break it, but I cannot force myself to try it again and this holds my proggres as a ,,artist" and that's make me smad. I'm sorry once again if this is too personal or too hard to answer
Yup I did! Tho idk if I can call it "trauma" tbh
Oop I kinda went on a rant sorry lol
I studied ceramics in uni but I did have nude art classes and classes that required detailed art projects.
Although most of my uni time was wasted thanks to covid, I did get harrassed by a few of my classmates and my teacher in my last year.
My classmate had said that my art level wasnt good enough to be in this uni and my teacher yelled at me in the middle of class for like a week or two because I refused his ideas for my projects (he had given me the ok on the design before he changed his mind 180 and started pointing and laughing at me with my classmates while i worked on my ceramic project)
I eventually had to give up resisting because I wanted to pass the class and let him do whatever he wanted. (He legit just put clay on top of my design, smoothed it out and that was it in fact here is the design he gave me the ok to, the middle of my project and the way he stopped me)
After this I basicly didnt do anything more for his class, minimum effort. My days in Uni weren't all bad thank god but I was extremely unmotivated.
After I graduated, I didnt really draw or create much until my love for drawing rekindled with Cult of The Lamb! I love this game and Narilamb too much lmao-
But as for something similar to your experience I would say that I used to play the bass and electro guitar in highschool and we had to perform one day which I chickened out from that resulted in the music teacher getting angry at me. I dont play the guitar anymore :/ But my love for music hasnt died and I am using my love for art diffrently!
I would say that even if certain experiences deviates you from some topics, branches of art or people, dont let it kill your whimsy and ideas. You can always try out diffrent things to find something fun like diffrent styles of drawing, shading or no shading, diffrent mediums like digital or traditional, new or old techniques, weird colors or designs. You can always try out whats popular to see if you like it or not as well. You can also consume a lot of art media, educational or entertainment.
There is so many creative things you can try out, you dont have to be stuck on the past and that one shading idea your teacher tried to teach you ır tried to force onto you. I think you can go back to it after trying out many diffrent things to see if it was the technique or the teacher that ruined it for you.
If it was the technique, there are many MANY diffrent ones that you can enjoy!
If it was the teacher, Im not a therapist so idk what would be the right thing to say but healing takes time, sometimes the things people say never leaves you and sometimes you forget it 5 minutes later. You are a person with the ability to change, learn and grow. The only thing that is in your way is your 'will'. If you are willing to change, even if takes a long time, you will change! But if you dont want to, then no one can force you.
Healing and moving on is hard but not impossible. Dont let an asshole teacher get in the way of your growth ❤️

Tracing, Style Theft, and the need to be Unique
A comment chain on Instagram got me thinking about these things earlier. Someone asked what common art advice is actually bad advice, and I left a short list that Ive heard, among which is "dont trace."
Naturally, this ruffled some feathers, but heres the deal: so long as you arent line-for-line copying the majority of someone elses work and passing it off as yours? Theres absolutely nothing wrong with tracing. Copying and tracing are two different things; think back to the old "how to draw" books. How they blocked out anatomy and taught you the relative distance of things with lines and joints. Tracing... is essentially doing the same thing. As a learning tool for personal use, being able to take a picture and draw the skeletal frame over it helps you with perpesctive and anatomy immensely! It even helps in stylization. Tracing develops the skills you need in order to replicate something, replication develops the skills you need in order to stylize.
Which brings us to our next issue.... style theft isnt a thing. It doesnt exist. Unless youre forging paintings and passing them off as the real deal, there is absolutely zero reason not to look at the techniques and stylization your favorite artists use and replicate that. Again, it helps you develop skills like shading and coloring and lineart. And having your own "style"? One that has to be completely different from anyone elses? Thats bullshit! Most artists dont just have ONE style. The best artists have several and go out of their way to continue learning more!
Think of it this way: we wouldnt have 2d animation if actual artists gave a flying fuck about their "style" being copied. The Renaissance artists would never have risen to prominence if their teachers hadnt sat them down and told to paint how they did. Bob Ross would never have had a tv show if mimicking how someone else creates mattered in any way at all.
The way you develop your own style is simply this: you look at your favorite artists, you analyze what elements of their work make your brain happy and what are enjoyable for you to do, you mash them all together and voila. Your very own (not really at all) "unique" style.
I think this frankly terrible and counterintuitive art advice trend is killing artists. When you go online as an artist and preach to a bunch of younger aspiring artists that invaluable tools for growth are inherently bad and wrong and theyre evil for using them, you do three things at once:
First, you make them fear creation. "I want to draw or sculpt or knit or what have you, but what if I accidentally copy someone? Then Id be a bad person!"
Second: you kill the joy of creation. They become too focused on the end result and never really learn how to make for the sake of making.
Third: you block their avenues of progress. In order to get better at your craft, you really do have to try everything. Trying to make certain techniques into something "off limits" only serves to hinder that progression. It causes stagnation which in turn causes frustration, which leads us back to issue 2.
When I was a kid, my grandma would drive two hours to my city every year for my birthday, and every year she would take me to the art museum. My grandma loved art with every fiber of her being. She was thrilled when my mom went to art school. She was estatic when my sibling and I took up drawing. But she never, EVER tried to make anything herself. See, when she was in school, her art teacher had told her she wasnt very good. And she, being a kid, believed it. And she stopped trying. She would never color with me and my sibling, would never try drawing with us when we begged her to join in. Shed chuckle and say "oh, I couldnt draw a straight line with a ruler!" And sit and watch us work and rave over how good we were at it instead.
When she hit about 80 or so, her memory started going. But she still loved the museum and she still loved art. One of my aunts talked her into taking one of those "how to paint" classes at a little studio near her house. She painted a cake. And you know what? It was a really friggin good painting! Itd be hanging in my room right now if my aunt hadnt called dibs!
My point is this: anyone of any skill level can learn to draw or paint or whatever. Im a major proponent of this; I always have been. But shaming creatives for how they do it, for how they learn it, for what they make? That destroys the drive to create, and it can last a lifetime. Who knows what my grandma could have made if not for that teacher? Who knows how many young artists felt nothing but shame and guilt over their work and quit because of bad-faith art advice?

Hello! I really love your art and I was wondering if you have any advice for a beginner artist trying to make there own style?
fiofniwoe oh god i am pretty much the least qualified person you could’ve asked this question, since i consider myself pretty much a beginner and i do NOT have a consistent style whatsoever, but ill try?? to give my own experience?? i guess??
from my own experience, art is one of those things where you learn the rules of... whatever it is youre doing to bend or break them. for example!! if youre drawing people, its really important to understand at least the basic rules of human anatomy. even if your knowledge isnt GREAT, having that bit of knowledge can help! instead of slapping down lines and hoping it looks good, you can push or pull those anatomy rules a bit more confidently without it being a strain on the eyes. (my favorite example of this has to be this lovely art.) when i first started i tried to jump straight into stylized art and it was usually a mess, or my art was constrained to one position and lacked variety. it really wasnt until i brushed up on the basics that i felt more confident in what the fuck i was doing and could have more freedom to my drawing capabilities. so if youre just starting, i would personally focus more time on a simpler style to practice those basics. then when youre more comfy, move onto building your style in a certain direction.
also!! art styles take time to build!! im sure if you scroll back far enough in any artist’s catalogue of stuff they’ve posted, youll notice that immediately. you can see the transition, but its a slow thing. sometimes it takes months, other times years. but it’s really not an overnight thing. maybe one day you find this really cool lighting technique you never considered, and then you realized that this brush youve never used is a thing... and then! loh and behold! you could shade like that?? oh and you can exaggerate those portions of the face?? who knew! and then an artist looks back and oh shit!! their art HAS changed! so if youre just starting art, dont stress yourself so much about trying to find your “unique” style immediately. it’ll come with time!! just keep on pushing and pulling the rules and adding new things that look nice, removing old ones that aren’t so nice. you’ll get there.
if you feel like youve got your basics at least somewhat down and youre only stagnant in your style, then, well, look at art that you like. what draws you to it? is it the shape? the colors? the lighting?? the medium?? or is it just that the guy drew the eyes really cutely and you want to try something like that? or maybe someone draws birds that are so huggable and you want to try it yourself?? try incorporating those little details or techniques of what you like into your art, and see what clicks, what doesn’t.
also!! watch!!! timelapses of art!!! art tutorials are informative but if youre like me who cant keep attention for shit, watch and pay close attention to the speed lapses where people talk about funny stories or play cool music in the background and see what those artists do when its not the expectation to educate. how do they build the structure for faces?? how do they blend colors?? do they do multiple sketches?? how DO they do their sketches?? what kind of blending and painting techniques do they use?? what kind of shortcuts do they do that you didn’t notice previously?? look past your preferred medium and find artists from all kinds of crafts and youll see how much you can learn. it’s really helpful to just watch them do their shit, especially because they show stuff they do without realizing how it might be helpful. for example, i watch neytirix and i realize they do lighting above the lineart layer (i think with some kind of airbrush tool) to give it a more soft glowy effect which!!! i would not!!! have otherwise thought about!!! even though its really fucking obvious in retrospect!!! when you binge a lot of artists’ videos repeatedly their patterns become easier to point out and you can learn a lot.
anyway, stare at cool art! surround yourself with artists who are extremely talented! theres so much you pick up without realizing it! doodle well and often!! maybe youll stumble across something you like to do. and last but not least, find your medium and pick up your tools and fuck around with them!! maybe youll find something cool for yourself, who knows?? its a process and your style will evolve and grow with time. just keep on trying new things out, testing what you like and don’t like, and keep on growing. an art style is only unique (imo) because it is a conglomeration of all that youve learned from countless different people.
anyway. you should probably ask someone whos not entirely self taught or has more experience, but i hope this was slightly helpful!!! idk maybe im stating the obvious, in which case i apologize for that!!!

A Little Explanation On How I Choose My Colors
Ok so a while ago i was asked to do a tutorial on how i choose colors! im no professional or expert or anything but i do think explaining how i do things could help someone else! i wasnt sure if they meant picking colors for designs or just for like art and shading in general so ill go over both(this may get a bit long sorry)
-so for designs what i actually focus on the most in my designs appearance wise is color bc i love using it so much! since a bitch needs structure i give each oc a main or base color and base the rest on what just looks good with it i usually go with base+grayscale or base+colors right by it(ie red and orange)
-heres a few to get an idea of what i mean also i included palettes and while i dont use them myself it might be helpful for someone else
-its also helpful to change your canvas color to a color you want to be a base/mood
-now i usually have my sai window something like this:
-i dont make official palettes for anything i either color pick or wing my art bc i do think it helps alot with confidence in colors or something like that (just make sure you dont whitewash characters color pick the skin if youre worried)
-my personal preference is to not use full black/white or fully saturated color(bc most of the time i will be putting an overlay on so that will saturate my pics more) also for my insp swatches theyre from various media that i liked the colors on! if you find something with colors that standout to you color pick them and look how they relate to each other! it really helps to look at the color wheel and then then colors to see how saturation and where on the color wheel stuff is
-now for an image its very important to think that you arent gonna get your base colors right the first time!! when you draw characters more and more you get a feel for what colors you like best just slap on some colors you think will work and use the fill tool to make changes when you see fit!
-small process gif of me trying to pick colors (you can see my unsaturated color bias) but if youre stuck making things coherent for a certain mood like nighttime etc overlays can help!
-a little trick i like to do is put an overlay over the pic and colorpick the colors while the overlay is up then fill them on the layer with the un overlayed colors it will make it darker and weird looking initially but when you take of the overlay those nicer colors will still be there and now you can edit them
-anyways on to the shading! i wont go over form and light sources since that would make this Very long so heres me slapping a bit of colors down its mostly color picking the base and moving it around to get various colors i like its all very spur of the moment and i colors almost haphazardly because im trying to have a bit more fun with it
-a neat little trick i use is the zigzag color picking technique(?) its hard for me to explain so i tried to draw out how the movement of my picking goes and provided some palettes so ppl can color pick those to see for themselves now in shading i try to use more Non Realistic colors bc i think they provide a cool pop
-now hair is..even less easier to explain its mostly a gradient shown below and i hard blend it all and then add dashes of various other color using the same technique above
-my technique involves sort of subtle shading and if thats not your style you can definitely use what i talked about to make highly saturated art and if you do shade similarly and are not satisfied with how dark or noticeable it is
overlays are your best friend! just make note on using not very saturated ones because then you can make colors muddy and confusing
Thanks for reading I hope something in here was helpful! Always remember art is supposed to be fun and if you want to go wild with colors you should always do so!!
#myart#mytutorial#long post#art tutorial#i hope.........this isnt too long#also i hope there arent too many like spelling errors i didnt read overthis#i hope its helpful! art is about taking techniques u like and using them

The Good, The Bad, and The Dirty: RWBY Vol 6 E 12
I wish I could’ve enjoyed this, but the fact that this episode could’ve been perfectly merged with last weeks episode for a rightful 23-25 minute episodes makes me angry.
Overall rating: 3/10
A.N.: First we got all buildup, now we got all pay off. Why do they keep doing this?
The Good:
Quick spoilers for the review ahead: most of the contents of this section are about the Bee vs. Adam fight. In fact, the 3/10 rating is earned because of this since I was just bored during the fist half and during the cliffhanger.
A quick shoutout to Ruby for figuring out an alternative way to neutralize Cordovin without yelling it or making it as obvious as Oscar’s plan was. TBH the writers did a poor job trying to execute the first plan by being just as obvious to make it not work.
This week the fight between Blake, Yang and Adam continues, but unlike last week, both girls get to fight by each others side. What’s really interesting about the scenes showcased on this episode is the way both adapt to their current circumstances and still manage to get that sweet Bumbleby combo we’ve experienced in previous volumes.
They are both quick on their feet, always in sync. Blake’s evasive technique and light hits help to destabilize Adam while Yang carries the punch (literally). She distracts him and positions him right where Yang needs him to be. Not only that, but she makes sure Adam cannot absorb any of Yang’s heavy hits, completely conscious of how that can backfire.
Of course, the ribbon combo attack the pair is known for makes a comeback. This time, Yang grabs what’s left of Gambol Shroud to protect Blake and is the one throwing her partner around.
The flying cat Faunus is not strong enough to break Adam’s stance and she’s thrown away, and her aura breaks. Like everyone guessed, Blake’s aura is purple, the same shade Yang’s bandana is ;)
Now is Yang’s turn to hold her ground against Adam while she keeps an eye on Blake, who could easily fall to there death. hOW THE FUCK CAN SHE CLIMB WITH HEELS.
“The moment of truth, Yang. Do you think you’re faster than you were at Beacon?”
Yang trembles.
“Me neither.”
Here’s the second thing I wanted to point out about this fight: Adam still tries to use manipulation to get the upper hand. He knows a part of Blake still fears him, and he knows Yang’s trauma is associated with him.
Again and again he has tried to exploit this, but once more: he fails.
Yang goes for an evasive tactic rather than an offensive one, more proof of her character development.
Adam continues taunting, because he has no other tools or tactics he can use. He desperately tries to clutch to power, even though last episode showed him that Yang and Blake are at their strongest when together.
This is why he wanted to sever that link in volume 3. Even if he didn’t know how good of a team they were, he knew the best way to break Blake was through Yang.
“What does she even see in you!” remarks how out of his element Adam is. He lost the fight before he actually lost it.
Yang’s Semblance makes a return, but TBH the animation was pretty underwhelming considering we’ve waited for its comeback for about 3 years. I think Adam’s Moonslice animation has been maintained. Everything from the color palette shift, to the way the red on his outfit lights up. His presence is there.
Yang’s Semblance doesn’t bust in victorious and glorious. It’s more like a tame flame. I appreciate the fire effects, and the way Yang’s moments are highlighted with 2D yellow effects, but where’e the frame distortion? The glowing red eyes? The final punch was nice, but overall, I’m disappointed.
Finally, the moment we all have been waiting for comes: Adam Taurus’s death. Have some popcorn peeps. There was no other way to end the whole arc, Adam was irredeemable.
If you wanted me to be honest, I thought Adam was going to fall to his death in some fight scenario where he was so consumed by anger and his obsession that he looses it; or Yang was going to be the one ending it.
Having them both kill him, with both halves of Gambol Shroud no less, is so fucking powerful and fitting. Of course, quite traumatic for Blake, who would be the one most affected by it.
I think they nailed the reaction. Aside from the obvs Bumbleby excitement, Blake breaking down, the remainder of the promise and Yang comforting her so delicately is the perfect way to end this arc.
Unfortunately, it isn’t quite as cathartic and beautiful since we’re cut short by the need to establish another cliff hanger.
The Bad:
I see people left and right on RT’s forms, Tumblr and YouTube praising the CRWBY for getting better at pacing or even “nailing” it.
Boi, oh boi, could you not be more wrong.
This episode could and should’ve been part of last episode. There’s no reason why any writer would cut the momentum episode 11 carried for a cheap cliff hanger and have the resolution to the fights be concluded 7 days later.
Do you know what real shows do? They make a two parter. A half an hour special.
I could bring up AtlA, but I’m going to bring up SU.
Do you know what’s going to happen next Monday on CN?
A 45 minute special Steven Universe season finale.
You know why?
Because the best way to finalize the diamond arc is by paying off all the buildup with a huge chunk of content! The decision to have the final 4 episodes group together to deliver some satisfactory pay off will be a blast.
Yes, we don’t know how season is going to end, but I can fucking tell you this special is the best way to end this arc.
SU’s atrocious schedule has made a lot of people drop the show, and I don;’t blame them. CN doesn’t know what its doing, and it’s purposefully killing shows with this (Se also: Adventure Time).
However, if there’s something the Crewniverse know how to do is delivering a story that can fit an episode.
A beginning/set up, a middle and a resolution/ending.
RWBY doesn’t do that. Episodes are: all build up, all buildup + some middle, some middle+tiny resolution.
The only way one can truly enjoy RWBY is by binge watching it, but unfortunately, RT doesn’t release the episodes Netflix style.
Do they change and adapt their writing because of this?
No, they don’t.
The problem wasn’t that the RWBY girls were separated, it’s that the writing team doesn’t know how to properly pace a story for an audience.
Also, is anyone bothered by the fact that no matter how many times Cordovin hit the Atlesian ship, that thing could still work?
Way to kill the momentum.
The Dirty:
I see a lot of people reflagging GIFs of Ruby and Qrow showing how much the girl has grown and how conflicted he might be, and TBH I see what you do.
I know Qrow looks at Ruby and probably thinks of Summer.
Summer is dead; Ruby is not, and Qrow wants to keep it that way. But Ruby is on her way to becoming an adult, she’s the leader on her team, a figure to her friends and the protagonist of the show. She has to show she’s prepared to take a stance.
Awesome scenes guys! You forgot something tho:
Rubys conflict.
Just like the glazed over Oscars big “this is what I stand for” moment of his arc, we never see Ruby at her weakest.
People complained of this during volume 4, but have you not notice she has not broken down or showed a real crisis? This 5 minutes with the apathy is not enough, and though I love her questioning Ozpin, I feel this needed more fuel.
Sometimes it feels like the writers know what a protagonist is supposed to sound like and act like, but don’t quite get how they got there.
Oh yeah, Grimm show up btw. We all knew this so meh.
Overall rating: 3/10
A.N.: Someone should really teach Miles and Kerry the ways episodes are structured. It’s season 6 and still haven’t grasped how to write an episodic series.

Tangled Lines Drawing Session
In this session, im not going to lie i struggled a bit with the technique something just didnt click but thats okay it’s all about the learning process. I was trying to make the face look realistic on the first big one but I realised that it wasnt working and decided to go for more of a freestyle approach with the smaller faces and the red ink. I wanted to make multiple profiles and i wanted them all to seem a bit mad to give off a crazy vibe. I used alternative colours when working back into some of the face to see if would mad much of a difference. some of them it did work and some others i couldnt say the same.
A technique i use that i thought was cool was when I worked back inyo the gabe in the biro with pencil and shading in the empty space to give it more definition, and i dont know if it did but i like the way it tuned out and think it looks good so thats all that matters.
This is probably my favourite section because of how much is going on, theres the red coming down on either side of these faces it just fits so well with the contrast of the white and red and the elements of shade, makes the slightest difference but its always the smaller details we tend to over see that make the most difference.
This is an example of how working back into the faces with colour went well. The yellow and black was a good combination here, and the key was not to drown it with yellow but get just enough in order to have it work hand in hand with what was there before.
i really like the image below, it was made after the first piece and on this attempt I think I got more of an understanding of the technique and thast why i like it.
I was working in to it and was deciding what it needed and i had accidently drawn one of these spike things from the eye and was like “yes, i like that” and decide to do it all around the eye. something it reminds me of is a tattoo or 80′s rock music make up like kiss.
I chose red as the colour to colour it in because out of all the colours i fee like that one had the most power and presence.

i have too many thoughts bouncing around in my head so uhhhh im gonna talk abt shit
welcome 2 episode 43647 of my shitty slice-of-life text post series
school tomorrow i dont wanna go!!!!! !!!!!!!!!! depressions been hitting me tf up like some kind of MotherFucker n im so tired i h8 both of my classes i just want 2 lie down & turn into the floor -______________-
read 12 chapters of fma yesterday its good............. i dont love it yet but im definitely entertained so far & looking forward to getting further into it
also started reading silver spoon & it turns out the things i hated in the 1st ep of the anime didnt even happen in the manga who fuckin knew (im sorry i doubted u arakawa) so im actually enjoying the series a lot more this second time around! though that’s probably partly because i got rly attached to the protag halfway through s2 & now i get to dig out all the little signs of his low sense of self-worth on the reread so like. im having fun lol (watching him react to being told about livestock being offed for under-performing just the smallest bit again is..... so good.......)
watched all of aggretsuko today, like the original 100 shorts & the new series, it was p good! i honestly never planned to watch it bc like. i hate death metal / screaming bc it gives me anxiety & i knew this show would aggravate that but idk i heard good things about it from literally everywhere so i was like w/e im in the mood today i’ll just try it out & i blasted through it and enjoyed it v much
i think i like the shorts better than the show but that might be bc i watched the shorts first & got used to their rhythm? but at the same time i feel like the concept generally works better as little 1-minute tidbits. the show is a bit awkward sometimes in comparison but it’s a v good adaption regardless. it was interesting to see the concept executed 2 different ways at least. v fun show!
mmmmm still working on my silan portrait kind of!! i took a break for 2 days because 1. depression and 2. i was a fucking fool and played a Lot of piano on thursday so that put me out of physical commission for 2 days (honestly i was still feeling it today but i rly wanted to get back to work before it started to fade into yet another unfinished project). so yeah i got back to work on it today, and made some decent progress i think!
i mentioned in my other post that im working in clip studio paint, a program im not used to painting in, and i’ve definitely been struggling trying to get used to all these weird brushes but i think im slowly coming to an understanding and finding a technique that works for me? there’s an “oil paint” brush that’s good for blending & previously i was trying to use only that, since in photoshop i never switched to other brushes, i only used the one (hard round). the oil paint brush being a blending brush though, it’s basically impossible to lay down any new color on top of the old ones because the new color automatically blends with the old ones instead of coming out pure, so as a result all of my shading was coming out super soft and light which is not the effect i’m going for
so i found that using a different brush to lay down color first and then going in with the oil to blend made a huge difference & i was finally able to get in the darker shadows i wanted, but there was still the problem of details because like. the oil brush blends rly soft and it makes everything look kind of fuzzy, and it’s especially hard to deal with small areas for details
so today i started experimenting with a “watercolor” brush, which is basically just a normal brush with low opacity, and i’ve found it’s a good kind of middle ground between blending and carving in details, so that gave me a lot more control and is probably the closest i’ve gotten to my old painting style when i was working in photoshop
this whole process has just been rly confusing & im sure there are easier ways to go about this but i know i’ll get the hang of it eventually & get some good use out of this program, & it’s good to experiment with new tools i guess so?? it’s all good?? i’ll be honest im getting tired & this topic is kind of getting away from me uhhhh in conclusion im still working on the thing & i dont know when i’ll be done but i’m gonna fuckin. Keep at it
back to aggretsuko for a sec, something i rly noticed was the ost is?? really good????? i wanted to listen to it while i drew but i couldnt find it on yt & that’s like the extent of my music search capabilities on the internet so im p sad abt that bc that was like my fave part of the show rip
instead i listened to houseki no kuni’s ost which is fuckin beautiful ugh i finished that show a few weeks ago & it was very very gorgeous, like. weird and disjointed and a little tangential but fuck if it’s not put together in such an artful way that i can forgive all of that like what a way to create an atmosphere what a way to adapt a fuckin manga?? i tried reading the manga a bit bc lets be honest that anime ending was super unsatisfying but it just?? wasnt the same??? theres something abt the show being a 3d show and having the music to accompany its visuals & the way they did the lunarians especially holy fuck, it’s a completely different experience watching the show vs reading the manga & now im sad bc i want a s2 rly rly bad,,,;;;
anyway i didnt mean to talk abt hnk so much lol uh. i ended up listening to the op a thousand times bc god when i say the music for this show is rly good i mean it, both the op & ed are fuckin great (speaking of the ed that gorgeous animation holy shit,) along with its super atmospheric bgm just. god
as a reward for anyone who read through all this shit lmao here listen to hnk’s op it’s super good i promise
also watch the ed lmfao trust me it was a gift benevolently bestowed upon my eyeballs and now so too shall it be upon thine
anyway im fuckin tired & i think that’s all i wanted to say so like. peace
#retag later#my last post like this i think the read more didnt work on mobile so if that happens again i am. sorry#(if it happens again and tungle mobile disappears these tags then double whoops)#talkin bout stuff#today posts#ss blogging

Hey I like your art a ton and I was wondering just how long you have been drawing and working to improve as an artist.
Oh my gosh haha thank you so much for liking my art!
I have been drawing for the longest time, I think ever since kindergarten, well at least the artistic dedication!
I used to draw my when i was in middle school, starting from fourth grade i have been drawing more and more frequently until fifth grade in which I was drawing on a daily base, back then I would also be sitting and making animations on flash, which unfortunately I dont have backups of
but from middle school, up to high school 2012, my art never improved, it was just all the same all the time, I was back then on ritalin and I decided to start my first pony blog, while updating my blog, I couldnt consider yet Tumblr being part of the effective social websites that I go on as nobody was following me and I had no one to intreact with back, tumblr would be the thing i would check once every few days, it was nothing to me but a mere another google plus, until i was sponsored by catfood-mcfly back when he was running the Herpy Derpy blog, and thats where I got recognized and I was determined to continue my activity on tumblr as an ask blog, and I have gotten to become more interactive with people, being inspired by the many of the art I have been seeing from following other people, I would adopt and experiment with what I saw mostly shines through their art, and 2012 was the year I have made the biggest change in my art throughout the months, whitin 6-8 months I have improved by a ton! tumblr was a very resourceful to the evolution of my art! and I also made so many friends and I have as well learned to become a better person! I am a better person of who I used to be in the past, and i am still improving! there are still a lot of things I need to work about myself as a person!
Also stepping out of drawing in flash and starting doing my stuff in sai was revolutionary to my art, flash back then wasnt recognized fully as an animators program by macromedia and neither by adobe, as they saw it an all purpose program for making goptimized ames and ads, only until all browsers and webpages grew out of flash and flash officially was blocked by all browsers since you could have implanted malicious codes into flash files, only then flash recognized as an art and animation tool for creators.
So moving to sai allowed me to build sketches and bodies easily and paint and yadda yadda and it was all great and helped boosting my art upwards
Flash limited my improvement as I wasnt drawing sketches on flash since you couldnt just lower the opacity of the layer you drew the sketch on, you would have to go through several actions to achieve that, but you would be lowering the opacity of your selected drawing and not the layer, I couldnt also paint on flash and flash ever since the stone age had those horrible vector tools that SUCKED DICK unless you do stretching and smoothing and fixing, in my opinion at least, they did improve the vector system a bit BUT IT STILL SUCKS, i prefer bitmap brushes more, which why I prefer Toon Boom harmony as a program for animators.
If you have been back in the days, you could have watched me go through a several phases! like drawing like atryl, raikissu’s shading and coloring styles, florecentmoo’s shading techniques and eye pupil style, and I uhh.. dont remember the rest, but theres have been a lot of artists out there whom I adopted artistic traits like:
theflyingtacoz, kittentoots(drunk fluttershy), w300, Santi, belaboy, dr idiot, inzergue (big impact on my current style), David (the guy who now works on mighty magiswords along with kyle), fungasm, colorlesscupcake (known as caek now), ahappypichu (a pretty powerful current impact on how i paint my art today), uhh, also “pinkie in private” which, to this day, drawing the way the draw the cheek for their characters, and some other artists I that I couldnt come up in my mind but I did adapt a trait or two from.
My current big inspirations are artists who work on OK KO and as fake as it might sound, my own fiance! yes!! they have been an inspiration for me for quite a while even back at 2012, but to how I viewed it, I never really dared to adopt anything from them because I was so out of their league, and my art was still shaping and i already had ideas that I wouldnt think would work if i mixed some of their’s, but now that my art have been developed and has a solid state of how it looks, they inspire me so much!!
Drawing ponies was probably the best practice I have ever had that thanks to that I have pushed so far in the art that I do, ponies are so simplified!! and easy to draw! it allowed me to produce more and that means that it allowed me to experience differently with each time!
It helped me improve with a lot of stuff like gesture, facial and painting and other other minor stuff! drawing ponies was such a booster seat for me!
But unfortunately, from drawing ponies alot you wont learn how to draw humans, which understanding muscle, action line, figure and bones is so crucial for drawing, anything really! understanding how the body works is extremely fundamental and its there for you to know how to manipulate the drawings your making, of any specie, its not there to just teach you how to draw the anatomy of the human body, that will only serve as a plus.
I have learned a lot from ponies but how bodies work and draw clothes lmafo, to this day I cant draw clothes for days
in 2014 I ordered a really good book and I have polished my anatomy and human drawing skills, I yet dont know some stuff because i stopped practicing because of varios reason like relationship, access and physical health.
In the begging of the year I acquired a cintiq and it been nothing but dreadful to me, but im using it because i spent.. so much money on it.. and i have been so concerned about bringing it to my home country as well.. but it has the adventage of a screen so...
its just, I dont have a low enough desktop or high enough chair to draw on it, its always above my shoulder no matter the angle and it puts so much weight on my shoulders, the thing is heavy too so its not something you could lean on your legs while you draw, neither it is portable, it made work much more harder and difficult and I wasnt drawing as frequesnt because my time wasnt so so enjoyable, my 2015 as well become a dreadful year to me and I was feeling guilty and shitty everyday, and it was my fault because it was all my doing and i let myself feel that way, and I had barely the stamina to work on my art ever over the year, I also lost my passion and motivation to draw and basically it dragged also to 2016, I drew a few commissions but I didnt produce much art neither, then I flew over the united states and I didnt have acess to drawing for 4 months as i was away from my equipment, my fiance had the equipment, but that means that I would have to use their computer for all the dedicated hours I use to work on my art and they would have nothing but a mere phone to entertain themselves, also our time togehter was really precious and every minute counted, so we rathered having fun other than doing work work work
2017 came and I still had the sense of drawing lost in me, I would draw whenever i would have a piece of paper available to me since I find fun in that, since im comfortable and cozy and i dont have to concentrate the entirety of my body weight on my hand and arm as i draw, but I would never draw on the cintiq unless its a miracle or if had a crazy comic idea in mind that i had and MUST HAD executed, i almost didnt draw anything in 2017, and neither in this year but the ok ko drawing i have recently created, but I found a new comfortable focus and its doing 3d, I am using my mouse to do everything and i dont have to feel my horrible chair scraping againt my butt like sandpaper, and I dont to feel like my shoulders are about to give up, I did try Tam’s 13hd and it was so much more comfortable and nice to draw on as i could put it on the bed or on my legs, but I cant afford another expensive piece of equipment, especially not in this generation of technology, wacom fucking sucks but no other brand is willing to be their competitive because tablet is not the purchase the average person would make.
Another reason why I have been so held on drawing and using the cintiq, which was probably the most major thing was it’s total, hot flaming shitty garbage diarrhea poopy stank abysmal horrible disgusting nasty dumbass smelly drivers which made every chance i had to draw a miss because i would battle myself from 30 minutes to over a hour fixing my tablet to draw a single thing, and its been like that every time i would turn my cintiq on! the situation was severe and everytime i would find a solution, it would be later suppressed, it was so harsh that i had a few months in which nothing I would do would make the drivers function, i was basically tabletless, so many, and a lot of opportunities for me to create a piece of drawing was flushed in the toilet with the rest, and so it was a deeper burden on my passion, determination and motivation to draw.
But yeah, now im doing 3d and it feels like a fresh hobby to me since I felt that im not going anywhere in and with my art (even though I yet have to learn how to draw bodies better, let alone drawing limbs, feet and CLOTHES!!)
and now the future has yet to be revealed!

rosenmarille’s embroidery tutorial
hey anon you made my entire week and i love you
Let me preface this by saying that I’m in no way an expert and I’ve literally only been doing this for less than a month, so most of what I do is making it up as I go along. hopefully you find my tips helpful though!! <3
I wasnt sure which part you wanted to know about so i made a rundown of everything from start to end
1) List of things you’ll need:
Embroidery frame (I just went to the nearest crafts store and got them in two sizes. Theyre quite cheap and sometimes also come in plastic or different shapes)
Fabric (the less stretchy the better, though if youre planning to decorate clothing I think it really depends on how determined you are. what ive got here is some leftover polyester fabric from cosplay and other sewing projects. you can even sew different pieces together if one isnt big enough for the frame but in that case you need to iron the sewed piece flat or else it will be very difficult to keep straight and neat)
Embroidery yarn (see pic) (theres two types, and ive only used pearl yarn (top) so far but the other one allows for more precision since you can pick how many strands of yarn you need)
Needle (see pic) (properly pointy, not like the crappy one above. I mainly use that for crochet things because it actually bends and that’s NOT what you want here)
Scissors and a pencil
2) Sketch: Pick an image of what you want to do. I’ve found that at first, practicing with basic shapes and colours is a lot easier to get used to the whole thing, it helps give you a feel of how the yarn ends up looking stitched to the fabric. So far I almost only did screenshots, and I didn’t have to draw something up myself. In mobs case, I based it off a doodle I did in class and added a little colour to it
3) Pick fabric and yarn: That’s mainly up to you, depends on what youre going for, but as a fair warning, very light fabric colours will show the stitches and leftover yarn from behind, so you need to tuck them behind the main body of your embroidery later on
4) Apply to fabric: 2 ways, both pretty much self explanatory, only heres where the stretchiness of the fabric comes into play. As you can see ive developed a fool proof technique, ive had tape stuck to the top of my laptop for weeks now, im not about to waste it? (use more than one tape, this is an old pic i took because the concept was hilarious in the moment) Pro tip: don’t draw your sketch on paper advertising dnd game sets because youre gonna have a hard time seeing the pattern through everything and youll curse yourself for doing that instead of paying attention in class Pro tip 2: dark fabrics demand a white colour pencil, you literally wont be able to see anything else
5) Stitches: heres a LINK to the page I use to find all the different stitches I could possibly use. Practice makes perfect, i spent about two hours trying each of these out on an irrelevant piece of fabric to see how theyd work and how difficult they are, and still use that bit as ref to consider how a stitch would look on my current piece. Of these, ive only used about three in my finished broids, since theyre mostly for decorative things I think. Don’t let that stop you though, get creative and use the things im too lazy to incorporate!! (ill be using these terms for the rest of the tutorial, so if you dont know a word its probably in there)
6) Outlines/shading: Start by outlining your sketch with a few backstitches to get a feel for where everything needs to be. If theres shading then itd be useful to do those lines in the other colour already, or youre going to have to fix all that later and itll be a huge pain and make you want to stop altogether. It happens
Im not sure if that’s how its supposed to work but I fill in the shades first, it gives me a good sense of what direction the main colour stitches need to go to make it look dynamic.
7) Fill in mains: This is where all those handy dandy stitches from that library probably wont help you too much if you want to do something relatively simple. Ive only used normal satin stitches to fill in colour so far, though what the link doesn’t mention is that it wastes a shitton of yarn. Yarn is expensive, so what you can do is come up for point 3 not back next to 1 but instead next to 2. Warning: that does warp the way the yarn lies though, so use that one accordingly (for example: I do Not use it when doing small delicate places, or things that need to be detailed in general)
Mob was fairly simple as far as that went since i didnt add a lot of pattern, but ritsu is a little more complicated. Like i said earlier, adding shade before the main colour helps because now i know where the folds in his clothes are and how the fabric would bend to accommodate it.
8) Add details (like faces!):
Again, here I cant tell you exactly how you need to stitch to get everything looking good, just try to follow the way a face has its dynamics. Is it a long face, make lots of long vertical stitches, is it a round one, try to stick to the edges (but don’t spiral)
Facial features are a little more difficult because its hard to make a round nub or dots for pupils on something very small but its better to try 5 times and get it right the 6th instead of leaving the 1st try (i took ritsus entire face apart at least 3 times and t b q h i still think it doesnt look good but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯)
9) Background: Get real fancy on that shit, heres where you can try out those cool rose shaped stitches from up there in the link, go wild lol
10) Lastly: PATIENCE
I cant stress this enough, this WILL take a loooot of time, the first ritsu I did took me a literal week, while the second one took me roughly four hours in total (and that was a rather simple design).
Accept the fact that it wont look as good as you imagined it. That may sound harsh but for me that’s been my main issue, imagining how a string would lie exactly and then looking on in disgust when that doesn’t work out. You’re not drawing, the medium doesn’t exactly translate, but that doesn’t have to be a bad thing! Try to figure out what methods work best for embroidery exclusively.
Don’t be afraid to undo, be careful about it though. I use those big scissors and it’s a bad idea, don’t do that. Unpicking from the back to save the yarn also works but it gets difficult (and at some point impossible) once the strands start getting woven together on their own
And there you have it, a finished piece of embroidery!!
You can now either hang it up in its frame and cut away the excess fabric at the sides or tie it around a piece of cardboard like so. it’s a little hard to get right at first but practice amiright
I hope i could be of help!! if you have any more questions feel free to come to my ask anytime!! ^^ <33
#embroidery#pari stickt#tutorial#i still cant believe someone actually asked me to do this#anon who are you i want to hug you omg#also i hope you see this??? id have tagged you :0

The day is like any other day in konoha The sun is high in the sky the trees green as ever. Our story begins in the office of the hokage lady tsunade one of the three ledgendary sanin but you know all that already. The real hero has yet to arrive.. tsunade: where is that lazy runt…..*a vein pulses on her forehead *. Meanwhile *explosions rumble all through the forest* Kuroku: *picks up the remnants of a soccer ball* all right! I think ive got my new jutsu down! Noodle noggin wont know what hit him *kuroku cackles triumphantly as he stands behind a blackened and burnt section of forest* *a bird caws above* kuroku: wasnt i supposed to meet lady tsunade for a mission today? OH CRAP I WAS SUPPOSED TO MEET LADY TSUNADE FOR A MISSION TODAY. *throwing up a series of hand signs kuroku vanishes in a cloud of insects* a few moments later *tsunades door slides open kuroku walks in casually* kuroku:Yo oppaikage hows things? Tsunade: *retaliates by bashing kuroku back out the door with her fist* *insects scatter about and fly out the window revealing kurokus puppet the hive split in to its three parts to avoid tsunades impact* *the hive clanks and whirls and clicks as it opens its mouth. kurokus voice eventually is heard* Kuroku: i figured youd do something like that so please hear me out im sorry for being late i was in the middle of training. Tsunade: *some what impressed at the fluidity of both the aburame clans insect jutsu but also the puppet master jutsu* i suppose for just this once your forgiven..*tsunade coughs in an attempt to look stern as she returns to her desk* Tsunade: your mission is to go check up on the uzumaki bridge. We've been hired to check up on its construction. Kuroku: Did you say the uzumaki bridge……….*kuroku keeps his cool on the outside but on the inside his inner monologue says* “WHY IS IT THAT ORANGE JUMPSUIT WEARIN PUNK ALWAYS GETS THE GOOD MISSIONS AND WHO THE HELL GETS A FLIPPING BRIDGE NAMED AFTER THEM AS FAR AS IM CONCERNED THAT BRIDGE SHOULD HAVE BEEN THE ABURAME BRIDGE BUT NOOO SOMEONE HAS TO BE SOME SORT OF MYSTICAL FAVORITE” Kuroku: it seems like more of a chore than a mission lady tsunade… Tsunade: of course it does because nothing should happen thats why im sending you alone the rest of your team is busy with the cafinic anyways. Kuroku: uhhg ok ill take the mission. Tsunade: kuroku what ever happens do not destroy that bridge. Kuroku: uhg fiiiiiine. *a short walking montage and several filler episodes later* *kuroku arrives as the village the bridge was being built from* *kuroku walking ever so casually notices something off about the bridge* kuroku: its the middle of the day i woulda imagined someone would be using the bridge by now. *he ponders for a moment and becomes hysterical* MAYBE ITS BECAUSE THE PEOPLE WHO MET HIM ARE TOO DISGUSTED TO USE IT BAHAHHAHAHA *an arrow flys through the air and sinks into kurokus chest* kuroku:wha….*kuroku falls onto his back* *three bandits walk out of the mist up to kurokus lifeless body* Bandit1: good shot Bandit3: it was nothin his cackling made it even easier to hit him. Bandit2: *remains silent but begins to scratch his rib* Bandit1:youd think one arrow wouldnt have killed a leaf shinobi…. *Kurokus voice can be heard as bugs begin to scatter across the bandits feet revealing the hive* Hive: i was having a good laugh and you go and shoot me?! Well now your gunna get it! *two katana like blades pop out of the hives two upper most arms as the second head at the end of the tail opens its mouth and begins to fire senbon at the three bandits* *the bandits struggle to avoid the blades and senbon with only one of them actually being hit* Bandit1: WHY DONT YOU COME OUT AND FIGHT?! BANDIT2: YEAH HIDING IS FOR COWARDS! *bandit2 falls over* Bandit2: guys i cant feel my legs or my arms! Hive: ok 1...im a ninja hiding is kinda our thing. Oh and 2 scissor beetles. *two large beetles with scythe like pincers snip their way out of the bandits stomach and fly back onto the hive* Bandit1: THATS IT. *the bandit draws the large hammer on his back and smashes downward at the hive but the hive splits into its three parts and stands around the large bandit* * the three parts speak in unison* Hive: kikaichu no jutsu: insect fog *the three parts open their mouths as a swarm of insects pour out and cover the head of bandit1* Bandit1: I CANT SEE *The bandit runs in circles trying to claw the bugs off his face and just as they all clear off the bandit turns to attack a second time but after a few steps falls over and smashes his head into the concrete* *the 3 parts become one and jump back to just barely within visible range with in the mist as kuroku strolls out of the thick mist Kuroku: special technique: Heavy larva *two fat maggots poke out of the shoulders of bandit1* Bandit2: uhhhh I give up? Kuroku: sadly im not the forgiving type besides ive been wanting to try this out. *kuroku puts up a one handed handsign and the bandits rib explodes as he gets launched across the other side another explosion happens just before he lands blasting him in another direction and it happens again and again as he gains speed accelerating down the bridge eventually into a web of paperbombs and as they ignight kuroku turns around and adjusts his shades and starts walking away ((middle finger anime style btw)) kuroku: special technique: aburame pinball. Kuroku eventually returns to tsunade and only gets semi chewed since the bridge was only moderatly damaged FIN.

My 1st intros to Hostas were actually 4 small environment-friendly and white lumps bordering a little section of my mommy- in- regulations garage.
