rafe is ecstatic about the prospect of another kid, and he shows it. he’s constantly spoiling his girl, always doting on her and helping her around the house. he makes sure to hire staff around tannyhill and ensure she doesn’t have to stress, making sure to spend time each night with his family despite the chaos of his day. rafe knows her first pregnancy wasn’t the best (bc of him) and he wants to give her a whole new experience

as his fiancée and mother of his child, high school gf is living good. rafe is struggling with his father’s death, but mostly, they’re happy - really, really happy. charlie is starting to speak, and he is so excited to have a baby sister

Sonic HATES Being Wrong

Like…to an extreme degree. Let me elaborate.

This is a very interesting detail I’ve noticed ever since I made my Sonic’s Flaws post. Here, I’d like to talk about Sonic’s most fatal flaw because this conversation gets interesting. The flaw is one every variation of Sonic can be guilty of and one that causes the most damage to his world and even the people he cares about. If you disagree, I understand. Just hear me out and even if I don’t convince you, I hope this turns out to be a fun read regardless. Feel free to give me some context, correct me, or add information if you‘d like.

The Flaw

Sonic is terribly pertinacious and stubborn. Most people would think of Sonic Prime where he doesn’t listen to his friends warning him to not destroy the paradox prism, but when I think of Prime!Sonic I don't think of that. Especially since this version comes off more as an inexperienced teenager trying to figure things out. While in the games, he’s portrayed as rarely being wrong. Not because he’s perfect, but because Sonic never feels the need to change because of past victories. After all, if everything is going his way, why should he change, right? Well, this can be a problem. The scene in S3 ep3 where a few of the pirates were lost at sea, shows how truly stubborn Prime!Sonic (and Sonic in general), can be. He verbally refuses to take accountability for lost resources and unknowingly helps Nine have better predominance over them.

In this scene, No Place was decaying and Sonic finds out that the other pirate crew was stuck there. Everyone else, even the villains, reasonably says it’s too risky and he ignores them. Of course, he is within reason but if things went sour, it would’ve been his fault. Especially since that almost became a reality before the Chaos Council swooped in to help.

Near the end of the episode, Sonic says it’s a win for everyone, but Mr. Doc says, “Was it? Your little friends are safe, but at what cost? The fox can conjure up more minions with the snap of his fingers. Whereas our fleet is damaged, our troops are spent, and we’re almost out of time.” Surprisingly reasonable call out of the consequences of saving the pirates, if they don’t have enough resources, they were even more screwed than before. Then Sonic says, “I’m sorry but losing anyone is not an option.” While it’s warranted and makes sense for his character, it almost comes across as “We had to save them because I said so.” This is an example of Sonic not having a good argument by addressing the results of their battle. He does it a lot more than you’d think. Despite Sonic not listening to people being a bigger staple of Prime, I personally think it’s never expanded upon or executed well. Not to me anyway, but I don’t mind anyone disagreeing.

In any case, Sonic, as a character in every continuity, tends to “follow by his own rules” but this can be perceived negatively as “doing whatever he wants no matter who argues with him.”

Examples

Sonic Boom Rise of Lyric tackles this too. This is probably the least serious example but still can be a problem sometimes. This is S2 Ep 19 when an Eggman robot Clone tries to break Team Sonic apart and almost succeeds too. It doesn’t have much to do with this topic but I do like how in this episode when the drama started happening, Sonic for once in his life tries to talk about his feelings with Tails who turned out to be Steve. I know this has nothing to do with this discussion, but I just thought it was a funny thing to point out. The one time Sonic tries to talk about his feelings, he gets the door slammed in his face. It’s so mean-spirited and stupid. I love Sonic Boom!

But yeah, Rise Of Lyric also shows how his stubbornness can end up with the world being at stake. Or in the case of this episode have your friends grow apart.

The Sonic Movies tackles his shortcomings perfectly. I think he's pretty impulsive in all 3 movies. Mixing his perniciousness doesn't create the greatest meal. He's younger, so that would be expected. This scene is the most recent example. Sonic as a character tends to live in the moment and here, Movie!Sonic is playing a huge role in this category. He’s not even trying to hear anyone out. He’s in a constant rage at this point and can’t think clearly. He wants revenge on Shadow so much he loses himself. His brothers are so loyal to still allow him to get the Master Emerald despite knowing he wants it for revenge. Sonic's so hurt, he even forgets what they originally were there for.

I'm sure if Sonic choose to let his feelings consume him, he probably wouldn’t have saved the world. Why? Let’s just say things would’ve went out of control without Shadow. Sonic dogged a big tangent bullet for having mercy on Shadow.

Yeah, Archie/Reboot Archie didn’t mess around either. I'd say it’s sometimes as tense and bit worse due to him having the biggest ego and ongoing trauma. I'm surprised he didn't go insane. Notice how harsh he is in these instances. He’s overly angry here. Luckily, he has a large group of friends to help him take things down a peg and reminds him how they have his back. Even when worst comes to worst (which is an understatement), his friends are able to get him out of that mindset and put him back in reality. Hunbel him to put it bluntly.

In a way, Sonic's flaws in the Archie comics make me think he feels so guilty that he pushes himself beyond his limits as a way to make up for his loudmouth. Like in other versions, he feels the need to take on more than he can physically handle. He strains his body, mind, and entire being to accomplish tasks on his own because he believes he deserves the punishment. Alternatively, he might just be exhausting himself and attempting to take on more than he can manage. It’s not surprising, really.

These panels are insane for letting Eggy make a valid point. You can tell by his ears how Sonic’s getting visibly irritated. By the end of the argument, he gets super mad and can’t even find a good quip to back himself up. Because in a way, he knows Eggman has a point. That’s how I interpret it anyway.

Game or IDW Sonic is usually in denial when it comes to being wrong. He doesn’t address the issues directly but the person who calls him out for it instead. He’s the most experienced Sonic. I know some people use “mature” but I think experience is a better term due to how he doesn’t have arcs or character growth like other characters. More so he’s used to this song and dance, so his hatred towards being wrong comes from a place of thinking he’s got everything under control. Until it bites him in the butt.

You notice in most of these Sonic’s pretty angry and isn’t the biggest fan of being told off. Even in different continuities, the guy cannot argue without not being self-aware most of the time. The funny thing is he isn’t doing it selfishly. At least not in a typical way. To me, Sonic is the least selfish character in the franchise for a good chunk of the series. He sacrifices himself, gives people more chances than they deserve, and even takes the time to stop his main goals if it means helping someone else. But the guy cannot take the time to admit he’s wrong or his morals have consequences. Not because Sonic thinks he’s better than everyone. I don’t think Sonic sees himself in that way, but I do think he’s always in “I’ve done this thing plenty of times. As long as this thing works, I’ll keep doing it,” mode. Or in the case of Movie!Sonic, goes on instinct which is also a common part of his characterization.

Why Sonic Has This Flaw

Sonic never stops running; he charges head-first into any situation, always striving to do what's right. After all, he's the fastest thing alive. Sonic doesn't have the luxury of questioning himself or dwelling on doubts. While it's true that he has caused some issues, including in the games, he doesn't waste time feeling sorry for himself. The only times he's shown insecurity were during the Metal Virus arc, so interpret that as you wish.

This brings up another point. Crazy how much I didn’t notice, but most of the time, Sonic doesn’t like it when people disagree with him. Understandable, everyone doesn’t want to be wrong. But he takes it to the extreme at times. Like sometimes he's baffled when anyone challenges him. Sonic’s also never truly called out by the right people. I don’t mean Shadow, Espio, Knuckles, or the villains. I mean, Amy, Tails, Tangled, or other characters he’s inspired. People who look up to him. Sure, they try, but I can count on one hand how many times he actually listens. Sonic’s always so caught up in doing things his way that he disregards people who mean the most to him.

I mentioned this in my other post but he doesn't listen to Tails in Sonic 06 or Lost World, so the games count.

While Sonic often has valid points in his arguments with others, he frequently comes across as someone who needs to be right. He rarely allows others the opportunity to express their views or admits when he is wrong. This issue is often overlooked in stories where these conflicts arise, either because there isn't enough time to address them or they remain unanswered altogether. This makes sense, considering that Sonic typically doesn’t undergo character arcs canonically. However, I appreciate the presence of characters like Shadow, Knuckles, Surge, Kit, and certain Archie characters like Scurge. They serve to challenge Sonic’s morals and illustrate that he isn’t always correct. If Sonic isn’t going to evolve as a character, at least these figures can show that his sense of freedom and living by his own rules doesn’t work for everyone. They can be portrayed negatively and can challenge his viewpoints. They can be questioned. They can be challenged. Sonic isn’t always right.

His passion shows that he truly wants things to work for everyone. His stubbornness drives him to the point of frustration as he strives to help others to live according to his ideals. However, at times his approach isn’t the most effective. You can see that Sonic genuinely hates this, yet he continues to push forward to help those in need. There’s something both beautiful and heartbreaking about that.

Conclusion

What’s funny is that Sonic rarely gets angry, so you could say this could be one of his few triggers. Along with people being unjust and other such.

Overall, Sonic has good intentions but the results of those intentions are severe. None of this is to imply Sonic’s a terribly written character. It’s just a serious flaw he has. Though listening to his friends more would help.

I’d be lying if I said I wouldn’t like a moment of his friends noticing a constant pattern of him being pertinacious and not paying attention to anyone’s protest. I wouldn’t want it to come out of nowhere, but it’d be an issue that’d progress over a large amount of time and add up. It could be dramatic or constructive depending on the situation and execution. Whatever character does it, they’d either talk to him about it or physically show the outcomes of his actions. They do it all the time in other media but not canonically. This is just random speculation though. I don’t know if I’m in over my head but I hope someone got something out of this.

All of this is not to say Sonic never takes accountability or listens to his friends. SA1 scene with Amy, when he apologizes to Bell in IDW for being too standoffish, and plenty of other examples. Like the end of Sonic movie 3. That Sonic Boom episode where he apologized for not working with his team. And endless moments in Archie and Reboot Archie. Sonic isn’t unreasonable. Just 9 times out of 10 he can get a big head. That’s all.

Buffy 3x14. Faith speculates that Buffy loves being a slayer and killing the bad guys, but Buffy denies it. Later on, Faith is playing a typical "bad guy (girl) who corrupts the good girl and brings out the darkness out of her," and it's fascinating to see that Faith is actually right about Buffy

She does enjoy killing, stabbing, figting, and taking some steam off by being a slayer. But she clearly denies it at this point because her friends, Giles and Angel wouldn't understand. They all run away from violence, especially Angel, with his "I'm no longer that evil vampire" attitude

And I see this whole episode as a big foreshadowing for later seasons. She'd explore that side of her more and will eventually bring it all out on Spike. Spike that would be the only person to understand that side of her again

Because this episode? After Buffy showed Angel just a little bit of fierce violent Buffy, he immediately went like, "Calm down, Buffy, let's talk seriously"? Pretty much shows us that Angel loved just one side of her, the good naive Buffy who always behaves a certain way, and that's why they romance couldn't work past s3 at all. Although I do understand that there are always monsters and saving the world situations but I feel like they don't work beside that. At all

And Spike? Spike could never do something like that. Give him good naive Buffy, give him fierce cruel Buffy, give him insecure and weak Buffy, and he'll accept every single version of her without any doubts

Anyways uh. Nezha's first introduction in season 3 came out in like, what, 2022? I'm assuming it is, because I started LMK in March of 2023, before s4 was released and already found the show up till s3 by then. S5 just released this year, of which we've seen a weird increase of Nezha screentime of which I'm not complaining.

Point blank. The Nezha age controversies are getting old and boring. New fans and old fans need to chill out with those issue about the age business.

1) It's confirmed the Lego Monkie Kid version of the deity known as Nezha is an adult.

2) This is a god of an Eastern religion who is still very much worshipped to our modern day. If you did your research, you should be able to take note that Nezha isn't only seen as a child god, but even portrayed as someone older. I'm not a Daoist nor Chinese, so I advise you check this blog ( @/ruibaozha ) for more information on the subject matter.

3) As is the case with modern media and adaptations, different shows will portray religious figures according to what works for their plot. In the movie Nezha 2019 (forgot the title whoops), Nezha is portrayed as a child, as we are seeing a comedic but angsty interpretation of his origins. In the Legend Of Hei, we see him portrayed as a child, assuming for comedic purposes and to bond with the MC Hei.

3.2) If LMK wanted to portray Nezha as a child like his appearances in Journey To The West, and the Fengshen Yanyi (?), you must understand then his design and personality would've been portrayed more childish or at the very least a mixture of mature and childish. We can see this by comparing LMK Nezha and TLOH Nezha = both are stern but where one acts, looks and often shows childish traits, the other acts like an exhausted 25 year old who needs therapy. LMK HAS made children in the past, as we've seen with the Lady Bone Demon's Host and in season 1 a few kids here and there as background characters. If the show wanted Nezha to be a child, I'm certain they would've given him a similar model.

4) If in the instance that, let's say, the god known as Nezha was a child, and LMK Nezha is an adult, you SHOULD separate fiction from religion. Do keep in mind that Sun Wukong is still very much worshipped, however, I have seen fans, in and outside of LMK, who have written heavy NSFW and simped for him. A god is not the same as a fictional character, because by that logic we shouldn't be simping much less writing NSFW of Wukong either, given his story in JTTW where he becomes a Buddha.

5) I do not like proshipping much like any sane person. I also HATE aging up minors in fiction just for something like self shipping or to write nsfw. I have been in fandoms before this one: Jujutsu Kaisen, Tokyo Revengers, and My Hero Academia specifically, and it makes me uncomfortable seeing porn written of actual minors with excuse of them being aged up. I'm not so hypocritical I'd dare to want to do the same, not when I'm uncomfortable with anyone else doing it. If LMK Nezha was a minor, and there were sources to even prove as well within the series he's a child, then obviously, I would NOT be shipping myself with him, much less write romantic/nsfw content with him. I'm an adult, and I don't feel comfortable with minors in general, so why would I want to write romantic content about a FICTIONAL minor??

If you can find any source that proves me wrong, I'd like for you to do so. But until then, you, and everyone else who still wants to entertain Nezha's age; please stop.

I get it. Some of you like to headcanon him as a child so as such, seeing content with him as romantic or nsfw is uncomfortable. I understand, I do; I headcanon Mei as an aroace lesbian so sometimes it's uncomfortable finding any kind of content with her being paired with others. I do understand where you're coming from with your discomfort.

But I feel like, considering season 5 and hopefully if there's a season 6, the whole thing is just dust now. S3 must've been released in 2022, so it's been nearly two years since Nezha's appearance in the show. People headcanon he's a child, and people prefer to like the confirmation he's an adult. We get it, that's what fandoms are, different views etc.

But calling people proshippers or creepy or pedophiles for not adhering to YOUR headcanons is not only fucking stupid, it's just hilarious and way too old, AND just...boring. Especially considering I feel uncomfortable around minors and hate proshipping with a passion. There's genuinely nothing wrong with liking a headcanon, but if someone likes something that isn't problematic and doesn't adhere to your preference, I think you need to breathe a bit.

I was saving this off for last however, you hit the nail on the coffin with this. There is a literal document talking about the disgusting actions of DynamicSimp. If you still choose to like them that's fine, but forgive me for pointing out how hypocritical it is for you to bring up the person who purposely shared porn with minors to someone who avoids minors like they're the rat plague of the Middle Ages. 🤔

Okay, so while I do appreciate being told the reasons as to WHY Nezha was "aged up", because a writer wanted to justify shipping Wukong and Nezha...I feel like the entire, "ah, but this says, and that says here-" about Nezha's age is just ridiculous at this point.

However.

Has anyone else refuted Nezha's age?? And I mean the canon show writers? Has anyone working on Lego Monkie Kid made a statement saying: "This person is disgusting, LMK Nezha is a child." Because, respectfully, unless canon sources provide information on it, I'm not going off based on the fandom opinions.

I'm not happy I have to edit this post to add this, much less try to explain anything, but, oh well.

1) "Ali, you're just trying to justify yourself and keep writing for a child." Listen. I've been groomed and dealt with fucking weirdos my entire life. Trust me when I say whenever I hear about proshipping it SICKENS me to the core. I HATE proshipping. I don't care what the excuse is, proshipping is disgusting.

I'm not mentioning the interesting fellows in my comments because it's pointless and honestly to make drama over this is stupid. But I was given some context to understand where they're coming from, and I do in fact appreciate it. Justifiably I don't blame them for their annoyance/disgust towards the writer Sarah (?).

What I will say though; typically in a situation like this, I'm certain someone in the team would've made a statement about this to explain that the writer is wrong. I'd assume at least one writer, someone OFFICIALLY on the team would've denied this proclamation of Nezha being an adult. I have not seen ANYTHING that says the show denies Nezha being an adult.

2) My friend, who was also in the comments (hi), is a native Chinese and a Buddhist for six years. I also have another friend who I'm not mentioning but ALSO is Chinese and WORSHIPS Nezha. They have more knowledge than someone like me does have on this matter, and I find it really odd how people immediately cite wiki and website sources to say, "Nezha is an eternal child!", and, "No where else says Nezha is an adult."

As I've said. If there are sources including the staff from Lego Monkie Kid that claims Nezha is a child, then I am more than willing to delete any content I've made with him. Full honesty, I have no intention of keeping any content with canon, confirmed minors on my blog.

But not only have I found anything that says the official story writers deny Nezha's an adult, but my friends, who are again, both Daoist and native Chinese, are aware that he ISN'T an eternal child.

If you are Daoist and/or worship Nezha, then by all means you can tell me that what I'm doing is wrong and correct me about Nezha's age. I'm willing to listen. If you also find information where the writers claim Saraha is wrong for her statement, provide it. I'm a person that likes reasoning, and I'm willing to see reason.

3) "Ali, you're not gonna see reason you're just trying to defend yourself again-"

Okay, backstory time: last year when I joined LMK, when I myself was a minor, I thought it was okay to write nsfw content for the character who was Lady Bone Demon's Host. My friends at the time did not tell me what I was doing was bad, so of course I kept it up, until someone pointed out that Bai He (fan name) is actually a minor in the show and was also confirmed by the show's producers. I felt so disgusted about it I deleted all my posts made on my old AO3 about her (which is faeriicrafts and still up surprisingly) and offered a sincere apology to the fandom about writing nsfw content for her. I changed and learned, and now I feel grossly uncomfortable seeing anyone writing nsfw for her despite the canon confirmations.

Justifiably, if more information about Nezha is released within Lego Monkie Kid, of which it's confirmed he's a child, I am more than eager to delete everything I've written about him, and even apologize again for writing nsfw with a minor.

To be honest, I just feel uncomfortable with the comments who are denying actual Daoists for the sake of; "I've done my research, no other sources has said Nezha is an adult, you're lying about worshipping him!!"

It's uncomfortable and really off-putting how you can tell someone that about their religion. Yes, this is for you specifically, that one commenter who jumped in and on my friend. Even if she has long since stopped worshipping Nezha, she very much did once. And I've gone to actual Daoists to ask more information about Nezha and the religion in general, who has in fact confirmed Nezha isn't just a child. I get that this is the internet, people can lie about anything. But it's still uncomfortable, solely because had anyone else claimed they're Daoist or ex Daoist and agreed with your opinion, you wouldn't have said that.

I'll reopen my comments within a few minutes, but don't be a disrespectful cunt. And can you maybe not deny someone about their religion? Even if you don't believe them, that's genuinely not an excuse. Because I know damn well, had she agreed with your statement, you wouldn't have pulled that.

Anyways, I've said my piece. If official show writers (because my Daoist friends have already told me what I needed to know) claim Nezha is a child, I'll delete my stuff with him. If not, then I'm not stopping posting Nezha content.

The difference between Mike's relationship with El and his relationship with Will is CHOICE. Mike chose alright, and he chose WILL and continues to choose Will again and again. What makes Mike and El's relationship special is that Mike didn't choose El. El showed up at his doorstep at a time when she was vulnerable and endangered, and Mike took her in and loved and accepted her unconditionally. Will, on the other hand, didn't stumble into Mike's life. From the very beginning, he was hand-picked: "So I asked. I asked if you wanted to be my friend. And you said yes. You said yes. It was the best thing I've ever done."

There has yet to be a time in the series when Mike chooses El over Will for more than a temporary amount of time. In s1, Mike cares for El, but his priority is always finding Will, even to the point at which he is willing to defame El and decimate his relationship with her when he believes her to be responsible for bad things happening to Will. In s2, Mike is always at Will's side, even sleeping next to him and constantly wanting to protect Will from the harm others are trying to cause him. In s3, Max says that Mike will "come crawling back" to El after the fight, but Mike actually ends up ignoring his conflict with El so that he can go apologize to and mend his relationship with Will. Similar thing happens in s4. He seems to "choose" El initially in Lenora, but he spends the rest of the season rekindling and nurturing his relationship with Will. Will Will Will. It's always been Will for him and it will always be Will.

Milkvans really have an easier time believing that Mike is a heterosexual boy who magically, whimsically, mysteriously is only attracted to one girl he met when he was twelve years old than that he MIGHT be not be 100% straight. It's bizarre bc what they're proposing would be so much more unusual than Mike just being queer. Like, us Bylers, we believe that Mike is in love with Will, but we don't deny Mike his sexuality and pretend that he's only ever been allowed to feel attraction for Will lmao. Take one look at that boy in s4 and it's so easy to tell that he is a gay disaster who likes putting posters of muscly men on his walls and watching men get sweaty and wrestle each other. That little shit is GAYYYYY as hell, in love with Will or not. But you expect me to believe that Mike is a HETEROSEXUAL boy who does not experience any feelings or attraction to any girl besides El??? Now THAT would be infinitely more of a stretch and more unusual than Mike just being gay or bi. Allo cisheterosexual men aren't exactly known for displaying a lack of attraction or horniness towards women. Even if El WERE the only person Mike ever experiences attraction towards, it would be a stretch atp to call Mike allo and cishet. He'd be ace-spec or demisexual and probably still roped into the queer umbrella lmao. But that's a narrative that the Milkvans are equally uncomfortable with bc they'd rather leap over the moon to conjecture that Mike, against all odds, logic, evidence, and reasoning, is an allo cisheterosexual man than admit that he is queer. Make it make sense.

But by all means, if y'all redditors want to push the ace-spec Mike agenda, please do so, I will support it. But something tells me that's not quite the case and that you'd rather live in this fantasy world where your perfectly good, perfectly allo cishet, perfectly conforming version of Mike Wheeler is exclusively, only attracted to El Hopper. In reality, Mike doesn't choose El and never did. He chooses and is demonstrably attracted to Will throughout the entire show.

- taissa turner is the most intriguing of the central characters, and her storyline deserves the level of effort the writers put into it back in season 1.

- teen!misty was far too overhated in the first two seasons and I struggle to understand how people can understand shauna making poor decisions due to feeling overlooked in comparison to jackie, but couldn't understand why misty would do something awful as a consequence of being, narratively speaking, completely othered and isolated by her entire community. her actions were objectively wrong but it seems like more of the dislike towards teen misty stems from people finding her annoying rather than unnerving.

- I wish we saw more of nat and kevyn tan. I really enjoyed their dynamic during the brief period of time we got them, and I wish we could've seen them develop. the fact that they both died on the same day is very romeo-julietesque of them.

- I want to know more about adam. I know the concept of him being javi was scrapped, but I really want to know more about the final version of him the writers settled on — was he genuinely just interested in shauna? what did he know about the survivors?

- jeff's complete disregard for jackie makes me dislike him. it's not about the fact that he cheated on her as a teenager, but for as rude as the taylors were — how on earth could you bring up the fact that you cheated on their dead daughter at her birthday lunch? there is not a single moment in which he exhibits any sort of remorse or grief over what happened to her despite his teenage mistakes directly leading to her death (and him being aware of it).

- while I really enjoy young taivan and consider them to be the core romance of the show, I preferred tai and simone in the adult timeline. simone's presence didn't take away from taissa's own arc the way van's did, and I do think there's a reason as to why taissa married simone despite breaking up with van over her fears to come out of the closet. is it necessarily a romantic one? no, of course not, but it does paint that bond in a much deeper manner than the show portrayed it post-s1.

- sammy should have been the wilderness' child instead of callie.

- I don't hate adult melissa. I know people are a lot more attached to van and were devastated by her death, but I do think some of them are forgetting that melissa's would be murderer was right outside the door, and she saw an opportunity to escape and took it.

- mari being pit girl makes sense but it shouldn't have occurred until season 4, or they should've done the pacing differently in s3. the reveal felt rushed.

- I'm not sure if this is a controversial topic but I don't believe shauna would have hooked up with jeff if she actually believed jackie loved him. in the scene where jackie tells her she should've said "I love you" back to him, she seems rattled before asking her if she does — because the foundation of her justification for her betrayal had itself been rattled.

- perhaps contradictory to my previous point, but I don't believe that shauna was ever a 'good' person. I know people try to justify her by pointing out instances of her kindness and care for others early on, but one of the first acts we see her engage in is a heinous betrayal of one of the people closest to her. on the flipside, I also don't agree with the people who think she had no redeeming qualities due to that betrayal, when her scenes with javi and van show the opposite. it's okay to admit that the characters you root for did in fact start out as morally fallible individuals — I adore misty, yet I don't feel the need to justify her actions.

- I love lauren ambrose but altering the plot to make van a survivor really didn't benefit the adult timeline that much. (although I may change my opinion on this once I see taissa's season four arc.)

- I prefer adult shauna to teen shauna, mainly because I've always been a major melanie lynskey fan and I find her to be one of the most compelling figures on screen.

- I really liked mistywalter in season 2, and I enjoy walter as a character.

- I need to know who on earth was javi's friend.

- with how many crackships there are within the fandom, I really want to see more of them with taissa. I know she's one of the very rare few characters in a canon wlw relationship and that does play a part in the lack of them, but I really do like the concepts of tainat, taikilah and taijackie come to mind.

- mistynat > lottienat

- I really would have loved to see more of lottie and misty's dynamic !! in my head they're best friends who both understand what it's like to be different and help one another cope.

- jackieshauna being the most widely-known and popular yellowjackets ship is perfectly reasonable. there is an element of unfulfilled potential and grotesque tragedy that compels the masses to them and a significant portion of screentime is dedicated to them (with jackie continuing to appear in scenes with shauna postmortem).

- shauna was AN antler queen during the pit scene, but not THE antler queen. there is no one singular antler queen and we see the mantle pass through the seasons, and I think we will see tai in that role in season 4.

- shauna's most tragic relationship isn't that with jackie or with her son, but rather with callie. the scene where she places her 16yo daughter's bunny in her bed next to her breaks my heart. she's there and she's present and shauna wants to love her but she's scarred and wounded and struggles with it immensely.

- jackie was not as bad of a friend as shauna was, but she had her flaws too. her communication was just as abysmal as shauna's and her assumption that shauna understood her affection for her and refusal to genuinely say something kind and loving about shauna that didn't center her contributed to the downfall of their relationship. with that, I do believe shauna was the person she loved most in the world and that she would've done anything for her — but they had diabolical normal people levels of communication.

- I absolutely adore the original concept of mistyjackie in the script but if it had made it into the show itself, I don't think jackie would have died.

- I actually like the fact that they separated travis and natalie this season, as I believe it helped develop their characters more individually in the teen timeline. I liked getting to see nat interact more with misty and travis interact more with akilah and lottie.

- travis seeing lottie in his scenes with natalie and imagining her comforting him is a storyline that feels unexplored and I wish we saw how they got to the point of their early season 3 dynamic

- natalie was not the only person to show jackie respect in the wilderness / after she passed away. taissa attempted to help her during the confrontation, advised shauna to go get her and was narratively/psychologically absent during the feast scene. she exhibits concern both for shauna's mental state and the fact that jackie's body is being used as a doll. she reminds natalie of what happened to her after mari and shauna get into a conflict. taissa respected jackie just as much as natalie did.

- taishauna is THE friendship of the show.

- jackie taylor remaining the face of the show and such a widely-talked about character years after her death (and so high on people's rankings) is a testament to both ella's performance and the value of her character.

- earlier on, misty sought the validation of acceptance and the motions of friendship more than she did genuine companionship. we see that in the way she snitches on jackie (who is one of the first people to offer her genuine friendship) and in the way her allegiance shifts from girl to girl. I don't think it's as clear cut on screen, but I think nat becomes the one person she is truly loyal to with the events of late s3. had nat lived, regardless of what happened, her allegiance would've remained with her.

- mr matthews gets a lot of hate but I genuinely believe that he was just terrified for his daughter and enraged by the fact that he could do nothing to help her. I don't believe that he resented or despised lottie.

- jackie taylor did not hate rabbits.

- I hope we learn more about kodiak. joel mchale is too peak of an actor to play a character whose only role is to be mysterious and then get shanked. I'm still convinced he's related to our cabin guy.

- travis dying so early on made sense narratively but I still hope we get to see more scenes of andres soto in the role. I thought the casting was a miss until I saw one specific photo of him that really illustrated to me how much he looks like kevin alves.

- the soundtrack is absolutely peak and a major contributor to the quality of the show.

I know a lot of people who were Tech fans are in pain right now, and one thing I want to say is, you were not wrong, to invest in this character as you did--be that emotionally, creatively, by participating in fandom. Nor were you wrong to want him back, nor was it an unreasonable read of the marketing and S3 text.

It's not what we got, but don't let your grief convince you there was something 'wrong' in the time and effort you put into him and his story, whatever version you engaged with, nor in how you perceived it. If he brought you joy, then he did. If hoping he would come back kept you going, introduced you to new people and fan creations that bolstered you, helped you connect with friends, then that all still happened.

The canon's path can't dim any of that. It has no power over those things. I look at all my gorgeous commissions, at the Legos I've built and the fics I've written, and at everyone else's cosplays and fics and art, and I think, these are still beautiful. They're still here, they still happened, they're real. They're the story I know and care about.

Tech is a character from a story, and a story isn't finished or over if you keep telling it in whatever way you have to tell. So keep creating for him, and taking in others creations, keep your conversations and friendships alive. That's how he remains alive and with us.

Ted Lasso season 4... thoughts...

LOL so it sounds like they're definitely going to have Ted come back to coach the women's team himself as opposed to just being around a bit for whatever reason... while I know plenty of women's teams do have male managers IRL, do they like... have to? Like do they have to make that narrative choice instead of having a female coach?

And they've said the first episode is apparently going to be set and filmed in Kansas, so I assume it will be Rebecca going over there to ask him to come back?

If this is where we are going with it, I now really hope there's a significant time jump, skipping the amount of time we've missed IRL, like 3 football seasons - and that it will be set in the 25/26 football season. He left summer of 2022 and is coming back summer of 2025. I mean, for starters, they can't explain the kids aging any other way if Henry or Phoebe is a part of it. And in terms of the aim of the initial 3 season arc, it would be insane for Ted to just come back a few months after he left. Like. Okay it's fine to leave his son again? I assume in this situation Henry (and possibly Michelle) will move WITH him, because otherwise what was the point??? So we really have to be on top of the kid's age, and it has been 4 years since filming s3!

I used to really dread the idea of a time jump as I didn't want to miss Roy's journey as manager (AND THERAPY), but now it feels like it's the only way it'll work, in particular if the focus is Ted returning to handle the women. A Tedless continuation that focused on Roy should have had no time jump, but this version definitely should.

I have written before about how it is completely and utterly unreal that they don't already have a women's team, even if they were only semi pro, so I feel like if they wanted to explain the whole "starting" the women's team with some level of football realism, you could do it like, okay, they did already have the women's team and they've been playing in lower leagues, way way down, with no funding, Rupert didn't care, Rebecca didn't initially care, and Keeley's plan was about building them up now they had the resources, not starting them from scratch. And after a few seasons of serious investments and promotions they are ready for the WSL, and they need a more high profile manager? I guess???? Like the last few years have been a Welcome to Wrexham situation with 3 seasons of promotion in a row under another coach, and now that coach is leaving and Ted comes in to take them to the highest level? I GUESS.

But also like. Sorry but Ted Lasso in its former form was such a man centric show. Which I wasn't mad at! But what i mean is like Ted as a coach really seems like his most powerful quality is helping boys become non toxic men. Men's support, men accessing their emotions, men's mental health. Ted help guys to Man Good. I just don't think those same vibes will come across well when it's about him mentoring women? I don't want to see him trying to mentor women?? They deserve better?Ted works as a coach when he's helping men be good men. The women don't need his methods.Like yeah he helped Rebecca but I think that was very different. I don't need to see him being Coach Dad to a bunch of lesbians. I just don't.

But honestly I don't really care what Ted does with himself, I need that time jump to happen regarding other characters, to keep their stories something I feel good about. At this point, I really don't think Phil Dunster is doing it - Jamie may show up as a guest in one or two eps... and if it was a direct continuation, I cannot stand the idea that he left Richmond the same reason Roy became manager and Richmond entered the Champions League. I really, really don't think it would be in character for him to do that even though there would have been interest to buy him. But I could believe it if it has been a few seasons and he had a really great offer - especially if it was back to City. I could accept him being transferred after a decent time jump, but I hate the idea of making OOC choices about him to fit their availability or plot ideas. He Would Not Do That.

But if the focus is mainly Ted and the women's team, it's possible that Jamie is still there and we just don't really follow the men's team action? Brett Goldstein IS doing the show but also has many other commitments, so I am kind of assuming we won't be in the men's team dressing room or filming men's matches or doing heavy Roy plot, and Roy will only pop up for Rebecca admin scenes/Keeley personal scenes.

Because possibly the football action won't follow the men at all, as in, they won't even rebuild that old set and stuff, and mainly be in Ted's new office in the girls changing room (sigh, how many jokes about him not looking will there be) so it is possible Jamie is still very much at Richmond, and we see him a couple of times in a social capacity with Roy or Keeley, but if there is no more scenes in the men's team dressing room etc, and the plot won't in any way focus on the results of the men's season, he won't be in the background of basically every office or training scene like he was before.

The more I think about it, the more I actually think this "no men's team scenes" is probably likely regardless of who is still on the men's team - because they want to do all the work they need to do for filming matches and training and stuff, which is big and expensive, I think they'll do just the women's games - they would actually probably get roasted if they focused too much on the men after all this talk about promoting the women's game. Like we had 3 seasons of just men - even splitting season 4 into 50% men's team focus and 50% women feels kind of bad in terms of their aims about platforming women's football. So I am now betting men's team will be almost invisible, with some players popping up in incidental/social scenes.

So. It is possible that Roy pops up in a club admin way/Keeley relationship way - though I do NOT want them to get back together - and that Jamie still is there and around those characters socially but we don't do everyday team scenes. It is also possible Jamie will no longer play for Richmond.

Either way I really need that time jump. I cannot stand the idea of Ted regretting his choice and moving back immediately after all that. I cannot stand the idea of Jamie moving clubs in the same transfer window Roy is hired. I cannot stand the idea of pretending the Henry actor hasn't aged 4 years or the idea of recasting Phoebe. I am furious that they feel JSuds was integral to the show as an actor and that it still needs to focus on him cominh back and coaching. He could have just written it and popped up as a Diamond Dogs Zoom friend a couple of times.

But if this is the way it is, they NEED a time jump. Furious to miss Roy's managerial/therapy journey, it will be insane for all the growth to happen off screen and will probably sit very weird with viewers if he comes back on screen acting significantly different, but you'd HOPE he has changed in that time and at least it would leave us a really good fanfic gap to play with, between the summer of 2022 and whenever this will be set - particularly if Jamie is gone.

All in all I feel like I'd rather they just ended with season 3 and did not do this extension of the show, especially as they seem to have lost a lot of goodwill with the audience since season 3. I personally am very wary of what kind of football realism they're going to destroy in order to "start" the women's team and am going to be on edge until it comes out in terms of "how bad they've fucked it up." That wariness also extends to off screen character choices they will make in order to explain who's no longer around. Cool sentiment to be anticipating about a show I'm meant to like!

The showerproof sets

What are showerproof skins? They are skins linked to a custom body shape (or body shapes). When you give a showerproof skin to a sim, that sim will have the body shape that the skin is linked to when they are nude (taking a bath, streaking, doing ACR stuff, etc.). Showerproof skins have no effect whatsoever on clothing, because clothes use their own meshes.

The showerproof sets are repo’d to the regular skins above: you need the regular set for the showerproof sets to work. Like the regular set, they’re geneticized. You’ll have to choose if you want them to be townified or not (townified skins can appear on new townies and NPCs that spawn, non-townified skins cannot).

The required meshes are included, don’t forget to choose between blockfeet/sexyfeet/Marvine feet and Maxis hands/smooth hands. If you’re missing meshes, the affected sims will appear as floating heads or will be missing half their bodies when naked (it won’t break your game in any way, it’s just definitely not the intended result).

All of these skins are tooltipped, have their custom thumbnails and are sortindexed so that they will appear tidily set after set in your custom skins bin. If you use other skins though, there is a chance that those will appear jumbled up with mine if their sortindex numbers happen to clash. It’s only an aesthetic issue but if it bothers you, see this tutorial by Kurimas on how to change the order in which clothes appear in the CAS catalogue (it works for skins and other bodyshop content too).

IS2+3+4 Relay/Triathlon Runs Breakdown and Post-Mortem

Yesterday, I streamed a trial run of a tentative format I'd love to start playing, for now called IS Relay Run (or Triathlon, but that name has an expiration date with IS5 coming soon), where you do a run of IS2, followed by a run of IS3, and finally a run of IS4, with the catch being that units used in IS2 are banned from the IS3 run, and units used in IS2 and IS3 and banned from the IS4 run.

Here's the ruleset my chat over at Twitch and I built and agreed upon for the trial run:

Difficulty levels correspond to the minimum difficulty that gives you maximum scoring conditions, thus, IS2 Calamity, IS3 Waves 7 and IS4 Natures 10, as those are the minimum difficulty levels that net you the maximum score in those respective modes; Calamity gives the highest score in IS2, Waves 8 and up offer the same scoring as Waves 7 in IS3, Natures 11 and up offer the same scoring as Natures 10 in IS4.

Reserve Operators don't count into the unit bans. The logic is that 1) there's many of them in the first place, 2) softens some of the inherent logistical nightmares that come with three distinct runs of IS RNG can bring in a format that's already cutting deeply into your numbers.

Elite Operators count into the unit bans. So if you nab yourself Sharp in IS2, you don't get to use him in IS3 and IS4.

Alternative versions of Operators don't count into unit bans for their counterpart versions. You want to use Kroos in IS2 and Kroos the Keen Glint in IS3? Knock yourself out, no one should ever be denied their Kroos, they are two distinct units for the purpose of this format.

If you take an Operator and don't use them even once, they still count as a pick and are banned from the rest of the runs. Sometimes, a pick is an investment opportunity, and it may or may not pay off, like grabbing Texas the Omertosa in IS3 hoping to get a promotion, but then it never comes. Texas, in this case, still counts as used.

Any ending goes.

You may pick any starting squad. It doesn't have to be the same one in every run (and in the case of many squads, this would be impossible anyways).

***Not a real rule, but one I stuck to anyhow: No Ingot withdrawals from the Shop, mainly because I'm interested in seeing if the format can be used for racing, and in case of a race, this would be so someone with 999 investment ingots doesn't have a huge advantage over someone with 10 if they decide they're going to break the piggy bank to absolutely ruin the other contestant.

With this ruleset, I ran the format and it was very fun. This was the final roster:

With that said, here are some considerations I have following the trial run:

IS2 Calamity is very volatile. With no exaggeration, it was the most challenging part of the run, in no small part because I got the Sigil of Tragodia (All enemies have +30% Attack, Defense and HP, and you have -2 Deployment Slots). For those not in the know, the way Calamity works is that runs start you off with a powerful Cursed Artifact unique to Calamity that exclusively works against you to make things harder, as well as a minor positive Artifact, usually Squad Size +1. The rationale in using Calamity, besides the max scoring logic, is that with Calamity, you'd be incentivized to use powerful Operators you'd otherwise keep in the bench for future ISes. In the case of the Trial Run, that was why I picked Dusk and Shamare for IS2, as the reduced Deployment Slots and hefty increase to enemy Defense meant that Dusk's S3 was going to be very very strong (as well as providing me with many Arts tanks for the Scarlet Singers; Freeling's have 50 RES), and having Shamare's Cursed Doll helps bring down those immense stat boosts at least temporarily many times per map. I'd say whether IS2 is run Standard or Calamity is up to player discretion, as the raw volatility of Calamity can make for plenty an early end to the run. When it comes to potential Races, I'd say Standard is the way to go, due to the selfsame volatility; the Cursed Artifacts are not made equal, Tragodia is VERY dangerous, whereas others can be half as threatening. If one contestant gets Tragodia and the other doesn't, then that's already a potential huge blow not really in line with the spirit of the race (considering there's already plenty of other random factors such as node distribution, Bewildered IS2 floors, recruitment voucher luck, and such)

Endings are really a player discretion thing. Normally, you'd take the path of least resistance for your ending routing, but if you want to challenge yourself or, more importantly, want to agree to certain endings on your race, knock yourself out. That said, I think the most logical thing is to stick to Ending 1 on all races, because of the random nature of getting Endings in most cases. IS4 is much more consistent in this regard, but IS3 very much isn't (going for Ending 2? Hope you're Gopnik-proofed the moment you get the Last Knight) and IS2 even less so.

I think it's ok to withdraw Ingot from the Shop if you're doing this solo, but I really think Races should ban withdrawing Ingots, for the reasons detailed previously.

Something that didn't come up during the trial run or during discussions is what happens if you lose: I think we all implicitly agreed that you simply start over from IS2, because we love high stakes. That said, in a race format, there's two real ways to go about it: If you game over, you lose the race outright, OR if you game over, you start over from the IS you lost at. This, I'm still thinking about and I'll run it over with the people over at my stream next time, but for now I think it's definitely something you can agree to either way with the other racers. If you're playing this as a self-imposed challenge, my suggestion is to treat a game over as a true game over that sends you back to IS2, for that delicious tension, But Of Course, that's all that is, a suggestion, if you think for you it's more fun to just start over from the IS you lost at, well, that's what you do.

Other considerations with the races may be performance differences between contestants (Racer A's computer or phone runs much faster than Racer B's, thus they load faster). These may be 1 or 2 seconds, but 1 or 2 seconds per loading screen add up after three entire runs (hell, "just" 1 or 2 seconds is huge already in and of itself in the context of a race). Another issue might be that this can easily take several hours, given it's three distinct ISes with extra scrutiny on Operator picks, during which emulators may crash, phones may overheat, Things May Happen. This is true in one way or another for a lot race formats of things in general of course, but it's worth thinking about it anyways. Things that come to mind is maybe doing the race in segments, so IS2 is its own segment, and the first place can chill until the rest are done, then they all start IS3 together and so on, and the end timers are used to make the final calculation on who won or lost. Another format could also be points format per IS, so clearing IS2 the fastest gets you one point, IS3 gets you another, and so on, and person with the most points at the end wins the race. There's Different Ways to go about it in respects to people's limitations, specs, available time, and such.

Something I'll say is that it's pretty time consuming, and it can be stamina consuming, too: I was streaming while doing it, and streaming means interacting with and entertaining a group of people whilst you play, which adds another factor of exhaustion, but I think that just focusing on the game should be pretty fine for most people. Your mileage may vary as to whether 3 runs back to back is not a lot or a lot (it's plenty if I'm also needing to stream, but not at all if I'm just playing, for example). That said, it's a bit of a moot point if you're doing it in your own time; you can do IS2 one day, save a screenshot of your banlist, then continue with this challenge two days later with IS3, then do IS4 yet another day. The world (and format) is your oyster after all.

And, of course, this is really, really endgame stuff to be doing, given you have to have enough units prepped for not one, but three runs at a reasonable difficulty level. It definitely rewarded having map knowledge and knowing your key units to bring to each IS.

But, yeah, really fun format if you wanna try something new whether it be with our 'house' rules or your own!

Author's note: We're back! Sorry it's been so long!! I have no excuse for this. It was just a little thing that my Hunter addled brain felt the need to include before the wedding oneshot and @decembermidnight very nicely encouraged me to do this so it happened. No pressure to read! Just needed to get it out my system before the next one lol

“Remind me again why I just spent 2 and a half hours listening to all the bands Pabu has to offer and you weren’t there?” Hunter called out tiredly but merrily enough by way of announcing his arrival back home. He loved the people here but some of them were not as talented as they thought they were, and his ears were not thanking him for his patient listening.

“Because we agreed that me reading all the wedding tradition research Tech and Omega keep sending me as well as spending a minimum of 3 hours a day getting poked and prodded by Lyra was equal to you handling the music, food and flowers.” You replied as you peeked your head round the refresher door.

“Hey, I read it too!” Hunter protested. He liked being involved in the process. It was new territory for both of you

“You read the summarised versions I put together, it’s the same as me helping you pick whatever band or flowers you’ve narrowed it down to.” You reminded him with a grin. “All about the teamwork, Sergeant.”

“Uh huh.” Hunter said with a fond roll of his eyes before he changed the subject. “Is there a reason you’re standing in there?” He asked as he casually passed by en-route to the bedroom.

“Don’t come in!” You yelped as you dashed behind the door.

“Why not?” Hunter asked but he obeyed your request and instead carried on to the bedroom.

“I have a surprise for you but now I’m chickening out.”

“Haven’t we had enough of those recently?” Hunter responded nervously. The horrible emotions and memories of your poisoning still lingered in his mind.

“This is a good surprise…” I hope. You added mentally as you stared at your reflection and worked on bringing back the confidence you’d felt ten minutes ago. “But I need you to promise me that you won’t laugh.” You requested, your voice loud enough so he could hear you.

“Why would I laugh?” He asked back, voice equally loud.

“I’m trying something new. We have been through a lot and I’m obviously not just talking about wedding planning stress, and I can only imagine the range of talent you heard today. So, I figured we need to unwind, wipe the slate clean. Hence, this surprise. But again, you cannot laugh, or I swear I’m walking outta here and all this wedding stuff comes to an end. You can marry Shep for all I care.” You threatened, obviously not meaning it but you needed him to understand that this was far out your comfort zone.

Hunter ignored your melodramatics, “What’s wrong with Shep?”

“Hunter!” You cried out through an exasperated laugh. “Do you understand what I’m telling you?”

“I understand but I do think a surprise is ruined by an explanation.” He quipped back as he took off his light layer, draped it over the dresser chair, and rolled up his sleeves as he waited for whatever it is you were talking about.

“When you’re done being a smartass, will you just promise me that you’re not going to laugh?”

“Yes, of course I promise but would you just get out here? You’re not making any se-” You appeared and suddenly he forgot how to speak. He couldn’t form the words. He couldn’t process the gorgeous image in front of him, so he was left just standing there, gawping in pure awe.

You shifted awkwardly under his intense stare and brought your arms to cover yourself self-consciously. “I can take it off if-”

“Don’t you dare.” His voice was hoarse with longing. The dark red lace lingerie set that left little to the imagination suited you and your body perfectly, emphasising ever part of you in a way that drove him crazy with need. The fact that the colour matched that of his bandana did not escape him either.

You glanced up and that was when you sensed the want flowing through him. It was reflected carnally in his eyes. You lowered your arms to your sides. “You like it then?”

All the words he wanted to say required more articulation than what his brain was currently allowing him to do so all Hunter could manage to do was nod dumbly. His hands were clenching and unclenching by his sides as he fought with himself to stay in control of his faculties. He was waiting to see how you wanted to play this.

You’d talked yourself out of doing this countless time up until this point and even tonight that feeling had still lingered but now, hearing and feeling the impact this was having on him, you began to believe it again. The growing confidence allowed you to move forward and dictate what you wanted here. Your simmering arousal grew more as you stepped towards him. “Want to show me how much?” You whispered as you placed a teasing and seductive kiss to his neck and trailed your hand down his chest, undoing a few of his shirt buttons as you did so. You could feel his heart pounding beneath your palm, and you mouthed along the tan skin that was now available to you, smiling as you heard his breaths grow more rapid and uneven. You brought your eyes back to his and waited expectantly.

Hunter didn’t need to be told twice. He dropped to his knees and placed slow, open-mouthed kisses up the inside of your thighs, sucking marks into your skin as he moved closer to where you were absorbing the softness of the material, teeth grazing the edges of the fabric.

“Hunter?” You murmured with a sensual sigh as you brought your head back from where it had fallen towards your shoulder blades and peered down at him. You caressed the side of his face with your left hand, your engagement ring proudly standing out as you moved your fingers with a tenderness that didn’t quite match the intentions you had tonight.

Hunter kissed your palm and relished in the feeling of the cool metal band against your skin as he stared up at you. He was enraptured by the sight of you and completely at your mercy.

You moved your hand to rake your fingers through his hair, tugging slightly at the ends and you smirked at the low groan he ground out at that, before you uttered a simple command without so much as opening your mouth. Fuck me.

The change in him was instantaneous. With a breath that sounded akin to a growl, he got to his feet and kissed you with an intensity to match what you were asking of him before he backed you into the wall. He didn’t miss a beat as he carried on kissing you and picked you up by the back of your thighs.

You matched the passionate strokes of his mouth with yours as you wrapped your legs around him and tangled your fingers in his shirt with a moan you felt him tight against you.  

Hunter didn’t know where to start. He wanted to worship you in the way you deserved to be but the need he had for you was overpowering and he couldn’t stop touching your lace covered skin as he kissed you with utter desperation and need.

You knew what he was holding back for but this time, you didn’t want it gentle.

You wanted it rough.

You wanted to feel him.

Your body was yearning for him, and you couldn’t wait.

You snaked your hands down between you to reach for the waistband of his trousers. I need you. I need you now, Hunter. You said as you had to pull away to draw a much inconvenient but needed breath.

That was all he needed for his lingering doubt and restraint to officially vanish. Hunter didn’t bother removing the flimsy piece of fabric, nor did he particularly want to. So, he merely moved your underwear to the side without breaking the kiss. A low, eager groan rumbled from his chest as he moved into you.

Any pain quickly morphed into pleasure, and you welcomed the sensation of feeling him in this way as he moved against you. Harder. You instructed as you kissed him and took his lip between your teeth in encouragement.

Hunter was only too happy to obey. He relished the loud, breathy groan that emitted from you as he gave you what you wanted and the way your grip on his shoulders tightened, only heightened his own desire for you.

The two of you were to wound up for this to last as long as you usually did, and you could tell by the way his movements started to stutter that he was reaching that point of ecstasy that you were careening towards too.

Hunter could feel you tightening around him, and his words left him in a frantic and breathless manner, “I’m not going to- I can’t- you need to- fuck, you feel so good.” He couldn’t even finish his train of thought. He was that caught up in the feel of you and knew he wasn’t going to last for much longer, but he refused to let you go unsatisfied.

You knew what he was requesting and brought your own hand down between you and a cry left your lips as you went tumbling towards your climax.

Hunter swallowed the precious sound from you and pressed his mouth to yours in a final, hard and fervid kiss as he allowed himself to go with you. You both fell apart together with a shared groan and for a moment, all that could be heard was the sound of the two of you working on getting your breath back.

Hunter pressed his forehead against yours. “Did I ever actually tell you how stunning you look in this?” He asked as he got his bearings back.

“I think the focus lied elsewhere.” You kidded through a tired laugh. “But I got the message without it.”

“Well, you do. I mean you always do but this, yeah, this was a nice surprise.” He said gratefully. He kissed the hollow of your throat. “I love you. You took my breath away and you look absolutely beautiful.”

“Thank you.” You uttered quietly as you stroked through the ends of his hair. “I love you too.”

“Is this what you had in mind before Skara Nal?” He asked, his voice far raspier than it typically was as he lowered you down but continued to toy with you and the fabric.

His shirt was half-buttoned and wrinkled, his bandana askew and he was panting heavily. And you knew you were in just as equal a dishevelled state. “Might’ve been.” You said coyly as you ran your fingers through the shorter hairs of his fringe. “Lyra thought it was pretty important to re-create.”

“Remind me to thank her.” Hunter mumbled against your neck.

“And I have two more.” You said through a gratified and happy sigh as you cradled the back of his head as he lightly and dotingly kissed across your collarbone. “Next time I’ll wear one of the different colours.” You promised.

Hunter rested his forehead on your chest with a low moan. “I don’t know how you expect me to focus on wedding planning when I know this is something that I’ll be returning too. We’re going to have the most bizarre mix of wedding accompaniments cause I’ll just be looking for the quickest way out.”

You chuckled softly and on slightly shaky legs, you made to step past him to freshen up but Hunter’s hand around yours stopped you in your tracks.

“Hold on, what makes you think I’m done with this one?” Hunter said, his eyes gleaming with both mischief and desire.

“Aren’t you?” You replied with a smirk, but your heart was already racing in anticipation once more.

“There were a lot of really terrible bands.” He said by way of answer before he led you towards the bed.

would anyone like my opinions on s3? ill give them anyway. spoilers below the cut

the first thing im the most frustrated about is the way they handled inho and junho's storyline. since s1 we have seen them set up such a special, emotional relationship of two brothers, who by the end of the show have matching surgery and bullet scars, but suddenly we don't get a single scene of them? nothing?

WHY did inho send the baby off to junho? what is he supposed to do with her? inho taking care of the baby himself would've made more sense considering he joined the games for his wife and baby and it could be set up as a way to redeem himself but he sends off another burden in his little brother's life??

wdym inho who was desperate to save his little brother, who gave a kidney to him, who saved his life and wanted him far away from the games as possible, is readily allowing for his worker to 'kill them all including the detective'???? im so pissed at how they butchered the more humane aspects of his character

the vip scenes were HORRIBLE and took away from the mysterious/emotional aspects of the show. they couldve given that screentime to exploring the characters relationships, or inho and junho or inho and gihun's dynamic, but NOOOOO. the voice work was EVEN WORSE! especially with the lady's!!

inho and gihun. i dont even have words for this. they hyped up their dynamic throughout the press, through photoshoots and the 457 thing, and the most we get is a few minutes confrontation?? gihun's entire arc in s2 revolved around unmasking the frontman, asking his motivations, FIGHTING HIM, but when gihun finds out its his former teammate who he developed a friendship with, its NOTHING? it almost felt like their entire dynamic in s2 never happened, it felt like the hollow shell of the characters they'd made but without any sort of development

it's clear they were setting up american squid game's foundation through their ending (yet another show im surprised they greenlit) but WHY THE FUCK were they playing ddakji? shouldnt they be playing american children's games?? considering korean squid game was about koren children's games?? im 100% netflix's involvement and pressure regarding setting up the american sg is one of the major reasons why the writing is so poor in this version.

myunggi. what the fuck happened to him bro. its apparent his motivations were driven by money from the start, but one of the reasons he abandoned junhee also stemmed from his love for her. we saw glimpses of it in s2. and then they quite literally make him the main villain in s3? it feels a little shallow and taking the easy route. killing his own daughter is crazy. but i guess with guys like him it was the most obvious route he'd take. its still a little disheartening to see.

idgaf about namgyu. im sorry i cannot stand him. i was happy when he died 😭

no-eul was incredible. big fan of park heesoon as the masked man. i really liked their dynamic. she's one of my favourite characters. but i feel like they could've done more with his character. he was clearly meant to lead the games incase something happened to inho.

gihun was truly a very well written protagonist. at the end he did something very gihun like; and he moves me so much. what did irk me about him is the fact that he readily killed daeho with his bare hands— his teammate and someone his best friend truly cherished. but he hesitated to kill the actual bad men who were responsible for many deaths including his teams, and threatened to kill him and the baby. it was very frustrating to see. gihun does have a dark side but why was it aimed at the wrong people?

hyunju's death KILLED me. genuinely. i cried. and the old lady's. their arcs were very well written but god they devastated me.

ill be honest i was so sure the series would end with inho dead someway. preferably killing himself. i was so sure we'd see him sacrifice himself for junho, considering how emotionally charged their storyline has been so far. it was disappointing how it was handled.

these are the ones that are in my mind, ill keep posting when i think of something new.

Mike's crush on El does not necessarily contradict him being gay rather than bi

I wanna start off by clarifying that if you see Mike Wheeler as bisexual rather than gay, THAT'S 1000% VALID don't let anyone take that from you babe

this is just my perspective as a lesbian who thought she was definitely straight until the end of 10th grade (age 16, a bit older than Mike and Will are in canon)

I was rewatching a lot of scenes from the show, mainly s2 and s3, to see if I thought that Mike's feelings for El came across as weird/forced or if their relationship felt off

and honestly it left me (a Byler shipper) pretty confused at first

because YES there are a lot of odd things about his feelings and their relationship

BUT ALSO

there are a few moments that are so cute and feel so genuine I didn't know what to do with them for a sec

mainly all the scenes where they're together at the Snowball dance

because that shit seems real to me, it's cute as fuck, that is a Mileven win right there if there ever was one

and honestly, the forehead touch when she and the Byers are about to leave, and again when they reunite in s4

dude that shit is so sweet okay

(Mileven shippers are valid even if I disagree with it for the narrative)

ANYWAYS here's where my personal experience comes in to help out with my confusion over this

Mike in s1 feels the most obviously comp-het to me

because I had a big crush on a boy in kindergarten, another in gr2/3

I didn't even know what gay people were, I knew girls liked boys, so if a boy was my friendly, and nice to me instead of mean, I probably would've liked him or thought I liked him

Mike in seasons 2-4 reminds me of myself in gr7/8

the most intense crush I had on a guy was in gr7/8

I was more used to being friendly with guys at this point but this guy was becoming a close friend of mine

a cute confident guy who was nice, funny, and taking an active interest in me as a person was like wooaahh

I really do believe that Mike unintenionally idolized El, putting her up on this pedestal, with his self esteem all wrapped up in her liking him back

but I also don't think that's his fault, when you're young you don't know any better

I did the exact same thing with the guy I liked, I had this whole other version of him in my head and I started liking him less and less the more he didn't act like that ideal

even after I figured out that the kind of person and the kind of connection I wanted in a relationship was something I was far more likely to find with a girl, I still thought I was straight, so it just made me kind of sad

like- I had resigned myself to the fact that I would struggle to find a guy that I TRULY liked

maybe it was lingering internalized homophobia, idk, I had lots of gay friends, but I just hadn't felt that way about any girl at all before, I didn't think I was capable of being attracted to girls

and then there was her

we became very close friends, she was such a kind person, so fucking funny, an incredibly skilled artist, and absolutely gorgeous

and it finally clicked

finally my mind registered the fact that I COULD be attracted to girls

I still consider her my first love

and then there was no turning back

I wouldn't be surprised AT ALL if it takes Will coming out to Mike/the party in order for him to consider Will romantically

not because he isn't already in love with him subconsciously

but because I don't think he has registered it as a possibility for EITHER of them

well, he could. He absolutely had the ability, he just didn't know he was able to, and had no idea how to do it. The only reason Five can absorb elemental abilities is because the housing of her power source is made from Chronosteel, and her actual literal power source contains traces of a synthetic version of the blue crystals found in the caves under chens island (Which is what allows her to take more than one element at a time)

Zane had the same powersource! They were made in the same facility by the same people with the same materials (granted, when Dr.J smuggled Zane out of the compound he had to leave behind a lot of his original parts. his powersource was one of the few things he made certain to take.) I like to think the whole reason Zane didn't instantly disintegrate when he touched the golden armor at the end of s3 is because of the chronosteel in his core. it didn't save him, but it bought him a few seconds of extra time.

is it something that has to be done intentionally?

yes, it has to be done intentionally! and it's not really an intuitive thing. All of the original Six had to be trained to steal elements- it's honestly kind of lucky that Five can actually do it. She never had real field practice. it involves prolonged skin contact and a whole lot of focus. Zane was never trained how, and even if he was he has no memories of his five siblings or the facility he was originally created in.

what happened with the previous Ice em?

PrevIceEM gave Zane ice. It was purely a gift. Zane absolutely did not steal it. When any of the original six androids steal an element, it does not actually belong to them. Just like when chens staff was destroyed and the elements returned to their original owners, when Zanes core was destroyed in s3 he would not have gotten it back when he rebuilt his body if it was stolen. Even if he stole it and the PrevIceEM died and the element had no master to return to, it would have simply chosen a new host instead of returning to someone that took it by force. (The elements aren't really sentient, but they do have some sort of abstract consciousness, and they really don't like being snatched from their host.)

how does she feel about Zane being titanium?

it doesn't really phase her all that much. She's titanium, too, under her synthetic skin. She probably knew Zane back before he ever had synthetic skin. He was actually the slowest of the six original androids development-wise (He aged like a human, while the others aged extremely rapidly. he was still essentially a baby while they were all going into adulthood.) so he wasn't being fitted with skin yet when she knew him.

Frightmare and MY take on it

(@geekgirles and I were chatting about this, but thought I’d go more in-depth)

If I had to choose ANY episode to rewrite from Danny Phantom s3 (aside from Urban Jungle, but that’s a whole other post) it would be Frightmare. In a HEARTBEAT. Just because of the SHEER POTENTIAL that a dream ghost and dream horror has, and the character growth we could have gotten!

When I watched Frightmare for the first time, I loved it. I thought it was a good and solid episode, especially for s3. But after watching shows like She-Ra And The Princesses Of Power, Gravity Falls, The Owl House and DuckTales 2017 (iykyk the episodes I’m talking about for all those shows) where they did similar dream/false reality plots like Frightmare… I now see how much potential was WASTED with Frightmare. And here is MY take on Frightmare/how it should have gone.

First off, it would be a special. Honestly, this and Undergrowth’s episodes deserved to be specials (Vortex… not so much). It would still start how it did in canon, in Danny’s POV and a regular day for him, but it would just be a little… off. Maybe his parents are more attentive and less biased to ghosts, maybe Jazz is a little less overbearing, but nothing too major to really raise Danny’s suspicions and he’d just brush it off (maybe he’d see a change in his parents’ attitude to ghosts and Phantom as a sign they might accept him when he tells them and it isn’t taken out of his hands), and he goes to school and meets up with Tucker. They go through the school day like normal, but there are little things that are just not right—the clock is a little too loud, the time is a little bit blurred, his classmates are a little bit too nice to him and his teachers a little bit too forgiving, his grades are a little bit better, Tucker’s a little more flat—but again, all things Danny can brush off. Except, not quite because Danny sees things that almost trigger his ghost sense but not quite—a green shape darting out of a view, a starry silhouette that’s gone when he looks back, the feeling of red eyes watching him and a whisper in the back of his mind, a voice talking to him, a figure out of the corner of his eye that disappears when he turns to it. Just all those little things that just build up and raise his suspicions, but it’s all fine, everything’s fine, right?

Then the moment in the cafeteria happens, just like in canon—Dash is nice to him and Tucker, everyone treats Danny better, he’s well-liked and accepted for who he is, and when Fright Knight attacks, everyone cheers for Danny and accepts he has powers and is half-ghost, which is definitely something Danny has always wanted underneath the teenage desire of popularity to be accepted and seen for who he is, and he fights Fright Knight—except at the end he notices the green shapes again, that starry form and disappearing figure and the feeling he’s being watched increases, that something not right pinging in the back of his head. But he ignores it and heads back to school, transforming back and learning Sam is his girlfriend (which is the one thing that didn’t ping as wrong, that Sam being his girlfriend just feels right to Danny) and they go to kiss… until Danny notices something in the hallway.

He decides to investigate despite his friends waving him off as nothing being wrong, following his gut and that something isn’t right… and he sees a version of himself, telling him to wake up, that this is all a dream and Amity Park is in danger. Sam and Tucker arrive and tell Danny that Danny is a fake and trying to trick him but the other Danny insists he’s a part of Danny’s consciousness not under the dream and fighting to wake up, that he needs to wake up, but his friends insist that he’s lying, that everything is perfect, that Amity Park doesn’t need him. And that is what fully tips Danny off, as his friends know that he would never abandon Amity Park to an unknown danger if he could help it, even if it is a trick, as little things add up about Tucker and Sam’s behaviour… including how they nearly kissed in front of everyone, when Sam isn’t comfortable with such public displays. Now realising that something is definitely wrong, Danny demands what’s going on… and that’s when things get horrific >:)

Nocturne, using “Sam” and “Tucker”, controls them as the surroundings blur and twist, the other students becoming faceless shadows, colours darkening and shadows sharpening, as Nocturne tells Danny he hoped he wouldn’t wake up, that while he was impressed he thought that Danny wouldn’t be fighting as much, as Danny remembers what happened before—everyone slowly falling asleep, him trying to stay awake, facing against Nocturne… and then the “perfect” day that is actually a dream turned nightmare as Nocturne, seeing that, introduces himself and announces his intentions. Danny transforms to fight Nocturne but he summons Sleepwalkers and uses Tucker and Sam to fight against Danny, and he fights against the Sleepwalkers, unable to fight Sam and Tucker even if it’s not them as Nocturne taunts him about wanting acceptance and love from his peers and his family and friends, musing about his fears as Danny fights before the dream twists and becomes a nightmare—a nightmare of Danny having to watch his family and Sam and Tucker die and be unable to save them over and over in horrific ways as they scream for him, a nightmare of his hometown being destroyed whether it’s by Pariah Dark or Undergrowth or another, stronger ghost or the ghost he always feared as it shifts into Danny’s worst fear, his worst nightmare.

Dan.

Dan shows up, but not the real Dan—rather, the manifestation of every single one of Danny’s fears, of him not being good enough, of him being exactly what he always feared he’d become and that his parents were right all along about ghosts, that Vlad was right about them being alike, that he hadn’t changed his future, that he was a monster. As he and “Dan” fight, Nocturne still taunting him, as it reaches a point where Danny might fail, he gains the strength to fight back, to show how much he’s grown, that while he’s always had this fear and always wants acceptance from his parents, he knows who and what he is, has accepted himself, that he will never become Dan or anything like him, that he isn’t a monster, that he is and always will be himself, be half-ghost and half-human, be a hero, be Danny Fenton and Phantom, and that he will wake up and defeat Nocturne, because he will never, ever give up fighting or protecting his hometown and the people he loves, no matter what.

At that, he defeats Dan (with a Wail, his ice or even a punch), and with Dan’s—and Nocturne’s—defeat, Danny wakes up. And that ends the first half of the special.

The second half is Danny returning back to Amity Park, evading Nocturne and his army of drones as they search for Danny, now wide awake, and waking up Tucker, Sam and Jazz. In each of their dreams, their “perfect” dreams turn into nightmares, where they face against their respective fears, insecurities and demons (Tucker’s jealously and selfishness in the form of his ghost half that also has elements of his king self, Sam’s guilt and judgmental/hypocritical nature in the form of her plant self, Jazz’s self-blame and pushiness in the form of her own critical self that blames her for not being there for Danny and not saving him from the Portal and trying to compensate by pushing her way into ghost fighting when it was too little too late) and triumph over them, showing their character growth and development before they all break out and confront Nocturne. Tucker and Jazz still handle destroying the machine in the living realm while Sam and Danny still overshadow Nocturne (they also still have that iconic and sweet “Can you make room for me?” moment) and fight him in his dream, where he tries to overwhelm them and use their fears and demons against them, but they all fight it together in the real and dream realms, before Tucker destroys the machine and Danny and Sam take down their demons and Nocturne together before being expelled and capturing Nocturne for real in the Thermos as everyone wakes up. The episode ends with a mix of canon ending and Team Phantom reflecting on their growth and facing their fears, and Danny and Sam denying the part of their dreams where they were together, and being adorkable blushy messes as the special ends, hinting that they know that the other’s feelings for each other is mutual.

Idk what anyone else’s thoughts would be on Frightmare or a rewrite of it, but that’s personally how I would rewrite it and would like to see it go down if we get a DP revival! Thanks for coming to TED talk and enjoying my ramble!
