Jr Year ep4
This is me live blogging bc I need to get thoughts out also would love fandom friends full spoilers bellow the cut just so no one accidentally reads anything they don’t want to this will be long
I have wanted most if not all of Zac's and Murph's shirts this season
I still have issues with the multiclass system but also no school thing has made the most sense in universe
I believe you and that's why I'm not saying anything is SUCH a trouble friend mood
"what's the drinking age?" "you have murdered SO many people"
BRENANS FACE WHEN KALINA SAYS I'M NOT BAD ANYMORE OH LORDS
the whole Kalina/Cassandra/Kristen scene is so nerve wrecking and interesting and once again I can talk so much about this topic and I know I have critized Kristen's approach but that's bc honestly I do have issue w it despite understanding it but it does make for an interesting arc and with this conversation it does seem like she believes in this domain of faith on the unknown. I will at some point talk more about from the point of someone who also left a culty religious thing but was still expected to perform similarly once out of it but my thoughts are still not the most organized
that being said I do not trust kalina and i do love cassandra
when you're in the dark I'm there holding your hand why am i crying
not kvx still being a thing lmao so Brennan
oh I just love how complicated but absolutely Bill Seacaster is the whole trust thing, the money going to the nemesees, there being a whole department, honestly that's a department I'd work for it's basically spy and gossip stuff
but also poor Fabian having to go through all this head ache stuff alone
watch Caperslolly Cattlekrush not be a direct nemesis but someone from her party be yes Fabian get that service!
I too keep thinking it is rat ccrushers no t grinders and will absolutely get it wrong
the gorthlax art is PERFECT
my school nurse did not have sweat pants but ok murph(i also absolutely am not from the us idk why i keep pointing out diferences)
they each will have a foil in my head so why just one owlbear contender? also is riz in the bloodrush team?
grinding for xp is so much weirder and terrible imo in this context also should be less effective bc like lbr experience is important like thinking on your feet etc like yes they are probably equal level and Brenan will play them well but they should absolutely not be as good as the bad kids at actual adventuring
I love how they all are so agro tho bc I get it and love the energy and I would absolutely be that mad
YES SOMEONE CALLED OUT THE HIPOCRISY
xp isn't bad if you at least still DO INTERESTING STUFF TO GET IT
if brenan makes them like grinding i will become as agro as the bad kids so far lol
gorthlax gave great advice, that being said i do hope they get a lil bit petty and end annoying grinders
nooo Gorgug (cries) I really want him to do well
listen I am so emo about gorgu's storyline like it's just no thoughts just feels and all of them
listen i don't do character builds but it does not sound to me like artificer and barbarian are THAT ill fitted, like yes the require different focus levels and types but they are also USED in different moments, nothing is stopping Gorgug from using his down time to come up with gadgets that work WITH his strenght and dex and rage and then use reckless abandon in battles. I think even th solar lasso is very much an example of that because it uses his strenghts, he's realing it in with atheltics checks iirc or how his shoes have jump like yes absolutely a challenge and not the most obvious but people are acting like it's impossible when it absolutely isn't
we love Corsica Jones
Riz helping Kristen <3
Brenan is absolutely having so much fun with Ayada's messages
Listen Fig does not need to go to warlock classes, no one in the school knows she is a warlock just do bard and barbarian and help your friend
also i get that procrastination girl
Please I want Fig and Gorgug to work on a song together and for us to get that scene so bad
Aelwynn is a whole entire mood
well that answers me: riz is not on bloodrush
I KNEW BRENNAN MADE THEM STUPID RATS TOO GOOD I HATE IT BUT I LOVE IT
wouldn't detect magic tell riz what enhancements she has? cause otherwise it's nnot THAT useful for spies (which is reason #1 the gadget exists)
oh brennan REALLY made people we will all hate
Yes Bucky I adore him
someone please go home with Fabian
ohhh Brennan put extra stakes at Fig just quitting/failling auegfort since she technically doesn't need it
oh warlock classes are night classes, kinda love that for Fig and also good for her being good at it
also looove the talk about exchanges and that
FIg could make an album out of pressure and expextations that woul be rad as hell
RAGH we love him
LISTEN Ragh should be like party guy, he was absolutely popular and is older and it takes stuff away from the bad kids to do
oh Fabian goes into it immediately we stan
Listen Ally is MASTER of weird ass energies and I love them for it
they truly are such dorks and somehow cool at the same time
I cannot tell if they don't know milkyriver's name or if they are benedict cumberbunching it and I love that
literally everything kalina says is so threatening
also the bad kids should count as followers of cassandra like they are not clerics sure but they ablsolutely belive in her... do only clerics/paladins count?
LISTEN BRENNAN WE DON'T NEED MORE PROBLEMS
oh the shard and red thing that was in one of the arts
oh I REALLY thought they were gonna split party this
I do hope the party still goes well

This person made an art of Cure Beauty x Joker, and when I pointed out that the ship is not ok, it is toxic and pedophilic, they replied:
Tumblr media
Which doesn't justify them shipping it! You are free to ship what you want! I literally ship sitickfigures and objects from Object shows! But never ship minor characters with adults! And never try to justify lowering their age or making them older! I pointed out all the reasons the ship wasn't ok as well as pointing out other reasons the ship wouldn't be able to be good even if she was the same age! And then this person blocked me! I don't doubt that they didn't even read what I said, they are very ignorant, and don't understand why the ship is not ok.
This makes me uncomfortable, I'm not one to like these ships, as much as I love hugtto, Hana and Gorgue is not a ship that I really like, it makes sense because he would be her husband in the future when and She was already an adult, but it's still weird and not very focused, maybe if there were more interactions between past Hana and past Gorgue maybe it would be less strange and uncomfortable. That would be one of the few things I would change about hugtto. The thing is, in this case, they at least have a reason why they'd be together, it's not a good execution, it's full of flaws and problems, but still, it's not the equal of Beauty and Joker.
But I just want to say is, I don't understand how some people are ok with this ship. And I'm glad I got blocked by this person, at least I don't have to go through that post every time I wanted to see about precure on Tumblr!
Sorry for my state today, this is all honestly very stressful...

Wild Party
After a rowdy fight with Eddie, Venom leaves and wonders into the nightlife of San Francisco. Forgetting arguments and troubles, Venom finds freedom in an nightclub, hidden away from the usual hustle and bustle. There was many things he unexpected to experience that night, and one of them was you...
Content- Nothing much, just fluff/smut.
Part 2
Tumblr media
"Ugh! Another one bites the dust!."
Exiting the temporary host, leaving the poor man doubling over and throwing up on the side of the road. Venom moved onto another host, taking full control over them and showing his true self to the world.
Entering a night club which was somewhat hidden in a nearby ally. Venom walked in and entered the crowd. Costumed people of all sorts of characters danced out of sink to the strobe lights, and club music. Venom towered over them all, witnessing a sea of various costumes, nearly all accessorised in glow-sticks.
"Look at all these weirdos. My kind of people!" the symboite smiled to himself.
"Nice costume!"
"Hey! Awesome work!"
His smile grew wider, exposing his large teeth. Nobody seemed to be afraid or concerned, only giving him more compliments as they walked or danced past him.
"Greatest costume ever! Awesome work!" A guy in his twenties approached Venom with a camera.
The symboite crouched down and allowed the man, what looked like some kind of band uniform take selfies and group shots.
"Is that Japanese?"
"No, I made it myself-"
"Hello gorgues."
Looking down to his left, seeing a girl with a white full face mask. Big red lips forming into a smile, underneath a large crooked nose, detailed the mask. A hat of red feathers adorned their head.
Venom awkwardly smiled before speaking, "oh... no. Sorry not my type." As he quickly moved through the crowd. "I am out of the 'Eddie Closet!'."
After a few hours of dancing and mingling, Venom made his way towards the back of the club. Settling himself into a quiet booth, simply just watching everyone dance and move pass him. While glow-stick accessories covered his neck and wrists. The coloured strobe lights still hit the area, but the brightness wasn't so harsh. Instead the whole area of booths, and tables were showered with a gentle glow from the ceiling spotlights.
The symboite rubbed his temples and groaned a little, barely overcoming a headache.
"Hey girls, I'm gonna have a sit down. My feet are killing me."
"Really? But the night just started."
Venom looked up, seeing you and your friends standing at the end of his booth.
"Started? We've been here for hours. I doubt you'd call it 'started'."
A girl of blonde curly hair placed a hand upon your shoulder, smiling warmly. "Ignore Tammy. Go for it, Y/N. Would you like company?"
"No thanks, Jess. Just need a minute."
"Ok! Well we're gonna head to the dance floor!" Tammy yelled as she lead your friends. Jess sighed, "be safe. If you decide to go home early. Text me. I wanna know you're ok." You nodded. Seeming satisfied, Jess walked away. As you blindly took a seat at Venom's booth.
"Oh! I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to assume-"
"It's alright" Venom assured, "I'm not waiting for anyone."
Making yourself comfortable in the seat across from him. Adjusting your costume, as you awkwardly smile at the symboite.
"So... how has your... night been?" His voice held an unsure tone, as Venom tried to break the ice.
"Pretty good, thank you." Your smile turned more warm, appreciating the attempt of a convocation. "As you saw, some friends and I decided to have a night out. But after dancing for a few hours, I'm feeling kinda tired."
"I understand. I'm slowly getting over this headache" Venom continued to rub his temples. But held out a free hand towards you, "forgive me. I haven't introduced myself. We- I am Venom."
Hesitating a little before you outstretched your hand. Yours barely fit in Venom's oversized digits, as his fingers carefully engulfed your whole hand, giving a tiny shake.
"I'm... Y/N, and Venom? Is that a stage name or something? Your costume is really outstanding by the way."
Your hand returned to your side, as did Venom's as he continued to speak. "Well... let's just say, it's a name I go by. And my costume? Oh! Yes! Thank you. I like yours as well."
You felt your cheeks redden slightly, as you played with the maid skirt. "Oh, it's just a cheap thing from the local costume store..."
The symboite smiled a toothy grin, a shiver ran down your spine. But out of fear? Or fascination? You honestly couldn't tell. Sensing your unease, Venom tried to relax his features in an attempt to expose less of his teeth.
"So uh... what made you come here tonight?" You asked in an attempt to keep the convocation going. Venom lounged back in the seat, taking up room as he rested his arm upon his lap. "I needed to... get away from my... room mate."
"Why?"
His milky white eyes gazed at you with curiosity. His hand slightly clutching onto his leg, as a strange and unfamiliar feeling curled within his chest.
"Why?... Well... We had an argument."
"About what? Must of been pretty bad for you to leave."
"It was nothing. Just an disagreement, which turned into an argument. Which resulted in me leaving. Thus here I am! With new people! Having the time of my life!.-"
"Venom... living with people can be hard sometimes. but you can't just leave whenever someone upsets you, or disagrees with you.-"
His attention snapped back at you,
"Eddie started it! He accused me of 'ruining' things, 'complaining' all the time! Even went as far as, claiming everything was better till I came along!"
His strong fist slammed on the table, the vibrations rippling through the wood. And into the fabric of the seating, "Little did he forget! It was I who made Eddie so great! Therefore he would continued to be useless without me!-"
"Did you?" Your calm and collected tone caught the symboite off guard. "Did you make everything worse?."
Venom's mouth opened but no sound followed. Just sat there in silence, as a frown formed across his face. Then after a hesitation, his expression relaxed, as he looked away in thought. The strange feeling within his chest begun to build.
What... is my heart doing? It's achy and strange. He thought.
A slight sigh left him, as Venom reflected upon his behaviour earlier.
"I... apologize. To you and Eddie... I was rude, on both accounts."
His eyes closed, while he went back to rubbing his temples.
"Eddie and I often do try to- what's the expression? See eye to eye?... Earlier today, I accidently interfered with his work. Well... more like got into a fight with someone at his work. But I apologized! I understand Eddie was angry, but he wouldn't let me explain! He just rambled on how I ruined things! And his life!-."
"Explain to me then."
Again your gentle tone stopped him mid-speech. Venom sensed your sympathy, and the feeling of someone being concerned for him... well, it felt good. Not that Eddie never showed such emotion towards him, but it was rare to feel it from another person. Even from those who knew about Venom and Eddie, the symboite always knew they sympathized with his host more.
"Explain to me."
Venom continued to stare into space, "I know Eddie, just as well as I know myself. We've... seen the best and worse of each other. We don't always agree with things, but we try..."
What is this feeling? Why am I... being emotional?
You reached out for Venom's relaxed fist, sensing that he was choosing his next words carefully.
"He was... interviewing a prisoner. Seeing if he could snap up any last words for himself, or for his victims. But instead..."
A low growl rumbled within his throat, as he gently gave your hand a little squeeze. "Instead the bustard said, how much of a 'cancer' Eddie is to people who's known and loved him."
His grip around your fingers curled tighter. "And not shutting up, about Eddie and his ex-fiancé! And speaking shit about Eddie's father not loving him just because his wife died!-"
"Ow Venom!-"
"Eddie's mother died giving birth to my friend! That pathetic scumbag of a human, had no right speaking in such filth! How dare he speak to Eddie, as if he murdered his mother!-"
"Venom!-" looking down at his hand strongly grasping at yours, Venom quickly pulled away, after seeing the watery tears within your eyes.
"I-I'm so sorry, Y/N! I didn't mean to! I-"
"You have quite the grip" You attempted to smile through the pain, as you opened and closed your hand for a quick minute. "I'm alright."
After a moment, you looked back up at Venom. Seeing the hurt behind his milky eyes.
"What that prisoner said was beyond awful. He had no right speaking about Eddie that way."
Venom relaxed once he was satisfied you wasn't scared, "indeed... that's exactly how I felt. And I got... into a fight with the scumbag."
"I suppose after that, Eddie was beyond annoyed."
"Either with me, or with the inmate. I honestly couldn't tell... By the time we got home. A disagreement erupted. Hurtful words were exchanged, and that just spun into a whole ass argument. And us fist fighting each other."
You reached out for his hand again, "sounds like you and Eddie need some time to cool off, and try talking to each other later.-"
"I suppose. But it's hard to decide where to go-"
"Why don't you stay at mine?"
Bewilderment just washed completely over the symbiote's face. You blushed a little more. "Well, just for tonight I mean..."
"B-But! But!-"
"Relax. Besides after tonight, you'll gain a new friend."
Your smile made Venom's heart flutter, as you slowly lead him out of the booth. He could only muster a mumbled, "ok." Before stumbling out of the club. Reaching the mouth of the ally, Venom placed his back against the wall and slid down.
"Venom?"
"I-I'm fine" he tried to assure you, through a weak smile. "I-I just need a minute."
Venom could feel the temporary host's body slowly start to reject him. Just like all the others he's been hoping to and from. Feeling your gentle touch upon the side of his face. Although he had to focus on each breath, he didn't want to take his sight off you.
"You're... so sweet."
"Take this costume off-."
"No!... No. I just need a minute. I'm just tired, that's all."
Thoughts begun to roll around in his head. Eddie always spoke of how the world was an 'unfair' and 'cruel' place. How if the world knew about Venom, it wouldn't end well. Yet here he was. Surrounded by people who treated him well and greeted with smiles, and you. You trying to nurse him back to health, as a concerned expression softened your face.
His heart fluttered again, as you fussed over him. All he wanted was one night of freedom. Where people didn't see him as a monster, a parasite. Just to try and fit into this world. And to end this amazing night with you.
All... I need is a new body. Just another one for a moment longer. He thought, but how? How can I go to another without freaking her out?.
"Is there anything I can do?"
His head perked up a little. Weakly smiling. "Yes... Yes there is one thing-"
"What?-"
"Can I have some water? I'm a bit thirsty."
"Of course! I'll be right back! Stay here!" you promised. Leaving a gentle kiss upon his cheek, before heading back into the club.
He waited till you were out of sight, before slouching against the wall even more. Placing a hand to his cheek where your cheery red lipstick marked with a kiss. Strange and unusual thoughts begun to swirl in Venom's head even more.
I want to know what she tastes like. How it feels to have her body close to mine.
It was always Eddie getting the women. And even when they were somewhat aware of Venom, their mood towards the purposed relationship quickly ended. Venom liked the idea of someone being attracted to him. Determined to not end his first night of freedom in this way, Venom looked around.
People pasted him, walking in and out of the club. Some simply just gave him a side glance and hurried away.
I just... need a new one. Only for a while longer, that's all. Just... a little longer-.
"Hey buddy, you ok?"
Rubbing his eyes a little, so he could refocus. Venom looked up slightly, seeing a guy tall and slim frame kneel towards him. The stranger smiled.
"Haha, had a little too much to drink, mate?"
"Haha, yeah... you could say that." Venom attempted to weakly smile.
"Can I give you a hand? I'm happy to help you get a taxi home, or wait till any friends of yours arrive."
"Thank you, but no need to trouble yourself. May I take your hand though?"
"Of course buddy. I'll help you up..."
Exiting from the club, in a little hurry, carrying a bottle of water with you. Making your way through the crowd that started to line up at the door. Approaching the spot where you left Venom, but only to find a guy leaning against the wall, vomiting his guts up. Mumbling in a confused daze.
"Venom?-"
"I'm here."
Emerging from a small corner on the other side of the ally, Venom's voice caught your attention as he slowly walked towards you. Raising an eyebrow, "you seem to be feeling better..."
The symbiote smiled as he held out a hand towards you, "yes. I apologize earlier. Something I eat didn't sit right."
You wasn't quite sure what to believe, looking over your shoulder to the guy behind you and back to Venom.
But... you were right here... You assured in thought.
Venom brushed a strain of hair out of your face, as he snapped you out of your thoughts. Gently taking the water from you and having a couple of sips from the bottle.
"Thank you, for helping me out"
"You're...welcome. I'm glad you're feeling better."
Venom nervously laughed a little. "Let's not allow this to ruin our night. I'll walk you home."
You returned his smile. "I'd like that."

I wanted to discuss the three times Din removed his helmet and the significance of each occurrence. I am aware it’s been discussed many times prior in various media styles and by far more educated Star Wars fans. Still I want to share my insight on them. Read it you wish. Or ignore if you prefer. I am ok either way.
The first time Din was near death. A place he had been before I am sure, but he seemed to understand this time was different, more serious. And he seemed almost okay with it. This was to be his faith. He was to accept it. IG-11 pointed out to Din that he was a nurse droid and had the ability to heal him. Great! But...he’d have to remove his helmet. That’s against the code. Even through the mask you can almost see Din struggling with the choice. He didn’t have to die. All he had to do was take off the damn helmet.
Still he couldn’t allow himself to break the oath. Then IG-11 pointed out that the oath said as a mandalorian he couldn’t show his face to another living creature and as a droid he didn’t fit that category. And there it was. A way for Din to be saved and keep his oath.
When the helmet is removed the look on Din’s face is a mix of pain and guilt. Pain for the obvious reasons. It was a miracle he had survived to this point. Guilt because though IG-11 was right with his reasonings Din still showed his face to someone else. One can’t throw away an oath, a life long (almost) promise and immediately be at peace with it.
The second occurrence is one of my favorite scenes and might even be my favorite episodes. It’s important to take some time to discuss Mayfield and his importance of these events. Very clearly he is struggling with a ptsd type event the second he sees Hess. I believe he very likely could have walked to the terminal, did what needed to be done, and himself and Din could be gone before Hess investigates anything. The chance of Hess even remembering Mayfield was quite slim.
Still, Mayfielfd was convinced he’d remember him and everything would blow to hell. Din knows they are on a time crunch and most importantly he had to get to Gorgu. There wasn’t any time to pissy foot around. So he volunteers to go to the terminal instead. Then Mayfield points out he can’t. Because it needs to scan his face. And once more without seeing his face you can sense the oh crap reaction from Din.
Yet...it’s still obvious that Mayfield is still struggling and just standing there was going to start drawing attention. Plus Gorgu. Din knew he didn’t have a choice and had to do it. Still one can tell Din thought/hoped there was a way to bypass the system with keeping the Stormtrooper helmet on. Of course not.
Before he can cover back up and be on their way Hess comes over. Starts asking random questions. Why? Who knows. Din isn’t prepared with any story to tell and is completely blindsided. Mayfield seems to get past his fear and runs in for the save.
The realization on Din’s face when there is no doubt that Mayfield has seen it is of heartache. He had hoped on covering up before anyone saw him. Now two had including a friend. Or whatever exactly you care to categories their relationship as. However Din quickly had to hide that emotion and focus on Hess and the entire conversation.
Then during the lunch Mayfield has the first row on the struggle bus. He is pissed. Of what he did in the past. What Hess did. Angry Hess doesn’t seem to understand that what they did was wrong. Meanwhile Din is likely feeling more naked and exposed then he has since he was a child sitting in the middle of it. He wants Mayfield to chill the fuck out so they can get the hell out of there. Be able to put his mandalorian armor back on and get to Gorgu.
Then Mayfield kills Hess. All hell breaks loose and they end up blowing the whole damn place up. Rightfully so. I love the very nonchalant of I never saw your face Mayfield tells Din as handing him the helmet. With all the shit he gave Din about is it “can’t remove your helmet or can’t show your face” discussion and basically belittling his beliefs in the end he is willing to allow Din to keep his dignity by acting like it never happened. Though with Din’s psychology struggles with it would that be enough?
Finally we have the shortest one. Allowing Gorgu to see him. To touch him. He loves Gorgu as if his own child. It’s a bond and connection Din likely has not felt since he had his parents. Somehow this strange magically green creature had broken through the armor around his heart and it felt right that Gorgu deserved the chance for a real face to face farewell. I wonder if Din put the helmet back on after Gorgu and Luke left or did he turn around without wearing it allowing the others to see him? I hope it was the second and his way of finally accepting the no removal rule to be bs. Though I’m not sure…
Honorable mention we have the earliest one with Omera. I think that was the first time Din considered for half a second of giving up his lifestyle and settling down. He clearly cared for and she brought him peace. But when Gorgu was almost killed reality came rushing back in and he knew it could never happen. Maybe sometime in the future...

MANDALORIAN SPOILERS, OBVIOUSLY
ALSO LONG POST
Ok so my problem with Ahsoka refusing to train Jorge Gorgu is the lack of Change for the Jedi
The old EU was full of very stupid things, but the Jedi changed through time. The Republic Jedi Order was a terrible organization, with very good people for the most part, but it was self-centered, arrogant, it was unflexible and unable to deal with new challenges or even political issues like slavery, and of course there’s the whole “kidnapping children” thing
And yes, the “fucking is inmoral” thing which no doubt let to a lot of sexual frustration, but I don’t think that’s as bad as the main thing the prohibition of “”attachment”” implies: the Jedi Order was against its core value of love and compassion. Anakin wasn’t allowed to love Padmé, of course, but he also wasn’t allowed to love his mother, or to trust into his master or his padawan. And this led to the downfall of the Jedi Order. This isn’t just me projecting btw, it’s a subtext through all the prequels and even explicitly told to us in Attack of the Clones. George Lucas practicaly hits you with a stick and tells you that the problem isn’t that Anakin Can’t Fuck you dumbass, it’s that Anakin Can’t Love.
And thus the Order falls, and the Empire rises. And when Luke comes along, Luke who loves his friends, who loves his father despite everything, who tries to see the best in people and adheres to the Jedi values of love, compassion and justice, defeats the Empire, he refounds the Jedi Order and tries to correct the errors of the past. Now, Luke’s Jedi Order in the old EU had a lot of problems (the EU in general had them) but he TRIES, OH MY GOD DOES HE TRY to do things better than the previous order. And that was the whole point, the Jedi changed, things change.
So what does this all has to do with Ahsoka and the Mandalorian?
Well the thing is that Ahsoka is an amazing character with an amazing arc. She starts as the optimistic padawan of Anakin Skywalker, one of the order’s most powerful jedi, and ends up disillusioned with the Jedi Order, but instead of falling to the Dark Side, she tries to find her own path in the Force and becomes a knight errant and leader of the rebellion, helping people through the galaxy in her own way. She is a wandering hero who has doubtlessly experienced much, walked down a lot of paths, and sees the Force beyond the dogmatic way she was taught as a child.
And what happens after 40+ years of wandering and seeking her own path when she returns in The Mandalorian? She concludes that just like Yoda said, Attachment is Bad, and you should start training Jedi as newborns or else they will be contamintated by the evil spirit of, having a family I guess. Basically parroting the same lines of the failed order she left long ago.
If she had said “I cannot train him, I’m busy with my own quest” or “I am not sure I can train anybody, but maybe someone else can help you...” (because of course, we can’t end the series just with her taking baby yoda away in the middle of the season, I understand that) it would have been bad writing but tolerable. But instead, they confirm that the closeminded dettachment they taught was right, and her own experience during all those years of exile was wrong. This is such a disrepect to the character because it erases the path she had walked through decades. It’s just bad.
But it’s also bad because it also tries to confirm that being “detached”, loveless, and rejecting family and any connections is also a core trait of the Jedi now, something that all Jedi Must Do. The fact that that lack of connections led Anakin to the Dark Side is brushed away, the fact that it was Luke’s attachment and connection what led to the ultimate defeat of the Sith is also brushed away. There is no change. It also confirms that the old Jedi were “right”, despite the narrative telling us again and again that it wasn’t the case.
So does this mean that being a Jedi is now just wearing a bathrobe, using a blue-green lightsaber and being a virgin? After all that, we return to the same thing? We haven’t seen much if anything of Luke’s Jedi Order, but the writing seems to imply that. If so, what was the point of all this, of just returning to square one and remaking the Jedi like they were before, a closed order of arrogant mystics?
(well, it doesn’t matter because according to Disney Kyle killed them all later lol... but that’s a whole other problem)
ok maybe I’m ranting too much but whatever, my point is that the entire Star Wars narrative makes it clear that the old Jedi had flaws, and that the new Jedi should avoid them. Justifying the terrible teachings of the old Jedi order is just bad writing, and is just another example of Disney trying to write the same thing again and again (see: the entire Sequel trilogy) instead of meaningful change.

Secret Solstice Santa
Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays @itsbrindleybinch! I hope you enjoy your gift, it was so lovely to receive your letter and was great fun writing this! Thank you to @andi-the-cat for organising this! Rating: Fluff Word Count: 1982
“Ok, let me try and get this straight.” Zeph held up his hands and stepped towards Freya, the rest of the Pend Pals looking just as confused as he does. “We each write down our name and put them inside this box,” Freya nods. “And we then pick a name and buy that person a present?”
“Without telling anyone who you picked, yes!” She chuckles as she hands around small slips of paper, watching as everyone scribbles their names and drops the paper into the box. After a vigorous shake, she passes the box back around and lets everyone grab a name.
“So we just buy this person a gift?” Atlas frowns at the paper in her hands, scrunching it up and shoving it deep into her pocket. “Sounds easy.”
“Nothing too expensive, remember, just a small something you think they’ll like. And we can swap them all tomorrow at movie night!” The Sun Att is practically glowing with excitement. “I’m going to Penn Square now; I’ll see you all later!”
The Pend Pals split in different directions, Beckett waiting until everyone had disappeared to lace his fingers through Freya’s.
“May I join you?” He gently pressed his lips to her temple, revelling at the pink blush that graced her cheeks - every time he kisses her, without fail. She nods, allowing him to open a portal that they both step through, feeling the warmth of Penn Square surrounding them.
“Do you know what you’re going to buy?” She nudged him gently, squeezing his hand.
“I… have had a few thoughts,” he frowns slightly, “These Attuneless traditions are fascinating, yet beyond me.” Beckett smiled ruefully, smoothing his blazer out of habit. “…Freya?”
He turns to Freya, her attention focused entirely on a store a few doors down from Maison D’Yew. Beckett examines the window display she’s staring so intently at, rows upon rows of glowing lights, lamps, and holograms. His mouth opens to speak before immediately closing it again, not even knowing what to say.
“Wait here.” His shopping companion drops his hand before dashing to the store, not even giving his brain time to catch up. He rocks on his feet for a few moments before a market stall catches his own eye. Freya would find him when she was finished.
He trailed his finger across the stacks of Muse records, occasionally flicking them out to read the front.
‘Perfect for the Earth Att, this Muse offers a grounding boost of energy to the adventurous!’
Beckett smiled to himself, paying for the Muse and tucking it under his arm, wrapped in a golden tissue to disguise the gift. Maybe there wasn’t much to this ‘Secret Santa’ thing after all.
His purchase was well timed, as Freya reappeared from the store, carrying a gift bag stuffed with black paper. She beamed at him, reconnecting their hands, and raising an eyebrow at the square under his arm.
“Did you find what you needed, darling?” Beckett murmured into her red hair, breathing in the delicate scent. Freya hummed happily in response, hugging his arm close to her, blushing again at the pet name. She tilted her head up to him, and their lips almost touched before they were interrupted by-
“Gross. Get a room.” Atlas appeared behind them, playfully elbowing Freya in the side. “Whose name did you two get?” She prodded at the bag in her twin’s hand before swiftly receiving an elbow to her own side.
“The whole point is not to tell anyone! Are you here to get your present?”
“S’pose so.” Atlas shrugged, looking around the square. “Don’t have a clue what it is yet though.”
Freya looked from her twin to Beckett. “You go on ahead,” she brought his hand upwards and softly brushed her lips against the palm of his hand. Atlas gagged silently and pointedly turned her back. “I’ll stay and help Atlas find something appropriate.”
Beckett’s hand traced the side of her cheek and lightly ran his fingers through her soft hair. Upon receiving a look from Atlas, he blushed and took a step backwards, clearing his throat quietly.
“Yes…” He trailed off, reddening further at Freya’s giggle and Atlas’s raised eyebrow. “I- I’ll head back now then.” A portal quickly opened, and he was gone.
Freya turned to her sister with a grin. “You need to stop doing that to him.”
“Never.” Atlas broke into an almost-smile of her own. “Not until you two stop doing that first.”
The redhead rolled her eyes and linked their arms. Atlas sighed and allowed the contact, secretly enjoying the closeness she had been without for so long.
“So,” Freya pulls Atlas into step beside her. “I’m hoping you have some idea on where to start looking.”
Atlas made a face. “Not really,” she tips her head backwards and huffs, “Was just gonna grab whatever works.”
Her twin stops and pulls her around to face her. “What’s up? You’re never usually in a mood like this.” Freya asks, her voice laced with concern, eyes sad. Atlas shrugged, looking downcast.
“I just… I want it to be right, you know?” She shook her head gently, allowing her silver hair to obscure her face. “I’ve never done something like this, with… with friends. I can’t mess it up.”
Freya brightened instantly. “Then I know you’ll find something amazing. I know that my present is perfect,” She tucked Atlas’s hair back and grinned competitively, “And I know you won’t stop looking until you manage to find something even more perfect than mine.”
Atlas froze for a moment, before the smile she was fighting back broke through. She dragged her sister into a fast walk towards a boutique on a quiet street. “You’re gonna be so jealous of my gift-giving skills.” The twins laughed, Atlas leading them into the cluttered store and breaking their arms apart. “Get lost. I’m going to find the best present now.”
“Liar.” Freya ran to the far end of the store. “I’m going to find you the best present, and then you’ll have to tell everyone that it was actually my idea!”
“You don’t even know who I’m buying for!” Atlas called back, digging through a rack of jewellery.
Freya popped her head around the corner and held up a… yeah, Atlas had no idea what that was. She stared incredulously at her sister.
“It’s a…” Freya frowned and grabbed the label hanging off the item. “Gorgue home intrusion detection system!’ Atlas shook her head at the hideous frog-shaped lump.
“See, this is why I’m going to find the best gift,” Atlas thumbed through a collection of necklaces, her eyes lighting up as she read through the labels. “Go look at the stuffed toys or something.”
Freya pouted at her sister, turning away to fiddle with the ears of an Arylu toy. When her back was turned, Atlas grabbed a bundle from the table and quickly paid, stuffing the item in her pocket. Freya noticed the quick movement and gasped in mock offence, Atlas simply smirking and leaving the store.
Outside, Freya looped their arms back together, bumping her head against Atlas’s shoulder. Her twin smiled and pulled them back towards the college, the sun just beginning to set in the sky.
The following evening, the Pend Pals gathered in the Roost for a Christmas movie evening, another insistence from Freya. A small pile of presents rested on the floor, only to be opened after at least one movie had been watched. Zeph sat on the floor, throwing snacks for Atlas to catch in her mouth. Aster and Griffin chatted animatedly about his scholarship, and Beckett watched with a raised eyebrow as Shreya examined each of the secret parcels.
It was the perfect setting for a night of happiness and friendship, Freya thought, as she smiled around the room.
The group sat through the movie, Aster and Zeph pestering Freya with questions and Shreya critiquing the film for its lack of ‘real magick’ and how ‘Solstice makes more sense’. The instant the end credits appeared, Atlas jumped up from her seat and almost threw herself upon the gift pile, using air magick to throw them into the ceiling as she searched for her own. Zeph counteracted her small tornado and dragged the presents back down to the ground, receiving a punch to the shoulder and a scowl from Atlas.
Beckett sighed and picked up the presents, checking the labels and passing them around. Tissue flew around the room as the group tore into their gifts, eager to see the contents and find their mystery giver.
“What is it?” Aster beamed at Zeph, holding her present in her hands.
“First off, how did you know it was me?” Zeph pouted. Aster held up the label on the gift, scrawled writing saying ‘Aster! Merry Christmas and Happy Solstice! Love-’ Zeph’s name could be seen scribbled out before being replaced with a string of questions marks.
Atlas snorted, and Zeph sent a pile of gift wrap flying into her face. He turned to Aster and grabbed the black orb from her hands, shaking it.
“It’s an Attuneless fortune teller! You ask it a question and it predicts the future… kind of. There’s no actual magick involved though. Am I the greatest friend ever?” He stopped shaking the ball and held it out.
‘Signs point to no.’
Aster wrapped Zeph in a tight hug and took the orb. “It must have been wrong that time, because I love it! I can’t wait to tell the saplings about Attuneless magick!”
Across the room, Griffin pulled Beckett into a one-armed hug, the Muse tucked under his other arm. Beckett held back a grimace and allowed the embrace, soon pulling back and adjusting his blazer, hiding a small, self-satisfied smile.
Freya turned to watch as Atlas unwrapped her present, holding the moon-shaped object in her hand. She leant against her sister’s shoulder, and tapped the top of the ball, watching as it lit up in a perfect image of the moon in the sky and projected stars across the room.
“This is the exact position the stars were in on the night we were born,” Freya smiled at Atlas, spinning the moon around in her hands. “The moon is so you never forget who you are, and the stars so you never forget who _we _are. Where we came from.”
Atlas stared at the glowing moon, and bit her lower lip. She nudged her twin gently with her shoulder and smiled, not saying a word for fear her voice would betray how emotional the gift had made her. She blinked a few times, and rubbed her eyes.
“Forgive the intrusion, but by process of elimination, you must be the one to have given me my gift.” Beckett appeared next to Atlas, who quickly returned to her usual demeanour.
“Yeah,” She shrugged, looking at the pair of necklaces in Beckett’s hand. “You two love all that mushy stuff.” She walked away to pour herself a drink, leaving Beckett and Freya alone.
“What are they?” Freya lifted one out of Beckett’s palm, turning it over to examine the glowing centre.
“They’re separation charms. Two people share a set and when you’re apart and thinking of each other, they glow.” Beckett took the necklace back from Freya and clasped it behind her neck. “I hope we’re never apart for too long, but should it happen, this way you’ll know I’m always thinking of you.” He put on his own and tucked it beneath his shirt.
Freya linked their hands together, resting her head on his shoulder and watching the rest of her friends laugh and joke across the room. Suddenly, she perked her head up with a small frown on her face.
Beckett turned to her. “Is everything alright? You look annoyed about something.”
Freya shook her head slightly.
“I think Atlas may have just won Secret Santa.”
