[!] random vent post, not targeted at anyone in particular, but just an overall vent about some people that have taken my own writing/fic concepts + plots without giving me credit or posting them before gaining my permission

listen, I know that idea came from me, I know the concept came FROM ME, I know that title, CAME FROM ME, so quit pretending like you came up with that all by yourself and just fess up yeah? I wasn't mad, but now I am because you're not giving me credit for a concept that I came up with, i'm mad now because you're denying something that clearly came FROM ME, both you and I know that, and you pretending that it's your own original idea doesn't make you any better of a writer, okay?

i'm aware i'm an above average writer, I'm aware that people like my stuff for a reason, and i'm aware that I am GOOD at coming up with story ideas, but that doesn't give you ANY right to copy my work, especially when you don't give me credit, nor does it give you any right to use my concepts and post them before you gain my permission thinking that I won't be mad just because we're "friends"

yes I might be dramatic, yes i'm aware that art is an intellectual property and an idea can't be owned, but when you don't credit someone for inspiration, you aren't an artist, you're just a thief pretending to be one.

and "heavily inspired" isn't enough, if you need to take another person's ideas entirely, and only making a few minor tweaks to the plot without even making it your own, you aren't actually creative, you are stealing someone else's hard work

and you know what? I'm tired of pretending that i'm okay with that, I AM TIRED of trying to be the bigger person here, because what you did was WRONG and I'm not afraid to call you out for it, and if you are a person who steals and copies work, please stop, you don't want to make that a bad habit for yourself

Here's a crazy thought; You don't have to demonize the other guy to support a romantic pairing. Sometimes both ends of the imaginary love triangle are good, just in different ways. Let those who love love, and leave the hate at the door to be stuffed chewed on by the dog.

I don't know how to politely tell people that my blog isn't really a place for equal exchanges of discourse. I'm not here to debate anyone on the merits and faults of Aang, ATLA, or Zutara or anything else that happens to be on my mind. My opinions are my own. If you disagree with me, that's fine. I'm not interested in changing your mind, and while arguing is on occasion fun, just know that I'm not ever going to treat dissenting arguments seriously. Especially if they're rudely presented. If you have a problem with people being mean to Aang...well, honestly just block me. I mean that in the kindest, most respectful way. There's nothing for you here.

sometimes I just think about podcasts (strangers) that I've listened to a long time ago (literally years) talking about a movie I like (I'm not even in the room) and they're being mean about that movie (when they have a right to their own opinion) and I just think about all the ways that they're wrong (do some GOD DAMN RESEARCH) and I get so mad so mad so madddddddd (a perfectly normal & healthy thing for me to do)

I love libraries.

I'm browsing the WWI shelves (as you do) and notice a very old book about the war. I glance at the first pages that talk about how one day the war will be over and we'll look at this place and not see any signs of the battlefield.

Then it hits me. And I check the publishing date.

This book was printed before the war's end. Not written. Printed. The physical object was created in 1918, while the war in question was raging and the end was as yet uncertain.

Now I'm standing on the other side of the apocalypse, with this physical link to that era in my hands. I'm living proof that the war did end and life did go on and we can all look at the end of the world as a long-ago memory.

Reading old books is cool enough, connecting our minds and hearts through the ideas of people who lived long ago, but there's something extra profound about holding a copy of the book that comes from the time that it was written. It's a physical link between the past and the present connecting me to those long-ago people. A piece of the past come into the future that gives me the chance to almost take the hand of some long-ago reader, to hold something they could have held, connecting not just mentally but physically to their era, a moment of connection across more than a century.

I loved the first commission so much, I couldn't resist ordering another one as a parallel of sorts! This lovely drawing is by @toktopus-art. It's based on a scene from Chapter 26 of my vamp!Eddie/Steve-gets-Vecna'd fic, laughing at the broken glass.

Chuckling, Steve tugged his sleeve down before lifting up his wrist. To his pleasant surprise, the glow-in-the-dark effect was actually noticeable. Eddie took a moment to share in the admiration of the bracelet before grabbing Steve’s hand and tugging it down. “This is better, yeah?” Eddie asked. “Huh?” Steve turned to look at him again, but Eddie was staring straight up at the sky. “Than just sitting in your car in the freezing cold by yourself, I mean.” “I had Freddie Mercury with me.” “I’m serious.” Eddie finally turned his head to face Steve again. His expression certainly matched his words. Steve couldn’t help but tense up at the shift in tone, though he was swiftly eased by the way Eddie’s thumb brushed across his knuckles. “I...hate that you even have to ask.” Steve managed to smile, even though Eddie frowned at that. “Yeah, this is better.” One song left. It wasn’t fair.
