sum: you and case were currently filming a video for your youtube channel, you were at mcdonald’s chillin. however, case soon became agitated as a “fan” got a little to close to you.

overtime, you had been able to rack up 2.6 million followers on twitch, and 1.4 million on youtube. you were able to make quite a name for yourself, giving you opportunities to do brand deals for clothing brands, and tech-y brands. as well, you’d met some great people such as, jynxzi, his girlfriend breckie, sketch, and caseoh.

quite quickly, you and caseoh clicked. instantly becoming great friends, and hanging out every chance you could, as well as streaming together. such as, PO box openings, playing 3 scary horror games or even filming a few vlogs for your separate youtube channel.

it was obvious that you and case liked each other, but you were both to shy to make the first move. case knew he was yours, just as you knew, you were his.

currently, you and case were clutching at your stomachs as you were both laughing uncontrollably at the the camera. you had seen such a funny moment take place and neither of you could get it out of your mind. you were sat outside of mcdonald’s eating some nuggets, that you both shared.

“i’m sorry that was hilarious” case says while wiping the corners of his eyes, you breathed out slowly as you attempted to calm yourself down. after a bit you continued you talk about some random topics, making sure to address the camera every once and awhile.

while talking, a guy who seemed to be in his early twenties walked up to you and began talking. “hi! i’m a big fan i was just wondering if i could get a picture with you?” you placed does your drink down and nodded to the man. “hi! of course! what’s your name?” the man smiled sweetly. “adam” you smiled back, standing up and wiping off any crumbs.

you clicked off the camera really quickly.

this isn’t the first time someone has asked you for a photo, it doesn’t annoy you too much as you enjoy interacting with your fans. “can you take the picture?” adam asks, pointing his phone towards case, not very kindly either.

you frowned slightly, case sat there staring at the guy, before moving. “yup” he replied, as he took his phone and placed his half eaten nugget down and stood from his chair.

adam placed his hand on your hip and pulled you to his side. you were kind of uncomfortable, you didn’t expect for him to be so handsy, case continued staring not wanting to show his irritation.

“could you maybe put your arm on my shoulder maybe? sorry..” you spoke with a quiet voice, feeling uncomfortable by even bringing it up. “it’s only one photo” adam said, trying to justify his action.

“she said move your arm, do it your not having a picture with her” case spoke up, trying his hardest to hide the pure jealousy. that should be him holding your hips, should be him getting close to you and holding you close to him.

adam cleared his throat and did as he was told. you smiled sweetly, and case took the photo. almost immediately, case handed the phone back to adam. “thank you” he said quietly, walking away from you both.

you hugged your arms, and looked over to case. he watched the guy as he walked away, “are you okay?” he asked, making his way over to you. “yeah, i just didn’t expect him to do that” he nodded and took your hand leading you back to the table.

“i know, i mean he could of least gave you a warning, there was no need for all that” you raised your eyebrow at him “i mean really, he had no basic respect for you. and he should, especially in your presence” he spoke as he used his nugget to point at you. “i don’t like the way he held you, wasn’t right i m-”

“are you jealous, case?” he turned to you and shook his head. “no, why would i be jealous..” you giggled to yourself.

“i’m not jealous”

“okayy”

“don’t do that, i’m NOT”

“okay okay!” you looked over to him, smiling.

“okay maybe just a little, how could i not be though!?” case explained playing with his cap. you could tell he was nervous. “i just didn’t like how he held you like that, he was too close for my liking” he shrugged as he defended himself.

“it’s okay, i understand. i think i’d react the same” he sighed, feeling guilty about the way he reacted, he didn’t want to look you. his knee bounced as he thought about what he said.

you scooted closer to him, and wrapped your hand about his arm. “heyy, it’s okay i promise. i get why you reacted the way you did. no need to be ashamed” you flashed him a sweet smile, and kissed his cheek.

immediately his cheeks went a dark shade of red, you giggled to yourself as you watched him smile to himself. his knee had calmed down completely.

“thank you”

Plot Holes in High and Low We Need to Discuss

Thank you so much everyone tagged for staying up and talking about the movies with me last night😂❤

Trigger warnings before you start reading, this ramble posts contains spoilers for the movies, cuss words, mentions of character d3aths, mention of SA that happens to a character, and other violence and cr!me associated with the H&L franchise. Please don't read if you do not want to see any of these.

Anywaysssas as you can tell by the title of this post and this screenshot, we are talking about plot holes in the High and Low franchise that we need to talk about because they BUG THE SHIT OUT OF ME.

I would like to start by saying that I do love this franchise, it is my everything. It's not like I have anything bad to say about it, I love it as it is, but some of the stuff within the franchise definitely could've been more thought out. It could've been worse! So I am thankful it wasn't bad but there are some things I wish the writing team did a little differently.

Also, I do attribute a lot of the plot holes to 1) the creators not being entirely sure whether or not they would get a green light on more movies, 2) trying to make sure the movies made money (it's a business unfortunately and not just art), and 3) High and Low is a multi-media franchise so some stuff is probably explained in the mangas, TV shows, games, etc. I will contradict myself and discuss this more in detail as we keep going.

These are in no particular order, just what comes to mind first

S.W.O.R.D Era

1)Noboru and Miho's story

I have beef with whoever on the H&L writing team thought that condensing the 2 seasons of Story of S.W.O.R.D into Road to High & Low was a good idea. "It's both seasons condensed into one movie" THAT'S A FUCKIN LIE. So much of what is in the shows is cut out from the movie.

Tell me why I learned here on Tumblr that Noboru actually spent a while in a coma in the hospital after getting body slammed by a Kuryu car? And then Cobra and Yamato had to do the "IF YOU DIE I'M GONNA BE SO MAD AT YOU" speech you always see in Asian dramas to get Noboru to wake up?!

And tell me why I learned from a fanfic on Wattpad that Miho isn't dead?! She literally comes to visit Noboru while he's in the hospital. Road to High & Low frames the situation to make it look like Noboru goes to beat up Miho's SA perpetrators after he finds he d3ad in her apartment. Then when I brought this up a couple weeks ago the Discord besties told me she broke up with him through a letter😭 A LETTER GIRL?! HE WENT THROUGH ALL THAT FOR YOU! IF I WAS YOU I WOULD'VE KEPT HIM. NOBORU. GIVE ME YOUR HAND IN MARRIAGE PLEASE GOOD SIR💍 (I'm completely joking I don't think anyone is entitled to another person's feelings, love, affection, etc. I'm just delusional because I love Noboru and Keita Machida)

Then I learned last night from Discord that Miho needs serious therapy because she was working for Doubt and it was addressed in season 2 of the show. Like HUUUH?! WHAT DO YOU MEAN?!

I do think the storyline between them as a couple and their stories individually definitely could've been explored and explained more. It was probably explained better in the show than RTH&L but I don't have access to the show so idk... which brings me to my first contradiction!

LDH AND EXILE TRIBE PLEASE MAKE YOUR MEDIA MORE ACCESIBLE GOSH. IF YOU DON'T WANT TO SUB IT THAT'S FINE AT LEAST MAKE IT EASIER TO FIND SO THAT WE CAN GET FAN SUBS OR I CAN JUST WATCH THE RAW FOOTAGE AND PRETEND I KNOW WHAT'S HAPPENING. There's so many films like the 2 DTC films, the Mighty Warriors film, the shows, even the manga that a lot of us don't have access to😭 Yes this franchise is multi-media but at least make the media accessible😭

2) Mighty Warriors working with Doubt

In the first and second High & Low movie MW and Doubt work together... AND THAT LITERALLY DOESN'T MAKE ANY SENSE. Last I checked Mighty Warriors don't fuck with tr@ffickers in general so I don't even know why this happened.

And last I checked, MW rescued Sarah from Doubt so why would they work with Doubt when one of their members was literally a Doubt victim? That just doesn't make sense to me. Like yes the MW tend to just take up whatever whack-ass jobs for money they can get considering they fought with literal children (Oya and Rude Boys. I'm like 99.9% sure the Rude Boys members were all 16-19 and that is the age of children. Smoky might've been 20-22 which is not exactly a child but he's still young compared to the MW who were all mercenaries and in the military before they were musical bandits alluding to the fact they are older) but you would think that people who claim to have a club that is a utopia with music that is supposed to impact people positively and save their lives just like music saved the MW members' lives, they would have more moral and standards than to work with Doubt.... but I digress.

3) The alliance with a foreign mafia

This one I can kind of understand but also can't.

I understand that MW take up whatever job they can to make money. It's said directly multiple times in the movies by a MW member that there is no use doing a job for someone without getting paid so they do a lot of stuff just for the money. I also understand Doubt take whatever job pays them but also benefits their tr@fficking business. Hence why they took this job because not only were they getting paid by Lee who runs the Korean mafia but they could kidnap women in the S.W.O.R.D district which worked in their favor.

What I can't understand though is how this alliance even came to be. Hear me out. MW and Doubt will probably do whatever to get money, but where did the trust come from? Like how did they trust that a foreign mafia of all people would uphold their deal and pay them? Was it because Kohaku was made the front-man/face of the plan? Like did they believe that it would be fine because Kohaku was the one "leading" even though it seemed like Lee was pulling a lot of the strings? DOES KOHAKU EVEN HAVE ENOUGH MONEY TO BE PAYING EVERYONE?! I SWEAR EVERY TIME WE SEE HIM THAT MAN IS JUST LAYING ON A SOFA IN A JUNKYARD! WDYM DOUBT AND MIGHTY WARRIORS BELIEVED THIS MAN WAS THE ONE WHO WAS GONNA GIVE THEM MONEY?!

4) Who the fuck are Bulge? And what happened to Kuryu?

In End of Sky, we learn that Bulge are interested in the fight between Doubt, Prison Gang, and White Rascals and would sponsor Prison Gang. That's why the scene where we see Jesse fighting with another prisoner, after he kicks him down the guards tell Jesse that Bulge wants to see him to. This is why Jesse and Prison Gang are released early. When Jesse goes back to Funk Jungle he's asking if Mighty want to join but Ice says that they are gonna focus on promoting Funk Jungle, but like he's a liar they show up at the fight anyways lol.

A the end of Final Mission, the movie closes off with a dramatic shot of Mighty Warriors and a typed out message stating "Hello, everyone. This is Bulge. The takeover plan has begun." We never get an explanation of who they are, what they do, etc. I did learn from Ryu's Wiki Fandom page however that "It is presumed that he and Bulge orchestrated the fall of Kuryu Group. In the music video of the MIghty Warriors' new song "Warriors Anthem", it is revealed that he took over Kuryu as the leader after the events of Final Mission, and having Mighty Warriors occupy the remaining 8 heads of Kuryu."

So who exactly are Bulge? How are they powerful enough to be able to take down all of the original Kuryu members who have been seen as indestructible the whole franchise? Why did they allow Ryu to be the new leader?

After Final Mission, the next media pieces that were released were the DTC show and DTC movie, and then we moved into The Worst era with High&Low: The Worst Episode 0 along with the two Worst movies that followed.

I had made the assumption that around the start of the Worst era the creators probably wanted to integrate more of Jr.Exile into the franchise because of their 1) popularity and 2) new stories. The popularity of Exile members like Hokuto and Kazuma would probably bring in more viewership which does good on the numbers and money side because as I said above, unfortunately this is also a business not just art. The H&L creators probably also needed new stories to follow because they can't keep adding to S.W.O.R.D

Vis said that they think the Mighty Warriors were probably dropped because we haven't seen anything from them since the third movie, but Taiga also brought up how the new Mighty Warriors music video was also dropped right around the time the most recent movie Worst X was released. This probably means they are trying to figure out the story within S.W.O.R.D behind the scenes and it's just taking a while to do the world building. Tired also brought up a good point that considering most of the actors in H&L are also Exile members, they have to also continue their jobs as artists so tours, making music, schedules, etc. are probably also clashing with filming and working on High and Low.

Hopefully that is the case and we see more because I have too many questions and no answers.

5) Wtf happened to Rude Boys, Nameless City, and Nikaido?

If you read my fics, you know that when I write about Nameless City after Smoky's passing, I write about how the Rude Boys, Lala, and Eri go and visit Smoky's grave all the time. About a month ago the besties in the Discord made it known to me that Smoky's gravesite and like 3/4 of Nameless City was completely blown up. I was like 😧when I read those messages because it wasn't even like a head-canon thing I genuinely thought that only a small section of Nameless City was blown up so we were fine BUT APPARENTLY WE AREN'T FINE. So what does this mean for the Nameless City residents?

Did they get government housing to stay in while they got tested for the disease from the pollution? Did the residents get released back into Nameless City after the whole casino project exposure? If they were released back into Nameless City, are they all just cramming into that little 1/4 of Nameless City that wasn't blown up?

What happened to Rude Boys afterwards? Are they all back in Nameless City? Or did they move to a different area? Where would they go though? Little Asia? Did Eri get adopted afterwards? Are they finding ways to make money like how they mined the crystal to get money to rebuild Nameless City? Do they even want to return to Nameless City considering the pollution from the toxic waste was causing the disease that killed their leader?

Wtf happened to Nikaido/Cain? Is he finally happy now that he purged his past? Was purging his past and killing his brother worth it? If Kuryu was overthrown and taken over by Mighty Warriors, what does that mean for Nikaido? Is he working for them? Was purging his past worth anything if he didn't even gain anything from it because MW took over Kuryu? Again, so many questions and no answers😭

6) Give us a more clear timeline

This isn't a plot hole, just something I wish the creators would do is give us a clearer timeline. We're never given any clear timeline of how much time has past between each movie or even how much time is between the S.W.O.R.D and Worst era. I'm always trying to calculate the timeline or everyone's ages based off of the only two characters we get ages for and Noboru's school timeline.

The only two characters in the whole franchise that we get ages for are Chiharu and Seki. At the start of the series we know that Chiharu is 20 because when he joins Sannoh, in the scene at the bar Cobra offers him a drink but takes it back and says "wait but aren't you underaged?" to which Chiharu replies that he is 20 (which is the legal adult age in Japan) and Tettsu makes fun of him for still being in high school as an adult (in good fun of course not in a mean way).

When we first are introduced to Oya, the narrator tells us that Seki is the oldest part-timer student there at age 25.

Noboru, Yamato, and Cobra were high schoolers while Mugen was still active. This is deduced by the scene where Yamato drops Noboru off in front of the school for the day he takes his exam, then when he opens up his college acceptance letter with them. I'm assuming Yamato and Cobra dropped out to be apart of Mugen and take care of their parents' shops. Then, we see when Noboru starts college but doesn't make it super far into his bachelors degree after getting sent to jail. We don't get to see how long he was in jail for, just that he was released early because Kuryu paid to get him out early.

I always use these ages and Noboru's vague school timeline to try and figure out the character's ages and shit but they are just estimates because we never get clear timelines from the creators. Like why couldn't they at least tell us how much time passed between the end of Final Mission and the start of The Worst?!😭anyways.... onto the next thing

The Worst Era (mainly X)

Like I said in the screenshot, The Worst isn't my favorite movie out of the franchise but I think it was the best executed in terms of plot out of all the movies. The plot was clear, very concise, and relatively had no plot holes. (I haven't seen The Worst Episode 0 so if there is something that is missing plot wise please let me know)

It was fun to see the cross with Housen and the themes and messages we got from not only the plot but also from each character were all really good too. It was a solid movie, no complaints.

The Worst X however... I have questions. It's not to say it wasn't good, I still liked it and obviously it was good considering I watched it with no context and it got me into the whole H&L universe, but I feel like it fell a bit short. There was more the writers could've done for not only plot development but character development.

1)How did that 3 school alliance actually even start?

From the movies, it seems like Kohei Amagai is well known as "the annoying son of the Amagai group". Like EVERYONE knows him and knows he throws around money to get people to work for him. And like yeah, we see when he is able to take control of the school with the beige uniforms because Senomon, Kamasaka, and Ebara are quite literally beating the shit out of them, but how did Senomon get Kamasaka and Ebara to cooperate?

I refuse to believe that Amagai was able to get Kamasaka who fight with weapons like brass knuckles and metal rods and Ebara who are all literal gym bros to join his stupid ass plan with just money. As dumb as I think boys are I don't think Reiji, Ghandi, Shoji, Raijin, or Fujin are actually dumb enough to join an alliance for money. Even if this alliance did win and take over Oya, what would they have done with each other afterwards? Those dudes have so much pride we all know that there is NO WAY they would all continue working under Amagai. Amagai is also stupid as hell if he thought he could be at the top without someone from Kamasaka or Ebara trying to overthrow him if he had taken down Oya like Kohei.... be fuckin for real bitch.

I need more of an explanation to this like someone from the H&L writing room please sit down with me and answer my questions so I can publish it in an interview for all of us we need answers.

2) What the fuck is the story behind Todoroki and the dudes from Ebara?

The whole time Fujin and Raijin are running around screaming about how they're gonna crush Todoroki and I literally sit there like

👁️👄👁️Why? No matter how many times I watch the movies because we never get an explanation! Idk was this in the show? Someone please tell me.

And like the scene after Todoroki beats up Fujin and Raijin, Shoji goes "you're different now" and I'm always like "Different? DIFFERENT HOW?! DON'T BE SHY SHARE WITH THE CLASS PLEASE"

Todoroki responds with something along the lines of "now I have friends to protect" which is so wholesome I love that, but what is the detailed history of him and the guys from Ebara? We never get that explained to us. I remember reading somewhere that Todoroki trained hard to beat his bullies and because he got so strong that's why he always tried to fight for the leader position because he believed he could beat Murayama. I also saw a clip on Youtube where when Murayama is fighting with Todoroki, he sees his old self in Todoroki who is being reckless which probably adds to Todoroki's character development.

Did the guys from Ebara bully Todoroki? Were they old friends who fell apart? Did they just have a bad run in when Todoroki was being a little shit and fought but now hold a grudge because they are teenagers with a lot of pride and anger issues and it's not that deep? Idk🤷‍♀️The thing that bugs me is the fact that their feud was added a solid amount to the plot and why Ebara joined then dropped the alliance so I don't know why we didn't get at least a vague explanation of who these characters are to each other.

3) Questions and what I want to see next movie

This obviously isn't plot holes but just some questions I have and what I want to see in the next installments of the franchise.

Why were these high schoolers doing THE FUCKIN MOST to see who was stronger?! The first time I watched I was so confused because why was this movie serious but also so unserious?! They did not need to be doing all that.

Why didn't Amagai get in any trouble for anything?! Is it because he has money?! Like how did this man commit literal crime and everyone was like okei. He literally kidnapped Tsukasa and tortured him for like half a day and 1 night...

How did Tsukasa not die?! The was literally beat over the head with a metal pipe, kidnapped, tied up, tortured, and then dropped from a balcony. I digress, he probably has plot armor as Sun calls it because how did he not die or at least end up in the hospital for a long time.

I want to see the movies circle back to the S.W.O.R.D plotline so it would be really cool if Amagai's little plan was part of a larger plan to break down the peace in S.W.O.R.D. It wouldn't be the first time the adults used kids to push their agenda. Kuryu originally wanted to use Murayama to tear down the peace in S.W.O.R.D because he used to look up to the man who was the head of Iemura but because he chose not to do it, they went after Noboru.

Maybe MW are thriving as the new heads of Kuryu so someone on the outside is trying to take over and Amagai's family is apart of that. Or maybe his family is trying to gain favor from Mighty and are working for them. Idk but it would be cool if we circle back to S.W.O.R.D and see the new Oya characters have to integrate into the S.W.O.R.D world also.

I also want to see a segment of how Rude Boys and Oya adjust to their new leaders.

I want to see what happened to the rest of S.W.O.R.D after the third movie. We saw Oya in The Worst era but what happened to everyone else? Which I also know these are probably kind of far fetched considering the Exile Tribe member who played Rocky is retired from the entertainment industry now... but a girl can dream I guess.

Community - S1e3

Introduction to Film - As Jeff struggles to get a good grade by convincing an eccentric professor of his sincerity, Britta's offer to bankroll his film class exposes a rift between Abed and his angry father.

I wish that girl who fell off of her desk in the beginning was a series regular

Also, that girl falling off of her desk was not actually scripted, it was a prop failure

Abed's father definitely thought that his son had a sugar daddy from the way he addresses Britta as Mr. Britta

He calls Abed a 'special boy's 😭

I wish we saw more of Abed's dad in the series

Where is all of Britta's money coming from? I doubt that the study group has made a deal with her parents yet. Does she have a job we don't see?

Pierce and Troy are obviously being set up as a duo in this episode, but the pull of Trobed is too strong

Abed's film is called Six Candles, which definitely feels like a reference to Sixteen Candles

The reveal of Abed's dad crying after his movie always makes me so emotional

as the number #1 brain parasites truther on here, i'm curious on your feelings about the upcoming bobby plot. do u trust that they're gonna do right by our boy? or do u think it's possible the brain parasites might strike again? ��

obviously i'm sooooooo excited to get more bobby lore, but there's just a tiny little part of me that's scared we might end up getting some bullshit ass story that's entirely ooc for bobby. ik he's been safe so far w/ the characterization, but idk man. i always get a little anxious when i hear a character's getting new lore drops

Not sure how I feel about that title. 😅️

I have been unhappy with a Bobby arc before. This was at the end of Season 5 after we had seen him struggle with being there for everyone, clearly heading to a breaking point, and then the resolution of his arc was basically a footnote in Eddie's storyline. (With Athena's visible concerns just being forgotten about completely.) This was the first time I was really disappointed in a storyline involving Athena and/or Bobby. (Sure, never dealing with any of his injuries considering his past has always been annoying, but this felt different.) I told myself it was the end of the season, and they just ran out of time to address Bobby's arc properly. The episode still annoys me, but I've made my peace with it because it left enough space for us to fill in the gabs. (There are some amazing writers out there who wrote their takes on how Bathena managed to go from 5x18 to 6x01, and I'm so grateful!)

Then Season 6 aired and that just felt very thought through. The setup for the Tanya storyline was great and 6x03 amazing. While focused on Athena, the story still showed and developed her relationship with Bobby as well. Hoover (my beloved) then also helped explore their new dynamic as empty nesters. We got episodes like What's Your Fantasy? showing us how comfortably they'd settled into their empty nest leading into the Wendall arc (that we all wished had been set up earlier for more emotional impact of his death) which really showed us how far those two have come together and individually. (Athena's approach to addiction and AA in Season 4 vs. attending a meeting with Bobby; Bobby trying to keep Athena out of his AA life vs. inviting her into his this part of his world)

The back half of Season 6 showed us even more of their development and growth. The blind faith in Recovery? Excellent. The adorableness and sexiness of Mixed Feeling? Perfect. The bitter-sweet anniversary in Love is in the Air? What an amazing way to show us how far they've come. Pay it Forward? *chef's kiss* We saw them really grow into a deep, stable relationship where they enjoyed spending time together not only around others but especially finally also just by themselves.

And then 7x01 happened. Abandon 'Ships. What a fitting title. This episode was no comparison to 5x18 because back then the end of the season productions stress and time constraints played a big role. None of that really applied here. They came off the longest hiatus ever. The actor's strike was still going on when the writers came back. It was the beginning of the season. There really was no other explanation for what they did with Athena, then they actively and purposely decided to put a plot they wanted to tell (Athena's increasingly erratic behavior confusing Bobby for what I assume was the laughs?) above who the characters were at that point in time. And that really struck me. This was the old showrunner coming in and just not caring about the previous episode(s) and season(s).

So now we are here, looking forward to (or bracing ourselves for?) this new Bobby arc at the end of an extremely condensed season, with them still filming much later than usual. With a showrunner who under much better circumstances just recently has shown that he will blatantly ignore established timelines and character development when it stands in the way of the particular story he wants to tell. (And I'm not saying he's not entitled to do that. It's his show.) So I'm setting my hopes and expectations very, very low. Because I'd rather be positively surprised by a brilliant continuation of Bobby's character arc than be deeply disappointed by another case of the brain parasites.

I finally watched Oliver Twist for the first time! I liked it a lot. Problematic makeup/offensive stereotype that's baked into the story aside, I thought it was brilliant. I can see so much from that film being borrowed by others, and the main one is Carol Reed. There is so much similarity between the look of Oliver Twist and the Third Man. I think he even borrowed the idea of the cat from Bill Sike's dog...

But I still need to figure out where it fits in my ranking based on how gay it is...

I feel like it's got a very dark edge to it and that is the hint there is a trafficking element to the relationship between Fagin and the boys. Over and over we hear that Oliver is "a nice looking boy" and this is almost always remarked on by older men such as Bumble, Brownlowe and Fagin. All of them say it all of them have Oliver in their custody for a time. In a sense they OWN him and he can be forced to steal for them or work for them or not as the case may be but of course Oliver never has any agency in any of this.

What are your thoughts on this?

I think David Lean's Oliver Twist is an untimely masterpiece and it's even more visually stunning and bolder than his previous work Great Expectations; he must have gained enough confidence from GE's success since breaking away from Noël Coward's protective wings and wanted to take a larger step with Oliver Twist. If I am to rank DL films, I'd put Oliver Twist in 3rd after Lawrence of Arabia and Brief Encounter. Nonetheless, aesthetic advancement is no excuse for ideological backwardness. It was very unfortunate that David Lean dared not even try taking a more critical approach to Dickens's offensive original text, instead he buried his head in sand trying to ignore Fagin's racial background and wishing no one read the book.

I'm glad someone finally mentions the interrelations between David Lean (especially his early films) and Carol Reed. Fun fact: David Lean first got into directing because of Carol Reed. Noël Coward wanted to make the war film In Which We Serve and Carol Reed told him he could never make it without David Lean. Lean was strongly influenced by Reed when he first started, the most notable example is the slanting composition in Brief Encounter when the suicidal Laura rushes out of the refreshment room. So I guess it's very possible and natural that Reed got one or two ideas from Lean's films as well (he saw GE and enviously said to Lean: I hope you throw yourself under a bus). But it's more likely that the cat is in Graham Greene's novel, I never read the novel so I can't say for sure.

As for the gay ranking, it's getting a bit too far innit XD. Oliver is like 10 or 11 of course he doesn't have agency and that he happens to be good-looking doesn't make his protectors/exploiters gay I guess 😭😭? But it's worth mentioning that in the novel Brownlow adopted Oliver not because he is Oliver's grandfather (as in the movie) but because Oliver is son to his deceased best friend whom he addresses as "my love" .

P.S. Reed himself made an Oliver Twist adaptation in 1968: Oliver! which I haven't seen yet.

Alright, so yesterday I watched with my mum The Personal History of David Copperfield (2019) and the movie was great, there are many things I absolutely love about this version and my mum who never read the original novel enjoyed it too.

But there is one part, one scene actually that absolutely should have been placed a bit earlier and the dialogue be a tiny bit changed. Seriously, I was so upset that I kept rumbling about it for half an hour to her afterwards!!!

Spoiler opinion for The Personal History of David Copperfield as well as the novel David Copperfield.

So, in the movie, after David and the whole gang confront Uriah Heep there is this moment of Dora suddenly being among them as well and asking the audience why she is here- cut to David writing and her talking to him, asking after a while to be written out as she doesn’t belong there. Now if you’ve read the novel you know that Dora would try to be helpful to him and would ask to hold his pens, so I loved the movie addressing that. If you’ve read the novel you also know Dora wasn’t there at the Uriah confrontation because she died before that.

Look, I’m not saying the movie should have shown all their happy married life and her tragic death, but there was definitely a better way to address her death without showing it.

Here is what they should have done:

The movie goes on like filmed all up to the moment when David wants to propose to Dora. He tries to propose to her and then we suddenly cut to him writing. He is looking at the page he has been writing at when Dora appears, she asks him to hold his pens wishing to be useful. He turns back to writing but continues to just stare at the same page again. Dora seems to be thinking about things and, while still with a smile, she says a bit sadly to him “You know, we did have it wonderfully, didn’t we? But, Dody, please write me out. You have to let me go.” She places the pens back on the table and quietly leaves. David is silently watching the place she just stood before finally continuing to write. AFTER THAT we see aunt Betsy and Mr Dick arriving and telling that they’re all ruined and poor. After finding a new accommodation for the three of them David remembers he promised James they’ll go to the coast. The visit to Yarmouth happens like in the movie and everything else too.

Now why the change of scene with Dora? Because in the movie she is just randomly forgotten for a time and then suddenly appears in a comic way. But if that pen scene would have been earlier then people who didn’t read the book would say “Oh, she said no to the proposal and he was sad but had to move on because his life went just downhill after that and he mistakenly puts her into the story later again because he still missed her” BUT people who had read the book would say “Oh, it’s that pen-scene from the novel, and oh he can’t write on because their marriage was so short and she died, and her saying here Let me go is him copping with the fact that she is no more 😭 yet he has to write on because life doesn’t stop, look it’s aunt Betsy and Mr Dick and they all lost their money, but James pulls David for a moment out of misery taking him to the coast and David meets the people of his happiest memories again, life is colorful again until Emily runs away with James! Oh, London life is bleak but David still takes in the Macawer family - and look all of them made him a small study to write in, he needs to write everything down! Agnes appears and they confront Uriah! For a moment there is Dora (because David would still love for her to be part of the story, but she says “Cut me out, I don’t belong here”.) The storm is coming, Emily is found, James drowns, David confesses to Agnes that he loves her. Happy End after much sadness”

Please may I have Fairy tail platonic headcanons of Gray Fullbuster with a little brother age 11 who is exactly like Harry Potter with Harry Potter's personality as well as Harry Potter's personality flaws and everything from the Harry Potter films. He is undeniably a sweet kid and he is a ice mage like Gray as well and he is a member of Team Natsu and a member of Fairy tail. Admittedly he is S class material and he is better than Gray at ice magic and everything and he is a kind boy...and very polite. He doesn't find Danger..it seemed to find him. He was willing to stand up to extremely powerful enemy Wizards to protect his friends no matter what the cost may be..it was a risk and it means asking for death but he is a Fairy tail wizard and if it means he can protect his friends so be it.

Oh man, it’s been a while since I’ve read the books and movie Harry is so different from book Harry. But yes! Of course! Fairy Tail is my favorite anime, it was the first long series I started and even if some people call it childish, I still love it. I honestly wish more people wrote for Fairy Tail. Maybe I'll write some more self-indulgent imagines/headcanons or something after.

A/N: That being said, I am terribly sorry for how long this has taken me. I've been struggling with uni lately which just creates horrid writer's block not to mention just makes me so unmotivated to write in general.

But it's done! And I really hope it's to your liking! I address Gray's younger brother as Little Fullbuster but I honestly could see him named something like Ash or Sterling, just something that fits the colour scheme of Gray and Silver.

General headcanons

Adored by the entire guild, obviously, how could Gray’s younger brother not be

Looks like a miniature Gray, same black hair, same dark blue eyes

Only difference really is his personality

Unlike Gray’s cold exterior, his little brother is an absolute sweetheart

I can see him making ice sculptures for friends

He’s so much stronger than Gray but so humble about it too

For an 11-year-old he’s so mature (but trauma will do that to a person 😭)

Speaking of trauma though, Little Fullbuster was only a toddler when Deliora attacked

Despite his sweetness, he can be a sarcasm god

Constantly throws witty quips in the conversation

Little Fullbuster learnt magic from Gray rather than Ur

Gray wanted his brother to be able to protect himself and magic was the best way he knew how

Little Fullbuster is pretty stubborn

When he wants to go on a specific mission he usually ends up going

Like Galuna Island

Gray was adamant his brother would stay behind

Little Fullbuster ended up going anyways, following Gray secretly

Natsu welcomed him happily after knocking out Gray

Natsu knows when to put a foot down though when it comes to Gray’s younger brother

He made Little Fullbuster stay behind with the villagers when he and the others went to explore

Relationship headcanons – Gray

Little Fullbester’s sarcasm really shines when he’s with Gray

G: “I don’t care where I get hurt, as long as my in juries are visible” LF: “Clearly, cause you can’t prove your stories otherwise” or something witty like that (I personally am not good at sarcasm 😔)

Gray can be overprotective of Little Fullbuster

Won’t let him go on some missions with the rest of team Natsu because it’s too dangerous

Struggles to let him go on missions without him

Gray honestly doesn’t know what he’d do if he lost his younger brother, they’re all each other have left (aside from their found family in Fairy Tail)

Little Fullbuster sometimes feels smothered by Gray, they fight about it sometimes

Little Fullbuster full on believes he’s capable of taking care of himself, and he is, to an extent, he’s still just a child

Gray doesn’t know how to get that through his brother’s head

Their fights don’t usually involve yelling, more like a lot of passive-aggressive comments or choices/actions

For example, Little Fullbuster has a habit of holding Gray’s eye contact while asking Natsu to train with him and complimenting him because he knows it’ll irk Gray

Little Fullbuster always ends up feeling bad about his petty choices and Gray usually feels bad about how the conflict was handled

They always make up, sometimes without apologies (I feel like this is a really common sibling thing, my sister and I never apologized to each other after fights), but sometimes one or the other would cave and apologize

They are both really grateful to have each other as brothers (not that they would ever admit it out-loud) and where one brother is, the other usually isn’t far behind

Gray struggles with the fact that his younger brother is stronger than him

It’s not because he’s insecure or anything

It’s just because he’s scared he’ll lose his brother

He trusts his brother is capable

But he’s scared something underhanded could happen

Like if it comes to a fight, Little Fullbuster fights fairly, but his opponent might not have the same morals as fairy tail wizards

Relationship headcanons – Team Natsu

The whole team knows little Fullbuster is more than capable of taking care of himself

Doesn’t stop them from hovering or worrying all the time

Lucy mothers him the most

Totally sees him as the little brother she never had

Erza trains with him without holding back

Natsu gets along with him way better than Gray

Natsu is actually willing to ask little Fullbuster to train with him to improve both of their quirks

Happy likes to think he’s a wiser older brother to little Fullbuster

Invites him out fishing so he can share his “words of wisdom”

To which Lucy usually comments on with a roll of her eyes or a quip about any “words of wisdom” Happy told her in the past

Wendy and Little Fullbuster are close in age and get along really well

Carla and Gray aren't too happy about it, especially with Happy's constant, "he's in love"

Wendy and Little Fullbuster honestly ignore Happy and all their older guildmates who comment things like "won't they make the cutest couple?"

The two train together a lot since they get along so well

Relationship headcanons – Juvia

Juvia is in love with how sweet he is

In turn, little Fullbuster tries his hardest to get Juvia together with Gray

Already sees Juvia as an older sister of sorts

Usually goes to her when he’s upset about something Gray did

They bake together for Gray

Juvia teaches him how to make her Gray dolls and weather dolls

Little Fullbuster starts making Gray dolls and leaving them in the most ominous places to freak his brother out

It’s Little Fullbuster’s favorite thing

Little Fullbuster is always there for Juvia

He knows full well that his brother isn’t oblivious to her feelings

He feels bad about it and really tries to be there for her without getting involved

Because he also knows that Gray is interested in Juvia, he just doesn’t know to what extent

Juvia never asks him to do anything to help her pursue Gray

She doesn’t ask him if Gray’s ever told him anything about her, she respects boundaries

But she does complain about her failed attempts

Which just makes Little Fullbuster kick himself mentally because his brother is just so emotionally constipated it’s so aggravating

But he stays out of it, it’s not his job

Though he would love if Juvia were to officially become his older sister

Relationship headcanons – danger

Little Fullbuster really has no control over it

It’s just that everywhere he goes, something happens

Danger follows him like a bad cold

Little Fullbuster has grown accustomed to something going wrong on jobs that puts his life in danger

He’s used to powerful wizards finding him during combat

This doesn’t worry him, not usually

Little Fullbuster is more than happy, well not happy, he’s more than willing to risk his life for his guild, they practically raised him after all

Gray isn’t as willing

The amount of grey hairs that he’s grown due to constantly worrying lol

Nor is he pleased with his brother’s attitude on the matter

Actually, you know the scene in Harry Potter where Professor McGonagall is like,

“Why is it when something happens, it is always you three?” and Ron’s just like, “Believe me professor, I’ve been asking myself the same question for 6 years”

Yeah, but Makarov and Little Fullbuster

Given this unfortunate circumstance, Little Fullbuster has gotten really good at thinking on his feet

*possible spoilers* Like in the Tower of Heaven, when Simon was ‘aiming’ for Gray, rather than creating an ice copy of himself, Little Fullbuster was there in seconds, physically putting himself in between Simon and Gray and Juvia while simultaneously building ice copies of all three of them before Gray even thinks to do the same

Little Fullbuster is just so smart and quick, his incredibly skilled and it offers Gray some relief (not a lot tho because danger following your sibling everywhere is no walk in the park)

I get what you mean about being conflicted and not knowing whether you want to support her anymore or not, that's how I feel too 😔😭

part of me wants to watch the sodastream issue blow up so she'll be forced to address it, but another part of me wants her to address it before the issue blows up so it doesn't look like she's only releasing a statement to get people to shut up, you know?

It's weird because she's working with multiple celebs who have signed the artists for ceasefire letter (channing tatum, florence pugh, and currently filming Jurassic world mahershala ali, and she's worked with johnathan glazer multiple times, he's pro palestinian and got attacked by hollywood for saying that the genocide happening in palestine is bad) so if she does still support israel or is neutral then I'm really going to be judgemental about it

Also I don't think all the people who signed the artists for ceasefire letter were all sincere about it, but I do think it's a start.

Thank you for letting me continue to talk about this, it's really been bothering me, and the account I had originally asked on twitter kind of downplayed what she actually said during her interviews about sodastream, which is very annoying but 🤷🏾‍♀️🤷🏾‍♀️

I Have No Good Omens Blog But I Must Scream (About Good Omens)

MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD

i think the end of ep 6 was fully in character and a great dramatic turn and exciting cliffhanger... even though i can’t help but feel somebody watched OFMD and saw the fan reactions and went “ooh, let’s do that too, the suffering will be delightful”

honestly i think my reaction to that part was so positive because it immediately confirmed to me that there HAS to be a season 3! although i am so mad that i’ll have to wait another 2+ years for it and i honestly wish i hadn’t binged so quickly. maybe i should just watch it over again? i’ve watched season 1 three times already...

although i was fairly certain neil wouldn’t let us down, i was still a bit worried up until it happened that they would chicken out of showing a kiss, or that it would be a comedic “accidental” sort of moment. i’m glad it happened! and it was such a GOOD kiss! but oh man... the reason it happened... and the aftermath...

usually when i ship a “bad guy x good guy” type pairing, i get mad when people woobify the “bad guy” and try to make him less bad--especially when i catch myself doing it! but crowley actually IS “good” when it counts and i actually really love that about him. the whole thing with job’s children (and the goats!! 😭♥) was so wonderful!

well except that bit with ty tennant that made me weirdly uncomfortable!! stop flirting with your dad’s bestie lmfao esp when you still look like a baby

loved that they let david go full scottish, though the laudanum scene felt a bit... tonally weird to me

is it just me or were there a lot of doctor who references this season? some were obvious but others were more subtle to the point that i’m not sure they were intentional

i assumed that nina was supposed to be a “reincarnation” of her previous character but based on what neil has said so far, i guess they just really liked the actress and wanted to keep her on? i kept waiting for some shoe to drop regarding her identity, though! can’t help but feel they should’ve addressed it somehow, even if just briefly

overall i wouldn’t say this season was better than 1 because some of the writing and the pacing felt a little off to me, but it was SO MUCH FUN and i’m thrilled we’re getting a third season, whether it’s filmed or audio

so do we think jon hamm had a butt double or was that his real entire ass?

I’m back ;) I’m the anon who loved your x-men apocalypse animation especially. Really enjoyed your latest one as well! Gorgeous animation - loved the Jean Grey/Phoenix animation! The tiktok of Erik imagining/sitting down and taking to Peter is also a fave of mine - it did make me sad about the lack of Evan Peters - Michael Fassbender/ Magneto - Quicksilver scenes in the movies. Their dynamic could have been so great!

Yes, Dark Phoenix was a real mess. I do still absolutely adore the space scene though - it looks amazing and seeing the x-mens’ powers work together is just everything. Wish there was a lot more of that across basically all the film tbh. Loved seeing Quicksilver’s abilities in zero g! But despite how much I love that scene I can’t say that the movie is good. Honestly the frequent and unnecessarily large time skips generally bothers me - they robbed us of seeing the characters develop. I also can’t believe that Peter wouldn’t tell Erik for almost 10 years after the apocalypse incident.

I did try to brain storm a few ways of Erik finding out about Peter that could potentially be dramatically/visually interesting? One of my ideas was that for some reason, maybe due to Erik seeing red due to grief of losing Raven, Erik is wreaking absolute havoc and is trying to kill Jean. But the x-men have some sort of plan or just needs to freeze Erik so they can then stop Jean without killing her. And the scene would be Peter using his speed to try to get the helmet off Erik so that Charles could communicate with/or freeze Erik. And then because of Erik’s vast power he would be able to stop Peter in his tracks (similar to Jean in the film) and there would be a scene (similar to your animation) of him “grabbing” Peter in the air - throwing him up against the wall of the train(possibly?) to stop him, angry and pissed off and there would be this moment of Peter bracing himself genuinely worried he’s about to be killed - and Charles or someone else would panicked about what Erik might be about to do as he is blinded by anger - yell out the fact that Peter is his son. Perhaps for a second Erik would see Nina in place of Peter for a brief second as he recognises the familiar resemblance (as he is staring at another child of his in danger). And then of course he wouldn’t hurt him but instead freeze due to shock. What do you think? Too much? A scenario like this would kinda only work if the time skip is much shorter - maybe just a year. I quite like fics that address the fact that Peter is probably on some level afraid of Erik when he goes full Magneto. I like the scene when Peter claims to not fear him to his mother (which imho reveals that he in fact actually does). I think it adds an interesting layer to Peter’s feelings about telling him. I don’t think Erik would kill him - even if no one revealed their familial relationship - but that uncertainty in such a scene could kinda be dramatically interesting I think? I dunno, sorry if I’m rambling - I just quite like discussing alternative scenarios with other fans :) and wanted to hear your thoughts.

And aww thank you! I loved working on the Oleander animatic! The Phoenix was especially fun to animate, and of course the hug made all the hard work worth it haha. And awww yes! I love that edit too, it uses an audio from Gotham Knights where Batman is talking about Nightwing and how proud he is of him. As soon as I heard it I knew it would fit really well with a good timeline Dadneto, and I was definitely inspired by my fic The Hardest Part Is Leaving You which I had finished not long before making that edit!

Oh yeah, the effects in Dark Phoenix are actually pretty solid (at least most of the effects surrounding Jean and the Phoenix at least). Would have loved to see more of the X-Men as an actual team as well, but alas, the writers have robbed us of that yet again 😭 Guess that's what we're here for lol.

And OOOH Anon I love that idea! Definitely not too much, I think that's a great mix of angsty and intense but also heartfelt! And yes, a shorter timeskip between Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix is always appreciated haha. That's such a fair point about Peter being afraid of Erik when he's in 'Magneto' mode too. Usually I write them post reveal so I mostly play around with the concept of what their relationship is like after many years of bonding and trust has been built, which means Peter is rarely if ever scared for himself, but more likely scared of what Erik could do to others in the case Peter ever got hurt. Younger Peter would definitely struggle with that though I bet!

Live thoughts (and childhood experiences yaay) :3 I’m writing as I go !!! This is very long btw

I’m so happy they get to explore a movie setting, I love movie settings I’m giggling and kicking my feet over here (I used to be interested in becoming a movie director when I was younger :,D it makes me happy to see my fav unit so passionate abt smth like this too)

Having to retake a whole scene bcz of a bug is so funny, I think I would lose my mind if an extra did that but I’ve never worked with extras so I wouldn’t know :p (but I can assume that it’d be a bit of a pain)

Also my experiences in directing movies was all done as a child, I would get my friends and cousins excited to act in a movie and we’d film every scene right after the other with a script we make up as we go. So them talking about doing scenes out of order makes me rly wish I got to partake in a scripted film. Ofc I am eternally grateful for all the people who actually went along with what I was envisioning. Even if it was rly frustrating at times, we were all children and I knew this.

WAAHHHH THEYRE SO LUCKY BEING ABLE TO LEARN ON A LEGIT MOVIE SET 🥀🥀🥀fictional characters ur so lucky…

They mentioned The Best Film Wrap too oh wow that even story made me so so happy for Nene, (spoilers for that ahead) I was a little salty that the seniors won… as they always do… even if they don’t deserve it… (ig those guys deserved it but I’m mad at schools around the world prioritizing seniors always sigh) but hey at least someone saw their hard work and effort. I’m very biased coz I was only aware of what nene’s class did but she should’ve won 1st place just saying 😪😪 at least 3rd :(, I’m head canoning that the mystery judge told the other judges who their pick was and then the judges didn’t even include them in their own judgements…

Hajime leaving the way a cat does so it doesn’t leave you with grief of its death wow wow. I haven’t talked abt the movie being filmed itself coz there wasn’t much to say, but this seems like a nice movie.

Woah the voice acting in this alone is so raw and quiet, I’m having trouble figuring out the potential framing of a scene like this esp in a loud environment like an airport. I feel like there would be a lot of distractions they can add to enhance a scene like this but that’s just my thoughts on an x + y = 7 equation if that makes sense. This was so random if I were to actually direct a scene like this I wouldn’t be surprised if everything I said was irrelevant to a final product. Still tho I can’t rly imagine what they’re going for off of only the voice acting and explanation.

Omg being able to portray something wrong on purpose is so difficult, even thru voice acting I legit said “WOAAHHH” out loud n 3 seconds later it’s mentioned everyone felt smth was off LMAO so I’m glad to see I wasn’t just being super nitpicky and it was intentional. This happens to me A LOTT any movie or story that has a plot twist character always has that character so oddly played and it makes me feel like the writers, actors or directors don’t care abt those characters. Then a reveal happens and I realize it’s on purpose. The only problem I have with noticing that is the fact that it unimmerses me from the universe they try to build and it makes me criticize these people in my head throughout the duration of the medium. I think that’s not smth they should be striving for, this is a very difficult thing to pull off n I’m just a freak for directing so I notice it a lot more. Maybe a casual viewer wouldn’t lose immersion for smth like that. Idk u guys tell me if u experience anything like this as well.

If they’re able to still have adequate foreshadowing that doesn’t make me question the director’s intentions over a character’s, I think they did a good job. Otherwise I’m just sat there flaming a director I don’t know for an hour+ lmao. It makes me feel a little better for the character but again it’s just smth was still wrong, whether it was me or them idk..

AHEM anyways back to the story, this director makes everyone so nervous I think he needs to relax a little for everyone’s sake. Ya he produces good results but u can get the same answer with multiple equations.

Before I read the rest of this, I wanna see if I can figure out what the problem will be. The part where he mentions “I bet that’s not even your real name” was said with too much disbelief rather than with the anger it deserves. It still feels like a string of lines that can and should be said quietly, but they should also be said quietly with the right emotions. He ramped it up right before they cut but I feel like the part he ramped up to should have been the energy he used to ramp up to something more. That’s my prediction, I’ll tell u how close I am when I get there :3

Inchresting, changing a scene to suit an actor more, now that’s something I’m used to, I didn’t think it’d be the answer tho. Since we were all children and we had no script, I had adapt and compromise EVERY SINGLE SCENE to make sure it was still fun for everyone in the end. Except for my first attempt with my youngest cousin, I think her siblings got rly mad at her when she was messing things up. It was literally the final stretch of the movie tho so I think we were just desperate to get it done. WAIT NO I REMEMBER WHY SHE GOT MAD. It was the first part of a “horror” movie coz they eventually had to leave, and she got mad that she was killed off 😭😭. Wow the memories of that movie, I actually learned so much from it and still hold onto principles that made themselves known to me when I first filmed that. It was utter garbage looking back at it now but it’s still near and dear to my heart. After that I forced more of my cousins and friends to film “movies” with me, I didn’t act in most of them but I hope I made it as fun for them as they did for me. I remember also editing one of them.

1. Joe Keery was in town filming something and was staying near my work !

2. When picking up a package u need to provide proof! ex: ID that matches the name and address on the package or a utility bill or something

3. I did not realize it was him until he left lol

So basically some guy clearly trying to look incognito comes in to pick up a package. kinda sus already. I ask for ID and he refuses to give it to me and I try to explain that I can only release it if your ID matches what’s on the package (like for obvious reasons??? big safety & privacy concern if we just took people’s word for it lmfao)

And then he tries to reason w me saying that it’s under a fake name and I’m staying at an air bnb so my ID won’t match.

Meanwhile im like ⁉️ THIS SOUNDS SKETCHYY AS HELLLLLL and refuse to give it to him.

He then proceeds to say it’s under a fake name because he’s sooo famous and that if he uses his real name it gets messy and at this point I still don’t recognize him and I’m like ok… this guy is just making shit up! anything to get this package

I refuse again and he gets real mad, cusses at me and storms out of the store 😭😭 (it’s on cctv and it’s so fucking funny like I wish I could show u guys)

My boss overheard everything and decided to send his package back LOL so when joe comes in the next day to try again he’s extra pissed off its not even at our store anymore 🥴

Chapter Five: Soulmark Freakout & Government Affairs

hi! if you didn't already know, my name is sunny ♡ just wanted to let you guys know that ive had such a hard time writting this specific chapter because it focuses more on politics, and I, am in fact, not educated on politics,, at least not make believe alien robot / human affair politics,,,

im literally going to college for art i am so outta my comfort zone here,, so if this chapter seems a little choppy and not as put together as previous chapters, that is why, and im sorry 😭

it has been edited some to try and make more sense, so hopefully its not too bad!

Optimus Prime was having an internal crisis when his degsenation was called, followed by the young translator that looked as if he was dehydrated by the sheer amount of sweating his body was doing. "Igetis ton Autobots, Optimus Prime, pou ekprosopei ta Autobots."

He stood slowly as the peering eyes of Earth's sentient, primary species watched him curiously and skeptically. His chest plates continued to softly ache and almost seemed to be trying to push him in the direction of YN- YN.

That was her name, he mused silently to himself. When they announced her presence the Prime had a difficult time to not gawk at her. He kept his feet planted this time, not willing to have the Mother Stars throw him to the ground once again and embarress Agent Fowler more than he already has.

As much as the space dietys adore the romance that their gift to the universe brought to life, they were going to wait until after the meeting. He refused to let his optics wander in her direction until he sat back down.

Several other names were called and Optimus payed upmost attenetion to each human in the room, nonetheless, the Prime still would catch glances of the Greek woman across the room who sported what he beleived to be expensive and elegent, white fabrics- suits, as the kids had informed him once- each time with her gaze either at the person of the name who was called, or at the desk in front of her sorting through various notebooks and files. She was fiddling anxiously, that much he could tell. Perhaps it was because of his meer presence. Humans did have a negative perspective of exterestrail species, via syfi films.

Miko had made the team watch the film "Alien" from 1979 a few months back, as well as the "Predator" film made in 1987. That, among dozens of other alien-based horror franchises.

Ratchet and Arcee were not amused. Bulkhead and Bumblebee, however, were horrified.

Not to mention "Terminator."

Wow, Optimus mused to himself, wow, maybe this meeting is not going to work out.

Genral Bryce stood after roll call had offically been wrapped up, he smoothed out the front of his suit, medals gleaming under the florescent lights above. They made a soft clinking noise as they hit each other with every step he took. He cleared his throat, "Good afternoon gentalmen," he said, peering around the room as he made his way down the isle and to the front of the room.

"As you now know, we have called you all here today to address an exterestrail threat, as well as allies. And before we dive deep into the issue at hand, I wish to introduce you all to a program put together by the United States Department of Defense; the Autobot Protection Program."

"Thirty years ago, a space craft crash landed into the side of a mountain in Colorado, where a civilian made first contact with Optimus Prime. They were wounded and critically low on supplies. After the USDOD made their appearance, we of cource, had our doubts about the trustworthiness of these machines."

Bryce paced back and forth across the front of the room, making hand gestures that Prime didnt quite understand that point of. The translator kept up pace with the Genral's quick mouth.

Optimus then noticed, that Greece's repreentives were seated all on the left side of the room, as they all kept their eyes on the translator rather than General Bryce himself.

YN was on the left.

"There were only six of them at the time. All soldiers. All armed with advanced weaponry and tech. We had every reason to be cautious of these alien mechs. But even after alliences were made, the Autobots gave us no reason to doubt their honor, their honesty, nor kindness, and they most certainly did not give us any reasons to be afraid."

Bryce took in one deep breath. "So, I hope that you all will keep that in mind when making your final decisions on the outcome of this meeting."

Fowler quickly took the floor as Bryce sat himself down. "The Autobot Protection Program was set in place three months after their crash landing in Colorado. They came here for fuel. Similar to how we, as humans, eat foods to survive, Cybertronians need a specific kind of crystal to survive. A crystal that our planet just so happens to be rich with. They call it Energon. And while Energon is good for Cybertronians, it is very toxic and harmful to us."

"According to the Autobots, the Civil War of their planet made Energon rare to come by. They had no choice but to come here to mine and harvest it for their own survival. The Autobot Protection Program was made to let them do just that without being exposed to the public eye. This kept up for thirteen years.

However, when the Decepticons reached Earth's atmosphere, things got a much more complicated."

Fowler looked to Prime before sweeping his gaze back over to YN, who had a notebook and folder open that she had activly been reading through during the speech. She gave Fowler an encouraging grin and thumbs up. The Greek translator continued to keep up efficiently, only pausing for a moment to breath.

"The Decepticons, led by Megatron, had and have very little regard for human life. They see us as inferior. They do not care for keeping themselves unseen by human eyes, which had been leaving the USDOD very busy cleaning up their messes. The Decepticons are not few in numbers. They came here with a war ship and an army."

"These sentient exterestrails are much bigger than us, they have advanced weaponry, and their intelligence outways ours over seven hundred precent. The Decepticons will eventually become desperate to execute the last of the Autobot's Resistance, and will most likely endanger civilians in order to achieve that goal. They have already started targeting children. But the Autobots are here to protect us. Optimus Prime made a vow to do so. They did not intend for Earth to get involved in their civil war and are here to put a stop to any schemes Megatron has to harm Earth and it's inhabitants in any way. And I must say, he has proven himself time and time again to be capable of doing so. He has saved my life more times that I can count." Folwer took a breathe, watching.

Whispering unease and silent panic warmed the room with the fact that these aliens were targeting children. The same children who are the lifeline of their futures and their planet's future. Innocent children. How many? Why?

"If you'd all take a look at the files that have been left infront of you, you can skim through mission logs, team roles, and the children that are involved's personal files. We assure you, that these kids are safe. The Autobots take them to and from school, extracurricular activities, jobs, and they spend most of their free time at the Autobot secret base. While yes, they are in danger of encountering Decepticons, they are fully protected with individual guardians- soldiers who are more than capable of taking down a few Cons and getting their charges to saftey."

YN had flashed him a horried expression at the mention of kids being involved in a fucking alien war. That had not been mentioned in any files he gave her before hand or mentioned during they're catch-up outings. Her glare calmed throughtout the explanation, but Folwer still flinched under her hard stare.

William forgot to mention it, obviously, too busy trying to both prepare a room of people to meet a giant metal alien, along with making up from lost time with his old University buddy, because, ya know, he faked his death.

He's ganna have to add another thing to his interal list of reasons he's pissed off YN. Yikes.

"The Autobots have been our only line of defense for the last thirty years. But we can no longer operate in secret. Which is why the United States Department of Defense and Optimus Prime have asked you here, in hopes of signing a treaty that will allow Autobots to operate in your country and retrieve one of their ancient alien relics, to which we have evidence of being in your lands."

The room regarded this information cautiously.

Optimus caught the anxious glace he sent to YN across the room, who, under further investigation, seemed to be murdering him with her optics.

The room was hushed with whispers and judging expressions. Perhaps mentioning the kids wasnt the best idea, but they were already on the mission files in front of everyone, so there was no point in ignoring the subject. Fowler waited patiently in front of the room while the crowd spoke in a language he didnt fully understand.

After forty long minutes of various questions being tossed around the room with both frightfull and genuinely curious tones, a break finally put a pause on all current activities and allowed everyone to stretch their limbs and roam around.

I had marched straight to the nearest restroom before William could catch up and give me a worse headache then the one already making my forehead throb.

I really needed a brain break from politics and aliens, trying to force myself to think of other things while I rubbed at my palms.

Virginia is nice, I suppose. The beach is not nearly as clean nor clear as the one outside of my house. The humity makes my hair frizzy and makes me sweat in temperatures I should be used too. There are many historical sights, some I plan on seeing before my departure back to Greece. One of the first thirteen colonies and all that jazz.

On the ride from the hotel to the Pentagon I saw a mother and daughter walking out of a bridal shop holding into a protected wedding gown with the goofiest and most joyful smiles I had seen all week. She had found her soulmate and witnessing such a sweet moment brought a smile to my face as we road past.

I was hungry, too, daydreaming of soups and sour breads. Perhaps I'll look around near my hotel for a restaurant and grab something to eat before my plane ride home tomorrow. But I did see some goodies on a table right outside the room were having the meeting in. I could snatch a few of those before this little break was over.

I missed my own bed, five star hotel or not, I preferred my own mattress and my own blankets. I specifically missed the calming sound of ocean waves crashing onto the shore right outside my window. I also missed my cat, and all her mischievous glory. I hope shes not scratching the doorframes again. I'll have to call Mom later to see how everything is going over there. I should bring her something back from America, as a thank you for watching my house and evil cat and all that fun stuff.

Turning off the tap, I flick my hands to get the access water off before grabbing a paper towel and drying off.

Fowler had finished explaining everything. The aliens, their cause, their war, their alliance with the United States, the child endangerment, he explained "Groundbridge"s, of which I'm still not positive is actually a thing, and he explained why they believe that the object they're looking for is under Ancient Greece.

Now it was my turn. Well, not now. But when this pause was over, I was to take the stage and convince my country to allow exterestrails to dig through our history to find. And then I have to explain the object, of which I was given limited intel on. Fun times. Coolio. No stress. Of course, I have my own qualifications that I can use to sway the majority. But this is still a room of men. Old, white, cranky men, who think women belong in the kitchen and a buncha other mysonistic bullshit.

The tile floors are squeaky clean and the white noise of the restroom is sort of calming However, that calm did not last long.

Tossing the crumpled up paper in the bin, I go to pull my sleeves back down before the expensive fabric starts to wrinkle. This suit was a rental and I didnt feel like messing it up and having to pay extra.

"Holy hell," I squeaked.

Damn!

Shit!

Fuck!

I hadn't been paying my wrist any attention for the past couple days, rightfully so. Too stressed to pay anything else any attention. I mean god damn! I'm in a meeting with a fucking alien car. I'm a little preoccupied.

My timer is gone.

Looking up from my wrist, I catch my own panicked face in the mirror. Eyes wide and jaw slacked. Now? Of all the times for this to happen, it had to be right now?!

Trying to recall the last time I remembered seeing it clearly on my wrist, biting my lip and pulling down my sleeves.

It was on my wrist when I was putting on my suit this morning. I believe it was there when I grabbed breakfast in the hotel lobby. But that was the last time I remember have a countdown on my person. At least, one hundred precent sure.

So, from leaving the hotel at eleven in the morning, to now, sometime around four in the afternoon, I have either walked passed or have had contact with my soulmate. And I didnt even notice.

Fuck.

I love that your Hermione is so broody. Her eyes are so distinct from the rest. If you don't mind me asking, what got you to characterize her like that?

Just like what influenced how I drew Fleur's hair (movie fleur's hair), it started with emma watson's 'Hermione glare' from the film adaptations.

I looked up a lot of screen shots of Hermione, and I kind of wanted to emphasize that side of her where she's just always thinking, always trying to get two steps ahead of everyone, kind of unknowingly arrogant about it--and in most fics I've read, she addresses those shortcomings (usually with the significant other she's getting paired with) and it's actually sort of charming how she's so serious about it most of the time. So I wanted to focus on that. And that she's always kind of injured somehow because it's just... very Hermione of her.

And then of course it was heavily influenced by the fanfictions that I've read (that sounds so typical LMAO) and everybody else's headcannons of Hermione that was left in my inbox, and it just sort of happened from there. The brooding part, post-war especially, happened because I kinda pictured someone who is as "morally righteous" as Hermione or someone who wears their heart on their sleeve, gets a bit burned after experiencing something as traumatic (as what she's gone through). So she broods a lot. She's always trying to get ahead. Making sure it doesn't happen again, or that she's prepared in case it does happen. Either that, or she runs away and tries to breathe, tries to feel like herself again (there are a bunch of fics that addresses a similar plot like this). I imagine going back to "normal life" after being on the run for so long takes its toll. At least that's just what I think, of course!

But what mostly helped me characterize her like that are the fanfictions I've read! So really, I owe it all to these very, very talented writers.

Here's your 🛑spoiler warning!🛑 and as always, feel free to skip ahead! These are scenes from fanfictions from different pairings that helped me to characterize Hermione that way. I just found these so memorable.

🔵 Crazy Little Things by dreiser in Chapter 16. Lunamione. The first hp fic I've ever read is Lunamione! Crazy Little Things heavily influenced how I sort of saw Hermione in my mind, and I adored her here. It made me think, 'oh, so hermione's kind of oblivious about it, that's cute!'

Searching her memories of the creature and frowning at the obscure nature of the hint and its strange phrasing, Hermione questioned, "You're positive that clue refers to the creature that Flavius Belby discovered in Papua New Guinea in 1782?"

"Oh yes," Luna nodded emphatically, beaming happily. "Erwin likes to write little riddles, he finds it entertaining."

Releasing a thoughtful but somewhat skeptical murmur at this, Hermione commented, "Hagrid spoke of Lethifolds once. He was friends with one of their keepers at the Center for Magizoology in London and was considering taking our class on a trip to see them. This was before that awful business with Buckbeak. Afterwards we were rather stuck on Flobberworms for the rest of the term."

"I know, I read your report," said Luna teasingly, causing Hermione to scowl in false irritation. An expression that instantly disappeared when Luna gently tugged her down for a kiss. When they parted she wore a longing expression as she cupped the brunette's cheek, her thumb moving in small caressing circles. "Even then you were so serious. I found it immensely charming though I wonder if you ever realized."

Her cheeks hot, Hermione lowered her eyes, avoiding Luna's gaze as she murmured with a hint of embarrassment, "I hadn't the slightest idea." Drawing her gaze back to Luna, struck with the need to look the younger girl in the eyes as she said this, Hermione continued, "I wish I had been closer to you then. I wasn't terribly patient in those days. Not with you, not with anything, in fact."

🔵 Saving Souls & Healing Hearts by BatwingLawyer, in Chapter 26: Run, Ladies and Gentlemen. Fleurmione. This was definitely one of the first fleurmione and hp fics I've read, and it was one of the major stories that influenced that characterization of Hermione. The entire story. But this chapter struck me the most. Hermione's scared, Hermione's angry, she's confused, she's trying to sift through what happened. But her priority is protecting Fleur. It's written in third person perspective through Hermione, and it's been hinted that she's a little clueless about how charming Fleur finds that protectiveness/seriousness.

“No!” Hermione’s shout startled them all and Oz reflexively gripped her tighter. Fleur stepped closer, unafraid, and stroked her cheek and neck again. Hermione dipped her head forward until it rested on Fleur’s shoulder. “How do you expect me to be calm?” It was practically moaned. “Someone is making threats.” She stood up straight again and Minerva and Fleur both noticed the fire in her eyes. “Someone is making threats against Fleur and I can’t- I won’t just…I can’t…”

“Okay, mon coeur.” Fleur was whispering softly. “Just ‘elp us understand. You saw my form in the pensieve at the scene where the latest incident was? And your first thought was that someone was making threats against me?”

“My only thought.” Hermione whispered. Why is she smiling? I get why there are tears in her eyes, this is scary and she’s in danger, but why is she smiling at me? “Fleur?”

The French witch seemed incapable of speech for a moment and lowered her head to press her lips against Hermione’s cheek.

“While I might have stayed slightly more rational,” Minerva’s voice held a hint of a smile at the two witches in her office, “I have to agree with Hermione’s assessment. I wouldn’t have believed you to be the guilty party for even a moment either, Ms. Delacour.”

“What?” Hermione gasped. Fleur? Guilty? The idea was unfathomable; ludicrous. So ludicrous that the aurors just might believe it. “I stopped the aurors following me because I needed to know that Fleur was safe before dealing with them. But now they’ll be coming for her.” Hermione hands instinctively pulled the Frenchwoman closer.

“I agree. They’ll want to interrogate her.” Minerva nodded.

The noise that escaped Hermione’s throat sounded more animal like than human. “They can try.”

“No.” Fleur stopped her with a gentle hand. “Try to remain calm, ma chérie. I 'ave nothing to ‘ide from the aurors, I’ve done nothing wrong. Maybe I can ‘elp them figure some things out.”

Hermione’s hands trembled where they rest against Fleur’s waist. “The aurors highest priority will be catching the culprit by any means necessary, not about protecting you. So we’ll have to do it ourselves.”

“Actually, I disagree.” Minerva’s voice was calm.

“What?” Hermione nearly exploded again. “Headmistress, with Fleur in danger I don’t care about anything else other th-”

“That’s what I disagree about.” Minerva arched an eyebrow at Hermione’s belligerent tone. “I don’t think she’s in any danger.”

🔵 Extinction by rubikanon in Chapter 23: Build Up Your Defenses 2 of 2. Cissamione. This is such a tender moment between them. Narcissa tries to placate Hermione's worries, and to get her to stop scowling, by teasing her in the middle of a party. Lazily smiling at each other, Narcissa actually gets Hermione to relax for once. Because that's the whole point of the party, people from both sides of the war, mingling, hosted by Narcissa herself. I better stop before I gush over Extinction again.

Draco flirted with my mum again tonight, asking her to dance and waltzing around the outdoor ballroom. I had an inkling of how he must feel now, which was surely his intention. It was hard not to glare every time our eyes met.

"Relax, dear," Narcissa said, sidling up next to me. "He has no ill intentions toward her. Besides, I believe he has his eye on someone else. Luna is looking quite lovely tonight." She cupped my cheek and rubbed her thumb over the corner of my mouth until I stopped scowling. "Didn't your mother ever tell you your face can get stuck that way?"

"That's just an old wives' tale," I retorted. "I'll scowl if I want to." But I was smiling by then, and I kissed the pad of her thumb.

"Old wives are sometimes right, you know," she said, pulling me into the crowd of dancers. "Your face may not get stuck, but a mean attitude becomes a habit. You see?"

"I think you just made up that deeper meaning," I accused. We started waltzing with some difficulty. Neither of us had much practice leading.

"Guilty as charged," she said with a laugh, and we circled around the room until we couldn't concentrate on the steps any longer.

🔵 Blood Magic by Cumbersome in Chapter 1. Bellamione. Of course the only tense moment here would be something between Bella and Hermione. That's just how they are. It's just Bella being Bella. And Hermione matching that with defiance. Bit of background, Hermione's an auror here, she's a part of the team who inspects Black Manor, and the Blacks meet with them, in their own home, with equal hostility. There's a lot of quiet glaring involved from both parties. From Hermione, especially. But before the team of aurors leave the manor, Bellatrix confronts Hermione. Bella points out the scar she has left Hermione, the one from their honest to goodness fist fight. Hermione could have healed it, but for some reason, she doesn't. She just leaves it there. A reminder.

With that he spins on his heel, the Aurors moving to follow. Hermione lingers, eyeing the Blacks with open curiosity. They return her gaze but it is Bellatrix who rises, moving quickly into her space. She grins, raising a finger to tap against a pale scar on her (Hermione's) upper lip.

“I remember this,” Bellatrix says. “I quite enjoy seeing it. It gives me this warm, tingly feeling all over. The idea that I marked that pretty little smug face of yours.”

Hermione meets her eyes and says nothing.

Eyes narrowing, Bellatrix steps closer, her breath warm on Hermione’s face. There are storms in her eyes, flashes of something very much like grief.

“You’re on the wrong side,” she says. “You’ll see that soon.”

“And who’s side are you on?” Hermione asks.

“My own, of course.” Bellatrix smiles. She pauses, her eyes scanning Hermione’s face. “We’re very alike you know. You and I, I feel this thing between us. Like a beast.” She blinks, considers. “Makes me want a good sandwich, honestly.”

In spite of herself, Hermione snorts. She steps away, puts space between herself and Bellatrix. The other Blacks watch with intent expressions.

🔵 Blood Magic by Cumbersome in Chapter 2. Cissamione. Scruffy Hermione! Because she's, as usual, doing some very Hermione things (I just think this is very cute for some reason). Narcissa approaches Auror Hermione, and finds the situation she sees Hermione in a little bit endearing.

Hearing Lovegood’s warning, Mundus had immediately thrown his watch to Hermione. She caught it without thinking, and suddenly the creature was on her, biting, tearing, howling in fury.

“Hold still!” Mundus called, pointing his wand.

“Bloody hell!” Hermione shouted, scruffing the ghoul, desperately keeping her fingers away from its snapping teeth.

“Don’t be a drama queen,” Mundus said, closing an eye as he aimed. “It’s only a little thing.”

She fell back, landing painfully as the thing scrambled up her robes, lunged at her face.

“Granger?”

She turns at the sound of her name, frowning deeply, her expression stormy.

The smiling young man falters under her stare, his cheeks flushing a deep pink.

“Uhm,” Smith says, swallowing. “Visitor for you?”

Only then does she notice the young woman at his side. She blinks, scanning the smooth, blank face, the immaculate clothes. Is that laughter she sees in those bright eyes?

“Narcissa,” she says. She clears her throat, self consciously straightening her tie. “What are you doing here?”

Something very like a smirk touches the woman’s lips. She allows her gaze to travel over Hermione’s ragged appearance, a single eyebrow raised.

“Really, Miss Granger,” she drawls. “I do remember you being much neater.”

She hates the way her face flushes under the woman’s gaze, despises that she would even for a moment care what she thinks of her.

“Yes, well.” She coughs.

Glancing between the two women, Smith smiles, discomfited. “I’ll be off, then.”

Hermione glowers. “Please.”

“I wish to speak with you,” Narcissa says, watching the flushing young man scurry away.

Hermione gestures, but Narcissa shakes her head.

“Not here.”

Okay okay so I don't want to make this post any longer than it needs to be, but basically there were a lot of stories that helped me characterize Hermione that way, and it's super interesting that it's a recurring "trope" or characterization for her, one that appears in different ships, written by different people.
