The Wheelclair Argument (1x05)

watching the show the first couple times around i thought that mike got upset out of defense for el. but when rewatching this time, i realized mike got upset because lucas was losing hope on finding will. thats what made mike angry. the fact that they werent actually closer to finding will.

at first when lucas says el's been playing them, mike deny's it because he thinks that el's been helping them find will. el's importance to mike in the first season is to find will; to reconnect mike with his best friend. mike has no issue leaving el when he thinks that will died, and he had no issue using her again to find will when he thinks will's still alive (and I don't recall any scene of him apologizing to el for how he treated her during the quarry scene.)

secondly, we don't see mike defending el out of personal interest throughout this scene. in fact, when lucas says how el used the party, or when he claims that mike is blind because el isn't grossed out by him, mike doesn't look particularly angry or mad. even when lucas shouts in his face to “wake the hell up.”

but you know when we do see mike get ticked off? when lucas says that el is letting will die in the UD. that moment is what made mike get majorly pissed off, even more than he was beforehand. hell, there's even a whole beat after lucas yells in mike's face. mike doesn't get defensive over el, he get's defensive over will, and the fact that they do have hope in finding him.

when we look at when mike decides to speak up, it's not really to defend el's position. the closest we get is when he says "screw you." but there are many other moments where lucas spews things about el that mike says nothing about. but the moment lucas suggests that will could be dying, mike yells at him. he can't bear the possibility that he'd have to grieve will's death again. even when we examine camera angles, it shows mike's reaction to lucas saying that mike is blinded by el not being grossed out by him, and the reaction to him saying that will could be dying.

and at the end of the scene, when mike yells at el. “what is wrong with you!?” if mike was defending el while arguing with lucas, then wouldn't he show at least a bit of concern for her and how she feels? which also leads me to believe that when he was looking for el after lucas stormed off, it was because he still had hope for finding will, and as far as they knew: el was their only hope.

MATILDA PRIME!!!!!!!!!

hi i definitely didn't forget to finish these so i could post them in a timely manner 😌

a bit about each of them under the cut :]

the thing they have in common is that instead of chaos energy causing the transformation from ant to mobian, it was the prism shards (which is why the eye colours are different)

maddie (new yoke)

she represents matilda's fighting side

a feisty member of the resistance who delights maybe a little too much in fighting

her closest friends are rebel and, shockingly, knux

they took her in after she escaped from the council post transformation

she's really intense, with less self control than matilda, she's always got a wild grin on her face in battle, and its a bit scary sometimes

her and knux started making bets on who can smash the most bots in a given fight

tilda

tilda is matilda's connection to nature and her origin as a little ant

she's just a little guy who lives in the woods with her ant friends

she transformed during thorn's rampage and got a bit of a beating before she really knew what was happening

she doesn't speak (she didn't learn how) and instead makes little noises she picked up from different critters

the little bugs and animals are her friends!!!!

sonic named her (he's not very creative)

there's a loneliness about her

tempest

tempest is matilda's revenge played completely seriously. she's on a mission and is not at all interested in fun

oh tempest.....by far the most different from matilda

a member of dread's old crew, she fought against the idea of him taking the shard, due to feeling connected to it

it didn't go well and left her with some scars

which sets her on a quest for revenge

tempest is matilda without much of matilda at all. she's focused, intense, and angry

I'll go into more detail eventually...but she ends up leaving her shatterspace with sonic, reluctantly working with him to ensure the safety of the shards

she interacts with shadow the most. it goes. very well

posting this little thing because the wonderful @novasillies tagged me (guys guys go read her fic please please please please please it’s SO GOOD) as well as the lovely @gege-wondering-around (I am so so sorry i’m always so late for these things life has been so busy). here’s something else from my time travel au (also called the rewrite the lines au)

By the time he reaches the Nemeton, dawn is breaking on the horizon. Soon, the world will wake up, and Stiles plans to be long gone by then, least the Hales hear him.

The Nemeton’s energy is strong today, overpowering the Nogitsune’s rage and cruel persuasion. It hums inside Stiles’s whole being, and Stiles lets it wash over him before sending it back, like a feedback loop. It’s a learned behavior, allowing its energy to flow through him. Before, he’d been way too scared of it, of what it could do, of what it had already done. Now, Stiles knows he’s way more powerful than anything else that’s ever touched this tree. There’s no need to be afraid of what has made him what he is today, for no matter how monstrous, Stiles will always be worse.

Without hesitating, he presses his palm flat against the top of the tree stump. He doesn’t push any of his magic in it, simply letting it flow freely. It’s intense, though not hurtful. It recognizes Stiles as its friend, not its foe, no matter what Stiles may feel towards it.

As he lets the Nemeton’s magic flood his senses, Stiles idly wonders when it became such a normal thing for him to refer to a tree as a sentient being. It’s not as if the Nemeton talks to him, it simply… conveys its energy. And the call is more of a pull than an outright calling, if he’s getting specific about it. Yet Stiles knows without a doubt that it is sentient, even if it doesn’t have things such as feelings or emotions.

He keeps his hand on the tree stump for as long as he can, holding steady through the endless stream of information being imputed straight into his head by his semi-symbiotic relationship with the Nemeton even though his head starts to pound and his breathe starts coming out in heavy, loud puffs of air. In fact, Stiles only pulls away when the cold, nauseatingly familiar feel of dark energy, of chaos and pain and strife starts creeping in. Even though Stiles knows it can’t be true, that it must be his mind playing tricks on him again, he can’t help but startle when he hears voices in the wind, a whispered let me in that has his heart beating erratically and his eyes jumping from shadow to shadow. In the lazy light of the still rising sun, he can almost swear he sees a firefly.

Stiles leaves without looking back. Maybe if he ignores this problem, it will finally fucking go away.

If not… well. That’s a problem for future Stiles to take care of.
