Daisuke's Notes on Robo-Ky's Concept:

A robot made by incorporating Ky's movements.

When we were developing the consumer version, we decided to add a bonus character. But we didn't have enough time to create any new characters. There was talk of making extra characters (characters with slightly different specs), which was what other companies were doing, but we felt that wouldn't be enough. We decided to thoroughly tinker with what we could, so we broke up Ky, added weird sound effects and gimmicks, and called him Robo-Ky. We joked that not only were the specs different, but the character itself was different too. However, he became quite popular and was promoted to a proper character on the roster later on. At first, his face was the same as Ky's. I decided to change it, making it more with a "robot" in mind. Or perhaps something like one of Leiji Matsumoto's robots, with a radar on his head. When you say "robot", there are all sorts of things that fall under this category like mobile suits, but when I say "robot", I mean it like this.

just finished the creeping shadow

and wow. i loved that book so much.

(i have several lines from the book that i'll post about and talk about later lmao)

i knew lucy would end up joining l&co again, but when i tell you i nearly screamed when i read the line!!! so good.

once again, the locklyle crumbs omg <3<3<3

ugh i loved reading them. especially when they had that deep conversation in the iron chain circle and lucy rejoined l&co!!! and them holding hands ??? and blushing at each other ??? and their shared smiles ??? oh my god.

also i really liked how holly and lucy got on better terms by the end of the book, though holly kind of pissed me off at the beginning, i kind of liked her towards the end.

and george!!! omg. i loved how he and lucy interacted for most of the book — especially when they had that argument at the end of the first case together (at the beginning of the book); because they honestly both needed to have that argument. like it was needed.

kipps was also absolutely hilarious in this book, i've grown to like him a lot lmao

overall i really loved this book!! i've been trying to take it slow so i can savour the books, and i'm on the last one now 😭😭

anyway yeah i really loved tcs, it was so good.

might sound weird to say as a person with a couple ocs who have Big Horrible Event(s) in their backstories or as a person who has like 3 ocs total bc he sucks at writing and as a person who hopes their ocs arent too Boring with [the thing im about to mention] but the thing about writing [characters] and [people] is that like.

any little thing a person experiences can take up their whole existence... its actually something "fun" to experience as i meet new ppl and do more things. My friend had something happen that she'll be talking about forever. I had several things happen last year that ill never stop talking about, some of which other ppl think werent that bad actually. In the same way I'll forever remember about the way my sister accidentally insulted me almost 10 years ago, it's really interesting and Fun to find and assign smaller things like that to characters...its really Real. some people's dealbreakers are other people's solvable problems etc etc

#(as well as the opposite: Big Event that maybe shocks everyone around em but they genuinely werent shaken by)#though this one is more common and leads to those ''ohh i didnt know that was normal oops'' moments #talkys #inspired by recent me and friend events #and also recent events where i told sum ppl more stuff about Thing and they responded as if it wasnt a big deal. but it was to me.#and also how i thought a part of al's childhood backstory was kind of maybe dumb and not realistically as impactful as id expect #but i saw someone on reddit almost word for word write that as their experience and how its shaped em as a person #and thats it like... the small things are boring and hard to keep track of sometimes #its not like you'll include every single little event your oc was shaped by in their bio #but idk. its like Fun to piece together for fun. to mold a human being #ykwim? wld be silly to tell everyone ''oh my oc struggles with self image due to many instances like... when their sister called em ugly''#or write it anywhere but it is fun to Know and have in your head. and its real !#just like if a friend told you about something that happened to em #long post #delete later #sorry i keep saying stupid obvious shit lately ive always been bad at oc making AND socializing so im learning everything late #but anyway yes. idk even as i keep making ocs that are ''similar'' its like. every person so different #people can react to anything in any way for any reason. i love people #this is why i struggle a bit with keeping ocs to archetypes i guess bc like. what is ooc for an oc. people contain contradictions all the #time. you can change yourself at any time.#ok nobody will read this far so ill go to the real insane rambling #part of this has been a part of my chats with talon while trying to get him to share more info #like. yeah ok you're 400+ years old the things that happened to you were such a comparatively small part of your life #but humans dont live as long and think about small things until they die. i dont think time would heal all wounds actually. not all of em #some thoughts just always come to gnaw at your brain. its ok to not be over things. i feel ill never be over some things #and also complainerism can be fun but thats something else entirely wee hee ^_^

ok sitting down for a moment at disneyland. elaborating on the post-beat concert shenanigans in the tags

#for those of you invested in my silly misadventures #ok so .#there was the meet n greet earlier which as i said was short but very nice and i was squimshed against ade for the photo #AFTER THE SHOW . go around the concert venue to the area by the stage door #but unlike the beacon theatre we were a long ways away from the stage door it was the huge parking lot and we were fenced off #and based off of the spars concert from last year at the beacon where the guys just left after we waited for almost an hour #i didnt really expect the beat guys would come over or anything but i was willing to wait a while #and wait a while we did and then danny carey came out and eventually came over to us and was really sweet and signed stuff #he wasnt taking any photos but was very nice just like the epitome of fun drummer guy #waited a while more. doubting still that the other guys would come over #next was adrian! and being the absolute sweetie he is he did come over and everything abt him is true #hes just the most wondrous sweet guy ever. he was also radiating comforting dad energy bc that annoying prog fan was there again #and ade was kind of like nicely protective where i was w my friend #ade also liked my inner revolution shirt and remembered me from the meet n greet :)#waited a while more and then eventually steve vai came out and well im sorry what can i say . i was 😵‍💫#it didnt help that when he signed my poster (as the other guys had before him) that like. his hand was resting on my hand god anyway #im sorry. old men musicians are my number one weakness as anyone whos been following me knows #oh i had gotten a blurry photo w ade and then got a flash photo w steve. its horrifying <3 #we waited like an hour more for tony who was on a long ass phone call #but very nicely he came over too and somehow the photo w him turned out nicest. hes such a sweet polite guy #he also sounds like ron mael kinda lol #and thats my adventure!#and now ive spent an obscene amount to see em again. god

It's been rolling around in my brain the last few days for some reason, but I still hate the family backstory reveals for Sophie and Eliot. I've seen some of the meta for it, but quite frankly, it still makes no sense. If it had been something actually thought of and intentional in the original, I think it could have been so fascinating. I mean, Sophie's willing abandonment of Astrid to contrast with Nate's loss of Sam or Eliot's adoption in contrast with Hardison's and Parker's? Could have been excellent! But they came out of nowhere in Redemption and don't work with these characters.

Sophie was still actively using the fucking alias that she met Astrid under! She met with someone from her past on the show! Like. Quite frankly, that one is unequivocally bullshit that they made up and threw in and pretended could fit with the established canon. (And I'm sorry, but the idea of Sophie abandoning Astrid and never telling Nate about her just... So much of Nate's trauma was rooted in the loss of Sam, and I think that introducing this element after he's gone and unable to respond to it taints Sophie and Nate's relationship in a way bc I'm not exactly sure how Nate would've responded to learning about this but I think that it's something he'd have needed to know. I don't know how to fully express my thoughts on that but yeah.)

As for Eliot, I don't like the adoption aspect literally at all. The way that he would interact with his family and the memory of his family would be different, and I think that it's flat out ridiculous to think that he'd have never mentioned it to the team in the original show, especially when dealing with the kid cases. (I also dislike the biracial adoption as its own element because if Eliot was actually raised by Black parents in the... idk what 80s/90s? That just. doesn't feel congruent with how they write Eliot interacting with PoC, not necessarily in a bad way, but babe, he's written like a white southern man raised in a specific kind of culture that does not jell with that. It also makes Eliot look... really bad that he was apparently raised with the knowledge of how fucked up the military was and his parents' history and made the choices that he did.) Like the show may not have explicitly stated it but the implication of that relationship was vastly fucking different throughout the original show.

Just. These were not backstories that were congruent with their depiction and characters in the original show, and they're also just moves that I don't particularly like or find interesting directions for those characters. There's also something to be said about how it was apparently unacceptable for a woman to not have kids or someone not reconciling with their biological family when that was something that the original show handled a lot better. Out of all the directions to take Sophie and Eliot's stories, that's just not really one that I think was a good idea.

#i'm not sure if i worded this v well tbh which concerns me #bc like. like i said i dont like the adoption plot anyways but part of my problem with that storyline IS that billy is black #bc i don't think that the way eliot is written makes sense if he was raised by a black couple during that decade #bc the way that he would have engaged with his family and community and the world around him would've been different #especially bc he was raised in the fucking south in the 80s #bc i dont think eliot was ever racist in the original show but i dont think that he really knew #how it was different for poc in certain ways that dont make sense if he was raised by a black couple #like the previous implications of his childhood and specifically his father were v much in the stereotypical v pro military be a man cultur #that culture is also v rooted in toxic masculinity and whiteness #God i hope that makes sense bc i feel like that sounds v bad #but i'd love more black characters on the show and i think that for pretty much any other mc that'd have been fine #it's specifically eliot with the space that he occupies that i feel like it's a problem with his backstory #which also is why i dont like that he's adopted at all bc that's an influential part in how you first view your place and family and all th #that i dont think makes sense with eliot's character. like literally nothing about that reveal really feels like it makes sense with eliot #and to move over to sophie for a second i feel like bringing up the abandoned stepdaughter would have been pretty damn important #when sophie was struggling with the idea of who she really was beneath the aliases and the grift #and especially when she's in a relationship with nate who WAS a father like #and that she used the charlotte alias to meet with someone from her past but there wasnt anything about the fallout #which still makes no fricking sense either way #also insert something about sophie being an older woman without kids #(i know there's the ot3 but they're not actually in a position as her kids bc theyre still equals in a sense)#and needing to actually go no no she was a mom! and then bailed and did all this and blah blah but she's always been a mom in her heart <3 #and adding in this relationship as if an older woman cant be satisfied or complete without kids #and i know that ppl might bring up parker but like lbr parker is positioned in a v different space narratively than sophie #ofc parker doesn't have kids she's positioned in a space as the Odd one the kinda broken one #her defying the expectations narratively doesnt necessarily work the same bc of her place #idk i kinda hope these dont end up in the main tags bc idk how ppl will respond nor how well i actually got across my points #but i do wanna tag them for my blog so #leverage #sophie devereaux

100% don't punish the growl and listen to your dog and your puppy is not an evil mastermind AND ALSO seeing how Melis behaved today and latey, feeling very validated in our approach to her outbursts of screaming thrashing gnashing teeth being less "sorry sorry never mind" and more "ok buddy are u sure though"

time will tell if she has another ride on the melty brain hormone train coming (Sparta didn't - but she might) but at this moment in time, Melis is a pretty tolerant, people-oriented, socially intelligent little dog who's displaying some very pleasant traits. and who has not growled or snarled or gotten near threshold in many months. at this rate our worst puppy might end up our best dog

#her impulse control is tons better (as one expects when they start to hormonally mature a bit)#and its not so much about teaching her to moderate her behaviour anymore as it seems like she finally understands #that the best way to the best outcome for her is simply to #behave. and take it easy. and trust us and the environment to make things work out in good ways #conflict free resolutions etc #to be fair i think melis has ALWAYS been socially intelligent #i dont think she wouldve adopted the behaviour style she had if she wasnt. she learned VERY EARLY (pre-8wks)#that if she blustered big enough she'd win anything. and that became the most convenient and successful way for her to behave #so all we really had to do was make that behaviour inefficient. not punish it - that wasnt necessary #because the wanted behaviour requires less of her than the unwanted one does #anyway i love her and her remorselessness to bits and now we can foster her need for chaos and violence in productive and harmonious ways #<3

i think im really sad that im feeling bitter abt this bc like. despite the fact that ppl are saying oh yeah its purgatory its never fair. i have a bad taste in my mouth that for once it feels like its not bc of player action its partially to do with weird ruling by the admins on the event (re: the essentially. disregarding of the event points on elimination which i still kinda dont get why they couldnt just retally the points since they had the numbers?)
