Febuwhump Day 1: Vocal Chords (Wild & Twilight)
Read on Ao3
I didn't get a chance to hop on Tumblr for the last few days so I'm posting these now to catch up!
CW for burn wounds, axe wounds, and a spell taking away a character's voice
----------------------------------------------------------------
The forest is quiet, save for the soft hoots of owls and far off chirps of keese. Wild walks on silent feet, careful to avoid fallen branches and piles of decaying leaves. Autumn remains year round in the Akkala region. The air is forever seized with a damp chill, the earth forever laden with the burden of fiery foliage.
Its beauty cloaks danger as the hills of Faron hide flashes of distant lightning.
In this moment, that danger feels closer at hand than usual.
No sooner had the Shadow’s latest portal deposited the heroes in Wild’s time, than the reports had begun pouring forth.
“Monsters!” One positively petrified looking man at the stable had cried, wringing his hands. “Mysterious and horrible! They twist the mind and take what they cannot return!”
“No one’s seen anything like it before!” Said a woman, running a comb through a horse’s silken mane. “We’ve always dealt with monsters around here — you know that better than anyone, Link — but these…these don’t belong to our world.”
And so, the heroes had split up into groups of twos and threes and began their journey to the very corners of Akkala’s wild woods. None had been able to guess what exactly they were looking for or what they would face in the end. But such mystery was nothing new to any of them. And it had never stopped them before.
The prospect of the discovery had been a bit exciting at first, if also tinged with fear. Now, however, Wild finds that his eagerness has diminished. In this place peppered with the fallen corpses of guardians, freckled with water settled long enough to attract bothersome clusters of mosquitoes and gnats, it feels as though the world holds its breath.
He walks forward, Twilight by his side, padding softly upon giant paws, and the beasts and creatures of his overgrown land watch with bated breath. Awaiting the imminent crash of thunder.
Wild reaches out, places a gentle hand on Twilight’s back. Upon his fur, droplets of suspended water have fallen, turning the thick, dark layers cold and damp. A huff of breath through the chilled nose that nuzzles him creates a wisp of fog that takes its time dissipating.
“They’re here.”
It is a murmur, almost a whisper. Wild is no stranger to the feeling that the disturbing of a quiet place is a sin most severe. Many a time he has hardly dared to breathe lest he awaken some monstrosity, harm some delicate beauty. But the sensation now is different. The air is electric. To speak aloud, to shout, would be to invite death.
“I don’t know what they are, but I can feel them. Can you smell anything, Twi?”
The rancher lifts his nose to the air, takes a few audible inhales. Then, to the ground he goes, nostrils blowing small bubbles in the puddles beneath their feet.
He walks forward several more steps before his ears prick up.
Wild’s breath catches. “Did you find something?”
Twilight ducks his head in the affirmative. Wild draws his sword, hefts his shield firmly into his grasp. Together, they start forward.
For what seems an eternity, all is quiet. Not so much as a squirrel or a fox dares to raise their head above the waving grass. Birds do not sing in the trees. Even the Guardians, often prone to rising revitalized from their shallow graves, remain still as the death that binds them.
Perhaps, that is why, when the sound finally comes, it is deafening.
It explodes from behind the two heroes in tongues of ravenous blue-white flame. Pain accompanies them, so cold it sears.
With a shout, Wild tries to lunge sideways. But his foot catches on a smoking log. He stumbles over it and his own feet, lands with a sodden, sorrowful splash.
Quickly, he shoves himself upward on arms that tremble. His back burns. The smell of burnt flesh and charred hair wafts nauseatingly.
Somewhere, someone is crying. Their anguished sobbing fills in his ears, mingling with screams so terrible he feels their echoes in his soul.
The hairs on the back of his neck rise as Wild does. Wiping tears born of smoldering foliage and pain, he stumbles forward. Already, flames have begun to surround him. Even the rampant puddles cannot douse them.
He cannot see their attacker. He cannot see Twilight.
But he can hear him. Over the sobbing, over the screams, is a distinctively sharp yelp.
Laughter splits the air like a cleaving axe.
“Twilight!”
Wild tries to say his name, tries to shout it. His lips form the word, his tongue moves to push it forth. Yet nothing escapes. No sound of his own pierces aching ears.
Already raging panic shoots up to a fever pitch.
He begins to run.
“Twilight! Twilight!”
Speech is an art he can no longer perform. His body is uncooperative. His breath comes so fast it escapes in hiccups.
Eyes glare from the cerulean gloom, eyes that see too much but lack the means to do so. A dark hood, a gown of splotchy gray, a lantern that swings like the pendulum of a grandfather clock. The figure comes forth as though from nothing and drags its claws across his face.
Wild backs up, spluttering, tasting iron. Behind him, someone giggles and it sounds like the cry of one in the throes of death. He does not have time to turn. Something sharp slices through bone and sinew, muscle and veins, and nestles mercilessly into his shoulder blade.
His mouth opens in a scream from which there is no sound. Wild whirls, slashes blindly. The axe falls and slices further as it does so. The ground tilts beneath him. His strikes do not make their desired contact. Air meets them, air thick with smoke and flame.
And from it come countless other lanterns. They bob like barrels on the turbulent waters, approaching with relentless determination.
Any emotion he had harbored before is gone now. Terror is all that is left.
Wild throws himself into a spin attack. His surroundings blur. Heat eats at his face, his body. Fire licks at the edges of his cloak.
The lanterns retreat slightly.
Again, laughter sounds.
Again, pain splinters through him.
Wild crumples with an axe in his thigh.
Find Twilight.
It is all he can do now, the only command he can give himself. It is enough to make him rise, enough to make him draw his own weapon of flame. Balls of fire surge forth, bouncing gallantly in every direction. Their searing crimson is welcome in a sea of cold.
They must hit something, because a screech splits the air. Encouraged, Wild swings again.
This time, he sees it hit. From the hands of a creature sewn like a haunted doll,
drops the axe that had very nearly relieved him of his head.
He flings more flame, sees an opening, and moves towards it as fast as his shredded leg will allow.
Blood rains in his wake, replacing the vibrant crimson of the leaves that have long since turned to ash. Agony lights up his every motion. There are tears in his eyes, pounding in his head. Still, the creatures come. Their lanterns converge, signaling their surrounding him on all sides. With reckless abandon, Wild swings at them.
“Twilight!” It would sound like a sob if it was able. Yet, still no sound escapes.
A spell of some sort, it must be. His jaw aches from its bindings.
Where…where is he?
He does not want to imagine the rancher lying limp in a bed of flame. He does not want to think of him suffocating on smoke. He cannot entertain the idea that Twilight has perished amongst the very stuff that sends him into a panic.
Gasping, Wild stumbles, falls. Claws find him instantly, ruthless in the way they pierce him. They scrape his flesh, expose his bones. He chokes. His weapon falls from his hand. Just as fast, their nails are in the back of his hand, digging through and into the mud beneath.
He looks up into the endless darkness of their gaping eye holes and sees death. There is no escape from it. He wants to run, wants to fight. But no strength surges miraculously within him. No salvation flits down from the heavens in hues of gentle, glittering pink. Nothing arrives to shatter the spell that holds him speechless.
Wild closes his eyes, grits his teeth. He begins to drag his hand through the claws, ripping through his palm. Spots of deepest black and brightest white explode against his eyelids. He opens his mouth and…
Screams.
His eyes fly open. His breath sticks in his throat. Through the stars exploding in his vision, through the tears and ash, dirt and blood, he sees him.
Twilight lunges in a blur of gray, stark against the pearly flame. Jaw wide, eyes flashing, he leaps at the creatures. Blood spurts through the air in furtive arcs, rising from the torn throats of the dead. It drips from his maw as he whirls on them like a beast possessed.
Though they try to tear at him with claw and axe, he is far faster. He weaves between them with expert precision. One after another they fall until all that remains of them are their lanterns and the crackling flames. And even these are smothered by the sudden coming of rain.
Dismal drizzles transform into a true Akkala onslaught within seconds. Smoke rises in graceful plumes. The scent of it melds with moisture and blood. It burns Wild’s throat and eyes.
Twilight limps towards him. The wounds he had fought through before now weigh heavily upon him. When he transforms in a cloud of shadow, he nearly collapses.
But he manages to make it to Wild’s side, to kneel beside him. What little energy the champion had clung to flees so quickly he practically falls into Twilight’s waiting arms. The steady beat of the rancher’s heart fills his ears. Relief floods in, turning leaden limbs weightless. It is almost enough to push aside the nauseating cacophony of screeching pain.
Almost.
“You’re alive,” he croaks, and the relief increases so much that it is dizzying. His lips form the words, his tongue pushes them forth, and they fall audibly upon the smoldering remains of their battle.
The spell, it seems, has broken with the collapse of the last opponent.
“Oh, cub.” Gentle fingers brush back wayward strands of hair. “I’m so sorry. I didn’t realize they were behind us. They must have cloaked themselves. And then I tried to find you, but with all the smoke I couldn’t smell you and I couldn’t hear anything and…”
His next inhale hitches. He holds him tighter.
“I thought I’d lost you.”
Wild presses his face into the rancher’s chest and tries to drown out the agony.
“I thought I’d lost you too,” he breathes. “I tried to call for you and I-I couldn’t. Twi, I couldn’t speak.”
He doesn’t mean for it to escape as a choked sob, and yet, it does. The pain pulsing through him, the remnant screams of his terror — it is all too much.
“I know those monsters,” Twilight says, voice hoarse and unsteady. “They’re from my time. But they’ve never been that powerful before. They’ve never had spells. The Shadow must’ve enhanced their abilities.
“But to have taken your voice…oh, cub. I’m so, so sorry.”
A tear slithers down Wild’s cheek, nudging aside dirt and grime to make its way to his neck. It joins the blood pooled in dark splotches upon his tunic. He clings to Twilight as his consciousness slips through clawing fingers.
“It’s not your fault,” he whispers, words slurring as he begins his descent. “I’m just glad…that you’re here now.”

Optimus prime Masterlist

__________
It's nearly a week later when the sound of little footsteps echo through the forest again. Optimus had taken to using the cave as a sanctuary, he was away from people, war and causing anymore harm; it was his peaceful spot to coexist with the life of earth. He had taken to watching his step a lot more.
"Oppy!, Oppy!" The voice of the child calls out in the forest from different areas of the small meadow. Optimus onlined his optics slowly as familiar foot fall neared, accompanied by an eager call he had not expected to hear again so soon. Unfurling from his rest against the cave wall, he peered out into the dappled forest light just in time to see the youngling break into the clearing, they continued calling out.
"Here, little spark," he rumbled gently, not wishing to startle. His chassis gave a rumble of quiet amusement as they raced over to grasp a digit in childish enthusiasm, peering up at him through delicate facial features wrought only for joy and new discovery.
"Oppy! I knew I'd find you!" they declared proudly, patting his hand. Pars working, I come to play! You wanna see berris? I picked pretty colours for you!" Bright optics shone with innocent invitation, as if this massive metal being was not so different from the little one smiling up at him.
Settling back with a faint creak, Optimus regarded them fondly. "I would be honoured to see your findings, little one." The child slowly rummages through their pockets pulling out crumpled flowers, berries, rocks and dirt, eagerly showing it to the Large bot who's hand they sit on. "Oh look, look! I drew this for you!" They exclaimed as they pulled out a drawing. It's a crude yet adorable child drawing of Optimus. "It's You!" They state proudly.
Optimus gingerly accepted the well-worn offering, optics crinkling with gentle humour and affection as he examined the unmistakably drawing of himself, however simplified.
"You have quite the artistic talent, little spark," he rumbled warmly, carefully stowing the drawing within his chassis to keep safe. "I shall treasure this."
As they continued showing findings, however, his sensors pinged softly, noting the absence of their guardian. Brightening optics subtly scanned the trees, playing drones searching for any signs of the guardian... but none appeared.
A faint thread of concern wove through his field. "Little one, where did you leave your carrier today?" he asked gently after a moment. "Oh, oh! Pars at home. Just the other side of the meadow!," another toothy grin spreads across their face.
Optimus is more worried about the young child wandering off without their guardians knowledge, he slowly walks out into the sunlight with them in his hand. anxiety rising though his systems. They were too young yet to wander so freely alone in the forest unguided.
Stepping carefully out into the dappled sunlight, he turned optics down to them and rumbled in his gentlest tones, "It is not safe for you to wander away from their carrier's care, little one. What if you stumbled upon dangers I was not near to help?." His voice is ever soft as he talks to them. Shifting his hand, he lifted them up to optic level and tapped their tiny nose softly with a digit. "Let us return you home swiftly, less your guardian finds you missing." striding with utmost care and speed towards where he remembered the meadow lay.
A set of eyes flicker up as they hear their loud steps, the crunching of branches and the loud voice of their child. They look up from working in a garden, planting vegetables. They look up worried for a second before seeing their child with the large red and blue robot. "Baby I told you, no going into the meadows without me!" They call out as they stand and begin walking towards Optimus. They are covered in a mix of soil, mulch and fertiliser.
Optimus bowed his helm apologetically as the youngling's carrier approached with concern clear upon their features. Stopping a respectful distance away, he carefully lowered his hand and helped the little one slide to the ground between them.
"Your child came to my shelter with gifts of drawings, yet when seeking their guardian’s presence I discovered them wandering alone and brought them swiftly back." He explains.
They slowly check their child as they pull their cheek lightly. "No wandering without me baby, I mean it, what would have happened if Optimus wasn't there and you got hurt?" They ask the child. The little one just smiles at them without a care or worry. "Thank you Optimus, sorry they seem to have a skill with disappearing and finding trouble" they state with a sigh.
Optimus vented quietly, field radiating amusement. "No apology is needed," he rumbled gently. Turning down to the child now regarding him with less enthusiasm, he continued in a rumble barely louder than a murmur but meant only for young audials, "Your carrier speaks wisdom, little one. These forests hold wonders, but also perils for ones as small as you. Promise you'll not stray from home again, hmm?."
Rising once more to his full height, though still kneeling, he paused watching them together, there was something about this that made his spark ache. "Go have a bath bub" they state to their child giving them a quick kiss to the forehead. “ahhh par you are stinky!” They squeal and take off running into the house. "Bath!, bath!, bath!" They yell in excitement. It makes their parent sigh with a shake of their head. "Don't use all the Hot water!" They yell out.
Optimus' optics crinkled with gentle amusement as the child raced off squealing. his plating shifted in a subtle shrug. "Younglings possess a boundless energy and curiosity it appears," he rumbled.
They slowly try wiping dirt off their face. "Can I get you anything, I'm not sure if you eat or drink but is there anything I can get you?"
"You know you don't have to stay in that cave, you're more than welcome to stay in the barn if you wish" they hum with a smile. For a moment Optimus was surprised by the thoughtful offer, not used to such easy generosity. His optics softened earnestly even as his sensors subtly noted details of the little homestead and its assorted life - taking in the moment watching the small farmhouse and barn, a small collection of many animals linger on the property.
"You are too kind," he rumbled gratefully. Although space within his plating felt... empty, lately, in ways repair and recharge did not mend. He lingers watching as They head inside, helping their child wash up. “ You know one of these days you're gonna get yourself in real trouble you know that kiddo” They huff as they scrub their back. Small giggles leave the child as they throw bubbles back. “But Oppy was out there I wanted to say hi!” They state.
“and what would happen if he wasn't there, baby. You could have gotten hurt” they sigh. Slowly drying their kid off before letting them race around the house. Making dinner and getting them set for the night is a chore in itself. It's only when the phone rings do they let out a tired sigh, answering it.
"Yea, yea I can do that Murphy, I'll be in, in 30 just let me get dressed and put my kid to bed" they state. After the phone call they move around getting dressed quickly. "Baby I've gotta go to work, remember the rules about what to do if I'm not home?" They ask the child. "Mmhmm! I stay inside, lock the doors, don't answer for anyone but you, Par! Can Oppy stay and watch me please?" the little one asks with the biggest pleading eyes, still towelling off damp hair. "Please par? I promise to be good, and not wander, if Oppy watches till your home?"
"I will ask him but you need to go to bed soon it's getting late" they state while pressing another kiss to their forehead. They are quickly out the door. "Sorry I've got to go to work, would you mind just watching them to make sure they don't wander" they ask softly to Optimus. As they head out to their car.
"It is no trouble," he rumbled gently, bowing his massive helm in easy acceptance. Settling just outside where his pedes would not disturb soil, Optimus' optics dimmed in contentment as he slowly sank to sit beside the house. "Oppy, watch a movie?" They ask while moving the TV so Optimus can watch through the window.
his optics flicker gently toward the tiny gaze regarding him through the transparent barrier. "As you wish, little one," he rumbled softly, dipping his chin in a nod. Adjusting his massive bulk carefully so as not to shake the dwelling's foundation, he folded his pedes aside and rested intake against powerful arms,
The starting of the movie, excitedly showing him the Iron Giant. “Look look its you!” they say excitedly while pointing to the metal man on screen. " He comes from space just like you!" They state excitedly. Orion's optics brightened keenly as the child excitedly guided his attention to images upon the screen, quickly parsing scenarios and recognizing similarities between fictional depiction and aspects of his own frame and past.
"Fascinating," he rumbled softly. Looking down with a gentle tilt of helm to meet shining eyes gazing up at him in awe, his field pulsed with warmth. "It would seem he and i are in similar situations."
Turning audio receptors attentively back to the story unfolding, great hands carefully gathered tiny one closer within his palm, sheltering them in one massive digit as together they watched adventures of the unlikely bond between alien visitor and human child unfold.
As the movie plays on they continue explaining things to Optimus. The large bot focuses in as the movie shows a little boy saving the large bot from a power plant and how their friendship slowly evolves. It makes him see the parallel with his own situation. As it gets to the scene with the Deer, it makes Optimus' spark ache, remembering what had happened only a week ago when he had stepped on a deer. “ Ah I see why you refer to me as the Iron Giant” he states ever so softly. Within some time the child is asleep on the couch. Optimus can feel the rain clouds rolling in and decides it's time to retreat into the barn for the night. Transforming down into his alt mode, systems powered down into minimal low-energy mode as the rains began. The little one had drifted into recharge as intended, and his duty for now was fulfilled.
It's a peaceful night until the thunder starts. Cries break through the air. Setting Optimus fuel lines a blaze with true terror hearing the child crying out.
Optimus systems roared instantly back to full alert status at the first crack of thunder and subsequent crying, Transforming smoothly and silently into root mode once more, he began querying sensors for signs of harm - but quickly pinpointed the source as the small one rightfully frightened by nature's fury. The small patterns of foot fall along the wet ground echo's as they run into the barn, meeting his blue optics in fear.
"Little one, it is alright. Its only the sky." Holding out palm upturned,
"It's scary, it's after me!" They cry out.A pang of sorrow shot through Optimus core at the terror in those tiny words, and he responded without pause - tiny arms had barely reached him before he folded massive digits as gently as his construction allowed around them, lifting and tucking them close to his broad chestplate in a cradling hold.
"Shh, little one," he murmured, the steadfast thrum of his own mighty spark resonating against their frame. "The thunder cannot harm you, I promise." he leaned carefully back against the barn walls, free hand coming up to form a shelter around them as the storm raged on outside. "Listen to my sparkbeat," he whispered through the noise, They pull their stuffy and blanket closer. Pressing themself into Optimus’ chest flinching every time the loud thunder echoes in the distance. Snuggling closer to him hoping he will chase away the monster in the storm.
Optimus core ached anew at each flinch of tiny form against his own, Curving lithe digits ever-so-carefully around the little one and their favoured possessions, he cradled them close as any carrier would.
"Listen to my pulse, little spark," he murmured softly between cracks above, voice a low, calm anchor in the chaos. "No monster dares face a Prime. I have you." Dipping his helm, Optimus brushed a tender kiss of metal against their head, They eventually fell back asleep snuggled against his form. He powers back down. Locking his systems so that no harm would come to them by him moving in recharge.
When dawn's light broke anew over gentle fields, his core pulsed gratitude for the reminder that life went ever on, even in darkness' wake. And as tiny optics fluttered open to his calm regard once more, he knew true purpose and solace would await wherever innocence required shelter and guardians stood watch.
It's very early morning when they finally arrive home, drained as the head towards the door keys in hand. When they go to open the door only to discover it's unlocked. Cold fear runs through their veins, they move towards the barn with speed. Optimus systems powered alertly at the barn door's opening, yet he remained as still as possible, not wishing to disturb the little one's recharge. Lifting weary optics, A digit raised gently to his intake. “shhhh” he calls out softly.

ROUND FOUR
ROCK LEE vs HATAKE KAKASHI
Reasons for submission under the cut
Lee
ROCK LEE VS GAARA
kind as can be; willing to jump to action to help his fellow comrades even after going through a life-threatening, major surgery
practical and fashion-forward with his bright green onesie. Function over form, and is prepared at all times by carrying around a spare onesie he will give without question to anyone - even complete strangers
has a surprising edge to him at the beginning of the series; he was ready to severely maim anybody that he saw as a genius
more dedicated than anyone. Was forced to face his own mortality and make a life-or-death decision in the name of his dream, after a literal crushing defeat, and he chose to fight for it. Inspiring
embodies the ideals of original series Naruto. True underdog, had nothing going for him, came from nothing with no legacy or powers, was so disadvantaged that he physically could not meet the bare minimum abilities of his peers. But he worked harder than everyone else and proved that he can be a great shinobi despite all the adversity he faced
Sasuke had to copy Lee’s moves with his Sharingan to succeed during Chuunin exams
cute as a button. Come on.
his fans are dedicated and make amazing work, fanart and fanfic
Kishimoto said he was his favorite character to draw. Boom. Favoritism. Love to see it.
pairs well with everyone. Platonic or romantic, Lee has a great dynamic with other characters
his summer outfit from Guardian of the Crescent Moon Kingdom was the best outfit in the movie
gave us Metal Lee! Blessed us with Metal Lee, really
was the character to beat in the early series if you wanted to show how strong you actually are
Gaara vs Rock Lee was one of the most iconic fights in the series, and everyone remembers where they were when they first saw Lee drop his weights. He owned that fight so hard that people forget he lost.
was wronged by the series. He deserves to win as justice.
got [submitter] personally through the worst times; his ability to persevere face of adversity convinced me I could do it too. He wasn’t special and neither was [submitter], but we didn’t need to be. We can make ourselves great. If no one else got me, Rock Lee’s got me
he’s one of the first non-jutsu using ninja so make such a big impact
was the first person to actually harm Gaara
played a huge part in Gaara becoming a better person
he’s one of the only people that can catch up to Sasuke and easily rivals Naruto in Taijutsu
his kind, determined and cheerful attitude is a joy to watch
Rock Lee removing his weights is easily one of the most iconic moments in the entire anime
has helped several submitters feel better by simply thinking about how he wouldn’t want them to think like that
objectively would’ve made a better protagonist based on the themes alone
KICKS MAJOR ASS
wrecked Sasukes shit, I like Sasuke but that was really funny
he looks like a frog. Who doesn’t like frogs
inspired Sasuke
fights are always entertaining, they’re very well choreographed
he forgave Gaara for nearly killing him and nearly ending his dreams; he was never even mad at him
Rock Lee vs Sasuke was iconic
his heart is so full of love
never did anything wrong
had a squirrel befriend him
hard worker

brother to fushiguro tsumiki. (unofficially adopted) son to gojo satoru and you. nephew to a host of sorcerer uncles and aunts. (unwilling) assistant to the white-haired idiot. and, finally, ringbearer at your and gojo's still-undetermined wedding.
one teeny-tiny boy with one too many identity is what fushiguro megumi is - until he isn't. with lots and lots of sniffles and sniggers...
▸ gojo satoru x fem! reader; established relationship; post hidden inventory arc; manga spoilers; proposals; adoptions; alternate universe happy for everyone except toji lovers (sorry >︿<)
▸ two fics in a week, wow. guess this is what is called a brainrot, huh? read this post by @/mintmatcha on tumblr and started writing this lol. but the plot of this story is miles, tons, eons away from that post, i swear. also, this fic is set in the same universe as blue hawaii but you need not read that first to read this. treat this as a stand-alone if you wanna! 😊 anyways, gif, divider and characters ain't mine. please don't plagiarize, translate or repost this. enjoy reading! ❤️
"yeah, yeah, i've got it all planned."
a discreet eye roll is all megumi gives as he goes through the menu card in his hands. a little distance away, he can spy tsumiki and you seated at a table, you tying his sister's long hair into braids while the latter laughs, probably at a joke you cracked.
a tiny smile rests on the little boy's face at the sight - which vanishes when he feels a large hand tousle his hair. you had spent hours and hours righting his hair into a proper shape; why must this idiot always mess everything up?
megumi looks up to find his guardian looking down at him with a shit-eating grin; though he can clearly see the nerves it's covering.
idiot.
phone wedged in between his ear and shoulder, gojo mutters a "one sec, suguru," and crouches down to the boy's eye level. the latter gives back an unimpressed stare.
"decided what you wanna have, 'gumi? remember mom and sis there asked you to choose for them today."
megumi feels an urge to say you two aren't his real parents - but stamps it down instantly. the both of you have been as good as real parents can be to their kids - or maybe even better. the boy has read books, watched movies and listened to his classmates talk about their families; the tiny urchin-head knows.
with a huff, he points at the double chicken fillet burger box - it's tsumiki's favourite and you too don't seem to dislike it. with a nod, gojo rises and placing his orders, returns to the call, beaming expression again directed at megumi.
"yeah, yeah, don't worry, man," he speaks into the phone, then drops his volume to a mere whisper, "'my little kiddo here is a born actor. he remembers the entire plan, step by step - don't you, buddy?"
megumi gives an imperceptible nod, itching back to get back to the table. he already would have - needless to say, the little munchkin prefers your company to gojo's, way way more - but their orders have not been delivered yet and the boy promised to be-
a little tap on the shoulder draws him from his musings and he cranes his neck up to find gojo frowning. "no, megumi didn't want to discuss the plan with me before leaving. no, he doesn't like you better- hey," the man looks at him, sunglasses sliding down the bridge of his nose revealing his indignant gaze, "you wanna discuss with uncle suguru one last time?"
an indifferent shrug is all the reply he gives.
while uncle suguru isn't the best uncle he has, he isn't the worst either. the others are- oh, wait. the others include uncle kento and uncle yu. they are literal angels compared to him. so... maybe... he is the worst... never mind. it's too late to back out anyways.
grumbling, gojo hands him the phone. "hello uncle," megumi greets just like you and tsumiki have taught him to. the man behind mutters something along the lines of ''traitor" or something; the boy pays him no mind.
"hey champ," the voice floats over the line, pleasant, kind and the way people talk to babbling babies. megumi's bored face turns irritated. "let's discuss the semantics one last time before boarding your flight, okay?"
"yeah, okay," megumi says, and casting a sideways glance at his bundle-of-nerves guardian, continues, "we're going to reykjavik," he looks at gojo, silently asking if he pronounced it correctly. the man sends him a thumbs-up with an encouraging grin.
the kid continues, "the plane will land at noon day after tomorrow, which is mom's birthday. first, we will go to the hotel. then, after resting, in the evening, we will head out in a car to watch the northern lights. and then-"
"-when it's the right moment, your dad will pop the question to your mom and you'll click the camera. got it, mr. future ringbearer?" finishing the rest of the sentence for him, the man at the other end asks, sounds of pans clacking and food sizzling in the background. nana-chan and mimi-chan must have woken up.
megumi nods. "yeah, got it, mr. future best man."
a chuckle comes in response to his comment. "you're a lot like your mom, y'know?"
"yeah," he mumbles, waving back to you and tsumiki, a little smile on his otherwise-impassive-but-always-adorable face, "i know."
"good," the man says, then pauses when a loud crash booms through the air and through the phone, a set of two wailing voices following it not soon after. megumi can quite literally picture the wincing frown his uncle is wearing as he says the next words in a hurry, "okay, 'gumi. talk to you later. bye, and best of luck! satoru's counting on his little assistant."
"yeah, thanks," he responds but is too late - the call is already cut by then.
giving the phone back to gojo, who's tapping his sneakers-clad feet on the floor, he looks back ahead, wondering when the hell heck their token number will be displayed and when they will get their food.
to the kid's great relief, it doesn't take a lot of time.
before long, the four of you are seated around the table, gojo stealing a sip from your drink and you stealing fries from him, all the while tsumiki giggles loudly at your antics. megumi smiles, before he hides it behind the burger which he takes a bite from.
the four of you really look like a family, don't you?
"hey, guys, can i have your attention for a sec, please?" your sudden question startles him from his mind. the boy turns to find you with your usual grin, albeit a smidgen of anxiety can be found in the way your fingers drum on the table.
megumi shares a look with tsumiki and gojo. they look as confused as he feels. "do i have your attention, people?" you ask again, manner growing a tad solemn unlike your usual, though the affection is still evident in your tone.
gojo and tsumiki nod immediately. you turn to him, gently smiling, "can i have your attention too, 'gumi? please?"
the boy nods his head instantly. "yeah, yeah. sure," he replies, scooting his chair closer to yours. you send him a relieved smile. "good, 'cause what i'm going to say next is very important. so, listen to me carefully, 'kay?"
all three of them are eager to nod in affirmation and anticipation.
scouring through your backpack, you retrieve a couple of pretty important-looking papers, and placing them back on the table, clasp your hands atop them. the kid spots gojo shoot you a worried look to which you respond with a reassuring smile.
the man's frown fades a little.
gaze now darting from one kid to another, you begin, "you two know, right, we love you very much?"
"yeah!" tsumiki exclaims, but is quick to fall silent when megumi shoots her a glare. you proceed, lips pressing into a thin line, "but we cannot adopt you two, in spite of how much all us want it to happen. we tried to, many, many times. but those higher-ups just won't let us do that."
a second passes - one wherein his young brain registers your words - before, lower lip wobbling, the boy casts his gaze down upon his light-up sneakers.
is this where you'll say he'll be sent to those zen'ins? away from his sister? away from you and gojo? away from all his uncles, aunts, nana-chan and mimi-chan?
megumi feels a hand card through his locks gently. looking up, he finds you with a soft smile. "but the thing is 'toru and i didn't let them defeat our purpose. we thought, you two can choose to be my clan's wards. not 'toru's, because of fucking - sorry, please forget i said that word - i meant, idiotic clan politics. so, what do you think?"
megumi turns to his sister, a pensive look plastered on her face the way it is on his. gojo adds, a tender smile in place of his usual stupid grin, "no pressure, kids. the both of us won't love you two any less and will be equally fine in case you choose not to."
"you guys can take how much ever time you need to think. there's no hurry," megumi hears you say, your warm hand rubbing circles on his back, as he turns back to his half-eaten burger.
a long moment passes.
passengers enter the cafeteria, they leave the cafeteria. the four of you remain seated, quietly munching on your food.
the boy finally removes his gaze from his now-empty tray and sends an inquiring, confused, hopeful look to his sister. tsumiki smiles back with a tiny nod. the little kid feels his heart burst with joy.
"we want to," the two of them answer in unison, and within a fraction of a second, megumi finds himself swept up in a warm hug alongside his sister, by you. "thank you for giving me, for giving us a chance," he hears you mutter quietly in a tear-choked voice. the boy simply pats your back the way you do to him. he soon feels another set of arms wrap around the three of you.
megumi thinks he has never felt happier or safer than in this moment.
a while passes with the four of you in this manner, enwrapped in an embrace, before you all finally pull away from each other.
the boy returns to his seat, rubbing his eyes. a minute passes in composing all of yourselves before you state, munching on another fry, "so, step one, including tsumiki and megumi into my legal family is done and successful. thank you, my loves."
tsumiki beams back at you; megumi returns a tiny smile. you grin at them - which, the kid watches, turns slyer as you switch your focus to your boyfriend.
the little boy stares at you, then stifles a snicker - he thinks he has a pretty good idea of what's gonna happen next. his gut instincts are rarely wrong, after all.
"but, 'toru..." you drawl, grin giving way to a smirk as gojo smiles back - perplexed but loving all the same. "for the step two, making you my legal family too, guess i need to wait to say 'yes' until the northern lights viewing two days later... don't i?"
a beat passes, then another, and another.
a loud gasp sounds from tsumiki. megumi turns to his dad - who's gaping wide-eyed at his mom now, the man's face whiter than his ugly hair - and smirks. just like the imp the goggles-wearing idiot always calls him at home, despite you repeatedly telling him not to.
gojo looks back at him, shock written on, engraved into his features.
"though i didn't really help you propose, i'm still the ringbearer, right?"

that strange, strange guardian; f!guardian x crow ficlet;
i was thinking about Crow meeting the Guardian for the first time and maybe getting a little.. pining :) so I wanted to write that for him and my Hunter Cherish! also on ao3
Crow finds himself a ruin to perch on, legs swung off the ledge. He squints in the warm afternoon glow and pulls the hood down his head, letting the light bathe him. It is a place miles away, figuratively and literally, from the Spider's dim lair, away from its oppressive walls and reminders of his duty.
For the first time in the whirlwind of the past few days does Crow have the time to ruminate on all that's happened. Finding Osiris, lightless and in danger, fighting the Celebrant, meeting… a Guardian. The Guardian.
Crow expected plenty of things to follow after. To have her rage at him, to have her throw her knives, to feel the pierce of a bullet from her hand cannon and its horrible grating as the last sound he hears before succumbing to a temporary death.
She recognized him, there was no doubt of it.
But no matter how cautiously he waited, none of that came to be. Her knives stayed sheathed, her hand cannon at her hip. She talked about the hunt and asked about the Spider.
She… smiled. And laughed at his joke when he attempted to crack one to break the ice. Her laughter was odd and hoarse, as if she'd long forgotten how to do it.
And when the time came, she left with a casual promise to come see him soon again. How soon is soon, Crow wondered?
A cloud passes high in the sky, hiding the light momentarily. It draws Crow out of his sleepy contemplation, and instead he pulls out his knife, balancing it clumsily on the tip of his finger.
“Glint?”
“Yes, Crow?”
“That Guardian we met… Do you know her?”
“Not personally, but I know of her. She's quite the character.”
“Mhm?”
“She's the Young Wolf! She fought Oryx and Ghaul and U- uhh, so many others,” Glint supplies with excitement. “She's the real deal.”
“So I noticed.”
Really clever, really brave and… really pretty.
Crow considers, bringing up the memory of that woman, with her bright blue eyes that stared at him in wonder. Or in concern, Crow finds he is not able to tell. But there was more in her gaze, a certain pain, tiredness, deepened by the shadows beneath her eyes. Like she's seen things she would rather forget.
And when she looked at him… Puzzled? Concerned? He could not tell.
Crow does remember the Guardian wielding a power unlike anything he's seen before in his young Guardian years. So used the Crow is to Solar power, or to the nothingness of the Void, or the sharpness of Arc. But this? There was an aura of ice and cold around that Guardian. She threw sharp knives with precision, her armour coated with blue when the battle angered her, manifesting in a storm of cold. As if she became winter itself.
The cloud above passes, and again the world is warm in the embrace of light. Soon, Crow would have to make his way back to the Tangled Shore and wipe the smile from his face and stuff his dreams elsewhere, where the Spider would not possess them.
“Do you think the Guardian really wants to work with me?” he asks cautiously, balancing the knife for a moment longer, watching it flicker with sunlight.
“Of course! Her Ghost has already sent me some intel for our Celebrant hunt.”
That small link, yet so meaningful. Crow sheathes the knife, rising to meet the setting sun. He feels his chest breathe easier, the clasp of loneliness having left him.
The Guardian wants to work with him. And she likes his jokes! And maybe selfishly, Crow hopes that his company would soothe away whatever pain has put those deep shadows beneath her eyes.

I love how Friede is becoming a softie and being a guardian to liko and roy. His friends are enjoying watching the change too xD
YESS gosh what I've been enjoying through the last twelve episodes is the progression from 'I'm a hired bodyguard' to 'These are my Kids™'.
Let me just ramble about Friede is Becoming a Dad moments I've noticed and adored up until episode 12:
In the first couple of episodes, he was quick to assure Liko when Sprig got nabbed. Asked her for some time so he can be properly sure that they have a lead so they're not seeking blindly. When they did find where Sprig is held at, he stopped her from rushing in without a plan and instead, acted like bait to draw Amethio's attention while she goes to save her cat. Yes hi Liko do you think he's going to let you run into danger like that.
When they got to the island where Roy is at, aside from the fact that he saved the pair from the angry Bug-types, he didn't dismiss Roy's feelings of wanting to be Fuecoco's partner. He simply wanted him to understand that it's a two way street; Roy can't singularly push his feelings without considering Fuecoco's as well. Allowing him to stay on board for the night (with Cap's permission too) so he'll have the time and opportunity to convey these feelings to Fuecoco? Yeah, that's the Dad in him peeking out.
Of course, we can't forget the time where he sees Liko's curiosity with the island Pokemon and decided to delay their return because of it. The way he watched Liko and then smiling like that? He's compromising for his kid right there.
When the Explorers attacked, even Amethio got annoyed with the way he kept getting distracted from the fight. I feel like ordinarily, Friede's not the sort to keep his eyes away from battle but he does so here because he's worried for Roy. He can't help it when there's the potential of that Rhyhorn doing harm unto Roy and Fuecoco.
He was relieved when Fuecoco pulled off his Ember but of course, his inattentiveness costed him when Amethio went straight for Liko. He's trying to get to his kids!!
Look at him being so supportive of Roy and Fuecoco being partners! And how happy he is to know that both of them were brought together by the RVT flag! That's another kid acquired yes sir.
I imagine this goes both ways. Friede thus far has prove the be quite the protective guy, not just to the kids but to his crew in general. He's the captain of this motley crew. These people from different walks of life all came together under the Rising Volt Tacklers flag where their motto is "chase each mystery we see until it's solved." Well it's no mystery that the good captain here has become Dad to the kids on board.
Also this shows Friede and by extension the rest of the crew doesn't force Dot to change who she is. They know she's reclusive, grumpy, strict but they more or less leave her be. I personally find that nice to see.
I adore this bit because while he gets to munch on the doughnuts Dot doesn't touch, it goes to show that he cares that Murdock wants to make something that she'll eat. His encouraging words are not just towards the kids!
Friede trying to give advice to Roy in this moment was so sweet! He's trying to be a good role model to his kid (now if only he sat through the whole advice giving moment).
Look at him witnessing and trusting Roy in his battle! That's a proud dad look right there!
And look at how happy he is to know that Dot ate Murdock's doughnuts! He's just so sweet!
SIRS WHERE IS YOUR KID.
See I can't be normal here I just can't not when he watches Liko standing up for herself and expressing what she wants with that warm look and smile and that whispered I'm happy for you FRIEDE THE DAD IN YOU IS JUMPING OUT.
AND THIS RIGHT HERE. SPOKEN LIKE A TRUE DAD. FRIEDE PLEASE DO YOU HEAR YOURSELF.
I WAS JUST AHHH AT THIS MOMENT. HE TRIES TO ACT LIKE HE'S NOT WORRIED BUT HE'S THE FIRST TO HEAD OUT THE MOMENT HE LEARNS THAT THERE'S A PROBLEM. I love how Murdock and Orla (rightfully) called him out on that!
HE IS WORRIED FOR HIS KIDS!!
HE'S READY TO RUSH OVER IF THEY'RE IN TROUBLE!!
I SWEAR THIS MAN NEEDS TO STOP EXPRESSING HIS CARE IN THIS SOFT, WHISPERED VOICE AND ACTING LIKE THERE'S NOTHING WRONG!!
HE KEEPS CALLING THEIR NAMES IN WORRY LIKE KIDS CAN YOU PLEASE STOP BEING WHISKED AWAY BY PLOT SO YOU'D STOP WORRYING YOUR DAD!!
DON'T WORRY MISS MA'AM YOUR DAUGHTER IS SAFE WITH HIM HE'S READY TO PROTECT HIS KIDS WITH HIS LIFE!!
Also I wholeheartedly believe that based on the bits of scenes that was shown, he's pulling out that terastalization because he got cornered and gotta fight but he HAS TO GET BACK TO HIS KIDS THEY'RE IN DANGER!!
So yes those are the moments that I like and I think showcases how he's just being a Dad to Liko and Roy (and sometimes Dot). If you've reached the end, thank you for listening to me ramble. As you can see, I have a lot of feelings for him 🥰🥰🥰

Shadow is hiding away and avoiding everyone and Wade is very worried about what could be wrong.
Then he hears cries and runs in, to see little wings have sprouted from Shadow's back
OK SO, TWO THINGS:
First, I WILL DRAW SOMETHING FOR THIS, I DONT KNOW WHAT YET BUT I WILL!!!
Second, enjoy this lil concoction my brain came up with :D
Normal. Wade would call this day pretty normal. A weekend taking care of his three alien kids. Others may say it's not normal but to Wade? This is their normal, and no one can tell them otherwise. He was glad that it was his day off, it allowed him more time to spend with his kids, watching a movie and overall just enjoying a relatively quiet life. A hug from Silver, a soft sound of contentment from Shadow, and the way Eclipse snuggled against him when the other two weren't looking.
Wade was proud of how they all came together as a family despite their... rocky start. He wouldn't change anything for the world.
Wade gently ran a hand through silver's quills gently, assured that they were smoothed down and relaxed. He knew that his sons all liked some form of physical connection with him but he also knew their preferences for when. Silver was just the one to like openly showing such signs of affections. Shadow was more subtle but he still enjoyed a few head pats and hugs every now and again. Eclipse says he doesn’t like such things, but silently craves it.
Everything was normal. Normal and peaceful for once. Yet there was this nagging feeling at the back of Wade's mind- something telling him that this was wrong. Something was severely wrong. He couldn't quite tell what was wrong, only that something was wrong. Today was just a bit too quiet.
Halfway through the movie "Rise of the Guardians", Shadow had let out a quiet grunt and got up and out of his comfortable spot against Wade and headed off towards his and Silver's room. The look that crossed between Silver and Eclipse didn't go unnoticed by Wade. he might not be the sharpest tool in the shed at times but he knew his kids. Silver and Eclipse never did see things eye to eye, except when it came to Shadow.
Before Wade could even ask what was wrong, Eclipse wordlessly got off of the couch and made his way towards where Shadow had disappeared to. Neither Wade nor Silver went back to watching the movie, having practically forgotten about it by this turn of events. Reaching over for the remote, Wade shut off the TV and allowed Silver to snuggle closer to him.
“Silver?” Wade finally asked after observing the silver hedgehog closely, taking note of how his ear flicked towards the direction of his and Shadow’s rooms.
“Hm…?” Silver could only let out a small hum, his focus seemingly taken by listening in on what was happening between Shadow and Eclipse.
"What's wrong buddy?" Silver's ear flicked again as he buried his face into his father's arms.
"It's nothing..."
"Come on buddy, you can tell me." Silver looked up to Wade and frowned slightly. Taking a quick glance towards his room, Silver let out a small whine. Wade only ran his hand through Silver's quills again in an attempt to comfort his son.
"Shadow doesn't want me to tell you..."
"Why's that?"
"..."
"..."
"Shadow said he wasn't feeling good... even Eclipse noticed." Silver admitted, half curling up in Wade's arms. He knew his brother would be mad, but Silver really didn't know what to do. He wanted Shadow to be OK, to be safe. But this was the first time Shadow had said he didn't feel too well and Silver needed to tell someone, but he didn't want to make Shadow mad either.
Wade frowned softly, offering his middle son a comforting hug, telling him that he did the right thing telling him. But Wade also worried for his eldest. He knew Shadow couldn't get sick, so what else could it have been?
That was when both Silver and Wade startled at the sudden loud thud from the other room and a yell from both Eclipse and Shadow. Paling, Wade instantly shot up from the couch, followed closely by Silver, the grey hedgehog's hands glowing faintly in preparation for whatever had caused the other two members of their family yell.
"Eclipse!" Upon turning the corner, Wade instantly rushed over to Eclipse's side, fretting over the alien.
Eclipse was sprawled against the wall opposing the door from Silver and Shadow's room, the door torn from its hinges. Eclipse groaned softly, clutching onto his arm. It was definitely dislocated. "S-shadow..." Eclipse groaned softly, attempting to get up only to be caught by Silver's psychokenisis.
"Eclipse what happened?" Wade demanded, helping Silver set down Eclipse against the wall so he wouldn't rush up again.
"S-Shadow... Shadow! He's not alright!" Eclipse managed to whimper before letting out a yell of pain as he held onto his head, his tail lashing wildly. "Stop!! Make him stop!!" The Darkling whimpered trying to block out the sudden influx of noise in his head.
A second scream tore through the house. Shadow's scream.
Silver froze on the spot, scared of what was happening. Wade however didn't. His son was in pain. And nothing would stop him from protecting his son- no matter what.
"Silver, watch Eclipse." With that, Wade swiftly made his way into the room, scanning everything quickly to find Shadow on the far wall on his hands and knees heaving heavily. His back was facing towards Wade.
Quickly Wade rushed to his eldest side. Worry and panic being pushed down by the determination to see his son alright again. "Shadow?" Wade called out in hopes to get a reaction from the black hedgehog.
He did get a reaction, but not one he was expecting. Shadow's head snapped up towards Wade, a low, intense growl. A growl like that of a hungry, hungry beast.
Wade froze for a second, his eyes widening at the sight. In front of him, Shadow was hunched over on all fours, large tears rolling down his muzzle, his quills all raised and sparking with a similar energy to that of Sonic's. His gloved were discarded off to the side, his claws in full display. On his forehead, a large glowing yellow black and yellow eye. Two lumps on his back began to grow as Shadow suddenly pounced.
Wade only had a millisecond to dodge the sudden attack from his own son. However wade had been too slow as Shadow latched onto Wade's shoulder with his teeth, his claws digging right into his arm as Shadow forced Wade to slam into the wall head first. Wade hissed in pain, biting back a curse and the flash of white in his vision.
Wade winced as pain shot up his arm and head. He was pretty sure he had a concussion and a fractured arm, having been practically pinned down by Shadow's superior strength at full force. Shakily, Wade lifted up his other arm slowly, earning a louder growl from Shadow as he bit down harder.
Wade bit on his tongue to not yell in pain. Instead he forced himself to reach out and gently stroke Shadow between the shoulder blades, where the two lumps grew into strange wings. But Wade didn't question it. He needed to get his son to calm down.
"S-shhh... its OK..." Wade whispered, rubbing gently circles against Shadow's back. "It's alright Shadow, I'm here... I won't let you go."
Wade couldn't tell how long he and Shadow stayed like that, in fact he didn't really care. All he cared about was Shadow's state. But it was starting to get really hard to stay focused. Eventually the pressure on his shoulder disappeared, and in his warm embrace sobbed Shadow, holding on tightly onto Wade and apologising quietly.
"Shh... i-its alright, blackberry... you're safe now..." Seeing how his son's eyes had cleared from whatever frenzy that was made Wade sigh in relief. Allowing himself to slip into unconsciousness. All he heard as it faded to black was Shadow's panicked yell for help and Silver's gasp.
...
When Wade opened his eyes again, everything was white. White and bright. There was a tight pressure around his arm and shoulder and there was an underlying twinge of pain accompanying any movement. At least he knew he wasn't dead.
His thoughts immediate turned to his sons. He wondered where they were when suddenly a grey and red head peaked out from the corner of his vision.
Eclipse stood there, holding out a bouquet of freshly picked flowers, his eyes wide as he stared at Wade. Dropping the flowers, Eclipse instantly rushed to his side, tears stinging the corner of his eyes as he rushed in for a hug. "Wade!!!"
The sudden exclamation caused a silver head to pop up from the foot of the bed. "Huh?! Wha- DAD!!" his drowsiness disappeared at the sight of Wade being awake.
"H-Hey boys..." Wade winced, his voice was so hoarse. How long had he been asleep?
Silver sniffled and held onto Wade tightly. "You're finally awake!! You wouldn't wake up!"
"Yeah! You were asleep for three days! I got really cold!" Eclipse complained but there was a shakiness to his voice, suggesting his relief.
"Sorry..." Wade couldn't help but smile, but soon his smile disappeared as he looked around. "Where's shadow...?"
Silver and Eclipse exchanged a look again as they continued to cling to Wade. The first to speak up was Silver. "Shadow... didn't leave the room or eated since..." his ears drooped.
Wade couldn't help the frown at the news. He couldn't help but worry. "C-could you call him...?"
With a quick nod from Eclipse, Shadow appeared only moments later. The black hedgehog stood off to the corner, his eyes wide and full of hope. He hesitated for a moment but then quickly rushed forward to hug Wade when Wade gave Shadow one of his smiles.
Shadow was allowed onto Wade's lap, having needed to be comforted more than his brothers right now. It wasn't easy knowing you were the reason your own dad was hospitalised, that's why Wade was going to make sure that Shadow knew well that he wasn't at fault here.
"I'm sorry...." Shadow finally whispered, nuzzling closer to Wade after calming down his sobs.
"And I forgive you, Shadow." Wade smiled offered Shadow a hug while running his fingers through his eldesg son's quills. Gently, Wade cupped Shadow's cheek and made him look at him directly.
Wade was quiet for a moment before a wider smile crossed his face. "Didn't know hedgehogs have three eyes and wings. That's pretty cool!" Shadow's breath hitched and a whine escaped him. Seeing the signs of insecurity, Wade leaned over and gave shadow a small, tender kiss on the top of his head, just above the third eye. "I love you shadow. No matter what."
It was like a dam had broken as shadow began wailing and sobbing harder, clinging tightly onto Wade soon being joined in by Silver and Eclipse on cuddling their dad. Wade didn't mind. His boys were safe and that was all that mattered.
"I love you three. So much..."
"Love you too, dad." Silver replied back sniffling slightly, glad to have his dad back.
It would get some getting used to, but that was normal for Wade. It was normal for their little strange family.

Memorable Moments / Wisdom
Io remained the same in spite of everything else that’s happened. Ikora came to the Jovian moon expecting it to be changed as well, but found the only thing different was her. As a person. Doubtful. Hopeless, and stripped of the light. What was once the steady presence of a background hum is now a gaping void of silence. Emotions that had been long-time strangers now rise back to the surface to force their re-acquaintance if she lingers too long on that thought.
The traveler was caged and the last safe city was no longer safe, overrun with red legion troops making a mess of what humanity had re-built. She scans the horizon, eyes dragged to the focal point of the cradle, a strange series of geometric risings carved out of the yellow sulfur infused ground. Like the beginnings of a project once started but left unfinished and abandoned.
Like how she abandoned the city. Ikora draws in steady breath as she turns around to face the area commonly dubbed the lost oasis. Lost, like I am. It’s hard for her to reach for the usual faith she holds in the light as Ikora stands by watching idly the taken in the distance near tear shiver and teleport in that unnatural way. She feels powerless. She hates this feeling.
All the wisdom Ikora possessed seemed outside her reach at this moment, feeling untethered to an integral part of who she was and her belief system. Holding the highest crucible record meant nothing if that bravado was only backed by the strength of her light, who is she outside of that capability? Another cowering mortal, waiting out the oncoming days, seeing which day might be the last?
Who did she want to be was the real question. Her hands tightened for a moment behind her back before deciding to get down in a kneeled position, choosing to meditate on the dilemma. Ikora shuts her eyes and sets her breathing into an even pace as her mind flickers between images of what used to matter to her, what matters now and what always had.
The pursuit of knowledge. Proving herself and her strength. Learning to study and grow from other’s teachings. Knowing her identity separated from that and knowing when to walk away. Ikora inhales, then exhales.
Her fire team. Zavala. Cayde. Her Hidden. The rest of the guardians and the mortal civilians of the last city. Everyone who is still there, doing their best to survive this current crisis like many others. But this was different, this threat brought right to their doorstep, right on top of their home and safe haven. Ikora clenches her fists in her lap again. How dare they. Taking the traveler and their home.
Ikora continues her meditation with her evened breathing to prevent herself from feeling overwhelmed, when she hears the tell-tale sound of a jump ship flying overhead. She looks up and sees what she believes to be the guardian’s ship, now hovering to settle in low orbit as they transmat out of the vehicle.
She rises and looks back out toward the cradle, feeling a sort of kinship to it out here half undone and lonely on its own. Ikora hears the guardian’s footsteps behind her with what seems like misplaced confidence, all things considered, and she feels… Wait. She feels the presence of the guardian as she always had, including their light.
The guardian’s light? How? Ghaul cut off the traveler! Ikora kept her surprise inward as she argued internally over this. The guardian had proven to be quite extraordinary, maybe they were somehow unaffected? But there was footage of them falling from high up, like a puppet cut from its strings along with their ghost being spotted searching for them.
Even so, if it’s possible to have the light returned and the guardian found a way, not all was lost then. If they have that knowledge then that could mean there’s still a chance to turn all of this around. A spark of hope ignites within her chest as Ikora basks in the familiar sense of that background hum of light coming off the guardian, although a part of it seems a little… Changed.
What that could mean she doesn’t know nor have the wisdom at this present moment to determine. But what it did mean was in her mind a turning point as Ikora addresses the guardian, confiding in them her concerns while still sticking to the wisdom of their faith in the light. And she considers the reappearance of the guardian before her as a sign of that wisdom being true.
#ikoraweek2024#ikora rey#destiny 2#y'know i'm not sure if i super stuck to the prompts but i thought that moment in red war#when the guardian shows back up to ikora on io right after everything would be considerable to her#esp showing back up with the light again and a reaffirmation of ikora's belief in the light#and i like the idea that guardians and their light is something both detectable by sense from other light bearers#as well as uniquely shaped to each guardian#anyway scratched my head over this prompt all day so i hope it fits well enough#void.write#void.txt

idk if someone has already asked this but- any ink centric fics? :)
Howdy, thanks for asking! Here are some fics that might fit what you're looking for!
For the Forgotten Ones by Im_Sorry_Buddy (Not Rated, Complete)
A great source of despair draws Nightmare to an abandoned AU. There he finds an unfinished Sans with no name, no companions, no purpose, no world, and a soul. Nightmare gives him the option to get out of his abandoned, empty world. He accepts the offer but refuses to destroy anything or hurt people. Instead he finds another purpose. In return the Bad Sanses give him a home, companions, a life, and a name. They call him Ink. Or: Before he can destroy his soul and enter the Doodle Sphere, Ink is recruited by Nightmare. He accepts his role as best he can, even if he sometimes feels like he is meant for something more.
Spilled Ink by Im_Sorry_Buddy (Mature, Incomplete)
It has been one month since fifty AUs were DELETEd without explanation. Ink is summoned to Blue’s AU by an emergency call and fears the worst. When he arrives, the AU is safe and Blue, Core, and Dream convince him to stay for a while. They were not the only ones waiting for him. Ink's brother is so happy to see him. Everyone else? Not so much. S̶͔̄o̵͎͊o̴͉͂n̴͎͒ ̷̠̄ï̷̠t̷̜̊ ̵̳̀ẅ̸̩́i̵̻̊l̵̖͗l̷̹̎ ̷̢̕b̴͓̔e̴̜̽ ̷̳͝ṯ̸̐í̷̹m̷̙̎ě̷̫ ̸͚͒t̸͇̕ǒ̶͜ ̵̻͠b̴̅͜r̸̙͊i̸̪͂n̷̗̂ġ̷̬ ̴̡̒t̵͓̏r̴̢͒u̶̲̒ẻ̶͉ ̶̪̋"̸̢͠j̶̘̃u̷͒͜s̶͍̊t̴̢͘i̶̘̇c̸̗̑e̴͕͘"̵̢̈ ̶̰͝t̷͙̏õ̴̤ ̷͇̀t̷̫̂h̶͚̏ḙ̴͊ ̸͔͂M̸̜͠u̴͚̒l̸̲̈ṫ̶̯i̴̛̪v̷̰̿ē̶̳r̶̮̒s̷͎̍e̶̯̿.̷̮̄
Perseverance by PastelAspirations (Not Rated, Incomplete)
"In this world, perseverance is the most reliable thing you can have." The king wearily laughed. Ink stared at him as he tried to comprehend the words. Perseverance? Although it made sense, it only seemed to contribute to his rising alarm. How could he possibly thrive if perseverance was the most reliable aspect someone could have; an aspect he woefully lacked? (My very own AU idea. I suck at titles. And creativity. Took me forever to finally come up with a title and I'm still unsure about it. I hope you enjoy the story anyway, despite all the problems. Also, I am a veeery slow writer, so please keep in mind updates will be slow. Most of the characters go to their respective owners.)
Where It Began by mazymay12 (Teen And Up, Incomplete)
The unexpected always tends to happen. Life's full of twists and turns, constantly surprising us with new found abilities, experiences, problems... The best any of us can do is hope we are prepared for what happens. Ink always thought he'd be ready for anything, but a little mix up with Error and magic proves him very, very wrong. Updates should happen every Tuesday, but there isn't any promises right now.
Guardian Angel by Lunalalune (Mature, Complete)
"Ink sighed long, his back arched while he watched with a dull eye the field of echo flowers in front of him. He was desperate, desperate by his constant fails, his flirting attempts for Error that didn't lead to anything. Seriously, why couldn't the Destructor just accept his advances?" === Error doesn't want Ink, Killer wants to break up with Nightmare, and in this storm of emotions the painter and the guardian agree on one thing: if they're going to be alone, they might as well be together. Errink / NightKiller / InkMare !

Whenever I Want You, All I Have To Do Is Dream
isn't that rüya? i hear that they're the sandman from rise of the guardians. i hear they're age is unknown but appear in their thirties. they seem to be creative & peaceful, but also somniferous and intrusive. their aesthetics include grains of sand on skin that glitter in the light, golds in attire and accessory, the sounds of gentle snoring.
Name: Rüya
Other Aliases: The Sandman // Sandy // Dream
Face Claim: Berk Cankat
Age: Undetermined
Height: 6’
Sexuality: Homosexual
Gender & Pronouns: CIS Male & He/Him
Character: The Sandman
Original Tale: Rise of the Guardians
Alignment: True Neutral
Position: Bottom
Bio
There isn't much to say about Rüya, as his existence only served one real purpose.
Before anything, there was simply dust floating through the nothingness, until life came into existence, then consciousness, and shortly after that, from the very same dust, Rüya was manifested. The first time a living creature closed its eyes to rest, he was there, watching their thoughts play out, their hopes manifested in a visual form, their...dreams. Yes, that was a good word.
As creatures evolved, and humanity evolved, so did their dreams, and Rüya was there to oversee and collect them all, record them and pass them on over generations, helping civilisations to progress. Of course, the more complex peoples dreams became, the more fears and nightmares could manifest, something that Rüya spent just as much time battling, hoping to stop it manifesting into something worse.
Much of his existence consisted of that, being an entity, a legend, observing from a far as well as from within the subconscious, but rare instances would draw him in. A human, a star being, stationed away from the rest, lonely, surrounded by nightmares and fear drew Rüya's attention. He visited nightly, when those fears were at their worst and kept the human company, but despite everything, his own fears came to fruition.
Dreams were meant to encourage, but nightmares swooped in and manipulated, and the unassuming person became the "something worse" that Rüya had been worried about. He blamed himself for the incident, not stepping in enough when he could have, so he once again returned to observing from afar, falling silent to those that knew him, wracked with guilt over something he thought he could have stopped.
In recent years, he's found something new to keep himself busy with, considering himself the perfect candidate to watch over those imbued with sleeping curses. While he can't wake them, he was more than happy to keep them company in their dreams and guard their bodies in the physical realm.
He failed once before, and he would not fail again.
—
Left this kind of intentionally vague, because there isn't much I could think of aside the absolute basics of a character like this. But I'm playing it where he's suddenly got a more invested interest in the mortal world and the various realms considering the influx of sleeping curses that are in use. People are interfering with and influencing his business so he wants to know more about that.

Going back to when I made some self-ship drawings last Sunday, I decided to do a self-ship meme after seeing one by @candyheartedchy with my top fictional crushes as follows:
Anna x Mikey (Nickelodeon’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2012) - Lovable Dorks
As one of my biggest fictional crushes, Mikey and I have a few things in common, like pizza, video games, a sweet tooth, a love for cats AND we enjoy having fun with our friends and loved ones! Plus, he's one of the funniest and cutest ninja turtles out of all four of the brothers.
Anna x Arthur “Artie” Pendragon (Shrek the Third) - Awkward Boy and Friendly Girl
Of course, not everyone agrees with Shrek the Third being a bad movie in the Shrek franchise since I find it a guilty pleasure not only because I love seeing Fiona with the princesses, but also because of my childhood crush on teenage Arthur “Artie” Pendragon. Yeah, I know how awkward he is, but that’s one of the qualities I like in my perfect man.
Anna x Greg Heffley (Diary of a Wimpy Kid) - Platonic Pining
Ever since I read the Diary of a Wimpy Kid books during my childhood well into my college years, Greg Heffley and I go way back when my mom got me the fifth book, called The Ugly Truth and because I could relate so much to him, I got more of the books and even the 3-movie collection on DVD for my 19th birthday last year. But since the books as a whole mostly targets kids, the pining is platonic just to keep the relationship clean and family-friendly.
Anna x Corky (Snorks) - Height Difference
I love most of the Snorks characters all the same like Allstar, Casey, Dimmy, Daffney, Tooter, Junior, Dr. Gallio, Jo-Jo and especially Corky as another fictional crush. But since he’s no bigger than my thumb, he would be covered in loads of lip gloss when I shower him with kisses. Nonetheless, though, I love him for his courage and heart of gold.
Anna x Tin Man (The Wizard of Oz) - Tragic Past x Ray of Light
Because of how big his heart is, the Tin Man is always there to help me feel better when I’m not feeling good. But since he cries easily due to his sensitive nature and especially when he used to be human back before he became the Tin Man, I would return the favor by comforting him, which makes us the emotional support duo.
Anna x Fly (Help! I’m A Fish/A Fish Tale) - Friends to Lovers
Since I enjoyed watching Help! I’m A Fish/A Fish Tale as a kid loads of times, Fly, Stella, Chuck, Sasha and Professor MacKrill have been my favorite characters from the movie and just like all the other fans of this flick, I especially liked Fly and we’d fairly get along if I were in his neighborhood before crushing on him as he accepts my crush on him.
Anna x Balan (Balan Wonderworld) - Theatrical Duo
While Balan Wonderworld wasn’t exactly the best video game of 2021, Balan himself was another dude I had a huge crush on. He’s very charismatic, dramatic, playful and funny. Not to mention that we both love musical theater as a common interest and there’s a mutual respect between the two of us and his Tims since he’s incredibly gentle.
Anna x Balthazar (The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part) - Flirty Femboy and Blushing Beauty
Ever since The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part came out when I was 14 years old, I felt my heart skipping a beat hearing the soothing sound of Balthazar’s voice and mentioning that he’s an attractive, non-threatening teen vampire, plus he wears makeup and mom jeans and enjoys music. He’s one flirty femboy, which is seriously making me blush.
Anna x Jack Frost (Rise of the Guardians) - Winter Twins
Going back to when I watched DreamWorks’ Rise of the Guardians on Netflix, Jack Frost, the Guardian of Fun by all means, just had to be one of my next big fictional crushes. He’s playful, just like me and we both have winter birthdays, despite being born in separate months.

The Day of Judgement: part 3
The wave of pain that accompanies the Seal's activation fades quickly, but the surge of power it brings does not. His skin seems alive with electricity as he drags himself back to his feet, staring down his opponent with a new, intense fire burning in his red violet eyes.
A smirk splits his face as he watches the crystal prison fall from around his Dragon Knight. But that expression quickly fades as the great dragon she rides disappears below her, leaving the Dark Magician Girl standing alone on the field. "What the hell--?!" the Other Yugi gasps in surprise.
Across the mesa, Raphael laughs.
"Didn't you know?" the Musketeer chides. "The Seal of Orichalcos and those Legendary Dragons are polar opposites. Light and dark, oil and water. They can't coexist. But don't you feel freer, Pharaoh?"
The Other Yugi's fierce eyes narrow.
"I can still play up to ten monsters now. You're going to regret giving me that card, Raphael," he growls, in a low, chilling voice that he hasn't used in so, so long. The same cold tone he spoke in before he found himself, when all he knew were Shadow Games.
He plays Hand Control, a card that allows him to bring back four monsters from his graveyard if he can just name a card in his opponent's hand. And of course he can-- he's the one who gave Raphael the Necromancy card he holds now.
This is it, the Other Yugi thinks, wild pride flashing in his eyes. He can win this. He can seal Raphael's soul instead. It'll be all over then, all of the plans of this so called Doma. He'll never have to use the Seal again, but he just has to win this first--
Their Duel resumes, and seems to do so in the Pharoah's favor. He attacks with Kuribabylon and Dark Magician. His second attack is negated, but he doesn't seem to waver. Though Raphael plays Swords of Revealing Light, Ither Yugi is undeterred. Using Catapult Turtle, he doesn't need to attack. He can sacrifice his other monsters to chip away at Raphael's lifepoints directly. One by one, turn after turn, his field is cleared. Monster after monster is hurtled at the enemy, bringing his lifepoints down to a measly 100.
But as his turn begins, Raphael laughs. The Other Yugi scowls.
"I told you that the Seal would reveal the truth," Raphael says. "So look at it! This is the truth of your soul, Nameless Pharaoh. Wicked, greedy, violent, and proud. You're trapped by your need to win, and your fear of losing."
"What did you say?" growls the Other Yugi. "From where I'm standing, you look like the one who's trapped, Raphael."
There's that annoying, condescending look of pity again.
"Look at your field, Pharaoh. Look at your precious monsters. Look at what you've done to your cute Kuribohs. To your Dark Magician Girl. Throwing their lives away for a reckless charge at victory?"
Suddenly, the Other Yugi's intense stare breaks. His stomach drops, and his chest burns.
This isn't right.
This isn't him.
"Your lust for power destroyed the one monster I truly feared. But you sealed your fate the second you chose the Seal over Timaeus."
The Other Yugi, the Nameless Pharaoh, tries to call out inside his heart. To reach the Partner he'd pushed away, to open the door he'd locked to shut him out. But he can't reach him. Can't hear Yugi's voice. Can't feel his love inside their heart.
Raphael draws, then plays two cards.
Lightning cracks overhead as his ace monster, Guardian Eatos, appears on the field, their massive, white wings outstretched. The Guardian raises a hand, and a spectacular Celestial Sword appears.
There's nothing that the Other Yugi can do but watch in horror as every monster he had so recklessly sent to his graveyard emerges now, pulled into that Sword, that glows and grows with every added beast.
"No... No..." the Pharaoh repeats, over and over, as he watches in dread. The Guardian's attack rises with each unfortunate soul it absorbs, until the monster that faces him now stands with 10,000 attack points.
"You did this. You used your monsters and threw them away with no regard."
"I didn't want this-""
"You rushed every turn of this Duel for the sake of what, your pride?""
"Don't LOOK at me like that!!!!"
But Raphael still holds that same look of pity as he stares down at the smaller man.
Then, he attacks.
And it's more than enough to destroy both Other Yugi's Kuribabylon, along with his lifepoints.
------
------
Somewhere deep, deep inside their soul, Yugi screams. The real Yugi, locked out of his own body by the Other Self he's trusted for so long.
This can't happen!
He can't let this happen!!!!
He was supposed to protect the God Cards, and he'd failed.
He could hold his Other Self back from killing Kaiba, but he couldn't stop him this time.
All he could do was watch in horror from the void between their rooms. The little silent duelist, screaming now, over and over, to a locked and heavy vaulted door, sealed in glowing blue light.
His screams turn to choked sobs.
His sobs slow, as the sound of his Other Self echoes through the void.
He can't feel sorry for himself now. He can't let him down again.
Maybe this is another puzzle. Maybe there's some way to break the Seal.
He remembers the last Duel, when Joey faced their old friend Mai. When that other Musketeer interrupted, breaking through the Seal of Orichalcos with that tiny stone he wore. He reaches for his neck, but that stone that his body wears isn't here, inside his Heart.
Desperately, Yugi takes the Puzzle in both hands, and raises it over his head. He screams, summons all the strength in his little body to drive the bottom point into the Seal that keeps him from his Other Half. Over, and over, and over. Relentlessly, as if his heart and soul depend on it.
Even as the heavy, stone door begins to crack.
------
------
On the Mesa, the Hero falls to his knees. His lifepoints at zero, the Duel decided.
The King of Games, undefeated no longer.

ROUND THREE
ROCK LEE vs HYUUGA NEJI
Who doesn’t like frogs
inspired Sasuke
fights are always entertaining, they’re very well choreographed
he forgave Gaara for nearly killing him and nearly ending his dreams; he was never even mad at him
Rock Lee vs Sasuke was iconic
his heart is so full of love
never did anything wrong
had a squirrel befriend him
hard worker
good friend
rises to any challenge
when he does diss people they are the most brutal yet entertaining disses you ever hear
positive, weirdo, energetic, enthusiastic, joyful, chivalrous, motivated, dedicated, sweet
Lee and Neji had something homosexual going on
YOUTH !!!!
Neji
very tragic character
has so many layers
has a great arc (if you ignore the. yknow)
the eye imagery is very good
the inherent queerness of rebellion
carried the Hyuuga clan
awesome hair
disrecpected by the narrative
could've easily been a revolutionanist if the mangaka wasn't a coward
