𝐢. i’ve lived on three continents so far: north america, europe, and oceania.  my father worked in military/government so i spent most of my childhood outside my country in germany and the marshall islands.  that led to a lot of traveling, so i’ve been to most of the major cities in europe and a lot of the historical sites in the west and north.  i sadly never learned much marshallese but i’m semi fluent in german, though good luck with my written grammar.

𝐢𝐢. i’m a weather nerd.  as i write this, hurricane ian has made landfall in florida and i’m watching a live feed from storm chasers.  since childhood, especially after riding out some tropical storms and a few tornado warnings, i’ve had a small obsession with how weather works and the people who study it.  if i hadn’t had such an interest in history (and later international relations) long before this, i might’ve veered toward meteorology.  with my dad being from tornado alley, i’ve actually always wanted to be a storm chaser, and now that i live in the heart of it, maybe someday i’ll meet some experienced chasers and actually get to ride along.

𝐢𝐢𝐢. i’m partly persian. i feel like this is something most of the people i speak to on here know about and i’ve mentioned it here and there in tags, but if you haven’t seen that, hej, hi, dorood. my mom actually spent some of her childhood in iran before the revolution and my grandfather is one of the many who had to flee during.  since we’ve had a lot of estrangement from that part of the family, i unfortunately don’t know a lot of farsi, but i’m still very connected to that culture thanks to the efforts of my grandma and mom.  especially the food.  goodness, i love the food.

i’m a bit more of a recent rper. i discovered it was a thing entirely on accident in 2016 and threw myself into a fandom with an oc i still write.  she’s fandomless nowadays but for a good year or so i stuck with only her.  i branched out into canons: doctor who, star wars, musicals, marvel, historical fiction, etc.  jaina solo was my first star wars muse, the one that will forever be my favorite and dearest to my heart.  now, i’m mostly historical based ocs and star wars characters, but i’ve eyed returning to a few older blogs recently.

listen, as much as some of my favorite characters are villains, when it comes to muses, i tend to skew heroic for canons and just normal people trying to do good/survive in the world for ocs.  and heavily female.  so so so heavily female.

— 𝐒𝐔𝐁-𝐆𝐄𝐍𝐑𝐄𝐒

𝐅𝐋𝐔𝐅𝐅: is sweet, is lovely, but i do like when it’s mixed in with other things.  rarely are moments in life purely fluff, so truly just those things tend to be rare from me.  however, especially as i have a penchant for kind/sweet even muses, there usually is some element of fluff somewhere in my interactions with people, if not a decent amount with people they care about.  and you know, interjecting that with muses who definitely not fluff prone at all, when appropriate, makes me grin manically.

𝐒𝐌𝐔𝐓: i rarely do it, mostly because i don’t see the point with how it often goes down.  most of the time when i get to write it, it very much ends up centers around the actions and just the actions, even if i try to start it in a broader lens.  it just feels gratuitous very quickly.  i’m not a huge fan of sex scenes in film and book already so after several times of it feeling like those, i just feel very meh about it.  i wouldn’t mind getting to write it again, but not if it feels just like a pwp fic.

𝐀𝐍𝐆𝐒𝐓: my bread and butter.  i usually end up writing in fandoms and verses where angst is a major part of the story, so it’s a huge portion of my writing.  plus, especially with my kinder, sweeter muses, i like to explore what makes them upset, angry, what makes them ready to throw hands, if anything.  what sends me into the stratosphere though is angst within familial and romantic relationships.  give me conflict between people who love or will grow to love each other.  it’s very satisfying.

i 100% take both, and with the latter, i very much appreciate not having to work off of nothing like with non-plotted starter calls, but i’ll be honest, i really like plotting.  it doesn’t have to be much, but whether a starter or meme, even if i have a very solid idea in mind, i usually like to check in and see if that’s fine/build on the idea a little to make sure it’ll work.  even once i really know how someone ticks with their writing style and muse, i still prefer to do it since it alleviates my mostly unfounded anxiety about people not liking what they receive.  when it comes to beyond beginnings, it really makes me happy to plot, especially because the likelihood of me getting to every aspect and every possibility is slim.  plotting helps cover those holes in development even if it doesn’t get used.  but hey, if something just continues smoothly without input except maybe some yelling over how we love it, i’m 100% fine with that as well.

(In order to take a small break + talk about the stories in fiction form to qualify for the challenge, FFXIV Write Extra Credit days will be a modern AU where the charas from the last batch of stories are actors at a round table interview. Obviously it’s all indie, who’d cast these chaotic clowns for a blockbuster?)

Ireul: *looks into phone camera* Lali-ho Eorzea, today I'm going to take you on a set tour of 'Thunderous'! One day only, so strap up and let's rock!

[Ireul sneaks up to a door, turns to the camera and does a shushing gesture. The camera peeks into a lounge area with takeaway bentos and four people - A female Lalafell, a male Miqo'te, a male Xaela Au Ra, and a male Midlander Hyur are sitting on couches and chatting. The female Lalafell is on a beanbag opening a can of coke and waving to the camera.]

Ireul: So from left to right we have my fellow cast members: Jijidoa, Pront, Amasar, and Danny! Danny's the guy with the talking sword, and here's a secret: he voices the sword too! *point camera* Hey Danny, can you give our viewers a demonstration?

[Danny cocks an eyebrow at the camera, says nothing but picks up his sword, puts it in front of him to hide his face, and delivers his lines in a falsetto.]

Danny: "My master keeps running into danger because he is HERO! Oh no!"

[Danny gives Jijidoa a high five and waves.]

[Ireul enters the makeup room where a rather muscular-looking elderly man is having beard extensions attached. The artificial beard looks soft and is very, very long - so long that the man is sitting on an elevated chair, his feet dangling above the ground.]

Ireul: Heeeere's the star of the show, Ramuh-sensei! Ramuh-sensei is actually a very experienced actor and stuntman, he's been acting since 1990! *whispers into camera* I was only a kid back then. As you can see, the beard is obviously not real, and they'll suspend him on a crane for the battle scene. Even though it's not real hair, it's held in place by reaaaaally soft wires to give the flowy effect. *bows* Please look forward to it!

Ireul: Bet you thought this was all green screen huh? Our director actually wanted a more authentic feel so they decided to reproduce the set from original accounts from past Warriors of Light. Say, I feel like someone's watching me...

[Ulfrid jumps into the camera shouting, "SURPRISE TICKLE!!!" Ireul screams and drops the camera. It falls to the ground lens first, and the scene goes black.]

why is this called revamp? for all purposes it's a brand new site?? i don't imagine ppl can just revamp nationalities and cultures flippity flop. would i reserve here or just go on big easy and start my character?? i'm very confused

TBE as a site is formed by its members, the community they formed, the characters and relationships they have. We chose to call it a revamp as we are keeping our member base, our rules, our community, our history! We completely agree, nationality and culture are important aspects of a character that we do not want to downplay or erase. However, we first and foremost want to make this space a safe one for writers of all backgrounds where they can escape to. We are aware that the members went to incredible lengths to help us revamp, rethink their characters, and improve the site and we are beyond grateful! You could look at it through the lens of an rper that has a favourite muse - when the site dies and the rper moves to another site they revamp nationality and culture to fit the character to another location! We’re going to be honest with you anon, we started this just looking to have fun and see if other members wanted to come have fun with us too! We decided, to add a little more structure in. Right now, until our opening date the site is private. No one can join. You can make your reserves here and we’ll be starting a site buzz in the lead up with both old members and new members can enjoy!

Lord, we’ve know each other for a minute and a half now. I wasn’t sure if we would be friends at first, but after years of grinding, sending memes, and using my own tears as lube, and saying “hi” randomly, we actually became pretty good friends and that makes me all happy inside.  You’re made of sturdier stuff than most people I know and you are truly, honestly, wholly good to all the people you call friends (don’t @ me).  We talk, meme, and cry, sometimes all at the same time.  On top of all of this, you’re a terrific writer/RPer and create some incredible stories.  Before I start just babbling here, I’ll tie this all together by saying that I’m very glad we’re friends :)

okay well since mac did this for me yesterday when I really needed it, I decided to go ahead and do it for him because I want to make him as happy as he made me. some asshole accused him of being super fake with that post so like idk i hope this is a way to prove that we are both very genuine, very very sappy people. 

so!!! without further ado, the things I love about mac / @losingsiide:::::::

MAC && SHERLOCK         mac denies that he’s the best sherlock out there so like ok I wont argue but you know what he is???? completely in tune with sherlock and everything about him. to be fair i dont write/talk with that many other sherlocks but thats because once i found mac, i didnt feel like i needed to. i made mycroft’s blog mainly to explore the relationship between him and sherlock, so i expected to need to write with a lot of them to get the full range. after all, everyone has the things they’re best at writing in a character. but somehow mac was good at everything?? and I just get everything I could ever want in a holmes brother interaction from him. it’s so rare and so special to find an rper whose writing you just connect with so well-- i’ve never found another person whose headcanons line up with mine so perfectly (in rp or otherwise), and we??? don’t even write threads that much but it feels like we do, it feels like we write together all the time and have developed so much because we come to the other with headcanons nearly every day (usually childhood ones but it could be anything) and we just. talk about their relationship.

       and then there’s just the fact that sometimes i cant separate mac and sherlock in my head like if im mycroft irl, then mac is sherlock and in all the best ways it it makes me so happy but now im getting off of the character thing and into the mac as a person thing so lets just go there

MAC && HIMSELF           ok so listen. listen. mac came into my life i guess about a month ago, just under. the past month has been a really dark time for me, i’ve had a lot going on, stuff i neednt go into here. and meeting mac is one of the best things to happen to me. his friendship is something i value above most other things. you know how your closest friends sometimes appear really fast out of nowhere?? thats the case with mac i think. he’s like a little brother to me, maybe its the mycroft & sherlock thing, idk, but i admire him for so many reasons that ok are kinda personal and i think he knows them but yeah. thats a thing. 

         so like mac doesnt know im doing this. but as i type this, he’s sending me pictures of art he did that he doesnt think its all that good but I think its amazing and he’s told me about his favorite songs and i honestly think that because art in all forms is a lens into a person’s soul, i’m getting to know him so well beyond rp and what we talk about in conversation just through that alone and its really special. and i’ve told mac things that no one else knows. not people here, not my other friends, not my parents. just him. the only other person i might tell is this one actor in cats and we’ll see how that goes lmao.

        right and also god he knows how to cheer someone up. he’s the best listener and he will fight anyone for you and he just. can make you feel so important and loved and he doesnt even try he’s like 100% genuine all the time and i dont know how someone like that can exist but he does and his name is mac and ok i’ve never been so grateful for someone in my life ever. fuck yeah.

         and man okay i can make friends pretty easily if theyre friends online because im a better writer than i am speaker and man i can socialize like hell over the internet. but even the people i consider really close friends who i know mainly online, i dont form deep emotional connections with most of them, or easily. but mac. for some fucking reason man, i feel like we’re idk spiritually connected or some shit. its weird. and like honestly i would do anything for him. like i would straight up drop whatever i was doing to help him if he needed it bc he means that much to me, man when i  find people i love i latch onto them and that’s what’s happening here. 

      && finally i just have to say that he’s a fucking NERD who likes SPACE and the first thing im gonna do when i hopefully meet him this summer is throw a POTATO at his fucking FACE and then hug him for 5 hours straight ok bye hayden out
