Since it's the wintery season, I thought I'd suggest something somewhat fitting: I've always sorta thought Blake would hate/fear snow because of what happened to him on Mt. Silver, so how about a Reader x Blake where Reader tries to help him with his fear of snow by just like taking him out in front of their house after a light snowfall (or during one, if he feels okay enough to try)?
For many, the sight of light snowfall on a cool winter's night would bring happiness and joy, especially during the Christmas season. People and Pokémon alike would be out enjoying the weather, along with all the decorations Johto had to offer.
But for one trainer in particular..the sight only filled him with dread and anxiety.
Just looking at a single falling snowflake was enough to make him feel sick to his stomach, wanting to hide away from the world. And that’s exactly what he ended up doing when he visited your house.
He brought his whole Pokémon team over to help you decorate. He was going to finish helping you set up the tree.
Though after it suddenly began snowing outside, he panicked and retreated into your shared bedroom with Typhlosion.
For hours, he remained huddled there, curtains drawn and the lights off. Nothing but his starter’s gently flickering flames illuminated him, keeping him warm while he rested by his bedside.
But even with that and all the blankets..it didn’t feel like enough for Blake.
He was still shivering, recalling how he felt this exact same way atop Mt. Silver.
Despite all the therapy, sleep didn’t come for him easily. He was far too scared to even close his eyes, fearing he’ll wind up back there--with his entire team dead and Typhlosion barely able to keep himself alive.
It definitely would have been the worst nightmare he’s ever had: thinking that you saved him and he recovered from the horrors after a few long months, only to find out it was all just a figment of his imagination.
Dying cold and alone in the snow after having this much hope would have been the cruelest reality.
Yet...part of him felt guilty for thinking such things.
He knew you saved him. He knew he was getting better. He knew this situation he was in right now was real.
He should be out there with you, decorating and enjoying the season like any normal boyfriend would.
But here he was, the once confident and cocky Blake Gold--now a coward who’s afraid of a tiny snowflake. You probably thought he was a real loser for basically ditching you and the festivities.
However, you understood his fears. And you didn’t wanna push him to come out if he wasn’t ready yet.
Though..the longer you spent decorating the tree with his Pidgeot, some Unowns, and Tyranitar, you wondered if it was healthy for him to stay in that dark room for hours on end. It was already nighttime and he still hadn’t come out. Not even for food.
You wanted him to be surprised and give him something to smile about. So you added some pizzazz to the tree: with plushies and ornaments made of glass and plastic that the markets were selling. You even had a little tribute to Articuno in the corner, hoping it would keep the blizzards at bay.
Not only for the town’s sake, but also Blake’s.
Speaking of whom, you decided to check on him after Tyranitar put the star (of course, shaped like a Shiny Staryu) up. You wanted him to see the finished product, so you headed down to the room.
You gently knocked, hearing him say you could come in. But upon opening the door, you felt like you just walked into a dark cave; though luckily you didn’t need Flash in this case, as Typhlosion’s fire was enough for you to see your boyfriend’s exhausted state.
Forcing a light smile, you knelt beside the bed. “Hey, honey. We finished the tree if you wanna come see it.”
“....awh man, really? I was gonna help..” Blake pouted, although that convinced him to sit up. He kept the blanket around himself as he reached for his hat, hiding his messy bedhead. “I’m sorry.”
“It’s alright. We can add more stuff to it together.”
Nodding, he mustered up the strength to get out of bed. Alongside Typhlosion, he followed you back into the living room, finally seeing the tree lit up.
But while his fire-type smiled fondly, Blake’s attention was instantly on the outside world--and the persistent snowfall. It was a lot lighter now, but it didn’t make him feel any better.
In fact, he could only feel worse the longer he stared out the window.
Yet..it was so hard to look away.
He felt stupid for being so scared. It seemed so childish, though that tightness in his chest told him otherwise, as it hit him so hard he nearly forgot how to breathe.
It was suffocating.
“I know your Pokémon aren’t interior designers, but they did--Blake? Blake, honey?”
Feeling your hand taking his own, he gasped rather suddenly, not even realizing he refused to breathe a few seconds ago. And it made him cough as he turned away from the window, dissolving into small gasps amid his fit of panic. You helped him sit down on the couch, rubbing circles into his back as you led him through some breathing exercises, comforting him through it all.
“Shh, it’s okay..it’s alright. I got you. You’re okay, you’re safe.” You soothed. He just shuddered in response, head buried into your shoulder as his prosthetic arm wrapped around you tightly.
A few sobs escaped him during that time, though within a few minutes he had calmed down a little bit. His shoulders slumped with newfound exhaustion, hating the fact that he was still feeling this way.
He wanted to tell you what a great job you did on the tree. But his fears wouldn’t even allow him to do that.
“M-Maybe I should go back to my room..” He was close to crying, wondering why you put up with him.
“You can’t spend Christmas locked away in there.” You gently insisted. “I’m sorry, I should’ve closed those blinds-”
“Y-You shouldn’t have to do that for me.” Shaking his head, he sniffled and looked up at you. “I don’t wanna feel like this anymore..it’s hell, [y/n]. I wanna enjoy the snow with you and...a-and remember it’s not all scary and stuff.”
You were surprise he admitted to wanting to see the snow, but that gave you an idea that just might help him slowly conquer his fears. “Maybe..we can do that.”
“What..do you mean?”
“You wanna try watching it through the window?”
At first, his eyes widened at the mere suggestion. But you added onto that, hoping he’ll at least try it. Just this once.
“I mean we can look at it together for a few seconds. I’ll be right beside you, and Typhlosion’s welcomed to come along if he wants.”
“Typhlo..!”
"That’s right.” You looked at the Volcano Pokemon, smiling softly. “You know we both won’t let anything happen to you, Blake. But it’s up to you.”
Blake was silent for a few moments, internally debating on whether he was up for this task. But he agreed, not wanting this phobia to rule over his life more than it already did.
After seeing his nod, you took his hand and stood up together, heading over to the window. Typhlosion remained close by his master’s side, leaning his head against his leg.
You could see Blake’s hesitance, given his eyes remained downcast. “I got you. Whenever you’re ready.”
“...a-alright, here goes nothing.”
Finally, he bravely looked out the window. That familiar panicked feeling was coming back, though you squeezed his hand to assure him everything was okay. And the more he looked....the more he realized you were right.
It was quite beautiful out. With all the lights and the snowfall gently coming down, blanketing the ground in white. He could even see a few ice-types in the streets, including a Swinub digging its nose in the dirt.
His mind would normally tell him it was in distress, about to be overcome with frostbite, yet it looked quite happy as a few other Swinubs joined it in their search for food.
"Y-You..see that pack of Swinub looking for food? It’s cute.” A small chuckle left him, though he decided that was enough and looked away from the window. A shaky exhale escaped him next, but he didn’t feel his heart hammering against his chest like before.
You could see that he enjoyed it, too, and smiled, kissing his cheek. “Yeah, it was. I’m proud of you, hun.”
“Th-Thanks.” With a smile of his own, he let go of your hand so you could close the blinds. “Maybe tomorrow I’ll..try stepping outside. Maybe.”
“Sounds like a plan.”
Satisfied, you both walked away from the window. And you showed him the Christmas tree and all its holiday glory, making him smile grow even more.
Maybe in time, he’ll learn not to fear the snow. Atop that mountain, it was a merciless, awful thing that forever changed his perception of it.
But he realized that down here...it was quite gentle.
And with you here to help him, hopefully he’ll start seeing the good in it again.

The updated list!
Stuff I want to see in Masters. Didn’t add new combos, just added more details.
N and Zoroark - Dark tech pair. Dark zone. Special sync, Dark Pulse special move but also Foul Play physical. Trainer move buffing both his attacks. If he doesn’t buff crit, it’s an excuse to use Piers and Obstagoon. Win-Win.
Piers and Toxitricity (Low Key Form) - Poison Special Strike. Give him the one ability that changes move types so he can have poison type Boomburst. Maybe an option for poison zone if they don’t give it to eventual Oleanna. Go Viral Toxic if you’re feeling adventurous.
Leon and Dragapult - Ignoring that another Leon might cause a revolt, I’d love this for Halloween. Honestly not too fussed about what he does.
Raihan and Goodra - Alright, we got the Flygon covering two of the weathers, now give me Dragon Support Goodra that can set rain please and thank you.
Volkner and Regieleki - Electric Support but like I want this to be flexible because of his other electric appearances. Give me something that buffs speed and something else and let it be gimmicky enough to flex off type.
Volkner and Galarian Zapdos - In a shift away from my previous one, I want this to be Fighting Tech. Physical sync, Fighting zone, Thunderous Kick with its guaranteed defense drop. Would be nice if they made it a two charge move since the fighters I use most are 3+.
Caitlyn and Espeon - Psychic Tech. I want big nuke. Ignore MewTwo submit to Espeon.
Grimsley and Galarian Moltres - I wanted big dark tech nuke but now Cyrus and Darkrai exists so. Uh. Dunno. Just think it’d be a fun pair.
Cheren and Ditto - Normal tech, something gimmicky.
Lana and Wishiwashi - Again why wasn’t this the base? Water Strike, not picky. Maybe give her some rain buffs to go with that rain setting Goodra mentioned above, heh.
Gladion and Umbreon - Dark support would be fun, since Umbreon is so bulky. Maybe another dark zone setter, if down the line they decide to release more for the same type. Perhaps another potion bot that can be someone I like more than Sidney (who I am in fact still incredibly salty about being the one to have Absol despite knowing it makes sense).
Riley and Lucario - Still waiting guys. Steel tech or support, please. Play to the variety from Korrina’s mega.
Wallace and Mespirit/Azelf/Uxie - Still have no explanation for this. Any combo would be fine. Maybe Dynamax for giggles. This one is just really out there.
Silver and Weavile - Ice Physical Strike. Give him all the crit gimmicks. All of them.
Bede and Galarian Rapidash - Listen I know he’s gonna have Hattrene or whatever but since I don’t like that thing I’d rather see big Fairy Tech rainbow horse. Our non-seasonal Fairy options are still uhhhhhhhh not ideal attackers (Sycamore being a fantastic tank more than DPS, Lillie’s support, and Valerie and Mina are a struggle).
Bede and Galarian Articuno - This is indulgent because both this Articuno and Bede feel like the kind of smug I’m-Better-Than-You types and I think it would be funny. Another one I’m not to picky on combo.
Roark and Dracovish - Actually narrowing down which fossil, this would just be so goddamn funny. I dunno what combo.
Honorable Mentions to the two that have come true from the original, Raihan and Flygon, Cynthia and Giratina
#pokemon masters#lots of purely theoretical#could’ve noted shinies too but honestly dunno which ones would be cool shiny#maybe that Wallace one so he can match Steven’s shiny Ray#kuri babbles

pokemon ask: all the odd numbers!
[cracks knuckles] okay. OKAY. this is LONG so this is going under a cut because this is gonna take a while.
1. favourite type?
ghost! there are just so many fun little gremlins and goblins i adore to shreds in the ghost type. electric and ice are a close second because aesthetic, but in the end ghost just barely edges them out.
3. favourite DUAL type
uhhh gotta be level with you i love it when shit gets grouped together with the /flying type. i could be entirely unimpressed with a fella and then i find out it's part flying and i'm like captain k'nuckles oohing over that fucking dog
5. favourite trainer
n...hello n. how are you and your complete character arc and sequel exploring the results of your character arc and etc. i adore you.
7. favourite gym leader
tate and liza! i remember them being an absurdly hard obstacle to my newbie ass the first time i played through ruby, and even back then i had already started adoring double battles as a thing. so seeing gym leaders go "here that's our thing now" made me go oooh.
also pokemon masters gives them some cute characterization! liza hanging out with guzma is a particular favourite character interaction of mine.
i also really, really love lenora. having a gym inside a museum/library is like, #goals. it's totally my aesthetic.
(also i don't know if we're allowed to count trial captains, but if we are, i'd also add nanu here. grumpy old man with five million cats and a sad cop backstory. also apparently a bad cop in the anime but that plotline went nowhere lmfao)
9. favourite elite 4 member
shauntal for being a literal ghostwriter. like. how do you beat that? love her. love that gal. pokemas has her mention that she's been friends with her chandelure since she was a little girl and it was a litwick, and she used to read and write by its candlelight at night, and that just immediately brought me back to my days of hiding under the sheets with a book and a flashlight. like. love her. love that gal. good for her and her mountain of ghost books.
11. favourite trial (sun & moon)
sophocles' trial in the original sumo games! not because of its format (quizzes are always boring) but how it's presented as a comedy of errors from this kid trying to do his best in the role that he's given. and of course, that final question that straight up breaks the fourth wall. like. please. i appreciate that humor. i was kinda sad that his trial got revamped in the ultra remakes, it lost a lot of its life and felt more like a standard gym challenge.
13. favourite antagonist team
i want to take team skull home and feed them and give them hugs. they're such dorks. they're just punks who lost their place in the world and trying to carve out their own niche, and that niche is TROUBLE. the little bits of when you can actually see them hurting just kinda kicks me in the nads.
15. favourite shiny pokemon
i mean it's my favourite pokemon in general, but flygon. it's just so bright, and neon-y! flygon is my flagship pokemon in general so the fact that its shiny is cute makes me very happy.
17. 3 favourite pokemon
flygon, dhelmise, sigilyph! flygon has always been my favourite since hoenn, it's my big dragonfly baby. sigilyph has always struck me as a very unusal flying pokemon and i adore how it's modeled after the nazca lines. and dhelmise is just so charming to me in how the actual pokemon is the faceless possessed lump of seaweed and everything else is just it deciding it wants to yeet ship parts at things. love it. you do you, king.
19. favourite pokemon game
the b/w series! i just really love the spritework, the life the region was given, the stories it had, the characters it built...10/10 would absolutely play again even though it does not need a remake but i will accept a port.
21. favourite legendary/mythical pokemon
oh this is hard. early baby me really loved articuno and suicine (it's where i got my handle from! i went by Northwind Gale on the serebii forums because of suicune being the north wind pokemon or something like that, and that just hung on until now im just the Gale y'all know today lmao). but a lot of legendaries are pretty damn cool now that ive grown! zekrom’s a big fave of mine too. big and black and blue electricty glowin’, the way that it appears to a traner filled with ideals, the entire lore behind it is just [chef’s kiss].
i kinda like zygarde as a concept, though. a legendary that isn't a singular entity, but rather made up of multiple hiveminded parts that have been scattered across the world to help observe its state of balance. it feels more like a force of nature than a physical being. a representation of what it embodies. it's cool. i appreciate that the anime played with that concept. (almost made up for the absolutely DISAPPOINTING bullshit they pulled with xerneas and yveltal tbh)
23. favourite music track from a pokemon game
oh lawdy. oh lord. god. okay. this is so fucking hard, actually. i fucking love pokemon music, it makes up half my playlist, please don't expect me to actually pick one.
from the main games: r/s/e's trainer school, route 113, gym leader and champion theme; b/w's box legendary, side legendary, black city, village bridge and ending theme; sumo's vs solageo/lunala; swsh's battle tower & gym theme
from the spinoff games: mystery dungeon 2's vs dialga; mystery dungeon 1's sky tower; pokemon ranger 3's vs pokemon pincher grunt; learn with pokemon typing adventure's boss theme; literally almost every fucking song on pokemon masters' ost, what the actual fuck is this thing on
that's off the top of my head! there's like, tons more in my playlist but if i went through that i'd be here all day
25. favourite design of a pokemon
again, dhelmise. it's just so funny. here's a floating steel anchor. it has a face. no it's not steel type. no it's not water type. it's a grass/ghost because the actual pokemon is the seaweed on its face fuck you. sumo really does bring a lot of my favourite "faceless entity has a mockup of a face or doesn't even bother trying" designs like mimikyu, xurkitree, stakataka, etc. i love it. give me more faceless pokemon gamefreak. i want them all.
27. overall favourite generation of pokemon
gen 5! it's not only the era of my favourite mainline games, it's also when we had a lot of fun ds sidegames (well, gen 5 and gen 4) like the pmd and ranger series. it just really felt like the end of an era, looking back, when they were just really pushing what spritework could bring, what the touch screen could do with gameplay. i love it. the fun pokemon designs are just a cherry on the cake.
29. favourite normal type
i've always had a soft spot for the zigzagoon line. they're small and fluffy and good. and thanks to middlest bro i appreciate furret as well. good long bois.
31. favourite fire type
i love...centiskorch. long fire bug. big boy. gets even bigger when gigantamax. all the cute fanart we get of kabu with the pre-evo makes me love it more.
33. favourite fighting type
the only reason i didn't put blaziken up in 31 was so i could put it down here instead. torchic (and hoenn in general) was the generation where my brothers and i started our starter picking tradition based on our faves (i would pick fire types, littlest bro picked grass types and middlest bro picked water). i love this little chicken, love that it grows up to be big kicky chicken. good for them.
35. favourite water type
pyukumuku! it is small, and round, and if it dislikes you it will disgorge its internal organs into the shape of a fist and punch your lights out, and that’s wonderful.
lapras has also been a long time favourite mainstay of mine as well, ever since we first got one from rescuing silph co back in gen 1! so gentle, so graceful. a wonderful being.
37. favourite flying type
corviknight! it is big, and terrifying, and oh so very helpful. i love the corviknight taxi as a thing, love that people just put themselves into stagecoach shaped birdcages and be carried around. it’s wonderful. corviknights are wonderful. i love my big feathery beast of a bird.
39. favourite grass type
you know it, you love it, it’s dhelmise! again! y’all wish you were as swag as these fellas
41. favourite poison type
gengar! because i love my ghosts, and i can only put so many ghosts into the favourite ghosts ask. but also one of my favourite epsides as a kid was the pokemon tower episode and watching these goofy little ghosts just wanna play with a kid, so they kill him by accident. and then they get to do ghost things. listen. ghosts are good. gengar is a big ghost friend. he deserves hugs. i bet he gives wonderful hugs. hug the giant poison cloud. do it.
43. favourite electric type
vikavolt! a giant six foot railgun beetle is a good and great friend! treasure it. luxray is also a good favourite of mine, mostly because of the x-ray eyes and yusei hair.
45. favourite ground type
mudsdale! it’s literally a giant clydesdale horse. what’s not to love. i also really love krookodlie. big old sandigator with sunglasses. absolutely dope. big ground boyes.
47. favourite rock type
so i’ve already mentioned stakataka. i love the idea of horrible little hivemind creatures becoming one big thing. it’s a bunch of blocks! with eyes! and each one is alive! and they’re all living and working together to become this terrifying eldritch behemoth of a wall! i love them! i also love the fossil mons cradily and armaldo and archeops. they’re such fun designs. even if i don’t ever usually use fossil mons in my playthrough because i usually have a full dedicated team by the time i unlock one, i love them very much.
49. favourite ice type
s...nom. i love them. thy are small, and round, and sound like jingle bells. this is partially middlest bro’s fault. he’s obsesed with them and that enthusiasm infected me. but really, snom is just so cute. . . .
i also really love crygonal! “gale it’s just an angry snowflake” yes but it’s my angry snowflake. i’m weak for geometric designs. leave me alone.
51. favourite bug type
galvantula is the greatest bug type of all time and if you don’t agree you can eat my bug lovin’ ass because oh my god. my baby. my baby tarantula. “tarantulas aren’t bugs gale” well pokemon gave it six legs so it’s technically not a spider RIGHT? anyways i loved my galvantula so much that when zekrom insisted on taking a spot on my team to fight N i said “no, fuck off, the galvantula stays” and i sent zekrom to the box. and i fought n on my own with no legendary. zekrom was weaker than my spider anyway it needs to git gud
(i’m sorry zekrom i love you too)
53. favourite dragon type
it’s. the baby. my baby. FLYGONNNNNNN. my number one forever and always. my partner for life the one that weathers the storms and stays by my side. aridsoptera my love i don’t care if gamefreak neglects you until the end of time and refuses to give you fun toys like megas or gigas or regional variants you will always be my number one
55. favourite ghost type
mimikyu my darling. hello my baby hello my darling hello my rag-wearin gal. what can i say about you that people haven’t already said? you’re perfect.
57. favourite dark type
absol! because i fell in love with it the moment i first ran into it in ruby and boy howdy did i spend many, many hours hunting one down after failing to catch the first one i found. the fact that it’s a misunderstood baby that just wants to warn people and gets blamed for shit instead makes me want to give it a hug.
59. favourite psychic type
sigilyph! like i mentioned before, i love its strange design, i love its cry, love its spritework, what else can i say.
61. favourite steel type
metagross! another hoenn mon that i fell in love with at first sight when steven caved my underlevleled ass in the first time i tried challenging the elite 4. it just looked so badass. and then that one trainer in the deoxys movie who looked like me and carried a laptop around just casually sends one out and i’m like !!!! it is a Sign. it is meant to be for me. there’s this fanart i love of some girl goign throu traffic while just casually lounging on her metagross on some kind of kotatsu or something, and man. life goals. i too want to have a metagross to ride on as i casually trawl the interwebs.
63. favourite fairy type
gardevior is, yet again, another hoenn mon that i fell in love with first sight when seeing another trainer use it for the first time. i straight up restarted ruby the first time i played after beating the champion, just so i could catch and use a ralts early game, so you know it was gonna be a fav for life. and it’s just. it’s never let me down. good defenses, terrifying special attack. and then it gained the fairy typing in gen 6 and became even more terrifying.
65. favourite pokemon movie
this is a bit of a hard call, but i’m going to say the keldeo movie! it tends to be pretty overlooked, as do many of the b/w movies, but it’s a fun little movie that focuses largely on keldeo’s growth as ash and co help try to protect it from the results of its own bad decisions. frankly, the bw movies in general did a really good job at making the focus legendaries their own characters with their own stories (admittedly the victini movie only made a start at it, but still) which really helped sell them as pokemon i would want to try and get a special event for?
as an aside, this is also why the newtwo movie is another one of my favourites. she’s written as a fairly compelling character in her own right without needing to lean on og mewtwo as a base, so like...the movie in general doesn’t deserve the hate it gets (if it still gets hate, i remember people backlashing pretty hard against the mewtwo shilling back then). i remember making a writeup about the differences between the two mewtwos ages ago, and i had an ENTIRE writeup on plurk after i actually watched the movie that i’m wiling to share if anyone wants to hear, but lmao this ask is getting so long already so.
67. favourite animated adaptation
i know people don’t like best wishes because of all the lost potential but listen. i like the bw anime and it’s still a favourite of mine to this day. it has lots of little gems in character interaction and animation that xy and sumo take and continue on with, so i genuinely think people don’t give it enough credit. yes, it has its failings, but so does every other season of pokemon.
69. favourite pokemon card
i. i don’t actually have any pokemon cards that i’ve ever collected so like. all th eold ones i had as a kid i barely remember, but i do remember having a blastoise that i really liked.
71. favourite pokemon tumblr blogs!
IM MAKING A CALLOUT POST ON MY TUMBLR DOT COM @scrawlers AND @wild-battlebond ARE BITCHASS MOTHERFUCKERS WHO TOOK OUT AGES OF MY LIFE. THAT’S RIGHT THEY TOOK OUT AGES OF MY LIFE. ENGAGING ME IN PRODUCTIVE, INTERESTING, ABSOLUTELY FASCINATING DISCOURSE AND CREATING WONDERFUL HEADCANONS
also @jadeazora deserves props for being an amazing source of news and updates! you’re doing thankless work that i’m sure many of us have come to take for granted, but bless you regardless.
73. favourite pokemon merchandise
so when i was a wee 90′s kid, and the local Lotte(tm) asian market still had an electronics section, there was this little pikachu alarm clock that i pestered my mom into buying for me. when it rang it would say “Good morning!” and then play the chorus bars of a song i didn’t recognize at the time, but would later come to know as Mezase Pokemon Master. i loved that clock. i loved it to bits. i would use it as a timer for fucking eveyrthing. i would set the alarm off on purpose so i could hum along to the song. even when the battery case started falling out and wouldn’t stay the fuck in. i ended up passing the clock down to middlest bro, and i think he might still have it around. i don’t know if the clock still works though. god i need to see if he still has it. i miss that clock.
75. a pokemon you feel is overrated
if i see another fucking sylveon merchandise i will strangle that fucking fairy fox with its own ribbons. i hate it. i fuckingng hate sylveon and its unnatural ribbonass face. why ribbons. surely you could make a fairy eeveelution look more natural than fuckin pastel flesh tentacle ribbons
77. favourite eeveelution
oh funny thing given the last ask uh. it’s umbreon. i love them. so sleek and wonderful. and the shiny is also peak beauty. a wonderful darling
and that’s a wrap! oh god sorry for the long wait THAT WAS A LONG ASK MY DEAR
#ask shenanigans#scrawlers#pokemon#gale shitposting#this took me a few hours over a few days to type hhhh#BUT THIS WAS FUN I LOVED IT THANK YOU

you know, in light of today's news, i really just wanna say that i genuinely think that this gen is my fave pokemon gen. pokemon swsh has introduced so many amazing concepts to pokemon. like, okay:
xp candies make working on my living dex a snap
dynamaxing is honestly way more fun than i ever thought it would be. it's a blast, especially with pokemon with gigantamax forms. and i love seeing the special dynamax moves. seeing my haunter doing max phantasm makes me want to cry tears of joy bc i love him so much and its the perfect move for him
raids are also hella fun, and a great way to get really powerful pokemon -- also wonderful bc this is the first time in a pokemon game where i feel like i get to actually team up with my friends instead of being against them. It's really nice
being able to access my pc box from anywhere is incredible. so is the ability to choose whether i want to add a pokemon to my party after i catch them or send them to the box
seeing pokemon before running into them is so cool. you're not really a pokemon trainer unless you've been madly chased down by a wild sneasel while sprinting away, those fuckers are fast as hell. and i love that there's still rustling grass as well for the occasional element of surprise.
cooking curry? i adore it, it's a lovely little mini-game, and it's great to be able to heal my pokemon almost anywhere without having to use up all my items. my currydex is almost complete, just waiting on one more ingredient from the ingredients sellers, and i got my first charizard class curry
almost all of the galarian forms are wonderful. i love seeing different forms for old faves
the nature changing mints are so handy
judging stats via pc is a breeze
the wild area is my fave. i've spent literal hours in there, and i love that the weather changes every day. every time i visit, i find new pokemon, new items, new raids, new ingredients. i'm never bored.
which is why i'm so excited about the prospect of a new area with new places to explore, new galarian forms, and most importantly.... it fixes what people considered to be the biggest flaw of swsh: its limited pokedex.
and you don't have to spend money to get the updated pokedex!! sure, if you want a new area to explore, then yeah, you're gonna have to pay to get that, but that's fair imo. (it is a bit steep for a dlc but eh, we're getting a lot out of it.) but the updated pokedex is being patched into the base game. you can trade your slowpokes and articunos and moltres and zapdos from your old games to swsh, or you can get their galarian forms traded from friends who have bought the dlc.
i'm just really happy about swsh in general tbh?? it feels like this is how pokemon was meant to be -- dynamic and full of life.

Okay, I’ve been playing Pokémon Shield recently so consider this FE3H/Pokemon game crossover idea I had for a moment.
Characters:
As of right now, I’m only going to put who I think would be gym leaders/Elite Four people. I may or may not have given every student (and some other characters) pokémon teams with four pokémon each, except if people don’t care about this then I’m not going to do much more with it except for my own personal enjoyment.
Elite Four
Sothis: Champion I think it’s pretty obvious why she’d be the champion. They’re very respected and powerful, but she’s still given the opportunity to be elusive and mysterious.
Rhea: Headmaster of Trainer School (Explained in plot) and Elite Four Member She’s not as powerful as the champion, but she is still quite powerful. I’m thinking she’d specialize in psychic pokémon or dragon pokémon.
Lambert: Elite Four Member Dimitri will be well-known and respected, considering how powerful his father is. He will also have a lot to live up to. I’m leaning towards making Lambert specialize in ice type pokémon because Faerghus=cold and cold=ice.
Patricia: Elite Four Member Again, having your mother be on the Elite Four will make you well-known. Also, it’s plot important. I feel like she’d specialize in fire type pokémon because... you know. Flame Emperor.
Reigan: Elite Four Member Claude’s grandpa doesn’t have a name, so I feel like he’d go by his last name. Again again, being on the Elite Four will mean that Reigan’d grandson is well-known. I kind of feel like he’d be an electric type gym leader because... I don’t know. Yellow?
Gym Leaders
So I would make the nobles gym leaders, but also there are too many nobles and not enough gym leaders. Here’s what I have so far. My reasoning may be garbage (as you can probably tell from the section about the Elite Four)
Rodrigue: Ice Type Gym Leader I will say it again. Faerghus=cold, cold=ice. I just feel like Rodrigue should be a gym leader.
Holst Gonriel: Fire Type Gym Leader Holst was a General in the Alliance and was respected for that, so it makes sense that he’d be a gym leader. Why fire? I don’t know, but I’ve connected dots that aren’t actually connected in anyway to justify myself for this long, so... He probably has pink hair, pink=light red red=hot hot=fire
Seteth: Psychic Type Gym Leader Okay, I swear I had a reason for making him a psychic type gym leader and not a dragon type one, but I can’t remember it. Please just trust me. Or don’t. Please feel free to argue with me, actually. Also, Flayn would most definitely be like Wally and want to be a trainer, but Seteth would be like, “No. it is too dangerous, but you may have this Togepi.” Then Byleth would beat him and he’d be like, “Having my ass kicked by this child has made me rethink my view point. You may be a pokémon trainer now, Flayn.” And yes, Flayn is referred to as his daughter in this.
Miklan: Rock Type Gym Leader I don’t know. I don’t know why I want him to be one. I don’t know why rocks. Just rocks. “Not bad for your kind. A bunch of rocks.”
Cornelia: Ghost Type Gym Leader Tell me this woman wouldn’t have a Mismagius and/or a Hattrene. It just fits.
Jeralt: Steel Type Gym Leader I originally had this as Gilbert, but I feel like it would make more sense for it to be Jeralt. I guess maybe the reason for him sending Byleth to school/them moving would be so he could be a gym leader. Also, steel makes sense because he was a knight, I guess?
Ladislava: Flying Type Gym Leader I love her, okay? So I put her in here. What are you gonna do about it? Ground me? You can’t. Speaking of ground, I was going to make her a ground type gym leader, but it makes more sense for her to be a flying type because she’s got a wyvern, so flying type.
Judith: Fighting Type Gym Leader Again, I love her. It just makes sense to me for her to be here. Why fighting? She is the hero of Daphnel. She’s good at fighting.
Plot:
I came up with this at midnight when 1/6th of my brain cell was functioning. It’s probably got things in it that don’t fit the lore/are just not good and I’m sorry. :( If you want to add ideas onto anything I’ve put on here, please do. Feedback would make me very happy. Also, I have no idea what I’m using this plot for, it just exists because I made it and I wanted to share it.
What if there was an optional school for those interested in trainers? I’m actually pretty sure something similar exists but I could be wrong. Prior to their journey, they could receive a starter Pokémon and be taught how to strategize. Byleth and Jeralt could move to the nearby village a few months after the school year begins, but Jeralt could convince the headmaster—Rhea—to let Byleth join. Byleth could recieve their starter Pokémon I don’t know what the starters would be and battle against someone maybe Jeritza or Catherine or Shamir idk as a sort of entrance exam.
Upon passing, Byleth could be allowed to join one of the Three Houses. I’ve been considering naming the houses after the legendary dogs, the legendary birds, or the lake guardians.
(The paragraphs in italics are just talking about the potential names for the houses, so you can skip it if you don’t care about that.)
So I feel like Entei, Raikou, and Suicune could definitely work, but I’m not entirely sure how I feel about naming them something like, “The Entei House.” You could, of course, use their titles, but that would be something like, “The Volcano Pokemon House” and im not sure about that either. Still, I know Arceus is rumored to have played a part in these Pokémon becoming legendaries, and Arceus is going to play a part in the plot.
Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres could also work, but again, the names would be weird. “The Articuno House” Or “The Ice Bird House.” I just feel like those are weird, however I do like that the types for each House are different.
Then there’s Uxie, Azelf, and Mesprit. Their colors match pretty well, and the titles of these Pokémon could definitely relate two the House leaders. Uxie is the knowledge Pokémon and it is also yellow. Claude’s color scheme is yellow, and he’s very witty. Azelf is the willpower Pokémon and it is also blue. Dimitri’s color scheme is blue and Dimitri often has to restrain his impulses and strength. Mesprit is the emotion Pokémon and it is also pink, which is pretty close to red and it has red gems. Edelgard’s color scheme is red. The only issue with this is that Edelgard isn’t any more emotional than other characters, or at least that is what I feel. If anyone has anything to add regarding this, please feel free to say so! (Especially if I’m wrong about my Pokémon lore.)
The house Byleth picks would determine who their rival is (it’s the house leader) and who they would interact with more often. (Trainers sometimes travel in groups, so it wouldn’t be uncommon for them to see all of their old classmates hanging out.)
Again, the plot of the story was created by me at 12:00 am after reading a few bulbapedia articles on Pokémon stuff so that I could find the correct Pokémon to use.
So Sothis is the champion. Not many people have the opportunity to face her, and she’s very secretive. No one knows how long she’s been the champion, either. So I wanted her to have befriended a legendary Pokémon, but I also wanted her to be immortal (or at least I wanted her to have lived for a long time.) So, I decided to have her befriend Jirachi, the Pokémon that grants wishes. She became the Pokémon champion, but as she got older she wished that she could keep living and defend her spot as champion until someone defeated her in battle. Her wish was granted, and at some point she had children, Rhea and Seteth. I’m not incorporating her other children and I’m keeping their names, too. The Elite Four are the only people who really speak to Sothis, along with her son and granddaughter. They are obviously suspicious of why she looks so young and how she’s been there so long, so Sothis tells them the truth. When Rhea finds out, she is determined to protect her, knowing that being defeated in battle will mean she will die. Patricia, however, wants this power for herself. She secretly forms and becomes the leader of a team called Team Flame wow so creative I know who’s goal is to obtain the azure flute, capture Arceus, then use it to defeat Sothis, as Patricia is unable to defeat on her own. Cornelia, Ladislava, and Jeritza will also be members of Team Flame. Once Byleth defeats/captures Arceus, Sothis will ask Patricia if she really wants to be immortal and watch as all of her loved ones leave her behind. Patricia is remorseful, and Sothis asks her to return to the Elite Four. Once Byleth defeats Sothis, she peacefully fades away and Jirachi also departs.
That’s all I have for right now, but I would love for there to be an open discussion about FE3H/Pokémon because I love both and they are all that’s on my mind right now.

So I was wrong Bout the direct. I predicted time tasting footage and "we care about you" PR, but i gotta say DLC didn't seem possible under their current lead. It definitely seems like this was stuff they already wanted to add to SwSh before they ran out of time given such a short release window, or that they were SOOOO gonna save for an enhanced version until someone from Nintendo yelled at them, lol.
200 "never before seen pokemon to Galar" is... not bad. I'd prefer all of them back, and being real, they probably totally count formes as separate pokemon, so the count will probably be more around 160, but not bad. I doubt they'll do it, but if they wanted to add in the rest of the missing Pokemon this way through future updates, I'd get it. It definitely seems like they're loosening their stance a tad.
I'm gonna be real, I'm actually a bit excited? I went in with rock bottom expectations and I'm actually shocked they're finally doing this after 24 years, 10 after they really should have started. I think the new director is helping to lift my expectations. I'm not going to get totally excited but Tani is a fresh face that hasn't disappointed me like Masuda or Ohmori.
Now, the actual content:
Armor Island
First of all, THANK GOD. I was so bored with Galar's topography. I need a bit of tropics to balance shit out. Galar Slowpoke is... okay, ngl, pretty lazy, it's just splotches of yellow on its Kanto form. But color me intrigued at the thought of a new Slowbro and Slowking. Spotted returning pokemon are Talonflame, which SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN ALREADY BECAUSE OF THE FUCKING WEATHER THING IN THE FIRST TRAILER, but better late than never. New GMax forms for your starters... I mean, okay? They look boring to me, but at least they aren't making you ditch yours. Now if they were to make it so I could make my beloved Corviknight gmax...
Also the new legendaries... not a fan. Gonna be real, I feel like just... HANDING IT TO YOU defeats the fucking purpose. Also it just vaguely feels... wrong? The evolved form looks better, but the base just feels so cheesy. Like someone saw Karate Kid and was like LET'S MAKE THIS A POKEMON.
Now, the new girls. Yes. I like them. At least I think I do. Klara seems more interesting to me but I'm laughing because one of them has the name of one of my friends and that's just hilarious. Also new outfits are always welcome. Can men finally have full length pants?
Also just
UH SHIT SHIT DUDE WE NEED A NAME THIS DIRECT GOES LIVE IN 10 SECONDS WE NEED A NAME
*looks at sandwich* Mustard
I'm fond of the idea of you training with the guy that trained Leon, BUT MUSTARD????? IS HIS RIVAL A PASTY WHITE DUDE NAMED MAYONNAISE??? Are we going to find a guy named Ketchup to finish our quest for a god damn sandwich???
The Crown Tundra
This looks promising. I'm a much bigger fan of the legendary here than the other, it seems like the arms and legs are kinda... unfinished? It actually looks like it was supposed to be related to Xerneas, but they made him a dangly boi instead. Also I wonder if the triforce was intentionally added.
All the legendaries returning are nice but unless my girl Typhlosion and my boi Samurott are in I'm calling it a lazy rehash of ORAS and USUM.
Now the new Bird and Regi trio forms. Well. I think they're forms. At least the birds. Those feel like uhhh Fighting type Zapdos? Dark type Moltress? Psychic type Articuno? But the Regi Trio look different enough to be their own thing.
Overall interesting.
Also, Gmax Venusaur and Blastoise. Finally. Should have been in to begin with, but I digress.
Also, MYSTERY DUNGEON REMAKE
Bruh! It looks so good! They even added newer pokemon! The art style looks so charming and fixes issues I had with the last two. I still need to play those. EVEN MEGAS ARE HERE. BRUH
So this is where you've been, Spike Chunsoft! We missed you man! And it releases so soon! Man I need money
Lastly, surprisingly little info on Home. I really thought they would drop it today, but one more month seems reasonable. If they could just. TELL US WTF IT IS. I'd be more at ease.
Overall a very suprising Direct. I'll admit I was wrong because GF did us dirty, but hey, I'll take progress over an ego boost. Not a fan of having to pay $30 for what should have been in the game to begin with, but hey, I'll take DLC over a pointless $60 Enhanced version any day, and at least the returning Pokemon is a free update. Just 200 more to go! Cmon. Do it you COWARDS.
Prayer circle for Typhlosion and Samurott.
Also nice subtle hints to DP remakes.

A whole Latte (window) shopping
Good evening from a rainy Tokyo! And no apologies for that awful pun in the title, haha.
Yeah, so uhm, two new tropical storms have formed… One has already dwindled down to a low pressure system, bringing in a ton of rain tonight into tomorrow over areas that have already had plenty of rani last week. The second is a typhoon right now and will probably tun into a low pressure area as well when it approaches late this week. The already battered parts of Japan really can’t catch a break, yikes.
For me, it’s just a mild inconvenience. Tokyo will get rain, and pretty much all my side trips are falling through as they’re in dangerous areas due to risk of landslides and what not, but I can definitely keep myself otherwise entertained. I can only hope that these storms blow over without too much additional damage.
Anyway! I finally managed to wear myself out today, haha, and that despite just sticking to the city I’m staying in. Climbing mountains is easy, but (window) shopping does me in!
Follow me below for my report of today, consisting of Shibuya revisited, hopping over to Harajuku and Akihabara and ending with dinner with a certain bright yellow mascot. Pictures will be up tomorrow morning!
First things first, I had a train ticket to secure for a trip that will happen no matter what: the ride to the airport on the 28th. The Narita Express doesn’t often go through Ikebukuro, but it does at a convenient time for me for once on the 28th, so I wanted to get a seat on that train, haha. Sure, I have to get up early, but I can throw my luggage into the luggage corner, take a seat, and only get up once I’m at the airport. I’ve nearly always had to transfer after the Yamanote line, which is not a lot of fun when you have heavy bags with you. So! I made my way to the JR East travel office, since the normal ticket office apparently can’t reserve seats on the Narita Express for you, and secured my seat. I also asked about trains further out, and got confirmed what I was already suspecting: dangerous, cancelled lines, etcetera. Well, I’m not gonna risk it. Too bad about my JR pass, but it’s given me my free seat in the Narita Express, and the shorter trips throughout Tokyo secretly add up a lot too if you don’t have a free pass. It has long since paid itself off!
Well, I had gotten a relatively early start today, so I went to Shibuya again at a calm pace. It was only a little after ten, so the crossing was pretty empty compared to yesterday, haha. I first hopped over to the Disney store to secure my ticket for Disneyland. Hey, it’s tradition by now! There was only one person in front of me instead of a long line (going on a Monday morning really helps), so that was quickly arranged. After some shop browsing, I traced my way to my Miyamasu Mitake shrine (I’m getting possessive over it by now, haha). And behold, the shop was open! I could finally hand in my omamori, protective charm, which I’d gotten almost 2 years ago (you’re supposed to hand it back in after a year). I immediately got a new one, of course. Still white, because I think the other ones were more specific, and ‘general luck’ has worked fine so far I’d say!
I had a light and early lunch at a nearby café and then went back to the station to go one stop further on the Yamanote line: Harajuku. I usually go to the fancy Omotesando street or the Meiji shrine, but today, I went into Takeshita street. That’s what you think of when you hear Harajuku, I guess, haha, sinc this street is lined with a ton of fashion stores and all kinds of food. There’s one stall that’s gotten pretty well known for its huge rainbow colored candy floss, which are indeed a sight to behold (but I held off for now, I needed to be hungry for dinner). My main mission here was finding a coat, but I got immensely sidetracked by super cute clothing everywhere. No coats that fit my criteria, but I sure had fun window shopping and I’m seriously considering a couple of outfits. Not the very fancy frilly gorgeous dresses, though. I mean, they are amazingly gorgeous and not as outrageously expensive as you might think (not cheap by all means, but I’ve seen more expensive clothes in my little home town) but still… I don’t think I’d dare to wear them? Also, those would definitely mean I have to buy a second suitcase, haha.
Once I went back and forth through Takeshita street, I went back to the station for my next stop on the Yamanote line: Akihabara station, also known as nerd central I guess, haha. Truth is, in earlier years I didn’t really like Akihabara. As it turns out, it really depends on what shops you visit. I know a couple now that mostly cater towards my interests, but there are also a lot of shops here that cater to a male audience, if you catch my drift. But now, I had a lot of fun window shopping and making a mental list of what’s available. I accidentally bought a couple of figurines last year and that’s definitely a trap, now I keep looking, haha.
It was cooling down, so I fled into the station for my final stop for today: Tokyo station. I was going to head to the café I had my reservation for, but it was like an hour and a half in advance, so I first strolled through the underground Tokyo Station city. There is a street called character street which has a lot of specialized merchandise stores, and I always struggle to find it, but today I just – walked right into it as I was looking for my exit for the café, haha. This time, I ended up buying a couple of clearfiles, and then I slowly made my way to the Yaesu North exit.
A short walk later, I was at my destination: the Pokémon DX store with adjacent Pokémon café! You can only get into the café for a meal if you have reservations. I found out in the nick of time that you only need a credit card if you want to pre-order exclusive goods, so I managed to make a reservation for today a week or so before I hopped onto my plane. I was still too early, so I did a lot of browsing in this Pokémon store. I’ve visited quite some Pokémon stores by now, but this one takes the cake. It’s roomy, big, interactive, and has a ton of products I haven’t seen anywhere else yet. Do you want a Pokémon plushie? You can literally get one for every single Pokémon from the first 2 generations, so like – 251. I was strong and steered clear of plushies today, but I did have a wishlist now, haha. There is also a long wall that shows the development of the games throughout the years, that was so fun and nostalgic to watch!
At long last, I got to enter the café! I was seated at the long table in the center, right next to the statue of Pikachu, and got to order my dishes through the tablet on table, which had multiple language options. Of course, I opted for the limited time Pikachu Halloween plate, and I also got a latte with Pokémon art on it. You can pick from the first 251 Pokémon, but I went with Eevee. I was going to get an Eevee mug separately, because I thought you could only order it with the hot cocoa, but it turns out you can get it with the latte too if you have the Eevee art, haha. So I got a receipt for my order plus mug and settled in to eat. But there was a surprise: Chef Pikachu came out to meet everyone! Japan sure loves its mascot characters, so you bet they have tons of Pikachu suit characters. (Heck, there’s a whole parade of them in Yokohama in summer.) Pikachu made his rounds to shake hands with everyone and seemed rather taken by the small Pikachu I had brought with me and remembered to put on my shoulder in the nick of time, haha.
The plate was actually pretty good! I mean, not haute cuisine, and you can definitely get more extravagant meals for this price elsewhere, but hey, will it be shaped like Pikachu with a witch hat? I think not. Don’t go to character cafés if you want quality food, but do go if you want to take in the atmosphere and enjoy the way the food looks. Japan is all about presentation.
I had a good time here, although I was too full for dessert, so I ordered a float drink instead inspired by the legendary bird Pokémon Articuno. It was a fizzy drink that was a tad too sweet for my taste, but hey, it came with a free coaster! For every drink, you get a coaster. You can pick a random card on a tablet, and that card determines which coaster you get. Since it’s Halloween season, you could also pick the official Halloween 2019 Pikachu coaster, which I had done for the latte. For the random pick, I got Espeon! Nice.
You can spend at most 90 minutes at the café before your time is up, so after my last photos, I made my way to the register to pay for my food, a set of clear files, and of course my new Eevee mug, which they promptly wrapped up nicely for me, so I can’t show a picture of it yet, haha. I then wandered into the store to grab some goods I had gotten my eye on (not all for me! I do souvenirs for others too!), and finally made it out again. Sadly, it had started to drizzle, so I walked to the station fast and made way to Ikebukuro.
So now here I am! Tomorrow is a holiday since it’s the enthronement of the Emperor, but they postponed the procession until November due to typhoon Hagibis (and I bet they don’t regret that decision now, what with the current weather). It doesn’t sound like there’s a lot to see for us mere mortals. Although I suppose this means I’m physically closer to my country’s king and queen than I’ve ever consciously been back home, as they’re attending the ceremony tomorrow, haha. Ah well.
With the weather forecast, I think I’ll go over to Ueno Park to visit the National Museum of Nature and Science, since I’ve been throwing that one longing looks since 2010, but never let myself visit before. And after that, I’ll see – maybe some karaoke? I’ll hold off on more shopping for now as Wednesday will be busy (Disney!), and then I’ll just see what the weather will do and what my safe options are, because I’m not gonna take unnecessary risks.
It’s getting late here, so I’ll upload the pictures tomorrow morning. Good night for now!

Fresh Start
(Not sure if this is official Pokémon art or fanart. If the later then please tell me and I’ll remove it.) Ok, First I’m going to explain my classification on the rare Pokémon and what can and can not be recruited, from what I’ve learned of pokémon from these past 20 some years. Legendary Pokémon I see them as a pantheon, making each one the only one until otherwise shown in the animes, movies, manga, and games; Arceus, Ho-Oh, Celebi, Regirock, Regice, Regirock, Regigigas, Latias, Latios, Groudon, Kyogre, Jirachi, Azlef, Mesprit, Uxie, Dialga, Palkia, Giratina, Cresselia, Darkrai, Heatran, Cobalion, Terrakion, Virizion, Keldo, Tornadus, Thundurus, Landorus, Reshiram, Zekrom, Kyurem, Xerneas, Yveltal, Zygarde, Hoopa, Volcanion, Magearna, Tapu Koko, Tapu Lele, Tapa Bulu, and Tapu Fini. As legendary each is unrecruitable unless shown in any of the official series or because they are of a stature that recruiting them wouldn’t make sense one way or another.
Mythical Pokémon These are species that have more than one that have been shown in the animes, movies, manga, and games(or stated by the series that more than can exist) but are still rare to find and capture; Mew, Mewtwo, Lugia, Moltres, Articuno, Zapdos, Entei, Suicune, Raikou, Rayquaza, Deoxys, Manaphy, Phione, Shaymin, Victini, Meloetta, Genesect, Diancie, Cosmog, Cosmoem, Solgaleo, Lunala, Nihilego, Buzzwole, Pheromosa, Xurkitree, Celesteela, and Kartana.
EXTRA INFO Now I will elaborate on a few that can or have been recruited/caught. And there are other bits of info here. 1. The Regi Trio all have a trainer as shown in the series, thus I won’t be posting my game capturing of them as part of the JE as recruiting, even though I have in the game. 2. The Legendary Beasts have been shown to have others of there kind so I will mention them in my story should I receive one via event or in-game capture. Though it will most likely be a shiny as I have a shiny Suicune from the Heart Gold/Soul Silver event with shiny versions of the three. 3. There have been two Mewtwos shown in the series, one male by its voice & depiction and the other female by it voice & depiction as its reaction shows it was surprised Ash knew it. Plus to add to the evidence of that is that both Mega Evolutions were shown to next to each other in the anime or movie, I don’t right remember which. And with the recent Pokémon Tournament game having Shadow Mewtwo it supports my theory. So because there are three in known media I assume more of them have been created in the Pokéverse and so in my JE world there are more. 4. Genesect falls into the same category as Mewtwo, there is more than one. But since how they even reproduce is an unknown I won’t bother with them at the moment. There’s just too little info. -_- 5. Deoxys is an extremely rare species as they appear when a space virus mutates upon entering the planets atmosphere. Thus one can be caught. 6. It is stated that if one of the Creation Trio is caught then Arcues has the power to recreate another of them. So it’s of the highest of rare recruits and thus making an exception to their being only one. But as to what happens when the first returns after the trainer dies or releases it, I’m guessing Arceus simply has the two merge together or something, 7. Now as for Latias and Latios, these two have been shown as sibling Pokémon and did have a father. I can not speculate as to what the father was as Manaphy has shown that a child will not always be the same as the parent. 8. There a few on here I haven’t listed as there is little info on them. Thus I won’t be using them in my entries except for perhaps lore. 9. Now I’m gonna address villians, they exist in the world of my Journal Entries. I will have encounters with them occasionally but my Pokéverse self is not the hero who takes down the organization. So don’t expect anything like him going up against Giovani. 10. Also, villains in this Pokéverse have worked on making pokéballs and other methods that capture pokémon, but not recruited pokémon.(Note: Reason is because the recruiting balls register the pokémon under to the trainers team.) 11. Pokéballs come in to sets; Recruit Balls and Capture Balls. The difference between these two is rather obvious. There are variants though. For example, the Recruit Master Ball is for recruiting pokémon who are too strong for an average recruit ball. And a Capture Master Ball is one designed to capture and enslave any pokémon without question, but also to capture pokémon that are extremely powerful. I will make a complete list of the different Recruit and Capture Balls in a later post. 12. Because my Pokéverse self originates from Orre, Shadow pokémon are a historical thing and still pop up. Additionally there are other methods and occurrences that twist or corrupt pokémon and other creatures, even humans. 13. There is a sordid history when it comes to humans in the Pokéverse, at one time there were places and people who openly and without worry of consequence enslaved pokémon as their own personal property, whether it be as trophies, entertainment, or some other horrid reason. This is how the organizations such as the Ranger Union came into being.

bit of a rant/review of pokemon the movie i choose you
Ok. Can we talk about the Pokémon movie? It was a beautiful fucking mess.
Why?
Let me preface this by saying I am a huge Pokénerd and am a fan of the games and anime (I haven’t watched it in years but what I have seen recently I enjoyed). Saying that, I also am someone who won’t take “well it’s just a kid’s show/movie, it doesn’t have to be good” as an excuse ever, especially with well-done kid’s movies are coming out every year at this point.
Anyway. if you are curious, for some reason, about my opinion of the latest movie in the Pokémon franchise....continue reading.
Also. SPOILERS BELOW.
So. Like I said previously. It was a beautiful, terrible hot mess.
A h o t mess
Let’s start with why I thought it was terrible (and weed out the butthurt fans right off the bat)
Story wise, there were issues. Since they crammed the entirety of season 1 into it with different characters and picked the best episodes of the season as story points.
Like I would compare it to The Last Airbender movie in how over-stuffed it was in story, since that movie also tried to an entire season into a movie, but I can’t compare them because The Last Airbender movie is actual garbage and this movie is.....not that.
Main complaint is movie length. Why is it so short when it could have been so much longer and filled with more character interaction and development?? I’m not asking for Pixar quality because I’m not expecting Pixar, but if you’re gonna introduce us to new characters and expect us to love them and miss them when they leave, give us a bit more to go on than just snapshots of their journey. Speaking of snapshots, though, I did like that little touch of Verity going through her phone to show the moments they’ve all been together -- clever, time-saving story-telling choice, that.
“No one watches/plays Pokémon for the story/characters” -- WELL I DO. THEY’VE DONE IT IN THE PAST AND MADE A MEMORABLE STORY AND GAME FOR US, SO THEY CAN DO IT AGAIN. Have you even SEEN Pokemon Mewtwo Strikes Back? BECAUSE BOI THERE WERE TEARS AND IT WAS THE BEST.
Just...The reason the other Pokémon movies worked so well/better is because we knew the characters involved aside from Ash. If we’re being introduced to new characters in this movie, give us a reason to care about them.
There was also just very little tension because I knew that they were just highlighting parts of the first season (or so), so whatever problem they had would be worked out by the end. Also, because it’s Pokémon and Ash is an OP MC.
My boi Sorrel tho
I love Sorrel, though. A+ dude. I wish he had more screen time because he's such a cute little bean and I FUCKING CRIED when his Luxray died HGHSJJJJjdee (but does he only have Lucario?? Like I know he was too afraid to love a Pokémon after Luxray, but boy are you seriously going on your own with one mon???)
I was also happy to see that he found Articuno, but WOW these kids are lucky because together they’ve all seen like four legendaries (Entei, Raikou, Suicine, Ho-Oh) in the span of a year (or so?) Some people, apparently, don’t see legendaries EVER and these kids see FOUR? I know it’s because plot but dang.
Verity (like the lake!)
Verity (ha her name is Verity and she's from a region with a lake named Verity lol) kind of just reminded me too much of Misty with her Pokémon being water types. If they were gonna add that little background about her mom, I wish they would have done more with it. Like...explain how she uses water types because her mom loved water types. She uses a Piplup because her mom has an Empoleon. I just wanna know MORE about her. GIVE ME MOREEEE DANG IT
I also def thought they were gonna have her mom as someone we've met in the games/show before, but no. Just random, faceless character we never see/meet.
Angry child Cross who is essentially Kacchan from My Hero
Can we talk about Cross for a second?
Yes, he’s an asshole, but, especially with that little redemption arc, he’s not EVIL. Like I know they needed someone to set off all the bad things, but this boy doesn’t have an evil heart. Just say....like a darkened heart or whatever because if he was evil he wouldn’t get a redemption arc like that. He’s just a proud asshole who believes in strength over friendship.
Honestly, true antagonist is Marshadow because WOW SOMEONE NEEDS TO COOL THEIR JETS. I was also incredibly confused as to if Marshadow was good or bad.... Like they say its a guide and someone who restores the balance or fixes the Ho-Oh feather, which sounds like a good guy, but this little bitch was stirring up all the trouble and ends up being the main villain like good lord what is going on.
The animation, the colors
Damn I forgot how good the battles look. Like DAMN. So much tension for a battle I know Ash is gonna win. So much hype when LITERALLY NO ONE UNDERSTANDS TYPE MATCHUPS LIKE A PIPLUP VS A PIKACHU THE PIKACHU WILL WIN IDIOTS
Ahem. But I'm probably thinking too much like the games and not the show which kind of throws the games out the window so whatever.
But yeah, man, I forgot how beautiful something can be when it goes onto the big screen. Like, the Pokémon anime has always had a certain look, a certain charm to it (yes, even in the Sun and Moon series), but it just looked so great and beautiful and gorgeous and lovely on the screen and I’m honestly excited for it to come out on DVD/BluRay whatever so I can see it again.
Ok...it’s not Your Name or a Ghibli film. But...it’s still a very pretty Pokémon movie and it touches my nostalgic, nerdy heart.
ALL THE NOSTALGIA
You read my complaints above, but I will admit that, while it was a bit ridiculous to cram the entire first season into one movie, I enjoyed that it was a celebration of sorts of the show from its beginning? Which was honestly great. They had all of the best, most memorable moments from the show (the pilot -- obviously, finding Charmander, Bye Bye Butterfree). I was near tears a few times with all the nostalgia, guys.
I wish they had brought back Misty and Brock if they wanted to really really celebrate the first season, but c’est la vie.
AND THEN THAT THEME SONG GAVE ME LEGIT CHILLS. I DON’T CARE THAT IT WAS REMIXED. I HAD CHILLS. GOOSEBUMPS E V E R Y W H E R E.
I saw the theme song remix on YouTube prior to seeing the movie and I felt all the nostalgia then, so you’d think I wouldn’t get chills when I saw it.
Welp, we’d both be wrong then. Because ALL THE CHILLS. ALL THE HYPE FOR THE REST OF THE MOVIE. IT WAS GLORIOUS. (imma put it on repeat after i post this, tbh.)
Other things that don’t really have a place elsewhere
Also, this was pretty much the X-Men days of future past of Pokemon. Tbh. Because, unless this is just AU first season? (I can’t remember if this was confirmed to be just the alternate universe first season), it’s like they’re saying well, here’s the NEW beginning of the show so now we can do whatever we want woo! (Jesus I sound like Kukui)
Speaking of doing whatever they want...
PIKACHU SAID WORDS??? ENGLISH? WHYY???????????? I WAS SO CONFUSED AND WONDERED IF MY SODA HAD BEEN SPIKED
I know they were trying to do the throwback to Mewtwo Returns (BECAUSE WE ALL KNOW THAT WAS ONE OF, IF NOT THE, BEST MOVIES AND SO DOES THE POKÉMON COMPANY) and we all want to remember why we love Ash and Pikachu so much and why THEY care about each other so much. But....that was.......strange. Maybe the Japanese audience liked it more because that seems to be the only opinion they really care about, but I know I wasn’t the only one in the theatre just staring at the screen in confusion asking what the actual f u c k was going on.
Last things
I may have my complaints -- that I’m throwing out into the ether just to get them out of my head -- but that doesn’t mean I disliked it.
It’s still Pokémon and I’m still a fan and everyone will still be fans regardless of any issues with the movie, any story problems, any characters featured (or lack thereof **MISTY AND BROCK).
With its beautiful animation, particularly in the battles, and gorgeous set pieces, because WOW did you say some of the views they had?, it was nice to see Pokémon celebrated with an old story told with a fresh coat of paint.
This movie may not be the best. It may not be Pokemon: The First Movie Mewtwo Strikes Back (honestly, most movies aren’t that, so that might be a bit unfair to say.) But it’s still got that Pokémon charm we all know and love and has some pretty cool characters along the way. It’s definitely something that every Pokémon fan, young or old, new or a veteran, should watch and enjoy. Because, despite its flaws, it reminds you of better times, nostalgic times.
It reminds you of that first time you played the game or watched the show, when your biggest choice was your starter Pokémon and adventure was just outside the door, waiting for you to take the first step.
(Yes, I’m basically saying nostalgia is what powers this movie, but we’re celebrating the 20th anniversary, so of course there will be nostalgia.)
Some fandoms can’t say they’ve been around for over 20 years -- but Pokémon, with its die-hard fans and ever-growing fanbase who will support just about anything that comes out relating to the games/show, can. And the movie understands that. It understands that just about everyone who sees it will put on their hat, grab their Pokémon, and sit in those theatre seats like we’re all excited 10 year olds waiting to go on our own journeys, waiting to revisit the world of Pokémon regardless of how good the movie is. And that, the strength of the fans and the perpetual love of the series, in my opinion, is the greatest strength.
#pokemon the movie: i choose you spoilers#pokemon spoilers#review#rant#or something like that#nostalgia#animation#sorrel#verity#new characters#ash#pikachu#pokemon

Pokémon Challenge || FireRed
You know how I said the Fuchsia City gym would be difficult for me to complete? Turns out it was easier than I expected! After initially finding out my Cubone’s ground-type moves were useless due to the Koffing/Weezing ‘s Levitate ability. Luckily between using Cubone, Pidgeot and Blastoise it was a great feeling when Koga went down!
I also revisited Celadon City to be able to go and get the HM Fly, which I personally find a really useful move! I’ve now made my way to Saffron City and the Psychic gym. I didn’t really have any type advantage or disadvatage here but due to Pokémon levels, this was still quite an easy victory.
This led me on to the Seafoam Islands which has taken up most of my time over the past few days due to the fact that I usually don’t manage to make it this far! This is the first time I’ve had to use a step-by-step tutorial to get through to be able to catch myself an Articuno to add to my team. This means that Pidgeot has now been retired to Bill’s storage system with a few of my other Pokémon! After an hour or two here I was able to make my way across to Cinnabar Island!
Again, this also required a little guide help to assist with finding the key to the next gym and which involved a good time exploring Cinnabar Mansion and training! Not gonna lie, there’s not much to tell you about Cinnabar Gym! Having a Blastoise with the move surf meant that this one was taken down in minutes and which leaves me with the final gym badge to complete! However before that, a small detour to the Sevii Islands to assist Bill is required along with some more Pokémon training to get my team into shape!
Current Team: Marowak (lvl 42), Jolteon (lvl 44), Blastoise (lvl 49), Articuno (lvl 50) and Arcanine (lvl 27).
Current Goals: Train up team to at least lvl 50.

Hints
Start A Special Episode
Once you unlock the Bidoof’s Wish episode, you can select Special Episodes from the menu. Sometimes, you can’t start a Special Episode. This is because something important is happening in the main game. (EX – being taken to the future, on the expedition, etc. ) To start a Special Episode, complete whatever special thing you are doing, then select it from the menu. The guaranteed time in which you know that you can start an episode is when your task is to do jobs.
Lookalike Items
The new features in PMD: EOS include Lookalike Items, which look just like another item, but have different effects! These are all that I currently know of:
Oren Berry (Oran Berry)- Inflicts damage on you if eaten Dough Seed (Doom Seed)- Item that makes more Poke’ appear on next floor Mix Elixer (Max Elixer)- Only Linoone can drink it Via Seed (Vile Seed)- Warps you across the dungeon Reviser Seed (Reviver Seed)- I think it makes you faint Slip Seed (Sleep Seed)- You start to slide all over Those are all I know of right now. I will add more as I discover them!
How To Get Palkia
To get palkia, go to the spatial rift after you beat it the first time. That’s all you need to do, and it usually works.
Mystery Part/Secret Slab: What You Need To Know
The rare Mystery Part And Secret Slab have very important meanings: The ability to find legendary pokemon in dungeons. The leader must be holding the item within the dungeon to find the legendary pokemon (s). Here are the places, floors, and legendaries you’ll find there.
Zapdos: Amp plains, 7f. Moltres: Giant Volcano, 10f. Lugia: Surrounded Sea, 18f. Ho-Oh: Mt. Mistral, 19f. Celebi: Mystifying Forest, 10f. Latias: Spacial Rift, 10f. Latios: Spacial Rift, Deepest Part, 5f; Midnight Forest, 24f. Deoxys: Shimmering Hill, 17f. * Darkrai: Mystifying forest, 13f; Crevice Cave, Deepest Part, 2f; Miracle Sea, 3f; Spacial rift, 14f.
Any other legendaries are either bosses at the end of a dungeon, recruitable by talking to them a second time (ex. Shaymin at sky’s peak peak), or by challenge requst. *: You can find all forms of deoxys, but only one per visit.
How To Get Dialga
To get dialga you got to wait untilyou beat dialga (dark dialga) you have to go again (but only you and your partner can go because they are the shosen one)and beat dialga again (hes not dark dialga anymore). Then he will want to join your team. (i got dialga after I beat up darkrai).
Seven Treasures
After you go and beat up froslass there will be a pokemon called scizor. You’ll have to rescue him, after that hell give a secret rank and that will be how to go explore new dungeons. There you can find some legendary pokemons like ohho, lugia, heatran, moltres, zapdos, articuno, mew, giratina, groudon, kyogre, rayquaza and deoxys (deoxys in all forms). (ohho, lugia, moltres, zapdos and deoxys (in all forms) will not appear in the seven treasures) you can only get them if you have a secret slab and a mystery part). (oh I almost forgot you have to get latios and latias with a mystery part or a secret slab too).
Get Every Single Item From Kelclon In A Dungeon
If you find a kelclon shop in a dungeon, go to the stairs, like really close to it, and use a trawl orb and all of the items will come to you, if you don’t want to get caught easily eat some quick seeds and pick up the items.
Money
Before you enter any dungeon you have to store all your money. Even if it’s a easy one (the first dungeon) you still should save your money. Unless your planning to do nothing really then save your money. It’s also a good way to save your money for reviver seeds and any thing else your gonna need for the adventures.
Riolu To Lucario
To get Riolu to become Lucario have a sun ribbon and have Riolu’s IQ at or above one star.
Light Box Error
If you get a Light Box after defeating an enemy, look at it’s info. It says, “a box that’s surprisingly SLIGHT”. It should be “light” instead of “slight”. I thought that they would have fixed it in EOS, because its in EOT & EOD as well!
Big Adventure
Before going on a hard adventure instead of packing millions of berries just back heal seeds they heal everything. They heal burns, poison, freeze, paralyze.
Find Bottles On The Beach
After Spinda’s Cafe’ opens, go down to the beach. Krabby will come up and say some stuff about how bottles have been appearing on the beach. From now on you can find bottles on the beach just about every day that have special missions inside of them!
New Partners
Here are some new partners
Male- Riolu Shinx Phanpy Female- Eevee Vulpix Skitty (this is a partner pokemon which is from older games)
Recruiting Poke’mon
After you beat Drowzee, Chimecho will allow you to recruit other Poke’mon into your rescue team. You can only recruit Poke’mon if your leader (you) defeats it. It won’t be recruited if your partner defeats it.
