my ideal timkon don't get together until they've both already done some queer realizations and dated other guys a little bit, in part because on tim's end, i think he's been in love with kon since he was 17, but at 17 tim didn't even know he was bisexual, forget anything else. and his feelings for kon were so big but also so constant that he didn't even realize they were there or significant because they've always been there and been huge. for years. so he putters along and does his time in the torment nexus (the closet) and languishes a bit but slowly starts to figure it out.
meanwhile kon dates someone, mostly like omg im dating a guy this is ALLOWED !??!?! and its pretty lowkey and casual and doesnt last bc like . super identity issues, right. kon would Never just tell someone, but secrets and casual relationships dont last long etc etc. but just the entire principle of kon dating someone and then being like yeah idk im not really feeling it like hes nice and all but i think hes more interested in like… yknow, my hot bod, than me. its whatever tho. and tim just being SOOOOO mad that someone would date kon and not absolutely adore him. tim will not be unpacking why hes so mad about kon having a shitty boyfriend. obviously its just bc kons his bestie and deserves better. (😶)
so he's just grouchily tinkering on some upgrade for his car to get the grumpy energies out. like WHATEVER! (angrily turns socket wrench) he's not saying kon should dump the guy or anything (angrily turns socket wrench) but he's just SAYING, kon can do BETTER!!!!! (angrily turns socket wrench) and kon DESERVES better!!! kon deserves someone who will treat him RIGHT!!!!! (angrily turns socket wrench) like if TIM was gonna fuck kon he wouldn't do it like a goddamn quickie and just fucking leave (angrily grabs the next size socket and scoots further under the car) like kon OBVIOUSLY doesn't like that so why won't this guy GET THAT!!!! (angry tinkering noises) if he's that shallow he can go find himself a sexy body pillow to screw!!! leave kon alone!!!!
and cassie sitting on a chair nearby is just like. sorry what was that? "if i was gonna fuck kon"? did you just say--hey tim? hey. can you go back a step?
and tim's just. obviously this is a hypothetical everyone considers about kon. look at him he's . you know. besides, tim's just talking as his best friend who wants the best for him! ugh stop trying to read into it cassie, that's not the POINT--
#rimi talks#cassie: only one of us HAS fucked kon and yet somehow *i'm* not the one who's ever started a sentence with ''if i was gonna fuck kon''.#like i'm just saying tim. i HAVE fucked kon. and i have Never Once said those words in that order. fascinating huh?#tim (rolling out from under his car to give her the most withering look imaginable): oh so you're saying you think that's fine then?#like you Wouldn't do better than this guy?#cassie: literally not at all what i'm saying but also DO YOU HEAR YOURSELF--#the narrator: tim would not admit he's bisexual for another 5 months.#a few days later dick finds him on a rooftop brooding so so so hard and goes yeah bud??#and tim with the most thousand yard stare in the world is like. i think cassie was right about something. but i'm not telling you what#timkon#its important to me that tim is kind of stupid. you get that right#he's stupid and cassie is his bestie who means the world to him and also IS going to point and laugh at him for this for the next 4 years#tim#kon#cassie

x
Then
A wedding day should be special. It should be the best day of a woman’s life. You’ve dreamed about the perfect wedding since you stumbled upon your mom’s dress when you were six. You even made a toilet paper veil to go with your short white dress you only wore for church on Sundays. You should be crying because you’re overwhelmed by the happiness, not because you’re terrified.
You’re standing at the altar with your fiance but all you’re thinking about is his brother. Spencer Reid is supposed to be the one you’re marrying. He’s supposed to be at your side, ready to promise you the world. Instead, it’s his older brother, Zack. Zack is… scary. He’s dominant. He’s possessive. He’s controlling. It’s not as bad as you’re making it out to be but compared to Spencer, he’s the devil.
“Do you, Zachary Reid, take Y/N to be your lawfully wedded wife to cherish and to hold, to love until death do you part?”
He squeezes your hands and smiles.
“I do.”
“Do you, Y/N, take Zachary Reid to be your lawfully wedded husband to cherish and to hold, to love until death do you part?”
You open your mouth to respond but pause. Three seconds. That’s all you’re given to think about this decision. You look from Zack to Spencer who is standing right behind his brother. Spencer is the best man. There’s so much history between you three. You love Zack, don’t mistake that, but you’re in love with Spencer. When Zack was having one of his moments, you turned to Spencer for comfort.
Spencer was the one who stayed up with you when you couldn’t sleep. He’s the one you told all your secrets to. He supported you when you wanted to go back to school to get a bachelor’s degree. He came over when you were sick to take care of you when Zack was busy with work. He always gave you an extra present at Christmas time and on your birthday after everyone else had gone to bed.
He was your New Year’s kiss every year until Zack caught you two. He wasn’t mad but it wasn’t suspicious that Spencer sported a black eye the next day. He’s your best friend and soulmate yet you’re marrying someone else. If he feels the same as you, then this last second is his moment to say something.
He doesn’t.
“I do,” you say and pull your eyes from Spencer.
“You may now kiss the bride.”
Zack pulls you close and kisses you in front of everyone. Cheers erupt and music plays as everyone celebrates this new chapter in both of your lives. The celebration moves to the reception area where everyone enjoys good food, good music, and each other’s company. The first dance begins and Zack pulls you onto the dance floor. He holds you close to him and sways softly to the music.
You look past his shoulder at Spencer who is watching you two with hooded eyes. He’s always been an easy book to read but at this moment, you can’t read a goddamn thing he’s feeling.
Now
You should have seen this coming. The warning signs were always there. Even before he laid a hand on you, something was telling you to run and never look back. It’s hard to say no to a man like Zack. He wants things done his way and if they aren’t, he turns into a whole other person. Someone darker. Someone with bad intentions.
He made it damn near impossible to leave.
The second an opportunity arose for you to leave, you took it. It’s why you’re running in a rainstorm toward the one person who can make this better. Even if he can make it better for a few hours, you’ll take it. You might have a few hours before Zack knows you’re missing if you do this right. You made sure none of his men or staff saw you on your way out.
Your tears blend in with the rain so the only indication that you’ve been sobbing is how puffy your eyes are. You’re in pain but the thought of going back to Zack brings you more pain than any of the physical wounds on your body.
When you get to his house, you lean on the door frame to catch your breath. It hurts to breathe since your ribs are poking your lungs but you manage. You knock frantically on the door until he opens the door. Spencer’s eyes widen when he sees the state you’re in. Torn dress, bruised skin, and soaking wet.
“Y/N… what…?”
You fall into Spencer and he wraps his arms around your body to keep you from crashing to the ground.
“Please help me.”
Spencer looks around to see if there is someone around to make you behave this way but sees nothing. He pulls you into his house, ignoring the pools of water on the floor. He brings you to the couch and sits next to you so he can examine your wounds.
“What happened? Does Zack know you’re here? Does he know you’re like this?”
It’s because you feel so safe with Spencer that you don’t think twice about telling him this. Once you say it, he’ll be the only person you have ever told about this part of your life. Zack has everyone on his side so no one will believe you.
“He’s the one who did this to me.”
Spencer turns on a lamp so he can see you better and gasps when he sees just how badly you’re bruised. You have a black eye, there is a yellow bruise under your chin that’s healing from the last time he hit you, your arms are both purple and a sickly yellow from the different stages of bruises, and he’s sure if he took off your dress, he’d see more bruises.
“Fuck.” Spencer doesn’t curse often so you know it’s a big deal when he does. “We need to get you to a hospital.”
“No!” Panic flurries in your chest at the thought. Zack has eyes and ears everywhere. “No hospital. You’re a doctor, right?”
“Not that kind of doctor,” he winces. He sees the desperation in your eyes and sighs. “Wait here. I’ll be back.”
Spencer leaves the room and comes back five minutes later with a hefty first aid kit. It hurts when he touches your bruises but you let him try and clean you up. You know he wants to ask because you can see it in his eyes but he respects you so he doesn’t.
“Zack and I went to a coffee house before going to his work. We were in line and he was on his phone. The guy behind us started a conversation with me. It was nothing. I don’t even remember what we were talking about. He was really nice but that pissed Zack off. When we got to his office, he accused me of cheating on him. I tried to tell him I never have but he wouldn’t hear it.”
“Is this the first time?”
“No,” you whisper. “It’s the fifth.” Spencer takes some gauze and dabs a cut on your face to clean some of the blood off. He’s shaking from how angry he is. “When it happened the first time, he kept saying how sorry he was and how much he loved me.” Tears spill over your eyes. “God, I’m an idiot.”
“He won’t hurt you ever again, okay?” You nod and he continues to clean you up as best as possible with his first aid kit. “Alright, the bleeding has stopped.” He gently caresses your face. “I shouldn’t have let you marry him three years ago.”
“Why didn’t you say anything?” you ask with a whimper.
“I thought you deserved better than me.”
You cry. “You’re the best there is, Spencer.”
Don’t do this, Spencer. This is wrong. She’s hurt and vulnerable. The little voice inside his head is telling him not to kiss you but he finds himself leaning toward you. You close your eyes expecting to feel his lips. Instead, your phone ringing is what interrupts you two. You don’t have to see it to know who it is. You take your phone out of your pocket and see Zack’s name on the screen. Spencer immediately snatches the phone from your hand and answers it.
“Zachary,” Spencer answers with venom.
“Where is my wife?”
“With me, but if you want her, then come get her. You’ll have to go through me to do it. Trust me, you don’t want to fuck with an FBI agent.” Zachary is flabbergasted and stutters as he tries to think of something to say. He could never stand up to Spencer despite being older. “Get a lawyer. You’re never seeing her again, you dick.”
Spencer hangs up on your husband, and you stare at him with parted lips and wide eyes. No one has ever stood up for you like this before. He looks like he is going to get up, and you grab at his arms to stop him.
“Please don’t leave me,” you beg.
“I’m not going anywhere.” He pulls you into his lap and kisses your head. “I’m not a doctor, Y/N. You need to go to the hospital.”
“As long as you come with me. Tomorrow. Tonight, just hold me.”
“You got it.”
With ease and comfort, he scoops you into his arms and brings you to his bedroom. You’ve been with him for nearly an hour but it’s the safest you’ve felt in a long time.

Kloktober 2024 Day 22
Too much booze or too much sugar
In Dethwedding, Skwisgaar mentioned that he had to take care of a wasted Toki before so I like to imagine it's not that much of an uncommon occurrence. Just the idea that Toki is still kind of seen by the others as Skwisgaar's problem appeals to me a lot, lol.
Additionally, I think alcohol awakes contradictory feelings inside Toki. Feelings that he doesn't want to acknowledge otherwise.
Toki felt the contents of his stomach force their way out of him, his body propelling itself forwards. He retched pathetically inside the toilet, expelling whatever else he had left inside him with labored breaths.
“Just lets it go.” Skwisgaar said, holding Toki’s hair to prevent it from getting stained with vomit. Almost as if obeying him, Toki’s abdominal muscles contracted, making him throw up again. “Theres, theres…”
Unable to trust his body, Toki remained there still, looking into the dirty toilet with wet eyes. As seconds went by, he grew assured he was safe from any more vomiting. His breathing was also returning to normalcy. Toki wiped his lips and nose and sighed in relief, burying his face into his other arm.
“Yous done?”
“Ja.” Toki said, voice muffled.
“How ams you feelingks?”
“Likes shits.” Toki chuckled, throwing his head back to gaze at Skwisgaar.
Skwisgaar furrowed his brows. “When ams you gonna learns? Every goddamns times-”
“Oh, shush, shush…” Toki silenced him and decided to settle his head in Skwisgaar’s lap. The latter groaned but didn’t do much to stop him. Skwisgaar was less reluctant to physical closeness when it was just the two of them.
And that was certainly the case right now, huddled in the toilet stall of a restroom of some bar whose name Toki couldn’t recall right now. No way in hell the other three would come checking in on them, they were too busy partying with a bunch of strangers.
“Why ams I de ones dats gotsa takes care of yous sloppies mess…” Skwisgaar grumbled, not even looking at Toki.
If Toki was feeling any snappy, he would’ve replied that it was because everyone knew he was a doormat. That they took advantage of him because he was incapable of refusing a task if cornered to it. But honestly, he was glad it was Skwisgaar and not anybody else’s, so he simply smiled while watching him complain about his bandmates.
Most of the time, drinking made him more feisty towards everyone and especially Skwisgaar. Other times, drinking made him feel funny in his tummy when he gazed at Skwisgaar. As if he were only capable of doing extremes, either finding Skwisgaar the most unbearable human being alive or being utterly captivated by…everything about the guitarist.
Skwisgaar seemed to notice his eyes and he glared at him. “Whats?”
Shame was not a concept familiar to Toki when he was inebriated. He just kept staring at Skwisgaar’s features, wondering how it was possible for someone to be as attractive as he was talented. Even under the flickering and broken lights, the damp and sweaty hair sticking to the back of his neck and the pronounced eyebags from severe lack of sleep, Skwisgaar was the most beautiful thing Toki had ever seen.
And whereas he’d normally be jealous of that, tonight he was admiring. Tonight, his ego took a backseat in the neverending spectacle that was Skwisgaar Skwigelf.
“Yous just gonna stares like a dildos de whole times?” Skwisgaar asked, the irritation seeping in his voice.
Toki grinned lazily, stretching his arms. “I ams drunks and you cants be mads at me.”
Skwisgaar snorted. “Says who?”
“Mes.”
“Pffts.” Skwisgaar rolled his eyes. However, he was wasted too, and it was no fun to be mad while drunk. “Yous a pains in de ass, you knows dat?” He said, trying to hold back a smirk.
Toki wanted to retort that so was Skwisgaar but he felt so stupidly euphoric all of sudden, so safe and protected. With his head between Skwisgaar’s thighs and Skwisgaar gazing at him, it really was like nothing else mattered. Nothing besides them right here and right now.
And that feeling stretched to the end of his fingertips, making him reach for Skwisgaar. His hand held Skwisgaar’s, fingers tangling together and palms pressing against each other. Skwisgaar raised his eyebrow, though he said nothing about it and that only made the fuzziness inside Toki increase, as stupid as it was.
Skwisgaar’s hand was so warm, unlike the cold concrete under them. He was always warm in the most unexpected of times, Toki thought. Always confusing Toki about who he really was, about what really laid under those seemingly distant blue eyes.
However, when he dared to take another look, he saw himself reflected. A distorted and goofy version of himself, with a ridiculous silhouette and shape. Shaky and flimsy, the polar opposite of how Skwisgaar appeared to Toki right now. Sharp, handsome and so painfully real that it was clashing with the dream-like texture of Toki’s current state.
But that was exactly how they saw each other, wasn’t it? And it was exactly why Toki refused to call the tremor in his chest for what it was, and why he had avoided doing so all these years. Why he only allowed himself to feel it when he lacked self-control like right now.
“What do I have to do…” Toki whispered to himself in his native language.
Skwisgaar blinked. “Whats?”
Toki giggled, gesturing at Skwisgaar to come closer. And so he did, shortening the space between them with curiosity. And it would’ve been so easy for Toki to close it himself. To stop lying to himself and take a leap of faith…
The distance between them, however, was not just physical, Toki was reminded when he saw Skwisgaar’s confused stare.
Something inside him swelled and he shoved Skwisgaar’s dumb face away from him, laughing. “Yous looks stupids.”
Annoyed, Skwisgaar pulled away. “Yous stupid.” He said with a frown.
Toki smiled, even more amused by the fact that Skwisgaar had no idea how right he was. “I ams.”
Music blaring in the distance, Skwisgaar offered Toki a judgemental look. As if he was trying to figure out what the hell was going on through Toki’s head. Eventually, he sighed and looked away. “Idiots.” He mumbled.
The next few seconds remained in relative silence. The ecstasy was slowly washing away, replaced by the permanent inadequacy Toki was more or less used to, exponentially increased because of the alcohol.
“Skwisgaar.”
“Euh?”
Toki hesitated a little. ““If ams always an idiots…” He trailed off, unsure. “Wills you alsways takes care of old Tokis?”
Skwisgaar’s eyes returned to him, though they almost seemed accusatory this time. “I guess.” He shrugged. “I don’ts really has a choice.”
Toki bit down his bottom lip, trying really hard not to feel so relieved over such a non committal response.
It occurred to him that maybe there was nothing he could do to seize the gap. That maybe these semi-private moments were as close as he’d ever get.
And maybe that should be good enough for him, he suggested to himself, lightly squeezing Skwisgaar’s hand to reassure himself.
There was a squeeze back, though Toki could’ve hallucinated it from his intoxication and relentless hope. Just like he could’ve sworn Skwisgaar was glancing at him, but when he looked at him again, the guy was focusing on an arbitrary spot on the floor.
Yeah, maybe that had to be enough for him.

as much as i understand shigaraki's death, narratively speaking, i'm also so goddamn tired of society needing martyrs.
what made me fall in love with shigaraki is that he's an excellent villain. all his character development built towards him becoming a more competent, driven, effective villain. he became an incredible symbol of fear just as deku became an incredible symbol of peace. this is who he was, in entirety. there is nothing else shigaraki could be.
when shigaraki told izuku, in his final moments, to pass on the message to spinner that "shigaraki fought to destroy until the very end," it really emphasized how it would have dishonored him to be vegeta'd, as it were.
shigaraki made it his mission to tear down hero society. this was his noble mission. this is what made him a hero to the league of villains. because he saw the systemic evils, he saw the evils that hurt his friends, and sought to destroy it all.
there's something to be said about trying to change someone who doesn't want to change, but for shigaraki, it was more than just trying to rehabilitate him from mass murdering. because to him, and the league of villains, what he was doing WAS the right thing. to tell shigaraki not to destroy would be akin to telling deku not to save. "you may not understand, but that's what makes me the villain."
there was a binary choice here: either he'd be left free to complete his mission and destroy everything, or he'd be stopped, permanently.
Izuku, by reaching tenko's heart, but ultimately stopping shigaraki, was choosing the only third option he had: declaring that he would not let all of society be destroyed, but not without promising that he'd do everything he can to reform it here on out.
shigaraki destroys. deku saves.
that's it. that's the bnha narrative in its most basic foundation. horikoshi did not fail to tell that story.
I think what ultimately fucking sucks about this ending is that it's too realistic. society often DOES need a martyr - or often martyrs - to realize that they fucked up, that they let an evil persist too long. they need a shocking enough tragedy to point to and swear they'll never let it happen again. society needs to be rocked to its very core before people can be motivated to get their heads out of their asses and work together towards reforms.
and that in itself is an evil, that people can't see how much harm they're causing or condoning without some horrific tragedy.
i think we're all mad at horikoshi for failing to follow through on the story because we didn't WANT the realistic ending. we wanted the hopeful one. the against all odds one. we didn't want another story about society using the image of martyrs to get its shit together. because we already know that story. and we're so so so tired of it.
especially when we know it only leads to a temporary peace.
because people forget. they put in enough reforms to feel good, and then get comfortable and ignorant again. when does that cycle end? when can we finally notice the evil in time to PREVENT it? so that everyone, 'heroes and villains,' get a happy ending?
I think our anger with the bnha ending is good. we want different - not just in fiction, but in real life. we're willing to hope for different. we should hold onto hope and fight for different.
#bnha#bnha spoilers#shigaraki tomura#tenko shimura#midoriya izuku#deku#toga himiko#league of villains#idk i've been so fucking conflicted over this ending#but i wasn't willing to write horikoshi off as a bad writer#i still think bnha is incredibly well written#and honestly#the best art the best stories#are the ones that provoke emotion - that make people uncomfortable#if bnha ended a super fluffy everyone's happy shounen#or a super typical all the bad guys were defeated yay shounen#where's the impact of that?#this ending was controversial in a very uncomfortable way#and that should provoke deep conversations that lead to real life considerations#(idk maybe i'm taking my special interest too seriously#but horikoshi had my attention from 'not all men are created equal'#so i'm pretty damn sure he meant this story to reflect and impact real life)

Hi, I love all your Spider and Quaritch Fics. Can we get drunk Spider One shot talking about the McCosker?
Somewhere at the back of his brain, Spider knew he was talking bull. He knew he should probably stop, but he just couldn't quite find it in himself to care at this particular moment. "They never liked me," he announced, a slight slur contaminating his words. "And it's fine, I didn't like them either, to be honest." He huffed in amusement, looking towards the group of recoms that had huddled around the fire. He was expecting to see empathetic nods and laughter, but the firelight only illuminated looks of scepticism and, here and there, a smirk.
Zdinarsk replied first. "Sounds like we'd get on," she grumbled. Quaritch cast her a mutinous look, but Zdinarsk didn't see. "It's good to know this is all nothing new to you!"
Spider flipped her off with his left hand, while bringing the oversized beer can up to his lips for another swig. "Eh," he said. "You're not so bad."
At this, Quaritch's eyebrows collapsed into a frown, while the rest of the group shared looks of surprise at this revelation.
"Did I just hear that right?" Walker joked to Fike.
"I never thought I'd see the day!" Wainfleet cheered, raising his arms up as if to praise Eywa. "Budget Tarzan doesn't hate us anymore!"
"Pfft," Spider scoffed. "I wouldn't go that far. You're just nicer than the McCoskers, that's all."
"Jesus, kid," Walker exclaimed.
"The hell do you mean by that?" Quaritch said, leaning closer as a kind of pensiveness shrouded him.
Spider shrugged. He didn't feel like boosting anyone's ego any further than he already had. The buzz from the beer was starting to make him tired, and he wasn't interested in pursuing the topic anymore. He played distractedly with the moss at his feet, shredding it between his fingertips.
A rough boot to his thigh brought him back to the present. "Hey!" Quaritch snapped. "I asked you a question."
"Ow!" Spider bemoaned, but he wasn't really hurt. He lifted the beer can up to his lips again, but Quaritch snatched it away. At the man's glare, Spider realised he'd have to entertain this. "What?!"
"You can't just drop that the other side of the war has treated you better than your own goddamn foster parents and expect me to be cool with that."
Spider stared blankly at Quaritch. This was the first time they'd spoken about Spider's parental situation and it was beginning to sound a lot like the recom was getting protective. "You care, or something?"
If he wasn't buzzed from the alcohol, he wouldn't have missed the awkward silence that blanketed the camp, as each recom sat back on their haunches and watched the Colonel for his reaction.
As it was, it didn't seem like Quaritch knew what to say to this. He seethed, watching Spider intently.
Luckily, Spider didn't notice any of this, and spoke next of his own volition. "Nash is an asshole. They both have their own lives but he used to get so angry the moment I interfered with that, you know?"
"What was he mad at you for, existing?" Zdinarsk asked.
"I guess," Spider shrugged. "They had their own kids after a while and it was just easier for me to look after myself."
"No kidding," Wainfleet said reproachfully, eyeing Spider's matted hair and unkempt loincloth.
"So I started hanging out with Jake. I used to think it was so cool when he visited the shacks. Soon as I was old enough, I was outta there. S'how I met Kiri and Lo'ak."
"Your little forest friends?"
Spider side eyed Quaritch, but nodded.
“They keep out of our way, no harm’ll come to them.”
Perhaps that was Quaritch’s way of trying to reassure Spider he didn’t want to murder his only friends, but it was little comfort to Spider. “Why do they get a free pass? You’re fine with attacking and murdering everyone else but you draw the line at Kiri and Lo’ak? I’m honoured.”
“Ain’t nothing to you with you, kid. We’re not the monsters you think we are.”
Spider scoffed, but Wainfleet chose that moment to pipe up. “Hey, he just said he thinks we’re alright!”
“That is not what I said,” Spider grumbled.
Wainfleet made a disparaging noise. “Hm, I think it is kid, and you’re just in denial already.”
“It is not.” Truthfully, Spider had already forgotten exactly what he’d said - the conversation from the past couple of minutes had already merged into a bit of a fuzzy blur as a new wave of tiredness swept over him. “All I said is that I’d rather be around even your crusty asses than the McCoskers.”
On the other side of the campfire, Wainfleet sobered. He'd been teasing the kid in earnest so far, amusedly listening and winding him up when the situation called for it, but now he hesitated. It didn't sound right at all that Spider would make that confession, least of all surrounded by the very people he should hate. The corporal's eyes drifted from Spider's drunken form over to the Colonel. Quaritch had been watching the boy, but now seemed to be contemplating Spider's words himself. Their eyes locked across the fire. They didn't need words to communicate in that moment. Wainfleet had known Quaritch long enough to tell that Spider's revelations had unnerved him. He was able to hide it well, and Wainfleet knew that nobody else would pick up on it.
"Hey, get over here and let me teach you Rummy," Wainfleet called out to the boy, reaching for his deck of cards as he did so.
Spider groaned and made a face, but that didn't matter. It was the glint of gratitude in the Colonel's eyes that was why he offered.

i'm loving all your vampire posting lottie! if you're ever so compelled i'd love to hear what you make of the books vs the show and if there are any book things you'd especially like to see done on the show! (also, bookwise, are you a lestat girl or an armand girl or a louis/marius/david/akasha/claudia girl or or or)
as someone who tried to read Interview with the Vampire thrice (THRICE!!!) pre-AMC show revival and simply could not get through it (it is melancholy), I cannot BELIEVE how down bad I am for these books right now. I keep seeing bad reviews on goodreads and girding my loins for each new book expecting the quality to nosedive, but 1 star bitch WHERE? WHERE??? I AM HAVING THE TIME OF MY GODDAMN LIFE
in terms of books vs show, honestly after a point the books are kind of Unadaptable unless they radically change the main cast, vibe and format of the show every single season, and the changes they made to IWTV were good to the point of sending me fucking insane so they can just keep on doing whatever their little hearts desire with the source material imo!!! howmever I DO have some suggestions for the upcoming seasons:
Lestat crying twice an ep (non-negotiable)
I would kind of love it if Lestat is the only character who tells the truth. the most reliablest narrator and normal girl to ever live. and yet every time he says something like "I killed a pack of wolves single-handedly" or "I woke Those Who Must Be Kept by playing violin" or "I snog my mother with tongue" Daniel is just sitting there like "............riiiight."
Gabrielle. Gabrielle Gabrielle Gabrielle. mainly I would like to smash cut to Gabrielle in the middle of really intense Lestat/everyone else scenes and she's just like peacefully sleeping in the ground... strolling through a distant jungle... sitting on a mountain looking at the stars in silence...
EXCEPT that one scene where she pulls up to Lestat's concert like she's in 2 Fast 2 Furious
it'll be interesting to see how they adapt Queen of the Damned because so little of it is actually from Lestat's pov, and all of it is amazing and cannot be cut out: [Stefon voice] the Twins, Jesse, specifically Jesse being haunted in Louis and Lestat's old New Orleans house, everyone hanging out/playing out terrible interpersonal dramas at the Sonoma compound, NIGHT ISLAND...!
I cannot stress this enough: GHOST CLAUDIA.
I want them to do Body Thief. fuck it, why not. must haves are Mojo, a random hunk with a PhD in Sam Reid's mannerisms playing Lestat for 6/8 episodes, Lestat nearly dying 25 times cos he pilots his human body like a drunk muppet, and, most importantly, Lestat BEGGING David Talbot for some old man pussy
oh and an entire episode set on a cruise ship
my favourite scene from the whole of Body Thief was Lestat turning David at the end against his will cos it was genuinely quite awful and frightening but also. um. you know. awooga
if they include Gretchen, then I would like the opposite of my Gabrielle request for everything post-Body Thief: whenever there's a peaceful, quiet scene it smash cuts to the wilds of South America where Gretchen is absolutely stark raving mad on the floor of a chapel with stigmata
I can't even begin to think about how they'd adapt Memnoch, but regardless I want them to keep the scene where Lestat drinks someone's period blood. thanks
also his cunty little lilac-tinted sunglasses that he will not fucking stop talking about
and finally, human Armand getting drunk and falling into the Grand Canal
bookwise, I am a Lestat girl the house down boots... I love his over-dramatic idiot crybaby ass!!!!! although the final page of Memnoch the Devil made me burst into tears and cry my whole face off until I confirmed that Lestat comes back as the narrator in future books soooo maybe like calls to like. self recognition through the other, etc. I do also get a shot of pure joy every time Armand shows up, especially in Lestat's pov. 'ah, there he was, the Botticelli angel, so beautiful. I fucking hated him. we kissed.' sis THEE dopamine.
currently suffering because I want to a) stop reading the series immediately so I can go back and reread The Vampire Lestat, and yet also b) never ever stop reading the series for love nor money. please help me budget this my family is dying
#I BET YOU'RE SORRY YOU ASKED#Interview with the Vampire#answered#books#also the fact that the show Lets Them Fuck#Lestat/David... David/Louis????... David/ARMAND?!?!?!?!#oooookay lesgo#p.s. I am 180 pages into TVA#the vampire chronicles spoilers#I GUESS

movie nights iv
Summary: You gather the Woodsboro survivors to go over your suspect list. Maybe you're just trying to impress Tara. That's for you to know and no one else to find out.
Word Count: 6.1K Warnings: swearing, Scream levels of violence Pairing: Tara Carpenter x Reader (pt.i) (pt.ii) (pt.iii) (pt.iv) (pt.v) (pt.vi) (pt.vii) (pt.viii)
The door was open. It was wide open, all that rat bastard had to do was walk right through it so you could kill him yourself. No fire escape, no hideaway, only the door. Why hadn't he walked through the goddamn-
"-You're not listening to me."
You blinked once before looking back over to your Aunt Sherry. By some miracle - it was still unclear if it was a good miracle or not - she had been the paramedic on scene. She hadn't truly questioned you yet, but you knew it was bound to happen. Your family was nothing if not nosy.
"What did you say?" You asked, fighting against the natural slip of an accent that would mimic Aunt Sherry's perfectly.
She gave you a pity-filled look. "Did he get ya anywhere else?"
"No," you instantly replied with a shake of your head. "That's it."
"Then you're all set," she said as she went to pat your shoulder. Thankfully she caught herself in time and patted your back instead. "And you don't want to go to Mercy?"
"Absolutely not," you mumbled as you hopped out of the back of the ambulance. "And don't tell Ma or Pop!"
"It's already on the news, kiddo," she said with a shrug. "If they know, they know."
"You're good for nothing," you shouted as you backpedaled to where Tara and her bunch were still standing. "See ya at mass."
Aunt Sherry waved at you and shook her head, but otherwise let you go. You looked down at the stitches now keeping your bicep together. Only five; it could've been much worse. If that was the bastard you were up against, he wouldn't be much of a challenge. Couldn't even swing a knife properly. Talk about pathetic.
You mouthed a “hey” at Tara when you finally got closer. It was cold now that the adrenaline was wearing off and you were finally feeling the cold autumn air. Would have been nice to have some sort of jacket. Or your shirt that Tara was still wearing. Well, you supposed everyone could enjoy seeing you half-naked. You would just freeze to death, it was fine.
“You okay?” Tara asked quietly, her eyes darting to the stitched up wound.
“Course I am, sweetheart,” you said with a shrug. You didn’t have the heart to tell her that it was starting to sting like a sonofabitch.
“Are you hurt?” Sam asked, and both you and Tara turned to look at her. If you were cold before, you were frozen under her icy stare.
“I mean… I’ve been worse,” you said as you did your best to avoid her gaze.
“Good,” she said. You didn’t have time to brace yourself before she slapped your uninjured arm. “What the hell were you thinking?”
“Ouch!” You complained. “The hell are you getting mad at me for?”
“I told you to stay away from my sister,” Sam continued. “You could have gotten her killed.”
“You think I called your stupid little serial killer?” You asked; you could feel the accent coming back in full force. All it did was make you more frustrated. “Isn’t he supposed to call me?”
“Guys-”
“-Nothing happened until you got Tara alone,” she interrupted Danny. “And that’s just a coincidence?”
You scrunched your face up and shrugged your shoulders. “Yes?” You said. “Why would I want anything to do with your psycho killer?”
“Hey, that’s enough,” Tara said, moving to hold Sam’s arm.
It didn’t stop her. “We were doing just fine until you came along.” Sam jabbed her finger into your chest.
“You really think the two ‘a youse were doin’ fine?” You asked. “You’re trust issues and repressed trauma in human form.”
“Hey,” Tara scolded, her eyes now on you.
“Listen, I’m sorry, but I’m right,” you said, holding your hands up in mock surrender. “And you can be suspicious all you want, but why the fuck would I interrupt myself finally gettin’ laid for the first time in months?”
“Oh my god,” Tara whispered to herself as she turned her back to you.
“I have priorities too,” you defended.
“Fine,” Sam said quickly. “If I say I believe you, will you please shut up?”
“Yes,” you said.
You all finally fell silent, Sam still giving you a look that meant she did not believe you, but at least she had stopped arguing. Danny was giving you that stupid “I’m not mad, just disappointed” look, and Tara still wouldn’t face you. What was going on in the world? You were just supposed to get laid, you weren’t supposed to be dealing with… whatever the fuck all of this was.
“So,” you finally said as police continued to mill around you. “What do you guys normally do now?”
“Seriously?” Tara asked, finally turning back to look at you.
“I’m no Ghostface expert,” you said defensively, again. “Do we just… go on as normal?” A chorus of groans followed your question. “Because I still need to go clean up the kitchen.”
“I do too,” Danny said, looking at Sam for a moment before turning back to you.
Unfortunately for him, Tara noticed and she stood up straighter.
“What was my sister doing in your apartment anyway?” She asked him. His mouth flopped open and closed like a fish out of water.
“Oh how the tables have turned,” you said as you crossed your arms over your chest and cocked your hip. “About damn time.”
“I was helping him carry up groceries,” Sam said with a slight shake of her head.
“Oh, so you can go into a stranger’s apartment and I can’t even have someone I know over?” Tara asked.
“Okay, hang on,” you said, somehow turning into the middle man. This whole night was turning into a disaster. You needed a drink. Or five.
“No, she doesn’t get to accuse you when she’s acting suspicious,” Tara said with a shake of her head before looking at Sam and Danny again. “So do you know him or not?”
“Tara-”
“-no, Sam,” she interrupted. “What is he to you?”
You locked eyes with Danny at the same time Tara and Sam locked eyes. Part of you wanted to just break the awkward tension and say Danny was with Sam. It would get Tara off his back and you could all go about the real problem; finally getting you back into a shirt so you wouldn’t freeze your tits off.
Sam sighed. “He and I are… a thing.”
“I knew it,” Tara said softly.
“Tara-”
“-I would’ve been happy for you,” she said. “If you hadn’t accused my partner of being Ghostface.”
“I’m your partner now?” You asked, perking up immediately.
“Shut up,” she said quickly.
“Yes ma’am,” you said, snapping your jaw shut. God you loved when she was mean.
“If I may-”
“-You may not,” Tara said, turning to face Danny. “I don’t want to hear from any of you right now.”
“How about from me?”
All four of you shut your mouths and looked around, finally seeing Detective Bailey walking toward your little group. You sighed and looked around. The last person you wanted to see at the moment was him. Well, okay, the last person you wanted to see was Ghostface, but Detective Bailey was a very close second.
“Why am I not surprised to see you here?” He asked, clapping you on the shoulder of your hurt arm. Oh fuck it hurt.
“Always a pleasure, Detective,” you said politely through a forced smile.
“You sound just like your old man,” he said.
“Bet I do,” you mumbled as you turned your head away.
“I’m going to need the two of you to come down for a talk,” Bailey said, pointing to you and Tara.
“Not us?” Danny asked.
“I’m coming too,” Sam said without waiting for Bailey to answer.
“You’ll be waiting in a separate room,” Bailey said. You didn’t blame him for not even arguing; if anyone knew Sam, they knew to just roll with the punches. “Come on.”
You followed him, Tara quick behind you. With a glance, you saw Danny and Sam talking for a moment before he backed away toward the apartment. She, on the other hand, caught up in only a few strides and forced herself in between you and Tara. If it hadn’t been for the whole just-nearly-getting-murdered thing, you would’ve teased her about her territorial tendencies.
“Don’t put me back there with her,” you said quietly when Bailey tried to put you in the back of the squad car. Right beside Sam. “She’s not my biggest fan.”
“Neither am I,” he said with a smile before pushing your head down and shoving you into the car. “Get in.”
You practically fell into the car, your knees banging against the front seat. It was still cold as hell and now your arm was strained. A quick glance down showed a few little spots of blood. Great. Now that was split again too. Why couldn’t anyone just let you grab some clothes?
The entire ride to the station you could feel Sam’s gaze on you. No, not a gaze, it was a full-blown glare. If you had died in that apartment, you didn’t think she would’ve been too upset about the fact. And Tara was being diplomatic and keeping her mouth shut, looking out the window as the city passed by. It was smart.
“So,” you started, “did you and Danny have a nice night?”
“Shut up,” Sam mumbled.
“Okay,” you said quickly.
Well, at least no one could say you didn’t try.
It was a short drive to the station, and you felt like you were going to combust under Sam’s eyes. The scrutiny didn’t stop when you pulled into the station, and it certainly didn’t stop when you walked in. If looks could kill? Yeah, it was a real thing. It might not kill, but it definitely made you want to die.
“Hey, Y/N,” Linda at reception said when you walked in.
“Hey, babe,” you said with a wink, walking over to lean on the desk. “How’re the little rascals?”
“They’re good,” she said, leaning forward on her arms. “Found you a girl yet?”
“Think so,” you said, fully putting on the charm. “Right over there,” you gestured your head behind you.
“I’m guessin’ it’s not the one givin’ you the “eat shit and die” look?”
You both turned your head to look at Sam, who had now crossed her arms over her chest. Tara wasn’t even trying to stop her; you didn’t blame her. Samantha Carpenter was a force of nature that no one wanted to fight against. Tara had probably learned that after the first Ghostface attack in Woodsboro.
“Good guess,” you mumbled.
“Keep moving,” Bailey said as he walked past you with Tara and Sam hot on his heels.
“We’ll catch up another time,” you said, sending Linda a wink and smile.
“Countin’ on it,” she replied before blowing a kiss in your direction.
Your brother was going to kill you for flirting with his wife.
It was a familiar walk back to Bailey’s interrogation room. While Sam was directed to a separate room, you walked in ahead of Tara and sat down in the seat that you had secretly designated as your own. At the rate you frequented, you might as well just carve your name into the wood. Just so Bailey would always have a reminder of you whether he wanted it or not.
“Here,” he said when he walked in and threw something at you. You flinched, but caught it. “Put that on.”
“Thanks,” you mumbled as you pulled the NYPD shirt over your head. You sneezed. “Sorry,” you said when you wiped your nose. “I’m allergic to pigs.”
“Stop,” Tara whispered to you.
“What can you tell me about tonight?” He asked, completely ignoring your comment.
“We were just having dinner and watching a movie,” you said with a shrug. “Bada bing, bada boom, little rat bastard interrupts.”
“Did you find him?” Tara asked. Why was everyone ignoring you? You were the one with the injuries, right? Shouldn’t you have more of a say than anyone else? Maybe you had a lot more to learn about this whole Ghostface thing than you had thought.
“We didn’t find anything,” Bailey said with a shrug. “Got anyone who has it out for you?”
They both turned to look at you after the question had been voiced. You looked between the both of them. Oh for fuck’s sake, now it was just getting insulting. There was no winning for you, was there? First you’re interrupted, then you’re attacked, then interrogated by not only Sam but now Bailey too? Well, fuck you, you guessed.
“Why are the two ‘a youse looking at me?” You asked. “I stay out of trouble.”
They both gave you exasperated looks.
“I mostly stay out of trouble,” you corrected.
“Was your sister accounted for?” Bailey asked.
“She was across the alley with a guy,” Tara answered with a shake of her head.
“Danny,” you filled in. “He didn’t do this.”
“And neither did Sam,” she said.
“Did he target one of you more than the other?” He asked.
“He turned to face Tara,” you said as you recalled the event. Most of it was a blur, but you could pick out one or two pieces. “But he didn’t have enough time to really target anyone.”
“Then you need to stay safe,” he said directly to Tara. “I would guess he’s going after your Woodsboro crew.”
“Typical,” Tara huffed, falling back against her chair.
“What do we do?” You asked, doing the opposite of her and leaning forward on the table. “Twiddle our thumbs until you maybe catch the guy?”
“Are you calling us incompetant?”
“Yeah,” you said with a nod. “I am.”
“You’re going to go home and let us do our jobs,” he said.
“And if you don’t do your jobs?” You asked with a tilt of your head.
“You’re still going to stay out of it.” He wasn’t even looking at Tara anymore. “Do I make myself clear?”
“Crystal,” you answered.
You kept your eyes locked on his. It wasn’t your first stare down with Bailey, and it certainly wouldn’t be your last. You knew you were on his permanent shit list, but quite frankly you didn’t care. His group of piss poor detectives had let you all down time and time again, you weren’t going to trust him with your life.
And you certainly weren’t going to trust him with Tara’s.
“You’re both free to go,” he finally said. “We’ll be in touch.”
“I bet you will,” you said, but stood up anyway.
Tara left the room before you, and you sent one more glare at Bailey before following suit. To no one’s surprise, Sam was already waiting. She checked on Tara and gave you a once-over before starting the walk out of the station. You gave Linda a smile and a little wave before walking outside.
Where the news stations were waiting.
It was absolute pandemonium. Too many voices, too many flashing lights, you were amazed the Carpenters weren’t fazed. Well, you were amazed but not surprised. You knew all the shit they had to deal with since Woodsboro. They were probably used to all the commotion that came with being survivors of a brutal series of killings.
“Don’t talk to them,” you said as you quickly got between them and the reporters. “Keep walking, I’ll take care of it.”
You turned around and held your arms behind you to keep a hold of Tara and did what you knew would work. As your godmother had taught you, you started swearing up a storm. Every word you could think of to form the most colourful string of curses you could come up with. The looks of pure agitation and frustration on the reporters’ faces was enough to make you smile.
“That doesn’t work on me, sweetheart.”
Your smile fell when Gale walked into your view.
“Now’s not the time,” you said with a pointed look. “We can talk later.”
“An exclusive?” She asked, following behind you as you pushed Sam and Tara down the sidewalk and away from the station. And the reporters.
“Without your cronie,” you said.
Gale gave you a look of pure exasperation, but only a moment later waved for her cameraman to leave. You waited for him to be out of earshot before you gestured for her to follow you, and she instantly fell into step with you as you both caught up to the Carpenters. They didn’t seem as impressed, but at least they knew her.
“Are you okay?” She asked you. “I heard you got hurt.”
“Just a scratch,” you said with a shrug. “Far less than you lot have gone through.”
“I had wanted to keep you out of all of this,” she said.
“Well,” you sighed. “Seems I’m in it now.”
“What are you doing here, Gale?” Sam asked, turning around quickly and stopping the four of you in your tracks. “I think you know we’re not too happy with you.”
“No one is ever happy with me, sweetheart,” Gale said with her News Smile. “I’m actually here to check up on Y/N.”
“With your cameraman?”
“How do you know Y/N?” Tara and Sam asked at the same time.
Everyone turned to look at you, who was in the process of biting your fingers off. You froze under the scrutiny, your hands slowly falling back down to your side where you shoved them in your pants pockets. It seemed like you were just going to be interrogated for the rest of your life.
“I’m their godmother,” Gale said when it was clear you were a little too frazzled to talk.
“Excuse me?” Tara asked.
“My Pop went to college with her,” you finally managed to say. “Suppose he liked her enough to make her part of the family.”
“And you just failed to mention that little fact?” Tara asked, her arms crossed defensively over her chest. Oops.
“Didn’t think it mattered,” you said with a shrug, “I’m not Woodsboro.”
“Can we focus?” Sam asked. “What do you want, Gale?”
“What happened?” Gale asked. “No recorder, no camera, just tell me.”
The three of you looked at each other and sighed. They might not trust Gale - which was understandable, she had written a book when she said she wouldn’t - but you did. She might not be blood, but she was family. You gave the Carpenters time to stop you before turning to face her and telling her what happened.
You ommitted the little detail that you were mid-lay.
“I’m going to go do some digging,” she said with a dazed nod of her head. “You do the same?”
“Yes ma’am,” you said with a shrug. “I’ve got a few things to go over.”
“Good,” she said before looking back at Sam and Tara. “Stay safe.” She looked at you. “All of you.”
All of you nodded and mumbled an agreement before bidding Gale goodbye. You watched and waited for her to be gone before turning back around to face the others. Now that everything had mostly calmed down, you were starting to focus on the real issue at hand again.
“What now?” Tara asked, her eyes flicking between you and Sam.
“We need to meet up with Chad and Mindy,” Sam said. “Fill them in.”
“I’ll head to my apartment,” you said. Tara opened her mouth to protest almost instantly. “I need to go over a few things.”
“We need to stick together,” she said.
“We can all meet up at my apartment tomorrow night,” you said with a gentle voice. “I’ve got some digging of my own to do.”
“No one even knows where you live,” Sam said. She looked at Tara and waited to see if she knew. Thankfully, she didn’t, and Sam let out a barely noticeable sigh of relief.
“I’ll call you from a burner and tell you the address,” you said. Both girls looked at you with raised brows. “Can’t trace a burner, and it guarantees it won’t be mirrored.”
“That’s some sketchy shit,” Tara said. “How do you know this stuff?”
“Got a few tricks up my sleeve,” you shrugged. “Still not Ghostface,” you defended when Sam gave you a judgmental look.
“Then we’ll see you tomorrow,” Sam said. “Come on.”
She turned around to leave, and you stood there watching her go. Tara hesitated, looking between you and Sam. As much as you wanted her to stick around, you knew she needed to be with her gang. No one could understand them the way they understood each other, and one little half-hearted attack didn’t make you one of them. You knew that.
“Go on,” you said softly with a gentle smile. “I’ll see you tomorrow.”
She looked at you for a little too long, long enough to have you shifting your weight from foot to foot. You inhaled deeply, trying your best to calm your racing thoughts and pulse. Tara stepped forward slowly and grabbed the front of your shirt, pulling you down just enough to plant a gentle kiss on your cheek.
“Stay safe,” she said. “I mean it.”
“Yes ma’am,” you said with another smile.
Tara took that as good enough and turned around, jogging to catch up with Sam. You could see the both of them talking, and Sam’s arm wrapped protectively around Tara’s shoulders. It was sweet. You couldn’t even imagine what all they went through on a regular basis. All the chaos was enough to make anyone insane. They were lucky to have each other.
You shook the thought out of your head and started the long walk back to your apartment. If they were all coming over tomorrow night, you would need to have all your ducks in a row. No way were you inviting veterans into your home only to look like a fool.
—---
By the time everyone showed up at your apartment, you were running on 43 hours of being awake, your seventh espresso, and your 13th RedBull. Were you going insane? Yes. Could you smell colours? Absolutely. In fact, red smelled like black pepper. Or maybe that was the disgusting takeout you had been munching on for the past nine hours.
Damn, you needed to clean. Thank god Garret wouldn’t be back from his parent’s house until next weekend.
The knock on your front door pulled you back to the current situation. Right. You were going to show everyone what you had discovered. Which, not to brag, but it was pretty impressive. You managed to sweep the majority of the trash into a trash bag and put it off to the side before tripping over papers on the way to the door.
“Hey,” you said with a frazzled smile when you threw the door open and saw the entire gang standing there.
“When was the last time you slept?” Anika asked.
“Or showered,” Chad chimed in.
“Just get in here,” you said as you stepped aside. “I’m definitely on to something.”
“Good, because I have my own theories,” Mindy said with a smile. She was the first to enter.
You said hi to every one of them as they came in. Anika gave you a chaste kiss on the cheek and Quinn patted your unhurt arm. When Tara finally walked in, at the very end of the line, she gave you a look that you… couldn’t quite describe. She didn’t look sad. You supposed “worried” was a much better descriptor.
“You didn’t even change out of the shirt,” she said, pulling lightly on the NYPD shirt that you were still sporting.
“Shit,” you mumbled, “you’re right.”
“Go change,” she said, and you nodded before shutting and locking the door behind her.
“Get settled,” you told everyone as you walked into your room. You left the door open as you dug for something to wear. “All ‘a youse stayed safe, right?” You called.
“Safe and sound,” Anika called back.
“Good,” you said, tossing the NYPD shirt onto the bed. You were still trying to orient the new shirt as you walked back into the living room. “I’ve got some information you’re all going to love.”
“Who is that guy staring at us from across the alley?” Chad asked.
“What?” You said as you finally pulled the shirt over your head. You walked over to the window to see who he was talking about. “Oh, that’s Tony.”
“Who?” Sam asked.
“My older brother,” you said, shooting a wave at him. He waved back and smiled. “After the other night, I asked him to keep watch. His bedroom window watches the fire escape outside my room.”
“How many brothers do you even have?” Quinn asked, mostly to herself.
“Five,” you answered anyway, “and two sisters.”
“Are you fucking serious?” Tara asked incredulously.
“What can I say,” you shrugged. “We’re Catholic.”
“And you trust Tony?” Mindy asked. “Like really trust him?”
“With my life,” you said. “Now, everyone sit down, I’ve got a few things to show you.” You looked around. “Where’s Ethan?”
“Econ,” Chad answered.
You looked around for a moment, collecting your thoughts. “Alright then,” you said. “Mindy, would you like to enthrall us with your theories while I get my stuff situated?”
“I would love to,” she said with a smile as she stood up in front of everyone.
You listened to Mindy’s talk about sequels and remakes and upping the budget and yada yada. It was all very flashy, very out there, but you could respect it. If anyone would know what was going on, it would be Mindy. And she managed to fill more than enough time while you finished pulling everything up on your laptop and hooking it up to the projector on the ceiling.
“Now we shall hear your theories,” Mindy said as she practically handed you the floor.
“Not necessarily theories,” you said, “but I dug up some dirt.”
“And how did you manage to do that?” Chad asked as he leaned back against your couch.
“Well, Chadwick,” you said, ignoring the glare he sent you, “I learned from a very reliable source.”
“Gale is their godmother,” Sam explained.
“And my sister Martha is a tech guru,” you said as you pulled up your powerpoint presentation, “so I learned from the best.”
“Did you turn this into a TED Talk?” Quinn asked with a tilt of her head.
“Why yes I did, Quinn, thank you for asking,” you said as you pulled up the first slide.
“How long is this presentation?” Tara asked.
“Long,” you said with a smile, “so buckle up.”
You went over everything you had managed to dig up for the past 18 hours. From all the Reddit conspiracies, to possible motives. You pointed out how all the theories of Sam being the killer had all managed to come from different sock puppet accounts, which all connected to two different real accounts, which shared IP addresses.
“And you learned how to find that out from your sister?” Anika asked as she leaned forward on her thighs.
“Yes I did,” you said, “and she’s never wrong.”
“Who do the two accounts belong to?” Tara asked.
“Now that I don’t know yet,” you sighed. “But we got our two potential Ghostfaces right there.”
“Two?” Sam asked.
“There’s almost always two,” you said. “Except for, uh, what’s his name,” you shuffled through some of the papers on your table. “Ah, that Roman guy.”
Everyone looked at you with a mix of shock, confusion, and amazement. And maybe a little bit of fear.
“I told you I did my research,” you defended. “Unlike you guys, I didn’t grow up with Ghostface as part of my school curriculum.”
“So you did all this just to tell us you still don’t know who it is?” Chad asked.
“I’m not a detective, I’m doing my best,” you huffed. “It’s more than that pig Bailey ever did.” You instantly looked at Quinn. “No offense, doll.”
“None taken,” she said with a shrug.
“But I do think this means he’s going after you, Sam,” you said. “He painted a bullseye on you with the Reddit bullshit. Must’ve pissed someone off.”
“Seems that’s all I ever do,” she said with a huff.
Everyone got to talking, going over what you had managed to find out. You continued shuffling through your papers, seeing if there was anything else you had left out. All the adrenaline and caffeine was starting to wear off and your eyes were fuzzy, but you could focus long enough to read. Mostly.
Your phone vibrated on the table, and you looked down. From the area code, the call was from the Bronx. If anything, one of your siblings got a new phone and was calling you to let you know. It had happened far too many times anyway, you shouldn’t have been surprised.
“Quit breakin’ your goddamn phone,” you said immediately after answering.
“Hello, Y/N.”
You froze.
“What’s wrong?” He asked. “Cat got your tongue?”
Everyone was still talking amongst themselves. You didn't know if you were supposed to tell them about the call or not. No one was looking at you, so you walked over to the window. When Tino looked over, you signed for him to watch.
"You and your buddy showin' up tonight?" You asked. "Or are you both a couple 'a pussies?"
"You're bold," he said. "Have you learned much from your research?"
"A bit," you said. You were eying the streets below. Surely he was somewhere close.
"Then I'll ask you the single most important question," he said. "What's your favourite scary movie?"
“Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure,” you said. “Large Marge will haunt me till I die.”
“You think you’re funny.”
“My Ma told me I’m a natural comedian.” He wasn’t in the alley. Where was he?
“You ever seen Stab?”
“Not really,” you said. You were vaguely aware of the fact that everyone had fallen silent. “I think they're insensitive."
"Insensitive?" He chuckled. "How chivalrous."
"You gonna play your game or not?" You asked, finally turning back around to see everyone staring at you.
Oh no.
"Did you check Garret’s room when you got home last night?"
Your eyes darted to Garret’s closed bedroom door. No. No you hadn’t checked it last night. The phone fell from your hand as you vaulted over the armchair in your way. Someone was calling to you, but you couldn’t hear what they were saying. Without any hesitation or sense of self preservation, you threw the door open.
No one was in there.
“Shit,” you mumbled to yourself.
“Don’t go in there!” Mindy shouted at you from the living room. “Have you never seen a horror movie?”
“Just shut up,” you called back. “Get out,” you said when you grabbed one of the baseball bats you kept in every room of the apartment. “Tony’s apartment number is 413, it’s a four floor walk-up.”
“I’m staying,” Tara said.
“Come on,” Chad said; you hoped he grabbed her and forced her to leave.
This is a stupid idea, you thought as you stalked your way to Garret’s closed closet door. Sure, you had a bat, but you had no idea what you were going to do if that fucker was in there. What, you were going to just bludgeon him to death? Yeah, that would look great on your rap sheet.
“Here goes nothin’,” you mumbled as you turned the doorknob and threw the door open, the bat primed and ready.
No one was in there either.
“What the-”
-screams came from the front door.
Shit.
You tripped over Garret’s duffel bag that he had left and hit the floor with a hard *thud*. The stitches on your bicep pulled tight. You could hear your pulse racing in your ears as you pushed yourself back up to your feet and ran out of the room.
Just in time to see Ghostface pulling the knife out of Anika’s stomach.
You saw Mindy not too far away holding her bleeding arm, but you couldn’t find anyone else. That was probably a good thing.
Ghostface lifted the knife again.
The wood of the bat rubbed harshly against the skin of your palms as you swung. It hit his head with a hollow *thunk*, and he groaned and fell to the ground. You didn't recall crossing the living room.
“Go,” you shouted as you pushed Anika and Mindy into your room and slammed the door behind the three of you.
Mindy helped Anika onto your bed and pushed against the wound that you could now see went all the way from her sternum to her stomach. Your own stomach twisted at the sight. The muscles in your legs were frozen even as your mind ran rampant.
Something grabbed the doorknob.
You dropped the bat and lunged, slamming into the door right as it opened. Your hands wrapped around the doorknob as it twisted erratically. The metal started to heat up from the friction and you could feel it burning the skin on your palms.
"We're going to die," Anika cried.
"Try to stay positive," Mindy told her even as she was looking around the room for… you didn't know what.
The doorknob twisted again. The door opened slightly, and you slammed your shoulder into it again. Why didn't you fix the fucking lock when you had the chance last week?
"If we get out of this alive, I'm fucking strangling you-"
-The gleam of a knife shut you up and took over everything in your sight.
You followed as it pulled out, leaving a hole in your door right beside your head along with a light smear of blood.
"Get out," you said, your eyes still glued to the blood smear on your door.
"What?" Mindy asked
"Fire escape leads to Tony's room," you said.
"Tara will kill me if I leave you-"
-the knife drove through the door again. You jumped back but felt a sharp sting in your hip.
The door tried to fly open again. You yelped, but pushed against it harder. Your bare feet dug into the carpet and you could feel the strain in your thighs.
"Give me the chair," you ordered, waving your hand vaguely in the direction of a metal folding chair.
Someone shuffled around the room, and in seconds you felt the chair in your outstretched hand. You placed it underneath the doorknob.
The knife pierced the door again.
And again.
And again.
"Come on," you heard Mindy say to Anika. At least you assumed that was who she was talking to.
Anika groaned, but the sounds meant they were moving. Hopefully to your window. Your pulse was rushing in your ear.
The doorknob jiggled again.
"Grab my hand!" Okay, that was Sam, the window was open.
The knife came into your field of view.
Oh god this was so stupid!
"Y/N, come on!"
Tara?
The doorknob quit moving and the room was enveloped with a deafening silence.
You let go of the doorknob slowly and took a few hesitant steps back. The heel of your foot hit the bat, and you reached down to pick it up without taking your eyes off the door.
"Just get out here!"
The grain of the wood rubbed your palms raw as you tightened your grip on the handle. It hung in the air above your shoulder, ready to swing.
I dare you to try it.
"Tara wait!"
Someone stepped onto the fire escape before climbing into the window. You didn't dare turn from the door. A familiar hand touched your ear. It stung.
"You're bleeding," Tara said softly.
You didn't answer.
There was banging in the living room. You twisted your hands around the bat and planted your feet. So help you god, if Ghostface even so much as sneezed you would-
"-It's Bailey!"
Your heart skipped a beat. Maybe two.
"We have paramedics downstairs," he continued, "open the door."
Your eyes stayed on the door even as you toed the chair, pulling it until it fell to the ground with a *clang*. Your grip on the bat tightened as you watched the doorknob twist.
Detective Bailey stepped into the room, hands held up in surrender.
You exhaled sharply and felt all the muscles in your body relax.
The bat fell to the ground as your vision went fuzzy. Tara's hand fell and rested on your hip.
You supposed you had just survived attack number two.

You know, regarding Lloyd's achievement in history and whether ordinary citizens know him or not made me crave post canon modern au.
Imagine seeing an in universe fanfic authors notes in ao3 or twitter crying about how they simply wanted to write a story set in Lloys time but they just keep diving into rabbit holes.
Kinda like
"So i was writing an historical au set in Alician era where the MC had a detour in Cremo and he was admiring a statue by the sea with a local explaining its history. Of course, I needed to do some research only to found out that Lloyd Frontera, YES, THAT Lloyd Frontera who made the Pantara railroad defeated some sea monster, nearly died and got statue for it"
Maybe someone from Beneto Kingdom being so confused because all he learned from history in school (Beneto history) is that Lloyd is just some brilliant engineer so he got specially confused on why in the movie he was watching set in Alician era is Lloyd fighting a goddamn bone dragon.
I'm interested on how scholars and political figures bemoan and analyse Lloyd's action and achievement but ordinary people's Internet discourse could be so much fun as well.
Javier and Lloyd getting the Alexander and Haphaestion treatment on whether they were lovers or not. The discourse would be so toxic lol.
oh my god forget changing the history of civil engineering forever, sparking the nastiest discourse ever on history/fandom internet forums is lloyd's true greatest achievement akshfksdg
he's the go to historical domain character used to set the time period for a historical movie/book/series. he's the guy writers insert to give their work a more period accurate vibe. everyone knows just enough about him to make really passionate history nerds very angry about all the inaccuracies and made up facts that are taken as common knowledge.
i'm thinking people of completely different online circles all knowing about lloyd in some capacity but regarding completely separate facets of his life and work and being so surprised when they accidentally find yet another whole field lloyd revolutionized. like.
a sword nerd who's really into the concept of the asrahan core technique and knows perfectly well that lloyd helped invent it getting gobsmacked about the fact that's the same guy that laid the ground for modern sewer systems.
a fan of historical romance stories who is used to seeing lloyd as a fun cameo in the background of stories set in the alician period being really confused when they open their book on thermodynamics and see there's a whole chapter dedicated to a method lloyd figured out to create ice without the need of magic.
a train enthusiast who is really fascinated by the rudimentary switchback system lloyd frontera implemented when the concept of a train wasn't even known in the empire being completely dumbfounded when their friends invite them to see a movie about that one time lloyd frontera and his knight defeated a knight of hell in namaran.
i think it's definitely a meme to post "so i was doing research for my asfahan au and went on a rabbit hole and guess who fucking built the qanat that's widely regarded as the only reason the kingdom didn't fall into civil war. take a wild fucking guess" "was it lloyd frontera" "IT WAS FUCKING LLOYD FRONTERA OF COURSE IT WAS"
i'm also certain there would be some guys who think he's overrated and people should really stop talking so much about him when there's so many other historical figures who are just as interesting and not as recognized 🙄. to which people immediately go "mad cause your history blorbo didn't defeat a bone dragon aren't you" at them
Javier and Lloyd getting the Alexander and Haphaestion treatment on whether they were lovers or not. The discourse would be so toxic lol.
they definitely get the alexander and hephaestion treatment you are so correct. they're also the achilles and patroclus of the modern magentano girlies. there's a bunch of 'queer retellings' of their lives. they're the go to example for homoerotic friendships. there's a bunch of edits that mix historical paintings of them with ship fanart with that 'history hates lovers' song playing over them. dudebros get really angry about it. llojavi truthers pull out their 20 pages long annotations that start with "they fucking slept in the same bedroom for years" and it only gets worse.
there's one poor person online who just really fucking wants to know how and why lloyd frontera changed faces one day out of the blue with no one ever explaining it. there's no official records. no member of the royal family ever made a statement about it. why is everyone acting like the frontera family didn't have one eldest son for 25-29 years and one day suddenly had a completely different one. what the fuck is going on.
so. yeah. i'm a little obsessed with this concept actually ajkshdksa
#hey i got an ask#myfracturedlife#tged#the greatest estate developer#lloyd frontera#llojavi#<- i guess??

A warm hug to Non, or when are we going to stop demanding perfection from victims
It's been forever since I thought about making this post but I've finally decided to write the goddamn thing.
Three disclaimers : one, I haven't yet managed to get past the first third of episode 9, so this whole thing is based on episodes 1-8 at best. Two, I'll block on sight again if I see victim blaming on this post. Finally, I'm by no means an expert on the subject. It's complex, I might get things wrong and I'll have to oversimplify at times for clarity and brevity's sake, please don't kill me for it. It's probably gonna be long enough as it is. I've tried my best to organize my thoughts in a way that would make sense, but. Well. I hope it does.
Trigger warning for mention of suicide, bullying, grooming, sexual assault, rape
Non started as the poor little baby everyone wanted to protect -both the audience and Jin ; for all the shit he got after filming Non and Keng, there are a lot of parallels to draw between him and the audience. Then the dreaded episode 7 happened and all hell broke loose. I won't include screenshots of the disgusting things I read from some viewers about Non, but Jin's reaction is pretty telling already.
The easy explanation would be that he's mad Non isn't returning his feelings, but I think it has more to do with Non not fitting his 'good victim' role anymore. There's sadness on his face, but the dominants are anger and betrayal. Non tries to regain agency and gets crucified for it.
So what's a good victim ?
Non, basically
If you want an examplary blueprint of what society defines as a good victim and survivor, someone worth justice, defending and loving, just take a look at Non. I broke it down in four marks that need to be checked :
-Innocence : none of the person's action prompted the abuse -Moral high ground : the person has values and displays kindness -Helplessness : the person cannot do anything about the situation they're stuck in -Accepting to be saved : self-explanatory. The person has to accept the help that's offered to them, traditionally by a love interest
Non is abused for being poor, something he's not responsible for. He's hardworking, honest, passionate about the things he loves and commits to his engagements. He's kind when talking with Jin. He's resilient in the face of the gang's bullying. None of what he could do or say would make it stop, neither can he help owing Por for a camera he hasn't broken nor get out of Tee's pyramid scheme. His mental illness only increases this impression of vulnerability. Jin doesn't have all these elements, but he's got more than enough to paint a very similar picture of Non as the audience.
As for accepting help, Jin repeatedly offers some -and Non finally lets him in during their conversation on the rooftop. What Jin offers may be little but it's still help ; Non smiles and even gives Jin a shove -what I think is the only time he initiates contact with Jin at all.
"Thank you so much, Jin, for helping me all along." "It's alright, I'm glad to. I just want to see you smile again, Non."
The audience gets even more of Non being happy and grateful to be saved : he calls his "♥" contact for help multiple times, smiles at the reminder to take his meds and, later on, clings to Phee for dear life after trying to kill himself. He doesn't fight him, he doesn't reach for the scattered pills. Hell, even accepting Tee's offer to make money could count as Non agreeing to be saved by everyone around him.
Non checks all the marks. Everyone in the audience is rooting for him, the other boys can all go get impaled on a branch, and Jin looks at him like he hung and lit all the stars in the sky.
Speaking of the other boys...
Tee and Por victims as well but don't get the same amount of sympathy, if any. Tee isn't responsible for being stuck in a criminal environment and can't get out of it ; no one has offered help, so he gets a pass. But he's been shown to be selfish, opportunist, often cowardly and sometimes gratuitously cruel.
As for Por, it's even worse : every actions he takes seems to confirm his dad's opinion of him. The only mark he ticks is accepting to be saved by his mother, which looks very bad taken on its own. I made a post about Por not too long ago if you want more.
The only way for them to redeem themselves and go from 'horrible people who should die' to 'maybe they don't suck they're my poor little meow meows' is penitence. Take Por ; he's the archetype of the rich son who gets abused by his dad and suffers from having so much money. Just like Kang in Dangerous Romance, or Tanthai in Laws of Attraction. Tee ? I don't have names from the top of my head, but he's that hardened jaded guy stuck in a mafiosi network who has to learn to love and be loved again (enters White). Yet the audience learnt to root for these characters.
Basically, nothing is set in stone. Your status as a good or bad victim can shift depending on your actions and the way they're framed. The usual narrative is to get those characters to grow into the acceptable victim pattern. DFF however is going for reverse development (Non, Jin) or stagnation (Por, Tee, Fluke). It makes for gritty yet very realistic storylines ; and while I'm the first to yell that the masked figures should get their ass stat, I also recognize that there's much more complexity to them than this. Except Top. I have yet to come up with a good explanation for what they're doing with Top, but I will at some point.
How did Non fall from grace if he's such a good example ?
Three points : Phee, the paradox of the demand for Non to seek agency but not too much, and his inacceptable betrayal.
Phee as a magnifying factor
I love this kid to bits but Phee's appearance in the flashbacks concurs with Non's flawless image being torn to shreds for a reason. He's a good, strong and caring person who loves and tries to protect Non -something the audience has wanted to do for weeks ; so we all gathered behind Phee and made him our emissary, carrying out the impossible task outsiders to the series' world couldn't : saving Non.
Since Phee voices the questions and concerns of the audience, we are Phee to an extent. Betraying Phee means betraying the hope and love and care the audience has for Non. Phee is the series' moral compass by that point. I'm sure you see where I'm going with this. If not, consider it's a surprise tool that will help us later. When Phee gets hurt by Non or decides he'd be better off lost and dead.
For the record, in this poll Phee gets even fewer votes than White
Seek agency, but not too much
Discontent starts to rise with the helplessness point first as viewers start to question why Non doesn't ditch the group. Why he's putting himself through such trouble. Non changes from being subjected to others' action to being the subject in a grammatical sense. Yet Non has hiw own reasons to stay (how much does the movie mean to him ? How many hours and sleepless nights on the script ? How long would it take for him to find another chance to get enough funding ? How big of a dream is it for him ?). It's the first occurence of the audience claiming to know best what's good for Non.
Complaints quiet down when Non does try to leave for good only to be stopped by Jin. We saw him try, we saw him fail, he really couldn't leave so he's off the hook.
Jin also makes sure Non remains a perfect victim by bringing him back into the group. I'm not accusing Jin of trying to make Non suffer on purpose ; he's a good guy at heart, come fight me to death on this hill. But the only way for him to exist in Non's life is to remain a savior of sorts. If Non leaves, there's nothing to save him from. Which brings us to my next point.
Non must try to solve things by himself, sure. But not too much. Because when you thrash to regain control of your life, you might break a few things in the process. Especially if you have to wrest it away from well-intentioned but firm hands.
He rejected Jin's offers to help numerous times. He looked anything but thrilled when Phee put himself in danger to clear his name. He refused to change schools at first, only to begrudgingly agree when Phee insisted. This insistence is the heart of the matter : Phee is sure he knows best, so he bulldozes through Non's objections and hesitation : he doesn't consult him before asking his dad for help, he speaks in his place when Non doesn't answer his proposal, he puts the bracelet on his wrist. He asks him if he's taken his meds, just in case.
Phee has the audience's benediction in doing so. Part of it stems from our knowledge of future events : we know it's going to end bad for Non. We know he has to get the fuck out. We know whatever decision he makes will be a bad one. Kids and teenagers as a whole are often deemed unable, or not mature enough to make informed decisions anyway. Just look at Non's mother telling him to prioritize his studies so he can go abroad like his brother. Multiply it tenfold for people with mental illnesses ; they get babied on a daily basis. So Non cannot, I can't emphasize it enough, cannot do anything.
All of the above end with Phee getting his way. Non can't win against him, so he chooses to lie instead.
Aside from willing to be in charge of his own life, Non's refusal to let Phee help is also rooted in love and fear. While Phee would offer him an easy way out as he did for the bank accounts, it would most likely only be easy for Non and put Phee in danger. Both their survivals are held in that curt 'no'.
He's already straight up refused help, and now he loses the moral highground by lying (to his perfect holy savior Phee of all people). From here on out, any action he takes will be his -which is what Non wanted ; it's his life, and he won't be a bystander in it. But it also means that he jumped off the pedestal he'd been put on to land on thin ice.
And guess what, Non is a multi-dimentional character in a difficult situation who weighs more than a poor little damsel in distress. Of course said ice cracks. And the Non hate train gets started.
The betrayal
Lying and refusing help to go get it from the worst place he could have had was bad enough. But sleeping with his teacher while he had a boyfriend (Phee, for heaven's sake) ? Unforgivable. Cheating is the BL equivalent of every cardinal sin, the worst of the worst, and no matter the circumstances you'll get roasted for it.
And yet there are circumstances. One, especially, and it's called motherfucking grooming. I won't elaborate on this point cause I've done it over and over already, but Non was groomed by an adult. Does he see things that way ? Probably not. In his mind he's in control of the situation. He can lie to Phee about it because there's no reason for it to backfire. He does what he has to if he wants to save himself, using he one weapon he has : his body. It's cheating, but cheating in a game rigged for you to lose.
Society has two opinions about sex. It's either holy or gross. Take Jin, for instance.
See the look on his face. He's heartbroken, he's sad, he'll live through it. Witnessing Non having sex with his teacher when he has a boyfriend ? Now that's another story. That's a betrayal.
A betrayal of what, exactly ?
Of this goddamn image Jin had painted of Non. The same the audience was given to see prior to these events : Non was perfect and loveable and worth defending, an innocent, pure, helpless baby in need of saving. So when the illusion shatters in what society and especially BL culture hold as the worst action possible, people feel fooled. Stupid, if you will. And they turn their hatred to Non. Non lied to us ! He pretended to be good, dear god, to think I loved such filth ! My heart is so dirty now, ew.
But Non didn't lie. He lied to Phee, but that's it. Everything else was expectations and assumptions. Fail to meet them and suddenly everything is your fault. It's Non's fault for refusing to be dragged along in his own life anymore, Non's fault for lying in order to get some control, Non's fault for lying again not to lose Phee when caught by surprise, Non's fault for listening to Jin, Non's fault for resorting to use his only weapon to get out of a situation he was cornered in, Non's fault for being tricked into thinking any of the decisions he made regarding Keng were his own, Non's fault for everything.
He wanted to claim his life back and made a mistake, yes. He doubled-down on it when he realized it was too much for him to handle. He clung to it and did his best to keep it together. He dared not to be the perfect victim he was supposed to be ; to try when everyone knew he was bound to fail. And you know what, sometimes there's stuff that's someone's fault, consequences they didn't foresee, things they said, slips and falls, and they're still victims, just as much as they were before.
I believe that dealing with his debt himself is as important to Non as finishing the movie is. He's ready to be used and abused (by Keng in the former, the group for the latter) and to break his own heart, values, pride and sanity. He's the most resilient and dedicated character in the show to me.
But the world doesn't necessarily see it that way. So when Non realizes the mess he's made of everything, he fights Keng (who represents his desperate and violent search for complete independence) to reach for the bracelet he got from Phee. He wants help. He needs it. But he's not a victim anymore and any help is denied.
Both Phee and Jin later manage to reconcile their broken image of Non with the man he actually is. Too late to save him, but they still did. I have a hunch that things would have been different if Phee had beat up Keng and taken a crying Non in his arms, holding him tight while whispering none of it was his fault. But our moral compass fucked up, like the hurt kid he is.
What some people did by blaming and hating on Non is closer to the hateful comments he got on the video than Phee or Jin's reactions. They're far worse.
That's the big takeout. What if we stopped stigmatizing or idealizing sex ? What if we stopped demanding perfection and so-called purity for someone's trauma and status as a human being not to be negated ?
Anyway, here's a hug to Non and every victim who live in the paralyzing fear of a single slip. You can make mistakes just like the rest of us. You don't owe anyone perfection.
I'll end this rant on a bright, happy smile. I don't see a good ending for Non, but god knows he'd deserve it.
#I tried to structure it a bit#key word is try#I was angrily typing it and working with a word salad#I hope I didn't lose sight of my point halfway through#but whether I rambled on or not I needed to write it#cause I'm tired of people sorting victims out and choosing who gets respect and justice#and who doesn't#dead friend forever#dff the series#I spent too long on this gotta go shower now

Ep 26 loose (and rambling) thoughts
I find it almost comical how Chongwu Camp took over the whole shapeshifter case and everyone just nodded and went home. What is Fan daren even doing? Playing weiqi with the Situ guy, instead of actually running the Demon Hunting Bureau so that it doesn't look completely inept in comparison?
Aww look at WX waiting for ZYC to come back! It's kind of interesting how, as she was moving closer to him, the camera moved away so we can only see their silhouettes in the end, and just the very beginning of a hug-
But then we get to follow ZYZ as he's almost floating through the rooms of the Bureau. I imagine these are ZYC's private quarters... It might be the fighter training, or ZYC is just so attuned to ZYZ's presence, either way the fact that he noticed the Great Demon immediately despite being deep in thought, *and* wasn't surprised in the slightest, is kinda amusing to me. (Don't get me started on the bed in the foreground as the scene switches to them talking 😂)
I'm afraid I was not wrong when I thought that "I understand ZYZ now" might mean, among other things, that ZYC understands the demon's wish for death, and thus feels less conflicted about fulfilling it. At the same time, the relief in his face when he talks of breaking the oath, regardless of the consequences... These two, I swear. Because of course ZYZ cuts in immediately with, absolutely not, no dying on my watch, ZYC!
(Also, did we forget the little detail of ZYC not possessing an inner core? Or have they already discussed it behind the scenes and this way we got the "do what you want to become who you want to be" because of course they're going to repair the sword so ZYC *will* be protected from his own demonic energy?)
Now don't come for me, I don't have medical training or anything, but I know depression, and I know how I can extend the gentlest of care and understanding to others while completely unable to do the same for myself, and this is what I see in ZYZ in this scene. He reassures ZYC, encourages him to think about the future, talks of how they're family and they're in this mess together, and yet, and yet, almost in the same breath, he still insists on only one thing for himself. I understand him *and* I want him to want to have a future too, goddamnit.
Is everyone in this place suffering from insomnia? I mean, not that surprising all things considered, but we barely see anyone from the crew resting... You tell him, WX! Him and ZYC, the two self-sacrificial idiots. Also, for such a short scene, it sure did pack a punch... I love the tenderness between them.
Finally we got around to repairing that goddamn cloud ceiling over the Wilderness lol And of course, now that Bai Jiu's mom is back to her human form, he's - where?
The way I cackled at the way my question was answered in the very next scene... Li Lun, the drama queen of all times, does not want to miss the family excursion! (Also, I've seen it said many times but it bears repeating, the kid actor is phenomenal. I literally forget he's 12 when he's portraying Li Lun.) Ying Lei is the goodest boy, and I'd give him all the head pats and high fives. Don't die, please.
I find myself cheering for WX repeatedly in this ep, probably because she keeps saying what I'm thinking, ZYC, ZYZ, stop being idiots!
Well this took an unexpected turn. I love how unruffled ZYZ appears up until the very moment ZYC says, let's give up on restoring the sword, and I hate how his reply seems to be the drama once again reminding us that apparently there are only two possible outcomes. Come on, give us a secret third thing, I'm begging you!
"Even if it's restored... please don't die." What I just said! I remember how we were all, ZYC is going to regret his oath, and we definitely got that, but for him to outright put a condition like that on restoring of his fate weapon, demanding ZYZ to promise not to die is just - top tier. My heart. And then I cheered for WX again, she was *so* mad lol Good on you, girl, you said what we were all thinking!
Ugh ZYZ, stop breaking my heart. I don't think he's ever outright lied to any of them, but the way he seems to categorize his own promises to ZYC... I guess the one about not seeking death is not the highest priority. Ffs
All demons in this world, including ancestors, seem to suffer from loneliness above all else... I love how fast ZYC refuses. He's ready to sacrifice himself, but he'll never sacrifice any of his companions. Ngl I don't think I breathed through the whole sequence that followed. The goodbyes (PSJ, can you act like a normal person at least once? Not sure if it's the actress, but oh goodness does PSJ grate on me sometimes), the "I choose myself," and then ZYZ activating his energy to break the ice, because of course he would. To be honest, at this point in the story, I would really rather these two died together doing something heroic, as opposed to one of them dying and the other continuing on in misery, but hey, unfortunately I'm not the one calling the shots here.
(Also, seeing Bingyi and Ying Long in the preview... hats off to the costuming and makeup folks, because damn, TJR and HMH are already exceptionally good looking, but in the demon get-up they're just out of this world, achingly beautiful.)

Not me writing a prologue for a fic I'll maybe never write about Steve being on the Dream Team lmao. I saw a pro basketball player Steve post a while ago and couldn't stop thinking about it. Anyways-
At the end of March Madness in 1989, the scout for the Pacers has lunch with the head coach of a community college basketball team that somehow made it to the first round before being pulverized. They sit across from each other, the coach seemingly a bit overwhelmed but not outright surprised. That's good, it means Jerry, the scout, doesn't have to worry about him freaking out or babbling too much.
The team captain had caught his, and possibly others', eye. Good layups, a few three pointers, solid defence, and a helluva lot of potential add up to someone to keep an eye on, except they can't because the guy plays for a rinky-dink community college and only had one televised game. The only reason Jerry saw the kid is because the Roane County Community College Ospreys had put in a hell of a fight the past three seasons. Jerry wonders why the hell the kid hadn't been offered a scholarship somewhere...not Roane County. Doesn't matter though, because they're here now.
"so. You wanted to talk about Steve?" Says the coach, August Nearaly, a bit weary.
Jerry nods, sipping his coffee. "Yeah. Wanted to get a sense of him before I actually talked to him."
August sighs. "As a player or as a person?"
Raising his eyebrows. "Is he that different off the court?"
"no! No, not like how you probably think. Harrington's a sweet kid, but also incredibly...well, not weird, but. Peculiar? He's got quirks. Bit paranoid, but not in a conspiracy way. In a 'no one should walk home alone in the dark' or 'hey, where'd John go? He was right here and then I did a headcount and he's not?' kinda way. Y'know? Like, they're all adults, but he does headcounts and worries anyways."
"huh. Oookay?"
"it-- I'm not saying this to rag on him, to be clear. It just too a while to get used to. Honestly, it's been good for team building. Makes them think of each other not as individuals, but part of a unit that needs everyone healthy and whole to work."
"that's good. He's a team player."
"oh yeah. It's not surprising, really. He's from Hawkins." August says the name like Jerry should know what that means. It's a town, sure, but other than that... Jerry's at a loss. Maybe something a few years ago about a fire? "He has most assists in Osprey history. Some of the guys joke that he's allergic to the ball."
"He's good on the court?"
"Jerry. I know you're here because you saw the March Madness game. You know he's good. He'd be even better if he could afford those fancy prescription goggles Horace Grant wears."
"seriously? Why not contacts?"
"don't make them for his prescription. You didn't see his interview? Kid's got thick horn rimmed glasses. Too many concussions apparently. God knows how he tells players apart when the jersey colours are similar."
"shit. That's why he was squinting the whole time? I thought he was just stressed."
He shrugged. "eh. Probably a bit of both. He takes it seriously, but not too seriously. Y'know? Half the guys were shitting themselves from nerves and Harrington stands up in the locker room, hands on his hips, and gives a speech worthy of the most melodramatic underdog sports movie."
Jerry laughs. "No shit."
Waving his hands, August nods. "no shit! He says all this stuff like 'we worked hard...we deserve this...we may not win but let's do our damn best. The worst that could happen is we lose, and that isn't the end of the world. So let's go out there and play some basketball!' or something, his was better, and the boys cheer. Then they put in fifty points to one-thirty."
Jerry winces. "Must have hurt, huh?"
August grins. "No way. One of the best games they ever played. You saw it. You wouldn't be here if you hadn't. They played their goddamn hearts out." He leans forward. "My boys don't have the same facilities as the big universities, or the funding to offer scholarships. They're at Roane Community because they want a degree or certificate but have other responsibilities. Parents or siblings to stay close to, jobs to work, people to take care of. They joined my team because they like playing basketball, loved the game and wanted to spend some of their precious time playing it. They put the work in on the court and off it. And we made it to the NCAA tournament because of it. We put in fifty points against the goddamn Michigan Wolverines! The champs! And they knew that. I've never heard of a locker room after an 80 point defeat so happy."
"seriously?"
It's all pride when Coach Nearaly says "yep. They may not be the best basketball players in college, but my god, they're probably the best team."
"because of Harrington?"
"partly. They all contribute, make sure they do things right. It's not a one man show, that's the point. They rally around him, but they all are part of the team, and know it. That's what Steve makes sure. Why I made him captain."
"So, you think he'd be a good pick for the Pacers?" This is, after all, a business meeting.
August nods, picks at his pancakes. "I'll be honest with you Jerry. You're not the first scout to talk to me about Steve."
"really? Who?"
"you know I won't say. But, between me and you, Steve's Indiana born and bred. His wife's planning on getting some lib Arts degree in Chicago or Indy, and your offer might be the deciding factor for them."
Jerry blinks. "He's married? At, what? Twenty-one?"
August nods. "Just turned twenty-two. High school sweethearts or something. Obsessed with each other." He chuckled, a bit ruefully. "I'm a bit jaded but damn. You mention her name? He lights up like the fuckin Fourth of July."
Jerry whistles. "Honeymoon phase gets us all."
"for almost two years? Nah. It's just love." It sounds a little wistful, coming from August. "Anyways. I dunno if the other team is serious about him, and if they are, they'll probably be disappointed. Kid isn't moving out of the Midwest. He's got family here, and is getting a goddamn elementary education degree. He won't uproot his life for a chance at the NBA. But, if you offer. Well. He'd at least seriously consider it."
Humming, Jerry chews his eggs as he thinks. "You think he'd be up for the lifestyle? The road games out numbering home ones?"
There's an air of seriousness when August levels Jerry with a look. "If he doesn't want to, he'll tell you. You gotta give him time to talk to his family though. This offer? It'll come out of left field for him, even if I give him a heads up. You get that, yeah? You want to recruit a kindergarten teacher to the NBA without any build up. He needs time to process that and then see where the people in his life are at with it."
"I guess it is unusual."
"try being the community college basketball coach getting two goddamn calls from NBA scouts. Thought I was hallucinating."
Jerry laughs, counts some bills for the tip. "Thank you. For your time and insights. Let Steve know I'll call tomorrow?"
"will do. He'll still probably drob the phone on you, though."
"as long as he doesn't hang up!"

This is a long rant so you can totally delete if you’re not interested, though I don’t know who else to talk to about this so I hope you don’t mind me getting something off my chest: I feel really bad for todoroki.
He tried the hardest to save his villain (making a plan to stop Dabi by creating a new move, continually tried to get Endeavor to cooperate with him to meet Dabi, letting Dabi take his anger out at him, and racing meet him not once but twice, saving him from killing himself even when he was the most suicidal out of the villain trio), hell, he was the most empathetic to his villain without ever needing to see the child self because he thought they would have been the same if Todoroki didn’t get the support from his friends. Too bad Touya was so hell bent on his suicide mission with Endeavor that Todoroki couldn’t get through him the first time.
Which leads to the ending of Touya dying in a machine and the brothers still having glass stuck between them. Endeavor may have took over the ending, but Todoroki was the only one who connected to Touya by asking him about his favorite food instead of talking over him. Even then, Endeavor gets to seem cool with “I’ll handle the consequences” and Natsuo complimenting him despite him running away until he couldn’t and almost did a murder-suicide with Touya. Hell, Endeavor literally never faced any consequences in the end as the next time we see him with his psuedo-family (on another note, it feels like salt in the wound Hawks got to live out his happy family dreams while Also not getting any consequences for killing Twice as a hero). Rei sticks by him for some goddamn reason and the last thing Fuyumi talks about is losing her job because of Endeavor’s actions. Before then, the only consequences Endeavor faced was for him failing as a hero and civilians getting mad at that. Everytime someone brings up the abuse, it always brushing it aside besides Iida/Kirishima commenting on it. Sero’s “no one needs that tragic crap” doesn’t really help either since it was more about his own motivations than helping Todoroki dialogue wise. We don’t even get to see All Might’s reaction who was told in the beginning Todoroki was only born to defeat him (Endeavor actually used pronouns calling Todoroki an object in the original Japanese in this convo). We don’t get to see anyone who knows Eri (outside of Midoriya) give the same sympathy to Todoroki because now they know he went through a similar experience a decade of his life (but even then Midoriya praises Endeavor once when fighting Dabi so :/).
Barely anyone in the family comforted him on screen and it truly feels like his family fell apart despite doing his best learning about them in under a year. Todoroki doesn’t get to have that bowl of udon OR soba with Touya now.
The narrative kinda also barred him from the origin trio thing in the end, and he didn’t even get to talk to/cry about Touya to Uraraka and Midoriya (even though I personally feel like both their stories kind of fell apart because of that talk) (also he has the most complicated/interesting relationship with both All Might and his villain/brother but whateve). Todoroki is still haunted by Endeavor’s name a decade later (even if it’s a smaller shadow) and EVEN THEN Endeavor is still looked at as one of the greatest heroes. Endeavor almost killed Touya and the family for not acting sooner and he gets labeled as great. Endeavor gets to have replacement children while everyone else don’t get the justice they deserved.
He doesn’t even get his rising title in the anime!! They took it away from him!! The anime wants you to think all of the Todoroki family saved Touya, but Todoroki did 90% of the work!!
This might seem odd change in topic, but Tenko/Shigaraki has a lot of parallels to Todoroki, and I guess their abusive guardians taking over their plots and leaving behind tragedy can be added to that list.
I’m so mad Endeavor got to live… Though it seems like anyone didn’t get any justice about their abusers besides Eri.
I’m not the biggest Shoto fan, but I’ll do my best to focus on him for this
You know, I’d say there are three levels to why I hate Endeavor so much.
He is a shit guy. He’s an abuser, who’s entire reason is oh he didn’t get first place in a popularity contest, and couldn’t be bothered to try and be decent to the public.
The narrative refuses to acknowledge it. His actions once All Might is forced to retire are all massively downplayed mixed with excuses, and he gets an undeserved angst fest every time he faces even the possibility of consequences.
Every other character and the plot has to be sacrificed to prop him up.
And even after Endeavor’s ‘redemption’ and cryfest at the hospital, the whole fucking family puts Shoto at the center of everything. As if that hasn’t been one of the main reasons everyone in the family (except Endeavor who gets nothing but benefits from this) is struggling. If either Endeavor was dead, or Shoto was allowed to hate Endeavor, things wouldn't have turned out so badly.
I saw a fic a while ago and the premise was that the rest of the Todoroki family was with Touya and Shoto was left all alone. And even just reading the fic’s description I’m thinking what are they talking about they weren’t there for Touya, they were there for Endeavor!
Shoto is the only one who talks to Dabi, everyone else is at mass talking at him, in both the battle and epilogue. The battle the rest of the family is just victim-blaming/ scapegoating Dabi blindly, not questioning anything. Natsuo, Fuyumi and Rei don’t say a single word to Dabi after, no they’re talking to Endeavor, they only get a few minutes to see Dabi, possibly forever considering the prison system, and they spend it on the Manbaby. Shoto only manages to ask one question at the end, while they're being forced out, which Dabi demonstrates that he aware and was willing to talk to the best of his abilities, the family just couldn’t be bothered.
I’m disgusted by 1A, UA, the other pros, etc, ’s response(s) to the reveal, no one ever asks if Shoto is okay, or his feelings are. They all just assume, and earlier in the series we see Midori-enabler-ya tell him that he’s forgiving Endeavor, and that shows he’s moving on. Forgiveness isn’t needed to move on, and I believe can very much get in the way of it. And that’s the closest we get to anyone actually caring about Shoto’s or any of the other victims feelings that weren’t the villains.
I wish I could say I was surprised by Rei (or Fuyumi) but I’m not. Rei basically tells Natsuo and Fuyumi they have to forgive him because he sent her a flower. Besides the disturbing parallels from "Harlequinade" Batman: The Animated Series except this one sees it as a good thing. This moment and the continuing progression/ reveal of her character, never made me think highly of her. She reads as someone who is massively codependent and an enabler, regardless of the reason for that, that is the result
Natsuo I was disappointed by, he was the only one who didn’t see the bare minimum of effort from Endeavor as reason to forgive/ forget everything he’s done. Yet in the final showdown he directly blames Dabi for being difficult.
And about Eri, I firmly believe that she was only helped at all because Overhaul was a villain outside of abusing/torturing her. If he was an ‘innocent’ civilian, hero, or part of the commission, they would have given(read forced) her back without hesitation or a second thought, they basically did that anyway when she was first introduced. Here’s a link on what I mean https://www.tumblr.com/thr0wnawayy/764328039502987264/whats-your-opinion-about-eri-i-mean-shes-cute?source=share And a whole lot of @thr0wnawayy ‘s first reblog could be taken and applied to Shoto

i've finally gotten to the chapter in my secretly-dating-since-s2 big bang where the kids are in high school and interacting with steve and eddie separately, and i am having The Most Fun writing the most ridiculous situations you've ever seen. snippet below.
(also @knitsforthetrail you kicked me into gear today!! chapter's nearly done!!!)
“Yeah, Mike, Steve fucked up this time but he’s still awesome,” Dustin said, hustling the others out to Eddie’s van. Eddie rolled his eyes at the mini-mothering, knocking the doorstopper out of the way so the theater door swung shut behind them. Dustin continued, “You’re just still mad because he dated Nancy.”
“And, like, everyone else in this town!” Mike said, crossing his arms. “Plus he’s so lame. Like, cool, you’ve got a car, you’ve got hair and, like, lips or whatever. So what!”
Eddie felt his eyebrow raise at the lips or whatever comment, but the boys were in front of him and so he didn’t have to tamp it down. Maybe Steve was inadvertently mama-bearing a whole little pack of gays. He told Eddie about the types of gum he’d been trying since September to try to find his “signature taste” but he wouldn’t share about his little flock of homosexuals? His priorities were completely out of wack.
“Listen, it’s fine,” Dustin said, clambering into the van’s passenger seat like he’d never seen a goddamn car before, all shoulders first and feet kicking. Lucas and Mike, stick bug-shaped children that they were, crawled into the back and perched gingerly on the pillows and guitar string packets and other detritus Eddie forgot was back there. “We’ll just have Steve call your date and tell her what happened! Everyone knows him, he’s a reliable guy, and she’ll have to reschedule with you.”
“You want,” Eddie said, “Steve Harrington to call my date for me and tell them I was late because he had to work?”
“Yeah,” Dustin said.
“Steve ‘has dated everyone in town’ Harrington, according to Mike? You think he should call my date and apologize for me?”
“Yeah,” Dustin said. “He probably already knows her!”
“There sure are a lot of blankets in here,” Lucas said, looking around the van. Admittedly, Eddie had rolled out all the stops for a smoke date with Steve a few nights ago that had been very successful judging by Steve's enthusiastic reaction, and he cringed a little to think about what Lucas and Mike might be sitting in. He has got to remember to do laundry sometime.
“Do you have a comment, Sinclair?” Eddie asked.
“No, just… questions,” Lucas said.
#steddie#he'll see i'm not so tough#was mike's comment inspired by shania twain's legendary hit That Don't Impress Me Much? maybe#'what - do you think you're elvis or something?' mike says to steve#as steve nearly brains himself trying to crawl into the second floor of the wheeler home

Written for the @steddieholidaydrabbles December challenge.
What If?
Prompt Day 15: Time Travel | Word Count: 1000 | Rating: T | CW: Mentions of Other Relationship | Tags: Time Travel, Fix-It, Second Chance, El is Meddling, Eddie POV
Eddie is sitting alone in his spare bedroom that he turned into a music room, long ago. He fiddles with his guitar, but he's lonely. He thought he'd have more time to make his feelings known. More time to get his shit together, but now forty years have gone by, and he's all alone. His friends grew up and moved on.
Steve moved on.
They're all still friends, sure, but Eddie thinks of himself kind of as the always single, loner uncle that shows up at holidays. He's a little like Wayne, honestly. That makes Eddie smile, even if he has regrets about how he closed himself off from everyone after everything that happened in the Upside Down.
How he closed himself off from Steve.
Steve had been by his side, with a look in his eyes that scared Eddie. Eddie didn't want that kind of responsibility. He couldn't even take care of himself, how was he supposed to take care of Steve's heart? Impossible.
So, Eddie had pretended not to see the looks, or feel the slight touches. He ignored Steve's small advances, like they weren't even happening.
And, eventually, Steve stopped trying. He met a girl who became his wife, and everything worked out for the best.
Eddie doesn't resent Steve for getting on with his life, for going after what he wanted. A wife. Kids. Eddie gets the postcards, the emails with pictures attached. It's all cookie-cutter perfect. Right down to the fluffy dog.
Eddie ran from his feelings, had locked them down tight, so he has no right to be mad.
But he wishes…
Sometimes, he wishes and wonders: what if?
Eddie goes to bed alone, and falls asleep alone.
When he wakes up, suddenly startled, he's not alone at all.
It looks like Dustin, sitting on the edge of the bed. Only, not the current Dustin. No, this is the Dustin from then, from before.
Eddie reaches for his glasses, to pull everything into focus, yanking on the light chain for good measure. And sure enough, sitting there looking at him, is Dustin. About twenty years old, in a disheveled dress shirt, tie and slacks.
Eddie recognizes the outfit, because he's seen it in pictures a lot over the years. This is what Dustin wore to Steve's wedding, as one of the groomsmen. Steve's best man.
"I'm dreaming," Eddie says, because that's the only explanation.
"You're not," Dustin says, "but I might be?"
"You're not," Eddie echoes. And if he's not dreaming, and Dustin's not dreaming…
"How'd you get here?" Eddie asks.
"I was talking to El about how dumb you two had been, and now I'm sitting on the edge of your bed. And you're old."
"I'm not that old, you little shithead," Eddie says, and Dustin turns and grins.
"At least you're still you, I guess," Dustin answers, but he looks on the verge of tears.
"You were at Steve's wedding, right?" Eddie asks, and Dustin nods.
He had to be. That was the moment this timeline really shifted. Eddie had run out of chances, and Steve was lost to him for good that day.
Eddie sits up straighter, "Did El send you into the goddamn future to fuck with me?"
Dustin shrugs, "I think so. She told me to talk some sense into you, and if I succeeded, she'd bring me back. She was drunk. We all were. Still am. I thought she was kidding. I didn't even know she could do that. Time travel? She never mentioned time travel being in her bag of tricks."
Eddie laughs, that woman is never to be trifled with. Not then, not now. There must be no limit to the powers she can harness. Eddie reaches for his cell phone, finds her number and dials.
"Yeah, you sent me a present?" Eddie says.
"I did what?" she asks, clearly drowsy on the other end of the line.
"Dustin. From Steve's wedding. He's here and I need you to send him home," Eddie says, and isn't this just a stupid situation to find himself in on a random Tuesday.
"Oh, I forgot about that," she says, and there's a long pause, "has he talked some sense into you yet?"
"No! He's drunk, freaked out, and he wants to go home."
"Only if you agree to go back with him and get it right this time."
Eddie laughs, bordering on hysterical, "I'm not going back to Steve's wedding and objecting like some sort of asshole. He has children, El. I'm not risking taking his kids away from him!"
"Oh, none of this is real," she says, as easy as she'd give him the time.
"That's impossible," he says.
"Really not," she insists, "and you cannot go back to the wedding. You need to go further. To right after Vecna."
Eddie thinks this is crazy, impossible. But he finds himself nodding. Okay. Why not? If she's right, he gets a second chance. And if this is all a dream, he'll just wake up in the morning and get a good laugh.
"Okay, send us back," he answers, then hurries to add, like she's some sort of trickster instead of just El, "After! Make sure it's after! I'm not getting attacked by bats again. Not even for Steve."
He can nearly hear her eyeroll over the phone.
"Yes. After. Get a hold of Dustin's hand, he is the one I can move, not you," she says, and Eddie reluctantly does it. Takes both of them, just to be safe.
And then there's an unpleasant yanking sensation, and when he regains his bearings, he's in a hospital bed.
Steve Harrington at his side.
Steve's young, only nineteen. And he's looking at Eddie with those eyes that he used to use on Eddie for a long time before finally giving up, moving on.
"Hi," Eddie says, giving him the eyes right back.
This time when Steve reaches for his hand, Eddie grabs on, and doesn't let go.
Being brave.
Not running.

The Last of Us sentence starters
Taken from both the TV show and all video games. Send one for my muse's response. Feel free to change pronouns as needed.
"I've struggled a long time with survivin', but no matter what you have to find something to fight for"
“So you went from teacher to preacher; because what? It fuckin' rhymes?”
“You can't stop this.”
"You live in a broken world that you could have saved."
"That is... a hat on a dinosaur."
"There are a million ways we should’ve died before today, and a million ways we can die before tomorrow."
“Fuck Seattle.”
“But she gets to live...”
"I would do it all over again."
"That's gotta be hard. Leaving all of your stuff behind like that."
"Now get the fuck out of my town."
"We let you both live and you wasted it."
"To the edge of the universe and back, endure and survive..."
"It's called luck and it's gonna to run out."
"Everyone I have cared for has either died, or left me. Everyone ... fucking except for you! So don't tell me that I would be safer with someone else, because the truth is I would just be more scared."
"The only people who betray us are the ones we trust."
“Hello? Anyone? Cure for mankind here!”
"I don't ever want to see your goddamn face again."
“I can make it quick or I can make it so much worse.”
"I was never afraid before you showed up"
"I walked in to my sister's room and slipped on her bra. It was a booby trap."
"After years of wandering in circles, we’re about to come home, make a difference, and bring the human race back into control of its own destiny."
"It wasn't time that did it."
"Every bad feeling… Your palms sweating, your heart racing… They're all signs you're actually stronger."
"Light on the reading, but it has some good photos."
"That was lame. You're lame."
"Those were your fucking people!"
"Go. Just take him."
"Well, here's your chance to bring your kid into a better world."
"Hearing them talk, it's good to know they're scared of you."
"A bad reputation doesn't mean you're bad."
"I was supposed to die in that hospital."
"I swear."
"Endure and survive."
"If I were ever to lose you, I'd surely lose myself."
"I mean it's why you took off on me, right? To make up for the things we did."
“I'm just a girl. Not a threat.”
"You'd just after her."
"You have no idea what loss is."
"If you lie to me one more time, I'm gone."
"I'm sorry for getting older faster than you."
"Our luck had to run out sooner or later."
"I had a sixty-foot yacht."
"We're not murderers. We just survive."
"I guess you can't outrun your past"
"You mattered to me first."
"Okay, one more. What do you get when you cross an angry sheep and a mad cow? An animal that's in a baaaa-ad mooooo-ood."
"Well, maybe in all that research they turned into fucking monkeys."
"Once upon a time, I had somebody that I cared about. It was a partner. Somebody I had to look after. And in this world, that sort of shit's good for one thing: Gettin' ya killed."
"Bomb this city and everyone in it."
"Why are these pages stuck together?"
"It doesn't matter how much you push the envelope, it'll still be stationery."
"I got you."
"No, fuck you! You handcuffed me!"
"I dreamt about flying the other night."
"I've lost something. I'm failing in my sleep."
"I think they should be terrified of you."
"All the promises at sundown. I meant them like the rest."
"Think I'd let you do this on your own?"
"And just so we’re clear about back there, it was either him or me "
"Lets wait it out. You know we....we can be all poetic and lose our minds together."
"So... why don't you fix one these cars?"
"People are making apocalypse jokes like there's no tomorrow... Too soon."
“Maybe you should have.”
“You took that from me.”
"What is the downside to eating a clock?"
"Holy moly. I guess this is what these buildings look like up close. They're so damn tall! So, what happened here?"
"You think I can still handle things, but I'm not who I was."
"I believe that everything happens for a reason."
"Why don't you say whatever speech you have rehearsed and get this over with."
"Just one peaceful night; a clean conscience…all gone…"
"Drugs. I see hardcore drugs."
"Let's see, scorpions are pretty creepy. Ummm, being by myself. I'm scared of ending up alone. What about you?"
"I don't want to be a burden."
"I don't want to lose you."
"What did the green grape say to the purple grape? Breathe, you idiot!"
"I'll make her pay."
"I'm gonna find... and I'm gonna kill... every last one of them."
"My friends' problem are my problems."
“It's called a hatosaur.”
"I got one for you. What's the quietest animal on a farm? A Shhhhhh-eeep. When you're older, you're going to have a deep appreciation for these jokes."
"Save who you can."
"I worry. Just... let me see her. Please."
"Whoa! How the - how the hell would you even walk around with that thing?"
"Arby's didn't give free lunches."
"You're such an asshole!"
"You're lucky you're still drawing breath! That was plan A, B, all the way to fucking Z!"
"I don't think I can ever forgive you for that."
"You don't think he got what he deserved?"
"Well, you're a burden now, aren't you?"
"We lose"
“’80s means trouble. Code broken.”
"Yeah, well try not to let your guard down."
"After all we've been through. Everything that I've done. It can't be for nothing."
"That ain't the hard part."
"We did those things. And they weren't things. We murdered people."
"What you say goes."
"We've got a family now. She doesn't get to be more important than that."
