fucked up Real Bad (had caffeine at 4:30pm and thus appear to have eternally banished the sandman)

#i want to go to bed #but also if i lie down i will NOT sleep #doesn't help that im in the process of breaking myself of a terrible phone habit #and thus am keeping my phone far out of reach at all times #for ages now i've used solitaire/sudoku/podcasts to fall asleep #but im trying to break myself of the habit by going more or less cold turkey for a week or two #we'll see how this goes #would've been easier if i'd remembered my limits and not had caffeine after 12:30pm lmao

A lotta of people are. Little kids mostly, but a good amount of people keep that fear into bein’ an adult, even if they’re only a little jumpy when it's dark. It's the unknown mostly, not knowin’ what lurks in the shadows, it freaks people out. Unreasonably so, I think.

Do you know what's out there? Lurking in each corner, hiding in every shadow. There’s a reason people are afraid of the dark. There’s a reason people are afraid of what they can't see, what they don't understand.

Y’know, I used to be afraid of the dark. Not anymore, of course. Never now. But I get it. I used to hold the kids on dark nights, terrified myself. ‘cause I knew.
