I always have concepts for Idia hehe!!! :D but which type of Idia would you like to hear about? The one who conditions you to rely on him for everything and anything, who is so gross and disturbed, who has too much power when you combine the degenerate hentai fantasies with big brain science....... or the one who is very bad at interacting with you in social situations, so he stalks from afar and only ever watches you through screens. He keeps putting off kidnapping you because he's anxious (not because he'll be kidnapping you, but because you'll be so close to him and there won't be a screen and anonymity to separate the two of you)......

Although maybe these Idias can be the same. (˘ ˘ ˘) aaaa but I think Idia hits differently when he's in Man of STEM Mode!!!!!! >0< either when he is rambling about the scientific process or about his own hobbies, the passion is always enjoyable!! I think arranged marriage is a fun trope to explore with him because his mother is so sweet and bubbly, and it's more so a case of her shipping you and Idia (lol) and wanting the two of you to be happy together. You visit the Shroud residence for dinner on the occasion when both Mama and Papa Shroud's schedules have opened up and she cannot stop eagerly rambling about how cute you and her precious Idia are, much to Idia's embarrassment!!!! She is his number one supporter; she wants Idia to have his happy end no matter what. :D

She'll always want what's best for her boys, so maybe she turns a slight blind eye if Idia's behaviors are...a little concerning. I think she'd be such a soothing presence if Idia knocks you up (whether you were willing or not in this endeavor). If anyone's going to sympathize, it'll be her, surely! And she does. Kind of. ;;;; she just sits beside you and has you rest your head in her lap if you're feeling up to it, and she shares all kinds of stories from when she was pregnant with her boys all while patting your head and assuring you you'll be a lovely mother. THE CONDITIONING ON THAT LEVEL....... and it would be so unintentional and unconscious on her part because she's just so happy for you and Idia, even if she only knows a small sliver of the story (or perhaps she suspects it), and she doesn't want you to stress yourself out with your own worries. From one mother to another, you'll do great (and it kills you inside because she genuinely means no harm with her cheerful support).

When everything's so high-tech and there are cameras and robots everywhere and the Island of Woe is so remote and difficult to leave??? That's basically pitting a level one character against a level 100 boss and expecting to come out victorious. You're so trapped but also so loved by the Shrouds. It's overwhelming.

YAYYY!! I'm also so shocked it was mxtx's first book!! the writing might not be as polished as her other books, but the themes go so hard and her character writing is always incredible

I don’t know if I’ve ever mentioned this before but I think part of the reason why I found Cadaver and Malice so interesting is because of how they sort of reflected each other.

Or more specifically, they were both dependent on Valkyrie, and then had her stripped away. They were both left grasping for something, anything that could keep them grounded. Perhaps in an alternate universe they could have teamed up against Creed. But what really happened is that they went swinging in opposite directions. Malice was picked up and raised by Creed while Cadaver could only watch, and Cadaver became involved with a bunch of dead gods because they managed to fill the giant gap in his soul that Valkyrie left when she became a harpy.

And by the looks of it, they BOTH tried to save her. We know for a fact Cadaver did, and he was probably injured many times over trying to save her. And based on the way that Malice talks about Valkyrie, I wouldn’t be surprised at all if she also put in at least some effort to see if the process could be reversed. To no avail.

They both lost Valkyrie, and they BOTH became awful people because of it, just awful people on opposite sides of the fight. They BOTH lose sight of what they were initially fighting for and are overtaken by their rage and jealousy to such a degree that when Valkyrie times travels to meet them, she is horrified by BOTH of them. And they both fight each other for her trust and help, only for her ACTUAL trust and affection to be given towards the harpy version of herself.

And the reason I’m talking about this is because it’s probably going to be relevant in phase 3. It’s clear that Skulduggery needs her for emotional regulation and loves her more than anything, and it’s clear that Winter being constantly overshadowed by Valkyrie has caused her to become borderline obsessed with her sister and how she compares to her. So much of both of their lives revolve around Valkyrie, and as a result they are also in each other’s peripheral vision. Not relevant to each other’s lives, but there in the background.

It’s pretty clear that Winter will try to kill Valkyrie at some point. It’s pretty clear that Skulduggery will never let that happen. And I think that Cadaver and Malice will be absolutely ROLLING to see these two develop a hatred for each other that mirrors their own, most notably in the way that it revolves around Valkyrie. Because SO MUCH revolves around Valkyrie, and that is something that Skulduggery loves and Winter hates about her.

And there is no way that this story could ever possibly go wrong for any of them.

when i said i would have deranged rant abt c!zam yesterday i thought i was going to have derangements abt s4 zam. and that wasnt entirely false i am also having derangements about s4 zam but im also having derangements about s3 (just rewatched the finale with some friends and remembered why zam's s3 finale was the video that made me go Oh. i CARE about lifesteal now huh)

anyway i'm thinking about s3 finale era zam showing up to meet with spoke ready for a fight. his inventory full of gapples and cobwebs and potions. eighteen hearts. and he uses them! he throws regen on spoke and he puts cobwebs beneath spoke so spoke can't kill himself by jumping off the mountain and he throws spoke two hearts and gapples and begs him to use them. i'm thinking about, after spoke comes back, zam spawntrapped. refusing to give up, hitting spoke over and over again with a stone axe that does nothing as spoke kills him over and over. i'm thinking about spoke, a bit earlier, saying: doesn't this sound familiar? and he's talking about zam's own suicide-by-execution after the fall of the princezam empire, and he's not wrong, but his words also echo into their future, into s4: vitalasy in the end base, putting subz in cobwebs, throwing him hearts and gapples, begging him not to kill himself; zam with a stone sword, hitting roshambo over and over. i'm thinking about spoke, even earlier than that: lifesteal works in cycles. because it does, doesn't it? it's all the same thing. they're not the same people but also they kind of are. thinking about zam yelling i ruined it! it's all my fault! if anyone should be banned, it should be me! because he's the same person as the one who banned himself earlier in s3, the same person who almost banned himself twice in s4. because even though spoke's his enemy spoke's also his friend and he doesn't want spoke to die. he brought stuff to kill spoke but he doesn't want to ban spoke, doesn't want spoke to kill himself. he's trying to save the server from getting banned (even his enemies) and spoke is trying to ban the server (even himself). in voiceover in his video zam says "i couldn't save spoke." he couldn't save spoke. he tried to save spoke. his enemy! his enemy who spawnkills him twice in the same video! zam couldn't save him. spoke asking why zam is still trying. but zam has to save things just like spoke has to destroy things. zam can't give up because he just-- can't, it's not his nature, across seasons and servers zam Does Not Give Up. even when it kills him. maybe especially when it kills him. i keep coming back to the cobwebs and the gapples and the regen pots. he brought them to kill spoke and he's trying to use them to save spoke's life. MAN. man! in conclusion. sorry for being stuck on a thing that happened in s3. as if it's my fault
