sticking to remedy (for this and the next question) id say Clouds of pink and storm, where Alice experiences the final reunion w/ Alan in aw:an but then wakes up, assuming it was merely a dream and that he's still dead ;_;

Hypothermia where Alan gets out of the dark place and can finally sleep in peace surrounded by the people he loves ♥♥♥

one (1) time in my first tma fic, but I just deleted it and moved on ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ (joke on them bc that Is my most popular fic lmfao)

sometimes. I hate writing it almost as much as I like thinking abt it, which puts me on a difficult position 😔

the hannibalesque au... a martin/elias fic that was supposed to be my tma magnus opus, last time i opened it it was pushing 20k and quite literally only needed two scenes to be complete, but also thinking abt tma always puts me on such a sour mood and, while i love the ship, i couldn't care less about elias himself,,, still love the fic but god getting into the mindset to write it is hard to say the least Q_Q

if done right it can add flavor to the story! but its a hit or miss and when it misses it can be soooooo so bad Q_Q i dont believe you Need beta reads for fics but in this case you Gotta have someone that speaks the language available, and Please dont just translate words at random

Desperately Safe (tma, peter/salesa) what if a charismatic yet highly paranoid man and the misanthropic heir of the lonely found refuge in each other? and they were both sailors?

Recognition Through Fear (tma, martin/annabelle) in which the resident "spider monster" lady who was formerly arachnophobic shows signs that she never Actually stopped being scared of them, and the resident "fear buffet" guy who hates her guts (yet loves spiders) tries to make her life just a little bit easier by carefully picking the spiders integrated to her skull. a small moment of kindness in an otherwise unkind world u_u

G: Do you write your story from start to finish, or do you write the scenes out of order?

Mostly I write from start to finish, though sometimes I do skip around if I hit a bit of a block for the next scene or get inspiration for a particular bit. Also sometimes I’m in the mood to write something ‘proper’ and sometimes all I wanna do is write the smutty scenes :D

I: Do you have a guilty pleasure in fic (reading or writing)?

Hmm, probably when reading fic… I think my guilty pleasures are omegaverse and Regency era AUs! Omegaverse seems to be a bit like marmite, you either love it or hate it – and I love it :D And you can’t go wrong with some steamy Regency era fic, the characters trying to restrain themselves but ultimately breaking all those social taboos with an illicit love affair :P

R: Are there any writers (fanfic or otherwise) you consider an influence?

Hmm, this is tricky. Not really? As in, I like reading a wide variety of authors (fanfic or published), covering a variety of fandoms, genres, tropes etc, so I can’t think of anyone specifically who has influenced me to a greater degree than anyone else. However, I do really enjoy reading people’s meta and headcanons on tumblr and I think that helps me a lot to build and shape my impressions of characters and therefore influences my writing in that way.

S: Any fandom tropes you can't resist?

Slow burn (ideally with eventual smut), angst with a happy ending, soulmates, omegaverse, enemies to lovers, pining… (LOVE the pining!)

It depends on the fandom/pairing, but generally I like happy endings and I like the pairing to be mutually head over heels in love with each other. The pain of unrequited love or a sad ending can be really good too, if I’m in the mood for that, but I am generally a huge sucker for a happy ending.

T: Any fandom tropes you can't stand?

I really can’t stand coffee shop AUs…! I don’t understand why they’re so popular. I’ve worked in coffee shops/hospitality and I hated it, so that experience has probably tainted the concept for me.

I like to read fic so that my fave characters can love and bone each other, so I’m not into fics where they fall out of love, cheat, divorce etc.

I don’t really like love at first sight either. I enjoy soulmates/fated pairings, but like it to be a bit more developed and meaningful than just ‘I saw you, don’t actually know you, but am instantly in love’.

I also am not particularly interested in reading kidfic. Omegaverse, mpreg etc is all fine (and very good, in fact!), but, while there are sometimes exceptions, I usually don’t want to read about the kid coming along. It could be the fact that I don’t want children myself influencing that preference!

There’s nothing wrong with all of these tropes, of course, I just personally don’t usually like to read them.

U: Share three of your favourite fic writers and why you like them so much.

Oh, another extremely difficult question! The thing is, there are soo many amazing fic writers! I am not sure that I’ve got any favourite writers per se, as I’ll happily devour a good fic from anyone, so can I share 3 of my favourite fics instead? (Hopefully that’s not cheating!)

A Devotion by TroubleIWant – this is my most favourite Sterek fic ever, I read it years ago and it has lived in my head rent free ever since. A fab medieval AU.

Stars Above, Stones Below by Destina – a wonderful Merthur fic that I have read several times over. Chef's kiss.

Breathe You In by LapisLazuli – a Johnlock fic that is not only Omegaverse but is also a The Sentinel tv show AU, with Sherlock as an Alpha Sentinel whose 5 senses are super enhanced and John as an Omega Guide who helps him control his senses and avoid zoning out from overstimulation. OMG I wish there were more Omegaverse/Sentinel blended fics out there, for any fandom, as it is such an amazing combination that fits together so well and has such interesting potential!

These 3 are fics that have stuck in my head and I have remembered and loved them for a long time, many years in fact. I highly recommend them! But also, at the moment my current obsession is utterly for XueXiao and I am working my way (far more slowly than I’d like) through the catalogue of fics for them on AO3 and I’d just recommend to anyone to read any and all of those fics, as the ones I’ve read so far are all AMAZING and it’s too hard to single any out! Read them all! And enjoy, but also prepare your heart before you go in for all the delicious pain that awaits you!

took me a while to choose bc ive got a complicated relationship w/ my writing in english but!! im pretty proud of this entire part of Give me hope in silence (it's easier, it's kinder) :')

He dragged him closer, held him closer, to keep him there, to try and keep him -and Tim wanted to laugh, if it wasn't so pitiful- safe.  Didn't he know? Wasn't he aware of how much he wanted to burn and drag the entire circus with him to Hell? To destroy everything so completely that it wouldn't leave a trace? Didn't he know he hated him?

Jon made a soft noise with the back of his throat and his eyelashes tickled Tim's face, and he had to push him for a second to take a deep breath, one, two, three, feeling a sting behind his eyes. He was angry, he was furious, and he Was going to die. No matter Jon's hesitant hands cradling his face, taking the excess of the beginning of a tear. No matter the awkward kiss he planted on his cheek, right below his eye. No matter the words that tried to come out of his mouth borne out of pain and regret and love, that hurt on his throat when Tim swallowed them with a kiss, questions that he couldn't and didn't want to answer.

And so he didn't, and they kept kissing as if tomorrow neither of them were going to die.

aaand the entire final part of the same fic:

Time later Tim didn't know if the light that filtered through the binds of the window were the streetlamps at the side of the motel or the sun that started making its way up, marking the beginning of the end, but it hardly mattered in that fragile moment that seemed to dilate in time. Jon had his face locked in Tim's neck, arms wrapped around his body as the slow rise and fall of his chest tempted Tim into going back to sleep, his own hands resting quietly on his back after absently drawing circles for a while.

He could hear Jon's voice from time to time, and despite lightly wondering if he was talking on his sleep, or if he was awake and thought Tim wasn't, (or if he was awake and Knew Tim, too, was awake and listening), he didn't say anything as he mutely pleaded for him to not die.

After that things were quiet. And peaceful, almost. And, for a moment, Tim desperately wished they weren't living through the calm before the storm.

i wrote this years ago but i still love... when the pov character repeats an emotion on the narration but their actions betray it? unreliable narrator bc they're too torn to be honest ;o;

technically speaking im more of a varying-degree-lenght one-shot person but only bc i just cant finish writing my long fics ;o; i do love planning and have long documents full of bullet points and timelines and dialogues but sitting down to write? 😬😬😬

YEAH of course i reread my own stuff bc nowhere else i can read the things i wanna read and also bc it fucks 😤💪💪💪

sometimes i reread my old, OLD stuff though, im talking about when i was 10 to 16, and i laugh bc its not... its not Good, exactly, but you can feel how much of my heart i put in it so i cant help but be charmed either way 🤗💞

2. Tell us about what you’re most looking forward to writing – in your current project, or a future project

I mean, I've got a Lot of ideas n it's hard to pick sometimes sdlfksd. I think rn, there's a scene in my "Magnus actually talks to the Red Robe instead of ignoring everything" AU (which still needs a name lsdkfsd) that's I'm really looking forward to but idk if I should say, bc Spoilers. I'm very excited about finishing that, n I'm almost there I think!

OC-wise, I'm doing a lot of lore-building for Georgie n it's making me excited about actually writing the story so :O!!!

16. Tried anything new with your writing lately? (style, POV, genre, fandom?)

This is not related to TAZ or OC's but it is writing, so I'ma say it counts. But I've been trying to do more short poetry bc I tend to want to go on and on and on with things, which isn't often the best way to say what I want to say. I write a lot of what can be classified as "spoken word" I guess, which basically just means it's written to be performed instead of just read. But I'm trying to limit myself to doing short things recently bc I like the challenge! I think it's goin' pretty well!

20. Tell us the meta about your writing that you really want to ramble to people about (symbolism you’ve included, character or relationship development that you love, hidden references, callbacks, or clues for future scenes?)

Gonna delve into three fics below the cut: When The Sky Comes Falling Down, Archaeology Excavation on My Body, and Buzzcuts and Braids (find here, here, and here!). A lot of this is just little things from my life that I've added into the fics so :O

When The Sky Comes Falling Down: First thing I can think of is when Lup gets poisoned. I put it in mainly bc I think one of the twins getting poisoned is a fun Glamour Springs parallel. Also playing on the idea of "media poisoning the minds of innocent youth into thinking they're a different gender" very literally bc that's something that's still Very Prevalent when I try to find literally any trans resources.

Also, idk if this is really symbolism or anything, but I write the Raven Queen as a strict but caring parental figure. I say parental and not "mother" because mother figures often seem to be forever forgiving/kind and that's not how I see the Raven Queen. She has limits but the more good you do for her, the more willing she might be to stretch them.

And to dive a little into the depths of what the transformation spell took: Cornelian cherry represent good health and the salamander tongue I just threw in bc it sounded spooky and DnD like sdflkksdf.

Finally the line “I’d rather have a happy sister than a sad brother” is based on how my parents reacted to me coming out :b! Though it was much more "happy son than sad daughter" but you get the point sldkfd.

Archaeology Excavation on My Body: The big thing in this- which I think that only you, Gab, have pointed out- is the switch between the use of "Madam Director" and "Lucretia". She's "Madam Director" when she's behind her desk, or when she's coming to Angus to talk about work. But when she puts herself on the same level as him- sits across from him instead of behind her desk, helps him take notes- we switch to "Lucretia" because that's a very Lucretia thing to do, not a very Boss thing to do.

More than ever, this fic is based on my experiences and heavily reliant on things I've gone through/am going through. I wanna point out the fact that Angus is resistant to pain medication despite being in severe pain all the time, thinking he can get through it without the help, or that using it would make him "weaker". It's something that nearly everyone I've talked to with chronic pain deals with. Somewhere between society and doctors telling you that you just need to be stronger/try harder, our brains tend to read that as "I should be able to hand this without any help like a "normal" person would." This is why I had Lucretia very gently, but firmly, help Angus list all the reasons why he can and should take the pain medication if he needs it.

Overall, Angus's experiences, being based on my own, are about fibromyalgia- which I got diagnosed with after making this fic, and is why that's not a tag on it sldkfsd.

Buzzcuts and Braids: Kinda obvious, but the main symbolism in this is giving yourself a buzzcut/really short haircut. It's meant to represent change- Lucretia's change from Lucretia into Madam Director and then back to Lucretia again. It's about keeping your guard up/not feeling safe enough to let it down. I've buzzed my hair a few times, mainly because of things I wanted or needed to significantly change for my (mental) health.

Taako and Lup's ever-changing hair colors is mostly inspired by my older sibling, who has a different hair color every time I see him sldfksd. She actually influences a lot of my Taako and Lup, partly bc Sibling Energy and partly bc they're the one who introduced me to TAZ.

I love, love, love the relationship between Taako and Lucretia specifically in this. Taako isn't the first one to come to Lucretia for a haircut, Lup is. But eventually their relationship grows past just cutting hair to where Taako is coming to her for advice rather than just to cope with a death. I'm really proud of this paragraph in particular:

“And now it’s us,” Lucretia said, leaning back on one hand, and using the other to motion around the room as if motioning to the entire ship itself. “It’s the seven of us, against everything. because I think it truly shows the love/be loved for dynamic that has grown on the Starblaster, especially between Taako and Lucretia in this fic.

There are a few lines that just call back earlier in the fic for this. The line "don't you dare fuck it up" used to show how Taako and Lucretia have grown around each other. Similarly with the line “I don’t have to talk about my shit with you” though that one represents more of a revert in their relationship than a step forward.

And then "The world won’t end if you let yourself relax." / "She made herself relax. The world kept going." is just proving how far Lucretia has come to work through all the trauma she's been in after the Hunger. I've found that it's easier to grow my hair out when I'm not as worried about the things I was when I cut it and that's what I'm trying to get across in Lucretia.

I also wanna call attention to the wine/glass metaphor, which I was vv proud of. There are a lot of fics that delve into Taako's bitterness towards things Lucretia has done, but not as much about his bitterness about things that Lup has done. Taako is very bitter about a lot of things in this- he's upset about Lup dying, he's upset about the things Lucretia has done, and it's very obvious, like a red stain on a white carpet. It's sort of referenced in the second to last paragraph as well, with the forest fire mentioned at the end vs. the tree Taako set on fire at the beginning. He'll react one way and it'll seep into everything else he does.

In the opposite direction, Lup grieving/being bitter can also be very sharp, but while I think Taako closes in on himself to protect himself, Lup lashes out. She's the broken glass, she's sharp and dangerous until someone takes the time to pick through the pieces and help clean up. She needs people in a way that Taako doesn't really get and I like to imagine there's sorta a resentment there, on both ends.

I could explain every little detail of this fic but I'll spare you of that sldfsd. Last thing I gotta say is that Lucretia giving Lup a mullet is just a reference to Barry having a mullet in the GN. That's all sldfsd.

Can’t think of anything I have very strong feelings about except the thing where people act like Robin has the mom role in the Strawhats, I really feel like people just pigeonhole her in that because of her age which, as someone her age, is weird lol. She’s sisterly at most! Zoro is also brotherly with Chopper and no one calls him a dad! There’s nothing particularly mom-ish about a calm and even personality!

Gonna be embarrassing again and say genderbending..... Tumblr’s over their genderbending-is-problematic phase right lol? Anyway when I first got into One Piece back in the day, Impel Down and Iva happened, and all the official SBS genderbends as a result and oh boy looking back my obsession was probably part of my sexual awakening lmao I had this huge folder full of pixiv fanart (wonder if it’s still on my old pc somewhere?) that are sadly unsourceable now due to their original posts long being deleted, and I remember uploading them to my livejournal. Crocodile was especially a big favourite of mine lol. Anyway I would die to see some sexy lady Crocodile again (and yes i still hold onto /that/ fan theory ahah)

Honestly on a meta level there’s probably a lot of other things, we always wish our fandoms were more complete, there’s never going to be a comprehensive list. I do wish there was less separation between the canon analysis people and the fic writing people, and I wish there were groups of writers who enjoy reading and hyping each other’s fics like I’ve seen in other fandoms where the writers are also big fic readers, it’d be nice to be part of a circle like that. 1. Tell us about your current project(s)  –   what’s it about, how’s progress, what do you love most about it?

oh lord. that’s a... question. i have. so many current projects, i don’t even know where to start. this is gonna be long so please bear with me lol i’ll probably give more detail for some fics over others, and i’ll only go over fics I’ve got documents for because otherwise we’d be here forever.

The Art of Love: so this one is obvious because it’s been in progress for the last 2ish years? no i think it’s three now. I won’t go into detail with this because the fic is roughly halfway through, so there’s plenty of content for that up! I’d say the progress with that fic is actually going really well, though. Unlike Alliance, which took 8 years--five years of writing, three of editing--TAoL has been up for way less time, and is already about to hit the halfway mark! I really need to get back to it, tbh because it’s been way too long since my last update.

Honor Bound (sequel to Alliance): so this is.... kind of on pause. I’ve got the first three chapters written, but my focus has been more on TAoL when it comes to my more complicated, long running stories, so HB has taken a backseat. I think I won’t get back to working on the Allied Nations Saga until after TAoL is done, in all honesty.

Find Me: this is my HS AU, which has been on the back burner forever and I feel terrible because I think it may honestly be my most popular fic. Unfortunately, AUs/slice of life stuff is difficult for me because I’m more interested in politics, so I lost momentum on this fic. It is about halfway done. I have a good chunk of chapter six written, but not enough that I could say I’m close to finishing it.

It Eats Your Heart: obviously I just started this one, and it’s a horror fic. I’ve really gotta sit down and do some major plotting on it because I only have some very vague ideas currently.

Pearl-Filled Lungs: this is one of like three ningyo AUs I have--the other are pirate/ningyo AUs (and ones actually a selkie not a ningyo). I started it last year for the GaaLee fest, and it’s been sitting unfinished for far too long. I finally sat down recently and plotted the whole thing out, so I’m hoping to get back to working on it soon! It’s only 5 chapters in total, so I don’t think it’ll take me super long to get through once I sit down and do it.

Who Dares to Love Forever: This is a working title, and I may change it. This is a fic idea I’ve had for a couple years, inspired by the song Who Wants to Live Forever by Queen. This particular fic is a vehicle for my sage mode!rock lee headcanon, and explores just how effective Chiyo giving Gaara her life would have been given she was an old biddy. So the idea for this fic is that Gaara’s running out of time because Chiyo only had so much to offer.

Absolution: this is another fic that I’ve had on the back burner for years. it was initially inspired by art by @brianadoesotherjunk but quickly spiraled into something much bigger because of course it did. This particular fic is one I’m extremely excited about. I need to go back over the first part, because I feel like it’s not quite right, but I do technically have the first part done. This fic follows Gaara struggling with bouts of narcolepsy that trigger nightmares induced by trauma and guilt from his childhood. These nightmares are incredibly dangerous for obvious reasons, but even more so because Temari’s baby is on the way. Temari and Shikamaru are married, living in the Kazekage estate, and with their baby coming and both needing/wanting to get back to work, they also need a nanny. Unbeknownst to Gaara, the year prior to the events of the fic, Maito Gai died, succumbing to the 8th Gate finally, and Lee has since been spiraling. His depression has become so self-destructive that he’s been taken off active duty. Shikamaru, along with the rest of the Konoha 12 (minus Neji and Sasuke), get together and discuss what to do. Tenten believes that Lee being a nanny would be the perfect thing. And so Rock Lee is sent to Suna, hired by Shikamaru and Temari as their live-in nanny...

We Need Not Be Yellow Tulips in a Garden of Gardenia’s, Yet We Go the Way of the Red Camellia: true to form, I decided that a hanahaki fic was something I had to do, and I was not going to pass up the chance at being as Extra As Possible with the flowery language, ergo the ridiculous title. I’ve gotten part way through the first chapter of this fic, but the whole thing is roughly plotted out and each chapter title is just as extra as the whole fic’s title.

Thirteen Strokes: so this is a fic I have--once again--had on my mind for ages, and--once again, because I am nothing if not a caricature of myself--inspired by a Florence+the Machine song, All This and Heaven Too. I started writing this the other night, as I wanna use it for GaaLee bingo. It’ll be 13 chapters, as per the 13 strokes that it takes to make the character for love, ai, in Japanese. The fic is from Gaara’s PoV, and follows his journey with and his relationship to love, with lots of worldbuilding and politics because it wouldn’t be an Eeri Original without those things.

Scarification: this is another idea for bingo based around the prompt shinshoubyou, which is a fictional disease where your emotions cause physical marks on you

Fill in the [  ]: another bingo idea, based around the prompt bouaishoukoigun, the fictional disease where you forget the person you love if it’s unrequited.

The Eagle’s Augury: an idea that allows me to play around with more worldbuilding and focus on Karura. In this fic, the curse (mentioned briefly on the Naruto wikia) that has led to every single Kazekage being assassinated, is coming for Gaara, and Karura is trying to warn him from beyond the grave. At the same time, Temari and Shikamaru’s marriage is approaching, and their ceremony is being held in Suna, with all the fan fair a marriage for someone from the Kazekage line should see. Again, another fic inspired by Miss Florence+the Machine, the song is Mother

Pomegranate Sun: this is a fic that I am... so excited about. Another fic that was originally inspired by a Queen song, Under Pressure, and has of course taken on a life of its own. This fic, I am actually going to be writing with @ghoste-catte! It’s an arranged marriage trope, and I’m super pumped for it! We’ve only got a little bit started, and it has obviously not taken priority for either of us since we both have a lot of fics on our plates.

The Ballad of the Dragon and the Phoenix: this is a fic I’m really excited but is going to take a LOT of research to get off the ground. I had this idea sometime last year, I wanna say? This fic is another self-indulgent headcanon about Lee’s origins, his family, etc. This fic starts when Gaara shows up on Lee’s doorstep, asking him to accompany him to another country for reasons Lee cannot understand. Gaara has been in talks with Phoenix Kingdom, hoping to forge a new relationship only to find that the Emperor wants to use shinobi for militaristic purposes. Lee doesn’t understand what help he could possibly offer the Kazekage, but he can’t very well turn him down.

okay, i’m gonna stop there. these are the ones I have titles and documents for, and honestly that’s probably way more than you wanted to know about lol

5. What character that you’re writing do you most identify with? 

Despite the fact that most of my fics end up from Gaara’s PoV, I actually identify with Lee the most!

8. Is what you like to write the same as what you like to read?

Yes! Which is hard to find, tbh, because I am a sucker for political dramas with slow burn romances, but I don’t see a lot of that in the GaaLee fandom. I’m not as into like slice of life or short stories where the characters get together quick, I’m really not into established relationship fics unless it’s a sequel, so I tend to avoid those. I like AUs but it really depends on the AU, because I ultimately prefer the canon and I love seeing the way people write the shinobi world and all its rules and cultures and things. I’m just a big fan of worldbuilding, politics, and slow slow burns. Not this 25k SLOW BURN! crap because that is NOT a slow burn. I wanna see a fic that’s 200k words in and they still haven’t even figured out they’re in love! I like stories I can really sink my teeth into, ya know?

17. Do you think readers perceive your work - or you - differently to you? What do you think would surprise your readers about your writing or your motivations?

Oh gosh. I generally don’t think too much about it except like hoping people don’t think I’m like a stuck up asshole because of how I talk about my writing, writing in general, my hcs, etc. I mean, obviously I don’t expect everyone in this fandom to like me--and there are ppl I’ve gone out of my way to be vocally against because they do nasty shit--but largely I feel like I come across as too intense, so even the general population of GaaLee fans that I do want to interact with I’m always a lil nervous that people secretly don’t like me and basically are like “oh god this bitch again” when they see me in the tags. But I just get really excited and invested in my ideas, and honestly for the longest time this fandom was SO small and there weren’t a lot of people putting out content regularly so it was like a handful of us so I think it made me more emphatic about GaaLee lol I think I always like assume people aren’t as excited about my writing as I am or that people are like “too much politic, i need more romance”.

I’m always surprised when people really love my AUs, like Kado or Find Me have had such fantastic reception, and it’s like people just eat that shit up so much. And then I look at like Alliance or Art of Love and get kind of confused because I think by comparison those are more interesting and more developed than my AUs. I put a shit ton of work into everything I write, especially anything that requires research, so it’s not to say that I do less work per say, just that I feel like TAoL and things like it are more interesting and more developed, and the relationship feels.... somehow more to me there than in an AU.

a lot of my motivation really just comes from the lack of content this fandom had for so many years, and the fact that Naruto could have been a much more interesting series and I love worldbuilding so much. I think my motivation for each fic is different though. Like Alliance was started because I wanted to write something different from what was mainly in the fandom at the time because mind you I started that in 2010. But my motivation for TAoL is more wanting to tell a beautiful story with a complex narrative that looks at the failings of the shinobi world. Whereas like any slice of life fic is really just meant to be a fun break. And sometimes I write something literally just because I wanted to fulfill that trope for the GaaLee fandom--again, a lot of my ideas have been sitting for years and years and years (TAoL was an idea I had literally right after starting Alliance, but I didn’t get to it until 2017), so a lot of ideas that are old are because at the time that trope hadn’t been fulfilled yet in the fandom though that’s changing a lot with the recent GaaLee Renaissance of the last couple years.

aaand okay so I’m usually really bad at self-reccing so I’ll just go ahead and do a top five fics and a few meta links - this is not necessarily my most read stuff or whatever but if I have to choose in between my own children I will ;) also sticking to asoiaf/jb-centric stuff or it turns into a problem lmao [also I’m not putting some flowers bloom dead on this because I don’t wanna rec stuff I haven’t finished]

in the darkness on the edge of town: (jb, hooker au, explicit content) okay I don’t even know how to put this without sounding ridiculous but I honestly think it’s some of the best writing I put out period and I ended up putting an amount of blood sweat and tears I hadn’t anticipated into it but I loved doing it overall (because I also went and put in it everything I like writing about ngl and yes I have a thing for hooker au and I apparently succeeded in making it feel like a springsteen song so I’m proud of myself thank you) and I’m really happy with how it turned out. also, I gave myself confirmation that if springsteen’s involved my productivity arises.

I'm not a pretty girl, that's not what I do: (jb, brienne-centric with focus on her issues with her looks and femininity) long story short, I didn’t say it in the a/n when I posted this for the spitefic series because I wanted to check the reactions to it but now that it’s been months I can say it: this is the most personal thing I’ve ever put to fic in my entire life including specifically recycling my own childhood experiences into brienne’s and tackling directly 80% of the issues me and her have in common. and I think it came out pretty damn good and I also was flattered with the response I got to it because a lot of people commented about how relatable those issues were and just, this damned fic means a lot to me so have it ;)

conventions and inconveniences of the stage series (theon/robb, jaime/brienne, jonc/brynden tully for now, opera singers au series): okay this is a series so I’m cheating BUT I’m just really attached to all of the fics in it because a) I love opera and I was delighted that people actually read them and liked it regardless of the obscure subjects, b) they gave me the chance to branch out a lot, c) for now I had fics for two ships I dearly love (throbb and jb) and that have meant a lot to me in this fandom AND then the crackship I cultivated with a lot of love and care to which I gave one of my favorite operas in existence and I loved writing each single one of these fics and I think I’ve done a pretty good job with them and sorry but I picked the perfect operas for all of them and I’m dying on that hill. don carlo is 100% the throbb opera and fidelio is 10000% the jb opera you won’t take that from me. ;)

all knights are gallant and all maids are beautiful (jb, side-jc, genderbend): admittedly I wrote this thing out of spite because I hate that people refuse to see that jc is, in fact, a darned abusive dynamic but they wouldn’t say that if the genders were reversed so I went and genderbent all three of them just to prove the damned point of it and other than being very satisfied at how it turned out it was a fairly cathartic exercise to write it because that issue is really sitting badly on my stomach and has been for ages. so yeah I’ll put this one on the list also because ngl I liked writing male!brienne way more than I thought I would and overall I did have a pretty interesting time figuring out how to keep them IC while switching genders and it was in general a very good writing exercise for a lot of things and I think it came out pretty well.

and give all the love that you have in your soul (jb, jonc/omc, jonc/rhaegar, time travel): I thought about reccing something less widely read for the last spot but fuck it I’m going to put this one fic for a lot of reasons as in: a) I actually brewed on it for two years before writing it is2g it was a labor of love, b) I’m extremely proud of myself for having written time travel without losing my shit over the technicalities (I hate writing time travel) and the planning and the likes and I also think it didn’t have plot holes so score for me, c) this is where I admit that I 100% purposefully put jon connington as co-protagonist in here because I love him and I don’t think he gets enough fandom exposure and while I write him more than about anyone else I think until this fic I hadn’t managed to find a large audience for fic where he was a lead, so yes I totally did it because I knew a fic with a jb main pairing would mean more exposure and I was delighted to see that at the end of it people cared about his half of the storyline as much as they cared about the jb half of it. also I think brienne and jonc would be absolutely good potential friends if they met so I really was excited to explore that dynamic and yeah tldr this damned thing was a bitch to write but I loved doing it and I loved the feedback it had so that’s going to be this one.

there, that’s the fic. as far as the meta goes, a lot more quickly (of the meta I have on ao3 because I’m still on dash only) :

Brienne of Tarth and her importance as a literary character & Brienne and Jaime’s relationship: a textual analysis of their journey: I put together these two darned novels of analysis in a single piece that I gave to gwendoline christie at a con once because I felt like I should go there with something that would make clear how much brienne means to me as a character and then I threw in the jb stuff as well because I could. the first piece isn’t as in-depth but again as brienne is the only character I related to as much as I do for those reasons I really felt strongly about that meta subject. the second piece is basically me going through 90% of the relevant moments of jb history in the books and analyzing the shit out of it and not to brag but I like to think it was pretty good text analysis so here you go.

Why a Jaime/Brienne Endgame in the Books Makes More Sense Than One Might Think, Based on Previous Works of GRRM's: one of the things that irks me more about nihilistic/fatalistic readings of these two/of asoiaf is that most people who write them and dismiss jb as not important or not important enough to have overall plot relevance have not actually read grrm’s other books. since I happen to have read most of them and to have seen that he has patterns that are not nihilistic at all, I took the liberty to rant about it.

An Analysis of Jaime's Dream in ASOS: this was when I dissected jaime’s asos dream line by line and while I don’t think it’s particularly groundbreaking information it’s pretty much encompassing 90% of the arguments I use while theorizing about these two/jaime’s issues specifically and I think I worded it well enough, so here we go, that’s the third.

Three guesses who’s gonna be my first one THAT’S RIGHT IT’S ALLISON MARYWHALLISON @marywhal ADVENTUREZONE. I could gush abt allison’s writing all day but suffice to say her prose is fantastic, her story arcs are always poignant and satisfying and uplifting and she’s super nice to boot!! Honestly if anyone out there HASN’T read allison’s fic by now what are you doing. Go read it. It’s Excellent Fucking Content. I feel like a lot of people know bury the lead and all the things you prayed for but I really love these unfinished creatures and have very fond memories of waiting for update days and being so excited to see those emails pop up

I have so much love for @anonymousalchemist’s writing also!! Incredibly good for taking a concept that I wouldn’t have ever considered and making it impossible not to be invested in. Obviously all the things you prayed for is Amazing and I love that fic to pieces but also old man taako was I think one of the first taz fics I ever read and I maintain a big soft spot for it. Lich suit is also a BIG fave I still think about it a lot, also a prime example of how fucking hilarious iz’s writing is while at the same time hitting hard when it needs to o:

Thirdly idk if they have a tumblr but blueshine over on ao3 has some AMAZING stuff that I love so much. Lup Cons a Goddess Into Murdering Her Brother (For Fun and Profit) and See You Later are two of my all-time favourite fics (I still haven’t finished the latter bc it’s my Had A Bad Day fic and I’m saving the final chapter for when I rly need it), they hit all the right notes for me and dig into so many interesting relationship dynamics as well as being absolutely beautifully written. This might be an odd thing to pick out but I really like the way they show fights between couples and the process of working through them! It’s very honest and good and always ends with the couple being stronger for it and I’m v much here for it

And honestly okay listen if that’s your shit, the development of Jame and Tori’s dynamic is going to wreck you fully.  Because like...the thing that always makes me a little skeptical in those relationships is “but isn’t that kind of a lot of pressure and also what if that person is wrong” (Brenneth and Crispin may have tipped you off to this area of interest) and Jame and Tori are just.  *chef kiss* so good.  It’s all about the two of them learning the areas where the other is Always Right and, by contrast, the areas where the other is Usually Wrong, and learning to live with themselves by living with each other, and it’s my FUCKING WEAKNESS.  (Spoiler alert, Tori Does Not Always Know What’s Right, or at least if he does he’s often scared of it, becAUSE HE’S A VERY COMPLETE CHARACTER WHO IS ALSO AIMED DIRECTLY AT MY HEART OF HEARTS.)  

Dark of the Moon (the second book) is where Tori takes up his role as deuteragonist properly, rather than just haunting Jame’s life like a ghost, and like.

They’re so alike and so different all at once, and there’s this running Thing of mistaking them for each other that’s just used to its fullest and most disastrously heartwrenching effect in the battle at the end of Dark of the Moon, it’s.

A lot.

And I know exactly the line that you’re talking about, the one that made you fall for Jame all at once and catastrophically, because it’s also the line that took me from “mildly interested” to “RIDE OR DIE” at the tender age of thirteen.  To anyone who might still be on the fence, it’s this one:

“Tori, her twin brother, had not been among the slain.  If he had escaped, as she desperately hoped, let him call her honorless when she put sword and ring in his hands, for she would accept such a judgement from no one else.”

Like, at the end of God Stalk, when Jame faces Ishtier--I think that’s the only time that all three names of the Three Faced God are spoken aloud at once, and it’s CERTAINLY the only time it happens in a temple, and it’s beautifully foreshadowed by a line in the very first chapter, did you know that shit????  Did you know that in the very first chapter Jame lists seven languages that she can not just speak but read fluently, and have you ever thought about how magnificently that showcases the sort of obsessive education she mentions as part of Kencyr tradition????  Did you know that Marcarn is the only person in these whole-ass books who is Always Kind And Good In All Ways and that he proves it so fucking early by being summoned out of a suicidal catatonia by the rathorn war cry to save his dead lord’s daughter?????

Uh...anyway.  Turns out that “I can’t write as much as I’d like to” just means “sorry but this isn’t going to be very coherent” and I am sorry about that, but like.  These books mean a lot to me.  To anyone who’s interested I’m doing a podcast and the next episode is just going to be me vibrating loudly with excitement into the microphone for a full hour, because we’re starting the books properly.

What's your favourite fandom? What do you want to make but not have time for? Do you have a go-to comfort trope?

I don’t so much have a favorite fandom as I have favorite playgrounds.

…fuck that was an incredibly Selina Kyle thing to say. (I was a Catwoman fan first, Batman came later)

This got really rambly, so put things under the cut so I don’t take up too much of people’s dashboards.

Right now, I’ve been nestled into a large cacophony of DC and Marvel comics, partially because I’m playing Meddling Metas (the tabletop that Ada’s from and that @superkamigodespurrdragonofmars is running) and partially because there are so many interpretations of characters and that’s fucking fascinating for me.

Like right now, I’ve been doing this experiment in playing Avengers Academy. Because it’s the most high key 2013 thing I’ve seen, all it’s missing is Homestuck and OFF references. The characterizations of various Marvel characters is so odd and I mean odd in the most fond way possible. I can send Nebula, galactic assassin and daughter of Thanos, to go graffiti her name on Nick Fury’s office. The main three students, the Harry Potter-esque “Founding Three” is Tony Stark, Janet van Dyne, and Loki. It has an energy that’s very similar to whenever I go and read Golden-Silver Age DC comics. Watching the Fire Emblem-like social interactions is the highlight of the game because everyone has the same animations and the dialogue is just so. So. 2013. I can’t really pin it down other than that timestamp.

On the DC end of things, I’ve been having a blast catching up on @chrisdee‘s Cat Tale’s series. I wasn’t expecting to like Doris as much as I do, but she’s an intensely fun character that stands up against Dee’s fun characterization of Catwoman. Is there a Doris fanclub? I want in. The Russia thing was, to paraphrase Dee’s Kyle, “my kink”.

Other than that, current fandoms I’ve been having fun interacting with have been ROTTMNT (though on a much more laid back basis than a couple months ago due to accidentally pushing myself too hard with socializing on that front) and GW2. With Fortuna coming out today, I might delve back into Warframe fic-writing. Maybe.

Second question, big thing I wanna do but don’t have time for. The projects I have don’t necessarily have time concerns so much as it’s energy. 

Low-Key is going to be an on-going project for the next several years, because I’ve got the next “book” in the Rogue Hero trilogy (Hackity-Hack, Cold Front, and [CENSORED]) planned, along with Interlude: Key Distribution, the next duo part of Low-Key (which I’ll name drop as An Opportunaty to Learn. It’s all set in Atlantis and it heavily features La’gann because man, does that boy need fic in his tag that actually has him as a main character), then an interlude for Theo’s origin story, then Network Takeover, and then the planned pay off to the Pen Pals subplot (the Arbitrator stuff name-dropped from time to time). Then there’s a whole other “book” and an interlude that’s gotta do with one of Theo’s bio-family coming up and that whole thing shaking the setting I’ve got going over there (long story short in a confusing manner, Theo’s gonna get some good volunteer work done and Leonard’s gonna be in hysterics).

I’m gonna finish Mean, but cute, but progress on that is slow because right now it’s mostly my vent fic for “Things Mare wants to do in Meddling Metas, but cannot because Stage Fright”. It’s also a neat playground for some magic mechanics that I’ve been working on for a bit that might feature in Low-Key because DC is a lazy bitch and doesn’t actually HAVE an established magic system that SON OF A BITCH COMPANY. It’s also a place where I get to write a Catwoman-esque character and honestly, that is so utterly my Thing that it’s not even funny. Astraia is a walking, talking example of all of the things that go into my character design process and it’s not even funny. Okay it’s a little funny considering she was an accidental creation.

Other than that, I don’t have any huge dream projects that’d require more time. If I had more money, I’d go and commission so many artists. So many. I’ve got a spreadsheet of artists and their commission posts and what I’d want to commission them for. Fuckit, lemme shill a few of them.

For Low-Key, I’d commission filibusterfrog because their lines and colors match a lot of what’s going on in my head as I go into Theo-mode for narration. It’s actually frog’s indirect fault that Theo’s theme color went from green to blue: a lot of frog’s art that feature’s blue kinda vibrates with a Theo energy? I don’t know how to describe it other than that. Like I’m a noted Blue Bitch when it comes to colors, but Theo was very strongly gonna be green until I saw some of frog’s magic scar pictures. I think it was specifically the Cold variant of Chaos Bolt?

For Meddling Metas, my go-to artist is hyperbali. Kyla has really great lines, colors, and a very wonderful sense of pulling together outfits. Their picture they did of Ada? Is amazing and I love it to BITS.

For Mean, but cute, I’d go with either frog again or Floh. Floh’s got a really nice lineless style that I super love and could see being very good for Astraia. Her tarot cards are also super legit and something I’ve been tempted to grab for a specific Meddling Metas character.

Now, go-to comfort trope. In general, I am a huge Romance fan, like I will go into Character x Reader tags because there’s such a plethora of content that’s constantly put out that fits that. More specifically, I will always, always enjoy Found Family (sighs deeply, motioning at Low-Key) and Mutual Pining (SIGHS LOUDER, MOTIONS AT UNRELEASED LOW-KEY CONTENT). In general, the easy way to tell is if I write it as a celebrated thing (like the grumpy pants dad nature of Leonard in Low-Key or the sci-fi nature of Theo’s magic as examples), I most likely deeply enjoy it. Something else I deeply enjoy reading too is reading about a character working through childhood trauma inflicted on them by their parents. When done well, it’s a really comforting experience because I can point at them and go “I can do it too”.

For the Fanfiction Asks: 1-5 and 35-40 please!

1) How old were you when you first starting writing fanfiction?

My first fic published I published on the web was a little Teen Titans drabble thing I did when I was 15. That’s back in 2005, mind you. XD

2) What fandoms do you write for and do you have a particular favourite if you write for more than one?

I’ve mostly been a Sonic the Hedgehog fanfic writer (I had a massive AU that pretty much ran for about 8 years before being quietly put on indefinite hiatus for reasons) for the past decade, but since I’ve pretty much done about three Darkwing Duck fics in the past months and still doing so, I guess you can say that’s a good answer too.

3) Do you prefer writing OC’s or reader inserts? Explain your answer.

Really, I have more fun with untapped canonical characters that you can’t prove the most oddest headcanons for, but I do enjoy creating “background OCs”, which I use for world building. Most of them are simply there for a brief scene or act as a secondary.

Some particular favourite examples of such was Dr. Eric Thizon the Porcupine for my Sonic AU (a soft spoken timid doctor who gets stuck with the most unruly patient because he doesn’t ask too many questions about the situation that led to it), and Rick the dog and Ms. Mustela from my little Darkwing stories focusing on QuackerJack (the former is QuackerJack’s cubicle neighbor, and the latter is his therapist… Neither of whom I’ve actually really drawn so their name is the placeholders).

Also in my Sonic AU was my avatar character, “Rae”, who existed as a neighbor to housesit for any readers who were concerned about the main characters’ house during the adventure.

I also have what I refer to as “Halfsies”, which are just AU versions of preexisting obscure characters.

4) What is your favourite genre to write for?

I just like “General” fiction mostly, because it can be very flexible, but I also like to play around with “Suspense” and occasionally I can make a fairly decent “Humor” story. :P

5) If you had to choose a favourite out of all of your multi chaptered stories, which would it be and why?

Gosh, that’s so hard to decide. I’ve mostly been been pretty pleased with my stories over the years, but if I wanna be fresh, I’ll just say that currently “White Noise” (a “Supplemental Fic” for Darkwing that’s about QuackerJack and Claire) would be a good answer, because I think that’s the first multi chapter story I did in years that didn’t take very long to plan out and write. The whole thing was a spontaneous one that didn’t take much longer than a week to finish, and it was a fun one to make.

35) Do you share your story ideas with anyone else or do you keep them close to your chest?

Sometimes I post teasers. Back in high school, I used to bounce ideas off my best friend, and there was this one plot twist that I told her about almost a YEAR in advance before I implemented the idea, giving me enough to to build up the subtle foreshadow. XD

36) Can you give us a spoiler for one of your WIP’s?

That was not his ceiling.

This was not his apartment.

This was not his couch.

He didn’t even own a couch.

37) What’s the funniest story you’ve written?

Usually my “best” humor bits happen within the stories themselves regardless of the genre, but apparently the one fic I did where QuackerJack got a mild case of the flu made a good amount of people laugh with its absurd chain of events and the stinger at the end. I did intend it to be a lighthearted take on the “sick day” trope, so I guess I succeeded. XD

38) If you could collab with any other writer on here, who would it be? (Perhaps this question will inspire some collabs!) If you’re shy, don’t tag the blog, just name it.

I’ve only really fic collaborated a few times over the years, but the thing is is that I’m either too fast on my part, or you can really, REALLY see what parts I did because I’m just a bit odd in my style.

Also, I have a bit of a low opinion of my own writing, so I end up spending the whole collaboration writing period fretting that I’ve either bungled the whole thing, or that I haven’t been up to snuff. ^^;

39) Do you prefer first, second or third person?

Third. It lets the narrative be observant, as well as I can kinda snark in a meta sense in the writing. Generally, the narrative is written in my own speaking style, so if you’ve read my Darkwing fics, you may have noticed the consistent referral of the “dingle-dangles” of QuackerJack’s hat, because I don’t know what those things the bells hang off of are called technically and I refer to those as dingle-dangles. Regardless of the severity of the scene.

40) Do people know you write fanfiction?

Yes. In fact, I submitted a print out of some of my early Sonic ones for my Senior Portfolio in High School (a mandatory presentation you have to make to be considered to be able to graduate), as part of the “Creative Writing” back in 2008.

3. Name three favorite writers.

Ahh, this is a toughie! I’m going to list three writers from different fandoms that I admire a lot.

A. Anappleofdiscord from fanfiction.net I’m pretty sure she doesn’t have a tumblr and even tho it’s been forever since I spoken with her personally, she is an awesome person and an awesome writer. She writes for the Hetalia fandom, focusing on gen stuff centering around England and America. If you know anything about the Hetalia fandom, it’s ridiculously rare to find platonic fics about these two and her fics are like the cream of the crop. Her characterizations are on point, her fics are educational and hilarious (and also a rollarcoaster of emotions) plus she pulls off OCs superbly. If you ever check out her fics, tell her that Listenerofshadows sent you ;)

B. Glimare from fanfiction.net I don’t know her personally, but I love her work in the DC fandom. Sadly, she’s since mostly moved on to other fandoms (which is great for her, if the feeling’s not there, don’t push yourself to write fanfic for certain fandoms) but she has a TON of content and it’s all so good. Her most-well known work is a collection of one-shots known as “Daddy, Not Bats”. It’s an AU where Bruce encounters the bat-kids at a younger age and decides to retire to raise them all. It’s sweet, fluffy and angsty all rolled into one.

C. @elfpen from AO3, Fanfiction.net and Tumblr.  I stumbled across her fanfic Reprise when looking for a good star wars time-travel fanfic to satisfy my needs and boy, DOES SHE DELIVER. Most time-travel fics center around the OT era or Obiwan and/or Anakin traveling to TPM, but hers focus on OT!Obiwan traveling back to the era BEFORE TPM. It’s a great fic, I love the characterizations and her OCs are on-point. Not to mention, she also has a lot of other awesome SW and HTTYD content.

4. Name three authors that were influential to your work and why.

A. Anappleofdiscord, again. Because she has actually beta’d my work before and given me great writing advice. I haven’t finished Neverlast, nor barely touched on it, but I’m thankful for her influence she’s played on it.

B. It’s hard to pinpoint my inspiration for my writing, because it’s kinda an intuitive thing? Like, I’ll be writing and a phrase comes up and I’m like “I know I stole that phrase from some fanfic lol” but i don’t know which one??? But basically all the fanfic writers I love are legions above me and I admire them all. But I have to say, I’ve started writing more third-person present tense because of a few good fanfics (but I can’t pinpoint which ones) which it’s a rare tense for a novel to pursue but I love the rhythm of it.

6. How did writing change you?

I’ve been writing before I could even write. Basically as a little four-year-old, I’d make pictures and then dictate to my older sister/mom what the pictures were about, essentially creating a storybook out of it. Since writing has been part of my life for so long, it’s so innate to me like breathing air. I know there’s a lot I could improve on writing, but it’s just a freeing way for me to express myself in a clear and concise manner. In real life, I can be awkward in how I word things and I have a tendency to trip over words or don’t fully pronounce my th-s and s-es. Fanfiction is great because I can explore my favorite concepts of a fanfic in a medium that people can enjoy reading in :)

7. Early influences of your writing

Once I discovered reading was fun (I didn’t learn to read until 2nd grade but that’s okay, because once I did I was reading several grades above my level) I devoured books. Some of my favorite books as a child are: PJO, Chronicles of Narnia, Boxcar Children and Black Beauty. I also did some RPG’ing at a young age, which greatly improved my writing as the constant writing at a rapid pace forced my writing to improve exponentially. There were roleplayers that I admired greatly that I imitated because I wanted my writing to be as good as theirs.

10. how do you do your researches?

Google, man, Google. For example let’s say my fanfic is a historical AU. I know a lot about history, but I might look up a historical site to proofcheck my dates or phrases of the time. Fanfic is nice, because it gives you an excuse to rewatch your favorite show if you wanna make sure you nail the characterizations. I might just look at a fan wiki if it’s a minor detail like what’s Ahsoka’s smaller lightsaber called. 

13. Hardest character to write

Oohhh boy! I think everyone can agree that Yoda and Darth Vader are the two toughest SW characters to write for. It’s hard to get into the head of a 900 yr old troll and Vader is just…really hard? Palpatine is also hard not to make him the typical cookie-cutter villian (Which he is, but I’d like to try to give him some depth). I feel like I write a different take of Anakin every time I write a different AU involving him, but I think that’s because the AUs are at different points of his life and also the AU effects his reaction to things.

14. Easiest character to write.

I know it’s contradictory, but Anakin. He’s definitely chaotic good and it’s fun to write that archtype. I haven’t written much Obiwan (actually I have, but I can’t post it until I write the chapters bridging to him :/) but he’s more lawful good compared to Anakin and throwing those two into the same fic is fun to see. Padme is a fun one to write as well as Ahsoka.

17. Favorite AU to write

I have so many AUs so again, hard choice. Gotta say Impetus, since it’s the most I have written for and I love it. It deals more with the traumatizing effects that slavery/the Jedi have inflicted on Anakin plus an even more problematic Palpatine. I didn’t mean to recreate Palpatine in that fashion he’s basically a pedophile in this AU, the characters kinda just made it happen and I ran with it. It was supposed to be a humorous/fluffy what-if but like everything I touch, it’s also angsty ( ¯\_(ツ)_/¯)

19. Favorite fandom to write for

My favorite fandom to write for naturally changes with my interests. I was obsessed with YJ for a while, then Hetalia and now SW. Star Wars is fun to write for because there’s a big audience and it’s pretty easy to find a pocket audience who love the same types of things that you do. YJ will always be my first love. I’m currently writing a fanfic for a YJ fandom event, but I’ve been kinda struggling? I’ve lost my enthusiasm writing-wise even tho I still love it to bits.

20. Favorite Character to Write.

Anakin, probably. It’s funny because I used to never like the PT, but the Clone Wars changed all that. It’s a shame that Lucas went the direction he did for Anakin in PT because TCW uncovered a problematic but likeable hero and I wish we could’ve seen that live-action (It’s not Hayden’s fault btw, the director is the one responsible for what portrayal the actor gives)

27. Best review you ever got.

Okay, so. I used to share an account on FF.Net with a friend and I wrote of a lot of YJ fanfics. One of them was a gen one-shot involving Bart and Jaime that received a good amount of attention. AND A REALLY GOOD FANFIC AUTHOR THAT I ADMIRED AND LOOKED UP TO REVIEWED MY FIC AND I HAVE NEVER GOTTEN OVER IT. I never in a million years imagined that my favorite authors potentially read my fanfics, let alone review/favorite it.

39. Do you want to be published some day?

Kinda. As a kid I’ve always wanted to get published but now I’m not so sure. I’ve never finished any fics other than one-shots and that really has gotten to me. My current goal is to finish at least one of my fanfics but I think I’ve been putting it off because I’m afraid it’s impossible to acccomplish. It’s silly, I know. I just need to do it.

40. Which one of your stories do would you most like to see as a movie/series?

Hmmm….probably my one-shot involving those two bounty hunter OCs. I could just see them trying to survive the universe with the least amount of weird space stuff happening but they seem to get pulled into it anyway. Those two are actually the easiest OCs for me to write, btw.

42. Do you plan or do you write whatever comes to mind?

I’m a weird creature. In life, I like to know things ahead of time. I like things to run exactly the way I planned. I don’t like unexpected variables. but in writing…I rarely outline. I usually write whatever is on my mind. Pure inspiration is awesome…until it runs out and feels like you’re pulling teeth to just to write a single sentence. That’s when I attempt to outline things.

Whatis love? To a young child slave, it is the words his mother used to caress himafter a brutal beating by their master. It is wrapped in the kisses she givesto each bruise and lullabies that lull him to sleep.

Hismaster can freely touch every part of him he wishes. He can say words to him—hecan do anything he like to him.

Hecan say things like, “You know I love you, boy?” and the slave obedientlyanswers, “Yes, master.”

He’sso very young, but he knows that his master’s words and touch are not love.Only his mother’s is. He doesn’t know how to describe it. But he can feel thewarmth behind them, like hovering over a fire on a cold desert night. They arelike a thick blanket made of bantha furs, soft and comforting. They melt awayhis tears and fill his lungs with laughter.

Everyday, his mother tells him “I love you Ani.” and Ani, the slave boy, freelyreplies, “I love you too, Mom!”

Hefollows by her example, smothering her with hugs and tells her silly stories tohear her laughter that rings like the bells at the market stands. Because heknows love is the best medicine to heal anyone. It makes them feel fuzzy insideand they don’t feel so sad knowing someone cares about them.

Hismom gets sad a lot, so he does his best to repel the sadness away. He doesn’tget angry when she’s sad, because she isn’t angry when he’s sad.

“It’sokay to be sad,” She tells him one night as she runs her hands through hishair, “Everyone gets sad, just like how everyone gets angry or happy.”

“Mastersdon’t like it when we’re angry though.” Anakin pouted.

Shepauses; looking down at her son with a sad smile, “No matter what they say,you’re allowed to feel angry, Ani. Bundle it up, and keep it to yourself—andrelease it when they aren’t looking.”

“Areyou ever angry, mom?” He yawned as he snuggled closer.

“Yes.”His mother breathed deeply, and he could feel a bit of her anger—for aninstant.

It ishot—not warm like Love’s fire. No, it burns and consumes him for a moment. Itreminds him of all the bruises and welts that his masters have given him. Angeris selfish and doesn’t love. He doesn’t like seeing the giver of his Love feelthis way. He internally sighs in relief when her anger melts away as he told atale about a funny customer that came in that day.

Hehas never truly felt anger. He flinches from its’ touch and refuses to feel theemotion that his masters are fond of.

50. Your favourite character from any of your fandoms (pick one or several characters you like) is writing a fanfic STARRING YOU AS A CHARACTER. Regarding this fact, what kind of fanfic do you think he/she/they are writing about and how would you feel about you literally being in it?)

I feel like everyone relates when I say I don’t think my life is interesting. I’d pick Cassie from YJ because I feel like she’d be the type to write fanfic. I will say one ironic moment in my life is that I starred in a play as a shy bookworm girl who got the lead role in her school play alongside her crush, the star basketball player, incidentally they ended up together in the end. Everyone irl teased me about this but the truth is….I actually had a crush on the actor himself. We’ve known each other for years and are good friends. And the closest I ever gotten to “kissing” him was a moment in the play where our characters almost kissed before being interrupted by other students. But of course nothing real came of the play and we still remain good friends.  I always note in my head that the hollywood version is that we…would’ve hooked up in the end. I’m sure if I was a fictional character and Cassie shipped me with him and we didn’t get together in the end, she’d be writing a fix-it fic where our pairing is the true pairing in the end. If i wasn’t fictional, I’d feel really weirded out by it. I don’t like fic involving real people in it, especially if it involves ships. I’m almost 90% sure this guy doesn’t have a crush on me and just regards as friends. Which is okay, because I’m not sure if I even want a relationship at the moment.
