Not Me for the fandom ask thing! 😊🥰
lizzieeee~ thank you a lot for asking! gosh am always so excited to talk about not me :') let's go!
001 | Send me a fandom and I will tell you my:
Favorite character: Sean i think i’ve established already that i am utterly in love with this mess of a man. i still remember when i was watching the first ep of not me and at the end we have white finally meeting sean for the first time and i instantly knew sean was gonna wreck me emotionally. bc what am if not a slut for emotionally constipated boys who turn out to be super soft and only in need of some love and understanding? yeah. and then the nightmare scene happened at the beginning of ep 4 and i was like. yup. called it. my blorbo now.
Least Favorite character(s): Dan and Gram ok ok hear me out. i don’t hate either of them. i truly do not. i find both of them quite charming in their own ways and i love them as part of the group. but out of all the characters we get to meet and see in this, out of all the characters that aren’t just straight up shitty, i find gram and dan the most boring. they’re kind of plain. the writing doesn’t do them justice bc they could’ve both been so much more. i expected them to be a lot more - and yet.
5 Favorite ships (canon or non-canon): SeanWhite, DanYok, GramBlack, ToddBlack, GramGeneBlack
Character I find most attractive: Yok i wanna say sean bc he is one handsome motherfucker (all bc off is just. so pretty). but also just. yok. my absolute beloved. he has the looks. he has the wardrobe. he has the damn tattoo and the personality. he could flirt the pants off from a fucking table. he is absolutely mesmerizing and i do not blame dan for going absolutely bonkers bc of him. i would too.
Character I would marry: Gumpa our garage dad! i would absolutely say yes to him if he asked lol. we could have a comfy life. he could do his gay garage revolution trainer stuff and i could maybe like. edit and draw and study in the corner. we could cuddle up when the time calls for it. no one can bother either of us about future marriage. we can stay bffs. maybe he can offer me a hug and some head pats, who knows. idk what i can offer him but i’ll try my best which seems to be enough for him. hey maybe this is not marriage but adoption instead. i have the papers ready man, get out your pen-
Character I would be best friends with: White this is all based on personality. i think all the other character would be a bit too intense for me to be best friends with. other than gumpa who i mentioned above, i could only see myself hanging out with white. he’s sweet and quiet and calm. he likes reading just like i do. maybe we could go do a couple of leap of faiths at times to spice things up. we can go brood by the sea. i won’t let him go drown himself tho, i swear.
a random thought: we need a second season about black’s toxic relationship with todd. give us all the dirty little details. twist them up and break our hearts. or wait no, let them both be twisted together but make todd see he can be much more than a rich little shit. also i just wanna see more of black and how he came to be with his gang and how he actually cares about those assholes.
An unpopular opinion: Namo shouldn’t have been made to be in love with Sean idk how “unpopular” this opinion is but it always frustrates me when friendships between men and women are made romantic. there always seems to be this romantic aspect to it and i am just tired. can’t it just be a platonic relationship where they’re both comfy with each other? i thought we got that with them at first. they were just being so casual, and namo seemed to pick up on white’s interest on sean quite early. i thought she was just being an observant best friend. but no, they had to make her confess and kind of ruin that friendship. i know they can still be friends after but was it really necessary? tho of course her confession provided us with the extra angst when sean goes to her after getting beat up by black but dammit, you could’ve gotten that from somewhere else too if you just wanted to pile up on the angst.
My Canon OTP: SeanWhite they are just so good. i adore they. i want to cry so much more bc of them. i miss them and their lovey-dovey nonsense ♥
My Non-canon OTP: ToddBlack yes i am in this pit too and what about it, i like how twisted they could be and how their past could just be so heartbreaking and how they could maybe have a future. i can dream.
Most Badass Character: Black i think the ending episodes speak for themselves. like damn, ever since i saw him first fighting with todd and then going against half a swat squad with his bare hands i have not been the same, that was so sexy.
Most Epic Villain: Todd idk if he’s truly epic in any sense bc he’s mostly just pathetic. but god is he more interesting than tawi or the twins’ parents. so him it is. also at least he dresses up better, those open shirts were truly something else.
Pairing I am not a fan of: BlackGene/GramGene i didn’t really mind these happening in the drama but i just. didn’t really get into them? it felt boring. even more boring when we somewhat got baited with it being gramblack. what a disaster that was sigh. rest in peace our nice little ship. also pls eugene deserves someone so much better than either of these boys and i think she should date a girl instead actually.
Character I feel the writers screwed up (in one way or another): Gram like i said before, both him and dan could’ve been so much more. they gave us so many promises with gram as the drama started and then continued but then made him just very boring. and somehow even an asshole? bc at the beginning he seemed to care so much about black, and i actually adored the thought of black having someone like gram in his life that he actually let a bit closer to himself. but then they just. brought in the whole gramgene mess. which made all of gram’s motives kind of dubious. like idk if the writers just simply forgot that the gang wasn’t actually white’s gang but black’s but god dammit they wrote black out of it quite harshly.
Favourite Friendship: Sean and Yok absolutely obsessed with this couple of unhinged besties ♥
Character(s) I most identify with: Sean and White i feel like i’m a strange mix of both of them which probably explains why i like their relationship so much. i sometimes get very defensive like sean and i can be a bit impulsive at times too. am also bad at admitting my own mistakes, tho i will not go choking someone else about it hhhh. also i doubt myself and try to correct my own thinking like white. i try to be better. tho i can also see myself being as stubborn as sean when it comes to things i believe, and then again as understanding and sweet as white is with everyone around him.
Character I wish I could be: Namo she seemed just so cool in the series. she was an artist and very sure about it, and i truly admired her ambition and knowledge on things. also she was best friends with sean - and i truly refuse to think of them as anything else so let’s ignore the romantic part. i also just wanted to steal her style so this would be an easy way to do that haha

Fantastic Four # 9 - 12
Tumblr media
Warning, Spoilers Ahead…
A Brief Summary: Doctor Doom suffers another embarrassing defeat
Debuts:
·         The Ovoids
·         Impossible Man from the planet Poppup in the Tenth Galaxy
·         Willie Lumpkin
Favorite Cover: #12 – The Fantastic Four Meet the Hulk!
Invisible Girl Hostage Count: 5 out of 9 issues
Points of Interest:
·         The issue opens with Reed using his “electronic x-ray camera” with “radioactive film” in an attempt to learn more about Sue’s invisibility power.  Sue urges Reed to hurry as it’s “hot and stuffy” while “Torch keeps his flame on”.  Said Torch is acting as Reed’s lab assistant. Johnny is taking notes while engulfed in flames – except for his hands.  Between the causal use of “radioactive film” and Johnny walking around in flames, it’s a wonder the group lives long enough to battle Doom later on.
·         The FF’s signal flare appears in the sky. The trio attempts to exit the lab but the door is locked. Johnny decides to burn through the door but is stopped by Reed: “Trying to stop you from blowing us up, kid! Did you forget how sensitive that nuclear device is to heat?!” Johnny was completely engulfed in flames only four panels earlier and Reed didn’t seem to care but now it’s a no-go.
·         Is it safe to keep a nuclear device in the middle of New York City? Especially with Johnny and Ben living in the building. The duo engages in destructive rough-housing on a near-daily basis!
·         Reed attempts to stretch his arm to reach the Fantasti-Car so the trio can leave via the window but the strain proves too much. No worries, as Johnny has learned something new: “I can concentrate my flame so much that it burns without heat!” What?!
·         The trio escapes the lab. Reed decides “Let’s forget the Fantastic-Car. We can make better time without it!” Again, what? Johnny, maybe, but not the other two. And this is the era where Johnny randomly loses power due to “exhaustion”. Wouldn’t it make more sense for Johnny not to use his powers until the group has reached the scene of crisis? Especially when you have an awesome car-plane just waiting to be used?
·         The three head to the source of the flare. Sue causes a car crash with her “now you see me, now you don’t” routine. I never understood how Spider-Man was a “public menace” and the X-Men were “hated and feared” by the general public in comparison to the Fantastic Four in the early days of the Marvel Universe. Spider-Man mostly stopped criminals and the X-Men were isolated in Westchester County minding their own business…meanwhile the Four, in the heart of NYC, can barely go an issue without causing a mass panic or massive property damage…many times caused by Ben having a tantrum!
·         The source of the “emergency” is Ben wanting to show off the new statues Alicia has made of the team’s enemies. Sue protests the inclusion of Namor. Reed questions Sue over her feelings for Namor: “I thought we had an understanding.” Sue admits she’s not sure of her own feelings.
·         Johnny’s glad he’s “not old enough to have all those kinds of mushy problems”.  Karl Kessel’s “Human Torch” series contains pre-transformation flashbacks of Johnny flirting with girls. And he’s flirting with Valeria, Princess Pearla, and soon to be dating Dorrie Evans in the “Strange Tales” series. Perhaps Johnny’s referring to “serious” relationships?
·         Doctor Doom has returned to earth! And decides to storm Marvel Comics and terrorize Stan Lee & Jack Kirby with the sight of his unmasked face?!
·         Doom proclaims: “I do no blame you for shrinking from the sight of me! I still cannot bear to gaze upon my face myself! But I must remove my mask at times else I feel it will strangle me!”
·         Reed has the nerve to question Ben: “What makes you so bad tempered all the time?” Seriously, Reed?!
·         We have a fun moment of Johnny & Ben uniting to prank Reed by stretching his clothes.
·         Doom ambushes Reed. Victor explains he was rescued by the Ovoids, an alien race whose “science and culture were a million years ahead of ours”.  Doom learned many abilities from the Ovoids including the ability to switch bodies with another person. Victor promptly switches bodies with Reed.
·         The rest of the team arrives and subdues Doom (Reed). Ben and Johnny are very excited to have captured Doom (Reed) and devise ludicrous ways to imprison him. Not to worry, Reed (Doom) had devised a cell to contain him.
·         Kirby draws some extremely creepy “Evil Reed” facial expressions.
·         Back at the Baxter Building, the rest of the team is overrun by a herd of miniaturized animals: horses, bears, kangaroos, moose, elephants, cows, camels, zebras, birds, etc. The trio scramble to contain the animals and return them to Reed’s lab: “You know how angry he gets if anyone interferes with his work!”
·         Reed (Doom) returns and the trio questions him – 1) Are these the animals stolen from the zoo and 2) Why are you shrinking animals?
·         Victor spins a story that this “reducing ray” will expand the team’s powers and allow Ben to transform at will. I know Reed is the scientist of the story but that explanation makes no sense. The team chooses not to press the matter of the animal theft and forced experimentation.
·         Doom (Reed) escapes from his cell and seeks the aid of Alicia Masters. Unfortunately for Reed, an invisible Sue was visiting Alicia and knocks him out.
·         Alicia is confused: “How can that be Doctor Doom? There’s an aura of goodness about him…of nobility!” Really, Alicia? You can sense that from an unconscious man in a suit of armor? I wish someone would establish Alicia had minor empathic abilities – otherwise, her “sensing” is ridiculous.
·         Johnny & Ben arrive to defeat “Doom”. Ben is furious that Alicia was threatened: “You tried to scare Alicia, did ya? Nothing can save ya from me now, ya miserable ghoul…I ain’t kidding now! He threatened Alicia! Do ya hear me? He dared to threaten Alicia!”
·         There’s a cute scene where the team takes Doom to the parked Fantasti-car only to discover a group of neighborhood kids palying in it.
·         Johnny and Ben suspect something is off with Reed & Doom so Johnny uses his powers to create a mirage to test their suspicions. I love Silver Age powers – always used in ways that make no sense with actual science.
·         Doom is found out, re-switches bodies with Reed, and shrunk to nothingness by his own reducing ray. The next time Doom achieves god-like powers he should erase everyone’s memories of his ridiculous Silver Age-shenanigans.
·         Issue #11 opens with a cute scene of the team encountering a group of children playing “Fantastic Four”. The team shows off their powers for the children. Johnny wisely reminds the kids “Throwing fireballs is easy for me, fella, but don’t you ever play with fire. It’s too dangerous for little kids.”
·         We meet Willie Lumpkin, the team’s mailman. He volunteers for the team: “I haven’t exactly got any super powers, but I can wiggle my ears real good.”
·         The team goes through their fan mail: Johnny receives love letters; Ben gets pranks from the Yancy Street Gang.
·         Reed has yet another cure for Ben who is understandably wary: “I’m sick of being a guinea pig for you! None of these things ever work right!” Ben takes the cure and transforms back into his human form. Ben, Reed, and Sue are ecstatic. A more cautious Johnny muses to himself: “Poor Ben! If he changes back to the Thing again, I don’t wanna be around to see it!”. Johnny decides to head to the garage to “fool around with my new TR-4!”
·         Reed and Ben recap their meeting in college. Ben was “State U’s football hot-shot”. Despite being polar opposites, “I was a millionaire’ son and he was from the wrong side of the tracks”, the duo quickly became best friends. Their friendship persisted throughout World War II. Ben was “a Marine fighter ace over Okinawa and Guadalcanal” and Reed was “behind the lines, working with the underground for the O.S.S.” The timeline of these events would put Reed and Ben in their late thirties at the time of their transformation into the Fantastic Four.
·         Due to the sliding timescale, the World War II bit has been retconned from Reed and Ben’s past. I think Ben’s time in the military is still part of his background – the era has simply changed. I’m not sure about Reed.
·         Sue had begun dating Reed before he left for the war: “It’s always been you, since we were kids together living next door to each other”. This would be retconned later – Sue and Reed wouldn’t meet until Reed was entering college.
·         Sue brushes off Reed’s devotion as the “shadow of the Sub-Mariner” lies between them. The whole Namor storyline could have been resolved much sooner if it was acceptable for comic book women, or women in general, were allowed to have lustful thoughts about men. Sue hasn’t spent enough time with Namor that didn’t involve threats to her, her family, or the human race in general. Poor Sue isn’t allowed to admit she appreciates Namor’s fabulous body in a tight, small speedo so the audience is left with her swooning over his “gentle”, “conflicted” nature. I love Namor but there has been nothing gentle or conflicted in his FF appearances. Execpt for the time he swam with the dolphins but Sue wasn’t there to witness it.
·         We get yet another recap of the infamous rocket flight. I understand the “every issue could be someone’s first” principle but were at issue #11 and it’s been recapped in half of the books.
·         Sue’s upset because a few pieces of mail state she “doesn’t contribute enough to the team”.
·         Reed defends Sue by saying Abraham Lincoln’s mother didn’t fight but she still contributed?! Kick him, Sue! Kick him!
·         Ben becomes overly excited and turns back into the Thing.
·         The boys surprise Sue with a birthday cake.
·         Impossible Man arrives on Earth, causing confusion and chaos in his wake. The Four battle Impossible Man in the Flamingo restaurant. He eventually becomes bored and leaves the planet. If you’ve seen the Impossible Man of the 2000s Fantastic Four cartoon, you’ve basically read this issue.
·         Johnny uses his powers to create “hypnotic rings” during the fight with the Impossible Man. You’ve got to love Silver Age powers!
·         Issue 12 begins a classic rivalry of the Marvel Universe: the Thing vs the Hulk.
·         Alicia and Ben are leaving a performance of Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony. Ben comments “I get my kicks from low-down New Orleans Jazz”.
·         The army pours into town and mistakes Thing for the Hulk, prompting a mistaken identity fight.
·         Ben is quite irate over being mistaken for the Hulk.
·         General Ross arrives at the Baxter Building. He wants the Four to locate the Hulk.
·         Ross shows a picture of the Hulk. Sue fades from sight: “The sight of that monster unnerved me so that I lost control of my visibility power!” Really? I don’t buy it. First, it’s only a picture and secondly, she lives with Ben and has battled Skrulls and monsters from Monster Island. It’s not like large creatures are a foreign concept to Sue.
·         Even Ben thinks its bull!
·         The boys show off, proudly proclaiming how he – and he personally – will capture the Hulk. Unfortunately for Johnny, flying around the small room a few times exhausts him flame. I appreciate the time it takes Johnny to master his abilities – it’s more realistic as opposed to the “instant mastery” route but two laps around the living room shouldn’t wipe him out as this point. He’s been the “Human Torch” for months as this point.
·         Reed praises Johnny’s skills as a mechanic: “That flame of his is one of our most potent weapons as well as his mechanical skill.  In fact, I’ll give you a little demonstration! Johnny has just finished modifying our Fantastic-Car!”
·         Johnny encourages Reed: “You tell him, Big Daddy!” In an alternate universe, Johnny married Reed Richards – was that his pet name for him?
·         The Four and the General head to the Southwest to search for the Hulk. The Four meet Bruce Banner and Rick Jones.
·         Reed has “long been an admirer” of Banner’s atomic research. Banner returns the praise: “I’m highly flattered that the most brilliant scientific brain of our time should say that to me”.
·         Johnny both shows-off for and pranks Rick. Neither are impressed with the other. Johnny: “Look at him green with envy! Trying hard not to admit he’s overwhelmed by me!” Rick: “He wouldn’t be so swell-headed if he knew I was the Hulk’s partner!”
·         Johnny tends to dial up the obnoxiousness and showboating when he’s with another teen hero: Spider-Man, Rick Jones, and later, Iceman. Possibly a combination of eagerness to impress/work with someone of his age group and a desire to be the best of said age group.
·         The army base’s saboteur “the Wrecker”, but not the Wrecker, kidnaps Rick Jones causing Bruce Banner to unleash the Hulk.
·         The Four and the Hulk meet up in a “deserted Western ghost town” and fight. Ben finds and frees Rick. Hulk flees the scene.
·         The Four prepare to leave the base. Reed hints to Bruce: “I’ve got a feeling there’s a lot we have to talk about – like you, and Rick, and the Hulk, for instance!”

my list of lupin movies ive watched for the sake of keeping track and making sure i dont rewatch some
Castle of Cagliostro (10)
favourite Lupin movie of all time. Fantastic art, cast, plot, everything.
Blood Seal: Eternal Mermaid (8.5)
Really good animation and really interesting plot. Another ‘Lupin has to babysit’ movie but it was treated in such a way that set it apart from other ones. He gives her a lot of good advice and overall I really enjoyed this one even if it’s kind of underrated.
Burning Memory - Tokyo Crisis (8.5)
Surprisingly good like I wasn’t expecting a 90′s Lupin movie to come for me like this but the animation is really solid and the movie itself was really funny. I also liked that Maria and Zenigata weren’t a thing like that cleared my pores.
The Bloodspray of Ishikawa Goemon (8)
The animation is fucking stellar but there were odd gaps in the movie that were really inactive. I liked the two subplots going on though like they were both interesting.
Bye Bye Lady Liberty (8)
The classic convoluted subplots worked well here tbh and the Goemon romance stuff was gunshot noise gunshot noise cash register noise. The animation had this weird glow to it but it was (almost) the 90s lol
Hemingway Papers (8)
They really got me with Goemon and Jigen going against each other and Lupin being in a relationship with someone aside from Fujiko (a relationship that was genuinely romantic) was actually pretty well done. That whole bit at the end with the karaoke machine? Amazing
Return the Treasure (7)
Another one that was really close to being perfect. The only loose ends was that the “treasure” wasn’t really explained very well (but i mean, the lead up to it was very good) and i could’ve done with more scenes with the whole gang (it seemed like there was a lot of times where it was lupin jigen and fujiko or lupin goemon and fujiko, but not enough of all of them together)
From Siberia With Love (7)
The usual amount of humour and action from a Lupin III film and the art is pretty standard. Goemon got a few nice quotes in and Fujiko talked to a woman. Could’ve done without Rasputin but thats just me.
Elusiveness of the Fog (7)
Lupin offering Goemon to the princess was kinda funny and I actually really liked OG Mamo (not the short freak) being revitilized bc his episode in the original series was really entertaining. The history of where they were was a little wonky but I’ll give it to them this time.
Pilot Film (7)
That shit was wild i liked how jigen was introduced as the gunman and then beat the shit out of 3 police officers with his bare hands. also goemon i guess dedicates his life to killing lupin so thats fun, like he’s on zenigata’s side i guess. could’ve done with fujiko making an expression at any given time but yknow what? it was funny and it was only 12 minutes long
Another Page (7)
Surprisingly not that bad. To summarize the film as a whole I’d say: it could have been worse. The plot made sense which is more than i can say about most lupin movies and they stuck to two subplots that were both interesting and meshed pretty good by the end. And the two lady characters that got introduced didn’t betray anybody AND didn’t die.
Farewell to Nostradamus (6.5)
The animation was pretty good and I liked the whole ‘we gotta protect this kid’ thing but I always mix up this one and Bye Bye Liberty Crisis like this movie is it’s less interesting twin. Both of them have kids they need to protect but Bye Bye Liberty Crisis was just better. I feel like this one had a really good ending but aside from that the movie wasn’t that memorable for me.
Fuma Conspiracy (6.5)
i liked Goemon being in a relationship bc it was really sweet, i just wish there wouldve been a better balance of romance to plot. Also terrible voice actors but that just affected my enjoyment not really the plot or anything relevant.
Sweet Lost Night (6)
I like time shenanigans and my only two critiques are the inconsistent art quality and they seemed really hesitant to embrace time skipping. Like “he’s limited to twice before he becomes brain dead” was a little bit of a small window. If anything they missed out on a good opportunity for a classic lupin montage of him time skipping way too often. Maybe if they changed it to “you skip time every 12 hours, to every 6 hours, to every 3 hours, etc” until he stops existing?? like that seems more in line with a lupin plot not to mention a little more suspenseful.
Dead or Alive (6)
The new art style is kind of neat and didn’t really affect the personality of the characters like I thought it would. The plot itself was complicated and hard to follow but I mean, it wasn’t awful. Nothing I really hated and nothing I loved.
Jigen Daisuke’s Gravestone (6)
Handsome Jigen was cool but tcm i’m begging you to drink your Respect Women Juice. Also Goemon wasn’t in this one what the fuck was up with that. Lupin looked like a crispy toenail in the new art style but again the animation is gucci so I can’t really complain on that front.
Napoleon's Dictionary (6)
Reminded me a lot of Mamo except with more respect in women. Just kidding Fujiko was kind of a crapshoot in the end and the ending was more or less just. cut off?? like they crashed into the ocean after lupin ruined zenigatas marriage and the credits started rolling. it was weird bc it had a lot going but i guess they ran out of time for a proper ending?
Mystery of Mamo (6)
Respect Women Juice needed and also why was Goemon purple. The pros to this movie was the overall aesthetic being really attractive BUT the plot was sketchy and didn’t make a lot of sense. The only remarkable scene I remember is Jigen shooting the can by Lupin’s feet like I wish that emotion would’ve carried through the film and not ended there.
Red vs Green (5)
Really good animation, no fucking idea what happened in this film.
Walther P-38: Island of Assassins (5)
They missed an opportunity to be a little more psychological and the lady of the week dying was meh but I will say the plot stayed on course like they didnt try to do too much at once like they tend to do. I wish they would’ve delved more into lupin’s past with the doctor because that seemed kind of random but the more lethal, edgy plot was handled decently. I’ll probably forget this one in a week tbh.
Dragon of Doom (5)
I like learning more about Goemon but his girlfriend was really distracting and uneccessary. Like, if you want to introduce Goemon’s childhood friend sure its whatever but she only showed up to either threaten lupin or flirt with Goemon. And it was very obvious she was going to betray him so all her build up was pointless. I will say though, the plot was pretty cool which was surprising.
Voyage to Danger (4)
tcm I’m begging you to let Jigen talk to a woman and not have it be like ‘this is Jigens girlfriend now’. Sometimes women be talking and they aren’t thirsting for a man triple their age. It just be like that sometimes. Thats literally all I remember about this film.
First Contact (4)
I remember being excited for this like ‘oh wow their first ever meeting’ and i s2g this film was boring. And also a giant plothole. With no real redeeming qualities. I don’t even remember the animation being that good.
Columbus Files (4)
This film was at least funny bad but my hand to god I’d never watch it again. This is the first time I’ve ever watched a movie and had to watch the dub bc the sub was boring me to death. It was just... so bad... Especially when you’ve seen Wings of Death like this ain’t the Fujiko I know please leave.
Seven Days Rhapsody (3)
The comedy in this one was so weirdly incorporated and featured another really good ‘here’s Jigen’s dead girlfriend’ that i just could not care less about and then finished off with this what like 13 year old girl asking to be Lupin’s girlfriend? fuck outta here. The ONLY good part was Goemon slapping Lupin across the face.
Alcatraz Connection (2.5)
Really, really boring. The content wasn’t necessarily bad but they had 4 subplots going on that were equally uninteresting and some scenes went on for so so so long. It deadass took me 5 hours to watch this movie bc i kept pausing to do literally anything else. The art was unpleasant and by the time they got the treasure i didn’t really care anymore. Not to mention the plot was way too complicated and tin-foil hat for my liking.
Missed by a Dollar (2.5)
Made very little sense and in general was really annoying. Between Goemon being a born again Christian and the plot briefly derailing so Lupin could establish an oil company it was like can we pick something to focus on? By the end of the movie I was like wait when did they get the broach? What does the broach do again? And then he gives it to someone random and its like??
Gold of Babylon (2)
This one if the definition of being cursed and Pink Jacket deserved so much better than this nonsense. Like Lupin III isn’t known for its coherence, sure, but this movie had absolutely no structure. Upon finishing the film I was trying to remember anything that just happened and my brain refused. It kept the good cartoonish animation but god at what cost.
Angel Tactics (2)
TCM PLEASE DRINK YOUR RESPECT WOMEN JUICE. The art was just. Stunningly bad. Bad to the degree where about a minute thirty in I already regretted starting it. Not to mention the classic “we don’t actually wanna draw this part so we’re gonna jam cgi in here”. Also the most awkward use of “hey heres 3 women hey heres 3 men lets shove them together”.
Harimao’s Treasure (2)
nazis and transphobia which was extremely unfortunate considering the opening was actually one of the stronger ones I’ve seen from Lupin but immediately after the villain was introduced the quality of the film dropped about 90% and i wanted to die for the entire last half of the film. if they had changed the villain it would’ve solved 90 of their problems.
Twilight Gemini (2)
this was one of the only films in the entire lupin series where i was rooting for lupin to fucking perish. not only was goemon only in this film for 26 seconds, jigen was there for about 30 seconds and im not entirely sure if fujiko was there at all. not to be that guy but when they make lupin to be the most intolerable piece of shit in the world for this movie, don’t give him all the screen time. having to stare at this asshole for an hour and a half was exhausting.
Princess of the Breeze (2)
How a movie where Jigen has to carry a baby around in one of those funny baby-carriers turned out this fucking goddawful I have no explanation for. This movie was like an AU where all these other characters no one cares about happen to exist in the same universe as lupin. and when lupin does show up, i want him dead. Just horrifically boring and lazy art mixed with bad cgi. The only upside is that it isn’t Return of the Magician.
Return of the Magician (1)
I’m giving it a 1 on the principle that this wasn’t even a movie. It was a little less than an hour long and my god i’ve never seen a film so full of pad-time that if i can be so bold, there was more pad time than plot. What little plot they had made absolutely no sense and the art used cgi in the most bizarre and ugly ways. i’m pretty sure the credits played twice at the end. if there was a world record for lowest budget in a film, Return of the Magician would win hands down.

So I just finished VHS and I absolutely loved it. One of the shorts was a bit lacking to me, but even that one was enjoyable to watch. The only big criticism I have is that like at least half the shorts showed a lot of unnecessary tiddy (the only one that didn’t feel totally unnecessary was the one where the whole plot is dudes tryin to make porn) but I mean it’s found footage and I get that irl people do show off to each other on video calls and yknow,, porn. So I can let it slide but I’m not gonna enjoy it lol. Also this goes for most found footage I’ve seen, but sometimes it’s really hard to make out who’s who and what’s going on. But overall it was really good.
There were a few comments (I watched it on shudder lol) calling the movie misogynistic, which I don’t get? I mean unless they were talking about the tiddy issue, but even that I don’t think was meant to be framed as a good thing.
Like the movie is 5 shorts in between breaks of an ongoing story of some dudes breaking into a house. They’re trying to steal some tapes, and what’s on them is the bunch of shorts we’re shown. So the overarching story of the guys in the house has nothing to do with women, except one scene where they gang up on and try to strip a woman in a parking lot, which I’m pretty sure is clearly meant to be a bad thing? I mean throughout the movie we’re shown that these guys are assholes (filming harassment of women for money, excessively saying slurs, breaking into a house for more tapes that could get them money). Yeah the characters are misogynistic from what we can tell, but that doesn’t mean the movie or director is condoning their actions.
Ok onto the actual shorts (I don’t know what any were called but I’m pretty sure theyre all in order in my head lol). I want to pick out whether the individual shorts were misogynistic at all (because I have literally nothing else to do) so for that I might have to spoil. Any spoilers will be crossed out so they’re at least a bit harder to read. And like, I’m no expert in feminism (I don’t consider myself one, but I’m not exactly anti either) but being a person with a brain and opinions I’m going to talk about it.
1: This was the only one I had any previous knowledge of going in, and I was absolutely terrified of watching this whole movie because of the jumpscare and bits of creepiness I’d seen lol. So it’s about this group of guys who are trying to make some porn, so they pick up some girls, take them clubbing, and then go to a hotel to smash. Without spoilers, one of the girls acts really really friccin creepy and I think this one scared me the most overall, even knowing the basics of what would happen. Honestly I’m surprised the internet hasn’t turned her into a meme or waifu like some people did with Momo lol. I for one really want to draw her now (but also I’m terrified of looking up reference photos 👊😔). I think I read that they made a full movie-length version of this story but I could be wrong.
Spoilers: So what happens is this creepy girl is some kind of monster who lures men in to have sex with her, so she can eat them and rip their dicks off and all that fun shit. So like a siren, but on land? Honestly I don’t even know if it’s accurate to say she lures them in, because she really didn’t do anything, the guys kinda just found her and decided to use her? Also I think she had wings?? But again, handheld camera, hard to see everything. I think that what makes this one is that while she is creepy, she doesn’t really seem dangerous, or even like she wants to be there at all. Like when the guys give her and another girl drugs, the other girl seems ok with it, but it seemed to bother the creepy girl a bit. She had this innocent vibe to her that just makes her even more creepy. And then it’s even more shocking when she starts eating these bois. So yeah I don’t think this one was misogynistic at all. The male characters just wanted to exploit her and profit from her body, and she didn’t say no but she didn’t say yes either, which is pretty interesting to see. It’s not like she tricked the guys because she never actually consented to sex. All I remember her saying was “I like you” a few times. 10/10 we love a lady who eats her attempted rapists.
2: This is the one I wasn’t entirely satisfied with, but it was very good and enjoyable nonetheless. It’s about this couple on a road trip in,, I wanna say Arizona? I’m Canadian, I’ve never heard of a state in my life. So anyway they’re at a hotel in the middle of the desert, there are a few parts that were pretty creepy but didn’t actually mean anything in the story, like there was this fortune telling machine that I thought would be something supernatural, and a scene where they’re climbing around a canyon which was just generally anxiety inducing lol. But what the story is actually about is that someone is stalking them. This one I can discuss the misogyny levels without spoilers. There’s one bit where the guy is trying to get the girl to take off her shirt, and she says only if you turn the camera off. Which he doesn’t, and after a little argument he finally accepts the no. So like, dick move, but only a tiny part of the story.
Spoilers: there are some creepy scenes of the stalker recording them both while they sleep, and stealing their money and stuff, and then later stabs the guy in the neck. But then it’s revealed that the stalker is actually two people and they film themselves making out in the bathroom mirror. I couldn’t tell if it was a guy/girl or two girls, and since it was that hard to see their faces it just occurred to me that one of them might’ve actually been the gf? Like we didn’t see what happens to her after, and it’d definitely be a more satisfying ending for her to have betrayed her bf and not just some rando stalkers. Hm. Still unclear but good.
3: This one was really fun, it’s these 4 college aged friends who take a trip to the woods, it’s pretty tropey like cabin in the woods, there’s the final girl, the slut, the nerd, and the popular jockish dude. Which I’m pretty sure was on purpose since it’s kind of a slasher. Otherwise I’d be a bit more critical of the ‘slut’ character who Literally Never Shuts Up About Sex in this short lol. But I think that was meant to be a comedic choice. Idk. Other than that, no issue. So basically final girl has kinda organized this whole trip but she starts acting weird and saying creepy stuff about things that had happened in the forest. This one really felt like a creepypasta, but like the best kind. I really love what they did with the bad guy. I really don’t want to spoil this one, so don’t read the spoilers unless you’re sure you’ll never watch it. It’s great.
Spoilers: So the twist is that final girl had been here before with her friends and was the only survivor of a massacre by some monster in the woods. So now by taking these new people on the trip she’s trying to lure the monster out using them as bait, because nobody believed her after the last trip when she told people it wasn’t human. So we get a bunch of cool deaths, and that sweet sweet betrayal. I was kinda surprised by how much they lingered on some of the gore but that’s not really an issue for me. It did suck to see the main girl die, but I mean it’s found footage not ‘I killed a monster and totally got away, here watch’ footage.
4: This one was actually really cool in terms of like ~feminism~ or whatever. I mean it doesn’t even have to be read as some kind of feminist theme, but that was just the vibe I got. I really don’t think I can go into detail on those themes without spoilers, but the basic premise is that this girl is video chatting her bf (who’s away for school or something) and she’s worried that there are ghosts in her apartment. There’s a neat backstory about something similar happening to her when the guy was away during her childhood, like weird bruises and other injuries she doesn’t remember, so it definitely keeps you interested. Also another one I reeeally don’t want to spoil because the twist is so cool.
Spoilers: So the truth is the guy actually was nearby the whole time (possibly in her place because he rushes in the room pretty quickly when she’s attacked), and it turns out that it’s not ghosts, but aliens, and the bf is using the gf to put trackers and alien babies in her, and tricking her into thinking she just got in some weird accident and forgot, which leads her to get misdiagnosed with something like schizophrenia. I mean it’s a perfect metaphor for gaslighting (he’s not hurting me, I’m just crazy), and while that’s not an exclusively feminist theme by any means (both genders are capable of abuse, and both genders are capable of being victims!) it being a theme here shows that this short is absolutely not misogynistic at all. Honestly I’m surprised I haven’t seen more people talk about this one. It’s really really great in terms of the plot, twists, and underlying themes my dumb brain came up with.
5: This one is really really cool, at first I was a little bored with it, but then you’re kinda like hm what’s going on, and then you’re like oh okay that’s going on. Coolcoolcool. So basically these 4 dudes are going to a Halloween party and they’re kinda lost, and they end up at this huge house, so they go in and it’s empty but really big and creepy so they’re like ‘maybe we’re early, or it’s more of a haunted house than a party’ stuff like that, so a bit of it is just the guys exploring the house and vaguely creepy stuff happening in the background. I’m just gonna leave it at that because like, it’s not exactly a twist but it is really unexpected.
Spoilers: So they hear people talking upstairs in the attic and they’re like ‘o nice we found the party’ but no it’s a literal cult chanting and beating up this girl they have tied up. The cult leader is like ‘wtf get outta here’ and the guys kinda get chased away, but one dumbass just had to be like ‘no man we gotta save her’ (king tbh. ur sacrifice will be remembered) so they all go back up there, beat up the cult guys, and get the girl out of there. But that’s when the really creepy stuff happens in the house, like dishes throw themselves at the guys and arms reach out of the walls (I’d actually seen this bit before in a try not to be scared compilation, but I didn’t know what it was from lol) but they do get out and into their car. But then the girl just disappears and the car stops working, and then they see her out the window and she looks kinda demony, and oop their car is stopped on a train track aaa. This one I’m kinda torn on, like about the misogyny thing, because yeah having the only female in the cast being a demon and justifying the cult’s treatment of her is iffy, but at the same time...dude she’s literally a demon, I’d be chaining her up too lol. So yeah I’m definitely leaning toward the not misogynistic side.
Overall I don’t see this movie as that misogynistic at all, and it’s otherwise just a really really good time. Definitely recommend.

Dealing With Allan (pt.4)
Tumblr media
Nottingham Castle. Outside the main gate. (Gisborne’s wagon comes down the street towards the gate. Robin, dressed as one of Gisborne’s men, is driving. He sees the portcullis is down.) Robin: (to the guards:) “Open up! Injured men ’ere.” Castle Guard: “Gisborne said you were all dead.” Robin: “Do we look dead?! Open up!” (The guard nods and the portcullis is raised. Robin drives the wagon through with the gang and Jack dressed in Gisborne’s uniforms in the back. Jack peeks out the side; Little John leans out the back, looking very grumpy.)   Courtyard. (Once inside, Robin doffs his uniform, shielded from the view of the guards at the gate by the wagon.) Robin: (to the gang and Jack:) “Go to the tower, find Aliena, get her out.” Much: (Jumps out of the wagon.) “And you?” Robin: “I’m going to find Allan.” Djaq: “Robin… don’t…” Robin: “Djaq. (Puts a hand behind her head.) I know you liked him, but he has to be stopped, for all our sakes. (Much hands Robin a sword. Puts his hand on Much’s shoulder.) Good luck.” (Goes up the steps to the main doors.) Little John: “Ready?” (The gang and Jack put on their helmets and flip down the visors.)   Nottingham Castle. The Kitchens. (Aliena is preparing the Sheriff’s meal. She smiles to herself as she adds the finishing touches, ladles everything with a big metal spoon then takes the two plates and leaves for the Sheriff’s quarters.) Interior corridor. Near the kitchens. (Allan walks down the corridor, hears a whistle near the stairs and stops. Another whistle sounds. Allan peers into the doorway to the stairs and Robin steps out from behind the jamb. Allan steps back.) Allan: “Robin?” Robin: (Quietly:) “Expecting to find your new friend Gisborne, Allan?” Allan: “Listen, I don’t want you to get the wrong idea. I had no choice. I would never take him to the camp. (Robin scoffs.) I wouldn’t. I love you, Robin, all of you.” Robin: “That’s very touching. But as they say… love hurts.” (Robin punches Allan’s nose, backing him into the the wall. Robin draws his sword, swinging it at Allan, who ducks and draws his sword. Robin brings his sword overhead and Allan blocks, bringing his sword over his head with both hands. Robin immediately takes advantage of the vulnerable position and kicks him down the stairs.)   The Kitchens. (Robin quickly goes down after Allan.) Allan: (Getting to his feet:) “Don’t do it, Robin! (Robin swings forcefully with both hands and Allan blocks, holding his sword at both ends. The blow forces him to his knees, then he pushes Robin’s blade aside, falling to his hands. Allan gets his feet back under him and Robin jabs his elbow into Allan’s shoulder. Allan staggers back past a pillar onto another set of steps. Robin brings his sword down and Allan rolls away, then scrambles up the steps into the kitchen. Robin swings with both hands and Allan blocks, barely keeping the blade from his face. Robin swings low and is blocked, then Allan swings his blade round, taking Robin’s with it. Allan swings overhand and Robin blocks overhead with both hands, quickly jabs the hilt into Allan’s groin, then takes his feet out from under him. Allan falls up the last step onto the floor and Robin charges up the stairs. Allan crawls under a table as Robin swings at his disappearing feet, then stands up on its other side.) Let’s just talk about this.”
Tumblr media
Robin: “Yeah, let’s talk. And you can start by telling me where the Sheriff [swipes all the dishes off the table] keeps his documents!” Allan: (Earnestly:) “I don’t know! Look, I just told him to empty his strong room, that’s it.” Robin: (Holding his sword at Allan over the table:) “You must know where he’s moved the pact.” Allan: “I swear I don’t. (Robin paces the length of the table.) Maybe his room. There’s a safe in there. Trust me, Robin!” Robin: “Trust you? No, I don’t think so.” (Robin swings over the table. Allan ducks, then upsets the table and a shelving unit to block Robin’s way. Robin swings his sword at a large pan hanging from the ceiling to knock it out of his way and walks under the swinging rack, advancing on Allan.) Allan: “I told you, I’d never betray you!” Robin: “You already have. And next you’ll betray Marian.” (Allan steps back through a curtained doorway as Robin swings. Allan blocks. Robin shoves aside the curtain to his right.) Allan: “I’m not a Judas.” Robin: “And I’m no Jesus.” (Robin anticipates Allan’s next move. Allan thrusts his sword at Robin, who twists the left curtain in front of him, grabs Allan’s wrist, and knocks the sword from his hand.)   Corridor upstairs. (Marian is walking down the corridor towards the stairs when Gisborne catches her up.) Gisborne: “Marian?” Marian: (Turns around.) “What happened to you?” Gisborne: “It’s just… an incident in the woods. It was nothing.” The kitchens. (Allan has turned around and is backing through the kitchens the way he came in. Robin steps through the curtained doorway after him. Robin swings low and Allan blocks with his new weapon: a long-handled metal spoon. Robin swings overhand and Allan pulls a large round copper pan hanging from the rack in front of the blade. The unexpected jolt knocks the sword from his hand. Robin puts his other hand up to stop the pan from swinging back at him and Allan swipes at it with the spoon. Allan reaches back and charges, swinging, but Robin drives his fist into Allan’s ribs. Robin grabs Allan’s head and drives it into the copper pan, gets a fistful of Allan’s jacket and punches him. Allan is spun round into the overturned table.) Corridor. Gisborne: “How is Sir Edward?” Marian: “I was just on my way to see him, actually. I’ll tell him you asked after him. That’s kind.” (Gisborne stops by the stairs.) Gisborne: “Marian…” The kitchens. (Robin comes down the short steps chasing Allan, who tries to run up the stairs to the main level. Robin pulls him back.) Corridor. (Marian sees movement beyond Gisborne down the stairs: Robin pulling Allan off the steps.) Gisborne: (Turns to face her.) “…there is another side to me.” Marian: (Puts her hand on Gisborne’s shoulder. Hastily:) “Guy! (Robin pulls Allan off his feet and gets him out of sight throwing him into a table. Gisborne looks at the hand on his shoulder. Normally:) My father. I should like to visit him alone.” Gisborne: (Puts his hand on her arm.) “Of course.” (Pulls her hand off and leaves.)
Tumblr media
The kitchens. (Allan is bent over a table, his back to Robin. Robin swings a bench over his back. Allan rolls along the table, grabs a knife off a cutting board and drives it at Robin, but he is too far away. Robin swings the bench at him again, but Allan gets off the table and dodges the blow. Robin turns to follow and hits Allan in the face. Allan falls to the floor near a pillar, dazed. Robin drops the bench, grabs Allan’s legs, drags him clear of the pillar, gets a fistful of his jacket, then punches his face again. Robin kneels over him, pulls his knife from his belt and holds it to Allan’s throat.) Robin: “Now.” Allan: “Please. I don’t wanna die.” (Marian hurries down the steps.) Robin: “Well, that’s the only way you’re gonna escape me.” Marian: “Robin, spare him!” (Robin looks up at her, suddenly daunted by her appearance.) Robin: (Distressed:) “I can’t.” (Marian rushes to Robin’s side and puts her hand over the knife.) Marian: “Please. Do it for me.” Robin: “Marian, I’m doing this for you, to protect you.” Marian: “Robin. Robin, please. (Marian puts one hand behind his head and the other on his cheek.) If you love me, you will let him go.” Robin: (With no hesitation:) “I do love you, and that’s why I can’t let him live. (Marian’s hand slips from his face.) Because one day he’ll do something to take you away from me.” Allan: (Earnestly:) “I wouldn’t.” (Robin resets knife.) Marian: “Please. Don’t taint us with his blood.”
Tumblr media
(Robin reluctantly lets go of Allan and sits back as Marian takes the knife. She roughly grabs at Allan’s shoulder and he sits up. Robin watches with mixed emotions as Allan turns to his hands and knees and clumsily crawls away. Marian watches him for a moment, then takes the knife and throws it into a sack in front of his head. Allan stops and looks back at her.) Marian: (Severely:) “You owe me your life! Don’t you ever betray me!” Allan: (Shakes his head slightly but earnestly.) “I won’t.” (Allan moves forward, then gets to his feet and walks away. Marian sits by Robin on the floor and breathes a sigh of relief. They sit quietly for a few moments, catching their breath.) Marian: “Took you a long time to tell me that.” Robin: “Tell you what?” Marian: (Tilts her head to one side.) “You know…” (Robin realises what he said and starts laughing. Marian joins in briefly, then is suddenly serious.) Robin: “I must have been half-concussed.” Marian: (Scoffs.) “Well, you’ll be fully concussed if you don’t watch out.” Robin: (Nods in agreement, then pauses.) “I think I know where the pact is.” (They both stand up.)
Tumblr media
Sheriff’s Quarters. (The Sheriff and Isabella are seated at the table as Aliena serves them.) Isabella: “This looks wonderful Aliena, thank you.” (Aliena nods silently in acknowledgement.) Sheriff: “Indeed it all looks marvellous but one has to wonder if it isn’t poisoned. Hm?” (The Sheriff and Aliena stare at each other, a battle of wills ensuing but she wisely averts her gaze first, careful not to give anything away.) Isabella: “Poisoned? Oh how silly you are Vaisey. Come, (Raising her goblet.) let’s toast. (The Sheriff slowly reaches for his own goblet, missing the silent exchange between the women, and raises it.) To us. (The Sheriff watches as Isabella takes a long sip from her goblet. After a long moment, the Sheriff drinks from his too.) Now, let’s tuck in.” (She lifts her fork to her mouth and takes a mouthful of her food. The Sheriff watching her for any adverse reaction. When he sees none he takes a bite of his own.) Sheriff: (Eyes lighting up in enjoyment, still chewing:) “Mm, this is fabulous. (Continuing to eat ravenously.) This really…“ (A silver serving tray clangs noisily against the back of the Sheriff’s head, knocking him unconscious.) Aliena: (Holding the tray:) “Hits the spot?” Isabella: (Smirking:) “That was subtle.” Aliena: "We needed him unconscious, now he’s unconscious. Besides, that felt really good.” Isabella: (Rising from her chair:) “Come on, we don’t have much time, help me lift him onto the bed and let’s get you out of here."
