rant about the state of online shifting; "get-it-off my chest" moment
part 1. scripting trauma/ being a bad person in a dr how many people are really doing "bad things" or scripting in trauma in their dr? lets be so fucking for real here. why is it that everytime someone "morally corrupt" it gets exposed months apart and the "culprit" is some small ass account with like ten followers? its not common. and im not saying it never happens. but shiftok is always on about these people and im like...who tf are yall talking about? they find one bad apple and then decide the whole community needs to be reminded how fucked up it is to do xyz.
i mean lets be realistic, how many people are going out of their way to script something traumatic or harmful? the majority of the online community (reddit, tumblr, tiktok) always talks about shifting for their s/o, adventure, frienships, family or a better life in some way. how many people are deliberately scripting to harm themselves or others? and is the number really so much that we need thinkpiece after thinkpiece about it?
aand when others behave immorally or get traumatized in their dr they will experience it. they will see the effects of any bad things they do to others. they will feel the trauma first hand and suffer from what theyve scripted in many ways. we dont need to punish these people. their dr will do it for them.
P. S what about when you shift to a dr like the walking dead? or even mha and keep in the war arc? thats traumatic. hell, even an idol / fame dr can be traumatic and those are hella common! yet nobody bats an eye or reprimands it...odd...
part 2. racebending race doesnt exist. i saw a shiftoker (a white one too??) act like someone was crazy for saying it! the whole concept was created by europeans! white mans burden, race based social classes, and eugenics all seems natural to yall? i mean logically its not odd to anyone that modern racial concepts were made by the same group of people in the same time period...? the time period people needed excuses to kill, rape, steal from and enslave other groups... search up "who created race" and then report back to me..anyways..
name one good thing that splitting people up and assigning them identities based on their background does for us? its caused mocking of those that dont fit the mold their race gives them, harmful views of other because of their racial group(s) and low self esteem from outside perceptions of your race. oh and division among groups on top of everything. so what is the point of holding on to race? abandon it! shift to be white, asian, black, indigenous, do what you want! youre not "changing your race" until you shift to become a different species (and theyres obvi nothing wrong w that!).
and some people say "if you script your another race your downplaying the racism poc face" but not every country has the same type of racism the states has. not every country is even as racist as the states. for example if im shifting to be fully south korean born & raised, and live full time in south korea, its not likely ill experience racism. and even so you can just...script out racism? like what...some people literally hate shifters who dont script out racism and expect everyone to script it out, but then turn to say that they cant change their race because of racism...huh? genuinely dont get that.
P. S im only really preaching abandonment of race so flippantly in regard to shifting. in this reality we're kinda stuck with it at this point lol.
P.S.S and it seems shifters from the usa hate racebending the most! as an american, i wonder how much of that is being intimidated that the concept of a racial hierarchy, that our nation has been built upon for centuries, can be shattered so easily...and therefore obviously proves it as obsolete. food for thought. (half joking here teehee)

MHA boys HC
Hello lovelies! This is my first post, I hope you enjoy! includes: Izuku Midoriya, Katsuki Bakugo, Shoto todoroki
(more next time)
Does include swearing ;-; (because itās Katsuki)
~Izuku Midoriya~
-ANYTHING will get this man flustered. Even if you wave at him, his face is already red, and as soon as you talk to him, heās a stuttering mess
-he eventually warms up to you though. Heāll still get flustered but he will at least be able to speak now
-play with his hair. Please.
-hold on to his arm instead of his hand. He loves it
-heās really sensitive, so try not to be too mean (^_^)
-if you kiss his freckles (or anywhere on his face, just especially freckles) he will blush like crazy (obvi) and the immediately pull you in for a hug. Now you wonāt be able to go anywhere until he gives you all the love in the world
-style his hair. Those curls just need to be taken care of T~T
-def doesnāt do enough self care. Just help him out for me, alright? Iām talking face masks, top coat for his nails (PLZ- this manās hands š£), skincare, R+R
-speaking of R+R, his favourite way to relax is Netflix and chill, with his head in your lap and you playing with his hair (never going to stop with his hair I js love it sm)
-will literally throw himself out of the car just to open the door for you. Probably has hurt himself a few times from this
-super insecure about his scars!!! Poor baby. The first time you traced his scars, he cried.
-his hands are so rough! (In a good way obvi) like, they feel like sandpaper most of the time, and heās really insecure about those too >_< -probably has written so much about your quirk that it takes up a whole notebook! Youāre just so much more interesting to him than anyone else. Also has other notebooks filled with the things you like/dislike. Literally anything you told him about yourself is written down somewhere
-his laugh is the most heavenly thing. Itās so sweet and genuine. Same with his smile :)
~Katsuki Bakugo~
-this man is so angry all the time, but if you get close enough to him (takes a long time plz be patient) he has such a soft spot for you!!!
-literally the best cook in existence
-being together for dinner with him looks like him teaching you a new recipe, and you guys cooking together. Still yells a lot at you tho (we love him for it)
-hugs from behind āØ (iykyk)
-brags about you to the bakusquad all the time. ādid you see y/n on the battle field!?!? She totally smoked your ass dunceface!ā
-swears a lot while talking to you about his day. āAnd then the fucking lady decided to steal that guys shitty bag! It wasnāt even a nice bag, it looked like it came out of the motherfucking apocalypse!ā
-shows his love through actions. Words are hard for him (see the one above)
-makes fun of you all the time
-if heās about to yell and he knows youāre sensitive, heāll cover your ears before he yells (this one isnāt my hc, just something Iāve seen a lot)
-heās a bit of a brat. He just likes seeing you pissed off. Thinks itās adorable
-very affectionate when youāre alone. Other than that, PDA isnāt very goodā¦maybe heāll hold your hand or wrap is his arm around your waist so people know to back off, but he gets embarrassed easily.
-shows off around you so much. As soon as you show up to one of his arena fights (different headcanon, might elaborate later) he immediately wins.. you just give him the right motivation with you watching
-he hates when you play with his hair, but he LOVES to touch yours. If itās long enough, heāll braid it. Or if itās not heāll give you little scalp massages š®āšØ
-bullies your bullies. He knows you can handle yourself, but you gotta use your scary boyfriend privileges sometime
~Shoto todoroki~
-if youāre too cold or too hot, heāll use his quirk to help with that.
-also, itās canon that heās usually very cold himself, but canāt regulate his fire well enough to be a good temperature so he deals with it. So cuddles are a must to keep him warm
-heās so insecure about it his scar, he thinks it makes him ugly and unlovable (canon) so he needs constant reassurance
-poor bae gets night terrors
-takes you to all the new restaurants in town. You guys have been every single one at least once
-make homemade (cold) soba for him or else *_*
-not that it matters to him, but Endeavor does not approve of him dating, so be prepared for arguments. You guys will win in the end though
-so sassy. Loves to back talk
-walks together late at night ļæ½ļæ½ļæ½ļ潚
-not very talkative, heād rather listen to you ramble. Literally the opposite of izuku in that way
-takes all your jokes way too seriously. You have to explain everything, but after that heāll laugh with you about it
-SO oblivious. If you gave him a confession note, heāll ask if you wanted him to proofread it. Or if you said it to his face, heād be frozen and then ask āthat sounds good, is it a line for a play? I didnāt know you did theatreā¦ā
-rich as hell, takes you shopping and youāre not allowed to pay for anything. Treats you with endeavors credit card š
-literally best fashion sense. Iām talking flannels, baggy sweaters with cuffed sleeves, those cargo shorts that have the massive pockets.
Thanks for reading! I hope you guys liked them (>~<)

my mind is in shock
[mha spoilers]
i saw a couple of videos on tiktok talking about how they feel bad for shoto bcs he wasnāt in touyaās flashback when he thinks of the ideal family yk?
and people in the comments were just like, āshoto just wants to eat soba with his big brother and touya hates him for no reasonā
but thereās akshually a very big reason āš½š¤
shoto quite literally represents everything touya could have been and could have had. before shoto was born, touya was his fatherās pride and joyāthe closest thing endeavor had to fulfilling his lifeās dream of surpassing all might. but then with the development of touyaās quirk and how it was destroying himself, endeavor realized he couldnāt push touya far enough without possibly killing him.
in comes shoto! who is, quite literally, the perfect son. shoto embodies the whole reason he married rei to begin with, he wanted a child who could wield both of their quirks and use them to become the new number one. (because, letās be real, by this point in his life, endeavor never expected to become number one so he needed someone strongerābetterāfrom his bloodline to fill his dreams for him) so endeavor pushes touya to the back burner and focuses everything on shoto.
i mean, no wonder the boy went crazy. imagine being the apple of your (albeit toxic and manupulative and abusive) fatherās eye, only to suddenly be pushed aside for someone better, someone strongerāmore perfect. and not even just a random someone, your baby brother. iād go crazy too, shit. and so, he [touya] starts to build up all this bitterness and anger and resentment towards shoto for taking that away from him, and also directs it at endeavor for casting him aside like some broken toy.
touya also resents shoto because he represents endeavor as a whole, i mean think about itāshoto goes to endeavorās agency for his work studies, endeavor keeps shoto on a tight leash, shoto begins to open up to his father a little more (heavy emphasis on āa littleā), shoto realizes that the hatred he carried for his father was only holding him back and so he begins his looonggg journey of forgiveness.
shoto is everything touya isnāt.
shoto is a hero, touya is a villain.
shoto is capable of forgiveness, touya wants revenge.
shoto is his fatherās pride, touya is his fatherās regret.
and touya hates him for it.

I Think Katsuki is Going to Give Izuku His Quirk in the End
(rewritten here)
There are only two chapters left, so who knows, I haven't seen leaks, but I think there's some compelling evidence supporting the possibility that Katsuki will end up quirkless and Izuku will be given his quirk. And I felt like talking about it. Hi.
*Manga spoilers through chapter 428, Vigilantes, and the Heroes Rising movie*
In chapter 304, Izuku finds out that he's likely the last person who will ever hold One For All, since it can only be transferred to a quirkless person now. Izuku is the 9th, and final, user of OFA.
Except, the thing is, this isn't true.
I'd been going with the understanding that OFA can't be passed on again, but that's not quite what it says in the manga. They say he might be the last wielder and that it can't go to an ordinary person anymore.
This is true, in order to hold the power of OFA, one has to be quirkless, because it eats away at one's life force to have multiple quirks added to their own (as we see with the 4th user).
And this also isn't true, because of the Heroes Rising movie.
The really crazy thing I realized is that this contradiction, doesn't actually contradict what's been established in manga canon.
So, what counts as canon?
Everything, apparently.
In Heroes Rising, there are two little kids at the center of things, Katsuma and Mahoro.
In chapter 384 of the manga, those same two little kids showed up. Then they show up again in chapter 405.
Meaning, the events of that movieā¦ happened?
And that means that there aren't nine OFA users; there are ten.
All Might Vestige
In chapter 362, Katsuki dies. R.I.P. Kacchan, who has now also died in the anime.
But near death, the person he sees in his final moments is All Might. Not Izuku, not his family, not his friends, his teacher. And not just All Might, All Might's non-verbal glowing vestige.
Why this version of All Might, instead of the man?
I have an idea, and it has to do with Heroes Rising.
I thought Vestige-Might was just a stylistic choice on Horikoshi-sensei's part. All Might symbolizes Katsuki's dream, he's the person he idolized his whole life, and he's thinking about things he regrets in his final moments; an autograph from his hero, such a simple thing he never got to ask for.
But then Katsuki stopped being dead and all of a sudden Mahoro and Katsuma showed up in the manga, twice, and I had to reevaluate my perception of MHA canon and what qualifies.
Let's rewind a bit to chapter 254, before the PLF raid so I can make a quick point (for others like me who are used to supplementary material not being acknowledged in, or as, canon).
When Eraserhead and Present Mic are talking to Kurogiri and trying to coax Shirakumo out of him, Eraserhead talks about Shirakumo saving a cat, after Aizawa had left it behind.
For like four years I wondered why the story kept trying to make me care so much about Shirakumo and his friendship with the other two, with so little information given, only to find out not long ago that the entire backstory is covered in Vigilantes.
Which means Vigilantes is canon.
Which means, with the inclusion of movie characters in the main mangaā¦ it's all canon. Searching the subreddit and wiki also confirmed this for me.
So if Heroes Rising is canon, that drastically changes the context and potential meaning of Vestige-Might appearing to near death Katsuki.
Because in Heroes Rising, Izuku transfers OFA to Katsuki to defeat Nine.
When it's over, OFA doesn't stay with Katsuki; it goes back to Izuku and Katsuki has no memory of this ever happening. But Katsuki does hold OFA for a short time.
That means that Katsuki is the 10th OFA holder.
Like I said, there aren't nine, there are ten holders.
Like, did it bother anyone else that nine was such an awkward number for OFA holders? It feels incomplete, right?
Considering the events of the manga, this is a potentially huge deal with some interesting implications.
In the final battle in the manga, Deku passed OFA to Shigaraki, one quirk at a time. OFA, the quirk, is officially dead and gone; only the embers remain in Izuku and Izuku is quirkless again.
But like I saidā¦ since the movies are canon, then it's also possible that a small ember is also in Katsuki. He didn't hold it long enough to have his own vestige like All Might, but he was still a holder.
So, what if Katsuki was seeing Vestige-Might within the OFA vestige world and that really was All Might? Glow-Might couldn't speak, just like how we see him in Izuku's vestige space; and iirc, he can't speak, because All Might is still alive.
Now, Katuski only saw All Might, not any of the other holders, but that also makes sense. They have no emotional investment in Katsuki, he barely held the quirk, and he doesn't know who they are aside from what he read in All Might's notes. But All Might does care about him, so it makes sense that the piece of himself that exists within OFA would appear in his student's final moments, through the ember of OFA inside Katsuki.
As I was looking to find chapter numbers for this, I ended up flipping through the All Might vs. AFO fight by happenstance and realized something else:
This is from chapter 403. It looks like All Might is about to die and as he thinks this is the end for him, his life flashes before his eyes and he looks back at the path he walked and notices these balls of light on the ground. He thinks, "And what I sawā¦ seemed so very significant."
Hey. You notice anything about this bright ball of light in the center of the panel?
At the end of the chapter, we see Katsuki and Izuku holding those balls of light, with All Might watching from the background, holding his own ball of light. I thought this represented him being their teacher, pushing them forward to become great heroes, a passing of the torch to the next generation of heroes. He never had kids, so this is how he passes on his legacy, through the aspirations of all the children who looked up to him.
Or.
Or it is a passing of the torch, but literally.
Dynamight's Final Fight
I don't know if anyone noticed this, it might not be significant, their costumes get destroyed all the time, butā¦
In his fight with Shigaraki, as ShigAFO tells him he'll never be anything more than Deku's hanger on, Katsuki's costume is destroyed. Going back a few chapters from 362 (R.I.P. Kacchan), visually, it feels like we're being shown his dream of becoming a pro hero get destroyed bit by bit. His arm gets crushed and twisted, his gauntlets are shattered, his mask gets torn off, he gets an upgrade to his costume and it's barely effective, and it seems from the narration that his quirk was damaging his body from the inside out (like how OFA would do to Izuku).
That fight looks like the end for him, his heart literally explodes (or gets pierced, idk), but he gets back up, saves All Might, and has a grand finale against AFO. The last thing we see him do is propel Izuku the final step to deal that last punch and end things. It's Izuku's story, so of course he lands the final blow, but the point is, Katsuki the one to support him then, because it could never be him.
When we see him in the hospital after it's all over in ch. 424, not only is he told his arm possibly never going to regain normal function, let alone enough to use his quirk like he did before, but his heart is also damaged. We already know that he uses support items to store up his sweat, and I imagine in the MHA world a prosthesis could function similarly in hero work, yet he wants to do the long and painful rehabilitation, despite possibly never regaining function. This is not to criticize his choice to keep his arm at all, I just thought it was interesting, considering how similar he's shown to be to Mirko and how he chose the opposite of what she did.
This feels like a very important choice, because of the support item aspect.
But the most interesting thing in this scene was that he mentions that Izuku never had a quirk to begin with, right before he finds out that Izuku is quirkless again.
(side note: Both Izuku and All Might fought quirkless in the final battle and I love that for them? Like Izuku was technically quirkless when he dealt that final weather changing blow, incredible.)
How Does OFA Actually Work?
Once All Might gave OFA to Izuku, he no longer had the quirk, just the embers. He couldn't pass on the ember that was left inside him and those embers couldn't be stolen. Izuku can't pass on what he has left either. The actual OFA quirk is gone from the previous holder once it's transferred.
But I think another reason that All Might or Izuku couldn't pass anything on again after giving it away, is that they were both quirkless. In the absence of the quirk-passing quirk, there's nothing left of their own quirk factors to pass on, because they never had one. And all of the other holders died/were killed so it wasn't tested as a possibility.
If you think about itā¦ didn't Nana still have Float once she passed OFA onto All Might? All Might never unlocked the other users' quirks (he never had Float) so there's no test he could have done for this either. As far as all the other holders knew, OFA was just lifetimes of built up strength passed on, none of them made true contact with the vestiges to learn about its true power. There would have been no reason to assume that their quirk was forfeit once OFA was passed on, because they didn't know that the actual unique quirk factor was stored.
But if she still had Float after transfer, I would imagine that means that only a copy of the quirk, a small piece, is what's passed on in OFA and that the original stays with the person. One For All isn't eight quirks, it's a single quirk with the abilities of the predecessors. Otherwise, if Shinomori died of old age at a very young age, All Might living as long as he did while holding onto it for longer makes no sense.
If OFA gives, while AFO takes, it also makes sense that OFA doesn't take the person's original quirk.
So what does that mean for canon right now?
If Katsuki is the 10th OFA holder and if a small bit of OFA lives inside him, it was unused, and therefore undiminished, because he never knew it was thereāhe doesn't remember the events of the movie. He hasn't been using OFA like All Might used it until it was barely a flicker, so the piece that could be inside him is still burning brightly.
He can't pass on OFA anymore, just like All Might and Izuku; the actual OFA quirk is gone.
But Katsuki isn't quirkless.
OFA is a quirk meant to pass power from one person to another. If Izuku and All Might could still make use of OFA's strength, who's to say that it's transfer ability couldn't also be used via the embers? Remember, they didn't have their own quirks to try this out and everyone before them had died early.
Katsuki would be the only person left who could possibly use it pass on a quirk again, because he actually has his own quirk. And while Izuku was the last person who could hold it as a quirkless person (a rarity in his generation), as a quirkless person once more, he's also the perfect vessel to receive a quirk using the last remaining bits of OFA.
So how does this not contradict manga canon?
Well, like I mentioned, the vestiges tell him that he might be the last wielder of OFA, because now it can only go to someone quirkless, and there are fewer and fewer quirkless people born in the world.
Yet, in Heroes Rising, Izuku transfers it to Katsuki, who is not a quirkless individual.
At the end of the movie, once Nine is defeated, Katsuki can't hold onto it and it goes back to Izuku. This aligns exactly with what the vestiges told him. Katsuki just got a taste of the super strength aspect of the quirk, but it didn't stay with him. All Might posits that it's because he passed out before the transfer finished, but changes his mind into thinking it was a miracle granted by the predecessors (since OFA has been shown to have a will).
But what if he was wrong, and it went back to Izuku, because Katsuki literally couldn't hold onto it, as it was too much for his body?
In Heroes Rising, Nine (whose name feels very significant now), was given the ability to hold nine quirks and use eight, and it was too much for him, he had to be genetically modified by Garaki. And even then, he was trying to steal Katsuma's Cell Activation quirk, because his body was breaking down the more he used them. I could be mistaken of course, but I think we're given a villain like this to show what multiple quirks do to the body and the movie ended the way it did, not breaking canon rules for OFA, because we're seeing that it was always impossible for Katsuki to hold onto it. Nobody but Izuku, a quirkless person, can.
We already know Izuku was the 9th holder, but I actually just realized, Izuku was holding onto and could use eight quirks. But if Katsuki was the 10th user, that means he was also possibly holding onto nine while being able to use eight, just like Nine. If I'm mistaken, someone please correct me, but look:
Yoichi's original quirk to pass on power
Power Stocking Quirk gifted by AFO
Gear Shift
Fa Jin
Danger Sense
Black Whip
Smokescreen
Float
(and a copy of Katsuki's Explosion could have been in there, never unlocked or known about since he doesn't have a vestige)
Possible coincidence? Absolutely. But, I meanā
And as for how Katsuki would even know that he has OFA if he doesn't remember: He saw Vestige-Might specifically and All Might was there after the battle with Nine.
Katsuki knows about the vestiges from Izuku. He figured out that All Might was the one who gave Izuku his quirk, despite having no reason to believe that quirk transfer was possible aside from Izuku telling him he got his quirk from someone else. Katsuki is smart enough to figure out that Vestige-Might appearing to him could possibly mean something OFA related.
As For Why Katsuki Might (Possibly) (Probably) (Maybe?) Give Up His Quirk
Because he didn't get the prosthesis. And because of his final fight.
I already mentioned this, but to me, it feels like he's resigning himself to a decision. As if he wants to keep both of his hands as a reminder of what he used to be able to do with them and there's no need for a support item like prosthesis, if he's not going to be using his quirk anymore. If he's giving it up.
Of course, he doesn't yet know that Izuku is quirkless at that point, but the author knows and that's who controls the character's actions.
We've learned a lot about Katsuki throughout the story. We know Katsuki has changed from the punk he was at the beginning. We know he's been paying as much attention to Izuku as Izuku has to him. We know he's sorry and wants to make things up to him. He apologized in front of their entire class and didn't expect forgiveness or for things to change between them. He can't undo years of bullying, there's no way to take that back, the past can't be undone, but he's trying to atone. He wants to atone.
We know he cares about Izuku, we know he would literally die for Izuku, and we also know that Katsuki was devastated at the news that Izuku is quirkless again. He's actually cried a lot in the story, but I think that was the first time he cried for someone else's sake. They were his first tears that weren't from frustration, and his thoughts in that moment were "what did I do to you?"
We also know that Katsuki wanted to be the strongest hero, and honestlyā¦ he kind of already achieved his goal.
From chapter one he's gotten a ton of media attentionāthe sludge villain, winning the sports festival, the kidnapping and rescue (coinciding with All Might's end), defeating a villain with Shouto after they got their provisional licenses. He's literally famous. People have taken notice of him with everything he's done the entire story, for good and bad, and then the entire world saw him defeat AFO and help Deku make it to Shigaraki to land that final punch. After a rocky start and being painted as villainous, he showed he could be a great hero and it was acknowledged by the entire world. There isn't really anywhere else for his story to naturally go as a hero.
It's literally physically impossible for a single human to surpass All Might without OFA, which was Katsuki's goal at the beginning. And at the end, he just wanted him and Izuku to keep chasing after each other, always trying to catch up forever, but now they can't.
It's also why Endeavor's story is so tragic. Can you imagine being Endeavor when he found out about OFA and that the game had been rigged against him from the start? He spent his entire life trying to be the strongest, not number one, but the strongest. He put all his energy into surpassing All Might, abused and neglected his family in pursuit of that goal, cast aside everything else, and then he finds out his entire life had been pointless, because All Might was using a cheat code. Endeavor never stood a chance to begin with. He could have spent that time getting to know his kids, or marrying someone out of love, or making one (1) single friend, but instead he was the number two hero for twenty-six straight years and went nowhere. His ambition meant nothing.
It's been reiterated time and again in the story that Katsuki and Endeavor are parallels. Shigaraki was right that Katsuki would never catch up to Deku, it's impossible. He would have lived his entire life like Endeavor in a meaningless pursuit. And if we look at Endeavor's conclusion, well...
Endeavor had planned to give up hero work and spend the rest of his life looking at Touya and atoning to his family. He ended up being forced to by his injuries, but he had still planned to give up the thing in his life that had given him the most meaning and pride (when it should have been his family). Hero work was the thing he valued most, and so Endeavor gave it up for what really mattered.
For Katsuki, the thing that gave him the most meaning and pride in his life was his quirk. And striving to be the best, just like Endeavor. He valued that over his friendship with Izuku, the thing that really mattered. It's kind of undeniable at this point, leaving shipping completely out of the equation, that Izuku is Katsuki's most important person.
So with Endeavor's conclusion, and how the manga is currently goingā¦ I can't help but wonder if that final fight against OFA was supposed to be Katsuki's big send off. A huge spectacle with everyone in the world watching, because that was the end of the road for him; his last big battle, not just in the story, but ever.
What if that was the end of his journey to becoming a pro hero?
What if we got to see his quirk evolve one last time and take down the baddest bad guy, because it was the last time he was ever going to be physically able to use his quirk?
Is the logical conclusion to his story for him to give up that thing he valued over what was important to him, just like Endeavor did in the end? Would him giving that up symbolize him not following in Endeavor's footsteps of obsessive drive that eclipses everything else in his life?
Is Katsuki is going to give Izuku his Explosion quirk, using that last bit of OFA?
And what if Katsuki is going to end the story quirkless and was always intended to from the very beginning?
And here's where I get back to those lights.
Because I think it (possibly) confirms what I was saying in the beginning.
There are nine One For All users, according to the manga. We've established that that's not actually true if the movies are canon, and they are. There are ten OFA users.
These are the full two panels previously mentioned of what All Might was thinking at the start of 403 when he looked back at his path.
He thinks, "As for what I've done? I just happened to glance back at my path. And what I sawā¦ seemed so very significant."
Let's see how many lights there are as he looks back at his path:
There are ten (10) lights [insert TNG joke here], not nine. And the big one, smack dab in the center, is shown with Katsuki's explosions around it.
I thought for a moment that these were possibly just the stored quirk factors, but Izuku and All Might are quirkless, so there wouldn't be ten lights if that were the case.
I think it's showing us that these lights represent the holders of OFA.
Katsuki is that tenth center light, confirming that he's the 10th OFA user.
This panel right here of the child Katsuki and Izuku with their balls of light? This is on the last page before Izuku sees Katsuki alive again after finding him dead and losing his mind. Please note All Might in the background, also holding his own ball of light.
And remember this from chapter 362 (R.I.P. Kacchan)?
It's the same image as Katsuki's final thoughts. The balls of light are the trading cards they got that day, but wait for itā
In 403, right before the panel of them as children holding the balls of light, we see that same center ball of light on the ground of All Might's path again, then a panel of Katsuki holding his All Might trading card beneath it. Almost as if the story is trying to tell us something about what that trading card represents and what Katsuki holding it really means.
Right before we see their expressions as they lock eyes, as Izuku realizes Katsuki isn't dead, it shows the two of them as little kids, happy to have both gotten All Might trading cards.
I don't think the trading cards we see here are really trading cards.
This whole chapter, the last two pages especially, was completely re-contextualized for me after noticing there are ten lights.
Like I said earlier, All Might didn't just pass the torch metaphorically, I think he passed it literally.
OFA is always represented as flame, as embers, etc... Those trading cards don't just symbolize their friendship, or their dreams, or their admiration, I think Horikoshi-sensei is showing us that they both have the same trading card, because they both have the same thing inside of them. Something passed onto them from All Might, because All Might is also shown with his own ball of light.
Why would All Might have his own All Might trading cardā¦?
The trading cards aren't trading cards, they're One For All. Katsuki and Izuku hold the embers that All Might passed down to both of them.
Remember, the scene in 362 and 403 are exactly the same. They're Katsuki's memories. How is All Might's near death vision showing him memories that aren't his? Well, if they're connected through One For All, it makes sense that he sees that, because that's literally impossible otherwise. He could see them as high schoolers, as middle schoolers when he first me them, but not as small children in a very real scene that actually happened.
And if OFA is still alive inside Katsuki, I think that means he can transfer Explosion, because he has his own quirk factor.
If Izuku and All Might could still use everything that made OFA what it was, despite not having it anymore, there is nothing saying that the transfer ability wouldn't also work.
The only thing stopping them from trying is having nothing to pass on, because they were quirkless. Katsuki does have something he can pass on, though.
And who better to receive Katsuki's Explosion quirk, than the person who'd spent his entire life watching him?? Izuku is the perfect person, and I imagine the only person Katsuki would deem worthy of receiving it. He knows Katsuki's moves almost as well as Katsuki himself.
At USJ when the Shigaraki attacks, Izuku puts on a brave face and fights just like Kacchan. When he learns from Gran Torino, he realizes that he has to be more loose and fluids with his movements, just like Kacchan. In [training exercise I can't remember] Katsuki notices that Izuku copied his moves. He knows how Katsuki's moves work without him even telling him.
What if the story came full circle and Izuku was constantly emulating Katsuki in the beginning, because it was foreshadowing that he was always supposed to end up with his Explosoin quirk?
Can you imagine how good that payoff could be?
All that paying attention to Kacchan, admiring him, copying his moves, trying to be like him, having him as his image of victory, knowing a frankly alarming amount about it, what if that was all 430 chapters of foreshadowing? This is why I asked if maybe Katsuki was always intended to end up quirkless.
What if the thing that caused the rift in their friendship is going to be the thing that heals it, as Bakugou's ultimate acknowledgement that quirkless nerd Izuku was always a hero and deserves to be one more than anyone else?
What if giving his quirk to Izuku, who is once again quirkless, is his ultimate atonement and the thing that Horikoshi-sensei said back in like 2022 (paraphrasing because I don't remember, please don't quote me) that he hoped would make Bakugou fans and haters alike both happy? Because I thought it was killing him (R.I.P. Kacchan), but this feels like it makes more sense.
I think swapping places from where they started would be the perfect conclusion for their friendship and Katsuki's journey. I don't know about the whole story, and I don't care to speculate about that, but for the two of them, this feels right to me.
That said, I am aware there are some
Potential Issues With This
1. Would Izuku accept the quirk? Probably not, but as we saw with Yoichi and Kudou, the recipient doesn't have to be aware in order to receive OFA; it's on the giver to will it to them. The recipient does not have to consent, all Katsuki has to do is spit in his food, really.
2. There's the issue of Izuku trying to give it right back. But All Might only managed to hold onto OFA's embers for a few months after nurturing it for 40 years. Izuku only held OFA for a little over a year, he probably won't have the embers very long and it's already been a while since the final battle. All Katsuki would have to do is wait a few weeks for the last embers of it to fade from Izuku before transferring it, ensuring he couldn't pass it back. Since Katsuki only held OFA for less than a day, that would probably use up the last embers of OFA for good.
3. The lack of acknowledgement of the events of Heroes Rising in the main manga is a MASSIVE writing issue. For me, this is the thing that makes the scenario most unlikely, because as of July 24, 2024, there are only two (2) chapters left to go and that's not much time to explain movie events in order to not have a quirk transfer seem like it came out of nowhere or breaks established canon.
3a. But, like I mentioned before, this was already done this with Vigilantes concerning Shirakumo's backstory. We're supposed to feel empathy and compassion for their long dead friend, but no real work was put into the main manga to establish how close their relationship was, we're just told that they were friends and classmates. We get some hints to the events in Vigilantes in the main manga, but they don't carry as much weight without the full context.
Meanwhile in Vigilantes, Shirakumo and Aizawa are very close and they're all friends, but tbh, Mic is basically a third wheel. The entire arc reads like a tragic story of lost love, Shirakumo's death changed everything for Aizawa. After Shirakumo's death, Aizawa goes off on his own, works himself to the bone, doesn't sleep because he's training all night (the origin story of the sleeping bag), is depressed, stops trying in classes, he's told his quirk is suited for working with others (which is true) yet he goes independent, basically abandons Mic and the plans the three of them had to start an agency together (he says they were going to be a duo or a trio and let me tell you, Mic was not included in the duo)āit's depressing.
No wonder Aizawa was the one who got so worked up at seeing Kurogiri; Shirakumo meant a lot to him, his entire world shifted when he died. And no wonder Mic was so uncharacteristically reserved and pissed about the whole situation; he'd had to watch Aizawa retreat into himself for years after Shirakumo died, and then his ghost showed back up as a villain. Aizawa's arc is pretty long in Vigilantes, I think it's an entire volume, so it would bring the plot to a grinding halt if it were all included in the main manga, but unfortunately, none of this information feels effectively communicated through subtext in the main manga.
In my opinion, Vigilantes is a necessary read to understand several things the main manga. I loved it, and I highly recommend it (despite some very questionable scenes); imo, Number 6 vs. The Crawler felt like it did a better job at what at least two final fights in MHA were going for. But I'm not a fan of writing that requires you to have read outside material to fill in gaps. That said, I've also seen this happen before in American comic books, so I think it kind of makes sense that that influence would carry over and he'd rely on supplementary material like Vigilantes and the movies.
So getting back to my point, if Katsuki does have OFA, like those lights and Vestige-Might seem to imply, I'm kind of thinking it will be the same sort of situation, where it's expected the reader will have watched Heroes Rising. Especially since Horikoshi-sensei drew so many illustrations with Mahoro and Katsuma.
The ten lights, the fact that Nana still had Float (afaik), Vestige-Might, the fact that Heroes Rising was acknowledged at least twice in the main manga, Endeavor's ending, the trading cards, etcā¦ all make me think that this is the conclusion for Katsuki that Horikoshi-sensei was working towards: quirkless Katsuki and Izuku with Explosion. But I also know that just because something is set up and foreshadowed, doesn't mean that the author will actually go through with it, especially in a weekly manga where anything can interfere with the story at any moment. Maybe I'm close to right and maybe I'll be so far off it's not even funny.
But who knows. There are only two chapters left and some writing choices have been confusing to say the least. I just hope we get a satisfactory ending, no matter what it is. Thank you, Horikoshi-sensei for all your hard work.
What do you think?
Do you think Katsuki will give Explosion to Izuku?
Do you think Izuku will become the first quirkless pro hero instead?
Do you think Katsuki could become the first quirkless pro hero? How wild would that be!
Do you think they'll go to a fair and share a crepe and we'll finally get that holding hands scene and the quirk will be transferred via saliva and Izuku will have an oh shit bakudeku canon moment thinking back to his words to Toga? Unlikely with how many chapters are left, but I would scream.
I haven't seen anyone talk about this before, I really only look at ship tags, but this feels pretty bkdk and I'd imagine I would have seen it at some point if so, especially around the time 362 (R.I.P. Kacchan) and 424 dropped. I don't really read theories, as I generally don't care where the story goes and am just along for the ride, but if someone has said all this before me, sorry for being redundant!
I hope this wasn't too repetitive, thanks for reading āļøDon't mind my blank blog, this is just a side blog on a side account, feel free to let me know if I've made any mistakes, I'm not an expert on the story by any means and welcome correction.
I haven't looked at leaks (if they're out, I don't check for that) so that would be wild if anything I mentioned here was in them, but tbh I doubt it, haha.

MHA is a nightmare and my personal punching bag
A lot of people like to say that MHA is bad. But a large sum of the fandom has largely ignored the actually problems with the story and characters as a whole. The problems that have been applauded despite the gaping flaws. So let's discus.
Where do I start? My Hero Academia is the single most horrible show I have watched for some time. It's good points are far and few between the shit show of it's story and characters. So it's small problems first. It's over sexualizaton of it the teens in it's cast is just abhorrent and I hold similar sentiments for the fandom in some cases. The villains frankly get too much attention, with one crazy man's ideology pulling all the weight of their missguided motive. Or everything being a direct result of one delusional man's puppeteering. Not to mention the overall demonization of mental illness and inherently flawed take of forgiving your abusers.
Midoriya and All Might is a toxic relationship. Sorry about the whiplash, allow me to explain. From the start we get to see Midoriya as a victim of Bakugo's almost constant abuse, but also his love of All Might. The idyllic and 'perfect' hero he aspires to be and is convenient to. Izuku Midoriya is All Might's convenient child because Midoriya is too blinded by his idol worship to see that All Might is using him to continue his battles, slowly grooming Midoriya into the next him. All Might is the last oasis in the desert of his life and Midoriya has none of the tools necessary to leave, All Might wont let him leave. And he goes unchallenged by the story for lifting up Midoriya's suicidal tendencies by preying on his need for validation through action. All Might is using Midoriya to desperately cling to his golden years and that is actively detrimental to Midoriya's growth as a character.
If I may compare Izuku to another similar character, and I shall. Mahiru Shirota is one of the protagonists of Servamp, a character driven manga about servant vampires or Servamps and their masters or Eves. Mahiru is the eve of sloth, his Servamp, Kuro or Sleepy Ash. Mahiru at the start of the story is almost identical to Midoriya through out mha, Mahiru is a convenient child for everyone in the story. He doesn't voice his objection or opinions beyond what you would expect from a kid like him. He aims to please and is almost suicidal in his pursuit of validation. But were Midoriya stagnates, Mahiru blooms, he grows to be more selfish and loving thanks to the logical end point of that stagnant arc, Kuro. Kuro was killed by sloth, his willingness to take the blame for a crime he didn't commit for the sake of his village. His selflessness and the inherent selfish need of external validation was no different than suicide. But were Kuro and Mahiru grow, Midoriya just doesn't, he rots on the vine and fails to become anything. His lack of growth makes him come off as winey and pathetic or just boring because he doesn't change for the better. His stint of vigilantism is just every adult in his life telling him that sacrificing himself is how he will atone for his inherited burden. For the sin of All Might's sloth for what Yagi and the other holders allowed to fester in the dark.
Bakugo Katsuki is... a good premise with bad execution. Bakugo's entire arc is learning to not be a fucking asshole, simple in premise and absolute horse shit in execution. From the word go, Bakugo is shown to be an abuser. Midoriya's abuser to be precise. Going so far as to actively tell Midoriya to kill himself. Now, Bakugo's abuse is born from a place of projection, Bakugo is a narcissist, not in the traditional sense, but more in a way that makes him unable to empathize with positive emotion in relation to himself and others. He is the center of the world, but at the same time he thinks of himself as worthless without his strength, unable to exist with the knowledge that he isn't the best of the best. Bakugo's arc ends far too late. Bakugo's arc should had started after the sports festival at his interaction with Best Jeanist leading to an apology tour and ended during the culture festival, his payoff during the fight against AFO Shigaraki and the vigilante Deku arc. Bonus points if Midoriya doesn't forgive him at first, leading to Bakugo working to regain that trust in more tangible ways. Have Bakugo seek towards empathy.
Ochako Uraraka isn't a character, not a well made one at least. To be fair this is something most of the cast suffers from. If it isn't the main protagonists or antagonists, the writer doesn't care. Uraraka is just the love interest without any depth of character beyond that. People like to pretend there is more going on, but I just don't see it. All of her 'growth' is motivated by her obsessive and honestly one sided love for Midoriya, a love that is only returned when Midoriya and she are looking for something to fill the void. It's toxic and terribly familiar to his and All Might's relationship. Midoriya is constantly put into the role of savior to all of these characters that don't in turn assist in his growth.
Speaking of Midoriya's role of savior, we have finally arrived at the L.O.V. The League of Villains is a good premise for an exploration of the inner politics of a world where 20% of the world lacks a unique superpower (that's still a lot BTW). Or to dive into the segregation of those with detrimental, uncontrollable, or 'villainous' quirks. The bigotry towards mutagenic quirks. Or an actual exploration of the inherent flaws of a society that has put a price tag on altruism, something more than senseless slaughter spearheaded by manchilds and mass murderers. The L.O.V deserved to be something more than the flawed argument of some fanatical lack of worthiness and some vague notion that rebellion against a already broken system is a problem. It's stupid, The League of Villains had potential to be actually interesting, but it was made into anarchy for the sake of it never even attempting to offer a solution to a system broken for those already in power.
Yet somehow we have missed the biggest point of what a hero is. A hero is a person who does what they can to save people who are hurt, broken, or lost. Even when they are the 'villains' or more plainly the mentally ill and those rejected by society. Somehow we have forgotten or ignored all of the Wake the Deads, the For the Man Who Has Everythings, the Flash And Substances, and the Epilogues. All the stories that told us that sometimes the best thing to do is be there for people. Being a hero isn't about fighting. It's just about being there. For the people, all of the people. But also understanding that some people can't be helped. People like Baby Doll and Shigaraki, Dabi and All For One, people too far gone or too hurt to help. Toga and Twice just needed help they weren't given. It is what was born of the legacy of All Might, peace and complacency, a smile hiding everyone else's tears. Every single crime committed by Shigaraki and the L.O.V is the direct fault of All Might. Because he refused to see the people he was fighting as what they were. Evil is often relative because to an ant a boot is evil. Rarely in the world does true evil exist and often it is taught or held in those who believe themselves without betters or equals.

I have an issue with the "the giga cover is likely fujobait" because I can't help but think:
if it was truly fujobait, why now?
Why try to get their attention if MHA is now in the 100M club? The series now so popular, hori/jump doesn't need queer shippers to increase its popularity.
Why try to get fujos and queer fans, if it's already popular in that group? Wasn't it apparently shown that MHA is more popular with women and LGBTQ+ fans?
Why try to get that audience when hori had the chance to do that back in 2016-2018 when Kr//bk was the popular gay ship? Wasn't there an interview where someone pretty much asked hori if he's for kr//bk, but instead of playing along, hori made it about bkdk (the ship that no one took seriously at the time) and said he saw the hand hold more about bkdk angst. Kr//bk was a popular ship, it had bones making official art of them. The smash parody manga had moments of it. Two heroes was their movie [I believe hori didn't really help in that movie. However, notice how in the second movie, (he was a part of that one), focused on bkdk (again, the ship no one took seriously)]. Hori had the ability to use that ship as bait, but he seemed to be the only one out of everyone else to not go for it. Instead he kept pushing for the ship that was thought to be too toxic to even become a platonic ship.
If horikoshi did not want bkdk to seen as romantic, why isn't he stopping jump for implying it? You really can't say that he has no ability to, the guy went to bones and told them the ending. Now, notice how bones suddenly stopped making iz//ch moments and added a bkdk moment in the recap episodes (something that they would never do 2 seasons prior). The assistant (whom hori is friends with) is a loud speaker of dkbk lol. Hori follows him on twitter, there's no way that hori hasn't seen his dkbk art once. Same for katsuki's JP VA (who is also a friend of Hori).
Why try to bait the audience when the manga is ending?
Idk, maybe there's a chance he is actually queerbaiting and make iz//ch canon, but again, after everything?
After the togachako arc? He had made ochako confess her crush on midoriya, only for seconds later to not only brush it off as unimportant (unimportant in the sense of it was more of way to relate to toga and speak with her, it wasn't really used as a "canon izu//ocha" moment), she tells toga that she could have ochako's blood for the rest of her life (and we know that's toga's love language of returning/accepting her feelings) and she told toga that she had the cutest smile in the whole world. Like, didn't hori say that toga was made for ochako's character? I feel like it wouldn't make sense for hori to do all of this, then have ochako end up with midoriya, it would feel like a middle finger to toga tbh.
After chapters 285, 322, 362, 367, 403, and 404? The apology? The "you're the closest one to midoriya izuku, therefore I need to kill you in order to make him go crazy". The heart shaped black whip after seeing bakugou's dying body? The "their feelings became one" double spread? this bullet point could be spread to about 2-3 document pages, but I'm just going to summarize for this post lol. But overall, these chapters (and a few more), show me (imo) that it the "fujobait" claim isn't really strong to use against bkdk.
Again, maybe this is queerbait, because I know that there are times where other media/anime have done simliar and still had the MC in a heterosexual relationship, and leave everyone dumbfounded lol. Once again, all I say to this is "let's see what happens."
P.S. Isn't this the same author who said that he thought that naruto was going to end at 698 (the implied SNS ending) lol? Idk if it's true, that's just something I've heard.

I'm insanely curious about the 3k VP draft you mentioned in your tags, so if you'd like to expand on that, I'm all eyes š
Uuh hi where do I start? Well as I mentioned in the tags it's still a draft with no coherent thought whatsoever. But what I've tried to compose so far is related to this post in which I present the idea of Pete being a so called 'ma lai nuea' (I've also seen ąø«ąø”ąø²ą¹ąø„ą¹ą¹ąøąø·ą¹ąø transliterated as mha lha nuer) or 'hunting dog'. In order to understand the significanse of the metaphor one needs to apprehend the sociocultural aspects of muay thai which is one of the topics I'm planning to address (plus some thoughts on social support, training regimes etc).
In short, what I'm trying to argue is that the whole characterization of Pete is based on his pre-bodyguard career as a boxer (though the series gives us next to nothing about the topic) whereas the characterization of him being a hunting dog is character development projected by Kinn (which I promise is a juicy contradiction).
The other subject I'd loove to address is that while Pete is a hunting dog abandoned by the main family, he is at the same time a 'mad/rabid dog' or ąø«ąø”ąø²ąøą¹ąø² / ma ba (just look at the torture scene how Peteās eyes glare in the dark and how he almost growls when he reveals his teeth to Vegas). Pete is a rabid stray that Vegas tries to forcefully domesticate and conquer his owenership.
And here's the part where I throw the word 'castration' into the mix because that's basically what Vegas does by electrocuting Pete's balls. He castrates Pete in order to reduce his aggressiveness and to make him act like a good household pet.
Vegas too, is a mad dog (because the dude is batshit crazy) as verified by Pete:
The dog symbolism is everywhere in the latter episodes and I've fallen through the rabbit hole while trying to sew everything together.
Once I'm done you will never read the petplay fics with the same eyes again.
#kinnporsche#vegaspete#asks#my understanding of thai is minimal so if you notice any transliteration mistakes hit me with a comment

I've been watching Brooklyn Nine-Nine and yet these are still somehow also MHA prompts...
EraserMic are undercover at the nine-nine
What would the case they're on be? No clue, don't care, not the focal point lmao
They'd probably be told to act as if they are not married and they'd be like: 'no'. And Mic would be like: 'don't be homophobic' to the HPSC
Would Aizawa still use his sleeping bag?? Holt probably wouldn't let him unless he does it for like thirty minutes in the evidence room lmao
Holt and Aizawa. I don't need to say more.
Terry and Aizawa get along well and Terry has a theory that Aizawa and Mic have a kid or two together. Bc of how Aizawa relates to him and his good advice. Maybe he even tells stories about 1-A and if they ask why they've never seen them or why they have so many? They can just say that they are foster parents, have opened their home to many kids (which may not be true just not with 1-A), and are still in contact with some of them
Aizawa and Charles... I think he would remind Aizawa of Midnight but weirder like a more exotic flavor of Midnight lmao but he wouldn't hate him or anything I don't think. Charles would probably annoy him the most if you don't count Hitchcock and Scully
Speaking of Midnight and her reminding Aizawa of people, Gina definitely would. But she also kinda reminds him of his husband but like only if his gremlin hours were always, 24/7, all the time
And back to Hitchcock and Scully I think Aizawa would scare the shit out of them into actually doing their jobs lol
Jake would probably think Aizawa hates him but desperately wants his approval and thinks he is so cool and badass. There should be a whole chapter about it (maybe some small mentions of it beforehand). Aizawa would definitely become like a third (or fourthā does Kevin count?) work dad for Jake. I feel like their relationship would kinda be like Jake's relationship with Holt and Rosa mixed together
I have no clue about Amy and Aizawa... Would she be desperate for his approval bc he's kind of like Holt? Maybe he's like a lieutenant or something? I feel like she would remind him of Midoriya but also Iida, she's like a mixture of the two
Rosa and Aizawa would get along really well and his desk would be in front of her own. Imagine the two of them as partners, perps might talk just from them walking into the room together. They'd probably spill their whole life story out of fear (which would annoy them lol). I feel like she would be attracted to him at first until she learns he's gay and is like: 'oh ok'
Mic's desk would be in front of Charles', the two of them would probably get along like him and Jake except he isn't obsessed with him and Mic would probably get way more exasperated lol
JAKE AND MIC!!! Need I say more? No, I don't think so
I feel like Gina and Mic would get on like a house on fire. The two of them are both secretly smart but act like eccentric airheads or well they act like airheads but both are pretty eccentric lmao
I think Mic and Holt would get along like Gina and Holt. I feel like Holt would think that if Jake ever matured he'd be like Mic lmao
Mic and Amy... Mic and Amy. I think these two would actually get along pretty well. I think they would bond over books and languages but that's... all I got lmao
I think Rosa reminds Mic of Aizawa. They would probably work really well together and the first time Mic like loses his self-control and goes crazy nuts and probably violent she definitely respects him more afterwards lol
Idk if Mic would either act like a disappointed parent to Hitchcock and Scully or avoid them at all costs lmao
I think Terry and Mic would work well together, get along really well, and respect the hell out of each other. Mic wears a lot of long sleeves out of habit at first and maybe something gets on his jacket (probably bc of Hitchcock and/or Scully) so he takes it off. Everybody but mostly Terry (and Jake) are like: 'daaamn'.
Jake: You are jacked! Aizawa: ofc he is we workout together. Jake: you what?! Terry: *asks about their workout routine* Mic: *talks to him about it* Aizawa: we take down criminals ofc we workout. Jake: *scoff* you don't need muscles to take down criminals. Aizawa: yeah? How's that working out for you? *Flashback: Jake tries to tackle a criminal but he ends up just weirdly hugging him. The guy either is so shocked that he just stays there and Aizawa arrests him or if the guy tried to keep running with Jake still hugging him*
Mic has tattoo sleeves too that also shock everyone and Mic tells everyone that Aizawa went with him to get his first tattoo getting one with him so he wouldn't be as scared. And Aizawa glares at Mic betrayed while Mic coos over the story like the traitor he is. Now, the squad (mostly Jake) wants to know what it is. Jake also mentions that Holt has a tattoo and Aizawa almost gets them to focus on that but Gina foils his plans. Or she is like: 'I will allow you to use the Captain as a distraction but only if you show me your tattoo'.
Mic's alias is Michael Jackson and he's like: 'yeah ma loved him' and y'know maybe that's actually true. So, everyone still calls him Mic and he spells it that way. It drives Amy bonkers but maybe Holt actually, surprisingly agrees with him bc why spell the nickname like that if his real name isn't spelled that way??
Aizawa's alias is Shouta Jackson. Since no one knows his real name even if they do know he's Eraserhead. And bc Mic can't refer to him as anything other than Shou and Eraser lmao
I can't think of anything else but if I do I will add more bc I love this
I also had more ideas but I liked this so much that I forgot about my other ideas š
Jake is thirty-THREE in s1 of b99 but Aizawa is only thirty in s1 of MHA. Can you imagine Jake reminds Aizawa of his students and he becomes like another work dad for Jake but then... Aizawa learns his age and is like: 'actually you're older than me' or he never tells him bc he knows Jake would be like: 'well, I'm older so' and Aizawa would get that done look he gets. The deadpan face but his jaw is like dropped in disbeliefā y'know the one? Y'know what I'm talking about?
Does Captain Holt know they're undercover?? Maybe Gina knew the whole time and when asked all she says is this: 'Ik they weren't cops from day one. Heroes? For sure. It's a different flavor of authority, gurl'.
What would the squad's quirks be? I think Kevin would have an intelligence quirk. Maybe Terry has a super strength quirk? Maybe Amy is quirkless and that's another reason she wants to prove she isn't weak. Maybe Charles' quirk has to do with food or eating? Maybe Doug Judy can steal anything or something to do with stealing. Rosa? Jake? Holt? Hitchcock and Scully? Terry's twins? Nikolaj? Pimento (something wild that's for sure)? Damn maybe even Cheddar has a quirk lmao
Gina? (all ik is that she shouldn't have an intelligence quirk bc she acts dumber than she is so people are easier to manipulate as she's mentioned before)?
MHA's B99
Okay, okay, okay... I would love to see this idea!
Just the police side of things in MHA, maybe a little bit more crack like B99
So, Tsukauchi Naomasa is our starring lead (or is it the lead star?? whatever) with Tamakawa Sansa and Aizawa Shouta as the main supporting characters!!
Aizawa visits for cases, sometimes after hero patrols to do paperwork, sometimes to bring perps in, having coffee with Tsukauchiā etc.
You could have Sansa become a detective at some point!!! Like he takes the test, passes, and then we're all very proud of him?? I think so!!!
...Vigilante or freelance analyst consultant or police intern Midoriya Izuku??? Or any of the other lovely characters of MHA?? Like Shinsou? Kaminari?? Yaomomo where she learns more about the average person's life or those way less fortunate, like the homeless and or those discriminated against? Ooooā I like that idea, Mido's too lol
Hatsume having the police called on her for her explosions... Tsukauchi is so tired
This could be done as a one-shot series or a regular long chapter fic or one done like episodes... Whatever you want!
I mean imagine how many quirk mishaps they have to deal with. Like kids manifesting their quirks? Quirk accidents? Especially during high-stress situations like villain attacks? Villain attack in of themselves? Quirk accidents in the precinct? Quirk accidents in the fieldā cop or not?
There would probably be a need for OCs and you could use the B99 characters and change their names or have them be a taskforce that's on a really long case?? Pontiac Bandit works with Giran, buddies with Twice and Mr. Compress but wouldn't touch AFO with any size pole lmao????
The OCs could just be based on them or not all!
I don't have anymore but I'm sure I will soon! The more ideas will be under this lol

Reddit is a funny thing because the main subreddit is still largely in denial about how terrible the ending is. But other subreddit groups are making fun of it like crazy, some are at risk of becoming a Jujutsufolk or Lobotomy kaisen lol. One particular thread that I wanted to bring up that makes me laugh is how many people turned on Ochako, calling her a gold-digger and other unpleasant things. I don't think I've seen a hetero pairing crash and burn like IzuOcha has. Even if they did hook up in the sequel, its still a bad look, can't believe Horikoshi chickened out and made blank. The reception has gotten so bad people have been shipping IzuMei again, so that feels like a win of sorts lol
I have done some research when it comes to the MHA Reddit and what people think (no it wasn't extensive research I couldn't be bothered tbh) but most subreddits deem the ending as rushed and bad. They even go into explaining how unrealistic it is into a deeper level.
From the little browsing I have done this seems to come from r/myheroacademia and r/characterrant. However, I also saw subreddits that said that izuku ending up quirkless is perfect for his hero journey and that the chapter being a fake out was also good.
I will take your word for it anon since I didn't actually dive deep enough into the depths of Reddit to find ochako bashing but said ochako bashing is incredibly unrealistic and shouldn't be there considering the whole pairing of izuocha never became canon and a huge part of ochakos development was to develop out of the crush she had for izuku and her aspirations to be exactly like izuku (I still don't like the whole crush fiasco but meh). Also, ochako's parents probably had a lot of work cut out for them after the war making them financially stable and ochako has become a popular hero all on her own so that would earn her a lot of money without izuku being involved. Heck I think People seem to forget that izuku isn't rich at all he seemingly just comes from an average income family.
Also, to me it was evidently clear that izuocha wouldn't become canon since act 2 and act 3 like I said were all about ochako getting over izuku and her aspirations of becoming exactly like him. I have seen people argue that they're canon but if they are then that's just a badly written ship.
Overall I ship izumei (even though I know it wasn't gonna be canon) but even though it's cool the ship is gaining some popularity, I do hate the fact that people are using it as a type of cope because of how badly butchered izuocha was to them.
We don't talk about the horrors of Jujutsufolk and lobotomy kaisen.

with new years coming I was thinking a lot about what changed my 2023 so much - I really had one of the best years of my life.
and while I am trying not to sound like a crazy person I need to say this: bakudeku was The Thing that made my year so good.
OF COURSE my friends and family were a very special part of my year but idk??? I feel like I have never had that deep of a connection with something like I created with izuku and katsuki.
the first time I watched boku no hero I was like 17? (and it was in 2017 so I wasn't a big fan of bakudeku) and eventually I stopped watching.
in may of this year I watched some tiktok edit about bkdk with the apology scene and everything and I was intrigued - wtf had happened in 6 years??? what had chaged????
so I read the manga and watched the anime and I was OBSESSED.
i started following (on twitter) others that shipped them but i am used to speaking in my native language there and bkdk is not a very common ship in my countrys mha fandom so i was never able to speak much about them with other delusional bkdk fans.
either way, I started reading fanfiction (I think I had not read a fanfic for 10 years at this point) and they made me so so so so happy.
I spend the whole year giggling and kicking my feet bc of 2 gay boys and IT SEEMS SO SILLY but, after all, humanity is about being silly and loving and appreciating.
I dont think anyone is going to actually read this but if you did I hope you feel the same about something. I hope you love and appreciate something silly. I hope your hiperfixation becomes part of you! I hope your friends remember of you everytime they look at something that you love.
this is my love letter for this silly little gay men. I love them so much.

I think that the LoV deserves to win in the Final War because if they win, they will be able to create a world for themselves. The Heroes never meant to deserve to win at all considering the fact that most of them are morally corrupted (like the HPSC) and they are more interesting when they lose all the time.
If Spinner were able to win against Shoji, that would prove that his point will be always right and he would be able to save Shigaraki. If Toya succeeded, it would be the punishment that Endeavor deserves for abandoning his eldest son. If Toga succeeded, she would be able to do anything she wants. If Tomura Shigaraki wins against Deku and destroys Deku along with the entire Hero Society, Tomura Shigaraki would be able to have peace with his friends.
If I may be allowed the opportunity to rant: I'm sure some will say this is crazy at this juncture of the story but honestly? I get where you're coming from. Or at least 90% of it.
I mean for starters, I sympathize with the League far more than the heroes (no surprise from a villain fan). I think theyāve earned the happy endings they want after how hard theyāve struggled against the towering odds theyāve faced, an area which I feel they far surpass the heroes. I want them to win, I want them to prove the strength of their bonds, all that fun stuff for them.
And just logically, if you look at the worlds both sides are trying to makeā¦the villain's world kinda seems better? Because after all, isnāt the plan to just take the current world, tear it down, and rebuild it without a whole bunch of its glaring flaws? The easy world Toga wants where kids like her donāt fear for their lives. Where corrupt heroes like Endeavor and bigots like the CRC arenāt left to their crimes. In a warped way, theyāre almost like young All Might.
Compare that to the status quo the heroes want back, the very one that brought us here, which I donāt see much reason to root for. I mean even if you say ābut all the people whoāve diedā; first off, I swear mha civilians frequently act like horror movie victims so I can only care so much for them. But if I did, they want back the very status quo that led to all that death in the first place soā¦it feels like itāll just lead back here again. A return of the status quo? This chaos is part of the status quo by now, you sure you want it back?
(Granted this is all hampered a little bit by Shigarakiās sudden decision to sink the country and really where did that come from? Did Tomura just say that to appear more inhuman? Did Hori make him say that to appear more threatening? Because that kind of interferes with a lot of the Leagueās goals yāknow. Sure he doesnāt want to give the status quo loving heroes a chance to rebuild what he destroyed, but society still needs replacing as part of the plan. The PLF are still supposed to rebuild according to their desires. I may make a post about just this plot point soon.)
Not to mention that I totally get what you mean about the heroes not narratively earning a permanent win here. Not only have they as a whole not really developed and surpassed their old flaws, but just the fact that theyāve been doing their own war crimes in this arc (when youāre really supposed to stick to your morals and beat villains by the book against make-the-world-better-by-extreme-measures-type villains) really makes me think they just don't deserve the win because they kind of canāt be trusted going forward. I mean the final arc's supposed to show where everyone is ending up; how they'll be in the future. And the impression being left is that the heroes, even the kids to enough of an extent to worry, have shown the same corruption we know the HPSC for.
About the only thing I disagree with out on is that I donāt want Deku specifically to die. He can be, to put bluntly, a self-righteous moron about things he doesn't understand at times, and can be a bit of an AM clone a lot of the rest of the time; but I'd hardly wish his death for just that. Especially since it seems any hope for the heroes side not repeating their mistakes rests on him pulling his head out of his arse and getting a clue on how to be better than All Might. Not that I think that'll happen anytime soon, but that's why I keep insistently hoping for an MHA part 2.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
(Sorry I took so long with this. Mix of being busy with real life and being in a writing funk. Which is why this may not be my finest post either. Hope you understand.)
day 6 of being unhinged about fictional 2d men:
i definitely wouldn't call hawks's phone usage symbolic, but i would call it *organic* in how it reflects or emphasizes each section of his character arc!
when he's being used as a tool while acting as double-agent, the phone is one of the vehicles through which he wears his masks, receives orders from either side, and honestly i'd imagine it's a source of stress considering the situation he's in. his fans assume he'd use a phone for what most average people would--for actual relationships and genuine communication, obviously--and ask if he's talking to a girlfriend or something while he's talking to dabi. and needless to say, honest relationships and communication are very much not the name of the game at this time for him, lol. at the end of the day, it's about allowing himself to be used in the ways he deems necessary for achieving the best outcome. his character is nothing but performance after performance from his very introduction, a double-agent from the start, constantly scrutinized, and his phone usage reflects that.
(tangent: appropriately, as a constant peformer, all of his core relationships with other characters initially hinge on some tension surrounding belief---tokoyami believes in him but is also frustrated to know he's being used/that there's some disingenuousness to their relationship at first; twice believes in hawks wholeheartedly, and ultimately too much; dabi never believed in hawks at all; and endeavor is frequently left to question hawks's performance, but ultimately believes in him with a great deal of faith.)
the toxicity bubbling underneath hero society is represented in a multifaceted way through endeavor's, the commission's, and hawks's own wrongdoings, which all intersect and come to a head with dabi burning him. in the aftermath, hawks carries the consequences of herodom directly on his body, and his phone emphasizes the severe state he's in, filling in for his voice at a time when his voice has been literally taken away. this is a low point where a lot of characters grapple with betrayal, guilt, and judgment--and it's also a time of resilience.
his phone is a practical thing after the raid, strictly business for the most part--typical of a side-character in a shonen conveying information to the audience--while he is also working hard to pick up some of the pieces of what's been broken.
he avoids using his phone to reciprocate when tokoyami keeps trying to reach him. a relationship with tokoyami that isn't at arms-length is a commitment to being more open and vulnerable to someone who looks up to hawks rather than the other way around, and based on thought patterns and dialogue during the final war, it seems hawks seriously struggles with the idea that he's someone worth looking up to.
at midoriya's retrieval, there's a bit of standing to the side and remarking "wow look at what those crazy kids are doing", again Ć” la shonen side character, but also a moment that has hawks distantly interacting with a model of what emotional vulnerability and intimacy looks like. him bearing witness to 1-a getting midoriya back ends up being critical to his understanding of one for all after uraraka's speech, and the whole ofa-connecting-peoples'-hearts-thing is a pretty transparent vehicle for one of mha's main ideas: that reaching out to others, even when hard, is what saves them and makes the world a better place. suddenly, hawks's original goals of saving people and creating a peaceful world become intertwined with being emotionally open to others (while his work as a hero up until this point, alongside his trauma, has had him doing the very opposite).
and *finally* as of 430 he's using the phone more like how a person normally would--for personal communication and relationships (and some job stuff still, but even so). with endeavor's retirement, there is no more pretense/obligation to the betterment of society to fall back on as to why he reaches out. enji is no longer the number 1 whom so many rely on, and when hawks offers him his support, it can serve no other purpose than simply being something for their personal gratification. hawks isn't propping enji up as a powerful public figure who needs to succeed, but talks to him because that's what hawks genuinely wants to do. and considering that enji has had no insight into hawks's lil thought bubbles prior, this is the first real moment that he can have direct confirmation of that fact. and with that, hawks did it! he talked to a friend! it's a start āŗļøššššš
i see all this is more serendipitous than super 100% deliberate, but when one writes a character arc that actually ends up going somewhere, then that character's interactions with even everyday objects will naturally come to parallel wherever they're at in their arc.
My thoughts on the mashle stage play becuz I'm sad I didn't record the whole thing
Only thing I didn't record but I did watch once was the Abel vs Mash part so I think I'm okay enough.
So, overall it was fun. Reminds me of how much fun I had while watching one of the mha stage plays (think the 3rd).
I love the details they added in this medium:
1. Mash NEVER sings showing just how unmagic he is (really looking forward to what the Divine Visionaries will sound like) it reminded me of Shrek and why the Shrek musical felt weird when I watched it. Like everybody sings and dancesāexcept for Mash which really shows just how out of place he is. It makes you focus on the other characters too ngl.
2. Mash's muscles wearing creampuffs for headgear AND having nametags was just *chef's kiss*. I found it extra funny and they really help emphasise the absurdity of Mash's physical powers AND have their own personalities? They're like Mash's minionsāthe Duello moment where they score a bunch of goalsāiconic.
3. Just the stagehands/prop ppl in general working with the projector to make the magicāmagic itself in reality was extra cool. Like Abyss' Secondth Spell set up was kinda wild as if his own magic wasn't with the people waving around arrow flags. Using fabric for Wirth's Mud stuff. HECK THEY ONLY HAD 3 PARTISAN PROPS AND STILL MADE IT LOOK COOL.
Alright, so any highlights?
Let me go in order if I can.
The first door prop was wild. I think they used magnets in order to make it work. Pls use it againnnn in the next stage play.
The way Lemon and Love are the only two who use the rewind function is really funny, becuz Lemon's is for her introduction solo song and also semi-glosses over what happened during the entrance exam just like the rest of it was in song while also establishing her delulu love for Mash, honestly she's so real for it. Meanwhile, Love's isn't a musical number and is just the one where she explains how they got duped a coin. The use of practical magic tricks is really cool (I think they used one for the coin itself, those flipping blinds things to make the illusion of a diff object yk.)
The Magia Lupus choir-y ensemble songs were prolly one of my favourites, although I think it's just becuz I really liked Love Cute's presence as a whole since they only focused on Love, Wirth, Abyss and Abel as like the lead singers and Shuen is nowhere in sight? (I forgot if he was Magia Lupus in the first place) alongside the Finn-Lemon duet about like "ganbare Mash" (istg they made FinnMash so much more possible with this one song) and they're like definitely bestie coded 100%.
Anything with Mash's muscles is super funny too.
Lance's solos are emo, Dot had such a main character entrance but I dunno how to feel about the fact he doesn't tuck in his shirt (for context: the tea and the grades) but the fact I can't tell when his actor changes his fucking wig for the Ira Kreuz reveal is crazy.
RAYNE'S ENTRANCE GUYS. Bro has like my favourite musical solo entrance out of all of them. AND HE ALSO DANCES. HE FUCKING DANCES GUYS. KPOP IDOL RAYNE IS SO CLOSE TO BEING REALITY GUYS. They triple killed me in less than 10 minutes for that one.
Also the way they manage to put on the puppet masks without ruining the pacing makes me lose my mind becuz like... HOW???
I forgot to mention Wahlberg but honestly, him and Regro weren't my favourite favourite partsāI think it's becuz they have a lot of exposition dumps and more of a comedy out of the plot element since him and the cop interact with the audience quite a bitāoh but the acting that Regro does to make it look like he's squeezing from the neck makes you as the audience feel and believe his pain (when tehre isn't any). Like it was convincing. Plus they were funny during the entrance exam, they were dancing too.
Also Wahlberg pulled off the flash-paper thing. It was cool. I'm hoping for the thirds magic they make it look really cool in the next stage play.
The best part I looked forward too... was the Shu Cream Funk dance the main 5 did. They also made the others do it on the 2nd and 3rd time. Including Rayne. I recorded this in low-res. It was great.
Overall, highly entertaining. I think considering how they had to cut down 4 hours down to 2 hours with song, choreo (fight and dance numbers) they were pretty successful. I just think as someone who cannot understand japanese that the first 20 minutes was really REAAALLLY plot dump exposition a bit like the funny stuff from Ep 2 and Ep 3 with the entrance exam doesn't exist.
But they made up for it enough.
There's a lot that I skipped like the bullying thing and Bamboo guy. I don't remember his name but that's kinda covered with the rest. I'm really wondering how they're gonna pull off the next arc... I forgot who they cast...
I finally got around to watching Arcaneās final part and like all parts itās so beautiful. It really is. But Arcane kinda has the same problem with MHA for me as in the ending is actually pretty satisfying but how we get there could have been so much better.
Donāt get me wrong MHAās problems were seasons in the making. Arcane actually suffers from the opposite problem there just wasnāt enough time. Like I donāt know why they felt Arcane should be a 2 season show I can only hope it wasnāt a studio pulling the strings (I want to say Netflix would never but yes they would no other company so against the idea of success like them)
But yeah not that Arcane couldnāt have been a 2 season show the 1st season wraps up its main conflicts pretty nicely honestly if not for the cliffhanger and some other lingering plot lines it could have been a good stand alone. But there was just soooooo much happening in season 2. With season one at the core of the story no matter what craziness happened at its core it was about the tragedy of 2 sisters and that was its grounding piece. Season 2 just had nothing like that. It could have been Jayce and Viktor with how thatās kind of the main conflict? This season and given the resolution but Jayce is barely in the thing š. They have one moment together and then donāt really interact again until the final part. I just needed more honestly form every relationship.
The only relationship I felt was kind of properly developed was Isha and Jinx (even tho they kind of dropped the ball a bit after she died) but like you actually kind of see that relationship grow. I wish we got more of heiminger and ekkoās new proffesor student relationship (u wish we got more of ekko period honestly) ekko has a way of barely being in the season and then pulling up at the most important moment for a huge blow out in the final part. I just think it would have made Heimidingerās (I am butchering this name forgive me) sacrifice for ekko more meaniful (not that I donāt think he wouldnāt have literlaly done that for anyone but it would have been nice to see that relationship develop in particular them getting lost in time together and all)
And the getting lost in the multiverse/time thing was really good I really liked it. It needed to be more than 1 episode. I wish we could have really sat with it. The horrors Jayce was experiencing and this new reality that ekko is faced with (like donāt get me wrong for one episode they did a lot and itās so beautiful it would have just hit harder if it was longer)
Donāt even get me started on Mel and the black rose I still do not understand what that was all about. That definetly needed a whole season dedicated to just that and not (I hate to use the word shoved) but shoved in as a C plot to Viktorās cult.
For a season they (hopefully) knew going in that this would be their last they were trying to accomplish so much in just 9 episodes like yes they are about an hour each but they are still just 9 episodes. Honestly we donāt even spend enough time with maddy to care about her betrayal. I felt more about Ambessaās right handās death because at least heās kind of been a steady presence through out the season. I donāt know what was going on with Loris. I though he would have more to do they kept giving him little moments where it felt like he knew more than he was letting on but I guess not? He really was just some guy?ā¦..well okay.
I love the Vander reunion I love it so much the fight was epic the resolution was epic god the fucking memory sequence with the water color kill me now. But again I wish we had more time we just got him back and now we are losing him again drag that shit out really make it hurt twist the knife deeper give us a couple episodes let us truly believe that everything might be okay and then throw that shit in our face that would have hit so much harder. (Well thatās just me though)
Thereās was so much happening this season. It all felt like build up it felt like build up till literlaly the last 30 minutes of the show. It just felt like there was no proper middle the show just kept building and building and then tried to cram ever resolution in the last 2 hours. (I know they didnāt fully reveal the what the Black Rose drama was because of this Noxian show they are planning but I donāt know I just didnāt like how they left things š Mel was barely in the season and then sheās back and thereās so much left unsaid and ššš)
I might be in the minority but I just really didnāt know what to make of Jinxās arc. Like I can see the parallels and the beauty of it but at the same time it just didnāt click for me. I know sheās probably not dead like Iām not even going to pretend she is. But yeah. Same with Vi honestly. Vi felt so passive this season shes just kind of being led around.
I just think the pain problem this season was that there was no central story. There was no grounding piece that the story all revolves around. And I hate to be an advocate of taking stories centered around women and focusing on the men there but Giving how it ended (and honestly Iām not mad at it) and just the whole hectech being at the center of it all this season, it should have been Jayce and Viktor their relationship should have taken center stage they should have been this seasons Powder/Jinx and Vi the parallels are literally already there. One being consumed by everything they thought they wanted but not like this and the other still after everything trying desperately to reach them (mostly through a lot of violence) they even have the falling out like Vi and Powder did at the end of the first part. But their relationship just wasnāt explored enough for me to really say it was the center of the season. It would also flow well with the general established conflict Vander and Silco mirroring Jinx and Vi mirroring Jayce and Viktor (I personally donāt ship them nor do I think of them as overtly sibling coded I can just see the parallels it is not my fault the other characters are either siblings or heavily sibling coded š but donāt come for me)
Honestly the most developed relationship this season was Cait and Jinx and that mirror they hold up to each other as blue haired girlies manipulated by desperation grief and power. And I enjoyed that. Caitlyn in general got a lot of good screen time this season that I love taht for her.
I donāt want to harp on about the negative because there was so much that I loved about arcane it is such a beautiful story and I know the story isnāt technically finished atleast I donāt think so and maybe mine and everybodyās expectations where impossible to live up to. But I do still genuinely think it is one of the best pieces of television out there and all in all it was a truly amazing season of television that we were so lucky to experience.
Also the music was just straight banger after banger. Like Whoever curated that playlist? You need a raise like asap.
#I really like season 2 I just know it could have been so much better if it wasnāt the final season#but onwards and upwards I guess#I feel like the reason they didnāt overtly center Jayce and Viktorās relationship is because of the optics of taking a show popularized#as the story of these two tragic women and giving that focus to men#which honestly fair#but I think it could have worked#honestly also just not a fan of the last jinx look yes I understand the significance of it#yes I know they were setting it up with how often her hair got pulled#but yes I still didnt like the fact that cut her hair the twin braids where just so iconic to me I loved them šš#I loved the way they moved when she fought#but yes I do understand that the long hair is actually kind of a phyical manifestation of the ways in which her childhood trauma haunts her#but still š#ambessa this season? no notes woman had one goal and she put in the work#arcane#arcane season 2#league of legends#arcane league of legends#vi#jinx#powder#jinx arcane#vi arcane#mel medarda#jayce talis#viktor arcane#jayvik#jayce x viktor#arcane spoilers#arcane meta#arcane reaction
Hello. Okay, so I'm going to start this off with 'this might be an crazy thing to ask'.
I just saw your post from January about Nana Shimura, and I feel like I'm insane.
I'm legitimately not trying to be belligerent here, but can you please explain to me, in your opinion, why you think that it is Nana's fault for anything that has happened in relation to her? I'm just trying to understand, because I don't see how anything could necessarily be her fault solely. Specifically when talking about the 'creation' of Tomura.
If AFO had wanted to get his hands on someone from that bloodline, if only to be a bastard or whether it was for an actual reason, he would have done it regardless of what Nana's choices would have been.
And I can't help but notice the fact that all of this skips an entire generation. Everyone is so quick to blame Nana for doing what humans do, I.E. having a husband and a child, and I feel I'm not really qualified to speak on that front because I never have wanted children and I don't foresee that changing at this ripe old age I'm at, so I'm not even going to go into whether or not I think it was wrong of her to have a family.
I just find it very interesting that people are blaming Nana for something that happened literal years after her own physical death. Things that happened at the hands of her own son. Things that would have never happened had it not been for her son, that she had no part in.
It's just that the way I see it, that man had years upon years to come to terms with what his mother had done in order to protect him, but in the end he failed anyway. Whether he knew it or not he failed more than his own mother did. He failed and he gave his fucking own child over to this horrible person, and he couldn't have been completely ignorant of that, let's be honest. Whether or not what she did was the right choice, Nana gave him up for a reason, and the fact that he couldbut possibly put himself in his mother's shoes, after how many years? Is more telling of him than it is of her.
Even if what Nana did wasn't the right choice, then what WAS the right choice? How was there a wrong or a right choice when you could never possibly predict the outcomes of whatever you chose to do? In my opinion, people are trying to pin everything on Nana when all she was doing was doing the best she could with what she was given, and I think that's unfair and stupid.
I haven't been following you for long, but I've seen your posts for quite a while, so I actually do respect your opinion, which is why I am asking you.
I really don't like the way Horikoshi writes women as a whole in this particular story, and I don't know if that's a track record of his or if this is his only work or whatever, I don't really pay attention to that sort of thing. And that's a whole other post for another time. But I just find it really weird that everyone seems to be coming after Nana while simultaneously defending her son, when her own son is the one who is committing these atrocities long after she is dead?I find it very weird indeed.
Sorry for the long post, I have far too many feelings about MHA.
First of all, sorry for taking so long to answer and thank you for taking the time to write this ask š
Nana Shimura is one of my favorite bnha female characters because of how complex and flawed she is!!!
Here's the short answer:
Regardless of the actions of the people around her, Nana Shimura had a responsibility with her son as a mother and with the world as a hero.
We all have to make decisions without knowing the outcomes. That's life. It doesn't absolve us from the consequences of our actions. It also doesn't mean we are evil, but simply human. It is in our nature to make mistakes and make bad decisions sometimes.
It seems extremely harsh to judge a woman for doing her best against an enemy that was so much stronger than her, but that's the whole point of writing a character like Nana. There are no easy answers.
What was the correct thing to do instead of abandoning Kotaro? How could she have won against AFO? How could one (1) woman do both and do it well?
Nana isn't responsible for what Kotaro did so many years after she left him, but she did leave him. She had a son and then left him because she needed to be a hero. We don't know the exact circumstances of how she had Kotaro, but many fans ask why she had him if she knew her hero job would put him at such risk. Or why she chose to be a hero over being his mother.
Logically, we know it was to save the world. It's just that her choice isn't black and white. She caused a lot of pain in doing what she did, even if she contributed to a lot of joy.
AFO defeating her was inevitable. Like her OFA predecessors, they were alone on their journey. See, it took Deku an army to fight AFO and his influence.
There's also the fact that Nana took Toshinori in after she left Kotaro. Of course she only did it because the kid meant to sacrifice himself for the cause just like her, but it doesn't erase the parallel between Toshinori and Kotaro. One got to enjoy her company until she died because he had the right conditions to be her heir while the other lost her forever because she loved him.
Sadly, her love didn't save Kotaro and didn't make All Might's life easier.
Any person with responsibilities is a person with failures. That rings true for every single bnha hero and villain.
The way I see it, people either have a reason to hate her or not.
Some dislike her 'cause she left Kotaro. Some are unreadable in their judgment and hate her just because she is a woman. Some just dislike her general writing or don't enjoy her type of character.
At the end of the day, Nana Shimura is still a tremendous female character. She inspired All Might himself (he who is hailed as the best hero of all times). She faced AFO alone and she died mocking him with a smile. She sacrificed her happiness and all the things dear to her in order to save the world. Nana passed down OFA and kept hope alive in a time full of violence and chaos. She is one of the best female pro-heroes to have existed and the only female OFA user. He was freaking jacked with muscle because her quirk was float.
Her flaws depict her greatness and the weight on her shoulders. Nana Shimura, everyone.
