Farewell to Magia Record...

Woah... I've been super out of the loop, so only just found out today that Magia Record is ending service and there's a new PMMM game on the horizon!

Of course, I haven't played MagiReco in... honestly years, at this point. My interest waned, other fandoms beckoned, and the size of the game was eating up a huge amount of memory on my phone. So I uninstalled it.

But way back when it first began, I was following all the pre-release info and I'm pretty sure I started within the first week of the JP version going live. It's strange to think back to those early days, when no one knew what to expect! I still remember plugging away at translating Madoka's character story out of sheer curiosity and eagerness for what new lore the game had to offer.

That time when I started playing was coincidentally right when I started a new job, and because of those early translations I posted, Magia Record became the first fandom where I started seriously posting my own content to tumblr too. It was first fandom where I actually talked to people and made friends here!

So to hear that it's finally shutting down... it's an oddly nostalgic and bittersweet feeling. The Magia Record chapter of my life ended a while ago, and I made peace with that. With the game fully gone, though, it will be like wandering past an old address I used to live at and seeing the new owners tore down the previous building and put up something unrecognizable.

Time moves inexorably onward, and the ephemeral nature of mobile games makes them all the more susceptible to it.

I might try re-downloading the MagiReco app, just so I can see it one last time to say goodbye. Depending on how my creaky ancient phone holds up, maybe I can get that transfer code and archive app working.

But even if I do get that transfer code, I don't know if I'll play Magia Exedra. As much as I feel nostalgic for the good times, I also remember my disappointments with MagiReco. I'm a lot more cynical now about the potential for ongoing service games to tell satisfying stories - heck, one major reason I got into FFXIV was because I heard it had a good conclusion where you could stop playing if you so chose.

So no, I'm not really interested in getting in on the ground floor of a brand new game these days. I'll wait and see how it turns out first.

Time to scream into the void about the shambling corpse of a game I used to play in middle school.

Before I became a degenerate F/GO player, I used to be a degenerate King's Raid player. I never got too far into the story--I kinda stopped halfway through Elidora Forest--but I played daily and had a blast. At some point I uninstalled the game because it almost broke my phone, and that old account never got linked and was lost to history. But I would play on-and-off in the years after with a new account.

Then Vespa did their Thing(TM) and the game died. Or so I thought. I remembered my old flame a few days ago and decided to check in on it, And you know what I found?

The servers are still up.

The servers are still up, and my account is still there. Naturally, I walked around, and nothing's changed. The NPCs are still doing their thing, the daily dungeons are still cycling through as normal, the overworld is still accessible, just like I remember.

Except the chat is silent, and the in-app stores haven't updated in I don't know how long. It's a ghost town. It's frozen in time, and it's uncomfortable.

I know there's other people there--I try to enter chat rooms and get told that they're full--but I don't really. Maybe they're bots. Besides, are people really still playing this? Who stuck around? How do they handle the fact that they're the last holdouts? Does it make them uncomfortable? It makes me uncomfortable.

It's just so weird being here after the company died, and I am both amazed and unsettled by how normal everything still is.

The song had finished, Drusilla walked to the bar counter and sat on the stool. There were a couple sitting on the stools.

“Nice moves you got there.” said a woman with a short, blond bob hairstyle, wearing a pink crop top, black leather skirt, black heeled sandals, and accessory with a ruby teardrop necklace.

“Thanks.” grinned Drusilla.

A handsome man wearing metallic silver button down shirt and black leather pants, black shoes and accessory with Rolex. He was holding his girlfriend’s waist.

“So, you seem to have a lot of fun, huh? Care for a drink? I’m Brittney. And this is my boyfriend, David.” said Brittney.

“Hey.” said David.

“Hi. I’m Drusilla. You two have a very good couple. When do you guys meet?” Drusilla asked.

“Oh, we just met on Tinder.” said Brittney.

“Tinder? Heh, I’m sorry, what exactly is Tinder? I don’t know what that is.” said Drusilla, she had no idea what Tinder is.

“It’s a dating app. Where you meet many people, and go on a date with that person." David finished explaining.

“That’s right, when you see the picture below these icons. Tap the heart button if you like them and tap the cross button if you don’t like them. Or you can swipe the screen left and right.” said Brittney.

“Oh, I see. Does it work? Did you talk to each other on Tinder?” Asked Drusilla.

“Oh, yeah, I’m the one who tapped the heart button and me and David were matched, and we did our conversations. We started on a date a while ago.” said Brittney.

“Wow, Tinder sure does work.” said Drusilla.

“Of course it does. You can try Tinder, it’s a smart technology.” said David.

“Oh, I don’t know. I’m not just that type of girl.” said Drusilla.

“C’mon, don’t be shy. I’m sure those guys got hot on you.” said Brittney.

Drusilla furiously blushed, “Hey, come on! I told you I’m not that kind of girl who is looking for a date. I mean, why do you want me to try Tinder?” she asked.

“Because I know you’re single and you will install this app on your phone.” said Brittney.

Drusilla sighed, “Alright, fine, I’ll try it. If it doesn’t work, I’ll uninstall it.” She picked out her iPhone X from her purse and she installed the Tinder app and created her new account.

After she finished it, the bartender gave them drinks. Drusilla drank raven cocktail. Brittney and David drank maple cocktails.

Brittney and David said goodbye to Drusilla and exited the bar. It was dark outside. The night was still young as Drusilla made her way towards her Lamborghini. She entered her Lamborghini and closed the door. She let out a sigh. She was about to leave till she started to have a vision of Brittney and David being attacked by a group of vampires. She had to get over there quickly.

Brittney and David were walking down the empty street, they were a bit buzzed from drinking and giggling. They couldn't stop kissing each other as they weren't paying attention to their surroundings. Five of these people smirked at the couple.

"Well, well, well. Look who wandered into our turf. The little lovebirds seem that tonight is our lucky night." The leader said as he circled the couple.

“Hey, who the hell are you? What do you guys want?” demanded David, he was defending his girlfriend.

"Awe, look at the little pup trying to defend his princess. How adorable.” said a female now licking her lips.

"Come on, sis. You know the young ones are never good." Said the male twin.

"Please leave us alone, or else I’ll call the police if you get in trouble. Now fuck off!” yelled Brittney.

"The little lamb thinks she can threaten us. That’s so cute. I wonder what she tasted like." Another male entered with a slight British accent.

"Okay, it's time to feast, ladies and gentlemen." The leader said to them and they started to transform. Their eyes changed to yellow, their face started to morph into the vampiric visages. And their teeth turned into the sharp fangs like knives.

"What the actual fuck?!” screamed David.

Brittney screamed as she started to hide behind her boyfriend.

“Well, let's see who wants to be eaten first?" The leader grinned evilly.

"How about my fist!?" David shouted and threw his fist at the leader.

"Welp, it seems we got a volunteer." The leader said and caught David's fists and snapped it backwards.

David let out a loud scream in agony as he walked backwards crying looking at his girlfriend.

"Run, Brittney!" David shouted and slowly tried to ignore the pain.

Brittany was going to run away until she bumped into a vampire.

“Where do you think you’re going?” the muscular vampire smirked evilly.

He grabbed her head and slammed her head on the brick wall. She fell over with her forehead bleeding as the blood dripped on to the floor. The male licked the blood off the pavement and smirked.

His mouth wide open and had his fangs inches away from her neck. The vampire felt his head being kicked away from Brittney’s neck.

"Okay, assholes, back away from them." demand Drusilla, stancing in fighting style.

“Who the hell are you?” asked the muscular vampire.

"Your worst nightmare." Drusilla replied normally and she started attacking the muscular vampire.

The muscular vampire tried to punch her, she dodged his fist. She struck her knee to his rib, swiftly kicked to his face as he stumbled backward and crashed the trash cans.

“Holy shit!” shocked the young male vampire.

“That chick knows how to fight!” said the female vampire.

“I’ve heard of her before. She’s a vampire with a soul.” said the leader.

“A soul? Heh, so the vampire has gone good? What a joke." The female vampire said as she walked toward her.

“I’ll make her one on one cuz this isn’t going to be a catfight."

She struck a punch to her face, but she dodged her blow. Drusilla tried to kick her to the head, but she defended her with her arm, and she swirled a kick below and made Dru fall.

“C’mon! Is that all you got?” she taunted.

Dru got up and rolled her shoulder and smiled.

“Not on your life.” Dru replied and she transformed her vampiric face and charged at her. Dru clawed her cheek as the black haired vampire shrieked painfully. Dru smirked and grabbed her and threw her against the wall.

Drusilla sank her fangs to her neck and drank her blood as the vampire exploded to a dust.

“Jill!” the twin vampire cried to his twin sister.

Drusilla turned to the rest of the vampires.

“You bitch! You killed my sister!” yelled the twin and charged at Dru. Dru calmly grabbed a broken plank from the trash and staked him to the heart as the vampire exploded to a dust.

“I got her, boss. I’ll handle this bitch.” said the long haired vampire as he charged at her.

He kicked her to the gut as she held her belly painfully, then she felt another strike to her face and bled a little.

“Get ‘er, Alex!” shouted the muscular vampire.

Alex was grinning madly as he was about to finish her. Dru could not lose, not like this. Just remember when Blade taught her how to fight.

Dru reached something from her holster leg, she picked out EDTA and threw a syringe to his chest as the long haired vampire yelled in pain. His body began to swell up enormously and exploded causing the blood splattered on the wall and on the ground.

“What the fuck was that!?” shocked the leader vampire.

“Why don’t you come here and start doing yourself?” asked Drusilla.

“I’ll get her, boss. She’s mine!!” the muscular vampire yelled and charged at her. Drusilla took out a glaive and released the button to reveal the twin blade and threw at the muscular vampire by cutting through his throat, separated from his body and dusted. The glaive returned to Drusilla’s grasp.

The leader growled angrily. “Well, just look at you. You may be a vampire, but I don’t have a soul. I’m the most evil vampire in the world and I shall perish you for killing my comrades. And so, who taught you how to fight, huh?” he asked.

Drusilla smirked, “If you wonder who taught me, I was trained by the daywalker, Blade.”

“Who??”

Then Drusilla attacked the leader, but he blocked her blows just in the knick of time, the leader jabbed to her face but she dodged to the right and roundhouse kicked to his ribs caused him to be sent sailing into the wall.

“You’re gonna pay for this!” enraged the leader charged at her.

He tried to punch her but she dodged every strike and then she brought her knee up into his stomach and hit him on his back with her elbow. Drusilla withdrew a silver stake and stabbed him in the back causing the dust exploded.

Drusilla sighed that the threat was over. Brittney slowly walked toward Drusilla.

“Hey, are you okay?” she asked, Drusilla turned around to see Brittney’s cut on her forehead leaking blood down to her eye. The sound of blood pulsating that Drusilla could feel the hunger through her. She resisted and backed away from Brittney.

“Get away from me.” said Drusilla. Brittney hesitated.

Part 1 - Beat of my heart

Chris Evans x Anastasia Hofmann (25 year old actress and mother of 5 year old Nathalie)

Warnings: whole lotta fluff and language

"Nathi, beany, come on you've gotta stay at the kindergarden. Mommy will pick you up at evening. Okay?" you smooched your little bean goodby. That's how you called your five year old daughter Nathalie. Every morning since a week your heart broke into tiny pieces, when you saw her little face turn sad. You moved from LA to New York for a new TV series a year ago but Nathalie still wasn't getting used to it. Especially after your filming break of two months. It wasn't the first move with Nathalie. The last years have been incredible for you and your acting career. You broke up the theater school in Berlin five years ago, as you knew you had been pregnant. Marco, your boyfriend and the father of Nathalie just broke up your relationship and left you. Never have you heard of him again. You knew that it wouldn't ever be possible to go on with acting and raise a girl as a single mom, so you took the hard decision. As Nathalie turned three you two moved to LA due to a surprisingly acting chance for a sitcom which just came up. You accepted the possibility to get a contract at your dream job and it pushed your carreer to the top. Within a few month you became one of Hollywood's most demanded actresses on TV shows.

Nevertheless you always decided in favour of Nathalie. She was always your number one and no job in the world was worth leaving her to some Nanny's for weeks without seeing her. So you only accepted job offers if there was the possibility to take her with you and a kindergarden nearby.

The last movement was a hard one for Nathalie. Growing up in Germany she went into a german kindergarden and only spoke this language. In LA you have found a german kindergaren for her as well. You wanted her to continue speaking her mother tongue and in the afternoon you started to learn english with her. She was really good in it now with her five years. But now in New York there was only the possibility to bring her to an english kindergarden, which turned out to be a bit difficult for Nathalie. Maybe that's why she made you a hard time every morning while leaving her behind with a nursery teacher.

You arrived on set a few minutes to late again. Almost sprinting to the hair and makeup trailer you just finished in time with the dressers. The series was something between suits and billions. Some intrigue filled lawseries. It was a good storyline and your charcters development during the season was great. Which was one reason every single fan hyped the series. Not to say, Chris Evans being your costars made all female fans love the series.

You've just started to film the second season the past week and got very excited about the twists and turns. While going through the Skript at the table read you saw that there will be a few steamy scenes between Chris and you. Your characters didn't like each other very much, as they were concurrents, but it may turn out that after a few drinks they will land in each others bedrooms very soon.

You always appreciated the friendship of Chris and you. He was a sweet and handsome person. A good raised one too. He was a true gentleman with that extra scoop of smut written across his face while he flirts. You always enjoyed flirting with Chris but never took it too seriously, as you thought it was just his thing. His own character is some kind of the flirty one. It wasn't something he does exceptional for you. At least this was your perception of him. The chemistry between the two of you was kind of special since the first day you've met. It felt like you knew each other for a lifetime. It was so easy going with Chris. Talking about your life's, your family, your dreams. You two had the chemistry, everyone saw during interviews. Your fans shipped you thatfore.

But whatsoever, it was a hard time for Nathalie at the moment and you don't want to bother her with new strangers she has to get used to. That's why you didn't want to see someone, even if you could have a lot of men who crushed over you. You tried a few dating apps here and there but never really got into it. And additionally, you haven't brought one single man home since Nathis birth which made you into a dating analphabeth.

The moment after you went throughout the sex scenes at the table read, Louanne, the director, called it a day. It was earlier than normal, a few minutes past three. You normally picked up your little Bean at seven. The earliest time they allow the pickup, due to pedagogical reasons, was five. You decided to rush to a cafe and let yourself enjoy the few spare time you've had for months. Sitting at the table with your double-chocolate-doughnut and a large coffee infront of you, you checked your phone and found the dating app, which showed you, which user was nearby to meet up. 'Hmh, maybe I should give it a try and have a nice coffee date until I pickup Nathi' You scrolled through your phone until a deep but familiar voice raised you out of your swiping routine.

"You don't really use this, do ya?" You looked up into his beautiful piercing green-blue eyes. The same eyes which glared at you an hour ago with a smirk, as you finished reading the sex scene. Why was your heart pumping so badly by the thought of being near to him all of sudden?

"Nah, I..I wanted to uninstall it. Tried it once, but just some creeps there."

"Good, heard some weird stories about it. May I?" Chris gestured to the seat infront of you, one hand holding a coffee, the other one holding a sandwich.

"Sure, sure. I just grabbed some stuff until I pick up my little Bean" you cannot help but smile of the thought of your daughter finally happy again to see you.

Chris lips also rose up by the sight of you being happy.

"You cannot deny, you truly love her."

"I do!" You sipped on your, still too hot, coffee. "I mean, sometimes the little princess can truly be a pain in the ass."

"What!?" Chris almost chocked his coffee.

"Yeah, yesterday she managed to lock herself up in the bathroom. Can't tell you how this girl was even able to do that. But I ended up asking Mister Smith to help me break the door. You know the Smith's? My neighbor from downstairs." Chris not making an expression as if he could remember. "The older couple which was sitting in the frontyard as you dropped me off the other night after our season one wrapping drinks with the crew."

"Oh yeah, yeah, that really nice couple. The lady sitted Nathalie, wasn't she?"

"Yeah right. By the way, Betty really liked you." You bit a huge bite from your doughnut, almost spilling out the cream to your pullover.

"Does she?" Chris smiled amused while observing your eating skills.

"Yeah, she told me you are the most handsome young man she saw since Walter. And I cannot proof her wrong, though" You smiled at him, your cheeks slightly turning red at what you just said.

You heard his chuckle. It was really precious, as if he was the kind of shy guy, which he surely wasn't. He waved you off with one hand. "Come on, there must be one hundred men who are way better than this old house here."

"I wouldn't say it if I didn't mean it Evans." You tried to manage the doighnut into your mouth but ended up with the chocolate cream all over the plate and a bit on your chin. You had to shake your head at yourself for this clumsyness. Now it was your turn to chuckle which slowly raised into a soft laugh.

Chris couldn't hold back but laugh at you as well. "I would bet your five year old has more grace than you." he sighed in between his laughter.

"Ah, come on! You don't even know how hard it is to eat a dougnut with so much cream on, Mister superhealty sandwich!" you moaned at him.

"It isn't that hard, Stacey!"

"Uh huh!" You scratches a bit of cream from your plate to your finger and tipped it on Chris' nose. Now you were the one who had to grin. Biting your tongue you tried to suppress your laughter. Chris took the cream from his nose liking it from his finger.

"You are one mean young lady, Anastasia. But thank you, I wanted to taste your dougnut since I had to look at you biting in it. It was either this way or I had to lick it from your face." he smirked. It was those kind of flirtings which made the butterflies in your tummy wake up again. You was used to his flirts, but the two of you never had been alone somewhere. Everytime it was at the bar or a restraunt with your other colleague's. It was easy and not to intimate. You've always got the feeling that it might go deeper when the two of you would have been all alone but never imagined it would happen.

"That would have been interesting, though" was your only answer at Chris' point.

Now you could say it was him, who turned slightly red. Quickly he raised his coffee to take a huge gulp. You've watched the clock, it was slowly turning five and you wanted to pickup Nathalie earlier to go walking in the park with her.

"Look, I have to go, pick up my little one." You stood up from your chair, Chris was doing the same. He pulled you into a hug. It was something you often did. No unusual thing for you. May of 2022.

Hi everyone! Gosh! The last time I posted here was October of 2021, 7 months ago. I wasn't able to keep on writing here because I'm worried of my phone's storage so I had to uninstall this app. But worry no more because I uninstalled my TikTok, Twitter and Facebook today. Yay!

I just got the chance to write again here now because my calculus midterm exam is already done. I wanted to celebrate but I wasn't confident of my answers so maybe I'll just celebrate after the releasing of our grades? That'll take months tho 😭

To keep up with my life updates after October 2021, let's wrap up a bit.

November 2021- my 18th birthday. No celebration at all because I wasn't used to celebrating my birthday. I couldn't even remember what happened that day lol. Maybe I was busy thanking the people who greeted me. Overall, it wasn't really memorable at all.

December 2021- before Christmas Eve, Christmas and New Year's Eve, shit happened because of super typhoon Odette. Pros of that typhoon is we can finally renovate the house (tho it's been 5 months they haven't even started yet grrr), I had a good sleep because there was no signal so after we eat I'd watch kdrama for awhile (downloaded from Netflix) then I'll sleep, I spent time mostly with my family. Cons: No freaking signal. I had to go to Colon so I could catch up with my blockmates and friends. No electricity for almost a month so I had to use flashlight or a candle to make my goddamn plates. Shortage of water and food, we had to wait for how many hours to buy something. It wasn't a good time to celebrate Christmas and New Year.

January 2022- post Odette sufferings. Doing schoolworks while breaking down, couldn't understand anything because I was too busy thinking on how to fix our house, some of our teachers gave heavy tasks and I didn't care about my grades anymore as long as I could pass the courses.

February 2022- We went to Simala and Alcoy. I had the best time of my life since it's our semestral break.

March 2022- Celebrated mom's birthday. Still no classes so I accepted our family friend's offer to be her children's nanny for 4 days. I remember crying because I miss mama and I'm worried bc she's alone. While we're having video call, I had to turn off the camera because I'm crying for no reason. It was an epic 4 days because I had to clean not entirely 24/7 but I'm making sure that the house is clean and we're safe. I woke up early to cook, and after they eat washed the dishes, I cleaned their mess, assist them while taking a bath, literally all the chores a mother do. It was nice bonding with the kids, however, I realized that I wasn't really meant to be a mom (yet). Because of that experience, I realized that I will never be ready to become a mom.

April of 2022- official start of our class. First time I attended our virtual class inside a mall because I went to Talamban to witness my friend's performance. I will never do that again 💀 April 5, I went to see my friends because it's been a year or more since we last saw each other. Sunday of the following week, we agreed to go to Sto. Niño together with their partners and we went to SM Cebu to eat. You know what sucks? I'm the only one who's single. Yes. I pity myself for that 😭 but nah, I'd prefer to be their photographer than having a boyfriend. April 23, we met again to claim our medals at CIT and then we went to SM seaside to eat. We catched up and everything.

Now, I'm busy laying on my bed with so many pending tasks to do. I just finished our exams so I guess I deserve this? Actually, my April and May is busy as hell because our teachers are giving us too many tasks, plus I accepted personal tutor from our neighbor and answering their children's modules, plus my axie, plus the chores I do inside our house. There were times when I forget about eating, or even sleeping. I guess my body has more caffeine than water by now.

And oh, before I forget, I attended VP Leni's rally last April 21 at Mandaue City 😭 HOW CAN I ALMOST FORGOT THAT SPECIAL DAY OF MINE!? Well, yes, I attended her rally, become politically active, and this is my first time voting since I'm now 18. Sadly, she lost to the frontrunner of this election. It wasn't easy to grief while cramming my schoolworks but I moved on already and decided to help her NGO, angat buhay lahat. Also, because of her, I became close to some of my blockmates because we created a group chat. We became instant buddies because we share the same thoughts. They were nice, I just couldn't believe I made some friends because the actual goal is to stay low-key. Well 🤷

My realization for this blog, as I go back to where did I stop, I realized that I've been through so much. There were succeeding nights that I am crying out of frustration, anger, fear about my future, sadness, yet here I am, standing still. Whatever troubles I encountered for the past months, I thank God for giving me the strength to carry it all. I thank my family for stretching their patients for me. I thank my friends for listening to my nonsense blabbers, for listening to my vms (shouting, singing, crying etc.)and lastly, I thank myself for being strong and unwavering. I constantly remind myself that it's okay to pause, it's okay to cry, it's okay to feel the pain until it's gone and after that, we'll start fighting again.

How to turn on Memory Integrity and Core Isolation in Windows 10

According to the Microsoft Support website:

"Core isolation is a security feature of Microsoft Windows that protects important core processes of Windows from malicious software by isolating them in memory. It does this by running those core processes in a virtualized environment.

Memory integrity is one feature of core isolation which regularly verifies the integrity of the code running those core processes in an attempt to prevent any attacks from altering them.

We recommend that you leave this setting on, if your system supports it."

Cool. Turns out this was added way back in 2017 in Windows 10 build 17093. I ran the Windows Security app on my system and noticed a few things. First, at the bottom it says "Your device meets the requirements for standard hardware security" but this can read "...for enhanced hardware security."

In order to be considered enhanced, your system needs to support:

Memory Integrity

Core Isolation

TPM 2.0

Secure boot

DEP - Data Execution Prevention

UEFI MAT - Unified Extensible Firmware Interface Memory Memory Attributes Table

Some of these technologies are quite old and have been in Windows for a while. It's the collection of all them together, working as a team, that enhances your systems security. Virtualization-based Security (VBS) isolates a secure region of memory from the rest of the OS.

I started digging to understand what was interesting or unique about my system that was preventing me from turning these new features on. Additionally I wanted to make sure I was ready for Windows 11 whenever it arrives and adds more security features and requirements.

Go to the Windows Security app and click Device Security.

I clicked on Core Isolation to turn on VBS and noticed that the on/off switch was grayed out and I could scan for driver incompatibilities. I want to ensure that drivers I have loaded into the kernel are secure. Windows 10 has a feature called Device Guard and drivers need to be written in certain ways to ensure they have a clear separation between data and code, and can't load data files as executable, or use dynamic code in the kernel. Again, NONE of this is new and goes back as far as 2015 or earlier.

What do I have installed? Well, friends, a ton of crap, it turns out! LOL. All off these drivers are either super old or are using insecure coding techniques that are preventing my system from turning on the Core Isolation Memory Integrity feature.

I can start searching for each of these and I see a few interesting culprits. Remember, these are all either old or poorly written drivers that are loaded into the kernel on my desktop machine, chillin'.

That Western Digital one? Notice that it evens says "_prewin8.sys" so I hope someone from WDC reads this blog and feels just a little bit bad about it. This is from an external USB hard drive. I certainly don't need whatever extra feature that driver lights up. My USB Hard drive is just fine without it.

The STT*.sys and S3x*.sys drivers are all from various Arduino COM Port utilities and DFU-util firmware flashers. Remember those unsigned warnings you thought nothing of years ago? Well, those drivers are still with you...I mean, me.

It's easy to look for "Windows Driver Package" and line up some of these drivers with actual installers and remove from Add/Remove Programs.

However, since I do a lot of IoT stuff and install random INFs manually...many of these drivers won't show up in ARP (Add/Remove Programs).

I could use Autoruns.exe and click the Drivers tab, but not every one shows up there, and even if you uncheck a driver here it won't be removed from the Windows Security Scan. It needs to be uninstalled and deleted.

For visible drivers, I can open Device Manager and look at the Driver details for each one.

If the .sys file matches, I can right click uninstall and check the delete checkbox to remove the driver entirely.

This NDI Webcam Input (NDI Virtual Input) driver knowledge base literally tells you to turn off Secure Boot and turn off Memory Integrity to install their unsigned driver. No thanks.

From an admin command line you can get a list of drivers. This one gets a list in PowerShell and puts it in your clipboard.

get-windowsdriver -online | clip.exe

While this one works anywhere and gets a simple list:

wmic sysdriver get name

TL;DR - Find the oem.inf from the Incompatible Drivers list and remove it at the Command Line.

But when you have the list from the Incompatible Drivers scan as seen in the screenshot above, just click each driver and you'll see the "oemXX.inf" file that describes the driver. Note your numbers will vary.

pnputil /delete-driver <example.inf> /uninstall

Then you can use pnputil that comes with Windows to delete the driver package from your system's driver store. Here is me doing that:

Do be conscious of each driver and what it does and consider what functionality - if any - you'll be losing if you remove them. If this blog post or specifically, you following the directions of this blog post, renders your machine unusable or unbootable, I'm sorry but you gotta do your research and back up your system. You should be able to turn it off and reinstall, but still, be careful.

Now I'm all set:

It used to be that some versions of Bryce were offered for free download (Bryce 6 comes to mind). Now though, I can't find any mention of Bryce 6 on your website, nor can I find any mention of a free version of Bryce on your website. Please help. Thanks in advance.

Is there a cheaper version of Bryce 7? You say there is a Bryce 7 Pro. What about Bryce 7 Standard? Usually when a company offers a version called 'pro' or 'professional edition' it implies that there is also a cheaper version, usually called 'standard' or 'standard edition', that is also available. Is there such a thing for Bryce?

Also got another question. I found this on a website that distributes freeware http://www.schoolfreeware.com/Freeware_Bryce_Download.html It appears to be a legitimate freeware version from back when Bryce was offered for free, and not a pirated copy of the full version of Bryce. Is it legal for me to download still existing copies of the Bryce freeware version from 3rd party websites? Or is this in itself considered piracy, now that the company that makes Bryce has stopped making a freeware version of Bryce? I'm asking this, because I had a freeware copy of Bryce 6 a number of years ago on a computer, but I can't find it now (I think I uninstalled it, but forgot to keep the install/setup file), and am wondering if it would be legal to download a freeware copy of Bryce from a 3rd party source that still happens to have a copy on their server.

Update to last question: I did click on their download link but it just took me to a software search engine type site that keeps up to date links for software, which meant it simply linked back to daz3d.com rather than to an actual download URL for the Bryce 5.5 installer. But my question still remains. If I can find a copy of the old freeware version of Bryce somewhere on the net, is it legal for me to download it?

Twenty US Dollars is pretty cheap for a program and over 1 GB of content..

And that link goes to C-net's download page which, now, links back to the Bryce 7 Pro store page..

ETA: Do you remember your registration details from back then? Because if you do, then the serial and stuff would be in your account.

As to legit ways..finding a magazine disk with it on..that's about the only way.

No, there is no less expensive version of Bryce any longer. With the release of version 7 DAZ decided to go with a single version, and since that version contained all the bells and whistles of the pro version, they followed that naming convention. There is no longer a standard version.

In answer to your second question, no. DAZ does not offer their software products through third party sites. They are only legally available here. Not only are sites offering downloads of DAZ software doing so illegally, but such downloads would only be useable anyway if they included a serial key. DAZ does not include serial keys with the downloads of their software, but makes them available separately through the user's account here on the site. Any software downloaded elsewhere could only include an illegal key.

So, as others have clearly stated, the only way to obtain a copy of Bryce of any version, whether previously offered for free or not, is through the DAZ store. Previous versions are only available to those who already have valid licenses. The only version otherwise available at present is Bryce 7 Pro, as others have stated, and it is not free.

Ok. I see. But what about Bryce 7 Standard? Usually when a program is called 'pro' it implies multiple editions of the software. Usually the other edition is called 'standard'. So if there's a Bryce 7 Pro, I'm guessing there is also a Bryce 7 Standard. Although I've not been able to find software by that name on here.

As just SAID there is NO standard ONLY pro edition now. They no longer release other versions except FULL versions no matter the name.

Bryce 5.5 was free, is no longer free. That download link will not get you any version of Bryce, it does, as MJ said, take you to Download.com, who in their turn no longer offer a free version of Bryce but simply pass you on the the DAZ 3D site to buy Bryce, the current version.

When Bryce 7 first came out there were 3 versions available, Bryce PLE (the free version) Bryce 7 and Bryce 7 Pro. However it was always exactly the same download, the serial number was what triggered the extra features for each version. Then for quite a long time DAZ 3D were offering a 100% discount on Bryce 7 Pro, as part of a 'free' suite of programs which worked together.

Once that offer ended Bryce 7 Pro was changed back into a paid for version, but with a very much reduced price ticket and the Pro serial number only. So for today's price you get the version which was previously offered at $199.95 back in 2010, when it was first released.

Pimp your screen mac free download. So it is a bargain price. There are very few so highly specified programs which cost so little. For that price you get the Pro version, with all it's additional features compared to the standard, plus an amazing amount of content, {670mb of content).

There is currently only one version of Bryce available, and that is the one in the store here. Any other version that you find offered on the net is not a legal version.

Bryce 5.5 was released in early 2006 and Bryce 6 in October 2006.

Slightly related to the topic (yet also a bit side-tracking) but in my opinion important enough to mention: although Bryce may not be free any more Daz Studiois. And although I'm well aware that both programs have different (but also somewhat overlapping) goals I can't help mention how the combination of both environments is (in my opinion should) be a no-brainer to get hold of.

I went the other way around; started with Daz Studio and ended up picking up Bryce (and Hexagon, but that's a different subject) and even though I'm a hobbyist I never looked back or around for other solutions. The way both environments co-operate and work together is so extremely smooth and well laid out that, as mentioned before, it should be considered a no-brainer to pick them both up.

An example, maybe not the best but the best I can come up with: You have a terrain with a house and you want two people in front of that house. You could build that pose (the house and the people in front of it) entirely using Daz Studio (which provides a lot of options and posing controls) and then export the whole environment into Bryce where you can build the surrounding environment.

Within that reasoning I think it's safe to say that Daz Studio even extends on the whole 'Bryce experience'. So you could also reason that you now got the option to grab two programs for the price of one. And I honestly think it's something you should consider.

My problem is that I've been teaching Bryce to high school students for the last 15 years. One of the big draws is that students love the program and can download it at home to do longer renders. When you have 52 minute periods, some scenes just don't have time to fully render -- and I won't even get started on the time it takes to render animation.

Even though I have purchased [as have the schools I have taught for] every version of Bryce so far (including back when it was a few hundred dollars under Macromedia), without the ability to let students download and run it at home, I'm going to have to shift gears and move toward a more 'modeling' software -- like Sketchup. :/

When the forum software was last updated (major update, a couple of years back) all account info, other than join date was reset. The 'level tags' (new member, etc) are based on post count and nothing else..so if you had 10,000 before the update and haven't made one since..you'll be a new member, all over again.

Blender 3D is absolutely free 3D modelling, rendering, and animation suite.

Terragen is similar to Bryce. There is a free, not for commercial use version and a paid version so you would probably need to ask about academic use.

How's your experience with different writing/reading platforms? (AO3, FF.net, Wattpad, etc.)

Most of us here have experienced being on different platforms and I wanted to know your experience with each and every one of them. I'm speaking from a reader and beta's pov.

I've been into fanfiction for so long now and I've used FF.net, Wattpad, Tumblr, LJ, Quotev (omg these two), Twitter, AFF, and AO3! I'm just mostly on AO3 and Twitter now tho. This is kinda long since I described my experience from each of the platforms I mentioned.

FF.net- This is where I first started reading fanfics. I did not actually read here for long and my knowledge of it is kinda outdated so take what I'm saying with a grain of salt. FF.net looks cool and easy to use on desktop. Reading there is actually pretty straightforward too. I easily found fics in my preferred fandoms. Tho I don't remember if you can leave comments on fics? I never noticed. I did try to download the mobile app a year ago and I had a hard time using it so I just uninstalled it, I prefer their desktop version. There are some great classics on FFnet that I would still come back to read.

LJ and Quotev- Oh my god. Idk why but these 2 are giving me flashbacks. Look, I know how many writers were publishing their stories on LJ but I just can't, for the life of me, read on LJ. Their formatting was never good! The text was like squeezed into the screen! And I remember this one time where there was a really really great fic that was translated into English (the OG was in another language) but you can only read it on LJ and I had a really hard time reading it because the text was like squeezed into the middle of the screen. Ugh, I can't explain it without showing you how it looks but just imagine that in every sentence, there can only be 5-6 words. I just cry whenever I remember all the great fics that I had to read on LJ. Only a few were crossposted. As for Quotev, it really wasn't the best place where you can read fics, it was fun tho. I mainly used Quotev for the quizzes >< I can recall myself obsessing over those quizzes kasjflnajf.

Tumblr- I mostly read short stories on Tumblr. You can read so many good one-shots or imagines there. It wasn't really a platform where you can regularly post and read long fics tho. I know that some writers write and post on Tumblr but I can't really read chaptered fics there. The tags that the writers created made it easier to navigate their stories but, honestly, that kinda makes it hard in the long run.

Wattpad- I don't have much fanfic experience in Wattpad (I can't find good ones ><) but I did read soooo many OG works here. It was a big thing here in our country (it still is tbh) I had Wattpad for a long time and tbh there are some good works there, however, I stopped using it 3-4 years ago so again, outdated info but so many works that are novel-like in their quality and length. This is the only platform that I know of that has some top-notch OG works. The reading experience is actually great! You can have reading lists, a private library, you can follow writers, vote on chapters, comment on specific sentences, the interface is good, you can change the text and the background, it's like an ebook reader. The negatives are I can't find good fanfics there except for smut, the smut there is good but then again, there are so many bad apples in there that overshadow the good ones. I stopped using it because I don't really read OG works anymore and it started getting hard to find new good books to read. The quality of the works went down as the site got too oversaturated by users. I got sucked into the magnificent and awesome writing of fanfic writers, I swear we are too lucky to have fandom creators.

AFF- AKA asianfanfics. This is one of the main platforms for the k-fandom afaik; AFF and AO3. This and AO3 is where I spent most of my time reading fanfics. These were my two main platforms for fanfics. The reading experience is fairly good for mobile and desktop. The fics are mostly great, too! The thing I dislike about this tho is how difficult it is to find fics for your fandom. I don't search on AFF for fics to read. I go to Tumblr and Twitter for recommendations then click on the links. I also follow my fave writers on their respective sns and then just click on the links they posted once they publish a new story.

Twitter- AFAIK this is just a recent platform where writers can share their fics which are called tweetfics! Tweetfics are fairly short since there is a character limit for each tweet and threads can be hard to read if it's too long. If you're not familiar with it, it's quite simple, writers just write as they go. There are two kinds of tweetfics; socmed aus and a classic tweetfic. A classic tweetfic is where writers just write normally like how one would if they're writing a fic. They just write as they go so once you publish that then that's that. They usually update every day. As for sns aus, it's where the story is told through a series of screenshots of the characters' tweets, their gcs, and their dms. It's actually a fun read! If you want to read some short but good fics, you can go to twitter to read some~

AO3- Ah yes. My forever love. I guess almost everyone knows AO3 so I won't say much. AO3 is just a masterpiece. Even when I was just starting, it was easy to understand. The tags, the skins, how easy it is to use both on mobile and desktop, the bookmarks, subscriptions (they never fail to send me an email), comments, etc. IDK I just love AO3 and the culture in it you know?

2019 is my year to repair: my emotional/mental state, my health, and my life as a whole. A lot of time when a new year arrives, I say 2018 was such a bitch to me. Really, it was myself... I’m the director of my life and the things that happen, that I have no control over; I have allowed the horrible occurrences control me and how I feel. In October I reconnected with a friend, it was serendipitous really... I play this game called “Party in my Dorm” I have played this game for six years and have met some amazing people from all over the world. You wouldn’t believe the emotions you can experience for people you haven’t met physically.

I have so many friends, but only a handful of close friends on this game. One of my bestfriends there is hilarious, she can make anyone laugh I swear she could. One of the sweetest souls, I’ve ever met on there... Another close friend is Jz, he is such an awesome person, down to earth and genuine. Marra isn’t playing right now, but she is a spitfire! She is someone who listens and cares about everyone. Nisa is my pupil on the game, she doesn’t play much but she is a Jamaican bombshell.

I’m grateful that I got a chance to play this game, it has a lot of people in it who are near and dear to my heart.

Yesterday... was hard... Yesterday, I thought of killing myself... I was wishing that I would die so that I don’t have to deal with anymore heartache and confusion. That’s not me... I am not a depressed individual, I am a happy go lucky, roll with the punches type of girl. I have not thought suicidal thoughts since a decade ago. Yesterday crept up on me... I was taking care of some very complicated issues with a handful of patients, when I received messages from my boyfriend Todd.

Oh let’s rewind... Todd... We met on the game about 5 years ago, we met as friends and talked days on end. Well we lost touch and reconnected in October... It’s funny really... on my alternate account, I unfollowed everyone I didn’t know.. besides a handful of people. I get a message out of nowhere from this barcode account “hey” I wrote back to him asking who he was and when he followed me. He replied saying that he wasn’t sure when he followed me, well I tried to reject him telling him that I’m an old lady and I need to go to sleep. He replied saying “That’s hot! I’m an old man, wanna ride on my scooter.” I was intrigued because I didn’t expect that answer at all. We kept chatting and he explained his name is Todd, I was like “meh... doesn’t ring a bell.” An hour later we were still talking! I was saying goodnight to him, when it came to me... He’s the Todd I spoke to ages ago who I would always laugh with.

Our relationship progressed in a very short amount of time, we would leave each other voice messages on Line. Soon upgraded to phone calls, where we would be on the phone all night and even fall asleep on the phone together. We had so many laughs and good conversations, “I love yous” were swapped before we knew it. I fell fast and hard... but I didn’t think of it as fast since we had known each other longer than when we reconnected. Though we had aledi said ILY and both fell for each other... I hadn’t seen Todd, I had no idea what he looked like. I didn’t ask him for pictures and I reassured him that I would wait until he was ready for me to see what he looked like. A month passed and still nothing... I asked him if we could video chat on Black Friday, he agreed. I got PLASTERED that night with my family. BUT I was still within my senses to remember our video chat, hell I had been waiting to see him for a month. I texted him seeing if he was ready and he said he needed to charge his phone first. I waited for a while and fell asleep in the chair in my room. I cried... because I had a feeling I wouldn’t be able to see him, but I had a smidge of hope that I would. I was so disappointed and he was mad at me for being upset. I ended up giving him short answers to things he would ask. He then said he was really nervous and that’s the reason that he didn’t call. He asked if pictures instead would be ok. I told him that would be fine, because shoot... I really wanted to actually dream about the guy I’m in love with/ in a relationship with. I was thinking he would send me the pics within a few minutes of talking.... Nope... I became upset again, because seriously??? How freaking hard is it to snap a pic and send? After giving him more short answers the rest of the day, I woke up to 4 pictures on snapchat at 2AM. I was ECSTATIC, to finally see him... He is way younger than me, to that in the beginning I was hesitant tbh... Because I had a rule for myself to never date anyone more than 3 years younger. I made an exception with Todd, because we had such amazing chemistry. His pictures... He looked as if he was 16, I told him he really does have such a babyface.

Time passed by and I sent him pictures, but none were sent back. He asked me for pictures and I asked him for a selfie first then I would send him multiple pics... He laughed it off... His texts became less and less and the phone calls became less and less. I asked him for calls, to which the same thing happened that happened on the video chat night. I still tried my best to be understanding... Hes tired... blah blah blah... I then stopped texting good morning, stopped sending memes daily, stopped sending singing videos, etc... One convo we had was when I joked about him being a catfish, he then came at me saying that he will send me a “proof selfie” where he has my name in the picture and when he does... he wants a full apology. I replied that I don’t mind giving him a full apology, he repeated that a few times. Then he didn’t reply to me for a day or so... I ended up texting him asking if he just wants to stop this and move on or if he wanted to brood some more? He agreed to move past the argument.... a day or so after I saw that he sent his RS (This gives you a strength/intel boost in the game) thongs and she sent to him. I sent him VMS asking if he wanted to just be friends I would understand... that I love him, but that I needed to speak to him and if he ever cared for me at all... to please call me. He didn’t call me... I cried that whole day. My brother came for Christmas a couple days after... We spent time together and I told him what I was going through and he advised if he doesn’t facetime me that I don’t need him in my life and that it doesn’t make sense as to why he wouldn’t want to. Later that day... I cried when we were driving home... silently cried. My brother was driving and my head was turned away, but he heard me sniffling and asked what was wrong. I burst into tears and cried hella ugly. I told him that I’m so tired of trying so hard in relationships and its never enough. He replied that I’m not supposed to try so hard, to let it happen and that in a relationship it should be equal effort.

Todd ghosted me for 5 days... he even at one point had “Single Pringle” on his status on the game.

I cried every day in December over Todd. Those five days were the worst... At one point I woke up to myself crying in my sleep. On the 5th day I only cried a lil bit... I was feeling better, like I could move on okay. Then he texted... I tried to give him the cold shoulder, but I was still in love with him. He said he didn’t understand why I thought that he broke up with me and asked for SS of him saying it. I told him that him ghosting me for 5 days was indication of that. We went back to normal and was talking that day. A day or so passed and I noticed his RS sending him more gifts and he sent roses back to her in return. I pmed saying that I didn’t know he was collecting them and asked if I could get roses back too. He accepted the gifts and sent none in return... I sent him VMs saying again if he wants to just be friends we can... I was speaking calmly...patiently... and then I messaged him on the game asking why I wasn’t getting gifts though he gifted his RS. He blew up at me asking me what my problem is. We went back and forth that day...

Yesterday... that worse day, that had me thinking the unthinkable... Because my good wasn’t good enough... I wasn’t good enough for someone who said he loves me to keep treating me like shit regardless of the things I overlooked with him. He treated some chick better than me... after everything we had been through... that was the last straw. I told my closest friends that I had to take a few months off the game to deal with my mental and emotional state. I keep meeting guys on there who are so sweet and amazing when we talk and then gradually they get sick of me and annoyed... they don’t want to spend time on me and the excuses pile up. Last night I thought to myself of how I should focus on things I can control. So this is my first day of not playing the game... We will see where this takes me.

So I uninstalled the game and uninstalled Line (the messaging app we sometimes used) Todd still has my phone number... that he blocked a couple days ago. LOL see... who blocks their GF in a LDR??? someone who doesn’t give a shit. If he were to call... I’d be happy... If he facetimed... I would be over the moon. But tbh if anything he might text, but I doubt anything else. I’m not going to settle for anything less... I can’t, even though I am still in love with Todd, I need to love myself more. Yesterday showed me that... I am loved by so many people who prove that they love me... I am beyond blessed with good friends. I need to focus on taking care of myself.

So here I am... going to try the blogging thing again... not for anyone else.. just for myself.

until big bang patch , there were huge changes .

in the year 2007 ~ 2010 ;

i was quite new to MS at that point of time.

i was really a newbie, noobie and naive .

in the year 2007 ~ 2008 ,

it was when i first discovered ‘bannedstory’ a free program for maple sprites. (kind of like mmd. free program but drawn models lolz) .

so i played around with the program ;

my first YT channel , where i uploaded almost everything i did with bannedstory and some other program i forgot . I used to be really desperate for subscribers too. not anymore. IDGAF ABOUT THE NUMBERS ANYMORE LOLZ. itz just numbers.

i watched other users’ ms videos , i also discovered a paid program ‘ sony vegas‘ but since i couldnt afford it ( i was really young and naive ) //i’m still am// ^^;; //illegal//

i played around with sony vegas, AND HOLY SHIT. sony vegas is such a COOL PROGRAM WITH ALL THE AMAZING EFFECTS & TRANSITIONS ! but it is a paid program . the full version is really expensive .

in 2008 ~ 2009

(dont rmb exactly when since it’s long ago) , i received many negative remarks , comments , criticisms . i was so affected by it that i deleted everything + my first youtube channel . i think it was my very first ? i upload almost everything i did with ms bannedstory there. i deleted that channel. i forgot the reason why i deleted it , since it is so long ago . but i dont think i regret it. a little part of me regretted it, cause i couldn’t see what my younger version of me did. :x

i also deleted everything on my second channel until it is left with 2-3 videos.

My classmate abandoned me , she said she hate me . I began to overthink .why does she hate me ? am i a bad person ? did i do something wrong ? is it because of how i treat others ? how i treat my … friend ? i was mean ? i was being rude ? im useless ? im a burden ? how weird i am ? … She was the first person who made the first move to talked to me in school . i guess i kind of like her , as a friend . she meant a lot to me . She is the first person who tried to be my friend during my school days , while the rest do not give a fuck and gave me ‘ i do not like you ‘ face , even their body language says it . i got kind of attached and used to her presence , because i’m not used to making the first move to talk to people , being around with people , hanging out with people in school . i’m kind of a loner . im kind of anti-social & sort of … shy . i have different personalities. i act differently in different situations.

When she said she hated me last year , she abandoned me . She started hanging out with my other classmate . And everytime she saw me or when im close to her , she always make an excuse for me to stay away from her , and then gave me a blackface or that ‘ i do not like you ‘ look . hahaha

I guess there is a first for everything . I do not know how it feels having someone who did all these for me . itz a new experience for me . i feel lost ;; i do not know what this feeling was …

i started playing an online game ‘ auditionsea ‘ in late 2010 , but got more focused & addicted in mid 2011 .

I tried releasing my stress and emotional pain by playing auditionsea, because i do not know what i am feeling . I feel empty , hollow inside . i do not know what this feeling is. i feel … lost .It did not really work but it did pass the time .

i also overthink a lot . i kept thinking and thinking . i overthink so much that it fucked me up . i became more messed up . i tried acting not myself because acting myself will make me think more , and more emotional . im kind of a emotional person , to prevent me feeling even worse . i tried acting like a different person online… but it did not work and backfired . it still messes me up .i am so damn lost . i tried to become a different person irl , it is the same result .it backfired , did not work , making me even worse . i guess being true to yourself is the best ? … “ be yourself “ . everyone is different and unique . but i tried doing all that because of overthinking . i overthink , i think a lot . F m l .

In this year 2012 , maplesea released a new class , ‘ phantom ‘ . I saw his cinematic trailer and animation . holy shit . He is such a cool class, and he steal skills ! I stopped playing MS temporarily because that game gets boring after awhile when you completed what you want to do . I have to admit, Phantom made me install back MS and i got addicted to ms again . I really like MS storyline and lore . His individual storyline is kind of good , itz like watching an anime but you have to play the game to read the story lolz . The art is quite good , I LIKED IT !! but i took fucking 3-4 years to reach level 200, cause i stopped playing temporarily at LV 150-170 + . i do not know where to train , lost motivation and my damage is really NOOB . PLUS I AM POOR AS FUCK and NOOB AS FUCK . After phantom class , they began to release more and more class and i kind of neglected the old class which i haven’t get to 200 yet. lolz.

I guess I am meant to be alone , i do not deserve to have friends . i sorry for being such a weird person okay . i am sorry for being born this way . idk why do i exist in this world , idk why am i born with this personality . idk why am i so useless . idk why am i such a burden . why am i so useless …i’m really useless. i am meant to be a loner i guess .

i guess that is why i became more anti-social .

In mid 2012 - late 2012

In one of my school classes , i saw my friend crying . My other classmate saw it too , and he asked her why . She said her friend // my other classmate abandon her. She left her for another friend. I feel kind of bad. i thought i could finally feel good about it , seeing that she is finally feeling what i am feeling. But i just feel… bad. I am meant to be alone , so that means im used to being alone … I’m used to feeling lonely, but i am not used to feeling empty, hollow inside. Hahaha. fml it feels like a part of me has been ripped out and it hurts so fucking bad .

In the beginning of the year , january , my school class has new sitting arrangement for everyone . I was chosen/paired with the same classmate . Idk, she acted like nothing has happened , like she had forgotten the hatred she has for me , and started talking to me again . Friends again ? i was confused . but it was only temporary . i guess all good things do come to an end .

everything’s gone once again . i became alone once again ~ i came to a conclusion that i am meant to be alone , nobody likes me , i creep everyone out . my classmate became really close to my other friend classmate . They both are close before , but closer this year … Hahaha . i felt like i’m a replacement . spare tyre .

; 2015 ;

I changed to a new phone on 12 January 2015 . That means my contacts are gone . I had to restart everything . Games , dl apps from playstore , new accounts , and other stuffz .

; 2016 ;

… i don’t know …. i feel so messed up !! LOST ;; LIFE GOES ON . NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS , LIFE GOES ON ANYWAYZ .HAHAHA FML . I had my very first IA / intern experience . :’) it was a challenging and new experience for me for 2 months lolz . That was also the period of time where i tried out MM ^^;; . i was curious so i tried out . Never knew i will love this game so much lolz . FUCK MY LIFE LOLZ. i intend to tried the game out for awhile , like play the beginning intro , then uninstall . MM made me confused , especially the convo with unknown where he send the address to the player lolz . i intend to uninstall after i played the introduction / prologue , but ZEN made me think otherwise . ZEN is really welcoming and SWEET OMFG ~ he reminds me of phantom from MS . Because of him , i decide to play the game longer , and i got even more confused but i still play CUZ OF ZEN !! FML AND THE LONGER I PLAY , THE MORE I UNDERSTAND AND THE MORE I RELATE TO THE CHARACTERS AND I FELL IN LOVE WITH THIS GAME OMG LOLZ FML . 5 Ways you’re Putting your Cryptocurrency in Danger without even Knowing it

You can lose all your cryptocurrency for two reasons:

A hacker is actively attacking you

You are a victim of collateral damage sparked by a bigger event: If any of the services you trust (the cryptocurrency exchange, the password manager, the browser) are being hacked, your data can become compromised and someone else can get access to your funds.

If the second scenario happens, you might think that it’s not you who was responsible for that and you are not the only one affected so, under crowd pressure the affected platform will have no choice but to reimburse your loss. Well, say that to the 127,000 creditors processing claims against Mt. Gox. Do you think they will ever get back the $2.4 trillion (worth of Bitcoin) they lost when the exchange went bankrupt due to a 650,000 BTC hack?

In this article, we won’t repeat the same common sense practices you’re reading everywhere, such as keeping your private keys safe how to create a strong password. You should follow or at least be aware of these measures, but today we’re planning to reveal a list of bad practices you might be doing without even knowing that you’re putting all your cryptocurrency funds at risk. Don’t worry, we’re suggesting a quick solution for each of them along with extra tips if you’re looking to strengthen your security even more.

Not checking for HTTPS

When you connect to a website with a regular HTTP address, your data is sent over in clear text (your exchange password, PIN number, or even the private key of your wallet) that can be easily intercepted over WiFi or through your network provider. Not only that, but also there’s no way to verify if you’re connected to the correct website or if you’re on a compromised network that’s redirecting you to an impostor site that looks exactly like an exchange or your web wallet.

How to check if the website has a secure connection:

In your web browser’s address bar, the address starts with “https://”.

Have a lock icon next to the address bar.

Clicking on the lock reveals a valid certificate for the website.

Some browsers hide the “https://” by default, but the lock icon is common. To check for the full address, you typically need to click or tap inside the address bar.

UltraSafe Tip: For the websites that you know you’ll be using regularly, after doing the extra check you can immediately add them to your bookmarks and never use anything else than that to access them.

Be aware that the presence of the word “https” itself isn’t a guarantee that the site is legitimate. Scammers can also get certificates for a look-alike website. An address like “https://binance.com.1337.com” might have the lock icon, the https, and everything else, but it’s still not the original Binance website. Maybe this one looks obvious to you, but sites like “xn — inance” manage to steal people’s funds before. Not updating your browser and OS

If your browser and operating system (OS) are not up to date, you’re being exposed to many security threats that can put your cryptocurrency at risk while you’re simply browsing the web. Many software updates will be issued to combat the problems found after the OS’s official release. If you’re not getting the new version (even if it’s a minor “bug fix” update) those problems will still be there for you, giving bad actors the chance to exploit them.

How to keep your browser and OS up to date:

In Windows 10, automatic updates are enabled by default. Microsoft Edge will also be kept up-to-date automatically.

If an update is available, Chrome will download it automatically by default. But in order for Chrome to be updated, you need to restart the browser.

The Android operating system will keep standard apps, such as the Chrome browser, automatically updated to the latest version.

Mozilla Firefox should automatically download updates and prompt you when they are available to install.

If you have Apple updates turned on, the OS and Safari should stay up to date automatically. Although, some updates require that you restart your device.

The iOS operating system will keep the system and standard apps, like the Safari browser, automatically updated to the latest version.

Ultra Safe Tip: Sometimes it happens that the latest update itself comes with problems and it might expose you for hours or even days until a patch is released to address that issue. If you are skeptical, you can tweak your settings in such way that you get notified when a new update is available, but only allow it to be manually installed. This gives you the opportunity to do some short research on forums or to simply Google the update number to find out if there are any known problems with it.

Holding your cryptocurrency on a centralized exchange

If you’re looking to convert your tokens or to actively trade them for profit you must go through a cryptocurrency exchange, as this became the conventional way of doing it. The problem, however, lies in choosing the exchange.

A lot of people are choosing a centralized exchange that was (remember: “was”!) the most convenient way to handle their cryptocurrency and, deliberately or not, accepting the counterparty risk of giving the custody of their funds to a third party. First, their storage can be hacked. It happened to Mt.Gox, it happened to Coincheck (the second largest exchange in Japan), it happened to Binance (one of the largest global exchanges), and it happened to many other exchanges leading to over $1 billion worth of crypto assets stolen in 2018 alone. Second, their business can be shut down by the SEC for any number of reasons, much like how 1Broker was seized because of money laundering. The risk wasn’t worth it one year ago when the alternatives, decentralized exchanges (DEXs), weren’t user friendly and it’s definitely not worth it now when the user interface of the new DEXs improved significantly, being almost as easy to use as their centralized counterparts.

How to use a decentralized exchange (DEX):

Link your wallet

Make a deposit

Make a trade

Withdraw your funds back to your wallet

Disconnect.

That’s all! And the biggest benefit of using a decentralized exchange is that you are holding your own funds. This makes a world of difference as it eliminates all the risks mentioned above.

How to keep your passwords safe in case you might forget one of them:

Never store any of them on your computer

Write two copies on paper (don’t print them, printers can be compromised)

And store them in two different locations

Don’t underestimate paper. This is how popular individuals of the crypto space lost millions of dollars. Ian Balina, an influential cryptocurrency investor, got hacked for $2 million worth of crypto after he stored his public keys in the cloud storage program Evernote.

Not using 2FA because of the convenience

Most platforms today, especially the ones that involve financial services, offer the option to enable 2FA (two-factor authentication) as an extra security step. While it is not required and left only as an optional selection, it is the only way to protect your account (and the access to your cryptocurrency) in case your email, password, or computer is compromised.

How to activate 2FA

Find the option in your account’s settings menu (usually under the “Security” category)

Install an authenticator app on your phone, such as Google Authenticator or Authy

Scan the QR code generated in your account (or input the given code in the app)

Write the backup code on a piece of paper (this will be your only way to recover the access in case you’re losing your phone or uninstalling the app)

That’s it, you’re protected by 2FA. Some platforms offer SMS protection as an alternative, but it’s arguably better to opt for the first suggestion. We’ve seen it so many times when network providers give phone numbers to hackers after they provided all the required data for the recovery process. It even happened to the security expert John McAfee one year ago when someone took over his Twitter account.

Ultra Safe Tip: Install the 2FA app on a spare phone with nothing else installed and connect it only to a network that you know is safe. This way, you’re minimizing the chances of someone hacking into it, making it an even more valuable security step for all your other accounts that have it activated.

It may be troublesome to start changing your bad security habits, many of which have been created due to convenience. But remember: owning cryptocurrency means that you’re in charge of your own money. You don’t have a bank or a third party to blame in case anything happens. In most cases, the authorities can’t even help you because cryptocurrency, by their nature is made to protect their user identity. That’s what makes them attractive to hackers. Adopting some easy routines, like checking for https, updating your software, using 2FA, keeping your passwords safely on paper, or always using a decentralized exchange can protect you from becoming a target to anyone with malicious intent. How to Protect Yourself From a Facebook ‘Data Breach’ (And Why It’s Terrifying)

It’s likely that your social media feeds over the past few days have been filled with news of a data breach at Facebook at the hands of a UK-based data analytics company called Cambridge Analytica. Over the weekend, a whistleblower (and BC native) named Christopher Wylie, who’d worked at the data analytics company while living in London, revealed that, in 2014, the firm commissioned a professor at Cambridge University to create a personality quiz/app in order to get data about users’ personalities, political views, and other preferences and habits. Anyone familiar with Facebook has likely taken those quizzes at one point or another (remember when pop culture quizzes like ‘Which FRIENDS character are you?’ were all the rage a few years ago?). 270,000 American users took the quiz, allowing the firm to access their public profile data. What they didn’t realise is that the app was also scraping data from their friends’ profiles (something the site allowed at the time), resulting in information from over 50 million Facebook users becoming available to the makers of the app. This data was eventually used to target people with ads and news stories with the specific intention of influencing monumental political events (the firm was hired in 2015 by the Brexit ‘Leave.EU’ campaign and later by the Trump presidential campaign, but maintains that it didn’t use this massive pool of data in their work. Right.).

What makes it even scarier—you know, besides the whole manipulation-to-change-the-course-of-history thing—is that this isn’t a one-off “breach.” As Vox explains, “reports calling CA’s data harvesting a ‘leak,’ a ‘hack,’ or a serious violation of Facebook policy are all incorrect. All of the information collected by the company was information that Facebook had freely allowed mobile developers to access.” According to Facebook itself, via its deputy general counsel Paul Grewal, “No systems were infiltrated, and no passwords or sensitive pieces of information were stolen or hacked.” That’s all true. A small portion of the data that was taken from users was given up willingly, by granting the app access to their profiles, and the remaining bulk of it was taken legally from the users’ friends’ accounts (albeit without their explicit approval). But that’s what makes all of this really scary. We’re offering up our entire lives to the internet at large, with very little understanding of how far and wide all that precious information is travelling, and what it’s being used for.

“Social media is free because the commodity it is selling isn’t the platform, it’s you. The business of social media is to harvest and sell information about you, through various means,” writes information warfare expert Molly McKew for Cosmopolitan. “Millennials and Gen Z (people born from 1980 til now-ish) tend to lay their whole lives out online, and Instagram and Facebook and Tinder are amazingly efficient and sometimes sexy ways to communicate and form relationships,” she later writes. “But in the world of data, once you post something, you can’t take it back. Even if you delete a scandalous photo or undo a like, it might be gone from your visible profile but it’s part of your data profile forever.”

Now that we’re all suitably shaken, what can we do to protect ourselves going forward?

Obviously reading things like data harvesting, information warfare, and breach of privacy sent me right to my Facebook settings to see what sort of data about myself I was offering up to the world. I’m not a prolific Facebook user, I recently uninstalled its app from my phone, and I frequently delete or discontinue the use of apps that request to import my profile data from the social network. That said, there were several apps that apparently still had access to my profile and everything it contains, apps that I didn’t even remember downloading and that I’d probably granted access to several years ago.

But here’s the thing—they didn’t only have access to my bare-bones public profile data, as I’d originally thought. Some of the apps had access to all of my photos, including photos of me uploaded by friends (altogether that’s over 12000 photos just floating around in the ether!), all my status updates, and things other people had posted to my timeline. That’s terrifying. So I went in and systematically disallowed or curtailed the apps’ access. Here’s how you can do the same.

To edit the privacy and settings for your apps and games: 1. Click in the top right of Facebook and select Settings. 2. Click Apps in the left menu. 3. Click an app or game to edit its settings. 4. Click Save.

You can also head to Facebook’s Help Centre to learn more about the following: how to control your permissions when you create an account for an app or game, which allows you to review the information you’d be providing before you proceed; how to contact the developer of an app or a game to request that they delete the data about you that they have collected; and how to turn off Facebook’s integration with apps, games and websites.

“Until larger policy changes are made, there are some ways you can make smarter data choices,” advises McKew in her Cosmo explainer. “Never take quizzes or surveys; those are just about data access and collection. Don’t click on recommended pages or profiles; these come from algorithms, and feedback into them. Don’t link data profiles — don’t use your Facebook login, for example, to log in to other apps or services; when you do, you are giving those secondary providers access to everything in your Facebook profile. Keep in mind that apps running in the background on your phone are still collecting data.”

In other words, someone’s always watching.
