actually uh that one reply is making me think, bcos how many other avatars are totes cool with dying as long as their god’s will is continued? not simon. not jonah. not peter. not not-sasha. not jude. not trevor. not helen. they serve their gods, but their will is their own, and they’ll fight or flee or beg to preserve their own lives.
possibly jared is fine with dying, but from how he approached it that was less ‘my death will serve my god’ and more ‘welp guess there’s no way to avoid this’.
so we’ve got annabelle, and we’ve got oliver. which is probably related to which entities they serve or w/e in-universe, but uh. that sure was an Unfortunate Choice you made there, jonny, for Those Two Specifically to be so utterly willing/resigned to serving their fears that they literally do not care to preserve their own lives, Because Their Gods Will Be Fine.
#i uh. i think this was just coincidence that stemmed from his s1 use of race as an aesthetic?#i do not THINK this was on purpose but um. that's an unfortunate pattern.#and them BOTH being spared bcos jon; an aracial character played by a white man; willed it so? um.#the only other ones i can think of are agnes and her mother but we never hear directly from them do we#and they die LONG before our story starts so we don't rly get to hear their amount of willingness/resignation#at a time when both of them might have felt their hands were forced#pls note that this is different from ppl like jon or martin or even gertrude being willing to die for the sake of stopping the fears#bcos that's a different kettle of fish from devoting ur death to evil#tma critical#tma spoilers#god jonny i think u just fucked up back in s1 and are trying to save it now but it's not going GREAT
