[ THIRTEEN ] it hurts to be something, it’s worse to be nothing with you. i’ve done the math, there’s no solution. we’ll never last – why can’t i let go of this?
“Rin,” you stopped his hands from going any further, your fingers closed around his. He paid you no mind as he merely flicks your hands away. The top three buttons of your blouse have already been popped open, the white lace of your bra visible to his eyes. They visibly darkened with lust. Grasping his hand again, you held him tighter this time around, preventing him from exposing you to him. “Rin, please. Stop.”
Rintaro finally stopped. His fingers froze in the air, his thumb caressing the button like he’s fighting back an itch to completely rip your blouse apart. Maybe on another day, you would’ve found his hunger to be flattering. But not here, not in the middle of nowhere, and definitely not when he smelled like smoke. Not when he smelled like all the horrible things he’d gotten from her.
Cocking his brow, he leant back at the hood of his car. He stared up at you, his pretty eyes narrowed into slits.
“What? You don’t want me to touch you?”
You vehemently shook your head no. You awaited it – some sort of angry response from him. It wasn’t often you rejected his advances, but it was written crystal clear on your face: he made you uncomfortable. He found it sickening, how you looked at him like he was some vermin.
“Fine,” he spat out, rounding the vehicle as he opens his door. “Get in the car.”
“But… I can’t just leave–”
“I’ll have someone take care of it. Get. In. The. Car.”
You glance back at your car. Kuroo’s cellphone was still inside, along with your gun engraved with your family crest. If anyone were to peek inside, it wouldn’t be far to assume that you were out to kill someone. Not to mention, it was your private vehicle, not the Palace’s issued ones. Quickly, you raise a finger to Rintaro and ask him to wait, running back to your car before slipping the phone inside your pockets. In less than a minute, you’d opened the passenger’s seat and buckled the seatbelt.
The silence was painful.
There’s nothing but the smooth hum of the car’s engine, the rhythmic tapping of Rintaro’s hand against the wheel. He didn’t bother turning the radio on, and you were too lost staring at the trees whizzing by to strike up a conversation. There were too many things to ask, too many answers that demanded your attention, and so little time for it all. You wanted him to break the silence first, until sleep beat you to it. With the clock reading half an hour past four, you found yourself nodding off, shaken awake by the constant road bumps ahead.
Six am.
You straightened your back. The scenery had shifted from the dense forestry. Beside you, Rintaro looked half-awake, cracking his neck from side to side.
You watched as the gentle fingers of dawn painted the sky in hues of rose and gold. With the car travelling along the coastal road, you glanced sideways, captivated by the mesmerizing vista unfolding before your eyes. You’d seen the sea before, but never at this time – never when the sun was beginning to stretch its arms as if to embrace it. The sea, that of liquid sapphire, shimmered under the first light of day, each tiny, soft wave crested with a translucent luminescence – something both haunting and mysterious that made it hard to look away. It was deep and bewitching, like it would whisper to you the secrets of the deep if you looked close enough.
Rolling the windows down, you gazed at the horizon – right where the ocean kissed the sky, and birthed with it the symphony of color. Pastels of pink and lavender blended into a cerulean blue. The sun, a radiant gem emerging from its slumber, cast a golden path across the water and shimmered across the ripples, inviting the soul to wander its glittering trail. You felt the need to reach out to it – to skirt your fingers across the horizon, wondering if somehow the sea could drown you in its beauty and your pain could be forgotten.
As the car cruised along, your eyes remained transfixed on the sea. Drawn to its endless, vast rhythmic dance of a push and pull. The waves rolled in a timeless cadence, their gentle roar a comforting lullaby. Each surge and retreat of the water mirrored your own steady breaths – in and out – a silent meditation that made you feel as if everything was almost okay.
Through the open window, the scent of salt and the crispness of morning air filtered through. It filled the car with the essence of the sea, masking the scent of Rintaro’s stumped cigarette. For a moment, you were filled with a profound sense of peace. A moment of stillness amid the journey. The sea, with its infinite expanse and eternal ebb, seemed to hold all the answers. It wasn’t like Itachiyama whose beauty brought calmness to your soul and silenced all your fears. It was entirely a beauty of itself, one that haunted you and prodded at your bones, picking your soul apart and gently sewing back them together.
Like an unstoppable force, like watching a car crash into another – it was hard to take your eyes off of it.
“Where are you taking me?” you broke the silence after a while, choosing to keep the windows rolled down. Beside you, Rintaro spared you a quick glance before turning his eyes back to the road.
“You’ll find out when we get there.”
Nodding, you propped your chin onto your arm. Now that you were awake, the events from the past few hours finally caught up to you. The meeting with Kuroo, Atsumu’s sex tape, being chased by Rintaro, and your call not reaching Kiyoomi – Kiyoomi. Gods. He must be so worried. But your phone’s battery died long ago, and there was a bigger matter at hand – Rintaro’s accusation, and the way he’d hid his hurt with a smirk.
It was a side of him you’d never seen before.
Sure, he’d been angry when you did anything that concerned Iris, or when you left for Itachiyama after his displeasure about it. But this time, he looked more hurt than angry, as if he couldn’t believe you would go so far.
You rolled the windows up. The sounds of the humming of the car and the breeze slipping through muted.
“Rin,” you mumbled, toying with your fingers in your lap. “I didn’t try to kill you, you know.”
Your husband snorted. “Oh, you didn’t? Could’ve fooled me. It’s not every day you see your wife’s new maid slipping something in my drink, but if you truly did not have anything to do with it, then I guess it’s safe to assume your maid is out to assassinate me,” grip tightening on the wheel, he forced himself to exhale through his nose. “Do you deny this?”
“Airi has nothing to do with this.”
“Do enlighten me, then, because I don’t know what to think of you anymore,” he gritted his teeth, and you were shocked into silence. It was quite the confession coming from him. “I have made mistakes. Many of them. I have hurt you, again and again, but do you really wish to end my life?” he shot you a look, only to turn his head away – staring out into the sea before you. You wondered if it’s because he couldn’t stand to look at you, or he didn’t want you to see whatever might show in his face.
“I didn’t think you could be so cruel, Princess.”
Your face fell, the light in your eyes dimming as his words sunk in. “I told her to crush some sleeping pills in your tea so I could sneak out without you noticing. I wasn’t trying to ‘kill’ you.”
“And where would you go without me? A lady like you should never leave the castle premises unsupervised,” he reminded, the edges of his lips curling into a dissatisfied smile. “Unless you don’t want me knowing who it is you’re meeting.”
Sighing, you let your head drop to your hands. “Enough with the accusations, Rin. How many times do I have to tell you I have never cheated on you?” you rolled your eyes at him, your arms crossed to your chest, irked. “If you really must know, I met up with Kuroo Tetsurou – yes, the man who wrote that article about your tryst and ruined your reputation. You know what I did? I paid him to disappear from this country, and to completely erase any traces of what he’d written. I did it for you. I did it because I no longer want to see you suffering from the hands of another, so don’t you dare go around treating me like I’m your enemy, because at the end of it all, I’m the only one on your side. Do you understand?”
It was a half lie, but a white lie in your defense. The end would justify the means. Rintaro didn’t have to know the whole truth, not when there was a chance he’d ruin your plans. He only needed to let his guard down, to completely trust you on this because that last part you would not lie about.
He could hurt you – take your heart and crush it until there was nothing left. But it would not change the fact that you were his wife, and he your husband. It wouldn’t change the fact you were bound by vows you’d spoken in front of Her Majesty, in front of the Gods they worshipped in a sacred chapel. You would never, and could never, go as far as to make Rintaro detestable in the eyes of others. He was yours to hate and love. No one else could take that right away from you. He simply wasn’t for the world to pick apart.
Silence clouds the car. With a quick glance, you saw his grip loosening on the steering wheel, his shoulders visibly relaxing as his brows pinched together. “You did that… for me?”
You scoffed. “You have no idea the things I would do for you.”
“Then why keep it a secret from me? I would’ve gone with you. I could’ve sorted it out myself.”
“You couldn’t. You’ve barely been touching any of your work ever since the scandal happened,” you pointed out, holding your hand up to flash him your ring – the one you never dared took off, not even in the shower, and especially not when Kiyoomi had been nudging his way into your heart. “I’m your wife. I promised to share the burden of the crown with you. If a time comes that you’re unable to handle the troubles coming your way, then I will step in and do it for you.”
Rintaro blinked rapidly, as if clearing away the images that troubled him. “I’m sorry,” he finally said, “I’m just… You said you hated me, and that you regretted marrying me. So when I saw Airi mess with my tea, I immediately thought you wanted me out of your life.”
You looked out the window. Pursing your lips, you couldn’t help but think to yourself – if only it were that easy.
“You’re my husband. I would be devastated if you died.”
Rintaro drove around for a few more minutes before finally arriving in a gated community. Although community was a stretch, considering there were no other houses around. Not a single person could be seen. The entire beach was closed off from that point on. He wouldn’t answer any of your questions either, simply smiling to himself as he drove past a grove of trees until you broke through – the sounds of the waves audible and muted, as if they were from a distance. Before you stood a large white mansion, hidden by the tall trees, but peeking just enough to be highlighted by the golden dawn.
“We’re here,” Rintaro announced, bouncing out of his seat to run around your side and open the door for you. You couldn’t help but snicker at his sudden chivalry. Nevertheless, you slipped your hand into his, following him as he led you to the pebbled walkway leading up into the house. “I bought this beach for us.”
“Rin, you can’t do that. The beaches should be open to the public.”
Rintaro squeezed your hand. There was a lightness to his step, almost as if he was floating through air – or maybe your reassurance had simply made his body feel lighter. “Indulge me a little, wife. Let me show you around first, and if you really don’t like it… then I’ll put it up for sale, okay?”
You couldn’t argue with that. It was hard to, anyway, when he struggled to open the doors as he refused to let go of your hand. After fumbling for the keys, he finally got them in and pushed the doors open.
You could see much from where you stood. At the break of dawn, the sun’s first golden rays began to dance across the tranquil surface of the sea, casting a gentle, shimmering glow that greeted the grand beach house with a tender embrace.
The luxurious abode, with its elegant arches and expensive terraces, stood proudly against the backdrop of the awakening sky. Its hues of pink and orange melded seamlessly into the lingering blue of the night. Your eyes widened, watching as the colors bounced off the water and reflected back onto the sturdy white pillars of the house’s exterior. The soft, ambient light illuminated its exquisite architecture, revealing intricate details and the soft contours of its stone façade.
Stepping onto the grounds for the first time, you let your hands run through the textures of the pillars, feeling its smoothened out surface.
The house, a vision of opulence and warmth, beckoned you with its ethereal allure. Each window and glass wall, strategically placed, welcomed the sunrise with open arms, allowing the light to flood the interior spaces with a radiant glow. The reflections danced upon the surface of the pristine pool outside, playful patterns dancing along the walls and the ceiling. It made the entire house seem alive with its morning gentle touch.
You felt your breath get caught in your throat – stunned by the beauty of it all.
You moved towards the edge of the expansive backyard, where the manicured lawn stretched out like a verdant carpet leading directly to the soft sands of the secluded beach. The sound of the waves, a soothing melody, called out to you. It mingled with the rustling leaves of the palms that framed the house. The air, crisp and salty, invigorated your senses and filled you with a sense of profound peace and connection.
Unbeknownst to you, Rintaro was drunk on your expressions. He lit up each time you smiled at a corner, his heart blooming and swelling he felt it would burst out of his chest. For one of the few times in his life, he felt proud of himself.
“I bought this mansion a year after I started courting you,” he said, his gaze transfixed on the way your hands were still intertwined. It caused him to trail after you like a lost puppy; not that he minded. He just liked being here with you. With that thought in mind, he absentmindedly caressed your wedding ring with the pads of his thumb. “I didn’t have concrete plans in mind yet, but I knew I would end up marrying you someday, and the Palace didn’t seem like a good place for us to enjoy our married life. But here… we can live separately from the rules imposed on us. Here, we are not Princess or Prince. It could just be the two of us.”
You bit your lip, your heart hesitant. It fluttered at the sincerity of his words, swooned at the revelation he’d been planning this for years. You could imagine it – Rintaro walking through this property a year into your courtship, the young Prince nodding to himself because he just knew this place would be yours.
“It’s still mostly empty, of course. I didn’t want to decorate it without asking for your opinions, and I figured maybe you’d want to take the lead in that area,” he encouraged with a smile.
And really, who could say no to that? When he gave you such a beautiful house and handed you the reigns to do as you pleased, then you would turn this house into something you could call your home.
Every detail of the beach house was meticulously designed for both grandeur and intimacy. The spacious terraces offered the perfect setting for private dinners and joyful gatherings with family and friends, promising countless evenings of laughter and love under the starlit sky. You could already envision long, leisurely breakfasts on the balcony, the sea’s gentle murmur a constant, comforting presence.
You would sip your morning coffee in your nightgown, reading the newspaper, or letting your eyes close as you let the sea breeze gently wake you up from the remnants of your slumber. Behind you, your husband would sneak up in nothing but his sleep shirt, his voice deep and croaky with sleep laced to it. He would wrap his arms around your waist, coo good morning in your ears as he buried his face on the crook of your neck.
It was the perfect house to live the married life in.
The moment is too beautiful that it let the walls you’d put up slowly crumble. It gave way for your mind to entertain the thought of hope, of second chances, of a life where Rintaro apologized for everything he did and you forgave him for it. A life where he finally left Iris behind, and moved in here with you – being a loving husband and wife like he’d promised.
Regardless of his mistakes, you couldn’t deny he chose this haven with care.
He understood your yearning for a sanctuary that felt both majestic and personal. You could see his vision in every corner of the house – in the way the morning light filled the rooms, in the carefully carved openness that invited the outside world to become part of your home, and in the promise of countless memories waiting to be made within its walls.
“It’ll get very bright here in a few minutes,” he murmured, his voice echoing through the spacious expanse. “I know you hate dark places, so I wanted something that had a lot of room for sunlight.”
You hummed. “That was thoughtful of you.”
“I only had you in mind when I was looking for our place.”
Tugging at your hand, you let Rintaro drag you upstairs and show you around. “This is our bedroom,” he gestured, and you stepped inside, glancing back at him and down at your intertwined hands in a silent query. Rintaro smiled, nodding as he gently let go of your hand to let you look around the room.
Taking small, careful steps away from him, you let your eyes take in the sight before you. The room was a sanctuary of tranquility, bathed in the soft, warm hues of the rising sun. The bed, dressed in crisp white linens with accents of deep red, invited you to sink into its comfort. Candles flickered softly on a low, modern nightstand, casting a gentle, ambient glow that complemented the natural light streaming through the expansive glass wall.
The true masterpiece, however, was the view.
The entire far wall of the room was made of glass, offering an unobstructed vista of the ocean beyond. Palm trees gently swayed in the morning breeze, framing the horizon perfectly.
You moved closer to the glass, your heart swelling with awe and contentment. Outside, on the spacious terrace, two elegant lounge chairs awaited, promising peaceful mornings and serene evenings spent with the one you loved. The lush greenery surrounding the room blended seamlessly with the view, making it feel as though you lived in harmony with nature.
“Want to see the best part?”
You giggled. “You mean to tell me something could get better than this?”
“Of course. You know I’m only choosing the best for you.”
Leading you into another room at the end of the hall, Rintaro smirked – proud and barely holding back his excitement as he swung the door open. As you stepped inside, a gasp of pure delight escaped your lips – followed by bubbling laughter in disbelief.
The morning sun streamed through the grand, arched windows, casting a warm, golden light that danced sprightly across the room. The room seemed almost enchanted, a perfect blend of nature and comfort, invite you to lose yourself in your own world and let the time pass you by.
Towering bookshelves lined the walls, filled to the brim with volumes of all kinds, promising endless hours of exploration and discovery. The rich, earthy scent of aged paper and polished wood filled the air, wrapping around you like a comforting embrace. A graceful spiral staircase wound its way up to a second level, where more books awaited, their spines gleaming in the soft light.
Your eyes were immediately drawn to the cozy seating area, where a plush of sofa beckoned you to sink into its depths and get lost in a story. The soft, muted colors of the cushions and throws added a touch of warmth, making the space feel lived-in and inviting. A quaint reading lamp stood nearby, ready to cast its gentle glow over late night reading sessions. Behind you, you could hear Rintaro move through the room as well – gently picking up knick-knacks placed along the way.
“–And here is your reading corner, or… whatever you’d like it to be really. If you want to crochet, or paint with Tobio, you can use this room.”
“I thought you said this place was empty,” you joked, gazing up at the myriad of books displayed.
“Yes, it is,” smiling to himself, he leant against the wall and crossed his arms across his chest, content to let you indulge yourself by exploring. “But I made sure to fill this place up first, as I figured this would be the room you’d spent the most time in. I went ahead and collected all the books I know you liked, along with other things I thought you would enjoy.”
There it was again – the thumping of your heart over his words.
It was too easy to get carried away, especially when Rintaro was being unnecessarily sweet. It almost felt as if… nothing was wrong at all. And for a moment – just for now – you let yourself forget everything and focused on the present. With your heart tucked and hidden away for safety under your sleeve, you pointedly averted your gaze from your husband. You knew you wouldn’t be able to handle seeing him like that – content, unguarded, with hooded eyes watching you tenderly. Like he was in love with you, and he meant it when he said he wanted no one else to spend his future with.
You turned your attentions back to the room, the lush greenery that adorned the space, with ferns and potted plants that brought a taste of the outside world in.
You could already imagine yourself curled up on the sofa with a book, the sounds of the waves gently crashing in the background, or perhaps sitting by the window on a rainy day – the patter of raindrops providing a soothing soundtrack to your literary adventures.
You couldn’t help but feel your heart swell in adoration, even as you tried so hard to fight against it.
The Prince had carefully curated this heaven for you. He’d ensured you could have a space where you would spend countless mornings in, a cup of tea in hand, watching the sun rise over the horizon. Afternoons would be spent exploring the vast worlds in the many books that lined the shelves, each one a new journey waiting to be embarked upon.
This reading room was more than just a space; it was an escape from the world. A place where you could retreat and recharge, surrounded by the things you loved most. As you stood there, bathed in the soft morning light, you were bombarded by a mix of emotions – an internal debate whether to feel elated or depressed.
How could someone know you so well, and still hurt you in the process? Love truly was a dangerous thing.
However, you pushed that thought out of your mind. You did not want any arguments tainting this space, this home. Rintaro’s efforts didn’t deserve to be shattered, either. You would save it for another time. For now, you would explore every inch and corner of this house. “And here’s the backyard – plenty of space for our future kids to play in. I’m thinking twins, one boy and one girl, and then we’ll stop trying for another. Two little devils should be enough. The boy needs to be the eldest though, so he can protect his little Princess,” his eyes lit up, and you can see it already.
Rintaro must’ve seen it, too – the scene of your children running around, chasing other. Your little boy would be screaming at the top of his lungs, your little girl blowing bubbles as her hair bounced around her cute little face with each tiny step she took. If she ever tripped, her brother would immediately be there for her. He’d cradle her soft cheeks in his equally small hands, wiping her tears away and telling her it’d be okay. And then they would run to their parents for comfort – Rintaro would bring them into his arms, pressing kisses to their foreheads before he brought them back to their mama. Then, you’d pull out the first-aid kit, plastering band-aids on every scraped knee and kissing all the boo-boos away.
It was a beautiful thing to imagine. Letting your kids grow up in a beautiful place, with a loving father who would stop at nothing to ensure their happiness, building a family.
It put a smile to your face. “You do know I can’t control who comes out first, right?”
“Yes, but a man could dream,” he shrugged and faced your way, his eyes softening as he scanned your face. You didn’t know why Rintaro looked so beautiful in that moment. The picture perfect image of a Prince Charming, his hazel eyes seeing things you couldn’t, his smile hesitant yet hopeful. “I hope our little girl looks like you. She’d be very pretty just like her Mom.”
Heat rushed at the nape of your neck. It was a flood of emotions all at once – flustered, flattered, frustrated.
You immediately pointed your body in a different direction. Sliding the glass doors aside, you kicked off your heels and sunk your feet into the grass. It was a much needed reprieve after walking and driving for hours with those darned heels. Soon enough, you could hear Rintaro trailing behind you – a quick, curious glance letting you know he’d picked up your heels, your shoes dangling on his crooked fingers.
“Can we have a dog?”
“We could have a dog,” he grinned, and then gestured for you to come follow him. Feet sinking into the sand, your hands found solace in his bicep. Rintaro practically puffs up with male pride the moment your nails sunk into his skin. It was silly, enough to make you roll your eyes, but you kept on walking and walking – the sounds of sand crunching beneath your feet and the delicious warmth emanating from your husband a great way to start the morning. Eventually, you’d made it to the front of the house, where the crystalline pool stood just before the sea announced its presence.
“And in the beachfront, well, we could do pretty much anything. Barbecue, invite friends over for dinner. Oh, and there’s a wine cellar in the basement. I think I had that filled up, too. Do you want to have a quick drink before we go?” Shaking your head at him, Rintaro nods, gnawing at his lip before he decides – fuck it – and finally lets his hand rest on top of yours.
The position was oddly intimate. You weren’t embracing each other, yet you’d never been so close to him before. Your sides pressed against one another, your hand curled onto his arm, with his large, veiny hands caressing yours. It’s a little too perfect, and it makes you just a little too in love. Unable to help it, and drunk in the serenity of it all, you let your head fall back to his shoulder. Eyes closed, breaths shallow – your heartbeat in sync with his.
Thump, thump, thump. The schwaa of the waves. The whoosh of the wind.
It was like heaven on earth.
Above you, Rintaro cleared his throat. “So? What do you think? Is it to your liking? If it isn’t, I could always look for a different house–”
“It’s beautiful, Rin. Thank you.”
“You like it?”
“I love it,” you told him, opening your eyes to smile up at him, your cheek still smooshed against his broad shoulders. “It’d be a perfect home for us.”
“O-Okay,” he blushed, averting his gaze from you as he stared at the sea instead. The motion made you chuckle. It wasn’t always Rintaro could be such a flustered, affected man, but you adored the rare times when he was. Just then, an idea popped up in your head and you grinned, tapping his shoulder with your nails.
“Hey. Why don’t we have a little housewarming party to make it feel more like home?”
“We can?”
“We can do whatever we want, Rin,” you reminded him, and then scrunched your nose as you thought of the whole process. Furniture shopping, talking with interior designers, adding your personal touch, bringing in some of your most important things to this beach house that was literally miles away from the Palace. “–Although decorating it would take a lot of time and you must be busy–”
Rintaro’s eyes widened in panic. “I’m not busy. Well, I am, but I’ll make time. Let’s – Let’s decorate. I want to turn this into our home, too.”
You squeezed his bicep, warmth flooding your senses.
As you wandered through the house, your heart swelled with love and gratitude. The beach house wasn’t just a place to live in; it was a dream woven into reality. A testament to the life you would build together. Standing there, bathed in the tender embrace of the sunrise, you felt an unbreakable bond to this place, knowing that it would be the backdrop to your love story – however complicated it may be – a place where you both would grow, laugh, and find solace in each other for the years to come.
For the next few months following your arrival, you and Rintaro dedicated yourselves to transforming the beach house into a true home. It was a long, arduous process – infusing every corner with your touch, and Rintaro with his love for knick-knacks. Countless mornings were spent wandering through local markets, hand in hand, searching for pieces that spoke to you – the future you would create.
It was a great opportunity to fool the media, too, a silent declaration to the world that your marriage would not be swayed by petty rumors.
Well, they were not just rumors, but the Queen seemed ardently pleased by the amassed support.
Rintaro, suddenly the considerate partner and doting husband, would often pause to hold up a delicate vase or an intricately carved wooden sculpture, his eyes seeking your approval. You, in turn, would smile and nod, trusting his impeccable taste and loving the way he always seemed to know what would make your heart sing.
It was as if he knew what you’d like before you even said it out loud. Maybe it was because he’d spent two years of his life courting you that he now knew you like the back of his hand.
Whatever it was, the media ate it up. The article regarding his cheating scandal eventually became nothing but measly gossip. You remained in contact with Kuroo, however, his article about Iris only waiting to drop at your signal.
It should’ve been released months ago. You could’ve ruined her already, snatched your husband back right under her nose – you just couldn’t do it. Not yet. Not when she’d been pointedly avoiding Rintaro, and your husband was acting like he forgot she existed. Could it be both of them couldn’t handle the criticism, after all? Did they care more about their reputations and image than their ‘passionate love affair’?
But then again, neither of them wanted to be exposed for their trysts.
It was all Atsumu’s doing.
And that actress – poor Hiroda Yuki – still remained oblivious to the sex tape you hid under your closet. A secret you would bury there forever, a secret you’d take with you to your grave. You hadn’t heard news of her getting knocked up, and her career was still soaring. For now, you had nothing to worry about. It seemed peaceful – for now.
In the meantime, you dedicated your afternoons in the arrangement and rearrangement of everything you’ve collected – snow globes from your trips overseas with your parents, Rintaro’s random collection of weapons and key chains from his own adventures. The living room, with its expansive glass walls and view of the endless ocean, became a canvas for you to experiment with. There were no rules here.
You placed a soft, oversized rug in the center, its deep blues and greens echoing the colors of the sea. Comfortable chairs and sofas were positioned to invite conversation and relaxation, while vibrant cushions and throws added splashes of color and warmth. You insisted on color, ensuring that the beach house had to be vibrant and thrumming with life. You refused to let it be like the Palace – dull yet overwhelming with all its arching marble statues and golden chandeliers.
And then the dining area, envisioned as the heart of your home, where family and friends would gather, received special attention. You chose a large, rustic wooden table, its surface polished to a warm glow. Around it, you placed mismatched chairs (which greatly bothered Kiyoomi when you sent him photos), but you told him that each had its own story and character. The space was an organized mess, eclectic yet coherent. Above the table, Rintaro hung a chandelier of delicate glass orbs that cast a soft, magical light during evening meals.
The master bedroom was a different tale itself. It was the room you and Rintaro spent the most time on. You established several rules before proceeding, drilling it into his head that:
Rule no. 1: He was not allowed to bring any women inside. (He scoffed at it, offended, but agreed anyway.)
Rule no. 2: Lavender essential oils were the only scents allowed. Vanilla scents were forbidden. (He didn’t understand why you were so vehemently against it, but again – whatever makes the wife happy, was what he said. That alone made you question… did he not know what Iris smelled like? He knew all your favorite perfumes by heart, yet could not recognize the distinctness of vanilla? You quickly dropped the subject.)
And finally, Rule no. 3: No arguments inside the bedroom.
(Rintaro was barely able to hide his shock at you suggesting it. His eyes widened for a moment, an expression he quickly schooled into that of nonchalance. “Of course,” he’d said, “Any conversation that may require a debate will always be had outside. Never here.” To which you replied, “Never here, Rintaro. This is our space. We will not be enemies here.)
There it was, the master bedroom, a sanctuary of tranquility and intimacy. Soft, sheer curtains were chosen to filter the morning light. The bed was adorned with luxurious linens and a variety of textured pillows, making it a perfect retreat after long days spent exploring the island or entertaining the guests you would have over.
Personal touches, like framed photographs of your wedding, and the candid ones he’d taken of you each time he called for you in the Yuzuru Estate, were placed on the nightstands.
All that was left was to invite his brothers over for the housewarming party.
You and Rintaro decided to keep it a secret for now. After all, it wasn’t every day that the brothers all gathered together for dinner outside the Palace. You debated inviting the Queen over, too, but after that recent fiasco and her snide remarks about your mother, you were heavily against it. Rintaro, on the other hand, couldn’t care less. He just wanted to spend time with his brothers – saying they’ve never done that before. Hopefully, it wasn’t too late for them to rekindle their brotherhood.
It sounded like an absurd idea at first, you admitted. You didn’t have to go so far to help your husband get along with his own brothers, but whether you liked it or not, you were married – and marriage often came with demanding responsibilities.
Of course, there was still the issue of Iris: would she be invited or not?
You gauged it for the first few weeks. Waiting, listening, and watching with a careful eye on how Rintaro would be acting. You’d also piloted the agenda, peering over it like a hawk to see if he would sneak in a thing or two. Or maybe he had a room for her. But – much to your surprise – there was none. There were exactly nine guest rooms; one for each brother and their wife, and one for the Queen or your parents, whoever wanted to visit.
Still, it made you turn your nose upwards.
You didn’t fancy the thought of Kiyoomi sharing a room with Iris. In fact, the image of them sharing the same bed was enough to make your stomach turn upside down. But knowing Kiyoomi? He’d probably make her sleep on the floor than be anywhere near her.
Finally, after some finishing touches, you both sent out the invitations.
The housewarming party was an intimate, private event. It was challenging at first – their schedules did not align with each other, and Prince Wakatoshi was not warming up to the idea. However, his son, Wakashi, badly wanted to see the sea. That was all it took before he’d agreed, and soon, even the busybody Shinsuke accepted the invitation – with the promise Airi could also come.
Pride bloomed in your chest. It seemed like an impossible feat at the beginning, gathering all the Princes into one place. But they’re all here now – Keiji was reading books to Wakashi, Tobio is playing beach volleyball with Tooru, Rintaro, and Atsumu. Osamu declined his brothers’ invitation as soon as he caught sight of your kitchen, pushing past his blond-haired twin and declaring that your kitchen was now his. You all laughed about it, and Osamu hasn’t left since.
Wakatoshi was there in your living room, cuddled up on the couch with his wife, Camilla. They both snoozed in peace, lulled by the Princes’ distant shouts and yells from their game. Behind them, Shinsuke crouched over the paperwork he’d brought with him, Airi happily gazing at her Prince as she wiped glasses and silverware.
Kiyoomi and Iris, for some reason, did not participate in any of the activities. The Second Prince has worn a stormy expression the moment he parked his car, his wife in tow. Iris didn’t look great either – her face pale and lips chapped.
You made a mental note to ask him about it later. For now, you would enjoy yourself.
Stepping out of the living room, you walked past the pool and to the beach. The Princes were still playing on a 2v2, Tobio and Tooru on one team, Rintaro and Atsumu on the other. As you got there, your sundress puffing up from the wind, you noticed Maiko was already on one of the lawn chairs – smiling fondly at her husband who scored once more.
You followed her gaze. Now that was a sight, indeed. All the Princes were shirtless – their muscles rippling with each jump or aggressive spike of the ball. They’d already been tanned after playing under the sun for hours, their healthy golden glow illuminated by the setting sun. Rintaro himself had you struggling to look away. Wearing sun shades, a black compression arm sleeve, and his shorts hanging low on his hips – it suddenly felt hot despite the breeze.
Shaking your head to yourself, you tore your gaze away from him and sat next to the Princess. “Maiko,” you greeted, handing her a watermelon juice.
“Your Highness!” she beamed, gladly accepting the drink and playing with the umbrella before she continued, “Thank you for having us over.”
“It was my pleasure,” Smiling, you watched her closely, not missing the way her cheeks flamed each time Tooru scored and he looked her way. The movement was subtle, barely noticeable from another’s eye, but it was clear in that moment it meant the world to Maiko. Beside you, the Princess hid her giddy smile behind her drink, her bare toes curling into the sand beneath you. “So. You and Tooru seem to have gotten along more.”
“Hmm, I wouldn’t say that,” she scrunched her nose, “He was really worried for you, you know. He wouldn’t stop telling me how he was going to beat the Crown Prince up. And when that article went out…”
“We’ve moved past that.”
“You have?” she perked up, “I mean, that’s good. Have you forgiven him?”
You took another sip of your drink, and then snorted. “Of course not. But I think we’re at this point in our marriage where we’re pretending to be happily married, and it’s hard for me to not play my part,” when Maiko titled her head to the side, confused, you gestured to the grand abode behind you. “He’s bought me this house, helped me decorate it. We spent many nights talking about how we’d like it to be, and now we’re all here. His brothers, their wives – everyone is laughing and having fun. How could I ruin it by dwelling on the past?”
Maiko didn’t look entirely convinced. You couldn’t blame her – you weren’t very convinced yourself.
Things were going a little too smoothly for your liking. Until now, you still had your doubts that everything was suddenly okay, that Rintaro and Iris have suddenly decided to end their relationship. But you’d asked around, bribed the maids in Belleview Manor, and they all said the same thing.
Rintaro and Iris have not spoken to each other ever since your return.
It felt as if Rintaro had been sincere when he said he only slept with her because he felt lonely with you. A pathetic excuse, of course, something only an imbecile would fall for. But you’d long accepted that Rintaro was an oddity and complexity of itself.
The only way to truly understand him was to let him show all versions of himself, both the good and the bad, before you could see which one of him you could love the most.
And this Rintaro?
The loyal, caring husband who’d given you this home? The one who wouldn’t stop stealing kisses even when no one was looking? The one who proved to you that the master bedroom upstairs indeed had very soft, luxurious beds by fucking you in it all the way until the morning?
You liked that Rintaro very much.
“I’m always here for you,” Maiko said after a moment, her smile genuine as she gazed upon the secluded area. “The house is beautiful, by the way. I can see why you looked so happy ever since the Crown Prince showed this place to you.”
“It’s our home. It was the best thing he could’ve given me.”
Saying it loud felt like an accomplishment. Your mother had always told you that you would be great at managing your own house someday. It felt surreal to see with your own eyes that she’d been right.
“To be honest, I never expected I would have moments like this,” quipped Maiko, her smile wavering as she plucked out the cocktail umbrella. “Before I married Tooru, it was lonely in the Rai Estate. My mother died giving birth to me, and my father married the next woman who presented herself to him. Sometimes I think he did that because he wanted me to grow up with a mother, but my stepmother was never fond of me. It was a lonely childhood, I must admit,” she confessed with a sarcastic chuckle, lifting her head to stare at her husband. “But then Prince Tooru came along. The Queen started bringing him along whenever she visited my father, and the Prince and I would always have playdates. I remember I would cry each time they had to return to the Palace.”
You tipped your head to the side, curious. “The Queen brought Tooru to the Rai Estate?”
Maiko nodded. “Yes. You didn’t know? Her Majesty is my godmother,” she informed, absentmindedly spinning the ring on her finger. “She was close friends with my father, and they remained in contact even when she married the King. I’d say she was the closest I ever got to having a mother figure, but Her Majesty is too busy to waste her time looking after a little girl.”
“I see,” you murmured, and reached over to clasp her bare shoulder with a comforting squeeze. “I’m sorry about your mother, Maiko. I hadn’t known she’d already passed.”
“It’s alright, not a lot of people mourned her death anyway. And people easily forgot she existed because my father remarried very soon,” she shrugged, a forlorn look crossing her sharp features. “My father said I don’t look like her. Sometimes, I think that fact made it easier for him to move on, because he never saw her in me.”
“Did your father love her?”
“Probably not. You know how marriages between nobles are; I wouldn’t be surprised if it was arranged. He never talked about her either, so I wouldn’t know.”
You hummed to yourself, “Does the Queen still visit Lord Rai?”
“Not lately, no. She got occupied handling the Kingdom’s affairs when His Majesty passed away, but they still send each other letters during birthdays. I’m not sure the Queen has written back to my father in a while, though,” as quickly as she said it, Maiko’s back straightened, her free hands waving frantically in the air. “Oh, I hope this doesn’t change the way you see me, Princess. I promise the Queen does not hold any special favors to me.”
“Not at all, Maiko. You’re still the same Princess in my eyes.”
“TAKE THAT!”
Both of your heads snapped in the Princes’ direction. Tobio, pumping his arms in the air as Atsumu tugged at his blond locks from the other side of the net. Tooru was running around – or more like bouncing – while your husband was down on one knee, panting heavily with sweat dripping down his chest.
Before you could process what was going on, Tooru bolted for Maiko’s direction, whooping and hollering as he picked her up and twirled her. Maiko’s squeal was lodged in her chest upon Tooru’s crushing hug. He kept spinning her, enough to have Maiko wobbly on her feet when he finally put her down, holding her at an arm’s length away as he exclaimed, “Did you see that? Rintaro couldn’t receive my serve!”
“It was just a lucky serve!” defended your husband.
“Yeah, right.”
Rintaro turned to you, his ears turning red as he stood up and dusted the sand of his abs. “It was a lucky serve.”
You put your hand up to your mouth, concealing your laughter. “I’m sure it was.”
As the sun began to set, casting a warm glow over the horizon, the air buzzed with excitement and the scent of blooming flowers from the garden. The sound of waves crashing softly in the background added a serene rhythm to the lively conversations that flowed as effortlessly as the wine. The brothers, their bond evident in their playful banter and shared stories, mingled around the spacious terrace, their laughter mingling with the music that floated through the air.
You eventually left Maiko, seeing as the Princes did not have any plans on stopping their game anytime soon. You didn’t want to rush them into dinner either, not when Rintaro looked like he was having the time of his life.
Dusting sand off your dress, you took yours and Maiko’s empty glasses back inside. Airi and Osamu were still in the kitchen; the former smiling at you when you handed her the glasses, while Osamu remained elbow-deep in some dough. You left them soon to their devices, heading out of the kitchen when you nearly bumped into a firm chest.
“Hey.”
“Kiyoomi,” you blinked up at him, joy radiating from every pore now that he was here. Kiyoomi looked handsome in just his cream, short-sleeved linen shirt, his curls tousled and falling beautifully to frame his face. Until now, you were still beguiled by his striking beauty. “Thank you for coming on such short notice. I heard you’d been occupied with some things in Itachiyama.”
“Nothing out of the ordinary, and I would never decline an invitation from you,” he said softly, dipping his head so you could hear him better. His close proximity set your heart racing, and before you noticed it, you had your dress balled into your fists. “You did a great job with the place. It’s lovely.”
“Thank you,” you breathed out, voice light and airy as you gestured outside. “Are you not going to join your brothers in their game?”
Kiyoomi shook his head, a mischievous smirk gracing his handsome features. “If I did, then Rintaro’s team would lose.”
“Oh, are you a better player than him?”
“I’m better than him in all aspects,” he declared, offhandedly gesturing to their brother on the couch. “Though I could never hit as hard as Wakatoshi. You should’ve seen him in his prime – he was a monster as long as he had the ball in his hands.”
“I didn’t know you played volleyball, too.”
“We used to play a lot when we were younger. Before duties called.”
You nodded, silently escorting him out of the kitchen. You could already feel Airi’s gaze burning holes at the back of your head. “How is Iris, by the way? I don’t think I’ve seen her around.”
“She said she wasn’t feeling well, so she’s been holed up in bed ever since,” informed Kiyoomi, scratching his cheek in thought. “Did she have a fight with Rin?”
“No, I don’t think so. I think… it’s because Rintaro is ignoring her, and she might be upset about that,” wrinkling your nose, you raised both hands in the air as a form of surrender. “But let’s not talk about unpleasant things. How was your trip to Itachiyama? And Kanami! How is she? I didn’t get to properly say goodbye to her last time.”
Kiyoomi’s lip twitched with amusement. “She’s fine, just a little mad that I took you home without informing her beforehand. She really wanted to spend more time with you.”
I didn’t want to leave either, you almost told him, biting back your tongue at the last moment.
Finding yourself alone with the older Prince, the air thickened with unspoken tension. A palpable static seemed to crackle between you two. Every glance exchanged was laden with unvoiced words, and every accidental touch sent a jolt of electricity through you. He stood close to you, his presence comforting and warm, yet an invisible barrier held you apart – neither brave enough to bridge the gap.
Your heart raced as you felt the weight of his presence beside you, the magnetic pull urging you closer. The silence was almost deafening – filled with the potential of what could be said, yet the fear of breaking it kept you mute.
Finally, Kiyoomi, with a nervous swallow and a shy, almost boyish smile, broke the silence.
“How was the meeting with Kuroo?” he began, his voice soft but trembling with the same tension you felt.
You told him everything without a detail to spare. Your words were hushed, voice barely above a whisper in case anyone accidentally walked in on you. Kiyoomi nodded as he took everything in, the tension on his shoulders increasing. “I see. Has he contacted you ever since?”
“The last message I got from him was from a few days ago. He says he’s got everything he needs – he’s just waiting for the green light.”
“So we’re just waiting for him to drop the bomb.”
“Practically, yes,” you agreed, when an idea formed in your head. Clapping your hands together, you tugged at Kiyoomi’s sleeve. “Actually, could you come with me? I wanted to show you something.”
Kiyoomi wasn’t able to say his response before you’re dragging him upstairs. You already knew the house like the back of your hand, confident you could navigate through it even with your eyes closed. Once you’d reached your destination, you swung the doors open – arms outstretched to show it off. “This is my reading corner, a library of sorts. And here–” you led him to a wall you’d intentionally kept empty, “–is your corner.”
“My corner?”
“Yes, you know, like how everyone has their own space in your library back at the farmhouse.”
“That’s a family house. This is your house with your husband.”
“Rintaro bought it because he wanted to have a safe space with his family, and you’re his brother. That makes you my family too, doesn’t it?”
Your smile was warm, sincere and elated upon presenting him his ‘corner.’ Kiyoomi couldn’t blame you for not noticing the fleeting hurt in his eyes, his disappointment quickly masked with a practiced, cordial nod.
“Family. Right,” he echoed, “I’ll make sure to add my own things someday here. Thank you.”
“FUCK YEAH!” roared Atsumu from below. All too quickly, the moment is broken. You and Kiyoomi stepped away from each other, both releasing a breath you didn’t noticed you held.
“I should go–”
“Of course,” Kiyoomi agreed, his nods a tad too hurried. He’s looking at everywhere but you now. “I’ll follow in a bit.”
You were hesitant to leave. It’d felt like forever since you’d last spoken to Kiyoomi. Ever since that night your call did not push through when Rintaro chased after you, Kiyoomi had been restless. He’d text you every morning and night, without fail, to reassure himself you did not come to harm. He was sweet – undeniably so – and it felt like a waste. Everything did. You couldn’t spend time with him, or speak to him freely like you did in Itachiyama anymore. Here, in Inarizaki, the cameras devoured everything you and Rintaro did.
It came without question you’d unknowingly distanced yourself from the Second Prince.
With a heart heavy of doubt, you exited the room. The last you saw of Kiyoomi was him slouched over his corner, his eyes closed and his head resting on his arm.
You skipped down the stairs, careful of the ankle-length of your sundress. The living room was already a mess when you got there – Atsumu was shaking Wakatoshi awake by the shoulders, screaming that he’d won against ‘stupid Tooru.’ Tooru, on the other hand, was being comforted by his wife, a pout permanent on his face.
“Hey,” an arm wrapped itself around your waist. Tensing, you quickly smiled when you saw it was just Rintaro – now dressed in a plain white button-up, the top three buttons left open to cool himself.
“Hey back.”
“Why didn’t you watch me play?”
You almost laughed at him. It was a comical sight – your tall husband slouching and pouting like a kicked puppy. Shaking your head at him, you let him pull you into an embrace, his arms engulfing you completely. You’re wholly warm like this, his head on top of yours, your cheek on his warm chest that’s still slightly damp with sweat.
“We have guests over, Rin. I have to make sure everyone’s settled.”
“But I played good,” he whines above you, his head dipping to playfully nibble at your ear. Rintaro crushes you in the embrace, your bodies pressed close enough that the growing tent in his trousers poked you through your sundress. Breath hitching, your tilted your neck to give him more access – warily looking out for onlookers. Thankfully, his brothers were all occupied with searching for snacks.
“I’m not inviting my brothers over next time. They take up too much of your attention.”
“Don’t be weird,” you teased, “I’m all yours tonight.”
Tipping your chin to look him in the eye, Rintaro presses a tender kiss at the insides of your wrist. “All mine for a lifetime, hopefully.”
“We’re married. I don’t think we have much of a choice in that aspect.”
When Rintaro smiled, his whole face lit up, his teeth flashing wickedly. Squeezing your waist, his eyes took in the warm, golden lights of your house. The bustling noise his brothers made, and the aroma of dinner being prepared. “We really outdid ourselves, huh. This place turned out better than I expected.”
You patted his firm stomach. “Should we all celebrate with some dinner?”
Nodding, Rintaro pressed a kiss to your forehead before disappearing in the kitchen. Atsumu followed not long after, complaining that ‘Samu was taking ‘too darned long’ preparing his food. You can’t help the smile making its way into your face. Rintaro was right; you really outdid yourselves. The night was a success – everyone was happy, and it finally felt like everything was normal.
“Nee-chan,” Tobio appeared before you, a towel wrapped around his neck. His grin is bright, cheeks flushed from the game and still breathing heavily. “Thank you for the party. I don’t think I’ve had this much fun before.”
“I’m glad you’re enjoying yourself, Tobio,” you beamed at him, watching from behind him as Wakatoshi shook his head at all the noise his brothers made – not missing the way his lips curled just the slightest when his son joined in on the joyous atmosphere.
“You should teach me how to play volleyball someday.”
“Of course!” Tobio said, a little eagerly. Just then, his eyes dimmed, his smile wavering as he approached you, a hand cupped at the sides of his mouth. “But sis… are you sure you’re okay with Rintaro? He seems oddly clingy to you today. If he bothers you, let me know, okay? I’ll beat him up. I’ll ask Shinsuke-nii to help me too–”
“Calm down. No one’s getting beaten up today. Let’s just enjoy dinner, alright?”
Tobio sulked, his shoulders closing in together with a frown. However, all that disappeared when Osamu and Airi appeared with dinner. Within minutes, all of you were situated in the long table. Everyone dug in, a mumbled ‘thanks’ and a quick prayer led by Wakatoshi.
Beside you, Rintaro squeezed your thigh before standing up. The scraping of his chair alerted everyone – multiple pairs of heads turning your way as he raised a glass.
“I wanted to make a toast – to thank everyone for coming despite their busy schedules. This home – our home – means the world to me, and there’s no one else but family who I’d rather share this moment with. I want to thank my wife, too, for bringing light into my life,” he gestured your way, causing a bout of sniggers coming from Atsumu. You rolled your eyes and decided to ignore him. “Also, I am very happy to announce that the scandal has been officially cleared. The writer of that article has left the country, and the media is no longer attacking me. I am officially an honorable man again.”
“To honor?” Osamu raised his wine with a snort, and everyone glared at him. “Oh, my bad, I thought that’s what we were toasting for.”
“Osamu,” warned Shinsuke.
“To good memories,” you announced, followed by a chorus of echoes, “And to family.” Pointing your drink in Kiyoomi’s way, the Prince raised his drink, his small smile hidden behind the glass.
“To family.”
As twilight deepened into night, the garden lights twinkled like stars, and the gathering moved inside to the cozy warmth of the living room. Stories and laughter continued late into the evening, the house filled with the comforting sounds of family and the promise of many more cherished moments to come.
It was a night of celebration, not just of a new home, but of the bonds that made it a true haven—a place where love, laughter, and the warmth of family would forever reside.
It was a moment you would cherish while it lasted.
Everyone headed straight for the wine cellar after dinner.
It caused a ruckus – half of the Princes were passed out drunk in their rooms, while the rest stayed up playing Mario Kart. It had been Tobio’s idea, and with Rintaro eagerly joining in, it soon turned into the competitive bout it was now. Whoever lost would skinny dip in the pool without turning the heater on.
You shook your head at their antics.
You cleaned up after everyone, Maiko and Camilla apologizing that they wanted to tend to their drunk husbands and couldn’t help. You quickly waved them away, unbothered. If anything, you appreciated how the noise slowly dissipated – leaving you alone with Kiyoomi who’d volunteered to help clean up. The silence is comfortable as you maneuvered around the dining room.
“Your Highness!” exclaimed Airi, wiping her hands on her apron as she rushed to you both. “Please, leave that behind, I’ll take care of it!”
As gently as you could, you snatched back the wet rug from her hands. “Airi, darling, you can go ahead and rest. I’ll take over here.”
“Oh but Princess, I could never! I’ll clean everything up–”
Kiyoomi smiled at her. “It’s okay, Airi. I’m sure Shinsukes been dying to talk to you, too,” Airi flushed red, causing the Prince to rumble in laughter beside you. “Go. We’ll handle this.”
“T-Thank you.”
Airi dashed upstairs, sending you both one last grateful glance before disappearing.
Guilt washed over you at the sight of her. Airi and Kita seemed to be happy together, but you knew the harsh reality that the chances of them working out were low. Not only was she a maid, but she had completely nothing to her name – no family, no college degree, and had a mouth that required dire control. At least here in the privacy of your home, they would receive no criticism, but as soon as you all returned home to the Palace… you sighed.
You couldn’t tell whether you were comforted at the thought you were not the only one suffering when it came to love.
You’re elbow deep in the sink washing the dishes, Kiyoomi at your side silently wiping the plates, when you remembered an empty seat at the table. “Iris didn’t come down for dinner. Should I bring her some leftovers?”
Kiyoomi grumbled, uninterested. “I’m sure she’ll come around once she’s hungry, and that should be soon. She’s had a mad appetite lately.”
Speaking of the devil, a light tap came from the countertops. You whipped your head at the soft, lilting voice. Iris stood a few feet away from you, a basket covered with red cloth held in front of her stomach. She looked sheepish; her brown hair falling down her in graceful waves, but her eyes were red and swollen, as if she’d been crying the entire time.
You snuck a glance at Kiyoomi, questioning, but he merely shrugged, turning his back to her and resuming with his task.
“Your Highness. May I speak with you?” her eyes darted to her husband’s figure, shifting from foot to foot. “Alone?”
“Of course. Excuse me for a moment,” bowing to Kiyoomi, you quickly washed your hands and followed Iris. She led you past the living room and out to the pools. The Princes’ shouts and banters became nothing but background noise. There, Iris situated herself in the picnic table under the willow tree, tucking her hair behind her ear.
“What is it you wanted to talk about?”
She nudged the basket your way, lifting the red cloth to reveal… pastries? “I baked these cookies for you this morning before we left the Palace. Please, have some. Consider it my peace offering.”
You fell silent. Mouth opening and closing as you searched for the right words, you settled for a forced smile. “Thank you. That’s very kind of you.”
Iris gnawed on her lip, and dragged her chair closer to you. Much to your surprise, her hands landed on your knee, her big, green eyes pleading. “Listen, Princess, I know we got off on the wrong footing, and I really want to put that behind us and start new.”
“Uh,” you blinked back, “O-Okay?”
“I’m sorry for everything. I really am. I didn’t mean for Rintaro’s lies to drag on and go this far, and if you must know, I never supported him on his plan–”
“Why?” you didn’t mean for your words to come out harsh. But it did, and you tilted your head to the side, oddly calm as you asked, “Why don’t you support him? Don’t you want to be his?”
Iris’ bravado faltered for a minute.
“I-I did at one point. It gets tiring having to hide your relationship, you know? But his plans seemed too absurd to me, and it sounded impossible that he could achieve it.”
“Do you think he’s not fit to be King?”
“That’s not what I said.”
“It’s what you implied,” you reiterated, scanning her face for answers – for the truth – when realization dawned on you. Leaning back, you flicked her hands away from your lap, lips curling in distaste. “You look down on him, Iris. You don’t think he’s a capable Prince at all.”
Iris clenched her jaw in an attempt to bite back a retort. “He has his many great qualities, but sometimes the Crown Prince loses touch of what is real and what is not,” she said, her placid tone betraying the fire burning in her eyes. “This is why I’m hoping we can be friends and start anew, Princess. I’m letting you know I’m breaking up with Rin. In fact, we have not been talking as of lately–”
“You fucked him in my bed lately. Do you really expect I would believe you?”
Her gaze was ice cold as it cut to you. “That was months ago, and he was the one who brought me there.”
“Let’s say he did. But who’s to say you did not seduce him beforehand?”
“He said his room felt lonely without you there, and he brought me for company. Don’t you realize, Princess? Your husband longs for you more than you know.”
Unable to help it, you chortled out a laugh. “What, are you saying he loves me?”
“He might,” she gritted her teeth, “But he needs to get over me first. That’s why I’m letting him go – you’re a kind person and you don’t deserve to be treated as second best. I’m putting my heart aside so you can finally enjoy your marriage.”
Your jaw dropped. “You’re doing this for me? How very benevolent of you, Princess.”
“It’s really not that hard to believe I want you to be happy.”
You shook your head, refusing to believe it was this easy. “Why the sudden change of heart? Is it because you couldn’t handle being called a slut by everyone?”
“I am not a slut, nor am I a homewrecker. He loved me first, don’t you forget that,” she spat out, her words laced with poison. It had you narrowing your eyes at her, and the Princess cowered for a moment, dropping her gaze down her lap as she stumbled over what to say next. “But the truth is… I never loved him. Or if I did, it wasn’t to the point where I would throw away my marriage to him. I want stability, Your Highness, and my union with Kiyoomi provided me that. Stability, security, and power – I have it all. There’s nothing more I could possibly want.”
“Then why were you sleeping with my husband?”
Iris shut her eyes, her hands balled into fists at her lap. “Because my husband wasn’t around. He avoided me like the plague during the early stages of our marriage, and the Palace is too big a place for someone like me. I’m human, too. I got lonely. You cannot blame me for seeking out the warmth of another. He wasn’t yours during those times, so you can’t put this over our heads again and again.”
“You were using him,” you stated, shooting up from your seat. Kiyoomi had told you about it. Hell, even Maiko had an inkling their relationship was nothing but exploitative on Iris’ part, but hearing it coming from her – hearing how she used your husband like he was a mere toy or puppet for her to play with as she pleases… your blood boiled.
“You knew Rintaro was in love with you, and you took advantage of that. How could you?”
“Because he was there when no one else was.”
You stood rigidly, trying to quell the storm brewing within you. Fixing your gaze on the horizon, you avoided Iris’s eyes, afraid that even a fleeting glance would betray the torrent of emotions you fought to contain. Each breath was a deliberate effort to maintain your composure, your mind a battlefield of unspoken accusations and restrained fury.
Despite the turmoil, you held yourself with regal poise.
“I think I’m going to have a drink,” you decided, sending one last forced smile her way. “Care for some?”
Color drained from the Princess’ face. “No, I-I’m laying off the drinks for a while. I’ve never been a drinker anyway.”
You watched Iris from the corner of your eye, noting how she subtly used her arms to hug her stomach, her movements slow and deliberate. Since arriving at the beach house, Iris had looked unusually pale and sickly, her vitality drained. She kept her distance from Rintaro, a fact that hadn’t gone unnoticed by everyone.
A wild thought flickered through your mind – could Iris be pregnant?
You quickly dismissed the idea, shaking your head, but the possibility lingered – filling you with a growing sense of dread. The realization settled in her chest like a heavy stone, the implications threating to unravel the fragile ‘peace’ between you all.
“Hmm.” You dug your nails to your palm, licking your lips as you tried to still your beating heart. “I think I’ll head to bed soon. Good night, Iris.”
“Princess,” Iris called out from where she sat, her beautiful face crestfallen and desperate. “Have you forgiven me? Can we be friends?”
“I’ll think about it.”
You headed back inside the house, your breathing growing shallower with each step you took. Faintly, you heard Rintaro’s concerned voice calling after you. You paid him no mind, taking two steps at a time as you pushed open the door to their shared bedroom.
Kiyoomi was already inside, in the middle of taking off his wristwatch when you came bustling in. Your name fell on his lips. You ignored him, too, heading for the bed with crumpled sheets from where Iris must’ve slept. You threw the pillows on the ground, the blankets balled and discarded to the side, as you looked for something – searched for answers. Her belongings all came crashing to the ground as you picked it apart one by one, hauling her suitcase from the drawer before kicking it to the floor.
“Princess,” Kiyoomi sounded worried, his hands coming up to reach for you when you slapped it away. Concern flashed over his face, more so when he saw the tears welling up in your eyes. “What’s wrong? What are you doing?”
“She’s hiding something. I know it.”
It didn’t take much effort to open her suitcase. Clothes, shoes, her makeup bag – you emptied it of its contents and felt around for any hidden zippers. None. It was empty, save for some unused tampons scattering right beneath your feet.
Your vision began to grow blurry.
Pushing past Kiyoomi, you dashed for the bathroom and knelt on the ground, opening the trash bin and digging through the heap of dry paper towels. You stared at it, confused. Why throw away perfectly good and unused napkins? Determined, you flipped the bin upside down. A white, thin object fell on the ground with a soft clink.
You reached for it with shaky hands.
It was a pregnancy test – one that read positive.
Behind you, you heard Kiyoomi’s sharp inhale. “It’s not mine,” his words faded into the background, “I never touched her.”
When you found the strength to speak, your voice came out weak and cracked.
“…I know you’re not the father.”

"AITA for asking my girlfriend to be quieter during a practice match?"
masterlist
So, I (18M) play volleyball on my university team, and recently, my girlfriend (18F) came to watch one of our practices matches during summer break. She is super supportive and enthusiastic, which I really appreciate, but it is… a lot sometimes. I understand that official matches are full of cheering but it makes me feel weird whenever she cheers for me at practice matches. No one has ever cheered for me, only her and my brother. I don’t know if telling her to maybe be a bit quieter would make me an asshole. Don’t get me wrong, I love that she supports me, but I’m not a big fan of public displays of affection.
AITA for asking her to be quieter during a practice match?
The bright overhead lights gleamed off the polished gym floor, casting sharp reflections as the volleyball bounced rhythmically across the court. Although it was a practice match between old friends and other people from university during the hot summer break, the gym was packed with people interested in watching the players.
The squeaks of sneakers and the crisp thwack of the ball being spiked filled the air alongside the cheers and murmuring of people. Tsukishima stood near the net, focused but undeniable distracted by the cute little cheerleader he had on the bleachers. His sharp, golden eyes flickered towards the bleachers, where his girlfriend (Y/N) sat, proudly holding a large homemade sign she made at his apartment that read “Go Tsukki!” filled with bright colored and hearts adorning the edges. Next to her, some of her classmates looked at her, smiling and giggling at her chants.
Decked out in his old number 3 Karasuno jersey (he still didn’t have a spare one from university to give her), (Y/N) was the loudest of all the people and her enthusiastic cheering drew the attention of almost everyone, including Kuroo and Bokuto, who came to play with Tsukishima after not seeing each other for months.
Tsukishima felt a growing warmth creep into his cheeks, despite the cold, calm expression he tried to maintain. He was not one for PDA, he was okay with a bit of hand holding and a quick kiss if people weren't around, but he didn’t like this kind of attention.
"Looks like Tsukki’s got himself a superfan," Bokuto said with a wide grin as he jogged past, loud enough for half the team to hear.
Kuroo, who was standing by the sidelines watching the match, smirked in amusement. "How adorable. His personal cheerleader." Tsukishima clicked his tongue in irritation, his gaze darting away from the bleachers, trying to focus back on the match.
"Shut up," he muttered under his breath, though the growing smirk on Kuroo’s face told him it was already too late to avoid the teasing. He knew that they weren’t saying it to anger him, but he still felt a bit annoyed at their comments.
Tsukishima adjusted his glasses as if it would help hide the faint blush creeping up his neck. His eyes couldn’t help but drift back to (Y/N) every so often, her cheers as loud as ever and she, noticing he was looking at her, sent him a wink his way which didn't help his focus at all.
After what felt like an eternity of enduring Kuroo’s teasing, the match finally came to an end. The whistle blew, and everyone began packing up, sweat still clinging to their skin from the hard work.
Tsukishima wasted no time walking over to (Y/N), who had hopped down from the bleachers, her sign still tucked under one arm.
"Tsukki!" (Y/N) greeted him brightly, "You were amazing out there!"
"Baby… Can you…?” Tsukishima muttered. "I love you but hearing you cheer that loud on a practice match and wearing my old jersey distracts me.”
(Y/N)’s smile widened for a moment. "Oh… Do I make you nervous, pretty boy?”
Before Tsukishima could reply, face completely red at the nickname, Kuroo and Bokuto strolled over, grinning like cats that had found the best toy to play with.
"Hey, hey, hey! When are you going to cheer like that for me, (Y/N)?” Bokuto chimed in, eyes gleaming. "So cute!"
"Look at that blush, Bokuto," Kuroo added with wonder, patting Tsukishima’s back. “We should get him a fan club at this rate."
Tsukishima glared at the two, cheeks flushing deeper as he pushed up his glasses. "I don’t need more cheerleaders. Can’t you two go bother someone else?“
"Oh no, this is too good," Kuroo laughed. "You are lucky, man! I think I’m a little jealous, honestly."
"Me too!" Bokuto added dramatically, throwing his hands up. "Where’s my cheering section? I need a sign like that. Maybe with lightning bolts around my name."
Tsukishima rolled his eyes, putting an arm around (Y/N)’s shoulder, not enjoying that comment Bokuto made about her cheering for him. "You're just jealous because no one’s out there cheering for you."
Kuroo and Bokuto paused, mock horror flashing across their faces. "Ouch," Kuroo groaned, clutching his chest in fake pain. "Harsh, Tsukki."
"Too real, man," Bokuto whined, throwing his arm around Kuroo’s shoulders in exaggerated sorrow. "Guess we’ll just have to cry ourselves to sleep tonight."
(Y/N) giggled beside Tsukishima, trying to stifle their laughter at the playful banter. Seeing (Y/N) laugh made Tsukishima’s heart feel lighter, knowing she was not hurt by his comment about her cheering being distracting.
Kuroo noticed the subtle change and nudged Bokuto. "Looks like he’s got something we don’t, eh, Bokuto?"
"Totally," Bokuto sighed dramatically. "True love."
Tsukishima groaned, glaring at both of them. "Alright, that’s enough."
As Kuroo and Bokuto strolled away, still chuckling, Tsukishima turned back to (Y/N). The teasing may have embarrassed him, but standing here, looking at her with that bright smile, he found himself feeling something else too. He cleared his throat, still uncomfortable with expressing these things out loud, even after a year of dating.
"Thanks… for coming today," he said quietly, his voice just loud enough for them to hear. "I mean, I love when you cheer for me but… Makes me feel weird in public. I appreciate everything you do for me and I love when you are here. Just…”
(Y/N) smiled warmly, eyes softening at his rare moment of honesty. "I get it and don’t worry. I’ll chill, especially in practice matches but I can’t make promises when it comes to real matches. And of course, I will never forget the fact that you said that I distract you from practice.”
“I can deal with that.” Tsukishima smiled, glancing around. Taking a deep breath, he quickly leaned in, brushing two light kisses against (Y/N)’s lips. He pulled back, pink flush spreading against his cheeks.
(Y/N) blinked in surprise, then smiled even brighter, hugging him for just a few seconds. “You stink.”
“Guess we should shower.”
“We?”
(Y/N) laughed as Tsukishima nodded. As they finally headed out of the gym, he glanced down at her once away. Maybe he could handle a little teasing from his teammates if it meant seeing her this happy. Just a little.

truth or dare?
summary: kuroo has a very special dare for you...
kenma x reader
"y/n! truth or dare?" kuroo yelled, pointing his finger at you.
you didn't hesitate for a moment. "dare."
the circled ooooo-ed as kuroo thought really hard about what he wanted your dare to be.
after around a minute had passed, he looked up at you with a devious smirk that sent shivers down your spine.
"i dare you..." he started, "to kiss your crush on the cheek."
the nekoma volleyball team gasped and began to murmur among themselves.
"y/n's crush?"
"lucky bastard!"
"i bet it's me."
"no, it's not."
whilst the team was trying to figure out who the mystery guy could possibly be, you were just sitting there, sending a nasty death glare to kuroo while he just grinned at you like a cheshire cat.
"what if my crush isn't here?" you challenged.
"he is."
louder oooo's filled the room as they tried to guess who it could be, not bothering trying to be quiet about it now.
"it's probably kai, the lucky bastard!"
"no, no, it's definitely me!"
"lev, shut up."
"who the hell is it?! i'll fight him!"
"yamamoto."
"yep, yaku-san."
"hey kenma," yamamoto called out to the fake blonde sitting outside the circle on his game boy, "who do you think it is?"
he blinked. "think what is?"
"you little- haven't you been listening? y/n's crush. he's in the room." he tsked, putting extra enunciation on the words "y/n's crush."
your cheeks turned mad red and you instantly tried to defend yourself. "he might not be!"
"he is."
"kuroo, you little-!" *SMACK*
"ow! that huuuurt y/n-chan!"
kenma turned his attention back to his game as you held your breath. "dunno. it doesn't really affect me."
your heart sank.
yamamoto sighed. "how kenma of you. this is a big deal!"
but it would affect him. because if you went on with the dare, his cheek would be the one meeting your lips. but if he didn't care, that definitely meant that he didn't reciprocate. then again, kenma remained indifferent about a majority of topics, even ones he was interested in, so just maybe? but it was unlikely, and you really didn't want to ruin your friendship with him when it only started a year ago.
"moving on," kuroo interrupted, wanting to get on with it, "our precious manager-chan here has to complete the dare."
"i'd kick you in the balls if i wasn't so nice." you snarled.
he just grinned in response.
you sighed, knowing that there really wasn't away out of this.
"ok, everyone has to close their eyes."
"what?"
"why?"
"man.."
"everyone has to close their eyes for my pride and privacy. close your eyes, guys. if you open them, you'll be betraying my trust and i would hate you."
everyone gasped. no one wanted that. so, they all complied with your wishes, including kenma, even though he wasn't really playing.
when all the eyes were closed, you tiptoed over to kuroo to whisper a "i really hate you for this. i trusted you with that info, man. now, thanks to you, my friendship with him might be ruined forever. i'm seriously mad at you, kuroo."
you meant it. you were actually really scared for what might happen with kenma. you confided in kuroo so that he could find out what kenma thought of you for you with the condition that he not tell a soul, but he refused to tell you anything when you asked about what kenma said about you, so it ended up being a worthless exchange.
you then tiptoed around the circle, stomping your feet, stopping, and making kissy noises occasionally to try to ensure that they didn't know who it was.
finally, you made a loud smooch in the air right above kenma, and then, heart pounding out of your chest, you leaned down and gave him a gentle peck to the cheek.
you took a second to analyze his reaction, and you noticed an immediate change in the color of his ears. he quickly pulled his hood over them to cover it up, and slowly, his pretty eyes fluttered open. he gave you a small, shy smile before averting his gaze, a flustered look on his face.
that reaction was...good, right?
you walked around the circle once more for good measure, standing extra long in certain spots to ensure that the team wouldn't know.
finally, you returned to your spot in the circle.
"open your eyes."
the team's eyes shot open and they quickly started trying to figure out who the lucky boy was.
"kai, be honest. was it you?"
"no, it wasn't."
"don't lie!"
"i can't believe it wasn't me..."
"lev, the only certainty we had about who it was was that it wasn't you."
while everyone was trying to figure it out, you looked up at kenma, who was already staring at you. you quickly averted your gaze before returning back to him.
he gave you a smile that released a whole butterfly farm in your stomach and gently formed a phone signal with his hand before mouthing, "call me."
i guess you wouldn't be too mad at kuroo.

Being Team Japan’s Manager:
Miss Manager is Great with Kids
Team Japan x Female Manager (she/her)
Warnings: swearing, obviously kids (sometimes they are scary 🫣)
Request here
AN: I apologize if this isn’t the best 😅
You know what’s really funny YN?
The similarities between being Team Japan’s manager and working in a preschool
Honestly it’s pretty much the same thing
Iwa drops the kids off for their morning practice
Yaku yells at them, scolding them for not playing nicely with the other team members
You have to remind them to eat and take bathroom breaks
Essentially, the same 💅
Which is why your transition from teaching to being team Japan’s manager was so easy
The guys 👉🏻 instantly love you
Was there really any doubt?
Of course, some of them *cough* ATSUMU *cough* HOSHIUMI *cough* make it their life goals to be hard on you
You can’t tell me they aren’t annoying and finicky about literally everything 🙄
But once again, it’s fine because you’ve dealt with snotty, marker covered kids pretty much your entire life
Literally these guys have nothing on a group of 3 year olds
The guys never really asked much about your previous job, not really caring much about where you came from before you started with them
Aran would occasionally bring up the subject but you’d just shrug, answering, “a little of this, a little of that.”
Let’s be honest, there’s no conversation that doesn’t involve volleyball lasting for more than 5 seconds in the Gym
Especially with Atsumu, Kageyama, Hinata and Bokuto
Guys really think that other occupations don’t even compare to Volleyball so why waste the time talking about it
However 👀 the boys would soon find out just how much they should have asked about your prior employment
Because you see, Kuroo had a little something up his sleeve to help promote Team Japan
“Come again?” Asked Gao
“A kids camp! Ages 4 to 9!” Kuroo excitedly explained
“Count me out,” Sakusa groaned
“You really think it’s a good idea for little kids to be running around while we practice?” Kageyama questioned
“Well you would t be practicing, it would strictly be for the kids,” Kuroo responded
“NO PRACTICE!” Screamed Atsumu, Kageyama, Hinata and Bokuto in unison
Iwa narrowed his eyes as you tried to keep a straight face, “listen here, if you don’t participate, I’ll have coach bench you and give your number up!”
The group immediately straightened up as Kuroo smirked
“Maybe it won’t be so bad? I mean it’s only for a couple hours right?” Komori responded
The guys all nodded as you tried your best to keep your composure
A week later, the camp was underway and let’s just say, it was going about as well as Seijoh’s chances of going to nationals 🫠
“Oh my go- gosh!” Atsumu shouted, stopping himself again from nearly letting out a bad word in front of the children
“These kids are actually feral!” Hoshiumi screamed, trying to wrangle two kids who were throwing volleyballs up into the bleachers
“I thought these kids were suppose to like volleyball!?!” Aran asked
“I never said that,” Kuroo chimed in, as he and Akaashi watched form the sidelines
Akaashi was there to do a special report on the teams event as well as take in the free entertainment
Bokuto and Hinata were rolling around on the floor, attempting (huge emphasis on ATTEMPT) to show the kids receiving
Sakusa was sitting with a group of kids who were “too cool” for this
Ushiwaka had already made 3 kids cry just by walking up to them
Iwa had left to cool down because he was at his breaking point
And you, well you had seen enough
Suddenly, Kuroo watched as you grab the microphone and headed to the middle of the gym
“Hey kids, who wants to see a professional athlete serve?” You shouted as all the kids (yes I’m including the athletes) looked over at you
Suddenly, screams and shouts filled the air as all the kids flocked towards you
The guys, Kuroo and Akaashi, included all watched in wonder
“Ok we all need to sit in the chairs because this guys serves can be either really good or really bad. Atsumu, show them!”
Atsumu rn 👉🏻👁️👄👁️ HEY MY SERVES ARENT BAD!
“I’d say it’s 50/50,” Sakusa chimed in as Atsumu growled
“Hey how come I don’t get to show them my serves Yn?” Kageyama grumbles
“Tobio you’ll get a chance just calm down and wait your turn ok?”
After the show of serves, you again grabbed the kids attention
“Ok so who wants to try spiking??” You ask as a million tiny hands shoot up
“Ok everyone get in line, littlest to oldest, and we will all get a chance to practice!”
You made your way to the nets, team and children following you like little ducks as you began to coordinate
Iwa watched in awe as your skills, impressed at your ability to manage such a wide age range
I mean 💅 this is Yn Iwa, what did you expect?
After the event, the kids all came up to you after getting their autographs and gave you a big hug
“Thanks so much Miss Yn!” They all smiled as they ran to their parents
“YN why didn’t you tell us you were good with kids?” Yaku asked
You just shrugged, “it never came up.”
“I mean it makes sense, look how good she is with the other idiots,” Iwa said, nodding over to the feral group
“OMG YN THAT WAS SO FUN! Can we do that again??” Bokuto screamed, jumping up and down
“We deal with enough children daily so no,” Sakusa said, turning to leave going to the locker room
“What kids- HEY WHAT THE HELL OMI??” Atsumu yelled
You just smiled, knowing your boys were the best kids around 😌

nothing more, nothing less
warnings: angst no happy ending, rushed ,not proof read, and english not first language!
word count: 1.4k
A/N: hope this makes sense!
you couldn't believe how quickly they let everything go to their heads. what would the point in staying if you obviously had no opinion on the matter.
once school was over you went down to the gym like you did every afternoon for the past couple months. but before meeting with the team you went to the girls locker room to go change. into your tracksuits to be more comfy.
you noticed that someone elses school clothes are there. didn’t have much time to dwell about it since you did have to go to the gym quickly. you left then heard some small commotion coming from the gym so you did a quick sprint to go see whats its about. when you got there, some of the team surrounded another person.
but of couse kenma did not join the group but just stood the side and kuroo following his lead.
“hey guys whats the big fuss.” they both looked at you and kuroo began to speak. “im pretty sure we got a new manger.” now the clothes in the locker room made sense. “ohh so who is she?” you replied. “not sure, haven't gotten a chance to ask since you see the team is very excited.”kuroo started to get just a little bit annoyed by now. “i'm guessing she's very pretty then. kenma doesn't look too happy.” you express.
“i just want this over with and go home already.” typically of him. so you call the team over to start practice. “guys!! come on we have to get to practice you can meet the new manger later on your own time.” the rest of them awed, and finally got started.
the new manager came over to the sideline and you two started a conversation. she was a first year student and named airi. she was a cute girl as far as you can tell. but also a very pretty girl. break time came, you went to go show how to prepare the teams waters.
“[name] wouldn't it be easier to make the teams waters all the same?” airi questioned. “yeah it would be, but i think as much they work hard so this is my way of just helping them” and it's true they work hard and you just wanted them to know that they care and sees them for the great team they are. as you go back to the gym to hand them their waters they are trying to get to the newly manager. even kuroo was joining in the fun.
“kenma, you’re not gonna go over there and try to intoduce yourself?” you asked him. “no not right now, they’re all gooning over her. plus i think you’re better no matter what.” he shrugged. you and kemna were mutuals growing up. you two didn't have anything to talk about when we went over to his house.
not like you wanted to be there. your mother missed her friend so you were at kenma’s house more than often. It was only the year before you and him went to middle school that you talked. thanks to kuroo who wanted to include you as much as possible. you two met by accident when he came over to drag kenma to play with him. but found awkward people dying of silence.
whenever you tried to ask kuroo why he even invited you to things when you barely knew him. and ever more so tried to make a friendship between two people bloom when there was a 50% of it failing. he just always said. “i just had a feeling and went with it” and you are glad he did because he and kenma are the most important people in your life.
break time was over and they resumed back to practice. before you knew it was over. everyone does their part and puts everything away. it seems as if they were trying to get it over with instead of complaining about it like usual. once they were done they practically trampled the new manager. “guys! how are you ever let her speak if you never let her get a chance too?” kuroo had yelled at the team.
“yeah, let the poor girl say something you vultures,” you pointed out. “haven't you noticed that she hasn't even gotten a sentence in.” they realized their mistake and let her talk. she had answered all the questions she could remember being basically being thrown at her. when all of them realized that she wasn't walking home in any of their directions they had all dramatically sighed.
“[name] lets go home already there is no point in staying any more.” kenma whined a bit just wanting to go home and play his games. “okay, kurro! come on, let's go home!” you waved him down as he was talking to the others. the three of you walked home like any other day.
“man, that new manger really has the team wrapped around her finger.” kurro stated. “yeah no kidding, poor girl she was helpless against the rest.” you laughed. to be far it took you some time for the rest of the team to warm up to you. you guess that they've been around you so much they didn't waste time getting to know her.
“kenma, whatcha think? you think she was that cute.” kurro teased him. “she’s okay i guess i wasn't really paying attention.” spoken in true kenma from. you and kurro talked the rest of the way back home and kenma saying a few words here and there. once you were home you went to bed and slept soundly.
it had been two months since airi came to the team and she fit in really well. a bit too well if you asked yourself. you noticed how everyone would treat you like you newbie almost. it was starting to become unfair. first, they had asked airi if she could make their water now on.
then, it was them only spending them with her. you couldn't help feel jealous, like who wouldn’t? the one that hurt most was with kenma. it had taken you years to get close to him.
now she's all buddy-buddy with him. to be honest you did start acting a bit rude. you just couldn't take it anymore. being treated like they barely knew you hurt.
airi had asked you if you would do something for her. you replied a bit harshly. “yeah, sure whatever.” kurro didn't like your little outburst and told you to be more nicely. how embarrassing being told off but kurro when you didn't do anything wrong? you're just in a bad mood, that's all. but that bad mood will stay for a while.
getting worse after kenma and kurro telling you they couldn't hang out because they were already out with airi. what a joke you’ve obviously been replaced. when you told your concerns to them once you three finally hanged out. they brushed you off and told you not to worry.
your breaking point had come and one day when airi came into the locker room you snapped. you told her off but nothing too serious. she left the room crying, you stood there thinking about what you just did. you ran after her but it was too late she had already told the team.
they all looked at you, you didn’t know what to say the air was heavy. “hey look airi im sorry..” you said sincerely. “[name] sorry isn’t enough is it true were you about to hit her?” kurro stopped you mid sentence. “what..? what are you talking about..” confused and scared about what they are thinking about you.
of course she blew it out of proportion. that’s not fair. nothing, it's fair. you guess all this time you were just a team manager. because they aren’t even letting you talk. when coach came he was filled in and unfortunately he had to suspend you from participating in team management. kenma went to go talk to you to see what even happened.
“[name], why would you even raise your hand at
her. she didn’t do anything.”
“kenma are you really saying that you believe her? i didn’t try to hit her! don’t you believe me?”
“well you have been acting kinda rude to her and us the last couple of weeks.”
“wow you don’t even know why i’ve been acting like this even when i told you too?” you were hurt at that statement.
“don’t be like that, you were just jealous.” he calmly replied.
“jealous?! no i’ve been angry that i’ve seem like i’ve been replaced! you know what kenma this isn’t worth my time.” and with that you left. you didn’t bother coming back after. your suspension from the team. it was clear to you who they believed.
hey!! this is my first fic in a while sorry it’s rushed but i just need to get this out to get my motivation started.

“Are you sure about this? You know I’ll support you not matter what. But dude, you’re definitely good enough to go pro!”
Kuroo glances at Bokuto, seated next to him at the bar. His friend is looking down into his drink, brow furrowed, shoulders drooping slightly. He sighs. “Yes, I’m sure. I have other things I want to do.”
Bokuto nods silently, still looking a bit dejected. And Kuroo understands. He really does. Their final university tournament is fast approaching. After that series of games, they’ll be focused on exams, job interviews, and preparing to move out.
The two of them had shared a university, including a bunch of classes, a volleyball team, and even a living space for the past few years. Their lives had intertwined so much so that Bokuto became more than just a “second best friend.”
He’s more like a brother now.
But their futures are finally heading in opposite directions, and Kuroo can admit—it’s a bit daunting. Emotions are running high. “It’s not like I won’t be involved in volleyball,” he adds. “I couldn’t stay away even if I tried. But I think I want to work from behind the scenes from now on.”
Bokuto’s mouth twitches into a smile. “You DO have a lot of options, don’t you?” Kuroo had double majored in Biology and Marketing & Communications, all while maintaining his spot on the team. He had been unanimously voted captain in his final year, of course choosing Bokuto as his vice. College had been crazy, but a good kind of crazy, for the most part.
“I want to keep ‘lowering the net,’” Kuroo says. “I want to get as many people interested in volleyball as I can.”
Bokuto’s grin turns toothy. He leans in to clank their glasses together. “Now THAT’S what I’m talking about!" They both take a long swig. The liquor burns Kuroo’s throat briefly before a warm, fuzzy feeling settles into his chest.
“You know, I’m really glad we were here together.” Bokuto’s voice is lowered, just loud enough to be heard over the din. Kuroo shifts on his stool, but stays silent, allowing his friend to continue. “It was… hard to accept that Keiji wouldn’t be continuing volleyball after high school. And even harder when he chose a different college.”
Kuroo nods in understanding. While it hadn’t been a surprise that Kenma announced he’d be choosing another path, it was still difficult to accept.
“I don’t think I could’ve done it without you here, Kuroo!”
Frowning, Kuroo reaches to punch his friend lightly in the arm. “Oi!” He tuts. “Stop that. Or else I’m gonna tell on you to your boyfriend. I know for a fact that Akaashi hates when you cut yourself down!” Bokuto just shrugs. “C’mon, Bo. You would’ve been fine. Great, even. I mean, aside from maybe Chibi-chan, you’re the best at making friends. You make your biggest rivals want to cheer for you!”
“Hey, Hinata’s not so ‘Chibi’ anymore!” Bokuto chuckles. “Have you seen his latest photos from Brazil? My disciple is turning into an absolute beast!”
They both laugh, and Kuroo relaxes. He’d been pretty worried about telling Bokuto about his plans. But now that it’s done, he finally feels at peace. “You’re going to go far with volleyball,” he declares, raising his glass once again. “I just know it. But someday you might want to put that Education degree to use, too. Hit me up when that happens, okay?”
Bokuto’s smile is blinding. “Yeah!” He nods enthusiastically. “We could coach at a school, or put a volleyball camp together or something!”
Kuroo winks. “Now THAT sounds like a solid plan.”
//
I’ve been thinking about Kuroo and Bo’s friendship a lot lately, especially since I saw that leaked sketch of them leading a kids' volleyball camp together. It’s just so special to me. 🥺❤️ Thanks for reading! If you enjoyed, please comment and share!

THE BOYS AS DADS ! PT TWO !?
feat. suna rintaro , oikawa tooru , kuroo tetsuro.
genre + tw. fluff comfort slight implication of pregnantation in suna’s . also not proofread 🤭
previous section the boys as dads! pt one.
when you’re kids were born, SUNA was glued to them, he couldn’t bare staying away for too long, even cause for games. in the early stages, he always tried to fight to urge to pick them up, but he just adored the newborn baby scrunch; melting his heart from how cute they are, their little inaudible yawns and their small heads resting on his shoulders. he’ll even ask for you to take a few picture so he can print it out later and put it inside a photo book archive he started curating. whenever suna comes home, he’d never arrived empty handed. he introduces matching outfits for the two of you and the twins, setting his phone up to take pictures. as they get older he’s even more adored with them, being able to take them places and spend every last nickel and dime of his on them including yourself. he would give the world and then some if he could for his little family and everything within it. to your dismay the baby fever hits him hard sometimes and he suggests that you two should make more.
OIKAWA’s background of his phone is your child in a teddybear onsie with a tiny little toothless smile on their face. he also has more where that came from, he has a whole entire album titled something like mini me and me and it has over a thousand of pointless photos that come out blurry for how quick he tries to take the picture before the moment is over. oikawa is also extremely hands-on and active with your children, he often takes a sick day or two help out with tending to them while you rest, he also loves holding them up, their tiny hands wrapped around his finger and watching them do a little dance. oikawa also gives me the feeling that when they start crying he mimics them before showing his childish empathy like they have any idea what he’s doing. he also has one of those baby carriers that you wear on your stomach when he’s around the house cleaning, or lounging.
KUROO is more than excited to be a father and welcome your bundle of joy into the world. he has more time on his hands now that he is able to work from home, taking conference calls with your child on his knee as he bounces his knee to prevent them from crying, sometimes failing and offers to reschedule the meeting. he also likes making conversation, talking about how lousy his day was and the minor inconveniences that he came across, and uses their coincidental babbles as their responses, “see i knew you’d get me!” that in itself is very entertaining to watch seeing how invested your kid looks, not knowing much of what is being said; just happy to be apart of it. kuroo also takes the night shift most nights when he’s not working, he knows how overwhelming it can be to do everything yourself when he’s not around, so he pitches in every chance he gets weather thats making bottles, changing diapers and more.
reblogs, asks && more are always appreciated <3

Kuroo Tetsurou x Reader
This is a bit of childhood friends to lovers, lots of pining and just Kuroo being a dork and Kenma, a sneaky little shit. Includes some fluff and initial hurt to comfort.
You freeze, teetering between steps when Tetsu—Kuroo accosts you at your door. You are tired, a bone deep exhaustion clinging to your bones, a little aching and caught off guard by his presence. He sniffles, nose pink from the biting cold or from his tears, the quiet ones that he’s crying.
You withhold a sigh, a scream for help because it is Kuroo, the boy who put band aids on your knees and held your hand through the first day of school, because snow clings to his hair, a snowstorm incoming and he is here, at your doorstep with tear tracks on his cheeks and fury in his eyes, earbuds dangling uselessly from the ipod, where you are sure, he was listening to the playlist you made for him, holding up a letter in your writing, long since opened.
Shit, you thought you’d be gone by then.
You poured so much of yourself onto those pages, long muffled secrets and wistful sighs, long harbored feelings, a final concession before trying to forget, leaving for good.
“Hi love,” he says and you are ten again, a bit broken and battered, moving halfway across the world with your grandparents, an outstretched hand of a boy your age, both of you crying as he chased your bullies away, lips wobbling as he tries so hard to be brave.
“Kuroo?” you clear your throat, suppressing an urge to flee, mouth twisting to a sad shape.
“Does this mean what I think it means?” he asks, pleads really.
You are seventeen again, listening to Kuroo laugh, a wonky little thing, a bit like a dying goat but you would bottle it up if you could, but then your eyes land on the girl on Kuroo’s arm and something in your chest aches.
“What do you think it means?” you ask instead, a watery laugh bubbling from your throat.
He smiles, a tiny little thing, reminded of nights like these, when neither of you could sleep, questions were answered with more questions, sneaking into each other’s bedrooms, the pebbles thrown at windows, the chemistry study sessions, the lazy cuddle nights with Kenma, the midnight train rides and the warmth of terrible decisions.
He is fifteen again, realizing that his best friend had gotten pretty. Sixteen, realizing that he wanted to kiss the said best friend, wanting to throw himself off the tallest building he could find. It was as if he’d never had a crush before, Kenma snickering under his breath about how he was so very fucked.
“It’s not my job to say it chibi,” he says and he is twenty two again, eyes looking for you at the party.
“Kuroo!” your yell pierces the air, hands perched on your hips in the most accusatory kind of way as you stare Kuroo down.
“I’ve just been busy chibi, organizer of the party and all that”
“You haven’t looked at me, Kuroo”
Oh, but he has, and you look so beautiful, black gown that hugged all your curves and revealed unknown stretches of skin and he wanted nothing more than to sink his teeth into it. You looked like his, but on Iwaizumi’s arm and fuck it all if he didn’t feel like his heart was a desiccated, dying thing performing the actions of something living.
(Met abroad, studied at the same university, blah blah, bleh. Anyone who tells you he’s been giving Iwaizumi the stink eye throughout the party is nothing but a filthy liar)
“Do you want to dance chibi?” he asks, one tiny want seeping out from the aching places inside his chest.
Your head tilts a fraction, eyes teetering between cautious hope and blinding joy. You let yourself take his hand and learn, for the span of a single evening, what holding Kuroo Tetsurou in your arms felt like.
You wilt, what option did you have but honesty?
“I-I-I,” new tears spring from your eyes at your inability to articulate even the barest of words but you plough through. “I love you— I-I d-don’t know since when, o-or for h-how l-l-long. I’ve done a piss poor job of n-not falling for my best friend b-but it’s always been you, me and you, you and me. W-We have always been an ‘us.’ S-Sorry” the confession slips out of your mouth before you can yank it back and shove it down your throat.
“I am so fucking furious, chibi”
He’s breathing heavily, emotion pouring out from him and your throat feels like it might swell shut.
“I’m so sorry but please don’t cry.” You hear the strain in your voice, self control rapidly dwindling as you barely resist the incessant throb behind your ribs, to just reach out and hold him close, wrap him in a blanket burrito, get him some hot chocolate and beat up anyone who dared to make him cry.
“I’d stop if I could,” he snaps, wiping another stray tear, furious at himself for crying.
“You mean to tell me,” he takes in a measured breath, like a man on the verge of starvation, fighting every impulse to reach for a feast in front of him.
“You mean to tell me that all this time the two of us wasted on pining away after each another, we could’ve been making out?” he shouts.
You bluescreen, a blink and a breath.
Once your brain processes the words, you release the deluge, laughter spilling over as your resistance buckles, pulling his bottom lip between your teeth after so many years of fantasizing the same.
When Kenma takes all the money from the bet your friends seem to have made, Kuroo calling him scheming filthy liar, you laugh coasting over Kuroo’s outraged noises about how could Kenma bet against him, how he’d known you would confess first… Kenma winking at you, mouthing fucking finally, as happiness tints your vision golden.

Summary: A few weeks have passed since you arrived, feeling much closer than before. Soon enough the Golden Week arrives, going to Miyagi to play against a school called Karasuno by the end of it. Throughout the week, however, you met various schools of the area, including Shiratorizawa and Aoba Johsai.
Kenma x reader; Haikyuu x reader [platonic!]
First Year: Inarizaki
Second Year: Part 6 - Part 7 - Part 8 ...
Kenma feels much more comfortable with you ever since, putting his head on your shoulder whenever he’s tired or laying his head on your lap whenever he wanted to get away of practice while playing games; he doesn’t blush as much as before whenever he initiates it, but the moment you do something his face goes all shades of red. It also became a routine for you to go to his house after practice and either play together, you watching him play, or each one doing their own thing.
Now you are two days away from the Golden Week, the guys are practicing hard while still trying to teach Lev how to properly receive a ball. The coach comes by a few minutes later, calling them to the bench.
“Finally, a break from Lev” Kenma sighs while putting his head on your lap
“You’re too mean to him, he isn’t that bad”
“But he doesn’t think, and it’s not consistent, that’s a problem” he takes your hand, putting it in his head so you play with his hair. Kenma doesn’t remember when he grew so comfortable with your touch, but he doesn't really mind that much
“I don’t know if I should be happy that Kenma is not a complete loner anymore or if I want to vomit because of how cute they are with each other” Kuroo tells Yaku, earning an annoyed look from the blonde
“Guys, I have some news for you. As you know, the Golden Week is about to start; I know this is sudden news, but this time we’re spending that week in Miyagi, we’re doing all the adjustments for it so make sure to tell your parents”
“Why are we going there coach?” asks Kuroo
“There’s a school there, Karasuno High, that I used to have an old rivalry with, but the coach there retired so we haven’t had a match in a long time. The new coach tried so hard to have a match, so I thought why not. The match is arrange for the last day of the Golden week, but we’re going there early so we can have some matches with other schools of the area”
“Miyagi, right?” you ask
“Yeah, it’s a few hours away, don’t worry”
“No, no, that’s not it. If I remember correctly Shiratorizawa is in there”
“Shiratorizawa? Are they good?” asks Lev
“Yes, they have a top 3 ace. Inarizaki played against them in the nationals”
“Ahh yeah, I remember, Ushijima was strong” adds Yaku
“It would be good to have a match against them, to see if our defense is strong enough, but I don’t know if they will be open to a practice match all of the sudden” says the coach
“I kinda know someone from there” you whisper remembering Tendou
“Kinda?” Kuroo asks confused
“I talked to him a little and know his name”
“But that can help us, we can go and you can try to convince him when we go to Miyagi”
“I don’t even know if he remembers the conversation, it was right after his match” you say panicking a bit, trying to find an excuse to not having to do it
“It’s worth to try”
“C’mon chibi-chan, it would help us practice, don’t you want us to get better?”
“Now you’re just emotionally manipulating her, Kuroo. You know that she cares about us AND that she doesn’t like talking that much” adds Kai
“That’s low, Kuro, that’s low” says Kenma
“…Fine, I’ll do it”
“Thank you Yn-chan, when we get to Miyagi it will be our first stop”
The last few days of the semester pass quickly, ending up with you awake at 6:15 am on a Saturday to finally go to Miyagi, just waiting for the guys so you can go to the school. The first one to appear is Kenma, who first reaction is to lay his head on your shoulder
“‘m tired, too early”
“Did you even sleep Ken?”
“2 hours”
“You’re sleeping on the bus then, no games”
“But I wanted to play with you” he whines
“I’m going to steal your PSP, you need to sleep more if you want to play, I want to win against you when you’re properly awake”
“You will still lose if we play now” Kenma says lifting his head up with a tired smile
“Who would’ve thought that Kenma is clingy and whiny when tired? Ever since chibi-chan arrived I have seen so many new sides of you, Kenma” Kuroo smirks at his friend
“Shut up Kuro”
“Let’s go, we’re going to be late” you say to the both of them
“Don’t act like you didn’t hear me chibi-chan, you’re also blushing”
“Shut up Kuroo” you say, making the tall boy laugh
You arrive at the school when you see the rest of the team; this time only the official players will go, while the rest will stay here practicing. As soon as the bus arrives Kenma takes your wrist and walks with you to the last seats, moving next to the window with him sitting beside you while taking his console out.
“Didn’t I say that you should sleep?”
“But I’m fine”
“Are you really? Give me that and sleep a few more hours, we’ll play later”
“…Fine” he sighs while handing you his console and putting his head on your shoulder. Through the corner of your eye you can see Yamamoto shocked face, but he doesn’t say anything “You can play any of my games if you want to”
“Thanks Ken”
Since you couldn’t fall asleep again, you waited until Kenma fell asleep, which was quite quickly for someone who said he was fine, and turn on your console to play Animal Crossing in the meantime. A few hours later Kenma wakes up, straighten himself up.
“Better now?” You whisper since everyone else fell asleep
“Yes, I’m not that tired anymore”
“Good, want your PSP?”
“Sure, let me visit your island”
You spend the rest of the trip playing together or you watching him play. After a while you open the curtain to see the place, hearing a little whine from Kenma at the sudden light, when looking outside you notice a school with a sign outside that says Aoba Johsai.
“Was that Aoba Johsai, right? Are we staying near them?”
“I think so, according to maps, we are around 10 minutes away by car. Why?” Yaku answers
“They played against Shiratorizawa before the nationals, they were good”
“I’m looking them up. Apparently, they are in the top schools for volleyball, but Ushijima broke all their formations”
“Chibi-chan you don’t happen to know someone in there? It would be good to practice against them” asks Kuroo
“Nope”
“Can you stop here please?” the coach says to the assistant “Since we are already here, let’s try. Yn-chan why don’t you go first and call anyone if you need me?”
“Me? Why?”
“I have a feeling that you have the more chances of getting it”
“The captain sounds like a playboy, he has fans and all. You can use your charms and convince him” says Kuroo
“Charms?”
“You know, you have a good first impression and it’s easy to talk with you. Like, you made Kenma comfortable with you. Ken.ma” Kuroo explains, making the blonde roll his eyes annoyed
“…Fine, I’ll go”
“That’s our chibi-chan!”
“Thank you Yn-chan” says the coach
You went out of the bus and walk towards Aoba Johsai feeling nervous. Before finding the gym you see a tall dude with a jacket that says ‘Aoba Johsai Volleyball Club’ refilling water bottles outside, so fighting against your shyness, you decided to approach him
“Ehh…hi?”
He turns around before answering, making you noticed his whole self, a spikey dark hair boy with a number 4 in his t-shirt looking at you with a frown in his face, confused by the sudden interruption “Hello”
“Uhm… do you know where is the gym where the volleyball club practice?”
“Ah, sorry, it’s a close practice, we can’t let any Oikawa fan enter the gym” he says while confusion leaves his eyes, a clear annoyance appearing as he mutters something
“Oikawa…fans? Who’s that?” you ask, even though you were sure that he’s the setter and captain of the team, you knew that if he had fangirls the easiest way for them to trust you was to pretend that you didn’t know who he was. You had experience with that after all
“You’re not…a fan?”
“Mmm nope…sorry?”
“Oh, don’t be sorry, it’s amazing actually. What do you need then?”
“Ah yes, I’m Yl Yn, currently the manager of the Nekoma High volleyball team, in Tokyo. Last year my previous school, Inarizaki High, played against Shiratorizawa and I ended up watching your match with them. I wanted to see if you guys will be okay with having a practice match with my team since, in my opinion, you were amazing”
“Oh wow…thanks” he says shyly, with one arm behind his head, rubbing it flustered. You can’t help but look at his toned arms. “I guess you can come to talk to the coach. Let me finish filling the bottle and you can follow me”
“Thank you” you smile at him, making him smile back awkwardly. Before he continues an idea pops up, maybe if you help him he will help you back later “let me fill them up”
“No, no, you don’t have to”
“It’s fine, I’m used to do these things, besides you probably have a lot with practice” you take the empty bottle out of his hand and going to fill it
“Thanks…Yl, right?”
“Yes, but Yn it’s fine too” you say filling the other bottles
“Thanks, Yn, I’m Iwaizumi Hajime”
“Nice to meet you, everything is done”
“Let me take it, you already did a lot for me. Follow me” says taking the bag; even with the jacket on you were able to see the muscles of his arms. You go to the gym, which was closer than expected, but since it was indoors it would have been harder to spot. When you enter the gym you see a bunch of tall boys with light blue uniforms warming up.
“Iwa-chan you took a lot of time, what were you…well hello there, who are you pretty girl?” says a tall boy with dark brown hair, which you assume was Oikawa.
“Shut up trashy-kawa, stop flirting with everything that breaths”
“Iwa-chan so rude! Don’t listen to him pretty girl. Sorry to disappoint, but you can’t see me play today”
“I didn’t come to see you play, sorry” you smile at him
“You didn’t?”
“Nope” his expression changed from shock to disappointment, making Iwaizumi laugh at him
“Trashy-kawa here thinks that everyone knows him, sorry for that. Let’s go, the coach is over there” you bow to Oikawa before continue walking
“Iwaizumi, out of everyone here I thought that you will follow the rule of no people allow”
“Sorry coach, she came here to talk to you. Go ahead” You explain the same thing to the coach, explaining to him all the details. While you were talking, the rest of the team came closer to you after hearing Oikawa talk about it.
“I see, I see. I have heard of Nekoma, they’re specialists of defense, right?”
“Yeah, they’re awesome at it. They’re the best team that I have seen at defense”
“It would be an amazing practice, I agree. Iwaizumi, what do you think?” asks his coach
“If they are that good then it would be an amazing match for us too”
“Ok then, let’s see at what time we can. It’s your coach around?”
“Yes, he’s on the bus, let me call him”
The coach goes with his assistant to see their schedule, so you call Kuroo to reach the coach quicker, you knew he was waiting for your call.
“Well, pretty girl, since you don’t know me let me present myself. Oikawa Tooru, my pleasure”
“Yn, nice to meet you”
“Yn, sounds foreigner, so what language do you speak?”
“Spanish and English”
“Really? Can you help me?” Oikawa asks, all signs of flirting gone “I’ve been looking for someone who teach me Spanish but it’s hard to find people around here”
“Why do you want to learn? But sure, I can help. If you go over the top with the flirting I’ll stop though”
“Thank you so much!” you smile to him as Kuroo enter the gym alongside the coach
“You’re okay chibi-chan?” Kuroo appears beside you, passing his arm over your shoulder protectively while your coach goes with Seijoh's
“Yeah, I’m fine” you say as he rubs your hair
“Sorry for throw you into this chibi-chan” he whispers before turning towards the other two boys “Hello, Kuroo Tetsuro, Nekoma’s captain”
“Oikawa Tooru” they hold each other's hands with a nice smile on their faces, but everyone can notice the tension “is he the reason why you don’t want me to flirt with you that much, chibi-chan?”
“Tetsu? Nah, I’m not dating anyone, I just don’t want you to flirt with me”
“Hmm?! Guys don’t laugh!” says Oikawa offended
“The Great Oikawa is being shut down completely. I don’t know you but I love you already” a light brown hair dude looks at you, 3 of them laughing like crazy while Kuroo and you stand there clueless
“Trashy-kawa almost never gets rejected, that’s why his ego is so big, it’s a nice change” explains Iwaizumi
“Iwa-chan!”
“Guys let’s go, we still need to go to our other destination” calls your coach Nekomata
“Bye, thank you” you bow at the team alongside Kuroo who, as soon as he turn around, his face go in full concern towards you
“Did he try to do something chibi-chan?”
“Nothing much, just some flirting. It was just as a prevention”
“Fine, tell me if something happens”
You arrived at the bus and you went to sit next to Kenma, a big sigh came out making him chuckle and lay one more time on your shoulder “Too many people, and I still have more. I hate it here”
“But thanks to you we have a practice match with a top 4 school here. We have to be here tomorrow at 4 pm” says the coach
“Thank you Yn-chan, did you talk to the captain?” Kai asks you
“Not that much, I talked to their number 4 though, he was nice”
The bus starts towards the hotel that you are staying at. The guys are staying together in a room, while you have your own upstairs, near the coach and the assistant for prevention. Once you leave your things there, the coach, assistant coach, Kuroo and you go out to go to Shiratorizawa. The plan for it was quite similar, you going first to talk to them while they wait for a signal
“Hey! You’re the girl that complimented me on Nationals! Don’t remember your name though” you turn around to see the red hair boy with Ushijima next to him
“Hi, I’m Yn…you’re Tendou-san, right?”
“That’s me! Why do you have Nekoma on your jacket? Weren’t you with the foxes?”
“I was, but I had to move to Tokyo. I’m in Nekoma now”
“That’s cool! This is Wakatoshi-kun by the way” he says pointing at the ace, you nod at him and he does the same “What are you doing here then?”
“Ah yeah, Nekoma is on the town and I remembered that you were from here, so they want me to see if we could have a practice match together”
“Why do you have to do it? Shouldn’t the coach be on charge of that?” asks Ushijima with his deep voice
“Yeah, I accidentally mention that I talked to you, Tendou-san, so they thought that I had more chances or something like that”
“I would love to play with the kitty cats! But I don’t think I can help that much; our coach isn’t the nicest and we already have a lot of practice matches…You can always try though!”
“S-sure” you say with a slight nervousness, the previous coach seemed nice, so this new information caught you off guard “where do I go?”
“Oh yeah, follow us!” you wonder if Tendou could feel your nervous state, because he is trying to make you laugh on the way to the gym, a pretty successful try.
“And the other day the horses went wild…”
“You have horses here?! What kind of school are you?”
“I know right?! It’s so crazy that we have them!!” he makes an exaggerated face, going down to your height to whisper in your ear “Between you and me, this school is full of rich, rich people. I just enter here because of volleyball”
“Damn”
“TENDOU! USHIJIMA! WHAT ARE YOU DOING? YOU GUYS ARE LATE! AND WHO IS THIS GIRL?” screams a small old man making you jump slightly, and to your surprise, Ushijima is the one to answer.
“I’m deeply sorry, coach. On our way here we found Yn-kun, she wanted to talk to you about a possibility of a practice match with us”
“I’ll talk to her, YOU TWO GO AND DO YOUR RUN!”
“Yes coach!” they say in unison. Before leaving Tendou goes down to whisper in your ear “Chibi-chan, wait for us outside the school. Good luck!”
“So, practice match? Please explain” asks the Shiratorizawa’s coach
“Ah…y-yeah” you stutter. You explain the same thing that you said before between stuttering words. He had an intense aura to him, making you feel like he’s judging everything that you do
“I do remember Inarizaki, they were a good team, but no matter how interesting the offer sounds I’ll have to decline it, we are full of practice matches already”
“It’s fine, we knew that they were low possibilities of it”
“However, if the opportunity arises when we’re free, I may consider it. Have a good day, miss”
“Thank you, you too sir” you turn around and leave. Despite not having the practice match, you were just glad to not be with the coach anymore. You go out of the school finding Kuroo standing outside the gates, arms cross on his chest
“Coach Nekomata told me to wait for you since it was getting late. How did it…wow there chibi-chan” he says after you suddenly hug him, putting your face on his chest. He laughs, putting his arms around your back
“The coach was terrifying, I felt the judgment on his eyes”
“That bad? Sounds like an asshole. Did he accept?”
“No, he said they were full of practice matches, but that he will consider it if they have time”
“Well, it was worth a try. You did good today chibi-chan, you talked to a lot of people for us, thanks. Let’s go to the bus”
“Chibi-chan! Did it work?” you hear Tendou from behind you, who just seem to arrived alongside Ushijima
“No, you’re too full-on practices”
“Aww I wanted to play with the kitty cats”
“It would have been nice to play with another school from Tokyo. Maybe next time” adds Ushijima
“We have to go, coach is gonna be pissed if we don’t arrive soon. See you soon, chibi!” Tendou says before jogging away, making you and Kuroo walk away from the school gates
You enter the bus while telling the story to the coach, who doesn’t seem surprised at all. Once over you sit next to Kuroo, laying your head on his shoulder while he pets your head.
You go to your room straight away when you arrive at the hotel, wanting to take a shower as soon as possible. After a relaxing bath, you went downstairs to buy a hot chocolate from the vending machine.
“Are you okay?” you hear a calm voice behind. You turn around only to find Kenma with a coin purse in his hand
“I’m fine, just tired, I talked to a lot of people today. Want me to buy you something?” You say while taking your drink out
“I got it, thanks. I don’t know how you do it, talk to so many new people” he tells you while putting the coins in
“A habit by now, I have no problem when people talk to me and it’s a few at a times, but it gets progressively harder the more I have to”
“I see…want to play some games together? Everyone else sucks here”
“Is this your way of telling me that you miss my company today?”
“Forget it” he blushes trying to look mad
“I’ll wait in my room, get your game” he nods despite denying the claims earlier. You go up to your room when you hear some not-so-quiet whispers talking to Kenma, who doesn’t say anything that you can hear, a few seconds later you hear a loud ‘Kenma! I told you to not play games so late!’, almost instantly the door of your room opens, Kenma entering with a bored expression.
“I don’t know if they wanted to be quiet or not, but they failed miserably” you chuckle
“I know, they get extra loud sometimes”
He sits beside you so you can start playing together, a comfortable silence falling between you two. After a while you start to get tired, so you turn off your console and move closer to Kenma to watch him play, however, he doesn’t seem super concentrated on it, not like he usually gets in those types of games at least.
“…I did miss you today” Kenma whispers out of nowhere, his face getting red. You look at him shocked by the sudden words before breaking into a soft smile, laying your head on his shoulder
“I missed you too, Ken”

“Chibi-chan!! Have you seen Ken…Oh, found him” you hear, scrunching your face at the sudden noise that interrupted your sleep, finding a smirking Kuroo looking at you
Last night when you rested your head on Kenma's shoulder you fell asleep on him, and at some point of the night, Kenma had fallen too, his head being on top of yours while his game was still on. You felt him move at Kuroo scream, straightening himself while rubbing his eyes.
“So, this is why you didn’t come back, I wish I can blame you” Kuroo’s smirk grows bigger, which makes Kenma look at him with anger.
“Kuro, it’s too early. Shut up”
“How do you want me to shut up? You left the room yesterday and when I didn’t see you on your bed when I woke up, I looked around for you only to find you cuddling with chibi-chan. These are great news”
“Tetsu, kindly, shut the fuck up”
“Fine, fine I’ll stop. We’re getting ready for breakfast, remember that we have a practice match in the morning and afternoon” he says before leaving and closing the door
“Are you okay, Ken?” you ask looking at him, look that he returns with a tired face and a little smile.
“I’m fine, I don’t know when I fell asleep, is your neck okay?”
“It hurts a little, but I can deal with it. I’m going to the bathroom to get ready; you should go too”
“Yeah…” he says, but neither of you does an effort in moving, instead you stay there looking at each other for a few seconds before looking away, both of you blushing
“I’m…I’m gonna go now” you stand up, leaving the room shortly
You look at your reflection after washing your face, only to find some red tints on your cheeks. Kenma is gone when you arrive in your room, only leaving his PSP charging; while the action may be insignificant to others, you know that Kenma doesn’t just leave his things with people he doesn’t trust, making your heart beat even faster. You put your Nekoma jacket before going down, making sure to put his console on your bag.
“Morning chibi-chan”
“Hi Yaku, are you guys ready for the matches?” you ask sitting down next to him
“Yeah, we should be fine, all of us got a great night of sleep anyways” says Kuroo, eyes shifting between Kenma and you, much to the blonde dismay
++++
You are going to the first school, Ohgiminami High, to have the first practice match of the day. When you arrive there, saying hi to the other players and proceeding to warm up, you notice the strong aura of the other players, it was as if they were looking for a fight with everyone.
“I feel like they are judging me” says Kenma arriving to your side
“I think they do that to everyone. The captain doesn’t really fit with the rest, he looks nice”
“Do you know something about them, chibi-chan?”
“Not really, I barely found something about their team”
“Well, it’s always good to have a surprise”
The match started with no problem for the boys, they were putting in action all of the moves that they’ve been practicing. Both sets ended quickly and with a large gap between the schools, making the other team look at Nekoma with a mix of anger and confusion. They were barely even sweating.
“I thought they were going to be stronger seeing how those delinquents look, they barely gave me any problem” Yaku says while sitting next to you
“At least you practiced your moves on an actual match, that’s good”
“Yes, it was worth it, we know that they will work against Seijoh”
“I don’t think that Seijoh will be as easy as this one” adds Kenma putting his head on your shoulder “They have to be good to be in the top 4 schools”
“True, I want to dig Oikawa’s serve, they’re supposed to be impossible to dig” Yaku eyes light with determination
You go back to the hotel while waiting for the other match, sitting down in the common area Kuroo, Yaku and Kai talking; Inuoka and Shinayama are joking with Yamamoto; Kenma is playing and you’re on your phone beside him talking to your foxes about their training week when suddenly a message from a new number pops up
“Who are you texting chibi?” Kuroo asks
“Tendou-san, the red hair dude from Shiratorizawa, just talk to me, he told me something about Seijoh”
“Who’s him? And why do you have his number?” asks Yamamoto crossing his arms
“A…Shiratorizawa player; anyways, he told me that their setter is the whole reason why Seijoh is considered good”
You arrive to Aoba Johsai at 3 so the guys can do warm ups and prepare properly. On the way there you were able to watch a match of them, so you are giving some directions to Yaku and Kuroo telling them the general idea of Oikawa serves. The match was a few minutes away, so you went to refill the bottles outside
“Hi there” someone makes you flinch
“Iwaizumi-san, hi. Filling the bottles again?”
“Yeah, it’s my turn this week”
“Don’t you have a manager? You guys are one of the top schools”
“The majority here are Oikawa fans, we don’t need screaming girls that only care about seeing him”
“Ahh I get it, it’s like my twins. Those two also had fans, but since I didn’t care about them in that way, they let me be their manager”
“That’s how you know how to handle Oikawa?”
“You could say so” you say finishing filling the bottles, when you look at him, you noticed that he still has a lot to refill, so you take some and help him out
“You really don’t have to do this”
“It’s fine, I want to help you” You refill the rest of his bottles in silence while he was putting them in the bag without dry them off “Don’t just put them in, you have to dry them a little Iwaizumi-san, otherwise it will get moldy inside”
“…True, sorry to make you do this” he says quite ashamed
“I told you it’s fine” you smile at him making him blush. While looking at him you decided to try to get more information, and even though you felt bad for misleading him, you knew it was the only way “Last time I saw a bit of your match, Oikawa-san had strong serves, but not a lot of control”
“Yeah, he has been practicing like crazy for it, he can control it better now”
“That’s cool, you also seem really strong too”
“A-ah thank you, I've been practicing a lot…We also got some first years now that are really good too”
“Ahh then I haven’t see them play, I’m sure they’re good if this is one of the best schools” you say in hopes he tells you something
“They are, but they still are first years, sometimes they get too overwhelmed by the pressure”
“Of course, it happens to everyone, especially if the rest of the team is as good as you guys, they probably feel like they have to maintain the good reputation. Done” you say putting the last bottle in, a small smile threatening to appear at the information
“Yeah…Let me carry your bag too”
“Don’t worry about it”
“You can’t be the only one helping, you know, I don’t have all these muscles for nothing” He takes the bag for his team and on the other shoulder he puts yours, starting walking towards the gym side “Are you really teaching Oikawa Spanish?”
“If he wants to, why not? It’s not a bad idea”
“I should give you my number then, Shittykawa can be really stupid sometimes, so if he bothers you or says something out of place you tell me and I beat some sense into him”
“Sounds like good plan. Thank you” you arrived to your side of the court, leaving the bag on the floor
“No problem, good luck today” he smiles awkwardly before going back to his side of the court
“How do you manage to become friends with so many people despite hating talking to new people?” Kuroo asks
“I don’t really know. By the way, he said something that can be useful, can you call the rest?”
“Guys! Nekoma meeting!” calls Kuroo, making the team arrive to where we are.
“I was talking to Iwazumi-san, the number 4, when filling the bottles. Apparently, Oikawa-san has been practicing his serves like crazy, so now he has more control over them and it's not just raw power, he's going to get a few points by serving but I'm sure that after a few tries you guys will be able to dig it no problem, specially Yaku-san”
“Thank you chibi-chan”
“He also said that they have a few first years in their line-up, and that they can get overwhelm during matches”
“It can be easy to pressure them to make mistakes, the more they fail to make a point, the more possibilities of them making mistakes” adds Kenma
“Exactly. If what Tendou-san said it’s true, then the spikers shouldn’t be much of a problem for you. They’re strong, no doubt, but none of them seem stronger than Bokuto-san. If you can dig balls of a top 5 ace at National level, then you probably are able to dig Seijoh’s without much problem, you guys specialize in floor defense after all” you say now
“We just need to get used to them, after that it should be easy. If Shiratorizawa only thinks that the setter is good, it must be for a reason”
“Tendou-san and Ushijima-san don’t seem like the type of look down onto teams that they know it can give them a good fight”
“You two are scary when it comes to planning strategies” says Yamamoto interrupting the two of you “Since when are you this sly Chibi?”
“She was a fox Tora, of course she’s sly” Kuroo laughs “helpful for us though, you getting information from outside the court helps us to create a better play”
“Thank God you came to our school, you and Kenma do work amazingly together” adds Kai
“Almost like you two were meant to be together” whispers Kuroo with his characteristic smirk on
“You never shut up, do you? The match is about to start, go go go” you push them slightly, trying to hide your flustered state
Both teams go to the court and say their greeting, officially starting the match. The first one to serve is the one and only Oikawa, and as expected, he does a powerful serve, marking the first point to Seijoh. By his second serve Yaku is able to be in the right spot, however he isn’t able to dig it properly, marking the second point in Seijoh favor. By the third one however, you notice that Yaku had his concentration face, being able to dig up the ball perfectly and passing it to Kenma. Since Kenma does the minimum movement when it comes to setting, it’s almost impossible for the blockers to guess where he is going to set, sending it to Fukunaga and scoring the point for Nekoma.
After a few points the score is in Nekoma's favor, winning 20 -18, which forces Seijoh to ask for their first time-out. You pass around their bottles and towels before sitting next to Kenma, who puts his head on your shoulder, before joining their meeting
“We seem to be handling them better than expected considering that they are the top 4 here. Not as hard as I thought they would be” says Yaku
“Chibi-chan want to say something?”
“I see what Tendou-san said. There are a few ways to win against you, either teams swarming you with attack after attack; or like Fukurodani, that has Bokuto-san overpower your defense when he's in the zone…”
“Seijoh doesn’t seem to have neither of those. They are a really good team, but they don’t have an exceptional offense outside of their captain serves” adds Kenma
“They also seem to lose a lot of their momentum when they can't rely on Oikawa-san serves to stock up points or at least break the formation, but then again, serve reception is your speciality”
“Besides their blockers fall a lot with Kenma’s subtle faints, specially that first year” adds Kuroo
“Oikawa-san is totally different from Tsumu” you mutter while looking at the other setter “Oikawa-san makes them as good as they can be, which is not THAT good; Tsumu will give them a boost and make them stronger than they are. Fascinating really”
“We should continue with the blocks so the floor defense can get fully use to them, after that let’s change into a more offensive blocking to see how they do” says Kenma
The whistle sounds, meaning that they have to go back to court. Seijoh also seems to be a really analytical team, so it wouldn’t be surprising that they notice some of the weak points of Nekoma. The first set ends up going to Nekoma by a small margin of points.
The second set starts with a lot more people watching now, majority screaming for Oikawa’s attention, you had forgotten the fan girl screams during practice. Seijoh seems to be trying to break Nekoma's formation by using more faints than before, it works at first, but after a few of those the guys are able to adapt to their plays once again, making them visibly frustrated. After Kuroo blocks Iwaizumi spike perfectly and Kenma does a setter dump after, you noticed that Oikawa was looking at Kenma with a mix of confusion, frustration and annoyance. You can understand why though, Oikawa is definitely more athletic than Kenma, probably has practiced a lot more, and is probably way more passionate when it comes to volleyball; and yet, Kenma was giving him a hard time.
The second set also goes to Nekoma, much to everyone in the gym surprise, this time by a point of difference after a long deuce. The teams now go to the opposite team coach to hear some objective critique, coach Nekomata congratulates them for having an excellent game, while you stay in the side line like always.
“Did you help them?” asks Oikawa before leaving, Iwaizumi staying with him
“Of course, I’m their manager, that’s my job”
“It doesn’t make any sense, they weren’t any stronger than Shiratorizawa; the setter isn’t outstanding, the ace isn’t exceptionally strong, and Nekoma isn’t particularly well known, even in Tokyo...”
“Maybe you guys looked down to us a lot more than you should. My cats may not be the flashiest team out there, but that doesn’t make them bad” you say annoyed
“I didn’t mean it like that…I…”
“Trashy-kawa, the coach is waiting, move your ass” Iwaizumi pushes him out of the way “sorry, he hates losing and gets really petty”
“It’s fine, but I’m not letting anyone talk trash about my boys again”
“I’ll hit some sense into him, don’t worry”
The guys come back to where you are, Kenma immediately putting his head on the crock of your neck, taking your hand to his head so you can play with his hair. Since the team was used to this sight, they act like nothing is happening.
“So tired” he mumbles
“You did amazing Ken”
“What made you so mad chibi-chan? Your eyes were scary” asks Yaku
“Oikawa-san basically putting you down”
“Awww you defended us!”
“Of course I did” you roll your eyes while still playing with Kenma’s head
“Remember me to not make you angry, you’re scary”
The guys continue talking while, for the first time ever, you feel Kenma arms go around your waist slowly, hugging you lightly and with a little hesitation. You try to not react too much, knowing that he could get shy if you say something, but it's impossible to stop your heart from beating like crazy; after all, he isn’t fond of skinship, so this was rare.
Sadly, you had to move away since you had to organize the things and they wanted to fresh up a little before leaving. Before he goes to the bathroom, you notice a big blush on his cheeks, which just deepens when Kuroo got closer to him to say something. After packing everything you were writing down the results of this match and also some notes about Seijoh and Nekoma plays when you suddenly felt a tap on your shoulder.
“Ehh…sorry for what I said earlier about your team, I was annoyed about loosing” Oikawa says regretfully
“Do you actually mean the apology? Or you just don’t want me cancel your Spanish classes?”
“Both really, Iwa-chan said that I acted like a douchebag, which I did, and I also want you to help me…please?”
“You do it again and I am stopping the classes; and that goes for all my friends, my cats, my foxes and my owls. Got it?”
“Yes ma’am. Here’s my number so you tell me when to start the tutoring, and Iwa-chan put his too just in case. Thanks for helping me, really chibi-chan” says sincerely
“It’s fine, don’t worry”
“Yn-chan, everything ready?” asks the coach
“I need to take the bag with the bottles and I’m done coach”
“Ok, let’s wait in the bus then”
“Sure” you take the bag and said goodbye to Oikawa before walking towards the door, saying goodbye to Iwaizumi right before going out. The team starts arriving to the bus shortly, everyone going to their sits. After arriving to the hotel and eating some dinner together, Kenma goes to your room just like the day before.
“Yn…Thank you” he says suddenly, making you lift up your head from his shoulder
“Eh? Why?”
“Everything really, you help and cheer for us however you can, you’re super nice and comfortable to be around too” he pauses his game, something rare on him, so he can look at you with a smile “I’m glad you came to Nekoma and became our manager”
“I’m glad that I chose Nekoma too” you smile too, feeling your heartbeat race as you put your head back in his shoulder comfortably

Hiii!!! First of all, love Suga as your profile pic!! And love the header imo hehe
But for the ask game! How about 2, 11, 19? I tried to keep it short so I won’t bombard you with them lmao
Happy writing, I love you! 🫶
hehe thank you!! I was getting tired of Tsukki and I haven't made any art recently so Suga it is <3
thank you for the ask :D but you can always send me as many numbers as you want for these things hehe
as usual, I rambled a lot, so under the cut :) I love you more <3 !
2. Talk about a notable time a narrative or character has looked you dead in the eyes and sad "fuck your plan, here's what we're actually doing."
basically ALL kuroken and daisuga scenes in Unravel -- they were not supposed to be such major parts of it but they took over as I wrote them and read more of them. especially the last kuroken chapter where kuroo almost dies lol. also in kintsukuroi, Kenma was not supposed to be sa'd -- that literally came out of nowhere. also in thantophobia: turquoise chapter 4 was a huge surprise, especially the scene with the cop.
11. What's something neat you've learned while doing research for something you're writing? Also, how much do you worry about doing research in general?
okay I don't know if this counts but I was researching Japanese funeral rites for the stars are already dead and I found this one article talking about cremation and it said "In a Japanese style cremation, the coffin is placed on a tray in the crematorium. The family then witnesses the sliding of the body into the cremation chamber, scarring small children for life." And while I am not judging and fully believe this, the way this is written absolutely SENT me and I always think about it.
I do try to do basic research on things, especially because I mostly write for anime that takes place in Japan. I try to look into specific customs and places, but I'm usually not too specific. With the Unravel series, there is also a lot of medical and jury stuff, and I actually do a lot of research on healing times and severity of injuries now. I also do research on characters, looking for little details about them that I could include in a throw away comment (like Mattsun working at a funeral home post time skip, so he easily could tell what the zombies were)
19. What are some books or authors that influenced your style the most?
ohhhh this one is hard. Honestly, I don't read much other than fanfiction nowadays ':) I'm a poetry fan because I like the pretty way words can paint a picture and try to be somewhat poetic with my writing sometimes, so I'm a big fan of Keats, Mary Oliver, Wordsworth. Virginia Woolf is frustrating but I love her, and Sylvia Plath (The Bell Jar). Ocean Vuong is another author I love right now.
SIGF is my favourite fanfic writer, she's amazing at fire emblem stuff, and I always have her in the back of my mind when I'm writing and aspire to write as well as she does. A couple other fanfic writers inspiring me include luneiris, just_quintessentially_me, ChaoticFriendly, Mooifyourecows, to name a few (gotta stop before this turns into a rec list lol)

"You've Always Been My Home"
Having a family of his own had never really occurred to Kenma before. The thought of caring for children was nerve-racking; anxiety-inducing even. They screamed and cried, and they got snot and candy on everything which included gaming systems and Kenma did NOT have the patience to keep that from happening. It wasn't that he disliked dirt and messes, he just didn't want his gaming equipment ruined.
Plus, he wasn't even the parenting type. He spent all his time gaming or working, went to bed at ungodly hours, and didn't do anything that would cause him to unnecessarily use his limited amount of energy.
That, however, changed when Kuroo came back into his life. It'd been three years since he'd seen his best friend, the older male having moved away when he started college. They'd kept in touch via texting and phone calls, but then they'd both gotten busy, and the texts and calls had started happening less and less. So Kuroo showing up at his door with a fourteen-month-old in his arms had been unexpected, to say the least.
They'd needed a place to stay and how could Kenma say no? He had been his best friend after all. Kuroo had told him that he'd tried Akaashi and Bokuto, but they had their hands full with their three kids, two of which were under the age of one.
So they began staying with him, moving into the extra room in his apartment. And weirdly, things were fine, much to Kenma's surprise. The first few days his anxiety had been on high alert, but after seeing how calm and well-behaved Akane was, he'd begun to relax. She did from time to time, reach for his Switch or his Playstation controller, but her hands were never usually sticky or wet with drool when she did, and if they were, Kuroo would stop her and wipe her hands first. He'd tell her "you can't touch those with dirty hands,' and soon she was going up to him when they needed to be wiped.
That had definitely helped Kenma relax even more.
Kuroo promised they would be out of his hair soon, but that had been six months ago. He kept saying the same thing about once a week. He didn't leave. Didn't make a move to do so. Kenma wasn't sure why he was so eager to find a place. It couldn't be too hard for him to find a place, he knew he made good money. He couldn't find himself caring. Kuroo could stay as long as he wanted.
He didn't want to admit it, but he was glad that Kuroo seemed to be putting off leaving. He knew he wouldn't be able to live without him AGAIN. And he and Akane had begun to bond, much to the blond's surprise. They'd shockingly become close, Kenma thinking of her as his own child. Thought of all three of them as a family. He wouldn't be able to live without her either. And he knew if Kuroo moved, things may end up like they had last time; losing touch, never speaking again. So he kept silent.
He kept silent until a month later. Kuroo had given him the same 'promise' once again and Kenma's curiosity had got the better of him. So he asked, "Are you just saying that or do you mean it?" That had come out a lot harsher than he'd meant it and he didn't miss the way Kuroo winced.
"What do you mean?"
"I mean, you've been saying the same thing at least once a week for eight months, but you never make an attempt to leave." Kuroo opened his mouth to respond, but Kenma quickly stopped him by beginning to speak again, "It's not that I don't want you here, I do. I love having you and Akane around, but I just don't know what YOU want. You say one thing, but then do the opposite."
"Have you considered there may be a reason?" At Kenma's blank face, he continued, "I can't stand the thought of losing you again, Kenma. Do you know how miserable I was when we weren't talking? Or that I was so far from you to begin with? Nothing ever felt right without you. Nothing. But now…being here with you, everything just feels right again. Maybe that’s why I keep putting off moving out."
"You were miserable without me?"
"That’s what you focus on? Yes, Kenma, I was miserable without you. Wherever I was I never felt comfortable or happy. The only bit of happiness I felt these past few years was when Akane was born. But everything else? No. None of it made me happy and it was because I wasn't with you."
Kenma gulped, mouth having gone dry. "So…what are you saying?"
"I'm saying I love you Kenma and I've loved you for so fucking long. And I don't want to be without you anymore. I keep putting off moving out because this is my home, you're my home. You've always been my home…"
Kenma didn't even let him say another word. He stepped forward and wrapped his arms around his neck, pulling him down so that he could press his lips to his.
"Then stay. Don't ever leave me again."

HAIKYUU AS T-SWIFT SONGS (2)
synopsis , haikyuu boys in relationships represented through taylor swift songs . angst & fluff !
characters can/will be shown in multiple throughout this series . part one
a/n : part two is now here!! since these will typically be long i’ll probably just do two each.
“ALL I CAN SAY IS, I WAS ENCHANTED TO MEET YOU” — SUGAWARA, DAICHI, kita, and shoyo in enchanted
before we start i would like to say i really like the chorus of this song hehe. anyways, enchanted is most definitely SUGAWARA’S song. he’s the first person that comes to mind when i think of this song. when you first met sugawara, he’s a bit shy but he’s very genuine and kind. his aura is alluring and his positive comments are always cheering those around him up (including you). he’s actually really easy to fall for.. and right away you asked around if he was single. and to your surprise, he was?? ‘literally how? he’s an angel’ is what you thought. becoming deeply infatuated with the young man is a struggle because sugawara is just that enchanting. he’s got you completely hooked on him without even trying to. but unfortunately.. there doesn’t seem like there’s a chance with him. all you can do is pray and hope that there’s not someone else. now DAICHI… you definitely do not see how enchanting this man can be until you really pay close attention. daichi always acknowledges the little things and details, which for some reason made your heart skipped a beat despite being long time friends with him. as you begin to notice these details of daichi, your feelings start to grow. daichi fits this song as he’s a respectable man but also only seems to focus on his self and career, so it seems that you’ll just have to put your feelings aside and just be friends. but that’s alright! you’re happy that out of everyone on the earth, daichi is the one you fell in love with. KITA is somewhat of a different situation. this is because kita tends to not show any emotion. but besides that, you still fall for the silent leader. just like daichi, kita is a respectable man and always notices the little things around him. whenever you’re alone with kita, you feel like you stepped into another dimension. kita is a very intriguing, at least to you he is. even if kita were to coldly reject you, you have a feeling you wouldn’t be upset. after all, what are the chances that you get to cross paths with a man like him? up next is SHOYO! shoyo has a very unique personality which is why he made it into todays cut. he’s actually pretty admiring despite his recklessness. he always strives to better, which inspires you to be better too. you swear you’ve never met someone like him before, and you probably never will again. there’s only one hinata shoyo, and you get to meet him. your interactions with shoyo is definitely something you will never forget as he unintentionally impacts the lives of others for the better.
“IF YOU COULD SEE THAT IM THE ONE WHO UNDERSTANDS YOU” — KUROO, BOKUTO, AKAASHI, atsumu, and tsukishima in you belong with me
YOU BELONG WITH ME!! bokuto would most definitely scream this outside of your front porch. atsumu would be too embarrassed too but do it anyways because of peer pressure. kuroo wouldn’t do it because he thinks it’s uncool (he ended up screaming it later). akaashi doesn’t scream it, but he does say it to you in lowercase letters. tsukishima doesn’t say it at all because he’s much, much more embarrassed too and would rather die (you convince him too later). first, we have KUROO. now, roles are reversed here, so the boys are the ones telling you to escape that trash relationship of yours. kuroo was super supportive of your relationship, even though he did hold romantic feelings towards you. he told himself he wouldn’t interfere though, at least that was the case until he found out what a shitty boyfriend you have. kuroo at first tries to bring it up slowly. he doesn’t want to suddenly start an argument with you, but it’s hard when you try to convince him he isn’t that bad when in reality, he’s the shittiest bf ever. and so, this leads kuroo to just bluntly telling you everything he knows (with evidence) and now comforts you because you truly did like that awful bf (soon ex) of yours. now, kuroo doesn’t tell you about his feelings right away. that’s because his feelings aren’t relevant or important right now. he wouldn’t want to take advantage of your vulnerability and as your friend, he’s going to support you in the best way as possible by putting his own feelings aside. kuroo won’t make any moves, at least not until a long time. but after watching how kuroo’s always been there for you, you’ll probably start to realize you were meant to be with him. if/when BOKUTO finds out about this awful boyfriend of yours, he wouldn’t dive in and sweep you away so quickly (although he would love that idea). bokuto can be rational, sometimes. not to mention he has akaashi helping him! bokuto doesn’t bring it up immediately, but he does try to hint it at you by randomly saying stuff like “wow, did you see that yui’s boyfriend got her flowers? i heard that he does it every week.” because unfortunately your bf doesn’t even bother gifting you anything. while this can hurt your feelings in the process, bokuto brings flowers for you the next day to show you that he can treat you much better. and honestly, one day bokuto might just break out and scream “DUMP THAT BOYFRIEND OF YOURS AND DATE ME INSTEAD!!!” out of frustration. of course this will catch you completely off guard, but it’s so sweet it’s hilarious. do you reject him? you’d be crazy if you did. besides, you had already broken up with your ex yesterday, but it seems that the spiker didn’t know. AKAASHI probably tries to bring up the topic peacefully, but if you keep denying it he’ll eventually become frustrated and just tell you face to face. he’s completely blunt about it, and he has to be. he believes that you should break it off as soon as possible. and if it’s necessary, he’ll probably give you a list onto why he’d be a better boyfriend. this includes not the bare minimum because you should already know your worth, but things he knows you’d appreciate. this song is akaashi’s fight song, and i am all here for it. ATSUMU is the type who just says it straight to you. “break up with your boyfriend, i can treat you much better. can’t you see that?” he’s kinda mean about it at first, but not on purpose. he just really wants you to see how bad of a person your current bf is. TSUKISHIMA is also the same, except i feel like he’d be more self aware and tell you to know you’re own worth.

Why is HE at Angel's? and Where is She?
Warnings: mentions of torture, murder, death, injury, blood, gore, human trafficking, mentions of sexual and physical assault (briefly)
Ennoshita walked back into Angel's Bleeding Hearts, it had been 2 days, and he hadn't received a call letting him know that the floral arrangement was ready yet. To be honest, it kind of worried him, everyone who he had spoken to about the shop had said that she never was late with orders, especially not custom ones like his was, well, unless she was sick or extremely injured. So he decided that even though he didn't want to be one of THOSE people, he was going to go ask about it and make sure the young lady was alright. He couldn't place his finger on why he cared so much about her, he had just met her, but he felt protective of her already. Maybe he'd see if his boss would put her under the family's protection. Yes, Ennoshita was part of a mafia family, the Karasuno family to be exact. He was the finance guy, and one of the snipers and assassins that were there. Kinoshita, Narita, and him, were jokingly called the forgotten trio, which was good. It meant that no one noticed them, which made jobs easier. He knew if he were to try to convince his boss about giving the floral shop protection, it would be extremely difficult. The head of the family is extremely cautious about trusting businesses at all. He shook off the thought for now, and walked into the shop, setting his focus on making sure the young owner was okay.
Ennoshita walked up to the counter and gently rang the bell, signaling that someone was out front. He expected the H/c haired young lady to walk out and greet him. What he wasn't expecting though, was the mop of tangerine orange hair that rushed out to the front. "Hinata, what are YOU doing here? Where is Angel? How do you know her?" The older male questioned. The young male glared at him, "why do you care?" He snarled, "come to finish what those three couldn't?" Hinata pointed at the pictures of the three Karasuno members who had injured Y/n, pictures that, were placed under the banned person list for the employees to see. Ennoshita couldn't believe the cold tone Hinata was using with him, normally this kid was as hyper as can be, why was he so hostile now? What happened to make him this way? "Hinata, what happened to Angel? I came here a couple days ago to order an arrangement for my mother, she said she would have it done today. Is she okay?" He questioned quietly, worried now about the young women's wellbeing. Hinata walked to the door, looked around for anyone who could be spying on them, locked the door and motioned for Ennoshita to follow him to the back. Once there, he explained everything that had happened, including how she was with Nekoma currently in a coma. He quickly got the arrangement ready, and before Ennoshita could leave he said one more thing. "Don't tell anyone where I am, I left the house as soon as I heard what happened, and I'm not going back until everything is sorted out properly." Ennoshita nodded his said, letting Hinata know that he wouldn't tell anyone, and walked outside to go deliver the flowers to his mother.
At Nekoma
Lev sat by Y/n's side. He hadn't moved in the two days she's been there, not to eat not to sleep, nothing could drag him away from her. The others tried, trust me, they tried hard to get Lev to take care of himself, they even called his sister and mother in, nothing worked. It was different this time though, Yaku brought in his breakfast and a change of clean clothing, promising to keep an eye on her and keep her safe if Lev showered and ate. Kuroo and Kenma brought in his lunch and dinner and sat and visited with him. When he asked why they were being so kind, they told him that they had never seen him so worried for someone before, and that they would support and help him out when they could, but that he had to help himself too. They told him that the girl laying on the bed would be upset, no, mad as hell, if she found out he wasn't taking care of himself. He nodded and promised to take better care of himself, while still being there in case Y/n woke up. Her coloring was way better, she didn't look like she was about to die anymore, and her wounds were healing pretty well for how severe they were. That gave Lev some peace of mind, that his half-sister, no, his sister, was going to be okay. They still didn't know when she was going to wake up, but they weren't too worried about it yet. They talked about how to explain things when she woke up, including why she was there. They wrote a note and placed it on the table, in case she woke up when no one was in the room. They also decided that they would accompany her when she confronted Karasuno about the attempt on her life. Like it or not, she was family now, she was family to both the Nekoma and Fukurodani groups, seeing as how the leaders of the groups, Kuroo and Bokuto, were childhood best friends, the two groups got along great. Lev also ended up explaining how Y/n knew Shoyo and his sister. He was just finishing up with that story, when Shoyo called to check in on Y/n's condition, and to let him know about Ennoshita and what he knows about the situation, further confirming that the three who had tried to kill Y/n, were not cleared to do so by the leader of the family, that they had acted independently, which could get them killed by the group. After Kuroo told Hinata that he and his sister were always welcome at Nekoma, Lev hung up and called the Shadow Hounds group line to give them and update as well. After an extremely short conversation with them, he hung up and gently held Y/n's hand. The other two left, and Lev laid his head down on the bed, his hand holding Y/n's, and watched her until he fell asleep. He woke up about 8 hours later, he only woke up because he felt the hand he was holding shift, then squeeze his gently. His head shot up, and he smiled wide as he saw the E/c eyes gazing back at him, slightly confused as to where they were. "Y/n! You're awake! Oh thank god!! You're safe you're at the Nekoma house, some people tried to kill you, but you survived and you're going to be okay." He said, tears in his eyes. The girl nodded her head and whispered that she was glad he was there when she woke up, and that she was going to go back to bed since she was still tired. She then closed her eyes and, with a soft smile, she fell asleep again.

Kuroo knew Kenma wasn't the most romantic person in the world, but since Kodzuken appeared he was practically forced to be aware of the date, so the algorithm will be kind to him.
Halloween, christmas, anything. He'll need to be aware to play something according to the occasion.
Sometimes he'll do a casual blog, like mother's day, a simple recipe, a day outside with him, just daily things.
But there was a certain festivity Kenma avoided like the plague, trying to be untraceable for the weekend.
Valentine's day.
Kuroo knew about Kenma's crush.
Most importantly, Kuroo new the pain of unrequited love. So, every Valentine's day he'll appear with apple pie and beer, some stupid cards with cat-puns and a movie, just to check out on him.
Fearing every year to interrupt something.
Sometimes he felt selfish for doing it.
Maybe Kenma wanted to be alone and see some old matches, maybe that's why he isolated himself.
Maybe it was selfish to force his friend to spend the most romantic day with him, knowing his feelins. Does that make his intentions impure?
He tried to force himself to remember.
Kenma will kick him out no shame if he didn't wanted him there.
Another year arrived and another Valentine's day was there, so Kuroo was ready.
He got the cheesiest move he could, musical included, maybe he'll manage to cuddle Kenma when boredom will lully him to sleep.
He got a beautiful bouquet of roses, expensive perfume on him, hair somehow tamed for the ocassion and a plastic bag full of things for the evening as he arrived to the Kozume residence.
"My love, your date is he-"
"The door is open, Kuro"
Kenma's voice was grumpier than usual.
He looked tired and hurt, like he didn't even took a shower, not even stopping to greet him.
Kuroo bite the inside of his cheek, taking his shoes off in the genkan, letting his confidence slip out there too, thinking if he really overstepped Kenma's boundaries this year.
"Uhm, sorry for the inconvenience" He murmured softly, shrinking despite his height, like all the air in his lungs was suddenly gone.
"You're never sorry about that" Kenma answered, eyebrows arching hard.
"I can go If you want?" Kuroo asked, hidding the roses, feet stuck.
Kenma noticed the roses and massaged the bridge of his nose.
"No, I'm being an asshole. I'm sorry. Bad day"
And it was probably a hell of a day, his eyebags were dark and swollen, like he hasn't sleeped in a month and cried in the process.
His hair was dirty and greasy.
"Oh, uh. I'm here to be your company in a romantic dinner?"
"As you can see,I'm not exactly ready for a restaurant"
Kuroo's heart squeezed at the snarky smile and glassed eyes, he let the roses down the entry table and the bag slip between his fingers.
"You're beautiful, Kenma"
He walked up to face him and pulled his best friend's head to his chest and covered his body with his own in a thight hug.
"No matter how you look, you always look beautiful to me"
"You're really in character this year, isn't it?" He mumbled bitterly against the expensive shirt.
Kuroo's grip tightened, feeling an inmense desolation as if Kenma's pain was radiating throught him.
"My service, baby" He faked confidence, smiling sadly.
"Can't you just say I'm awful looking and get wasted? You'll make my day easier."
"Nope" He kissed the crown of his head.
Kenma smiled sadly and pushed him appart.
"Okay, enough, just let your stuff on the kotatsu"
Kuroo pushed the roses against Kenma's face grinning.
"You're beautiful, but you do smell awful too"
"Get out of my house"
"Work is a bitch, life is worse. Go get a shower, love you"
Kenma's middle finger was in his face in no time, so he kissed it as a reflex.
"I'll get things done, just take your time and relax."
"Fine, but fuck you too"
Kuroo bite back the comment he wanted to say, Kenma wasn't in the mood for teasing.
"Go, I'll get you fresh clothes"
Kenma's silhouette was quickly out of his gaze, so he took his sweet time to organize everything in his bag.
The champagne and cheese table were expensive looking compared to the cute apple pie and beer cans, but he wanted to have everything Kenma would want at the moment.
He had chips and other snacks waiting to be served until something got his attention. Kenma's usual love-letters, well. Kodzuken's love letters and his phone.
The screen flashed urgently.
Kenma !!
Kenma please don't cry (╯︵╰,)
If I only knew before I-
Shoyo (´,,•ω•,,)
Kuroo's stomach dropped and suddenly he felt as a fool, all the romantic decorations carefully packed on the bag feeling stupid as his eyes suddenly were tingling.
He took the phone in his hands for a second, should he read the convo?
Did...they fight?
Did...Kenma confessed?
Kuroo's hands were shaking. He wanted to cry, but he took a deep breath.
No, If anything, that message meant he was right.
Kenma needed support right now, no matter what happened and he was there to make the day the less miserable he could.
"What are you doing with my phone?"
And there was Kenma, beautiful and breathtaking Kenma, a very naked and rosy Kenma, in a towell and underwear.
Kuroo chocked on his own spit.
"Sorry, you got a message and-"
"Did you read it?" Kenma asked scared, violently, trying to get the phone out of his grip.
"No"
That answer seemed to be the correct one, Kenma inmediatly calmed down, hugging the phone against his chest, looking so small and vulnerable
Kuroo wanted to hold him again.
"Could you please get me some clothes?"
"Sure, sorry I took it"
"Sorry I'm a mess today"
"No worries"
Kuroo went throught the closet with a heavy heart, but decided to make Kenma's day better getting his usual Nekoma sweats and comfy socks.
His eyes lingered for a second and he took one of his hoodies, inhaling his best friend scent in there.
He couldn't help but being selfish.
He loved the inmature feeling of ownership as he used his clothes, not really caring if he didn't had anything casual to wear anymore.
"Alright, my prince's royal attire is here" Kuroo faked composture as he got closer to the Kotatsu were Kenma was under, searching for heat.
"God, I'm freezing" He whispered as he shimmied out from under the kotatsu, shaking softly.
Kuroo's eyes drank the image of Kenma's so incredibly soft looking skin as he handled him the clothes. Maybe he was delirious, but he could swear he took his sweet time to get dressed.
His mouth felt dry as the delicious sight of his long legs got slowly covered, using all his strenght to not open them and bite those milky thighs inside, so soft and slighty plushy after getting out of high school work out routine,he wanted to press him against the kotatsu and-
"Once you stop looking at my ass could you help me dry my hair?"
"KYANMAAA"
Kenma chuckled for the first time of the night, a sad giggling, but Kuroo felt his chest warmer.
"Can't I appreciate the beauty of my best friend?" He murmured blushing as he searched for the hair dryer.
Kenma didn't answered, sight lost on the walls, thinking. He took a second to see the hoodie being placed over his abdomen, covering his beloved collarbones and pink nubbles in a second. He'll do anything to kiss his entire body until all those worries will leave his heart.
"Alright," Kuroo said as he placed himself behind Kenma, whose legs were still hiding under the kotatsu. "Now, isn't this feel better, baby?"
"Less sore, I guess" Kenma answered with a lost sight
Kuroo smiled sadly, something definitely was off with his best friend today.
As he was about to turn the hair dryer on, Kenma's voice brought him back to reality.
"Have you ever noticed-" He interrupted himself. "Doesn't matter"
"Tell me"
"My house"
"What about it?"
"You have it memorized"
"I know, that's what happens when you share your life with someone"
Kenma's lips sealed in a tight line, so Kuroo took it as a green light to start his work.
Kenma's hair was longer as ever, also softer, now that most of it wasn't dyed, Kuroo loved it completely, the dark roots, the pudding hair, the longer one. He could remember so many things just by looking as his hair.
He brushed the long strands in a gentle motion applying the heat with extremely care to not burn his skin, wondering where was the last time Kenma combed it properly. Kenma's blissed smile and rosy cheeks eased his worries as he handled him a tie.
He'll love to braid it, but a low bun will work, Kenma's scalp probably needed a rest too.
He placed a kiss at his now uncovered neck, making Kenma squeak.
"Hey!"
"Warmth really make you day dream, isn't it?"
Kenma's embarassed face was a gift to the world. Cute, so kissable.
"Thanks" He muttered.
"So, what now?"
"The best date in the world is here Kyanma, have no fear!"
"Where is he?" He said with a flat face.
"You're the worst Kyanma"
"And somehow you always prefer to keep coming back instead of getting a cute girl"
Kuroo breath hitched.
"Of course"

how would haikyuu boys handle the quarantine? feat. pretty setter squad
sugawara koushi
respects the quarantine a lot
it’d be very hard to get him out of the house especially when it involves other people
has stocked up on literally every kind of canned food
“we don’t need to go to target, we’ve got a house full of food !!”
gets up at about 9 - 10 am
but he likes to sleep early
if you don’t sleep early, he doesn’t mind staying up with you if you ask him to but don’t expect much of him since he’s most likely out like a light after 11
he makes sure you wash your hands every other hour
it’s kinda repetitive but he cares yknow
eventually you’ll get so bored of staring at the same things that you promp him to go out with you
he’ll say no the first five times
and you’re just like 🥺
he’ll eventually agree but on the condition of bringing alcohol wipes and surgical masks
“NO DAICHI WE AREN’T ACCEPTING COMPANY !! ITS THE LAW !!”
kageyama tobio
he’s a baby
take care of him please
tbh if the two of you aren’t living together, you most likely have to be the one to help him stock on food and necessities
but if you do share a house/apartment then he’d go grocery shopping with you every now and then to make sure you don’t run out of stuff
i’m talking you in the shopping cart and him complaining about it being heavy but not letting you get off
once you get back in the car though he makes sure to put sanitizer on both your hands and the moment you get home, he reminds you to wash them
his sleeping habits are kinda out there
most of the time he sleeps early, but there are times when you see him on the couch under a weighted blanket scrolling through tiktok at 3 am
no matter what time he sleeps though, he always get up at either 9 am or 2 pm
no in between
if he wakes up at 2 pm then that’s because he doesn’t want to let go of his grasp on you
is the big spoon all the time
and no you’re not gonna get to squirm out of his embrace, i’m sorry
kenma kozume
i’m just gonna be blunt here
this kid is grateful for the quarantine
of course he’s distasteful for the pandemic and stuff but c’mon he’s a teenage boy with a full ass gaming system and you think this isn’t a life he’s dreamt of?
like kags, you’d most likely have to be the one to make sure he’s stocked up on food and stuff
whenever you both would go grocery shopping together he’d always go for the junk food like sodas and lays chips
knowing this fully well, you get the things needed to actually make a proper meal
y’all know damn well this boy goes to sleep at 6 am and wakes up at 2 pm
it’s how his body clock has adapted and there’ll be times he’ll try to sleep with you at 11 pm but he’s just staring at the ceiling and moving and flinching and at this point even you can’t fall asleep with all the ruckus he’s causing
“K E NM A LEAVE THE BED”
“no, i’m trying to be productive by sleeping early and then i’ll wake up early then we can have a good day together.”
“baby i’m sorry but neither of us will be able to sleep at all if you DON’T GODDAMN LEAVE”
when he’s not gaming or having kuroo yell at him for barely participating in his online classes, he likes to have you in his embrace
most of the time if you’re not up doing daily things, the two of you are in bed just hugging
or you’re in the living room scrolling through tiktok and he’s in the bedroom also scrolling through tiktok
and when you both find a funny video you call to each other and then show it and go back to doing your thing
goals ngl
oikawa tooru
no
if i were to be stuck in the house for a month with this man i would cry
he’s a morning person for fucks sake
he gets up at 8 am and goes to bed before 11 pm and yes he will drag your ass in and out of bed so you guys can start and end the day together
it’s so sweet i’m not gonna lie but holy fuck my dude
he goes on morning walks and runs and sometimes he’ll ask you to come with him and tells you you’re missing out if you say no
but most of the time he’ll let you sleep in when he’s gone and you wake up to either your favorite starbucks drink or a protein shake he made you
oikawa tooru = healthy quarantine lifestyle
the two of you have cabinets and pantries full of food, both healthy and absolute junk
he tries his best to steer away from that stuff though but sometimes he doesn’t mind eating through them when you two are on the couch and binging old nickelodeon shows
with his bad knee, you also take into consideration how important it is to be exercising and keeping his regimen up
so even if you cry blood from running with him too much, you never mind coming with him since it’s for him to get better
he’s like one of those white moms who’s always out for a walk and always cleaning the house
whenever the two of you would go out for a quick raid in target or walmart, he always has to hold your hand
because “who knows what’s out there now that the world is ending, babe? gotta keep you safe.”
bro i love him so much i miss his stupid face oikawa i didn’t mean it come back home baby
akaashi keiji
when i tell you this man deserves an award for being the best boyfriend on earth
ugh he’s just so ? perfect
quarantine life with akaashi !!! is so !! romantic and domestic and beautiful
he insists on going grocery shopping alone, keys in his hand, him wearing a jacket over his hoodie, jeans and sneakers with a cross chain
this man is a sight for sore eyes
but even if he does insist on going alone so you can just sit back and not get exposed to the corona
you always tell him you like it when you’re with him especially when you do domestic stuff like shopping together and driving together at night with the windows down
when you’re shopping together, he’s the one who pushes the cart with his right hand and his left hand is intertwined with yours
you go pick out the stuff you like to buy and he tells you whether or not to put it back because let’s be honest he’s 90% of your wise decision making
he’s a light sleeper who has a good bed time
but when he wakes up at 2 am to see you leaning against the bed frame with the comforter over your head watching tiktoks
he doesn’t mind propping himself up next to you as he leans his head on your shoulder and watches what’s on your fyp
(he falls asleep there 97.9% of the time)
you love him
