Following the Toriel ask, did Clover explain that they willingly sacrificed themselves and if so, how did she react? If not, how did Toriel think they died?

i think they did. toriel would be the first and probably only adult for a while that they would tell their true feelings too.

they would tell toriel it was alright, because they got to meet so many new friends and got a family out of it. they sacrificed themselves for THEM, for monsters. that dying was terrifying, but they dont regret it, so its alright, she shouldnt feel bad about it.

but toriel would still tell them that no, it was her job to protect them. they never should have died in the first place. she should have left the ruins, tracked down clover, and save them herself. because she is an adult, and they shouldnt have had a choice like that put on their shoulders. because clover is just a child.

and clover would cry, and sob, and agree, because dying and making that choice was so scary, it was the ONLY choice, and while they dont regret it they never thought they would come back. they thought it was over forever. but they’re grateful for toriels support and comfort and for telling them that it was unfair. because it was, and they hadnt heard anyone tell them that

I can't sleep, so don't be surprised if nothing in this post makes sense (it does in my head, but who am I to talk, right?)

I really like character analysis and things like that, Liko and Amethio are my favorite characters from Horizons, and there are many interesting parallels between the two that I keep discussing with myself in my head. Amethio is a character who is used very sparcely, but whenever he is around, something important happens or is happening, which is intriguing, to say the least.

So, starting with the Gibeon and Lucius thing. I don't think Gibeon is actually Ametio's grandfather (his father's father). If Gibeon really knew Lucius, then he was alive for about 100 years, and it seems unlikely to me that he would have a grandson as young as Amethio at that age. My headcanon is that Gibeon is higher up in the family tree, and Amethio just calls him grandfather for sake of simplicity (also it would be kind of weird to say great-great-great-great-grandfather).

An idea that had crossed my mind after episode 54 is the following: Lucius (Liko's ancestor) and Gibeon (Amethio's ancestor) were friends. Hamber (I don't think he has any blood relationship with Amethio, but he acts like a grandfather figure to him) and Diana (Liko's grandfather) were friends. This made me wonder if Amethio's father (who failed his mission or betrayed the Explorers, we don't know) had known or even been friends with Luca, Liko's mother. Luca hasn't met Amethio, and we don't even know if Liko talked about him to her, so a meeting between the two would be nice, and could clarify some things.

(I'm not going to talk about the theory that the president of the company Friede worked for is Amethio's father, just for the record)

It's interesting to me that, as a pendant, Terapagos only activated that protective shield twice, and both times, Amethio was involved. Diana says that nothing ever happened to the pendant when it was with her, and maybe that's because it takes a relative of Lucius and a relative of Gibeon nearby to awaken Terapagos? So Terapagos only woke up when Liko and Amethio met, and when Terapagos left the pendant form permanently, Amethio was nearby (we know he watched the whole Moltres mess in episode 23). And when Terapagos first entered terastal form, guess who was nearby? It's a pattern. Whenever something relevant about Lucius and his Pokémon is happening, Amethio is nearby. The only exception was Arboliva at the beginning of the anime (Spinel was watching, but he doesn't seem to have anything to do with this Lucius thing)

A really cool parallel between the two is that both Liko and Amethio have two Pokémon, one from Paldea and one from Galar (Floragato and Ceruledge for Paldea, and Hattrem and Corviknight for Galar). Could it be pure coincidence? It could. But what's the fun in watching a series and thinking it's all a coincidence?

I have to rewatch the entire series with a notepad to catch all the parallels between these two, because, seriously, there are a lot. Liko and Amethio are in completely opposite situations: Liko is supported by the adults around her, she gains training, affection and comfort. Amethio has none of that. His co-workers despise him (Sango calls Amethio pampered, and it is said that Spinel literally hates him), and a huge weight is placed on his shoulders, for being related to Gibeon and wanting to prove himself to him.

Amethio's part in the second opening still gets me to this day. He's in a dark room, training, falls to the floor, and the lyrics say "run, towards my future".

The question I have is: does Amethio have a future outside of the Explorers? Does he have any idea how wrong his situation and the way people treat him are? Does he have any idea that he could leave the Explorers behind and be happy? That he owes them nothing?

The answer to all these questions is obvious: No. No, he doesn't know. No, he has no idea. Amethio believes in what he is doing. The only reason he's in the Explorers is because he's Gibeon's grandson. He doesn't have a personal ambition, like Spinel, and he doesn't like to set everything on fire like Sango. He is a teenager.

I hope to see a lot more of Ametio in this arc. And, most importantly, I want him and Liko to interact!!!

Had a lovely disheartening conversation with my mother where she reveals that she's always been completely disinterested in all of my interests because she thinks that stories are "garbage" and despite my trying to explain it to her several times, does not understand that they can convey meaning relevant to the real world.
