Traditionally sung by local choirs in the Lombard valleys during i Tri Di dla Mèrla (‘the three days of the she-blackbird’, namely January 29th, 30th and 31st, the coldest days of the year) as part of the Canti dla Mèrla (‘chants for the she-blackbird’) repertoire, to ward off the spirits of January and the Cold.
