I forgot that Grimsley is Steel-weak so...time to test Striker Perrserker! Mine is 4*, the first two pictures are accompanied with two 6*EX supports to accumulate sync buffs but with little to no Sp. Def debuffs (because I forgot to change SC Jasmine's build to Absorb Mind Games 4). First picture is after SC Jasmine's sync, and second picture is after Skyla's sync, with total 4 stacks of sync buffs.

The third picture was accompanied by Lucian, after SC Jasmine's sync, with -4 Sp. Def debuff and +5 Sp. Atk (Grimsley's stage is kinda annoying because they love to spam Snarl). The fourth picture was with max Sp. Def debuffs, and with Power Reserves 2 active.

My verdict? Striker Perrserker wasn't so bad. Not as powerful as Raihan, of course, but still good. And as expected, SC Jasmine is the best partner, not only for theme skills, but also for fast buff offensively and defensively while also adding regen to negate recoil damage+Endure for Power Reserves, and can debuff occasionally. Steel-weak Grimsley was very physical-oriented so it wasn't the perfect stage to test SC Jasmine+Striker Perrserker combo even with Lucian, but if I remember correctly Steel-weak Glacia uses a lot of special moves, so a perfect one for SC Jasmine and Perrserker.

So, yeah. I think Striker Perrserker might be able to go against Glacia.

So... Depending on how you structure Omnikids you could make Deena and James not know each other by simply making James a thing after Deena already switched sides. That one complicates things, I'll skip over it for now, but it's worth mentioning

James is Omnicron's 7th child. Often interpreted as the golden Child and/or the heir.

Deena, is the traitor. Omnicron's 4th child.

James took a bit to get his plan of reviving his siblings going - and Malk said they knew each other for a while, so it's probably been rocky.

Maybe James didn't know where Deena was - not impossible, or maybe he just didn't want to talk to her because while yes, she'd come in useful (life powers and all,) she already betrayed them.

You can think or not think she helped Ulzar, but at the very least she stood against Omnicron and refused to attack humans. She chose them over her family (not that it was a proper one)

So I don't think James wants to talk. They wouldn't have anything to say. Not to her, not after everything. (Though I do think some part of him really wants to. Despite rough patches, you were born knowing your siblings. When you grow up with them, you carry a part of their personality whether you want it or not. ) Plus after Omnicron literally disowned her, I don't think he even wants to risk the same

Deena - I don't know what she's been doing for a bit. I know she was in the netherworld for a while after n1 and between n1 postgame, but I can just assume she was in the forest pre n1. Which, in hindsight, is pretty obvious. James wouldn't even need to look far. Perhaps that's why Khan stayed the Overseer, cuz he doesn't necessarily bother there

I would like to think Deena tried at least once to say something. To convince him otherwise. He was alive, and they were the only two living Omnikids at that point. I don't think it went well, but she probably tried.

Then n1 happens. Deena is only with us in Forest, Phantom, Lateria and bit of Frozen. Only in Lateria do they truly get to see each other, right as James revives Grunda. Deena doesn't say anything. Not to James, not in general.

What can she even try to say? She's about to help the hero fight her own older brother - who let's be honest was probably a better parental figure than Omnicron - and quite probably kill him. She can't even say anything for her case. She can't even say sorry because she knows it's probably worthless.

They then don't talk. Because James is at top of the tower and Deena is quietly in the shadows. I like to think with Deena healing you and stopping your nexomon from turning - he knew. He had to have knew. He said nothing, and neither did she.

Because Omnicron was there, and because it's not worth it to say anything that could anger Omnicron on James' side (especially because while there's hatred I don't think it's all hatred. Not to his older sister), and not to blow her cover for Deena.

Because she has to do this. Her siblings may hate her, that she can handle, but she can do this for humanity. Just once more(if that wasn't a lie.)

And that was the last time the two saw each other in canon. In a way, I think if they just talked to each other - I don't know. Something different would have happened.

My Sidney is from Virbank, Unova, hence the heavy New Jersey accent (which is fun to write~) I got inspo for his accent from Here, Here (smoking tw), and Here. He's also Omnisexual and technically cis, but doesn't really give a fuck about gender other than that. I also basically channel a bit of Tulio and Miguel from Road to El Dorado. Random, but they're so fucking funny and dorky, yet try and act suave and mysterious. ANYWAY-

He comes off as very boisterous and can have an attitude, depending on who's talking to him, how and why. In reality, he's actually a nice guy, loyal friend, a total dork, and a sweetheart. He's not afraid to stand up for himself and others, and would probably fight someone if they were fucking with any of his loved ones. His battling style is very offensive, meaning he's all about attack and power over buffers and defense, and in away I think this also shows through his personality too.

When he was younger he was a "problem child", mostly because of his... shitty home life and parents, and got into trouble A LOT. Even slept a couple nights in jail as a teen. Much like Grimsley, he enjoys casinos and gambling, although he's not as "addicted" as his friend is. However, rather than card games (besides poker), he enjoys mostly dice and roulette games instead. He also enjoys playing pool at bars (usually against Glacia and Drake) but will also play with whoever wants to.

He's very supportive of young trainers, and will go out of his way to give them advice and give them battling tips. He sees himself in a lot of kids and teens, and is actually very patient and kind towards them, especially if he suspects they live a life similar to his own childhood.

With significant others, he always makes a point to make them feel loved, and is VERY physically affectionate towards them. He enjoys gift giving as a sign of love (romantic, platonic, familial, etc), and likes spending time with them as well. He enjoys flirting with his SOs or any interests, where he comes off as "suave" (either seriously or playfully) and likes to make the other laugh.

Also, much like my Piers muse, he also goes by a punk code, and is respectful towards others and stands up for minorities as well. Unlike Piers however, he can be a bit more aggressive towards authority figures and will fight back if he has to. Course, he doesn't physically fight others as much as he did as a kid, but he'll throw a punch if some asshole is in his face, threatening him. He's also known to be at protests and riots, and isn't afraid to give them his full support and help.

I think... that's it mostly? So sorry about the wall of text lmao, I hope this helps you! And also remember, these are just suggestions! You're allowed to write Sidney as you see fit, have fun with it! He has SO MUCH POTENTIAL, and it's sad that not very many people make fanfics and fanart of him (and dont even get me started on how some of these fics will portray him as a sleezeball and overall shitty person. I won't go into detail, but It's disgusting at times and makes me so disappointed cuz there's so little with him to begin with).

So I've been wanting to do this for a while, this being going through the Dex in Masters and going over what Pokemon I think certain Trainers SHOULD have been given as their initial pair (or at least instead of certain Pokemon they DID end up getting). So, here we go:

MC and Litten: I mean, if you're gonna give us an unevolving base form Fire starter, then why wouldn't you give us Litten, when you know The Masked Royal is getting Incineroar either way, and May is ultimately gonna want Blaziken with Brendan getting Sceptile?!? Major ball dropped there, DeNA!

Leaf and Charmander-Charmeleon-Mega Charizard Y: Mostly because I'm baffled Bill still isn't in this game (Happy Eevee Day 2024, everybody!), but if nothing else this establishes her as an equal protagonist to Red, she can still get Venusaur for her Sygna Suit, and she's clearly getting Blastoise via Mix Scout! But then Red has to get a Blastoise alt somewhere... Meh. Give him Gigantamax Blastoise and just leave Honey with Venusaur when she comes.

Lyra and Marill: I'm sorry, she's CLEARLY the HGSS neighbor, yet to this day we have no sign of her Marill?!?!? Make it make sense, DeNA!

Kris and Meganium: With Lyra getting Marill, obviously Meganium goes to Kris.

Silver and Totodile-Croconaw-Feraligatr: He did end up getting it via Lodge, but if Lyra gets Marill like she's SUPPOSED TO, then there's no need for that nonsense!

Bugsy and Scyther: I mean, we DID get that pair for free in the end, but I don't see why Beedrill was the play when it didn't necessarily need to be.

Morty and Ho-oh: Not shiny Ho-oh, REGULAR Ho-oh! Gengar was off the table anyway, so why NOT give him the Ho-oh he'd been longing for?!

Pryce and Piloswine-Mamoswine: Inexcusable that he didn't have this from the word go!

Janine and Venomoth: Once again, WHY WASN'T HER CANON ACE HER BASE PAIR?!?

Eusine and Haunter: Could've played off of it being ridable in Let's Go, and thus Eusine's preferred transport.

May and Torchic-Combusken-Mega Blaziken: Once again, MC could've had Litten, which wouldn't actually CONFLICT with anything, and then her Anniversary alt with Latias becomes her Sygna Suit! And it's replaced by Elesa and Therian Thundurus, I dunno.

Glacia and Walrein: Once again, arbitrarily not giving a Trainer their ace WHY again?!?

Barry and Staraptor: So let me get this straight: you KNEW Infernape was off-limits to the protags because of Flint, and yet you give Barry Empoleon, leaving Dawn to settle for Torterra, which against all canon is STRONG to Torterra instead of weak to it?!?

Candice and Froslass: If your plan was to establish PLATINUM as the canon game, then it stands to reason you would give Candice her PLATINUM ace, does it not?!?

Volkner and Electivire: Same applies here!

Aaron and Drapion: So let me get this straight: Hala, a FIGHTING specialist, comes to the game as an ICE unit, yet Aaron can't get HIS ace off-type?!? DeNA, what are you smoking, and may I PLEASE have some?!?

Bertha and Hippowdon: She already came that way, I'm just pointing out that I'm cool with Bertha not getting Rhyperior given she dropped post-BDSP.

Flint and Magmortar: Flint ESPECIALLY needed his Platinum ace when you consider his Infernape inherently fucks everything for Lucas and Dawn!

Lucian and Bronzong: I have no idea what you give Thorton in this case. Maybe Porygon2? Forretress?

Marlon and Jellicent: Arbitrarily not giving certain Trainers their ace again!

Caitlin and Gothitelle: Here we go again with random Trainers not getting their ace! I guess it's the Pokemon Alder represents her with in the PWT, but by that logic, he uses Krookodile for Grimsley!

Calem and Froakie-Frogadier-Greninja: No issues with Espurr being his base, but then why is HIS Neo Champion Greninja shiny and not Serena's?!?

Viola and Meadow Pattern Vivillon: She could very easily have gotten Frosmoth during her Holiday event, rather than a randomly wrong pattern Vivillon!

Ramos and Gogoat: DeNA and not giving Trainers their aces, name a more iconic duo!

Olympia and Female Meowstic: This is a very disturbing trend, DeNA!

Siebold and Barbaracle: Here we go again with Trainers randomly not getting their ace!

Drasna and Noivern: This is an ESPECIALLY egregious case of a Trainer not getting their ace, since DRAGAGLE AND NOIVERN WERE BOTH IN THE GAME BEFORE DRASNA EVER WAS!!! There's no goddamn excuse for dropping this ball so hard!

Lillie and Solgaleo: Should've gotten the one from the Legendary Event. Or at least give that to Soliera...

Lusamine and Bewear: I know Lusamine has no true ace, but Bewear is the best parallel to her smothering affection for Lillie and Gladion, so I was SORELY disappointed when she came with Pheromosa.

Anabel and Guzzlord: I dunno, I really wanted her to get a Guzzlord. Come with a cute story about how she thought it would kill her, but it only inspected her for a bit before she decided to catch it. Maybe add some flavor text about its codename being Glutton, yet only eating when she feeds it and just, generally being a very good boi.

Anniversary Raihan and Regidrago: Really?! You REALLY can't be bothered to give him a Legendary like the other two Trainers in that event?!?

Wow... I did NOT realize just how many Trainers DeNA denied their actual aces! By my count, 16 if we don't count the Platinum aces! Obviously there were some I didn't count for reasons of dupes (Lt. Surge and Raichu), future appearances (Grimsley and Bisharp) or reasons of synergy between certain pairs (Clay and Excadrill), but some had next to no logic behind them and were baffling to me.

Off-type clear against Sinnoh, now in the 3k meta. It was bad, guys. It was really bad.

Vs. Aaron Was thinking about Zinnia, decided to run the old Dark team here. She crushed it, as usual. Though man, Akari out here throwing around casual 30k damage off-type is hysterical. Girl is a menace. I do think NC Calem has issues with her, though. Like I'm sorry, but the 2 gauge cost, while fairly insignificant most of the time, actively hinders Akari's ability to throw out Ceaseless Edge turn 1. It's just messy, is my point.

Vs. Bertha Ground Battle. Halloween Roxanne needed her moment to kill, and kill she did. Okay, fine, Maxie did most of the killing. He has much better DPS, but Roxanne set him up, and if we'd gotten to second sync she would've obliterated the field.

Vs. Flint Okay so I hate the Flint fights, he's constantly a pest. I initially wanted to Irida clear, but frankly the 3k adjustment may be too much for her alone. The usual allies aren't keep pace, and Glacia's not exactly solving our life issues either, much to my frustration. We're too reliant on freeze chances at exactly the right time. I wasn't in the mood for it. So we shifted to Looker Fam. Emma can get the job done, though honestly the heavy increase in HP parameters even on offense does hurt her potential. Anabel needs to hit a post-sync flinch to give Emma the wiggle room to clear, and even then you really want Looker's Poison Jab DPS in on this. It doesn't seem like it should matter as much as it does, but it does matter.

Vs. Lucian I opted to go for Dragons here. I kinda regret not using Champion Iris for this, her flinch rate would've been helpful, but something about off-typing Sinnoh with a bottom-tier pair like base Iris was delightful. NY Clair is pretty good, but I admit there are issues. Specifically, when Lucian threw out physical moves she tanked beautifully but never hit the half HP marker for her second application of trainer move, but when he threw out Psychic she'd drop like a rock. So she effectively never got to do her job fully. Nate also takes first sync for the Dragon Zone, which gives fantastic multiplicative benefit to the team's damage, moreso than what Clair could provide as a support. What I'm saying is I don't think this is the optimal use of her talents. I expected more benefit for Iris, but it's just an alternate approach to H!Caitlin without the higher Circle threshold.

Vs. Cynthia "How ridiculous can NC Rosa really be?" you may wonder. The answer, it turns out, is hella. Permanent Sandstorm with all the effects that Cynthia gets from it, and she not only took all the hits thrown at her, she took sync. I know Lucian's here too, and contributing massively to that survival, but like...we're all in agreement this is fucked, right? Absolutely bananas. Caitlin is having the time of her life out here.

10/20 Tackling the Elite 4

Today I was supposed to beat the elite 4. the first 2 matches against the Dark and Ghost type elites was a breeze. With no casualties. But the Glacia was different. Her Walrein was surprisingly bulky. Mawile struggled against it and couldn't endure the two surfs it threw at it. Mega (Blaziken) swept through the rest and it had me questioning if I should've just lead with him all along. Drake was up next and without my fairy type Mawile, things were looking bleak. Especially because I have two dragon types with me. Things were not looking good. His pokemon dealt tons of damage and felt like they could take just as much. We were trading one for one which is not ideal in my situation. I was down to his ace, Salamence and I only had a very weak Absol and Blaziken in my back pocket. Blaziken's two types were terrible matchups here. Both being not very effective against Salamence. But regardless we threw the Blaze Kicks his way and he in turn attacked us. The way things were trading we were going to lose. But Mega manages to land a critical which finishes the Salamence off. I couldn't have been more proud.

Heading to Steven, I only had 2 Pokemon left. Looking back I think it is totally valid to heal here but I couldn't decide so I pressed on as is. Hoping that Absol and Blaziken would be enough. His Skarmory led off and boy was it bulky. Absol wasn't doing anything so I had to switch to Blaziken. Blaziken took it out but Aggron was next with its sturdy ability which prevented the one hit ko. So he dealt us an earthquake which pretty much did us in. Absol was pretty much useless against these tough Pokemon and we were beat.

I decided to reset and do the run again with the same team. Looking back I made super silly mistakes so I hoped to rectify it this time around. Second time it was a breeze against the first three. Blaziken pretty much cleaned out Glacia so I didn't lose Mawile like I did the first time. So Drake was much easier this time. Mawile vs his opener, Alteria allowed me to set up 3 Swords Dances. Absolutely mad. Mawile took care of the rest of the team with my only losing Sharpedo, for pretty much no reason. I was back at Steven Stone and was sure that victory was mine this time around. Skarmory start again and my first Blaze Kick misses. Skarmory goes with ariel ace which takes half of Mega's hp. Hoping that I could one hit ko it I attack again but it survives with a decent bit and finishes Blaziken off. My ace was gone off the bat... I knew this was not looking good but we can't give up. I send out Flygon to use rock throw but again so little damage. I switch to Salamence totally forgetting I gave it Flamethrower. He easily burned down Skarmory and we could finally press on. Moving through the rest of the team was tough but we finally reached his ace, Metagross. I had a weakened Flygon, Absol, and Mawile in my reserve. Flygon goes out to a Giga Impact without getting to do much. Absol was in next. I mistakenly used Sucker Punch in fear of Metagross being faster, but I failed to realize Giga Impact has a resting period. So my attack was basically nullified that turn. Sucker Punch lands the second time but Absol is one hit ko'd by Metagross. Mawile has no effective stab moves against Metagross. Mega Mawile vs Mega Metagross. Mawhile swung but Metagross was just too strong. We had lost again. I reset again believing that my current team can win. But we'll have to try again another day. Steven is truly a worthy opponent.

Our druid shape-changed into a water elemental so she can go get the object while the rest of us are waiting prepared for a fight. I do not want to do a fight in the middle of a lake where if I drop in I might get the feeble mind effect, but I can fly so I'll probably be fine for the most part.

We managed to get back to the river part and there was a force that was trying to control our ship that our cleric was using control water against, it is no longer trying to control us.

Oh there are more pendants in that same spot. We're sending the druid back as a water elemental since the other one there didn't seem to mind while the rest of us wait in the river lol we do not want our boat capsizing.

Rogue and cleric are shaking our heads heavily at the druid when she asks 'can I talk to it?' and is told 'yeah you speak the same language now'.

Druid: Thanks for passage through the lake!

My sneak attack also maxed out so considering that plus my weapon, if I hit it with a sneak attack, I roll 11d6 and a d8 +6 for my sword, and then 2d6 +3.

We're about to follow the river to find that item to prevent Asmodeus from detecting us in his realm! And we're encountering a flock of imps right away. Yay. What do they want?

From imp 2: From Mephistopheles (the lord of the level we're on right now), a discounted rate to the druid for punishment therapy???? For an enemy being punished in the hells? Titivilus? OH FUCK IT'S HER ENEMY THAT SHE'S HERE BECAUSE OF. Apparently 100 gold will get him bound by her side and unable to do fuck all without her permission or something?

From imp 3: Levistus wants to send me a message directly through the imp touching my face? Thinkin' on it.

From imp 4: FROM ZARIEL???????? For our cleric? Also a communication? Why are we all getting communications. Also, Zariel isn't his sugar mommy?

Steven Stone

Another top objective I have for going back in time to update the advanced series is... giving a much bigger role to the Hoenn Champion himself: Steven Stone. As a recap; in the original version of the advanced series, Steven’s first and only appearance was in AG 022 - “A Hole Lotta Trouble”... and in the original Groudon VS Kyogre situation, his role and spot were replaced by the Johto Champion; Lance.

However, I do plan on fixing that; to where... Steven Stone’s role in the advanced series is MUCH bigger. As for the roles details for Steven and his Pokémon, here they are...

1. The Aron that was with Steven in “A Hole Lotta Trouble” would be fully evolved into Aggron by the time the new Groudon VS Kyogre situation occurs.

2. Speaking of Groudon VS Kyogre, Steven’s role in it would be very similar to that in the manga; Pokémon Adventures: Ruby and Sapphire... where Steven, along with Sydney, Phoebe, Glacia, and Drake spread out throughout the Hoenn Region to find the Regis; Regirock, Regice, and Registeel... and release the three so the Regis can contain the brawl between Groudon and Kyogre in Sootopolis City (in order to prevent it from spreading throughout the rest of Hoenn). 

3. Sometime after the Groudon VS Kyogre crisis, Ash goes against Steven Stone after beating the Hoenn elite four during the Hoenn League. After a long and tense battle, Ash eventually beats Steven.

4. As a little treat, Steven Stone would appear from time to time in the Diamond and Pearl anime, and even develop a romantic relationship with the Sinnoh Champion: Cynthia.

In other words, Steven Stone’s Pokémon team will be similar to that in the gameboy advance games; Pokémon Ruby version, Pokémon Sapphire version, and Pokémon Emerald version.

And in case you’re wondering what I meant by “romantic relationship with Cynthia”, it’s because I ship Steven with Cynthia. And if ya think about it long enough, you’ll understand that Steven and Cynthia make a wonderful couple, as both are champions, have tough Pokémon (Metagross for Steven and Garchomp for Cynthia), and are just amazing. So yeah, Steven and Cynthia are perfect for each other ^^

And so, that’s what I have in mind for Steven Stone in the new advanced series. I definitely hope y’all enjoy reading this and thinking about all this. And stay tuned for more posts going over other ideas and objectives for going back in time to update the advanced series. 😉👍

Let me enjoy this fleeting moment to be happy over the Champion Stadium that I’ve always been waiting for, and jamming over the extremely sick music, before I cry and weep over the Master Mode next week.

In this post I took notes of things that I noticed through the fight. I used this warm-up session of Hoenn CS to understand the mechanics and gimmicks of each stages. Which is why I stalled some of the fights to post sync, and by some I meant Sidney and Glacia’s stages...the rest of the fight were over too quickly I regretted it.

Sidney set up Go Viral 9 Thunder Wave before he sync, and he had Furious Brain. Similar to Grimsley’s stage...I think Bug-weak Grimsley also had paralysis too. Taking him down before he did that is required unless I have something to counter his Paralysis, like dodging it with Fly, or Status Immunity passives. Which makes the already tight time to finish the fight even tighter. Also maybe my Diantha is not a great choice here. All that said, I LOVE SIDNEY SOOO MUCH!! Not only he hard-carried my team through Dark-weak stages, his Japanese and English VA are amazing (bravo ProZD), he went to 5/5 way before I even got a second copy of Masked Royal, his nuke is very easy to set up and very strong, and his theme is so damn cool, my favorite among the four! Sidney certainly stood out to me more after Pokemas, knowing that he’s actually a very chill guy despite his appearance made you think otherwise...is amazing. Love this dude. And even though he probably won’t get a chance to shine (because Dark-weak Phoebe has Sentry Entry x2), I still have the utmost pleasure in battling him...so far, anyway.

Glacia set up Hail before she sync, and Hail activates a myriad of defensive, healing, and possibly offensive (?) passives. Getting rid of her hail as soon as possible is mandatory to end the match quickly. I also noted through Absol’s notes that she had Master Healer 2 for her Draining Kiss, but she hadn’t used that through the match...probably post-sync after she used her Trainer Move? Either way, she needed to be taken down fast before she recovers too much HP for the team to catch up. I think the usual SS Morty/Anni N/SS Red might work here, because the team has so much offensive pressure. Well, let’s see how the real fight goes when that time comes...

Drake set Rain upon entry, activating a whole host of offensive passives related to Rain, including Raging Rain 5. Also he has Acute Senses 4, status change is mandatory to get through the fight.. So, I think this stage is made with SS Ethan in mind, or SS Serena. Which are Master Fairs. God damn it. That said, Zinnia and Rayquaza might also be able to defeat him since she took advantage of any weather condition, but she needs someone to apply status changes--preferably trap, according to the tips. I used BP Zinnia here because she is miles easier to use, but I think Zinnia and Rayquaza is much better because I have SC Lillie to take hits. I don’t think Hilbert can take much offensive pressure boosted with rain passives. Seems like Drake and his companions also prefer using special moves? Hard to say, he was spamming special moves but I took him down two turns before he sync...I regretted it, really.

Phoebe buffs both defenses upon entry, and she also will buff her Attack before sync with her Trainer Move. Because of the parameter I’ve chosen, Phoebe was spamming special moves, though she also did physical occasionally. Because I have Halloween Caitlin with Adrenaline 1, the fight is guaranteed to end pre-sync, especially with Masked Royal’s help to constantly debuff attack and defenses, for Halloween Morty’s nuke. I think Halloween Morty is still the right choice for this stage. Which is great, Phoebe and Morty are fellow ghost type specialists who have abilities to see things that normal people can’t see, and Morty has something to say to Phoebe if you team him up with her, so they’re friends alongside Allister! I’m sure Morty is happy to have a match against or alongside Phoebe. Also, I think I can forego Ghost Zone for Masked Royal’s help to set up Morty’s nuke, though it depends on how consistent the debuffs are, and how Master Mode fight goes. When push comes to shove, I can always change his build to Burn-only nuke (which is more defensive because he has Sync Regen in this build) and use SSR Cynthia to help out with Ghost Zone and powerful Shadow Force.

Steven’s stage...uh, I honestly don’t know. I haven’t seen anything special from him other than spamming strong moves and buffs Accuracy by +2 upon entry, but maybe that’s because SS Serena quickly defeated him before he did anything crazy. However, according to Absol’s notes, Steven has Toughen Up 9 and Tighten Up 9, and he has Endure, possibly from his trainer move just like the real OG Steven. So from this information, he has a chance to likely stall out the match for far too long because he constantly buffs himself, and he has Endure to boot, which is kinda bad except for those lucky souls who have SS Giovanni and Maxie. If the combined offensive pressure isn’t enough, Steven might be able to last long enough to apply Endure and sync, which makes the fight harder, and he also spam strong moves like Iron Head and Hammer Arm, which is especially bad if the fight goes longer. And Ground is pretty scarce as a type too, so...needless to say, I’m not looking forward to face Steven in Master Mode.

Willy is an insanely good tamer when he wants to be, and I mean like, around Remus levels of good. He just doesn't give it his all, like, ever

Bryce had definitely known our parents were the one to do that machine, probably before we did. That was one rough talk afterwards

Remus remained probably second in command if not very high up. But when he somehow learnt of Solus(honestly? With Titan's track record (he did it once) of putting him in nightmares, it may have been Deena) he somehow managed to come out of the netherworld to wish us good luck. What a guy

Before it came around to a dog, Ron's shop was actually belonging to Matthew for a bit. Not from Ron, but his daughter was much more into gems, and she wasn't particularly interested, so she let Matthew do everything else(She was also the one who introduced gem/shard selling in stores)

As I said before, Khan and Hilda do different kinds of magic (Primordial vs Arcane) so it's the reason Khan was never snipped by an abyssal

I like to believe everyone liked Hendrick, even the ones against the Nexolord. He seems like a genuinely charismatic guy and Blue may have had to shorten his sentence a bit otherwise there would've been, an uproar

They were in a strange world, (it's the distortion world), Sectin picked up Tonic "Come on."

chara instantly is thrown to the ground with the gravity change. looking around made her dizzy. she does her best to get to her feet shakily. tonic curled up contently.

there are waterfalls going every which way and bubbles that have landscapes in them float around. she looks over to everyone by the now gone portal. "explain."

"We've seen Killer play her stupid game before. She gains someones trust, becomes their 'friend' and then kills them also." Eunice started to explain before slapping chara across the face. "That's for being a f*cking idiot!"

"it's whatever." she shrugs looking down. she quietly listens to the sounds of the distortion world, howling, sound of rock platforms cracking and moving, and so on. she looks at her soul which seems to be stable for now.

she looks over. "huh," she takes it susspisiously. "where'd you get it?"

".... seems like a bad trade on his side." she shrugs it off and drinks it anyway.

'Well, his world didn't have dusk stones.' Olympia explained. 'I do apologize for our sudden intervene of your fight, we were worried.'

she caps the vile and sets it down "i don't forgive you but i'll forget about it." with one last kick in the water she turns back around. "I thought i made it pretty clear that my goals conflict with your morals. why are you here? if you're going to help me even more than you already have isn't that kinda against the point?"

'Well, you're not incorrect, though, I assume our reasoning is that we see you as a little sibling?' Olympia answered. 'We just want you to be happy'

chara's taken aback by this. bringing back bad memories of her own little brother. she shakes her head. "a horrible decision really. but you're very sweet."

"you've got tonic though? you could baby that thing instead of me. sense you seem so lonely and all." she hops back to the main platform.

Sectin was chatting with Tonic. "You know.. I haven't triped a lot of forms, wanna try some with me?"

tonic's face lights up and she happily nods.

"whatever you say." chara disregards the conversation.

(it's the red thing) Sectin thinks for a moment, "well, there were those spike things on Sakarr..." She then turns into a swarm of small brown creatures, the main carapiece was domed and had spikes on it.

tonic watches with a grin. "impressive" she goes up to inspect it better. "what is it made of?"

Sectin scurried up Tonic's arm.

tonic giggled as it tickled her going up her arm she gets a better look at it but still not quite sure what it is.

tonic looks over to chara. she looks like she's about to ask her if she's ever seen one of those or if she'd be willing to be dug into by a spike ball, but with the glare she instantly received she shuts her mouth and looks away

Sectin saw Tonic look away, and looked at Chara just in time to see the glare. "Oh...I wonder why she doesn't like you..."

"i'm unsure why as well," she looks up at sectin "have i done something wrong? or perhaps annoying?"

tonic looks down prepossessing what she said. "i suppose that could be the case." "should i try talking to her?"

tonic thought for a second before nodding and going up to chara. chara folded her arms. tonic stoped infront of her "chara I am sorry I couldn't help you when you called. shatter asked me not to." chara shakes her head. "it just proves to me you're as useless to me as i thought you'd be." tonic blinks. " you wish for me to assist you in getting stronger?" chara laughs. "like you'd know how to. not to mention shatter hanging over your shoulder like a dead bird."

Sectin snuck up behind Eunice and screeching, resulting with her having to flee from a flamethrower.

"shatter wants what's best for you, and you need this as far as i can tell. in fact your mental state has only gone down through the time after you've bent yourself on getting stronger. i expect shatter will not mind." chara rolls her eyes and walks away from the little skeleton and goes over to the two kits. tonic looks disappointingly away from them. "hey kids. like the look of this new world?" she small talks to get tonic away from her.

Shine shook her head quickly, hiding behind her brother who seemed more curious than scared. "It feels weird." He replied.

"Get back here you stupid bug!!" Eunice yelled going after Sectin

tonic watches eunice and sectin run around while chara tries to block them out. with a shrug she replies "a bit i suppose hm? I feel like this is the perfect place for some training. you two as far as genetics go, might have some cool spacial powers similar to your mom." she rubs her hands together. "wanna check that out?"

The boy nodded happily, the girl on the other hand wasn't to fond of the idea. Sectin turned into a yanmega and flew to a different spot, snickering softly.

"sweet~ shine you can sit there and be boring if you want to. "she grabs shade's hand and take in to an area that has a little bit more room. "so i don't know either of you guy's powers. what do you know how to do?" tonic hops up to eunice.

Eunice's hair was a blazing fire a sign she was mad. Shade thought for a moment before opening his mouth showing sharp teeth. "I can bite."

chara looks at his mouth. "i would say that's not a very good power but you look strong enough to hang on if it came to that. no magic powers that you know of yet?"

He thought for a moment before black covered his arm and formed a long blade. "Hows this?"

"yeah that's more what i was looking for." she goes up and grabs his arm to see how strong it was. for the black covering armor she wonders if shade was infected along with his mom. for some reason she assumed he wouldn't have been.

The sharp part of the blade cut into her palm.

"so is that armor? can you cover your body in it?" she covers her hand in a bit of magic.

He tries to focus, before shaking his head. "No just my arm."

"huh," (which arm can he cover?) "how about trying to focus on your fangs can you strengthen them? "

(his right, he's right handed) He nodded, closing his eyes to try and focus, after a few moment's he opened his mouth to show his fangs were excreting venom.

"oooo sick" she puts a finger to her chin for a second. " i bet tonic would be able to use that well. I'm going to get your sister, she's just sitting over there anyway." chara goes up to shine and takes her wrist dragging her back to shade. "come on, you have to practice or you'll end up dead, you don't want that right?"

The two shook their heads, but didn't seem to understand they were supposed to fight each other.

"good, glad we agree. now just fight eachother for a bit, if you get around to really hurting eachother im here to stop it so is shatter, so have at it." she sits crosslegged on a rock.

They look at each other, "But I don't wanna fight Shine." Shade said

"you'll be fine, promise, just practice got it?"

Shine nodded, backing up slightly as she got her claws out. Shade looked at Shine, he still didn't want to fight her

"nice shine~ love the claws." she admires and then looks over at shade expectantly.

Shine shot towards Shade, who used his blade-arm like a shield.

"just blocking isn't going to get you anywhere shade."

Shade pushed Shine back, Shine tried to hiss, but ended up sneezing

chara snickers at shine.

Shade snickers too. Shine then sticks her tongue out at Shade, who still wouldn't fight his sibling

"shade, how can i get you to do this simple thing hon, no one's gonna get hurt. if you really can't fight your sister then you'll have to fight me or shatter. it'll be much more simple if you work together seeing as you should be around the same level."

chara rolls her eyes and goes up to the two of them pushing shine to the side gently. "not good enough. people have to do what they don't want to all the time. do it or there will be consequences."

Shine's face went from playfully to worried. Shade looked at his sister, "I don't want to fight Shine." He hissed softly

chara looks back at shine. "can you tell your brother to fight you please?"

"B-but he doesn't want to..." Shine mumbled shyly

chara shakes her head dismissively and turns abruptly slashing through shade's neck forcing him back to his stone. she picks it up and hands it to shine. "try to convince him when he wakes up." she starts to walk away from shine not really caring.

Shine's eyes watered up, as she started crying

tonic was not having that. as soon as she heard shade poof she headed over to shine. chara simply went back to olympia siting down lazily. tonic goes up to shine to try to comfort her.

Shine hugged Tonic clutching onto Shade's soulstone. Olympia glanced at Chara, "That's a way to make an enemy, not an ally."

she shrugs "there's more than one way to make an ally. if they want to be difficult than i'll have to be as well. if i let them walk all over me my whole plan will go down the drain either way."

"you tell me why, you're the psychic. why is it?" she lays against the rocky ground.

"well, the two are twins they care so much about each other, Shine saw it as a game, while Shade saw it as a true fight." Olympia explained, "He has more experience than Shine, so he knows that in a fight, one always gets hurt."

"so i gathered," she folds her arms. "how do i change his mind about it than? seems he holds a lot of power over his sister emotionally. perhaps normalizing death would help. " she shrugs. "i knew this wouldn't be easy but frankly seeing how different everyone is it may not even be possible." tonic snuggles against shine and says quietly. "i may be able to help him heal faster."

"Well, if he assumes that someone is going to harm his sister, he would have more motivation. And if you continuously make him retreat to his soulstone, he wouldn't fight for his life." Olympia explained. "R-really?"Shine asked, purple tears running down her cheeks

"i don't want to scar shine, she's much more cooperative. i did have that though but i think it'll just make them both mad at me. as far as shade goes, as long as he knows i can take him and i have power over him he'll learn to respect me and not try to rebel anymore. i simply am trying to break him a bit." tonic nods and wipes away shine's tear with the tip of her tail, with that her liquid turns purple as well.

Shine looked fascinated by the color change, She handed Tonic Shade's soulstone. "But how are you going to know when is a 'bit'?" Olympia added

"hmmm... touché. i'll just have to guess i suppose." tonic takes the stone and coats it with a bit of the liquid that came out of her claws and puts it on the ground. and with that shade's stone starts to glow.

Shade reformed, and looked at Chara, growling softly. Shine immediately hugged her brother tightly.

chara hears shade and looks over instantly angry that tonic healed him when she was trying to make a point. "are you f***ing kidding me." she mutters to Olympia. tonic tilts her head looking at shade seeing if there's anything wrong.

chara storms over to them. "tonic." she shoves her away from them tonic falling having no balance toppled over and looks up at chara.. "you are not aloud to mess with the kids without permission. understood?" tonic tilts their head and nods slowly.

Shine seemed concerned at this and Shade growled.

"so shade." she turns to him. "are you willing to try now or do you need a break." she folds her arms

Shade turned his arm into the blade.

"than tell me a good reason why you won't and maybe i'll let it slide." tonic takes a few steps away.

"ridiculous. well kid, you need to get stronger somehow and if you can figure out a way to do that effectivly by tomorrow than i'll drop it and won't make you fight her. but if you don't then we do it my way. sound good?"

Sectin buzzed over. "What if he fights Toxin? she has the same arm thingie." Sectin said

she looks over "hey, if it works it works" she shrugs. "just has to be effective."

Sectin flew over to a chick with messy purple hair, a crop top and shorts. She chatted at her.

she watches them for a second before turning to shine. "you're going to practice with me alright?"

"o-ok..." Shine whispered.

Sectin grabbed the chick's arms and flew back to the group.

"hey toxin, nice to meet you. go easy on him hm?" she takes shine's arm and walks a few paces away.

Toxin blew a bubble and popped it as she chewed on her gum. Her hand balled into a fist as her bones turned to daggers, making a blade like Shade's. "Whatever." Shine seemed nervous about having to fight Chara

chara notices her unwillingness. "it's alright, we're not going to spar yet, how about you tell me about any powers you know you have?"

"I-I don't have any I know of." Shine muttered

this makes chara laugh. "alright~ if you say so. minus your claws obviously," she goes up to her. "you left or right handed?"

"L-left, I think." Shine answered, looking at Shade and Toxin as Shade's blade arm cut through some of Toxin's spines.

chara takes her left hand and runs a finger around her palm. with a spell chara cast a couple of colors show on shine's palm. the colors that show are magic types that shine's inclined to use and the other colors that aren't on her palm are hard for her.

Shine saw the magic and freaked out for a moment shaking her hand like there was a spider on it.

chara looks a little confused. " what? did it hurt?"

"It's glowing!" She replied showing her now bright purple hands.

she chuckles "sure is, that's the point. so purple huh? that goes well with my magic, i should be able to teach you some things. so purple pink and red are able to make psychical things. how about you try to use all that magic on your hands and try to pack it like a snowball."

"uhhhhh, okay never mind, just put your hands together and try to combine the magic haha" she shrugs

Shine nodded and tried, a purple star formed

Shine nodded and threw it, it exploded like a supernova

Chara puts her hands over her mouth exitedly. "Oooo very cool. Oh man, now I want to see you and shade fight even more"

"I-I don't think that would be good." Shine muttered "Don't raise your arm like that when you strike you open yourself to an attack." Toxin advised

She sighs "why not? You were fine with it before"

"that's the point hon. Okay fine" she puts up a save star and looks back at her. "Use it on me than"

Shine nodded, concentrating as she formed another one, she threw it at Chara

she threw a small pebble of red magic at it, expecting it to explode it on impact. if it doesn't and it goes straight for her than she'll know that shine will be able to do some kind of homing missile.

It exploded on impact, making an effect similar to a collapse of a sun

she felt a little bit of a shock wave from it. "dangggg kid i love it. it's so pretty and strong!" she gives shine a quick hug and then turns to look at the other two.

Shine's eyes sparkled at the hug. Shade's blade chipped at Toxin's spines, Toxin then kicked him in the stomach

Shade shot forward, blocking Toxin's spines and then slashing, cutting Toxin's shirt

chara thinks for a moment and gets the idea of having the twins work together. the only problem with that is if she uses their soul stones she'll be out numbered 2 to 1.

she walks a little bit away and looks at some of the bubbles with landscapes in them, she's wanting to find a real target so the kits will have a real fight.

Toxin kicked Shade away, one of the bubbles showed a giant flying creature, with 4 wings

"eh, i don't see why not." she goes up behind shade and grabs the arm that's not covered. "it's field trip time" she starts to drag him over to it. "shine you too, also you're going to work together on this one, but don't get comfortable with that. this is a luxury k? k." she looks back at toxin. "thanks by the way"

Limited CS clears. I opted to try to beat each stage with a type matching their ace. I uh. I somehow managed to neglect that there were two Ice types in this, and that is...that's not happening. So the Red fight is Flying instead. It matches the secondary type, I'm counting it.

Vs. Koga Poison Man vs. Toxic Ladies. I went with this fight first because I'm a moron. They didn't need higher status chance because Oleana is guaranteed, nor high Toxic damage because Emma is going to massacre them. Which is exactly what happened, by the way. 10k+ per shot off-type. Just no threat to her at all.

Vs. Glacia And now the exact opposite, the hardest fight I had. Ice on Ice violence could probably work on any who isn't Glacia. She also abuses Hail like crazy, and with Ice Zone, Blizzard is a guaranteed KO on any partner Irida could have. After much trial and tribulation, we settled on a solution. Ghetsis' Cold Snap. It's a bit risky, but if he lands it, it's a separate effect from the move, so he can re-queue and we can keep up pressure. So long as Icy Wind doesn't hit us, gauges are...well, still bad, but can be managed. And manage we did, after many attempts, as Irida threw down sync, and still didn't KO, but Ghetsis did get a clutch freeze against Hail and we were able to finish the job. This...was not our best work.

Vs. Molayne When I looked at my Steel-type options, I realized that Steel support is a rough time. They do not have many good options, so for High Score purposes, that's what DeNA should aim to release. My decision was between Registeel and Rose, or SC Jasmine and Summer Tate. There has never been an easier decision. Fun fact! Did you know that Tate's Flash Cannon into Doom Desire combo can one-shot sides after SC Jasmine's sync? Not even with Zone! And with like -2 attack, his sync was still like 30k. Summer twins were stupid good. That said, SC Jasmine is a bit of a weakness in the structure, due to Molayne being physical. Jasmine does not take Hammer Arm well, so Marnie needs to be on top of her flinch game. Marnie was not on top of her flinch game. This was the second highest number of resets to success due to her missing flinches early on and Jasmine getting dead. Pretty embarrassing!

Vs. Grimsley Idiot decided to be Dark type. Get SC Zinnia'd, moron. SC is so good it's disgusting. Legitimately think she's better than NC Marnie, that's not even a joke. Higher disruptive effects, no gauge considerations in 3v3, absolutely batshit sync with respectable DPS, complements Calem so well that in one turn they've capped the entire team's Atk/crit, etc etc etc. I love that it's Thievul who gets to do this. Justice.

Vs. NC Red I want to preface this with "I did make an honest attempt at Ice." I tried out Ghetsis/SS N, but it was not working. If I had SS N to 3/5 and EX, maybe it would, but I'm not about to invest that strongly into nonsense. Instead, we had to pivot to Flying, because Ice is just...it's bad out here, man. Once Irida's gone, when you're like me and refusing to pull Red, it's bad.

Thankfully, Articuno is also part-Flying and we're calling that. I did attempt Ghost against Glacia but my team uses NY Dawn as a tank and guess who's weak to Ice. This had to be the non-Ice clear. And despite the Hostile Environment 9 thing, I never saw Red even try to queue an Ice move. He always went for Brave Bird against Falkner, despite Falkner being weak to Ice. So I'm calling this legitimate. He's clearly maining Flying here. And...yeah, two tries. I got Anni Skyla to 3/5 on the paid select, and good lord what I have been missing all my life. 50% AoE flinch rate and Disarm is disgusting. On the lost fight, I need it to be understood that I only got Red to -2 special attack, and Liza still almost survived it, and would've won with another attack. Disarm, if I had gotten confuse earlier (or more flinches), would've salvaged that run. It's really strong as a supportive effect. Meanwhile Liza over here has absurd sync potential and DPS. She missed every sync crit on this clear and still just powered through with raw Giga Impact energy. Summer Twins, friends. Hilariously over-looked threats.

“Fixing” the Elite Four teams in ORAS (plus Wally)

Unlike the Gym leaders, I have a feeling I won’t be needing to change much since their parties are mostly ideal in the rematches, buuuuut…

Anyway, let’s start with Wally, because I love him.

I think first of all, Wally should have a full party of six rather than just five to make him feel like the last challenge before the Elite Four, and thankfully ORAS did introduce a party member to balance out his team but it’s sadly only seen in the stupid Battle Maison, and that’s Azumarill.

The rest of the party members-- Altaria, Delcatty, Magneton, and Roselia-- can all stay.

The Gallade needs to leave since it horribly clashes and honest to god, I think GameFreak suddenly just has a thing against male Gardevoir, like they didn’t want Wally to have such a “feminine”-looking Pokémon so they gave him Gallade. (mind you I like Gallade more than Gardevoir) 

Just let him have a Mega Gardevoir and be done with it, he’s a good boy, I love him.

In my opinion, when it comes to the Hoenn Elite Four, Sidney always had the most “balanced” team, especially in Emerald, so we’re mostly going to use that for our basis.

We have Mightyena, Shifty, Cacturne, and Crawduant (sorry Sharpedo). His signature Pokémon is Absol, which of course, will have the Absolite (as opposed to having it in rematches only).

He’s pretty good, I always liked his team. The rest of the Hoenn Elite Four though… not great.

Had to make a really tough decision with this one, because this is where the Elite Four members start to have “dupes”.

The extra Banette and Dusclops should honestly be replaced by Misdreavus and Chimecho. The former because it’s a ghost type that is actually available in ORAS, and the latter, while a Psychic-type, is available in Mt. Pyre. Didn’t Phoebe say she trained there? I think it would be an okay addition until she gets access to more ghosts.

Finally, even though Mega Banette is cool, I would rather see her with a Mega Sableye. Maybe it could be interchangeable in a rematch with her.

I’ll be honest, I never liked Glacia. She was basically a worse Lorelei with too many dupes in her party. In ORAS someone thought it was a good idea to replace the dupes in her party with Froslass… two of them.

Yeah, let’s fix that. The first Glalie should be replaced with a Delibird. It may not be a great Pokémon, but it’s full of surprises (hah) and is available to catch in ORAS. Similarly, maybe a Dewgong to replace one of her Sealeo.

That just leaves her with one Sealeo, Walrein, and a Glalie that’s obviously going to Mega Evolve.

Unlike Glacia, I actually think Drake is a better Lance.

Not much I would really change here other than replacing his extra Flygon with a beefy Shelgon and letting him Mega Evolve Salamence much sooner. An alternative, hellish scenario is giving him a Sceptile instead of Sheldon that has Sceptilite to become Grass/Dragon.

Steven’s initial party is a classic and honestly doesn’t need to be changed.

However, his rematch party is an insult that needs to be fixed. Claydol is leaving in favor of Mawile (which didn’t get enough attention as is), to mess people up with its Steel/Fairy typing.

Carbink and Aerodactyl should honestly just be thrown out the window in favor of Probopass (an evolution of a Gen 3 Pokémon that should be obtainable post-game) and Bastiodon (a Rock/Steel Pokémon that used to be a fossil).

My boy deserved so much better in that rematch, he’s my favorite Champion for Christ’s sake. Wallace got a better rematch party than he did, goddamn.

Anyway, those are just my minor/balance alterations to make ORAS Gym leaders and E4 more memorable. It was mainly something I wanted to do for fun in my head.
