Spirt medium, can communicate with dead human and monster souls who still roam the living world due to unfinished business. She helps these spirits complete their final task so they can peacefully move onto the afterlife.

Lives on the surface in a post-pacifist Aftertale timeline with Geno and Goth.

Has a strange obsession with hunting down paranormal activates (believes those phenomenons are caused by dead souls).

Learning different languages in order to better communicate with spirits (fluent in English and Japanese, currently studying Spanish).

Wants to one day travel and help spirits from other AUs.

Naruto Characters Accidentally Calling their Girlfriend their Wife

MR KRABSSSS I HAVE AN IDEAAA

Fem reader (or if you want to be called wife)

Characters: Naruto, Sasuke, Shino, Kiba, Shikamaru, Choji, Neji, Rock Lee, Kankuro, and Gaara.

Naruto Uzumaki

He’s talking to some new people and enthusiastically pulls you to his side, a large smile on his face, and he says “This is my wife! Y/N!”

You can’t hide your shock, not fully at least. He’s never called you his wife before. I mean, he’s said things like “you’ll be my future wife, right?” As he giggles or something.

But you are in a state of shock that he introduced you that way.

Nonetheless, you’re happy.

If the person makes a comment about how young or cute you two are for a married couple, he’d realize. Likely, he’d respond a little oddly, stuttering, but recovers and just full sends with the claim you’re his wife.

Sasuke Uchiha

If he’s with you, you’re gonna be his wife anyways. He didn’t get with you until he was sure of that, because it took him a long time to realize he felt that way anyways.

So he calls you his wife with full confidence, before realizing his mistake. However, he doesn’t care too much to correct himself or anything.

Because you are gonna marry him right? (He’s actually really nervous to propose, but he won’t admit that.)

People would probably just believe him immediately considering just how serious he is about you to even be with you.

When you confront him about it later, he’ll ask you if that was okay, explain it was a mistake, but he’ll probably comment on how he’s dating to marry anyways so… you might as well be his wife.

You can probably expect a proposal soon.

Shino Aburame

I can’t fully see this happening tbh. However, let’s say that it does.

He’d probably over explain himself to the person he referred of you as his wife too.

Not that he doesn’t want you as his wife, but you haven’t said you’ll be his wife yet. So he can’t call you his wife. That’s how he sees it.

He’ll probably think he messed up and upset you, so you’ll have to explain it was cute.

Once you explain to him, he’ll see your point. Maybe with some reluctance to lighten up on himself.

He’ll be happy you want to be seen as his wife though.

Kiba Inuzuka

Realized his mistake, but he could not be bothered.

He will keep on as if there is no mistake. As if you are legally married.

He’ll be upset if you correct him in front of people.

It’ll turn into a bit of an argument if you correct him in any way other than sweetly.

Because what the big deal???

If you leave it alone, and talk to him later, now he’s nervous and stuttering. But he’ll likely comment on how he knows you want to marry him so you might as well be called his wife.

Shikamaru Nara

Immediately realizing what slipped out his mouth.

Does he really want you to be his wife? Well, of course he does. But that’s a lot for him to accidentally spill out to some strangers you’re both meeting.

They don’t know he made a mistake, because you roll with it.

Later, he’ll try to avoid talking about it, but if you bring it up, he’ll say it was a mistake, don’t take it so seriously.

If you seem down about his underwhelming response, he’ll likely have an actual talk about his future with you to reassure you that he was just being an idiot when he said that.

Choji Akimichi

He forgot you’re not his wife.

I think Choji would just love you so much that he would simply treat you like a wife. To the point he forgets, you’re not his wife.

If you comment on it, he’ll think about it and probably be like ohhhh right.

He’ll apologize, but more than likely you’ll just say it was cute.

I can see him calling you wifey.

But if he’s gonna call you that, he’s gotta get you that ring. He’s planning on it as yall speak.

Neji Hyuga

You two are waiting a while before calling it official. Plans of marriage are far off.

He’s a little too traditional to jump at marriage quickly.

So when he accidentally calls you his wife, it was to Hiashi. He went pale. Paler than usual.

Later, depending on how exactly that went, he’ll probably be in his head.

Let’s assume for this though, that Hiashi approves of you completely.

Hiashi made a comment, rather he meant it badly or not, Neji will take it the wrong way. Realize he jumped too far.

You’ll have to tell him you find it cute, and rather his uncle approves of you two or not, you’ll be his wife someday :)

Rock Lee

It COULD be an honest mistake.

But let’s be honest,

It’s Lee.

He calls you his wife to your face, to other people, hell, he’d shout it from the roof tops.

So it’s not an accident. He meant it. He will one day make you his wife, so why would he not call you his wife now!

If you have any reserves about being called his wife before actual marriage, he will pout and be upset. He won’t understand.

But, once that’s over, he’s crying and begging for forgiveness.

Please tell him it’s cute that he wants to marry you, even if you do want to have a talk with him about not assuming roles you don’t officially have.

Gaara

HE CALLED YOU HIS WIFE IN FRONT OF A CROWD. so now he’s blushing.

He might correct his mistake, might not. Depends.

He’s a confident speaker, but that threw him off a little bit.

Likely you were a strong shinobi or something and he was trying to give you credit where it’s due, but it didn’t go as planned.

When you too are alone later, you’ll bring it up likely.

If you tell him you thought it was cute or sweet, he’ll turn bright red like his hair.

He likely won’t go on calling you his wife or anything. Maybe in private.

But he’s not ashamed of it. After all, he’s strongly considering marriage.

Kankuro

Called you his wife to his siblings while you were over for dinner.

Temari is not letting him live it down.

“Hey, I think your wife is trying to get your attention.” “I don’t know, maybe ask your wife?” “What about your wife?” From then on out.

He’s frustrated because it was a mistake, BUTTTT honestly, eventually he’ll make some snarky comment about how at least he’s closer to marriage than she is. Then he probably harps on Shikamaru a little bit in defense for his own comment.

(He approves of Shikamaru tho, if he’s being real. He just thinks it’s a little funny)

As long as this is before a certain point.

He decides to call you his wife to your face.

He sleeps like a ANIMAL. he full on can’t sleep normally, You both go to bed the same time, one of you is always gunna wake up on the floor, mostly you. Then he wakes up like “why you on the floor?”

He may seem cool but he gets very flustered. He doesn’t cover his face though he just closes his eyes so he doesn’t get more flustered and so he can ignore the fact that he is red

He CANT Dance, don’t EVER take him dancing. It’s not because he’s bad at dancing he just never learn. If there is music he will bop his head to the beat though, if you try to get him to dance he will freak out and freeze. He just doesn’t like it ok!

His waist is weirdly sensitive, you could barely touch his waist and he will start giggling. He isn’t ticklish anywhere else but if you take a feather to his waist he will start LAUGHING

He will kick your feet when he wants attention. If you guys are out to dinner with friends he will kick you under the table to get your attention, he thinks it’s funny until you fight back and stomp on his foot. He made you kiss his pain away at home, atleast he got attention LOL

He forgets the silliest things one time he forgot how to tie a knot so anything he needs to tie like his clothes or shoes you had to do for him. You don’t know if he actually forgot or if he just wanted to be babied-

He can’t handle heatwaves. If it’s over 90 degrees he’s gone for. One time you woke up on a heat wave morning waiting for him to wake up and walk out but he never did, you went to find him and he was in bed, sprawled out, shirt and covers off soaked in sweat. You had to rub ice on him to get him conscious -

Unlike naruto, he likes drawing and can ACTUALLY DRAW, although he can only draw plants but he doesn’t mind he likes plants! He will draw you flowers instead of buying you some which is like equally as cute~

He has very sensitive eyes. Like how he can’t handle heat he cant handle the sun either. If it isn’t cloudy he will have to squint to keep his eyes from hurting. When you told him to wear sun glasses he said “I still want to see you clearly though love…”

He’s not a big fan of skin care but he likes those face roller things. He bought one just so you could use it on him, he likes that it’s cold but also massaging!

He sneezes like a girl- he has the cutest, most petite sneeze you’ve ever heard out of a man which is cute and very funny. He doesn’t even realize it either “a-choo!” “That was crazy out of character” “huh?”

Kakashi🍃-*

He’s allergic to cats, he likes cats sure but he never hangs around them because he’s allergic. You didn’t know that and one day you brought a stray inside and he instantly turned puffy (poor thing)

Once he gets home and discards the mask he puts lip tint on. He has pink lips for that reason. When he first puts it on he will find you and kiss you just to leave a mark before waiting 10 minutes then whipping it off

He needs reading glasses but never uses them, then complains to you when he gets a headache as if you didn’t tell him to put them on

He takes a lot of baths. If he showers it bound to end up a bath. And he doesn’t care if your using the bathroom if he wants a bath he’s gunna make a god Danm bath. One time You were just washing your face and he busted in the door and ran to the bathtub, You washed your face as fast as you could-

He is EXTREMELY tired when he first wakes up, he doesn’t move for like 20 minutes so if he needs to get up and do stuff your gunna have to make him, like actually you’ll have the carry him out of bed.

Kiba🐺-*

He bites his nails from stress so you have made it a habit to smack his hand away when he does. It worked since all you have to do is tap him softly and he will stop. He’s so glad you help him get over bad habits

He decorated akamarus ears when he’s bored, one time you walk in on him giggling like a little girl and akamarus ears were pulled together in a little ponytail! You joined in on the fun🤞

He comes back from a casual walk along a complete mess, you have no idea how but one day he came back with half a bush stuck on his leg. He always cleans up though!

He sometimes transforms akamaru into himself to prank his friends or you, mostly you. One time akamaru came up to you as Kiba and started licking your face “EW OH MY GOD?!” “AUUFF AUF!” “KIBA YOUR NOT FUNNY”

He always has tan cheeks and nose. Compared to the rest of his face, his cheeks are cute and golden!

Shikamaru🀄️-*

He lets you win at intelligents based games to make you feel better. Except one time he actually tried and lost. He’s convinced you cheated

His hair is straight but gets very frizzy if not cared for. (You care for it since he’s lazyy)

He draws on himself when bored, mostly just trippy designs like swirls and stuff. Will also let you draw on him, only if your good tho he doesn’t want “bad drawing” on him😔

He has a box FULL of hair ties and will notice if you take one. “This one you literally stole from me?” “Don’t care put it back!!!”

He gets Freezingly cold at night, like really really cold. When he snuggles up to you to warm up you could feel how cold he really is and you don’t understand how since you are both under covers-

Shino🪲-*

He keeps bugs in the house so they can watch over anything, they are basically his security cameras-

His hair is so cute and wavy! Also gets very frizzy because of the texture like Shika. He also makes you take care of it, he just really likes you touching his hair

He gives you bugs as gifts, not like freaky beetles but cute little bugs like lady bugs or fuzzy green caterpillars. You find it cute that he gives you things that mean so much to him

He shockingly has a sensitive neck, only to you though. Bugs can crawl all over it and he doesn’t move but if you try to kiss it he gets chills. Also shockingly he has really soft skin idk maybe he sheds skin (IM JOKING)

When he gets home and can finally undress he lets you take his glasses off since you love his eyes and he loves that you love them. He gets insecure about it sometimes!

Neji🎋-*

He speak really highly and intelligently but he’s honestly a little dumb sometimes, or maybe he’s just dumb with you to be silly we don’t know

The only jewelry he really wears is an ankle bracelet you got him

He loves hair charms, he likes decorating his hair! He likes putting clips and braids in it, sometimes even put color streaks in it if he wants to be festive

He really likes pottery and making things out of clay, he’s very creative and he finds clay the perfect outlet. He even makes pots for you!

He has a flower garden that NO ONE is allowed in. He treats them like they’re his baby’s, because they are! He’s favorite plant he has is his cactuses.

Lee🥋-*

He’s extremely energetic and powerful yet he has asthma, he denies it. But if it’s really hot outside he runs out of breath REALLY fast which makes you worry

He’s scared of spiders you kill the spiders for him or he runs! If you trap a spider and chase him with it he will almost start crying (he will start crying) he’s ashamed to admit spiders are his weakness

He wears mascara, he gotta make them lashes voluminous yk. He stole his mascara from tenten too. You made him give it back to her and bought him his own

It’s pretty obvious but he is FLEXIBLE! Backbend, splits anything he can do. You thought he broke his spine onces-

He’s not much of a plant guy but he has the TINIEST succulent in your room that he cares for, every other plant he has had died but not that one~

Choji🍥-*

He loves finger painting and is actually really good at it, you’d think it was made by a professional and an actual paint brush but no it was Choji and his finger paint😭

His hair is so thick most hair ties he uses break. He has to use hair needles instead because it’s the only thing that holds if he wants his hair up for a while

He thinks pillow fights are actually entertaining he could have a pillow fight with you all day and never get bored. He goes crazy if he’s over at someone’s house and they suggest pillow fights!

He loves bath bombs!!! He basically died when you run him a bath and put bath bombs in it, his favorite scent it lavender. Even if you didn’t add a bath bomb he loves when you make him baths he thinks its adorable

He paints your cheeks like his in your sleep, that’s his idea of a prank even though it’s basically him just being a cutie “look now your like me y/n!!”

He turns the black rings around his eyes to cat eyes sometimes. He looks ADORABLE with cat eyes. He sometimes even uses eye shadow too, if he can’t change it he thought might as well make it look cutee

He’s scared of mosquitos, he just doesn’t like bugs that can fly and go after human blood it freaks him out

He wears one of those scent bracelets and puts your signature scent in it so he always smells like you~

Shockingly he really likes reading. He likes fiction books the most, he asks you for suggestions

He asks you what new make up design he should try, sometimes he just gives you the brush and lets you go wild. But you always make him look cute~

He fidgets with the ears on his hat when he’s bored. It rubbed off on you so now if he’s around you with his hat on you start messing with them-

He steals your clothes and hides them so you have no choice but to ask to use his for the day. After the day is over he comes up to you smiling and hands you your missing clothes “found em!” “By found em do you mean took them out of the hiding spot?” “Yeah-”

He paints his nails either black, pink or purple. He also lets you paint them, it honestly just ends up a mess. He would totally whip nail polishes on your nose~

-I find it both amusing and annoying that Kiba (and also Shikamaru and Choji) calls Naruto “kid”. Like y’all are the same age lmao

- yeah no same as Ino, Kiba kindaaaa should have won. I’m more okay with this outcome than the Ino-Sakura result because Naruto’s the MC so he’s obviously going to win, but that fart was utter bullshit

-also I get that Kiba probably would have wrecked the clones with his human drill shit but why didn’t Naruto just try spamming shadow clones from the beginning

-Team 8’s dynamic intrigues me. I want to see more of them

-why was ANYONE surprised that Hinata and Neji are related. Like were their eyes not a dead fucking giveaway???

-with his level of precision and the Byakugan, Neji should quit the whole ninja thing and go be a doctor

-I’ve heard that Gaara vs Lee is amazing, so I’m going in with high expectations

-Gaara is so fucking small next to his siblings

-the moment when the leg weights drop was amazing

Shinoten Fankid: Susu Aburame

As promised, here's the Shinoten fankid! Her name is Susu Aburame!

(I'm going to ramble a bit now)

The name Susu (簌簌 - pronounced as Soo-soo) has chinese origins and its literal definition is "a very slight sound" and often means "a quiet person" according to the research I made. I chose it because of its repeating character "簌" (sù) as it follows Tenten's repeating character of 天 (Tian). I also just found it cute! It has an "S" like Shino and his father Shibi do, and it would be cool if they kept following that trend of including the letter S just for fun!

Susu's clothing resembles both of her parents, wearing a green cropped jacket and a traditional chinese pink qipao/cheongsam underneath. Using glasses was not exactly necessary since she's not a full Aburame, but she thinks they look awesome so she doesn't remove them often

Both of her two braids and bows resemble dragonflies, as their body is long and thin and their lower wings are bigger than the upper ones. (A common name I have seen to refer Shinoten as is "Dragonfly" and it makes a lot of sense, so I decided to include that symbolism because of it. It's super cute 🥹)

A bit more about her!

- She is 12 years old and in Boruto's class, meaning that her dad is her teacher!

- Susu is introverted and struggles with showing her emotions, so most of her classmates find her a bit creepy, but she is really trying her best to open up!

- She loves spring rolls and it's one of her favorite foods!

- Her body holds both kikaichu and kidaichu. It's capable of holding much more dangerous insects, but Shino wanted her to be safe and have a normal childhood 🤙

- Susu is great at sealing techniques and weaponry! Tenten taught her a lot about them!

A question, if I may be so bold: what is it you like about Shino and Yamagi, as characters and as a pairing?

You've been in the fandom much longer than me and I'm curious what resonated with you about that relationship in particular, in the first place. (The curiosity is possibly motivated by having spent so long picking apart my own obsession with the show, I turn to wondering about others' enjoyment of it as a change of pace!)

Ohhh. I don't think I can answer these questions without giving a bit of backstory, so! I started watching the show on 16th of December 2015, around the time the first cour was finishing airing, just before the two-week winter break. I binged the first 13 episodes and the rest - as it aired. And even on that first watch, there were three pivotal scenes which made such strong impression on me I distinctly remember myself watching them, I remember my reaction.

The first scene was Shino pulling Yamagi out of the Mobile Worker during the first encounter with the Turbines (but of course). Essays could be written on that moment alone. It's just such a well crafted sequence, rising orchestral music perfectly timed with their clasping hands and Yamagi's reaction, his little gasp and a hand Shino grasped held to his heart. It definitaley raised an eyebrow, but most importantly, it set the tone for what Shino and Yamagi's narrative came to be: a collection of small, personal and intimate moments weaved into the grander narrative, very effectively showcasing personal stakes for the people involved in the fight. Of course everyone in Tekkadan has their own personal stakes, but what elevates Shino and Yamagi for me is how palpable was Yamagi's yearning, like his whole world depended on Shino's survival.

The second scene was Shino mourning his comrades after the Brewers fight. This scene floored me, it was as if a whole new emotional dimension to his character was torn open before me, and sucked me in immediately. I was instantly invested in this character. Murata's fantastic voice acting had a lot to do with that as well. Shino was cute before, if a bit loud, but all these new depths and layers!! Funeral Rites as a whole was a double whammy to me, stellar episode from beginning to end. And to top it off, it ends on Shino seeking Yamagi out to thank him. This is my third key moment, it solidified to me that whatever it is between Shino and Yamagi, is real and undeniably there. Yet another private scene loaded with tension and subtext. The dissonance between what the characters are feeling and what they're saying also added a whole different, poignant layer to the dynamic. Shino just a few minutes ago demonstrated he is a character of some considerable heft, but now he's also showing how considerate he is, that he values and acknowledges any act of kindness he's awarded and it's directed at Yamagi personally! In private! He made it so, so easy to become invested on Yamagi's behalf. I became obsessed within a span of few days, and from then on, my pathological attachment to them was being forged through months and months of pain and fearful anticipation.

Didn't help that it's such a smartly written relationship, nuanced, subtle. I think the fact that they are not the main characters helped a lot in this case. It doesn't beat you over the head with overly dramatic gestures, the strength of that relationship lays in how normal and relatable it is. It's just two boys, one has a crush, the other is oblivious, but not hopelessly so. I really wanted this for Yamagi, and I wanted the sunny boy to survive, I wanted them to defeat the odds. I was always aware all the necessary components for an effective tragedy were already there, but I dared to hope! Paradoxically, the more obvious the looming tragedy, the more I deluded myself it can be avoided because it's too obvious. Needless to say I got burned so badly I don't think I'll ever hope for anything ever again. I'm still hurting. I still think it was a colossal waste of a beautifully established queer romance. It could've been historic. Making fanworks for them is how I cope, and I think I'm going to be coping for a long while yet.

Apart from all the above, their interactions are just so great! They're filled with warmth, but also some bite. Yamagi is head over heels in love with Shino but he's not oblivious to his faults, he gives banter and push back. Sometimes he forces Shino to confront realities he'd rather avoid. They are a good match because their contrasting personalities are not so much at odds with each other but rather they compliment one another. And it's by design because, just like Mika and Orga, the two were designed around each other since the beginning. Shino is the Sun, Yamagi is the Moon. Much like Shino needs (and enjoys) Yamagi to discipline him at times and bring some sense into him, Yamagi needs Shino's energy to push himself beyond his self imposed limitations. The CD drama showcases this aspect really well, imo. I love that Yamagi's presence forces Shino to go a couple levels of intensity lower, so he can meet Yamagi where he's at, and that's where we see the real tenderness in Shino come out. Also because their scenes often just happen to involve physical contact of some sort, that in itself generates a lot of great chemistry. Now, most of that comes from Shino just being the guy with no sense of personal space, but it's also more opportunity to show how different is the touch he has for Yamagi and the other guys. Because Yamagi is not just "one of the guys" and never has been. I guess in Shino's mind Yamagi has his own category. He's so protective of him, and looks at him with such fondness. It's his own, patented "looking at the one I want to protect" type of smile. It's such a mutually uplifting relationship. I'll die on the hill that Yamagi triggered the resolution to Shino's character conflict, he is responsible for Shino's growth just like Shino is responsible for Yamagi's.

They're a solid unit and a great team, much like in personal life, their skills and capabilities compliment one another. I could go for an entire season of just this dynamic. I love me some back-to back buddies and I prefer the dynamic to be equal. Most my previous ships were that, though admittedly this is more of a Shino and Eugene's thing. "The one who waits, and the one who goes into action" is more of a traditional heteronormative ship dynamic, but I still love it because of how good Yamagi is at wrecking Shino's posturing. Yamagi demands to be Shino's equal, and he is. It's pretty much solidified between us that Shino is destined to be dragged by the dick by his sarky twink and honestly, more power to him.

When it comes to the characters themselves, looking back at my other anime blorbos, it's undeniable I have a type(s). Feels like I tend to gravitate toward either the sanguine or the sardonic, and nothing in between. Shino and Yamagi embody these traits to a T, albeit and in a more subdued fashion and maybe that contributes to me being so into them. Although they also carry unique emotional vulnerability that effectively breaks the trope. Shino is this larger than life, louder than life, unreasonable, bombastic man, but he is also the one with deep rooted insecurity and feelings of his own disposability. Yamagi is the stoic, sarcastic, sophisticated man in the making, yet he is the one with the all encompassing, melancholic infatuation. I adore Yamagi's entire character as a concept. He had my heart in a vice. I don't know how anybody can not feel for him. I think I've already said a lot about why Yamagi is so special to me above. He's this strong, uncompromising, loving soul trapped in a fragile body. Completely out of place for his surroundings but still capable enough to make himself indispensible. I honestly think he's cool! We cannot forget he drove a freaking train, jumped out of a moving vehicle, and climbed a mobile suit! It's like he can go from vulnerable to takes-no-piss attitude in a second. Like he's very cute and all, but he's also a bit of a bully. There is no extravagance in his looks and mannerisms (beside his fabulous hairstyle) and it's very refreshing to see in a gay anime character.

As for Shino, in general he seems like a character created with a lot of love. I think all in all, he's one of the most well crafted, multifaceted characters in the entire cast. I love all his little quirks and eccentricities. His free and unabashed expressions of emotion. The way the good and wholesome aspects of his personalty contrast with the reality of who he is, a trained soldier willing to kill for his cause. He's the character who shows this contrast within Tekkadan really well because of how vividly his jovial personality clashes with his circumstances, I think. I love juxtapositions like that within characters and Shino has those in spades. Most notably, the self-sacrificial undercurrent which manifetsts outwardly as him willing to take the protective role, no matter the cost. His lust for life and utter devotion to his family combined with the casual acceptance of his mortality give me chills. Or the mask of a horny goofball covering the more reflective bits of his nature. I like that he seems to be incapable of guile. Like he's so genuine and so utterly lost whenever he's witnessing the gang's scheming sessions. He's great with children, he's free of prejudice, he's a great caretaker and a rock solid support for his mates. And if I'm being honest, I was not at all surprised when he was revealed as bi, like maybe it's feeding into the stereotype, but I've personally always saw enough flamboyancy there for that to be a possibility. I think this doesn't just serve his romantc plotline, it also informs his character more broadly, in that his capacity for love is virtually endless. I just wish he was let out of the closet more openly and allowed to live his truth. Goddamn he deserved better.

Also he's just hot!! Excuse me, but how is Shino not the hottest guy in IBO? Like I realise he's not intended for the audience to be necessarily perceived as that, McGillis and Gaelio are obviously the intended heartthrobs, but it's no coincidence Shino demolished "most desirable" ranking within the small queer community I watched the show with, lmao. Have people seen his original character artwork by Yu? The dreamy eyes, full lips, lashes for days? That's Tekkadan's true pretty boy right there! It's weird because he's the hot and dangerous war-man, and my cute baby boy I want to protect with all my might at the same time. I cannot with these conflicting feelings :u

Poly Rep: Girlfriend, Girlfriend

Girlfriend, Girlfriend is a romantic-comedy manga by author Hiroyuki.

Naoya has been in love with Saki for years, but despite constantly declaring his love, she's always rejected him--until recently. Not too long after they start dating, though, Naoya is asked out by Nagisa, a girl who has had a crush on him for a while.

Nagisa shows such dedication that Naoya can't bring himself to turn her down...so he takes her to Saki, and asks her permission to date them both. Initially, Saki is vehemently against it, but Nagisa gives her puppy dog eyes and says "pleeeaaaseeee??" Saki can't say no to a cute girl, so she agrees.

GFGF is a comedy series first, and a romance series second. The polyamorous relationship between the main three is used as a vessel for the series' comedy. This usually consists of characters being angry about it for laughs. The relationship is consistently referred to as "two-timing", etc, and the readers are reminded very often that Naoya is scum for dating two women. It gives the impression that the author is only writing about polyamory because he thinks it's funny, and he thinks it's funny because it's wrong...which is very frustrating as a polyamorous reader.

The series can never seem to decide whether or not Saki and Nagisa are happy in this relationship. They will waffle between being perfectly content, and wanting Naoya to themselves and lamenting the situation they're in. Then, later on, Mirika and Shino join the fray, and they are both constantly deriding the relationship and expressing how wrong it is. (At least Shino makes solid points, interrogating Naoya about bigamy being illegal, and asking how he intends to financially support two people in this economy. She comes at it the wrong way, but her concerns are valid lol.)

During certain stretches of the series, it feels like every chapter is telling the reader, "this relationship is morally and socially wrong, but isn't it funny how scummy this guy is?"

Spoilers from here on out:

There are some very lovely moments, in particular chapter 129, after Saki has broken off the relationship because sharing Naoya makes her too sad. While the plot development itself feels like its retreading the same ground other arcs did, the conclusion is heartfelt. Shino and Nagisa agree that if Saki isn't happy, the relationship can't work, and they'll back off so she can date Naoya monogamously. They tell her that they love her, and want to see her happy, and they hope one day she might love them just as much. Saki bursts into tears and exclaims that she loves them both so much, and she always had fun while they were together. She comes to the conclusion that she's ultimately okay with the relationship after all, because, despite the sadness she feels from sharing Naoya, the happiness she feels at seeing the girls she cares about happy as well outweighs it.

THIS is fantastic. It's beautifully written and illustrated, the drama is great and heart-wrenching. I cry every time I read it.

But it's followed by Saki kind of, sighing, rolling her eyes, and letting Shino into the polycule. It still feels begrudging, even after all of that. Again, it's frustrating to read.

I could rant forever about Mirika and how deeply irritating I found her as a character, but I'll summarize it as this: she spends the entire series telling the main cast that not only is their relationship wrong and never going to work, but she's going to break them up and keep Naoya for herself. Then she joins the polycule at the end with no significant development to change that perspective. It's unsatisfying, not only because all of her wrong-doing throughout the series is basically ignored/forgiven, but it also doesn't do her character any sort of justice. SHE didn't want to be in a polyamorous relationship. She actively hated the idea, and down to the very last second, she continues to refuse it. Then...Naoya begs her to join the polycule, and she says yes. That's it.

I would say, in my opinion, as far as polyamorous representation goes, GFGF mostly fails. Some moments shine through, but the majority of the series is almost hostile to the very concept of polyamory, even if it is done in a comedic fashion.

If you're able to take this kind of writing on the chin and not be bothered by it, you very well might enjoy GFGF. I wouldn't go so far as to never recommend it to anyone looking for poly rep in anime/manga. But I definitely know of other series I'd recommend first.

Anyways tbh I never consider my things to be along the lines of canon because Naruto’s franchise is just so stuffed and I’ve never followed through but a few of charachter that have grabbed my attention.

-A favourite one I’ve made up in my head is Alice in Borderland AU. If u don’t know Alice in Borderland is made up of bunch of death games, the difficulty and nature of which are determined by playing cards ( ♥️ mean psychological games , ♠️- strength, ♦️-Intelligence, ♣️- a mix of these plus teamwork. They range from 2 to face cards Jack, Queen, King pretty self explanatory). Although they do have their own venues like supermarket, tunnels, botanical gardens, they are played throughout the entire city in Tokyo, players also must engage in the games as they have visa points, and they get eliminated not doing so. So it’s kind of like Squid game but a lot different too. Not trying to spoil if you’ve ever thought about watching it but what’s interesting about it is that when you (and other people) clear all numbered games (from 2-10), instead of just clearing face cards, you need to face the “citizens” representing them. (I hope this was clear enough I’m not good at explaining series or movies sorry😭) the citizens have also been players but upon clearing the games, they chose to stay in the Borderlands (Tokyo)

Anyways since I loved the Queen of Hearts and her final game in the OG series I also think that Hinata would befit a lot as the Queen of hearts. But instead of AIB which showed a very calm and calculating character, Hinata would be a little closer to the Alice in wonderlands depiction. Shy, timid/ but also a lot more unstable/explosive. I don’t know I just really like a Hinata more off the rails especially if Nart faces her as a player and it’s either they get killed or she does. A fun idea would also be her as a player facing family members such as Neji.

-Uhhhhhh a headcanon I have for Hinata is that after she was ousted as a heiress, after a period of grief, she came to embrace a lot of her childishness/ joyful self. Started going out a lot more often, dared to step out of her comfort zones. Even doing things she always liked to do such as decorating her room, collecting cute figurines. She didn’t get scolded about it anymore since no one cared, but she would get weird looks from Hanabi who was over from her childhood stuff.

Also she’s been besties with Shino before genin era. The two of them in the last year of academy would try and skip class ESPECIALLY after Hinata was kind of again(😭) “dethroned”. Since they were the usual quiet kid #1 somehow social but still quiet kid #2, no one really suspected anything.

Every time you see his hair down it’s just an urge to go up to him a play with it, it looks so soft honestly! You never have before but one day after he takes a nice shower and walk out with his hair down and freshly dried you just had to ask!

“Why are You staring at me y/n? You think I’m that handsome?~” he teases “well you are handsome but I’m just looking at your hair” “ah why?” “It looks so soft!” “Oh!…want to touch it?” He walks over to you bowing his head in front of you while giving you cute puppy eyes. You reach for a strand of his hair and just as you thought it was soft as silk! “Oh my god what conditioner do you use babe?” He giggles while sitting down next to you, not moving his head away from your loving hand. You sat there playing with his hair for hours!

Kiba🐺-*

He always sees how excited akamaru gets when you pet him so he kinda wondered what if felt like, but he didn’t want to be weird so he didn’t know how to ask. So he didn’t ask!

“What’s up kibaa?” “Hey y/n!!” He lays down on your lap which he does often but this time he did something different “can I have your hand y/n?” “Of course puppy!” He grabs your hand and immediately places it on his head waiting for you to get the hint. “Uh? Heh what are you doing…OHHHHH you want me to play with your hairrr how cutee!!” “Shut up y/n!!! Gosh cant a guy get some pets without being teased.” You laugh at his response. But you gladly gave him all the pets he wanted! (Akamaru was jealous)

Shikamaru🀄️-*

Similar to kakashi, you rarely see his hair down so once you saw him relaxing in bed with his hair down you couldn’t resist

You crawl in bed with him which Suprisingly he didn’t realize, but once you started playing with the ends of his hair he opened his eyes to look at you “uh, what are you doing dear?” “Playing with your hair” “w-why?” “Because I Love You?” “Hm, Ok……can you brush it out while your at it? It’ll get frizzy and I’m to lazy to deal with it” “of course! But only if you don’t whine about it” “be gentle and I won’t whine!” He closes his eyes waiting to feel the brush softly dragging through his hair (for now on he always asks you to brush his hair)

Shino🪲-*

He doesn’t mind what you do to him as long as your happy! I feel like his hair gets frizzy in humidity and your happy to take care of it, kind of like shika. Except he asks you to help not because of the frizz he just secretly likes your hands on his hair

He walks up to you after a fresh shower and hands you a comb, detangle stray and a normal brush. You look up at him a little lost just to see his hair poofy and slightly curled “…do you want me to do your hair?” “Yes I don’t know how” (he does he just wants you to do it) “hm Finee, cmon sit in front of me” you took very nice care of his hair which he appreciated so much. Now most of the time when you play with his hair it just turns into you playing salon with him (LOL)

Neji🎋-*

I’ve said it before he loves it when you play with his hair but he will never ask. Normally he just sits next to you and play with his own hair until you do it for him. He thinks he’s so sneaky when he does it but in reality it’s so obvious he wants your attention

He’s currently braiding the ends of his hair which he never does so you knew what he wanted already “neji what are you doing sweetheart?” “Just braiding my hair” He looks up at you with a small smirk hoping you caught on “oh ok!…may I help?” “YES” “…” “uhm I mean…sure!” He’s not smooth at all but let’s just pretend he is- he just lays on his stomach and let’s you do whatever you want to his long hair. You can put it up in a bun or maybe a ponytail, whatever you pick he just likes the attention!

Lee🥋-*

He also LOVESSSS attention, love and care no matter what! He would just jump onto you and beg for you to pet him! Which you always do, especially after a long day he lovesss ittt

“Y/n-Chan! Please! I would do anything just for you to play with my hair!” You look at him for a while just to soak in his pouty lips and puppy dog eyes, but you took to long to respond so he took it as a no apparently. “PLEASE,PLEASE,PLEASE,PLEASE,PLE-” “YES LEE OK!!” “YAY!” He tucks his head into your hand so you could hold onto his face while playing with his hair, also so he can stare at your beautiful face with love in his eyes

Now this boy has a lot of hair, it’s a like a blanket! So sometimes you just cling to his back and bury your head into his fluffy hair. Other than cuddling into his hair you also love playing with it. One time you put them into two pig tails and he looks ADORABLE! He didn’t take them out the whole day

“Your sooooo CUTEEE AHHH” He is currently twirling his hair which you put into a cute ponytail “ya think so y/n?” “Mhm!! But let’s try something elsee” you take the band holding his hair up out gently as to not put any hair out, then you dragged both hands from his scalp all the way down his hair which made him shiver. You grabbed two pieces of his hair from the front of his head to put them into two buns. After that you took a look at his cute face. “Oh my gosh you look like a cute little bear!” “Ha little?” “Yeah your just a silly little guy!” Which made him blush. He loves moments like this

He is very timid with any new form of physical affection so when you suggested playing with his hair he was a little shy but also confused, why does she want to touch my hair? Is it because it’s red? He didn’t understand but was willing

“I’m ok with you touching my hair I’m just wondering why?” You smile at his curiosity “it’ll feel good sweetheart, I’ll give you a nice head massage~” he likes massages so that comforted him a little. Once you made contact with his hair he felt a little less anxious. “Feel good?” His eyes softened while he turned drowsy “yes…thank you” he fell asleep not to far into the massage, but now you know any time he has trouble sleeping you could put him to sleep by playing with his hair

I’ve said before he LOVES his hair, you rarely get to touch is. But he will let you touch it if you pull it play with it which he does like but never admits it

“Why would I let your touch my glorious hair!” “You let me pull it last night?” “SHUP UP?!” Teasing him is always fun so you get a laugh out of it, but you do really want to play with his hair “no serious let me play with it! Ep 71:

-Temari is so cool

-so like I feel like the show is really glossing over Orochimaru bringing people’s souls back from the dead

-I get that they have to have a super cool all-out Hokage vs Hokages fight, but wouldn’t the first and second Hokages be limited by the chakra reserves of their “hosts”? (Since it’s explained that their souls are in other people’s bodies)

- I like that the three Hokages have different elemental styles that they use

-so like what even is Orochimaru’s deal. Like apparently he was/is human, but also he’s kinda not??? I need some backstory for him or something right about now

Ep 72:

-I wonder how much Temari’s fan weighs

-with how often substitutions and clones are used, I really feel like people need to be WAY more wary of the possibility that the person they’re fighting isn’t the real one

-the show heard my call for more Orochimaru lore and answered it and WOW is it fucked up

-not the Hokage summoning fucking DEATH

-ngl that montage and monologue at the end of the episode showing the people of Konoha got me emotional (the music was also really good), that’s definitely one of my favorite moments from the show so far

Ep 73:

-good on Jiraiya for helping to defend the village but also I find it hilarious that his way of fighting so far has just been summoning giant toads

-damn so the Hokage basically made a deal with the devil, huh

-yay I want to see Kankuro fight more

-YEAH SHINO GET YOUR SCREENTIME

-I like that we can’t see Shino’s eyes, even at angles where we theoretically should be able to

-I’m hyped for this Shino vs Kankuro fight ngl

Ep 74:

-it’s hard to make Sasuke look completely normal and well-adjusted, but Gaara is so incredibly edgy that he somehow does it

-Shino made a clone out of bugs instead of using a clone jutsu or substitution? Call that “bugstitution” (I’m so funny I know)

-I feel so bad for saying this but I really don’t care about how Konohamaru is doing right now

-ugh Iruka my king I missed you

-Orochimaru and the Hokage are basically playing tug of war with Orochimaru’s soul lol

-JESUS CHRIST GAARA

-Shino hanging upside-down from bug tendrils was really cool actually

-welp Kankuro’s definitely gonna develop a fear of bugs after this

-Shino is such a badass, I know Kankuro’s poison knocked him out but he definitely won that battle

-it’s monumentally funny to me that Gaara is this raging monster but he’s also still a tiny kid. Just a lil guy.

Ep 75:

-someone get Gaara a Tylenol asap

-every time Sasuke calls himself an “avenger” I die inside a little from secondhand embarrassment

Ep 76:

-I feel bad for Sasuke but also I couldn’t look at him being hunched over in pain without thinking of that one meme about people projecting period pain onto characters

-again, Gaara needs some Tylenol

-baby Gaara with his giant raccoon eyes was so cute

-I was feeling depressed over Gaara and then Gai came on screen and I just started grinning, I love him so much

-I already knew almost all of Gaara’s backstory that was shown in this episode but god is it still putting me through the emotional wringer. He was just a hurt little kid and he wanted loveeeeeee

Ep 77:

-okay so I do know that Yashamaru lied to Gaara about hating him but I don’t remember why and I really can’t figure it out. Like sir why are you telling this very emotionally damaged child something that will just make his mental state worse????

-I feel like Gaara’s advanced fox form could have looked a lot cooler than it does, it looks super awkward and clunky in a lot of shots

-I hate how we keep having little interludes of Orochimaru and the Hokage having their standoff. Like nothing has actually happened with them in a while but the show has to remind us that they exist I guess

Ep 78:

-Naruto PLEASE stop sticking stuff up people’s butts

-awww Sasuke actually cares

-it’s funny how shook Sasuke is by Naruto’s fighting

-it cut away from Naruto and Gaara and I thought it was going to cut to Orochimaru and the Hokage for the fiftieth time and I was about to be so annoyed, but then it cut to Gai and Kakashi and I was like aw hell yeah

-…and then it cut to Orochimaru and the Hokage afterwards anyways (although given what happens at the end of this episode it was actually completely justified this time)

-I completely forgot Hayate died ngl

-YO WE GET TO SEE THE PARENTS FIGHTING HELL YEAH

-holy shit Shadow Strangle jutsu is cool

-shoutout to Kiba’s mom. Why is she the only ninja parent who’s not a man

-also random thought: Kiba’s mom’s dog talks but I’m pretty sure Akamaru never does, so is there a reason for that or is it just random?

-anyways I don’t know if we ever get to see people’s non-ninja parents but it’s a little funny that almost all the kids with known ninja parents (Shikamaru, Choji, Ino, Kiba, Neji) look extremely similar to said ninja parents. Like the non-ninja parents’ genes really didn’t try

-Hinata is kinda the exception, which makes sense for her character. And with Shino and his dad it’s obviously a little hard to tell

-aww Shino’s dad saved him <3

-wow Naruto really won that fight with a headbutt lmao

-rip Lord Hokage, I’m still not sure what I think of you but I guess you were cool????

-the last thing the Hokage saw before he died being young Orochimaru was interesting. Like he still desperately wanted to see the humanity in him or something

Ep 80:

-it was right before a serious moment but seeing Naruto wiggle his way over to Gaara made me chuckle

-I like that Naruto flashes back to Haku even though that part of the story is long over, it gives the sense that the story is one continuous arc rather than multiple different arcs

-aw Gaara apologized to his siblings😭

-so uhhh is Sasuke just fine after overusing his chidori and dealing with the curse mark flaring up again??? I feel like there was a lack of proper consequences there

-I know I was supposed to be sad during the funeral scene but Iruka hugging Konohamaru made me soft, I love him so much he’s so full of care and good and hchdhshsjsjaka

-I really liked seeing a montage of all the kids having moments with the Hokage, it really added to the whole “the village is a family” thing
