and they said. they said. that this was “occam’s razor” logic.

occam’s razor. the problem-solving philosophy of seeking explanations with the fewest steps or smallest amount of elements. had them conclude that there is a canonical moment that the showrunners decided was not important to include. a moment that would’ve made it clear that izzy’s “he promised me” wasn’t made-up bullshit. and even tho they did not include this in the show. clearly this is the most logical and straightforward explanation for that line.

not that izzy’s stretching the truth again, like he did in episode three. “i explicitly told him, blackbeard desired his company” when he very much DID NOT tell stede that.

that second explanation. apparently has more steps to it. than assuming there’s a whole scene that we never see for some reason. hello.

THE SPECIFICS OF THIS SHOT. i was gonna make a post a while ago being like "idk i find it funny that the main focus of this shot isnt even one of the poets" and then i realised that WAITTTTTTT THATS THE POINT!!!! keating reached kids besides the poets!!! u didnt have to be in the dead poets society to be affected by the way he taught his classes!!! u just had to be his student!!!!! also i love the fact that the kids who stayed seated r ASHAMED. EMBARRASSED.

the ending shot. oihghgghgg. it was SUCH a choice to set it up this way and honestly i adore peter for making it. this shot is SOOOO UNCOMFORTABLE TO LOOK AT and i love it. when i first watched this i was like "uhm ok interesting choice putting todd between this kids legs but I GET IT. one of the biggest things i remember from the film classes i took is that the way u set up shots is sooo important narratively, and one way to rly push the narrative is the space around a character in a shot. for example! if u have a character on screen surrounded by a TON of negative space then it rly emphasises how alone/ isolated they are. on the other end of the spectrum (the todd spectrum), if you surround a character in a shot with other objects or obstructions, like todd and this kids legs, then it rly emphasises how trapped and confined they are. looking at this makes me feel like. claustrophobic almost, like it's genuinely a bit harder to breathe looking at it. TODD IS STILL TRAPPED IN THAT SCHOOL. YES HE STOOD ON THE DESK AND YES HE NOW HAS THE MOTIVATION TO BE MORE CONFIDENT BC OF NEIL BUT HE! IS STILL! TRAPPED THERE!

i was also gonna add that we dont rly talk about todd personality wise outside of poetry and anxiety but then i realised, what else is there? we dont really see much about him as a person outside of that, and i think thats the point! todd is constantly overshadowed by his brother, we know that, but i dont think we realise HOW MUCH that ties in with his entire character. quite honestly, outside of poetry and anxiety, ALL we have surrounding todd is his brother and his achievements. and of course! that makes sense! his parents want him to be just like his brother, they dont care about who he is as a person. 'Kay, so game verse and anime/manga verse are kind of different. Even the game name says "alternative rap battle" instead of division rap battle.

(I assume u already know TDD Era and stuff.)

It was another mundane day of your life. Pillows surrounded your figure, as you flipped pages of the manga (online or not, up to you). Your drink of choice nearby you, ready to be drank and yet, you are too preoccupied with a manga that you recently found out about. This past months, you've been listening to drama tracks, the songs and reading the manga. The storyline is quite complicated in the beginning, but the more you read, the more you understand. You felt so many emotions during the reading process. Sadness, anger, happiness, love. You were so hooked on it.

Unbeknownst to you, figures inside the said manga were having an existenal crisis. Nothing really new to Ramuda, but you get me. The days have been going as they used to. Rap battles went well. Nothing seemed out of place except for the strange feeling. The feeling of being watched. No one understood why did they feel this way. It was not a stalker was it? They became paranoid, until they started hearing voices. Who is it..?

First ones to become self-aware: Ramuda, Rio, Saburo, Kuko(?), Sasara, Iris, Gentaro, Doppo, Otome.

Everyone finds out or accepts it later, then the characters I listed.

I think some of them hated you, some didn't mind you, while others ignored you. They thought you would leave after a while, and yet, you stay. Why are you watching them?

For some reason they can somewhat feel what you feel towards them. Perhaps their universe is intune with your emotions? Would...would they all die if you stopped liking them?

Their world seems to constantly change as well. Why? Some days you were watching them, and sometimes talking. Other days you..sang along with them? Tried to help them sing better? Helped them during some battles..? (Game moments)

It certainly took everyone a good while to warm up to you. Some warmed up quicker than others (Dice and Jiro, they thought you were some guardian angel or something. Like- you're helping them fr)

I've seen a lot of ppl say Gwen/Peter B betrayed Miles. But maybe 'betrayed' is kinda strong word to use? I mean, couldn't tell the truth isn't exactly the same as betraying someone.

For Gwen, she didn't care much abt her mission when she visited Miles (+ she wasn't supposed to go see him, if anything she betrayed her mission for Miles). Her interest was solely on Miles, so she never really did anything there other than place a spyspider only to completely forget about it moments later. Keeping an eye on the tracker but never really focusing on what's happening with The Spot. (Again, she's slacking off her mission FOR MILES)

Gwen and Peter B weren't also actively pursuing Miles at HQ with malicious intent. Gwen caught him when he was falling and waited on him. Understandably, Miles broke her web but hey... she let him go anyway.

Peter B was dreadful when his tracker went off when he was talking to Miles. Judging by his reaction, that was NOT his doing and he never meant for that to happen.

Also, they both tried to reason that Miles isn't an enemy, he's literally just a kid, and that they should let him go. Only for Gwen to be shut down by Jess, and Peter's pleases be ignored by Miguel.

I think the reason her and Peter B were trying so hard to tell Miles to stand down was because they were concerned that he was gonna get himself hurt.

What's more is that, Gwen and Peter B defended Miles against Miguel anyway. (I know it was a little late, but Miguel's actions were becoming dangerously concerning and THEY were the ONLY ones to have realized this and acted against it) This caused both of them to get kicked out.

So...no betrayals there whatsoever. But maybe that's me being biased idk.

Idk Brave, I've personally kind of liked the idea of the Ideal Masters becoming less and less mortal (they were mages at first, weren't they?) that in 4E they're just big silent crystals that suck your energy off if you get too close. Definitely more menacing to me

The ideal masters are very fucked up and immoral in battlespire. Most refuse to talk to you and the one that does is humoring you with “okay I’ll listen to you. If you serve me. But in order to serve me I need you to kill yourself <3” and then ignoring u again when you refuse. They clearly do not value mortal life whatsoever and still see it only as a source of their power, and clearly are able to be bargained with given you need to make a contract to give up half your soul

While I think them being ppl who won’t even talk to mortals anymore completely losing their ability to even humor mortals in the last 2 centuries or so would be menacing and scary. I think it falls flat bc we have so many enemies like that in Skyrim. Dragons are intelligent, sentient creatures w their own language and culture and you can only talk to like, 3 of them. Most just mindlessly attack you the same as any other dragon and act like they have the same level of intelligence as a bear or sabercat. And like almost every enemy in Skyrim is as generic as they come and can’t be talked with either.

In battlespire you can talk to various daedra and hear about their lives and how they talk. It’s mostly a dungeon crawler but it gives depth to the world on that sense, even if all the Daedra don’t always have complex things to say, you understand them more. The ideal masters only help you out bc you tell them Dagon is gonna go stopping thru their pocket realm if they don’t help ur ass get thru and be hey RELUCTANTLY agree bc in the end they only care abt themselves.

If Skyrim had more actual unique problem solving like persuasion and lying and things that required more than swinging a sword I wouldn’t mind tbh. It’s possible they don’t even wanna bother w the Dragonborn or are so beyond mortals they don’t even bother talking. But bc that’s how basically everything in Skyrim I just feel like it’s a cop out to have them there and not do anything actually interesting w them. At least the soul cairn looks cool (RIP jiub)
