who’s protecting who?
park jihyo x fem!reader
summary: in the midst of attempting to keep jihyo from getting hurt, you ultimately forget about yourself
cw: none, men dni
wc: 5k
a/n: first fic in a while hooray!! my friends and i beat the pickleball pandemic and caught the volleyball virus instead, so enjoy this fluffy vb themed fic :p (this might be my longest one yet)
as you finished ringing up the last customer of the usual lunch rush, you felt your phone buzz in your back pocket. hurriedly assuring the customer that their order would be out soon and excusing yourself to the back, you asked your coworker to take over the counter for a bit while you took a small break from standing for so long.
pulling your phone out of your pocket and into your hand, you saw a text message flash across your screen, slightly blocking the lockscreen picture you had of your girlfriend kissing your cheek.
jihyo 🩷
y/nnn i think i wanna try volleyball and learn how to be as good as u :pp
smiling as your eyes flickered between reading her text and reminiscing on the exact moment the photo on your phone was taken, you tapped on the message and replied.
okay love i"ll teach u lol
knowing jihyo had a busy schedule consisting of both work and her 12 different hobbies, you didn't want her to overwhelm herself by taking on yet another one. nonetheless, you were excited to have her join you in something that you've always imagined the two of you doing together.
u sure ur not too busy tho?
it'd been about 2 years since you first picked up the sport as a pastime with a couple friends. eventually it turned into friendly tournaments on the weekends at the local community court with other groups, which then turned into trying out for professional leagues and miraculously making it into one.
jihyo 🩷
i can always make time silly
unfortunately, your break time was now quickly coming to an end, so you rushed to type out a response and carelessly shoved your phone back into your pocket.
we can go after i get off work then :) wear something u can freely move in and put on ur most comfortable shoes. i love u see u soon ml
speedrunning through the last few hours of your shift was excruciating when all you could think about was finally being able to show the girl you loved most how to play the sport you loved most. the anticipation of coaching her into becoming a better player than you made it impossible for you to focus on making a drink as simple as an iced latte.
"oh shit-" you whispered to yourself, realizing that you'd almost overfilled the cup with the caffeinated liquid.
as you clocked out and drove home, you couldn't stop yourself from mindlessly humming and calmly dancing to the music you had playing in your car. your coworkers even stopped to ask you, "what's got you in such a good mood?" multiple times.
and to no surprise, jihyo was already packed and ready to go the minute you opened the door to your shared apartment. the oversized backpack on her shoulders was filled to the brim with snacks and water for the active evening ahead. her sporty outfit was exactly what you'd imagined your girlfriend would wear. a slightly loose fitting muscle tee, athletic leggings, and her new favorite pair of running shoes on her feet to top it all off.
you couldn't help but melt at her eagerness as you took your shoes off and set your keys down onto the table by your shoe rack.
"hi baby," you said amusedly, "you're well prepared i see."
she beamed at you with her doe eyes and hummed in agreement as she skipped towards you to greet you with a kiss. her warm lips made contact with yours in a desperate manner, almost a silent message to relay just how much she'd missed you since you left for work early in the morning. you pulled away just enough to where your lips barely grazed each other, "let me change first and then we can be on our way, okay?" you pecked her lips again and once more to her cheek as you walked away to your shared bedroom to free yourself of your coffee reeking clothes. jihyo quickly set her backpack down onto the couch and followed behind you shortly.
you changed into your team's white long sleeved compression jersey with your custom number on the back; a bright pink "21" for jihyo, of course. soon after, you slid into your spandex shorts and turned your head to the side to see jihyo leaning up against the wall next to you. the sunlight shining through the open blinds accentuated her features perfectly. she was smiling proudly as she watched you morph into a different version of yourself that she only saw at your games.
"what're you looking at.." you said shyly, suddenly feeling self-conscious under your girlfriend's gaze.
she only giggled in response and lifted herself off the wall to fill the room with a loud smacking sound as she slapped your ass and made her way over to your bed, plopping down and facing the ceiling. you immediately let out a loud "oww!!" and rubbed over your burning cheek to soothe it.
"so, who are we playing against today? anyone i should be worried about?" jihyo asked. you walked over to the full-sized mirror in the corner of the room before answering her question, still focused on the stinging pain she left. "hm? oh, actually we aren't playing a real match today. i'm just gonna be showing you the basics and whatnot," you replied, tying your hair into a messy low bun at the same time.
a couple seconds of silence passed, concerning you enough to make you look behind you through the mirror and see your girlfriend who once laid flat down suddenly pin-straight up glaring at you. her posture was something out of a horror movie the way her back was perfectly aligned and her hands were beside her knees. you gulped and almost genuinely got scared until you glanced down to see her feet barely touching the floor. that's when you choked back a laugh at how cute her attempt at intimidating you was.
you finished up doing your hair and walked towards your pouty girlfriend. "what's wrong? why are you making a face like you just came out of one of those insidious movies?” you asked, pulling out a few strands to frame your face.
she whined in response, "i don't wanna learn the basics.. that's so boring. i wanna learn how to really play volleyball. not that kiddie stuff for the youth age group." you reached a hand up to tuck a loose strand of hair behind her ear, "hey! that 'kiddie stuff' is really important, you know. you can't just go right into spiking without knowing how to hit and jump correctly first," you grumbled. jihyo looked at you confusedly, "..spiking..?" "exactly," you huffed.
jihyo groaned as she launched herself backwards onto the bed, the sheets rustling under her and beginning to surround her as she sunk further into the mattress.
"trust meee, it's for your own safety, love. i just don't want you getting hurt if i let you go right into a game not knowing what to do, that's all. a one-on-one session is always the best option for beginners," you reassured her, grabbing both of her arms and slowly pulling her up towards you. when you heard your girlfriend groan at you again, you realized it could be something else bothering her.
"ohh, or are you just annoyed that you have to be alone with me?? is that what this is??" you asked teasingly. but as soon as she heard that, jihyo stopped her whining immediately and scrunched her eyebrows up in a questioning manner, shaking her head aggressively.
"w-what? no! why would i be not wanna be alone with you! i just wanna be good already! just like.. let me skip the tutorial or something pleaseee," she pleaded. jihyo removed her arms from your grip and wrapped them around your waist, pulling you closer to her. you mockingly nodded your head and sarcastically spewed out "uh huhs" and "mhms" repeatedly, letting your girlfriend continue tightly hugging you and begging you for a free pass.
-
during the whole car ride there, it was impossible for you and jihyo to spend more than 2 seconds without touching each other in some way. whether it be her insisting she hold your hand while she secretly gushed at how attractive you look driving one-handed, or her switching to playing with your fingers while she asked more volleyball questions, or even kissing at each red light, there was never a single moment in that car where you two weren’t expressing your love in a form of touch.
as you pulled into the parking lot of the court complex, jihyo remembered the long nights and hours upon hours you would spend at these courts — it was practically your second home. that thought suddenly worried her that she might’ve been taking away your precious practice hours.
“baby, don’t you have practice today? if you do, you have to focus on that, not teaching me how to play. we can always do that some other time,” jihyo rambled.
you softly laughed at her flustered state knowing that you never told her the season was over yet. “no, love, don’t worry. it’s off-season for now, i don’t have any practices to go to,” you said reassuringly, squeezing her hand in yours to help settle her down. “plus, i would skip out on practice any day if it meant i could be with you.”
she sighed contently as you parked in an empty spot and turned the car off. before jihyo could even reach to click her seatbelt off, you teleported over to her side, opening the door for her and holding your hand out to help her up from your low sedan seats. your girlfriend mewled at the chivalrous gesture, grinning from ear to ear as she peeked her head out of the door. and to make sure she didn’t bump her head against the doorframe, you shielded her head with your hand as she came up.
popping the trunk open, you grabbed your backpack that was filled with volleyball gear and swung it over one shoulder. you made sure to grab jihyo’s as well, throwing hers over your other shoulder.
“you see that building over there with the big 2 painted on it?” you asked, pointing to the right side of the complex, “that’s where well be. it’s a smaller court though since it’s only a practice gym.” jihyo looked in the direction you pointed at and hummed as she took in the size difference from the competition gym on the left and the practice one you mentioned.
while you were leading her to the unlocked doors of the practice court, jihyo kept pestering you to let her help you with one of the bags you were carrying, but of course you never let up. it even got to the point where you accidentally whacked your poor girlfriend with her own snack-filled bag while twisting and turning in protest of her need to help you.
“oh fu- sorry! i’m sorry, it was an accident i swear!” you frantically apologized, pulling jihyo into a messy hug. the heavy bags on your shoulders slipping off your arms as you held her close to you.
jihyo faked a hissy fit and jokingly pushed you away, “no i get it, you just hate me,” she said firmly, turning her head sharply and crossing her arms.
you paid no mind to your girlfriend’s antics, only catching up to her to hold open the door and watch her stomp past you in a sulk.
“i love youuu,” you chuckled.
her reply was barely audible, but you heard her mumble out an “i love you too” back.
-
setting your things down on the floor along the sidelines, you grabbed out an extra pair of knee pads you'd packed for jihyo. "come here love, let me put these on you," you ordered. it was difficult to slide the pads onto her legs with her shoes still on, so you helped her take them off for the time being, placing the pair neatly beside you.
kneeling down in front of her, you gently lifted one of jihyo's legs up at a time, skillfully adjusting the protective pads around her knee and taking extra precaution to make sure her legs were still able to move properly. you then sat back on your knees and admired your work, wondering why you felt like there was something missing.
"hmm.. i think.. i have something else for you to try on too," you pondered, digging through your bag once again to discover an old pair of extra small knee pads that didn't fit you anymore.
standing up with the gear in your hands, you held your girlfriend's forearm out as you stretched the material to enclose around her limb.
you snickered slightly at your spontaneous idea, "these are makeshift elbow pads specially designed for you." the pads were big enough to fit comfortably around her arms, protecting her exposed elbows from any potential harm.
jihyo allowed you to put them on her with no complaint, but soon began her whining when she began to feel the restricting feeling around her arms that was slightly limiting her movement.
"noo y/n, i don't need these. and they're so uncomfy!! i think i would play better without them.." she argued, scratching at the inside of her elbows to relieve the itching it caused.
knowing that your girlfriend was bound to try something outside of her comfort zone once she got into the flow of things, you decided it was the right decision to do everything in your power to help keep her from hurting herself while doing so. "just wear them please ji, i would feel much better seeing those on you," you refuted. it was true. you felt at peace knowing at least your girlfriend's precious joints were protected if not anything else.
she sighed out annoyedly, but ultimately complied to your requests only because she didn't want you to worry about her.
"thank you, my love," you said in satisfaction. you then reached into the cart of volleyballs behind you as jihyo slipped her shoes back on, squeezing a few to determine which one had enough air in it. grabbing the one you felt was best, you warmed up your wrist a bit by dropping the ball in front of you and striking it straight down, catching it once it came back up a couple times.
"okay, so first things first. you're gonna learn how to serve the ball," you said, leading her to the middle of the court facing the net. "the goal is to hit the ball over the net and onto the opponent's side of the court so that they can receive it and keep it in motion," you softly explained, repositioning her arms and legs into the perfect position for a proper serve.
jihyo picked up the skill quickly as you explained each step to her in full detail, making sure to critique her mistakes and show her the better way of executing her moves. within about 15 minutes of the first lesson, your girlfriend was already on her way to becoming the next star player for your team.
once she got at least 3 serves over the net, you decided she was ready to move onto the next step; receiving the ball. you showed her the proper way to hold her arms together and how to position herself under the ball to pass it to a teammate in front of her. you could tell jihyo was a natural at the sport as she was with any other activity she's ever tried.
after about an hour or so, her form was starting to get smoother and her reaction times were getting faster. but your energy needed replenishing and so did hers.
taking a short break together on the bleachers, you both had a water bottle in hand and shared the protein bar that jihyo had prepared earlier.
"do you wanna try peppering with me? i think you could be pretty good at it at this rate," you asked, sensing the way she was getting antsy to move onto something more advanced.
jihyo had no idea what exactly it was that you were asking her about, but she was eager to try it anyways. you put it in simple terms for her, explaining that it was a back and forth process of hitting and receiving the ball to each other. and just like that, hearing that she would be able to play against you in a way got jihyo excited again, the adrenaline giving her more energy than that protein bar ever did.
"okay! let's do it! come on!" jihyo exclaimed, throwing her bottle to the side and skipping back to the court while grabbing the ball. you smiled at how endearing she was and followed her soon enough, joining her across the same side of the court.
after another hour and a half of you two going at it, jihyo was seriously improving with the minimal coaching she had from you. it was honestly impressive how quickly she adapted to the flow of the game, but you expected nothing less of her.
deciding it was alright to push her a little further since she had all the protective gear in the world on, you picked up your pace a bit and spiked the ball harder, giving her less time to react and training her reflexes. obviously, jihyo played along effortlessly, getting herself hyped up by her newfound skill at volleyball. you could hear her cheer for herself everytime she successfully received the ball and sent it back in your direction.
but what you soon failed to realize was that the once amateur jihyo you knew 3 hours ago was gone. her alter ego had now taken over and fueled her with that insane ambition she had hidden away. as your eyes were too focused on watching her in case she fell, you completely failed to see the flying ball coming at your face at the speed of light.
bam.
you don't really remember what happened next, but it seemed like everything was happening in slow motion. the world faded into a quick darkness as you felt something pushing against your face. that's when reality hit. or better yet, that's when you were hit.
jihyo had gotten carried away with her strength and sent the ball directly towards your lovely face with a perfectly executed spike. not knowing she was capable of that, she screamed out in pure terror when she saw your body fall backwards onto the shiny hardwood floor.
"holy shit! y/n!! oh my god, oh my god!? are you okay??!" she panicked, sprinting over to your side and crouching down to lay you onto her lap.
you could only croak out in pain and kept your eyes sealed shut as the bright fluorescent lights above you were too intense to take in at the moment.
jihyo repeatedly muttered out small apologies and cradled you as she looked over your face to see a big red spot that she left across one side.
"y/n, please.. i'm so sorry baby, please talk to me. do you know who i am?! how many fingers am i holding up?? what's your name? how old are you!" jihyo cried in distress. she cupped your cheek and gently tapped it with her thumb to try and get you alert and awake again.
slowly opening your eyes at the feeling of her soft touch, you blinked your eyes slowly as you adjusted to the bright lights, making out the faint figure of your girlfriend in front of you. "i'm fine, ji, don't worry," you whispered in between groans. you reached a hand up to your forehead, feeling the tenderness as you ran your fingers over the surface. wincing slightly, you regained enough composure to inch your way up off of jihyo's lap, her arms coming behind your back to support your body.
"is there anything i can get you? maybe an ice pack or something?" jihyo said meekly. you could tell even through your disoriented state that she was feeling guilty. before you could even think of an answer, you could only bring yourself to thoughts of hurrying up and recovering so you could show her that it’s okay.
"uhh, yeah. yeah, there should be a um- gel pack in the freezer in the uh.. coach's room across the field," you stammered, squinting your eyes closed when the lights became too much again.
with no hesitation, jihyo got up and ran towards the door to follow your directions as you told her where to get the ice pack.
"you stay right there, okay? don't move," jihyo demanded. you could only nod your head weakly, shifting yourself to slowly lay back down on the cold tile beneath you. the sound of the metal door closing behind jihyo reverberated throughout the open space.
the pain across your face was getting worse as time went by, the throbbing you felt on your eyebrow in sync with your heartbeat.
as your mind started to process what just happened, your brain began to flash images of the ball smashing your face in repeatedly, making you cringe at how dumb you probably looked. with your knees propped up and your feet on the ground, you held your hands to your face and rapidly kicked the floor in a temper tantrum, simultaneously wailing at the replaying moment in your head.
you silently cursed yourself out for allowing yourself to be so careless and possibly giving your girlfriend the ick by seeing you get your face contorted with the sheer force of impact.
shooting your body upright, you slid backwards on your hands towards the wall, leaning against it and rummaging through your bag to find your phone. after you found it, you quickly switched to the camera app to check the damage, already sensing how big the knot on your forehead was going to get in the next hour. sure enough, the large red and tender spot on the left side of your face was growing a lump. being in pure disbelief, you moved the camera further away to get your full face in frame, staring at yourself in shame and embarrassment. after a couple more seconds of examining yourself, you could only conjure up a scoff and put your phone down as soon as you heard the door open loudly again.
jihyo, who came in sprinting to your aid with an ice cold gel pack, was leaving a trail of condensation behind her as it was thawing in her hands. once again, you could only think about how dangerous it would be if she were to slip and fall on the water, but the continually throbbing pain on your face was making it difficult for you to speak up and scold her to be careful.
"here, put this on it for now. it should help the swelling go down," jihyo panted, clearly out of breath from running around outside trying to find the coach's office while being worried sick about you at the same time. she ran her thumb over the small bump forming on your eyebrow and cooed at how much pain you must've been in.
she gently pressed the ice pack to your forehead and kept whispering small apologies, her pretty face scrunched into the cutest concerned look you've ever seen. you weren't usually the type of person to like being taken care of like that, but seeing jihyo like this only made you want to get hurt again just to see that look on her face. but looking down slightly at her arms, you couldn't help but laugh at how ridiculous she looked with those makeshift elbow pads she still had on.
"what's so funny? do you really think you should be laughing right now?" jihyo reprimanded.
you almost cackled in her face at her sternness, but quickly stopped and winced in pain instead when the pain in your face prevented you from forming a real smile.
jihyo tsked at you and told you to shut up, adjusting the ice pack to cover more area on your skin. "stop moving, would you?" you cleared your throat, "sorry it's just- you look crazy with those elbow pads on," you said, stifling a laugh. suddenly a slap landed on your shoulder which you didn't see coming since jihyo had both of your eyes covered with the ice pack. "don't be annoying right now, y/n. you were the one who made me wear them anyways.."
she took the ice pack off your face to quickly slide the stupid pads off her arms, which she struggled to do. you helped her wiggle them off and threw them to the side as she pressed the cold pack back to your skin again.
"alright, alright," you surrendered. "wait. isn’t it me who’s supposed to be the one mad at you right now? given that you were the one who hit me in the face in the first place.."
your girlfriend paused and rolled her eyes at your smart comment, "why don't you just shut up and hold that to your busted ass face, how about that?" she said sarcastically, grabbing your hand to take over holding the pack against your head.
jihyo was pretending that she was okay by making jokes and getting annoyed at you, but in reality, you knew that she was beating herself up inside with the guilt of getting too carried away and hurting you. she's always wished that her competitiveness wasn't so intense since it could result in someone getting hurt just like you did.
besides the point, jihyo helped you stand up and grabbed your things and hers, sneaking away your keys from your bag's outer pocket with her empty hand.
she linked arms with you while your other arm was stuck covering the left side of your face with the freezing cold pack of blue gel. "let's go home and get you fixed up," jihyo said, reassuring you that she would make you feel all better. "oh, and i'm driving us home," she added, clearly not leaving any room for an argument.
"what? no. i'll drive," you argued anyways.
"y/n are you insane? you can't even see out of one eye right now, angel. i'm driving." jihyo made sure to emphasize the last part to you, unbeknownst to you as she already had your keys in her pocket.
the both of you continued arguing the whole way to the car, jihyo ultimately winning as she managed to get you towards the passenger side. but in the middle of your bickering, a familiar voice stopped you dead in your tracks.
"oh! isn't that?-"
it was the same friend who you ditched earlier with the excuse that you were "too tired" to join her and your other friends in a scrimmage today.
"hi, stacy!" jihyo greeted, waving at your friend enthusiastically.
you hid your face away from stacy as you heard her voice get closer, already expecting her to tease you about your injury.
"hellooo, y/n! what are you guys doing here this late?" she asked innocently, inching her neck downwards to make eye contact with you since you had your head held down. "and- what happened to your face?"
you sighed, knowing there was no escape from this now. "oh i just.. i…" you stuttered, looking to jihyo for help.
she picked up your signal immediately, "oh! that? y/n just fell and hit her head, that's all," jihyo laughed awkwardly.
"uh huhh. so this is why you were 'too tired' to scrim with us tonight then, huh?" stacy asked sarcastically, getting uncomfortably closer to your face.
while snickering, you slapped the gel pack on stacy's face, causing her to wipe her face and gasp out in shock.
"shut up," you teased, playfully pushing your friend away.
after a few minutes of catching up, you three eventually said your goodbyes and waited to see stacy drive off before turning to open the car door.
"wait- what did she mean by you were 'too tired?'" jihyo asked, pulling you back by your arm.
"oh, yeah. i told the group earlier that i was gonna take the day off since i was tired. we were supposed to play a practice match against some teams today, but, i got to spend my time doing something better instead," you said, smiling down at her and admiring the way the moonlight reflected against her glassy eyes, moving a sweaty strand of hair from her forehead.
jihyo couldn't help but pull your face towards hers and smash your lips together, completely forgetting about the fact that your whole face was in the early process of bruising. your eyes widened and you moaned painfully against her lips, attempting to pull away from the grip she had on both of your cheeks.
luckily, she realized it and released you, apologizing hectically once again. "oh shit- oh my god i forgot! i'm sorry baby, you were too cute and i couldn't help myself," she explained.
"haven't you hurt me enough today??" you asked in an annoyed tone. you quickly regretted it though once you saw the pouty look on her face and the way she said she didn't mean to in that little whiny voice.
"i knowww, i know. i'm just teasing you, love," you reassured her, pulling her sweaty body in for another hug.
"you know, maybe you should wear the elbow pads next time. seems like you need them more than i do," jihyo mumbled against your chest.
her comment made you scoff incredulously, "i-" but before you could even formulate a comeback, she opened the car door and forced you into the seat, blocking out whatever you managed to say with ''lalala" and shushes instead.
as she closed the door on you and made her way over to the driver's seat, you sulked into the leather cushion and chuckled at the way the tables turned on you.
turns out you were the one needing the protecting that night.

Part 1
Don't Call Me That - Part 2
Warnings: Smut, angst, lots of fluff (Not in that specific order lol), happy ending
Words: 4.2k
Melissa didn’t get any sleep last night. Everytime she closed her eyes, all she imagined was you kissing her, and nothing was on her mind except the thought of you saying you love her. You still love her, even after her breaking up with you.
Melissa walked into Abbott a little earlier, she needed extra caffeine considering she got 0 hours of sleep last night. She barely survived the day, not only from lack of sleep, but seeing you multiple times, and everytime all she thinks about is your lips on hers.
The next day she barely got any sleep, about 2 hours. The next day was the same. She thought that at least it was Friday and she could sleep in on Saturday. On Friday, everyone can clearly see the bags under her eyes as they’ve darkened over the week, and the way she can barely stay awake. Melissa thinks that it’s good her students have a test to do today and a book report coming up, and a couple other things she can get them to do instead of teaching.
At the end of the day, you go to walk to your car and you pass by Melissa’s classroom and you can see her asleep at her desk. You walk in and you see there’s no one else there, so you walk over to her and shake her a bit. “Melissa?” you say and she groans but doesn’t wake. “Melissa!” You just about yell and she opens her eyes but doesn’t move her head. You kneel down to her level and look at her. “Hey, saw you sleeping, you ok?” you ask her and she looks at you with the saddest eyes you’ve ever seen.
“Am I dreaming?” she asks you and you tilt your head.
“What makes you think you’re dreaming?” you ask her.
“Because you’re here, you wouldn’t talk to me otherwise. If I was awake then you would just avoid me because I’m an idiot.” she says and you look down and sigh.
“Ok, come on. I’ll drive you home and then you can continue dreaming ok?” you tell her and help guide her up from her chair. You take her purse with you and help guide her to your car, as well as buckle herself in as she didn’t have the strength to do it herself. “Why have you been so tired this week?” You ask as you get in the driver’s seat and start the car.
“Because I’m being haunted by my stupidity.” She says and you snort, you then back out of the parking spot and pull out of the parking lot.
“What stupidity have you done?” You ask her.
“Breaking up with my girlfriend, Y/n.” She tells you and you then realise she has no idea where she is and might still think she’s dreaming. You know you probably shouldn’t but this might be your chance to figure out what’s really going on with her.
“Why was that a stupid decision?”
“Because I still love her so much. All I think about when I try to sleep is her kissing me or her saying she loves me. I can’t do this anymore, I need her.” She says and a few tears slip. “I’ve barely slept these past 4 days, I probably got no more than 8 hours of sleep combined. I’ve barely eaten as well. I broke up with her 3 months ago and I was still able to sleep and eat, I don’t know what changed.” She says and you think about it, you should probably help her out.
“Do you feel guilty all of a sudden?” And she lets out an airy laugh.
“I’ve felt guilty ever since I thought I should break up with her?”
“Ok, so not that then. What about the fact that she told you she loves you?” You ask her and she doesn’t say anything. “Maybe you thought her feelings for you would disappear when you broke up with her cause you thought that she would just find someone else?” You tell her and she still doesn’t say anything. You thought maybe she fell asleep so you glance over at her and she’s still awake. “Melissa?” You say and she looks up at you. “Did you really break up with me because you thought I should be with someone else?” You ask her and she sighs.
“Ya.” she says and takes a deep breath. “I was holding you back from everything you’ve wanted so I let you go so I wouldn’t be in the way because I love you and I want you to be happy, even if I had to watch someone else make you happy and give you what you want.” she tells you and her eyes slowly close and she falls asleep.
The rest of the car ride, you think about what she said. You’re honestly surprised by what she said. She thought she was doing something selfless for you, but instead just ended up hurting you both, she never meant to hurt you so much. And now you see the toll it’s taken on her to stick to her decision to try and make you happy. She’s willing to sacrifice her happiness for yours, you never thought anyone would do that for you.
As soon as you pull into her driveway, you gently wake her up. “Come on Melissa, you’re home, we should gotta get you to your bed and you can sleep comfortably, ok?” You tell her and she nods. She unbuckles herself but can’t open the door fully so you do that for her. You unlock her door with her key and you help bring her inside. You set her keys and purse at the door and you close and lock her door while she attempts to take her shoes off. You end up helping her with her shoes when she falls down and you help her back up and to her room. She falls on the bed when you get there and then you tuck her in, you go to leave after but she grabs your arm and you turn to face her.
“Will you stay with me?” She asks softly and you sigh.
“Ok, but only until you fall asleep.” You tell her and she nods. You get on the bed but stay on the covers instead of under and she wraps an arm around you. You admit that you do miss this and you miss her and her craziness. You turn around to face her and she’s still awake and looking at you.
“I do want you back, y/n.” She tells you and strokes your hair.
“What’s stopping you?” You ask her and she yawns and is slowly closing her eyes.
“The fact that you won’t be happy with me.” She says and falls asleep. You stay looking at her stunned and go over everything she’s told you, thinking that you weren’t you or she was dreaming. You then slowly crawl out from her hold on you and you replace it with a pillow so she doesn’t wake up.
A few hours later Melissa wakes up. She opens her eyes and realises she’s in her bed and has no idea what happened this week that well as she’s been so tired that the whole week has been a blur. She looks at her phone and sees that it’s 5:43pm and it’s Friday. She gets out of bed and hears some noises downstairs, she then grabs her bat and carefully goes downstairs. She gets to the middle of the stair when she sees you on the couch watching tv and she tilts her head and stares for a few seconds. She then continues down the stairs and you look over at her and chuckle.
“Were you planning on hitting me with a bat? You were friendlier when you were falling in and out of consciousness.” You tease her and she looks confused. “Do you remember anything from the end of the day to how you got home?” You ask her and she stares at you then shakes her head. “I found you asleep at your desk and then I drove you home. If you want I can drive you to the school parking lot to get your car and then go home.” You tell her, you don’t want to scare her if what she said while on the verge of sleep was true.
“You drove me home?” She tells you and you nod. “W-why?”
“Because I want to make sure you didn’t fall asleep at the wheel or stay at school overnight.” You simply say. “I bet you’re hungry since you also haven’t been eating, so I made you some mac n’ cheese.” You tell her and you go and get it.
“How do you know I haven’t been eating?” She asks when you reappear with a bowl.
“Cause you told me.” You tell her when you hand it to her and sit back on the couch. “Come sit.” You say as you pat the couch cushion.
“I wouldn’t tell anyone that.” She tells you as she obeys and goes to sit beside you on the couch.
“Wow you really don’t remember anything you told me.” You say and she freezes as she was about to take a bite.
“What do you mean?” She asks and takes a bite of the food.
“I mean we had a whole conversation while you kept falling asleep. In your classroom, my car and here, at your house.”
“What did I tell you?” She asks and prepares for the worst.
“Now I don’t want you to get freaked out ok? Cause you had no idea where you were or who I really was.” You tell her and that makes her feel worse.
“Y/n. What did I tell you.”
“You told me that you still love and miss me and you want me back.” You say and her eyes go wide. “You also told me the whole reason you let me go.” You add and she drops her fork. “And why you haven’t been sleeping, and you confessed that you’ve also barely ate in the past 4 days.” You finish and she’s just staring at you. After about 10 seconds she gets up and walks to the kitchen with her mac n’ cheese and you follow after her. She puts the bowl on the counter without much thought and she puts her hands in her hair. “Melissa?” You say to get her attention and she turns around looking scared and concerned. “What’s going on with you?”
“With me? It’s the fact that you weren’t supposed to know anything that I told you.” She tells you and she’s breathing hard like she’s on the verge of either a breakdown or lots of tears.
“Why? Because I’m just supposed to be happy with someone else as you suffer?” You tell her.
“YES!” She shouts and then looks surprised when she catches up with what you told her and what she confessed. “Since I already told you then I might as well say it. All those things that you want, you won’t get with me. But you will with someone else, someone else who wants to get married, have a family with you, wants to go out and be young and stupid with you. I don’t want those things anymore, and yes I do love you very much and do want you back. But I’m willing to put aside my happiness, if it means you get everything you want.” She tells you and you burst into tears, she immediately wraps her arms around you and hugs you. Your knees buckle and she guides you both to the floor gently and she keeps her arms around you the whole time. When you get to the floor, you place your head on her chest and she brings a hand to your head and strokes it soothingly.
You slow your crying down and sniffle a few times before you speak. “I don’t deserve you. You’re willing to give me everything at the expense of your own happiness. I really don’t deserve you.” You tell her.
“No, it’s me who doesn’t deserve you. You have been the bestest friend to me for 2 years before we got together, and after we got together you have shown me the best of love and care that I could ever ask for.” She tells you, and you look up at her and immediately kiss her. She automatically kisses you back before she has time to think. Once her brain catches up to what she’s doing, she doesn’t have the willpower to pull away, she used it all trying to stay away from you. Before she can register what she’s doing, she leans forward, bringing you back until you hit the floor of the kitchen. You make out on the kitchen floor for a good minute until you both pull away for air and you look at each other. Melissa suddenly is aware of what she did and she gets up before you could stop her and she scurries to the living room, you run after her.
“Melissa, would you stop running away from me!” You tell her and she’s turned away from you with her head down.
“You should leave y/n.” Is all she says and you walk up to her and spin her around.
“If you want me to leave then tell me while looking at me.” You say and she raises her eyes to your face and she’s crying.
“I can’t.” She says and you put your hands on her cheeks and wipe the tears away.
“Melissa, I want to be with you. If being with you means that I don’t get married, have kids or go to the bar every now and then with you then so be it. Because I’m only wanting to marry the right person, and that person is you. So if I’m with you or not, I’m not getting married. I don’t need kids to feel fulfilled, or to be able to say I have a family. I mean we can always get a pet like a dog, but you’re all the family I need. And I can go to the bars with my friends and be young and stupid with them from time to time if I really want.” You tell her and she starts crying even more.
“You shouldn’t have to sacrifice everything just to be with me.”
“Melissa, it’s not a sacrifice if what I’m getting is a life with you.” You tell her and you kiss her. Melissa immediately pulls back and looks at you, her hands on your head.
“Are you sure? You have to be 100% sure y/n.” She tells you and you think it over for all of 2 seconds and you nod your head.
“I’m 100% sure, I want to be with you Melissa.” You tell her and she smiles.
“I want to be with you too.” She says and this time she goes to kiss you. The kiss deepens and you start putting your hands all over her and you think you want to touch her skin and she’s wearing too much clothes, so you put your hands under her shirt. Melissa immediately pulls her shirt off so you can touch her and you unclip her bra and take it off. She’s always been the dominant one but at this moment, all you want to do is kiss her all over, so you walk forward until her back hits a wall and you go down to her neck and kiss and suck all over and she’s gasping under you. You then travel down to her chest and leave kisses all over until you attach your mouth to her nipples and start to suck and lick them.
She’s bucking her hips under you and you know she’s not far away from pulling all her clothes off herself and guiding you inside of her. You’re working on her second nipple when she pushes you off and guides you to your knees. You go immediately into submissive like always and you pull her pants and underwear off. Melissa leans back against the wall and spreads her legs a little further so you can put your mouth there.
You attach your mouth to her clit and she starts bucking her hips right away and you pin her to the wall. Her hands go to your hair and she’s gasping and moaning at your touch. “Oh god, Y/n, that feels so good baby.” She says and when you know she’s getting close, you pull away and stand up. You push your body into hers and immediately insert two fingers in her and put your thumb on her clit. “God Y/N, I missed you so much.” She says and kisses you. She’s so close as she starts shaking but she doesn’t pull away from your lips like she usually does, you aren’t complaining though, you missed her as well and you’re enjoying kissing her again.
She comes not long after she starts shaking but you don’t stop, you keep fingering her and circling her clit and she lets out a high pitched gasp. “Oh god baby, yes, omg, don’t stop.” She says as she pulls away from your lips and gives into the over sensitivity.
She comes again not too long after the first and then you withdraw your fingers and put them in your mouth to lick them. She looks at you as you lick your fingers and you moan and that’s when she takes action. She picks you up and brings you to the couch, you’re so glad that she decided to remove the plastic as this wouldn’t be comfortable. She put you so you’re sitting in the middle with your back resting on the back of the couch. She starts kissing and sucking your neck and pulls your shirt off. She unclips your bra and yanks it off right after then immediately brings her mouth to a nipple. You’re moaning and gasping under her and she smiles as she’s so happy that she’s back with you, she’s fully aware of how lucky she is right now and she won’t take it for granted. She takes more time on your nipples then she usually does and your patience is running thin as you’re dripping wet and you have a strong ache between your legs.
“Melissa, please, I need you inside of me, please.” You tell her and she pulls back from your chest and smiles at you. She gives a quick kiss on your lips then leaves a trail of kisses from your chest all the way to the top of your pants. She quickly removes your pants and underwear, spreads your legs, leaves a few kisses on each thigh and then attaches her mouth to your entrance. You gasp as soon as her hot wet tongue is where you need her the most and she starts moving her tongue all over your entrance before entering her tongue in you. You moan as she starts sliding her tongue in and out of you and you're holding onto her hair for dear life. You start grinding into her mouth to try and get more friction so you can come and for once she lets you keep doing it, normally she would pin you down when you start grinding. Even in the middle of amazing pleasure, that fact is not lost on you, you notice it immediately then start to think of everything else she’s done differently.
She kept kissing you when she was about to come and even when she came, when she usually pulls away as you love to hear her when she comes. She let you keep fingering her after she came and it seemed like she needed it as well, she only lets you make her come once as she usually ends up grinding your thigh when fingering you as she loves to watch you and it turns her on. She spent more time on your nipples then she usually does, to the point that you begged her to continue, and now letting you grind against her mouth. You put it all together and came to the conclusion, she’s letting you do whatever you want and making sure you feel good as she feels guilty. You reluctantly pull her mouth away and she looks at you confused,
“What is it baby?” She asks and her lips and chin is covered in your juices.
“Stop doing things differently, you don’t have to feel guilty ok. I feel really special about why you did what you did. No one has ever been willing to sacrifice their own happiness for mine.” You tell her and she smiles shyly.
“Of course, I’d do anything for you.” She tells you and you lean in closer to her.
“Then stop fucking me differently and start being yourself again.” You tell her and something flickers in her eyes before she pushes your head back to lean on the back of the couch then dives down to your clit and starts licking and sucking on it. Your fingers are still in her hair and you start grinding against her again, but this time she does pin your hips down. Then she does something she’s never done before, she snakes her hands around your hips and hooks her hands on your ass then pulls you up a bit and that gives her a perfect angle with your clit and you gasp her name out as you come.
She then immediately comes up and positions herself so her clit is on your thigh and she slides a finger in you and you moan as she starts sliding it in and out of you slowly. She then adds two more fingers and starts going faster while her thumb is on your clit and she brings her mouth near your ear.
“Unfortunately the strap is upstairs and I don’t have the patience to go get it, so we’ll have to make do with my fingers.” she says then adds a fourth and you cry out.
“OH MY GOD!!” You cry out as she fills you up with her fingers then her mouth goes to your neck and so much pleasure is coursing through you right now and you feel like moving but her grinding on your thigh is preventing you from doing that. So you do something else that will help stabilise you, you put your hands on her boobs and squeeze them. You don’t feel like that’s enough so you wrap an arm around her back and pull her into you more.
“Ooo” She says as she’s caught off guard by your actions. You come again about 5 seconds later and she doesn’t stop, she just keeps going until you come again and again and then you pull her away.
“Melissa, I can’t take anymore.” You tell her and she nods and gently pulls each finger out at a time.
“Sorry I got lost in the moment.” She tells you and you smile but your body is shaking from the amount of times you came. She notices and then goes to your side and brings you both to lay down while she cuddles you to give your body the chance to calm down. You turn around in her arms then nuzzle your head on her neck and chest and she holds you tighter. “It’s ok baby, I got you, and I don’t plan on going anywhere again.” She tells you and you only nod as you’re falling asleep. She notices that you fell asleep and she gently strokes your hair. “I promise I won’t leave you again.” She whispers to you. “I won’t make that mistake again.” She says and presses a kiss to your forehead.
*3 years later*
You and Melissa are both standing in front of the house as you unlock it then Melissa grabs your waist before you walk in and she pushes the door open.
“What are you doing Mel?” You ask her as you’re smiling at her and she smiles at you.
“Well shouldn’t I carry my bride across the threshold?” She asks you and then picks you up bridal style and you let out a small squeal and then she carries you inside then gently puts you down. She wraps her arms around your waist and you lean into her touch and she puts lays her chin on your shoulder. You both then hold out your left hands and smile at the ring on both your third finger.
Melissa kisses your neck and then your puppy comes running in and Kristen Marie running after her. You and Melissa decided to adopt a little puppy a few months ago and you both are really happy with your lives now. Melissa re-thought her decision about getting married and proposed to you a year and a half ago, much to your surprise. Then you both agreed on adopting a dog and Melissa named her Bella. Kristen Marie takes Bella out one more time before leaving her with you guys.
“Are you still alright with the fact that we got married?” You ask her.
“Oh, it’s more than alright baby. Cause I got to marry you, my happily ever after.” She tells you and you both kiss.

Summary: Between your home life and work, you just can’t catch a break. Especially after you draw the ire of your boss.
Characters: Lloyd Hansen ft. Pete Brenner
Note: The reblogs and my comments await your wrath.
As per usual, I humbly request your thoughts! Reblogs are always appreciated and welcomed, not only do I see them easier but it lets other people see my work. I will do my best to answer all I can. I’m trying to get better at keeping up so thanks everyone for staying with me.
Your feedback will help in this and future works (and WiPs, I haven’t forgotten those!)
I love you all immensely. Take care. 💖
Your turn to present comes and you stand up at the board, your budget projected as the bulb nearly blinds you. You point to the numbers and the accompanying graphs, going over each as best as you can. Your life might be an utter and complete mess but you know numbers. Your job is simple as simple gets and you can go over this ad nauseam.
Still, your focus is splintered as you find yourself stalling here and there. Each time you meet Mr Hansen's sparkling blue eyes, you nearly swallow your own tongue. You can't help but think of what you did in his office. Of what Pete would say when found out. And he will because you've never been a good liar and this isn't a secret you can keep. You just don't know how to say it.
He won't care that you were in a bind, that you were disgusted by yourself, that you didn't want to do it. You still did it. You betrayed your marriage. Even if it is a bit rocky, you made a vow. Despite the friction, you love Pete. You wouldn't have stuck around this long otherwise. It's just a rocky patch. Or it was, until this.
Your eyes linger on Hansen as he leans back in his chair and lets his gaze drift towards his lap. You gulp and look to the board, pointing out the projection as you finish up. You wallow in a momentary silence before you retreat and reclaim your seat at the conference table. You were absolutely certain to be as far from him as possible, though that was easy as all the executives cluster together.
You keep your attention at the front of the room. These things are always dull. You're not high up enough to care about more than your own piece in the puzzle. You don't make the big decisions, you just show what's there.
You sip from your cold coffee. You feel your phone vibrating in your back pocket. Not now. You ignore it and tap your fingers on the table.
You glance around and once more find Hansen’s attention on you. He should be more concerned with the marketing presentation going on. You hide any tinge of emotion; irritation, confusion, humiliation, a peer up at the front.
The meeting ends just as you catch yourself nodding off. You shuffle out with the rest of the bodies and find your desk, nearly keeling over as you sit. You got what, an hour's sleep. You don't know if you can make it through.
Your phone goes off again. Great, what is it now? You really can't handle anything else today. Your morning has already drained you of everything you have left.
Shit, it's the school. You get up and answer your phone, marching between desks to find a quiet place. You dip down towards an empty meeting room and shut yourself in. The secretary tells you Malik got sick in gym class. Today? You sigh and promise you'll be there as soon as you can.
You put your hand to your forehead and yawn as you hang up. If you have any more caffeine, you're going to explode. You just need to get through it. You always do. Not for you, for the kids. That's what it's about.
You turn and find the door open, a figure against the frame. You could like and say you're surprised but you know Mr. Hansen isn't the type to let you sink in shame. He wants to rub it in.
"You know, I didn't think witches were real but you got magic hands, toots--"
"Sir," you fight to keep your voice even, "I just got a call from my kids' school--"
"Ew, let's not with the kids," he flicks his fingers dismissively, "I'm talking about us."
"Us?" You frown, "sir, please, I have to--"
"That husband of yours, he's lucky. Is that from practice or are you just that desperate to get your hands on some prime meat?"
You give him a look, the kind you give when you're trying not to yell. As a point, you don't raise your voice. He gives a shiver as if shaking off a chill.
"I'm teasing. I'm just... let's turn this thing around, honey. You got your budget, I got... off. And now we can get along. So, let me be a nice guy and say, go, get your kid, be a good mommy, and be back bright and early tomorrow."
You stutter. You don't quite believe him. It feels like a test. A trap. He smirks and lets his hand wander down his stomach. He grips himself through his pants.
"Unless, you want more--"
"I really have to go," you squeeze your phone, "my son--"
"Alright, alright, ugh, boring," he sneers, "I don't wanna hear about the kids."
"Um, okay," you near him, "thank you, Mr. Hansen."
"Yeah yeah," he backs out of the doorway, "don't stress it." He steps aside as you go into the hallway, "unclench a little."
As you turn, you stumble, a sudden clap against your ass throwing you off balance. You steady yourself but don't look back as he retracts his hand. Your eyes are wide, your steps stiff and stunted as you tell yourself to just keep going.
Shit, this is a problem.
Your job is stressful enough. The last thing you ever wanted was to be Hansen’s next target. It’s not something you ever worried about. You’re too old, too flabby, and too worn out. When he realises that, he’ll be back to the likes of Kendra. You don’t know who you should pity more; yourself or her.
You don't have capacity right now. One thing at a time. Get Malik home, then you can figure out how exactly your life is going to implode.
🗄️
You get Malik on the couch, bundled up watching his favourite cartoons, as you sit and stare at your phone. You know that even if you called, Pete wouldn't pick up. He's too busy for you. Still, your anxiety eats away at you and makes you impatient. You can't even enjoy the time away from the office.
You make some soup once your son's stomach settles but yours is in worse shape. You don't have an appetite, you're restless and exhausted. You're in pieces.
You know you can't go back and change things. Hell, you couldn't have done anything different. You have a mortgage, insurance, and children to look after. You can't throw it all away on one man's ego.
Still, you did something wrong. Something unforgivable. If you think Pete hates you now, he's going to despise you. And you might just lose everything anyway.
You sit and bend over, holding your head. God, you're stupid and weak and awful. You chose this, a family, a man who doesn't care, and a job that gives you nothing but stress. You could've had a better life and never inflicted your mistake on anyone else.
"Mommy," Malik taps your shoulder, startling so you sit up too fast, nearly falling out of the chair, "mommy, the stove."
You look over at the pot boils over, hissing and bubbling. Great, now you've burnt the chicken noodle. You get up and quickly flip off the burner and move the pot to the next one.
"How about some vegetable soup, huh?" You offer, "sorry, Mal."
"Are you okay, mommy?" He pouts as he stands in his dinosaur pajamas.
"Yeah, yeah, mom's just tired," you answer, "go sit down. I'll clean this up. Then it should be time to go pick up Simone."
He mumbles and leaves you. You look at the burnt soup, curdled and filmy and black around the edges. Usually, you just want Pete home but tonight, you don't know what you're going to do when he gets in. You can be sure it'll be a sleepless night.
🗄️
You spend the evening avoiding your phone. It's easy. You sit and help Simone with her homework as Malik colours at the other side of the table. After dinner you get them washed up and in their pajamas in time for bed.
You can’t help but try to suck up every second. You don’t want to lose this. It can be hard, Pete’s long hours, your sore hips, the children’s antics. It can be utterly defeating but you don’t want to lose it all. Maybe you should’ve tried sooner to fix things, maybe if you did, Pete might believe you didn’t want to do what you did.
Once the kids are asleep, you're left to yourself but not really. You clean the kitchen and get lunches packed for the next day. You switch the laundry before you head up to bed but leave the light on as you lay down.
It’s a mirror of the night before, except you’re not the one with your tail between your legs. Pete gets home as late as ever. You want to be mad that he's only there on weekends to see the kids. Yet, you don't see much of him then either.
He comes upstairs, pushing back his hair as he enters, blanching as he sees you awake. His face falls and he runs his fingers around his stubbly lips. You don't say anything as he loosens his tie and sighs.
"Please, I don't wanna argue tonight," he says as he sheds his blazer, "it's been a long day."
"Alright," you agree, fighting not to squirm as your stomach flips. "But… I wanna talk about something."
"Look, we're almost there. The hard part's almost over," he explains as he unbuttons his shirt, "we're about to hit oil with this thing."
"I know, but… there's something we need to talk about–"
He closes his eyes and hangs his head back as he peels off his shirt. He's in good shape still. You suppose making your own hours gives you a lot of time for the gym.
"Can I take a shower first?" He huffs.
"Sure," you murmur. He's trying to wait you out, hoping you fall asleep before he's done. "Take a shower."
His brows rise and fall and he turns away as he digs in his pocket. He pulls out his phone and plugs it in, leaving it face down on the dresser. He unclasps the gold chain around his wrist and puts it in the jewelry tray with his watch. You watch his hands.
"Where's your ring?" You ask as you focus on his fingers.
"Oh, uh, fuck," he sniffs, "must've left it in my gym bag again."
"Mmm," you him and don't comment further.
You look down at your own band, twisting it on your finger as your inside rot with guilt. You have to face this. You have to be honest. As much as it hurts you. As much as it'll hurt you.
He moves around the room. He misses the hamper again, this time his underwear fall on the floor. You want to cry as more than just the weight of your confession crushes you. It’s all of it. The years of distance between you, the memory of good days far behind, what you’ll never have again.
The bathroom door shuts and you look up again. You get up, needing to walk off the excess energy. You pace in circles and wring your hands. You want to rehearse what you should say but you got nothing.
You hear the subtle buzz and pause. You go back to the bed and take your phone off the night table. Nothing. Not even a notification for that dumb matching game you played once while waiting at the doctor's office.
You set it back down and go back to your aimless circling. You hear it again and again. It's annoying. Tweaking your already addled nerves.
You look around and see Pete's phone, the edges limned in the glow of the overturned screen. You cross the room and flip it over to turn the volume down. You stop as the newest message pops across the top.
'Hey babe, can't wait for Saturday. Bikini or no suit at all?'
You read it once, twice, several times before your shock fully sets in. What? Your heart drops as you put his phone back as you found it and back away.
You sit on the bed and stare at the bathroom door. Things can always get worse, that's your bitter mantra. You swallow as your eyes brim with tears and your throat locks up. You listen to the showerhead buzz.
You were prepared to be the bad guy. To lay yourself bare and plead mercy. You psyched yourself up to face the music but you're unprepared for this.
You get up and turn off the lamp. You get into bed and face away from the bathroom, just like most nights. You pull the blanket to your shoulders and close your eyes. You measure your breaths to keep from crying. Once you start, you won't be able to stop.
When Pete finishes, you're still awake. Sleep? That's a joke. You just lay there and listen to him move around. When he comes to bed, he doesn't try to talk to you or wake you up.
You open your eyes and see the glow of his phone outlining your silhouette against the wall. You gulp, careful not to give yourself away. He groans and he types away on his phone. Right beside you… like you don't exist. You're just an afterthought for him. Just like your vows. Just like the kids.
As low as you thought you were that morning, you’ve sunk even further. Would he even care if he knew? You’re so unlovable, he probably wouldn’t even believe another man would let you touch them.

lemme rant rq cause this is my diary
so i went to the dr with my mom cause i had the flu (not anymore, but lowk it made me have 0 APPETITE so f@sting during it was easy) but anyway, since my last dr appointment which was over the summer ish so august i think, i lost around 7lbs. (i was wearing layers, water loaded + shoes so def more, probably around 10-15lbs but idrk cause my scale LOVES to change my weight all the time. and my mom ofc noticed (the weight loss in the chart since august) but i blamed it on the flu easy peasy and she’s been trying to buy me snacks and make me eat more which is annoying but she’s trying to be a mom so it’s okay. also im not sure if it’s the 3d brain but i feel like she’s trying to fatten me but i can’t really tell? like she’s offering food more, or maybe she’s not idk. it is now 1:44am, yesterday i fainted a bit so i treated it as a break and ate “normally” fainting + dizziness has gone down and now i feel like a failure, but that’s okay cause today is a new day. also does anyone else hallucinate after long periods of fasting? maybe it’s the sleep deprivation but i genuinely start seeing stuff and it’s lowk scary but maybe that’s another issue, anyway i won’t have access to food from now(1:44)-3pm so the i just have to survive from 3-10pm and that’s a successful day + thinking like that helps me sm (like every hour of fasting counts) right now im having a celsius (caffeine my beloved appetite suppressant) and im pulling an all nighter and hopefully will crash at 3ish so i sleep most of the day to prevent boredom eating and honestly fasting is just easy if you distract yourself, i think the main issue with me and fasting is i get bored sooooo easily and then eat, not even cause im hungry js bored tbh, but water and games help that. idek what im saying. ugh my insomnia gets so bad when im restricting. also another thing i think th1nspo and m3anspo genuinely do NOY work for me, idk why. like my main motivation is myself cause really im the only one who knows everything i want changed about my body and speaking of omg i have to go the beach on my birthday trip im so scared brooo. well idk if i have to go but i think my family is going and we’ll see tbh, it’s like mid decemeber so this month i genuinely need to lock in like i keep on fasting but then having to break it around 48hrs and it’s annoying, okay THIS fast i won’t stop (and will actually have vitamins and whatnot) also vitamin recs? i feel like the vitamins i take while fasting do not do anything tbh, anddd i have been rambling but it’s giving me smth to do so love u all stay safe ! ONE MORE THING LMAOO green tea is so good and has helped my bloating sm everyone go make a tea rn (it also has caffeine in it) also caffeine helps constipation (at least for me) for all the 4n4s who struggle with that! and green tea is like a subtle laxative, CELSIUS is like a full on one, i drank one a while ago but haven’t had any…bowel movement, but to be fair i did poop this evening and wow i sharing SO much information 😻 ! but yeah it’s way better than actual lax imo, lax makes my stomach hurt ALL day but maybe it’s the kind? I’ve only ever used ducloax or smth like that and it hurts so much omg i might just never take them again, im gonna finish this celsius then make some green tea i wonder how okay anyway
tldr: idek where to start

I looked at your posts under "Motivation" from the Masterlist, and was wondering if you have anything on a smaller scale? I have generic motivation to write, but I struggle with on a day-to-day basis. Meaning, I do want to write, but it takes a long time for me to "wake up" properly and get in the proper mood. I often end up getting really into it very late into the evening, and it's messing with my sleep routine. I've tried simple things like eating a good breakfast and having water and caffeine but I remain sluggish for over 50% of the day. It might be more of a mental/physical issue and not just writing, but I figured I'd give it a try. I also have Autism and ADHD so I think you might be a bit familiar?
To summarise, my issue is just my mind and body taking too long to wake up and get into the mood/mindset for writing, and it's seriously messing up my sleep schedule.
Taking Too Long to Get into Writing Mode Each Day
The first thing I think you should try is to break the cycle... give yourself a week or so break from trying to write, and make sure you're getting to bed at a time that allows you the amount of sleep that you need to feel rested.
Once you've done that and caught up on your sleep for a week or so, see if you're still struggling with taking a long time to wake up. There are things you can try, like starting off your day with a walk or other exercise, but if you still find yourself taking all day to wake up, I think that's definitely worth talking to a doctor about. Fatigue can be caused by any number of things, including medication and minor medical issues, so getting that checked out could bring you to a solution that helps you sleep better, feel more rested in the morning, and help you wake up faster.
Something else: if you always wait until you're feeling 100% and in the proper mood to write, you're never going to write.
Very, very few writers would tell you they wake up every day fully rested, physically and mentally tip-top, and feeling geared up to get to writing. Writers, most of the time, are people who are juggling writing with jobs, families, school, care giving... and sometimes all of the above. I have friends who write bleary-eyed with dried spit-up on their shirts while their babies take painfully brief naps. I have friends who work fifty hours a week, and only write on the weekends or the occasional day off. I have friends who write on their phones when they're sitting in their care in the school pick-up line between work and four hours of after school activities. I have friends with chronic illness, who write on the good days, and dream about writing on the bad days.
The point is, if you truly want to write, you'll find a way to make it work. Even if it's only fifteen minutes a night before you go to bed, if that's what works for you, that's what works for you.
And sometimes, it's really less about being in the proper mood and more about just getting your but into the seat, doing the hard work, and making it a habit, or as much of one as you're able to have. I'm almost never in the proper mood to write, and I struggle with pretty bad fatigue a lot. But even on the days when I'd rather do literally anything else, I sit down and I do what I can. Some days that might be a sentence or two. Some days it might be half a chapter. On really rare days, it might be hundreds of words. And then, on some days, I stare at the screen for ten minutes and say, "Nope!" But the point is I try, every day--or as often as possible--and it is the very act of forcing my butt into the chair on those days that allows me to get the words out. If I waited until I felt great or was in the right mood, I'd never get anything written. ♥

Puppy Love- Yunho x Female!Barista!Reader
I haven't forgotten about all my coffee shop stories 😁😁😁 Yunho in his ‘you like jazz?’ era
Word Count: 3536 | Coffee Shop, Fluff | Warnings: too dang fluffy 😝
Yunho’s dream had finally come true. A dog café had opened up within walking distance of work. What a time to be alive! What a lucky walk of the streets on his break, unsure how to spend his rare free time once he had it. Using it for an activity seemed simultaneously gratifying and overwhelming. Time to burn some energy off with some very good boys and girls instead! Some caffeine might also reverse-jitter him back into productivity…or at least into the right headspace to squeeze in an episode of that show he needed to finish.
Beneath an awning of striped lime green and white awaited the door to Leash Love Latte, the lovely windowed building decorated with paint-on art of joyous pups of all breeds, two of which held mugs and one of which was about to devour a bone-topped cupcake. Yunho couldn't help but smile as his eyes scanned the glass, jumping a bit at the noise when he opened the door, but the startlement easily fell into a laugh as he opened the security door once the front one was closed and was met with a barrage of dogs.
"Oh, hi," he giggled as one little papillon practically climbed up his leg, bending down to scoop her up into his arms. Flipping her collar tag, he saw it read 눈. A name meaning Snow made sense- she was a ball of pure white fluff after all.
Carrying her up to the counter, Yunho was met with the sight of an extremely nimble barista practically skating across the café floor to slide a pastry onto the counter and call out its owner’s name, then turn on her heels to catch a drink from the older man who held it out to her and repeat the process. Once that was done, she twirled around to face the counter.
“Sorry about that, just had an order to finish up,” she paused, taking a couple breaths and getting her hair back into place, smile never leaving her face, “oh, Nunie, are you making friends?” Her gaze had dropped to the sweet pup in Yunho’s arms, the nickname and her evident familiarity with the café dogs warming his heart.
“Yep," he agreed with a chuckle, holding her up a bit higher with fatherly pride despite their very recent meeting, "I think she'd have made a ladder of me if she could."
"Well, you are pretty tall," the girl joked.
"I guess that's true! So, what do you recommend here?"
She grinned. "Dog or drink?"
"Drink," Yunho responded, "I don't think I'll get away with any cheating today."
"How does a peanut butter mocha sound?"
"Great," he replied, "I've never had one before!"
Plucking a solid pink, paw-print-dotted mug from some unseen counter alcove, the barista grinned. "It's sort of my specialty."
"She's always trying to hock those!" The older man called out from deeper in the kitchen, offering a devilish grin.
"Hey! At least I have a specialty!" She called back, smiling when he shouted that she was a better barista than him and sliding the mug down the slick metal counter surface before turning back to Yunho. "Sorry, that's my uncle. He's a bit of a jokester. Your name?”
"Yunho. And that's ok. I can see how well you guys get along. So this is a family business, then?"
"Yep," she nodded, "everything I do, I try to do with my family."
Something about those simple words touched Yunho's heart, throwing its beat off even as he lowered himself into a bench, stroking his snowy new friend and laughing as a brown and white Jack Russel terrier and a little grey mutt with a folded ear scrambled up to fill his lap all the way. His gaze darted between them and the young lady behind the counter as she operated all the kitchenware with focused eyes and lightly smiling lips.
This place really was heaven.
~
"Here you go!"
Yunho's attention snapped up from the mutt, Sammy, to meet the eyes of the girl. He hadn't really paid attention to the color of them before, but the lime-and-pink shaded light dangling above his table must have somehow brought it out as she set his mug in front of him a respectable distance from the squirming dogs piled upon his lap.
"What was your name again?" Yunho blurted out before he could help it.
"(y/n)."
"(y/n)," he repeated with a smile, "wonderful. I just felt like I needed to have a name to go with the face."
Her eyes remained on him, though the smile on her face did not fade. Sammy licked at her sleeve, which only made it grow wider, her nose crinkling a bit. A wave of awkwardness crashed over Yunho.
"So, (y/n), you must really like peanut butter." That sounded much better in his head.
She just giggled. “I love it! I was eating a peanut butter cup when I got the idea for the drink.”
“That’s so cool! I have a friend who cooks and that seems hard, let alone designing something new, like I can’t even imagine.”
(y/n) waved a hand before reaching it back down to pet a fluffy spotted Australian shepherd that ran by her feet. “Oh, I bet you could come up with something,” she told him with a smile.
Yunho racked his brain, but beneath the tantalizing chocolate-peanut-butter-coffee-with-a-hint-of-espresso smell, the light of that obnoxiously cute lamp, the warm, wiggling puppy pile on his lap, and the faint, anticipatory flutter of the girl’s eyelashes, not much was floating up coherently. “I can’t think of anything that would be good in coffee,” he finally admitted.
“What about something that would be bad in coffee?”
“All my brain was giving me was fruit loops, so I’d say that.”
(y/n) gave a humored wince. “Ooh, yeah. Though that would make a good milk latte or shake! I could totally work with that!” And with that, she made another of her skate-like drifts across the shop, dodging three dogs darting at her feet as she fell back behind the counter, pulling out a couple appliances and taking notes like a mad scientist.
Well, that wasn’t too bad a response to fruit loops of all things. Patting Sammy, Yunho pulled his steaming mug to his lips, barely feeling the cup’s heat above that in his own sheepish cheeks.
~
A few days after his Leash Love Latte trip, Yunho was out for a walk to clear his head after a very early morning of choreography practice, having rinsed himself off and wanted nothing more than to get out into the sun and breeze, practically melting the industrial lighting out of his skin. Cleansing the sweat off had only been step one.
Veering off the paved walking trail, Yunho crossed over the inclination of a grassy green hill, wandering over the great emerald expanse and dodging the occasional frisbee. Ducking under one that was thrown high enough, even.
The small amount of skin exposed by his t-shirt warmed pleasantly in the moderate day's air as he passed an area surrounded by metal gating that bore a few tied-on signs. Within it, dogs of varying sizes tore across the grass, played tug-of-war, and ran to their owners with new friends in tow. As he got closer, he noticed that one of those owners had a haircut that looked quite familiar, a smile Yunho felt like he’d just been graced with.
It was (y/n)! Carefully undoing the safety gate with a deft motion of his fingers, he lifted the release and entered, immediately dodging dogs as he ran a hand through his hair hoping he’d straightened it. His other hand was already getting thoroughly sniffed, a few licks coming to it before he reclaimed it, giving a bulldog and a border collie some pats as he milled through the park. A mutt- maybe half terrier- ran up to him snuffling with a squeaky toy in its jaws, so Yunho threw it, laughing as it turned into a little spotted streak of lightning. Hopefully its owner was young. And then, turning on his heels, he faced you.
“Oh, hey, (y/n), right?” He leaned forward, resting a hand as casually as he could atop the bench a few feet from him, mock-guessing your name like it hadn’t made a few runs through his head of late. “Didn’t see you there. I’m-”
“Yunho from the café. Fruit loops guy.”
Fruit loops guy. “Yep, that’s me.” He put a hand to his chest. “Fruit loops guy.”
“I’ve been tinkering around with stuff and that idea is something that we might be adding to the menu if my uncle lets me!” She added, grinning as a pup Yunho recognized as Sammy ran up to her, leaning into her offered pets.
“Really? That’s great!”
“Yeah! Should I name it after you?”
“The Yunho? Might confuse some people-”
(y/n) chuckled, wrapping her arms around Sammy to pull him onto her lap. “Yunho, I was kidding.”
“Oh, right, yeah, I knew that. So, uh, taking Sammy to the dog park?”
“Yep,” she nodded, smiling, “I try to take all the adoptables out on an alternating schedule.”
“Oh,” Yunho tilted his head in thought, “the Leash Love Latte dogs are for adoption?”
“Indeed they are. The goal is people live them so much they want to take them home!”
“Guess then they’d really need a doggy bag,” he quipped.
(y/n)’s eyes widened as she burst out with a laugh. “Ok, that’s so perfect, mind if I steal that?”
“Be my guest.”
“I’ll try my best to credit you where I can. Hey, wanna play frisbee with Sammy? It’s practically as big as him, but he loves it.”
Was there even a question? “Of course! Come on, Sammy, let’s go!”
And with that, they both pushed off their respective bench seat and lean, jogging deeper into the park’s grass and dodging a fire hydrant in the ground as they took turns tossing the blue plastic disc (y/n) had ready in her backpack.
~
“Hey, remember the guy who inspired my fruit loops latte?” You called back into the kitchen as you refilled the coffee bean jars up front, dim evening lights of closing time filing Leash Love Latte.
“Tall fellow, right?” You uncle questioned in response.
"Yeah," you nodded, "him. If he comes back, I'm going to get him in the kitchen."
"In the kitchen?" Your uncle's voice raised both in incredulity and response to some barks from your café companions. "I thought you liked him."
"Oh, geez!" Plucking a not-so-wet grey washcloth from your counter, you lobbed it at your uncle and his jokes. "I do. You think I'd let any loser with a dazzling smile into my laboratory?"
The washcloth connected with your uncle's shoulder, breaking his face into a grin as he shook it into his hand and started wiping the kitchen surface with it. "Ugh, save the sappy crap for him, huh? What are you even going to make him do? A day of free labor?"
"No," you giggled, leaning on the shining metal of your counterspace, "I think he has better ideas than he gives himself credit for. I'm just going to let him try making whatever he wants."
"As long as you guys clean up after yourselves," your uncle teases you, giving you a fond smile.
"Of course we will," you reply with a joyous look of your own, anticipation coursing through you as you imagined all the things you could come up with on your quest for a new menu item...and maybe something else new for you.
~
"Get in the kitchen with you? Me?" Yunho looked at you with eyes wide, holding little Nun a bit tighter in his hands in startlement as if you'd suggested he set his pants on fire.
"Well, I wasn't exactly asking your invisible twin brother there," you teased, clicking the pen in your hand open, then closed again, as you glanced over his shoulder.
He turned his head that way too like there'd suddenly be someone there. There obviously was not. "Alright, point taken. You liked the cereal lattes that much, huh?"
That wasn't what I liked most, you wanted to say. You leaned a bit further out from behind the register. "Something like that. I think it would be fun! Don't you? We don't have to make something good, that'll just be a bonus!"
Yunho's smile returned as yours spread out, and he bent over and gently placed the little fluffball he'd been holding back on the floor, where she stood at his feet, sniffing Cherry, a black chihuahua. "I don't think it'll be fun, (y/n)..."
Your expression stiffened a bit, eyebrows raising to urge his trailed-off sentence on.
"I know it will be! Let's do it! As long as you're allowed to do this, of course."
And then you were smiling again, heart beating in anticipation. You were going to get this dog-loving man and his silly innocent brain in your life no matter what it took.
"Cleared with the boss man and all. Let's make something out of this dead workday!"
Yunho laughed at that, accepting the hand you held out, beckoning him into the sacred space behind the counter, aka your drink and treat lab.
"So," you grinned, folding both your hands under your chin, "wanna make a drink or bake something?"
"Why don't we bake?" Yunho replies, gaze breaking from yours in thought. "Hmm, what's a good dessert to go with a drink? Shortcake?"
"Like strawberry shortcake?"
"Yeah, but why is shortcake always strawberry? Why can't it be any other fruit?"
You shrugged, feeling your expression smugly egg him on. "Why can't it? What do you have in mind?"
"Have you ever seen those candied melons? What about melon shortcake? I bet no one's done that before," Yunho answered before pausing for a couple ticks of Leash Love Latte's dangly-tail dog-in-a-teacup wall clock, "or is that gross?"
Crossing further into the kitchen, you pulled open a silver cabinet and turned back to him. "Only one way to find out."
He shuffled into the kitchen beside you, bouncing on his heels. “Do you have a shortcake recipe?”
“I do indeed,” you said with a grin, taking an apron off the peg on the kitchen wall and handing it his way.
You set to work prepping and measuring the wet ingredients while Yunho took on the dry, the most prominent of which was the flour. Shortcake, you reminded him, wasn’t as sweet as a regular cake, so that seemingly small amount of sugar was in fact correct.
It all went nearly without a hitch, only a small chunk of butter plopping onto the silvery counter, which you quickly twirled around to wipe squeaky clean again. Yunho was doing great at sifting everything together, almost as if he’d done it before.
Well, until the last scoop of flour, that is. The last one hung just wrong, dropping from the measuring cup in Yunho’s hand and sliding down the edge of the mesh strainer, bursting in a cloud of curling pure white dust upon the counter, his apron, and even on the side of your pant leg.
"Oh my gosh, (y/n), I'm so sorry!" Yunho immediately exclaimed, holding his hands out like he didn't trust them anymore.
"Don't worry about it," you replied with a smile and a flippant gesture, "it won't be the first or the last time that happens in here. Besides, in Hallmark movies all things like this do is start a cheeky flour fight."
Yunho glanced down helplessly at his apron and the counter. "Wouldn't that just make it worse?"
"Oh, absolutely," you nod, "but if you just twirl it off your apron, you'll get a pretty cloud effect."
Expectation? A little shimmy. Reality? Yunho executing a perfect showman's leaping twirl, the move indeed enhanced by a puff surrounding him as the powder shook off of him and drifted down to the kitchen tile.
You might've been gaping, but it quickly faded into a smile as you drifted past him in search of a rolling pin. "Alright, so you're, like, an expert dancer, that's totally normal and not extremely cool."
"Oh, I'm no expert. I-I just dance for a living," he replied with a shy grin and darting gaze.
"I hate to break this to you," you leaned on the counter in front of him, rolling pin in hand and awe on your face, "but that makes you an expert. Certainly more than me. You should be there one of the many times I forget a step of the macarena."
Yunho's hands started drifting around in the general airspace above his shoulders, head, and hips. "Which part?"
All you could do was giggle and hold the rolling pin up in your hand, head shaking. "Have you ever kneaded and rolled dough before?" He had good dough hands. Certainly more proportional to the dough than yours!
~
"We did it, (y/n)! We made shortcake!" Practically floating above the tile, Yunho high-fived you after you set the tray down.
While your creation baked, the two of you had ditched your aprons and crossed the threshold back into adoptable territory to absolutely ruin all your kitchen-sanitary hands on the hurricane of dogs that surged after you, leaping into your arms like the sweetest of crests crashing onto your jean-clad knees.
This time you took Nun and Yunho had Mickey the Australian shepherd, who plopped right down on the café tile with his head in Yunho's now-seated lap. You held your fluffy ball of wonder close to your chest and she practically melted in, little black boba eyes fluttering contentedly shut.
Both of you whined how it was torture and apologized to the dogs as if it was a coordinated act as you waved and backed into the kitchen with four remorseful eyes on the adoptable crowd, and that was how the shortcake was procured.
Candying the watermelon went off without a hitch. Well, mostly. While a welcome strength boost to cut the honeydews, Yunho had you half giggling, half protectively extending an arm as he yelped at the bubbling sugar boiling in the pot. For that, you bid him mix the cream while you got the fruit ready.
More time with the adoptables as the candy set, and then you were stacking cake, cream, and shining, syrupy melon chunks into a light yellow-and-green treat topped with some melon balls and classic rosettes.
"It's beautiful," you congratulated Yunho with a wide smile.
"Better than the fruit loop latte idea?"
You just nodded as the sound of your business's door closing rang our behind you. "And here's our proof coming!" You clapped, rushing out of the kitchen in the bouncing dance of a barista on a mission. "Uncle, will you try our dessert please? Yunho and I worked really hard on it," you plead as you dragged your amused uncle into your workspace, one arm linked with his and the other gesturing with a flourish toward the lovely shortcake and your lovely fellow baker, who immediately bent his legs and struck an introductory pose at it himself.
"I can tell. This looks great, you two," your uncle told you, pride clear in his voice as much as on his face as he ruffled your hair with his free hand.
Wiggling gently out of your grip, he accepted the proffered fork from Yunho and reached over to dig into the plated treat you'd decorated on the counter, which of course you'd wiped down before he could see the mess you made. Didn't hurt to butter up the person trying your new innovation, right?
Your uncle's eyebrows shot up the moment the forkful of your shortcake entered his mouth, both you and Yunho leaping up as if watching the pinnacle of a photo-finish race.
"Well, how is it?" You burst out, practically wiggling under the suspense.
"Yes, sir," Yunho added, straightening the apron he'd put back on, "is it good enough to go on the menu?"
"It's very good, son," your uncle began, eliciting a loud cheer from you two and a resonant, stingingly strong high-five of elation to boot.
"But," he added, both of you inhaling at his next words, eyes not even leaving him when an audible, surely adorable play-wrestle broke out among the adoptables, "if you want this on the menu, there's one condition."
"Wh- what's that? Er, sir?" Yunho stiffened under your uncle's serious gaze.
Short-lived as it was; the expression soon melted into your beloved joker's smile of mischief. "You have to take my niece on a date."
"Uncle, I-" You began to protest, heat rising to your cheeks faster than any oven or milk steamer could preheat.
"Yes, sir," Yunho nodded, sparing you a quick glance and a small wave as if he'd forgotten you were there, "that's a much greater reward than the menu spot."
His smile turned almost into something you'd see on a lovesick cartoon, as if your heart hadn't flipped hard enough in the past few minutes or even from the first time he walked in and you saw him being gentle with the adoptables.
What could you say? Guess it was puppy love.

Three weeks into the latest depressive episode A magazine calls - they want me on the cover
I tell them they’ve made a mistake I tell them the only reason I picked up Was for the sticky ‘ew’ feeling Of answering a phone call In this day and age
I tell them I haven’t showered And all I’ve eaten today Is a pack of six bake-at-home cinnamon buns And I feel a bit sick
He tells me I work for ‘Not Okay’ Magazine And we don’t make mistakes
Well, okay, we do Often But most of the time they’re sexy mistakes. We both know he’s lying, But I agree out of exhaustion.
They send a photographer to my flat We agree on a series of tasteful nudes With unwashed laundry And mouldy mugs In all the right places. They ooze attitude They also ooze literal ‘ooze’ Because of the, y’know, mould.
I list my nearest and dearest So they can ask for quotes. The one they print reads: “I wouldn’t really call us friends I haven’t heard from them In years I assumed they were mad at me.”
We chat in my living room Over a single measuring jug filled With expired instant coffee The interviewer breathes in a waft Of bovril-smelling caffeine slurry And wipes the awe from his eyes Then says:
“A few years ago No-one knew you You were medium sad The human equivalent of a drive-thru restaurant Bad, sure, but everyone knew what they were getting. You were … a C minus.
But now? You’re a landmark A national trust ruin They may as well tattoo ‘This is not a place of honour’ On the small of your back.
My doctor heard I was interviewing you And referred me for therapy As a precaution. So let me ask the question on everyone’s lips? What’s your secret?”
“What a great question.” I say, wrestling the coffee From his hands Because I deserve it
“It takes a lot of practice. You’ve just got to make time To remap your synapses I try to fit in one life-changingly bad event a year To really forge new wide-ranging roads Through my internal atlas Away from those depots of cloying serotonin I know I don’t deserve. Y’know, something really verve-destroying.
I’ve careened across the map Wheels burning into redundancy town Double-parking at heartbreak hotel (did you know you could fail a break-up?) Getting a ticket on bereavement boulevard A hit-and-run through jury service-ville (leaving my faith in humanity behind)
And of course Pandemic City was a blessing for all us sad-sacks But an extra spicy affair if you worked in healthcare
Finally, I crashed the metaphor into a river On the coldest night on record But it was pretty shallow And I think the cold probably helped Shock me out of it. Plus, I made it home with my trousers only partially frozen.
We are creatures of habit, Michael Can I call you Michael?”
(He quickly corrects me - Michael is not his name - “I didn’t ask you what your fucking name was I asked if I could call you Michael” He says yes)
“Like I said - creatures of habit If you *practice* If you really dig your feet in If you cut a wide furrow through the mud Some part of you will start to think Of the hole you burrowed in the dirt As home.
Your highest landmarks Are distant skyline and To visit would feel like trespassing.”
At the end of the interview I ask Michael If he’s sure I’m qualified To be a coverperson
After all There are so many people More ‘not okay’ than me Or who have more reason to be Yet remain seemingly functional.
“That’s the beauty of Not Okay magazine,” he says, with a smile like marshmallow “We don’t judge or rank. We ask for one thing: That today you are not okay.
In its own way, every sadness is interesting Even when it feels boring as the road you grew up on Tomorrow you might even be happy That’s okay too. Tomorrow is an impossibility of sunrises. Today - you are seen.”

hello can i have an mha matchup please (romantic)? (if theyre still open)
pronouns: she/her
sexuality: demisexual/demiromantic
Star sign (if that helps-): Leo
Personality type: INFP
Ambivert
I use emoticons a lot as you'll see :>
Favorite colors: Purple and black especially since they work so well together
I'm a huge animal lover and I love cats and dogs. I have one cat and two dogs and they're my children :>
My cat is kinda cold but I love picking him up and cuddling him. I treat him like my child even though he gets silly sometimes :>
I love playing fetch with my dogs too and walking them around and just getting them excited and hyper because they're kinda silly when they get like that :)
Very much a night owl as I hate waking up in the mornings. When I wake up I actually just lay in bed for another 30 minutes before actually getting up. Sometimes it tends to annoy people
I love caffeine and am told that I might have a slight addiction to it. For that reason I commonly get coffee whenever I see a starbucks or some coffee shop. Even then I tend to get drinks quite a bit (not alcoholic as I don't drink) like smoothies or tea and such. Not a huge fan of energy drinks but I do like caffeine so eh.
Personality: I typically go with the flow of things and am laid back for the most part. Although with that being said I do have a rather chaotic side that does come out quite often. Taking any dares and challenges which can tend to get me in trouble at times. When I'm also chaotic I tend to make the most out of pocket jokes and say the most random things that tend to surprise people
I also hyperfixate on the most random things ever. I could see something for a minute and the next thing that you know I'm all over it for the next few days or weeks. They can even last years before i tend to want nothing to do with it. I also tend to be quite drained after a hyperfixation. I am am quite all over the place as a person getting distracted by anything and everything in the entire world if I find it even slightly interesting
I'm a creative person as I write quite a bit about random things and ideas that I come up with. I also do it to blow off steam or just think about things and put them into perspective. I usually do most of my 'philosophical' thinking when I am writing and it can get quite all over the place.
I do have very bad anger issues. If I'm having a bad day I snap at others quite quickly and tend to make rude jokes or comments to them and I regret it badly later on. Also I can kinda be angered easily by others and tend to hold grudges quite often especially if I don't think a situation was resolved properly. Even if the situation doesn't involve me and it involves my friends I'll get involved just to help them out and I tend to get quite defensive and once again say a bunch of horrible shit to the other person.
I've been told that I'm terrifying when I'm angry. I tend to throw things and break things along with shout at others. I also give the silent treatment quite often and don't listen to the other person at all even if I feel as if I'm wrong.
I'm also a sarcastic person. Especially with my friends. But if I feel like they're actually getting uncomfortable with it I'll stop and try and switch it up. My humor also differs depending on the people that I'm with quite often.
When first meeting someone I tend to be very quiet and polite really scared with what they think of me and I try to be as respectful as possible. But as time goes on I'll warm up quite quickly depending on the person and become louder and slightly more out of pocket.
Moral alignment: true neutral
Aesthetic: Dark academia-ish along with some glitch core because i just really like the look of both
Hobbies: I've been playing the violin for about 4 years now and I'm kinda good at it. It takes quite a bit out of me but I love it so much. I'm basically in love with the sound and the technique that comes with it. I also read a lot. I can finish a 400 page book in a day if I really try. But typically it takes me 2-3 day to finish a 400-500 page book. I read quite fast.
I also take a martial art and have been taking it for about 9 months now. I'm not very good and I've been taking a break for a while because of school but I do love doing it and actively participating in it.
As mentioned before I do write as a form of thinking and kind of venting and just considering everything and putting it into perspective. I find it quite relaxing even if I haven't really written anything in a bit. I draw also a few things. Mostly my hyperfixations and even though I'm not that good I am studying the anatomy quite a bit now and trying to start over in terms of knowledge and really learn everything.
Music is honestly my passion in some ways. I love listening to it and I do it all the time. When I work out, study, read, write, I always listen to it. I also average about 20,500 minutes on spotify every year as its one of my favorite things to do.
I commonly binge watch tv and chill too. I can binge watch a whole show in a day. Also if I really like something I'll watch it a shit ton of times and then just analyze the fuck out of it and post my findings online. I just find symbolism and the whole film stuff so interesting. I wanna be a director so if that has anything to do with it :>
ALSO- I'm in love with greek mythology. I find all of the stories so interesting and I find the way they put things such as death, hope, and rage so interesting to study and then see how they compare it to other things. I also study their gods quite often because it shows how they thought of certain things like how they praise Athena but despise Ares.
Back on the topic of tv I watch horror quite a bit and the series' like scream and such. I'm in love with slashers and mysteries because I like trying to find out the killer and putting everyone in a room seeing their motivations and such. I love the analyzation aspect of it which is why its one of my favorite genres. I also am into musicals if they have good music. I've watched Hamilton, the greatest showman, encanto, and a bunch more or which I cannot name right now.
Also I'm learning spanish as of right now and I like to think that I can understand quite a bit of it as of right now. :>
Pet peeves: People who actually can take a hint or can and just don't care or respect it at all. I find it really disrespectful and rude and in general and ignore them for the most part. I also find just stuck up people annoying as even though they act like they're better they're really not. I also don't like it when people chew in my ear and I tend to move away from them. It just triggers something in my brain that makes me want to get away from them
Love language: I love quality time with others and I love giving them gifts just to show that I care for them. I tend to get smaller things for them just so I can get them more stuff :>
As for physical touch I'm not a big fan of it. I'm fine with some hugging and cuddling but I can't handle holding hands for long periods of time, constant hugging and or touching. I like my personal space so there's that. I'm fine with shoulder touching and people grabbing me every now and then though. Just not constantly or for long periods of time.
Appearance: tan skin with dark brown eyes and hair. i wear glasses sometimes but dont usually because theyre not fit properly and i keep trying to get them fir but it never works so ive just given up-. honestly i mostly wear softer clothing such as sweatpants, leggings, or sweaters/sweatshirts. but sometimes i wear jeans and actually style myself although i usually just keep it casual.
Hello and thank you so much for your request as well as your patience while I work on getting all of these requests out at last! I hope that you enjoy your match-up! Have a wonderful day/night!
Request: MHA match-up
I match you with........
Shinso Hitoshi
Chances are the two of your first met when seeing a stray cat out on the streets one night and it honestly just kinda clicked from there
He isn't exactly the most social person or the most approachable, but you know Shinso, and his dedication to become a hero to prove others wring about his quirk
Speaking of his quirk, he was a little taken back the first time you mentioned that you rather liked it and had commented on how useful it could be in certain situations, especially with the vocal modifier
Yes, that is a blush on his face
Yes, he tried to hide it
No, it did not work
He is perfectly alright with you not being a fan of physical touch, he understands that it's not exactly everyone's cup of tea and is perfectly fine and content with just being in the same room as you. Simple quality time is perfect for him, especially when the both of you could be so busy with school, training, and internships
So any bit of time that you two have with one another is fully taken advantage of
Which is often used for watching some of the movies that the both of you happen to be into and share similar interests in
Granted, he has fallen asleep more than once but you understand, the poor boy is completely worn out half of the time with all that he is doing
Shinso would absolutely help you out with martial arts
Given the nature of his quirk and knowing there are chances that it may not work on an enemy as it only works if they respond to him, he has had to learn more offensive tactics hence his training with binding cloth. It's a win-win for the both of you
When it comes to your anger issues, Shinso knows first hand just what to do when it comes to help in that regard without making them worse for you and everyone else who may be involved
It is much appreciated on your end
Just know, that as long as you are with him, he will do everything in his power to help you, keep you safe, and to show you just how loved that you are
Thank you for your request!

more hlvrai x yume nikki au stuff!!!
this post is gonna have a lot more text than my usual posts. so sorry if you don't want that.
so people seemed to really like my idea (which is really unexpected !! i didn't expect it to gain any attention at all!!! but its also super awesome and im so glad they do!!) so ive been brainstorming a little bit.
heads up i know yume nikki is a very ambiguous game but im pretty new to it so if i happen to get any established information wrong please let me know !? ty !!
anyways. before we do the effects. please take some sprites.
(body horror ((multiple eyes, messed up limbs, gunshot sounds)) under the cut!!! pls stay safe !!! ) (also a huge lore dump. sorry!)
id think this au takes place in a universe where the resonance cascade was real (aka not a game or simulation) and it'd be like, maybe a few months after it. gordon is traumatized as hell and it haunts his subconscious to the point he feels the need to isolate himself completely. he relives his trauma through eerily consistent dream worlds and then dies on a random tuesday. credits roll. audience cheers. wonderful story.
the vision for the sprites is that tommy functions as a "friendly" npc (like monoko and the other girl i forget the name of please forgive me) and benrey functions as poniko, uboa being "xenrey" or essentially messed up alien benrey (the weird...white...blood....world...room...uboa takes you to when you interact with it is simply replaced by xen. that's it. benreys house is a direct gateway to that time gordon fought god and won and isn't that amazing.)
i might remake the "uboa" sprite in the future because i don't really like it right now. im very new to pixel art and imitating YMNK's style is a little hard.
i like to think this imaginary game would have the teensiest tiny bit of dialogue, only when interacting with benrey. when you interact with his "regular" form, he says "you're not supposed to be here." and repeats it every time you interact, not saying anything else.
i know one of the biggest things that makes yume nikki stand out is its lack of dialogue, but listen, i think it would work well!!! seeing as this is the only time a character actually talks to gordon through understandable dialogue (unless i come up with something else!! haha) i think it would be confusing and throw players off because it breaks the pattern of being either ignored or silently acknowledged. someone talking directly to you after hours of isolation is confusing and unpredictable. which is what benrey is. confusing as hell!
im not sure what function tommy would offer, if any, i kinda want him to maybe give gordon an effect (soda effect could work?)
i dont think he'd bring any jumpscares or intentionally unsettling things to the table. seeing as he was the only one by gordon's side when the rest of the team proved itself to be a threat, i think it's logical he'd remember tommy in a warmer light than the others- which is reflected in how instead of unsettling or ignoring gordom, dream tommy simply smiles and gives him the ability to drink a soda any time. soda effect.
does this soda effect make you see faster like tommy said?
as much as i'd love to, no. probably not. because i have no idea what the hell seeing faster means.
maybe you can get a caffeine overdose. if you spam 1 enough times you will get very fast for as long as the soda effect is on. like the bycicle effect, but better, because you can taste it!
but no, it won't help you see faster. i don't know how to translate that sentence into understandable english.
now, coomer and bubby!!!! i apologize very deeply for i have not made sprites for them yet. i promise i will!!! it's just very late today and if i draw anything else i will actually just pass out.
im not very sure what i want for them yet. i think theyd be similar to tommy, but they'd have different functions. maybe they all give gordon different effects. or maybe they scare him! i dunno, i feel like there'd be a certain level of distrust from gordon to the old guys, like, of course he doesn't hate them but itd be hard to remember them super kindly and harmlessly when one of them ruthlessly tried to murder you with 300 clones of himself and the other tricked you into an ambush that cost you your arm, as much as you love them.
also!!! i completely forgot gordon lost an arm when i made his sprite. oops. it's okay its just a very realistic prosthetic
anyways. this post is getting too long so i think I'll save the boomer talk for when i actually post their sprites. its time for EFFECTS !!
i haven't been able to come up with many words yet. but i have some effects and a slight idea of how gordon would earn them.
concept art is beautiful
from left to right (because my handwriting is absolutely hideous!)
SODA - earned by interacting with TOMMY. wherever tommy is??? i dunno! pressing 1 will make gordon drink the soda and earn a temporary speed boost.
CAR??? - part of me really wants to rename this one but it's so funny to me i want to keep it. it's just a car. he literally just whips out a car and starts driving. what a legend. this effect lets him get across water areas faster (even faster than the soda!)
LONG HAIR - literally just gives him long hair. there is no practical use for this. nothing will happen. it just gives him long hair. isnt he beautiful.
ARM - earned by interacting with a dismembered arm found... somewhere.... probably some dark room. you know that effect where madotsuki literally just becomes a head? yeah. this is that but it's an arm because of course it is. this is an opportunity and i will not give it up. there is no use for this either. it just makes him a slow sad lonely arm.
MINIGUN - found by interacting with a certain object in POTION !! WORLD !! YEAHHH!! DARNOLD REFERENCE !!! pressing 1 will let you shoot the hell out of your enemies and make them pay for their sins
SWEET VOICE - found by interacting with any of the orbs in COLOR WORLD. 1 will allow gordon to song a beautiful, colorful song that will soothe any npcs he might have angered and make them stop trying to murder him.
POWERLEGS - MAYBE given by coomer npc? idk! this is all brainstorming and a work in progress! 1 makes gordon jump real high, allowing him to reach otherwise unaccessible areas
GHOST - ghost. he's a ghost. he's transparent. he flies. 1 makes him do a little ooooo noise and all the npcs run away from him because the place is haunted. ghost.
GLASSES - literally just pick up some glasses from the floor. putting them on will uncover a few hidden details across the map that may be necessary for progress ... like a very small and specific set of stairs
SMALL - makes gordon very small. i thought the original effect was super fun so i just kept it unchanged. small gordon. he can clone himself and make a gordon army. small. im thinking he finds it thru a coomer clone that is abnormally small. he interacts. small effect. small!
SHORT HAIR - literally just short hair. gordon can't seem to pick a haircut!
UMBRELLA - ...umbrella. makes it rain. shelters gordon from the rain at the same time. can be used for the same purpose it has in yume nikki which is putting out fires or stopping pre-existing rain.
there's supposed to be more effects and i still need to plan all the worlds and hidden rooms but ........ maybe when the sun is out and i have slept and i can think better !!! let me know whatever suggestions or ideas you guys have. i love hearing them a lot ^_^ thank you if you read all of this!! i promise hlvrai animations are not over this is just an au that has temporarily taken over its okay my content is not changing to yume nikki hlvrai only
gordon no

The great regular sleep experiment of 2024 day uh... "too much tea"
Well it turns out that while caffeine helps me sleep fine for my morning slot... Drinking a lot of fluids doesn't...
Other than being up to pee a whole lot, I slept well enough, ended up staying in bed till closer to 3 on account of the getting up to pee a bunch. Lesson learned. That could have gone way worse.
I *think* these sleep shifts are as good as it's going to get. One is even right after morning errands where I get in, put stuff away and want nothing more than to shower and fall into bed.
Also Pumpkin will let me sleep for 4 hours at a time, if it's at times he's used to me doing it and if it doesn't go on much longer than that... Because babies [cats] need to be fed every 4 hours :/ [this one does]
Right now I'm still a bit hyper-thyroid though, and it just got warm out, and I think my immune system is 'activating' against something again, so I have been trying to push myself to do chores if I am going to be awake and feel physically horrible anyway.
I did that thing where after scrubbing the floor yesterday and letting it dry, I swept it again today in greater detail and washed it again. Ooooh aaaah clean floors. Cleaned the toilet, washed dishes, did some sink laundry.
AND I FOUND MY 'O' KEY!!! I have a full keyboard again!
The main thing is I am trying to keep all the cleaning and organizing 1. Quiet and 2. done at a pace I could maintain on most days, because if I get a bee in my bonnet about it and wear myself down, i might get a huge chunk done... I might even get the 'rest' as done as it can be, but then I will crash and have to recover, which might mean falling behind on everything again and breaking any fragile habits, and I don't want to do that...
The only issue I see with this sleep schedule is it tends to take me 4 ish hours to wake up after sleeping and a bit to wind down... So the 5 hours between my sleeps works fine on days where I can spend that 5 hours doing nothing much, but on days where I need to do stuff --that isn't groceries before morning bedtime and crashing-- it means 8 hours spent sleeping, plus the five in between that I can't use, plus another 3 minimum to get running, plus whatever hours I sleep past 2pm because i need extra sleep, and then having those remaining hours be in the middle of the night.
The only other way to approach it is by waking up and immediately throwing myself into doing things before I am awake enough to process anything, like how much it hurts... And that can be okay for basic cleaning, but I am so out-of-it when I first wake up that doing anything with anything heavy or sharp or powered becomes actively dangerous. ... Which is why it usually takes me 4 ish hours to get running because otherwise I am not alert... and that leaves... maybe 7 hours. Mostly being at night will add to my ability to being alert, and those hours would be great for working on art or writing and quiet creative projects, but it's not workable for any kind of tool use, or any heavy cleaning or organizing. [If I had my own house it would be fine]
And the problem is that if I am left with no times of day that are convenient to do a thing... I end up unconsciously avoiding it without realizing what's getting in my way. I KNOW I do that, so I am trying to set myself up for success instead of failure.
My remaining hope is that as I get used to this schedule, if I can keep it without the *symptoms*... I'll start to get alert or sleepy faster when it's appropriate and struggle less to do things during the 5 hours between sleeps.
On the bright side at least I am *mostly* only fighting my own body for this, but not having roommates to also have to work around... Just apartment neighbours.
If I can just get really used to a half-awake 5 hours of misery on any morning I have to get shit done, it'll be mostly fine, probably??

Hi AUfriend <3
Excuse me marching in here unannounced. I sent some asks to Mareena and Para, and well, I thought that perhaps you might also like these questions. (Feel free to do it in your own time or ignore as spoons allow. <3)
I know we love to talk about breaking the rules in writing and obviously, that not every piece of advice is one-size-fits all, but there is a lot to say about being able to speak with each other about what we have learned during our journey. I was wondering if you wouldn't share. (I also plan on poking some of the others to see what more we can shake out. The more the merrier, no?)
What is the most useful/helpful pieces of advice you ever received during your education in relation to writing?
Once you started to write, what was the most important thing that you learned about writing or its process?
Has your real life had any influence on your writing? If so, how?
What advice would you give to aspiring writers (be it fanfiction or original)?
I would, in fact, like these questions. Give me all the questions. I broke my own advice and deleted a paragraph of this and started over. Then I left and came back a few hours later.
1.) The most useful advice?
Your job is to tell a story. (Stop trying to push multiple things in a narrative, stop trying to impress people, stop wondering what the audience wants, you have one goal- anything extra is extra.) Motivation will not support you, but discipline will. (I wrote everyday, two days off a week. I did this for a year. That year has given me more stamina in terms of writing than any amount of inspiration ever has. Its the reason some stories can exist at all.) The job of a first draft is to exist. (It can't be good until its bad, it can't be bad if it doesn't exist.)
2.) Once you started to write, what was the most important thing you learned?
<Trying to remember when I started writing> Start small? I started a lot of big projects before I got comfortable doing small projects, and that hurt me in the long run, I think. It isn't a lack of discipline or ability on your part, don't get offended. Its just, small things are a huge confidence builder. I have so many unfinished works on my laptop, that it made me feel like a failure. Having several small completed works helped me have the confidence and know-how to look at a big project and go "no big deal." Also, contrary to popular belief, people do actually like small bits of fanfiction, gen fanfiction even. Short stories do have a market. Those small prompts are really helpful in boosting confidence and practicing in a non-stressful environment. Also, it helps work maintain an even amount of skill. My skills at the beginning of a story are much better than at my endings.
Technical stuff: Warming up will save me time and stress.. I can spend two hours looking at a blank screen or I can spend five minutes on typing exercises and ten minutes free writing. Sitting at a desk is more productive and better than sitting on my bed. I need to have some sort of caffeine and or water next to me. Walking beforehand eases out the jitters. I do better when I am not posting everytime I hit 1 or 5k.
Brand new information: Having a group of writers talking to you and encouraging you about your project makes writing a LOT easier. They give me a positive word and suddenly things start getting accomplished. Its magical. Being dependent on other people for motivation is not healthy, but it IS normal to need affirmation- my mind thinks of it as a really good dose of speed.
3.) Has your real life had any influence on your writing?
I had two immediate responses to this. One was, "I hope so" the other was "Damn, I hope not." A few things that have probably gotten into my writing: 1.) My relationship with disability 2.) Sometimes people have to live in unhealthy and uncomfortable situations. They live and their lives are still WORTH living, even if things aren't perfect. 3.) Sometimes life changes directions completely and you aren't you you thought you would be by the end. 4.) Some of my favorite fic authors 5.) My family history
There is also a Screwtape Letter's quote that really put my writing into perspective, or really any skilled labor. It eases a lot of insecurity, if this is what I am striving towards. > “The Enemy wants to bring the man to a state of mind in which he could design the best cathedral in the world, and know it to be the best, and rejoice in the fact, without being any more (or less) or otherwise glad at having done it than he would be if it had been done by another. The Enemy wants him, in the end, to be so free from any bias in his own favour that he can rejoice in his own talents as frankly and gratefully as in his neighbour's talents--or in a sunrise, an elephant, or a waterfall.”
4.) What advice would I give?
You have to let yourself suck. You have to let it be bad. You get good by being bad. Writing is an imperfect craft, and if you spend your time trying be perfect- its just going to add a layer of misery to what should be a joy. My friends and family have to drag me away from writing these days. I get irritable if I don't write, because the last little thing that was keeping me from writing- what was filling me with dread- was that need for perfection.
Stop hiding your work. You have nothing to be ashamed of.
Do your time letting yourself work through it feeling like a chore. That is a normal part of the journey, feeling like each word is coming at a crawl and "I have no idea why I do this" and "This isn't good." I would compare it to doing scales or running laps. Its hard, repetitive, useless work- but after you've built up the skill and endurance, you can focus on the story you are writing- not if you can do it at all.

Micro Story: Caffeine
Story Content and Summary - 1,132 words. No resus. A gentle, first-person POV story about a reaction to coffee. Written gender neutral. Hurt/comfort. 🏳️🌈
--
“Are you all right?”
You raise your eyebrows at me, watching as I sit slumped at the breakfast table. I have a headache, the kind that feels like approaching summer storms.
“I’m getting a migraine.” My voice is embarrassing in its pitifulness.
“Oh, I’m sorry.” You hover, unsure if you should touch me. Sometimes the migraines make my skin hurt. “What can I do for you? Want a glass of water?”
“Water would be good…” I close my eyes and grind the lids with the heels of my hands. “Actually, can I have some of your coffee?”
In this household, we keep caffeinated coffee, which you mostly drink, and decaffeinated coffee, which is all for me.
I hear the silence of your hesitation before you ask: “Are you sure?”
“Yeah, it might help my head.” I drop my hands and give you a wobbly smile to reassure you. You nod and offer me your own tentative grin. Making coffee is something you can do to help. You like feeling useful, and I so often have problems you can’t solve.
Soon, I have a hot cup of drip in my hands, smoothed out with a splash of half-and-half. Caffeinated coffee is good; decaf beans aren’t always easy to find, and I miss the variety of roasts available to people who can tolerate caffeine.
“Want some toast or eggs with that?” you ask.
“Both.” I am confident I’ll be hungry when my head feels better, and I know coffee on an empty stomach isn’t the best idea.
You are kind and make us breakfast, and by the time it’s ready I feel like eating. I go on to get cleaned up for the day, feeling better and better as the minutes tick by. On the agenda: Work in the backyard until it rains or it’s time for lunch. Don’t get sunburned. My headache fades until it’s nothing but smoke on the horizon, and I pull on some yard clothes and follow you outside.
I make it an hour.
The problem starts with a fluttering sensation in my chest. I think at first I have indigestion, but then I stand up from my crouch by the flower bed. A cold sweat breaks out across my forehead, and I sway. You have your back to me, so you don’t see me wavering on my feet. What you notice instead is that I’ve suddenly gone silent, my chatter terminating mid-sentence.
“Are you all right?” The same question as before. I’m standing in the yard with my hand pressed to my stomach, hoping the lightheadedness and nausea will pass.
The fluttering in my chest worsens, and I identify the sensation as palpitations. I wonder if I can catch my pulse rate on my watch without alerting you, but it’s too late. You are already up and headed in my direction, evidently seeing something concerning in my sweaty face.
I shiver, even though it’s already in the eighties at this early hour, and you take my arm.
“Come sit down.” You pull me toward the patio furniture. I follow. My legs feel insubstantial.
The fluttering in my chest increases pace until it feels like hammering, and I’m breathing fast. I let you ease me into a chair, watch as you crouch in front of me, trying to judge my condition by the look on my face. Your hand reaches out, cups the clammy skin of my cheek.
“Do you feel faint? You look pale.”
I nod, breathless now. I just want to feel better.
“My heart,” I pant, hurriedly continuing when I see a look of alarm pass over your face. “My heart’s beating really fast. I shouldn’t have had that coffee.”
You nod, relaxing just a bit. You look more sympathetic than anything else, and you don’t chastise me. No “I told you so,” or “You always do this.” You are, above all else, kind.
Your fingers move from my face to my neck, pressing against my carotid. I watch your face grow distant as you concentrate, then frown. “Can you stand? I want to get you inside, out of the sun. I can get that pulse oximeter we bought for COVID.”
I start to rise, but you stop me with a hand on the center of my chest. “Hey! Go slow. You don’t have chest pains, do you?”
“No.” It’s the truth, but at this point I’m frightened and my lips tremble. You can tell I’m still unsteady on my feet as we rise together, so you keep hold of my arm and lead me inside. The world around me cants and wheels lazily. I wonder if I’m going to vomit.
The air indoors is crisp, and you set me down on the sofa. I try to fold over and put my head between my knees, but then I can’t breathe, so I have to push myself upright. I’m quickly losing control of myself, my own breathy gasps loud in my ears.
I hardly notice that you’ve gone anywhere when you’re back, carrying your phone and a glass of water and the promised pulse ox.
“Hey,” you say, clipping the little white clamp on my damp index finger. “Try to slow your breathing. You’re going to be okay.”
I close my eyes and lean against the back of the sofa. You have your hands on my legs, rubbing my thighs as you encourage me to calm down.
“Your heart rate is pretty high,” you say, “but if you can take some deep breaths, I don’t think I have to call an ambulance.”
“How high?”
“Don’t worry about the number. Just take a deep breath. In… out… in… out…”
My hands are shaking. Hell, my entire body is shaking. If this goes on much longer, I’m going to cry.
“Just keep breathing.” Your voice is soothing. “You’re okay. In… out…”
I try to match your pace, relaxing my body against the upholstery.
“It’s already helping,” you reassure me. “You’re doing such a good job.”
Another moment passes and you climb to your feet and sit down on the sofa. My eyes are still closed, but I feel your arm come around my shoulders. You adjust my hand so that you can still read the pulse oximeter, then reach up to trail your fingers down my sweaty cheek.
“In, and out…”
It’s getting easier to breathe, so I lean against you, relaxing into the soothing nature of your touch.
“You’ll be back to normal before you know it,” you murmur. Your hand moves to my hair, smoothing it back from my face.
My trembling quiets, and I draw an easy breath.
“Good.” Your voice remains low-pitched and gentle. “You can just sit here with me for a while and relax, okay? We have all the time in the world.”

Are you proud of me?
As it was her last day in San Myshuno, Farida wanted to chat with her son at least once. So they went to a café located on the San Myshuno University campus.
Farida: This is a nice place, you could study there. Dawud: Mom, I am done with school, I'm finishing my mechanic training and this is what I'll be doing for a living unless something happens. But it's fine, I enjoy it greatly, and it's brought me more joy in the few months I've been doing it than my stupid programming degree gave me in the five years I forced myself to do it.
Dawud felt incredibly nervous. Why did she want to talk to him? This is just going to turn into another arguments isn't it? Also let's be honest, that cappuccino was not helping with calming him down. Little know fact, but caffeine actually tends to do the opposite of making you feel calmer.
Dawud: Mom, I'm sorry. Farida: For what? Dawud: W-Well, for everything. You know like, constantly lying to you about my wereabouts and disappearing for long periods of time and also for what I said to you when dad died. I'm so so so sorry for that, I'll admit I wasn't thinking about it anymore, but I remembered that incident recently and I've been feeling so guilty about it. Farida: I know, you were just a teenager dealing with the loss of his father. I have let this go a long time ago. Dawud: It seems I have this talent to say the most hurtful thing imaginable to the people I love whenever I'm sad. Like, when Daniele rejected me even though he loves me cause I'm a human and as a spellcaster he cannot be with me so I started insulting spellcasters as a whole. Farida: Mm?
Oh shit, Dawud had actually straight up never told her about his sexuality, as he had figured it out pretty much when he fell for Daniele. He did had suspicion growing up, but it was what finally confirmed it. So basically, not only did he dropped all of that on his mother, now he also had to anticipate her reaction to him essentially coming out.
Dawud: Um yeah, I like guys. Farida: Oh, Dawud...I've always knew you like boys. Dawud: What do you mean you always knew. Even I didn't always knew. Farida: As a child, you would often make your figurine kiss and claim they're married and when we told you it's not legal for two men to get married you cried so hard you threw up. Dawud: Ah um so, anyway...Yeah, Dan and I almost dated. So instead I dated his cousin, Matteo, for a while, didn't worked. Sex was great, but there was very little chemistry between us. Same thing with my roommates Charlie, but at least I'm still friend with her, I don't think I'll remain friend with Matteo. Also yes, by Matteo I do mean Isabella's son. Farida: This is a lot to take at once, and it includes some things I would have rather never known.
Farida took a sip of her coffee, and let the silent remain for a few moment. Dawud fidgeted with his fingers, wondering what she had to say next.
Farida: You know, in the end of the day, I must admit I am still proud of you. I know you're trying to build yourself a good life in spite of everything. Dawud: Th-Thanks mom.
The woman stood up, and reached her arm to indicate she wanted to give her son a hug, which he received. It felt nice, last time his mom gave him one, his father was probably still alive.
Though Dawud had to admit, his mind was wandering. He was thinking how that now that he's no longer with Matteo, he might be able to get Daniele. But you know, it can be a little bit gauche jumping on the dick of your ex's cousin as soon as you break up. Also, the rift between spellcasters and humans still exist, and it's not gonna be fixed any time soon. However, you know what is happening soon, the Spellcasting Summit. And Dawud had an idea...
He had to find a way to travel to the Magic Realm.

004. DISTRACTION
NOV 6TH, 2038
AM 09:52:58
"OFFICER ANDERSON?" A tall shadow was cast over Amelia by the android standing next to her and her desk. "Yes, um-" Still holding the can close to her lips like she was just about to take a sip from it, Mel was wondering if the deviant hunter had an actual name or if it only went by its serial number.
"Apologies, I never got to introduce myself. I'm Connor. I'm the android sent by Cyberlife." Hands politely folded behind its back, he said.
"Yeah, I think I've gathered the last part." Muttering under her breath, Amelia finally took a long sip of her drink, while avoiding eye contact with the android.
Connor's eyes fell on the can in her hand for a few seconds, his LED circle slightly flickering, before opening its mouth to speak; "Did you know too much caffeine can cause side effects such as insomnia, headaches, fast heart rate and anxiety?"
Amelia only stared at the android with an unbothered expression, before taking another quick sip, not breaking the eye contact the two of them were sharing. "Is that all you needed? Enlighten me about my caffeine addiction?" Finally, she placed down the can, the taste of the energy drink staining her mouth.
"No, actually," It announced. "I wanted to ask when Lieutenant Anderson usually arrives to work." Keeping it's firm position, Connor explained.
"Yeah-" Amelia awkwardly prolonged the word, using her feet to spin around in her chair a little bit. "-I have no idea." Letting out a quick sigh, she stopped spinning and turned her attention to the terminal screen in front of her, silently hoping her answer was enough to satisfy the deviant hunter.
While logging into her terminal, Amelia could see the tall android standing in the same spot from the corner of her eye. "Can I ask you a question, officer Anderson?" It broke the silence between the two of them.
Mel's gaze never left the terminal screen, as she shurgghed her shoulders in response. Even though with the android standing so close to her, she wasn't able to focus on anything happening on the screen in front of her.
"During the interrogation of the deviant, you were aware of the fact that androids do not feel pain... How so?" Carefully sitting down in an empty chair across the brunette's desk, Connor patiently waited for an answer. "I've read some articles online. That's all." Leaning back into her chair and finally taking her eyes off the screen, Amelia intertwined her hands and placed them on her lap.
"Articles with such information might be difficult to find." Connor slightly furrowed its eyebrows, causing small lines to appear on its forehead, which Amelia took notice of.
"I have my ways." She simply explained.
"You know what? My turn." Suddenly, Mel tilted her head to the side. "What kind of an android are you? I mean- I never seen an android like you."
She couldn't help but be curious about the android that showed up out of nowhere, even if the conversation made her unwell. After all, this was the first time she has worked with an android.
"RK800 #33 248 317-51. I am a prototype built to assist human law and investigating cases involving deviant androids." This was the most robotic-sounding Amelia has ever heard it talk and it visibly startled her.
"Did my answer upset you, officer Anderson?" The corners of its mouth turned into a small and confused frown. "No, no-" Blinking fast, Mel straightened her posture. "And please drop the 'officer Anderson' bullshit, no one really calls me that, it's weird. My name's just fine." Amelia placed her elbow on top of the desk and leaned her head against it, constantly moving in her seat. "If I might ask, why is the title weird to you? Do you perhaps dislike your kinship with Lieutenant Anderson?" And here comes another question, Amelia mentally sighed and rolled her eyes "You asked for one question and I've already answered two. I think that might be enough." She returned her attention to her terminal. Or at least tried.
The next few minutes were so silent, Mel almost forgot there was an android on the other side of her desk, carefully scanning the brunette and her surroundings. Amelia's desk was quite organized. No clutter, just a couple of stick notes and photos. There were three photo frames, all different sizes and colours. The first and smallest photo was a selfie of Amelia, Chris and Tina in what seemed to be a bar. All three of them had huge grins plastered across their faces, as one of the brunette's arms was lazily thrown around Chris and Tina's shoulders, pulling them closer, and in the background you could catch a glimpse of Hank and Gavin clearly bickering.
Slightly further away stood another frame with a photo that seemed at least a couple of years old. Amelia was standing behind a younger boy, tightly hugging him from behind. Connor's LED flickered yellow as he took a notice of the similarity between the two of them. The third and last frame contained a picture of Amelia sitting next to a woman with long, curly hair and a bright smile. She was throwing a peace sign at the camera, while Mel was looking at her with soft eyes. Curiously, the android did a scan of the unknown woman.

The silence that fell upon the duo soon broke. "Can I ask you another question, Amelia?" Mel looked up as soon as her name left its mouth. "Depends." She shrugged her shoulders, once again. "Do you by any chance own a cat?" Connor questioned, causing her attention to quickly snap towards him in confusion. "How do you know?" Amelia's eyes didn't leave Connor's, while her fingers hovered above the keyboard. "There's cat hair on your clothes. What's its name?" Gazing down at her lap, Amelia did notice a few white and orange hair.
"His name is Milo-- Hey! That was another question!" The corner's of Connor's mouth almost twitched into a smirk, causing Amelia to lightly chuckle. He knew exactly what he was doing. "Lieutenant Anderson has a dog. I like dogs. Do you?" Connor confessed. "I do, but my landlord doesn't allow any animals in the apartment." Explaining, Amelia now placed her other elbow on the desk for support. "What about your cat then?" This is exactly what amelia needed. A distraction. And even if it was just his programming, Connor was good at pretending to be genuinely interested in Amelia.
"Cats are easier to hide, so Milo's my little secret-- Shit, I shouldn't be tellin' you this, huh?" Mel suddenly sat up. "Do you not trust me with this information?" Connor's expression dropped. "I don't know. Are you gonna rat me out to my landlord?" She teased the android. "I will not... 'rat you out'." While using the phrase Mel herself just used, she couldn't help but notice how he sounded almost confused, which caused her to let out an airy laugh. "Oh, look who's here." Glancing over Connor's shoulder, Amelia noticed Hank stumbling towards his desk, shoulders slumped as always. "I'll be on my way now." Announcing, Connor stood up from his seat. "I'll go with you. I need Hank to sign some papers anyway..." Amelia said, grabbing the small stack of papers from the corner of her desk and getting up.
"Jesus, what is this? Some sort of conspiracy?" Sitting down with a loud groan, Hank asked, causing Amelia and Connor to share a quick look. "I need these signed by midnight." Mel placed down the papers on the older man's desk, as he muttered something under his breath in response. "I mean it, Hank." Taking a step back, Amelia was ready to turn around and walk back to her own desk. "It's not like I don't know how to fake your signature, but that would, you know, be illegal." Amelia innocently added. Hank raised his brows at her. "There were a few homework assignments back in high school." She explained, narrowing her eyes.
"Well, that's all I needed. See you, Connor. Hank." Arms falling to her sides, as soon as Amelia turned her back to the duo, she let out a quiet sigh. "Goodbye, Amelia." Connor called out after the brunette, earning a confused- almost angry stare from Hank. But before he could question it, he was interrupted by a sudden shout. "Hank! Amelia! In my office." Mel's head snapped to the source of the sound, eyes landing on Captain Fowler. Mentally cursing, she took a deep breath and straightened her posture, before walking towards his office, Hank and Connor following close behind.
As Amelia and Hank sat down in the chairs that were placed in front of Fowler's desk, Connor stood still behind them, hands clasped together in front of his body. "I've got ten new cases involving androids on my desk every day. We've always had isolated incidents, old ladies losing their androids maids and that kind of crap..." Fowler started to explain. "But now, we're getting reports of assaults and even homicides. Like that guy last night, this isn't just Cyberlife's problem anymore." The three of them continued to listen in silence. "It's now a criminal investigation and we've gotta deal with it, before shit hits the fan." Fowler announced, leaning forward on his elbows.
"I want the two of you to investigate these cases and see if there's any link." Amelia was able to take it and keep quiet, but Hank, on the other hand, wasn't. "Why me? Why do I gotta be the one to deal with this shit? I am the least qualified cop in the country to handle this case!" Hank continued his rant, while Amelia's lifeless gaze fell to the floor. "I know jack shit about androids, Jeffrey! I can barely change the settings on my phone." Pointing at Connor, Hank explained. "Everybody's overloaded. I think you're perfectly qualified for this type of investigation." Swiftly standing up from his chair and sending it flying backwards, Hank interrupted Fowler. "Bullshit! The truth is nobody wants to investigate these fucking androids and you left me holding the bag!" Hank started to pace around the office.
"Cyberlife sent over this android to help the investigation. It's a state-of-the-art prototype. It'll act as your partner." Fowler explained. "No fuckin' way! I don't need a partner and certainly not this plastic prick!" The two of them continued to argue. Amelia wished she could just get up and leave. There went her entire mood for the day. "Either you do your job or you hand in your badge. Do you see Amelia over here complaining about her job? No!" At the mention of her name, Mel didn't even bother to look up. "That's 'cause she's high on some stupid fucking meds!" Hank defended her, and maybe he was right. The anti-anxiety medication did some wonders.
"Now if you'll excuse me, I've got work to do." At Fowler's words, Hank let out a groan, before marching out of the office, slamming the glass door behind him. "Sir." Standing up from your seat, Amelia sent Fowler a quick nod, which he returned, before also heading for the door. Just when she was about to reach for the doorknob, another hand appeared and opened the door for her. Connor. "Thanks." Mel muttered, offering him a sullen smile, before quickly disappearing into a crowd of people and out of his sight...
( AUTHOR'S NOTE : btw, the way mel's mood changes even 'cause of small inconveniences is on purpose! it should make sense later on.. love y'all!! )

Good morning!
The General is here. The wound: I started to get an headache and then I took some extra strength Excedrin at 1000mg with 65mg of Caffeine.
I am good! Although, I am not impressed!
Anyway, Joe.
Truth time. I had been seperated from Joe for 10 years now. I am very close to my twin and never stopped loving him. However, over these years I had to prepare myself for possiblity of his death or never seeing him again in life. I have mourned him many times. It got to point when met Jeremiah that I had to come full terms with him.
Then again recently.
Although, my heart hurts, I cannot mourn him same as if was to find out while I still live with him.
I believe I already done the tradgic death bit. With Johnny, I only knew him for a short while, but I had instantly loved him. That love was enough to break my mind, but again, mourning him as been different.
I don't want to cut down how I feel about them or their deaths, but my mind is already certain stages. If that makes any sense.
Joe's death will hurt me. I will cry from time to time. But I can't do it the same way.
I don't want come like heartless because that's not what this is. It just the time and the distance has prepare for these moments.
I think if I was to experience their deaths full blast. That might had ended me.
Instead of being hit full swing, I got time instead. I don't know if this makes sense, but it's just how it has gone for me.
----
One of the strange that had happen a day or two before I found out about Johnny's death is Joe's FB account came online. I then had some recalls back to the abuse as babies. I went into a full swing panic mode and started call Debbie's phone line and Shoprite to see if he was still working there.
Nothing. Then I get back online and his account is gone. I thought Debbie had told him to get off FB because I was contacting them again.
That phone line gave away what the police were doing. I knew the government had the line. It drove me nuts. Debbie always had an answer machine. The one she had was a keeper. She would not get rid unless it broke and if it broke she would have another one. Hands down, she would have the answer machine.
There was no answer machine and yet that line existed. I did think the number might had be transfer to someone else but I called that fucking for 3 months straight every fucking morning.
Their attempt to make them vanish without trance was very thing that made held on like no other to the face that government involved.
Now, the day after I had found about Johnny's death. I went into a tail spin. I was flipping through the online dating profiles and for some reason they started this chain reaction to things that related to each of my siblings and I had to go search done "their facebook accounts".
The accounts I found did connect, but because obvious differences too I took it that my siblings were in some witness protection program because of the nature of my family.
One account through me off because this person look like Joe and I thought he had gotten help.
I had another McDonald insanity moment, but I like I said it was on the down low. Barely there.
For 3 months I talked into these account, but mostly Joe's account where I was talking out my family trauma. I never a got response back until for some reason I decided to contact a few people off of this person's friends list and found out the truth.
The thing about this, if it didn't happen, I would have lost my mind. But by making up some pretend scenario where hope was involved and I am at least talking about the trauma actually saved my mind.
Once came out of it. I had fully accepted situtaton enough to move forward. The same thing happened the psychosis. The next day at the hospital it was like breath of fresh air had hit my mind.
So, I think sometimes you have to lose your mind to regain your mind. I had gotten rebooted twice in this case.
I don't regret what happen and it has given the opportunity to wonderland it and come to understand as much as I can.
Hope is everything. Let me tell me you what. Hope saves you, even when you go crazy crazy, it still helps you. It helps bring in the sanity per say. If I didn't have hope.... BOOM.
The accounts. If I was to line it out, it makes sense. I swear, it did, it really did, but no. That's the thing here.
Wait a second. Is that how insanity gets you? It somehow does make sense to you? Coz again if I was to line it out, it does make sense to why I thought that. It wasn't blue to red. It was blue to light blue. You see what I am talking about?
Then there was the government and Debbie's line which is true, they have line.
So you tell me. But I got a new area here for wonderlanding.
I am just glad though that I had hit that level and yet, not turn into a monster. Just an idiot!
Alright, that's it for now.
