Voyager rewatch s6 ep25: The Haunting of Deck Twelve

All I remembered about this one is that it had something to do with the Borg kids- based on the silly title, I expected some silly kid stuff, but actually, this was a regular episode, and a good one at that.

Neelix telling the Borglets a ghost story was just a framing device- the adventure he recounts to them is a typical ship malfunction/alien intruder story, which is actually very exciting and suspenseful. Of course we know that because everyone lived to tell the tale, everything turned out okay, but it still manages to be genuinely creepy despite that. Plunging the ship into darkness with only lanterns and flashlights is a pretty effective way to ratchet up the tension, especially the scenes where the flashing red alert warning lights are the only light- it just looks cool. The whole episode is very stylishly done- we get some really cool camera angles we never see: a view of Captain Janeway's ready room backwards through her replicator; a view of the hallway and the mess hall doors from the turbolift; some nice shots of the bridge- it's really interesting to see more of how the ship is actually configured.

There's also a good deal of Grey Undershirt Porn featuring Captain Janeway. Idk how we're supposed to handle seeing her in that turtleneck while she's also yelling at an alien entity in her low angry captain voice in an attempt to defend her ship- there's like, illegal levels of hotness going on here, but I'm not mad about it!

Nearly all the regular characters get something to do in this one, and we even see Crewman Celes from Good Shepherd again- I can't believe they actually brought back a featured character from a previous ep! They rarely do that anymore! Please lets check in on our recurring crewmembers more often!! Even just a scene or two like she had here is all it takes to help the ship feel more populated and real.

The Borg kids were great here too- they're so pedantic and deadpan, but with a child's level of emotional awareness, and they're completely unaware that they're not the smartest, most efficient beings in existence. It's kind of adorable tbh. Mezoti especially is such a weird little baby goth ghoul, I love her so much.

We get more Janeway and Chakotay flirting in this one, they literally can't even have a normal conversation that doesn't involve flirting anymore- they could be talking about moldy cheese, and they'd still make it flirty. Anyone who worked on this show has no right to complain about the shippers, or say they're seeing something that isn't there- any of the directors or producers or whoever could've told Mulgrew and Beltran to play it less flirty, but they didn't, so that's on them. Y'all let this go on, you can't claim it's not your circus or your monkeys when it totally is!

There's surprisingly high stakes in this one- several characters get severely injured, the crew even evacuates the ship in escape pods at one point, and Janeway, ever ready to literally kill herself before she'll give Voyager up, almost dies playing chicken with the alien when it tries to force her to help it hijack the ship. In the end, Janeway badassery wins out, and the alien finally relents and returns control to her. Honestly if Captain Janeway growled at me to do something, I would just do it too lol.

At the end, they even gave us an actual sci-fi explanation for why the kids all think a section of deck twelve is haunted, and it's classic feel good Star Trek stuff. I really had a lot of fun with this one, it was a very pleasant surprise.

Tl;dr: A fun, exciting shipwide crisis story, very stylishly made, with nice little moments for just about every character. Plus grey undershirt Janeway! Honestly, this one's got it all!

Thoughts on the Semi Final 1 rehearsals roundup

1. Norway 🇳🇴 - I like the staging more than her national finals but I don't like the outfit, at all. I also think she looks so much prettier with her hair down and I also don't like her serious™ vibe as much. She looked so much happier and energetic in her national final. Her vocals are very much on point though and although it may feel like I'm going at her too hard, I still very much like Queen of Kings, I just feel like any momentum she has when she won her national final is slowly dying down.

2. Malta 🇲🇹 - I genuinely really like this song and I don't know why most of Europe seems to not?? They are really fun and energetic on stage and I feel like their staging is also very good so I hope they get a miracle qualification. This would be a sure qualifier if it was on semi 2, which is such a shame. I'm so mad I can't vote for this semi to attempt to save them 🤣

3. Serbia 🇷🇸 - Nothing more to add to my original critic. He's very much bringing it.

4. Latvia 🇱🇻 - I like that, I feel like they have a lot of energy for such a "static" song but it doesn't come off weird or out place. I don't think they'll make it but I still appreciate their efforts.

5. Portugal 🇵🇹 - Okay, I wasn't as convinced as some of y'all were about Mimicat. I like the song, it's an okay song, nothing groundbreaking, but I wasn't sold on her performances, either in Festival da Cançao (am I spelling this right?) or the preparties. Well now I am 😂 she really is shining on that stage. Definitely my biggest surprise and now I feel like she's definitely going through to the Final!

6. Ireland 🇮🇪 - I mean it's okay. I like the song and there is some effort being put on the staging but yeah I think Ireland is officially going for the longest streak of non qualifications, if they haven't already owned that shit lol. I do need to talk about that golden catsuit that's giving us a lot of bulge and chest and arms and ass. Why 😂 normally I wouldn't complain... If it was worn for a different performance. I don't see sexiness fitting in a song about unity and acceptance 🤣 I mean ok maybe he's not doing it on purpose, he just has a nice body but then maybe not wear an outfit so tight, I mean literally everybody was talking about his dick after the first pics and the snippet dropped the other day, he must have seen those comments 🤣

7. Croatia 🇭🇷 - Okay, they sound a lot better than previous performances and they look outrageous. That's it. They're definitely going through but I feel like they might tank a bit more than people expect in the final. Still, they know how to put on a damn show

8. Switzerland 🇨🇭 - I like the song and I think it'll pass but I can't help but feel it's taking up a spot in the finals (Malta'sspecifically) it's not a bad song obviously but it's not super exciting either. I do appreciate Switzerland staging their ballad better this year after last year's disaster! This is what I mean "taking up space" and I feel like Switzerland is about to do it again after taking Albania out of the final last year only to get ZERO televote points in the end. Although last year it was the juries' fault so if it happens again this year then it will be your fault 🤣

9. Israel 🇮🇱 - I feel like Noa might end up doing even better than expected in the final. She is of course definitely qualifying. There's way too much kicking in the dance break so at first glance it looks a bit overdone but the more I think about it, if she's supposed to be a unicorn then Kung Fu horse-kicking kind of fits 🤣 overall, I'm not sure if this will be a Chanel level dance break, but she manages to "fix" her song's worst part. The song itself is extremely weak, both music and lyrics-wise, but she makes it work. She's easily the most gorgeous contestant this year, along with Brunette but she's not just a pretty face, she has charisma and stage presence and, unlike Alessandra, I actually enjoy her looking angry and fierce on stage, it somehow works better. The Unicorn hand sign is still cringe cringe though, this is the one part of her choreography that looks juvenile so far.

10. Moldova 🇲🇩 - Pasha knows how to work a stage alright! And they've done a great staging overall this year too. The costumes in particular are amazing. The pagan vibes are possibly even stronger than Fulenn's last year (I will never forget it's massacre!) but the staging, admittedly, looks a lot more cohesive, even with a lot more outrageous stuff going on on stage.

11. Sweden 🇸🇪 - Okaaay... I'm gonna say something I've been feeling ever since Melodifestivalen and have now confirmed with the new setup. Loreen's staging is goofy as fuck. She looks amazing herself, but the whole led sandwich thing is very goofy and now that it's smaller it looks even worse and her choreography of basically just flexing her nails north, south, east and west is... Goofy 🤣 I've seen a lot of people saying that the song itself is nothing special and that it only works thanks to the staging but tell me honestly, would that staging work if it wasn't Loreen? Would it get as much hype? Would it be projected to win the whole thing? I think not. She's obviously still gonna do well but, honestly, I'm not so sure about a win anymore.

12. Azerbaijan 🇦🇿 - They look so wholesome so it's hard for me to say anything bad about them but this staging is so lazy. I hope they at least have fun performing.

13. Czechia 🇨🇿 - I've been through a whole JOURNEY with Czechia this year. When it was first announced at their finals I was like yeah no. But in the last few months of listening to the song I absolutely fell in love with it. Then I got a bit scared by their previous rehearsal previews because I felt like it looked too simplistic but the GIRLS HAVE BROUGHT ITT. Theirs was the most satisfying to watch out of my favourites' because they just reassured me that they're gonna slay.

14. Netherlands 🇳🇱 - No girlies this is boring. Sorry. I appreciate that they're also trying to make their ballad feel less static and more interesting on stage with the spinning platform and all, but I feel like their vocals are not that great. They sound a bit like that song wasn't tailored to their own vocal capabilities and now they're trying to play catch up with whoever was supposed to sing it. I also thought their solo camera angles were off? Like Dion's closeup is much further than Mia's who's literally right in front of the camera and not centered properly too like 😬 I really like their outfits though, Mia's in particular. A few bonus points for that, but I don't think they'll make it. If only one of the slow songs is going in then I think Remo Forrer has both them and Sudden Lights outmatched.

15. Finland 🇫🇮 - I mean yeah, that still looks great. The box, Käärijä's performance, even the dances, for those few seconds we saw them when they burst out of their box had those perfectly crazy expressions. Europe is gonna eat him up, and I don't think this is just internet hype, which happens very often; some acts are hyped to death online and then they flop because their apparent fans never bothered to vote. This is not the case here. He's a showman.

What made me smile this week?

Monday, 12/30/24 - today we kept editing our vlogs and videos until the new year tomorrow we're supposed to upload! So I'm getting prepared for that and I'm pretty excited for the video because so far it looks pretty good and is going pretty well. Today was a very chill day. Today we just chilled and then we watched several videos and honestly chilled on gun idle which we rediscovered! And so far it's been keeping us content LOL I've been on the game Blacksmith way more often and have made lots of progress which I'm very proud of! Today was a chill and lazy day lol so we don't have much input!

Tuesday, 12/31/24 - today is 1 day before the new year! I am so excited for this year to end but also it's close to my son's 1 year since passing away we miss him dearly and I find myself thinking of it more but it's good to be open about it so I have worked on the final touches of the newest YouTube video coming out today but we had decided to upload it on new years day! At 1:00Am as to chart the very first video in 2025! Around 8:00 Pm we got called to play games with the family before the new year! We had a great time until Dad and Mom got drunk and then Mom started getting all annoying and went to bed early again. We have no problem with her going to bed. It was just out of nowhere and typically that means something is wrong! So we were confused but we let her sleep we called out sister mack to tell her everything that was going on because we were worried about Mom shortly Mom woke up and she had written a note saying don't bother happy new year and we were worried at this point shortly after that literally minutes later mom had woke up again and went outside with a blanket we had followed her out there to see what was wrong she didn't reply to us and was mad because we cared?? The parents ended up having a large fight there was crying and then we poured all the alcohol down the drain and then went to macks house for the night, the cute part of it all was Gizmo had balled up on my pillow and it was so adorable then Around 5Am smudge had joined me behind my back I got some sleep but not lot's of it and then we went home around 7Am and then when we got home and the parents were casually watching TV and if nothing happened. But we were ok for the rest of the day and just tried to avoid the parents most of the day. The rest of the day we just tried to enjoy and today made me smile.

Wednesday, 1/1/25 - it's now officially the new year. I want to say we had the most epic time but we didn't… and currently, we're trying to enjoy it the best we can. We have been playing games most of today and we've just been laughing at some funny moments! We had fun playing games and we didn't really do much. We apologize for this short entry but yes it has been a tough time these past day and a half and has been almost absolutely miserable… But we're making the best out of everything we could do. Happy New Year to you all. I hope your new year is going way better than ours.

Thursday, 1/2/25 - today we had a way better day our mom was still in a mood and was still slightly bitchy (sorry for the language) but we did enjoy this day way better I got a new leg mate in my chair which has been beneficial they had thought that blood polling to my limp legs all day wasn't the greatest so we decided to change and it gives less risk to my feet being less swollen! It is a good thing we had a good day of listening to Instagram audios and having a funny time talking about weird things lol thankfully today was easier than the past two days! Which is always a good thing today made me smile.

Friday, 1/3/25 - today was pretty chill. We found out about a new Earth game today and we've been playing it for a while now and have been making great progress. We've been watching so many videos of a Quadriplegics channel and we've been enjoying her videos! We've been talking about catheters and talking about very funny things LOL 🤣! Especially Emmie lol we've been having a fun time today and thankfully today was super chill again super sorry for the short entry. I've just been burnt out! I've honestly been trying to enjoy the “break” but as of currently I've uploaded 6 videos and 5 podcasts and working on the 7th videos all since December 20th which is insane! I've missed the last weekly smiles so I'm working on that! It's just so exhausting to constantly keep up with these ridiculously long ALS post-the-festive Holiday episodes, the constant four-day chemo rounds, and my wife's anniversary! It's been very hectic and I'm just waiting for it to slow down which Will hopefully come soon! But it's almost over the entire break which for me is honestly crazy! On how much of this break that I've been working… I'm super grateful for everyone's support! And today made me smile!

Saturday, 1/4/25 - today is almost the last day of our break. Today we had a pretty chill morning, we laughed, and then shortly I started my 73rd round of chemotherapy! If I'm being honest, the 70's are not doing me well… I started filming the horrific video that you all will see at 10:50 tonight which is crazy. It was honestly such a crazy video! But I've been writing the last weekly smiles and thankfully got it out and I've been writing descriptions for videos that are lacking a description but thankfully I got some of those done! And I've been working for almost 5 hours straight today which to me is honestly baffling but I'm almost done!!! Yes, freedom lol but I've been chilling and typing my entire heart out! Today has been good. It's just been very busy but today made me smile!

Sunday, 1/5/25 - today it's our brother's birthday! His big 21st we wish him a good happy birthday sadly we didn't get any footage but we did have a fun time watching him open his presents, he got a cool Transformers video game and he got vodka and blue and red liquid to make optimus prime shots I doubt he'll drink any lol but it was cool to see! He hung out most of the day with his girlfriend Nancy we mainly out the majority of the day doing the typical laundry and just chilling out for a few we helped organize moms shoes for a bit (not really an entire hour had gone by) but we got it done and then we actually had a chill day lol I filmed some content for autism and disabilities and worked on some more YouTube things like an upcoming thumbnail and things! Shortly after we heard that we had a 2-hour delay tomorrow! Which is pretty exciting! It's good to know that we get some time off of our school day! And this week which is a good thing! I am super sorry for the absence recently of the weekly smiles especially last week's but I do hope that being on time with this one will make up for the last one! 🫣But I am super grateful for you all! They met when Y/n's team was putting out the fire and Reid's team was rushing to the scene to see if their arsonists was still around. The BAU had been dragged to California because it seemed that a killer was on the lose. They couldn't figure out the connections of the victims, but they were all dying in horrible fires. It turned out that someone wasn't setting fires to kill people, just that they were setting fires that happened to kill people. There wasn't a killer on the loose. There was an arsonist.

When I say "they" I don't mean Y/n and Reid by the way. The two boys actually went way back. They'd met in Vegas at a party neither of them wanted to be at. Y/n had been going through a rough time and Reid wasn't good in social situations and they'd ended up in the same corner and just enjoyed the mutual silence. After they'd found peace in each other Y/n had rested his head on Reid's shoulder and Reid was surprised to see that it didn't bother him. They'd run into each other again at the local library of all places. There they'd exchanged names first and then numbers soon after. After that, they'd spent more and more time together. They had to work around work and school schedules (only Y/n went to school anymore, but it was still an issue) but eventually it went from hang outs to date and then suddenly they were boyfriends instead of best friends.

The "they" I meant was actually Y/n and the rest of the BAU. None of Spencer's friends knew about Y/n. It wasn't like he was ashamed or hiding anything, it was just that it never came up. Everyone assumed Spencer was single and would always be, and Spencer didn't care enough to correct them. He wasn't into PDA either so the team didn't figure it out themselves. What they could tell was that they knew each other. It was nice to see Spencer be comfortable around someone outside of work, but Spencer hated talking about his personal life so people tried to ask as little as possible.

Working together was fun though. Y/n knew him very well, down to every micro sign of each emotion. Whenever Spencer got anxious or confused or was really focused and needed to be alone, Y/n always reacted appropriately. It came with knowing him for many years. It was also very helpful when Spencer was profiling and giving information to the other firefighters to keep a look out in case they arrived when the arsonist did. The firefighters, of course, were who made up Y/n's team, as Y/n was a firefighter as well. They had lots of questions though, and even more doubt. Y/n showed very early on that he knew Spencer's capabilities, so when they got too dubious or went to interrupt him, Y/n was quick to cut them off. It made JJ, Emily, and Morgan smile.

One day Morgan prodded. He walked up to Y/n, leaning against the wall next to the boy. "How far back do you and Reid go?"

Y/n was drinking water so he finished his gulp before answering. "Further back then Reid being in the BAU," Y/n responded. "I was still in high school He wasn't, of course, but-" He shrugged, chuckling. "We both lived in Vegas for a while. The relationship carried even when we moved away."

Morgan nodded. "You like him?"

"I'd like to think so." Y/n tried to hide a smile. He could tell them that he was Spencer's boyfriend, but what was the fun in that? "I'd even say I was in love with him."

That seemed to surprise Morgan. "Oh." He looked at Reid and then Y/n, obviously confused. If Y/n was so sure of his feelings, why did it seem like they were just friends? "Does Reid feel the same?"

Y/n considered that. "I don't know. I don't think Spencer and I have ever been on the same emotional playing field. Usually when I feel one thing he's feeling something else... But even then, no one ever seems to feel the same way about each other." Y/n shook his head. "I'm a psychology major, ignore me. What you want to know is if Spencer loves or likes me or whatever. But I can't speak for him." With that, Y/n left and Morgan only had more questions. Were they together or not?

His question was answered on one very bad night that almost cost Reid everything.

Lina Mare was a local sweetheart. She was kind of quiet and shy, but she liked Y/n. They were friends at least - Lina was in college. Y/n seemed to have a knack of befriending awkward, shy, or quiet people. People that couldn't quite get along with anyone else. So when she came into the fire station that day, it wasn't totally weird. She'd never visited Y/n at work before, but that didn't stop Y/n from greeting her when she came in. Nothing else was going on- why not?

She looked upset though. "Hey, you okay Lee?" He asked, touching her shoulder.

The girl leaned into his touch and his eyebrows came together, wondering if maybe she felt dizzy. Her eyes were clear though and her expression was set and clear. Her features were sharp and her gaze was like someone running a knife along his skin. Dangerous and seconds from doing damage. "I'm not," she told him. "I need you to stop, Y/n."

Y/n looked at one of his teammates behind her head. They made eye contact and the other man stood at the ready in case he needed to act. Y/n had a very bad feeling about what was happening. He didn't know why, he just felt like something bad was about to happen. "Stop what?" He asked her softly.

Lina looked right into his eyes, seeming to see something amazing. Her gaze softened, but didn't become any less dangerous. Just a little more uncontrolled. "The fires. You can't stop them. You have to stop putting them out."

It clicked immediately in Y/n's head. He looked at Lina's hands, still in her pockets. "Why don't we go outside and-?"

"No," Lina snapped, tugging out of his reach. "You have to stop putting them out!"

"Okay," Y/n cooed, putting both of his hands up so she could see that he was unarmed. He recalled everything Spencer had ever taught him. Anything he'd been told about in stories, or things Spencer had complained people often did wrong. "Can I at least let my friends go outside?"

She considered that a second before nodding. "But we stay."

"Okay," Y/n assured. He looked at the other fireman he'd warned before. Daniel. "Take everyone outside, will you please? Make sure everyone is there that needs to be." Daniel nodded before running off. Thankfully people trusted Y/n's judgment. Soon the building was empty. "Why don't you take your hands out of your pockets, Lina?" He knew they'd call the police. If he stalled long enough no one would get hurt. He'd gotten as many people safe as he could. Now he had to keep Lina calm until they could solve this.

A sigh came from the younger girl but she agreed. In one hand she had a lighter. Now that it was free of her pocket, she flicked it on and off every few seconds. "You're so oblivious, you know that?" She moved further into the fire station, toward the back of the truck.  Y/n followed, wanting to keep her in sight so she couldn't do anything too stupid. "You don't get anything."

"What did I miss Lina?" Y/n asked, trying to stay casual.

She rolled her eyes. "I'm in love with you." Y/n froze, both because of her word and also because she'd stopped down and hooked her fingers around a canister of gasoline. She vegan to move back into the building and when he didn't follow, she snapped, "Come on." He swallowed before obeying. She was getting agitated and he didn't want to set her off. She began to pour out the can all over the floor.

"Wait Lina-" She turned on her lighter and let it hover over the pouring gas. Y/n stopped dead in his tracks.

"You know Y/n I've tried for months." She let her lighter out, but kept it at the ready. "I tried everything to get you to realize how I felt about you. But you just kept laughing and it was so frustrating. I thought, it wouldn't help to be mad at you all the time. I'd have no time that way. So I did something I haven't done in a long time. I managed to keep myself under control for years. But you made me so angry, I had to let it out some way. So I burned. Little things."

Y/n's jaw hardened. "You killed people."

"I KNOW!" Lina sneered. "It wasn't on purpose! But fire is alive, Y/n. And it has wants and needs. And it grows. Who am I to stop it?" Y/n felt his stomach turn. "Then you made it even worse. You came rushing in every time and put them out. And suddenly I had a new reason to be angry. I'd almost forgotten about you. Until I saw your stupid, pretty face through the window and realized you were one of these stupid people putting my fires out. Of all people, OF COURSE it had to be you, huh?" She scoffed and Y/n's mind raced as he tried to figure out how to stop this. Lina went back and got three more cans, pouring those out too. Y/n could do nothing, as she kept her lighter at the ready. The whole floor was covered in oil now and her lighter was alight. "So I figured, get rid of the problem you know? No more fire fighters. No more you. No more me."

Fuck.

Y/n began moving to her. She tried to move away, but he forced a smile. "What, you're scared of me now? What am I going to do? I'd never hurt you Lina, you know that." She relaxed again. "I was just thinking, you know, I feel the same way." He tried not to cringe at the words. He was like seven years older than her and had a boyfriend but SURE, he liked her too. He knew that he had to get her to calm down. Trust him. He'd heard it a million times from Spencer. You give them what they want until you find your opening.

Her eyes widened in surprise. "You do?"

Nodding, Y/n chuckled softly. "Of course I do. I just thought, I'm too old for you. Of course you'd never like me back. If I had known... Well, like you said, I'm completely oblivious."

She giggled, her eyes watering. "I knew it. Everyone said that you were into that- that- that weird guy from the FBI. But I KNEW we were made for each other." They were close now. The lighter was out and Y/n was inches from getting it out of her hand. Then she did something that totally knocked him off of his feet. They heard sirens and she ignored them, because of course why would the police be after her? She ignored them and she kissed Y/n and he was so stunned that he almost forgot about the lighter.

Finally Y/n's fingers closed around the lighter and he yanked it from her grip. She pushed him away and they parted. She shoved the lighter in his back pocket, moving to her quickly and wrapping her arms around her to force her to be still. She thrashed and kicked until they ended up with Y/n on his back, arms and legs all wrapped around her to keep her firmly in place even as she screamed and moved her head. It meant, unfortunately, that Y/n's face was nearly completely in the oil.

When the door finally opened and police came in, Y/n was relieved to let her go. His head was spinning and his vision was blurring as his eyes burned. She was handcuffed and taken away and he ignored what she was saying as she screamed at him.

It was Morgan who pulled Y/n to his feet and out of the oil. Who questioned him and got him a towel to wipe off as much oil as he could. Who got him outside and to clean air and who kept everyone back as Y/n processed what just happened and got real air into his lungs.Morgan finally got the story piece by piece and then took it to the others. That was when Reid finally got to his boyfriend.

Y/n leaned away from his touch. Then he started crying, his head full of images of him burning to death. Or Lina burning to death, screaming for him as she did so. Or, even worse, both of them burning to death together. Holy shit...

"She kissed me," Y/n choked out, covering his mouth.

"What can I do to help you?" Spencer asked softly, his eyes wide with worry.

Y/n shook his head before looking at him. "How can you forgive me?"

That seemed to confuse Spencer. "Forgive you for what?"

"She kissed me," he reiterated. "I let her."

Spencer tried not to laugh. "Y/n you were in a stressful situation and because of that, you got the lighter away from her. Because of it, you're safe..." He shook his head, moving closer to take Y/n's face in his hands. "Listen to me. I know I don't say it enough, but I love you, Y/n. Kissing her didn't mean anything other than you being safe today and that is all I care about. I don't even know who would ever consider that cheating. Don't be an idiot." He smiled and Y/n did as well. Spencer wiped the tears off his face. "Now can I take my turn and kiss you or do you need more space?"

Y/n laughed before pulling his boyfriend close by the belt loops. Their noses brushed a second before they finally kissed. It lifted the weird imaged out of his head and the weight off his chest. He was okay. Everyone was okay. That's all that mattered.

"So you guys ARE dating then?" The men looked over to see Emily there, JJ next to her.

"Yes," Spencer answered as if it was the most obvious thing ever. Emily looked at Y/n and then at JJ and then JJ and Y/n looked at each other and suddenly they were all laughing. After the stressful showdown from before, it was nice to laugh. It made Y/n feel better, and everyone seemed to sense that. Unfortunately, just because Spencer understood the laughing helped, he couldn't get why they were laughing at all. "I don't get it. What's so funny?"

They just kept laughing.

oh man I been sharing memes this whole time but I just sat down to watch Dune and... yeah... as predicted: Vileneuve gave into self seriousness & in so doing deliberately shied away from fun aesthetics like Lynch had because he's a cornball who thinks desaturated minimalism is more artistically legitimate than color or innovative costume/character design (cinematography & framing is lovely, not mad at the spaceship designs, and tbh the sound design is STELLAR, but it MUST be said)

but it is tricky because while Vileneuve's obviously crafted a technically superior film, I can't tell if it's more racist than Lynch's or just feels more racist due to less weirdness on top to distract from the weirdness of how the Fremen are both written & discussed (like Lynch playing up the mysticism means it's a much more played straight white savior narrative, but the Fremen being like, "no, you're The Guy, The Guy from The Prophecy," is less... off-color... when the Bene Geserrit Kwisatz Haderach stuff is more central to the thrust of the story & it all goes uncriticized, but Vileneuve emphasizing the politics highlights the Fremen as the ones looking for a white savior, and it's very shades of "superstitious natives being weirdly worshipful of a guy who happens to be The Guy," and retaining the criticism of the imperial colonial model + the "this is actually why you specifically shouldn't put ANY guy on a pedestal" points works well with the overarching political themes, but it also definitely imo diminishes the Fremen, more than Lynch's does, to Paul's cheerleaders, supporting act, and Orientalist, Exotic Mystic, Noble Savage, sovereignty-subplot-footnote props)...

and despite that as a narrative issue, the movie's good, or at least, not irredeemably bad... but I can't tell yet if Lynch's is more fun, or again, if it just feels more fun because it feels weirder & less racist, or if it's a nostalgia thing, or if Vileneuve's will eventually get fun (even if not equally, just a different fun) once we get more Chani + Alia.

He came back. The stupid dog came back, yet in their hearts there was nothing like hate or anger at the sight of the severely damaged dog.

No, on the contrary, there was pity inside them mixed with somewhat of a relief.

Well, don't get me wrong, they hate your dog still, he is nothing more than an immense rock in their path yet there is something so, well, "heartwarming" about seeing you reunited.

It's so fun to see their loved one so happy even if it's because of… That dog.

You didn't come out of your room at all that day, you just wanted to be with your friend and take care of him, you took first-aid kits on medbay to take care of his untreated wounds. Buddy came back all patched up yet whoever did it clearly didn't do a good job at it in the first place! You were glad someone at least tried to help, yet there was something very worrying about his condition-

If someone tried to fix him up, it was because he was hurt in the first place. Buddy is a smart boy yet he wouldn't be able to properly recover those wounds on his own.

So when you brought the topic to them, you didn't expect a small hand be raised in such a excited way- M.Red was so proud of his work despite the fact he doesn't know anything about treating a wounded space animal, and honestly he didn't care- He saw it all as a fun game, in his eyes finding the dog in such a small and convenient finding place was nothing but a fun game, he not only found a good hiding spot to play hide and seek with Black, but also the dog, which he only saw as a toy.

To put it promptly, Buddy was waiting to die by the hands of the gremlin child, yet he was delightfully surprised to see the child so excited about helping him get his wounds treated, despite the fact they did it for their own twisted little amusement. At least the kid liked him more than his parents did.

Both of his parents were hesitant in letting you know that their kid had found the dog before you did, since it could be considered kinda weird for their kid to be able to find your dog in a isolated tiny spot of the spaceship that was completely off the cameras view and only accessible by the ventilation system- They lied about their child randomly founding the dog walking around instead of actually founding the filthy thing's hiding place.

No one can go in the vents unless they were small or a shapeshifting monster, and their child just happened to be both at the same time-

Either way, after finally being reunited with your dog, everyone expected things to go back to normal, even Buddy seemed tired of this nonsense, yet things never did go back to the way they were.

It was interesting how much of an impact you had on your crew. People didn't give you that much attention, yet whenever you changed your behavior it seemed to take over the entire mood of the ship. You may be thinking I'm exaggerating, yet it's not hard to believe it, is it?

After all, think about it, your dog just came back hurt from something that has done a great deal of damage to him. Something or someone made him hide away from everyone else so he could catch a break.

Buddy was a brave boy yet he was careful enough to see when a fight wasn't worth fighting. Buddy ran away and managed to hide for so long, he must have seen something or someone that was capable of scaring him from even coming back unprepared.

You mentioned that at your meeting and everyone seemed shocked at your claims, and even more surprised by how you sounded so… Angry. You sounded like someone that was calm now, yet was holding enough anger to fight anyone if not everyone in the cafeteria if they gave you the smallest hints of being the one that has hurted your doggie.

Even though he was kinda weirded out by your demeanor, the poor thing thought that he had caused you so much pain that him coming back wasn't the best thing he should have done. You were the same person as when he ran away, yet you sounded so mad…

And you rightfully were. You have been beating yourself up and feeling depressed thinking your sweet boy has died and when he comes back he is wounded to the point of not being able to walk properly. You have every right to want to beat the shit of whoever did this, even if they weren't human to begin with.

You felt like you had every right to judge every single person sitting in front of you, anyone in this room could have hurted Buddy and you knew it. The arguing was so strong that you had to be calmed down by Red, Black and Buddy at the same time.

One person in particular seemed to be pointing you out as "obviously the killer" that has orchestrated this whole charade as a way to throw everyone off, you almost did slap a bitch that day-

Others seem to understand your condition. You literally just lost your dog and he came back all bloodied and wounded. You were hurt and pissed at whoever the culprit was, even if you weren't sure of who it was.

And there was a strong intuition indicating that maybe the culprit that hurted your dog, was also the monster going around killing your crewmates. But sadly, Buddy has also changed after the incident.

Buddy didn't seem to recognize who.was the culprit, and if he could have blamed Red and Black, he knew that it was neither of them that had attacked him. Someone else has taken him by surprise, and was smart enough to cover their scent and human disguise, so he wouldn't recognize them if he managed to get away. Which he is glad he did, yet he is afraid he won't be of any help this time around.

He could blame Red and Black, since clearly they were going around killing everyone, but he somehow knew that they weren't involved with his case. He felt like it would be unfair to put the blame on them for his case in particular, they should still be thrown off of the spaceship but not for him.

But for all the different people they killed along the way.

And also… Maybe he did feel pity for the child, maybe he just felt like he was in debt with the kid for helping him out- Maybe if the circumstances were different he could have been friends with the little rascal (if the child had also decent parents and a therapist-).

You seemed to have noticed how Buddy hasn't openly barked at anyone, how he hasn't pointed anyone out yet, which was a little disheartening since it meant that this would be a lot harder than expected, yet you hadn't given up yet, you were determined to make justice for your dog, for everyone that had died.

Some of your crew were with you, some weren't, yet you didn't care at all- You would make sure to take care of your boy with more love and affection, you won't let this happen to him ever again.

And while you had found some sort of hope from this situation, Red and Black were concerned if not freaked out at the idea that someone else had started a hunting spree, and apparently with you and your dog as their target.

Red had asked their son if he was the one to hurt the canine, yet he said that he found him like that, hurt and bleeding. Black was feeling anxious as he couldn't smell the scent of someone of his kind hiding in between them, I'd they were also disguising themselves, it meant that they were being extra careful by flooding themselves with extra scents to blend in with everyone else.

This was way more than concerning, it meant they were in danger, you were in danger! And the culprit was being one step ahead from everyone else, since they have probably already found out about Black being an alien that has also invaded the ship, and that Red and M.Red were involved with the killings.

There were apparently three imposters among your crewmates.

When Mikasa ended her live, they both got out of the recording studio and went inside the room where everyone was, she was now getting lots of shocked looks which made her go like 😳 "Y-you guys—"

And Hanji (no I didn't forget she was with them) beamed at her and was like, "Mhm! You didn't tell us you could sing!"

Mikasa was then blushing like mad and looked at Sasha who smiled sheepishly and went on her way to the kitchen.

Jean was trying to keep his inner peace and not go all like, "AKNCJDSNJNABSJ" (ofc he fails and he left the place)

The people who knew, are just stiffling their laughters right now because (manisfesting EreMika) Eren is literally looking at her with a 'how come I do not know about this?' look and glanced at Armin.

Armin just grinned and shrugged.

Mikasa then left the room to go to the kitchen—maybe to scold Sasha or something—because SHE clearly didn't expect this.

She only has an idea that Armin, Connie, Zeke, Annie and Sasha knew about her ✨talent✨ in singing.

She went to the kitchen for some iced tea and glared at Sasha who grinned while eating her favorite chips, PRINGLESSSS (can I have some too?)

She just sighed and continued.

To be honest she had fun with it and decided she should do more of these when she's free of work (because everyone now knows so there's no turning back now)

In the future, she'll probably do more of those live singing or cover song vids. (She clearly loves singing and it relieves herself when stressed— and so she won't get bored and stop all her videos about how she's so bored asf lmaoo)

Character I would be best friends with: you know I'm not sure, but in an ideal world Lafayette (both versions) or Ben but I feel like we wouldn't be best friends. But also everyone, is that an option? Even some of the "villains" would have good stories to tell

A random thought: I feel like most people in the fandom now are so new (they joined in with the movie release!) and unaware of the uh atrocities of back in the day. And y'all are lucky, but those of us who know. Know. (yes, I was unbearable but that's ok because I was having fun, and despite what I just said: have fun in your fandoms even if you're "unbearable", just keep it welcome to all and enjoy the enthusiasm you have for it:))

An unpopular opinion: Oh boy. Maybe stop making quick judgments about people based on what they write/who they ship? There is a line, but I've genuinely never seen it crossed by anyone at least openly sooo just let people have fun? And don't say anything about something? Unless it's actually harmful but even then, keep it to a dm or something and have an open discussion. Just let people vibe, please? Especially younger fans. Just, I’ve seen a weird amount of negativity towards them. They’re kids having fun, we all used to be like that so please, be kind and patient. They’ll learn if they make a mistake. Ok? Ok cool:) (maybe not unpopular but still I wanted to say it)

Characters I feel the writers screwed up (in one way or another): um. Where to begin? Honestly I think every woman in Turn at one point or another, except perhaps Peggy in my opinion. Oh but especially Anna. Also Simcoe. With Hamilton, probably again everyone at some point, but the way Angelica was written just feels so overwhelmingly fictional it bugs me. (But at least Hamilton had some genuine relationships between women, not great but still)

Favorite friendship(s): Ben and Caleb, Washington and Lafayette (what?? yes, you fools. lol). It may sound a tad ~cringey~ but I generally like Hamilton's vibe with the boys, maybe it's just the gender envy, but it's kinda cute and fun.

Character I most identify with: well jeez, I won't lie but Washington. In both versions, except god knows I could never be that chill. Also a dash of Laurens.

Character I wish I could be: wow what a loaded question ummm. I don't want to be like him, but I want to be like in his position so Hamilton lol. Playing an active role but I know personally I am not cut out for a battlefield, so a desk suits me well.

A random thought: y’all it’s been so long since I’ve touched MCU I should catch up/refresh shouldn’t I?

An unpopular opinion: I don’t know if this is an unpopular opinion but I’m going to say it anyway. Personally, I really don’t like the movie Civil War, I think it’s what sorta made me disinterested in mcu. It’s been years since I’ve watched it so maybe I would have a completely different opinion if I saw it today, but at the time it just felt so...wrong? And childish? I literally don’t even remember why they were fighting or how that movie even ended (I feel like it just wasn’t satisfying??) but I think also, as a kid or teen watching that, it reminded me sooo much of the dumb drama that, you know, kids get into. I mean, getting your friends on someone’s side like that?? Like, I know they were mad but- but there are other ways of dealing with emotions??? And involving everyone's friends too? So yeah, it just felt off to me at the time, and looking back now, from what I remember, it just frustrated me. Especially as a kid who deals with dumb drama like that all the time, kids would want to see a better example especially from adult superheroes or at least not be reminded of the bs they have to go through sometimes. But, rant over, that’s all just my opinion:)

Favorite friendship: Wanda and Pietro!! Honestly I think a lot, there were a lot of good friendships but I can’t think of which ones are my favorite

3. Washette (ship-bless you<3 get ready for rambles oh no)

When I started shipping them: So I first had the thought in 7th grade while my history teacher was talking about them and my little brain went: haha that’s pretty gay. (teacher keeps talking about them) wait a fucking minute, that is pretty gay! But it wasn’t until I got sucked into Hamilton that I really started actively shipping them by reading fics and what not, but something about them became an instant favorite. And later (little personal story time) I pretty much completely stopped reading fic and being active in fandom for years and actually, when I got my first panic attack that - no joke - lasted for 5 hours, for some reason my brain (as it’s decaying lol) said I want to go and reread all my favorite washette fics and also do what I was I always too scared to do. Write!! So that night I binged the fics and found myself falling in love again, feeling all the old passion I had for them again, and the next night (still very shaken) I wrote an outline of a good ol washette confession + kiss that was extremely thoughtful and good, and honestly, I have not actually used that outline yet! Maybe I’m saving it. But yeah, this is a long answer, but I have a weird amount of attachment to them and this ship, I wish I knew why too. <3 

My thoughts: so many. Too many. First of all, I love that I have so many versions of them in my mind, right? When I started writing, I had never watched Turn but then I did and then it was like: hell yeah, another washette set. At this point, my brain has created it’s own unique version of them but it’s like, they’re so versatile! That’s one neat thing about this fandom as a whole, we get more than one character and personality and that’s just fun right?! More specifically on washette I mean, they’re just so sweet. Historically, their relationship is unique and cute, and you’d have to be a fool to think that to Washington Lafayette was just another friend. Even strictly platonically, it was something special and it’s so obvious I just love them. Ok. Enough thoughts for now <3

What makes me happy about them: the loooove, the comfort they found in each other, the fact that like every person at the time documenting them knew and understood they were special to each other like, they were just that in love. 

What makes me sad about them: oh so much that I try to ignore lol. There is the one year when Lafayette went to France and all his letters to Wash are like: “I have not received one letter from you, but it’s ok, I love you and I know you love me too :)” WHO WAS NOT DELIVERING THESE LETTERS, I HAVE NAMES, NOW I WANT ANSWERS. Anyway, also just most things that happened when Laf went back to France. And then when he visited America in 1824 and visited Washington’s grave. Yeah. ow. (also, you know what, I have done too much research on this event. lmk if you would like a post)

Things done in fanfic that annoy me: Generally, I’m not annoyed by much in fanfic at least with them and what I’ve seen. I’m still nostalgic for the old school nonbinary Laf fics, so it ain’t those. Literally maybe it’s because I’m starved for content but I can’t really think of anything, I love it all.

Things I look for in fanfic: back to the whole starved for content thing, I am a library of washette fics but I think if I was to pick a certain thing that I would love it’s just um fluff? And honesty, if that makes sense. Love confessions are very good as well. Canon era, please :) pining but not too much that it hurts me lol

My wishlist: literally all my wips. If I could whisk them into existence I could die happy and knowing I have put a variety of washette content in the world. Something else though, more fics :’) I love writing but sometimes I want to curl up with a cozy, new washette fic like a cup of hot chocolate and be surprised and learn something new and just..yeah:)

Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: what. Ok but actually, Martha and Adrienne because they are both honestly perfect for them and I love them too (I’m going to be biased, especially Adrienne)

My happily ever after for them: Can Lafayette just move the family to America? But also, it’s sad, but like I know Laf would be sad in America while France suffers. So...maybe a world where things in France go better and Lafayette gets to visit Washington more often and bring the family!! (Washington visit France too??)

4. Anna Strong (character)

How I feel about this character: I like her! She’s fun and…strong (oops lol) and she’s made some mistakes sure, but I feel like she did her best to learn from them and move on

Any/all the people I ship romantically with this character: Honestly, I know they didn’t have a lot of interaction in the show but Anna/Mary has potential. And Anna/Edmund

My favorite non-romantic relationship for this character: her and Ben and Caleb

My unpopular opinion about this character: I really can’t think of anything unpopular

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: in general, her having more screen time with less men you know? I mean like one-on-one kind of scenes. Also I would’ve liked to see at least her and Selah talk. Like, really talk. They never really did that, right? I just have so many questions about them
