Every so often I drift back to the overlord anime but I can never stay for long because it's a good 70% smut with the succubus and 20% side character drama that never goes anywhere. It's a similar premise to svsss, in that a modern guy accidentally gets sucked into a fictional fantasy world he was obsessed with as the villain with a group of people and a place he rules over and wants to protect, and his paranoia/procrastination combo strategises his way to victory.
So of course I thought, 'let's get our dear old scum villain (affectionate) in here'.
Cuz i'mma be real sy would make an infinitely more interesting panicking lich king. Take off that emotion nullification, for starters.
A) pidw was a vr mmorpg with a vast, overarching storyline of the rising emperor lbh, whom players could battle or wed for rewards. A respawning final boss of such strength it took a world wide unified invasion of top players to fell. When sy gets pulled into pidw and all the npcs come to life, so too does lbh, who is very confused as to what happened but remembers sy as one of the players who fronted the invasion (having dug up every nugget of lore on lbh and using that vast knowledge in strategy) and carries an immense grudge that eventually turns into love as he gets to know sy. Sqh is there too, of course, the uncredited game dev who made lbh and his right hand man mbj, who's own base in the north got retaken when mbj also resurrected and is having his own worrisome love story.
B) sy and sqh are in the same guild, named cq, and the demons are sqhs overly detailed npc. Lbh works as the guardian overseer, aka the head npc, and as they wait for the game to shut down sy sneakily makes a joke in lbhs character sheet about him loving sy. They get sucked in, the characters come to life, and sy spends the time he isn't using panicking about the situation, five dimensional politicking, or protecting the base being in denial about the whole lbh thing (and his no homo) and feeling DEEPLY guilty (and hiding it from sqh). Lbh, of course, now having free will, thinks about it a bit and decides to fall madly in love with his kind, gentle, soft hearted lich king boss in spite of his loyalty to his creator. Sqh goes 'dude, wtf' and so goes a very long back and forth as sy tries and fails to come up with the right code of ethics to deal with this insane situation he inadvertently created, meanwhile lbh is strategising how one could feasibly get railed by a skeleton and being the Best Housewife Right Hand Man Ever. And get headpats in the process.
C) sy was part of the xianxia themed cq guild, and everyone (the peak lords) got sucked into either ygddrassil (overlord world) or pidw (svsss). Basically, all the peak lords are millennials old friends running around trying to deal with the consequences of their role play and finally getting to try out the fancy food and drink. I love this one because everyone would be really comfortable with each other, lots of slang and in jokes, a well oiled team stuck in a crazy situation together with ridiculously powerful characters each and every one, and you could have sj as a member! Sy could be the beast tamer peak lord. It'd be so interesting to see what they'd class and subclass as. Sy might still be a lich, but Yqy would be a really interesting choice! Him and sj would definitely still have history though... Hulijing, wood elf, bamboo spirit, human, who knows!
D) sy spent a few years as the lich king guild leader in ygddrassil (I'm definitely not spelling it right), bored by the lack of anything interesting, before the system intervened (maybe as a remnant of the original game interface?) and whisked him off to svsss. Post canon he gets either revealed as an imposter or there's some past life wife plot (some animal that was a boobacious beauty in its past life getting cursed to switch between them?) that turns sy into his old big bad lich overlord form, which is hilariously incongruent with his personality but utterly terrifying and anathema to the jianghu, but lbh is now having to crane his neck back and desperately trying to figure out how to get dommed. Everyone is fully convinced this is sy's og body, and not some modern human one they don't even get to see.
E) sy gets yoinked by system and when lbh (and maybe some others?) catch up a few years later he's in the skeleton body in ygddrassil dabbling in world domination and very eager to see them. The npcs get introduced and draw many incorrect conclusions.

in light of the deeply unsurprising cancellation of that "the winchesters" show, some supernatural spinoffs i would actually watch are:
gabriel's time as loki with the norse mythological figures, all while trying his best to forget being an archangel, which he fails at. badly. i'm imagining this as a very "better call saul" type of beast (mostly in tone, but i do think gabriel and jimmy have similar stories) that begins with him faking his death after the fall of lucifer and ends with his appearance in tall tales. i want to see pre-series castiel and "loki" accidentally crossing paths.
absolutely anything about THE HALF-DEMON ANTICHRIST who is apparently chilling somewhere in australia to this very day after receiving 1 episode of coverage and never being mentioned again even once?!??! the LITERAL ANTICHRIST is just. OUT THERE. we need a show about jesse turner living in australia and dealing with the supernatural/hunters living there. i don't care what it is. show us the antichrist going to macca's plz!!!
i don't know what the plot could be in a spinoff about rufus, but i want a spinoff about rufus. he's fun and i want to see what happened in omaha.
something like "the office" but it's crowley working his way up to become the king of hell, then Suffering trying to run it very bureaucratically while dealing with all of salmon dean's world-ending bullshit on the side. he just wants to be loved, man.
something like "the backyardigans" (including the musical aspect) but it's michael and adam entertaining each other after becoming friends while they're stuck in the cage with nothing to do but play with their memories and use their imaginations. i know this concept would go absolutely nowhere substantial, i just think it'd be hilarious. very crackfic-y + possibly dark if the cage begins corrupting them somehow? like wandavision (i have never seen wandavision).
literally anything else that isn't beating the dead horse known as the winchester family... there are so many good characters with immense spinoff potential who are blessed to not bear the winchester name

SHIPPING INFO. answer the following for your muse(s) so people know how shipping works on your blog.
What’s your OTP for your Muse(s)?
I will always ship Ginran above all else, but Aigin is lovely too and has some spice to it -- and I could be convinced to dabble in other pairings considering activity's been sparse from my shipping partners (not their fault, life's tiring and I'm barely here too!) and Gin's a social butterfly. I've opened my eyes to the potential for Gin and Izuru, but on my terms and not at all in the fanon's direction. Ultimately people shouldn't try to ship with me unless they're mentally prepared for their character to be constantly contesting against Rangiku in terms of their importance to Gin. As a sidenote; Shipping Gin with an OC is nearly impossible, as he requires knowing someone since the dawn of time to ever consider developing feelings for them, and I'm not too keen on people inserting their OCs into my character's past solely to avoid doing the heavy lifting of courtship.
What are you willing to RP when it comes to shipping?
I'm not afraid of dipping into the toxicity of certain dynamics, nor am I one to ignore the cruelty that Gin can exude -- he's manipulative, possessive, and altogether a murderous obsessed freak. No amount of unconventional devotion can hide the darker parts of him, though I am also one to enjoy writing Gin experiencing and attempting domesticity and the softness that comes with it. I'm flexible.
How large does the age gap have to be to make it uncomfortable?
Shinigami age-gap discussions are tricky, especially the whole 'Tite forgot how old this person was / how ageing works' undertones with some of his characters (Hiyori is the same age as Gin????? Hello?), but basically I don't want anything to do with creepy shit, thanks. If Gin can comfortably punt your character into the stratosphere because they're snack-sized then he doesn't want them sexually or in any manner.
Are you selective when shipping?
ABSOLUTELY. Gin can get the ick, no matter how hypocritical he is for getting it, simply because your character didn't reply 'right' to his throwaway comment. Gin gets bored easily; if your character isn't as smart or smarter than him (and I mean that in a cunning / well-rounded way, not a 'this character knows everything that could possibly be known about the development of spoons throughout history' or some sort of thesaurus-vomit of them trying to sound super smart to him, he'll immediately become violently unimpressed he'd sooner gut himself with Shinso than finish a conversation with them) or your character is immensely weaker than him, then he isn't interested. Gin requires being challenged. Both Rangiku and Aizen challenge Gin pretty outright in different ways. Keep him on his toes, push and pull at him, make him want to pick you apart. Don't bore him.
How far do steamy moments have to go before they’re considered NSFW?
I don't tend to tag things until it's literally inappropriate if it was a visual medium instead. Kissing and clothed touching, even if in raunchy positions, aren't NSFW to me -- I expect everyone following me to understand my blog is an adult space. Tags won't come out till genitals get involved. If people read the written word 'nipple' over your shoulder from ten feet away and get you into hot water then you gotta tell me where they get their superior hawk-esque eyesight from, I'd like a slice.
Who are other muses you ship your muse with?
Just Rangiku and Aizen for now, but as I said before I am opening up to the potential for Gin and Izuru. Gin and Byakuya is hilarious, too, and I've made jokes in the past about Gin and Kenpachi. Pfft. It's hard to ship Gin with other female characters in Bleach considering Orihime's a human teenager, no thanks, and Rukia hates his guts and Gin clearly didn't like her either so it'd be a hateship purely, Harribel and Gin never exchange actual canon dialogue, Unohana is way older than him and probably thinks he's an amateur at murderous intent, the Zero Squad ladies only exist after he's canonly dead, Hinamori's a whole child and is traumatized by his Aizen-killing/not killing stunt, Tatsuki is a lesbian human teenager, Soifon is laughably a lesbian so pent up she might explode if a man ever tries to lay a hand on her, Yoruichi is too close to / complicit with Hogyoku-maker Urahara Kisuke whom Gin loathes for inspiring Aizen to steal a piece of Rangiku's soul, Nemu is too busy being Mayuri's... whatever the fuck, Isane would faint if Gin opened his eyes once at her, Hiyori is literally split in half by him and she's a literal child, Yachiru is a literal child, Lisa is also at least bi-woman preference if not fully a lesbian, Kukaku probably hates Gin's guts ever since he lopped off Jidanbo's arm at the gate because that's a sore subject for her, Kiyone is a literal child, Sung-sun is too boringly quiet and weak for his tastes, Loly isn't quiet enough and is too weak, Apacci is even worse, Mila Rose is on thin ice too, all of the Femritters are introduced after Gin's dead so we'll never know for sure if he'd even tolerate their girlbosses-don't-look-at-explosions-then-get-stupidly-defeated act, oh god who am I forgetting -- I want y'all to know I had to stop here to Google it and for some reason in the list of all female Bleach characters, somehow, Omaeda is on the list at the very bottom.... congratulations on your transition <333
Anyway long story short I don't think Gin's very compatible with the existing female Bleach cast, hence my various male/male ships instead. Gin's fluid. I acknowledge and approach shipping with the assumption that most if not all Bleach canons probably think Gin's gross or deplorable or both. But hey, I have a soft spot for writing enemies-to-lovers.
Does one have to ask to ship with you?
Yes because otherwise I'll just stew in the possibilities and assume it's one-sided and never bring anything up 'cause I don't wanna freak people out. But please keep in mind I am very picky because Gin himself is even pickier. You may be rejected ultimately, and it's really not something that's personal with me. A better approach would be the age-old, tried and true method of jokingly saying 'wouldn't it be funny if they caught feelings?' at me and then we spiral together from there. I'm not open for that currently, but in the future perhaps.
How often do you like to ship?
I kinda wanna only ship things if it's been earned -- we put in the work, things escalated naturally, and then we're exploring the dynamic thoroughly from there instead of just jumping to the juiciest parts first. I am a patient person, Gin is too, we're not about to pounce on somebody just because they stuck their leggy up real high. I'm a previously single-ship-only kinda guy, I yearn for that commitment.
Are you multiship?
I am duo-ship at the moment, with the possibility of opening up from that in the future -- so technically yes. I approach things though with a strict refusal to write cheating, so everything is a separate verse. Gin isn't sleeping with Rangiku and then tiptoeing to Aizen's room after, I refuse to do that sort of shit. Gin's all-or-nothing and so am I, so expect that if I ever do multiship -- it'll probably not be willy-nilly, I'll be severely selective.
Are you ship obsessed or ship more-or-less?
Daydreaming about dynamics is my bread and butter. I'll be cooking up entire scenarios on my own while watching paint dry, my mind knows no limits and the links to musing posts/quotes/aesthetics/tiktoks that make me think of our characters together merely scratch the surface. If a ship hits right it consumes me.
What is your favorite ship in your current fandom?
I'm a sucker for Ginran, Aigin, Ulquihime, Shunuki, Ichiruki, Grimmjow and anybody really, Ichihime, Mayuri and permanent death, Ishihime, Rangiku and genuine happiness, whatever the ship name for Urahara and Yoruichi is, Aizen and touching grass instead of committing atrocities. I could be down for Gin and Izuru, I also think Kenpachi and Byakuya make a funny / cute pair. I'd also die for the ship I have with @madestars with their OC Hotaru and Gin's daughter Keiko.
Finally, how does one ship with you?
Hit me on the head with a brick irl.

Of the Minion Quirks you have made: Skeletal, Sprout, School Fish, Checkmate, Claymation, Colony, Cephalosquad, Rat Pack, Spyder, Reservoir, Drone On, Look Out, Monarch, Crow's Nest, War Droid, Crone Drone, Stand Out Hexoskeleton, Head Case, Constrict, and Army Men. Can you rank which Quirks would you want if you were to be a Hero?
Oh, it's been a while since someone asked me about this. Always fun to think about how I'd use my own Quirks. Though I'm going to narrow this down to the Quirks I have the most to say about and would want instead of going over all the ones I wouldn't want.
War Droid: If I was picking any of these for purely combat roles, this would be an easy option. It's something I could easily control from afar, such as putting it into a hazardous environment or fighting a dangerous foe, letting me act as a hero with as little risk to myself as possible. Probably one of the easier ones to train, which is a plus.
Crow's Nest: Ignoring the fact that I would immensely enjoy having an army of pet corvids, I just like the utility this offers. The scouting potential is great with having flying eyes and ears wherever you need them, their ability too use tools would allow for a lot of subterfuge, and speaking through them could expand on communications.
Checkmate: While this is a lot more combat oriented for my tastes, I really like the variety of minions it could potentially offer my freedom in how I use it. Plus I have to take it for the aesthetics alone, but in how the minions look and the potential costume designs. Who wouldn't want to go into battle looking like royalty?
School Fish: As someone who prefers to take non-combative roles in a fight, this offers a nice package of options for that. With all the fish being able to combine and fly around, it works for defense, support, and utility, things that would always be appreciated within the hero world. Plus I get to slap people with fish and get called a hero.
Skeletal: While I think that this Quirk offers a lot of benefits with it's disposable minions and combination potential, I picked this because it would be funny in the hands of a hero. I'd be coming onto the scene looking like a necromancer with an undead army pulling people from rumble and working in the soup kitchen. It'd be hilarious.
Claymation: I really like the sheer creatively this Quirk offers. This offers a lot of freedom in how I could design the golems, both in their overall looks and the abilities they could have. It'd be a good jack of all trades option, something that would be amazing to have given all the situations and problems a hero could face in their life.
Constrict: If I had to pick one Quirks I think would help the most, this would be it. Regardless of my own personal preferences, the fact of the matter is that there are barely any healing heroes in the setting. And with the amount of injured civilians and heroes there are in the conflict, you're going to need someone around to fix them up.
Sprout: This could simply be the all the ideas and expansions I've have about "Sprout" in the past, but I simply think it'd be fun to have this Quirk. Just carefully planting and grow these little guys to look around and do task for you is just fun. That and I like the idea of having them around as morale booster for people.

You know what's funny.
All the rich folk who actually believe in a heaven and hell and somehow believe that, no matter how much suffering and exploitation they caused, dispersing all their wealth upon their death would somehow absolve them off their sins.
Rich people believe in luck and superstition like you wouldn't believe. And stuff about Afterlife, especially the ones that are religious, is frightening to them because it's the one thing that their immense wealth can't protect them from.
Their final judgment where their money can't protect them.
But they believe they found a loophole.
Why not give away everything when I'm dead? Surely that must be worth virtue.
It's kinda hilarious how many old rich folk nearing death believe that it'd work (not that i really know how their religion works). It's funnier when you say something to the contrary and watch the unease.
--
Sadly I'm too old to pull off the wide-eyed naive child anymore because it's very easy to get away with speaking horrible truths as a kid.
It was one of my favorite pasttimes.
You direct the conversation to what this eighty year old rich dude will do with their money after death. And they'll usually say something like they'll give it all to charity and stuff.
And then you innocently say "oh do you think god will count that if you can't bring the money with you when you go?"
It's fun to see the cogs spin behind their eyes- and the growing unease even as they dismiss you to go elsewhere.
It's also probably why my parents don't bring me along to rich old ppl parties anymore lol. Except my best grandpa and grandma who are used to my antics. 8)

I accidentally deleted the more coherent ask so this is me trying to frantically remember what it said adjhgsj sorry in advance, I'm going to be unbearable abt Dan Feng for a bit <3
Dan Feng sounds like a hilarious clusterfuck. Dan Heng being screwed over by his actions being a purely backstory event kind of sucks, honestly.
It'd also have the nice bonus of introducing the hcq and why exactly you should care about them much more naturally, bc honestly if well executed their story could have made me cry lol I'm an easy crier. the way they did it just doesn't hit as hard as it should.
But Yes!! Dan Feng was SUCH a molotov cocktail of a person, it really is amazing. Identity issues electric bugaloo (with bonus body dysphoria and hallucinations!) + powers that make him dissociate the f out + trying desperately to ground himself by thinking abt his friends + the fact that in all his appearances he's ALWAYS with this permafrozen resting bitch expression. So when I read DH•IL's dreams of what Dan Feng was like as a person I immediately went "oh god the resting bitch face is a lie he's a fucking MESS" which was fun lmao. Sir that's not a dignified high elder that's millennia of trauma stuffed in knee-high boots and cool gloves
ALL THAT and it's mind-boggling that they just. poke it vaguely with a stick on-screen when there's all that cool stuff in the promos and stories?? "In different people's minds Dan Feng may have been an avatar of Long the dragon, a hero, or an immense evil, but never a person with feelings and emotions." that's great buddy how about you now SAY IT ON SCREEN. It even ties into his character story abt DF struggling to feel emotions through the dragon god mindset! It'd have been so easy!! ughh. I know this is a genshin staple, but belobog was rlly good at bringing up everyone's backstory in the quests so I thought hsr would be different :( here's hoping for penacony
Tbh XL's greatest sin is, imo, always focusing on the exact wrong thing. The High Cloud Quintet isn't explained until way after the fact, we learn what Dan Feng did too late and why that mattered too late… BLADE… etc. etc. We did get a lot of focus on the Hunt vs the Abundance, but I kinda wish Dan Feng's sin had been tied into that more solidly than it was
I've been thinking a lot abt how I'd do it, bc I'd also want to do the DF vs DH fight ichor of two dragons style, but trying to put it in Dan Heng realising that the narrative abt DF that he was taught is a lie at the same time he's trying to establish himself as his own person could muddy it up a bit... but it Would have to be at the story's climax...hmmmm. How would you do it?
According to the judges DF craved the power of abundance but I have a hard time believing them when they fed so much bullshit to poor Dan Heng like
Dan Heng: I was initially kept in the Shackling Prison after reincarnating, and received a thorough education on that person's life and crimes. According to the judges, Dan Feng craved the power of abundance and created abominations, therefore as his reincarnation, I had to bear his punishment. As for what kind of person he really was... to be honest with you, I can't be certain either.
According to Vidyadhara custom and the agreement made with Caelorum Venti Dan Heng was SUPPOSED to leave Dan Feng's sin behind w his reincarnation, so excuse me if I give a side-eye to the rest of what they say lmfao. So much hope for more luofu so we can go and punch the dragon-elf elders instead..
I had SO much fun in the Arlan-Asta quest, Herta being the annoying boss caught me completely by surprise even though it rlly shouldn't have jshgdjs
*squints* it's a stupid hour and I just came from a writing binge and 24 hours w no sleep so hopefully this is coherent lol, I probably got some of the lore wrong. Your long asks are always so nice and clear how do you do it?
Haha np, I delete responses to asks and whole entire posts by accident all the time…. (clicky back button on the side of my mouse my beloathed)
It'd also have the nice bonus of introducing the hcq and why exactly you should care about them much more naturally, bc honestly if well executed their story could have made me cry lol I'm an easy crier. the way they did it just doesn't hit as hard as it should.
I think what gets me is, like. It would've been easy enough to do it? It's beyond me why Blade never just… attacked Dan Heng prior to their team-up. It would've been a good way to establish his beef with DH AND, if Kafka's present, that she a) has hypnotism powers and b) uses them to control Blade outside of … that one scene where he just quietly sits in a room and Kafka promises she's doing something interesting. Also like. The effects mara can have on someone outside of Blade and Jingliu promising they're definitely affected and having ~scary eyes in their Ults.
And obviously, I get that whatever Luocha was doing was a set-up for later, but having Jingliu show up just to go to prison… that's four separate factions each with one of the HCQ and most of them with different goals. You'd THINK that would be A Thing? A big dramatic showdown? The four can meet up again afterwards to get drinks because despite everything they're still friends?
Genshin has poisoned me against reading character bios if I can help it (just look how annoyed I got after reading DH and Blade's!) so I hadn't read DH:IL's until just now, but… you're so right lmao??? How come the most I ever learnt about Dan Feng was from Jingliu's melancholic loredump? The elder ghosts bitch about him, sure, but?? On-screen drama?? That one trailer?? Did HYV think that supplemental material was enough to avoid writing the hard part???
(Unironically I think that's it. The Herta Space Station and Belobog were VERY simple. Stuff like Blade and DH are much harder to get right so, characteristic of HYV's writing over in Genshin, they've avoided it as much as possible by relegating it to trailer animations, bios and Jingliu's lore dump.)
I've been thinking a lot abt how I'd do it, bc I'd also want to do the DF vs DH fight ichor of two dragons style, but trying to put it in Dan Heng realising that the narrative abt DF that he was taught is a lie at the same time he's trying to establish himself as his own person could muddy it up a bit… but it Would have to be at the story's climax…hmmmm. How would you do it?
Complicated question. Running on the assumption that we are returning to the Luofu, or at least will be dealing with Luofu-based characters again at a later point in the story, you probably don't WANT to have wrapped up too much of Dan Heng's potential growth by the third world, right?
So if anything, I'd want him to be more unsure of himself prior to canon so that you can get more development (and types of interactions with others he used to know) out of him during the actual game. Assuming that you will return to the Luofu later, or at least run into most of those characters again (based on the alliance with XL and Trailblazer not having The Hunt yet), I'd probably base it like this:
1) Pre-canon: Dan Heng genuinely isn't sure who he is or how to feel about what he knows of his past. He's pretty sure he's meant to be his own person, but he was never treated that way, lived his life on the Luofu in Dan Feng's shadow and, most damningly, has flashes of Dan Feng's memories every now and then but has no context for what they mean. Also Blade seems pretty sure. And as you say - the High Elders still holding him responsible for Dan Feng's actions, alleged or otherwise, may have caused some damage. He's only one of the Nameless to get away from Blade/his past, basically.
2) First visit to Luofu: Dan Heng learns exactly who Dan Feng was, what he did/why and meets the High Cloud Quintet. You should be able to use Blade and Jing Yuan at the very least to get some Identity Drama and add more stakes to figuring out DF's deal outside of Dan Heng's own feelings. Doesn't necessarily come to a conclusion but is more informed. Meet Bailu etc.
3) Second visit to Luofu: Ichor of the Two Dragons goes here as the climax of some plot where Dan Heng definitively rejects Dan Feng and affirms his own identity. Spending time on the Express helped him figure out who he was/what he wanted and such. Dan Heng cleans up what he can and moves on from the Luofu. He stays on the Express because he loves the crew/for his own reasons, not just to run from his past, something like that.
I think you could pace out other characters' development connected to DH along these stages as well - particularly Blade and Bailu. The result of 3) should be Blade absolutely losing it once he realises Dan Feng really is dead (and whatever that might mean for him which then leads into Dan Heng having to resolve THAT situation in a Dan Heng-way (not necessarily on the Luofu, but around or afterwards), as well as wrapping up Bailu's storyline (which hopefully involves punching some elderly dragon-elves).
It'd also be fun to have a window of time to squeeze a little tension out of March 7th and Dan Heng - because, like, as far as March who wants to know who she was is concerned, a whole world that knows all about Dan Feng AND a bunch of DF's old friends and acquaintances being able to fill in the blanks… that's the dream for her, right? Meanwhile for Dan Heng this is all one big turbo nightmare and he'd be much happier with a clean break and no need to ever come back. Maybe there's some jealousy on both sides there. Trailblazer awkward go-between.
I had SO much fun in the Arlan-Asta quest, Herta being the annoying boss caught me completely by surprise even though it rlly shouldn't have jshgdjs
RIGHT??? For some reason I thought Arlan was having trouble saying no to PEPPY (dog too cute, can't refuse giving peppy too many treats) but then. Herta. OBVIOUSLY
squints it's a stupid hour and I just came from a writing binge and 24 hours w no sleep so hopefully this is coherent lol, I probably got some of the lore wrong. Your long asks are always so nice and clear how do you do it?
Hopefully you got some sleep!!! And uh. I don't know. I naturally ramble a lot and have to trim myself down. My response to how I'd handle DH up there is my third draft and the original was several much longer paragraphs. I'm trying to work on readability… I still need to get better at it, but glad it's helping!(?)

Prompt / Fix-It AU for MDZS & TGCF Crossover
In the AU, the Burial Mounds were left / gathered in order to hide the entrance to The Ghost Realm at some point after tgcf. Most anyone thrown in dies immediately and then joins the city or has their spirit released by hand. Very limited grief on Hua Cheng's (or his husband's) part because they would have been killed regardless
Except This One Kid.
Whether Hua Cheng notices Wei Wuxian the first "visit" or only after he causes a far greater ruckus bringing the Wen Remnants in (or during the first siege), he gets his story (because if anyone could pry the full thing it'd be Crimson Rain Sought Flower) and thinks:
"This guy is the same kind of self-sacrificing rebel with a heart of gold as Gege"
And decides to keep him. Yes, like a pet. WWX assumes he'll have to earn his keep or pay him back eventually but in reality the entertainment and reminder of his husband is plenty. Hua Cheng does not say this, because Hua Cheng is an asshole to anyone but his Gege
Xie Lian immediately reminds WWX of his Shijie cause he's nice and has a sweet + humble demeanor. WWX probably reminds XL of the Wind Master's engaging and accepting nature. Whether WWX keeps enough distance to avoid HC feeling jealous would depend entirely on if he knows who XL is + WWX's emotional state.
XL takes one look HC's newest find and can't decide if he'd rather WWX be their new apprentice or new kid. HC can't say no to his Gege either way
From here there are two routes:
1: XL goes "oh I know stuff about cultivating without access to spiritual energy" and stuffs WWX with protection (from people and damage from resentful energy) talismans in the mean time. Thus begins the arduous and long (13yrs maybe???) process of WWX re-cultivating a gold core with the new methods from Xie Lian
2: In the spirit of the immense and somewhat hilarious power difference between MXTX's novels, XL just... gifts WWX a new core. He gives him spiritual energy and helps him spin it til it sticks. WWX's system was already primed for a golden core and should be otherwise undamaged so... why not?
HC gives WWX tips on how to keep your head while full of resentful energy + all kinds of ghostly tricks.
Once HC realizes WWX isn't going to spontaneously die (the way humans are meant to in the Burial Grounds) and he didn't make any deals or bets with him he really has no excuse to keep him in Ghost City.
He gently deposits the weirdest and wildest mortal he's ever met in Yiling and sends him on his way. Not without a spiritual tool / talisman / whatever to instantly bring him back to the Ghost City of course. He claims it is from his husband. WWX already has a magical panic button from XL, so he knows this is a lie. Hualian expect letters.
The greatest conflict in WWX's life from that point on is trying to convince Hualian to accept the massive debt he's sure he owes them while they refuse on the basis of being Actual Immortals (they do not need it) and Decent People (they don't save lives to be repaid)

not sure if they'd be happening in the same timeline, or in what order the events would occur in if so, but i think it'd be immensely funny if not long after his twin brother had a mental break and ran off to a buddhist temple, og yhr then had to deal w the stress of his sister entering the entertainment industry where (WHAT IF!!!) she had to deal w "the unspoken rules" lol. maybe that would distract him from his competition w jmx and yhl and the desire for his parents to praise him/see him as just as good as yhl SERIOUSLY THEY NEED TO TELL HIM THAT HIS AGGRESSIVENESS AND DRIVE IS ONE THING THAT MAKES HIM BETTER THAN YHL RIGHT HE NEEDS SOMETHING OVER HER TO MAKE HIM FEEL BETTER (but also he would probably take that as a "keep driving urself to unhealthy extremes bc it's the only thing you have over your passive yet perfect sister" huh...)
AHAHAHA WOW.
if all of that follows through, this would honestly this would make og yhr's relationship with jmx AND yhl much better because now they're effectively on the same side of "DEALING WITH HIS DUMB PIECE OF SHIT SIBLINGS".
he still wouldn't like yang haoli. he's probably still kind of hostile -- but his rein on his temper is A LOT TIGHTER because yang haoli's working together with him TO STOP HIS BABY SIBLINGS FROM DOING DUMB SHIT.
his relationship with jiang mingxi, on the other hand, is astronomically better. it helps that he's not engaged to her -- any universe in which yang haoyi exists is one where he's engaged to her, and not yang haoran -- but also, even in canon, they have very similar values and impulses. here, it means they react near identically to yhs and yhy going off the deep end, which aligns them even more on one side that either of them are with yang haoli.
to yang haoran, jmx is 1) the only person close enough to the family to actually see everything he's seeing 2) the only sane man.
he ends up ranting to her about THE ASTRONOMICALLY DUMB THINGS HIS SHITTY SIBLINGS ARE DOING a lot. jmx makes shitty commentary. this is the most friendly they've ever been to each other in years. they might actually end up friendly. it helps that jmx is now more likely to actually be nice to him, because THOSE ARE HER SHITTY CHILDHOOD FRIENDS, she gets it.
on an unrelated note: this universe's jiang mingxi is engaged to yang haoyi, but her teenage years were spent in the unenviable but hilarious position of having a crush on all three of these guys at the same time.
they're all too hot. why are they so hot. why does she have to think they're so hot. being jiang mingxi is suffering.

How I thought the tourney was gonna go (and how incredibly, incredibly wrong I was)
So for anyone who was following me at the beginning of this tournament, you'd know that I actually went and filled out my own bracket with the contenders and it was roughly 2/3 of who I thought would actually win, and 1/3 my own personal bias of who I wanted to win. Well now that the tournament's over, let's compare my thoughts versus the actual bracket and get a chuckle over just how much I got wrong!
Under the cut to prevent dash clutter
So for reference, here is the actual bracket:
And here's what MY bracket was:
Can you uh. Can you see a few um. Discrepancies.
Let's go over some of my favorite things I got wrong:
Overall, my left side of the bracket wasn't too bad! I figured Kris would get pretty far, and predicted they'd get to the final four!!
I sent a few predictions to my bestie and like while I was wrong that Darcy would go far, I DID predict Omori wouldn't make it till the very end! I just didn't think it'd be Harrier that'd take him out
RIP Uendo system I really thought they'd go further than this 😔
So. Eda. I uh. OKAY LISTEN. I REALLY THOUGHT SHE'D DO BETTER! IIRC SHE WAS ONE OF THE ONES WITH MORE SUBMISSIONS DURING THE NOMINATION PERIOD!
I DIDN'T REALIZE HOW MUCH "IF EDA CAN SURVIVE CECIL" RELIED ON THE IF.
The right side of the bracket... hoo boy
Listen, sorry Shallan fans, but I knew absolutely nothing about this character prior to running this tournament, I have immense respect for her now but like. At the time I didn't even know about her, let alone her fans would be so dedicated to coming out for her sweep. GG!
ENA... MAN... Okay to be fair I knew this one would be close.
I honestly thought ENA would pull through... admittedly I also thought it'd be hilarious if the finals ended up being Eda vs ENA for funny name stuff. But man! I even got Mob going to the final four wrong!!!!!
The bottom right I didn't do too bad! Of course I never would have guessed the Blitzwing/Mikoto tie but overall I did okay in that corner!
I DID think Blitzy and Ingo would go further than they ended up going but still!
So yeah. I got a lot of the early matches pretty well, but I lost my finalists in round 1 so I was basically doomed from the start XD Well hey, at least know that this is pretty solid evidence that I didn't rig any of these votes JBSDJKBFKSJDBFKJB
Bonus: My bracket, but scored as if it were a March Madness tournament
I would have scored 61.5 points if this was scored like a March Madness tournament... which is not TERRIBLE but it still FAR from great XD

top five favorite Yellowjackets dynamics?
(thank you for sending it again! I think I intended to delete one ask and then I did. idek what xDD)
IIRC @legendsofamultishipper also asked me about my favourite dynamics in her ask.
If I were to pick a true number one, it'd be "the team". The group dynamic itself and how it's progressing due to the complications of their stay in the wilderness is absolutely fascinating. The pull and push of the embryos of "factions" building, the tension, the mutations or distance or deepening of past dynamics, the slow build (kind of wish it was even SLOWER, I like that xD) to the cult we've been hinted at... I'm into that shit xDD
Small aside: someone else has probably raised the possibility, but I've wondered whether there will be just one (1) antler queen (Lottie as the favourite, Shauna as the spoiler, IMO XD), OR if it'll be a rotating position so everyone is "equally" to blame, iykwim? Idk, I think if there'd been just one (1) girl in charge the dynamics among them in the future would be different (although I'd have to see more of the others vis a vis Lottie to be sure. Natalie is hostile towards her but that's not as clear-cut, and I think if Lottie had been Completely In Charge it'd make more sense for her to be waaaaaaaaay beyond hostile and snarky lol). I mean, unless my half-joke theory turns to be true and it was Mari until there was an uprising against her xDD
(not so small after all asñdlfkajsf)
After that... I must go with Jackie and Shauna. I find it really engaging, everything I could've asked for in terms of messy toxic teen girlfriendship LOL. The only caveat it's that Jackie's death and the consequent stagnation of their relationship is a double-edged sword: yes, it adds a fascinating component, especially in the future when you see how NOT OVER IT Shauna remains... but it means there's no advancement, no possible deeper exploration from half of the relationship (barring the show going full supernatural and resurrecting Jackie I guess xD, but it's doubtful). Jackie's doomed by the narrative and that's part of what I like about her, but it also means that Jackie-the-person, instead of Jackie-the-construct, has little to contribute from now on. All of this is to say: right now these two occupy the second position, but other relationships have more possibilities to grow in my esteem going forward.
For number three, I'm choosing Misty and Natalie. It's hilarious and weirdly heartwarming in the creepiest of ways xD, and I simply enjoy every second of them on my screen. Misty's fixation and admiration of Natalie could be enough to write an essay, and I also love wondering about how much their moments in 1x09-1x10 were Natalie genuinely warming up a little to Misty and how much it was Natalie needing her help LOL.
Positions four and five could vary going forward (there are so many dynamics that have gone underexplored for now but that I'm IMMENSELY curious about). But as of now, I'm going to pick Taissa and Van. This interview was an eye-opener. I already like them from what we've seen, but I'm really banking on their potential as exes in the present timeline because you guys all know I loooooove a good exes plot. Add that whatever is going on with mirror!Tai wanting to see Van again... I'm Looking 👀
I'd say either Lottie and Laura Lee or Lottie and Natalie. The first has that prophet/disciple flavour going on that I find superb, but we run into a similar problem as Jackie-Shauna (even more, given how comparatively little we have of Laura Lee vs. Jackie). Lottie and Nat still have a lot to say, IMO. I feel like we've barely scratched the surface in comparison, and I want to see more, but I'm not quite there. Shauna and Tai are a good pair too, but they've given me less in the last few episodes.
Since I already tagged her: @legendsofamultishipper also asked me about my favourite and least favourite characters.
My favourites could also be encompassed by "the team", although I obviously have preferences lol. Misty and Lottie are likely at the very top (Misty is unhinged and I can't look away from the crash, Lottie has the heretic messiah thing going for her), with Taissa and Natalie not far behind, Shauna as the !!!!! option, Jackie as a great Dead Girl TM, Vanessa has a lot of potential, and Mari and Crystal are simply hilarious...
As for "least favourite"... I don't hate anybody, but I reiterate that I don't care for the normies AT ALL. Like, nothing. "Oh this character is having a Rough Time" were they in the crash? Did they have to survive in the wilderness? No? Then I'm not paying any attention to them. My empathy is fully turned off, trust me xDD. My hierarchy is girls in the crash >>> boys in the crash >>>>>>> normies. But I'm mainly neutral about (and sometimes amused by) them. The ones I'd say I dislike the most are the cop characters, especially that moustache one, or Randy, or Adam... but it's a ~mute dislike, iykwim. They're unlikeable people, I just don't care about them as characters.

Words cannot describe how much I ADORE bten. Such a marvelous piece of writing. I'm surprised I got to read this incredible fic for free???? pls pls pls tell me you're also secretly a New York bestselling author so I can go read your books pls pls pls.
I read it all in one sitting, so I may be misremembering things, but I always assumed that the reason Kenny started noticing the time traveler was that each time they died, they accumulated more and more cursed energy (from the trauma of dying over and over again). Or is that not how it works? Did the time traveler have a lot of cursed energy right at the beginning or did their cursed energy grow after each loop. The latter makes more sense to me, considering they started to only see the curses after a few iterations, but I might have misread!
Another question! Approximately how long was the time traveler stuck there? At one point, they say thousands of years but that can't be true hahaha....right? for the sake of the time traveler's mental state i sure hope not.
Final question buuuut why did gojo keep giving the time traveler his number? I think it's heavily implied that it's due to the immense cursed energy and he wants to know more about them but maybe there was also a romantic interest at first glance maybe maybe???
Im so sorry for all these questions AND how long this ask got. You are just such a talent writer!!!! thank you so much for gifting us this masterpiece!!!!
omg. thank you so much!!! unfortunately, i am not a new york times best selling writer. if i was, then my ●●●● shrine would be SO BIG. alas. a girl can dream tho.
okay so! yes! reader did keep accumulating more and more cursed energy with each subsequent loop! at the beginning they didn't have very much, but at the moment of their very first death, their cursed energy spiked up just high enough to trigger their technique. and with each death, they kept building up more and more. which is why they eventually became able to see jogo and hanami as well as why they kept waking up earlier and earlier, or rather, going further and further back in time. actually, this is. a bit of a reference to madoka magica where, madoka continues to gain more and more potential energy before she makes her transformation.
nooooo they weren't stuck in the loop for thousands of years! it was that they'd gone through thousands of loops! i know they stopped counting, but i have an exact number: 15,532 loops. not every loop lasted the same amount of time. the first few loops were probably only a few minutes at most, while the loops were reader made it to kenny were probably as long as an hour and a half or so. if we assume each loop lasted an hour that comes out to 647 days, which is a little over a year and nine months, but since there were the shorter loops, it'd be less than that. i think. math is not my strong point. but putting it in those terms, it doesn't seem like all that long, does it? not even two years… so i think that worked in their favor wrt their mental state!! 1000 years would have definitely… been too much.
also, i'm diverging a little here, but reader does mention the possibility of going back far enough to avoid being in shibuya and. like. if that had happened. then. they would still have died LMAOOO. no matter what.
as for your last question! it is most definitely due to the insane amount of cursed energy they have. i wouldn't say that he wants to know more about them per se… but he definitely has something in mind LMAO. that being said!! i wouldn't completely write off any initial attraction, because like, if i had thought it logistically possible to have a little romance, i would have done so. but it just wasn't possible with the situational constraints.
but the thought of gojo being instantly attracted to someone in like a ketchup bottle costume is infinitely hilarious to me.
and no need to apologize for all your questions!! i can honestly and truly say i've been there so i get it!! honestly, i should be thanking you for giving me the opportunity to ramble about this fic to an audience. i feel like there's always more to a fic than the actual words in the fic, like extra secret lore… what happens before and after… all sorts of stuff!! i'm really glad that you liked it enough to ask too!! and!! thank you for asking!! really!! truly!! thinking of how to answer this got me through the rest of my day job HAHAHA. i'm sorry this got so long too LMAO.
#on anon#I RAMBLED SO MUCH OMG#the 15532 is also a reference to endless eight from haruhi suzumiya#fic feedback#bten rambling

For the Character ask game, Naoto, Hina, Hanma. Hope you doing well 🤗
Hey thank you for the ask! I hope you've been well too ⊂((・▽・))⊃ Take a moment for yourself~
Oof this is an interesting selection of characters let's gooo~~~ (this ended up being long, so I'm putting a read more)
one aspect about them i love
Naoto: He's the best little brother ever! His dedication in the series is immense and he is such a loving, devoted guy Hina: She is so passionate! It's actually crazy how she slapped Mikey early on in the series just because she thought he was intimidating Takemichi. Not to mention the fact she wears that clover necklace for over a decade. Hanma: His character design is super cool ✨ One of my favourites!
one aspect i wish more people understood about them
Naoto: I think in general he's understood pretty well, but he doesn't get enough credit for how well he handles the time leaping situation and only being the trigger to it. He's a wonderful brother and I will say this every day forever. Honestly, I would simply go insane if I was him Hina: She is more complex than she gets credit for and it bums me out that she's most often treated as a prize to be won! We all know she is a hero character and has moments in which she parallels Takemichi, but she also has moments that are parallel to Kisaki. She's more complex than the pure, innocent girl that she is often reduced to after the Tenjiku Arc. I think it's important to be aware of how Hinata is treated like a prop in the series and how it worsens (especially after Tenjiku). We know Kisaki sees her as a prize to be won, and when he dies, Hinata marries Takemichi in the next timeline. This makes sense, but the moment Kisaki dies, any exploration of Hinata's complexity is abruptly ended. We see no reaction from her about Kisaki's death and she has little struggles or very complex moments for the rest of the series, even though the events of her life are undoubtedly troubling and complex. Her fading to the background after Kisaki dies truly made her feel like a prize to be earned by Takemichi, as the reader is intended to simply assume they will be together forever now that the Big Bad Kisaki is dead. She belongs to Takemichi after that, so her struggles are no longer relevant and no longer shown: the reader isn't supposed to feel her non-romantic struggles matter anymore. The story sees her as a prize from all angles, unfortunately. Of course, I adore the Takemichi and Hina pairing, and them getting married is certainly what I always wanted, but I will say this again and again that the way it is presented is not something I enjoy. It'd be interesting/compelling that she was still treated this way if the narrative was aware of it, but unfortunately it's not.. Hanma: He's a really open-ended character, so idk what to say. He'll always be a time leaper to me LOL
one (or more) headcanon(s) i have about this character
Naoto: I don't think he had many friends as a kid because he was kind of awkward. I feel like he would have and imaginary friend. Maybe of some occult creature. Hina: She is in the school orchestra on piano and is known for her skills. She also participates in competitions for piano, which her dad makes her do. She prefers the casual atmosphere of the school music room. Hanma: He's the kind of guy who eats sour candy. He somehow likes it, lol.
one character i love seeing them interact with
Naoto: Takemichi!!!!!!!!!!!!! He doesn't really interact with anyone else Hina: I could be obvious and say Takemichi but let's be funny and say Hakkai. Her interaction with him in the anime was hilarious! Hanma: Kisaki!!! Hanma is so loyal to him and for what? What is the story of the Pierrot and the Reaper? 😭
one character i wish they would interact with/interact with more
Naoto: Kisaki or Mikey. These two were his main targets as a detective but they never interacted. It would have been cool to see a young, oblivious Naoto interacting with either of them. Hina: Kisaki! The man has her killed in every timeline and yet they don't have a single conversation in the main series in middle school. Hanma: Draken!!! I love their fights because they feel like equal opponents and have totally different motives and personalities. I wish they had a more developed rivalry.
one (or more) headcanon(s) i have that involve them and one other character
Naoto: I have a headcanon that he met Kisaki once when he was maybe 10, when Hina invited him to the house on the way home. Kisaki beats him in chess so Naoto hates him LOL Hina: I think she and Yuzuha would become good friends after the Black Dragons Arc. They probably go to cafés together. Maybe they go to an arcade! Hanma: I imagine him uprooting flowers from random lawns to give to Kisaki, dropping dirt around as he carries it over to him. He does it even when Kisaki tells him to stop.
Character Ask Game!

I think we as a society don't have enough crossover aus that's just jrwi plus whatever fucking smp Charlie's on. And I'm not talking just riptide (though I LOVE riptide crossover stuff but imagine the chaos of all of the campaigns in one spot) (no I haven't watched fated yes I still need to listen to mythborne but shhhh.)
Anyways specifically I'm thinking about how fucking hilarious it'd be to have convergence + qsmp. Like guys their whole thing is collecting golden eggs to travel dimensions. Also imagine Alastyr losing his fucking mind upon seeing all the gizmos and contraptions. Imagine if the golden eggs all became sentient lil guys. Fucking imagine how funny all the magic stuff would be. Also I imagine Kroe somehow being the main egg dad cause iirc he was the one mostly in charge of the golden eggs.
Also imagine Kasper trying to show off his magic and his magic going wild and then y'know. Wheel Time™ and everyone is immediately on edge cause wtf was that. Also I could totally see Flynn and Alastyr trying to look into the census bureau stuff.
Also strangle shittily builds a house. Also also Kroe ending up in Cucurucho's white room somehow and immediately has immense war flashbacks to the hospital™ cause y'know :) he's the only one who remembers. Also none of these guys would trust Wilbur he reminds them too much of Spidebur and fuck that guy.
Also it'd be funny if qCharlie knew them. Like moreso then he'd know shit with the riptide pirates in that crossover cause this guy was the dm for it. He made that shit. (I think maybe if it was exile era he'd try to take one of the golden eggs to try and use them to leave)
Also I feel like a lot of people would be sus of them <3 because where the fuck did they come from(strange portal) and why do they have like 3 eggs and why are all of them golden.
#can you tell i have many thoughts#fellow like 2 people who like convergence who also are qsmp enjoyers feel free to join me#also strangle's themesong plays in the distance whenever he approaches people/j

// I just think it'd be hilarious of Sydney just...doesn't know that Chuck is God. And if anyone tries to tell her about it, she just... doesn't really believe it. But when she is in his vicinity, she definitely feels immense power from him that's different than any other being she's come across but can't put her finger on it. #shenotsmartttjkjk She's just out here like "This dude writes books. Why you givin' him the business?" meanwhile people are literally holding up fucking signs that says he's god. She's just "Isn't that a little pretentious?????????"

Follow up to my last act. Mrs. Karn insists on meeting this ‘Dedra’ that has derailed her son’s cubicle farm career that Uncle Harlow put so much effort into securing. Who walks away from that confrontation?
Would you believe me if I said I've written 10,000 words of a fic that answers this exact question
I'm sort of trying not to spoil my own writing now, because I really like that fic and it'll be the next thing I post after Frictious—whoops—but I can see several ways a confrontation between Dedra and Eedy might go. I don't think they'd get along at first, just because of who they are as people; they're extremely similar in ways, and I don't think they'd appreciate having those qualities reflected back at them. Eedy would make a series of snide comments Dedra would answer with a series of equally snide comments. Syril would look back and forth between them as this occurs, wide-eyed and in vaguely panicked disbelief, like a puppy watching its owners fight. Not that Eedy and Dedra would argue, necessarily. No voices would be raised. This wouldn't be an outright war: it'd be a series of small battles. Smirks and sharp tongues. A cold war of passive aggression.
Underneath that, though, I believe there'd be a current of unexpected respect. Eedy would look at Dedra and appreciate her status and the hard work it must've taken her to climb so high within the Imperial structure ("Syril, look at all your girlfriend has accomplished. Why can't you be more like her?"-type nagging), while Dedra would have immense appreciation for Eedy just... dealing with Syril, for as long as she has. I think Dedra, like Syril, would have a healthy amount of disdain for Eedy to pair that with, but Dedra knows better than many how difficult putting up with Syril can be. There are days when she can hardly tolerate him. There are days when the sight of him brings on an instant headache. There are days when she sees him walking down the hall to her office and she locks the door. Eedy's dealt with him his whole life?! How is this poor woman still standing?!
Inevitably, I think this progresses to the two of them making backhanded comments about Syril, because he's there, and he's been so passive in watching this chaos unfold, and that's his lot in life. Whether or not you headcanon that Syril and Dedra would be romantically involved at the point she'd meet Eedy, I don't think a romance precludes Dedra from insulting him—I think she'd always have something cutting to say about him, even if they're together. It's just the way her brain is wired. It's instinct. So Eedy makes an anti-Syril remark, Dedra agrees and expands on that anti-Syril remark, and Eedy laughs and further expands on the anti-Syril remark, and you're left with a far less positive (but equally hilarious) version of this:
Just replace "blorbo thoughts" with "anti-Syril thoughts," and there you go.
Funnily enough, both of them do love him. They just have the worst, most psychologically damaging way of showing it.
#syril x dedra#syril karn#dedra meero#eedy karn#i had way too much fun answering this#i'm just imagining syril being so proud to bring his girlfriend to see his mother and it backfiring on him in the most spectacular fashion#eedy: 'stop slouching syril'#dedra *rolling her eyes*: 'isn't it aggravating when he does that?'#asks#answered
