Archon War anon - and no worries if you thought that just Osial and Chi were enough! It's just that the way it gets talked about, I always felt like there had to be just a ton more gods fighting?
no absolutely! it does get talked about like it's thousands of them. which, like i mention in the previous ask (i know i should've read and answered this one in the previous also but i didn't check lmao) is also a huge hole of information that we simply do not have in-game. we don't know who the fuck was morax fighting. they tell us osial isn't the only one buried under guyun, but haishan can't be there bc beidou is the one that kills him, and beisht is out and about, so who tf is? i can't see liyue going to war with sal vindagnyr nor mondstadt or sumeru, let alone fontaine, and we know for a fact that he did not fight havria (...right?). so who was it?
chenyu vale did tell us that there was a different god in charge of that area, and i think it either also tells us or we can assume that said god had several adepti-equivalents with them that also fought morax? but if its only adepti-equivalents were fujin n co, then that leaves only the god to fight since those three deserted. it likely wasn't only those three but still, i can't remember rn. my point stands.
one of he books mentions that the dunyu ruins were home to a different god altogether? i think? but we don't know the age of those ruins. and even then, they're the exact same architectural stlye as the rest of liyue, for the most part. like the only time i've seen non-guili style architecture in liyue (that isn't the domains or the chasm) was in yelan's story quest? i think? which took place under qingxu pool??? so there might've been a god there. there's also a sea god mentioned in another one of the books. we don't know who tf that was, if they were even real, or if their timeframe even matches the archon war.
so again, i think the best explanation we have so far is that we know of no gods that fought morax (beyond osial n chenyu vale's lord) because the way we find that out in-game in other regions is if they had another civilization to their own. kinda how deshret and rukkadevata had their own people (though those two didn't fight). so if we see no other sign of a civilization other than the guili assembly in liyue, then we stand to reason that the entirety of the nation (bar chenyu vale? but even then the ruins there are the exact same style so) was one unified nation.
which would mean it was a china situation, where everyone fought eachother within the same nation until only morax remained standing. which is why we don't know of anyone else – they left no marks of having had a civilization of their own, and so we cannot know if they ever did exist. the only reason why we know havria and chenyu vale's god existed is because the game told us about them. if the game hadn't told us, and we'd only seen the ruins of their civilization, we would've found the exact same style of the guili assembly and then assumed morax simply controlled those places as well.
osial is a different topic entirely, i don't think he counts hahah
edit: forgot about xiao's master, so i guess that's another confirmed god he fought? alongside chi, whom i also forgot about. still, i think chi was more of a land beast than a god with a people, and xiao's master i have no clue about. (am i tripping or did chenyu vale insinuate that the god in charge of that area was xiao's master?????? maybe i'm just confused. if it was, that just takes one god off the list, since xiao's master and chenyu's lord could've been the same person. if not, i've no fucking clue where xiao's master fits into all of this. like i'm not sure if it's ever stated that it was a god from liyue? it must've been. but then, where were his people? did he even have any? idk. you get my point)
#aaa sorry for the ramble#i love this topic it's so interesting yet so furstrating#ashikai has a great (if maybe a bit outdated? idk it's several updates old so) video on this#i think it was the prince of liyue or something like that#it's basically the same idea; that liyue was a unified nation and zhongli was just another one of the people in charge of a settlement#or maybe the leader of it all#we don't know#anyway#thank you <3 <3

some kaeya facts that i want to remind everyone with because I miss him so much! (no angst this time i swear!!...but if you all want angst, I could also deliver hehehe)
1. Kaeya tells the children of Mondstadt some stories! Specifically, one that some forgot or didn't know of is that he has told the orphans under the church's care some horror story about the light in the lamp posts :D He had been shown to do a story telling to Klee while at the Veluriyam Mirage and he has also been reading to Klee her bedtime stories as well
2. Kaeya made Klee's survival rules! Kaeya has definitely done his part on preventing Klee from destroying Mondstadt before Celestia ever could (well, at least lessened the amount of times Mond gets bombed anyway). Anyone else think Kaeya purposely let Klee explode the Good Hunter's stove to avoid going to the Chasm? No? Ok-
3. He takes the attention when he dances! Depending on which language you hear it from, it is either a good or a bad thing. However, I am on team good thing simply because some mercenaries invited him to go dancing with them while he was in Sumeru ( very interesting information, Kaeya! Glad to know they found you so attractive that they did something they don't usually do!)
4. If you call him kind, he will attempt to look mean (and he fails at it lmao), and if he is not being mean, he will try to deny it. The traveler once listed down the kind things he had done for Captain Wu, a Liyue npc, and Kaeya proceeds to tell us that he records people who owe him (which is a lie. He forgot the person he helped TWICE. What he does have a record of is a well-detailed list of Treasure Hoarders and their rankings + patrol areas in Mondstadt). Another instance was during Jean's story quest where Kaeya planned the appreciation party for Jean where he gave the traveler all the credit
5. He is a great gift giver! (unless that person is Diluc because otherwise he will find the ugliest thing ever and gift that... arguably, that kinda sounds like amazing gift giving if we are talking about being an annoying sibling). He remembers passing commentary from friends and coworkers and gifts them accordingly.
6. He has his own intel network (and I'm theorizing that it is just a group of people he has helped before that insisted on paying him back in this way). Kaeya, after some heavy insistence from Captain Wu, asks him if he wants to be a friend or be part of his intel network and follow his commands no matter what. Vile, one of his known informants, also gave us a glimpse as to what it takes to be part of Kaeya's network, and that is the ability to decipher codes and read messages in between.
7. He is incredibly reliable as a knight! Not only do the people of Mondstadt agree that he is the more approachable cavalry captain between him and Diluc, but it is also a known fact that Kaeya has never failed to complete a mission to date (except the one during Diluc's 18th). Nearly every citizen of Mondstadt adores him and knows how reliable he is. Arguably, this success rate could be attributed to his "end justifies the means" mindset that not all find enjoyable, but he is definitely the person to ask if you want something done. Vile has once mentioned that she could just ask Kaeya to do the charming and convincing for her, dubbing him as a prince charming for it.
8. He is one of the people who spends so much time with Klee (potentially attributed by the fact that he also has more free time compared to others). He spends so much time with her that Klee mentions a few interesting things about Kaeya, such as the fact that Albedo draws Kaeya frequently (enough times that Albedo says Kaeya could be drawn by him easily. yes, it's that "three strokes" line lmao) and the fact that Kaeya has saved Klee from solitary confinement a lot. He is shown to be a very effective person when it comes to corralling Klee without making her feel bad as even when he was trying to berate her, he still ended up giving her a possible reward if she listens.
9. He is very meticulous. He willingly spends the time to get himself ready in the clothes that he is wearing, and he likes embellishments. He really is quite the perfectionist in his actions as well. (very Alberich of him!✌️) We can also see this in his handwriting that has been described as "beautiful" and again with his near perfect track record as a knight.

I don't know if you're accepting anymore requests for the Creator Baby Daddy thing, but if said baby daddy was a certain redheaded teetotaler that runs the Dawn Winery? 😗
Their grace had a
Firey headed child

Wc: 1k
As the soft sunlight seeps inside the room you open your eyes, a bright red mane moving softly up and down as it rests on your chest, its curls framing Diluc’s jaw and nose.
It seems like the finger you ran around his hair and cheek woke him up. “Rise and shine, little prince”
Bright red eyes look at you with tenderness and his lips kiss your sternum and arms tighten around your waist.
“We can cuddle for a bit but remember I have to leave after breakfast to Liyue” he nods but sighs against your skin “even after I leave you will be forever in my heart”
“And my heart will always ardently burn for you, your grace” he kisses your lips as he mumbles sweet nothings, both of you fully under the cotton covers and enjoying the last few minutes of time together.
“It's been quite a while, Diluc” you sit down on the stools in front of the bar, it's almost closing time and the few people left are gathering themselves to go home. Even Diluc was surprised to see you at this hour but he holds back from asking about it straight on.
“It's been almost three months, I think? I believe you were scheduled to return for the next Ludi Harpastum, in two more months” without hesitation he keeps the conversation going smoothly, so used to chatty drunkards going on and on and still expect an answer.
Looking at him doing the closing chores so focused delays your answer a few seconds, but honestly who could blame you? His white shirt was rolled up his elbows and the top few buttons were undone “Mhh there was a change of plans, for reasons I will stay a season in mondstat”
“I see… I guess you just arrived?”
“That is right, we hurried back and managed to make it here in two days”
Throwing the towel he was drying the whiskey glass with over his shoulder he leans forward, resting his back from standing for so long and causing a few stray crimson hairs to stick to his thinly sweaty skin, the warmth of the tavern almost making you break into a light sweat after a few minutes inside “Would I be so bold as to offer you a drink, your grace?”
“I would love it, just please make sure to not add alcohol to it”
He nods and turns to pour a small layer of grenadine in a glass “as you please”
“aren't you going to ask me why?”
“Why you don't want alcohol? I was just guessing you didn't want today”
“Well, it's partly because of that but there is also another reason” softly you lay a hand down on your lower belly, sure he would understand the implication.
“Upset stomach? Alcohol does irritate the stomach's lining” but when turns to pour orange juice he sees your deadpan expression and the hand between your hips, soon the connection is made “was that from…”
“Yes, indeed! I do hope your heart is still burning for me”
“Always, your grace” a soft smile grace's his face, if the candles were dimmer it might have been impossible to see. Closer to a gasp or a whisper he leans forward and swears “I would rather rip my heart out than to stray from you”
During the pregnancy his hands and sight seem to always find themselves stuck on your body somehow, a constant reminder to himself that you are safe and this is something nobody nor anything will be able to take away from him and even if they attempted he would fight to defend.
Any comforting words that you might attempt to soothe him with fall to deaf ears so it might be better to hold in the good news until you start to show to enjoy to the max your boundless liberty before making good acquaintance of the dawn winery and periphery, it's not like he would force you to! He would never dare to order you around, it's just his face that makes you the slightest bit guilty when you leave and travel alone. Even if you wouldn't consider four knights of favonius alone he still seems to hold resentment and mistrust.
People say that firstborns always look like their dads, nature's paternity test some claim, but regardless of how your baby looked (even you must claim that as soon as your beloved baby came out it was hard to find any resemblance with humans) the firey red fuzz on his head linking him to his father in a second. Not like Diluc doubted it for a second.
“This selection is a chardonnay” Diluc holds a white grape before smashing it between his fingers and giving it to your toddler to happily chew “it makes a wine of the same name” when the kid swallows he hands them a dark one and does the same procedure “this one is Malbec, a staple for most of our red wine” but this time he spits in back on the ground, seemingly too bitter.
“Why don't you stick to feeding him normal grapes?” You ask from the table under a shadow, sipping grape juice and reading a book.
“When he grow up they might want to work here and with so many types of grapes and things about the winery to know I should teach him young” he turns around from besides the vine, he from may you know where decided that he needed to teach your year old about the multiple varieties of wine grapes and their wines.
“Fine~ if you feel like you want to do it teach him, I doubt much knowledge will stick right now but I will be rooting for you here” he turns around to face the plant again and you keep watching his arms show from under the rolled shirt and how they tense when reaching for a new grape and the love with which he teaches his child, quite possibly reminiscing about his father doing the same with him.

Some time had passed since coming to Kogyoku with the Owner.
The town was livelier than usual today, bustling with energetic crowds.
Emma: Prince Kagari’s birthday?
Townswoman: Yes, it’s a tradition to celebrate it all around town.
Emma: So that’s why it’s especially lively today.
(I didn't know it was Prince Kagari’s birthday.)
The townspeople were in high spirits, and the scent of dorayaki wafted through the air from all directions.
Townswoman: You should join in the celebrations too.
Townswoman: I’m sure he’ll be delighted if his favourite person celebrated his birthday.
A lady I became acquainted with ever since coming to Kogyoku gave me a gentle push forward with an innocent smile.
Townswoman: Come onnn, I’ll help you think of a gift if you’re unsure of what to get.
Emma: Thank you. But because this is a special occasion, I’d like to come up with something on my own.
(Why do I feel oddly pressured…? Maybe it’s just my imagination.)
Looking satisfied with my response, she dropped some words of encouragement before leaving.
(Regardless of whether I’m his “favourite person” or not… it's undeniable that Prince Kagari has helped me a lot during my time in Kogyoku so far.)
(Since I’m now aware it’s his birthday, I must celebrate it.)
(Alright then…)
…
(... What’s with this ridiculously long line!?)
I made my way to the castle with my gift packed in my bag, only to find the plaza filled with people who were also there to celebrate Prince Kagari’s birthday.
(Swordsmen, nobles… even commoners. That's a lot of people.)
I almost immediately caught sight of the striking red hair at the front of the line.
Looking at him from a distance, Prince Kagari wore a neutral expression as he continually accepted birthday greetings and gifts without pause.
(He’s completely detached from everything going on and doesn't look happy at all.)
As I stood on my tiptoes to get a better view, his jade-green eyes met mine.
(... Prince Kagari’s sensitive to being watched, so he probably noticed me.)
(My staring might've bothered him.)
I averted my eyes and hid behind a nearby cherry blossom tree.
(Still, what should I do? It’s going to be hard to have a proper celebration with this many people around.)
(As much as I want to celebrate on the actual day of his birthday, I guess I’ll have to come back another day— huh?)
When I absentmindedly glanced back at the castle, Prince Kagari was nowhere in sight.
Standing in his place was his attendant, receiving the greetings and gifts from the people on behalf of the now missing yasha¹.
¹ Kagari’s nickname is 紅玉夜叉 (kōgyoku yasha), which directly translates to “Kogyoku’s Yasha”. If you happen to play Genshin Impact, Yasha and Yaksha are the same thing; so like how Liyue has Xiao, Kogyoku has Kagari. For those who don’t play GI, think of Yasha/Yaksha as something like a… guardian deity?
It was a strange sight to see.
???: You’re wide open, Princess.
(!?)
I turned around in response to the unexpected voice whispering into my ear, only to have my mouth covered by someone’s hand.
I was pulled into the shade and my back hit the rough surface of a tree trunk.
Emma: Mmph…!
(When did Prince Kagari get behind me…?)
Despite my struggling, he easily pinned me against the tree trunk and brought his face dangerously close to mine.
I thought my heart was going to stop.
Kagari: Do you promise to behave?
He finally took his hand off my mouth when I nodded.
However, our distance remained the same, I was still trapped by his hands pressed against the tree.
(I need to calm down.)
(He’s probably just staying close so other people won’t notice us.)
I naturally lowered my voice to barely a whisper, careful not to let my breath touch him.
Emma: … What are you doing here, Prince Kagari?
Kagari: I saw you.
Emma: You came to see me?
Kagari: You called me here.
(Is that what it looked like to him?)
While I felt guilty, my heart tingled too.
Kagari: If you were planning to join the line, don’t bother.
Kagari: It won’t end till nightfall.
Emma: That long…?
Kagari: There’s a banquet tonight. That’ll go on till dawn.
(They really go all out to celebrate this day. That’s Kogyoku’s yasha for you.)
I was impressed, but Prince Kagari’s expression remained as stoic as ever.
He watched the seemingly endless line of people as though it had nothing to do with him. It was shockingly cold for someone whose birthday was being celebrated.
(Perhaps Prince Kagari isn’t interested in birthday celebrations.)
(... What if he finds me a nuisance?)
Kagari: So, why are you here?
I instinctively looked away.
Emma: … Um… there are so many people gathered, and I got curious…
(I can’t mention that I came to celebrate his birthday too.)
I hid the bag containing his gift behind my back.
Prince Kagari remained silent for a while.
The awkward silence made even the noise from the crowd at the plaza sound distant.
(Did he notice I’m hiding something?)
However, instead of saying it outright, he grabbed my arm.
Kagari: Come with me, Princess.
Emma: W-wh—whoa…! Prince Kagari?
Before I could react, he silently yet forcefully led me toward the castle, while making sure to stay away from any prying eyes…
…
Prince Kagari shoved me inside a room and left a brief moment before coming back with a large basket from who knows where.
Kagari: First, put this on.
Emma: Is this… a hakama²
² 袴 (hakama) is a type of traditional Japanese pants. Initially, only the upper class wore it. But it was eventually also worn by warriors (e.g. samurai) in the Kamakura era. In modern day, it's being worn as a part of the Aikido uniform and also as a fashion piece (hakama inspired trousers).
Kagari: Next, wrap this around your face.
Emma: A scarf?
Kagari: Lastly, wear this on your waist.
Emma: A sword…!?
Kagari: Bun your hair up.
Emma: Umm…
(Why are we suddenly doing dress-up time?)
When I tilted my head in confusion at the items handed to me one after another, Prince Kagari picked up the hakama and reached for my clothes.
Kagari: If you don’t know how to put on a hakama, I’ll teach you.
Emma: … It’s fine, I’ll manage it myself as much as possible!
(I don’t really get what’s going on, but surely it won’t lead to anything bad—)
…
(— Or so I thought. How did it come to this…)
Ruffian: Who’s this?
Emma: I… I won’t take a single step beyond this point!
In a back alley away from crowds, I found myself face-to-face with a gang of intimidating men.
Pushing aside the suffocating feeling of fear I felt at the sight of the weapons hanging from their waists, I unsheathed the sword Prince Kagari had given me.
Ruffian: I don't know what's goin’ on, but looks like ya know who we are.
(... No. I have no idea who you people are at all.)
Ruffian: Get her.
With a vulgar laugh, the men drew their swords.
Unlike the imitation sword I was wielding, theirs were real — the blades gleaming menacingly.
Before one of their swords could hit me, the man at the front was suddenly knocked down by a shadow descending from above.
Ruffian: What!?
Kagari: Poor thing.
In the blink of an eye, the men were blown away along with their swords.
They were slammed against the wall, their eyes rolling back as they fell unconscious.
Prince Kagari finished them off in seconds without even drawing his sword.
(No matter how many times I witness it, his strength is beyond ordinary.)
Kagari: That was easy. I hoped they’d at least be good enough for me to draw my sword.
(... I wonder how many people in Kogyoku are even capable of standing up to Prince Kagari.)
When I snapped back to reality and attempted to sheath the imitation sword, Prince Kagari suddenly turned around and grabbed my hand.
Kagari: Princess, you need to adjust the angle of your stance.
Emma: I see…
Kagari: Also, never hunch your back on a battlefield.
Emma: I never noticed I was doing that.
Kagari: Exactly. Even though you’re dressed like one of my subordinates, you’re weak.
Emma: … I’m sorry.
(I wish you’d cut this amateur some slack.)
(It’s not like I asked to help with a capture mission.)
While still holding my hand, he placed a hand on my back.
He applied force to straighten my posture, and despite his expressionless face, he seemed rather satisfied.
Cat: Nyaa…
Kagari: Ah, wait a minute.
(A cat?)
A cat appeared out of nowhere and started rubbing its face affectionately against Prince Kagari’s leg.
He knelt down to gently stroke the cat before handing it a neatly folded piece of paper.
The cat took the paper in its mouth and scurried off.
Emma: What was that…?
Kagari: Calico³ No.1
³ He calls the cat ミケ (mi-ke). I don’t know how exactly to call it in english, but there's a type of cat called 三毛猫 (mi-ke-ne-ko) which is what we know as a calico cat. I’m assuming that's the cat species here…?
(What a peculiar name.)
Kagari: It often roams the streets. So if you ever need to contact me, you can count on it for that.
Emma: So instead of a carrier pigeon… you have a carrier cat.
Kagari: Yeah.
(What an impressive cat. I’ll be sure to remember it.)
Emma: About the paper you gave it earlier on…
Kagari: I summoned my subordinates. It’s a hassle to clean up this mess.
Prince Kagari stood up while answering my question matter-of-factly and looked down at one of the men laying unconscious nearby.
Kagari: This is a “gift” I receive on my birthday every year, amidst the celebrations.
Kagari: I was looking forward to a more challenging opponent, but I got disappointed this year too.
(People send assassins after him on his birthday too?)
Prince Kagari was Kogyoku’s main warrior and the country’s trump card.
As long as the yasha exists, Kogyoku’s security is guaranteed.
It wasn’t a surprise to know there were people who sought to demolish this iron wall of defense.
(But I can’t believe they’d try something even on a day of celebration.)
Kagari: Princess.
Prince Kagari pressed his thumb against the space between my eyebrows.
(... I must’ve been frowning.)
Kagari: You’re still my subordinate.
Emma: Even though I’m weak?
Kagari: That makes it easier for them to attack.
Kagari: There’s no better bait than you.
(If being with Prince Kagari can help him out…)
Emma: I’ll do my best as bait.
…
Townsman: Happy birthday, Prince Kagari!
Townswoman: Every store in town is baking dorayaki today. In fact, there’s hardly any store that isn’t…!
As soon as we stepped out onto the main street, Prince Kagari was immediately surrounded by the townspeople.
Kagari: … Oh.
Despite the influx of greetings and gifts, his reaction was as indifferent as it was back at the castle.
(Everyone’s smiling so brightly and their words sound genuine. What’s with the contradicting attitude?)
I strained my ears to pick up on what they were saying.
Townsman: We have Prince Kagari to thank for our peaceful lives.
Townswoman: Please continue protecting us for a long time. We’ll do anything in exchange for that…!
(...)
(Ah, I get it now.)
(All of this is solely about pleasing Prince Kagari.)
(The peace in this country depends entirely on him, and so everyone celebrates him.)
(This kind of celebration is nothing unusual, but…)
Townswoman: Oh, right, Prince Kagari, did you receive any celebratory greetings and gifts from Emma?
I got startled by the sudden mention of my name.
Kagari: I haven't.
Townswoman: In that case, I’ll have to remind her again when I see her.
Townswoman: After all, having Emma celebrate your birthday would likely make you the happiest.
As I came to know what the people were thinking, I finally understood the strange pressure I had been feeling — they wanted me to celebrate their yasha too.
(... But I don’t think celebrations should be forced on people.)
The emotion that swelled up within me was beyond frustration, it was heartbreaking.
(Earlier on, Prince Kagari showed no interest in his birthday, which made me hesitant to celebrate it…)
(But now, I’ve decided that I want to give him a proper celebration… not one that's only meant to appease him.)
Emma: … Prince Kagari.
I discreetly grabbed his hand to lead him away from the crowd as soon as possible.
Townsman: By the way, Prince Kagari, I see you’re someone unfamiliar today.
Kagari: He’s a new subordinate of mine and a master swordsman. You all should be careful of him.
Kagari: Your heads will be easily sent flying off your shoulders if he draws his sword.
The lie he told with a straight face worked perfectly.
Taking advantage of the people’s fear, I tugged at Prince Kagari’s hand and hurriedly pulled him away.
…
After receiving a few more “gifts”, Prince Kagari finally went for the banquet as the sky grew dark.
…
Kagari: I had some prior engagements today.
As the day approached its end, the hustle and bustle gradually settled down.
The night deepened. Under the light of the lanterns illuminating the street, I sat beneath a cherry blossom tree.
I heard footsteps approaching me.
(... He really came.)
Prince Kagari sat close by in a spot next to me beneath the cherry blossom tree like it was the most natural thing to do.
Emma: Has the banquet ended?
Kagari: Not yet.
Emma: You managed to slip away.
Kagari: Your summon is more important.
Cat: Nyaa
The approving meow came from Calico No.1, the cat Prince Kagari introduced to me earlier in the day.
It playfully brushed against his feet before wandering off after receiving gentle pets.
(I entrusted that little one with my letter. Looks like it was properly delivered to Prince Kagari.)
Kagari: You changed your clothes.
Emma: Yes, I wanted to meet you as my usual self.
Emma: If I’m going to celebrate your birthday, I want to do it as the version of me you met in Kogyoku.
Kagari: …
Emma: Happy birthday, Prince Kagari.
Swallowing my slight nervousness, I held out the cherry blossom-patterned package I had hidden behind my back.
His facial expression didn’t change as he accepted it.
However, he didn't refuse it either.
Prince Kagari deftly unwrapped the package and quickly took out its contents.
Kagari: A book?
Emma: It’s a storybook from Rhodolite.
Emma: You’ve taught me many wonderful things about Kogyoku.
Emma: It’s thrilling to discover new things about the world that I’ve never known before, so…
Emma: I chose this book because I want you to experience that thrill too. It’s one of my favourites.
Emma: … And, if possible, I thought it might help convey Rhodolite’s charm too…
Kagari: The book is set in Rhodolite?
Emma: That’s right! It’s a collection of heartwarming short stories.
Emma: It’s the perfect remedy when you’re feeling worn out.
(Especially when peaceful moments are rare for Prince Kagari…)
(I want him to feel at ease, even if it’s only for a brief moment.)
Kagari: I almost forgot you’re a book merchant.
Kagari: You’re probably the only one who’d think of giving me a book.
Prince Kagari took a curious look at the book’s cover and started flipping through the pages.
He seemed interested as his eyes followed the text.
(There was a chance he’d be uninterested in it, so I’m glad he didn't refuse the gift.)
Emma: … I’m relieved I could properly celebrate your birthday.
I let my guard down, and those words slipped my tongue before I could stop myself.
Kagari: You’re overthinking it. I’d never find it bothersome to be celebrated.
(As expected, Prince Kagari saw right through my thoughts.)
Emma: But your detached reaction to all the greetings and gifts made me rather worried that you would.
Kagari: … Did I come off that way?
He closed the book and lowered his jade-green eyes in a rare gesture.
Kagari: It’s not that I dislike being celebrated, or that I’m uninterested in birthdays.
Kagari: It’s just… I still don’t know what I should be feeling when I’m being celebrated.
Kagari: It’s been a recent problem for me.
(That’s surprising… I didn’t think his indifferent attitude was simply because he’s not used to being celebrated.)
Besides now knowing of this unexpectedly adorable side of the Yasha, there was another thing I realised.
(... “A recent problem”?
(Birthdays come every year, right? He wouldn’t call it a “recent problem” if it’s always bothered him every year…)
(Come to think of it, it’s indeed strange. As the Prince of Kogyoku, Prince Kagari should’ve had plenty of opportunities to be celebrated.)
(And yet, he’s not used to it…)
I hesitated to probe further, as I didn't want to disrespect his boundaries — and so I decided to keep my thoughts to myself.
(... I’m still having some uncertain feelings about the way the townspeople celebrate him, but…)
(As long as Prince Kagari doesn’t dislike it, I suppose there’s nothing for me to say.)
As our conversation came to an end, a gentle breeze blew, sending cherry blossom petals dancing in the air as they fell.
(Wow…)
Emma: It’s beautiful.
Turning away from Prince Kagari, I reached out toward the falling petals—
Emma: Prince Kagari?
I blinked in surprise when he suddenly gripped my skirt tightly.
Kagari: You’ve been thinking about my birthday all day long, and now you’re completely mesmerised by cherry blossoms?
His tone sounded slightly sulky.
Emma: Of course I’m still thinking about your birthday.
Emma: I just think that it looks as though the cherry blossoms are celebrating too…
Kagari: Just you celebrating it is enough. Don’t look away.
(... He’s acting kind of like a spoiled child.)
Realising that this might be Prince Kagari’s way of trying his very best to express his desire, given his unfamiliarity with being celebrated, I couldn't help but smile.
Kagari: … What are you smiling about?
Emma: It’s nothing.
While I tried to keep my expression composed, Prince Kagari’s puzzled expression softened.
(Whoa…)
It was the first smile I’d seen from him all day.
(... He finally smiled.)
(Even if it’s only for this one moment, as long as good memories were made on his birthday, my efforts were worthwhile.)
Not wanting him to notice my racing heart, I turned my gaze back onto the cherry blossoms, but the wrinkles in the fabric of my skirt deepened as he tightened his grip.
Silence fell between us as the wind carried the sounds of ongoing festivities in the background.
Emma: … I planned to only give you your gift, but we ended up talking for quite a while.
Emma: Shouldn’t you return to the banquet soon, Prince Kagari?
Kagari: …
Kagari: Princess, don’t you want to keep the yasha all to yourself?
Emma: I think I’ve already monopolised you enough.
Although I said that feeling remorseful, he didn't release his grip on my skirt.
Kagari: … I’m staying right here.
Emma: Then… I’ll take you up on the offer.
When I nodded, Prince Kagari shifted himself to sit closer next to me.
Our bodies touched, and the warmth seeped into my heart.
(He chose to stay by my side on such a special day.)
From the restless atmosphere, I somewhat got a sense of what he was expecting.
Emma: Can I continue celebrating your birthday for a little while longer?
Kagari: Yeah.
With the book in hand, Prince Kagari leaned against me.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/762ede6bd0257ac41e056ed0ac7b0fc4/2923df653371131d-2a/s540x810/68dac01e4d311c01b45808186c75058cfc4a0161.jpg)
Kagari: If you want to celebrate, do it. I can’t guarantee I’ll safely make it to my next birthday.
Emma: … I don’t like such jokes.
Kagari: I’m not joking. But rest assured that I want you to celebrate my birthday over and over again.
(If this is how he feels, I’ll have to make sure all of my celebrations leave a lasting impression on him.)
Like a cat seeking affection, I accepted his act of affection while disregarding my rapidly beating heart.
…
— A few days later.
When I stepped out of the inn, a cat rubbed up against me.
(It’s Calico No.1.)
Today, the cat wore a tiny rucksack and looked up at me as though to say “open it”.
I opened up the rucksack to find a small, palm sized letter.
Upon unsealing it, a short slip of paper and a cherry blossom petal fell into my hand.
“Thanks to the book you gave me, I won’t be bored for a while. Full marks for you, Princess.”
(He likes the book I gave him.)
(If I have the chance to celebrate his birthday again next year, maybe he’ll be a little more joyful when accepting the celebration.)
(... I really hope that'll happen.)

Genshin Rewrite: Lumine, Aether and Celestia Backstory Notes
This is the part where I completely rip apart established lore, grab the chunks I think are important and stitch it all back together using educated guesses and a lot of inspiration from IRL mythology, primarily Greek. (Also, I think a lot of the details we do have are completely unnecessary, so this is really simplified.)
This is all part of a project to redesign Genshin as a contained party-based RPG, and is a thought experiment into "how can I change Genshin to make it something that suits my taste?"
Uh, I changed a lot. Mostly regarding Aether and Lumine's assumed origins. Additional notes explaining my thought process will crop up in a separate post, bc that got pretty long on its own too...
Anyway, I can finish Mond and Liyue after this.
Characters:
Lumine - the playable character. A being created by the Shade of Life stranded in Teyvat sometime during the Cataclysm, before being sealed away. Her memories of what happened back then are a mess, but surely finding the other Gnoses meeting the other Archons will help her find her brother...
Aether - the Abyss Prince and Nox' firstborn child, born from Phanes' flesh and Nyx' blood. Rebelled against his mother after the Cataclysm and is trying to overthrow the current world order.
Hemera - Aether's twin sister. Her body was carved into the 7 Gnoses after the Archon War, and is a contributing factor in Aether's betrayal of Nox. Aether hopes that when Lumine "regains her memories" by collecting the 7 Gnoses, she will return to being the Hemera he remembers.
Paimon - the bestest travel companion ever, and the Shade of Life created by Phanes. She lost a lot of her power by creating Lumine after the Cataclysm, and wants to restore Phanes to power.
Asmoday - the Unknown God/Sustainer of the Heavenly Principles, and the Shade of Void. Like Paimon, remains loyal to Phanes.
Nox - the Second Descender/Second Who Came, and the power currently ruling Celestia.
Phanes - The Heavenly Principles/The First Descender and the one that originally conquered Teyvat, overthrown by Nox prior to the Archon War. What's left of him was sealed in the Abyss.
Things Being Cut:
Any storyline regarding the 7 Sovereign Dragons surviving to this day. A lot of additional details regarding the Vishaps have also been nixed. Any speculation regarding them, Nibelung, etc. is gone.
Most of Natlan's AQ and current storyline.
A whoooole lot of background characters/factions involved in the fall of Khaenri'ah. We have 6 relevant figures - the 5 Sinners (identities remixed) and Dainsleif.
The Heavenly Principles and the Second Who Came
Millennia ago, a world is destroyed. It's not Teyvat. The survivors are a handful of deities that fled to the stars. Two of these are Phanes and Nox. Like humans require food and water, the divine require "belief" and "worship" to live. Starving, lonely and miserable, the two eventually stumbled across Teyvat - a habitable world that the two could survive in. The original inhabitants - the Vishaps, who worshipped the Seven Sovereigns, refused to bow to the newcomers.
So - Phanes and Nox defeated the Sovereigns, took control, terraformed Teyvat physically and conceptually, created the Shades and eventually created humanity... to convert Teyvat into a world that could sustain them.
Phanes and Nox began to disagree on where to take this new world from there. Phanes wanted to rule benevolently over humanity and the new elemental beings born from the remants of the Sovereigns' power as their new God-Kings in a brand new world order, while Nox wanted to recreate their old divine race and didn't care for the new world Phanes envisioned at all.
Nox turned on Phanes, consuming his flesh to steal his divine power and casting what was left of him into the Abyss. The Shades complied with her rule to maintain world order, though seethed at the betrayal.
With the power stolen from Phanes, Nox gave birth to (and divided his power between) two new gods - the divine twins Aether and Hemera, to maintain Teyvat while she began the long process of preparing to create a race of new gods.
In Teyvat itself, she declared the Archon War, and let all beings existing on the planet go to war over the right to take seats in Celestia.
Aether joined his mother in administrating the heavens, while Hemera spectated the Archon Wars and consumed the remains (and power) of the fallen. When the war concluded, Hemera gladly sacrificed herself for her mother's beautiful vision of a new world; her body was carved into 7 Gnoses, containing Phanes' and Nox' power, as well as the elemental energy of the remains of the gods Hemera had harvested during the war.
Nox and the Teyvat System
It's pretty simple. Nox is a hands-off and disinterested goddess, recuperating in Celestia from her battle with Phanes. The 7 Archons were assigned their roles as "floor managers", to uphold Celestia's Laws and were given the Gnoses to facilitate that (the specifics, she could care less about.) Nox only takes interest if anyone breaks one of the divine laws or fails a task to the extent she is insulted by it, and even its to exact petty retribution.
Visions are given to extraordinary people. The best of those can ascend to Celestia when they die. Once they do, their souls can be reforged into new gods. Nox can recreate her old species.
Since Aether and Hemera were primarily built from Phanes, she doesn't really care about them. They were always fairly disposable. The loss of the Gnoses, the cornerstone of her plan to rebuild her race, is a different matter.
What happens to Teyvat after that...
Lumine, Aether, Paimon and Asmoday (the Unknown God)
Phanes has rotted away in the Abyss for millennia. During this time, at least 2 of the 4 Shades he originally created waited for a chance to return their master to his rightful place as the creator-god of Teyvat.
Once he has regained his lost glory, he can get defeat Nox and undo the damage she's done to Teyvat...
It was decided that the best way to heal Phanes was to return the power that Nox stole back to him - Hemera and Aether. Aether is one thing, but Hemera is in pieces.
During the Cataclysm, Natlan is devastated by the Abyss and the Pyro Gnosis is assumed lost forever. In reality, this piece of Hemera was retrieved by the Shade of Life, who expended an enormous amount of her power to recreate her. This child, Lumine, is used as bait to lure Aether in...
We've seen the start of the game. Aether tries to escape the Cataclysm with what he thinks is his sister. The Unknown God stops him. Wings destroyed, powers sealed and Celestia beyond his reach, Aether is stranded in Teyvat.
Initially pleased to have the chance to see what he'd been protecting all this time and to have the opportunity to help the survivors, Aether very quickly became disillusioned. War, suffering, strife - even without the Abyss.
"My sister died for this...? This is what she gave her life for? Nox killed her so she could elevate the best of these people to the heavens?" And as for Phanes... he'd bring her back, to die again?
Aether returned to the Abyss after he completed his journey around the world, forging an alliance with the similarly minded but heavily weakened Abyss Order. So begins the story of the Abyss Prince, who wants to overturn Celestia's vision for humanity and the Progenitor's plans to regain control...
Lumine landed in Mondstadt and lay there undisturbed until the modern day, until the Shade of Life found her and used almost all of her remaining power to wake her up.
Lumine will gain elemental abilities over the course of the game once she encounters the other Gnoses. Guided by Paimon, Lumine will one day be led to Phanes. She will not survive this encounter.
Aether would appreciate her regaining her power too, though for different reasons - he misses his sister, and wants her to join his rebellion against the divine. That said, Aether despises the surface world for disrespecting Hemera's original sacrifice and wants them gone as much as the Abyss Order does, so... good luck to him there.
Lumine's memories are extremely fragmented, though not badly enough that she'd notice at first. She has memories of travelling with Aether, but they might be Hemera's. She has memories of travelling the cosmos, but they might be Nox's. She has no memory of Hemera's life, though that may change the more she comes into contact with the other Gnoses.
The Lost Nation, Natlan
Natlan is the nation directly above Khaenri'ah.
To most of Teyvat, Natlan never existed and the Pyro Archon vanished sometime ago. To those that remember the Cataclysm, Natlan and it's Archon fell holding back the Abyss. The reality is that Natlan never stopped fighting the Abyss, and holds back the bulk of its forces to this day.
Natlan is the victim of Celestia's frustrations during the Cataclysm - the Pyro Gnosis was lost in the conflict, Natlan's resurrection ritual spat in the face of one of Celestia's laws and the fake sky was discovered. Thanks to Celestia's memory-warping powers, most of Teyvat has completely forgotten about them. As punishment for these failures, Natlan fights a long and vicious battle completely alone.
These days, Pyro Visions are extraordinarily rare and anyone that gets one is assumed to be an amazing person with a grand destiny ahead of them.
As an aside, due to having the Pyro Gnosis for a heart (though her powers greatly restricted by Asmoday), Lumine first awakens with the power of Pyro. The location of the Pyro Gnosis is a mystery, but it's assumed to be hidden somewhere in Natlan or in the Abyss' possession.
Luckily, Lumine doesn't make friends with any Fatui Harbingers that might be required to reclaim it once they figure out where it is!

Hi! Can I request for a fic? This one's for genshin impact's master Diluc. Like, accidentally wearing his clothes or something he owns while in a secret relationship... For higher stakes, make it pretty controversial like... A royal AU, or families are enemies kinda thing 😭
Only if you're fine with it, of course :>
hello! im so sorry this took so long
I went with a royal AU! hope you enjoy!
You were the heir to the throne of Mondstadt.
Many people had high expectations of you, including your parents, your people, and also your fiance; The youngest child to the royal family in Liyue.
Mondstadt and Liyue had been allies for generations, however with Sneznya on the rise, a need for an official symbol of the alliance was needed.
It’s not that you hated prince Xiao of Liyue, you were even friends with him and his older siblings before they died in battle.
But you did not love him, nor did he have feelings for you.
Currently, the two of you were supposed to be “getting to know each other” despite having already known each other since birth.
So instead of talking…
“You’re an idiot.” Xiao watched you attempt to climb out the window on the rope you had hidden.
“It’ll be fine! I’ve done this a bunch of times before and I’ve never been caught!”
You slide down the rope and make it to a tree branch that you can safely climb down from.
“Oh shoot! Hey Xiao, on my dresser there’s a pendant with a phoenix on it! Could you toss it down for me?”
Xiao goes to turn to find the object you described but stops.
“A phoenix? You mean the Ragnvindr sigil? I know you love the man but don’t you think wearing his family's sigil is a bit much even for you?” He speaks lowly as he turns back to you
“Stop worrying so much! I’ll keep my hood up and it’ll be down my shirt anyways!”
“If it’s not going to be visible then why is it so important you have it?” Xiao scowls in confusion.
You look down in contemplation.
“I don’t know. It Just doesn’t feel right to not have a part of him with me at all times.”
You hear a sigh and look up in time to see Xiao throw the pendant to you.
“Thank you! I’ll be back before sun down!” You smile and climb down the tree, slowly but surely walking out of sight from the prince.
Xiao sighs.
“Be careful, you fool.”
<~~~-~~~>
As you walked into town you made sure you had your hood up. Normally if you were just going for a walk through town, you’d gladly let your people see you! You love talking to the people of Mondstadt, and the people love you too.
But times like this are different. Times when you sneak through crowds to get to a certain tavern, or sometimes to a certain manor.
In today’s case, you were on your way to the tavern known as Angel’s Share.
Angel’s Share was owned by the Ragnvindr’s, a wealthy and renowned family in Mondstdat.
The late Lord Ragnvindr, Crepus, passed in a great battle. And now his eldest son, Diluc was the head of the family.
Diluc was well loved by the people. Unlike most Lords, he walked among the people, and worked at the tavern himself most days.
And Diluc was exactly who you were hoping to see.
You and the young Lord met at his Father’s funeral. As a royal, and ad Diluc’s father being a respected man, you showed up to pay respects on behalf of your family.
You were worried about the man, so you continued to visit in the following days.
Days turned to weeks, weeks to months, months to 4 whole years. And before you knew it, the two of you were in a secret relationship, filled with longing glances and fleeting touches.
Originally, you two of you probably would’ve been able to get married no issues seen as how Diluc is a high-esteemed Lord. However your engagement to Xiao changed things.
And that is why you are now sneaking through your own city just to see your own lover.
You enter the bustling tavern, scanning the crowd for the red hair you’re so familiar with.
Before long you see Diluc and start making your way to him excitedly.
As you try to navigate the sea of people, someone bumps you, causing you to knock you into another person.
A yelp escapes you as you fall to the ground in front of your lover.
People around you murmur and the men who bumped you apologise.
But the crowd goes silent at the view of the Phoenix pendant that had fallen out of your shirt.
“But.. Master Diluc… is this person your lover?”
At that simple question, the people were in uproar, bombarding you and Diluc with questions.
Diluc grabs your hand and pulls you up to his chest, holding your hood down to protect your identity.
The two of you go through the bar, Charles, the other bartender, makes sure no people follow.
Once out of the tavern, Diluc hails a carriage to take the two of you to his manor. The carriage stops and you both clamber in before anyone can spot you.
Once the carriage is out of the city you take your hood down.
“Are you alright?” are the first words Diluc utter to you.
“Yes, I think so. I-”
“Good. Now what were you thinking? I know it's common for you to sneak out to see me but to wear the pendant and walk into the tavern while it was that busy was foolish.” You cowered into your seat at Diluc’s chastisement.
“What if someone had discovered who you were? We’d never be able to see each other.” His voice is softer when he says this.
Silence encompasses the two of you once more.
“..I don't like taking it off. It feels like you’re always with me when it's on.”
Silence once again.
When you finally look up to meet his gaze, Diluc is wide eyed, mouth agape.
He sighs.
“I’m sorry for getting upset. It wasn’t as if you planned to get pushed over.”
Before you can continue your conversation, the carriage arrives at Diluc’s manor.
The two of you leave the carriage, your hood raised once again until you reach the confines of the master bedroom.
“Diluc, I’m sorry to have worried you. But I don’t regret coming to see you.”
The mentioned red-head looks stunned, a light blush spreading across his face.
He stutters for a moment before making his way towards you and awkwardly pulling your foreheads together.
“..I am glad you came to see me.”
You giggle
“No matter how long we’ve been together, you’re still awkward when it comes to affection.”
He grumbles before he leans in to give you a quick kiss.
“If you’re going to insult me why bother coming to see me at all” he walks away in mock offence, making you laugh more
“Because you love me”
He turns again, and smiles.
“You’re right. I do love you.”
Hope u liked it!

Amidst the noisy conference room due to the nobles arguing, Childe sat silently letting them debate each other. The subjects they talked about were important, but his thoughts were too heavy for him to follow. Not rarely, one of the lords asked about his thoughts on the subject and received no response.
His brain is somewhere else.
Even though he hadn't shed a tear at the day of death and also the funeral, it was hard for him to go even a second without thinking about what had happened to his father. Emptiness came with many questions that he couldn't fathom.
As if they could read his mind, the topic shifted to the King's death.
“What about the late King's death investigation? Are there any findings yet?” one of the nobles asked, starting a new conversation.
Dmitri, who during the conference acted as Childe's spokesperson, had chosen to remain silent, shaking his head in shame. "Not yet, Your Excellency." He gave an answer.
The whole room expressed their disappointment. Various words that were too soft and fast added an atmosphere that made anyone who felt it impatient. The nobles of Snezhnaya are frustrated and confused.
"Why haven't there been any findings yet? This is important! We must find out who dared to threaten Snezhnaya's land and kill the late king!"
"That's right!"
"Gentlemen, please maintain your composure."
The person's voice miraculously silenced them, leaving only the echoes of the conversation earlier before attention shifted to the man who rose from his seat. Aside from his recognizable handsome face, Duke Maxim emphasized his existence with the determined look he threw at their prince.
Rumors had long been circulating about him being one of the people who were with the late king before the incident occurred, automatically making him the one who witnessed the king's death in person. The nobles wondered if he was here to say anything about it.
“Your Highness, Prince Childe. If I am permitted to testify, I will tell the truth about what occurred that day."
Despite the fact that he mentioned something unexpected again, none of the nobles dared to interrupt him. The ginger-haired man was the center of attention as everyone awaited his approval for Maxim to speak.
There was a pause before Childe said, "Speak."
Now that he has received his permission, and he then began to speak, "On that tragic day, I and His Majesty were sipping tea with Prince Shiva of Liyue and Her Highness Princess (Y/N)."
From the mention of your name, his fingers stiffen.
"Everything seemed fine at first." Maxim took a deep breath, giving a tense pause to those listening. “Everything seemedfine.. until His Majesty took a sip of his tea and suddenly coughed up blood before falling to the floor convulsing.”
Some of the nobles started whispering under their breath. Childe remained frozen in his seat.
"For something so terrible to happen when His Majesty met the Prince... it needs to be looked at more thoroughly."
Childe had already deduced what Maxim was attempting to tell him from his sentence. However, something in his heart was reluctant to believe it so he had the urge to ask and confirm it again.
"What are you implying?" He said, cold and dangerous.
“The possible mastermind behind all this,”—Maxim made sure he looked him in the eyes—“is Prince Shiva.”
Instantly, the room erupted in disbelief. The nobles whispered, some agreed with his assumptions, while the rest were still in doubt. As if the bomb he dropped wasn't enough to blow up the atmosphere, Maxim opened his mouth again.
"And that doesn't rule out the possibility that Princess (Y/N) is involved in it."
Blue eyes shot open. Childe was beside himself in a split second, filled with rage and confusion.
That's impossible.. right?
Childe had no idea where to direct his rage. As for Shiva, he was pretty sure he was the one capable of such dirty ways. But you? He couldn’t imagine you getting into this. However, what if it turns out that he doesn't know you very well and that you truly assisted your older brother in his vile act? Without realizing it, Childe began to be eaten up by doubts which were then followed by feelings of betrayal even though the facts had not been confirmed.
“Duke, are you certain about this?” one of the nobles asked.
"Of course! And I'm not stating this without proof." Maxim took something out of his pocket and put it on the teak table. "On that day, I asked a researcher to examine the tea's composition, and the results showed that a toxic flower called Silence was present,"
A white petalled blossom on a handkerchief completely captured the attention of the entire table.
Maxim glanced at Childe, "Uniquely, this flower only grows in Liyue."
Liyue.
Fingernails dug into palms from how tightly Childe clenched his fists. Molar teeth rubbed against each other from his efforts to hold back the anger that had reached its peak.
Why is this happening?
Not only had he lost his father, now Childe had to accept that there was a possibility that this was all the doing of the Prince of Liyue. When he was ready to give up all his ambitions about destroying it—just for your sake—he was faced with a dilemma in choosing between avenging his father and burying this, as his parents had done with Anton's death.
“If what Duke Maxim said is true, Your Highness, you must quickly take action to imprison Prince Shiva!”
"Are you mad?! Without solid proof, it will only cause diplomatic problems. You must remember that the Emperor will not remain silent!”
One lashed back, splitting the group into two. The sound of chairs being pushed back was heard as the nobles stood up from their seats. The atmosphere became uncontrollably chaotic, as if these people had forgotten that the Crown Prince was still sitting among them.
“What more proof are you waiting for?! That is evident! Liyue has once again waged war on us!” One response followed another.
"In that case, His Highness should also take action on Princess (Y/N)—"
A fist slammed onto the table. The chatter died down as the nobles' attention was drawn to Childe, who stood with pale knuckles. He raised his head, revealing a deadly brilliant blue, his glare as if to warn that anyone who dared to open their mouths one more time would die.
"Talk like that again and I'll line up all of your heads on this table."
Everyone in the room knew that wasn't an empty threat. Even though there was no sword at his side, they knew Childe was more than capable of figuring out how to do that. They resumed their seats in a civilized manner as if the ruckus had never happened. However, in a situation that was conducive again, Childe could no longer see a purpose in it when his mind was so chaotic.
Dmitri watched the man rise from his chair to leave the conference room.
How ironic.
The hallway he took to go to his room resounded with the sound of his shoes hitting the floor. Childe took wide and fast steps, he never stopped to catch his breath. So why didn't the heaviness in his shoulders go away? He felt as though the entire weight of the planet was being placed on his feet.
Childe was about ready to give up everything. He has made many decisions based on his half brain with love. Why did something like this have to happen?
The door to his room was slammed by him after he entered. Childe couldn't decide whether the emptiness or the rage that was suddenly consuming him was worse. Where should he throw this strong emotion? Who should he be angry with? He got the impression that the world tended to intervene in his life just when he was about to experience bliss.
His thoughts were interrupted by the door opening violently. The blue eyes widened as they landed on your figure. Your chest rose and fell as you ran here. Yet instead of the usual joy, your arrival this time sparked confusion and doubt.
Before Childe asked anything, you had called his name.
“Ajax!”
For the first time, he felt conflicted from seeing you.
Meanwhile, you scan his face and notice how tired he looks. It must be because of the series of emergency meetings held by the nobles who insisted on discussing the succession as soon as possible. You hesitated to say it until the memory of your vision hit you in the head.
“(Y/N)—“
"Don't go to the conference tomorrow."
It was said so suddenly, you know. However, this is all you do for him, only for him.
“..Why?” Childe asked, softly but not timidly.
That gaze didn't leave you as you took a deep breath before saying: “There is someone planning to kill you.”
Instead of furrowing his brows, his blue eyes widened as if he had expected this to happen. Doubt grew thicker in his mind. The chattering of the nobles from the conference earlier buzzed around saying that maybe they were right about you and Shiva.
But, if that was right, wouldn't it be suicide to tell him this?
Childe never realized what an enigma you were until now. Behind that pretty face, what are you hiding? Where are you standing? Is this a ruse to keep him distracted and unprepared for what comes next? Or maybe you really are telling the truth?
“.. What?”
"That's right!" You try to push away the doubts. “They've had poison ready for you. So, please don't go!”
Childe felt his heartbeat quicken. "Who are they'?"
The silence felt strange. Anxiety anchored in his heart from no answer from you. He didn't miss how you bit your trembling lips. Childe clenched his fists at his sides.
Why are you hesitating?
If you are really the mastermind behind all this, can Childe take an oath to destroy the land of Liyue—which, ironically, is your birthplace? And if one day his heart has that urge, the sweet memory he shared with you.. will it burn with it in the end?
You replay your memory of your vision and are back at a dead end when you find the faces are still as blurry as before. Frustration floods over you, and despair has never been so intense.
"I... I don't know." Is the answer you can give him.
However, all that did was add to the chains holding his mind back from thinking clearly. Childe is in tunnel vision. Your answer he concluded as you were protecting someone—Shiva.
A scoff escaped his lips. "You don’t know?" There was anger inside of him and it got stronger in seconds.
"Then, how did you know about this plan, (Y/N)?"
Childe's last question made you freeze.
This is the end of the big secret you've been keeping hidden. You just didn't think you'd reveal it for his sake. How ironic, didn't you vowed that you'd use it to bring him to his doom? In comparison to now, your despair is caused by his hesitation to trust you. Is it possible that humans were created with a short lifetime to make decisions and then watch themselves turn away from them in the blink of an eye?
There is no turning back now. It's pointless to turn back. Out of fear you might have second thoughts, you don't take a breath before saying it.
"I can see the future."
In this moment, time itself felt endless. You watched the expression on his face change, swept away by somethingno, it wasn't shock—Childe stared at you in such obvious disbelief that you were sure he had thought you were crazy and delusional.
“What?”
From his intonation, your throat tightens. "I know this is hard to believe." What else can you tell him to convince him to believe you? “But, you have to believe me!”
"You think this is the right time to joke around—"
"No!" You yelled. “I'm serious! I can actually see the future!”
Please,
Please, believe me!
A mocking scoff came out of him, though that didn't dampen the anger that was building up inside him. “You think that crazy talk will be enough to cover up your brother's abominations—!”
“I know your agreement with Duke Maxim!”
Your interruption froze his tongue. Now those blue eyes widened under furrowed brows. He was completely speechless, he had nothing else to do but show the shock on his face.
You swallow. "I know you initially planned to use his weaponry in your attack on Liyue after you ascended to the throne." You continued and Childe felt a chill run down his spine. "However, due to the incident that day at the tea party, you decided to terminate all of that."
Just when he thought that was the most shocking thing you could say, you opened your mouth again to tell him something else.
"The day I was poisoned at my own tea party, I had a vision of someone poisoning Lumine's tea."
Childe's chest ached. "Don't tell me you—“
"That's correct," you cut in, hands clenched at your sides, praying for the strength to utter what comes next. "I switched her tea for mine and drank it."
Anger mixed through his veins and flowed through his blood throughout his body. Childe was in flames. His shoulders had never been so heavy, and he was trembling. He is unsure of which is worse—that you did something so crazy, or that you spoke so casually about your confession, as if you had no concerns about yourself.
"Why?" His voice started in a whisper which then escalated into a yell. “Why?! WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT?!”
“Because I know you love her!!”
Was that fact so heartbreaking that you cried after finishing it? Tears fell on the floor. If one collects it in a bottle, it's possible to be able to sink the world with you. Something from your sentence consumes you, eats you alive yet, yet you collected all of your willpower to continue standing in front of him.
A breath you take. "I know you love her so much that I'm afraid it will add to your grudge if something happens to her." You almost whispered, afraid that any louder than that would make your pain more obvious.
The intensity of emotions that once fluctuated like waves returned. Childe felt his head throbbing in pain. However, all of that was eclipsed by a burning sensation in his chest. His heart was filled with guilt and shame, the remainder taken over by doubt—which despite hearing it all—made it hard to believe that you could actually see the future.
“I also know that you intended to kill me from the start.”
Instantly, his airway was blocked by a lump in the back of his throat. Pain coursed through his body along with his limp bones. His tongue had never been this bitter. Those eyes looked as if they were dipped in pain.
Hearing you talk about it in that way makes him wonder if you're really talking about him. Childe realized he had grown too far when he found his former self so foreign. How the world has changed; now, the only thing he wants in the whole world is to keep you safe.
".. Why are you telling me this?" He spoke softly before loudly, "You know I was going to kill you, then why are you telling me all this?!"
“BECAUSE I LOVE YOU!”
Because I love you.. because I love you..
It repeated over and over in his mind from the fear it would evaporate away with the changing of the seasons. Jaws gaping open. It was what he had wanted for the longest time—to hear those three words leave your lips and aim at him.
However, with his heart filled with negativity, he couldn't accept anything even if it was to heal him.
You took a new breath in between your sobs. "Because I love you," Your voice is hoarse, breathy full of emotions.
With this love confession, you're letting him know that it's him that you want. It is his hand that you want to cup and place against your cheek. It is his lips that you want to feel on top of yours. But, for now, Childe should know you're saying this because the only thing you want most in this world is his safety.
"So please.. please.." You whispered after a moment. "The only thing I want of you is to keep yourself safe.”
But what good is a love confession if the listener is deafened by endless emotional turmoil? Childe was still silent, biting the inside of his cheek as he tried to keep his hands from taking you into his arms. For now, he is nothing more than a disarranged soul incapable of giving a warm embrace while whispering honeyed words.
So he stepped past you. The silence was filled with the sound of the door opening before closing again. He has left you.
And so, you cry until you choke on your own tears. Your knees gave way, sending you plunging into the cold now that he had left. It hurts, it hurts so much. The weight pressing against your chest feels so heavy that you are suffocating. Despite that, the love you have for him remains in your heart, reminding you that it has nowhere to go.

Your Kabbalah-Genshin Theory is really insightful, I feel like I've learned so much! Something I noticed about it though is that nine of the Ten Sefirot are associated with a biblical hero, and I was wondering if either the Dragons or Archons match the hero of their respective element. I've only gone over one so far, but I think we're off to a really promising start with Zhongli as King David.
King David's famous weapons were a spear, (given to him by Prince Johnathan,) a shield (the "Shield of David" or "Magen David" was so famous that it became the symbol of the Jewish people,) and the sling, (used to throw rocks.) Zhongli wields a spear, the most powerful shield in the game, and throws really big rocks - combat-wise he fits perfectly.
Speaking of the sling, David's main use of the sling was against Goliath, the giant Philistine warrior. The Philistines were sea-faring invaders from Greece, some times referred to as the "sea people." And Zhongli's ancient battles were regularly about throwing giant rocks at the giant sea monsters invading his land. This might be why all the monsters from his stories are usually sea creatures.
And speaking of Prince Johnathan, it's well known that he and David were close friends, possibly even lovers. But Prince Johnathan died in a massive war, as did his father, King Saul. David didn't arrive until he was already dead, and was apologized to by the dying Saul, (who had made an enemy of David,) who made him the next king. Zhongli's close friend (and possibly lover) Guizhong died in the Archon War, and was dead by the time Zhongli arrived. After defeating the last of the gods in the Archon War, Zhongli was granted the title of Archon and given the authority to rule over Liyue.
It's not a perfect 1:1, but a lot of the big picture stuff matches really well. Technically Zhongli is missing some stuff, like being a musician with a lyre (looking at you, Venti,) but if I had to pick a biblical figure to represent Zhongli then young David during his War Hero phase fits startlingly well. And King David is the figure that represents Malkhut, which is the Sefirot that you ascribed to Geo. (Though according to the Jewish Virtual Library, the matriarch Rachel also fits the bill. But she probably fits better for the Shekinah interpretation than the Malkhut interpretation, since the Shekinah is feminine. Malkhut, meanwhile, means "kingdom" and David was famously a king.)
If this theory holds water upon further examination, then we might be able to predict the story of Genshin going forward. Guizhong might be revealed to be the daughter of one of the gods that Zhongli fought against in the Archon war, for example. And if the Tsaritsa is Abraham then her rebellion against the Heavenly Principles would match young Abraham rebelling against polytheism by destroying his father's idols.
(Also, I just glimpsed at some of the others, and Raiden Ei as Moses is really funny. She doesn't fit at first glance, but she did split an island in two, which is an inversion on a pretty famous Moses symbolism. She also killed a snake, which Moses did when his staff-cobra ate the snakes of those two guys. Now it makes sense why she wields a spear despite being famously a katana wielder - cause Moses was a staff guy. I wonder if Eternity being "closest to the Heavenly Principles" has anything to do with the fact that Moses had direct communication with God, and brought down God's Ten Commandments from Mount Sinai. Anyway, it's really funny that the Archon Quest ended by confronting her to, "Let my people's Visions go!" I wonder if the associated biblical figures aren't 1:1 as much as their story beats are borrowed upon for the associated Archons.)
aaaaahhh thank you for this ask (essay) - your reasoning is 👍 and this has really interesting implications indeed
it's also a hilarious coincidence because back when Schwan and I started working on this theory before Sumeru, during the GAA2, we thought we could connect dreams to dendro and yesod (it was the only of the lower 7 sefirot we couldn't pick a element for) through dreams. This was because Joseph had prophetic dreams, and he is the Biblical character associated with yesod. And then lo and behold, dendro was all about dreams, and not only was Nahida's ideal of wisdom involved with this, she also helped the Traveler through dreams while still in baby jail - like how Joseph interpreted dreams for his fellow inmates when he was in jail.
SOooo i got to thinking about the rest of the Archons:
Focalors/Furina corresponds to Isaac (Gevurah/Judgement), whose most famous Bible story involves him being (almost) sacrificed by his father, Abraham. There are several ways to interpret this one. You could look at is Egeria sacrificing her successor and creation, Focalors, by leaving her to deal with the aftermath of her 'sin,' and the prophecy. OR you could view it as Focalors sacrificing Furina, her creation, in her effort to execute her plan. Either way, Focalors is literally sacrificed and Furina is figuratively sacrificed.
I'm not so sure how to align Venti's backstory with Jacob but he does have a fight with an angel and when he wins, God is like "congrats you have proven yourself and here is a new name". Ironic cause as far as we know, Venti didn't directly fight in the Archon War. If I think of anything more interesting than "Jacob is an absentee father", I'll add it later.
And finally, the pyro Archon would be Aaron, the high priest. Based on the probable inspirations for Natlan, it seems highly likely there will be themes of ritualistic sacrifice. So having the Archon act as a kind of priest or overseer of these rituals fits nicely. This also means 2 memey things: -pyro archon polearm real (Aaron also used a staff) -will we find the remains of the Ark (Teyvat) in Natlan?
much to think about! thank you for writing this and sending it! we appreciate you perfectly normal person <3

Consider the following: Hualian spending a peaceful day in Liyue Harbor, maybe running into a few familiar faces along the way

YOUR ORDER
❥︎ Xie Lian and Hua Cheng spend a relaxing day in Liyue Harbor + running into familiar faces ❥︎ 1,301 words ❥︎ i'm terribly sorry for the late request ! i was focused on a project (that i struggled to finish-) but i hope you enjoy still !
The time is noon, but the orange and yellow lanterns continue to illuminate brightly under the shadows of buildings and bridges. The place is relatively crowded, with people happily greeting each other as they walk by, making it a more welcoming entry for others who wish to visit.
Xie Lian wasn't used to it, yet it gave him a sense of comfort.
He can't help but dart his eyes from building to building, occasionally gazing inside to see the people and materials that decorate the area. "This place is beautiful." Grinning, he says, turning to face the tall man standing next to him. "Have you been here before?"
"I have." Hua Cheng's arms are securely crossed as he stares down at Xie Lian, noting his sigh. He shouldn't be surprised that he's been here before. Even though they were together, a part of him remained a mystery.
Xie Lian's gaze wanders once more as he thinks to himself. "That means you can walk me around?" He asks with a small head tilt, focused on the man's face, quick to notice his low chuckle as he continues walking. "I wish I could, but my previous stay here was fairly brief. But don't you think we can still experience it together?"
"Heh, I guess so."
The crowned prince couldn't stop looking at the people and the decorations. To him, the ethereal nature of the area reminded him of heaven, or perhaps he was exaggerating. Actually, looking around him, this place felt more like heaven than heaven itself. If any god heard him spew such nonsense, who knows what their reaction would be. Although, to him, their reactions to his talking about most things in general may be the reason why heaven does not feel like heaven, even if what they say doesn't bother him.
Exploring Liyue Harbor they went, scouting the various locations and met some strange people along the way. Xie Lian almost stopped to talk to them, but he was so preoccupied with everything else that he hardly noticed them pass by. Perhaps another time, he thinks.
"Gege." Hua Cheng comes to a stop, staring at his significant other beside him. "We're practically on the other side of Liyue, was there anything you wanted?"
Xie Lian smiles up at him and chuckles lightly, but he waves his hands in front of him. "Were you planning on buying me something?" He lowers his arms. "Just visiting the place is all of a gift I need."
Before Hua Cheng could speak up, he notices Xie Lian shift his eyes behind him, causing the ghost to turn around to see what has caught his attention. He chuckles to himself. "Well what are those two doing here?"
To think that the two would encounter other gods here, especially given those two aren't exactly on favorable terms. The two are sitting at an outdoor table with food in front of one of them, and a young woman stands beside the table, talking to them excitedly. This woman looks to be one of the strange people he had encountered. Maybe this time he will be able to stop by and talk to her.
Hua Cheng crosses his arms. "Your friend looks rather uncomfortable with that girl." And he did. Feng Xin's pale skin and stiff body made it clear to all around him that he doesn't want her to stay because of his discomfort, but she refuses to leave. Mu Qing, on the other hand, appears unconcerned as he eats his noodles in silence.
Finally, Xie Lian approaches the three, catching their full attention. He waves and gives them a little nervous smile. "I wasn't expecting to see you two here." He speaks honestly.
The female speaks first before either of the two gods can. "Ah! Are you also here to eat? I have so many dishes for you two to try!"
Wow, she looks incredibly excited. It reminds Xie Lian like a small child, especially with her lively personality. It was kind of sweet in his opinion. By the way he looks at her, he assumes Hua Cheng has taken a liking of her as well. "Well," he begins, averting his eyes to Xie Lian. "The food here smells pleasant, don't you think?"
Xie Lian's smile grows as he stares up at the taller man. Gods didn't have to consume food if they didn't want to, but seeing one of them slurping noodles while the other looks to be waiting for his food must mean that the food here was truly delicious. He couldn't deny that the smell alone makes him hungry.
He didn't even have to respond for Hua Cheng to know he agreed based on his facial expression. So he pulls two chairs from a nearby table and drags them back to the small group so that the two newcomers can join. Xie Lian takes a seat in a chair and raises an eyebrow at the woman. "Have any recommendations?"
The girls' already-bright eyes brighten even more, as if that were possible. Her smile was large, but it was tinted with tranquility. "I've got a few! What about Honey Char Siu?" Xie Lian adjusts himself in the chair. "The flavor of the marinated and roasted pork is well-balanced, with an added touch of sweetness from the honey. It's been strangely popular lately."
Xie Lian lets out a breath, his smile unwavering. He was the type of man who wasn't too concerned with the quality of most foods. He wouldn't mind eating anything months old because he wasn't a human. However, just the thought of trying a new dish that he could enjoy made him feel a little excited.
He extends his arms outward and rests one palm on top of the other, gazing up at the younger-looking woman. "That sounds incredible. I would be happy to give it a try if that is what you suggest."
"I'll take some too." Hua Cheng's cheek is resting on his hand as he looks up at the female, seeing her big smile. "Coming right up!"
She then runs inside a small building, and after leaving the crowned prince's sight, he tilts his head to stare at the two gods. Feng Xin looks away for a minute, unwilling to stare into his old friend's eyes. He expected a question or two.
"You two are eating together?"
Mu Qing nearly choked on his noodles. He looks at Xie Lian almost as if he is glaring at him. "It's not like that." He says harshly as he swirls one of his chopsticks through the thin noodles in the bowl. "I was already eating here until he showed up."
His voice was full of disdain, but he doesn't bother to continue and returns to eating his meal. Hua Cheng hums as he reclines in his chair. "You seemed to be okay with sitting here with him."
He was clearly teasing the two, seemingly fining enjoyment in their annoyed expressions. However, because Xie Lian brought up such a topic, the two ended up arguing for quite some time, even disregarding the food when it arrived for the three.
Despite how bothersome or nerve-racking it can be for Xie Lian to watch these two quarrel, he can't help but feel at ease. Maybe their arguments get heated at times, resulting in fist fights, yet no matter how many fights these two have, they, along with Xie Lian and Hua Cheng, always end up together as friends.
It quickly developed a sense of familiarity. The familiarity began to feel like home. When he thought about the ethereal sensation of heaven, a home, he did not think of Heaven itself or Liyue Harbor.
Neither of them were home.
But being surrounded by the people he cherishes are what he truly believes to feel like home.

Good evening I hope you're doing well ! (Sorry if my English is particular, I am French and therefore not always very comfortable with English)
I haven't been in the yandere sphere for very long, especially in Genshin Impact.
------------------------‐------
But I can't stop imagining a reader reincarnated in the world of Teyvat and becoming a deity in this world.
So pretty close to the Sagau/Yandere Cult content.
Now imagine that instead of being reincarnated in a relatively peaceful nation like Mondstadt.
Our reader is instead reincarnated in the frozen lands of Snezhnaya, on the forecourt of the Zapolyarny Palace where the reader is found unconscious by the Harbingers.
-------------------‐---------
After that, I'll have to work a little more on my script and I'd like to know what you could do with it!
Thanks again 😁
Omg anon I love this so much! (And your English is great, I wouldn't have known you weren't a native speaker if you hadn't told me!)
I think that Mondstadt or Liyue would be the best nations to reincarnate in, personally. Since Mondstadt is all about freedom and Liyue is all about structure. Zhongli definitely would have been prepared for something like this and ready.
But to imagine you being taken in by the Harbingers? I think it would be a debate between you're now worshiped by them like the Tsaritsa OR you would be held up in some kind of prison.
You're their pretty perfect little god. They absolutely must keep you safe. Don't worry about going outside or what the rest of Teyvat is like. Snezhnaya is the best.
But Anon, what if you're sent to the Abyss? You could meet Abyss Princess/Prince and rule with them. You could be the one who raises them out of the Abyss and saves them all.
Sounds like a lot, doesn't it? Don't worry, Aether is used to this sort of work. And when Lumine joins the Abyss, she'll help too. Don't worry your pretty little head about it.
I am LIVING for this idea anon, please work on it more and send me everything you think of! I would read more in a heartbeat.

Chapter 3: Awakening
TW: attempted murder, talks of execution, summoner gets sadistic.
_______________________________________________
A few days before the festival. After much deliberation you decided the heroes of Fodlan would be a perfect choice for a good first impression of the Order of Heroes to Liyue. You justified bringing this many heroes by telling a half truth, Beidou isn't known for being quiet and for some people being royalty is enough to make someone a target. Bernadetta is there as well, but knowing her you told her she only has to leave the ship if she's needed, after all a festival is meant to be fun, forcing someone to go defeats the purpose. You've already talked to Ingrid and Holst about keeping Sylvain and Balthus on a tight leash, also informing the latter two to be on their best behavior.
Raphael: Hey (Y/N), why did we need to bring all this food? Aren't we going to a festival?
(Y/N): Because, we're not sure what currency Teyvat uses, if they don't use gold the stalls will be all we can get anything from, and that's only some stalls.
Ignatz: So, in short gold may not be a valid currency, you really think of everything summoner.
Raphael: Is it really something they need to think about? I mean, every world we've been to takes gold don't they?
Leonie: Not every world, what about that Tokyo place?
(Y/N): Exactly, it may be a slim chance, but it's still something we need to prepare for.
Anna: Oh!! The currency totally slipped my mind!
(Y/N): Really? I expected you of all people to be on top of that.
You and the others all share a laugh before being interrupted by Caspar.
Caspar: Hey guys, you've got to get up here its crazy!
Everyone rushes to see what the young brawler was going on about, only to be greeted by a slew of lanterns lighting the night sky. While everyone was enamored by the beauty of the harbor at night, you couldn't help but recall those cold sleepless nights during the hunt. Your ship soon reached the docks and you were greeted by an unexpected face.
Ningguang: Welcome, everyone, to Liyue harbor. My name is Ningguang, I am the Tianquan of the Liyue Qixing, once I heard we were welcoming royalty, I figured I'd see to it personally.
(Y/N): Uh, you weren't waiting here all day, were you?
Ningguang: No need to concern yourself, I could see you approaching from the Jade Chamber, only then did I decide to come down and greet you. Now, I hate to bring business into the conversation, but I'd like to discuss finances, as I've heard your island is from another world entirely...
(Y/N): Apologies lady Ningguang, but the prince and princess are not responsible for such things as the king and queen still hold the throne, they are only responsible for minor things, well minor by comparison anyways.
Ningguang: Is that so? How unfortunate, I suppose I'll simply have to visit this kingdom myself. Anyways, with that you all enjoy yourselves.
Ningguang makes her departure, and you notice a crowd has started to gather, you can hear whispers and murmurs from every direction. Suddenly a figure comes running out of the crowd and up to all of you.
Xinyan: Hi there, I'm Xinyan, Liyue's one and currently only rock artist, pleasure to meet all of you.
Dorothea: Rock? Oh, I know that apparently it was a major hit in the summoner's world, I've been dying to here it, but the summoner can't play for the life of them and no one could teach them a genre they've only heard of.
Xinyan: Well you're in luck, cause I've got a show happenin tonight, it'll take place over. OH, right you haven't been here before, sorry I nearly forgot, c'mon I'll show ya round.
With that Dorothea and a few others left with Xinyan, you try your best to navigate the crowd of people before bumping into someone.
(Y/N): OOF, my apologies, this city is far too crowded, are you alright?
Xiangling: Oh, I'm fine, more importantly, are you those people from that island, I've been so curious about that place ever since it appeared, please tell me everything.
Xingqiu: Xiangling, perhaps you should back up, I take it from their expression they are not quite used to large crowds such as this.
Xiangling looks at you closely, while you are wearing your hood and mask, she could still make out your discomfort from your mouth.
Xiangling: Ah, sorry I got a little too excited.
(Y/N): It's fine, but you're better off asking someone else as I'm a recent arrival there myself.
Xiangling nods and runs off, Xingqiu bows and follows her. As much as you'd like to stay close to your friends, the crowd really is a bit much at the moment so you exit the city's front gate, heading for the nearest teleport waypoint. As you breathe a sigh of relief, you're startled by the sound of approaching footsteps, you turn to see the traveler and Paimon.
(Y/N): Huh!? W-Who's there?
Aether: Whoa there, easy we're just on our way to Liyue, we didn't mean to frighten you.
(Y/N): Sorry, I had to leave the city the crowd was a bit much for me, so I was still a tad on edge.
Aether: I see, would you like some company, it may help you calm down
(Y/N): That would be nice, thank you.
The traveler sat next to you, and the two of you traded stories.
Aether: So you've been to war huh? I can see why crowds overwhelm you now.
Paimon: Yeah, it can't be good for your mind to always be looking for threats around you.
(Y/N): Yeah, but you two have been through a lot to, and all to find your sister.
The three of you sat in silence, Paimon floating as usual, before another set of footsteps approach.
Paimon: Huh? Ah, traveler!
Aether: What is it, huh!?
When the three of you turn around there's a vicious looking individual holding a blade, and wearing your face. This individual says nothing before attempting to stab you. You dodge and ready your weapon.
Aether: You have some nerve showing yourself today of all days.
Imposter: Hehehe, you see this face boy, I'm your god, I'm the one who's meant to rule this world, me, me, MEEE! If you stand in my way, you'll pay with your head!!
You and the traveler dodge their swings again and again, but everytime you two try to strike they dodge or block, they seem to have done some intense training if they can handle the both of you.
Aether: Hey,look out!!
Shaken from your thoughts, you turn to see the fiend's blade mere inches away from you. Time seems to slow down as your end draws closer, when suddenly.
BZZT
CRACKLE
When you next open your eyes you're fine, not a scratch on you.
Imposter: What? How? You won't dodge this one.
In an instant you're behind this would be murderer and start wailing on them. Punch after punch, they try to strike you but are met with a cloud of dust, and one final blow lands them on the ground. As you inspect yourself for any unknown injuries you spot a mark on the back of your hand that resembles the electro sigil, but before you could inspect further it's gone, you're shaken from your thoughts by the sound of groaning, looking to it's source you see your assailant trying to crawl away, before you step on their arm.
(Y/N): You're not going anywhere.
As you say this, you put more and more weight on their arm until you're sure it's broken, then moving to do the same with the other.
Paimon: They were so nice during our chat and now they're acting all vicious, Paimon can't help but be a little scared.
(Y/N): Hmm? Oh, don't worry, I only get this way around truly vile scum.
You say as you snap the person's other arm with a grin on your face.
(Y/N): Anyways, what do we do with them? There a bounty to turn in or was this a first time offense?
Aether: They're the ones who've been trying to masquerade as their grace, so obviously we need to turn them in and execute them.
(Y/N): Alright then. (Whispered) ugh, what a way to spend my birthday.
Aether: What was that?
(Y/N): Nothing, anyways, back to the city.
You and the traveler bring the imposter to the city gates and let the guards take things from there. The guards and all the towns people who saw them being transported seemed ecstatic about their apprehension. This was definitely one of your weirder birthdays.
_______________________________________________
Wow this got long, I just didn't know where to end it, and what's crazier is I wanted to add even more. I hope you all enjoyed this chapter, I'll try and focus on character interactions for the next one.

Halloween Special (7/?)
Eight years passed since the encounter of the princess of Liyue and the prince of Inazuma. Since then, their duties took over their lives a sign of their duties. During these years, the location of the débutante was finalized, Y/n was taught her duties and role as the princess of the Liyue empire while preparing for the day of her fifteenth birthday and débutante
Teacher: *clapping in a rhythm* Turn and finish!
Y/n: *follows*
Teacher: Splendid! There is not a single flaw in you, princess! Then again, your mother was a dancer so that helps
Y/n: "Again? Why does she say it like having commoner blood is a bad thing?"
Zhongli: Your fifteenth birthday is coming up along with your débutante. Is there anything you want?
Y/n: ...
Flashback
As Y/n took a stroll around the garden with Xiao, she kept thinking of what she wanted as a gift
Y/n: This is hard.
Xiao: Why not focus on your débutante then, if your having a hard time choosing your birthday gift
Y/n: True, I don't have any male cousins or brothers to be my escort. *looks at Xiao*
Xiao: No
Y/n: I haven't said anything yet!
Xiao: You were going to ask me to be your escort, but I refuse, why not ask your father
Y/n: Will Papa be willing to become my escort?
Xiao: He's not my father, so I wouldn't know. Ask him
Present
Y/n: Papa, can you be my escort and first dance for my débutante?
Zhongli: ...If that's what you want and wish, then alright
Y/n: *smiles* Thank you!
Y/n: Xiao, can you practice dancing with me?
Xiao: *looks away* No
Y/n: Please? I'm worried that I'll make a mistake! Even if you're not as tall as my dad, you're taller than me, and it'll be a huge help
Xiao: *sighs* Fine, let's just get this over with
Y/n: Thanks!
The two practiced for a while with Y/n making a ton of mistakes, which involved Y/n stepping on his foot a lot, which hurt him a lot since Y/n wore heels and as the day got closer and closer, Y/n kept getting more scared and worried and she expressed her feelings twords her father during tea time
Y/n: What if I make a mistake?
Zhongli: *sips some tea* You can make mistakes, it fine
Y/n: What if someone makes fun of me or makes mean or rude comments about me?
Zhongli: Then thats the last thing they'll ever say. They should think about what they say when they're in my country for this ball
Y/n: What? The débutante is being held here in Liyue?
Zhongli: *nods* I thought I told you, guess I was wrong. Is there something wrong with it being held here?
Y/n: No, nothing at all! "Now, this is making me more nervous!!! It's being in MY country!!! It feels like I'm basically representing my whole nation, family, and lineage!!!"
As if the days were like water itself, Y/n turned fifteen, and the day of her débutante came as well
Madame Ping: Wake up, princess! It's an important day
Before Y/n could even have time to process everything, she was taken to have a long bath, a whole skin care routine, have her hair combed into a hairstyle, and have her dress and tiara put on. Once everything was ready, the maids looked extremely proud of their work
Madame Ping: You look beautiful, princess. Like the plum blossom itself
May: I'm sure the princess will be the most beautiful girl there
Emily: Indeed
Y/n: *amazed*
Madame Ping: Princess, you should be heading out now. I'm sure today will be a wonderful moment and memory for you

Kaeya's Hangout - Other routes
For the Winery Routes click here
So, let's talk about the rest of the Hangout and some final thoughts!
First I did the Liyue route. This one is probably my least favorite, but it was fun nonetheless, just a bit long.
I liked Kaeya's story with Captain Wu. I mean, that part when he explained that Diluc almost killed him because he thought he was a pervert was so good lol
And then we got to see some of Kaeya's trickery. I love how he dislikes so much that people notice he wants to help, that he says we're the ones who want to help the guy lol
Also I loved how Kaeya's fake name was Albert Rich. Very sneaky 😂
Overall it was a fun excursion, and we got to see some of Kaeya's influence outside of Mond.
Next, I did the other one in Mond where we help Sister Grace. I love when we can see Kaeya and Venti talking to each other. It's so fun because it's so obvious that Kaeya knows he's Barbatos, like, he's basically saying it indirectly all the time lol
Also I liked the small reference to the first Windblume event. I loved the romantic poem plot that we got, it was so fun. I like when they make those references.
And I loved the part at the end where Kaeya's trying to come up with a very long excuse just because he doesn't want to sing 😂
Oh, how I feel that... I love singing but I'm embarrassed to do it in front of other people.
This one was also just a fun excursion, not much to talk about. Just another time where Kaeya says he's going to relax but ends up helping people, that's just how he is.
The picture is very cute though 🥰
Then we have the final one in Sumeru. This one was also a bit short but it had a very interesting moment.
Kaeya finds an excuse to put his new skin on, and I love that it was made to be a bandit, but it passes as a prince too. Even a lady there was like "Oh my god, is he a true prince??!". Yeah very smart of you Hoyo, I see what you did there!
Before this, Kaeya was pondering on the story of the play. He questions the importance of one's origin. He says that one cannot choose their origins, but their origins will limit their life decisions.
Of course, this is about his own life. His origins as a Khaenri'ahn, and how that's going to be always present in his life.
And then during the play, Kaeya, playing as a prince who has been living outside their homeland, and whose father wants to conquer other lands, decides to improvise.
He wants to challenge his fate. He doesn't want to follow his father. He wants to stay far from home. The play talks about how the prince stayed far from home as if it was a tragedy, but Kaeya phrased it as not being a tragedy, but as something that the prince chooses himself because that's how he wants to act, and that he's at peace with his decision.
It's very obvious how Kaeya was relating this tale to his own. He doesn't want conflict, he wants to live in peace.
Of course, we still don't have enough context of his Clan, what his father wanted and what will happen in the future. But this made us have a perspective on how Kaeya feels. He wants to choose his own destiny.
A brief but interesting path this was.
Overall, this hangout was fantastic. I think it could have been better. I wish there had been a story in Angel's Share because that's another important place in Kaeya's life. I wanted to see Rosaria too, and I wish the Knights had appeared a bit more.
But I was very satisfied with the content we got in the Winery, and the other paths had their own interesting and fun moments as well.
I'm very biased of course, but this was my favorite hangout. I liked Kaveh's too but there were some paths there that I didn't enjoy, here I enjoyed almost everything.
It was worth the wait, and I'm happy that our boy has gotten so much this update. He deserves the world and I can't wait to see him again.
I hope we get some Diluc love soon as well since he has been very absent lately and he didn't have a lot of content here. I wish we could have gotten a pic with the bros 😔 Some day...

"I...I won't...forget this- AETHER...!"
(TW Abuse, Wars, Slight Gore?, Alot of Gaslighting)
(Story pieced together from convos with @creamecream! Corrupt AU was her idea, go give follow <3)
Everything was going perfectly. The coalition of Mondstadt and Liyue refugees were dealing with the last of Barbatos' followers, Ren had Venti stuck in the ground with a strong pillar of ice, and Zhongli was standing over him- ready to deal the final blow.
"Everyone- Fall in! We've got him this time!" Ren exclaimed over the roar of violence and bloodshed- ignoring the throbbing in their skull and the pain that radiated from wounds in their body.
Everything was going perfectly to plan.
But then...it wasn't.
Ren's eyes flickered away for a brief moment- glancing over to a noise they heard that sounded so distinctly familiar...a noise that once was comforting to them, now brought a sense of dread as they tried to retain their focus.
"Soren...~" Out of the portal, stepped the Abyss Prince himself, a cheeky little grin on his face, "Be careful~"
"Wha-?"
As they turned to adress him, an arrow shot right past their face- causing their focus to snap. In the blink of an eye, they fell to the floor as Venti broke free from the icy confines and quickly made his escape- a mischevious little giggle under his breath before seemingly zapping right out of reality itself. Well, not before one of Zhongli's polearms rammed into his arm- which when Venti teleported fell back to the ground with an uncerimonial clatter.
The world fell silent, as everyone stood to process what had just occured. Aether slowly walked to the cryo-vision wielder, a satisfied smirk on his face and motioning for one of his men- the one who had shot the arrow- to stand back down.
"Sorry about that...What's a war without a little bit of chaos, my starlight?" Aether couldnt help but chuckle, watching Ren slowly pull themselves to their feet. Ice was beginning to creep up their limbs- and their eyes looked unfocused as they slowly stumbled towards the abyss prince. They looked exhausted- having used so much of their own life-force just to keep the Archon pinned...and he still ended up getting away.
As Aether went to go give a hug to the smaller cryomancer, what he didn't expect was the whiplash and sting of their hand- which collided with his face in quick succession.
"You...You fucking prick!" Ren was seething, anger burning behind their brown eyes as they grabbed his face with an icy, frozen hand, "Do you know what the fuck you've done?! We had him cornered- we had him pinned! And then you come along and just- Just Mess everything up!"
"First...ow..." Aether rubbed his jaw- with the ice creeping up their hands it felt like he had been punched rather than just slapped silly, "Secondly, of course I do. As much as it would benefit me to see the Archon dead...there's still something I need from him first," Aether explained- in that venomously sweet tone he only took when he was trying to pacify them.
It...didn't work.
Their polearm still in hand, they went to swing it at him when an arm caught theirs midair. They quickly looked back to spot Lumine- who in all her grace had never looked this...uncertain before.
"Don't...its not worth it." Lumine whispered softly, golden eyes peering deep into their own. They growled, unable to think clearly through the anger- the fury- the heartbreak.
"Speak for yourself!" They snapped at her, to which she sighed- nodding to Kaeya who quickly grabbed their other shoulder to keep them still.
"Aww~ You do still care Lumine!" Aether beamed, an innocent smile that almost made Lumine hesitate.
Almost.
"No. I don't," Lumine retorted, meeting Aether's gaze with a glare of her own, "I just know that theyre in no state to start another fight right now." 'But...I assume you already know that.' She couldn't help but think to herself, golden eyes gazing back at eachother. There was silence, for a few good minutes, before Aether let out a bark of laughter that could only be described as slightly unhinged.
"That's your own faults you know! It was your precious general, my darling starlight, who wasn't paying attention!"
"You BASTARD!" Ren went to go break free of Kaeya's grip when a pillar caused them to stop in place. Zhongli, who slowly walked over- looking unsteady himself- kept a steely gaze with the Abyss Prince. His tone was cold, precice, yet Ren could pick out the exhaustion in his voice.
"Speak, Prince. Before I cut you down where you stand," The Archon spoke, wiping away a bit of blood from his nose. Aether couldn't help but cackle even more- drawing his sword and gently...ever so gently, tilting the Archon's gaze to meet his.
"Aww, Morax...you sure do look tired, don't you?" The Prince coo'd, faux sympathy dripping from his words, "Could you even take me right now, if we got in a fight? I sincerely doubt it, given your state...~"
"You-!"
Zhongli raised a hand, causing the furious general to still- if only briefly.
"I may be spent, but if I wanted to, I could still dismantle your entire army in one fell swoop...Do you wish to try my patience, little prince?" Zhongli remained calm, even if his voice trembled with the slightest hint of anger. Aether chuckled, knowing just how much his words were getting to the Archon, a sinister yet almost cheeky smirk on his face.
"Hmmm...No, not right now anyway~... if I did- there'd be no one to stand in Barbatos' way! And that's just no fun, is it?" Aether chuckled, "I only came to try and get something off that brat, but since he left, I have no more business here."
As Aether turned to leave, Ren broke past Kaeya and Zhongli, racing after him with an angry shout.
"AETHER-! YOU'RE NOT GOING ANYWHERE-!" And before they could reach him- the enby ran directly into a second pillar, courtesy of the Geo Archon. Aether snickered, gazing down upon them as their knees gave out and they fell into the grass...which slowly turned to ice where they sat.
"Aww, don't you worry, little Starlight~ I'll be back for you later!" Aether reached down, gently ruffling their hair as they swatted at him, "But first...you might want to get that checked out."
Gesturing to their vision, Ren looked down with wide eyes to find their vision had...cracked. Cryo magic was expelling itself from the crack, making almost everything they touch turn to ice.
"Toodles~!" Aether spoke, an innocently mischevious look on his face as he quickly stepped back through the portal and left- leaving the army alone once more in the clearing.
Ren gave an aggrivated shout, a hand slamming into the dirt and dark starlit tears staining their cheeks.
"That...that bastard..." They spoke, their anger slowly starting to simmer down into something else....grief. Grief, and...well, exhaustion.
"It's not worth the effort right now, Soren..." Zhongli walked up next to them, putting a hand on their shoulder, "You know this."
"To hell with that!" They spat back, "We were so close! He was right there- he was about to die and Aether just-!"
They gave another little frustrated squeak, before coughing and wiping some of the blood that dripped from their nose...and mouth. Hm...Yeah that...might be bad. They hardly even noticed how dizzy they felt until that moment, looking down to their cracked vision as it sparked aggressively- trying to output magic at a rate their body couldnt keep up with.
"I...I won't...forget this- AETHER...!" Their cry echoed through the clearing as their vision sparked even louder- sending an almost jolt of pain through their body that they could hardly take. They fell back against the ice that surrounded their body and creeped outwards, trying to push themselves back to their feet as Lumine gave a horrified little shriek.
"Medics! W-We need medics here, stat!" Lumine quickly rushed over to Zhongli and Ren, the latter of whom took a knee to steady himself against his own exhaustion. Ren's hands slipped, collapsing back into the ice and snow as they felt the world around them begin to slip away...
The last thing that they could recall, was how utterly cold and alone they felt...as the world spun and faded into black.

Ah, Teyvat. Beautiful, innit? Amazing world full of--
Oh shit, nope, wait. Nevermind. Wake up, bitches, time to run, because the Cataclysm (chat noir??) happened.
So we introduce our two heroes, Aether and Lumine. They wanna escape Teyvat, and then Miss Totally Not Kiana The Unknown God, Asmoday (we think that's her name) shows up, forbidding the Travelers from escaping.
Fun Fact: That Unknown God? That's our corrupted God Program right there, taking the form of the most powerful entity in the world at present to exert control. So far, nothing's gone wrong. Haha. Haha.
Hah.
Anyway, Aether and Lumine decide to fight her, flying towards her, and then just as they dive up and are about to strike, the Unknown God freezes Lumine first.
Panicking, Aether calls out to Lumine before diving at the Unknown God. Yup. Aether is the prota--
Nope. Wait. Hold on. Wh... What's happening with Lumine's prison?
Suddenly, something LITERALLY NO ONE SEES COMING, Lumine breaks out, and through some unknown ability, is able to teleport RIGHT BEHIND THE UNKNOWN GOD, THIS CLOSE to getting a headshot.
Panicked, the Unknown God instead freezes Aether. Lumine calls out his name, then goes to strike again, only to be frozen second, crying out for the Unknown God to give Aether back.
Lumine, in the World System's eyes, has now been fully registered as the Traveler. While Aether, registered as the Abyss Prince.
So, fun fact: according to the "original world seed", that wasn't supposed to happen. Aether was supposed to be the protagonist, not Lumine. Like... something was wrong.
And the God Program? Was pissed.
She kept demanding that the World System reset. Again and again, but the World System refused. The only way the World System would reset was if the God Program reset with it.
God Program: Everything went wrong... you were supposed to be the Abyss Monarch, not your brother...! God Program: No matter... I can simply restart-- World System: Failed to execute deletion due to preexisting condition. God Program: ...Condition? What condition?! The condition claimed that her brother remain the protagonist. If she fails that condition-- World System: Teyvat ver. 5410010 World Console Rule No. 1 - The twin who is first reduced to nothing via the Unknown God is embedded with the Abyssal Monarch spirit data, whereas the leftover twin is embedded with the Traveler Twin spirit data. God Program: But resetting is the only way to get the story to work-- World System: Teyvat ver. 5410010 World Console Rule No. 1 Clause 1 - Once the Traveler and Abyssal Twins have been decided, this decision is permanent and no resetting is allowed. The only options include: deletion of the world console and the Overseer, continue with the storyline. God Program: ...That little bitch... God Program: Show me her data. Now.
The World System pulls up Lumine's data, and something of note is... different about her.
Avatar Name: Female Traveler Nickname: Lumine Model Type: Girl Weapon Type: Sword Element: Changeable Special Condition: Carrier of the Charitas Gene
For simplicity's sake, I'm not gonna explain what the Charitas Gene is. But the God Program is definitely not happy about it, far as I can tell.
(eyo ma'am we get it, youre miguel o'hara but a bitch goddamn--)
And so, Lumine falls asleep for 500 years. And now, we reach Mondstadt's beach, where she talks to Paimon and recaps her on everything that happened.
Paimon is also a literal fish out of water (get it? Because. Because she was fished out? ...okay, I'll see myself out--)
The two became close friends over the past two months and Paimon decides that their first stop should be Mondstadt! Which is. Literally right there. (like c'mon guys, it took you this long to figure it out?)
Also because I like showcasing character moments, please enjoy the two's banter. Please. They're actual sisters.
Lumine: You know... I never really understood how you could've nearly drowned. Paimon: What do you mean by that? Lumine: Oh, nothing... Lumine: I mean, you could've just flown out of the water. Paimon: Hey! J-Just so you know, there's LOTS of other animals that can fly, but they ended up drowning too! Lumine: That's because their wings got damaged and they couldn't fly out the water. And, as far as I'm aware, Paimon? You don't have wings. Paimon: (unconvincingly) W-well... u-uh... it was... Paimon's legs! Yeah, her legs! They were super sore! Lumine: (chuckling) Mhm. Sure, they were.
The two head over to the first Statue of the Seven they find, and Paimon catches Lumine up on some of the "lore" of the world--about the Archons, about the elements, the statues. And then, immediately, Paimon just. Tells Lumine to touch the statue.
Paimon: Hey, maybe you should try touching it! Lumine: Uh, what-- Paimon: You heard Paimon! Touch the statue and pray to it! Lumine: Those are two entirely different things--
And so, Lumine resonates with Anemo...
...and accidentally windblades herself backwards onto the ground.
Paimon reveals that Lumine was likely blessed with Barbatos' blessing, the Anemo Archon, and that Mondstadt City would gladly welcome her in (to Lumine's confusion, because that's like calling the capital of England "England City", but whatever--)
Before they can decide to move there, gigantic-ass dragon flies over. The two go to check it out and see a green bard (we know it's Venti, this is very much obvious by now) talking to a dragon.
As the two peek in, Paimon accidentally floats too close, losing balance and bumping into Lumine, who creates a large blast of Anemo energy, startling the dragon.
The dragon flies off and Venti disappears. When they go to search for it, they find a red teardrop and have. No clue what to do with it. Lumine holds it in her hand.
Lumine: Huh... never seen anything like this before. Paimon: Paimon hasn't either! She can't tell what it is, but looks like we'll just have to take it with us! Lumine: You're saying we have to hold this the entire way? It's not like I have a bag or anything... Paimon: U-uh, m-maybe we...
The crystal randomly dissipates while the two ponder and Lumine and Paimon scream.
Lumine: T-THE CRYSTAL?! Paimon: WHERE'D IT GO?! WHERE'D IT GO?! Lumine: DON'T ASK ME! I WAS JUST HOLDING IT AND THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN--
The crystal reappears in Lumine's held out hands. Paimon and Lumine scream again, Lumine falling backwards as it hovers.
Lumine: It just... a-appeared again. Paimon: M-maybe... perhaps... Paimon: Oh! Maybe you have a psychic storage space that you learned about from another world!
Half-right. It's the World System working in the "game inventory" mechanic.
Lumine: Yeah, no, I don't think that's it.
It's kinda that.
Anyway, Lumine tests it again, concentrating carefully, only for it to dissipate into thin air. She stares at her palms and--yeah, no, it's definitely gone now.
Paimon: And now it's gone again! Lumine: Seems like along with my Anemo prowess, I can summon items and store them at well... Paimon: So it IS a psychic storage space... Lumine: I'd like to think of it as a virtual inventory. Paimon: Haaah, well, if that's really what you think, then Paimon won't correct you...
Virtual Inventory now introduced as an actual living breathing mechanic that Lumine can utilize as hammer space, they trek to the Whispering Woods, where they meet Amber, who is all like "hey you kinda sus"
Paimon and Lumine give Amber some sas, hilarity ensuing
Amber: You don't look like citizens of Mondstadt. Explain yourselves! Paimon: WE'RE NOT DOING ANYTHING ILLEGAL! Lumine: (internally) Only criminals say that kind of thing...?! Lumine: Sorry, ignore her. She's not good under pressure. I'm Lumine, and that's Paimon. We're really not looking for any trouble. Amber: Hmm... Lumine and Paimon, huh? Doesn't sound like any local names to me. Lumine: (internally) Not wrong... Amber: Well, other than your odd clothing style, you're clear, Lumine. Lumine and Paimon: (internally) Like your clothing is anymore conventional?!
No more time for chit chat, girls, because we got an issue with Hilichurs! Lumine feels like she can hear some sort of "Amber has joined your party" ringing in the back of her head, but she shakes it off as something she thought of herself.
So they find a Hilichurl Camp, and here is where we immediately start deviating.
Paimon: Whoa…! An entire Hilichurl Camp! Lumine: A Hili-what? Amber: Those. Hilichurls.
Amber points to the Hilichurls eating and dancing around a fire. Some are sharpening their axes, others stringing their bows.
Lumine: ...they look... kinda cute. Amber: Yeah, they seem cute, but they can get aggressive to people like you and me. They're too close to the city, so my task this time is to clear out their camp. Lumine: Wait, why can't we just say 'hi' and ask them politely to leave? Amber: B-Because they don't speak our language--wait, Traveler? Where are you going?!
Lumine then decides it's a smart idea to walk up to one of the hilichurls who's happily eating a Sunsettia. She kneels down and tries to talk to them.
Lumine: Um... Hi there, little fella. Hilichurl: ...? Ya!
The Hilichurl stands up, grabbing the club next to him and ready to hit Lumine. He drops his Sunsettia on the ground, but Lumine holds out her arm as if trying to show she means no harm.
Lumine: H-hey, no... uh... no fight! Paimon: Lumine, they won't listen! Hilichurls aren't-- Lumine: Shh, I think I'm making progress...!
Though she struggles, she tries to reason with the Hilichurl and hands it the Sunsettia, hoping to reason.
Lumine: Here… go on, take it.
The Hilichurl looks at her hand, then to the others in his group. They too seem puzzled, but do nothing. Finally, the Hilichurl takes the Sunsettia into his palms and stares at Lumine, before dancing a bit.
Paimon: …h-he… he seems happy…! Hilichurl: Valo valo! Ya mi tomo!
A flash of recognition appears in Lumine's eyes, as if she understands what the Hilichurl is saying. This shouldn't be normal, but she knows anyway. So, she continues conversing.
Lumine: You're welcome. Hey, do you think you can move the camp a little farther into the forest? Hilichurl: Dala? Lumine: Mm… mostly because the other people might be too scared of you, so they'll try and attack. Hilichurl: Mm…
The Hilichurl turns to his friends and starts speaking, Lumine understanding that he's requesting to move the camp farther from the city. After a bit, he returns to conversing with Lumine. Paimon and Amber look from afar in bewilderment.
Amber (shouting): What did he say? Lumine (shouting): He said that they were told to be stationed here by someone, but since I asked nicely, they'll move!
The Hilichurls seem happy that they were able to communicate, and suddenly, the one friendly Hilichurl runs over to the inside of the main hut, motioning Lumine to come over.
Lumine follows, and in front of the Friendly Hilichurl is a small, common chest. Lumine, in shock, looks at him as if affirming what the Hilichurl is offering. He nods in response, and Lumine opens it. Inside, however, is something uncommon…
Inside of the chest is a sword and a bow. The sword is glowing brightly with an aqua-green hue, while the bow seems to have the same sigil that Amber wears on her outrider outfit.
The Hilichurls wave goodbye to the trio as Lumine hands the bow over to Amber, keeping the sword in her grasp. Paimon and Amber are both astonished, as the Hilichurls fulfill their promise and start to move out further into the forest.
Amber: …How… did you do that? Paimon: Paimon's never seen someone interact with Hilichurls like that before… Lumine: Wait, really? No one's asked nicely? Amber: I mean, we've tried, but they couldn't understand us. It usually led to them getting upset and lashing out at us, so whenever they see a person, they strike first on reflex. Lumine: Well… that one Hilichurl said he'd try putting in a good word for me with the other tribes. So, maybe the issue's solved? Paimon: You understood Hilichurlian! That's amazing! Lumine: Just a bit. I'm more surprised he understood me. He seems like a sweet guy--seems like he's the youngest of the group. Amber: All that information from a single exchange with a Hilichurl… Ella Musk would be impressed…
Aside from me restraining myself from wishing Ella Musk's name was changed, the group then realizes that Amber gained a Favonius Warbow. And, for some reason... Luine has the Aquila Favonia?
No one really knows why, but anyway, the group heads back to Mondstadt. Amber catches 'em up: Stormterror is a big dragon that brings gigantic storms whenever he's near, and so Mondstadt's in a tight spot. The Knights of Favonius also have to deal with Hilichurls moving closer and closer into the city, but Lumine realizes something.
Lumine (internally): It doesn't add up... the Hilichurl I talked to said they were told to be stationed there, like they were told by a tactician. Not to mention the person in green who talked to the dragon… something's not right.
Detective Lumine, who decided to turn into Rosa from Tears of Themis for a good bit, then goes with Paimon and Amber to Mondstadt.
They take a tour around the city, which is pretty empty, and learn about what Mondstadt is like. Lumine makes mental note to never indulge in any of the taverns because she apparently might get too caught up in taste-testing wine to the point where she'll become flat-out drunk. Sasuga Traveler.
And then, Lumine is given a Wind Glider by Amber. She glides around, and suddenly, when she lands, the wind glider dissipates. Amber explains this to Lumine. More mechanics.
Amber: Wow, you did pretty well! And it seems like the Wind Glider recognized you as it's owner. Paimon: "Recognized"? What's that mean? Amber: : Some of the items in this world have a will imbedded in them, like my new bow! Amber summons the bow in her hands, which seems to come out of nowhere. This surprises Paimon and Lumine. Amber: See, if an item recognizes you as it's owner and synchronizes with you, you can summon it at will! Practically appears and disappears when you ask it to. Cool trick, right? Paimon: So that's what it is! Amber: Though it's a bit strange. Usually, only Vision holders can achieve this, but… as far as I can see, you don't have a Vision, Traveler. Lumine: …a Vision? Amber: Yeah. A Vision! You see, a Vision is--!
Woops, sorry walking exposition, but we got a dragon to deal with! A tornado begins to form--multiple tornadoes in fact, and as Amber and Paimon run away, Lumine gets Dorothy'd up into the air. Paimon and Amber try to hold her down, but nope.
But, with Venti's help, Lumine remains stable. She's instructed by Venti to "deal with Dvalin".
Venti: You're doing great! Keep it up! Lumine: It'd be nice if you could've introduced yourself before you put me in this situation! Venti: You really want an introduction at a time like this?! Mondstadt needs your help! Lumine: Okay, but when this is all over, I EXPECT answers!
On the ground, Paimon is watching worriedly for Lumine and is this close to flying in, but Amber is busy evacuating citizens.
Amber: Paimon, there's some citizens trying to seek shelter! We have to help! Paimon: B-but…! But what about--? Amber (serious): I know you're worried about your partner, but she looks like she can fend off Mondstadt against the dragon. Right now, these innocent people can't. I need your help.
Paimon seems unsure, looking back up at the sky for Lumine. Amber again asks, but this time, it comes out more as a plea.
Amber: Please…
Paimon then looks at Amber, nodding. Amber runs off, trying to help out innocents. Paimon hesitates, looking up at the sky one last time.
Paimon: …please be okay, Lumine…!
She then flies off in Amber's direction, assisting as best as she can.
Meanwhile, there's this guy... a guy with an eyepatch awtching from afar. He's doing that "cool guy" pose, leaning against the support beam of a building. Congratulations--we've met Kaeya.
Kaeya: So, an Outlander has come to save us from the big, scary dragon. How amusing…
Lisa, who is actually doing work for once, scolds Kaeya as she escorts a woman and her child to safety
Lisa: Kaeya! A little bit of help would be appreciated. Kaeya: Right. Sorry. Got distracted by the light show. Lisa: Kaeya, not now! Kaeya: Alright, alright. I'm coming. No need to worry so much, Lisa.
While he's busy, though, he still is thinking heavily about that person in the sky... wondering about something. But, oh well, whatever.
After some time passes, Lumine successfully shoos Dvalin away and lands on the ground, where Paimon tearfully hugs Lumine tightly, glad she's okay.
Anyway, then Kaeya comes up
Kaeya (clapping): Well, well, well. You've actually got the power to go up against the dragon... Lumine: ? Kaeya: Are you perhaps a new ally... Kaeya: Or a new storm? Lumine and Paimon (staring): ... Paimon (whispering): Is he really a Knight? Lumine (whispering): No, I think he's a pirate. Kaeya (surprised): Huh. That's. Not the reaction I was expecting.
Anyway, we're introduced to Kaeya and the group heads to the Knights of Favonius, where they meet Jean and Lisa and basically go over how fucked the shit is.
Jean: So that's the situation. Stormterror's power sources must be cut off, and we need your help. I promise, we will help you seek out your brother. Lisa: Mhm. That's right, cuties! Lumine: ... Lumine: Okay so... stop THAT. Lisa: Hm? Lumine: And also, how... many Temples are we dealing with? Kaeya: Three of the Four Temples. Lumine: ... Lumine: I'm sorry, what happened to the fourth? Paimon: is it the rule of threes? Lumine: This sounds like the rule of threes. Amber: What are you guys even saying? Kaeya (snickering): Pffft... finally, my kind of crowd. Amber: No. Stop Do not.
So with that out of the way, Lisa and Kaeya join the party and embark on the quest to the Three Temples--I mean, Three of the Four Temples.
No, Paimon, Lumine, and Kaeya will NOT stop joking about it.
Lumine: But if the fourth temple is off-limits, shouldn't you just call it the three temples? Lisa: Well, you see, it's because-- Paimon: Yeah! If you keep saying it's dangerous but it still exists, then people who would want to visit the Temples would try to find the fourth anyway! Because completionism! Kaeya: Ah, see, I brought up that same point as well, but the Acting Grandmaster said otherwise. Amber: Listen, we're visiting THREE TEMPLES. Okay? Just three! No more! Paimon: No four. Lumine: What a bore. Kaeya: Such a chore. Amber: And no rhyming games! Kaeya: What a... Paimon, Lumine, and Kaeya: Shame? Lisa (sighs): A long errand this will be, won't it, Amber? Amber: You're telling me...
I'm not going to go over the stupid Temples, okay? Like. Literally no one remembers them. I'm skipping them. Shush. This is my fic, I do what I want.
Most you'll get is tidbits of what happens in each one.
First up we have the Temple of the Falcon, where we see Amber in action. And, um...
Amber: Oh no, Hilichurls! Lisa: Quickly, we must defeat them! Kaeya: Right. Amber: Oh, there's explosive barrels over there! Maybe if I throw Baron Bunny over-- Lumine: Oh, hey! Is that you, little guy? Friendly Hilichurl (from before): Tomo! Kaeya, Lisa, and Amber: ... All three: What? Lumine: Sorry for intruding. Were you guys stationed here too? Friendly Hilichurl: Dada. Dala si? Lumine: Oh, some friends of mine. Hey, listen, do you know where some sort of... draconic power is? Friendly Hilichurl: Da! Zido, zido! Paimon: Wow, Lumine, your Hilichurlian is really helpful! Lumine: I know, right? Kinda glad about that. Kaeya: ... Kaeya: S... she speaks... Amber: Yup. Lisa: And she negotiated with... Amber: Mhm. Kaeya: ... Kaeya: That's... a new one...
--yeah, so I lied. Remember how Lumine communicated with the Hilichurls earlier? Yeah, it makes things significantly easier for them.
They take out a Dragon's Breath, move onto the next Temple. Here, Lumine learns about Visions... and the group also tries to avoid every single sexual innuendo Lisa makes.
Lisa: So as you can see, when enemies are Wet, I can easily handle them via chain lightning, as they become electro-charged. Lumine: ... Paimon: ... Lia: The electrical discharge caused by friction is only a little less shocking than love at first sight. Lumine, covering Paimon's ears: Paimon, you're too young to hear this. Paimon, covering her eyes: Paimon is too Paimon to see this. Kaeya: Lisa, maybe cut down on the adult erotica you read? Amber: KAEYA! Kaeya, covering Lumine's ears: What? Just sayin'. Not in front of the children. Lumine: I AM 5'2", THAT IS LIKE AVERAGE HEIGHT FOR A FEMALE ADULT! Kaeya: Sure, kiddo. Lumine, squirming: HANDS OFF, HANDS OFF--!
Lisa also gets a new weapon here, but that's neither really here or there. I'm not gonna mention much about weapons, guys, unless the character is like super important.
Anyway, two out of the four three temples left! Kaeya's turn! And. Um. Well.
Kaeya: Luckily, the Hilichurls weren't so much as a problem this time... Kaeya, turning to Lumine, swinging around his new sword he just got cuz he wants to look like a badass: So. You said they were stationed here? Lumine: Yup. That's what they told me. They typically want to be as far out from humans or human-traveled locations as much as possible so they can live peacefully, but they only ever approach if stationed there. Kaeya: Interesting... Then perhaps. Kaeya, to the Hydro Abyss Mage behind him: YOU were behind this! Hydro Abyss Mage: Gohus, Chiso Vo--
And then a gigantic ass flaming claymore bursts in, hitting the Hydro Abyss Mage.
Hydro Abyss Mage: GAH-- Kaeya: ..well, well, look who it is. Diluc: Knights of Favonius. Always so inefficient. Kaeya: Agree to disagree. But, since you got involved, this should be more interesti-- Amber: KAEYA, DILUC, I GET THAT YOU'RE BICKERING, BUT THE THING ISN'T GONE! Kaeya and Diluc: ?! Lisa, busy electrocuting it: Master Diluc, may we remind you the basics of elemental resonation and why fire doesn't work effectively on water? Diluc: ... Kaeya: ...
Kaeya proceeds to freeze the Hydro Abyss Mage.
Diluc: ... Kaeya: So. 'Inefficient', you said? Diluc: ...tch.
Diluc leaves, while Lumine and Paimon just stare.
Lumine: ...was he... trying to be cool? Paimon: That was... the worst first imperssion ever. Kaeya: Pfft. Yup. Knew I liked you two.
So anyhow and anyway, the group returns to Mondstadt and updates Jean on everything, with Lumine and Paimon learning the Fourth Temple was actually Dvalin's. Insert an "ooooooh" here.
Well, actually, before they update Jean, they see her arguing with Fatui diplomats on things.
Jean: That was the Fatui... from Snezhnaya. Lumine: Actually, it's pronounced "Fah-twee". Jean: ...what? Lumine: You're pronouncing it like pah-tooey, like when someone expectorates. Lumine: Anyway, continue. Jean: Oh... kay...? Paimon: Wait, so the Fatui wanted to kill Stormterror? Kaeya: To be fair, the Cryo Archon and the Fatui have always coveted the other Archons' powers... Lumine: Okay, but why? Kaeya: Beats me. Paimon: Aren't you a Knight? Shouldn't you know more about politics? Kaeya: Aren't you the "number one traveling companion"? Shouldn't YOU know more about Teyvat in general? Paimon: D'oh...
Lisa and Jean then take a look at the red crystal, amused by it. They claim that it's impure, and surprising that Lumine isn't affected by it. Then, she is honored with the title.
Jean: Now then, Traveler... The Knights of Favonius have another favor to ask of you. Lumine: You can just call me Lumine... no need to call me Trave-- Jean: Please accept the title of Honorary Knight... and the gratitude of the Acting Grand Master! Lumine: Aaaaand a new title. Awesome. Paimon: Wow, look at that, Lumine! The Honorary Knight of Favonius! Kaeya: And now you're subject to being called Honorary Knight to the end of your days. Lumine: Haha, very funny.
The group disperses, going their seperate ways, only for Lumine and Paimon to ask for lodging! W-well, except, um...
Paimon: Paimon can't BELIEVE it! The Fatui took ALL THE ROOM IN THE GOETHE HOTEL?! Lumine: And to think it's the only hotel in Mondstadt... for the supposed capital of the place, you'd think there'd be more. Paimon: Urgh... those Fatui! And Paimon could've ordered food service. Lumine: Ah, so YOUR main complaint was food service. Paimon: W-well, who are we supposed to call here? Captain Eyepatch?! Lumine: Or Noelle. Apparently she's like the maid here? Paimon: Yeah, but... Paimon would feel bad asking her for room service... Lumine: (laughs) Paimon: So, Amber said that our room was... this one, right?
Lumine and Paimon arrive at their temporary lodging--the Knights of Favonius HQ. Well, specifically, the area where the Knights who live in the HQ stay. Thankfully, there were open spaces due to a large majority of the soldiers being gone with the actual Grandmaster of the Knights.
When Paimon and Lumine open the room, they find it's... pretty quaint. They get a decent view, a comfy bed. Though, there is a LOT of Favonius paraphernalia--from the books, to the carpet. Even the curtains and...
Lumine: Huh. Didn't know that had Favonius-branded napkins. Paimon: And lamps. Lumine: ...interesting...
Lumine and Paimon take the chance to settle down, sitting back and getting comfy.
Paimon: Lumine, you sure are getting comfortable with the Teyvatan language, though! Those two months of practicing were worth it, weren't they? Lumine: I also had to relearn how to walk again... you know, they never talk about how over five hundred years of sleeping can seriously affect your ability to move. Paimon: Mhm! But it was all worth it in the end!
As Lumine and Paimon lie down on their bed, Lumine looks up at the ceiling. It's getting dark out... they've been busy all day. Talk about an action-packed first day properly interacting with Teyvatan locals.
Lumine: ...it's only been a day, huh? Paimon: ... Paimon: Lumine? Lumine: Hm? Paimon: Are you... sad?
Paimon turns around, looking up at Lumine. She's worried.
Paimon: Do you think the Anemo Archon is the one that took your brother? Lumine: ...no. Far from it. If the statue is anything like the god that took him from me? Definitely not her. Paimon: Do you think he'd at least know her? Lumine: Well... I guess we could ask. Paimon: ...Paimon's sorry. Lumine: Hm? For what?
Paimon grows quiet, then whimpers.
Paimon: ...if Paimon could remember, Paimon would tell you, but...
When Lumine found Paimon, Paimon commented that there were things she did and didn't remember.
Lumine: Well, you seemed to remember some things as we made our way here, right? Paimon: Right, but... it only happened when Paimon saw them. It was like Paimon couldn't remember until she had to remember. Lumine: ...then, when the time comes, you'll remember. I know it. Paimon: ...mn. Paimon hopes so.
Paimon lets out a big yawn, and Lumine smiles gently. For the past two months, it's just been her and Paimon against the world. They've practically become inseperable. Attached to the hip.
Lumine: Tired? Paimon: Mn... Lumine: Go to sleep then, Paimon. It's been a long day.
Lumine stands up, gently tucking Paimon into bed. However, Paimon calls out to Lumine.
Paimon: Lumine, what about you? Aren't you sleepy? Lumine: I'll head to bed in a bit. Just want to do some reading practice before anything.
Lumine stands up, grabbing some books from the shelves. With a stack of them in her arms, she makes her way to the bed, flipping through each of them vigorously.
Clues about her brother's whereabouts. Myths about that Unknown God. An unknown location. She'd accept anything at this point.
Book after book, page after page... the light in the room stayed on throughout the night. It was as if hours passed. And yet, nothing.
No mentions of a blond-haired Traveler in search of his sister. No Unknown Gods with flowing white hair that claimed to be the Sustainer of Heavenly Principles. It was all simply tales of Mondstadt, or fairy tales about some oddities.
Lumine's eyes began to droop... she was getting sleepier by the moment. Until finally, the weary girl dozed off.
The first night without her brother. How sad... how unfortunate.
As Lumine dozes off to sleep, she hears a voice resounding... and suddenly, her surroundings change, and she begins to dream.
Once upon a time, there was a one-eyed peacock...
"He came from a long line of creatures that lived in a forest made by their own kind. They despised the gods that lived up above them in the sky, and wished to rule themselves. For they were the superior. That was their belief."
"But the gods were angered by these creatures. How dare they overstep such boundaries set in place? How dare these creatures be greedy and take life into their own hands? In anger, the gods set the creature-made forest ablaze."
"It was Hell on earth. Many cried, many screamed. Beings of shadow emerged from the depths, consuming everyone in it's wake... it was a disaster. No... it was a Cataclysm."
"Despite it being 500 years ago, the one-eyed peacock shared his ancestor's legacy. For his bloodline had been cursed by the gods. What that curse was, he would never say. But all he knew was this: his father had sent him to hide in a beautiful kingdom of dandelions, in hopes that one day, it would perish."
"The peacock, in truth, held a dark secret. His beautiful feathers were nothing but shards of ice. In truth, his true body was afflicted, tainted by his ancestors. And he had to bear that curse for as long as he lived."
"The peacock made his way into the hearts of the Dandelion Kingdom, and soon, he was taken in by an owl and his owlet. The young peacock and owlet grew close, standing side by side, learning and growing together."
"For once, the peacock wondered, 'Is this okay?'. He asked himself, 'could I live like this? Could I spend my days in this Kingdom of Dandelions?' He was comfortable, he was happy... perhaps, he thought, this could be his new home. Perhaps his curse didn't need to be his truth."
"...but the Gods forbade it."
"These Gods weren't the same ones who cursed the peacock's bloodline, not the ones who lived in the clouds. No, they were the ones who determined everyone's fate. The Gods, in their anger, were unsatisfied with the peacock's conclusion."
"You are cursed forevermore. It is your destiny."
"To prove their point, the Gods sent down a 'curse' that tore apart the owl that took the peacock in. Ripping him apart, limb from limb, pucking his feathers until nothing was left, but a mere husk. By the time that the peacock and owlet arrived, it was too late... the owl was no longer himself."
"The owlet watched in horror, his father growing mad and losing himself. No matter what the owlet did, he could only do one last thing:"
"The peacock watched as the owlet cried, curling up against his father's corpse, his beak and talons stained with blood. It had to be him that ended his father's life."
"This was the Gods answer... the peacock understood. There was no father here, no family here. The only thing left was his curse."
"For the first time, the peacock shed his icy feathers, revealing to the blood-stained owlet the truth. In tears, the owlet grew furious--how could the peacock have lied to him? The peacock, this entire time... was he glad that his father died?"
"The owlet clawed at the peacock, and in return, the peacock fought back. It was no longer a friendly duel between brothers. It was a falling out. They fought, and fought, and fought. But what the owlet didn't see were the peacock's tears."
"Ever since that day, the peacock understood. He must never shed his feathers, for he must keep the truth hidden within. The Gods have willed it so. It is, after all, his destiny, to lie."
"He cannot live a happy life in the Dandelion Kingdom. He cannot trust anyone, not even himself."
"And so, the peacock accepted his destiny, doing as the Gods instructed, until his body froze him to the bone, and he took his final breath, cold. Alone. Just as he had been since the beginning."
Lumine immediately bolted up out of bed, her head pounding, ears ringing. What was that dream...? No, really, what WAS that dream?
She looked at Paimon, who was sleeping soundly next to her. A dream about a peacock, an owlet, a dead owl... it was all so vivid, so terrifying, so...
...sad.
Lumine sat up in bed, taking in everything. What sort of dream was that? It was bizarre.
As she felt around for the lamp, her hand rested on a small book. A book she most likely was about to read before falling asleep.
The girl looked outside. Still dark out. Not only that, but her head still ached from such an odd dream--or would it be more appropriate to call it a nightmare?
Either way, she resolved to read the book and find a glass of water. Perhaps that would make it easier on her.
Lumine carefully crept out of the room, ensuring Paimon was fast asleep, before wandering the HQ. It was eerily dead silent in the middle of the night.
She looked around for the kitchen, trying not to make a sound, until at last she found the tap. Setting her book aside and grabbing a glass, she poured herself a drink--
???: "Teyvatan History 101", eh? Lumine: AH!
Nearly spilling her water, Lumine panicked, turning around. Standing there, carrying a lamp, was none other than Kaeya Alberich, dressed down into something she could only assume was his nightwear.
Kaeya: Snooping around in the middle of the night, little miss? Lumine: You scared the heck out of me...! Jeez...! Kaeya: Haha, sorry. Couldn't help myself.
As Kaeya laughed, Lumine held her hand up to her forehead before drinking her glass. Her brows were furrowed, and she seemed to be shaking a bit. At that, Kaeya decided to inquire.
Kaeya: ...hey. Couldn't sleep?
Lumine turned, then looked up at Kaeya.
Kaeya: What? Friend can't ask a friend how she's doing? Lumine: ...we're friends? Kaeya: I'm hurt, Miss Honorary Knight... are you suggesting we aren't?
Lumine laughs at that, before leaning against the counter, sipping her water. Kaeya joins her, leaning against the counter as well. The two are side by side in the quiet of the night.
Lumine: I, uh... yeah. Had a nightmare. Kaeya: Oh? Do tell. Lumine: I just... don't know how to make heads or tails of it? Kaeya: Surprise me. Not only am I devilishly good-looking, but I'm also an expert at interpreting dreams. Lumine: Pfft, that's a lie. Kaeya: You won't know until you try.
The two laugh a bit, until the mood seems to shift in a more... somber way.
Lumine: I, um... I guess I should start by saying I typically don't have nightmares. Kaeya: No? Lumine: Yeah... Aether and I always made sure that we were both at least in the same vicinity when we fell asleep so, I... guess he was like my nightmare repellent. It's... been happening for the past few months. Kaeya: ... Kaeya: I see.
There's a silence in the air, only for Kaeya to try and continue the conversation.
Kaeya: So. You and your brother were close? Lumine: Yeah. Well, are... Lumine: ...hopefully that's the right tense. Kaeya: Hey. I'm sure he's out there. Just gotta look for him is all. I'm sure he's trying to find you too, right? Lumine, quietly: Yeah. I... I hope so too.
Lumine looks into the water in her glass, before she begins to talk about her dream.
Lumine: ...the dream I had this time though was different from most of the other nightmares I've had. Kaeya: Hm? Like what? Lumine: In the past, it was... always about Aether leaving me. Leaving me behind, not letting me follow him, and in the end, I'd end up all alone in a vast, empty void. Lumine: But this one was... about a one-eyed peacock.
When that was mentioned, Kaeya's eye widened.
Kaeya: ...one-eyed... peacock? Lumine: Mhm. Again, a really weird dream, but-- Kaeya: What happened to it? Lumine: Huh? Kaeya: ...t... the peacock, I mean. Did... something happen?
Kaeya hastily tried to correct himself. Lumine couldn't tell if it was the dim lighting or not, but his eye seemed to dart around, refusing to make eye contact with her. Despite this, she continued.
Lumine: Yeah, um... so, the peacock was cursed by the Gods. Something about his bloodline being cursed by defying the creatures that lived in the clouds? It's really confusing. Kaeya: And then? Lumine: Well...
Lumine recounted the story, trying to piece together what she could recall.
Lumine: ...he was accepted into the Dandelion Kingdom. Well, more like sent to infiltrate it by his father to see it's downfall or... something. And he was adopted by an owl and his son. Kaeya: ...
Kaeya grew unexpectedly quiet at this. It was almost uncharacteristic for him.
Lumine: ...Kaeya? Kaeya: Continue.
When he realized how off he sounded, he corrected himself.
Kaeya: Sorry, sorry. I, um... tired. Lumine: O-okay... Lumine: ...well, as time passed, the peacock came to love it in the Dandelion Kingdom, but he questioned if it was alright to stay there or if he had to do what he was "destined" to do. Then, when he hesitated, the Gods got angry. The owl that took care of the peacock went made and his owlet had to be the one to kill him. And the peacock... just watched. Like he was being told "you have to do what you were destined to do now, there is no second option".
Kaeya's hands were shaking, though Lumine couldn't notice it. As if he was reliving a bad memory. A bad dream.
Lumine: ...the peacock decided to try and tell the owlet. I guess he felt bad and at least wanted to put all cards on the table. Shed his feathers, showed the truth and... they fought. And the peacock just... lied for the rest of his life, not questioning his destiny. Kaeya: ...what... happened at the end of the dream? Was... that all?
Lumine grew quiet, before whispering. Ah, so this is why he reacted this way...
Lumine: ...the peacock froze to death.
Kaeya's face darkened. It was like he was hoping for a happier ending deep down, but he knew that it wouldn't end that way.
A few seconds pass, before Lumine draws a conclusion.
Lumine: I don't... want to make assumptions but, I'm guessing from your reaction that... Kaeya: ...that the peacock was me as a kid?
Lumine looked up at Kaeya, who avoided her eyes.
Kaeya: Yeah. From a kid to my teens. Lumine: Then... that owlet was-- Kaeya: The owl was a man named Crepus Ragvindr. And the owlet? His son... Diluc Ragvindr. Lumine: The one who appeared at the Temple of the Wolf? Kaeya: That's right. He and I were close once. But, like you said. I wavered. Instead of being next to him when he had to kill his dad, end Crepus' misery, I just. Watched. Accepted that this was my fate as a descendant of Khaenri'ah.
At that, Lumine became curious.
Lumine: ...Khaenri'ah? Kaeya: An ancient nation made by humans. All Teyvatan nations have been established and run by the Archons, except for Khaenri'ah. Celestia, the big guys up above, hated that. They... wiped out everything. Lumine: I... I-I'm sorry, I-- Kaeya: Don't be. It was centuries ago. Nothing to do with me. Kaeya: Or... well, you know.
Yet another silence between them, only for Kaeya to suddenly chuckle sadly.
Kaeya: Haaah, why... why am I telling you this? Makes no sense. Lumine: Hm? Kaeya: I mean... think about it. We just met today, and suddenly, I'm telling you a secret that I only told one other person, and said person now hates me. I... I must've gone mad.
Kaeya ran his fingers through his hair, continuing to smile sadly.
Kaeya: Ah... that's fine. Just one more person to despise m-- Lumine: I don't despise you.
Kaeya froze in his place. Did... his ears decieve him?
He turned to Lumine, in shock.
Kaeya: What... did you just... Lumine: Why would I hate you for the sins of your father?
The man continued to stare at Lumine, who seemed completely serious. She said it so... matter-of-factly. Was something wrong in her head?
Surely. Surely something was wrong with her. After all, he's a sleeper agent, meant to wait there and watch as Mondstandt burned. So why? Why was she...?
Lumine: If anything, I hate the Gods. Kaeya: ...the... the Gods? Lumine: Mhm. The ones that said that you have to follow your destiny. It's obvious you love Mondstandt, right?
"Obvious"? Please, what does this girl know? Only a day and she's making assumptions on his character.
How could he love Mondstadt when he was to be there someday and watch it all crumble? It was his destiny, his God-given destiny. Written in the stars, unchangeable.
Kaeya: I... hah. I live here, obviously, so-- Lumine: But you love it's people. Kaeya: ... Lumine: I don't know why I got that dream, or why it was so close to your truth. But... what I do know is that every time I saw that peacock, I didn't feel angry. I felt... sad. Lumine: His dad abandoned him to make him fulfill revenge for something that he wasn't involved in, he found a family that was immediately ripped away because he wasn't following his destiny, and he just decides that he has to lie all the time until the day he ends up dying. Lumine: That's such a lonely existence... I couldn't hate a poor creature like that. Lumine: I couldn't hate you like that.
She looks up at Kaeya innocently. Something within Kaeya stirs--it's like she's staring straight into his soul, dissecting everything about him. As she continues to speak, he can't deny her. Like she speaks the truth.
Lumine: If that dream is your reality, then I can't be mad at you. Instead, I'd just be sad. Sad that you wanted to try and be your own person but instead felt like you had to live up to what someone in your past did. That's all, really. Lumine: ...in a way, the Gods never really gave you a chance to grieve at all. Because 'destiny' was more important than you were to them. Lumine: At least, that's just what I'm th--
As Lumine looks up, a strange sight is before her. Kaeya is paralyzed, staring at the ground... and for a moment, she swears she could see something trailing down his cheeks.
A teardrop. A small, tiny teardrop.
Kaeya had lost everything. He didn't want to admit that, but he did. There was nothing for him.
His birth father left him to carry his ancestors' burden. His foster father died in front of his eyes. His best friend, brother, despised him. All the while, he lost the ability to feel like "himself".
He's a liar. A hollow, empty liar.
And instead of falling for his bluff, Lumine, this random stranger from who knows where, shattered that bluff on day one.
Impressive. Scarily impressive. To the point that Kaeya actually felt terrified.
Kaeya: ...hah. Wow. Are... a-are you a therapist? You really should try getting into that. You're, um. You're a very good listene--
Immediately, Lumine sets down her water and hugs Kaeya tightly. She's a lot shorter than him, so her head barely reaches up to his chest, but... for some reason, it's not cold. It's... warm.
Is this a hug?
What kind of hug is it?
A hug of passion and desire?
No. No, Kaeya can tell it isn't... it's too different from that.
A genuine hug from someone that's worried?
...there's no way it could be that, could it?
Lumine: ...you can grieve now. Kaeya: ... Lumine: ...it's long overdue by now, isn't it? I won't get mad at you, so... Lumine: ...I lost something too. We can both grieve together.
...this girl was something else. That much, Kaeya understood.
His hands twitched, not knowing what to do, only to loosely reciprocate the hug. Suddenly, his head moved lower, resting atop hers...
...and tears began to flow.
He choked it back as best he could--oh, how hard he tried. He clenched his teeth, his fists tightening, but he couldn't.
Was this his true feelings? He didn't know. He thought he repressed it a long, long time ago.
But for some reason, Lumine simply saying that she would grieve with him... felt comforting.
Kaeya: ...haha. F-fuck... this is... the worst first impression I've ever made on someone. Lumine, also tearing up: Don't worry. I won't tell. It'll be our little secret.
The two continue to hug, tears flowing. Yet, it felt... freeing. Rejuvenating.
As he wept, as his soul began to thaw, Kaeya asked one question to Lumine. As if seeking this answer his entire life.
Kaeya: Hey, kid? Lumine: Hm? Kaeya: If... if I said I don't want to see Mondstadt suffer... is that okay?
When she heard that question, Lumine squeezed him tighter, nodding.
Lumine: Yes. It has always been okay since the very start.
Someone had listened to him. Someone had listened to his truth... and, for once, someone told him... it was all okay.
Was that all he wished for? A gentle voice to tell him he could do as he wished, feel as he wished?
Was all he wanted an affirmation that... perhaps he could have happiness?
Maybe. Maybe that was all he wanted ever since he was abandoned those years ago. Ever since he was a kid.
And now, finally, someone found him trapped in the ice and helped him break free.
It was almost as if he was reborn anew...
As their tears dried, Kaeya and Lumine took the time to get some fresh air outside of the headquarters. They began to chat over mundane things to ease themselves of the pain. Perhaps it was the stars in the sky, or maybe about some passing cat. Whatever it was, they were at peace.
Then, Kaeya brought up a question.
Kaeya: So. You said you were grieving too. You... were talking about your brother, right? Lumine: Mn. I... don't feel the same without him, so. Kaeya: Right, right. Gotcha.
For a few seconds, there was yet another silence. But then, Kaeya began to speak once more.
Kaeya: ...Diluc was like my brother too. Lumine: Really? Kaeya: Yup. My best friend, my brother-in-arms... but I, um... Kaeya, looking down: I guess I just didn't get the chance to grieve that fact that we couldn't go back to that after he found out the truth. Lumine: ...hey, I'm sure that when the time comes, you could potentially go back to that. Right? Kaeya: ... Kaeya: Pfft. Optimistic, aren't you? Lumine: Haha, I try.
The two chuckle, before looking up at the stars in the night sky. The way they twinkle, the way the clouds roll through the dark indigo hue...
Kaeya: ...what if we try and fill the brother-shaped gap we both have? Lumine: Hm?
Lumine looks up, interested at Kaeya's query. Noticing her puzzled look, he laughs and reiterates.
Kaeya: I mean... you're missing a brother. I'm also just realizing I'm missing a brother. Why don't we both miss a brother together? A pair of siblings without their sibling.
The girl stares at him, then looks down, humming to herself with a smile on her face.
Lumine: So... it's like you'd be my brother and I'd be your sister? Kaeya: Well, if you'll have me. Just know though that, since you know the truth now, I'm not going to go easy on you. Lumine: Haha, wouldn't dream of it.
Right as she says that, she then gets another idea. Her voice has a hint of sincerity to it, a soft look in her eyes.
Lumine: And if you ever go back on your word about "wanting to keep Mondstadt safe", I'll be there personally to punch you back to reality.
Kaeya's stunned at this. To think, instead of being hated, instead, she says she'd be there personally to ensure it wouldn't happen... what an interesting girl.
His lips curl into a smile, and he holds out his hand in front of Lumine.
Kaeya: Sounds like a deal then, little miss Honorary Knight.
Lumine stares at the hand, then up at Kaeya, only to return the smile, firmly shaking his hand.
Lumine: It's my pleasure, Captain Eyepatch. Kaeya: Captain Eyepatch? Lumine: It's the ugly nickname Paimon gave you. Kaeya: Hm... Captain Eyepatch. Hey, maybe I should make that my new working title now that I have no cavalry to captain. Lumine: That... (laughs) that was terrible. Kaeya: You laughed. Lumine: I laughed because it was bad. Kaeya: Aww, come on. Admit it. Lumine: Hahaha!
Their laughter echoed throughout the night. The stars in the night sky shone brightly, the moon watching over the City of Mondstadt. That day, an unbreakable bond was forged.
...and that day, the wheels of fate began to turn.
Kaeya has now joined Lumine's team.

jesus christ holy shit holy fuck we're done so some lil notes here before we end it off. yes, this is how the fic is gonna look. im so sorry but also i like character dialogue so much. the way they interact helps them grow more naturally, and the way they talk gives you insight as to how theyre changing and how they act and just. AGH. love dialogue. hate descriptions. cant do that. yuck. also some non-story-relevant plot points (like the goddamn temples like srsly no one remembers those) will be skipped in the future, cuz fetch quests are both tedious to play and tedious to write. only major story events will be recorded. also no kaeya and lumine are not romantically attracted guys just cuz two people stand next to each other doesnt mean theyll kiss, they are like brother and sister. theyre besties. shush. lumines husband will show up to save his girlie in liyue okay this was genuinely a lot more fun than i thought it would be but also this was rlly fucking long im so fucking sorry anyway KLSDJHAFKLJHKL thats all i got for u

" what's your name ? " the prince gently offers his hand to the STRANGER on the floor . his guards surround them & although Kaeya is YOUNG, he is still a PRINCE . still in charge ; body moves to stand in the way of them , kaeya's entire demeanour screams: ' do not touch them. do not harm them. '
hand under chin, Kaeya contemplates the person in front of him . they will do. they will be my companion .
" come . you'll be with me. i'll take care of you and i will see to it that no harm comes to you . ah,
my name is kaeya. prince kaeya, if you must . but just kaeya will do . " // KADMWLSLQLA
THEY SHOULD BE DEAD BY NOW. They got nowhere else to go, no one to get back to and NOTHING to live for. At that point they would be more of a WALKING CORPSE than anything else, grasping on the few strains of light that their dark and miserable life held. Barely making it up to another day, another week and another year. But that will change today, RIGHT ?
Sold at a young age by their father as an undesirable mutt. The bastard child of a noble in inazuma as the product of an affair with his maid. Since day one their life has been nothing more than a BURDEN to those around them, USELESS to the eyes of their progenitor. Their mother couldn't stop him from giving away her child and as consequence, Tomo had it rough from the beginning. Taken to the main lands of Teyvat, far away from home to become the servant of those who have bought them for a generous amount.
But Tomoya has never been one to stay still. As soon as they had gotten a chance, they had ran as far away as possible. Taking dangerous routes and traveled distant regions they couldn't recall. With nothing to their name except a single pocket knife they had managed to find in an abandoned bundle. It's all they got and all they'll ever call 'theirs'.
They've come this far, SURVIVED for a year or two this way. Stealing, lying and bleeding along the way. They don't know the names of the nations they have been in . . Inazuma ( their place of birth ), Liyue, Sumeru, Mondstadt and now . . . KHAENRI'AH. . .
There's three CRIMES they committed in the fallen land. The first, STEALING. A couple of apples and carrots had been taken from a caravan in a desperate measure to eat something, anything. Second, fighting back the knights that had tried to arrest them. Kicking, punching, screaming and so much more. Third, attempting to MURDER someone. It had been an accident, the knife they used to protect themselves had almost taken down one of the official knights by mere chance and for that, others decided that Tomoya deserved TO DIE.
Dragged by their blond mane to the plaza for the public execution. Even then they tried to break loose though the grip was too tight and if they had managed to do so, another guard would have taken them back. It's a DEAD END, that's it. Their story ends here.
'I don't want to die', they think to themselves, 'I don't want to die! NOT HERE, NOT THIS WAY!'
It's not over yet.
HE, out of all the GODS and celestial beings in the sky, has given them another chance. Guards kneel down, a reverence for the PRINCE of these lands. Everyone shuts and listens to his words, as if he was the SUN that guided this GALAXY, as if no one could shine as bright as him.
Tomo doesn't look up, not until the other speaks at them. There's no rejection in his voice and instead of a glare they are met with a soft gaze. They are being treated as a HUMAN BEING. . . How odd, it's the first time that has ever happened to them.
Why isn't he mad ? Why isn't he roaring like a lion ready to kill the mouse that had invaded his territory ? Both are nearly the same age, perhaps a year or two of difference at most. In another time and era, they could be equals. But right now, the prince stood in front of a commoner, an alleged "CRIMINAL" by those guards that urged the noble to stand back for his own safety. Treated as an ANIMAL, a savage when they are just a kid wanting to live for another day.
❝ Tomo. . . ya. . . TOMOYA. ❞ No one knows their name and barely they know it themselves. No last name accompanies it though, as well as no star is found on those VIOLET hues of theirs.
With nothing to lose they stand by his side. Eyes are set on the two, JUDGING and not letting go. They don't know what to say besides nodding, a bit confused still on this LANGUAGE they haven't mastered fully.
Honestly, they don't get it. Tomoya takes his hand, in their face there's confusion, wondering why was he being nice to them. What was so SPECIAL about them that was WORTH SAVING ? No idea. Nevertheless, KAEYA has to be the FIRST AND ONLY person to ever held a hand out for them and for that, TOMO WILL TRUST HIM.
