i have some mutuals who would probably be interested in reading that essay... personally i'm very neutral when it comes to pepper -- no strong feelings either way. you make some intriguing points at any rate!

i've never really been able to relate to anti-*anything* stances in fandom, especially in regards to shipping. there's plenty of stuff out there that doesn't do anything for me, but that doesn't mean that i actively judge anyone for liking it. what i do enjoy very much is when people put a provocative twist on their characterizations, such as your reading of pepper as a manipulative gaslighter -- stuff like that is genuinely *interesting* to me, and i'm all for exploring it!

full disclosure: i also love to explore abusive relationships in fic, and have a bit of a gaslighting and manipulation kink, so... 😏😈😏

As for some canes blogs, I gotchu!! I'm definitely missing some people bc this is off the top of my head, but on my blog who I'm following is public and I follow lots of other good canes blogs from there if you wanna give that a look :) but make sure to definitely check out @smileysvech @pyotrkochetkov @callsign-denmark @human-trainwreck

The canes aren't super flashy, they don't have huge, generation-altering talent like McDavid or MacKinnon, but that doesn't mean we aren't full of talent, and obviously I'm biased but we get closer and closer every year to having a team that can win the cup. Most of their success can be attributed to smart decisions about managing draft picks, and also our head coach Brind'Amour who was on the team when they won the cup for the first time in 05

I'll start with Aho since you seem to already know a bit about him—he joined the canes in 2015 and was a superstar once he found his footing, and tbh if it wasn't for him we wouldn't have had a good foundation to get out of the "dark ages" LOL he's very introverted but he's no less passionate and he cares a lot about the game, probably takes playoff losses the hardest tbh. His most popular nicknames by both his teammates and the fans are fishy and seabass, and he also just got married to his high school sweetheart over the past summer in Finland! Right now he's alternate captain but a bunch of us are hoping he'll be named captain after Staal retires, because it's been said numerous times that this is now aho's team

Seth Jarvis is in his third year playing for us I believe. We got him as a draft pick actually, from Toronto and developed him on our AHL team before his talent was too great to keep him down. He's probably the most energetic, happy go-lucky guy we have on our team and not to mention insanely talented. He also lived with Aho and his gf-now-wife for a bit when he first started playing here, and because he's so close to fishy and our other finns he's been dubbed as the "honorary finn" 😅 also honorable mention: he is a shit driver and when moving out of aho's house, he backed up into a pole right in front of them LMAO he keeps the older guys on their toes and is probably closest to kk (another finn), svechy, and also drury and neci :') RIP

Andrei svechnikov, who is in my pfp along with jarvis, is my favorite player personally right next to slavin. He's from russia and an absolute sweetheart to the fans and his teammates, also very close to jarvis and the other younger guys, but was prolly closest to neci (again RIP). There's actually a pregame tradition where martinook will shout svech's name at the top of his lungs before they walk down the tunnel bc it helped with his nerves when he first started playing, you should look up videos bc it's hilarious LOL he's a beast on the ice when he chooses to be physical and was the first in the league to score a lacrosse goal back in 2020—he also takes the most penalties out of everyone on our team...

Our current captain is j. staal, who doesn't score all the time but he definitely comes in clutch when he has to. Our other alternates are martinook and slavin (both who have so many funny stories but for time I won't include those here), and imo slavin is the most underrated defenseman in the league bc without him we'd be cooked. Every player on our team is so important and contributes in different ways but I think this would actually turn into a fanfic if I wrote about every single guy, so if there's anything else about certain guys you'd love to know about then feel free to ask 😭

We have one of the closest team dynamics in my humble opinion and in every video of the guys, whether it's after a game or after practice or even getting off the plane, you won't ever see someone not smiling. I hope Mikko feels very welcome here and helps soften the blow 🫶

So many things have come out since April so I get it might be a bit overwhelming to know what to watch. I'll share some of my faves, but also I'll link my year end lists by country so you have some more options. Japan | Korea | Thailand

So since April specifically, there's a lot, I'll kinda divide them in ones more on the fluffy, happy side and some that should come with a warning. I'm the warning lol. Maybe you can choose what you feel like depending on your mood. Or maybe I'm the only one who does that. But anyway. I'll start with the angst.

- At 25:00 in Akasaka, Japan - Pretty much perfect, but prepare to suffer a bit as these boys really like to keep everything inside. Hayama is one of my favourite characters of all time, and I do like how the show played with the bl inside the bl. - Let Free the Curse of Taekwondo, Korea - PAIN. So much pain. All the trauma. But it's so good. Both of these guys have my whole heart. Great writing, compelling characters and incredible directing work. - Marahuyo Project, Philipines - You will laugh and you will cry almost in equal measure. Diverse queer rep, with an incredible group of characters. And it's on youtube. - Time of Fever, Korea - This is the story of Donghee and Hotae, before Unintentional Love Story. I can't not rec this one, because it was one of my big obsessions this year. Best to go into not thinking it's a prequel and just it's own thing, although I think it's great regardless. These were the heaviest ones, so now for some things more cheerful. - Knock Knock Boys, Thailand - 4 boys share a house, so you can see where this is going. Good rep, good female characters, some sex-ed, wonderful communication, for the most part, and two charming couples. - See Your Love, Taiwan -This one just finished and it was so lovely. Mostly the mains. But it's definitely a mixed bag. It's Taiwan so there's some weird mafia shit going on, there's some family drama, some lesbians crumbs (like almost non existent really), amazing parents on one side, great kissing and messy sides. But honestly the mains make the whole thing worth it, cause they are incredible and by the end my heart was bursting. - Sugar Dog Life, Japan - Fun, cute, wholesome, food as love and the most adorable boy. My pfp is one of the mains, so I obviously love him to no end. If you really wanna watch it and for some reason have an issue finding it, you can reach out to me, as this one was not made available internationally. - Only Boo!, Thailand - Probably the fluffiest one on the list. There were some writing issues near the end but honestly I just rewatched it recently and I felt so much joy. The leads are so damn endearing that it just makes me happy. - Every You, Every Me, Thailand - This is like 5 bls in one. Different stories, same actors. A lot of variety. You get the cute, the sad, the funny and the horny. All of it and all the tropes. It's not perfect but it's very entertaining. And the leads are amazing together. - The Trainee, Thailand - I don't know if you are an OffGun fan, but I am a big one so I have to rec this one always. It's an ensemble show, so the bl part of this is smaller than other shows on this list. But the group is great and the friendships really endearing. I also like the office part of this one. It feels realistic and it has some really interesting messages throughout. - Ayaka is in Love with Hiroko!, Japan - My favourite GL of the year, even if it's not perfect and kinda loses some of its strengths by the end, I still think it deserves a spot here, if for no other reason, so I can have a gl on the list lol. It's really funny, and yeah some moments kinda lost me, but I still think it's worth checking out if you feel like watching a jgl.

And now for a special mention. Not a QL, a Jdrama that was one of the best things I watched all year.

Oppan, Don’t Care for an Old Man’s Underwear! - All the joy, all the kindness. Just a group of the most amazing humans, not because they do everything right, but because they try so hard to be better. A father wanting to change for his son triggers so much change around him and it's a beautiful journey that had me in tears and filled with joy. We got to watch this one thanks to the amazing work of @isaksbestpillow that provided the fansubs.

so i recently made this post about the cognitive dissonance regarding this game and people using fucking CALL OF DUTY a game that is more or less a recruitment drive to make the US military look cool and try to get kids to join up and that GTA's wanted system is actually NOT rewarding you or something to try to play a dick measuring contest with coffin but this interaction really interested me and i wanna talk about it bc i just blocked them after they refused to answer the last question but this is a very specific kind of gaslighting tactic i'm very familiar with from my own days as an anti

i think p much all of us who are used to engaging with this discourse are used to like y'know, being called awful horrible disgusting things. this is not the first time some fucking weird random person came onto my content asking me if i was a kid didler or wanted to fuck my brother. ain't gonna be anywhere near the last time either folks, but i and Lord God knows that's not the case so i don't care what a rando on the internet says but here's the thing: you can't "win" this, but they want to win it. no matter what you say you are the absolute worst kind of dreg of society that should be shot behind a barn and no amount of anything would work. if i actually pulled a list of sourced all that would have happened was they would've doubled down on calling me an inc*s*ious p*d* that I would be willing to use articles probably written by "people like me." because YOU don't care about "winning" this argument, you just wanna get the facts out on your end. it's a catch-22 folks, nothing you say will get you out of it!

i started by calling them a karen, they immediately escalated the living FUCK out of it and tried to trap me in this catch-22 to keep feeling morally superior to me. me saying i don't have such desires and never will isn't enough because i like this game. nothing but me renouncing it will change it.

but here's the thing about antis- they fucking HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATE it when you turn it on them. look at the difference. look at the difference between they were the one throwing the catch-22 at me vs. the other way around. what about you? you just came onto my post to harass me, so i'll say it back. how about you? are you just accusing me of these horrible things because you are projecting your thoughts on me? you told me to get a therapist: so maybe you're the one that needs help if so!

Game of Thrones had in*e*t in it so everyone who likes it also is the same. and Demon Slayer, where the pfp is from is violent, so you support it. the main protag's little sister also gets a superpowered form where she gets physically older and a tits out kinda look. so clearly YOU want to see your sister in the same way, right?

and it went as expected. you can see the tone going from smug jerking off with a shit-eating grin to just annoyed while smelling their own farts like it's a rose. and the moment i started doing the same uh i got NO fucking answers and they stormed off. i waited half an hour for a response before blocking them

so why am i typing up this walltext? because i used to be an anti. i fucking guarantee you i would've called everyone who liked this game [insert horrible things] like 7-9 years ago. so let me tell you, you know what pisses off antis more than anything? more than ANYTHING? turning this catch-22 bullshit on them. this is the only way you can end this miserable conversation without blocking them.

He's my pfp don't be surprised he was the first one I designed! This guy was kind of a pain in the ass tbh,,, it took me quite a while to give him the perfect body and eyes...

Since this IS a magical girl au of Undertale, you're probably wondering what changes about this kid. First of all, he takes WAY MORE advantage of just how adorable he is! While he still really wants Frisk's soul, his manipulation is a little more sneaky than OG Flowey. He first teaches Frisk some of the basics (while acting innocent and sweet ofc) before bringing up a MAJOR PROBLEM. You see, Frisk's soul is powerful, so powerful in fact that any random monster would love to take their SOUL! But he can help them if they just let him "borrow" it. Unfortunately for Frisk, no matter what they say, he WILL take it by force if he must.

But a major difference between Undertale's Frisk and this au's Frisk is that MG!Frisk is more blatantly their own person since I want to play around more with magical girl tropes than video game ones since this 1. Won't be a game so it wouldn't make sense to play with RPG tropes and 2. I think it could be a fun exercise to try to implement and mess with tropes used in Magical Girl animes instead! I'll try to keep things similar since I'm not building a whole new world from the ground up, but I'll play differently than Tobert Foxington.

Why is this relevant? Weelll.... Flowey kinda sorta GETS HIS ASS BEAT!!!!

FRISK SHOOTS HIM DOWN UNTIL HE'S REAL BRUISED!! And then Toriel comes in, pretty much forcing him to leave since while Frisk could possibly be overpowered he is NOT defeating Toriel in this state.

Minor fun fact the reason he's PINK instead of golden is because he had magic injected into him that made his body warp and change. This is also why he's a humanoid instead of a proper flower.

If the trolls were sufficiently motivated, though, they wouldn't actually need to. Sollux could probably hack one of the kids' computers, to gain access to their Sburb viewport - although if he did, he wouldn't need a camera to snoop on their messages.

I assume time travel is involved, but that doesn't really narrow anything down in a comic like this. He (she? they?) is a complete enigma, and I'll just have to wait to learn more.

I've actually been workshopping some Quest stuff for Sahlee this week! I suppose I'd need to figure out her Title first, though, and for that, I'd need to get a more solid idea of her personality, and how her experiences on Alternia have shaped her.

in one of your last posts you seemed to imply that the multiverse exists inside the timeline, but ive always read it as the opposite, the timeline inside the universe that would explain why the trolls can pick any time from the humans universe to talk to them but cant have private conversations with their own futute/past selves, its not an inherent part of trollian, they are just outside the human timeline (the memos are still trollian being time fucky) dont know if that makes any difference but its a thought also i realize the tag may be unecessary due to my quirk, but its too late to stop now

Originally, my assumption was that each timeline contained a duplicate of the entire multiverse. Doomed timelines don't seem to let you communicate with other universes/dimensions, though, so they don't need to contain other sectors of reality. I'm currently of the opinion that doomed timelines only contain an instance of the dimension they were doomed in. The only timeline which contains the entire multiverse is the Alpha.

This mechanic keeps doomed timelines simple, but in-universe, I don't know why it exists. Much like the Alpha itself, it's a mystery I can only speculate about.

Tavros is barely a presence on the Land he's ostensibly the hero of, and all of his actions are being dictated by a third party who can physically control his body. This third party does not acknowledge or respect Tavros's own desires, effectively forcing him to play the game in a way that she personally approves of.

See, I'd probably find old fandom theories absolutely fascinating to analyze. I'd love to know how closely my ideas align with those of the early Homestuck fandom, and whether I'm saying anything really out-of-pocket. My analysis of Sollux's ~ATH script was apparently an original theory, and it's honestly one my proudest moments.

But that's also sort of the problem, isn't it? If I dive too deeply into other people's fan theories, they'll start to affect my own - and if I'm introduced to a really compelling fan theory, it could end up replacing any homegrown theories that I could have developed in lieu of it. If someone had send me a well-reasoned ~ATH theory before I did my own analysis, I'd probably have been less motivated to make the analysis in the first place. After all, many of my questions would already have been answered by a clever theory I just read.

People are free to send me their own off-the-cuff opinions on what's happening in the comic, or their own takes on any meta I write. I get a lot of asks like that, and they're some of my favorites.

Obviously there's a fine line here, and whether a given ask is a theory or just an opinion is a little subjective - but in my opinion, the influence that asks and submissions have had on my analysis has been relatively minor. I don't think many of my theories have been spawned from an ask, or killed by one.

This is a little different, though, because it's part of a theory that was crowdsourced over several years. It doesn't sound like something that could be inferred by an individual, so I'm not sure if it's something an individual liveblogger should necessarily know about? If I start crowdsourcing my analysis, my theories will be less Wertsearch and more fandom consensus, and I don't think I'd enjoy that as much.

I really want to know, but I think I'll enjoy the liveblog more if I don't. When I finish the comic, I'll gleefully analyze any fan theory that anyone sends me - but for now, I'll just have to wonder, and come up with theories of my own!

Yeah, we've really been getting into it with Vriska lately. I've enjoyed trying to explain and predict her actions, and I'm glad people don't think I'm going overboard when trying to analyze her.

When a character does something interesting, I don't like to move on until I have a theory about why they did it. Sure, it may be refuted later, but it needs to be something that's consistent with what I currently know about their personality.

Vriska takes a particularly long time to puzzle out in this way. Her motivations are derived from a complex web (lol) of factors, including Scratch, Spidermom, her rivalry with Terezi, her horrendous relationship with Tavros, classism, teenage hormones, quadrant politics, highblood society and the Alternian culture of violence. They all inform her decisions, and any combination of them could have been the catalyst for the latest Vriska Incident.

I want characters to make sense to me, and Vriska is written to deliberately challenge my attempt to achieve this. Her meta is fun to write, so I'm glad it's also fun to read!

Yay, thank you for requesting James, my baby, the satyr who started it all, my PFP! I actually have already written a non-romantic kiss between him and his best friend Alice when they're children; I'll share it below. But in the spirit of the ask game, I also wrote another quick platonic kiss between him and his sister Charlotte, just for you. Thanks for the ask @whensecretsrise!

Platonic kiss between childhood friends:

They were hidden under the oak tree. Carefully the children touched their lips together. Alice then immediately pulled back, but James corrected her. “You’re supposed to hold your mouths together longer than that!”

“Are you?”

“That’s how it looks when my parents kiss each other.”

Alice’s eyes widened. “They kiss each other in front of you?”

He shrugged. “Sometimes.”

“Maybe that’s just the satyr way of kissing, then; my parents never do any such thing in front of Peter and I.”

James never minded Alice pointing out differences between their kinds or asking questions about his. He knew she was just curious and didn’t see him as beneath her, like many other humans did.

“I don’t think it’s something only satyrs do, at least the kissing for a long time bit, because kissing is supposed to feel nice, isn’t it? And how can it feel nice if you barely touch before separating again?”

Alice didn’t need any more convincing. “All right. Let’s try it again.”

They pressed their lips back together and held still, waiting. “Is something supposed to happen?” Alice mumbled against James’s lips.

“Keep waiting; let’s see,” James mumbled back.

They waited a few moments longer, but then James started to smile, and that made Alice giggle, and then they both broke apart laughing.

“Did you feel anything nice?” Alice asked her friend.

“Not really,” James said. “Well, I suppose it was rather nice, like when my mama kisses me, but doing it for a long time is just strange.”

Alice agreed with him. They both thought they’d probably continue with kissing their parents only. Alice was certain she would never kiss James again, and James was certain he would never kiss Alice again.

James let his head thump down onto his arms on the table. "I've ruined everything with Alice," he moaned.

Charlotte bent over and sweetly kissed the top of his head, right in between his horns. "You can still fix things." Then she grabbed the point of his ear and tugged, making him yelp. "But not if you keep moping around. Come now. Get up."

Intro post for a blog dedicated to a Minecraft oc of mine, based off of, you guessed it!! The Pale Garden!!!

(everything under the cut)

This is an oc ask/lore dumping blog, mainly stuff so I don't get too disorganized with all my things for this critter.

This character is named Koren, a wooden doll type character out in the woods. She's entirely on her own, and has been for about as long as she can remember.

But skipping some vital information, lore, a heart that's not hers, a strange connection to the sun and an axe, this is set after she's found by another oc of mine, named Bryer.

Bryer is essentially Korens caretaker/gaurdian, despite the fact Bryer herself is only 21, she's making do with raising the weird ass kid she found out in the woods one day.

Bryer won't have as much of a vital role in this, more so just the person "running the blog", so every post after this will be in one or the others perspective.

General rundown for lore below!!

Koren is in no way related to The Creaking, instead being the one who's currently keeping it's heart as her own, The Creaking has tormented Koren since she's been in the garden. So for a long ass time, poor kid.

Koren doesn't actually know she's not human, nor the fact her heart isn't hers, but she gets a feeling somethings wrong. Wether it's the scratching against her cabins windows, or the pair of eyes watching her at night. Probably nothing too serious!!

Quick thing before I move on, the face you see down below (if I remember to put the pic of her), isn't an actual "face". Koren is currently wearing a mask. What's under it could be funky!!

(Now, because I don't wanna spoil absolute EVERYTHING, I won't be rambling too much on here! All in all, Koren is an anxious mess of a kid that's just trying her best. And she's almost completely blind, forgot to mention that.)

Aww the births of The Pastel Siblings! Though Leelathae's thought during each of the births...it breaks my heart :( it seems that she view the births of The Pastel Siblings as a way to apologize for her "mistake" (in which she didn't make any mistake at all), even though it shouldn't be like that at all...

I'm surprised no animals appear at Maria's birth lol. I was really expecting for a deer or birds to suddenly appear haha.

This IS making me a bit worried though. I don't know much about child births and stuff but while it is normal to still feel pain after giving birth, is it possible that there were some complications leading to Leelathae's dead 3 years after giving birth to Gwen and Jamie? I'll let someone more knowledgeable to figure out what is happening with Leelathae since I have no idea at all.

Anyway! Finally, a close up on Pastel Siblings as babies!! I know we've seen them before in the portraits beside Jack's bed, but it's nice to see them clearer.

Initially, I was worried how Leelathae would react to Gwen, but nevermind that

I'm so happy about this scene :') Leelathae realizing how beautiful Gwen is, even calling her the most beautiful in all the land. Also her saying as long as Gwen thinks she's beautiful, then what other people think doesn't matter makes me sob. Mother love is always something so touching.

On the other hand though, it made me a little confused now on why she asked Jack to lock up the children and never let them out. Looking at one of the fast pass episode's thumbnail, maybe it's because of the witch? We're nearing the end and there are still so many questions.

Do you have any favorite bl dramas or bl series that you watched that came out this year? What are they if you have any?

Hello anon. For sure I do. I've actually been thinking about this as the end of the year is approaching but since there are still a couple of shows to go, I haven't properly started thinking about my lists. Last year it took me forever so I wanted to start earlier this year, but just like what I say every year about shopping for xmas presents, I doubt I'll actually do it. But since you graced my inbox I'll give you some of my faves who will definitely come up in my end of year lists.

Let's start with Thailand and a couple of my fave og pairs that graced our screens this year.

Cherry Magic Thailand

I love all Cherry Magic versions. They are all different and special in their own way. Of course you give me cherry magic and TayNew and do it right, and it's pretty much perfection in my book. They are lovely and this show was a joy.

The Trainee

I love them. I will watch them always. Was it perfect? Nope. That whole separation bit was silly. But the ensemble was great to watch, it was funny, and the workplace drama I thought was realistic. I'm thinking I might still rewatch this one again this year if I have the time.

Korea was strong this year, and the year started great with

Love for Love's Sake

I have a hard time finding the words to talk about this show so I'll keep it brief. It was original, devastating and beautiful. And it gave us the blorbo of all time.

Time of Fever

This one released all episodes at once but the brainrot lasted a couple of months. I like to think of it as a stand alone piece and it destroyed me in the best way. It was so well acted and so beautifully shot. Just looking at them makes my heart hurt. Although in my head they had a happy ending and ULS is a completely different show.

And last but obviously not least, and this pains me to say, it was kind of a mixed bag for Japan this year. There was still plenty of good stuff though.

Sugar Dog Life

As you can see from my choice of pfp, I love Isumi a normal amount. This show was such an amazing surprise. I've rewatched twice since it ended so it's becoming one of my comfort watches. It was so wholesome and adorable and the besties were amazing, and the food as usual played an important part. I love it so much.

A Man Who Defies the World of BL 3

He came back to us!!!! I love all the seasons, but this one is probably my favourite. It's so funny. Hatano was such an interesting addition and I still want to know more about him. The only problem with this show is that it was only 6 episodes.

it used to be once a week... but these days it's really a daily routine lmao. although i'm pretty sure i'll leave my tumblr dusting once my stand-in ends... who knows... we'll see...

lana @sherrymagic whenever you see me reblogging lana's joe sets every week, you'll see me gushing about the consistency in her coloring and that's because that's something i'm obsessed with, especially considering my stand-in's grim/dark cinematographic coloring. also i don't know how lana chooses the perfect lines from each eps to do her recap sets because most of the times i can't even choose between which scenes to gif.

eva @alienwlw eva makes the most beautiful lyrics set and is willing to do my most niche requests and i'm always looking forward to seeing her gifs because it's always so warm and grainy and crisp and i'm just like wahhhh *heart eyes emoji* every time
