Note
everyone's talking about music in your asks so i wanna know what your music hcs are for the genshin boys 👉👈
anon im so sorry for taking so long to reply but i really thought about it... and this is the first time ive ever made like a list of hcs so bear with me
i didnt know whether you meant hcs for the type of music they listened to or like them as musicians so i kinda did both
Genshin boy’s music headcannons under the cut!!
characters: kaeya, diluc, venti, albedo, bennett, razor, xingqiu, chongyun, zhongli, childe, xiao, scaramouche, aether, dainsleif
kaeya:
I get big sweater weather by the neighbourhood vibes from him
bi icon i guess
He loves the neighbourhood
Daddy issues by the neighbourhood yessir
He can play the guitar. his voice is okay, he’s not bad, he can sing and its really nice but its not the prettiest out of all the genshin boys
he loves serenading people and it just works bro, he knows exactly how to make people fall for him
diluc:
a lot of ppl say he would listen to like emo music or something but he listens to classical music
i mean he's a nobleman after all
he grew up learning the piano so he fell in love with classical music at a young age
unlike kaeya, he doesnt serenade people, instead you can find him playing piano at midnight, very captivating (i think i said this in a previous post lol)
hates it when kaeya gets control over the music
definitely the "pop music is so annoying and meaningless" bitch
venti:
nicki Minaj
I dont know why but nicki Minaj
Maybe doja cat too ngl
tbh venti just loves every genre of music
but he really loves everything the nameless bard has ever sung to him - whether it was an original song or not
Learnt every instrument just so he could play the nameless bard’s music wherever he went - venti loves him and his music very much
albedo:
Something magical
ghibli soundtracks maybe?
he likes merry-go-round from howls moving castle that's for sure
maybe chill vibey music
Luke chiang, maybe?
I wouldn’t be surprised if he could play the piano too but violin me thinks… or maybe viola just to prove how much better he is at music theory oooh so fancy he can read alto clef even though violas suck
Only sings lullabies to klee, doesnt sing otherwise, but he has a very calming and pretty singing voice, everyone wishes he sang more (khoi dao singing :,) )
bennett:
number one victory royale- no jk he doesn't listen to that shit unironically
bennett likes Wilbur Soot
really likes your new boyfriend
but other than that he really likes music with deep lyrics, he likes meaningful things
he also really likes singing, he's not that great at it but he loves it and he wants to get better at it
would probably be a band kid, probably plays the trumpet or something
razor:
razor doesn't really understand music
he doesn't have a favourite genre or artist or song
but he really likes bennett's singing
even if bennett thinks he's bad, razor likes listening to him sing, he thinks bennett is the best singer in all of teyvet
he doesn't know this wilbur soot guy, he thinks those are bennett’s songs and that bennett wrote im in love with an egirl about fischl and doesn’t know how to feel about that
Razor cant play any instruments but if he did maybe drums??? Hm…
xingqiu:
everyone thinks he likes classical music - which he does, its just not his favourite
he listens to cavetown me thinks
like i think he listens to cavetown if you get what im saying
Sings lemon boy to chongyun even if he isnt a good singer
He plays the flute, not the best, he’s still learning
his older brother plays the violin and they often argue about which is the better/worse instrument
chongyun:
rnb? I get an rnb vibe from him
maybe krnb? like junny and crush
Chongyun is very swaggy imo so i feel like he’d like swaggy chill music therefore krnb
Not the biggest fan of cavetown but if xingqiu is listening to this is home then chongyun knows he has to be there to comfort him and sits through the song anyways
Chongyun doesnt play any instruments, he sings all the time without realizing it though
he has a very nice voice and xingqiu always tells him this but he doesnt believe this (kinsens singing voice ;-;)
zhongli:
yet another classical music enjoyer
doesnt really mind other genres but he doesnt really like rap
also really likes old rock
journey, the Beatles, queen, he loves it all
but his favourite song is the song guizhong sings to the glaze lilies, nothing can replace that
Cant sing for shit, which is why he cant pick glaze lilies himself
Cant play any instruments either, playing music was always guizhong’s thing, not really his so he never bothered learning
childe:
pop music, whatever’s on the radio im sorry white boy
but also… hayloft? I feel like he would listen to hayloft but the question is would he listen to hayloft?
Surprisingly listens to rich brian bc he heard scaramouche listening once and loved it
Can sing, like he gets the notes right and stuff, nobody wants to hear it though (im so sorry griffin burns)
But sometimes he sings lullabies to tonia, anton, and teucer and :,)
Knows a little bit of piano - he had to teach tonia a bit back home bc they couldnt afford a piano teacher for her until he became a harbinger
xiao:
my chemical romance- nah I'm just joking he likes calming music, mcr and music like that would actually get on his nerves
he likes whatever venti plays
which makes him another big fan of the nameless bard - he doesnt know the songs aren’t venti’s though
JOJI
I think he likes joji, slow dancing in the dark and like you do are his favourites
Agoraphobic by corpse husband
Wishes he knew more about music but whenever venti offers to teach him he gets all “an adeptus doesn’t need to know such things”
He only sings to venti and the traveler whenever he thinks they’re asleep or sings them to sleep but he has sUCH A NICE VOICE (orz kinsen) - traveler and venti team up to get him to sing more
scaramouche:
CHOKE ME LIKE YOU HATE ME BUT YOU LOVE ME
Corpse husband.
literally just loud music with heavy bass I can see scaramouche listening to that
blasts that shit at the zapolyarny palace so that everyone knows he's there
signora hates it - childe, not so much but finds it a bit annoying sometimes
This man cant sing, he refuses to and he refuses to play an instrument
NO WAIT HE LIKES TAKAYAN
Cheating is a crime by takayan is his anthem
aether:
He likes whatever reminds him most of home, whatever makes him nostalgic
butterfly by bts
Youth by troye sivan
how to save a life by the fray
Mr loverman by ricky montgomery?
yeah sad music, he doesn't know where his sister is, he wants to go home, of course he'd be sad
Aether likes troye sivan, he gives me that vibe
Ukulele boy aether :o
He used to play the ukulele and sing with lumine (luyin kana’s voice :”) )
abyss prince aether tho hmmm… might be a different story, i feel like he wouldnt be a ukulele boy but he would still listen to sad music me thinks
dainsleif:
He doesn’t listen to music
Knows about music, but doesn’t listen to it
They say long ago he used to sing a lot, rumour has it he was one of the best singers in Khaenri'ah, he doesnt sing anymore
Hears aether singing and gets sad about lumine (or vice versa)

Hair colour: Dark brown
Current face claim: A customized cartoon character from Avatoon.
General info:
Birthdate: 21st May, 1992
Age: 29 years
Zodiac: Gemini
Birthstone: Emerald
Ancestral background: Indian, from mom's side, American from Dad's.
Hometown: LA, California (born); Kolkata, West Bengal (brought up).
Education: St. Jonathan's Convent, Kolkata; Presidency University, Kolkata; Boston University School of Medicine.
Nationality: Citizen of India, applied for a green card in the US.
Family: Manimala B. Hepburn (Mom, passed away in 2017), Thomas Hepburn (Dad, dead to Inara, they'll kill me on knowing that I've mentioned him here), Juthika Banerjee (Maternal aunt), Bhaskar Banerjee (Maternal uncle), Swara Banerjee (Cousin), Ayan Goswami and Vaani Sinha (Childhood friends, chosen family).
S/O(s): Pranani Dutta (ex, dated for 4 years) Vaani Sinha (ex, a brief trial before realizing it wouldn't work out), Dr. Ethan Jonah Ramsey (current long term partner).
Nicknames: Rookie (Ethan), Inu (Pranani), Nars (literally everyone), Tara (family members), Kokil (mom).
Personality traits: Witty, empathetic, kind as to let people walk all over them. Alternates between extreme don't-give-a-f*ck and extreme people pleasing attitudes, struggles to say no. Sarcastic to the bone, and a complete clown in front of people close to her. Communist, idealistic, but passionate enough to put in the work to get the world to the place she deems it should be.
Random facts:
Inara is bilingual. She can converse fluently in English, Bengali, or Hindi, and is currently learning Spanish for her newfound love of Spanish music.
Proud owner of a typewriter, Geetabitan, the entire Hercule Poirot book collection, and the Diagnostics Principles by Dr. Ethan Ramsey.
Having grown up among extreme financial crunches, Inara is a bit too stingy for their own good. They squeeze toothpaste out of tubes till the last drop, choose to buy only specific vegetables according to cost efficiency, stitch and alter old clothes to reuse multiple times, and cannot for their life attend a single rich people event without wearing a constant "save me" look on their face.
She can sing. Really well, but she sucks at playing an instrument. Or… she can do both, but not simultaneously. She barely learnt to play a little bit of the harmonium and the ukulele, but she always wanted a partner who either has a good voice or plays an instrument. Luckily for her, Ethan has a passable singing voice, but she had fallen for him a little more when she had gotten to know he plays the cello.
Inara's 3 main life obsessions include rainbow merchandise, clothing in general, and earphones. They can sell themselves for the love of these goods, and if you as much as touch these belongings of theirs, they will set you on fire. An important ground rule they always establish with their intercourse partner is that their clothes cannot be harmed in the process of taking them off. Ethan had once ripped off a button, and they did not talk to him for an entire day until he ordered ten more such satin shirts at his own expense.
Inara loves cats! Animals in general, but more specifically cats. No wonder she's dating Ethan.
Rabindrasangeet SNOB, their favourite pass-time with Naveen is to mutually obsess over the white-bearded man's songs. They also have sort of an inside joke with him, that they might secretly be related to him, cause he and their mother share the same maiden surname, whereas he and they, an incredible and easy bond.
Inara has two patent nicknames she loves to address other people with. The first one is Honey, which is mostly used as a sarcastic form of address, and the second B*tch, is used as an affectionate one.
They are a self-proclaimed wannabe stereotypical queerperson. They want to have at least 7 piercings in weird places on their body, and tattoos depicting random stuff like a cat in those savage sunglasses, or deep quotes saying "stay strong". But unfortunately, they are not strong enough to even think about the prospect of needles piercing their skin. Hence, they try to treasure that one nose piercing their mom had gotten done on them when they were little. As of now they also drink iced coffee, reply in key-smashes, pity queerphobes with a passion, and look forward to the day they'll be brave enough to dye their entire hair blue, orange, or purple, and carry it off in style.
So that was my entry for the 'Meet my MC' event. I was so stoked ever since this was announced, but clueless for the longest time regarding what to post and how to post it. I'm so happy I finally did this, and I can't wait to know what everyone thinks.

Play me another
One of the very few cases where V is thankful for the ex-rocker in her head.
V suppressed a scream as she fucked up her finger placement for the 100th time. Ever since they’d broken into Kerry’s apartment and stolen his guitar, Johnny had been set on teaching V how to play it. Unfortunately, he never predicted it would be this difficult.
“I thought you were helping me.”
Johnny backed away from the window; he’d given up hours ago. “I am. It’s not my fault you play the guitar like a 5-year-old.”
“Yeah? Well, at least I’m alive enough to play the guitar.” Hyped from her ‘clever’ yet grammatically incorrect comeback, V turned to look at Johnny. She wished she didn’t. The cat-obsessed asshole was stalking Nibbles as he chased a stray crisp packet and was too distracted to register the comment.
Noticing the sudden silence, Johnny pinched the bridge of his nose and glitched to the table, directing his attention to the merc.
“Look, just go from the top and try not to fuck it up.” V raised an eyebrow, “And if you do go wrong? Improvise.”
Once again, V began to play, her fingers meticulously drifting up and down the fingerboard. She obviously bit her bottom lip. The usually stressed, aggravated merc was swimming in a sea of concentration. Until…
“FUCK.”
Her index finger slipped, and the guitar produced an unholy twang.
“And here I was, believing lesbians had skilled fingers,” Johnny murmured.
V scrunched her face in frustration, and Johnny couldn’t help but feel an ounce of sympathy for the girl. Sure, she was annoying, reckless and uncultured in the world of rock ‘n roll, but it was her first time picking up an instrument, and god knows she’s trying her best. Even Johnny had his fair share of tantrums, one of which involved him cracking a wall with his practice guitar. The wall came off worse.
“Fuckin hell,” moving towards V’s side, Johnny pointed at one of the missile finger markers, “These are there for a reason. Let’s try it slow and steady. Follow my beat.” The ex-rocker rhythmically slapped his thigh, allowing V to count herself in.
Johnny mentally cursed when he heard the door of V’s apartment side open but continued to keep the beat in hopes that V wouldn’t notice their visitor.
The visitor in question was pleasantly surprised to see her girlfriend murmuring to herself as she plucked Johnny Silverhand’s guitar. Judy Alverez couldn’t shake how unusual it felt. Not only did V look calm, but the radio was off. V was dependent on the radio - even slept with it on as silence made her feel alone. Unlike her life, music was something V could control and something that could drown out those unwanted thoughts.
If V wasn't slowly dying, Judy would’ve thought it was cute.
Noticing the merc's control over the strings slipping, Judy placed the box of food (which V was now reliant on) by the sofa and wrapped her arms around her girlfriend’s neck, humming a tune into her collarbone. The tension in V’s shoulders dissolved, and Johnny glitched into the back of her mind.
“Hey you,” V tilted her head, allowing Judy to kiss her cheek before gesturing to the guitar, “Is this new?”
“It’s Johnny’s. We stole it from one of his band members, and now he’s teaching me to play.”
“It looks complicated.” The techie traced the turning keys, “I learnt the ukulele at school, but I can’t remember it having this many strings.”
V couldn’t feel Johnny rolling his eyes, but she knew he was probably damning that statement to hell.
“Did you learning the ukulele have anything to do with Jenni Chapman?”
“Maybe.” Looking guilty, Judy joined her girlfriend on the sofa, “How’d you know?”
V threw her head back in laughter and gestured to Judy’s attire, “You don’t come across as the Hawaiian ukulele type!”
Overcome with affection, Judy launched herself at the merc, wrapping her arms around V’s torso and pushing her further onto the sofa, so she topped.
“Well, you’re not much of a musician yourself, mi calabacita.”
V shook her head in shame, “I bet I’m a good teacher, though.”
Judy looked doubtful and reluctant but still shuffled up and onto her knees, granting V the chance to show off her skills. V handed Judy the guitar and fastened herself to Judy’s back like a Koala.
“Alright, I have a song in mind which I think you’d like. You only need 5 chords, and thankfully, they all follow the same pattern.”
“And if I don’t know the song?”
“You’ll know the song.” V reached over Judy’s chest and took her fingers, guiding them to the correct position, “This is F#.” V moved Judy’s fingers, downwards, “And this is F#m.”
“What’s the difference?”
“This one is a minor key. It sounds different.”
“The rest are relatively simple,” V guided Judy’s index finger to the 3rd string, her middle finger to the 5th string and her ring finger to the 4th string before playing all six strings in unison. “That’s the E chord.” V continued, “This is A major, and this is G major.”
“Is that it?”
“Pretty much. If you’re not ready to put it all together, I don’t blame you.”
“Run it through with me slowly?”
V nodded silently, nervous for Judy’s reaction. She crouched in front of the guitar and mimicked Johnny’s earlier movements by tapping a light beat on her thigh so Judy could follow along. It was a beginners pace but fast enough for Judy to recognise.
“Pyramid song?” Her voice was barely a whisper.
Unable to detect the techie’s tone, V anxiously picked at the skin surrounding her nails, “I saw your lyric tattoo when we first met, and I remember you telling me it was your favourite song because it reminds you of home and when you go diving.” Unsatisfied with silence, V continued, “I wanted to learn it anyway because it served as a reminded of our first date but figured I could teach it to you anyway because-”
Judy cupped V’s cheeks and pulled her up to meet her lips. The kiss wasn’t forceful or desperate, just loving and appreciative. Unlike everything else in NC, it was simple: it was them.
Judy pressed their heads together, “You’re such a gonk.”
“But I’m your gonk.”

I’m gonna be hella honest here, 2020 wasn’t the drastic life changing year i had hoped it’ll be.
Now its a tradition, well maybe, not really. Who knows...
Let’s start with the goals which ive accomplished in 2020 yeah?
Have less regrets Live more, experience more, get out of the comfort zone Be hardworking, be brave Work hard for the company Rekindle ties to the ones important to me Start working on my YouTube channel for company Study hard Be more confident, be more social Be a nicer and kinder person
Yes i definitely have had lesser regrets overall, i learnt that listening to that gnawing feeling in my gut is one of the few things that will lead me to get less regrets. Perhaps that’s an indication of something that you really want on the inside. Many times this year i just took a leap of faith and made decisions on the fly, going out of my way many times just to do the things i wanted to do. The me a year ago would never have done any of these things, let alone spend any money or time into such ‘frivolous’ activities.
Lets go through some of the highlights for my accomplished goals.
1. Bought Airshow tickets on impulse and rented camera lenses just because i had a shot i wanna get.
Ended up getting that money shot and feeling pretty accomplished. It was nice to meet up and connect with fellow aviation enthusiasts and friends from my Air Force days, but i still felt like i didn’t fit in. Oh well, i didn’t regret anything. I set my mind to a thing i thought would be fun and challenging and i did it!
2. Trespassing into the green corridor for an assignment during the circuit breaker
haha...Definitely isn’t worth the trouble in the end due to shitty unusable footage and total lack of input when it comes to the editing process. BUT STILL, the feeling of walking through thick jungle and jumping over construction barricades and barriers in the middle fo some goddamn forest just to get some footage is an experience nonetheless! Shitty teammates, good thing we managed to pull through and made some friends along the way. Wasn’t worth it, but i didn’t regret the experience one bit.
3. Got into more active activities with an open mind.
Went to the gym with friends a lot more and tried to lead a healthier lifestyle, cycling, hema classes (more about that in a bit) The me from a couple of years ago would definately never give this idea a shot. Running at least once a week, keeping track of my health, all these made me feel a lot better. I should really get into it more though.
4. Hema classes
.
Never thought swinging swords around can be that much fun! And i almost didn’t want to show up because i had a sudden surge of social anxiety in the morning before. Glad i powered through that to get to that class that october aternoon. I was mostly on autopilot, depressed and wanting more...but for the last few months of the year, hema classes gave me something to look forward to, and this really changed up my entire outlook then. I suppose having a newfound hobby you never knew you liked changes people for the better.
5. Going out of my way many many times just to help out a friend. Or just to hang out.
I remember being too lazy to go out and have fun. Too lazy to wanna get up to get something done even with friends. Installing internet access points, cleaning up rooms, setting up laptops etc. Perhaps its the large amount of FOMO i’ve started to develop, or maybe its just me sick of being a sad loney wreck. Who knows, all i know is its a blessing to have friends and i am so glad that they’re willing to give me their time of the day as well.
6. Making videos for work.
I didn’t HAVE to do this. Autopilot at work is a scary thing, its my own company and i could’ve done so much more... but i didn’t... or rather i couldn’t. I don’t remember what came over me and how i manage to find the willpower to shoot the videos then edit them over a few days. And i have no idea how i managed to actually follow through with it and get the damn thing edited. Not my proudest work, but damn am i proud of myself for actually doing the thing!
7. Keeping at it for school and not giving up.
Statistics, the killer module. Logistics, another killer one. I studied so so hard for it, i thought i was going to fuck it up like how i fucked up my assignments. But I am so so so glad that it paid off. Taking days of work to study is the correct move and i am so glad i had the discilpine to stick with it. Haha discilpline i said, more like letting the panic set in untill i find myself studying as if my life depended on it. But still, an A and a B+ feels really great though. My first A, that’s still something to celebrate for! Thanks for helping, you know who you are!
8. Giving more of a shit for my company
Im a little undecided about whether i should put this under the part about having no regrets. I am happy with the money and growth we’ve got in our company, alongside the many happy customers ive got, I still somehow felt that i have struggled so much and had a lot more anxiety and stress as compared to the previous years. Perhaps i just need to chill. Although i don’t doubt the fact that taking more responsibility does indeed make things less mundane. Appreciate the increase in pay and bonuses though.
9. Spent quality time with family
I used to have this feeling whenever i am around my cousins, these are the people whom i’ve grown up wit,h and who i used to consider really close friends. I just felt that over the years we have just became different people altogether. They’re normies with normal hobbies, living their lives normally and successfully while im just a weird outsider.
Im somewhat glad that we managed to find some common ground in gaming and our talking sessions. Attending their wedding is a weird feeling but im still somewhat glad that a part of them is still the same on the inside. We might not be as close anymore but im still happy that they treasured the times and memories we had just the same as i did. Lets hope i’ll not fuck it up and i’ll need another chance to rekindle this relationship. Still, them being more successful in life and work still gives me this crazy inferioty complex around them.
Talking with my mom has given me a lot of peace of mind. I am so glad that I have a responsible parent and business partner who shares the same values as i do. Makes things a lot less stressful to know that she’s got my back.
10. Became more social
Yep, went out of my comfort zone many times to talk to people and help out when i could! Its always good to do the kind thing and reach out, when i’d just brush it off as someone else’s problem previously. I am really proud of myself for this.
Now for the goals ive failed. Start work on my personal YouTube channel Join the weeb club to find more gamer weeb friends Learn weeb speak Be healthy Learn 2 songs on bass guitar or ukulele Draw at least once a month (I did but they’re not completed art)
Oof, i don’t know perhaps its the lack of time or the lack of effort. Maybe i’ve been putting in so much effort into the other things i don’t have the mental energy to process these. Perhaps i don’t want it bad enough...
Art and drawing in particular has been really bad. I want to be good at drawing so badly but i really just can’t be arsed to practice. Music too.
I think i am definately healtheir than before but i am nowhere near where i should be. Gotta step up!
Now here’s what i wanna do for the next year
Keep healthy, Lose weight! Be even more social! Start work on personal youtube channel Learn ONE SONG on any instrument Draw at least twice in the next year! Live even more, experience more, get out of the comfort zone more! Be hardworking, be brave

The Same Four Notes
Chapter Twenty Six - Roman
The song in this chapter is called 'The Same Four Notes' (woah, like the title!), written by myself. There is currently no way to listen to it, but who knows there could be in the future.
Roman positioned himself at the microphone. The room was filled with potential adoring fans, and he was so ready for this. The song had come along nicely, even if the lyrics were a little fast-paced, way faster than he was used to. It was going to go amazingly, though. After watching the other acts from backstage, he was almost certain that they could win.
"Hello," he said to the audience, figuring it was best to do a short introduction. "This is a song called 'The Same Four Notes', written by my-" He paused. Boyfriend probably wasn't the best word to use here, not in front of basically the entire school. "-by my good friend, Logan, and composed by our pianist, Virgil. So, let's just get straight to it."
He gave a quick nod to the tech crew in the box, and listened into Patton's strumming, counting in his head for when he was supposed to come in. As he sang the first line, Virgil's piano playing begun as well.
"I never understood, A simple thing like love, I never thought that I, Could ascend to the sky."
And so it begins. Roman was as ready as he'd ever be. And the lyrics were perfect. Nothing less from Logan, he supposed.
"I never really got, Why people had such luck, I never knew why, These people had to cry."
The song had started off slower, at least, although it seemed to sped up with every verse. That was just to prepare him for the chorus, which was fast. This would be fine, though. He had rehearsed and rehearsed, over and over until he got it right. He wouldn't let himself make in mistakes. He had to make sure that everything was perfect, just as planned.
"I guess I thought that I, Would never hear those lies, I guess I thought that we, Would never get to be."
He hadn't noticed before, but now that he was paying attention to the lyrics themselves, he understood just how sad this all was. Logan had written this. This was his experience falling in love with them. He supposed it made sense for Logan to be conflicted over it, though. It wasn't exactly your typical relationship. And with the added complication that Logan didn't understand emotions that well to begin with... Roman really couldn't blame him.
"But these thoughts are racing 'round my mind, Pulling me to darker times, Fear and hate and pain and love, Everything that I'm scared off."
There it was. The chorus. Slower than he remembered, but that was probably just because of all the practising. That was something that always confused Roman - the longer he worked on something, the longer he listened to something, the slower it seemed to be. The more he heard something, the easier to became to understand. Possibly because he grew used to it, so he knew what was coming. Or maybe it was just him.
"But then I see you standing there, I didn't think that it'd be fair, As you pull me closer and we'll see, That we were always meant to be."
Roman took the microphone out of the stand, and began to walk along the stage a little, heading closer to the front. He could do that, right? This was just the kind of song that got you pumped. Like you could run a marathon whilst listening to this. He couldn't help himself. He had done it in rehearsals, at least.
"Thoughts are racing 'round my mind, Pulling me to lighter times, And I realise that I can go, And love you us as the same, four, notes."
On those final three words of the chorus, the others joined in, Virgil singing at a lower harmony and Patton at a higher one. It seemed to work. The audience seemed to like it, at least. It also slowed down for the end of that last line, which Roman was thankful for. It slowed right down for the next couple of verses, as well. Kind of like how time seemed to slow down whenever he was in contact with those that he loved, and how his heart sped up whenever he gazed into their eyes.
"We seem to stick together, You think that we're forever, I still don't understand, How it all could be so grand."
Roman scanned the audience as he sang, making his way back to centre stage. He was trying to search for Logan in the crowd, but couldn't seem to find him. Maybe he was further to the back. That would make sense. However, the people on the first few rows were all smiling. They really seemed to like it. That made Roman's heart soar with happiness, and made him even more excited to be performing. It seemed to give him the energy that he so desperately needed.
"But I guess I have to know, Why these thoughts won't let me go, And I guess its plain to see, That I want you to stay with me."
There it was. The highest note, on that final word. Roman struggled to reach that high, but just about made it. At least for the rest he could go deeper. And slower. The next verse was way slower. And the others joined in, once again harmonising.
"To stay with me. To stay with you. To stay with us. To stay forever."
He took a deep breath, preparing himself for the next chorus. Which came sooner than he expected. He stumbled slightly over the first few words, but quickly recovered, getting back into the swing of the song.
"Thoughts are racing 'round my mind, Pulling me to lighter times, Fear and hate and pain and love, Everything that I'm scared off."
A few people in the audience were shouting out the lyrics with Roman. That just made him even more pumped. This was going perfectly. The audience already knew the song! Trust Logan to come up with something that catchy.
"But then I see you standing there, And I know it's only fair, That I learn I have to go, And love us as the same, four, notes."
The sudden change in the second chorus seemed to throw the few audience members that were singing off, but they quickly figured out what was going on, as more people tried to joined in to sing the final few words along with the three of them.
"'Cause we were separated, Before we learnt to love, And we have to stay like this, 'Cause we fit just like a glove."
The bridge section. It slowed down for this part, by a lot. It also seemed to become quieter, with only Virgil's playing Patton in an arpeggio, as Patton stood up and made his way closer to Roman, still holding his ukulele. He joined in for the next verse.
"We are puzzle pieces, That fit together perfectly, And we must stay like this, To show the picture beautifully."
Roman and Patton were sharing the microphone at that point, their bodies touching. They couldn't help but smile. This was their dream. Performing together, in front of a proper audience. Standing right next to each other. Except, now they could share that dream with two others. Logan, who had written these words, and was out there, somewhere in the audience, watching and, hopefully, smiling with them. And Virgil, who was stood at the keyboard behind them, and who joined in for the next verse.
"And we are lost components, For a machine that we can build, And if we come together like this, Then we can all be filled, With, Love."
Those final three words shared the same melody as the final three words of the chorus. In doing so, it had the same harmony. The same beautiful harmony, as these three boys came together as one. Maybe Logan was out there, singing as well. Roman hoped so.
The stage went dark for a moment, as everything stopped. A few people began clapping, before the lights came back and Virgil and Patton continued playing. The final chorus. They were almost done, and the audience were as excited as ever.
"'Cause these thoughts are racing 'round my mind, Pulling me to darker times, Fear and pain and hope and love, Everything that I'm proud of."
The lights were going crazy, shining every colour of the rainbow onto the stage. Roman tried to hold back laughter. He guessed that was Logan's way of subtly including the gay. It fit them perfectly, honestly.
"And then I see you standing there, I guess I know that it is fair, That when you pull me closer we, Know that we are meant to be."
Here it goes. The final chorus. The song was so close to a final. All three of the boys were singing, as well as some members of the audience. It was time for a big finish.
"Thoughts are racing 'round my mind, Pulling me to lighter times, And I know that we can go, And love us as the same, four, notes."
Roman finally spotted Logan in the crowd, and made eye contact, smiling as the lights around them dimmed. Everything had worked out fine. Everything was just as it was supposed to be.

How to become a better ukulele player
Naturally, people are drawn to the sound of music, and many may say that it can heal one’s soul. Thus, it's clear that select people are instinctively drawn to playing instruments and creating their own music. Whether you play the drums or a guitar, as a musician you will always ask yourself… how do I become better?
At guitars 4 U, they sell a range of colours and styles of guitars for any skill level. They also have a range of ukuleles for sale, for anyone who looking to start their musical journey. If you have decided to try to pick up a new hobby or if you are just stuck in a rut and looking for ways to improve your skills, you have come to the right place. here are some ways to become a better ukulele player.
 Practise schedules
We have all heard the saying practise makes perfect, but it is the truth! Through practising you immediately take a step in the right direction by developing your skill and knowledge. By setting away some time during your week to sit down and play some melodies will improve your skills tenfold. A great way to get into the groove of practising, is to watch some videos to get you inspired and help you along the way.
If you are wanting to get some guided practise sessions in, going to ukulele lessons would be most beneficial!
 Record yourself
Another way to see huge improvements in your ukulele skills is to record yourself playing. Listening back to yourself playing will give you a great indication of how you are progressing. Being honest with yourself and pick out where you need to improve is crucial to becoming a better ukulele player. Note, make sure you also give yourself the credit you need when you do amazing as well.
 Don’t look down
Once you have learnt basic strumming and your notes, try not looking at the fretboard. This technique will train your ear to recognise the notes and tremendously increase your skill as a ukulele player. It is not an easy skill to learn but feeling your way around the ukulele will give you a better understanding of the fretboard. Start with small sections and build your way up to whole melodies or songs.
 Make mistakes
A big point to take away from learning to play the ukulele is to make mistakes! You might think I'm crazy for encouraging you to fail, but as a musician, you will never become a better ukulele player by not making mistakes. They are the fundamental building blocks you must push through to better yourself. A lot of individuals are too afraid of making mistakes and therefore prohibit their progress. So don't be afraid to make any mistakes because they are actually just lessons in disguise.
Starting your music journey is no easy task but is extremely rewarding when you hit some milestones along the way. If you are wanting to get your ukulele journey started, head to Guitars 4 U as they have heaps of ukuleles for sale!

1-50 HAHAHHA srsly tho everything with 3
AWWW I FEEL SO BLESSED THIS IS THE FIRST ASK I HAVE RECEIVED ON THIS BLOG!!!
3. What color are your eyes? My eyes are very dark brown!
13. What are your favorite song lyrics right now? This is so hard but I’ll go with “I ride the subway, read the signs, I let the seasons change my mind, I’ve loved it here since I’ve stopped needing you”
23. Are you single? No I’m album omg this got me laughing for so long hahahaha… and honestly I dunno, I’m on a break with my (ex?) bf and the lines are very blurry :(
30. Random fact about yourself? I love English a lot and I read really fast! I skim a lot though and sucks coz I can’t retain a lot of information, but my advantage is reading fast means I can read a few more times anyways
31. Do you play any instruments? I can play the piano even though I stopped learning! (I was just playing Forever and Always today lol) I sing and I learnt like a few chords of ukulele! I want to learn guitar though
32. What are your bad habits? I have terrible time management... Also I’m a bit of a perfectionist, so either I’m super driven or really slacking :/
33. Do you smoke, drink or do any drugs? Nope! Except I like occasionally (rarely though) drinking apple cider because it’s like fizzy apple juice? But I’ve been shying away from it because alcohol messes up your sleep and my sleep is already messed up as is :P
34. Are you outgoing or shy? I think it depends, but I’m an extrovert. I can be a bit withdrawn though if I don’t really know what I’m doing in a new group of people. I try to reach out and get to know people so I won’t be alone :P
35. Do you have trust issues? I don’t exactly know what trust issues mean. I’m a rather trusting person and I try to see the good in people. But at the same time I don’t open up to a lot of people
36. Does talking about sex make you uncomfortable? Maybe? After I’ve gotten past the initial layer of awkwardness I think I’d be okay with it though
37. Where are you from? I’m from Hong Kong! Yes, there. Taylor has come here once and never again (RIP the Speak Now World Tour I missed because I wasn’t that into Tay yet and also I was too young, which meant my parents wouldn't have let me go anyways)
38. Where would you like to travel? The US! I’ve never been before and I’d love to go. Especially WDW and Disneyland. Nashville too. I legit have a bucket list with a long list of places to go!
39. Have you ever been arrested? Nope!
43. Do you believe in luck and miracles? Well... I’m a Christian so I’m not supposed to believe in luck but I say good luck to people anyways. I believe in miracles, that God looks after us in His own way, even when all we see is our suffering. “Don’t you worry, don’t you worry child, see heaven’s got a plan for you” is such a lovely line.
Thank you Kriz for all the questions!

Personalised Imagine #3 - Newt Scamander
Soooo here’s another personalised imagine. This one is for @omgunicornsarebae. I am so so sorry about how long this took to write. Thank you so much for requesting it and I hope you enjoy it.
Tumblr media
If Newt had a sickle for every time his pesky niffler got him into trouble, he swore he’d be rich by now. The troublesome creature had gotten away after seeing a particularly shiny coin roll into an alley. Not just any alley. Knockturn Alley. Newt, of course, had to run after him despite all of his senses yelling at him not to go into the infamously dangerous street. He knew that if he wasn’t there to stop the beast, he would undoubtedly get himself into trouble.
Newt sprinted down the alley after the niffler, wand and case in hand and coat flapping behind him. He finally cornered the bothersome creature at the end of an alley.
“You have nowhere to go now, so just come here.” Newt said, calmly while inching closer. “You’ve got what you wanted, now go back into the case and I can fix this cursed lock so this won’t happen again.” The creature, unsurprisingly, refused to come. Newt huffed silently to himself while he crouched low so as not to look menacing and maintaining eye contact with the animal. The niffler, quite uniquely, responded quite well with constant eye contact. Newt prayed silently that the creature stayed as still as he was now, looking right at Newt and panting heavily.
Suddenly, a loud crash sounded from somewhere and the niffler took off again. Newt pursed his lips and dashed off after him. After a while of turning around steep corners and avoiding the grasping hands of shifty-looking strangers, Newt saw the niffler run into a dark shop. Stopping right before the entrance, Newt wondered whether this was a good idea. Which it most likely wasn’t, but he wasn’t going to leave one of his beasts in this godforsaken place to be sold for parts.
Taking a deep breath, he entered into the shop, finding it empty. There wasn’t even a counter for a cashier to stand behind, it was simply filled with mysterious looking artefacts. Perhaps this was some sort of galley? Trying to contain his curiosity, Newt kept his steps light on the creaky floorboards as his eyes searched the place. His gaze finally landed on the familiar glossy fur of the niffler. He was trying to lift something particularly shiny.
His shoulders slouching in relief, Newt walked over to the distracted creature. He picked him up from behind and pulled him away from the desired treasure, placing him back into the case after a strict reprimanding. Standing back up again, he took a closer look at what had attracted the niffler’s attention out of so many other options. It was a hand mirror.
As he looked at it more carefully, Newt noticed that it wasn’t particularly shiny, that it was just the reflection against the glass that made it seem so at first. It had quite a plain, wooden frame around the circular glass. He pondered over why it had caught the greedy little beast’s eye. Surely there were other, more jewel studded objects in the room. Newt went to hold the object, but the second he touched it a burning sensation covered his hand, making him yelp in pain. The feeling spread over his entire body, making him crumple to the ground.
Suddenly, the burning disappeared. Releasing a shaky breath, Newt rose with shaky hands. Only to find himself not in the same room as before. He was in a small room with dull blue stalls and strange half cup looking things attached to the walls which were all white. All of Newt’s instincts sharpened as he steadied his wildly beating heart. Has he been kidnapped perhaps? Wherever he was being held, he could get out, he would get out. Newt walked tentatively to the only door in the room, finding it to be open. Slowly creeping it open, he peeked his head out.
He was greeted with the sound of talking and laughter, mixed with the aroma of warm food and drinks. Frowning in confusion, he stepped out slowly, walking towards the sounds. He entered into a large room, filled with people sitting at tables or standing and talking. Some wearing witch and wizard fashion and some wearing what he could only assume was muggle fashion, though he had never seen any muggles wearing what the ones here wore.
No one seemed to take much notice of Newt as he wandered over to an empty table near the back. Everyone seemed to be waiting for something. Newt guessed that the mirror he had touched was some portkey that transported him here. Not that he knew where ‘here’ was. A loud voice suddenly called for silence and the chatter slowly dwindled.
There was an air of excitement as a large, round man behind the bar introduced someone called Y/N. Newt watched intently as you walked into the room, a loud cheer accompanying your entrance. Newt’s had to admit, you were quite attractive. He watched curiously as you climbed to stand on the bar, ukulele in hand and short, bright pink hair shining.
“Ladies and gentlemen! Witches and Wizards! I welcome you all to Harry Potter night!” You exclaimed, eyes sparkling with excitement behind your glasses. A cheer went through everyone in the bar. Newt furrowed his brows confusedly. Who was Harry Potter? “And as every night, we’ll start with a song. Tonight, the song will not be by me.” A series of boos echoed from the crowd. “Oh quiet down, it’s by Jon Cozart and I think you all know it.” You said, wiggling your eyebrows at the crowd. You strummed the first few notes on your ukulele and then the whole bar filled with song. Everyone knew it apparently.
“There once was a boy named Harry
destined to be a star.
His parents were killed by Voldemort,
who gave him a lightning scar…”
The song continued to describe someone named Harry Potter’s life with people called Ron, Hermione, Tom Riddle, Edward Cullen. Dumbledore was also mentioned, leading Newt to believe that perhaps this was a historic song, and if so, why hadn’t he learnt about it in Hogwarts?
For the rest of the night, Newt continued to sit at the back as he watched extraordinary moving pictures, listened to dramatic readings of books, watched as people took part in something called a ‘trivia night’. All these things seemed to be centred around this Harry Potter person. Newt assumed that this was some fictional tale as there was no way he could have not known about this if it was historically true.
Throughout all this, his attention seemed to be drawn to you. He found himself enjoying watching you interact with everyone, a smile constantly on your face. Everyone seemed to brighten when they talked to you, you seemed to be quite outgoing, funny and, quite frankly, adorable.
Newt couldn’t help but smile as he saw how much energy was in such a small body. You were a ball of brightness with your short, pink hair, shining eyes and the ability to make people laugh, if not through your words then through the many silly faces you tended to pull. He still had no idea where he was but Newt felt safe and calm in this space, even though he made no move to interact with anyone. The place seemed to have a welcoming aura.
After a few hours, people started to leave until it was just you, Newt, the bartender and a few other people scattered around at the tables. He suddenly felt his case shake and one of the locks snapped open.
“Oh no you don’t.” Newt muttered as he rested the case on his lap and closed the latch. When he looked back up you were standing before him.
“Wow,  you have a brilliant costume! You know, I told them to put on the Fantastic Beasts movie but there wasn’t enough time in the end.” You said, shaking your head. Newt frowned in confusion, opening his mouth to ask what you meant. “May I sit here?” You asked, gesturing to the seat across from him.
“Ah, yes, of course.” He said while looking down at the table. You slid into the seat and leaned forward, pushing your glasses up.
“Hi, I’m Y/N.” You said, sticking your hand out. Avoiding your gaze, he reached your hand and shook it.
“Newt Scamander.” He said. A smile grew on your face.
“Right, Newt.” You said, winking at him. Newt was unsure of why his name amused you so much. He decided to brush it off.
“Miss, what is this place?” Newt asked, looking right at you now. You cocked your head slightly.
“You don’t know?” You asked. Newt shook his head. “This is The Snuggly Duckling Bar. Yes, they named it after that bar from Tangled.” You said, rolling your eyes and shaking your head. “It’s a fandom bar. Well, I’m sure you could tell. What other bar shows Harry Potter movies, right?” You joked, smiling widely at him. He nodded, pretending to understand. Honestly, he was even more perplexed now. He was pretty sure everyone in the bar were wizards or at least had some knowledge or affiliation with the wizarding world. How else would everyone know about hogwarts, wands, specific spells, etc?
“Yes, well, could you please direct me to Knockturn Alley? Or preferably Diagon Alley?” He asked, making you laugh.
“I’ve never met a cosplayer so into their character. Do you even have some ‘fantastic beasts’ in there?” You said, putting air quotes around ‘fantastic beasts’ and pointing at his case. So many questions swarmed in his head. Where was he? How did you know about his beasts? Why weren’t you taking him seriously?
“I’m sorry, I think I’m lost.” He asked. You pushed your glasses up your nose, a habit you found yourself doing quite frequently.
“You don’t look lost, but if you say you are…” You said, shrugging. “I could help.” Newt looked up at you for a moment, smiling gratefully.
“Thank you. You, see, I’m not entirely sure where I am. My-ah-pet, got away and ran into Knockturn Alley-“ Newt began, not wanting to say outright that he had a niffler, he feared you’d ask how he’d come across one or if he had any other creatures that were technivally illegal to possess. “-he ran into a shop or a gallery of some kind and after getting him back, I touched one of the objects on display. It may have been a portkey of some kind as I found myself here a moment later.”
“Wow, that is quite a story.” You said. Newt nodded, blushing slightly. He couldn’t help but feel flustered as you watched him curiously.  “Are you really lost?”
“I’m afraid so.” He said. “If you are unsure of the direction of Diagon Alley, may you point me to your nearest lodging?” He asked. You shook your head, making your pink hair bounce around. The corners of Newt’s lips quirked up slightly at the sight.
“Oh no, you’re not staying in any motel. They’re all crap here.” You said, taking a deep breath. “Against my better judgement, you can stay with me for the night. Or until we figure out how to get you back home.” Newt was hesitant at the thought of staying at a stranger’s home, but he was in no place to reject kindness. He was a skilled wizard so if it turned out you were against him, he was confident enough in his abilities that he could get out of the situation. Although he doubted you meant him harm. Where else would he go? It would only be for a night and then he’d be off. Newt gave you a wide smile.
“I would really appreciate that, thank you.” He said, looking at you in the eyes.
“You’re not a murderer, are you?” You asked, narrowing your eyes at him.
“Ah- no, I’m afraid I’m not.” He said, smiling amusedly at you. You nodded.
“Just in case you get any funny ideas, I’m sleeping with the door locked and a knife under my pillow.” You said, pointing a warning finger at him.
“I’ll remember that.” He said. “Thank you so much for doing this for me.”
“Well, I can’t exactly say no to you when you’re looking so much like Newt Scamander.” You said. Newt was unsure of what you meant but decided not to comment on it. You were, after all, doing him a great favour. “Right, do you want to go now?” You asked. Newt simply nodded as he stood up. You now had to crane your head to look up at him. “Why is everyone always taller than me.” You mumbled under your breath as you walked through the bar. Newt laughed at your comment.

Like a worldview – interview with Plini
Like a worldview – interview with Plini - http://metalindex.hu/2018/08/23/like-a-worldview-interview-with-plini/ -
It’s not your first time to play in Budapest. How do you like the city and the venue?
From purely music prospective, the crowd is always amazing. The first time we can with Animals [as Leaders], the crowd was insane. The venue is beautiful, and we came back, and it was just as beautiful, and now we’re back again and it’s still beautiful.
Do you like the architecture of Budapest? Have you had any chance to take a look at here?
Yes, we are only here about a day, but always trying to walk around. Like this morning, we went across the green bridge [Szabadság-híd] into the town a little bit, and the drummer [Chris Allison] playing with me tonight…it is his first time here, so I was walking with him and just see his reaction to it. It was funny because he was just like…’holy fuck, this is beautiful’. Yes, it is an incredible city.
How you started to have any kind of connection or relationship to music? What was the start?
When I was growing up, I guess when I was 5 or 6 years old, my family was to listen to The Beatles and Led Zeppelin, Michael Jackson and like that, and I just started to tap along, and then eventually that turned into me wanting to play drums. And then I finally started playing drums, but it’s too loud because we lived in an apartment, so I played ukulele for a little bit until it broke. And then I got a guitar to replace the broken ukulele, in that kind of set this whole thing off.
Have you ever learnt playing guitar, or just managed to grab it, and started to play?
Yes, I just picked it up. I tried learning some scales, but I found it really boring. So I just started to learn songs by bands I like, and then techniques from guitarist I like.
What do you think, in the life of a guitarists or a guitar player, how important the role of the talent, and how important the amount of practicing is?
I think talent doesn’t necessarily matter because I know a lot of guitarist, and I know that they all have different talents, like some people are just naturally really good at playing fast or really good at learning music, and others are terrible at playing fast but they play really expressively. I guess the most important thing is to figure out what you’re naturally good at, and then work on that, because you can become more unique and expressive in that skills.
You told that drums were quite loud, and you told a bit about the broken ukulele, and later on you ended up with guitar, but why guitar was the next one, why not say piano or something like that?
I’m not sure. I can’t exactly remember, but it might be that I started getting into metal music around that time and so I was getting interested in the stuff that metal bands are doing. I guess the most interesting part to me if not the drums is all the riffs.
Where your inspiration is coming from? I know about cheese, but what else is inspiring you?
Totally stuff like this [around me]. Traveling around, getting to see different places in the world, getting to meet different people and starting to think about writing music. Sort of the same way as people who write books. The only way that they get continued inspiration is by doing things and meeting people, so they have stories to play with and I think the same with music.
I had the impression that touring all over the globe is quite a tiring job and most of the musician are simply trying to survive it without getting inspired.
I guess it can be but I never was in a band until I started doing this. So I’m sort of invented my own idea what touring should be, I think it should be totally fun, surrounded by friends and that’s not tiring. We try to sleep as much as possible, walk around and eat.
How are you writing music? You are the only person who is responsible for everything, or you can get inspirational or input from the other band members?
Usually I recorded demos, so that includes some bad bass playing and programmed drums and then send it to them and see what they think. Hopefully they like it and then from there, we can work on it together and they write their own parts to be more interesting.
In your mind or in your practice, writing the music or writing the song is a step-by-step work or it’s quite a spontaneous one?
It’s a bit of both. There are parts of it that are quite logical, like arranging a song or layering different instruments, but a lot of the time it’s random sparks of inspiration that make the song that I end up finishing and releasing.
Your main occupation is to play in a band, manage this band and do studio works, tours, whatever else. Do you have any time remaining over that?
Not really. Even today we were driving from Bratislava which was about two and a half hours, and I spent most of that time messaging somebody that I’m hoping to collaborate with next year, so just talk about how we can make it work, and when he’s free and started getting the logistics of that. It’s a kind of…like a non-stop [job], just planning ahead and head and ahead. But then I guess I have free time like when we got here, we walked around for two-three hours, so it feels quite balanced.
If I’m right, in the past you used to use Primetone pics, and I think playing fast music you need a sharp one.
I started using the same pick that Jakub Zytecki using which is the [Jim Dunlop] Jazz III, I’m not sure exactly which one it is, but it has a grip on it, that’s not like the standard one. I found that just the slightly thinner pick is a little easier for the fastest stuff.
I just read in one of your interviews that your opinion was to have very little change with the instruments, with the guitars, but nowadays we have many-many virtuoso guitar player, so what’s the reason behind if not the instrument?
I guess I’m not actually that interested in the guitar. I mean have one what I really like, it is enough for me because I want to make music not make guitar noises I guess.
How important part of your music is based on improvisation?
In the beginning I guess it all comes from improvisation because I start up just playing whatever happens, but then there’s quite a large amount of work between the original thing that I play and the final product.
Vast majority of your songs are more or less continuous or ‘endless’ solos. How easy is to learn them, to remember them?
It’s getting easier and easier I guess. I have decent muscle memory so if it comes to playing a song that we haven’t played for a year or two, usually it comes back quite fast, and I think it helps that I played it in the first place.
Do you need any kind of warm-up before starting a gig?
If the temperature is cold then definitely. But I find the best warm-up for me is just being relaxed and in a good mood because none of the music is too difficult and I’m not too worried about making mistakes. Usually if I make a horrible mistake I find it funny, and people in the crowd will find it funny rather than…I don’t think it will ruin the song, unless I were ruin three whole minutes of the song but that hasn’t happened or that maybe happened once. So the best warm-up is just getting into it, kind a good friend of mine, I can just go and have fun.
How many time do you have for your family, how they can tolerate this lifestyle?
I guess they are very supportive and excited for me. And it works out that I’m maybe home half of the year or maybe a little less than half of the year, which is still quite a lot. I mean I live with my family so I see them more than a lot of people would see their families anyway.
What was your impression on the Brutal Assault two years ago, and now?
The first one that was by far the biggest show that I ever played in my life and then to have such a positive crowd response was amazing. This time, I kind of had high expectations as because I’ve done it before, I knew that everything’s great, the catering is great, the production and all the crew are really nice, but then isn’t exceeded my expectations this time. It’s an amazing festival.
I have seen the half-moon on your guitar tabulatures, on the CD’s and also on your guitar. Does it have any kind of specific meaning for you?
Not that I remember. I think the artist who did my first EP just put one on there on a whim and then I really liked it so it ended up being on the next album artwork, and then just became a sort of logo. I guess in a loose way I like space and planets, but nothing specific about that.
Your guitar tabs are available in different kinds of shops. Are you writing them on your own? How they were created?
That is a guy that works for Sheet Happens who published them all. I send all the individual parts to him and he transcribes and then sends to me and I make sure it’s all correct. It’s kinda crazy how good he is, like he knows which fret it will be in on which string even it’s the same note. He can usually get to that 95% right straight away, and then I make the changes, and that’s it. Sometimes he transcribe in a way that’s easier to play than the way I originally played it and I end up learning that.
You are running your own band from Sydney from Australia but you are also involved in Intervals from Canada. Where the relationship has been coming from?
I guess from the internet. We are both people who play guitar and write music and sort of in a similar way. We got to know each other just because of that like ‘hey man, your project is cool’, and then started chatting eventually Matt, and got along really well as people as well, and that’s how I kind of just crossed over.
Is it possible to make any kind of practicing together because you are living on the opposite side of the globe?
Before we did those couple of tours, we would get together for a day or two before the tour started, but I guess because the quality of the musicians we play with is just so good, that everyone learns their parts, and we just come together and everyone kind of logs in quite quickly.
So you don’t really need long practicing sessions or to train together.
No, I mean in an ideal world, we probably would have a week or something but usually the first show will be pretty good, the second shall be good and then from there it’s hopefully really good.
If I’m right then you are doing different kind of workshops during tours, but what about teaching?
Teaching…it’s something that I like doing…I’ve never done much regular teaching so having a student that I see every week or anything like that. When I’m on tour I really like meeting people who were working on similar things or interested in what I’m doing…it’s a fun thing to do.
Are you doing workshop now here in Budapest, or not at the moment?
No, this is the first tour in a while when I haven’t done anything and I actually really like, because I have more free time. So right now I would normally be doing a lesson and then going to be rushing to have dinner and play the show. It’s nice to have a little bit extra time.
What the music does mean for you?
That’s a big question! I don’t know…I guess it’s the one thing that I enjoy everything about. Like if I go to a restaurant, I’ll be listening too what’s happening in the music, or I’m going to go to a concert or I’m thinking about like how can I make this river into a song, or something like that. Just a kind of like a worldview.

Polynesian Dance
From learning Polynesian dance in week 2 we learnt 2 different styles from this category which are Tahitian and Hawaiian dance. Our teacher was Waiana Tagata and her husband, Fati, helped us at our second lesson of Hula. I found these styles very interesting to learn as they are so different from the usual dance forms I study. The biggest challenge I found with Ori Tahiti, which is Tahitian dance, was the use of the hip in almost all movements. Some of these hip movements were called Toma (sharp side to side motions), Fa’arapu (circles with the hips), Afata (pushing the hips to make a box shape) and Varu (making figure 8 with hips). Each of these movements required the hips to move in certain directions and ways. To add complexity to these movements they are done at quite a moderately fast pace, especially Fa’arapu. To make it easier for us to learn though we started learning the movements very slowly then we would pick the pace up once we sort of understood how to move. I also found that my hips and arms would get sore after doing the movements for a long time which makes me think of how much strength is actually required for Tahitian dance. The dances we learnt were basic Drum dances called Tamure Tamure and Ukulele. These dances could be performed by both male and female or separately.
When looking into Hula, known as Hawaiian dance, it seems very similar to Tahitian but once broken down it is defiantly different in quite a few ways. There are two types of styles in Hula dance which are Hula Kahiko (Ancient style) and Hula Auana (Modern style), which is the style that we learnt. I found Hula a lot easier than Tahitian because there wasn’t as much hip action. However, there was more complexity with the different types of steps to do. These steps were Kalakaua (forward lunge to side), Holo (step right and left), Ka’o (sway motion), Ami (circle with hips), Ku’i (stomp right foot and kick left up) and Oniu (making figure 8 with hips). Remembering all these steps was quite hard when putting them together just because some of the movements were quite complex especially when the arms are added in. There was a story with our dance that we did which made it a bit more easier to remember but I didn’t understand the lyrics it was only when Fati translated the lyrics for us to understand. The song was called Noho Paipai and could be performed by male and female or separately. When Waiana and Fati performed it together for us it was really fun to watch them do it as a duo and it seemed even fun for them to perform as well together.
Overall I had alot of fun learning and dancing the Polynesian Dance styles and respect how much hard work the culture puts into their performances and dances.

Interview with singer Ella Taylor from the band Knob Socket
This is the transcript of my interview with Ella Taylor!
Me: So to begin with can you explain you're genre/music in 3 words?
Ella: I have no idea what you'd call the genre of our music  it's such a funny mix haha, maybe alt. Rock?
Me: Yeah you guys are pretty unique aren’t you? But at the same time it works so well and is so good! What about inspirations? Who and what are your inspirations?
Ella: I think Stevie Nicks/Debbie Harry are probably my biggest inspirations cause they're both super cool and strong. Oh and they’re immensely talented women too haha
Me: I agree with you there. Fleetwood Mac are one of my favourite bands. I fyou have any original songs, what is them meanings behind them?
Ella: We only have one original that we have as a band and it’s about awkward teen relationships haha
Me: Did you write the lyrics?
Ella: Yeah, I wrote the lyrics for it, but used some words from a text conversation with one of my friends haha
Me: Haha, friends are so useful. Do you have a dream? Or a goal?
Ella: I think my dream would be to experience singing with a big band, like Jools Holland's because it’s so iconic. I think one of my goals is to find a singing job that will take me travelling, or a job abroad. Like, singing on a cruise ship, or singing at a hotel bar somewhere hot with lots of cocktails haha
Me: Haha, that really would be the life. So when did you start the band and who started it?
Ella: We started the band last year. The boys [Sam, Callum and Alistair, other members of the band] were already together in a different band, but I asked them if I could sing for them or with them and they agreed so here we are haha
Me: How did you guys meet then and how did the name come about?
Ella: We met in college and came up with the name when one was needed for a poster at one of the gigs your [my tech class organised a gig] group put on. Callum was looking around the room for inspiration, saw a knob on his guitar, a socket on the wall and Knob Socket was born haha. It was just a joke at first, but we couldn't come up with anything better, so it's stuck.
Me: It’s such a simple thought process but such a cool name. So how many instruments can you all play? What was the first one you personally learnt?
Ella: Sam, Callum & Alistair all play guitar, bass and drums. Oh and ukulele! So I would say 4 each, but they might play more than that. If you're counting vocals, 5. I mostly just sing and play cello. I know enough guitar, bass and drums to play a few simple songs, but I'm not "fluent" in any way. I think once you learn one instrument it gets much easier to pick up others, so it's hard to count really.
Me: Can you describe your first live performance and how you felt?
Ella: I think my first live solo performance was at church. I was about 7/8 years old and absolutely petrified, but it was so nice to hear how my tiny little voice echoed around the massive church. It was quite a humbling feeling I suppose
Me: Yeah I know how you feel, i’ve sang in a church before. What do you think you’d be doing if you weren’t doing music?
Ella: I’m real creative so If I wasn't doing music I'd probably be doing an art foundation course
Me: That’d be really cool. I love art too. So, if you could ask any musician to join your band who would it be?
Ella: Oh my god, maybe Guy Garvey from Elbow. His voice and songs feel like they stroke my soul a little bit haha
Me: He does have some insane vocals. What’s your favourite original to play live?
Ella: So we play one written as a band effort and one that just Callum wrote and I prefer the band one, because it's a bit more lively and gets the crowd going.
Me: How about favourite cover to play live?
Ella: I think my favourite cover at the moment is probably Float On by Modest Mouse or Al Green's Let's Stay Together, but it changes as we learn new songs and get bored of others hahaha
Me: Nice choices. Finally, how do you chose the covers?
Ella: Oh gosh that's such a stressful process haha. Usually me or Sam just keep suggesting more and more songs until Alistair and Callum agree to them. Or sometimes if we're listening to music together and we're all enjoying it we'll decide to try playing it together. A couple of the covers we do are songs that we were asked to learn for a wedding.
Me: Haha that does sound stressful. Especially finding songs that you all like and agree too. Thank you for answering these questions for me!
Ella: It was my pleasure

Final Draft Personal Statement
I like to immerse myself in the design and crafting aspect of art when I have spare time. This led me to pick art for GCSEs. In History GCSEs, I learned of war artists, who visually recorded many major events in time through their paintings. This experience gave me the idea that I can use my art work to inspire others and even positively impact society through my work. After choosing Studio Art & Design in college I focused on developmental work towards a final outcome. I learned how to use a camera and use a photography booth. Working with sand and jelly for my exam outcome taught me how to artistically portray an issue using any material I could think of. My art classes taught me to make use of my surroundings and think flexibly as well as to be confident in what I liked.
In College I did product design where we studied ergonomics and designed solar-powered machines. I learned how to use a 3D printer, aside from a sand belt machine and an electric screwdriver. I really liked the idea of designing for a target customer. Meanwhile, I learned Graphics through the use of Photoshop and InDesign. We designed illustrations, magazines, logos and branding. I decided that I wanted to have a career in design that encompassed everything I learnt in my life so I did an Art Foundation Course where I gained skills that used mediums such as printmaking, etching and drawing from pencil to charcoal in life-drawing enrichment classes. I learned how to think critically during group discussions and being productive from experimenting nonstop for a final outcome. We learnt about Poul Gernes who is one of my favourite artists because he wanted to create things to prove how useful art can be in society. The Herlev hospital is my favourite example of his efforts. He used art to positively impact people's lives. This was when I decided that I would pursue a career in design. I accumulated a portfolio that includes work from my own personal creation, group projects, issue-based installations, outcomes, work inspired by artists and information from research. By creating visual journals in Foundation Art I got to practice my research and recording skills.
For my work experience placement, I was stationed at a primary school in Whitechapel. I interacted with children from nursery to year 3. Afterwards I took up a few babysitting jobs. This experience gave me the social skills in interacting with children, parents and teachers but also time management, confidence and communication skills.
I feel accomplished after accurately drawing a portrait of someone. I like being able to see the beauty in everything and photographing it. Watching nature documentaries and going on excursions is my hobby. I challenge myself to be inspired by anything and analyse its' meaning. I am learning to be efficient in the discipline of music and to turn every experience into something that I can apply in my design work. I quickly become curious once I am interested and I'm a perfectionist in this aspect because I won't stop immersing myself until I know the details and have found a way to apply it in my work or personal life; like my new pastime of being self-taught in playing the ukulele so I can enjoy performing any song professionally. Aside from being a designer, my developed communication and analytical skills let me consider doing art therapy, so I can share to people how fun and educational art is.
Most of all I want to inspire just as I have been inspired. Just as Foundation Art taught me to apply everything I learnt, I strongly believe that studying here will teach me how to hone my skills and develop myself further as a designer.

interview: janet devlin
You auditioned for X-Factor UK at the age of 16. How crazy has your life been since that audition?
My life has never been the same. I’ve been constantly on the go ever since that day, which has been absolutely amazing! Ever since then I’ve never lived back in Ireland, I ended up moving to London so I could be near to all my teams. So it’s been a totally new life for me in all honesty! I’m fortunate enough to write, record and tour my music so it’s pretty crazy but in the most fantastic of ways.
What made you pick “Your Song” by Elton John as your audition song?
I’d been running my own YouTube channel from the age of 16 and this was one of the videos I had uploaded there. My mother had informed me that X factor had started excepting video auditions and said it could be worth a shot as there was nothing loose. I decided that I’d send in the video with the most views so that’s how I ended up doing it.
What was it like having Kelly Rowland as your mentor?
It was amazing! She’s a pretty inspiring person, with so much experience within the industry. It was great to get some tips and tricks from a veteran like her. She also helped with with a few personal problems. Like when my grandfather passed away she was very comforting and kind. All in all it was a great experience to receive!
Who are some of your major inspirations?
As I write about my life and my own personal experiences, my songs are inspired by the people I know. So anyone who is involved in my life tends to have a song or two written about them. As a kid my parents listened to a lot of country music so I took a lot of inspiration for the story telling aspect of that genre. As a teen I listened to a lot of bands like My Chemical  romance, Foo fighters and the red hot chili peppers. They inspired me to make music my air and my catalyst for existence.
What was your reaction once your debut album, Running With Scissors was finished?
My initial reaction was relief because it had been quite a long time in the making! I had made an album that I ended up scrapping, so I only had 6 weeks to record “Running With Scissors” which was a very intense experience. It was a bag of mixed emotions really. I was excited for people to finally hear my first album but also terrified to hear their reactions. As the response was so overwhelmingly positive, my fears were put to rest really quickly!
Do you have a favorite track off that album?
My favourite track from the record would have to be “Whisky Lullabies”. It’s probably the most open and honest song on the album. I never thought anyone would hear it but I’m so glad they have and that I had the opportunity to share another part of myself with everyone.
How’s touring been?
Touring has been amazing! I’ve just got back from a few shows in Norway, which were warm up shows for the “My Opium” Tour. I still find the whole experience rather daunting as I still get extremely nervous before preforming, I feel a certain amount of pressure to live up to people’s expectations. As soon as I get on stage and get a few songs in, the nerves tend to quiet down and I can enjoy just playing my music to people. I like to push myself as a person and preforming live is a great way to do that for me.
What are some of your favorite places that you’ve visited since you’ve been on tour?
Last year I ventured out to the east coast of America for a tour. New York is my favourite city on earth so I must admit it’s my favourite place to play. It is nice to see more of Europe though, so my recent trip to Norway was amazing as it’s just such a beautiful country!
I noticed you have an online concert coming up. Is this your first time doing something like that? What brought this idea up?
I’ve been doing online shows now for around 3 years now. It was suggested to me from a member of my team as a way to play shows to people who either live too far away or cannot make it to a show on tour. It’s been great though, it’s a lovely community of people who are so kind, loving and supportive.  I do two of these shows a month now as they’ve proved really successful and also they’re really fun for me!
How long have you been playing the ukulele and what type of ukulele do you play?
I wouldn’t say by any means that I am a “Ukulele player”! I use it more for a writing tool as it’s a nice simple instrument. But I’ve been writing songs with one now for around 2 years. I currently play a Luna concert Ukulele. Which is awesome because I can DI it and play it live.
You’re working on some new material for your upcoming album Holy Water. Could you share any details surrounding the album?
Holy Water is a conceptual record focusing on the idea of should cleansing. That to be fully reconciled for your sins you must admit them to yourself and to another human being. So by me writing the songs I am admitting them to myself and by releasing them, confessing them to another.
What do you hope your fans will take away from Holy Water?  How about your new holiday EP Little Lights?
The importance of honesty. Only now have I learnt that by being as honest as possible life can be made so much simpler. Even though the truth hurts, it’s the best way to live your life. As for little lights I’m hoping people will feel more inclined to celebrate the holiday season. Also that there is more to the season than just tinsel and fairy lights, that we go through so many emotions around this time of year.
How much fun did you have filming the “Outernet Song” music video?
Too much fun! It was such an awesome day of laughing and goofing around! I had perviously worked with the film crew before so it felt like hanging to with friends. It was important that everyone in the room was energetic as to keep myself motivated throughout the long day. Everyone involved were true pros and just so hilarious that it made the filming such a fun and enjoyable experience!
If you could work with any artist - who would it be and why?
I would love to write with Keaton Henson! I just find his honesty and venerability astonishing. He’s also the king of sad songs so I think we could write a good song together aha!
Are there any artists/albums that you’ve been listening to recently that you feel the readers of Tongue Tied Magazine should check out?
As aforementioned - Keaton Henson is definitely worth checking out as his work is just fantastically heart breaking and beautiful! I would also recommend listening to Tei Shi. Also Bon Iver’s latest album is just a masterpiece!
Finally, our signature Tongue Tied Magazine question - how would you describe your music to a deaf person?
Probably with adjectives.
