asked stan for advice while asking you out, though stan's advice was something along the lines of "good luck bud" since the chances are, kyle already knows what he needs to do - he just needs to gain the courage to actually do it. i feel like he'd ask you to study over at his house and then would attempt to make a move on you, while you guys are taking a break he'll throw his arm around you. i definitely think he'll be a bit stiff at first, but once you lean into him, he starts to relax.

for dates, i feel like he'd definitely be into studying with you, but i don't think he'd consider that a date - more like you're just motivation for him to keep going and vise versa. so i think realistically he'd take you on a date anywhere you wanted to go! i definitely think he's not a fan of movie dates though, since he wants to be watching and talking to you, not a movie. he would also totally take you to casabonita, and would specifically make sure cartman isn't there on the reservation sheet just so nobody could get in your guys way. he'd take you all over the resturant, showing you the little arcade area, (he is definitely going to try and show off his basketball skills on that one basketball game).

kyle is definitely a lot more possessive than i would've initially thought. i feel like he (unintentionally) probably is very territorial with you. if a guy hits on you i feel like he'll definitely come over and throw his arm around you, you know making casual small talk, but his face would be pretty red from anger so needless to say the other guy probably would take the hint. i also think he'd probably express his anger later in the night by 'marking' you (with hickies), again very territorial.

big spoon. i repeat. big spoon. aside from that though, he wants to softly kiss your face and your neck, his arms around your hips and facing you. he wants to worship you! of course, when he's upset or doesn't have the energy to be the big spoon he'd ask if you could do it for sure. i feel like he also loves little gentle kisses across his face. i can definitely imagine him loving the lipstick trend. he also probably loves it if you play with his hair (just as long as you don't mess it up too much).

once he recognized how he felt about you, i feel like he was probably nervous but straightforward. i get the impression kenny wouldn't want to beat around the bush or make you uncomfortable if you didn't know the way he was thinking about you. i think he'd probably pick some flowers for you, and get some advice from karen as to what he should say to make it seem like he really cares and isn't just flirting with you for fun.

he'll definitely do his best to work as hard as possible, taking overtime hours to treat you. he wants to take you out to a nice dinner, candlelit with spaghetti - all the works. however, upon realizing he doesn't have enough money to treat you out somewhere expensive - he goes ahead and asks his sister for advice. they both decide they'll work on making a nice homemade spaghetti, and karen will dress up as a fancy waiter to serve you. it'll be candle lit (mostly so you can't see how his house is in ruins) and they'll both do their best to make it a magical first date as you deserve !!!

kenny definitely gets jealous, especially knowing how guys are (from experience of course (he's the type of guy he'd be wary of)). he's definitely the type to throw his arm around you whenever some man is flirting with you, and he'll probably go as far to borderline make out with you in front of him if he isn't taking the hint. though he definitely wouldn't do all of this if you weren't into it, i think he just likes to make a bit of a show out of the guy who's hitting on you.

definitely prefers to be the larger spoon when spooning, but i think his favorite way of cuddling his probably putting his head on your chest, and his arms around your waist. his spooning style reminds me of that one clip of the guy saying "titty in hand, dick hard on the butt ..." or smth like that - could also totally see him trying to make a tiktok with you using that clip (regardless of gender) ;)

definitely calls you sickeningly sweet pet names as a joke to tease you, like "how's my cutie pie buttercup doing today?" with a cheeky smirk as you probably look back at him in annoyance since you guys are in public. i think he probably says it so much that it slowly becomes unironic and he seriously starts calling you that.

he definitely asked kenny for help and advice. i feel like kenny would probably tell butters to just go for it! kenny would definitely help him pick out a nice outfit for when he asks you out, meanwhile butters is getting you a huge bouquet of flowers and some chocolates for you. he'd probably mention in there that he didn't want to go too crazy with everything but he really does want to give you the world. i also feel like cartman would probably get wind of this and tell butters to do a public confession, because cartman thinks you don't like butters. but the look on cartmans face when you tell butters you'd love to go out with him... priceless. but so is butters! he'd run up to you and give you a huge hug and tell you that he'll pick you up at 7 at your house.

i feel like butters would probably want to do a picnic date. he definitely came prepared with tons of food and all different types since he doesn't know which is your favorite. he'll stay with you and eventually walk you home - but he ended up not getting home fast enough and got grounded. in return you'd end up taking him to a hello kitty café! though only after his grounding. i can definitely imagine you and him doing super secret facetime dates when he's grounded where you guys play videogames or like a board game on call. he'd love it if you snuck in while he was grounded, but he's SO nervous about getting caught or having his parents be on bad terms with you so it definitely wouldn't be all the time.

i feel like if someone tried to hit on you he wouldn't really know what to do, but he also has enough trust in you to be able to handle them yourself. it's not that he doesn't care, but more like he doesn't want to make you uncomfortable by stepping in if you can handle it ! though if it ever got too far and you looked like you couldn't, he'd probably put on his big boy pants and tell the guy to get outta there !!

i get the impression he would want to be on the same level as you. i think he'd want to be able to look you in the eyes while cuddling - or doing anything for that matter. part of it is because he doesn't want to make you uncomfortable but also because he thinks your eyes are beautiful and wants to stare at your face. he'd most likely want to face you, and pull your waist towards him sliding his hand on your back. though he'd do it carefully and gently, treating you like a gentle flower that could move away anytime you wanted.

definitely calls you the most random and/or corniest pet names ever, think like "heya cutie-patootie-razarooie!". this definitely causes people to give you weird looks but i think it's part of his charm, and i'm sure you do too.

Sadie and Arthur and the Affects of Gender Roles in 1899 America

(warning: there is sexism and sexist ideas in this analysis because I refuse to sugarcoat the time period that RDR2 takes place in. Arthur is a product of his time and though it isn't shoved in your face, it's still there. Understanding the gender dynamics of this time period makes the characters much more understandable, nuanced, likeable, and better, if I'm being frank.)

I don't ship Sadie and Arthur, at all, it makes no sense to me besides two people liking the characters and thus putting them together. I like them as friends but that's about it.

And let's be so real for a second- even if they do get together for whatever reason, they absolutely wouldn't be compatible as partners because its been shown time and time again that Arthur believes in gender roles and gets visibly annoyed or angry when a woman takes up a man's role when a man is there or when a woman does something he thinks is unladylike in their line of work (just listen to his antagonization of Abigail (for her past as a prostitute, usually), Sadie, Karen, prostitutes, and female performers, all women who take on unconventional roles in their life(also pay attention to certain mission dialogues, and cutscene body language)).

Sadie proves herself as capable, and Arthur works with her, but he makes quips about her behavior or subtly judges her or makes fun of her("Oh, I'm sorry princess. Was there an insufficient feather in your pillow?" "You got a pair of pants and all of a sudden you think you're Landon Ricketts?" "You want to ruuuunnnn with the men?" "Few more like her and there wouldn't be much of a world left." "That ain't what you mean- I can still fight!" Or him being visibly annoyed when she doesn't take his hand to enter the boat and other similar things like that)

Arthur believes that a man should be the one doing the work that revolves around such physical exertion and if he isn't the one doing those things for a woman, he feels as if he is failing in his role as a protector and provider, which then provokes annoyance or in some cases, even anger. Sadie doesn't care about this obviously, and Jake Adler didn't either, hence why they worked so well together as a couple.

Not Arthur though. To put it quite simply, he prefers and is compatible with women who believe in the same gender roles as he does (Mary Gillis, Abigail Roberts, etc.).

This doesn't mean he dislikes Sadie, because it's quite obvious that he is fond of her, but given the intimacy of a relationship, Sadie would get fed up with him trying to be the ONLY provider and protector, and him getting fed up with her by encroaching on what he sees as his duties and responsibilities. He works with her in the way that he does because he has to and he respects that.

Some people may disagree with me on this analysis and that's fine, but to me, it feels like the most realistic outcome if they did become romantic partners. Another reason why I say this is because my mother comes from a culture that still operates a lot like 1899 America and I've seen this dynamic between men and women so many times that it's ridiculous- men who will accept working with a woman in more traditionally masculine roles and prefer partners who are more traditionally feminine.

every time I'm devouring a SaneGiyuu fic because I like its plot for a while, here goes a smut scene that never fails to make me sigh and mayhaps roll my eyes

most of the times I know I'll get icked but decide to read because "what if it's not that bad",, then it's almost always the same shit over and over: Sanemi topping, bonus points if there's even just slight roughness (yikes😬...), Giyuu being loud and being described in degrading terms [and basically none of this was told beforehand in tags nor notes, almost as if it was the "normal" perception of SaneGiyuu for most people...??? shut UP??😃]

respectfully, it's ass.

I'm tired, these tropes are overused and fucking inaccurate dare I say, unless there's a reason in the fanfic's AU specifically but I still find it to be too common and weird. if you want a somewhat accurate SaneGiyuu pay gorn (/hj /ref) it must be them switching AND being romantic. where the FUCK is the romance,, the last one I've read now wasn't that bad because it still mentioned adoration, kisses and love overall, but there's almost always something that icks me even just in the few fics I've read so far, and it makes my reading experience sm slower and uncomfortable afterwards even if I initially loved the fic

now, as I've stated multiple times, I hate the "rough daddy dom Sanemi" and "submissive twink Giyuu" headcanons with every single inch of my entire being in&out including my whole soul /drm,,, and not just in sex scenes but in their overall dynamic, it's so enraging I don't care if someone disagrees I'd just stare and judge??😭😭😭my main purpose when I complain abt this stuff is to look for other people with my same mindset (thank GOD I saw lots of them so far though)

the disrespect, and the fetishization of queer couples in which one "has to look/act more like the opposite gender" and inevitably the one who has more apparent feminine traits has to be the sub, bc they associate femininity with submissiveness. heteronormativity and borderline patriarchy-inducted stereotypes?? woah./neg

let Sanemi receive, it won't make him any less of a man nor threaten his masculinity I promise🥺 same goes for Giyuu if he was actually written like the manly strong man and SOLDIER he fucking is? I still wouldn't really really prefer it but I would respect the preference in that case.. heated arguments about who tops or bottoms are inherently fetishizing and stupid, however if I see a (weird) pattern I'm gonna hate it sorry not sorry😭🙏🏻

also please if someone can recommend SaneGiyuu fics with NO smut or actually well written sex scenes with them preferably switching (it's the only actual realistic trope and I stand by this fact) I'll be thankful, and I'm taking the occasion to also recommend "You And Me, Alone Together" by Katz3 (yes there's also occasional sex scenes and yes they're perfect in every possible way, the whole fic is!! I have yet to find a better fic and I know I won't, despite it being underrated); or maybe if you have fic recs in which Giyuu exclusively tops if there's NSFW scenes, out of nothing but pure spite, I would be thankful as well🥰

one last thing bc I usually get heavily misinterpreted whenever I complain abt anything: I'm NOT saying "GiyuSane is better" (even if that's what *I* personally think, due to how I interpret their writing and how I headcanon their relationship dynamic which has nothing much different from most, I just don't twinkify/overly-feminize/infantilize Giyuu nor I over-sexualize/booktok-fy Sanemi), I'm just saying it's more realistic if they switched: it's more accurate, more inclusive, less mischaracterizing, less stereotyped and therefore less heteronormative and less fetishizing...

and about the degrading and roughness and all that I mentioned, I just despise it. for every ship and every trope, whether m/f, f/f or m/m. it takes romance away imo and I won't be sugarcoating it with "oh but it's consensual so it's fine" nor negotiating it in order not to piss off the people who like this kind of content; I'm sorry, keep your preferences, but I won't be shutting the fuck up if I have to read it every goddamn time I naively think there's normal and loving sex scenes. put tags to warn readers who don't wanna read that shit so they can skip it if they still gave the fic a shot, please🙏🏻

Small explaination: I probably need to do this sooner but in these scenarios I try to take all the possibilities and give the most realistic reactions and headcanons based on the characters. So no specific genders specific state like marriage or adoption and specific personality for the child.

A.n: I tried my best, I hope I characterized him correctly, I didn't read the light novels so I'll try to understand his character by what I heard, read and watched in anime, image from BSD manga!. I should probably sleep but no-

Characters: Nakahara Chuuya

Chuuya:

Marriage or not? Both is possible. As with every port Mafia member, they can and would get in physical relationship if they wanted something/need something/for a mission. He is no exception to that.

If it's from a marriage, my guy doing everything to give his partner everything they need (I use they cause adoption while in marriage is a possibility) but if it's from a physical relationship he probably won't take the child at first, of course he would visit the woman he got pregnant during pregnancy and give her money for needs

Yet when the baby is born, he would take the child if the mother don't care/try to put them in adoption/neglect or abuse the child. But if the mother is good, he would react more calm, he still visit the house once in a while but not too much (to not take attention that he has a child from a affair), he would still send plenty of money tho

He would inform Mori about the child, which his boss wouldn't mind, cause why worry? Mori got himself another thing to use against Chuuya to keep him in Mafia.

He won't act different to genders as well, yeah he may use more swear words if the child is a boy, and try to be more like a gentleman if the child is a girl. But nothing more, he would treat genders equally, going on shopping? Sure thing, his child also coming with him. Visiting another country? He would book first class seats for him and his child

He is his child's guardian, no matter where they come from (marriage, adoption, physical relationship, etc) he would protect them from the cruelty of the world and try to show it's bright sides.

He would teach his child how to respect everyone. Only exceptions are the ones who don't deserve any respect. He would let them kick those people. He would probably teach them how to use a gun or a knife. He probably even let his child (around their middle teenage years, 15-18) drink very small amount of wine while they were with him. Only they would know how it would taste like. He woudnt let them drink real alcohol till they are adult tho.

He won't them spoil much, he don't want his child to grow up to be a spoiled kid who thinks they can get everything. No, he probably would do things like "if you do these, then we can do these." He tries to give his child best childhood while trying to keep them from getting too spoiled and grow up to be a good person

One of his greatest fears is that losing his child. He would always make sure his child is in a safe place and with someone he trusts before he use corruption, before he leaves for a mission, or just going to shopping. He is scared, he don't want to lose his child like he lose sheep and flags..

Their first friend is probably Kouyou, she is the calm and caring grandma/aunt. She is like Fukuzawa, she grow up traditionally so she would teach the child manners, how to wear yukata, sit properly and most likely (regardless of the gender) the etiquettes.

Small headcanon: he is probably the kind of father who would mess with his child's hair then put his head on their head.

Their second friend which Chuuya almost hit with a chair but couldn't as he was holding his child is Dazai. He probably once took the child to a theme park without telling Chuuya, causing the ginger man to almost have an panic attack when he coudnt find his child, and when he called Dazai, he probably was like "oh yeah, I took them to theme park!"

Not to say Chuuya won't let Dazai babysit his child after that day.

Kouyou also Chuuya's child's babysitter most of the time. If she is busy then Akutagawa. If Akutagawa is busy, then he would complains all the time but calls Dazai to look after his child after lots warnings and setting versious of rules

At the mention of Akutagawa, he is child's third friend, and he somehow has a siblings like relationship with Chuuya's child

Weirdly he isn't totally confused with the child, (regardless of the gender) the child would remind him of his sister, which makes him less grumpy and cold around the child.

Chuuya.. actually wants his child to be away from Mafia, but he is stuck in a dilemma. He wants to run away from Mafia since he knew it would only bring harm and misfortune for his child in both present and future; but he also knows he can't run away from the Mafia, both his royalty and the manipulation Mori put on him wont let him run away.

But he won't be too surprised if his child end up in Mafia or in a gang. He raised them to be respectful and protect the weak ones like him, so if his child does the opposite, he is disappointed and angry. He would have a talk with his child, which would make them behave (cause Chuuya's anger is actually would be scary) and if they don't: he just proud that his child is a good person even in bad side

If his child manage to get in good side: my guy is happy, he would even let one or two tears run down his cheek when his child is having a normal life. It hurts, of course it would, when he realise that means he can't join them, hug them, reassure them, or do anything they do in past. If he do it would only make his child like a target to people who hated Chuuya/hated Port Mafia

He would have a soft smile on his face when his child achieve what they wanted in life. He is sending money to them every week, he is making sure they have plenty of money they need. He would also put some of his members to watch after them as he works, he would be lost if he lost his child.

He probably give his child his hat before they completely left, at least a part of him would be with them and give them small bit of comfort when they are no longer near each other..

If his child decides to fight against port mafia however: oh he is scared, he know what mafia is capable of, he know very well. He would try to convince his child to just give up live a normal life. But if they continue, the talk that start with him trying to convince them would turn into an argument.

He would tell Dazai, he don't like doing that but if there's someone who can protect his child from port Mafia, that's Dazai. He won't be annoyed or mad to Dazai which would make the burnet realise how serious the topic was to Chuuya.

He would still order his men to not shoot his child anywhere it could be serious. He knows about Yosano but he still won't risk his child to something stupid. Also he would always fight against his child, he don't trust other than himself and Kouyou to fight against his child.

Not that he is mad or wants to fight against them, but to protect them. He knows he and Kouyou can hold themselves back and won't harm his child seriously..

Overall protective, yet calm father. Who is also can be pretty funny and spoiling. His child is one of the main things that makes him feel like a human being, he is always proud of them. He loves them dearly and shows it via actions

i like to think that he goes through random bouts of sadness and frustration, especially before he regains his memory; he doesn't even know where his deep-seated rage towards demons come from! that fact just perpetuates his frustration. he can't understand why he's so angry and that only serves to anger him more.

also, let's not forget that he's a child. he is a fourteen-year-old child. he has a hard time processing his feelings and working through his trauma alone. children need love and support, love and support that he does not get enough of.

(the other hashira try their best, but let's be honest—they're all always so busy. they wouldn't realistically have time to attend to the emotional needs of a child.)

he is a child. he grew up too fast.

to ease his soul, i think the best course of action would simply be to dote on him.

kyojuro is an interesting one!

i personally think that doing little domestic things with him would be a good way to cheer him up.

or even just doing things with him, spending time with him.

take a walk! go out to eat! make friendship bracelets! any activities done together are always a good bet with kyojuro.

simple little gestures are definitely the way to go, too. he's got a big heart. it's really not too hard to cheer him up, as long as your efforts are genuine.

also, definitely give him a big hug. he'd love that. squeeze him like your life depends on it. it won't hurt him; he's a hashira. he'll be fine.

i headcanon that he's a very good cook!

he is, however, a disaster with baking.

doing things like cooking and baking with him would raise his spirits so so effectively. trying to teach him how to bake would be really good for making him laugh, because i guaruntee that you & him would end up covered in flour and shit like that LMAO

be sure to listen to him talk if he decides on opening up. he'll appreciate having someone that listens.

U. TENGEN—

we all know this man is flashy and loud!

because of this, i think the best way to cheer him up would actually just be sitting in the silence with him.

no words, nothing. just calm silence between two friends.

observe the stars at night with him. listen to the wind rustle leaves and blades of grass.

anything that's simply low effort and relaxing would be good for him, i think. he's got so much energy all the time. tengen spends so much time being... loud and—obviously—flashy.

because of that, every now and then, he needs quiet time to recover.

he needs to decompress sometimes.

like kyojuro, i think he'd appreciate a good hug too. in his case though, it would be best and most effective to hug him once he's feeling better, not while he's feeling bad.

with his permission, massage the tension out of his shoulders. that would help too.

really, he just needs a judgement-free safe space in which he can wind down. i don't imagine him as the type to vent, so that's not something he'd be doing. he just needs someone who understands his need for the quiet, someone who won't pressure him to open up when he just isn't ready to.

Pfff I am the worst person to ask questions when it comes to "sexy fun times", because I'm mostly boring with my own thoughts (I'm not uncomfortable with the subject, it just isn't much of a focus for me haha). I definitely don't want to rain on anybody's shipping-parade (y'all have fun with every combination of characters, keep putting them in situations~), but if I had to pretend to be "practical" and answer seriously...

Early on, Church was a little indignant about being in a robot body (it was Epsilon who made the joke about how "no girl wants to get it on with Optimus Prime". dude, first of all, I think the amount of girls who are into Optimus Prime would ASTOUND you. second, Tex is REALLY into vehicles. she would be down with it). He was just entirely too frustrated and repressed to actually DO anything (as much as that may have helped). Similarly, Lopez was so ticked-off at EVERYBODY for ignoring him, and they keep using HIS spare robot parts! If anybody wanted to have "fun" with that, he'd be so insulted. HOWEVER. I think Church irritates him the least (at least on a regular basis). One could imagine that, perhaps Church asked a genuine question about his new robot body, and since Sarge hadn't up-dated any recent kill-the-Blues orders, Lopez was able to chit-chat for a while. Maybe things lead to things!

Simmons, on the other hand, keeps annoying Lopez, and Lopez intentionally ignores him when he asks about anything regarding his robot parts (also, Simmons is even MORE frustrated and repressed than Church. if Church hadn't been such a big bully during Simmons' Blue Phase, that could have had some potential for both of them to maybe work through some stuff... but they can't be nice until they think they "won" an argument, so nobody was having a fun time). Tex scares everybody except Church. I mean, she scares him TOO, but he's into it. Again, between all the nonsense everybody kept getting into, I doubt that "realistically" they had time for much fun.

That isn't to say they WOULDN'T have fun; Church is very OK with Tex being a little rough, and in turn, he can tell when she needs more tender attention (when Church can get over his own pissy attitude, he's actually incredibly caring and indulgent). They also understand each other in very unique ways, so being intimate has a special depth (I'd also like to imagine that, after a conversation regarding the Epsilon memory iteration with dude-Tex, which any version of Church is attracted to, Tex thinks about what girl-Church would be like. oh no, she's such a mean little princess brat, and Tex, uh, is also OK with it. if they talk about that, they'd both realize, hey- their genders are NOT binary at all, so. that's a thing. personally, I imagine both Tex and Church as bi and nonbinary, Church also figuring out he's genderfluid, and Tex being genderqueer. they don't really present any different most of the time, but oh well. the difference matters to THEM. they also are a little more fluid with dom/sub dynamics)

In a situation where everybody has a chance to CALM DOWN, they could have more fun together... I personally don't picture Simmons being especially interested in his cyborg parts/other robots when it comes to that, and he's going to need... SO MUCH coaxing. I actually feel like maybe Church and Simmons could be a thing together first, and maybe that opens up to more options (again, Church is capable of being very tender, and Simmons would thrive on the right kind of attention/compliments. Simmons would just be too intimidated to join in with a group right away, and he needs to chill before Tex and Lopez are interested. Church and Lopez would also probably have fun as a duo, before Tex getting in there, etc. oh no, Church is the one who was to seduce everybody. he probably could if he can just NOT be an a-hole for a few minutes, but once he succeeds, he will be SO insufferable. he'll never stop bragging about it)

All of this to say, they are all mostly too busy with their bonkers lives, or too busy being jerks, to have robot sexy fun time... it CAN happen, though. I'm sure a lot of people have made art/written fics that involve all this and more, in a thousand different scenarios. I'm just BORING, because I can't not imagine so much plot, and the plot usually gets in the way, and nobody does anything haha. In NOT sexy situations, when Simmons is better at communicating and appreciating Lopez, I think they would finally bond over both being Mr Fix-Its, and it would open up a new dynamic with them being able to complain about things other people just don't totally get. Also, not to be a perpetual Grif and Simmons shipper, but if anybody wants half a chance of fooling around with Simmons, he needs some time with Grif first, they have to RESOLVE that TENSION, and then Grif probably needs to come along for the ride (also, he wants everybody to sign an agreement to NEVER mention this to Kai; she'd call him a hypocrite, and he can't deal with that). you'd think that being best friends with Soda, the most chill person ever with this stuff, would help. maybe it does and god knows how long it would take Steve to come around without him. but it still takes him SO long to just be okay with any of it.

I think a bunch of the criticism is valid, but some critters just grabbed what Taliesin said in 4SD and ran with it without analysing more than surface level. Like, don't get me wrong, Tal is very much correct, and Imogen is more than in her right to be mad at FCG, but it's almost like those fans are dead set on the idea that Imogen is the protagonist (something Laura seems to be very hurt by the idea) and god forbid the comedic relief character does something to ruin her story

I'm going to save my longer discussion for a separate ask or a post, and I agree with most of this, but I do want to clarify or push back on a few things. It's a relatively small if particularly loud and dumb group, honestly, all things considered, who are saying this. For what it's worth, I do not actually think it's terribly valid for Imogen to be as harsh with FCG as she is - again, she didn't have to follow them in the first place and she had a chance to leave. She reminds me of a guy in one of my grad school practicums (practica?) who, whenever something went wrong, would say "I said this wouldn't work" (he hadn't) until one late night I lost my shit at him, which, not proud about, but he did shut the fuck up. Anyway, this is what I plan to write some more about elsewhere, but Imogen is deeply judgmental and impatient and dismissive of most people, even her allies.

I also want to clarify on the comic relief designation because I think you're saying that from the perspective of the "um, actually, Imogen is a perfect sweet baby victim who never did anything wrong and everyone is so mean to me - I mean her" crowd but like...Liam said it best in the TLOVM watch parties. The thing about "comic relief" characters is that in the set up of them as kind of ridiculous, you provide a huge potential for a drop into tragedy; when Grog or Scanlan are upset it's particularly moving because they're usually being silly. Like, I've been critical myself of some of the credit Sam has gotten in the past for fairly basic D&D choices (although while Sam gets that credit you are correct that the fandom rarely considers him a favorite), but the reason even those simpler moments hit so hard is because you don't expect them from a character you've mentally shoved into the "comic relief" slot.

I've found FCG's exploration of religion - which is realistically clumsy and misguided and at times silly, but also incredibly earnest and true - to be an unexpected highlight, and like, it's fine if people don't like it, but like, go to therapy for your religious trauma; FCG is extremely not the cause, and in the end both FCG and FRIDA believe it is good to be there behind the gate to help people! Look, I would vastly prefer altruism that comes from a genuine empathy for other people and desire to provide from their needs rather than it coming from a desire to collect Heaven Reward Points (not that I think that's what FCG is doing, nor the motivation for all religiously-originated altruism, but I suspect that's how some people are reading it), but like, the homeless shelter open to people of all backgrounds and genders isn't interrogating the reasons why various people donate. A good deed is a good deed and FCG is doing this to help the trapped people and, later, Umudara.

Finally, what's interesting to me about that line from Taliesin is that I agree with Ashton that FCG's self-sacrifice is a liability...but look at Ashton! Look at Ashton, who will without thinking accept indebtedness to Jiana Hexum because it's what they think they deserve! Pot, meet kettle! I think Ashton is far too cynical for martyrdom, and does have a self-preservation instinct, but good lord does he hate himself sometimes to the point of punishment, and that's really not much different and nearly as much of a liability.

Funnily enough, Babsi would remind Gale to take things easy after every fight because of the orb, not entirely understanding how it works but still trying to be of help. It would probably often end up in conversations like ❝Hey, it's alright, I can lift this myself.❞ ❝Oh, but the ORB Gale. Better safe than sorry. I help you.❞. What only fuels this whole ship is that Gale is the token husband her mother always told her children about. He is smart, kind, polite, influential. This definitely plays a big role in her preferences too. Godhood would be sad and hard. I don't think Babette would try and talk him out of it. He often sounds reasonable, and if the best outcome is becoming god, in his opinion, she will nod like ❝Oh you have a point, that makes sense.❞. Yes, it would break something inside her but who is she to object? He is the smart guy. ⚔︎ Wyll : She is a hopeless romantic. Wyll would have the easiest fucking game. The woman never learned how to dance - perfect opportunity to bond. And oh dear lord would she bond. She could also relate to a degree with his family problems, ending up feeling a huge amount of empathy for Wyll and invested in helping him where she can. What many people (somehow) judge him for is that he is so untruthful in the beginning. Not a big deal for her. That girl won't call him out, she understands very well. Hells, when babette joins, she is disguised as a tiefling herself for the first few long rests, fearing to be treated differently if people found out about her pact and her hexblood ancestry. I feel strongly about them.

Acceptable Ships:

🗡 Astarion : Obviously a  good contenter. Girl is easily manipulable which makes her a perfect target in act 1 but I think the whole plot between them can turn out awfully sweet when the journey goes on. Babette canonically also volunteers to being a bloodbank after Tav found out about him being a vampire spawn for the group's sake lmao. Not because she finds the idea hot, just so Astarion doesn't have to be hungry. ⛓ Karlach :  Babette can easily fall victim to the big lady's confidence and the charm that lies behind it. Since touch is a huge thing for her in a relationship, romantic or not, she would be more than eager to try and figure out how to handle the infernal engine and the whole Avernus spiel. There is also just a huge itch that is being scratced about big strong woman and petite small one. Imagine the huuugsss *melts* *like litererally because Karlach, ya know ya know?* Note: Ships don't only have to be companions. I just picked them to keep it clean and consistent. I am a huge sucker for clashing personalities. Gortash for example could be interesting, since she is awfully easy to manipulate. Volo is more of a crackship but still awfully fun to think about! Apparently Rolan made it into the roster too [thanks Bean ig uwu']. If you want me to write some more about it feel free to boop me :)

Both of her parents endured a childhood in poverty. It was their way of keeping the family’s life standards above average, no matter the cost.

The girl had trouble, picking up the family’s craft. Never terrible but never perfect either. A wrong stitch here, a forgotten button on a vest, keep your gods damned head together ! Why couldn’t she be as good as her sisters ? Why does mother threaten to send her off, send her to an orphanage, if kind enough ?

No matter how long Babette practiced, time only rewarded her with more bloody pokes in her hands. Clumsy. Slow. Lazy.

A hag got wind from the girl’s troubles and bitter thoughts. Babette’s fears enlightened, amused the fey. Sweet-talking her way into the child’s heart, feigning compassion, offering solutions, quick ones. One of their circle was killed recently. A replacement was needed. If the young lady would agree to a pact, she would gain impeccable skills in her craft. Everyone would be enticed by her future works, the needle like a brush to the artist. Only a small touch of her own body, a hair, a droplet of blood in her work, would do the trick. In return, the seamstress would comply to turn into a hag, one of the arch fey’s kin, in time.

And the desperation cried louder than the girl’s common sense. The need for admiration, for praise, was too much to bear living without it any longer.

Babette left the forest with a crown.

A token of her pact.

The eldercross around her head now one with her body. Hers, just like the fey blood pumping through her veins. After the first shock settled when returning to her family, it didn't take long for her parents to see the potential of their youngest child. Only by attaching something from Babette, sewing in a hair between fabric, the craft would carry a mesmerizing touch. Clearly, anything would sell now. Obviously, the nestling was a pot of gold.

Did she really have the privilege to argue about it now ? About that exploit, which only got worse because of decisions, made with her own intentions ?

Her work for her family continued, happy to help, happy to be needed at least. It was . . . strangely nice.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝘄𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐝𝐢𝐝𝐧'𝘁 𝗿𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝗿 𝘁𝐡𝐞 𝐡𝐨𝘄𝘀, 𝘁𝐡𝐞 𝘄𝐡𝘆𝘀, 𝘁𝐡𝐞 𝘄𝐡𝐞𝗿𝐞𝘀. Stranded, far away from her hometown, she found herself at shore. The devastating pulsing inside her head, the twirling of her vision, the nausea. Everything was scary. Not only that, but finding herself anywhere else instead of home made her anxious. Her appearance could easily be identified as a hag in the making, her reason why she disguised herself as long as needed.

Following a group of tiefling refugees on their way to the Emerald Grove, Babette blended in marvelously. From there, the hexblood would have to find a way to Baldur's Gate. The thought about . . . returning . . . seemed strange. An awkward stir and turn. It inflicts worry and second thoughts. Maybe This was a sign. Maybe it was just foolish.

Whatever the future brings, it is inevitable anyway.She should stop thinking and start following her instincts.

My suspicion for why the Northern Water Tribe doesn't allow women to learn waterbending

The the Live Action Show Pakku offers two, sort of three, reasons for why women aren't allowed to fight, besides the appeal to tradition:

They aren't strong enough

They aren't trained and prepared to lay their live down

He won't let what happened in the Southern Water Tribe happen in his tribe

1 seems to be flatly untrue - bending seems to be mostly skill and talent dependent, not strength dependent. 2 has more of a point if we understand it as 'men are more expendable for the survival of the tribe', but in that case one woman (who isn't even part of the tribe) fighting shouldn't be a problem. In history it is more often the case that women are allowed to not fight than that women are not allowed to fight. 3 isn't explained any further so we don't know what it means (maybe they will explain in the last episode).

In the cartoon Pakku offers no reason beyond the appeal to tradition.

But I have a suspicion, which a children's cartoon wouldn't ever spell out (though may still allow it as head canon), and which a show with a dark-realistic take could use.

The Northern Water Tribe is a patriarchal. It is probably expected of women to obey their husbands. In many cultures in our world this expectation was explicitly backed up with the threat of domestic violence (men were allowed to beat their wives as punishment). However, in the world of Atla, benders generally outperform non-benders in a fight. And in bending men don't seem to have an advantage over women. So if a non-bending man was married to a bending women, the threat of domestic violence would be ineffective. And in a marriage in which both are benders it would still be a dice roll that the husband can overpower the wife.

The solution the patriarchs of the Northern Water Tribe came to was to not teach waterbending beyond healing to women and i suspect a woman who teaches herself bending beyond that will be punished by the community.

If they made an exception for Katara, they think that this would lead to other women pushing to be trained as well, which threatens the gender hierarchy they put so much effort into upholding.

(After Pakku learns that Katara is Kanna's granddaughter he goes against the tribes traditions for purely personal reasons. Every official patriarchy will have men occasionally breaking the rules for individual women they care about.)

My fandom of choice would be " The Hunger Games. "

I'm a young woman in my early twenties, a college student and finding myself in what would be a psychology major. I also tend to take care of the physical activity I do, getting up every morning to do pilates and going for long walks in the afternoons. Of course, I always wear the odd accessory like gold earrings. But that's about it. I prefer the natural, I prefer the simple and the basic. Without falling into the ordinary, of course. I just don't like to draw attention to myself. Finally, " my language of love " are usually words that I would write in my poetry or any event that would lead to a conversation with words of affirmation of the love I would feel for the person and the simple physical contact that I don't usually allow from anyone around me.
