the music for the colgera battle is quite delightful (wow i just need to say i like it. goodness) its a shame i couldnt really properly hear it while actually playing on account of having to sit right next to a loud ac but listening to it fully the other day was nice. took me a few weeks but i can appreciate it now - and listen ... im a simple guy, the rito village theme being incorporated into a section of it is just wow :-( ....... big leitmotif fan. walking into zoras domain is going to kill me
#music is the only thing important to me actually.#when i played botw i spent a lot of time dilly dallying as one could say. basically just splorin. and riding my horse around in literal#circles#it took me years to do more than 2 of the divine beasts ... LOL.#anyway. in botw i always did mipha first but as of late noted to myself that when i replay botw sometime in the future im going to head for#vah medoh first .... revalis gale is my best friend#i sort of took that over to totk and after a few days i was like okay im going to rito village im curious#i think im going to have very fond memories of that in the future. i really enjoyed doing all of that :-)#i want to say - totk very much so has had the ability to give me new ''wow'' moments that i had in botw#and gosh .... thinking about how ive played these two games at very different points in my life ... ahhh#in my totk playing i have been very much spacing out the main objective stuff. i did get around to rito village somewhat quickly#like perhaps a few days after i got the game (finished the tutorial area on the first night and just went to towns and explored yadada#for a few days after that#and then i did gerudo town a little while after that#so far i have not ventured to goron city or zoras domain. ive explored a little bit in each of those regions but have not yet gone and#committed. although goron city is next#ohh i did a labyrinth the other day. wicked fucked up man they put half this shit in the sky also randomly The hands were there#scary. no more elaboration#back to music. i learned to play miphas melody on piano a few years back#i really need to get back to piano ... learning to duet kass' theme with my sibling but ive been slacking on my half#hyrule warriors age of calamity was insane purely for hearing a version of miphas theme but for battle#like duude. are you hearing this? dude........#just remembered sidon. dont even get me started .......... sniffle#so crazy when there is music

totk cataclysm event wasnt just a great (but utterly missed) opportunity to change the map in techincally little ways that has drastic consequences both in stakes and in gameplay (like i mentioned before, flooding the gerudo desert would have meant devastating consequences for its ecosystem- like imagine little islands of sand still poking out, acting as a sort of last doomed refuge for sandseals- but also cahnged the entire gameplay of it, good chance to introduce some neat new ways to surf on water like a new ridable creature or an ice shield freezing a path while you surf on it, the gerudo being forced to save the city from drowing in various means or now living on the roofs, trying to adapt by building boats ect - also call back to older games?? since totk loves that so much ..-, vah naboris serving as the savest refuge being high above the water, even if non functional; similarly takign away ALL water from the zora region, gaving it all dry out would imemdiately turn into something way different and could mean death for the zora- forcing them to move to the lower parts of akkala for example- maybe vah ruta is still halfway functioning bc the faith the zora have to mipha, dorephan and sidon is, while not enough to keep it fully functional, but enough to generate some water so the most stubborn or brave zora set up around it like a last oasis; i know its somewhat done with death mountain but the gorons dont really suffer from it bc their only problem is a drugged rock that makes them mean and lazy ..- what about collapsing or exploding it, leaving a large crater that over the course of the game could start to grow with plant life since vulcanic earth is so fertile- some never seen before ones that was dormant in the lava and now that its cooled off is springing to life, which might seem good at first but for the area and its wildlife means loss of their habitat; the rito freezing over, but actually having to move, maybe into the tabantha canyon, building their new makeshift homes in between the walls of it- generally just switiching things around a bit would have done so much wihtout having to edit every last detail ((seriously tho, how did this game take so long given that botw took similar but they did that ENTIRE main map as detailed as it is AND made it all coherent with itself and its themes- im ranting again ..)
-but it ALSO would have been the perfect opportunity to introduce new weather types created by the sudden change in environment, somethign like a super strong wind that slows you when walking agaisnt and lets you jump much farther when with it- a darkness thing that clouds the world in utter darkness with only little light getting through anything that is caused by mushrooms from the udnerground invading the surface and their spores snuffs out all light (which could explain the weird darkness in the ruins from botw too!!), or just simply mist! making everything misty changes the entire feel of any environment drastically- you could make vertain enemies spawn only in certain weather conditions, lessening the repetive overuse of them; and that is only on the surface- what if the sky had sunbeams so strong it sets anything on fire if you dare to leave the shadows- to comabt it get a armor with a giant hat!! the underground could have been filled with different environments in the first place, but then of course thered be those dark spores of mushrooms, an entire forest you have to carefully travers other wise making them release their spores and make it all more difficult, glowy mushrooms, MORE glowy mushroms, theres so many weird ass shrooms IRL you could take inspo from!! maybe soemthing like a forest of kelp, long flowy plants obstructing view and making you anxious by any movement- there could be one thats a mimic or infected with miasma, slightly off color and its knobs are malice eyes that open only if it thinks you cant see it
(also for the idea of taking botws stuff and recontextualizing it, the guardians or shrines, now non fucntional, could be infected my miasma sometimes, maybe randomly to keep you guessing- an overgrown shrine suddenly lifting itself up with hands clawing at you when you get too close or do sth wrong to distrub it- similar with guardians tho the effect might be less since you know them as a threat already- or sth i mentioned in another post, a tower being used as a weapon by a gigatic miasma monster- the one in the gerudo region with the bottomless pit for example, perfect for an arena for you to run around in the spiral while its swinging at you etc etc)
JUST taking what botw had and mixing it up, expanding on it, even if technically little change, it could do so much but in the actual game death mountain and rito is the only ones that saw anything of a change like it, and it largely .. didnt change anything or was reversible easily, and had no actual consquences that meant anything, neither stakes nor environmental or narratively (the gerudo felt like it at first but its also largely reversible, its just kinda .. adding a bit of city)
i hhhhhhhhhhhhhh have so many thoughts still, i am just better at holding them back .... also dont wanna annoy lmao

Since Echoes of Wisdom is a top-down Zelda game, I’m not expecting the game’s story to be super complex or involved, but I’ll admit I am curious about certain characters & implied background events.
In particular, I’m curious about who these three unique NPCs from the Gerudo Desert region are:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The woman with the golden trident is most likely the current Chief, given that I’ve seen screenshots of her standing up from a throne holding the trident aloft are circulating around. But who are those other two people?
I suspect the woman in white might be the chief’s sister, since her hair resembles the chief’s hair and the gemstones she’s wearing are the same color as the Chief’s. Also, Nintendo would not have the gonads to put an official confirmed lesbian couple in their kid-friendly game no matter how G-rated “This lady’s the queen and her wife is also the queen” is as a concept. However, the woman in white also seems to be a person of importance to the Gerudo given that the guards are answering to her. There was mention of an “Ancestral Cave” elsewhere in the trailer. Could she maybe be a high priestess or keeper of some sort of sacred site of worship or burial who acts as a spiritual leader to the community?
As for the figure in blue with the gloves and the hat—they’re definitely also Gerudo, but they’re dressed in a very unusual way that sets them apart. My first guess was that this was an older woman, maybe the chief’s mother, who’s acting as an advisor given that they were standing next to the throne in the aforementioned screenshot. However, they don’t look that old, given that we’ve seen old people with wrinkles in Zelda’s court in the form of Imoa and her brother, so I have another guess.
This person might actually be a boy, the current Gerudo prince, who’s either too young to take an active part in political life, or is maybe the younger brother or spouse of the chief who’s relegated to acting in a more supportive role because of his age and gender. Their style of dress is much more formal and masculine, being somewhere between the draped turban and robes you’d expect Indian royalty to wear and the iconic blue and gold khepresh crown that some Egyptian pharaohs wore.
It’d be really interesting to get some insight into Gerudo politics, particularly if a prince who isn’t Ganondorf is involved! Also, partly because it’d give us some insight into what “went wrong” with this particular version of Ganon if we have a baseline about what the role of prince in Gerudo culture is normally supposed to be like.
Speaking of Ganon, assuming he himself isn’t just an “echo” sent by some greater force, it looks like he himself might’ve been actively looking into whatever force Tri was connected to based on how the tablet behind Zelda in the room where she was being imprisoned resembled the waypoints Tri can use to warp you around.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Given that the Rifts seem to be “stealing” land tiles and making phantom echoes of monsters, and that the rift opening ability is tied to Ganon’s own “wand” that he uses to cast spells, could he have his own little helper buddy who’s given him the power to play Sim City in his own little pocket dimension? Is Ganon’s motive like the angry guy from the popup window in Sim City 2000, where he’s picking up his toys and starting a new Hyrule in the Dark World because Zelda’s dad cut back on transit funding for that year’s budget?
Tumblr media
Seriously, though, it’d be really cool if Ganon functioned as a “dark mirror” to Zelda during what will presumably be his actual final boss fight. (Come on, do you really think he’d be fine with playing second fiddle to a new antagonist if he had even the tiniest glimmer of his original personality left instead of being a soulless shell like in ALBW? He’s absolutely gonna be the final boss.)

It's WIP Wednesday, so have a snippet!
From my ongoing (and nearing completion!) fic Song of a Champion (a retelling of Breath of the Wild with Mipha as the protagonist [and miphlink as the main ship], AKA the coolest retelling out there because how can you argue with MOAR MIPHA?) (also my writing is amazeballs):
“What is this?” Riju spoke in a hushed voice, her tone one of awe and slight disbelief this time, rather than horror. Her booted feet echoed slightly on the stone, the soles crunching on scattered grains of sand, as she made her way over to something that laid in a patch of borrowed sunlight. Something round, that glittered almost blindingly in the golden pool. As Mipha watched, Riju picked it up carefully and held it to inspect it; a charged silence hung over them, and then Riju turned with an odd look on her face. “Lady Mipha, this—do you recall it? Do you think it is…” “… yes.” Her eyes prickled as she stared at what Riju held. At the sun-shaped piece of finely wrought metal, blazing with color that hadn’t faded even after a century. A second sun, one made of a perfectly cut ruby, shone from the very center, with gold crafted into a beautiful, stylized design that called to mind the rays of that celestial orb, stretching their limbs out across the boundless sky. Two round-cut blue topaz adorned the scarlet lacquer on either side of the ruby, while four square-cut emeralds made corners of a sort around the crimson gem. Completing the shield’s decoration was a ring of leaf-green lacquer with golden spheres set in at intervals, between which Gerudo symbols had been delicately painted on. “It is…” “Lady Urbosa’s Daybreaker shield…” Riju hugged it to her chest, her voice wavering slightly. “To think it would still be here after all this time… we have always believed it was lost in the desert.” She looked up, pain peeking around the edges of her carefully guarded expression. “Has anyone… do you know of what… how Lady Urbosa was found?” Mipha shook her head. Impa and Purah more than likely knew, but it wasn’t hard to guess at why they hadn’t spoken of it. “No.” “She was…” Riju looked away, her eyes locking on the shield again. “It took weeks before they located her body. And entirely by accident. A guard patrolling on her sand seal wiped out, so the story goes, and when she went to investigate what had caused her accident, found…” Her fingers trembled, her chipped nails scraping the metal. “She found what… what was left of Lady Urbosa, half-buried in the sand, almost unrecognizable but for the Champion’s garb still wrapped around her.” She turned her brittle gaze on Mipha again. “Just like the sash my guards told me a certain Zora vai had worn upon her entry to the city.” Mipha drew her breath in sharply. “You… knew, then? When I walked into your throne room?” “I suspected.”

BoTW/TotK Hyrule Settlements - But With Mennonite Names
Tumblr media
Today in Canada is the last day of Mennonite Heritage Week 2024 so I thought I'd bridge together a few of my interests together for this fun little project of mine!
Process (skip 2 paragraphs if you want to cut to the chase)
So basically, places (in the real world) settled by ethnic Russian Mennonites usually follow x rules in terms of naming. They: 1) have two components, where the second is almost always a geographical term, 2) have the first component of the names either an adjective, another geographical term or a personal name, and 3) are officially named in High German (AKA Standard German) and have a vernacular name in Plautdietsch (Mennonite Low German) which uses direct translation of the High German name. More on this, including the real-world cities I analyzed to come to this conclusion!
Disclaimer: the process of coming up with these involved visiting the location on my Switch, looking component candidates in my Plautdietsch-English-High German dictionary written by Jack Thiessen using his orthography system in the Bergthal dialect, after which I searched up the High German translation so apologies for any inconsitencies!
Without further ado, let's dive right in, formatted "[actual name]: [High German name] | [Plautdietsch name]!
Tumblr media
1. Tarrey Town: Neuschlossstadt | Nieschlottstaudt
This one may be my most liberal interpretation of the city as it takes the name "New Castle Town," as this seems to be the most bustling city since the destruction of Hyrule Castle Town in the Calamity. This name is reminiscent of Neubergthal, Canada which was named after the Bergthal colony is present day Ukraine. This is basically the only exception to a Mennonite place name having more than 2 parts in it - when it is "new."
2. Kakariko Village: Gruenthal | Jreendohl
This one, meaning "green valley" is also a place in real life! The only difference is that the German ü is written without the umlaut in real life while my version adds the e after the umlautless vowel. This practice is also occasionally done in real life (such as the former village of Schoenfeld in the Russian Empire,) and I prefer it better. Also, my definition of "valley" here is a little shaky, but you can't deny that it is quite Green!
3. Gerudo Town: Sandfeld | Saundfeld
Geographically, one of the most defining features Gerudo Town is that it is located in a desert. However, I could not find any sources of Mennonites settling deserts (could not find enough information about the names of Mennonite settlements in Mexico) so I opted to use the extremely common "feld," meaning "field," and "sand"/"saund," meaning "sand," because that is basically what this kind of desert is.
4. Goron City: Heissberg | Heetboajch
This one means "hot mountain." The "berg" part is super common in real-world Mennonite place names, while the "heiss" part, less so as it is an adjective. Still could've been possible though! However, I sort of had the same issue naming this as I did with Gerudo Town, Mennonites did not settle volcanoes. I initially wanted to name it the equivalent of "Lavariver," but then I remembered that the Lava turned into hot spring water in TotK (?!) or something to do with "volcano," but the Plautdietsch word for "volcano" is the already lengthy and compounded "fieaspieenda boajch." So I settled for Heissberg.
5. Hateno Village: Weidethal | Weiddohl
Meaning: "pasture valley" - maybe this one is a little farfetched since you could argue for the little pastures being irrelevant/not pastures at all technically (admittedly did not think too hard about the definition of a pasture) but the "thal" (meaning "valley") component is super common!
6. Korok Forest: Waldheim | Woohldheim
Meaning: "forest home." Both are common components in place names, though I personally have never seen them together. There are many forests in Hyrule, though none are both a Forest and a settled home and thus the name was born!
7. Lurelin Village: Fischerdorf | Feschadarp
Kind of weird to use "dorf," which means "village" in a world where Ganondorf exists I know...but "Fischer" means "fisher" (don't any of you dare hit anyone with a "this post transcends language" real ones know what a cognate is) so I thought it could fit. I was also iffy about using the name of an occupation, but there are sometimes personal names used in place names (especially in former towns of Mennonite colonies in Ukraine) so maybe in another world, it could've happened.
8. Rito Village: Saeuleinsel | Stendainsel
Naming this one really threw me for a loop because it made me question..what the heck kind of landform is Rito Village? I later decided it was a "pillar island" though I have never seen either terms used in a place name so I suppose you could say I am the least proud of this one.
9. Zora's Domain: Zoraheim
This means "Zora home," which I basically decided was what they meant by naming the original Zora's Domain that in 1998. Technically this would be incorrect as "Zora" is not a proper German given name, but it will have to do. Again, this whole project is hypothetical...
And that's the end! I know the demographic that would probably enjoy this the most is incredibly niche but if you made it this far, great job! Here's another TotK screenshot from me as thanks 🫶💚

I have realized why I like Rito Village the best in BOTW and it's because all the moms and dads are there
Like, think about it. Everywhere else it's like:
Zora's Domain: Either they're old and they hate me, or they're youngins but they were small children 100 years ago who remember me as older than them.
Goron City: I am everyone's brother.
Gerudo Town: I am just another random Hylian vai tourist.
But in Rito Village it's like: Teba's here. Saki's here. Kass is here. All these people with small children are treating me like I am just a slightly larger and more competent one of their children. I am being parented and it's great. 🤣🤣
(There's also something incredibly thematically poignant and fascinating to me about the fact that Rito Village is the place that has the most instances of plot-relevant, in-game families (or at least they come up the most in-game), and yet, Revali is the only Champion out of the four with absolutely zero plot-significant relatives and indeed never has any sort of family mentioned even once)

LoZ - Gerudo vs Egypt
I can't help but wonder what Ganon & just the Gerudo in-general's reaction to Egypt at the height of its power would be.
If you really think about it, you never really see a settlement in LoZ that's more than a hamlet based upon population alone. Not a single one even truly qualifies as a village despite their names.
But Egypt wasn't just a kingdom. It was an empire, one of the greatest on Earth. And if I'm not mistaken, their cities were big.
And they didn't just survive, they thrived. Despite the desert.
They had some terrible practices, but boy if they weren't tenacious.
It's also weird that you never see an agricultural area of any kind among the Gerudo. I know that I've beaten this over the head a bunch, but so long as you have ready access to fresh water & know the correct planting method, you can grow a lot of stuff in the desert.
Carrots, radishes, cucumbers, squashes, pumpkins, beans, farrow, wheat, dates, figs, tomatoes, spinach, cabbages, grapes, sweet potatoes, sweet peppers, & such. Not to mention the obvious coconuts, cacti such as agave & dragonfruit & aloe, as well as watermelons. All these things grow in the desert just fine. Some of them having canonical counterparts within the game such as Hylian Tomatoes, Fortified & Sun Pumpkins, Hearty Radishes, Swift & Endura Carrots, Hydromelons, Palm Fruit, Voltfruit, & Tabantha Wheat.
Plus, there's the stuff that we know grows there because we see them growing there. Hydromelons, Voltfruit cacti, Wildberries, Zapshrooms, Warm & Electric Safflina, Spicy Peppers, Dazzlefruit, Palm Fruit, & Shock Fruit.
So, since BotW/TotK Gerudo have access to a seemingly endless source of water, then add to that the straw grid planting method, they should be thriving.
And I don't understand why they aren't.
Perhaps the development team don't know much about desert ecology?
Not that it wouldn't be difficult. Heavens, no! At the same time, I've never seen the Gerudo as lazy by any account. They'd need to be incredibly resilient & hardworking to live where they do without growing their own food.
In such a situation, I can definitely understand Ganondorf's... frustrations. Doesn't make his actions in any way okay, but I can understand why he'd be envious of his obviously thriving neighbors.
I will admit, part of the problem was, indeed, most likely on Hyrule's part for not giving some sort of aid, but that doesn't mean that that the Gerudo were blameless.

Tears of the Kingdom: The Final Analysis
Part 11
Part 10 here
Tumblr media
A monster chases Link in Skyrule, with a glowing purple mouth and eyes. It splashes through the otherwise-rock-solid ground as if it's mud.
Tumblr media
Blue sparks are still flying around the area, and there's a block of luminous stone up at the top of this isle over here.
Tumblr media
And the lower part of this island doesn't have the blocky, dirty look the golden forest isles have. A sky dungeon? The City in the Sky from the very beginning of the trailer seems a likely candidate.
Tumblr media
This thing looks about as big compared to Link as a guardian, and it burrows back into the ground just as easily as it emerged.
Tumblr media
I backed up a few frames to get a better look at it—it has fins along its sides, and doesn't appear to have any feet to walk around with. Defeating it means you'll need to draw it out of the ground and stun it, just like a molduga.
Tumblr media
The next shot has Link and Tulin diving alongside each other. Tulin carries a Swallow Bow.
Tumblr media
This is important for when we see him later.
Tumblr media
At last, we get to Mystery Girl. Lovely, sweet Mystery Girl. At first glance, I thought she was Zelda, however, let's do a quick comparison:
Tumblr media
Here we have Zelda in the same position, so we can minimize any POV differences.
Tumblr media
Mystery Girl's ears are much longer, and lack any kiknd of curve to their edge.
Tumblr media
They're much more like Skyward Sword Zelda, in that regard.
Tumblr media
Mystery Girl's eyes, while the same color, are more narrow and slightly more angular along their lower and inner edges. Her eyebrows are thinner, and her lashes are longer.
Tumblr media
Her nose is much more aquiline than Zelda's turned-up button nose.
Tumblr media
This is more clearly seen from the back of the Japanese TotK download card, if you'll forgive the low quality.
And, in regards to TotK Zel's design:
Tumblr media
Zel has one tear while Mystery Girl has four.
Tumblr media
She lacks any sort of markings on her neck.
Tumblr media
As well as on her right shoulder.
Tumblr media
And while they both appear to be carrying the same tear in its upright position, they have different necklaces holding them in place. In short; I think everything lines up for these two to be different, albeit related characters.
Tumblr media
Moving on, the tear glows as Mystery Girl powers up her beam. It's powering up, if not outright causing, the light magic that follows. However, that same glow looks very similar to the one we saw earlier.
Tumblr media
It's the same shade of yellow, with the same particle effects surrounding it.
And then this bit here-
Tumblr media
Looks both like Hylia's crest, and like the crest on the front of the Spirit Tracks train.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In favor of Hylia, it has a similar angle to its feathers, as well as a detached central diamond-like piece. However, the Spirit Tracks emblem has two feathers on either side, plus an inverted triangle at its top.
Tumblr media
When she casts her beam, we can see the white stone of the structure she's standing on, with some pine trees in the back.
Tumblr media
Partnering that with the moldugas she blasts into oblivion, we can pretty safely say that she stands just in the cold zone of the Gerudo Highlands.
Tumblr media
And her beam blasts FAR. Look how high it goes into the distance there!
Tumblr media
You can only barely see it among the dark pixels, but that's the cliff edge. That's how high up and far away she is. This isn't just fighting off monsters, this is a show of sheer power.
Tumblr media
Also, take a look at this rock here. That's not Gerudo sandstone. Are the moldugas trying to leave the desert?
Tumblr media
We next see Riju pulling off Urbosa's Fury. She spins around, carrying Urbosa's own blades, then-
Tumblr media
BAM. Lightning.
Out of images again, Part 12 coming up!
Edit: Part 12!

Fic ask
4, 13, 20!
HELLO MY FAVORITE PROFESSOR ELM STAN THANK U FOR THE MEMES!!! hey actually these are all ones i havent thought about so made me put on my THINKIN CAP. and hey actually actually this got really long really fast so im PUTTING IT UNDER A READ MORE!!!
4. a story idea you haven't written yet
Ok so like. I've got these two ideas kicking around in my head from time to time that I'm like. Still kind of workshopping. One is a fanfic and one is an original fic. But basically I've had in my head since forever (10 years of Big Thinking) about a big Digimon sort of odyssey that originally started as a Pokemon x Digimon crossover where I took the Rocket executives and shoved them into the digital world. I have a whole world built for it already and a central sort of issue/theme revolving around a power struggle between the Demon Lords and the Royal Knights. The Royal Knights control HUB City, which is the major settlement in the continent, the Demon Lords control the Dark Lands, and kind of like usual they all want to wipe each other out. There's eventually a viral sort of glitch that starts to deteriorate the digital world and jumps to the real world.
Part of my problem is I've wanted to make it a comic or at the very least an illustrated fic and part of the problem is I'm trying to decide if I want to keep it as a crossover or just slap some new names onto the execs bc i gotta be real, the pokemon world and other pokemon characters. do not feature. at all.
its really just an excuse for me to give petrel a digimon.
anyways they all have full evolution lines planned, i've got a few major story beats, plot points, and the major final twist decided on. i also have 5 amvs that i play in my head on a loop when i drive to and from work.
also in this fic some digimon are gay (stingmon and flamedramon makeout sessions when) and trans (crusadermon, trans queen) ive decided
i think ive posted old art before extending the au to some characters and for my perfworld mutuals if youve seen my sycamore + dukemon art before that specific dukemon is also from this au. ive also got a fic i did publish where i workshopped a little bit of HUB city & a few side characters
i am now realizing i meant to also talk about the original fic i have planned and that one is a short story about a serial killer who murders hitchhikers picking up a hitchhiking serial killer and that one is less planned out but i know they sloppy kiss in the end
13. a fandom you're thinking about writing for
so like besides pokemon and tiger & bunny & digimon there's none i actively have fic ideas for, but some fandoms I think I'd like to revisit are Sonic and Zelda. Actually I had a Zelda fic I abandoned back on FFNet that I'd like to take another crack at one day where the premise was it was a modern setting based on the OOT/TP Hyrule (mostly OOT) where magic and fairies and such are regarded as superstition sort of the same way they are now, and the wondrous races (Goron, Zora, Kokiri/Korok, etc. even the Sheika to some extent) had all died out, leaving pretty much just the human races like Hylian, Terminian, Gerudo, etc. (In this case Termina is legitimately a neighboring kingdom/country and not limbo/purgatory ok??) And the kicker was Link was like. a hardcore atheist. but i think i remember people getting mad at me bc i made his legal name "Mahas" which I MUST IMPLORE YOU. THIS IS CANONICALLY HIS NAME AS OF SKYWARD SWORD. BELIEVE IT OR NOT THERE WAS AN ATTEMPT TO BUILD A PSEUDO LANGUAGE IN SKYWARD SWORD. WE KNOW HIS NAME IS MAHAS BECAUSE IN THE BEGINNING WHEN FI IS JUST CALLING HIM LINK AND NOT MASTER LINK HER VOICE LINES ARE EVER ONLY MAHAS. ONCE SHE BEGINS CALLING HIM MASTER LINK ANY TIME IT APPEARS ON SCREEN SHE SAYS "MAARI MAHAS." SO IM RIGHT OK FUCK OFF IM RIGHT. DIE MAD FFNET. DIE. MAD.
ahem.
im normal now.
anyways yeah i'd like to write for elder scrolls again too i think but like. something more original than the supernatural/TESIV Oblivion retelling crossover i tried once.
You can find that one on my ao3 but im not linking it.
20. in what year did you publish your first fic?
In the year of our lord 2005 (pensive emoji)(raised fist emoji) I published a... fic of some kind to FFNet.
You won't find it anymore, I deleted it a long time ago! I'm not sure if it was 'Rocket Road Trip' or 'The Rebellion,' but it was one of those. I used to write a ton of OC team rocket fics, and this was back in the day when the Rocket Executives had no name so you either thought there was 1 guy exec and 1 girl exec or you thought each exec encounter in GSC was a different person, and that was me. So I gave them all names and threw them into a truck together and i think in the very first chapter they were leaving the Team Rocket HQ and they ran over and left to die the OC who would later go on to be repurposed into Proton except his name was Steve then and he was a special classification of trainer class that I called a "Random Rocket," and the thing about Random Rockets was they all had very generic names (Steve, Bob, Juan, I think there was a Nancy once but she never got to show up in a fic or rp?) but the OTHER thing about Random Rockets was no one knew what they looked like because canonically their faces were all censored with a big ass mosaic effect (this was written, not draw.)
anyways farla cussed me out on 3 or 4 different fics back when she used to cuss out literal children so I deleted all my fics from 2005 - 2008 and then I deleted more of them when I went to college.
don't be like farla.
edit: self-plugging my old FFNet account for the lulz. yes it is i, the original author of Slowpoke Tails and Koffing Fumes.

Queer Zelda
Miyamoto designed the hero of the game to be androgynous so that anygenderbody could imagine themselves as the Hero. (Well. Bi-gender continuum Hylian people anyway. That's why Ganon's the bad guy, he's neither Hylian nor on the bi-gender spectrum. #joking #orAmI)
There's a lot of topical things that can be said about the Zelda series, so I try to limit my scope when I write posts like these. I could fit so many tangents into this baby otherwise.
Everybody knows about Sheik and Girl-Link--Not to be Confused with Linkle, who is also a girl-link, but not Link in girl clothes. Even though she happens to also be wearing Girl clothes. I have theories about her, how she might be a maiden, or Zelda in Green clothes instead of her standard Hylian Blue. (And sometimes Pink. [Trans Zelda?]) And she's not to be confused with Tingle (or Twink-le, which is either how you describe starlight, or a whole NSFW section of the internet.)
Speaking of tangents...
Let me point out the scene where Link meets Zelda in Z64. "I hope he didn't see me/us." This could be interpreted as queer representation young children. Peter Pan is often played by young women in school plays, and then there's the whole interpretation of *only* queer kids enjoying theater in any aspect. AND then there's the whole spectrum of interpretations you can give to Peter Pan as a whole.
And then there's the hair-cutting ceremony in Japan. This started with Samurai who would cut their hair to depict the end of an era. Or end of their old life.
Life is measured in how long your hair is allowed to grow. And cutting it symbolized stepping into a new era.
But this is also depicted in a lot of Japanese Fiction as women growing out of their innocence. Because women with children also cut their hair to symbolize the *new life*.
This is a willful stepping out of the *girl roll* into the *man roll*.
In this context, Girl *is* childhood, and there is no difference between man and woman as older being. Which is a stark contrast to more western beliefs that suggests a clear separation of boy to man and girl to woman.
For women, this has a deeper context, that they (being women) have the option to stay in *girl hood* as a benefit given by biology and sociology (or the divine, depending on interpretation)
This is arguably why Peter Pan, is the boy who never grew up. He refused to take that *man hood* role in order to be a provider. To be a caretaker for the other *lost boys*.
(War is a terrible things that kills parents and leaves children without them)
That was a lot more than I thought I would have to explain to get to the next point:
Trans Ganon.
The Gerudo are depicted as a community of women led by a single ruler. And that one ruler is *allowed* to be the *only* man. Because only a Man can rule in a Patriarchy. And there isn't a benefit to multiple rulers *except* to cause infighting. So everybody else *must* be women.
This is why Girl-Link is allowed in the Gerudo city despite not technically being a Girl, and the Gerudo *already* know what's going on with him. Because dressing as a women, being a women, denotes subservience to the ruler. Who is the only Man allowed.
This is the masculine/feminine depiction in the yinyang and in the Bible. Why tribes were depicted as being *one man* the leader. And why tribeless "men" were remembered, despite being put through tortuous situations.
Because they didn't submit like the women did. (Note, women in this context is the negative use by masculine leaders who had their own way of thinking, not how I think the world should be. )
They didn't need to be taken care of by the systems in place, and like Moses, instead provided care and salvation.
(If I ever get any sort of notoriety, I'm going to be so cancelled.)
Speaking of Tangents...
So the Gerudo have a forced gender caste system. Where only the one ruler is allowed to be a Man. Zelda doesn't have any specific Gender, and can be either Man, Woman, or Shiek. Because all maidens, princes, or Princesses are Zelda.
This has a more complicated history that, from the perspective of the common people, all royalty are really men trying to be women (You know; "Liberals") But in all honesty, it's the stupidest thing based entirely on clothing and make-up.
But that also mirrors what the Gerudo do. All Gerudo are Ganon. All Hylians are Zelda. But there's always one who is neither Man, Nor Woman, Nor Shieka. (Not Ganon, not Zelda, Not Shiek)
And that is Link.
Despite being given he/him pronouns, Link is never given a gender. Because he is inherently Genderless. He is the *anybody* a stranger who hears the call to action and acts. The one who takes sword to the powerful, shields the weak, and cares for those who need it most.
The balance between both the Feminine that Hyrule depicts, and Masculine Ganon depicts.
(oh there's more)

oh my gosh, genuinely- PLEASE tell me about your turtles/zelda crossover
YESSSSSS I HAVE BEEN ENABLED ok ok ok so. don't have any explanation for Why it happens but the turtles end up in Hyrule at some point before the calamity. They're not together when they arrive, but rather split up amongst the four major regions. I'm sure you can see where this is going as to me drawing connections between the turtles and the champions hakdhskdjs I'm still missing a lot of the plot reasoning for all that to make this a truly solid au idea, right now it's kinda just been me thinking about who would be best matched with who, though it does get a little more complicated than just magically appearing in front of a champion and going from there
Meeting Mikey is point where it all sorta starts in my head. It's actually Zelda and Link who run into Mikey first on their way to Gerudo Town! He's just kinda been wandering the desert for a day or so after getting turned away from the town, and up until this point he actually has no idea that he's in a different universe, he honestly thought there was some kind of portal mishap and he ended up by another hidden city somewhere else in the world. Getting everything actually sorted out is a bit of a mess, but Zelda promises to help him search for his brothers, he and Link become cooking besties, and then they have him tag along to meet Urbosa. These two I paired together mostly because I felt like their powers of fire and lightning complimented each other well, and Mikey's chains might just be fast enough to help prevent something later on...... :)
Raph ends up in Goron City! In the hot springs more specifically, as it's the only place protected from the heat as Death Mountain becomes more active. Luckily Daruk was out and about though, so he finds Raph pretty quick before he spends too much time alone and takes him back to the city to get fireproof elixirs and eventually a custom fit set of fireproof armor. Raph has a BLAST with Daruk and they definitely spend a lot of time sparring (without having to hold back too much!) and showing off their different protection powers! Eventually though they do set off towards Hyrule Castle hoping someone there will have the answers to how Raph got here and where everyone else is.
Leo ends up in the Hebra Mountains and his first meeting with Revali is Absolutely Horrible. for Revali. Kinda like Mikey, Leo was on his own for a bit wandering around, except he ran into wayyyy more monster camps. Just bokoblins so nothing too bad, but it does mean his new motto becomes stab first talk later which makes for a bit of an issue when he runs into a Rito patrol spearheaded by Revali. They think he's a monster, he thinks they're monsters, it's a mess hdkdhdkfhd just as he's about to enter a really serious fight with Revali he finally gets clued in that these are People rather than monsters, so he drops all pretenses in his usual manner and backs off instantly and Revali's just left scrambling like "what." And really it only gets worse for him from there cause here's yet ANOTHER blue coded sword wielder except this one. this one tries to be annoying to him on purpose. Leo has absolutely no qualms about throwing all Revali's bullshit right back at him and pesters him beyond that just for fun (he's just similar enough to Donnie that Leo knows alllll the right buttons to press). Revali wants to get rid of him right away, but who knows, maybe Leo's portals would be enough to make a difference in the final hour if Revali had him on his side.......
Donnie is the only one to appear right in front of a champion right in the middle of Zora's Domain, so there's no escaping meeting Mipha hskfhskdhsj she's very nice to him though! And he likes how thoughtful she can be and that she's not overly loud. There's also something to be said about being long ranged weapon buddies <3 it's honestly just a very nice match up that quickly comes to be built on a lot of respect for each other, and so Mipha is the one who offers to accompany Donnie out of the domain and to Kakariko Village where hopefully the researchers there will have some answers (but Donnie will have fun exploring their whole entirely new form of tech regardless hskdhskdjs and he definitely becomes close with Robbie and Purah)
Eventually everyone heads back or gets redirected to Hyrule Castle and an actual reunion can happen! As for what happens after that point.... I don't know really. The only other ideas I've tossed around are how the blight fights could potentially go if they all had a little extra help on their side. If anything, I think this crossover would be in a similar vein to hwaoc, just not as easy and without time travel forewarning hskdhskdhsj it's something to keep thinking about though! Thank you for indulging me in my ramble cause I really do have so many thoughts and ideas about this hakdhskghsj

hi so completely unrelated anon here— i’ve been stalking this whole thread on athena, aphrodite, songbird, atalanta, etc. mayhaps, can i have the lion thoughts about atalanta? thoughts, perhaps, involving the whole century long situation? the yearning!! the longing!!
hey anon! i saw your other ask and dw abt it! i'll take any opportunity to spill my thoughts, but i kinda held off since atalanta is more 🧚🏽‍♀️'s creation and i didn't wanna like,, shoehorn (???) it-- but at the same time, like i said, if i'm prompted i will ramble and make no sense whatsoever. so.
in atalanta's original story, she was turned into a lion by artemis/zeus because she lost her virginity/having sex in his sanctuary (respectively), right? i'd imagine that [name] was turned into an animal by ganondorf because she had relations (either romantic or sexual, both would be good enough reason for him) with wild/flora
(keeping in mind that [name] is gerudo and i'd imagine that ganondorf wouldn't take kindly to any of them (the gerudo) having relations with his enemies-- especially the ones that are his sworn, eternity-long enemies that kill him almost every single lifetime)
(she likely didn't even know he was the link or recognize that flora was the princess. they were just two foreigners she took a liking to and ganondorf wanted to be safe and assure nothing came from it)
(but on that note, i like to ignore most of what botw/totk say lorewise when it comes to each race/species. i like to imagine that even though the gerudo supposedly turned ganondorf away from them, they're still 🤞🏽 with him because being in cahoots with him put them in a lot of danger)
i imagine that ganondorf wouldn't turn [name] into an animal like a lion, but rather a monster of sorts? maybe a unique lynel that's not white, blue, golden, or silver-maned? either that or an animal that can only survive in the desert (to lessen the chances of link finding her) that's mystical like a blupee?
(i also think that ganondorf planned to turn her back after a certain amount of time (not a century) but got caught up with his battle with zelda in the castle and was perpetually like "wtf am i forgetting")
it wouldn't take long for rumors surrounding [name]'s sudden transformation to spread among the gerudo and news of a mythical creature to reach outside the deserts.
the gerudo know better than to approach [name] with malicious intentions not only because she's still their sister regardless of her form, but because the monsters that are always surrounding her act like bodyguards (more assurance. they aren't aggressive to gerudo). her tale is a required story for (gerudo) mothers to tell their (gerudo) daughters as both a cautionary tale to be careful of who they choose as lovers and so they're aware that she (and her monsters) are friend rather than foe.
(the monsters are like the hippomenes to her atalanta, just platonically)
[name]'s tale isn't known outside anyone gerudo. it's to both keep her safe from hunters looking for their next animal to mount or sell and because they don't want to go through the very long process of gaslighting/jailing anyone who saw her out in the desert.
with only monsters for companions as you go throughout a seemingly endless desert with the occasional (seldom) visitor from someone you have to watch age as you stay the same is both lonely and disheartening, especially since you're essentially trapped in said desert with no chance to interact with anyone outside of it.
i'd figure that the gerudo would take [name] (and, by association, the monsters) back to the main city for festivities and celebrations so they're able to remind her that she still has a place with them, as well as make it so she's not just in the empty desert, by herself, with only monsters for company a few days/weeks out of the year.
uhmmmm,, talking about the pining/longing from atalanta during the 100 years (it is Not my strong suit), i personally think it'd be more like "there is no way i let this manlet rizz me into being cursed," and blaming herself?
like, yeah, part of her longs to be with wild/flora again because,,,,, woah,,,, she'd never been so infatuated with someone like she has been with them, but the other part is screaming "if i get out of this i'm becoming celibate," and it's a constant battle of that until she's eventually like "i'm never getting out of this. why would i stay stuck on someone who's probably dead now," because word travels fast and it wouldn't take long for her to find out wild/flora is dead/hasn't been seen for a while.
so now she's over them. supposedly. after maybe 5-12 years because she wasn't gonna spend the rest of her (possibly endless) existence hung over someone she'd never see again.
(and it wasn't even getting over them? it was more like repressing any and all feelings by calling them mean names and recognizing their flaws-- but then overtime it's like "damn. i kinda miss the way he would frog blink at someone when they talked a little to long," or "huh. the way she side-eyed anyone who came at her wrong was kinda cute" and suddenly repressed emotions have come back tenfold)
anyways 🧍🏽‍♂️ like i said longing isn't my strongsuit so i dont think i have many thoughts on that? it's mostly centered around her transformation, possible events that happened while she was the creature, and her getting out of it?-- but i also like the idea of [name] keeping some of her creature-features when she's turned back (by either flora post-ganon battle or wild) (wild turning her back are separate thoughts), so post totk, she and [totk spoilers] [totk spoilers] [totk spoilers] and wild gets to have fun with that.
idk i'll have to write [name]'s experience with the century in a drabble or smth

doing a dog sidequest in zelda and i STILL cant pet them. got the ember trousers tho!!! i bet the whole outfit rules i cant wait to see it
wait wait these guys found a bottle...dont tell me its another gerudo love letter lol
oooh clues to the fierce deity armor...i found some already but that's COOL. and i gotta come back to get the sword even tho i snagged it with amiibo already lol
i've decided to clean up some shrines i've neglected to do...i promised myself i'd do more story but i never have TIME to sit down and enjoy it!!
this shrine by snowfield stable was absolutely delightful. 10/10. it feels like such a proper zelda dungeon
omg lol the well here is frozen
FAIRIES........man thats so cool. the way their light works in this game is absolutely stunningly beautiful. i wish they came in different colors like oot
always gotta grab a few seeds wherever i am but now it's time for A Different Shrine
i've got maybe 6-7 shrines i activated but did not do, and 2 shrines i did do but didn't get the chest at.....in hebra lol that was early game bs. "oh i want to have fun now i'll get the chests later" the literal devil talking smh
GOT MY LAST STAMINA WHEEL........taking a break 4 now but man am i ever stoked!!! my "being is overflowed with vigor" apparently. nice.
omg i never realized it but yunobo got added to the goron city statue!!
daruk looks like he's dabbing lol (i'm taking a pic of it for a sidequest)
death mountain intimidates me so i'm biting the bullet and heading to lanayru - i'm working my way from hateno up around the south/east side of the mountain. and i guess from there gradually towards kakariko, although i'm saving the ones in kakariko proper for later
IT'S NAYDRA HEY GIRL
good lord that horn went all the way back down to the ocean lol
omg my map says there's a letter in a bottle here...i see it now, but i can't believe i didn't see it when i was getting korok seeds before
i cheated and i know where the cave is, so i'm not gonna follow the brightbloom seeds. i'm going that way anyway on my korok journey and i don't want to do it twice in a row. koroks robbed me of doign this quest organically!! oh well. it's my own fault for looking at "user contributed" on the map lol
dragging my bike around in this cave with me bc my supplies are so desperately low lol. idw it to respawn i JUST made it
oh........................i don't know if i can get it back out lol
i did it!! it would have been less trouble to make a new bike which sort of defeats the purpose but whatever
mapla point, my old enemy...when i had 899 seeds in botw, here was the missing one
i can see the brightbloom seed trail from here! it's quite beautiful actually, especially at night. the reflections on the dark water..........
i wish i could shoot arrows while riding the bike/any vehicle. that would fucking rule
if theres one thing i do like about koroks its how the boulder rolling puzzles from botw became these put the boulder OUT of the hole into the tree puzzles. really good subversion since rolling boulders into holes is now completely doable with ultrahand without any effort or thinking at all. and thank god for that frankly.
i thot maybe this cave guy would turn out to be a yiga but he was legit lol good for him
ok, before i tackle lanayru proper i need more FANS........always out of mf supplies around here smh
the gacha i use for fans also gives out portable pots and flame emitters, at what feels like a higher rate...i don't use flame emitters often but it's nice to know there will never come a time when i'm not able to cook lol
49 fans, but only 9 steering sticks! if only there was a gacha that gave out nothing BUT fans and steering sticks...bc soon i'll have to go load up on THOSE
kinda good that i need fan refills so often tho bc from there i go straight down to this construct camp and then into the mining cave to trade zonaite for crystalized charges AND there's zonaite mining in there...a good thing to do regularly. i don't have as many problems finding zonaite as i do with that middle step of trading it for crystalized charges lol. i kind of wish they hadn't added that in there
ugh, off to lanayru we go.
it's fine. i have snowboots now, and so many fire arrows
WAIT DROP EVERYTHING STAR PIECE
lmao. warp into lanayru warp out of lanayru
oh my god i left at 2:55am i can't BELIEVE i made it in time. thank you, bike. thank you, dark link armor
ugh. ok. back to. lanayru
first stop of COURSE back to the wisdom spring. girl i finally have that claw
done. one down two to go........i have the claws i just never wind up at the springs lol. i never want to go near the quarry again <3
AWWW addison is here shivering in the cold...he says he eats food to deal with the weather conditions but man!!! buddy!!!!!
love it when he gives me muddlebuds. king
accidentally dropped my bike off the side of the mountain lol. i used recall on it just in time but it went too far before i canceled and dropped into a lizalfos camp. life is so textured
spotted naydra coming out of her hole (and doing just fine). beautiful! sadly not chasing her at this time though rip in peace the mats i could have farmed
plotting my next few korok seeds and apparently there's not one but THREE sets of gloom hands near one of them (purifier lake). no fucking thank you i'm quitting before i get to that one. a problem for tomorrow me
maybe if i'm careful i can fly over them...? eugh there's a shrine near there too. why do they make certain areas scary in both games!! there was a lynel here in botw!!!!
oh it's zelda 🥺🥺🥺 she's so far away though, i can't go chasing her either...babygirl i miss you
ugh fine ok it's the next seed and i don't wanna quit yet...i'm just gonna fly over them. you have to be kinda close for them to spawn...hopefully it will be fine...
yea tho i walk through the shadow of death or whatever i fear no evil if i can fly the fuck over it
successful landing. no hands so far. if i don't move much while i solve this block puzzle. OF ALL THINGS. maybe it will be fine
I DID IT......
AND it looks like the shrine is underground. huge win for me
wow! and one long trip thru an underground road later here i am at the good old promenade. a great place to either start or fuck off from tomorrow <3

Okay so im redesigning loz race decigns/charecters to make then look more neat, and i got to the gorons and...
OKAY I CONFESS I STOLE @ezlo-x 's HORNS AND TAIL FOR THEM! SEND ME TO THE BRIG I'VE COMMITTED A HANES CRIME
okay fr, i took inpersation from they're goron designs since they looks cute and cool to me (follow them btw they make super neat looking art and i think they're designs for the botw charecters look so cool-)
But yeah i tweeked the designs a bit so now i shall show them off
First off with the horns they're made of luminous stone since i thought it looked rad and also cause i thought 'they mine a lot so they might have to mine at night... and its dark at night sooooo'
Tumblr media
Heres what it looks like in light (also i gave the gorons fangs since daruks champion design sorta looks like he has fangs in the art)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And heres the horns at night, as you can see if the horns get damaged in someway they can glow less.
On to the tails
Now tails are sort of complicated, ezlos designs for the tails sorta look more crocodile/komodo dragon like, mine are ment to look more like spotted geckos, so that means that the tails fall off, and theres a sort of leveling system to the tails growing back.
The first tail is the soft/flesh tail, they never last too long since usally babys and younger gorons only have them for up to a year (at most) they're pretty sensitive and never over stay theyre welcome (well unless your yunobo-) (also i couldn't attack a photo but just think of a squishy lizard tail on a goron booty)
Tumblr media
Next is amber (i tried drawing the amber, but failed and then just went the lazy route... dont judge me-) amber is a bit more tough then the squishy tail but till kind of senitive. also while the tail is regenerating, things can get stuck in the tail like rocks, bugs.... lizards-
Tumblr media
Next is opal, a big more durable and strong. Usally when gorons keep this tail (as in not doing too much with the tail and not risk it falling off) its for asthetic reasons as opal tails are pretty popular for gorons since they look pretty and also its rare to have one for super long, like if your 30 and you still have a opal tail thats a bit of a big deal.
Tumblr media
Topaz is next, heres where we start getting into the elemental tails. This one of the least popular out of the three since its yellow color and electric powers aren't super useful (as you can't quite camouflage a bright yellow tail like you can with ruby, nor is it super effective against fire enimes like sapphire)
Its seen as the sort of awkard stage of the tails.
Tumblr media
Now we have ruby, like i said cause of its firey crimson color its great for camouflage and also its the second most liked tail when it comes to appearances.
Tumblr media
Up next is sapphire, usally gorons with sapphire tails are given jobs to either get rid of fire enimies (red chuchus, red lizalfos) and also sent off to gerudo city to sell other jems since gorons with sapphire tails can take the dessert heat the best.
Tumblr media
And now we finally have diamond, the strongest and most durable tail out of all of them, it can pack a mean punch... er swing or something... YOU GET THWAKED WITH ONE OF THESE BAD BOYS ITS GONNA HURT REAL BAD. Its pretty difficult to get a diamond tail to fall off as you'd have to be using it A LOT.
Tumblr media
But alas it is still possible for diamond tails to fall off, nub/no tails are exactly what they sound like. And once a diamon tail is gone gorons can't regenerate another tail. Some gorons think that theres another tail after the diamon tail but since most gorons that lose they're diamond tail are like 60+ years old nobodys ever seen it, whether or not thats true ill leave up to you.
On the next episode of ann info dumps about gorons tm, we get to see yunobo daruk and bludos redesign and some back story for yunobo!

Tribal Distances
Tribal Distances
by geniemadeofclouds
The four Tribes, Zora's Domain, Gerudo Desert, Goron City on Death Mountain, and the Rito had sealed themselves off after the death of Princess Zelda during the fight against Calamity Ganon one hundred years ago. They had no need for unity with the threat of the malice gone, and intended to keep to themselves if Hylia continued to allow it.
The many cultures of Hylians all over the map fell into disarray, on the edge of disaster, and living with the threat of war.
Link had just woken up in the Shrine of Resurrection fifty years after the Calamity officially ended, one hundred years after he was put to sleep. He was given a mission to unite Hyrule, bring the Tribes together, and stop New Hyrule's oppressive monarchy.
With the help of Prince Sidon, he makes his way across Hyrule to speak with the leaders of each Tribe. Maybe he'll fall in love along the way.
