Hi, I’m Cyn and sometimes I write 🥰 Always posted on ao3, I made the decision to restrict it to registered users only 🫶 I am a self indulgent writer and I write purely for myself (few exceptions are made, but even so I enjoy the fics I write for others). I share my fics on the off chance someone else might like them too, but I really don’t feel the need to defend my choices especially if I don’t know you. If we’ve established a connection, then I’m all for chatting and explaining my thinking. I highly encourage writing your own fic and making it how you want. It’s more rewarding that way, and you get to say you created something! 🩵

While I’m here, I’m very easily set off by the canon ship and my notp so if I see it I will get upset, it’s not that serious, just leave me be. I’ll get over it, cause being rude and leaving mean comments on those posts are not okay, especially when there are people who like those ships and make things for them.

Also I’m a fangirl first and foremost so I thrive off leaving love letters and reblogging things (primarily on my main account), that being said I’m also super picky. I only comment on things I enjoyed, and I don’t like angst/mcd so don’t expect to see my username on those fics. I try to read everything, but it doesn’t always work out.

I guess I have to add the super obvious, there are no bad endings in my fics (unless I specify in the beginning and I will tag it cause I know how it feels since I hate reading that shit myself. I literally write the same story every time) if you’ve read one you’re read them all imo. We just take slightly different routes to get to the same conclusion: my ships are meant to be in every single universe and that’s final! I preach commenting because I think it’s the absolute least we can do when an author has done so much by giving us these amazing fics to read, but I’m not someone who needs/wants praise so please don’t comment if you’re gonna be annoying. Either read it and move on or just exit the fic, it’s really not that difficult.

i feel like a lot of questions i get asked about show vs book kanej can be answered by the clarification that i ultimately think kaz and inej in the show and books are very different characters who share similarities but ultimately have a different relationship.

when i say kanej is my otp i mean six of crows and crooked kingdom kanej and not shadow and bone kanej. at the same time i do enjoy shadow and bone kanej but it definitely doesn't feel the same as kanej in the books does, it doesn't have that same inner depth and heart and feeling.

and that's okay, kanej in the books and show are going to be different because they're meant for different audiences. but that does mean that i can have separate critiques for them and dislike some of the way the show treated my ultimate book otp.

kaz and inej are fictional characters and the kaz and inej we have in shadow and bone are akin to a kind created in a pre-canonical six of crows canon divergence. they're variations on the theme of the characters from the books. and because of that they are intertwined but still essentially separate from each other and they have different dynamics. and there's nothing wrong with that or acknowledging that exists. they're not going to be the same thing and it's actually really okay to open up criticism about kaz and inej in the show as long as you tag correctly.

shadow and bone is not six of crows, it's as good as six of crows fanfiction that's influenced by the author but essentially exploring a whole new dynamic. and i like that fanfic but my heart will always be first and foremost with the source material.

So even if we have such characters as Serena Joy or Lord Asriel, they can be gay or bi [openly or not], or straight. I like to play with that form in various stories.

4. When it comes to smut, rule number one: +20 muns and muses only. If you came here for this sort of entertainment, I’ll say look for it somewhere else. I’m ok with writing it - from time to time and when it feels right. It will be under a read more and tagged as ‘nsfw’. I feel like it may be fade to black most of the time, though.

Huh, two(ish) bingos!

I think these two are great together, but I’ve seen way too many bad takes on them to like every fic for them. I love them best if they’re madly in love with one another, can’t keep their hands off each other, passionately romantic, etc but then things start to fall apart. The love remains, but it’s damaged too much to repair (at least as far as we know for canon). My personal headcanons have them as passionate with soft moments, best friends at their best, and uttery tragic in the end. I’ve also seen aspec takes on them which, while that’s not my main headcanon, I am ALWAYS here for aspec headcanons!

This...they...THEM...

I’ve always shipped them, tbh? Like, they were a not insignificant part of my queer awakening, in some ways. And I always liked them together. But in the past like year I’ve become OBSESSED. Like, I’ve had ships I really loved before but holy shit these two GOT ME. They are the OTP, which is wild because being aro has really affected my relationship to the concept of shipping in general, and I can’t really say I’ve had an actual One True Pairing before? But Maedhros and Fingon are IT. (It’s also weird shipping a pairing that’s like, the biggest ship in the fandom...I usually go for gen relationships or less popular pairings, it’s wild to have so much content for them, and so much interest in my content! Not what I’m used to!)

Anyway, I LOVE THEM SO MUCH and I’m always thinking about them and I’ve written them getting married so many times and I’ve written more fic about them than anyone else and most of that was within the past year or so and I know I’m only gonna be writing more! I stalk the Russingon tag on AO3 tbh, I’m always excited for new fics, I love them and I need them to be happy but also I do live for the angst - but only the kind where it’s them-against-the-world. I mean, fics where they’re angry with one another can be good too, but like, I need them to LOVE EACH OTHER even if they think it can’t work out.

I’ve written one qp fic for them and I’m definitely interested in that dynamic for them, but generally I go with the full romo/sexual dynamic. And I while soulmates are a massive squick for me, I “soulmate-adjacent” is something that kind of fits here, because they are For Each Other first and foremost. Like, I can get down on other ships including them, and poly ships including them? But at the end of the day they love each other first, most, and always.

Anyway. RUSSINGON. AHHH. LOVE THEM.

Snarry Long Fic Rec List

I’m a shameless mult-shipper when it comes to my fandoms, but Snarry was my very first Harry Potter ship. I am not ashamed of this, and they are still my OTP. If you don’t like it, that’s fine. This post is not for you. I’ve finally gotten around to making lists for a couple of top ten posts for Snarry, just like I did for Drarry. This list contains my favorite ten fics over 50k words. I will do another post for my short fic recs later, so please look forward to it.

1. Title: The Gift of Kindness Author: hippocrates460 Rating: Explicit Words: 105,872 Warnings: none Summary: When Harry arrives at Hogwarts, everything is overwhelming. Luckily he makes some friends, Hagrid who took him to Diagon Alley, Ron who he met on the train, and Severus, who explains why they have to pretend to hate each other.This story spans 7 years, during which Severus and Harry get to know each other and find understanding.

Thoughts: This fic is a unique and beautiful take on the soulmates trope (which admittedly is one of my favorites), and it features a softer version of Severus than most people probably go for that I just adore. The moments between Harry and Severus where they’re being sweet to each other, particularly when Severus is feeling vulnerable or shy and Harry reassures him make me grin like an idiot every single time. There are also elaborate courting rituals in the fic that Severus pays such special care to that reading about them created a whole new favorite tag for me. I’ve read this story multiple times. I even got a tattoo with themes from the fic, not the least of which is kindness. That’s how devoted I am to this fantastic story. I can’t recommend it highly enough.

2. Title: Breathe, One, Two Author: SolitaryEngel Rating: Explicit Words: 97,316 Warnings: none (does include descriptions of a character with symptoms of PTSD, but nothing I personally would consider triggering, fwiw) Summary: Shortly after graduating his "eighth" year at Hogwarts, the grand future Harry had hoped for starts crumbling beneath his feet. He can't cope with the aftermath of the war, though with the help of his mind Healer and his new, intense friendship with the mysterious wizard Sebastian, he might have a chance.Only, Sebastian is gay, a quality Harry didn't know was reviled by so many of his close friends. Even so, there's something about the older man that he just can't ignore...

Thoughts: This is a lovely portrait of someone's struggle with and journey toward healing from C-PTSD. The fact that it also happens to coincide with my OTP is an added bonus. The bond that forms between Harry and Severus in this is complex and involves many twists and turns on their way to a (hopefully) happy ending. You’ll find out if you read it for yourself!

3. Title: Chrysalis Author: starcrossedgirl Rating: Explicit Words: 84,631 Warnings: Depictions of mental illness including: nightmares/flashbacks, panic attacks, depression, and brief mention of suicidal ideation. Also, non-graphic references to (past) childhood sexual abuse and depictions of its long-term psychological effects Summary: In which Harry is a tad messed up after the war, but Snape gives him a run for his money. Or: an epic tale of PTSD, recovery and gay porn!

Thoughts: First and foremost I appreciate how the author addresses the serious topics of PTSD and being a survivor of sexual assault with such care in the context of fiction. Harry's experiences with anxiety and panic attacks feel very similar to my own, and Severus' conflict within himself after his own trauma is something I'm also familiar with. The shame, the taking on the burden of guilt as if what happened to him were his fault..that strikes a chord, let me tell you. I've only read a handful of fics that handle these topics so well, and this one absolutely stands out as one of the best. As to the story itself, I think that the author handles Severus' character brilliantly. I couldn't be more impressed. Harry's I have feelings about, but I won't go into that in depth. He fits into the context of what happens, into what this story needs, and in the end I am amazed by how he and Severus slowly come together, how well they suit each other, help one another, and find healing in each other.

4. Title: Sending a Raven (ongoing series) Author: Apassingstory Rating: Mature Words: 217,028 (as of last update) Warnings: Graphic Depictions of Violence, references to depression and anxiety and past childhood abuse. Summary: Voldemort begins to suspect Snape in sixth year and sets a trap to capture him and the Boy Who Lived. His plans don't work as well as he hoped and instead force Harry and Severus to learn to live with one another. Snape is outed as a spy, changing the course of events in a few important ways. *Please note everyone is aged up a year.*

Thoughts: I devoured the first installment of this in the span of three days and still don’t think I have the words to properly express how good it is. I love the way the author writes Severus and Harry. The characterizations are top notch. One of the tropes it covers is forced proximity, and it is a level above most quality-wise. When the author tagged slow burn they weren’t kidding, but I loved every second of watching these two schmucks fall for each other. The changes the author makes to canon are interesting and work really well within the framework of the story they’re telling. I find it really excruciating to take chances on WiPs, but this one is absolutely worth it.

5. Title: However I Fall (WiP) Author: mia_ugly Rating: Explicit Words: 104,302 (as of last update) Warnings: Major Character Death (sort of) Summary: In one timeline, Severus lives. In the other, he dies.In both, he falls in love.

Thoughts: I am absolutely smitten with this fic. It's so well-written. Firstly, the idea is so original. The switching perspectives from portrait Snape's universe to the one in which he survives are riveting and fascinating. I love how the author characterizes both Harrys and both Snapes. There’s an OC in it named Evelyn, and he’s absolutely precious. I’m also enthralled with the mystery of the vandalized books in this. The portrait universe makes me ache for what could have been, and I'm on tenterhooks with Harry in the version where Snape is alive and so very much his tetchy, infuriating self. I have faith in Mia, and I will continue to wait for the next update as long as it takes. It really is that good.

6. Title: The Never-ending Road (ongoing series) Author: laventadorn Rating: Mature Words: 636,110 (as of last update) Warnings: underage (eventually, maybe? author tagged the second installment as such, which is still a WiP, and there’s been no smut as of yet). Also! The author is excellent about giving content warnings in the author’s notes for things they think might be triggering for anyone in any way, shape, or form. Summary: NER - AU. When Lily died, Snape removed his heart and replaced it with a steel trap. But rescuing her daughter from the Dursleys in the summer of ’92 is the first step on a long road to discovering this is less true than he’d thought. A girl!Harry story, starting in Chamber of Secrets and continuing through Goblet of Fire. Future Snape/Harriet. NJE - AU, girl!Harry story. As Voldemort’s power grows, Harriet has to navigate a path to adulthood in the shadow of war. Snape begins to understand that not only does he have a heart, but it may be under the greatest siege of his life. A continuation of ‘The Never-ending Road,’ beginning with Order of the Phoenix.

Thoughts: Okay, first off I’m not normally a fan of gender-swapping only one of the characters in a pairing. This and one of the fics that will be featured on my short rec list are the exceptions to that rule. I do think Harriet isn't really Harry so much in this story, as she reacts to things in ways I don't feel the original character would. To be fair, laventadorn made the story their own in ways that justifies some of the changes, and their focus being on how Harry's ability to love rather than other aspects of his personality makes it understandable. So I've sunk into the character as Harriet instead of Harry, and that seems to have worked for me so far. That said, I've enjoyed the heck out of this absolute monster of a fic. The way the author has taken up the humongous task of retelling the school years from CoS onward is incredibly impressive, and I've been particularly impressed with how they’ve handled the characters beyond just Harriet and Severus. Harriet and Hermione's relationship is absolutely wonderful, and I've also enjoyed seeing Harriet connect with others, including Asteria Greengrass. While updates seem to be rather sporadic I’ll simply hang on and hope for the best because this is a stunning series.

7. Title: No Milk Today (WiP) Author: Lyowyn Rating: Explicit Words: 117,150 (as of last update) Warnings: none Summary: A 9 year old Severus Snape meets an old man who might just be able to change his destiny and set him on the path to redemption. Harry Potter has an interesting conversation with a dead man's portrait. Story spanning Severus' Hogwarts years with frequent jumps to post-war Hogwarts.

Thoughts: I’m usually pretty meh about time travel fics, but I absolutely love this so far. It’s well written, the premise is interesting, and Harry and Severus’ interactions in both timelines are lively and entertaining. I do admit the last update being as far back as June of last year when I have no prior experience with this author makes me nervous, but I’m not sorry I read it. I anxiously await the completion!

8. Title: Be My Voice Author: Kazhiru Rating: Explicit Words: 59,621 Warnings: none Summary: Severus Snape is left to rot in Azkaban, but that doesn't sit well with Harry at all. It begins with weekly visits, which evolve into tentative camaraderie. Harry may have taken on a task too big for him, but he will be damned if he doesn't see Severus back on his own two feet.

Thoughts: This is so domestic and cozy and wonderful, and I love it so much. It gets better and better each chapter. When Severus finally got out of Azkaban and got settled in at Grimmauld I was so ready for the sparks to fly, and fly they do. The development of his and Harry's relationship from antagonists to friends is lovely to watch. Harry also develops an interesting hobby which leads to an unusual job for him, and I always love fics where he’s anything other than an Auror.

9. Title: Nocturne Author: tiranog Rating: Explicit Words: 93,699 Warnings: none Summary: Auror Harry Potter makes a life altering discovery during an interview with a prisoner.

Thoughts: Despite the way this was posted it is indeed complete, I promise. I'm not a huge connoisseur of creature fics, but this is definitely one of my favorites. The care and attention to detail are impressive when it comes to covering what Severus' experience as a vampire is like, and the feelings portrayed by both him and Harry throughout are poignant and very believable. It’s incredibly well-written, and the vibrancy of the emotions in this fic gripped me and left me breathless at times. I highly recommend this. It has to be one of the best vampire fics I’ve ever read.

10. Title: When the Rose and the Fire Are One Author: perverse_idyll Rating: Explicit Words: 81,649 Warnings: secondary character death, dubious consent Summary: Harry's haunted by guilt. Snape's warded by roses. Each must free the other in order to free himself.

Thoughts: This is a phenomenal fic, and I felt completely wrung out after reading it. Severus is here in all his rough and bitter glory, dark and gritty and mean. Harry being twisted by a curse that makes him carry Voldemort's sins is an interesting premise, and Severus is locked away in Spinner’s End, his punishment for his crimes during the wars (this is an AU that diverges from canon after HBP). The intricacy of the ward magic in this story is fascinating, and one of the author’s OCs by the name of Odile is absolutely gorgeous. I love everything about her. The writing itself is so rich and smooth that I lost track of time and just vanished into the warp and weft of the story the author was weaving. It’s a heavy sort of fic that really stays with you for awhile, but it is so, so worth the read.

Thoughts: I’ve not read another Snarry fic that is even somewhat canon compliant when it comes to Harry’s children, and I have to say I enjoyed the dynamic they offered here a lot. Al and his relationship with Severus is really touching, and the dynamic between the Potters, Malfoys, and Weasleys is interesting. Harry’s self-sacrificing when it comes to Ginny and Draco’s affair cover-up is very on-point for his character in my opinion. Al’s numerous attempts at nudging Harry and Severus’ developing relationship along are hilarious. I’m due a reread of this, I think. It’s got its moments of depth, but it really is a fun, light-hearted read overall, which I appreciate from time to time.

Title: A Light in the Silence, a Voice in the Dark Author: Cayce_Morris Rating: Explicit Words: 76,153 Warnings: dubious consent (brief and non-graphic/non-violent), possible odd fetish? (I personally wouldn’t call what goes on here a fetish, but just in case.) Summary: Severus lives, just barely. Now what’s going on between him and Harry is too shocking for words. Everyone around Harry fears he’s lost his mind, but could there be more to this situation than meets the eye?

Thoughts: Okay, Severus is in a coma-like state for most of this fic, which is where the weird fetish warning probably comes from. He is aware of what goes on around him, but he cannot move or communicate that fact to others at first. Harry can eventually hear his thoughts, and they communicate through this odd link that forms between them. The concept is intriguing, and I enjoyed it a lot. I love how determined Harry is to be there for Severus, coming to the hospital every day and making sure that Severus isn’t alone. I have to laugh at Harry’s insistence to others that he can hear Severus in his head while Severus is telling him he’s only making people think that Harry is crazy, and of course this causes problems for them later. It does have a happy ending, so never fear.

1. Hi, first thank you for your blog! I am here first and foremost for Misha and Cas but I really like all your MCU reblogs and your posts about fanfics and fandoms. And I wanted to ask this. whenever I read any fanfic, I can tell who the author's favorite character is, and if that character doesn't match my fave, I can't read it even if it's a really written fic. Is this a common reading experience? I know that you should like both characters of ship to ship and write fics, but

Like if I am reading destiel, I can tell whether the author likes Cas or Dean more and I can’t read if it’s Dean. Such a nice message to receive ;) I’m glad my blog makes some sense to you since I’m kinda in between fandoms right now but I’m also getting new followers which means I’m doing something right? So, in short, if anyone was wondering, this blog is mainly about Cas & Misha, vintage destiel, reblog support to my destiel fandom friends. Now I’m also slowly moving into MCU and stony fandom. Plus everything I find interesting about fandom, fanfiction and memes. I will follow SPN s15 through my dash, I’m here for all destiel fandom’s ups and downs because this is once in a lifetime experience. End of an era, so excite! My tags for spn fandom drama llama is fandom oranges, other fandom drama - fandom grapefruits.

Now, about fanfic, my favorite topic! I think yes, most fans/fic writers love and identify with one character in the ship and are (usually) positive about the other. That is pretty common. There’s also saying that shipping is about identifying with one character and being attracted to the other one. If you follow fic writers here, you’ll see how they talk about destiel and which character they love more, and then you can follow them accordingly. There’s nothing wrong with seeking out fics that are from your favorite character POV. It just means that you know what you want from your fic, I think it’s great. You may have less choices if you’re a Cas fan, since destiel fandom skews very strongly towards Dean, but there are plenty of great Cas POV fics. I know that there are fans who say things like “”how can you ship it if you hate half of your ship” or “one character stans are ruining fandom/shipping” and my personal favorite “we true fans love both characters equally!!” But, well, you don’t have to love both characters equally to ship them. Shipping is about you, about what you get out from their relationship, their journeys. And, if your needs change with time, you can always change ships. There are plenty of bitter Cas fans who have moved on from shipping Cas/Dean to shipping Cas+Happiness. After 8 years of watching spn with fandom and reading destiel fic, I’ve amassed a whole bunch of fanfic tropes, kinks and squicks I’d rather avoid in a fic. Like, just this year I had to stop reading several fics by really good writers I was excited about only because I’m just not that interested in closeted Dean Coming Out stories anymore.

There could be many reasons why you don’t like even well written fic besides the author favoring Dean. It could be trope, or theme or just the fic not giving Cas the attention you want, or even worse, just using Cas a prop in the story. There’s plenty of versatile authors who write fics from both POVs and you may like Cas POV fic from the author who is a Dean girl? Not to mention that quite a few very popular destiel fics are written by Sam girls. So, while fic POV and bottoming character is a good indicator of who gets the most emotional development, it is not that clear cut. Like, I personally love Cas POV fic with bottom Cas for all the reasons you mentioned, but some of my friends, also bitter Cas girls, love dom/top Cas fics even if it means it’s a bottom Dean POV fic. For them, the appeal is Cas who is in control of his life and master in the bedroom. Then there’s also a bunch of bottom Cas POV fics I don’t even open because I can see from the tags/summary that that’s not my cup of tea.

And let’s not forget about fics that are written by folks who just use popular ship to write tropes they’d never put their real OTP through, like dark non con stuff, gore, violence, cruelty, infidelity. Or folks who use popular ship tag for the fic written about other pairing or even original fic. All these things happen fairly often, so, sometimes it’s not the character POV that rings false, it could be a case when the whole fic was not written with Dean and Cas in mind.

(Unrelated, but I just read a T rated stony fic with protective Steve POV which was all about Steve being invested in Tony’s well being. Gosh, I’d love to read such a Dean POV fic, LOVE. Give it to me, give me a Dean POV fic where Dean actively cares about Cas for all its 40k. Sometimes I want to read a fic that goes deep into Cas mind, and sometimes I just want Cas to be cherished and loved, you know?)

HOW THEY CHANGE: he doesn’t. steve over the past 75 years has remained largely unchanged as a whole. he still follows the same set of ideals and morals that he did in the 1940s, and is still the same person. still thinks the same. HOWEVER, this does change from time to time when he’s been betrayed, or when his loved ones are threatened. steve gets really ugly then. he does not rule out doing some bad stuff. he has threatened to kill, has aimed to kill, has let people been tortured. he hates doing it but. he does it. shit’s bad ya’ll. apart from anything to do with his loved ones though, steve changes in his response to the world. he always aims to go bigger, to tackle the next issue. he, eventually, manages to accept guilt and blame when he’s guilty and to be blamed – like how he hasn’t helped the x-men enough.

WHY YOU LOVE THEM: okay … li s t en. i’m going to try not to get too into this and write like, a whole fucking novel on him ok. lmao. but … i’ve been a fan of steve rogers since i was a kid. my father introduced me to marvel comics. i loved him. fell out of comics for a bit in like 2009, picked them back up like two years ago after ca:tws came out. fell in love with steve rogers again and to a whole new level because i could actually understand better what he stood for. fell out of love with comics in 2016 because of the bullshit nick spencer pulled with h*dra cap. got back into it now that it’s been over for a while and the first issue of the waid/samnee run pulled at my heart strings. steve rogers is … he’s an ideal. a lot of people look up to him. i look up to him. he’s a pretty popular superhero, despite many people not seeing him as a superhero since he has no superpowers. he’s not an anti-hero, or a sometimes hero, or a hero on the weekends, he’s a hero. his ideals, his morals, his belief system, they are so simple but pointed true north. protect those who cannot protect themselves, fight for what’s right even if others push you down or refuse to listen, and help one another. steve rogers doesn’t fight for the government, or for the country. he fights for the people. first and foremost. and despite all the shit that the world has thrown at him, despite all of the loss and the death and the grief and the hits he’s taken, the insults, the betrayals, the shocks, the trauma — steve rogers has remained steve rogers this entire time. the world can fuck him up, it can beat him down, it can shove him into the dirt and spit on him, and steve doesn’t let it change who he is. steve doesn’t let corruption touch him, doesn’t let his ideals waver, doesn’t let it stop him from fighting for what’s good and what’s right and fighting for the people who need it. steve could have easily, so easily, been a completely different person. near any other man would have broken and shattered under the weight of everything he’s been through and all of the responsibility that he carries on his shoulders every single day of his life. he could have been the most bitter, jaded, despicable fuck you have ever seen in your entire life.

but he isn’t. he’s kind. he’s compassionate. he sees the flaws in society and the corruption in the government and isn’t afraid to call people out on it. he isn’t afraid to disagree or go against his government if they do something that he can’t morally stand by. steve has trained every single avenger in hand-to-hand combat himself. he considers them family. he gives them the support they need - emotional, physical, mental. a lot of avengers, new and old, are/were reformed criminals, because cap gave them a second chance and vouched for them. he believes people can change. he has a huge heart. that’s been there since before the super soldier serum. steve is just such a good man, who looks for nothing else than the chance to help people, and constantly puts them before himself. he has given up and sacrificed so much of his life and of his own personal dreams in order to keep being what the public and the world needs him to be. he helps people. first and foremost.

and he doesn’t ask for anything in return other than for others to do the same.

Why I like her

There are so many things I adore about Aura but I think first and foremost actually is her protectiveness over those that she loves. Like she resorted to means that were less than honorable (and she knew that) to try and save her little brother after losing the woman she loved out of sheer desperation and will - it is a fierce protectiveness and love that I think sometimes goes undersold. She would do anything and everything to protect those close to her (even if she sometimes acts like she would not).

Why I don’t

I think at times she doesn’t listen - she has her own idea of what occurred and would not sway from that even after Simon tried to tell her that Athena was not the culprit. This I think made her retreat even further away from people and allowed her hatred of Athena to grow to unhealthy levels.

Favorite Episode (also combining with season/movie bc they all blend?)

Turnabout for Tomorrow, I would say, because it showcases her desperation and what she would go to in order to defend and save Simon, after feeling that the legal system had failed her over and over again.

Favorite Line

“Shut up Simon! You know exactly how I felt about her! Her respect as a co-worker wasn’t all I wanted!”

It might be the obvious choice but it is an obvious one for a reason. Her clear love for Metis was one of the things which drove her actions and contributed to her hatred for Athena and there is just a powerful desperation and despair in this line and it breaks my heart.

Favorite Outfit

Well she only has the one aha…but I do really love her with her hair down! She looks absolutely beautiful.

OTP

AuraMetis, no question. It is tragic and lovely and I wish they had gotten the happy ending they deserved. (In present time, I also super like AuraLana, as rare a pair as that is.)

Brotp

Her and Simon - they are such good siblings who have that sort of “only I’m allowed to make fun of them” dynamic which I kind of adore. And again, I think even though she and him seem rough to each other, beneath it is a fierce love and attachment which can never be broken.

Headcanon

She and Metis never actually did get together, but the feeling was more mutual than Aura ever believed. Metis was just too awkward to really act on those feelings and she tried to keep things professional. Aura would try to do things that to her seemed romantic but Metis never picked up on them, and Simon would tease her for these and would encourage her to just tell Metis straight up. She never did, and regrets it to this day.

Unpopular Opinion

I guess my understanding of what she did when she took hostages is unpopular? I’m not sure; I know it wasn’t good but I can completely understand it. If one of my sisters was in that situation and I felt like I had zero other means to help her, I would probably be desperate enough to pull a similar stunt.

A wish

For her sentence to be short and for her to return to her brother and her job much happier than she has been in years and for her to find a nice girl to settle down with eventually because she deserves it.

An oh-god-please-don’t-ever-happen

For her punishment in prison to be as tough as Simon’s was. I know his was doubly worse due to guilt and not knowing who Metis’ killer was, but I would hate to see her fall into that sort of despair again.

1. How has fangirling made an impact in your life?

First and foremost: friends. All the friends. When I think of my *best* friends several of them are from fandoms. I’ve been so lucky to meet so many amazing women through fandoms. Secondly, it’s my hobby. I didn’t write much as a child or early teen. I didn’t think I could! Now it’s my hobby and something that I find so fun (if frustrating at times!). Fangirling has also made me travel. I have met online friends in different states and gone places that I never would have gone without having met them from fandom. I’ve learned so much and met so many wonderful people--all through fandom.

2. What makes fangirling most worthwhile to you?

Well, as I mentioned above: the friends and the writing. There’s something so freeing and FUN about finding people who love what I love and to the degree I love it. I can be ‘myself’ online more so than I feel I can be in RL sometimes. I’m often accused of being too bubbly or excitable but online, that’s a plus. (Usually). My life is fairly chaotic now. I work a full-time job, am in graduate school part-time, and have my daughter and family to care for. What makes fandom the most worthwhile to me is that I can escape into it, daydream about it, and give my cares up for just a little while.

3. What have you learned about yourself by being a part of a fandom?

Wow, this one is tough. I found fandoms so early. I was barely 18 when I found my first online fandom. I’m not sure in how many ways fandoms have shaped me. That said, I will say that I think fandoms have given me confidence in myself. I never believed I could write a fanfic, but I did. Then I did not believe that I could write a novel-length fanfic, but I did. I would never have believed that I could fly to Florida by myself to meet fellow fans, but I did. Being in such welcoming and encouraging communities have really allowed me to grow in confidence and to try new things.

1. If you’ve written fanfiction, do people in your real life read it? Would you want them to if they don’t?

My husband and my cousin have both read one fanfic each. Otherwise I don’t talk about fandom or fanfic with people that I know in RL. My husband read my ‘epic’ fic ‘Echoes of Always’ and tried to get me to turn it into an actual novel to sell. I told him no thanks. My cousin read a fic because at one point we were tossing around the idea of writing a novel together. It never panned out (though not because she disliked the fic--I think. LOL!).

2. Are you usually active in your fandoms? If yes, how long before you join in, if no, why not? (No right or wrong answer, I just think it’s interesting!)

I have written fanfic in so many fandoms. I lurk sometimes but after awhile I just have to jump in and discuss or write. Before searching out the CtM fandom I tried to get some RL friends to watch the show, thinking that if I could talk to them about it that I wouldn’t need to go in search of fandom. But no one would watch and those Turnadette feelings just bubbled up like crazy!

3. What is your dream fic about your OTP? (no restrictions, it can be anything from a cannon one-shot to a 200,000 word multi chap space alien AU)

I want more ‘how the Nonnatuns found out about Turnadette fics’. And more smut (always). And perhaps a fic of Shelagh just playing with Patrick’s hair. I’m easy to please. Hahahahaha (Someone write all of these. Or maybe all 3 in one fic?? Hmmmm…. )

Hmmm. I think I’d be too nervous to deliver babies--they’re such precious cargo. I’d be a much better intern and I’d get the bonus of hanging around handsome Dr. Turner all day, of course!!

okay. mmkay. This is a good question. Had to bring up my OTP list and found it empty lmao. This is a long post so you’ve been warned.

I also included some good fic writers I know, so ahhh

Ok. First and foremost, I love me some SaboAce. Good OTP. They’re pure, and great, and fit together like two peas in a pod. They’d fit in a cop movie if anything. They just wanna be happy boys, and Ace being alive and happy heals my soul. Some recommended writers are @rockingthegraveyard whose writing tumblr is @graveyard-tales and her ao3 is the same as her first tumblr, and @paox with her fic After Us on ao3. Those are the ones off the top of my head, but the way they write them is so good like, after I read one of their works, I gotta lay down for 5 hours bc it healed me that good man 💓💓💓💓

Secondly, there’s LawLu. Also a good OTP. There’s that secret chemistry they have together, and Law paired with the sunniest boy in One Piece just brings a smile to my face no matter how much Law hates it. It’s cute, and their clashing personalities is what makes it interesting. One recommended writer was @yaboybokuto who possibly has an ao3 account and I don’t know if it is them but I have a feeling it is, and I think it is but if it isn’t pls correct me, but their fic rite of passage had me screaming for three days and I ushered my friend who’s a huge Harry Potter fan to read it and she did and she screamed with me. I’m not into HP but god….that was SO good 👌👌👌👌 another one is @xairylle (idk if tumblr is properly tagging her but that is the name) and they wrote this good fic on ao3 called How to Snare a Life (it’s still a wip, last I checked) and my friend read that with me and…oh god….jesus c hris t….like….i don’t know any words that describe how good these two writers write for this pairing

Thirdly…hm…well, I’m quite curious about Sabo x Law x Sanji. Princes running away from their responsibilities. Chain smokers. Delinquents. Secret masterminds but no one wants to listen to the detailed plans they come up with. Probably some kinky fuckers that are into some shit no one would believe. I like that kinky pairing. I don’t remember any fics about this, but sometime I’ll write about it. Maybe.

There is this one fic that has Sabo x Law, and it’s called 120 Years of Motion and I read it, and it gave me a whole new perspective on these two in a way and I lowkey ship them

Fourth, Marco x Ace x Sabo. I got a nsfw blog for (mostly) that pairing. @rockingthegraveyard also writes for them, too, and boy….don’t get me started on those emotions bc that’s some good stuff right there 👏👏👏👏….that’s all I remember. I think she has an ao3 account just mainly for these three in some way or fashion, and the way she captures the emotions of these three…i’m g o n e. I also write for this, but it’s nsfw, so…oops.

There is some Marco x Sabo out there and one of them was super duper cute, and it was called the blind & dare date and I enjoyed it greatly

Uhhhhh….um….idk i’m pulling at straws at this point. Um. I’m okay with Frobin. It’s nice. ZoSan is okay, but I’m not a big fan. Nami x Woman is pretty cool. Oh, I did see a drawing of Ace x Vivi from a tumblr and it was vanilla nsfw but I thought it was a cute pairing.

Some Shanks x Makino is good for the soul. @missmungoe on tumblr and ao3 makes the best fics for them. One of them made me cry for an hour and my mom asked me what was wrong and all i can say was fanfiction. She doesn’t just tug at the heartstrings. She literally rips them with her own fingers bc that’s how good she is for this pairing.

✧ WHAT’S YOUR OTP FOR YOUR MUSE ?? Oh goodness, a really hard question right off the bat. That’s not fair.

When it comes to Minako, I honestly have several OTPs I’m currently enjoying: Minako x Makoto Minako x Kunzite Minako x Rei Minako x Usagi

Minako had easy chemistry with those listed above, but they’re not the ONLY pairings I’m willing to ship. They’re just my faves right now <3

✧ WHAT ARE YOU WILLING TO RP WHEN IT COMES TO SHIPPING ?? First and foremost, I play Minako as a pansexual cisfemale. This means she is pretty flexible when it comes to shipping her with others. However, I am also a believer in chemistry between our characters. Sometimes, we might just stumble upon a pairing and everything just clicks from the first interaction. Other times, we might have to get through a few threads to really feel the chemistry between our characters.

I’m pretty willing to rp any type of shipping (romantic, platonic, enemies, best friends, etc.). All I ask is that you communicate with me. I’m a HUGE supporter of keeping open communication between Muns, as I feel that’s what creates such effective and powerful ships <3

✧ HOW LARGE DOES THE AGE GAP HAVE TO BE TO MAKE IT UNCOMFORTABLE ?? As a general rule of thumb, I will not role play anything romantically/sexually shippy with Muns under the age of 18 regardless of the age of our muses. This is to keep everyone comfortable, safe, and legal.

When it comes to our muses, I don’t really have too much of a preference in age gap? Mostly because once the 30th Century rolls around, Minako is several hundred years old. I would just prefer it that if our muses at least appeared roughly the same age. But that’s just for romantic ships.

Bets Are A Dish Best Served Cold - Part 1 (Bucky x Reader)

Synopsis - (Sort of) Enemies to Lovers AU Based on Amy and Jake from Brooklyn 99. You and Bucky are two of Brooklyn’s best detectives, however its known throughout the precinct that you two are as good as nemesises as far as petty jabs and insults are concerned. After being partnered up on a case the two of you make a bet to see who can make the most arrests before the end of summer. Both tensions and feelings are riled. Are the two of you destined to be enemies or something else?

Pairing: Bucky Barnes x Reader

Warnings: Swearing, mentions of robberies, vandalism and graffiti, petty arguing, Bucky being a smug ass

A/N: First and foremost, I dedicate this Fic to @poe-also-bucky because Michelle is awesome and always so kind 💙

So I love Brooklyn 99 and Jake and Amy are one of my OTPs and yesterday whilst washing up the dishes I came up with this idea based on their bet is Season one! This idea was literally nagging me so I just had to write it despite needing to finish and write other fics, This won't be a majorly long series, maybe only 6 parts? But if you'd like to be tagged, let me know!

"So how's work life with your temporary partner?" Natasha said, smirking a little as she walked over to your desk holding two cups of coffees.

"Ugh, don't remind me." You groaned rubbing your forehead. "Bucky is insufferable."

"Well, I've got to say, you've surprised me, I really thought one of you would have killed the other by now." She chuckled, taking a sip from one of the cups.

It was pretty much known throughout the precinct that you and Bucky couldn't go more than ten minutes without some snarky remark, petty jab or insults that may or not lead to an argument and you threatening to throw your stapler at his head.

It wasn't that you hated Bucky, in fact you actually felt a small admiration for the man. He was intelligent and extremely athletic making him a more than capable detective, despite one of his arms being a prosthetic. When you first met him you were actually impressed by his determination and talents. Any fondness you felt for the man then soon dissolved as the two of you were met with a personality clash.

You would be the last person to admit that both you and Bucky were extremely similar despite the contrast of your personalities. Where he possessed the emotional maturity of a ten year old, discovering playboy magazines for the first time you were prudent and serious - minded. Clint had joked that you were the "mother" of the police force.

When he wasn't on the field and making arrests, Bucky's focus plummeted from 10 to zero. It seemed his focus was replaced with the ability to be the most obnoxiously unbearable man in Brooklyn. His locker stunk as though something had died, the same as his desk drawers which just had to be situated next to yours. He was constantly playing around with things on his desk, flicking pen lids and paper clips at you, singing out of key or making references to Tom Cruise movies.

Yes, James Buchanan Barnes was utterly infuriating and unfortunately your captain - Nick Fury - had partnered the two of you up on a recent case involving a robbery from a small family, The Wicks. Both you and Bucky had come to some sort of conclusion that it was most probably an inside job. A large amount of jewellery and a thousand dollars that was tucked away in a safe were stolen and from the statements you received from the family, they seems somewhat private, reserved, nobody knew too much about them. You were convinced it was the father, Frank Wicks, his alibi didn't match up to the witness reports at a diner which he said he was the time of the robbery and overall was a fishy guy, like many other criminals you have dealt with.

“Morning, what's up.” Clint greeted you and Natasha. He took the unoccupied cup of coffee from Natasha before leaning against your desk and taking a sip.

“Y/N’s telling me how delightful Bucky is to work with.” Natasha chuckled.

“I didn't know it was possible to be that...infuriating. I'm this close to wrangling the man myself.” You groaned earning an amused smirk from Clint.

“Yeah, Bucky’ll do that to you.” Clint replied.

“Anyway,” you began, now sounding a little more upbeat. “I think I've cracked the case. I think--” before you could finish your sentence the doors to the interrogation room opened up. You didn't know anyone was occupying it and when you saw who walked out with a triumphant grin on his face you couldn't help but roll your eyes.

“Guess who just solved their latest case!” He exclaimed. You and Natasha exchanged a look. Why had Bucky interrogated a suspect without you? You were supposed to be partners, not that you wanted to be.

“What? You arrested Frank Wicks?” You asked.

“Nope. Try Dalia, the nanny.”

“What? But Frank--”

“The only crime Frank Wicks is guilty of is having affair with his wife. While it's sleazy and immoral it's not exactly illegal.”

“But how did you find out it was Dalia? You didn't bring her in just to spite me did you?” You frowned, crossing your arms..

“Not everything's about you, doll.” He said condescendingly. “No. I realised something didn't quite add up. You see, when Dalia went to steal the jewellery and money she stole a nanny-cam teddy bear with her. Of course, Frank and Harriet Wicks were so caught up in having their money and jewellery stolen they didn't even realise the bear until a phone call from Harriet. I took it upon myself to chase up Dalia and sure enough caught her trying to destroy the bear. Checked out the footage and boom! Found our culprit. That and she confessed.”

He never wiped the smug grin off his face on his face. This and the small crowd that had gathered around Bucky to hear his fascinating story and were now clapping made you roll your eyes.

“Sorry you weren't there to witness my victory, doll.” Bucky winked.

“I could've sworn it Frank Wicks and why couldn't you have run this by me first?”

“There was no time! If I had waited for you to iron your pantsuits and carefully cut up your breakfast I would never have caught Dalia in time. And have you ever considered that maybe I'm just a better detective?” He teased. You glared at him.

Within moments, Peter Parker, one of the police officers, was guiding a guilty looking Dalia out of the interrogation room.

“Book her Peter!” Bucky shouted, doing his best movie-police-detective voice.

“Um, detective Barnes, I've kinda already arrested her.” Peter mumbled back, looking a little uncertain.

“Peter buddy, just go along with it okay? Don't ruin the moment.” He said before putting his sunglasses on his face. “That's how we do it in Brooklyn.”

“Wow.” You said, rolling you eyes, which you were sure was the hundredth time.

“Doll, Don't pretend you don't love this,” he said making an exaggerated gesture to himself.

Your morning was going great. You couldn't help but feel irritated. If there was one thing you hated, it was being wrong. Especially at the expense of Bucky Barnes. That man just knew how to ruin your day.

Eventually the hype died down and Nick Fury walked out of his office.

“Captain!” Bucky called, raising his hand. “I just solved the Wicks case, all by myself.” He looked at you, smirking. Nick Fury however, didn't look as impressed much to your amusement.

“Barnes, why are you wearing sunglasses inside?” Nick Fury asked, swooning at him.

“Because he's trying to achieve The title of ‘World’s Biggest Douchebag’ and trust me he's well on his way.” You said. Nick Fury didn't say anything. He just glared both of you before motioning for the two of you to come into his office.

“What's up Cap? Is Y/N in trouble? Do I finally get to see what she's like when faced with the disapproval of her boss?” Bucky teased.

“Ugh, I cannot wait for Wilson to get back.” You said.

“Ouch. Hurtful.” Bucky deadpanned.

“Can you too shut up be quiet and act like professionals?” Nick Fury said, glowering at the both of you. You pursed your lips and nodded quickly, hating the fact that your boss could be even a little mad with you. “I have a new case for you, there have been multiple reports of vandalism at the community centre. Not only that but just last night a few windows were smashed. We have reason to believe it was committed by just one person. I want you two to go out interview a couple of people, see what you can find. Do you think you can do that?”

“Yes sir.” Both you and Bucky said in unison.

“Good and try not to kill each other.” He said. The two of you nodded and headed out the door. “Oh, and Barnes, good job on the Wicks case today.” Yep, Bucky was the most infuriating man in Brooklyn.

You had interviewed a couple of people and didn't seem to have any luck identifying the culprit. As the two of you walked down the street to interview another person a boy - most likely the age of nineteen and wearing a green hoodie with red backpack and black water bottle in the side - bumped into you.

“Ouch!” You exclaimed, unable to bite down your annoyance.

“Watch where you're going, jackass!” The boy shouted at you. Anger boiled inside you and you whipped around to face the boy.

“Hey, you better--”

“Hey, hey hey. We’re on a job remember?” Bucky said grabbing your arm. The boy waved you off before stalking off. You took a deep breath trying to calm yourself before shrugging Bucky’s arm of you. “Not very professional, detective.” He said, humour in his voice. You rolled your eyes before walking towards the next house.

“I know that look, don't go jumping to conclusions Y/N.’ Bucky said as the two of you made your way down the steps after interviewing the person at the last house.

She was an elderly woman, very kind and friendly, who had informed you that her suspicions were on Craig Harris, a nineteen year old “troubled boy”. According to her he was often extremely rude and had been known for graffiting. She noted that he often graffitied his initials CH, in a very specific way. You had noticed this on the sidewalk floor a little way away. She also said that he almost always wore a green hoodie and red backpack.

“What he carries around, I can't tell you - help yourself to some more lemonade dear!” She had said to the two of you. The description seemed to fit the boy who bumped into you earlier that day and you were more than happy to catch him.

“Well the boy who hurt me earlier seems to fit the description.” You said, sternly.

“Oh please, it was barely a scrape.” Bucky replied. You chose not to argue back with him knowing he was only saying it to wind you up.

“Let's check out the community centre, see if we can spot anything.” You said “sniff out some clues.” He said, half joking.

“Okay Velma.” You snorted.

“Seriously? I'm definitely more of a Daphne.” He grinned.

The two of you made your way to the community centre. Your intuition was telling you to check out the back, so that's where you made your way first, Bucky scurrying behind. Sure enough crouched down, spray can in hand was Craig Harris. You quietly walked closer and could see a CH Painted on. You looked at Bucky.

“Y/N wait. This still doesn't mean he's behind it all.” Bucky said. You ignored him and continued walking over to him. “If you're wrong, you owe me a drink!”

“Are you Craig Harris?” You said once you reached him.

“What's it to you?” He said before looking up at you. “You're the chick who got in my way earlier!”

“You bumped into me,” you said, stopping yourself before you ranted on further, “I see you've been...decorating. Tell me Craig Harris, you hear about the smashed window?”

“Who are you the police?”

“Actually I am.” You said, flashing your badge, smiling once you saw the unmistakable look of guilt on his face. “Tell me where were you yesterday evening?”

“I ain't telling you nothing.” He barked, putting the spray can in his bag before quickly putting it on.

“Really? You see, we have reason to believe you may be connected. Pretty fishy, you graffiting the same place that got damaged. And you will be punished for this by the way so you got anything to hide, it might be best you confess.” You said. This kid had pissed you off so you were paying bad cop. Well your version anyway.

Craig hesitated and glanced between the two of you before sighing.

“Alright I did it. But it's only because those guys are dicks!” He exclaimed. You gave pLucky your best “told you so” look and got out your handcuffs and reached out for his arm.

“Not a good enough reason Craig.” You said. Bucky stepped forward.

“Craig Harris you're under arrest--” he began.

“Bucky, it's okay.” You said. Bucky stopped and cocked his head in confusion. You smiled before turning back to Craig.

“Craig Harris you're under arrest…” you began listing out his offence and Miranda rights. Bucky rolled his eyes once he realised you only stopped him from talking so you could carry out the arrest, getting back at him for Wicks case.

“Y/N!” Natasha called to you at the end of the day. “Clint’s invited me and few other for drinks, you up for it?”

“I've been dealing with Bucky Barnes all day. I'm more than up for it.” You said, shutting down your computer and getting your bag and jacket.

As you sat down with Clint and Natasha in the bar down the road from the precinct, you sighed in relief that you no longer had to work with Bucky for one day. You were exhausted and a drink is just what you needed.

“Get this down you.” Clint said sliding you over a glass. You smiled gratefully as you began to take sip. You almost choked when you saw Bucky walk over, sunglasses pushed to the top of his head with a cocky smile. There was no escaping him...

The good news was Sam and Steve followed behind him and you were glad to see your best friend and work partner again.

“I didnt miss the party did I.” Bucky said sitting down next to Natasha. Ignoring him you got up and hugged Sam.

"Sam! I've missed you! Save me from this...douchenozzle.” You said. Sam laughed.

“Yeah I missed you too, partner, thankfully me and Steve finished our case but I think Fury wants us to work another one together.” He said. You groaned.

“Why you're supposed to be my partner. If I work with Bucky anymore I might end up murdering him.” You grumbled.

“Well, you lasted longer than I would have.” He joked.

“You know I'm right here, right?” Bucky said, though he didn't look offended. “You're just pissy, Y/N, because I solved the Wicks case this morning.”

“"Well, I arrested Craig Harris, wich by the way you owe me a drink seeing as I was right.”

“Nope I only said you owe me a drink if you were wrong.” He said shrugging. “And it doesn't matter anyway, I'm still the better detective.”

“In your dreams. We all know I make more arrests and solve more cases than you do.” You argued. Bucky snorted before standing up. He paused and a sly smile crept on his face. You knew whatever he was thinking wouldn't be good,

“You sure about that sweetheart?”

“Uh-huh.” You stubbornly replied, despite being wary of him. He walked over to the bar and got himself a drink. He walked over to you and made you hold your drink before lifting his up.

“Why don't we make a bet?” He said. You raised an eyebrow. “"you heard me. A bet. Whoever makes the most arrests by...let's say...the end of August, so two months for now, wins. They get to take the loser on a date.” You paused, considering it for a moment. You knew it was petty and borderline ridiculous but you couldn't help but give in to your competitive side. Besides you really wanted to win and okay the worst date imaginable just to get back at Bucky.

You raised your glass and smiled.

“Okay, let's do this.” You said.

"Good. Let's drink on it.” He said before taking a swig from his glass. You obliged and all your friend around you erupted into a chorus of cheers “ooohs”.

“Better prepare for the date now Y/N because I will win and you will fall in love with me.” He said smugly.

“You wish “

Got asked about BioWare fandom and prime numbers... (Also a specific request for Mass Effect on #1)

1. What OTPs in your fandom(s) do you just not get?*

Aside from any crackship... I don’t think any of them is quite at the level of ‘don’t get.’ I don’t care for certain relationships, but I generally can understand what would make someone ship them. It helps that, with the variety of romance options, I can at least get where they come from. Hell, as much as I hate the pairing, I understand where Anders/Fenris emerged from. I firmly believe it has a less than zero chance of being anything more than a hateful unhealthy abusive shitshow, but I understand where it comes from.

I think the closest to ‘not get’ I have is Ryder/Cora, which is really just out of the fact that, despite her being a romance option in the game, I really seriously genuinely feel that she should not have been one, that not only would her characterization be tightened by this no longer being on the table, it would allow her to be more of a rival/antagonistic element to Ryder’s decisions, by not having her developing feelings for Ryder while also not seeming to care for them. Though I’m not sure Ryder/Cora counts as a fandom OTP, since the overall impression I’ve gotten of her as far as fandom cares is a resounding ‘meh’...

Maybe I’d throw in Dorian/Cullen here, but I think what I don’t “get” in this is that people will ship this, but when I express a desire for Male Inquisitor/Cullen, I’m ‘changing his sexuality’ and that makes me ‘just as bad’ as anyone who’d change Dorian to be romanceable by a woman... Yeah, let’s not even go there.

2. Are there any popular fandom OTPs you only BroTP?*

Warden/Morrigan. I just really see Morrigan needing the Warden as a friend more than a lover. At least considering that I’m over here playing male Wardens (because I stand by Morrigan being a bisexual woman and it is bullshit that she’s not a romance option for female Wardens). I think Morrigan is in a place where she needs, first and foremost, someone who wants nothing from her but her friendship and companionship, things she’s never been asked to offer before. Sex, sure, she’d use that as a weapon. But to offer her someone who she can be vulnerable with, who doesn’t want to use her at all... That’s new territory for her. The Morrigan/Warden friendship is a greatly unappreciated dynamic.

3. Have you ever unfollowed someone over a fandom opinion?

Not that I can recall. I generally won’t follow someone unless either we share the big ones or they show that they’re respectful of those who disagree.

5. Has fandom ever ruined a pairing for you?*

Not really in the BioWare fandom. As a general rule of thumb, I try and cultivate my experience to enhance my love, not have it undermined.

Though (dis)honorable mention to the Shakarian fandom - I’m a male Shepard player through and through (since, y’know, gay guy, rare chance to play a M/M relationship in video games), but it’s like some of them are TRYING to make people hate the ship, given the way that they’ll push Shakarian to the center of the stage and tear down Kaidan. These are also usually the people who hardcore push this belief that female Shepard and Jennifer Hale are empirically ‘superior’ in every way, too, so they can bite me twice over.

7. Is there anything you used to like but can’t stand now?*

I think the closest that counts is Dorian, in that I wasn’t thrilled or wowed by his romance in Inquisition, but would probably have given it another go, if not for Trespasser having him declare the relationship would be long-distance, no discussion allowed. After that, the luster wore off of the character for me, and I really can’t stand him, don’t WANT to see him have the cameo that they shot his romance in the foot to set up.

11. Is there an unpopular character you like that the fandom doesn’t? Why?

I’m going to stick Kaidan in this category - when BioWare themselves is misspelling his name on their official merchandise, I’m pretty sure that counts. Though, as my tag for her indicates, this is an Ashley Williams appreciation blog, and the fandom hates her too...

As for the why... Kaidan is the trilogy character most like me, which is what always draws me in to a romance - let me romance this idealized version of myself with the dashing hero, give me that confidence boost that there’s someone out there who I’d be attracted to who would return those feelings. And Ashley, legitimately, is hated for bullshit reasoning that I will have no part of. She’s fun, badass, and literally doesn’t deserve the hate she gets - if these people who are pissed about her MAYBE killing Wrex REALLY cared about him, they’d do his damn quest and recover his grandfather’s armor.

13. Unpopular opinion about XXX character?

I don’t like Dorian. I think he’s a shallow character with limited (if any) development in Inquisition, who is raised on a pedestal because of the novelty of a gay character of prominence in a media generally devoid of them entirely, as well as a vocal performance that gives him more personality than his writing offered. And his story is a paint by the numbers story I’ve seen a dozen times over that brought nothing worthwhile to the table that hadn’t been brought before, and it only exists to do the emotional lifting to make the audience feel bad for Dorian, rather than genuinely attempting to make the audience care. AND that he’s there first and foremost for the straight female audience to have a ‘pet gay best friend,’ with no care or concern for the gay audience.

17. Instead of XYZ happening, I would have made ABC happen…

How long have you got? Kaidan in ME1, Alistair, and Cullen as bisexual romances (in Cullen’s case, for all Inquisitors, so I don’t have to give up my Adaars) are the big ones, but I’ve got a list a mile long of things that if I had the power, you BET would have happened.

Though, at the moment, Andromeda DLC is right around the top of the list too...

19. What is the one thing you hate most about your fandom?

Lordie... The utter toxicity. You have to do, say, and choose JUST RIGHT or face a million people coming for your head. And, of course, that ‘just right’ position is impossible to attain. There will always be SOMEONE who doesn’t like what you do in your games and will want to rip you a new one for it.

23. Unpopular character you love?

Kinda the same question as #11, but I’ll give a different answer anyway - Gil is unpopular for understandable reasons. It’s clear his story wasn’t a priority for his writer, and it’s a mess of homophobic elements that consulting actual gay people could have prevented. Still, as a character, I love him. He deserved better than he got, especially when the patches did nothing for him and the cutting of any DLC for Andromeda prevent any kind of authorial saving throw, but I will love him all the same.

And try and fix a lot of these problems through fic.
